    Tips for prospective students

Find what's right for you! AACC offers in-class, online, and hybrid classes year-long.

    Bang for the buck

Very cheap, transferable credits, especially if you live (and/or plan to attend a 4-year college) in-state.

Great for these types of students

Those of you willing to learn, those of you hungry for knowledge, those of you that don't have the money to spend of a real college, this is as close as you can get to one without being four year. It's a moderatecollege really geared towards anyone who really wants to come.

    Tips for prospective students

This college has the kind of community feel that you might get in a high school, but grow up and act like adults, not high schoolers. I mean, have fun, be happy, but be mature. Nothing ruins a day at college than thinking you can still goof off but you learn pretty quick you really can't.

    Bang for the buck

I think this college has a wonderful value. Most professors are experts in their field, and they care about their students, which motivates the students to do better. There's a huge variety of available classes, without having to walk three football fields to get from class to class.

    Am enjoying being here

The campus is a medium campus as far as colleges go, but none of the classes are too far apart to get to. Well maybe the Annexes. Even though AACC is a community college, the teachers really care about their students, and that's a plus for me. If I had a teacher, and I'm being honest here, if I had a teacher that didn't care about me, I'd start to slack. They really push the envelope, and that's a good thing. Also, there's good opportunities in extracurricular activities too. There's anime/gaming/Japanese clubs, outdoors/environmental clubs, and you can even join one of the many musical or theatrical productions here, like jazz band, orchestra (full and string), concert band, and opera, as well as various forms of dancing and plays from famous, and not so famous, playwrights.

    Am learning a lot

There are many classes you can take in a wide range of subjects, and most of the professors here are experts in their field. For example, I took Bio 101; basic class, something to get out of the way, right? Well, my professor knew so many things, and about half of those things weren't even in the book! The lab was great too, we got to do hands on work on DNA sequencing and watched meiosis and mitosis right on the screen to see the difference. I've taken also ceramics and martial arts there. Master Sherman, my martial arts instructor, didn't just make us go through the exercises that every martial artist knows and helped us with learning different ways to defend ourselves that you can't learn in a Karate class alone.

    Campus Safety

There's always police officers patrolling the school, ready to jump into action

    Bang for the buck

I would say that I'm definitely getting my money's worth with this school.

    What to do for fun

There are many fun activities to do here for fun, each building has a few bulletin boards where you can find many free activities!

    Food and Dining

The food is fantastic! Always fresh too!

    Academic Rigor

The classes I'm currently taking really open my eyes on each subject!

    Tips for prospective students

Don't be afraid to apply, it's a community college so there isn't much of a chance of you not getting accepted.

    In three sentences

AACC is a great choice if you still haven't decided what to do or if you want to get in a few credits to transfer to a university! They have a wide range of classes to take and programs to full-fill any of your wishes. Applying is easy and quick and the classes are so inexpensive!

    Campus Safety

There is plenty of campus safety. I normally pass at least three officers on my walk to classes and you will always see them in their cars, or on bikes riding around campus. The campus police's nuumber is posted everywhere so if you every need it there is never a chance of not finding it. And if you can find it in all of the parking lots there are big blue columns with big red buttons if you ever need help and cannot find the campus security number.

    Greek Life

No greek life, that i know about.

Great for these types of students

Any types of students really. you can alwyas find your nieche and people who enjoy the same things yopu do and they never judge you.

    Bang for the buck

Reasonably priced and thousands of classes to choose from. I take about 4 to 6 classes per semester and it only costs me any where from $1,300- $1,500. Varrying on the classes you take and how many.

    What to do for fun

Not only are there an array of clubs and societies to join, but there is always something going on for everyones different interests.

    Food and Dining

Food is wonderful is is always prepared daily and there is never anything stale or sour.

    Dorm Life

    No dormatories at AACC

    Academic Rigor

All of the courses are very rigorous, but they are not challenging. Even theough the classes can be difficult at times the professors are always willing to help you succed.

    Tips for prospective students

Deffinately look into which professors your taking classes with. Most of the professors are phenominal but there are a handful of teachers that are not the best. So try to look into that before signing up so you canhave the best possible learning experience possible without the hassle of trying to comprhend what the professor wants because it is never specifically explained.

    In three sentences

AACC is great. Not only is is close to home but it is extremely affordable, and all of the instructors want to help you in accomplishing your degree.

    Tips for prospective students

You can take classes here while in high school as well to get further in the college years. Go visit the school while in high school and get a jump on what you want to do in college early. Visit their website or see an advisor in person.

School is free for me but in general, community college is cheap anyway and all my classes will transfer to UMBC. I'm taking the same curriculum for 5 times less the price. I don't get the benefit of staying on campus but it worked for me because I needed the time to mature.

    Am enjoying being here

I love the campus. I work here as well through financial aid. The school is well diverse. I joined different groups and am making friends accordingly. No one has been rude and the staff are always respectful whether they know you or not. Parking is accessible. The mapping of the school is well displayed. I've never gotten lost. There are an abundance of events put on my the Student Union which engages all the different ages.

    Am learning a lot

The teachers at AACC have been very helpful so far although I tend to learn alot on my own. I would encourage any high schoolers to pay close attention in English as far as writing papers. Teachers expect students to already have the fundamentals down. They don't really explain what they want but they expect for you to know. If you take any science or math, keep your notes. College teachers don't like to review old material. Besides that, they will willingly answer any questions you ask.

    Campus Safety

The campus safety is excellent on this campus. There is nothing that goes on, on campus, that everyone does not know about. Communication is very effective, with notifications through email, text, and publications. Campus security sees fit to maintain safety through the parking lot (with frequent checks by the minute), and online. Campus security provides safety tips and offers escorts whenever a student/faculty may feel uncomfortable walking from one destination to another. Whenever a student needs to file a report, there is easy access through their personal student web page. From there, the campus security will acknowledge any unusual activity, and address the campus accordingly.

    Greek Life

The Greek life is not as popular as that of a 4 year institution, but none the less, there are two Greek pledges. Phi Theta Kappa and Chi Alpha Epsilon, both in which correlate with academics. Phi Theta Kappa is also known as the Honor Society on campus. Chi Alpha Epsilon recognizes the leadership in students, as well as academic excellence.

    Clubs and Activities

As previously stated, there are a number of opportunities to join any club and participate in any activity. Even if you decide mid-semester that you would like to be a part of a club, all you do is join. There is Student Education Association (SEA), Astronomy club, Black Student Union (BSU), just to name a few. Majority of the clubs have an internal website that is easy access for each member. That way, everyone is informed and up to date with upcoming events and activities corresponding with the club.

Great for these types of students

AACC is great for students who are nervous to move away from home and stay on campus. This is a wonderful college to transition to from high school, because it gives you the academic rigor of a 4 year institution, yet still guides you every step of the way. AACC is also great for those who have been out of school for some years and would like to get back into learning. The faculty and staff take the time to make sure you stay on track and are confident to stay in school until you get a degree (whether it be an Associates or a Bachelors). AACC is a great school for those who have a degree (or are enrolled into a 4 year institution) but need some classes to get a promotion (or to maintain their class status). Most classes are transferable and meet and/or exceed any requirements set for that person. Lastly, AACC is great for those who cannot afford college yet and would like to stay in school. The classes are very cheap (in comparison to 4 year institutions), as well as the standards meet and/or exceed the standards of a 4 year institution.

    Bang for the buck

AACC is so cost efficient, it is no wonder as to how the student attendance has increased. To be able to obtain your Associates degree in 2 years (dependent upon your degree), and only have to pay a third of what you would be paying at a four year institution, is outstanding! You are provided all the necessary coursework, fieldwork, and resources that enable you to either start your own business, maintain your current career, and/or continue on to a higher degree. Another bonus is that majority of the classes taken at AACC will transfer to most of the 4 year institutions in the state of Maryland; thus, the expenses of the 4 year institution are reduced, so you are enabled to seek a higher degree.

    What to do for fun

There are numerous student activities to do on a day to day basis. At the beginning of the semester, you have the opportunity to become a member of any club. Within that club, they'll set up meetings and activities to do. Aside from being in a club, there is CAB (Campus Activities Board) which is a committee that provides activities for students to join in on during the month. The month might have a theme, and there will be movies, games, comedy, etc. Some activities include academic enrichment, which some professors allow students to gain extra credit if they attend and give a report. Also, there is a game room on the main campus, that is located in the cafeteria. If you want to take a break and have some fun in between classes, the cafeteria game room is the place to be.

    Food and Dining

The food is excellent and provides a variety of healthy choices. The only downfall is that it can be very costly, and slightly overpriced. If you ever need a bite to eat, they are open until 8pm, and everything is fresh daily.

    Dorm Life

Unfortunately there are no dorms located on campus, but the fact that they have three locations amongst Anne Arundel County helps to prevent the need of dorms. This saves on expenses, in regards to traveling and sustainability of housing.

    Academic Rigor

The academic rigor is real simple to follow while attending AACC. The guidelines are established within the student handbook that is disbursed during the student orientation. One must maintain integrity throughout coursework; no plagiarism is tolerated. The highest standard is to do the best, show up for class, and be a good student; not just for the school but for yourself.

    Tips for prospective students

My helpful tip to prospective students is to get to know your professor. You do not have to be teacher's pet, but if you make the effort for your professor to know you by name (even if you're in a classroom of 50+ students) you are more likely to succeed. Your professor will set high expectations for you and will be more willing to work with you one-on-one, because they see that you are putting in the effort. Also, get to know your learning style. If you're a tactile learner, you are unable to study like those who are audible learners. Once you know your learning style, you're more likely to succeed because you know the study tips, and you'll stay focused.

    In three sentences

Expect the unexpected when you go to Anne Arundel Community College (AACC); in a positive way. The teacher/student ratio in the classroom assures that each student is being prepared for the next level in their academics; even if each student are not on the same level. There are so many opportunities to expand learning, through a variety of extra curricular activities and one-on-one help from your professor and/or faculty member. I expected to pass on from AACC with a degree, but I did not expect to gain so much knowledge on life skills, being a student, and the degree I obtained. AACC is a college that I recommend to transition from high school!

Public safety is at the school 24/7 for safety. As the night gets later, they prefer students to leave buildings even if there is more work to do however.

    Greek Life

There is no Greek life at AACC.

    Clubs and Activities

Several clubs exist though they aren't as successful as they could be.

Great for these types of students

This school is great for students who aren't sure what they want to pursue in life. It gives them a chance to try a variety of subjects while being cost effective. It's also good for older students wanting to take a fun art, cooking, or athletic class or interested in getting a degree.

Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus

Has many trails that are fun to take and lots of areas for picnics.

    Bang for the buck

AACC is very inexpensive compared to other colleges and doesn't overcharge you for silly extras.

    What to do for fun

AACC offers events at the school like free food, movies playing, art exhibits, and theater and dance productions. The campus isn't as active since students mostly go to class and then come home since there is no housing option.

    Food and Dining

For the most part, it's the typical college food! A little bit overpriced and doesn't offer larger portions to match the price. They have a semi wide variety of food but not as appetizing healthy choices.

    Dorm Life

Sadly AACC doesn't offer any housing. That would be nice to cut some of the gas money and would make the campus more active.

    Academic Rigor

The academic rigor ranges! Some classes that are electives aren't as challenge as they realize this isn't your major. More concentrated and advance classes become more time consuming and demanding.

    Tips for prospective students

Community college is a good way to find out what you'd like to do in life at a cheaper price so try out a few different subjects. The teachers are willing to work with you if you put some effort in it.

    In three sentences

The campus is much more than a simple building; there are picnic tables, trails, and room to breathe. AACC offers a wide array of classes to try out all sorts of subjects. Lots of resources like the library and internship office are available to help you if you seek them out.

Extremely safe! The security guards are all police officers or retired police, they constantly patrol the entire campus and will also drive you to your car after dark if you don't feel safe.

    Clubs and Activities

Great for these types of students

Great for all types of students. It's not very clicky, everyone seems to be welcome and friendly.

    Bang for the buck

So far - worth every dollar! I am learning so much, I took some classes as follow ups to high school classes thinking it would be an easy A because I had already passed those classes, but found I didn't know half of what they were teaching.

    What to do for fun

Being a community college, it does not have as many activities as a 4 year college, but it has a great quad - fun for a game of catch or to just sit and read, it has pool tables, student halls and over 50 clubs!

    Food and Dining

The food is great, you can always get a hot meal. I would have given it 5 stars, but it's a little expensive.

    Academic Rigor

Depending on how you define academic rigor, I would rate this school 5 stars in the sense the professors and administrative staff (registration, finance, etc.), set the guidelines prior to classes even starting and they follow those guidelines to a tee. They are strict, but not harsh. They respect students and if you do not follow the guidelines, you pay the consequence. There are no second chances, if you do not hand in a paper, you get a 0/20. If you come in late and miss a test, there is no make up test. They treat you as if college is your job and they are the employer. It teaches you to be accountable for your actions and respect the rules.

    Tips for prospective students

Be on time for classes, do the assigned homework and study for tests. Do that and everything will easily fall into place and before you know it, the year is over!

    In three sentences

Fantastic, my freshman year at AACC was the best school experience I have had to date!! First time I have ever received a perfect 4.0 GPA. The professors treat you with respect, really care and go out of their way to help the students!

    Tips for prospective students

For your first semester, you must see an academic advisor before registering. Go early, before it gets crowded. Take their advice, but for your following semesters honestly an advisor might not be necessary. ALWAYS leave textbooks wrapped if they come shrink wrapped, until the professor says to open it. Some professors don't go by the book at all so it's best to return the book and save the money. Also, USE THE LIBRARY! (that goes for any school)

    Campus Safety

Campus safety at AACC is always in order. I often see security vehicles driving around the campus to ensure proper driving speed is in order and that everyone is parking appropriately. Fortunately, I have never seen an incident where the police or security has had to regulate any out of order students.

    Greek Life

I am not aware of the Greek Life on campus.

    Clubs and Activities

There are many clubs and activities happening on the campus. Every week, there seems to be a new activity posted on the walls and on the main halls of the campus encouraging students to get involved. There are plays and often music events which are not always held on the campus. Many local artists or even instructors are encouraging students to go see an off campus event for extra credit as well. This sort of ties in more of a sense of community to the school as well.

Great for these types of students

As previously stated, students who are transitioning from high school who may get a little intimidated by being on a large campus, unsure exactly where they want to go to school, or even seem to have certain financial needs, and for Adults or people from the work force who are looking to gain some knowledge or earn some type of certification, Anne Arundel Community College is a great place to start.

Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus

One of the main reasons it is important to become familiar with the entire campus is because half of the main campus is seperated by a bridge. Sometimes, due to the buildings being a little older, finding the name of the building on the actual building is a little challenge if you are not facing the right direction.

    Bang for the buck

Not only is Anne Arundel Community College a great transition for high school students to come into college but it is also affordable. I know that when I was working full time and going to school part time, I was still able to pay for community college out of pocket and hold off on applying for student loans so I could save them for when I transfer to a University.

    What to do for fun

There are many clubs and activities happening on the campus. Every week, there seems to be a new activity posted on the walls and on the main halls of the campus encouraging students to get involved. There are plays and often music events which are not always held on the campus. Many local artists or even instructors are encouraging students to go see an off campus event for extra credit as well. This sort of ties in more of a sense of community to the school as well.

    Food and Dining

In many of the main buildings, there are corner cafeterias that offer a variety of breakfast and lunch foods. The only small con is that they are only open until 2pm. So if you're taking afternoon or evening classes, you can grab a snack or drink out of the vending machines.

    Dorm Life

There are dorms offered by AACC. Many students either live at home with their parents or have roommates.

    Academic Rigor

Many Professors at AACC also teach at Universities locally, so they understand the work load increase once students are in college. Through Academic policies, work labs, and Professors making themselves available through office time, all of these resources must be used if students are struggling through a class. Many people do not realize that these Professors are here to help and really lend a hand. Communicating struggles and challenges through the classes with your instructors will help zero in on any problems you, as a student, are having. Do not let your struggles be kept to yourself.

    Tips for prospective students

Make sure you familiarize yourselves with the campus fairly well and what resources, in addition to classes, are offered in each building. Learn the skill of time managing, so that way if you are taking on a full load, you are able to manage time wisely and have extra cushion if one class is going to require more of your time then others. As we are becoming more of a technology era, try your best to eliminate distractions of cell phone, social media sites and kindly let friends know that you're trying to study or get some work done.

    In three sentences

Anne Arundel Community College is a great transition school for any student planning to attend a University after 2 years. Also, AACC offers many certification programs for students and adults planning on furthering their education or careers. There is never a shortage of resources available to help every student with their discipline of choice.

    Campus Safety

Campus safety is stellar. Campus security is always present in the parking lots, but not overbearing. You are also encouraged to ask an officer to walk you to your car if you ever feel uncomfortable or unsafe.

    Clubs and Activities

Like I said before, there is a club for everyone. You name it, they have (or they'll let you create it).

    Bang for the buck

Incredibly affordable. This semester I'm taking five classes and my tuition was roughly $1500.

    What to do for fun

There are always activities on campus, and tons of clubs. Whether you're into anime, German, break dancing, or astronomy, there's an event or club that will fit your interests.

    Food and Dining

I've never eaten at the cafeteria, but I've heard it's pretty bad. Vending machines throughout the campus are usually well-stocked, though.

    Dorm Life

Anne Arundel Community College doesn't have dorms.

    Academic Rigor

It honestly depends on the professor you have and what discipline you're studying. The sciences are all pretty difficult and most writing courses are challenging, but the course work is generally manageable.

    Tips for prospective students

Always check a teacher's reviews on Ratemyprofessors.com before signing up for a class! It has saved me more times than I can count.

    In three sentences

AACC is honestly a great school, and extremely affordable. The teachers I've encountered are encouraging and challenging, and they have always been quick to offer advice, letters of recommendation, and tips on scholarship opportunities. Friends of mine who have transferred from AACC to other four year institutions have told me they preferred AACC's classes and teachers to those at their new schools.

Great for any types of students. Especially if you are a studious student then this place is great because people like to study and get good grades. This place is quiet and calm and very relaxing

    Not interested.

    Bang for the buck

The tuition and the cost of attendance overall is very cheap. I took 19 credit and it costed me about 3000 dollars per semester. Definitely worth going here for 2 years and transfer if money is an issue.

    What to do for fun

For me, I go to the gym with my friend and work out for fun. For others, they like to hang around. There are also many activities offered by the college if interested.

    Academic Rigor

As a AP/IB student, as well as ranked 4th in my high school, the academic here is not that challenging. However, the college do require me to study, take notes, and attend the class. I still spend many hours doing homework and studying and there is no way I would get a good grade if I didn't try.

    Tips for prospective students

Get involved with other people. Going to college by yourself is not fun compared to having friends at the college.

    In three sentences

The college is very quiet and calm which makes you very relaxed. Everyone who attend the college are willing to study and do well in school. Good studying environment as well as safe environment.

Great for these types of students

AACC is great for students who are not sure what road they wish to take in college; the school offers a wide variety of programs and classes. Also, this school is great for anyone who wants to further their education.

    Bang for the buck

The quality of education rivals that of many four-year schools and the price is insanely low. The average tuition per semester is approximately $3,000.

    What to do for fun

There are so many clubs on campus and there are always activities happening in the amphitheater and the quad. Club choices range from Amaranth, the literary magazine, to many intermural sports. AACC also has a very well-organized theater program and engaged music programs (both of which are clubs and classes).

    Food and Dining

Food can be found in many locations on campus; there are two caf©s and a full dining hall. The caf©s offer fresh, hot coffee every morning and provide a range of choices for breakfast and lunch. The cafeteria has a hot entre© menu, where students can order everything from pizza to fresh sushi. There are two major downfalls, however: the food is so over-priced that many students would rather bring their own food and there is a very limited number of healthy choices available.

    Dorm Life

Because AACC is a community college, there are no dorms. Students must find an off-campus place to live.

    Academic Rigor

The courses offered at AACC definitely challenge the students. Professors are constantly pushing students to go further with their educations. Many teachers even offer extra credit for students who wish to go above and beyond in their classes.

    Tips for prospective students

First of all, don't be discouraged by the community college title; just because the acceptance rate is high and the tuition is low, it does not mean that the college cannot offer the same quality education as a university. Second, it is alright to go in without declaring a major; low tuition prices make it easier to feel okay about getting a liberal arts degree and trying out a few classes that seem interesting. Remember: at a community college, there is the option to change majors.

    In three sentences

The Anne Arundel Community College is just that-- a community; all of the teachers (and a lot of the students, too) are very respectful and helpful. When many people think of a community college, they may think that the education provided there will fall short of that provided by a four-year institution, but because of the helpful teachers and staff, the quality of education provided at AACC is exceptional. Also, there are a number of student and faculty-run organizations that are constantly welcoming students to try new things.

    Bang for the buck

As a community school, it's excellent for getting your Associates or Bachelors degree, and it's at a fraction of the price as normal universities. However, for those looking to transfer later on, most students have problems with other schools accepting their credits, making it a bit of a waste.

    What to do for fun

There are a lot of clubs and extra curricular activities to do around campus, on top of taking fun classes as electives.

    Food and Dining

There are numerous cafes and vending machines around campus, and while it is college food, it's actually quite good, if a bit expensive.

    Dorm Life

We have no dorms, so dorm life is severely lacking. Student life, however, is fair, as long as you're willing to get out there and meet people on your own.

    Academic Rigor

Like all colleges, some classes are easier than others, but the teachers make sure that you're doing your work. Tests in particular tend to be very detail oriented, and unless you've studied it, you're going to have a tough time with them.

    Tips for prospective students

Attending classes is critical, even for the easy courses. Numerous people fail because they don't show up for days on end and then try to jump back in. This simply won't work and it's a waste of money.

    In three sentences

Overall, it's a very excellent school. The staff is knowledgeable, and while some classes are lacking, as a whole AACC is one of the best community colleges in the state. It's also very flexible in terms of classes and there are numerous teachers to learn from if one doesn't meet your expectations.

It is an advanced community college that serves as a perfect step in the transition from high school to university. It is an affordable way to earn your early/basic credits. The class sizes are reasonable and the instructors have all been helpful.

    In three sentences

The college environment is absolutely beautiful and very environmentally friendly. The faculty / professors are always committed to make students into well-rounded citizens. It is the #1 community college in the nation and I highly recommend this community college for incoming students graduating high school or who is currently in high school.

    Campus Safety

The campus security is top notch and does a great job making the campus feel secure.

    What to do for fun

I would suggest joining clubs because they will alow you to meet new people and make new friends who also share a common interest with you.

    Food and Dining

The school cafeteria provides students with a cheap and conveniant source of food. However, there are also lots of great nearby restraunts less than 5 miles away.

    Dorm Life

    Most people commute from home.

    Academic Rigor

There is no easy way to get an A or a 4.0 GPA. If you want to be on top, you got to work your tail off.

    Tips for prospective students

    1. Talk to an academic advisor. Discuss all your plans, anything that you might be confused with, discuss everything you possibly can. They are there to help you so don't be shy. 2. Look for scholarships. There are literally millions of scholarships out there that can help you pay for college and they're easy to apply for. 3. Have a 4 year plan written down somewhere. It should include your plans for each year of college. A Harvard educated tutor that I had told me that the most prevalent characteristic that he saw in his fellow Harvard classmates was that they all had their future goals planned out form A-Z.

    In three sentences

Upon entering AACC's student center, I was amazed by all the resources that were available to current and prospective students. You could see that AACC was very dedicated to helping its students with things like transfering to a 4 year university as well as finding a job or an internship. On a scale from 1-10, I would give AACC a 9.5 because of how well they are able to prepare students for the real world.

    Clubs and Activities

I've heard they're really good and someone always seems to be doing something, but I haven't ever gotten involved.

Great for these types of students

There's basically two types of students at AACC, stoner/dropout types who I don't even know why they're there, and people who are really trying to get ahead and use all the resources they have to help reach their goals.

    Food and Dining

    Not great, not awful

    Academic Rigor

Even though it's a community college, they take themselves seriously as far as education and preparing students for university.

    Tips for prospective students

Work hard, get to know your professors, look for opportunities. They're there.

    In three sentences

AACC is awesome as far as education and connections. The professors are excellent, usually seem overqualified to teach at community college. The college has lots of very helpful and innovative programs, and will do a lot to help it's students succeed.

    Campus Safety

There are always security people roaming the campus on bikes and in cars. Even late at night they are keeping a close watch for anything suspicious looking. There are also call stations in the parking lot in case of emergency.

    Bang for the buck

It's awesome! I usually spend less than $3000 per semester in tuition, fees, and even textbooks!

    What to do for fun

Check out the Campus Activities Board. They have events on campus such as the chicken wing event in the quad, played moon-bounce laser tag on west campus once, but the quad is usually the place to go. If you are looking for something in the area, downtown Annapolis is about a 15 minute drive.

    Food and Dining

The dining area always has plenty of seating. There are coffee machines in a bunch of the buildings as well as coffee shops at both ends of the campus. The food there is decent, but a little bit over-priced for the quality and portions.

    Dorm Life

To my knowledge, there are not actually any dorms to stay in. Renting nearby/living with someone you know is probably your best bet.

    Academic Rigor

The classes mostly challenge you to learn. It really depends on the teacher, though. My favorite teachers were the ones who gave us homework that was challenging, but doable and in the end helped me on the harder tests.

    Tips for prospective students

Take every class seriously. I have seen way too many other students blow off their psychology and other basic prereq. courses only to blame it on the teachers that they got less than an A in the class. No, every single moment DURING the semester is all you have to make the best of your education. AFTER your final exams, go party, work, hangout with your friends, or do whatever you like doing, because then that time will not be able to effect the outcome and effort you can put into your classes.

    In three sentences

AACC has helpful advisers to direct new students in which classes to take and what programs are available. The orientation sessions are a little overrated when first starting, but once I got into my program the new orientation was a lot more helpful. There are a lot of resources available including the library on campus and online, a decent gym, jogging path, science labs, tutoring, as well as others that I have not personally used.

There are also fun trails to run or walk on behind campus for an after class run or walk.

    Food and Dining

There is a main dining hall located next to the bookstore which also has snacks for a break in between class. It is a decent size and has decent food. It's no 5 Star restaurant but it is a filling lunch. Also, located in some buildings throughout campus, there are smaller cafes for a quick grab and go breakfast or lunch. And in every building, you will be sure to find a vending machine.

I was accepted to out of state schools because that's where I wanted to go. When my parents sat me down and said that I couldn't go because of the costs I was angry at them for telling me I couldn't go at the last minute. I thought I knew exactly what I wanted to do and was tired of trying to prove it to them. So I ended up going to a community college and I have completely changed my major and am 100% happy with my decision. Community college gave me a chance to think, and get mature.
