Around Town

App. State is located in the mountains of North Carolina and therefor there are multiple outdoor activates such as hiking, canoeing, white water rafting, snowboarding, skiing, and tubing. App. State also has an on campus venue, called Legends. At Legends they hold concerts, party's and comedy shows.

If you like the snow, there are a lot of out door snow activities. Climbing and kayaking are popular in Boone.

There's lots of things to do for fun at Appalachian. The games and other events going on at the school account for a lot of it but there are other places to go. It is a college town with lots of small stores open and ready for business right by the college.

The weather usually holds up in the spring and summer. It's usually not too hot--especially in the fall when wind speed starts rising. Merely going outside and reading is a great breather. However there is also the recreation center which is a great place to go for physical fitness and fun. There's a running track and swimming pool along with weight training program!

The Boone area (Where Appalachian is located) is filled with things to do , from Skiing to Rockclimbing. App State is in the center of the Blue Ridge Mountains leaving students with tons of opportunity to get outdoors and experience the world around them. Even if you are not that into the outdoors there is plenty to do on and around campus! There is a pool hall, two movie theaters, and several large gyms on campus that allow any type of student to find something to do!

Movie night, wall climbing and outdoor sports are great.

There is a lot of outdoors activities to do in Boone since App is in the mountains. There is also a movie theatre on campus and really good restaurants a short distance from campus.

You can go to the fitness classes for free. You can go shopping You can go hiking, tubing, or kayaking.

There's plenty do here from bowling to thrift shopping to hiking. There's mini golf and snowboarding and skiing. And, that's just off campus. On campus, there are so many different events set up just about every day. Also, lots of students join many clubs from a variety of aspects: dance to culture to academic to greek life.

Skiing/Snow-tubing/Snowboarding are SO much fun! The campus is also located a short distance from the legendary Tweetsie Railroad and Mystery Hill. There is never a dull moment in Boone, NC!
