Around Town

Abilene does not have a wide selection of things to do, but there are definitely ways to have fun anyways. There is a drive in movie theater always with double features off campus, and many clubs and opportunities to get involved on campus.

We hangout at Walmart for fun.

We go to plays on campus, sporting events and academia lectures. Also we exercise at gym to stay in shape.

Go to sporting events with your friends! There are two places that people go to dance two-step here called Guitars and Cadillacs, and Oplin. Lake Phantom is also nearby and a lot of people have fun there!

ACU is big on inter murals and sports. There are so many different clubs and organizations that whatever you like to do, you can keep doing it. Dance, football, theater, singing, or other sports, you have the opportunity to keep playing.

From movie nights in a lecture hall to two-stepping dances to free food and love music, ACU has it all. ACU is community driven, so the school plans and pays for many events throughout the semester. These are some of the most fun times you'll have with your friends.

Abilene doesn't have a lot to offer, but there's still things to do. The town is not a late night place as most things close, as the joke goes, when the sun goes down. You tend to be a bit more creative with entertainment at times due to the lack of places that are open.

Chill with friends, hang out in the library (who would have thought?), go to the mall in town, participate in campus put-on activities, go to the local lakes.

The Lucky Mule and Guitars are two fun places most students go to on the weekends. There is always live country music and a bar open.

At ACU, what you do for fun depends largely on your circle of friends. Many of my friends enjoy dancing at either Oplin's or Guitars (both two-stepping establishments). There is a swing dancing club on campus, as well as several social clubs (sorority/fraternity alternatives; there is no Greek Row at ACU). The BSA usually hosts a skate-night at the beginning of the semester. ACU is an alcohol and drug free campus, and Abilene is a very small West Texas city.
