    Apply early if you can. Visit the campus and talk to your prospective adviser early if you can. (Especially if you are a non-traditional student.) Give college your 100%. (I didn't my first time in college and now I regret it.)

    Never be afraid to ask questions and get involved in something. There are tons of clubs and intramural sports which are a great way to meet new people and find a circle of friends that will last a lifetime.
