Great for these types of students

Great for students who like small classes who like one-on-one time with their professors. Great athletic department, and good connections to local businesses and locations for class trips and internships.

    Tips for prospective students

Make sure you keep up with your schoolwork, because the professors will make sure you have something to do most of time. Study, study, STUDY!!! Get to know your fellow students and faculty very well; this is a community-oriented campus, and it will only help to spend time with them.

    Bang for the buck

As great a campus as this is, the price is about average; not cheap, but not sky-high like the popular universities like Clemson or USC.

    Am enjoying being here

The faculty are always nice and willing to help out. The cultural impact is awesome; there are always sporting events to see or fun activities to take part in, as well as community projects to help give back.

    Am learning a lot

The teachers at AU not only challenge you intellectually, but they are always willing to help you outside of class whenever you need it.

AU is a great fit for those who are hard workers, love fun and friends and are willing to grow and face their fears. Come visit!

    Tips for prospective students

    1. Apply for scholarships early. 2. Get your grades up! Hard work does count when it comes to scholarships! Also, working hard now will prepare you for college. 3. Talk with the teachers of the major(s) you are considering. Make a list of what's important to you and discuss that with them. 4. Last, but definitely not least. VISIT THE CAMPUS! You will never know if you are meant to be at a school unless you go. Believe me, you will just know if its right for you.

    Bang for the buck

This school is one of the few private Christian schools that offers a lot of scholarships. Also, the quality of education, the beauty of the campus, and the overall positivity of the student body and faculty makes this a great buy. This is an educational experience that is hard to find.

    Am enjoying being here

The campus is beautiful with the big brick buildings all over campus and the green grassy front lawn where students socialize and play sports. It is also a campus you can feel safe at, because as a student body, we look out for each other. Its a very positive environment. The only reason this isn't five star is because if you do not have a car, there is not much you can do off campus because almost every restaurant and movie theater is about a 5-10 minute drive from campus. However, you will find a family at Anderson University and there are fun activities on campus that help you to bond with other AU Trojans.

    Am learning a lot

Not only do the teachers push you mentally in class, they are willing to help you with projects outside of class. They want you to succeed and will do what it takes to see you reach your goals and get closer to your calling. Opportunities to learn from working professionals are also given throughout the semester.

    Bang for the buck

While Anderson University may have a large sticker price, they make money become the last issue. They offer a wide variety of scholarship opportunities, many in different areas. The financial aid department is quick and easy to get what you need and get out so that you may finish other errands, or even study!

    Am enjoying being here

The teachers are very personable, which wants me to be in class. Anderson also provides a large variety of students to become acquainted with.

    Am learning a lot

This school has sent a lot of useful information in my direction. The best part of it all, is that it's not just educational information, but also real life information.

Great for these types of students

Anderson University is great for people who are mission minded and wanting to serve and show Christ's love to other people. Anderson has a lot of opportunities for you to grow in your faith, while also having a fun and memorable learning experience during your college career.

    Tips for prospective students

Talk to students who are pursuing degrees you are also interested in, and ask them what they enjoy most about Anderson University. The people here are very friendly and willing to help you if you have questions!! When I first came to Anderson, I had difficulties with the location of my classes and even going to the store because I am from out of state. Even though I did not know anyone, people were kind and willing to help me when I needed it. People's kindness and generosity are one of the main reasons I came to this school.

    Bang for the buck

While most colleges are extremely expensive and hard to accommodate financial aid, Anderson is wonderful with finding scholarships that will match your interests and provide some financial relief when it comes to paying for your degree.

    Am enjoying being here

Although Anderson is a small town, my friends and I have been on countless adventures. From snowball fights in the winter to mountain climbing and frisbee in the fall, we always find something to do! Anderson is a fabulous place for people who enjoy studying peacefully outside. The campus is truly beautiful and I have enjoyed studying and playing outside on Anderson University grounds.

    Am learning a lot

I am currently enrolled in the Visual and Performing Arts Department at AU, and I have loved every minute of it. The professors know me by name and have take time to get to know me. The class sizes are small, providing more attention from my professors and great learning experiences. The professors and administrators at Anderson University really invest in you not only in as a student, but as a maturing adult.

    Campus Safety

Usually quick to put out weather warnings and general information. Also quick to help you in situations of need.

    Clubs and Activities

There are so many clubs and events that I literally can't list them all. Be assured at Anderson there will be something for you.

Great for these types of students

    Christian students.

Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus

There are several annual events that continually draw many participants. One example is a search for the mascots sword, which is hidden all around campus.

    Bang for the buck

Anderson can be a little more pricy as its a private school. That being said, there is ample opportunity for scholarship that help offset the cost. The growth one can experience at Anderson I feel truly makes it worth it. Would be a 5 is they would lower tuition.

    What to do for fun

There are tons of activities led by student groups and School sponsored events. Anderson really generates a family atmosphere where its really hard to get lonely. Anderson also provides a downtown with a plethora of activities. There are also tons of parks around the school.

    Food and Dining

The food tends to be okay, but after a while it can get repetitive. The new student center is going to provide many more options for dining on campus. A lot of people eat off campus.

    Dorm Life

The Dorms tend to be much better for girls. After freshman year, there are a lot more options for guys to live on campus. I'd give this a four for girls on campus living and a two for Guys.

    Academic Rigor

Anderson Provides a great academic enrichment with teachers who are willing to work with you and are passionate in the student succeeding.

    Tips for prospective students

Anderson isn't a place to attend if one hopes to get the big college experience. Also, 8 semester Chapel attendances is mandatory so be prepared for that.

    In three sentences

Anderson is a great place for someone looking for a school that will provide a Christian family atmosphere. The school is continually growing and already ranks as a top private school in South Carolina. The university is a great place to really mature and grow as a Christian student.

    Campus Safety

The campus is very safe. Also if you lose your keys people usually turn them in, people are very honest

    Greek Life

    NONE

    Clubs and Activities

There are many clubs, most have to do with religion, some do not. Basketball is huge at AU and so is soccer.

Great for these types of students

Great for a person who wants individual attention in the classroom.

Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus

If a couple sits on the white benches together 3 times, they will get married before they leave AU, or right after.

    Bang for the buck

You get what you pay for. At AU you are paying for great teachers, good christian students, and a beautiful campus. The only problem students tend to complain about is the parking, but its not that bad.

    What to do for fun

Anderson is a beautiful little town. Everything fun is on Clemson Boulevard. Many students go to the park, or tan on the lawn, go to cookout, or the mall. At night time, the biggest thing to do is go to wild wings. During football season we go to Clemson games because we do not have football.

    Food and Dining

The Cafeteria has a variety of foods, if you do not like what they are serving you can always stick with a sandwich.

    Dorm Life

The Dorms are very old but they are kept clean and nice. Pratt doesn't have but 2 outlets in the room and no outlets in the bathroom.

    Academic Rigor

The teachers know what they are talking about. AU is known for the Education Major and the Interior Design Major. The Education Department Is Nationally Acredited

    Tips for prospective students

Make sure you keep your grades up. Don't fail any classes. You will get familiar with the computer labs and the cookout, because of late nights and printing. You will love it there.

    In three sentences

I Love Anderson. It is a small school full of people who care. The class sizes are perfect so you can get individual attention.

    Campus Safety

I felt very safe on campus.

Great for these types of students

    Serious learners. Dedicated Christians.

    Bang for the buck

I received scholarships from the University which has helped tremendously in my decision to attend. It won't cost that much more to attend than a state university. I hope to even win more scholarships throughout the summer!

    What to do for fun

We went to a sports event that was a lot of fun. I also went to an off campus restaurant with some of the students and had a great time.

    Food and Dining

I enjoyed the food and dining atmosphere while I was visiting Anderson.

    Dorm Life

I am looking forward to living on campus. The dorms seem well supervised and not overcrowded.

    Academic Rigor

I met with the professor in charge of my major and was very impressed that the class size will be small. I feel I will have a good relationship with the professors and when I need help will be able to receive it easily. They have many majors to choose from.

    Tips for prospective students

You will be impressed with the attention given to make your transition into college from high school. Visit the school while students are present. This helped me see there is a Christian active community on campus.

    In three sentences

I feel it will give me a quality education. The campus has character and is beautiful. The faculty, staff and students I have met are sincere with helping me succeed in my education.

    Am enjoying being here

AU students are the best. They are smart, warm,, friendly and fun to hang out with. I have made a lot of friends, which will last a lifetime. I also like that AU is not far from my hometown, making it easy to go home when I like.

    Am learning a lot

After my acceptance last year, AU was voted one of the top 100 schools in the US. WOW sums it up. The professors are wonderful and the classes are preparing me so I can adapt to the real world once I graduate.

Great for these types of students

The school is well-known for their Education, Interior Design, and Business majors. The other majors are well developed too but this school is great for anyone in those main majors. The school is also great for people looking for a way to celebrate and show their Christian faith.

    Tips for prospective students

Go to the Expo at the beginning of the year, it lets you become acquainted with the clubs on campus and some of the local businesses. Don't be afraid to go out of your comfort level and talk to someone new, everyone here is ready to be your friend.

    Bang for the buck

Anderson was rated one of the best colleges in the southeast not too long ago. As a private school, tuition is on the high side but the people in the financial aid office are very willing to work with you and when the wonderful academics are taken into consideration it's a very good buy indeed.

    Am enjoying being here

This is a truly beautiful campus and it's a very safe place to live. The people here are all super friendly and there are clubs on all sorts of topics for you to join.

    Am learning a lot

The professors here are absolutely amazing. The professors are interested in you not only academically but also personally. Teachers really know their fields, most of the teachers I've had the past year all have doctorates.

Great for these types of students

Students who are looking for a Christian based college that is friendly. Also good for students who want the comfort of home without actually being at your home!

    Tips for prospective students

I would recommend checking out the campus before you attend. Make sure you sit it on a class so you can see how friendly the professors are.

    Bang for the buck

This is definitely worth the money. It's a pretty expensive school. However, they give out a lot of scholarships and financial aid. The admissions department spends a lot of time with you. They help you get every possible scholarship you can!

    Did enjoy being here

I ended up transferring from Anderson University my Freshman year. However, this wasn't due to the campus. The campus itself was great. It's small enough to feel comfortable and everyone is polite. The cafeteria food was okay except on the weekends. Kingsley and the Village are definitely the best dorm rooms. I ended up transferring because I switched to a major they didn't offer.

    Did learn a lot

The professor at Anderson University are very helpful. Each of my professors took the time out of their day to answer any questions I had. Great office hours and great attitudes!

Great for these types of students

Any student can find a nitch at AU. We have a wonderful Center for Student Success that goes out of their way to help you if you have a physical or learning disability. Many of my friends would not have done well at any other college, but they were able to thrive here because of that help. Students wanting a Christianity degree should come here too. We have the best Christianity department in the state. The professors are brilliant, kind, experienced, well-rounded, excellent teachers, and firmly grounded in the Word of God. They are not content with just an in-class relationship; they seek out opportunities to help students outside of class and to just get to know them.

    Tips for prospective students

Get your application in early even if you are undecided because you can earn so amazing first-come-first-serve scholarships simply by having paperwork turned in. Visit us over night. It gives you a true feel of the life on campus and gives you peers to ask the embarrassing questions that you don't really want to ask the tour guide. Enjoy senior year! Don't get so stressed about colleges that you miss senior year. Just make the decision to come to AU, and sit back and relax. ;)

    Bang for the buck

Obviously, it would be nice if college was less expensive. But the education and experience that you get at AU compared to colleges that are similarly priced is extraordinary. If you paid the same amount somewhere else, the dorms would be in terrible condition, the food would not be as varied, and the professors would not be as educated. Anywhere you go is going to be too expensive, but AU is a wonderful wonderful deal considering the quality of education you get plus all the food and living areas.

    Am enjoying being here

I love the AU environment! The majority of students genuinely want to be here and that increases the enjoyment of everyone. The feel on campus is very relaxed and family-like. I know everyone says that, but at AU the students, faculty, and administration go out of their way to love on each other. God is the center of the school, but there is no legalism to bind you down. It helps to promote a genuineness in the lives of Christians and enables the lost to feel more comfortable and yet still be exposed to the Gospel. I have worked at another college, stayed at four over night, and visited the campuses of many others, and I can honestly say that AU is the most beautiful and has the most unique atmosphere. The dorms are wonderful and actually feel like home too. Though the cafeteria does not always have the best food, they have a wide variety of options, so you never go hungry. Food for Thought is also a convenient choice for the student in a hurry. The library is huge and well stocked (at least in the Christianity, history, and education sections; I have had little contact with the other sections). It would be nice if the cafeteria hours were longer, but on the plus side it provides a great place to hang out with friends. The ladies in the cafeteria also know many of the students by name and ask about their personal lives while giving them food.

    Am learning a lot

The professors here, especially the ones within your major, care about your success outside of the classroom, but they also know the importance of you learning all you can in the classroom. They pour into the lessons to be sure that you are learning the most you can in the semester that you sit in their class. General Education classes that I didn't want to take have helped me in the classes that are vital for my future career. I have been challenged to learn, yet not overwhelmed to the point where success was out of reach. AU has given me a desire to learn more and further my education beyond college.

    Tips for prospective students

Stay on top of your schoolwork once you get here, and give high school your best.

AU is expensive, but it was recently listed as one of America's top college buys. The financial aid is immense.

    Am enjoying being here

AU is everything I could have hoped for and more. It is well worth the money invested.

    Am learning a lot

The faculty and staff at AU are some of the best of the best, especially in the Department of Christian Studies.

the dorms are small and old but they are clean and since it is a small campus, they are close to everything. the r.a.s here are also very invested in community building which makes the halls fun to live on. and since they are all single sex dorms, the nature of the hall ways is very casual and fun.

    Academic Rigor

this place is challenging but most, if not all of the teachers, really seem interested in their students' success. they seem to love their jobs and they are rooting for the students to succeed.

    Tips for prospective students

there are a lot of rules so if you want to party a lot, this is not really the place to be. this place values education and morality above anything else and the strict rules are instituted for the purposes of enforcing those values.

    In three sentences

i love everything about this school from the christian values, to the location, to the size, to the high level of education. this campus felt like home to me the minute i walked on it and i have grown so much spiritually, psychologically, developmentally, and academically since that moment. i would recommend this school to anyone looking for a positive learning environment in a small school.

hang out with friends, play frisbee, ect. they hold student events which are fun for those who live on campus. other than that, there isn't that much to do. they are building a future student center that is suppose to hold a lot of promise.

    Food and Dining

it depends on the days. then again, some days are not as good as others. the bad thing is that their isn't a formula to guessing which days has good food and which days are bad. usually friday and saturday are the worst days because the school realizes that some students go home for the weekend. therefore the cafeteria gathers what left overs they had for the rest of the week and put it all together. they do serve good food when there are tours going on during the semester. those days are good.

    Food and Dining

the food is terrible. anytime someone asks me what i would change about anderson it is the food without a doubt. most of it is cold and you only have a one hour time frame to come to the cafe or else you missed a meal. they make you have a meal plan freshman year so there is no staying away from it.

Great for these types of students

    -Self-motivators -Optimistic -Christian

    Bang for the buck

I think college altogether costs too much. However, Anderson is not a cheap college, especially since it is a private university and the grounds are so carefully looked after. I would not be here if I did not have a scholarship! It is a great school, just a bit high in price.

    What to do for fun

    1. Walk around campus! 2. There's almost always someone in the Fine Arts building. They don't mind company usually. 3. Clemson is only 1/2 hour away. 4. Eat at the Corner Bagel for breakfast or lunch. 5. Go on a picnic on campus or at the little scenic pond nearby.

    Food and Dining

They have really improved the variety of food and the setup in the main dining hall since last semester. Most people tend to complain, but 95% there's something there that you will be willing to eat. The salad and pizza place has a wonderful salad bar, and the pizzamakers try many different toppings instead of just pepperoni/sausage/cheese.

    Dorm Life

I live in a pretty quiet dorm, but I like that. We have hall events once a month. I just wish I knew/communicated with all the people on my hall a little better.

    Academic Rigor

Don't be afraid to ask questions, even when you think they are no worth asking! 3. Do note that the administration here does do a lot to keep up appearances. Not everything is as perfect as it seems, but it's also not as bad as this sentence sounds.

    In three sentences

Anderson is a wonderful college that is so friendly and welcoming! The campus is beautiful, and the students are, too. The faculty is very interactive with the students and are willing to help you even outside of class -- and will even just stop to chat.

I have never felt unsafe on campus. Campus safety comes around and does rounds and they are always willing to help you. If there was a problem, you could go to their office or call them.

    Greek Life

We do not have Greek life on campus. Because of our size, I feel like having Greek life would turn our campus into a bunch of cliques. The nice thing about having them at a big school is that it brings a huge group of people together in smaller settings, but we don't have that problem at Anderson.

    Clubs and Activities

There are so many ways to get involved at AU. Campus ministries, student activities, student government, residence life are just a few of them. Student Activities puts on a lot of events to bring people together.

    Food and Dining

There is something for everyone to eat because it's all about preference. There's a place where you can get homecooked meals, salad bar, pizza, grilled meals, and a coffee shop. The food is not like mom's meals, but it is good.

    Dorm Life

There is not a bad dorm on campus. It is all about preference. The locations are all good and RA's plan lots of fun activities.

    Academic Rigor

It depends on what your major is, but all of the majors are manageable. People spend a lot of time in the library working on stuff, but that is what college is for. I'm an Education major and we have stuff to do but it is fun stuff, which is a good sign.

    Tips for prospective students

Learn how to manage your time especially between social events and academics. Determine early on if you want to study abroad because I want to do that next fall, but I started the process late so I'm running into some road blocks. Don't worry about being at college and making friends.

    In three sentences

I have loved my experience here at Anderson University so far because of the individual attention you get in the classrooms, the Christian atmosphere, and the campus. What to do for fun

Anderson is a rather small Southern town that does not have very much to do. Going to the movies are very popular, as well as going to dinner; There are a good many dinner options. Football games are big in the South. Clemson University is only 25 minutes away, and the University of South Carolina is only an hour and a half away. Many students enjoy going to those football games, especially the rival game between the Gamecocks and the Tigers. We have many activities on campus that are always fun. We have a Spring and Winter formal dance where the girls and guys can get dressed up and dance the night away. Athletic events are always a popular place to find students hanging out. Basketball and soccer are the two sports that Anderson University are known for. We also have many volunteer opportunities on and around campus including a benefit for our very own cancer research center at the university.

    Food and Dining

The food at AU is not all that great, unfortunately. There are very few options in the cafeteria. The university has plans to build a new student center with outside vendors and many more options for food, but it will not be ready until the year after I graduate :(

    Dorm Life

My freshman year I lived in a dorm and shared a room with two other girls. The three of us shared a bathroom with three other girls. The six of us lived on a hallway with 24 other girls; can you say chaos? Although very chaotic at times, I loved it! It was like having 30 sisters! Many times we did activities together as a hallway, and we had so much fun. This past year, four of my friends and I were given the opportunity to live in a ministry house. The house is on campus still; it was located right behind campus. We could still easily walk to class and to other areas of campus. We had a blast in the house; it was so much more cozy than the dorms. Although we loved the house, we're rooming in dorms again next year. We miss the community, chaos, and excitement of the dorm.

    Academic Rigor

I am a Psychology student, and the professors in the Psychology department are extremely challenging. As I progress in my degree, I have found the classes to increase in rigor. I spend a lot of time studying and writing to prepare for assignments and tests. I love when my hard work pays off!

I haven't heard of any problems with them and they check the buildings regularly at night for students staying late at night, especially art students in the studio!

    Clubs and Activities

    There's alot to chose from!

    Bang for the buck

Theres so many great scholarship and grant opportunities here that really help afford a private Christian college.

    What to do for fun

There's a bunch of shops and a mall less than 5 minutes from the school. Lots of places to go and alot of options. Whether your an outdoors type of person or shop till you drop, it's the perfect location.

    Food and Dining

The food is good, most people complain about it but there are 3 dining options and I think you'll find them satisfactory. The cafeteria is always open, but there is food for thought, a pizza and salad bar, and the grill, which has deliscious burgers, fries, and much more.

    Dorm Life

Everyone has a different experience with dorm life so its hard to say, but overall it's awesome and you get to make some great friends, including your roommates!

    Academic Rigor

There are students who say it is too easy, while others may struggle to pass the class they're in, but overall it comes down to you. If you put your best effort in your work you'll get the grades you want. I actually did better academically in college than high school; I definitely had more work, but I tried harder and did awesome.

    Tips for prospective students

If you like a smaller, homier feel than this college is for you. Its in a beautiful location, and there's alot to do around the area.

    Campus Safety

They patrol campus by car and on foot all the time. Every time I leave my dorm room I usually see them at some point on the way to wherever I'm going. I feel that Anderson is a safe campus.

    Greek Life

This is fairly non-existent I think.

    Clubs and Activities

They have a wide variety of clubs, and many teachers will give extra credit for going to these clubs if you mention it to them. This is great especially when it can push you from a B to an A. Whether you are into science, math, sports, or drama there is a club at Anderson for you. I'm in several clubs and society's and the only complaint I have is that sometimes there meetings are scheduled during the same time period so I have to choose. Clubs are great because you meet and learn about people that you may not get to see much outside of the club, great for making connections in school and in the job world.

Great for these types of students

If your someone who likes for something to constantly be going on then Anderson is not for you. Anderson is a very laid back school. You make lots of personal connections at Anderson. Anderson is also a very friendly school, so if you don't like people that are nice for no reason then Anderson is not for you. Anderson University is located in the south where we still believe in southern hospitality and you will definitely get that here. If you're going to college to party then Anderson isn't for you. Don't get me wrong there are parties, not on campus because it's alcohol free, but as a whole don't expect to come and party. Anderson University is for the students who want to get a great quality education in a Christian atmosphere. Anderson is a small school, and I personally like that. There are usually around 20 students in a class, even in your freshman general education classes. Anderson University is a school designed so that the professor knows the students by name and they truly care about the success of the students. So if you like the teacher knowing your name and caring about you then Anderson is for you. For example, if your out sick for a class or two the professors do notice it - don't be surprised if you get an email from them wondering where or how you are. They want to see you succeed so if you do get sick they will do whatever they can to help you catch up as long as you're willing to work too. Anderson is truly a great school.

Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus

As a freshman you walk under the school archway to commence your learning at Anderson, and at your graduation you walk under the same archway to end your time at Anderson. There are white, old swings on the front of campus. It is said that if a couple sits in these swings three times then they are destined to be married.

    Bang for the buck

Their price is very reasonable, I think, if you take advantage of their scholarships. The financial aid office workers are so nice and are willing to work with you to help you find additional funds or help set up a payment plan.

    What to do for fun

All the sporting events are free so I love to go to those. They have weekend getaways such as skiing in Virginia - no these events aren't usually free, but they are very reasonable. Anderson is a fairly small campus so you meet lots of people. A lot of times we just hang out and play games or watch movies or get a volleyball game going on the front lawn to pass time.

    Food and Dining

Some people think that it is awful, but I don't think so. You have a great variety every meal. The Caf always has home cooked meals, a specialty station, and a sandwich line. The Grill has all your burger and hot dog needs taken care of. Food for Thought has pizza and pasta. So, basically all your taste bud needs are pretty well taken care of, but sometimes it gets old or the home cooked meal isn't so great and in that case there are many restaurants close to campus to choose from.

    Dorm Life

The new girl dorms, the Boulevards, are wonderful. They have community bathrooms and they're great. I was really skeptical of having community bathrooms but it's great once you get used to it. It has a 3:1 girls to bathroom ratio compared to the older girls dorms (Denmark and Pratt) that have a 6:1 bathroom ratio. If you're a guy then you aren't in the best of luck because the guys dorms are not as nice as the girls unless you pay extra to live in your own room in the Village.

    Academic Rigor

I personally think that the classes are not very hard at Anderson but it is really all about time management and work ethic. I took AP classes in high school and I think that they were harder than the classes I currently take at Anderson. Staying on pace with classes is the main thing; in many classes you will cover a chapter or two each time you meet.

    Tips for prospective students

Anderson University has so many scholarship but you have to get them early. Look at perspective colleges very diligently in your junior year so that you can just focus on applying your senior year. Don't avoid or ignore deadlines because colleges take no mercy; missing a deadline can cost you thousands of dollars. Also, committing to schools early can give you a few extra thousand dollars.

    In three sentences

Anderson University has been great for me! Everyone is nice, friendly, and willing to help you in any way that they can. Anderson University was an easy transfer for me from high school life into college life.

    Food and Dining

There are several dining venues on campus. Food for Thought offers Italian cuisine, such as pizza and pastas; The Grille offers American cuisine, such as hamburgers, hotdogs, chicken sandwhiches, and bird dogs; and the cafeteria offers southern homecooked meals in a buffet style.

    Dorm Life

Dorm life is very interactive for students at Anderson University. Regular hall and community events are arranged by Residence Life Directors and Advisors. Those RDs and RAs are also a great support system for students. They are always willing to help in any way possible.

    Academic Rigor

Anderson University is a very academically challenging institution. My particular major, Interior Design, is especially challenging. You are thrown into major specific classes in your first semester. This really is a great tool for students. It allows you to know early on if you are in the right department. If not, you are able to find the right area for yourself early in your academic careeer.

    Tips for prospective students

Prospective students should jump into their Freshman year with excitement! Education is a serious matter, but Anderson University does a great job providing students with an outlet for fun. Student Activities are always working to get students engaged with one another outside of the classroom.

    In three sentences

Anderson University is a four year university rooted in Christian principles. With a relatively small population of students, you are not just a number to your professors. You have the opportunity to get to know your fellow classmates and your professors on a personal level.

AU is in a historical district in sleepy Anderson, so there is little to no crime to worry about.

    Greek Life

    None.

    Bang for the buck

They'll tell you all about how AU is one of the US's Top College Buys and it really seems to be. They are generous with scholarships and the Financial Aid office will help you out as much as possible with lining up other funding. You're also getting a really wonderful education in a small classroom setting where you're guaranteed to get personal attention from professors.

    What to do for fun

Anderson is a growing community and new businesses are coming to the area. We recently got a Starbucks and Cook Out, and a Krispy Kreme has been announced for the area. Student Activities also plans events for every week or two. Some of the big annual events are wonderful, like 80s Skate Night and Homecoming Week, and some more often occurring events like Open Mic Nights and others encourage a more low-key atmosphere.

    Food and Dining

The food can sometimes be a little questionable, but is sometimes really great! I think that's to be expected at any school, though.

    Dorm Life

It can be a little difficult adjusting to some of the rules, but they really are in place to help students concentrate and enjoy living on campus (such as RSVP). AU has new dorms popping up every year, offering large, new spaces for students.

    Academic Rigor

I don't have much to compare it to, but from talking to high school friends who have gone in different directions, I know I am getting a thorough, rigorous education from AU. It seems the majority of students graduate with either full-time employment or grad school lined up.

    Tips for prospective students

Tour the campus and classrooms and make sure it is the right school for you - not everyone will love the small, intimate feel of this college. Staying overnight with a current student (during an All Access event) is a great way to experience the student life, sit in on some classes and attend some events.

    In three sentences

AU is a wonderful school where everyone is welcomed and the professors really seem to care. There are a lot of opportunities to get involved on campus with different organizations and Student Activities really works hard to provide some fun events. AU has a small, but beautiful campus and is just a great place to go to school.

AU is small! If you're looking for that large student body and football games, this may not be the place for you. If you love people and small groups, you will thrive here!

Anderson has an extremely friendly campus. It's beautiful year round. God is doing some amazing things through the students here!

    Campus Safety

Our campus safety truly takes care of our students and are on top of anything suspicious happening on campus. We are always notified immediately if there is a situation we need to be aware of. If you arrive late on campus and have to park far from your dorm, campus safety will be happy to pick you up and take you where you need to go!

Great for these types of students

This school is great for students who desire a small school with small class sizes. We have a small campus, which makes it easy to get from place to place. This is also a school for students who have a desire to follow God and grow deeper in their Christian faith. For students who desire to learn and form a great educational background, AU can give you that opportunity.

Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus

Because we are a Christian university, we have chapel every Wednesday at 10:10 in the morning. During chapel time, there is a time of singing and different speakers who come throughout the year. We are required to attend eight chapels per semester. However, we have speakers and organizations that come that are truly a joy to hear from.

    What to do for fun

There are various events that take place through the year on campus, such as concerts, hall events, worship opportunities and student activity planned events. One of my favorite events are the drive in movie at the beginning of the school year and the tacky Christmas sweater party that occurs before christmas break. There are many opportunities to get involved in campus life throughout the semester.

    Food and Dining

The food on campus is not superb, but there are many options around campus. In the dining hall, you will find home cooked meals with a choice of one of two meats, vegetables, potatoes and soups. We also have a sandwich bar, a salad bar, and a section that offers an alternate food choice. In food for thought, you will find pizza along with a salad bar and occasionally different types of sandwiches, pastas and calzones. In the grill, you have a choice of a hamburger, a grilled chicken sandwich, a grilled cheese and a hot dog. Along with this you can get chips or fries.

    Dorm Life

While many of our dorms are older, we do have dorms that have just recently been built. Within the older storms, some remodels have been made in order to provide students will a suitable living condition. Within our dorms, we have various events to meet others living on our hall and spend time hanging out with one another. While dorm life is not like home, it has been a great experience and I have enjoyed getting to know new people.

    Academic Rigor

As a part of the school of education, we are very well educated on what it means to be a teacher and the skills we must use in and out of the classroom. Knowing various students from different programs of study, I have found that our university is keen on instilling the necessary skills needed for each program of study.

    Tips for prospective students

For all students who are planning to attend Anderson University, be aware that this is not like any other college. The administration are dedicated to being certain that you receive a deep background in your field of study while instilling Christian values through their actions and teaching. When entering AU, be sure to get involved in ministries and clubs that occur on campus. Student activities also hold various events that allow you to take part in enjoying the campus and friends. This is a great way to meet new people! Understand that it is your duty to complete all work and do the best that you can. However, the professors are willing to help you strive and succeed to the best of your ability. Do not be afraid to ask anyone for help!

    In three sentences

Anderson University provides a safe, loving and friendly atmosphere for all students. The professors are extremely willing to help each and every student and are knowledgable in their field of study. The Christian atmosphere gives the university a remarkable touch as lifes are changed and an educational foundation is built.

Great for these types of students

Anderson University is great for a lot of different students; however I think it fits the best with students who are devout Christians, looking to strengthen their faith life.

    What to do for fun

Anderson University offers so many extracurricular activities, including intramural sports, various clubs/programs for different majors, choirs, praise and worship sessions, and so much more!

    Food and Dining

Honestly, the food was the only thing I wasn't so fond of about Anderson University. It is definitely edible, but I guess i'm spoiled from being in the south. ;) The dining employees were very friendly though!

    Dorm Life

The dorm rooms are fairly small, but that should be expected at a school. The dorm I stayed in during student orientation was very comfy and I loved it!

    Academic Rigor

I will begin taking classes during the fall, so I cannot comment on the academic aspect of the university.

    Tips for prospective students

I suggest that you set goals when it comes to scholarships. Anderson University offers several scholarships that can be obtained fairly easily and they will cut down the cost of tuition.

    What to do for fun

The University hosts events all the time for students to do, many times they are suggestions from students. They have drive-in movies, shows, campus wide games and more. At the beginning of the year they always have a huge bingo game where a huge number of students pack into an auditorium and play bingo for college supplies, food, gift cards, coffee, etc. Again, it all comes back to how much fun you're looking to have. If you are shut in your room all the time, don't expect to have a blast, but there is always a group of students or faculty on campus doing something fun, big or small.

    Food and Dining

Food and Dining is mediocre on campus. That said, every semester they work diligently to improve everything slightly. Even this past year, a dining hall was completely re-done and is now pretty outstanding compared to how it was before. Even if you get sick of the food here, there are a lot of places only a few minutes walk or drive away with decent food on a college budget.

    Dorm Life

Dorm life is really what you make of it. Keeping your door closed all the time and never leaving the room will probably give you a poor dorm life experience. Anderson makes it really difficult to be shut in your room, as they are always having dorm or floor activities to do. When there is not something directly related to the University is going on, it becomes easy to make your own fun with the pool tables, ping pong tables, and televisions they provide.

    Academic Rigor

Academics will definitely be a test here. However, Anderson really eases incoming freshmen into college work and understands that students are making the transition from high school to college. Overall, academics can vary from professor to professor, but the fact that students are never taught by teachers assistants, and that Anderson houses some of the most advanced teaching technologies was a big factor in my college decision.

    Tips for prospective students

Make getting a campus visit a priority. While on campus, an overview of all the buildings, and a more detailed look at the places important to an intended major can really help make a decision. The tours are led by students, making questions about student life and dorms more natural and the answers come from experience. Another tip is to not be scared away by the overall price tag. Over 90 percent of students receive financial aid, which can dramatically reduce the amount of tuition and housing. It never hurts to apply and see what you can get.

    In three sentences

Anderson University is the perfect fit for any student looking for a school on the smaller side in the southeast. This school treats students like adults, while providing a Christian environment for them to thrive in. The faculty is personable and approachable, creating a comfortable academic atmosphere.

    What to do for fun

Anderson is the type of place that you get to make your own fun. It's a suitcase campus so often times the campus empties out on the weekends. This opens up a lot of fun things to do on the halls and plenty to do in the area with Clemson right down the road. If you and your friends plan on sticking around on the weekends there is no limit to the fun you can have.

    Food and Dining

Definitely the weakest pillar of Anderson. I suppose you have to have something to complain about right?

    Dorm Life

You'll most definitely find people you click with and spend a LOT of time with them.

    Academic Rigor

Depending on the level of rigor in your high school, Anderson will most likely be about the same but you'll have more expected time of you outside of class.

    Tips for prospective students

Apply for financial aid. They're very open and willing to help you attend here in whatever way they can.

    In three sentences

Anderson University is a small, quaint, wonderful place to spend your college years. Whether it's the loving and caring staff, to the incredible tight-knit student body, Anderson will quickly become your home more so than your college. The Christian life is infused in everything from the classroom to the campus activities in a way that is fluid and not fake.

    Campus Safety

Campus safety at AU is fantastic. They are truly committed to ensuring every student's safety, with patrolling the borders of campus at night to sending out e-mails if there is anything that students should keep an eye out for.

    What to do for fun

The Student Activities office is constantly hard at work planning fun events for students! Recently, there have been fairs on the Intramural fields, weekend retreats, and Homecoming events with bonfires (s'mores and hotdogs included for free!). However, if you really decide you'd like to head out of town for a bit, Greenville boasts tons to do, or you can head out to one of the lakes near by! There is always something to do nearby, whether during the week or the weekend!

    Food and Dining

Anderson houses three separate dining facilities. The first is the generic cafeteria, which can occasionally be a little disappointing, but overall is pretty good! Certainly lots of options. Second is the Grille, which is somewhat of an on-the-go atmosphere for those days where you only have 15 minutes to catch a bite to eat. Lastly is Food for Thought, which has recently been re-done to house three separate styles of cuisine: Mexican, Deli sandwich and an outstanding Salad Bar.

    Dorm Life

Dorm life at AU is certainly on the rise. They've recently constructed brand new residence halls that are very clean and comfortable. However, if you're a fan of vintage dorms, Anderson is also home to 100 year old buildings that differ slightly from one room to the next-- with a ton of personality! Also, each hall is assigned to a Resident Advisor, who is carefully selected by Resident Life! These are truly some of the best people you'll meet on campus; they truly invest in their residents!

    Academic Rigor

Anderson University has a pretty hearty curriculum. They stay true to their vision to cultivate students who are sound in education and faith. Not only will you gain knowledge, you'll gain your own perspective for defending your knowledge too!

    Tips for prospective students

Absolutely make the time to visit! AU has wonderful Student Ambassadors that tour you around campus and answer any questions you might have!

    In three sentences

Anderson University is a perfect match for anyone who is a little apprehensive about the transition from high school to college! It's a small, but growing, campus with professors who make time to know you as a student and help you with your academic endeavors. Not to mention, AU has a close-knit community of students that grow together not just academically, but spiritually!

    What to do for fun

Anderson University is located close to downtown Anderson, as well as Clemson Boulevard. In these two locations, there are many places to eat and socialize at, as well as shop. There is also bowling and skating on Clemson Boulevard, and Anderson is close to Greenville, which also has many fun things to do.

    Food and Dining

There are three different restaurants to choose from on campus. The cafeteria, that serves every meal, is my least favorite out of the three. Food for Thought, which is my favorite, offers salads, Mexican, and sandwiches. The Grill, another option, offers hamburgers, hot dogs, and chicken sandwiches.

    Dorm Life

Though dorm life requires some adjusting, once you spend a week in your dorm with your roommate, things seem to fall into place. You become friends with your roommate, suite mates, and hall mates. Activities are provided in the dorms, as well, to form a sense of community among the residence halls.

    Academic Rigor

Anderson University is recognized for their academic rigor, especially in the Education department. Most classes do require a lot of each student, but once the class is finished, you feel as though you have gained a sufficient amount of knowledge from it. The effort you put into it produces positive results, that reflect in your grade and overall academic self-esteem.

    Tips for prospective students

There aren't many tips that I can provide prospective students, other than to apply for as many scholarships as possible, since Anderson University is a private university. Also, upon your arrival, be open to forming relationships with others in your major, in your classes, and in your dorms. Being open to new activities is also necessary during your first semester.

    In three sentences

Anderson University is a place that ensures excellence in all areas for students to excel in their field of study. An excess of individual growth occurs here and these areas of growth include academics, social life, and spiritual well-being. Overall, Anderson University is an exceptional school to attend and I am confident in the efforts of my professors and my overall education so that I can achieve my dream of becoming a prepared and outstanding teacher in the future.

    Greek Life

There is no greek life in Anderson University

Great for these types of students

This school is great for athletes, religious crowd and the theatre department in this school is pretty big so I can tell you that those kids fit in pretty well.

    What to do for fun

There are not that many activities to do in Anderson but like a coach told me once, if you're bored, you're boring so make things happen. But among the things you can do on or off campus is go to the movies, go bowling, go to the lake if the weather is nice, go to cookout (very favoured place to go to with the student body), play pool on campus, watch movies with friends and just hang out. It doesn't have to be complicated, the simplest things can be the most entertaining.

    Food and Dining

Anderson has 3 types of dining halls. First is the cafeteria where they serve all kinds of different meals everyday which always includes a salad bar, and that is where you eat breakfast. Then there is Food for Thought, there you can get Mexican food like burritos, tacos etc, salads with a potato or a soup and also wraps and sandwiches. This is very popular among the students. Lastly we have the Grille. There you can get hot dogs, hamburgers, sandwiches and fries.

    Dorm Life

The dorm rooms are different between buildings but they all look nice and inviting. Some dorms share bathrooms with the whole hall and they are cleaned everyday, and some dorms share a bathroom between 2-4 rooms. The dorm rooms have a lot of space and are very open. You can chose what you want to do with the beds, if you want to stack them up to bunk beds and make some more room, or keep them on the floor. All dorms are located on campus and in a close walking distance to all other buildings of the school.

    Academic Rigor

I am a biology major and I can say for a fact that the academics are challenging but in a good way. You shouldn't want easy because that won't get you anywhere. The quality of the academics is exceptional. The classes are small so the teachers will start to know you and they do that willingly. They will strive for you to succeed and provide you with help if you need it.

    Tips for prospective students

As an international student, coming to Anderson University was a big decision for me which I am glad I took. Everyone greeted me so nicely and welcomed me to the university and made everything so much easier because going to college can be difficult and stressful. Now that I have been here for almost a year I can truly say that everyone is so friendly and open and I feel really good here. I now that's how current and future Anderson University students are feeling and are going to feel. The advice I would give to a future student is to be prepared because college is not like high school, you are going to have to put in work. But relax as well, life isn't about locking yourself up and read all nights, that will just put extra weight on your shoulders. The student center in Anderson University has a lot of different activities to offer for us the students.

The art department is top notch! I've met some wonderful kids within that department, experienced rigorous teaching, and have been pushed in the right the direction. But outside of the art department, I would not endorse the university.
