Student Responses to Review Topic: What To Do For Fun

There are a lot of great restaurants in Abilene - Abi-Haus, Hickory Street, Cypress Street, WhollyCow, and more. There are not a lot of options for dancing - most people go to Guitars and Cadillacs (mix of country and top 40) on Thursday night, which is college night (get in for free with a college ID). There is also Blues (blues/swing dancing). We have a zoo, PrimeTime, a mall, and movie theaters as well. There isn't a whole lot to do in Abilene, but we have learned that it is more about who you spend your time with than what you are doing, so be sure to make good friends. School events are usually great and they are scheduled pretty often. My suggestion is to get involved in some sort of club(s).

Get involved on campus!!! Join clubs, hang out, go to sporting events. I don't know too much about what Abilene itself has to offer yet, but I know they do a good job of hosting events on campus.

I have not attended ACU but I have read many positive comments about the fun activities around the area to explore and have fun at.

I volunteer twice a week on and off campus. I participate in school functions that happen throughout the year. I also enjoy the recreation center that is on campus.

Abilene is a small town, but there are many things to do for fun, and Dallas is an hour and a half away. Easily you can do about anything in Abilene. The ACU campus has a new rec center built that you can keep in shape with every day. They offer classes, like Pilates and Zumba, and they have three pools. A Lap Pool, Lazy River and a normal pool. You will never be board at ACU.

Hang out with friends, take part in intramural sports, hang out at the library (yes, studying and talking), several events are held throughout the year for students to take part in or just attend

There's a few bars, hookah lounges, movies, mall, arcades, clubs to go to. But they're not anything to be hyped about. If you were to judge all these things on a scale from 1-10, it barely hits a five, and I'm being nice. There needs to be more things to do here, things worth spending my money on.

Because ACU is on the opposite side of the loop we don't have much to do. But in Abilene period we have a place like Dave and busters called Prime Time.. They give discount to college kids on certain nights. Most people just go out to dinner for the weekend.

Social clubs are surprisingly popular around here, we have 27 percent of the students pledge and that is a great way to make friends. Theater and choir are also great activities any student is able to participate in for fun. For every holiday, and even for random reasons, parties are thrown in all of the dorms and sometimes over campus as social events.

Abilene does not have a ton of things to do, but there are a few that will keep you out of trouble. There is a drive in movie theater, a skating place, a bowling alley, a mall, a dance hall. A lot of students go to Guitars, a country bar and dance hall, on Thursday nights because college students get in free. Men in town also know that college girls will be there that night and so it can get a little uncomfortable. However, if you go with a group and dance with people you know, it can be a lot of fun. There is also a dance hall in Oplin, about 30 minutes outside of town, that mainly has older people and college kids and is also a lot of fun.
