AMDA Programs Overview

Acting

Acting is a calling, an aspiration to the extraordinary. It is the purest examination of human nature. Mastering the craft requires innate talent, but it also demands discipline, perception and a strong technical foundation. AMDA's acting programs are designed to provide artistic performance training for stage, film and television.

AMDA offers two Acting Program options:

Bachelor of Fine Arts- Acting: This four-year program is designed to provide you with artistic training in acting for stage, film and television, along with the tools needed to prepare for a professional career as an actor. You'll begin performing in front of audiences from your first semester and continue to do so through your final semester. Enroll as a BFA freshman at the Los Angeles campus and complete the entire program in LA. Want a Manhattan experience? BFA students have the option of spending one semester at the New York campus.

The Studio Program- Acting for Stage, Film and Television: This two-year program trains you for a career as a professional actor, helping you to achieve proficiency in acting for stage and screen. In the first year, you'll focus on developing technique with a special emphasis on individual work. In the second year, you'll apply these acquired techniques as you develop performance and audition pieces. Throughout this intensive program, you'll also learn how to navigate the industry and take charge of your own career.

Dance Theatre

It takes passion to make dance your life, but to make it your career you need more. You need discipline, endurance and a total awareness of your body mechanics. AMDA's well-rounded Dance Theatre Programs offer a rigorous course of physical study designed to make you a multi-disciplined dance performer.

AMDA offers two Dance Theatre Program options:

Bachelor of Fine Arts- Dance Theatre: This four-year program offers a rigorous course of physical study grounded in classical technique and complemented by focused courses in a variety of dance styles. In this program, students become capable, multi-disciplined performers. AMDA's immersive curriculum also gives you the solid entrepreneurial foundation necessary to thrive in the performing arts. From your very first day, our extraordinary faculty guides you through the foundation of the profession and encourages you to conceptualize.

Dance Theatre Conservatory Program: This two-year program emphasizes classical technique augmented by focused study in a variety of dance styles and disciplines. The Dance Program prepares ambitious dancers with the basic physical training expected in the professional world, while providing the opportunity for additional training in acting and vocal technique. In addition to rigorous training in dance techniques and performances, you'll learn to master the world of professional dance.

Music Theatre

The roar of an audience, the call of the stage, your name in lights รข?? the rich tradition of musical theatre has always provided a powerful draw for multi-talented performers. If you have the talent and ambition, AMDA can give you the skills to realize your dreams.

AMDA offers two Music Theatre Program options:

Bachelor of Fine Arts- Music Theatre: This four-year program integrates artistic training in acting, musicianship and dance, providing you with a comprehensive education designed to support a professional stage career. The program offers ample performance opportunities, from your first semester through graduation. Enroll as a BFA freshman at the Los Angeles campus and complete the entire program in LA. Want a Manhattan experience? BFA students have the option of spending one semester at the New York campus.

The Integrated Program- Acting, Dance and Musical Theatre: This two-year program trains you for a performing career on stage and screen, helping you to achieve proficiency in acting and musical theatre. In the first year, you'll focus on developing technique with a special emphasis on individual work. You'll be immersed in acting, musical theatre, singing, dance, improv and stage combat, while also learning how to navigate the entertainment industry.
