College is absolutely essential no matter what the economy is doing. However, the fact that the economy is maintaining a steady unemployment rate instead of a rising unemployment rate is promising.

This fact only pushed me and I believe will push others to pursue a college education. Without an increase in jobs and the unemployment rate remaining so high, people realize that they need every advantage possible to make themselves marketable. A college degree cannot guarantee employment, but failure to obtain a college degree will not help in the quest.

I think more people are going to school in hopes of getting a job in the future. But can also be a determent in terms of fees and I know many are uneasy of taking out student loans.

Part of that unemployment number is due to the Verizon strike, so understanding that also helps keep things into focus.

A bachelor’s or associate degree is becoming necessary to function in many aspects of our society today. Technical education is just as important and the number of people available to do those jobs is dwindling as well!

This only makes people want to go to college a lot more now because jobs are hard to get and their very competitive and with a College Degree you have a higher chance to get the job. It doesn’t really affect high school graduates that much as they haven’t been out in the “real” world yet and they feel that the economy will get better in the long run so they don’t worry as much (I know I didn’t when I graduated High School, last year). What most will affect high school graduate choices is their parents and teachers telling them they need to get a College education so that they are able to get jobs.

I think it only bolsters the need to go. Knowing that jobs right now are very competitive you’ll need that education. Sometimes it’s good to be optimistic and those that are graduating high school, such as myself, feel that the economy will take a turn for the better when it’s graduating time.
