Around Town

There is not much to do off-campus because Ashland is such a small town. If you have a car and a lot of gas there is tons of events you can drive to in Mansfield or Akron. However, unless there are events going on at the Campus, find a lot of friends and be creative.

There's not a whole lot to do in the city of Ashland.and the campus wasn't exactly bursting at the seams with events last I checked (which was a few years ago to be fair), but if you can make some friends then you can figure something out.

Lost of activities and places to go off campus.

I enjoy just being with my friends in the dorms, but I also enjoy the rec center. The rec is a great facility with a pool, machines, classes and even a rock wall. There are also concerts, comedians, and other fun things happening on campus. If you are bored on campus there is a bowling ally down the road and Mansfield (a bigger city) is about 20min. away with movie theaters and more.

In a small town, although it's expanding. Wal-Mart is your closest mall, but the drive time to Ontario, OH (that has a bazillion stores and restaurants) is about a half-hour one way. The Campus Activities Board, Greek Life, and a host of other university-funded programs provide a lot of activities and events.

There is a bowling alley in town, along with a movie theater. Usually the group that is called CAB plans something for the weekends to do. So if you get bored you can go watch a movie with everyone or they have other activities planned. There are usually a lot of dances througout the year and they are actually pretty fun. Sometimes it's just fun to stay in the dorm and go to the basement to hang out with friends.

There is always something going on on campus. From the recreation center having activities to the art gallery. Plenty of party houses off campus if that's your thing!

You basically have to find your own fun.

Movies on campus. Get into clubs, groups. The running joke in the area is that we go to Walmart to hang out, because there really is nothing in the actual town, but its not far from Wooster or Mansfield and just a little further to Cleveland or Columbus.
