Alvin Community College is an ideal source for continuing your education! It has excellent professors who care and want you to succeed in life and with your education. If you live in or around Alvin, Texas, Alvin Community College is a wise first step onto your career path.
Tips for prospective students
Be purposeful in all that you do. Attend your classes; you have to be there to have the benefit of all the knowledge that is shared. Use the tutoring center for any extra help with topics you may not be understanding; never be afraid to ask questions!
Academic Rigor
All of my professors have required me to stretch myself and do things outside of my comfort zone but I am learning s much in the process! This also helps to build my self-confidence as a student. I would put Alvin's prof's up against any found at larger universities any day.
Dorm Life
There are no dorms at ACC.
Food and Dining
The food service department at ACC does a decent job with the food that is served on campus. They could improve things somewhat by giving students and faculty more options to chose from as well as healthier options.
What to do for fun
You can be as busy, or not, as you want to be at ACC. There are tons of clubs and organizations to be a part of as well as athletic events, plays, and musical events.
Bang for the buck
ACC is extremely affordable compared to universities. We pay a lot less for me to attend ACC vs. what we pay for my daughter to attend one of the states universities. You just can not get an education for less than what they charge. There are also lots of scholarships available to assist you with paying these fees.
Great for these types of students
ACC is a great place for someone who maybe cannot afford or those who wish to save a little money on classes before attending university or for those who are a bit timid about jumping into a large university but do want to pursue a degree. It allows you to get in and get started down a path towards your career and assists you with making that transition into college life.
Clubs and Activities
There are so many clubs and organizations to join or attend events held by those clubs/organizations.
Greek Life
Phi Theta Kappa, an honor student club, is the only greek life on campus.
Campus Safety
ACC is a very safe campus and this is a blessing to its students.

Am learning a lot
The teachers really know what they're doing and the classrooms are smaller than on a lot of large campuses so you can get individual attention from the teacher and learn even more.
Am enjoying being here
The student council provides plenty of activities on campus for relieving stress and having fun, while still leaving plenty of time for study.
Bang for the buck
This school is pretty inexpensive and has definitely given me my money's worth.
Tips for prospective students
Keep up with deadlines, and keep on your study schedule and you should do fine.
Great for these types of students
Students that would prefer an environment with less distraction.
