Categories Comments Great for these types of students Auburn is great for students who like classrooms with about 50 people in the classes. The freshman classes have a lot more people than some of the more advanced and selective classes. My physics I class probably had 300-400 people in that classroom and my physics II class probably had 50 people so it just varies from class to class.
Tips for prospective students If you are out of state, definitly try for a ton of scholarships. The university didn't give me any scholarships but I'm enjoying my time in Auburn just the same.
Bang for the buck I'm out of state so its rather expensive for me, but with everything they offer its really great. The new student union has a lot in it and there is plenty of free tutoring if you get stuck on something.
Am enjoying being here I love the campus and everyone is so friendly and helpful. The dormlife is cool. I made about 10 new friends just from the dorms.
Am learning a lot I'm in the engineering program and I am learning tons about software and how computers work. I highly recommend Auburn to anyone who is looking for an engineering school.

Categories Comments Great for these types of students Everyone. I have not met one person who was unhappy to be in Auburn, AL. It is a great place and it will grow on you very fast. Auburn is a great home for anyone looking to further their education and have a blast while doing it. War Eagle!
Tips for prospective students You should definitely look around. Never just choose one college and not have backups. However, if you are looking towards Auburn, definitely visit the campus. Take a tour. The town is wonderful and any pictures don't even do it justice. Make sure you apply as early as possible because there are a lot of eager people wanting to get in.
Bang for the buck I am paying out of state tuition. So from my angle it is a bit pricey. However, that is what I get for going out of my state for college. The instate price is very manageable and is completely worth it. You will not find a better place to spend your integral four (or more) years at college, than at Auburn University.
Am enjoying being here Auburn is simply the best college available. The university is what spawned the city of Auburn, AL. That shows the impact the university has had. I have had the absolute best time in such a little town. The football is amazing, the people are great, and the view is magnificent. I could not imagine myself anywhere else.
Am learning a lot Going to school at Auburn has taught me so much. And I am not just talking about what I learned in the classroom. I have received the whole college experience here and have learned so much from just my first year here.

Categories Comments Tips for prospective students Pay attention to your classes, this is a fun place to be and has a relaxed atmosphere but if you fall behind in class its tough to catch back up.
Bang for the buck As is with all universities tuition is a little steep, but with all the free resources available its worth the price. Plus you get professors that know what they are doing and enjoy teaching.
Am enjoying being here The campus is beautiful, and the atmosphere is amazing. everyone is kind and helpful. You dont have the uptight dont bother me attitude from the professors and other faculty, everyone gets along and its a fun place to be.
Am learning a lot This is the place to be if you enjoy classes that are challenging and teach you things that will actually be used in the real world. The teachers help in anyway they can, they want us to enjoy learning.

Categories Comments Great for these types of students Students that don't mind large lectures. Your science classes and some history lectures have large numbers of people, but other classes such as foreign languages and English have numbers of 30 and below. Also, students that are ready to work. This is no place to slack, because the minute you do, you're asking for trouble. You have your Grade Adjustment Policy options only 3 times in your college career, so use wisely (but really, it'll be more gratifying if you don't use it at all.) Really, Auburn is great for just about anyone. I've yet to meet anyone that isn't happy here. I've met students who are fans of that other school in Alabama, but they chose to come here because they have the bigger opportunity. I'm not knocking U of A. I don't know the place, but I know I'm happy with what I have here.
Tips for prospective students There is a lot that I could say about this school, but nothing would capture what it's truly all about unless you experience it yourself. Therefore I'll just say work hard, study a little everyday. Put yourself out there when you get here, find something to join. We have over 300 student organizations, I promise there is SOMETHING for everyone to be a part of. With 50 minute classes every other day, it's sometimes hard to meet people, depending on the class setting. The best memories you'll take away from Auburn are the ones that you've made with people that share some of the same interests as you. Go to at least one football game (even if you don't like sports. the atmosphere of Jordan-Hare is mind blowing.) Walk around campus, just because. Believe in Auburn and Love It! (George Petrie, the first Auburn Tigers head coach)
Bang for the buck Let's be honest: It's expensive for an out-of-state student. I'm not gifted by any stretch of the imagination, so I have to work hard. I didn't receive many scholarships so I'm on grants and loans right now. 30,000 some-odd dollars is a big hurdle, but it's surely worth it.
Am enjoying being here The minute you step on the exploding Haley concourse you're greeted by hundreds of other students from different areas and different beliefs. Three things that were stressed by the Assistant Head Coach/Wide Receivers Coach of the Auburn Tigers were Faith, Family, and Football. Though it may be that I have a bias, these are some of the nicest fans you will ever meet. I'm in the band and I've received comments from opposing team's fans that we're some of the best they've ever had in their stadium; moreover, some were ashamed of their own team's fans around them. There's a reason that we're called The Loveliest Village on the Plains. It's a great school and an even better community.
Am learning a lot The first day you begin your classes at Auburn you immediately start learning—not a second is wasted, and that's the good thing. Many of the professors are tough, but hey. That's college =) The professors care deeply about their students' success, but you have to make yourself available to show that you care just as much.

Will enjoy being here Beautiful campus, tons of great restraunts nearby, lots of things to help you out like huge public libraries, designated quiet places and even free tutoring! Besides that, the people are great! Everyone is always cheerful and really makes you feel like part of the family. :)
Will learn a lot Just walking around this place, you know it's no place for dummies.

Categories Comments Great for these types of students Everyone can find his or her place in the Auburn family. I'm serious.
Tips for prospective students Just smile. Everyone at Auburn is nice. Don't be afraid of your professors or your suitemates. Make the most of EVERYTHING and go to as many home football games as possible.
Bang for the buck I believe Auburn is worth every penny. I was awarded a scholarship, but I still had to take out student loans. It's worth it, because Auburn is incredible.
Am enjoying being here I LOVE LOVE LOVE being at Auburn. I am heavily involved in the Christian Student Center, and I have made so many close friends through that campus ministry. I've already met people that I know I'll stay in touch with after my Auburn years. I participate in intramural sports like volleyball and flag football, which are good ways to meet people on campus and stay active. Living in the dorms (at least for freshman year) has also helped me meet people and get to know campus better.
Am learning a lot Every class I have taken at Auburn has taught me something. Of course, I've learned more about the particular subject, but I've learned life lessons as well. My English professor this semester taught me that If something is deep and meaningful to you, it doesn't matter what everyone else thinks about it. My Italian professor taught me that you can't always follow the rules. My Auburn Experience professor taught me more about Auburn than anyone else. I'm learning how to meet people and deal with people that are different from me, and I'm learning how to live on my own. I cannot list everything that I've learned from just my first semester at Auburn.

Categories Comments Great for these types of students People who like the South and are studious and social. There are also a ton of intramural sports, if you're athletic. If you've never been to the South before, come and visit! It just may surprise you :)
Tips for prospective students Visit campus in the fall or spring to really get the feel of what Auburn is like. You can even sit in on classes if you ask someone you know or even the Student Recruiters (tour guides). If you're coming from out of state, Greek life may be the perfect way to meet people (that's a main reason why I did it). If it's not right for you, no worries there are also many other ways to meet people. These are some tips specifically if you are going to Auburn: 1) Get your lunch right before classes get out so you don't have to wait in long lines (espceially at Salsaritas or ABP) 2) If you get season football tickets, that's great! If not, a majority of your fellow freshman friends will also have half season so you can still tailgate or watch it on TV 3) It is a 10 minute walk from Terrell to Haley 4) If you are required to move your car during football season, don't wait till Friday. There are usually avaliable spots in RO on Wednesday or Thursday. 5) Don't spend all your meal plan in the first two months. 6) Every drink and food item in the stadium is $4 so bring money to the games, and your meal plan won't cover it 7) Studying for tests in high school is not like studying in college. If you feel that you need tutoring early on, go for it! 8) Be careful where you park and know the parking rules. You cannot park in RH, RW, or RQ on weekends. 9) Get involved! :) There are over 300 organizations on campus! Or start your own! 10) Sororities have their chapters on Tuesday and Wednesay night so Village Dining is very crowded for dinner! 11) If you are eating on campus dinner on Friday or Saturday night, eat early because places close early! 12) If you are living in the dorms, bring your laundry home to wash if you can, the machines are expensive 13) Make a friend in each of your classes, you may not end up best friends but you can help each other out 14) If you can do it, take a foreign language! It is very fun! :) 15) Get to football games when the gates open for students, it is easier to find a seat (especially for a large group!) 16) Don't wait till the night before to write a paper 17) Stay off of Facebook and any other social networking sites during finals week, it will help! 18) Decorate your room for Christmas :) 19) Finding an electrical outlet in the library during a busy night is very hard! And so is a parking spot, take the security shuttle if you have to 20) The security shuttle is very helpful but on busy nights, budget 30 minutes of time for waiting and driving. 21) Wear sunscreen and sunglasses to the games, and night games get cold starting late September so bring a sweater! 22) Spending all day in the library? Take your favorite hoodie and blanket, you'll be more comfortable! And remember to take the occasional break! 23) Have a morning test and want to study? Go to ABP for an hour, it's not too loud and you can get breakfast too! 24) Have RO and live in the Hill? You can rent a parking spot at the Auburn Alumni Center (next to FIJI) each semester War Eagle!
Bang for the buck I'm an out of state student, so my tuition is pretty high. There are plenty of financial aid and scholarships offered through Auburn to help out. Instate is really low and probably an amazing bang for your buck. I would visit campus and ask as many questions as you can think of before you commit. You can also find many great scholarships offered by Cappex and other similar sites.
Am enjoying being here It's hard to arrive on campus and not to fall in love with the feel of this college town. Though Auburn is strong it academics, it is still easy to have social life. Football games are indescribable. There are countless organizations to become involved with from SGA to a water skiing team. Greek life is also quite prominent on campus with a third of the student body being in either a frat or sorority. If Greek life isn't for you, it is not hard to avoid. Downtown also lights up at night from the bars (more like small clubs). They're a fun place to go socialize and dance. It's hard to find a quite moment at Auburn (well for me at least, I like staying busy). It really is an amazing college experience.
Am learning a lot Auburn is definitely a highly academic school. Just because Auburn is in Alabama does not mean that it is by any means easy. It was actually just ranked as one of the hardest grading colleges in the nation. This is not a place for slackers. Be ready to attend classes, go to study groups, and study hard in order to excel.

Categories Comments Great for these types of students Honestly it is great for everyone. There are 24,000 some students here between undergraduate and graduate students. You are bound to find someone that you click with!
Tips for prospective students Apply early! They have rolling decision for students who apply early so you don't have to wait for an answer. If you have the credentials, apply for the Honors College! Early registration is amazing. Get involved! Then you can meet people with the same interest as you. When you need a roommate, check out URoomSurf.com! This is where I found my roommate, and we worked out great!
Bang for the buck Auburn gives out a lot of money for Merit Scholarships each year. I believe you only need a 28 ACT and a 3.5 GPA, and you are eligible for a scholarship! For out of state students Auburn is pretty expensive, but in state I believe is next to nothing!
Am enjoying being here It was quite a culture shock to come down to the deep South, but I really enjoy it. At first it may be a little overwhelming, especially if you decide not to do Greek Life. However, there are so many clubs to get involved with! No matter who you are, you will be able to find an organization to get involved with here!
Am learning a lot I am involved in the Honors College here, and while the Honors classes are a bit difficult, it is worth the perks. I was able to register for classes 3 weeks earlier than other freshmen. Auburn offers a wide variety of classes that are very interesting to take. Though I am majoring in Business, I am taking some of the courses in other topics that I am interested in.

Categories Comments Great for these types of students You may want to think twice if you come from a smaller (particularly close knit) school. You can make it here, it all depends on your preference. I would say a rule of thumb is if you like football and parties most nights (but can do your work, too) then you should be fine. Non-party people, particularly those that like humanities as well, find another school
Bang for the buck You do receive a ton of rewards for your money. The tiger transit is very nice, and the tutoring services are great. Many times you'll see something and people will say 'Oh, it's covered in your tuition'.
Am enjoying being here I hate it here. If you want a place filled with sororities, fraternities, football, drinking, and closed minded people, go ahead. Nothing matters but football. The only topics I've heard talked about have been, clothing, parties, and football. If you're a minority student. Don't even bother. I am mixed (White, Black, and Native American) and it never occurred to me that people would look at me differently until now. People here are all alike. Skinny, white, preppy, with Nike shorts and a sorority shirt for the girls, and suit and tie or whatever their fraternity demands for the guys. There is no free thinking. There is no creativity. There is no art. I'm planning on leaving. This place is NOT for me.
Am learning a lot The academics are good. Some of the classes are tougher than others, but overall you do get an education.

Categories Comments Great for these types of students Auburn is great for any type of student. Auburn has great fraternities and sororities if you want to get involved. They also have great intramural sports and many different organization to help you feel connected once you get here.
Tips for prospective students Keep up your grades in high school and take a prep class for the ACT. Come and visit the campus and you will love it!
Bang for the buck What a great deal! I looked at many other colleges and found Auburn to be very affordable while receiving a top notch education. Living expenses in Auburn are very reasonable.
Am enjoying being here Auburn University's campus is a great place to live. Everyone is so friendly and helpful. I love Tiger Transit. It helps me get to my classes on time even when the weather is bad.
Am learning a lot I am very impressed with the extra mile my professors will go to help me. They are always in during office hours and are glad to meet with you. My professors are always prompt in return emails.

Categories Comments Great for these types of students Engineering and pre-med both had exceptional programs, facilities and people who want you to succeed. As far as personalities that would fit well at Auburn, anything goes! There's a place for everyone and we truly are a family.
Tips for prospective students After graduating from a small high school in a place not many have heard of, Auburn was kind of a culture shock. It's huge! Your first reaction might be to lock yourself in dorm room, but don't! There are sooo many opportunities to get involved on campus, as well as in the community. There's a niche for everyone and you can find it at Auburn! Also, if you love football this is a great choice. The game experience in the student section is like no other! I'm a junior and I still get chills at the sight of all my Auburn family cheering on the team.
Bang for the buck Auburn University, as well as most colleges, comes with a hefty price tag for out of state students. This is a definite drawback. However, they've just changed the tuition scale so that any full-time student (taking 12-18+ credit hours) pays the same amount of tuition. This is supposed to encourage students to take more classes so that they will graduate on time. My classes have all been relatively small, besides classes like history and fundamentals of chemical and biology. But all the teachers are accessible and want to help you. Also like I said before, Auburn is always improving its facilities so that we have the newest technologies.
Am enjoying being here The campus is beautiful and walking from one end to the other won't take more than about 10-15 minutes depending your speed. One drawback they don't tell you about: there will always be some kind of construction on campus. This can be really annoying, but it helps our school keep up-to-date facilities and continue to grow. Pretty much everyone is super nice and helpful. Game weekends are filled with War eagle! instead of Hello and southern hospitality is definitely something this community has to offer. I have found wonderful organizations that have grown to become family, so get involved!
Am learning a lot I've been in several majors in different colleges, from the College of Engineering to the College of Liberal Arts, and can say that all the classes I've taken have helped me grow intellectually, as well as decide what the best career path for me would be. There are plenty of places to get free help with classe you're having trouble in, as well as a multitude of helpful graduate students who are looking to tutor students.

Categories Comments Great for these types of students Auburn is a very well rounded college but it is mostly noted for its engineering school, nursing school, business school, and fashion and merchandising (majors). I have found that there is a great abundance of campus ministries and for this reason it is a very Christian friendly campus.
Tips for prospective students Make sure you live on campus the first year. I found that is was really helpful to get to know people and to learn the campus layout. Talk to your proffessors! Most of them are REALLY nice and rather bored during their office hours and would love to talk to you. Talk to older students in your major, they can help you a lot. Make sure you have rain gear! It rain randomly in Auburn all the time but the sunsets are awesome.
Bang for the buck Auburn is by far the best bang for your buck! I was offered scholarships to a few other schools and Auburn was still cheaper. You get an amazing education for a small college price. Auburn has raised tuition since a started school but the university has also risen in the rankings both over all and individual programs.
Am enjoying being here I find one of the key factors in enjoying college is making great friends. Auburn has so many different opportunities and organizations for you to get involved with it makes it really easy to find students with similar likes and dislikes. I really like the layout of the campus, it's not very complicated and the student center is in the middle of campus which makes it easy to meet people for a meal or to study. The nice thing about Auburn is whether you are a hard core partier or a book worm you will fit in and find friends. The weather is really nice (minus July and August) and the college is very pretty and clean. Over all I have had lots of fun at school.
Am learning a lot I found Auburn to be challeging but fun. You will not make it through school there without learning a lot. The quality of content and teaching is great. I was a transfer student from a community college to Auburn and found that the quantity and quality of material was way better at Auburn then where I had been previously. If you are taking sciences there make sure you are ready for some challenging labs!

Categories Comments Great for these types of students Auburn is great for all types of people just as long as you are serious about your studies. You will find the people you fit in with no doubt, but everyone hear realizes the value of their education. This university has great programs from Engineering to Architecture to Design to Pre-med. All the programs here are so accredited
Tips for prospective students This college is wonderful all around, but something that I am so happy about is the tutoring programs offered for free. They have a writing center to check over your papers before you turn them in, and study groups and tutors for every subject and class all for free! I couldn't have made it through these last two years without these wonderful resources. Also join as many organizations as you can, the more people you meet and the more things on your calendar make for an even better experience!!
Bang for the buck As an out of state student it is incredibly expensive to attend Auburn. I do know many schools that are more expensive than Auburn though, and then again if you stay instate it is way cheaper. Try to work on some scholarships if you are out of state, but if you can't seem to get any I think the out of state and independent experience is well worth the money.
Am enjoying being here I came to Auburn from Southern California, I am used to a city of 4 million an ended up moving to a state whose population was 4 million. I experienced a fair amount of culture shock to say the least. Auburn was a lot smaller to me, although I know to many people it is a lot bigger than where they came from. Regardless of the amount of students (20,000+), Auburn feels like a family. No matter how many people, or where you come from everyone shares that same love for Auburn. When being here long enough you will find people that compliment your tastes no matter what you are in to. Don't be afraid to join organizations and meet new people, because you have such a huge chance of making life long friends at this university. A few things that sold me on Auburn was the southern hospitality and the gorgeous campus. We have all four seasons and there is ALWAYS something to do on the weekends, from downtown bars, to hiking at Chewacla. It is a beautiful city with awesome people. Plus....the football games are so fun!
Am learning a lot When I began at Auburn I was a Pre-Med Student. My freshman year I was lucky enough to have so many intellectual teachers who clearly understood the importance of such education. With saying that I realized science did not interest me enough and i switched majors to the Graphic design program. My sophomore year I started the new major and realized that the teachers that I had in this subject were just as brilliant as the teachers I had as a Pre-Med student. Every teacher I have had is a professional at the subject and is able to back up such education with years of experience and education. The teachers all seem to have wonderful credentials and a great resume of accomplishments to back them up.

Categories Comments Great for these types of students People who love football, partying, greek life, and a typical southern lifestyle. People interested in the programs I have mentioned above. There's a good amount of student organizations so that if you're not necessarily the kind of person I described, you still have hope of meeting other people who don't necessarily fit in at Auburn.
Tips for prospective students I recommend looking at other schools unless you want to go into engineering, veterinary-related studies, architecture, or agriculture. When applying, Auburn cares a lot more about your ACT score than your course-load or even your GPA, so keep that in mind if you're really Auburn-bound. Take it more than once. Oh, and get used to WALKING. The campus isn't really well-organized, so it's very spread-out and during your typical day you'll do a LOT of walking. Also, while most of the college-targeted places are downtown near campus, you're going to want to get out of town on the weekends at least sometimes, so if you have a car, BRING IT.
Bang for the buck If you are an Alabama resident looking for college Auburn is something to consider. The in-state tuition isn't THAT bad, plus they offer automatic scholarships. However, like I said earlier, the quality of the classes and professors isn't always up to par.
Will enjoy being here Again, it depends on the kind of person you are. As someone who has lived in Auburn for my entire life, I can say with confidence that most people who go to Auburn are interested in the same things - football, partying, and drinking. Of course, not everyone who goes here is like that, but you're not going to find a lot of people who are different from that immediately.
Will learn a lot It really depends on your major. If you are interested in any liberal art or fine art, look elsewhere. Auburn is made for engineering, architecture, vet or pre-vet school, and agriculture. They actually take pride in not being a liberal arts school. Freshman year all of the core classes are taught in large sizes, making it hard to get a personal experience. The English department is EXTREMELY subjective and full of hard grading, and a family friend in the Philosophy department at AU has even described the English department as corrupt.

Categories Comments Tips for prospective students Just makes sure to known where to want to go and are completely sure because if you end up at a college you do not actually want to be at you will end up not happy and probably wanting to transfer to a different college.
Bang for the buck Compared to other colleges in the US Auburn is not that expensive. It is definitely bang for the buck!
Am enjoying being here Auburn is great. I love it here i have made so many great friends that i know I will have for years to come. It is such a cute small college town and a great community.
Am learning a lot I am an Animal Science major here at Auburn. Even though I've only been there one semester i have learned a lot. There are wonderful professors here and i am glad i chose Auburn to attend college.

Categories Comments Tips for prospective students CHECK YOUR PROFESSORS BEFORE YOU GET THEIR CLASSES. Finding the few gems here and tweaking your schedule to get them will save you WORLDS of pain.
Bang for the buck I don't pay over $25,000 dollars a year to come to a place where intelligence comes to die. I pay that much for an education, and that, sadly, is exactly what I am not receiving at Auburn University.
Am enjoying being here This is my opinion - I'm not of the same mindset or rearing as many of the students around here, so I find it hard to talk to people. Also, being atheist in Alabama is not exactly a recipe for acceptance. As stated above, teachers make being here a lot harder than it needs to be due to their quality, and the dominance of politically/religiously-themed (Christian) clubs here at Auburn makes it rather difficult to get involved in anything interesting. The college and town itself also does not provide many opportunities for fun if you don't drink/party/do drugs. So there's that.
Am learning a lot Between the different departments there is a major disparity in the quality of the teachers. In my experience, teachers in the Humanities classes tend to be very good. All of my history, writing, and art-based classes have been very informative and interesting, and the teachers have all been great. In my Engineering classes, however, I have yet to have a decent teacher. My one - and only - Computer Science class, Java, was a nightmare because of the teaching quality. Good math teachers are apparently few and far between, as finding one that speaks fluent English is referred to as 'finding the unicorn' around here. My friends have told me horror stories about their science teachers, notably in both Physics and Chemistry. Because of this, I find it extremely hard to learn here.

Categories Comments Great for these types of students Auburn's great for everyone! There's something for everyone!
Tips for prospective students Get involved in everything you can! There's a place for everyone at Auburn, you just have to put yourself out there!
Bang for the buck Auburn is the collegiate experience everyone needs to have. They have so many different clubs and groups to join to meet so many people and not to mention a national championship football team!!! Academic wise, it is also a wonderful place to learn, they have great teachers and great programs that make learning a wonderful process!
Am enjoying being here The Auburn community is like a giant family. I've visited several other campuses and have never felt quite at home like I do at Auburn. Everyone is so friendly and polite!! The campus is also so beautiful and they have everything you could possibly need!!
Am learning a lot The classes are really exhilarating and the teachers actually want to help you learn. They'll take anytime you need just to help you understand and they're so into what they're teaching it makes it a lot more interesting. Auburn also provides free tutoring programs to help you excel in any class your enrolled in!

Categories Comments Bang for the buck I will be paying the instate price which is not as hefty as the out if state prices. The most expensive part for the in state students are the housing costs.
Will enjoy being here The football games, rolling the trees, the beautiful campus and toomer's corner... What more could you ask for!!!

Categories Comments Tips for prospective students Take a visit. The campus is BEAUTIFUL!
Bang for the buck As an out of state student, this college is EXPENSIVE. However, they offer many academic scholarships, and even some dependant on your specific major or college. National Merit Finalists in particular should definitely consider this school, as their National Scholars Scholarship for NMF pays for all tuition, housing, and more.
Will enjoy being here The food options are amazing, and the people seem really friendly. The dorms are AMAZING, especially the Village, and I've seen tons of opportunities to get involved on campus.
Will learn a lot I'm going to the Honors College and taking classes from its Interdisciplinary Program, which seem to be both rigorous and thorough. I like classes that make me think, so I know I'll like this program.

Categories Comments Great for these types of students You will need to be comfortable at a school with a lot of people, but don't worry about getting lost in the crowd! It's hard to unless you try. You need to be dedicated to academics but able to balance extracurriculars too. Auburn has a lot of great extracurricular opportunities you will want to take advantage of!
Tips for prospective students Apply for on campus housing early! Make your housing deposit and reserve a spot, even if you aren't sure Auburn is the school for you. Freshman housing is limited and if you do decided on AU you want to be in the dorms, or at least have the option. Take a tour and try to visit a friend who currently goes here or visit a football game to get a more well rounded experience. Take the ACT or SAT more than once, even if your score is great! You never know what scholarships you can get just for your score!
Bang for the buck Auburn has great academic programs, advisors, and professors! They also have awesome extracurricular activities and a wide variety that you will want to take advantage of!
Am enjoying being here Auburn has the greatest family in the world! Everyone is so friendly and open to meeting new people. Just yell War Eagle! on the concourse and see what happens! The campus is beautiful in all seasons of the year. The traditions Auburn has are timeless. War Eagle!
Am learning a lot Auburn's professors are great! What's even better is the outside resources Auburn provides that are FREE! All professors are required to hold office hours where you can go speak to them about the class and ask questions about upcoming tests, papers, and projects. Some classes have Supplemental Information, or SI, where past students who have excelled in the class hold sessions to help discuss the material further. The Library also has free tutoring for most classes! You just sign up online for an appointment! I really love the services Auburn provides. It makes me feel like I am getting the attention I would get at a smaller school, without having to lose the big school atmosphere!

Categories Comments Great for these types of students It is great for students who want a big schmall with a small-town feel. It's big enough to not feel trapped, but also small enough to feel safe. The night life at Auburn is also amazing for those that don't want to be only buried in their books. And it's close to Montgomery, Birmingham, and Atlanta for those who like to go to bigger events.
Tips for prospective students Be sure to become a part of a group. I, myself, have been a part of the marching band, the symphonic winds, KKP and SAI, two music organizations on campus. It's easy to get lost with a student body this big, but with greek organizations for people of every color and other clubs, everyone can find their niche.
Bang for the buck Tuition is expensive here, but there are so many classes, people, and activities to be a part of, it is totally worth it. Also, SEC football is the best in the country and I have to say Auburn is a great school to be a part of.
Am enjoying being here The campus itself is absolutely beautiful. All the classes are within comfortable walking distance so you don't have to scramble to and fro during the hot summer months.
Am learning a lot I am a Senior in Laboratory Technology and Auburn University has impressed be so far. It is what many consider to be a research school, so the majority of the professors here have PhDs and are continuing in their own education which can only benefit the student.

Categories Comments Great for these types of students Anyone interested in: a great engineering program, socio-economic diversity, warm weather, or football... WAR EAGLE!
Tips for prospective students Make sure to apply before December 1st to meet the scholarship deadline!
Bang for the buck I'm from out-of-state, so money was the biggest deciding factor to choosing where I went to school. However, Auburn has a great scholarship program, so if you made the grades, you will be eligible for lots of merit scholarship.
Am enjoying being here I've been on campus for nearly a month, and I already love Auburn! Joining a sorority has given me the opportunity to meet so many wonderful girls, and there is almost always a fun party to go to!
Am learning a lot I'm currently enrolled in two honors courses here, and I'm learning so much! To those of you who that because Auburn is a state school, it can't offer the same academic rigor as private universities, there are so many opportunities within the honors program to learn at a faster pace.

Categories Comments Great for these types of students Auburn would be a great school for students who enjoy the family kind of feel, where they will know lots of people and still have their own group of friends where they fit in perfectly. Auburn is great for the go-getters and has a huge student population, but it doesn't feel that way at all. There are hundreds of organizations that cover almost every aspect you can imagine as well as formed partnerships within Auburn that can lead to great opportunities for personal fulfillment as well as long-term connections. AU also cares a lot about the community and the environment so for people who like to help others and the world around us, the possibilities are endless. Additionally, if you take academics seriously and want the chance to be the best in what you desire, come to AU and let our faculty and staff help lead the way. Finally, if you love sports then you will fit right in because here in Auburn we are ALL IN for our AUBURN TIGERS!
Tips for prospective students Let me start by saying that as a student, family member, visitor or whoever, TAKE THE PARKING ZONES, RULES, AND FINES SERIOUSLY! AU does not hesitate to give tickets, tow, or put a boot on your car if you fail to heed their warnings or read the signs especially for home football games. Even if only for 30 seconds to run something in to leave on a teacher's desk, DON'T DO IT. Secondly, If you are going to come to Auburn, don't come in with the mindset that you will be able to breeze through your classes like you might have in high school or that you will be the smartest in your classes. At AU everyone else was talented enough to get in which means they are also extremely smart or gifted academically like you. Every class is designed to challenge you and push you to new limits, and they probably will. Also, do not fall victim to the typical college is the place to party and break free from the rules of society mindset because while we have fun, at AU school is the top priority for most students. Finally, come to Auburn University with the intention to open up, meet new people, learn a lot, and have tons of fun!
Bang for the buck Most events and services at Auburn (concerts, SGA, UPC, and sports events, cooking workshops, personal trainers, gym classes, etc.) are free with the exception of football tickets and even then students receive a HUGE discount. The amenities are great from the dorms to the dining halls. There are no community bathrooms anywhere on campus and there are over 30 places to choose from to eat. Most things that you need are within a few miles of the campus and there are transit systems that run 24 hours and take you anywhere on campus as well as to off-campus apartments and even Wal-Mart all for small fee included in tuition. The school also offers a rental car service for extremely low prices for students.
Am enjoying being here Honestly, I didn't even want to go to Auburn. It was my parent's choice and not mine. But after spending the first few nights on campus, I don't think I could have been happier anywhere else. AU is probably one of the prettiest college campus in the country and is filled with the nicest and most helpful people you can find. There are also fun parties all the time, but no one makes you feel obligated to go. It was easy to make friends, and there is always something on campus to do! The only downfall is the shopping scene. We have a mall about 2 miles from campus but the better ones are in Birmingham, Columbus, and Atlanta.
Am learning a lot In each class that I have experienced so far, I have come out learning more than I thought I would. The teachers have been extremely helpful by trying to spice up their material and make their classes fun to be in. They have also been cool with answering questions both in and out of class.

Categories Comments Great for these types of students Auburn is great for almost any type of student. It's a large school, so there are tons of things to get involved in and something for everyone. However large the school is though, it is in a small town and many of the classes are small as well. At Auburn, you get the best of both worlds: a large university with lots of opportunities in a small town setting.
Tips for prospective students My tips for prospective students would be to go into college with a completely open mind. Try all of the new things and experiences that are presented to you and take the time to enjoy all of the opportunities that college presents you outside of the classroom. At Auburn, there are always speakers, programs, or special events that really enrich your education. And of course take advantage of what you can learn inside of the classroom. Going to class may seem like a chore, but you can really learn something and benefit from what you learn in your classes. If you go into school with an open mind, you can get the most out of it. In the one year that I've been at Auburn University, I've learned so much!
Bang for the buck Auburn is fairly generous with their scholarships, and the price is pretty affordable. I think that I've definitely gotten the bang for my buck in classes, extracurriculars, social life, professors, and the opportunities that Auburn has presented me with since being there. Auburn puts on tons of free events for students, and since being at school there, I've gotten to see Lupe Fiasco and T-Pain in concert. They put on numerous free activities for students, and although it's a small college town, there is never a lack of something to do. Auburn treats its students well.
Am enjoying being here They aren't lying when they talk about Auburn University being a family. At Auburn, everybody is All In, and everybody is really friendly. I came from out of state without knowing many people, but it was incredibly easy to meet new people and feel welcomed. If you like football, you will absolutely love it at Auburn! If you don't like football, there are a ton of other things to get involved in. If I could choose a college over again, I would choose Auburn again and again.
Am learning a lot Auburn has been great so far! I have never once doubted my choice to come here. So far, I've gotten a lot out of the classes that I've taken. Many of my classes have been challenging, but in a good way. I can honestly say that I've learned a lot in all of my classes, and what I've learned has been applicable to real life. Class sizes are generally a good size, and the professors are easy to access outside of class.

Greek Life fraternities and sororities abound, offering some of the most varied greek life of any college around.
Clubs and Activities there is a club for every academic, athletic, and miscellaneous fun thing you can imagine.
Great for these types of students anyone will fit in at auburn. there are a huge variety of ethnic groups and people groups and no one gets left out.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus tiger walk is a huge school tradition, where the students line up on both sides of the entrance to the football stadium pre-game and cheer and chant for the football team while the band plays.
Bang for the buck the school is a great value for your tuition dollar.
What to do for fun if you can think of it, there is more than likely someone to get together with to do basically anything you want. there are many clubs and activities, as well as local establishments for having fun.
Food and Dining auburn has some of the best restaurants, both on and off campus.
Dorm Life the people here are friendly and always willing to help. the facilities are clean and offer great pricing.
Academic Rigor auburn is no pushover. be willing to put in a good bit of work to achieve excellent return.
Tips for prospective students definitely consider auburn for their academics, as well as their student involvement. everyone has a chance to participate somehow.

Categories Comments Campus Safety auburn university is a very safe campus! spread out at various points of campus are these emergency columns where if need of emergency personnel, you merely press the glowing blue button, and they will be there asap. also, there are campus security everywhere patrolling, at all hours of the day.
Greek Life greek life does play a huge role, like in any campus, however; it is not one that is drastic. if you are not in a sorority or fraternity, everything is still typically normal for you. basically, life does not revolve around solely greek life at auburn.
Clubs and Activities there are a wide variety of clubs and activities that are available for all students! there is a thing called o-day every semester that lasts for a few days. this basically gives you the ability to browse through all of the different clubs and view what they have to offer you.
Great for these types of students auburn is great for students who wish to study in a nice, friendly atmosphere. also, it is a big campus, while not being overly overwhelming. in addition, auburn is well-known for being a great academic university and having its name on your diploma will always be a plus.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus auburn university has many amazing traditions. a well-known tradition has to do with the rolling of toomer's corner when auburn wins a football game. another well-known tradition is a seal near samford where if a current auburn student steps on it, they will forever receive bad luck.
Bang for the buck auburn university is a very good college in my opinion and i'm glad to have picked it. although, i do wish their dining options were more superb. overall, it is worth the money if you relish the full experience.
What to do for fun there are many different activities and events that take place at auburn weekly. there is a club, upc, that handles many of these events, and they're extremely fun. also, there are other clubs that you may join, and intramural sports.
Food and Dining the food and dining is excellent during lunch because you have many options. however, if you stay on campus and live on it, the dinner plans become very limited. also, there is no actual buffet style dining at auburn university.
Dorm Life extra dorm events and activities could happen. the dorms, however, are a pretty decent size, and gorgeous. also, there are no communal bathrooms in any of the dorms.
Academic Rigor the teachers are very challenging. you may not get assigned homework in every class, but if you do, be sure to do it. also, it is still your job to know the material fully.
Tips for prospective students study weeks in advance for tests. study your notes, outlines, power points, and be sure to read the textbook! also, si sessions and study partners are extremely helpful if you need that extra help in a class.
In three sentences auburn university has a very homey and friendly atmosphere. it is a medium-sized campus. the teachers are very experienced and willing to help.

Categories Comments Campus Safety auburn is in its own little bubble. i have never felt unsafe at auburn. walking campus at night is not scary and there are security shuttles that drive student around. there are also emergency stands set up all of campus just in case.
Greek Life greek life is big at auburn because it is a southern school and in the sec. however, there are tons of students not involved in greek life. if you are greek, awesome and if you're not, awesome. it really doesn't matter here.
Clubs and Activities there is a club for anything and everything, but really there are so many things to get involved in.
Great for these types of students anyone!
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus rolling toomers corner is the most famous and best traditon at auburn. i promise you have never seen anything like it before.
Bang for the buck i am from out-of-state so the tuition is crazy expensive, but i wouldn't trade my auburn experience for anything!
What to do for fun football, of course. football season is the best time in auburn; there is nothing like it! the games in the student section are so much fun. there are also bars downtown that always have live entertainment. auburn always has some kind of event going on whether it is a sports game, movie, concert, or special event. there is always something to do.
Food and Dining there are so many good places to eat on campus and you never have to walk very far. there is a good variety in places to eat, but the downside is that there is not a cafeteria or dining hall with different options everyday. auburn has many well known and popular restaurants on campus like chick-fli-a, panda express, dennys, and au bon pain.
Dorm Life dorm life is not as bad as some people make it out to be. there is plenty of space in the dorms and enough closet/storage space. also, by living in the dorms you are able to meet a ton of new people. the only downside of dorms is the fire alarms. the alarms like to go off at random times and usually inconvenient times.
Academic Rigor classes at auburn are diffcult, but not impossible. teachers understand that students have other challenging classes and are willing to work with you. test schedules are posted way in advance so you are never surprised by a test. also, alot of teachers throw in bonus at the end of the semester which is always a plus.
Tips for prospective students auburn may be in the sec and seem like a huge school, but it really has a small town feel. make sure you get involved on campus and meet tons of new people. try things that you wouldn't normally do, you may and up loving it and meet awesome people in the process.
In three sentences once you come to auburn, you become a part of the huge and amazing auburn family. auburn has a beautiful campus full of friendly people who are willing and wanting to help you succeed and make the best out of your college experience. auburn has everything and is the place to meet amazing people and have the best college experience anyone could ask for.

Categories Comments Campus Safety auburn has done a great job in making students feel safe. the tiger transit system, the security night shuttle, and many other safety precautions help students in being safe during all hours of the day and night.
Greek Life auburn is only 30% greek. being in a fraternity or a sorority is a great way to get to know people, but it is perfectly normal to choose not to be in the greek system. there are plenty of other ways to get involved on campus, including student government association, tiger tuesdays, project uplift, best buddies, upc, and much more.
Clubs and Activities i have gotten involved in the auburn university marching band by being a baton twirler, but there are also other ways to get involved at auburn. greek life is a great way to meet new people, but there are also many other service organizations and student government opportunities for students to give back to the college they love.
Food and Dining auburn has a meal plan for on-campus and off-campus students. on-campus students pay $995, and off-campus students pay $300. the dining options include chik-fil-a, au bon pain, chef's table, panda express, chick-n-grill, denny's, and other options. there are healthy options, if you choose your meals wisely.
Dorm Life living in the dorms for two years was a great way to meet other freshmen and get to know my sorority sisters on the hall during sophomore year. the quad, the hill, and the village each offer great housing options for living on-campus, and it was great being near most of my classes.
Academic Rigor auburn is one of the most prestigious colleges in the nation! students are constantly being challenged to think harder and apply their education in ways that both benefit their learning experience and help the community.
In three sentences auburn has something special about it that i cannot quite put into words. you have to experience it to understand what people mean by the auburn family, and after you are there, you will never be the same. i have learned the value of being an auburn woman, and i know that will take me far in my future career and personal life.

Categories Comments Campus Safety Rarely ever does crime or altercations arise on Auburn's campus. We have great security here and also we receive AUAlerts should we even think suspicious acts are being committed on our grounds.
Greek Life Auburn has over 40 fraternities and sorrorities, but only 30% of our students are in them. Don't worry. You do not have to be greek in order to enjoy our campus.
Clubs and Activities Each semester all of our organizations come together to recruit new members on O-Day. This is the perfect day to join clubs and become ACTIVE participants. It's a great way to boost your resume and show your leadership skills for officer positions the upcoming year.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus Everytime we win a home football game, students rush to Toomer's Corner to roll the trees. This happens pretty often!
Bang for the buck Auburn has gotten pretty pricey and is increasing tuition every year. I'm on a presidential scholarship, so the only things I pay for out of pocket are books and a meal plan.
What to do for fun What's not fun about Auburn? Of course, everyone knows about our excellent football team, but our other teams are just as good. If sports are not your thing, our show choir and theatre are just as entertaining. Friday nights are always excellent for strolling down Magnolia and sipping some of Toomer's famous lemonade.
Food and Dining Auburn doesn't have a cafeteria, but we do have over 30 restaurants on campus. Whether you like Mexican, Chinese, or Italian, Auburn has what you need. The food is a little pricey, but well worth it.
Dorm Life The typical college campus has less than pleasant dorms and community bathrooms. None of our student housing has community bathrooms. Living in The Quad is the most convenient place to live in campus due to its central location. You will have a roommate and share a bathroom with the room next to you (suitestyle; 4 people to a bathroom). The Hill is set up the same way, but it's further out. The Village is the place to be if you're into having your own privacy. Rooms in The Village are set up like apartments. In each suite there are 4 rooms, 2 bathrooms, a living room, and a kitchen. Only disadvantage is that it's on the opposite side of campus.
Academic Rigor Although Auburn is a lot of fun due to all of our sororrities/fraternities and outstanding athletics, AU is definitely not an easy school. In 2011, Auburn University was listed as one of the hardest universities to receive an A. Luckily, we have a wonderful tutoring sessions and tutors called StudyPartners which are shown to increase a student's test scores by a letter grade.
Tips for prospective students Being that Auburn University has a student population of over 25,000 students, it's easy to feel overwhelemed. Don't be. Our Welcome Week has over 100 events, or opportunities, to make new friends. As an out-of-state student who knew absolutely no one when I arrived here, Auburn immediately became home to me.
In three sentences The Auburn family loves diversity and welcomes new people; therefore, Auburn University is definitely a great choice for anyone and everyone. There are plenty of organizations to join here that will help you find your niche in life. The faculty here genuinely wants you to succeed.

Categories Comments Campus Safety Being the center of a rather small town, campus is very safe to begin with, but we have several precautions that make it even safer. We have a security shuttle that will pick you up and take you anywhere on campus for free. If you want to run at night, the ROTC will come run with you so you're not alone. Campus is very well lit and emergency telephones are easily accessible. A large number of campus security guards are around day and night for added security.
Greek Life Auburn has 17 sororities and 28 fraterneties, as well as six NPHC organizations. About 30% of Auburn students are members of a greek organization. Most fraternities have off campus houses, many of which are located in either old row or new row. Sororites at Auburn do not have houses, but have designated halls in the Village on campus.
Clubs and Activities Auburn has a club for practically everything. If you're into anything from video gaming to radio DJing, there's a club for you. We also have dozens of club and intramural sports, including soccer, rugby, ultimate, and softball.
Great for these types of students Auburn is a big state university, meaning we have all kinds of different people. For the most part, Auburn students are well rounded individuals, who want to succeed in school but also know how to enjoy themselves.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus Auburn is a campus full of history and tradition. We have tons of crazy rituals, like toilet papering Toomer's Corner when we win football games. And don't forget to say War Eagle!
Bang for the buck Auburn gives you an excellent college experience, with a good balance of academic rigor and opportunites for expressing yourself and enjoying your time at college.
What to do for fun Auburn has tons of campus organizations, including sports, religious groups, student government, and hundreds of clubs. All sporting events (with the obvious exception of football) are free for students so you can always catch a soccer game or gymnastics meet if you're looking for something fun to do. The on campus gym is free to students and is usually a good place to pick up basketball or try an exercise class. Auburn is a pretty small town, but the people make it fun so you can always find things to do, but if you need a little more excitement, you're only an hour and a half away from Birmingham or Atlanta.
Food and Dining Aubrn has a mandatory $995 meal plan for on-campus students (this is reduced to $300 for off campus students). This money works like a debit card in that everything has a dollar amount (no points or preset meals). There are many different food options such as Papa Johns, Salsaritas, Chic-fil-a, Panda Express, and Au Bon Pain. We also have several food trucks that come on campus at times to add variety. There are food options all across campus. The biggest drawback to on campus dining is the lack of cafeterias. The Tiger Zone in the Village Dining is the only all-you-can-eat kind of place on campus. It's a little pricey, but all of the athletes eat there for a reduced price so you're always sure to spot some football players!
Dorm Life We have three on campus residence hall groups: the Hill, the Quad, and the Village. The Hill and Quad both consist of two rooms, each with two people, joined by a bathroom. The Hill is cheaper and the rooms are a bit larger, but the Quad is more centrally located. The Village is suite style living; each student has their own bedroom and four bedrooms share a living room, kitchenette, and two full bathrooms. There are special dorms for honors students and learning communities as well as halls designated for sororities (there are no sorority houses at Auburn). On campus housing is very limited, so if you want to live on campus you need to submit your housing deposit early!
Academic Rigor Auburn allows you to make your course load as rigorous as you would like and offers a variety of challenging classes and opportunities for academic success. We have an excellent Honors program that allows students to take more challenging classes with more one-on-one attention from professors.
Tips for prospective students Apply early for everything! You can get the schedule you want as long as you plan ahead and are prepared to sign up for classes. On campus housing fills up VERY quickly so if you want to live in the dorms, put in your housing deposit as soon as you can. If you want to go to football games (which you should do because home games are AWESOME) you need to be ready to sign up for tickets at the exact time they are available to you, otherwise you probably won't get them (or you'll have to pay an arm and a leg for them). Also, Auburn people are really friendly; if you have a question about ANYTHING (help finding a building etc), don't be afraid to ask!
In three sentences Auburn is a big, southern university with the feel of a small, close knit community. No matter what your interests, you can find an academic path that suits you, as well as endless clubs and activities to keep you busy. Auburn lets you enjoy the college experience to the fullest.

Categories Comments Greek Life Greek Life is a major part of Auburn, but it's not required to have a social life.
Clubs and Activities There's a club for everything, literally. And if we don't have something for you, you can make your own club. All you have to do is find people to join with you and write the bylaws of the club. It's that easy!
Great for these types of students Auburn is great for everyone. No matter who you are, there is a place for you here.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus At Auburn, our biggest tradition is rolling the Toomer's oak trees after every victory. Another historical location on campus is the university seal, located in front of Langdon Hall. The legend goes that if you walk on the seal and you are a man, you will not graduate. If you're a woman and do so, you'll never marry. More recently it has been said that if you walk on the seal, your children will be Alabama fans.
Bang for the buck It's expensive, but what college isn't? And as an Auburn student, you get the experience of a lifetime. There's no place like it. The education is top of the line, and you meet people everywhere who change your life for the better. At Auburn, memories are made.
What to do for fun Well, of course there are always the sporting events. Auburn always has something going on, whether it's a football game or outdoor movies. There are lots of organizations to get involved in, too.
Food and Dining The on-campus dining is great! There's a wide variety of restaurants; they have everything from Chick-Fil-A to Chinese. And there are a lot of restaurants very close to campus, too.
Dorm Life The dorms are small, but on the up side everyone is super nice. The dorms are right in the middle of everything too. They're definitely in walking distance of downtown Auburn, and they're pretty central on campus.
Academic Rigor The classes are a big adjustment from high school, but the teachers are very personal and willing to help any way they can.
Tips for prospective students Try your best, but don't forget to enjoy Auburn! It's a beautiful campus and a great city. If you're like me, you'll feel at home immediately.
In three sentences Auburn is amazing! The campus feels like home, and everyone feels like family. Being an Auburn Tiger was the best decision of my life!

Categories Comments Campus Safety Upon your entrance to Auburn University at Camp War Eagle, you receive a multitude of knowledge about campus safety. There are information sessions, campus security numbers are given to you, and even the opportunity to get a rape whistle. As you walk around campus, you will notice the many illuminated blue emergency hubs in case anything dire happens to you while on campus.
Greek Life Auburn'Ã?Â?s Greek life is very plentiful. With the main panhellenic fraternities and sororities, there is definitely a lot to choose from. There is no lack of frats or sororities, as whatever your interests are, Auburn can match it. The fraternities are separated by old row and new row. If you have the dream of huge frat parties and beautiful houses, then new row is for you. If you want that closer-knit hanging with the guys feel, old row is for you.
Clubs and Activities There are a multitude of clubs here at Auburn. It does not matter who you are, you can find an activity. For those who want to be involved, there is UPC(University Program Council) who orchestrates events around campus, there is SGA(Student Government Association) for those looking for a position over the student body. There are also a lot smaller fun clubs like the outdoors club or the Quidditch club for the Harry Potter lovers out there.
Great for these types of students Auburn is a great school for all types of students. The diversity was a little surprising at first. However, if I had to give a specific classification to which type of student would thrive here, it would be the sociable student. Auburn is known as the friendliest village on the plains because the majority of students here are nice. So, if you're sociable, you'Ã?Â?ll meet tons of people.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus There are great deals of traditions that happen at Auburn, however, there are a few that stick out. The iconic rolling of the ToomerÃ?Â?s corner trees after every win is the biggest tradition. In addition, there is Hey Day, where everyone on campus gets name tags with their names and you greet everyone you come by. There is also the widely observed tradition of not stepping on the school crest, or else it is rumored that violators will fail out of Auburn and never graduate.
What to do for fun For Auburn to be located in a rural area without much going on, there is always something going on. From the time you start school there is welcome week which provides lots of activities and chances to meet people. If you branch out, there are lots of frat parties, local bars, and house parties in the different apartment complexes around the city.
Food and Dining There are numerous places to go eat on and off campus. The most popular place to find most students would be in the Student Center located in the central area of campus. However, if ever you want to branch outside of what's on campus, there are a multitude of places to eat and a lot of the times you can acquire brochures or coupons for the different chains as there are a lot of discounts for students.
Dorm Life As far as dormitory life is concerned, Auburn is like any other institute. You have your pros and your cons. The bulk of the regular dorms here are not very attractive, although the athletic and sorority dorms are beautiful. There haven't been very many complaints that I've heard about as far as not getting along with roommates. That could be due to the well-known fact that most Auburn students are very friendly.
Academic Rigor If ever you've taken Accelerated Program classes in high school, then you pretty much have a grasp on about how hard the rigor is here at Auburn. The engineering program at Auburn is excellent and as a result most classes required for any engineering major are pretty tough. However, the general scope of the rigor here is pretty much average. Auburn is not a school where you can get by without studying.
Tips for prospective students Since Auburn is a big university, it is very easy to get lost in the campus life. Make sure you stay on top of your classes at all costs. There are a lot of opportunities for tutoring and help with classes. But while you are studying, it's important not to overdo it and enjoy your time here. Finding a balance is what is key.
In three sentences Auburn University is everything you expect in a big school. It possesses historic beauty, deep pageantry, a multitude of diversity, and is well respected throughout the country. There is so much to do, so many opportunities for meeting people, and so many chances for fun.

Bang for the buck There are many facilities on campus such as fitness buildings.
Academic Rigor It's been named one of the toughest schools to get an A at, so it is quite tough but it is very doable. The library becomes almost a social scene at night. It isn't uncool to be there :) you can put in a lot of study hours

Did learn a lot Auburn University is a wonderful place to pursue a higher education and prepare to the career world. It offers exceptional classes in many different fields of study and the staff is extremely helpful in guiding you through the program. In addition to challenging classes, there are countless ways to be involved on campus. From yearbook, to satellite building groups, to volunteering you can fill your plate extremely quickly with great opportunities that will contribute to the university and help build your resume as well. If you decide to complete a program at Auburn University, you become a member of a familly that stretches worldwide, and one of the greatest helps is having that connection with people when trying to enter a career. Auburn Alumni really go out of their way to help new graduates get good jobs. Even if the person interviewing you isn't an Auburn Alumni, having Auburn as your Alma Mater really places you above a lot of other graduates vying for the same job because employers know that Auburn offers some of the best education and job experience to their students.

Tips for prospective students take as many high level classes in high school as possible, study hard for every upcoming test even if you think you don't need to, study with friends and fellow classmates, be optimistic!
Bang for the buck Though a lot more expensive for out of state students, I think Auburn is worth the price paid (19,000 dollars for out of state). It allows students from all backgrounds the opportunity to learn together in the classroom as well as about each other.
Am enjoying being here Auburn is a great place; there's plenty of places to go to unwind from classes and offers a fun and challenging academic experience.
Am learning a lot Auburn has challenged me academically in every subject. English, which has always been an easy subject for me, has required me to go in for extra help and to remain 100% engaged in each paper I've written. The science classes have been very difficult, but I know I'm learning a lot when the material begins to stick and becomes easier to recall and apply.

Tips for prospective students Toomer's Corner, Auburn Football. If your ever in Auburn for a visit and definitely for school, these are the two things that you can't miss.
Bang for the buck Auburn is great for your money. Many students here get scholarships that help out tremendously. Your academic counselors can help out with scholarships if you ask.
Am enjoying being here Auburn is the best college in the SEC, better yet, in the US. Its the gift that keeps on giving and you always meet someone new everyday. The weather is awesome all year around and you can't beat being in the South.

Bang for the buck Out of state is pretty expensive, but it is well worth it.
Am enjoying being here Auburn is the best atmosphere for anything you are looking for. The fall is consumed by football season which is great. After an Auburn win, you can always go down to Toomer's Corner and roll our oak trees with toilet paper, then grab a nice cold lemonade at Toomer's Drugs! Auburn is a great place to sit outside and run or do any activity you want. Auburn also has many social fraternities and sororities that you can get involved in.
Am learning a lot Auburn has some of the best professors in the nation. They all have office hour times and will help you whenever you need it.

Categories Comments Great for these types of students Type A personalities, strong academic students, athletes, students with a desire to learn and to work hard, students looking for challenges and for success. Also great for students that enjoy being involved in campus acitivties and programs. It will be tough and you will work hard but you will certainly enjoy yourself along the way.
Tips for prospective students Inform yourself before accepting your admission offer. Make sure that you are making the best decision for yourself. Don't worry if you don't know just yet what you want to study, people rarely do as freshmen. Do your best to build a strong resume in high school and start getting involved on campus early if you come here. Find a handful of organizations that you find interesting and try for them, and if you join them, stay involved! Having a large amount of participation in three or four groups is much better than minimal in ten. You won't regret it. Keep your head up and make friendships early on, as these will come in handy all the time in the future. Finally, get involved with your professors. Go in during office hours and help them match a name to a face. Establishing good relationships with professors will certainly assist you in later years.
Bang for the buck Auburn is an excellent school academically and socially, but for out of state students iis a bit expensive without a scholarship or two. Thankfully, AU is good about giving out university scholarships to incoming freshmen, and continues to offer other scholarships to upperclassmen as well. However, as they are competitive, it is important to maintain success once you are enrolled.
Am enjoying being here Campus life at Auburn is excellent. There is a very high sense of affiliation among the students; they are proud to call themselves tigers. The University Program Council does a good job of finding talent to come and perform for students, and offers many extracurricular activities to become involved in.
Academic Rigor I am in the Honors College and the Chemical Engineering program here at AU, and from day one you are thrust into the program. There is a faculty here that is very impressive and will do their best to assist you in any way possible. All of the classes you take here, especially those in-major, will benefit you academically in some way.

Categories Comments Great for these types of students Hard-core drinkers/ Country boys and girls/ sorority and fraternity type people/ die-hard Auburn fans
Bang for the buck As an out of state student, Auburn was by no means worth the 40000 dollar tuition- the town was pretty po-dunk and a lot of the students seemed like there was nothing to do but party. The campus was pretty but not THAT pretty.
Will enjoy being here The campus was pretty, but it was in the middle of nowhere. It seems like if you aren't drinking or at a sorority/fraternity party, there would be nothing to do. I am a busy-body so the location was not right for me.
Will learn a lot The academic program seemed great- i loved that the school provides counselors that help you pick a major best suited for you, and tutors that guaranteed a letter grade better on the next test. It seemed that the faculty genuinely wanted you to succeed there, which was nice.

Bang for the buck Housing is a bit expensive..but overall, I believe Auburn is a bang for the buck :)
Will enjoy being here I have visited the campus and it is beautiful and full of school-spirited and some pretty cool people..the location is big enough where I won't get bored.but also small enough that there won't be any big-city distractions.

Tips for prospective students GET INVOLVED! Go to everything, do anything you can just to see what you like. You never know what you might end up liking or who you will meet.
Bang for the buck Im from out-of-state so tuition is super expensive, but I think its totally worth it!! Auburn is like one big family. Everyone is so friendly and welcoming. There is always something to do on campus and so many ways to get involved. The food on campus is also awesome! No cafeteria food! The academics are also top notch. Learning is a top priority at Auburn and the stats prove it. There are also multiple resources available to students on campus like a writing center, student tutoring, repair shop, research experts, book rental, study rooms, and so much more! And of course you get football which is a HUGE plus!
Am enjoying being here Auburn is a big school, but feels like a small school. The campus is beautiful with everything in walking distance. There are many things to get involved with on campus. Greek life is part of Auburn, but not huge. There are also many ways to get involved in SGA. Tiger Tuesdays, which I joined my freshman year, is a freshman only branch of SGA. You meet tons of new people and get your foot in the door of becoming a leader on campus. There are also intramural teams for any sport you can think of. There are so many ways to discover Auburn and become involved. Auburn also offers SEC football!! Game days are the best days ever! The campus transforms to a tailgaters paradise and everyone is rocking their orange and blue. The student section at Jordan-Hare Stadium is the best place to be...ever! Everyone is best friends and yells the fight song and cheers together. Nothing beats game day in Auburn..NOTHING! And rolling Toomers Corners after a win in one of the best experiences in the world. You have to see it to believe it!
Am learning a lot The classes are hard, but not impossible. All the professors want you to do well and are willing to help in any way they can if you just ask. The professors, or atleast the ones I had, try to make class interesting and easy to understand. The classes that are known for being hard like biology have SI sessions. SI is taught by a student who has already passed the class and holds a session at night to review material and help guide students on what to study.

Categories Comments Campus Safety campus is really safe with the safety poles all around and the transit system during the day going on and off campus. then at night the toomers ten for students off campus, and the safety shuttle for students on campus make it easy and safe to get around.
Clubs and Activities there are so many different clubs and activities that you are introduced to several days each semester to make applying as easy as possible. the biggest clubs being sga, tiger tuesdays, and upc, plus so many others for all kinds of students and activities.
Great for these types of students for people who want to go to a school with tons of school spirit and tradition, and at the same time feel like you belong to a family who all share the same pride and excitement at belonging to this school
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus of course there is the tradition of rolling toomer's trees and getting toomer's lemonade, the best lemonade in the world. and then before every home football game seeing the eagle fly out while thousands of people are shouting the same war eagle. and one of my favorite things to hear on campus is the fight song coming from samford hall every day at 12:00.
Bang for the buck it is a fairly reasonable tuition and there is a meal plan for on and off campus students that carries over between semesters each year. there are also scholarship opportunities for those in and out of state, since it can be rather expensive to attend a 4 year college
What to do for fun for fun you can go off campus to tiger town or into downtown auburn to eat and go into some of the stores (although it is pretty small). on campus there are clubs and organizations, as well as, intramural sports and regular games to attend pretty much year round. and then of course there is always just hanging out with friends outside samford or cater hall or inside the student center.
Food and Dining the food on campus is good and there are a lot of choices, but since there is only one buffet it can get repetitive eating the same things all year. the prices of some of the food is also fairly high, but the quality of the food is good.
Dorm Life the dorms are pretty nice, especially the village dorms where you have your own room and share a common room with three others. there are quiet hours to make it easier to sleep/study and the ra's do an okay job of keeping everything in order and students happy. the location of two of the three dorms is not always convenient, but with campus being so small you really can not expect them to be.
Academic Rigor i would say most classes are fairly hard, but the teachers make themselves available for any problems or questions you might have. you need plenty of time for studying and homework, but going to class on a regular basis and paying attention to lectures makes it easier to cope with the difficulty of each class.
Tips for prospective students get as involved as possible without overloading yourself, it is easy to say you want to do something and not take the time to actually do it and on the other hand it is easy to get too involved in too many things and not be able to put enough time and energy into what you need to be doing. classes are hard and you need time to study and relax, but you also want to be involved in extracurricular activities to have an outlet, just make sure you have a balanced schedule with classes, relaxation, studying, and fun.
In three sentences auburn is an amazing school with teachers who care and administration that does everything possible to make sure students get the help they need and deserve. classes are fairly big until you get into a specific major, which can make it difficult to get personal help, but teachers have office hours and most are flexible in order to see each student if necessary. there are so many ways to get involved on campus and the application/interview process is easy and quick for the most part.

Categories Comments Campus Safety there are safety buses that run from 6pm until 5am every single day that will take you anywhere in the auburn area you would like to go. and its free! there are also police buttons placed around campus, so if anyone is in an uncomfortable situation, all they have to do is hit the button and it signals the campus police as well as campus security.
Greek Life the greek organizations here are very well organized. any chapter a student chooses to be apart of will be a great experience,
Clubs and Activities i am apart of the women;s ultimate frisbee team, and all i have to say about auburn clubs is that they are a great way to be apart of something and feel good about it. i love representing my school in any way i can!
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus all the traditions on campus all relate to being apart of the auburn family. the saying war eagle when you see someone on campus or see someone anywhere wearing auburn gear. tiger nights, which is a chance to get to know fellow students and community members. all the chants at the football game are also great traditions.
Food and Dining the food here is amazing!!! auburn does not have cafeterias and mess halls. auburn has restaurants like chick fil a, panda express, au bon pain, salsaritas, and things like that. the food here is amazing and at an extremely low price.
Dorm Life the dorms on campus are very safe and affordable. some are small, but others are like living in your room at home. there are even offcampus private dorms that are right next to the school, but considered off campus.
Academic Rigor the classes here are challenging. i would not recommend coming to auburn if you are going to slack off and not do the work. a student has to keep up and really apply themselves. it's not easy, but it is fun.
Tips for prospective students for anyone considering attending auburn university, i would just give them these four words: auburn family, all in! if a student just wants to come to school here and get the grades and leave, this isn't the place. everyone here at auburn is here because they want to be apart of the school and the culture, they want to help auburn grow into an even stronger university. making the grades and getting the degree is only half of the fun here at auburn university.
In three sentences auburn is all about family. you are not just attending a university here, you are joining a strong, tight nit family where it's not just about football and athletics, or academics and being the best. being at auburn university is about being apart of the family, being all in, and loving it!

Greek Life there is a very strong greek presence on campus.
Clubs and Activities there is practically every sort of organization available. there will definitely be something students can fit into.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus as an auburn tiger, we roll toomer's corner (trees) every time we win a football game. when there is a game, the campus comes alive with the auburn family. even if you think you don't like football, you might be surprised!
Bang for the buck for in-state students, i would say this school is fairly priced. auburn university looks great on resumes, and it really prepares its students for the work-field.
What to do for fun there are lots of options; i prefer the local churches. there are great ministries located around auburn.
Food and Dining there is not a cafeteria, but a food court instead. the options are good, but not all are healthy.
Tips for prospective students find your niche. auburn has a lot to offer. don't be afraid to try new things, but at the same time don't do anything you know you shouldn't.
In three sentences auburn university is a family-oriented school that takes pride in its students, faculty, and sports teams. auburn is located in a college town, which makes moving away from home more comfortable. it opens up so many opportunities for its students; i'm always learning something!

Categories Comments Campus Safety we offer a night shuttle service that runs from 6pm to 6am that transports students to and from various locations across campus. the shuttles are free, and you can call them whenever you need a ride back to your dorm, to the library, etc. unarmed security guards, check each academic building during the night, and the dormitories and surrounding areas are patrolled from 4pm to 8am. officers are not allowed inside the dorms, their main job is to secure all entries, exits and to detect and deter any possible suspicious/criminal activity
Great for these types of students if you love your family, friends, good eats and good times, and you know how to make or discover your own (legal) fun auburn is fantastic!!
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus rolling toomer's corner after au athletic wins, au football and basketball pre-game festivites
What to do for fun auburn has alot of family-based/family owned stores that you would not discover unless you explore, so my suggestion is to get to know the town and surrounding areas better as well as the main campus.
Food and Dining there are alot of fast food choices and healthy choices. we have a full chic-fil-a, papa johns, nathans, we also offer chinese, tex-mex, and we have added new healthy options, such as smoothies, yogurts, salads, etc.
Dorm Life i have never lived in a dorm, so i am not sure how to rate dorm life, but there are some dorms that are luxury apartment style dorms, and there are other dorms that still remain from the 60s and need rennovation and innovation. it is a first come, first served as to which dorm you are assigned so, good luck!
Academic Rigor class difficulty depends on the teaching style of your teacher. some teachers offer loads of extra credit opportunities, others not so much. the teachers i have had are very open, adaptable and approachable. if you, others or the class as a majority have trouble understanding something, they will slow down and even stop until you get it. class size does not matter, at auburn, you are not just a number, you are the student!!!
Tips for prospective students it is a big campus, affectionately called the plains...bring a bike. even though it is a big campus, student say matters!! it is very taliored to student needs and are always open to new ideas. the only negative thing about auburn is student parking sucks :( be prepared to ride the transit system offered by auburn university for au students and faculty. it comes out of your tution so you might as well use it!!
In three sentences auburn is au-some! lots of tradition, and family values and atomspheres, it is your home away from home!!

Categories Comments Campus Safety Campus safety is a top priority at Auburn and it is very evident. The campus guards and cops are very friendly. Auburn also has AU Alert which is a neat program that will send you an email, text, and/or automated phone call if something goes awry or when there is a weather warning.
Clubs and Activities There are a huge variety of clubs to join at Auburn. There are also tons of activities that are club- or university-sponsored that non-members can attend.
Great for these types of students Auburn is great for all types of students! They are very accommodating for those with physical and/or learning disabilities. I'd say they are also very helpful for the average student, but Auburn doesn't believe in average students. We are a colorful family of unique individuals and the campus staff is always willing to accommodate any of these individuals with whatever their needs are.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus Football game season in Auburn is always a fun time. Most of the students are sporting their orange and blue gear and team spirit is at an all-time high. After every win, students and locals roll Toomer's Corner with more toilet paper than you ever knew existed.
Bang for the buck Auburn University is not cheap, nor is any college, really. But your degree will be priceless in your life and career and Auburn offers many degree programs and high-quality ones at that.
What to do for fun Auburn has a good amount to offer for weekends and free days. If you're looking for a quiet place to study or just take a walk, the Arboretum on campus is just the spot. If you want to let your inner party animal out, there are plenty of clubs downtown that always offer a good time. There is also a local bowling alley, skating rink, movie theater, water park, art museum, malls, and more.
Food and Dining There is a ton of variety on the Auburn campus. We have our own Chick-Fil-A, Papa John's, Au Bon Pain, Chick-n-Grill, Starbucks, etc. Whether you're looking for a fresh, healthy salad or a juicy burger or steak and fries, one of the campus dining areas will have just the meal (or snack) you're craving.
Dorm Life Dorm life is an experience. If you like your space, opt to have a room to yourself (though you will still share a bathroom with up to two people.) Auburn University has different dorm types as of a couple years ago. The Village on campus is an apartment-style dorm that is a little more expensive but provides much of the amenities of an apartment that the dorms do not offer. But whichever you choose, the on-site resident advisors are always well-trained and very friendly.
Academic Rigor Academic rigor will depend on what you take. The amount and intensity of work will be different in Honors Engineering than it will be in General Psychology. The teachers tend to be fair in their amount of work and what they expect.
Tips for prospective students Get involved! Tour the campus, sit in on a class, talk to advisors and current students. A loud WAR EAGLE! is your ticket to talk to just about anyone on campus.
In three sentences Auburn University is amazing! Once you're there, you're part of the Auburn family. The education is top-knotch, the advisors are incredibly helpful, and the experience is one-of-a-kind.

Categories Comments Campus Safety A Night Securit Shuttle will drive you anywhere on campus after 6pm until 6am. Tiger Transits will take you anywhere during the day. Security personnel can frequently be seen at all hours, and emergency call stations are scattered through campus. The surrounding city is relatively small, quiet, and safe.
Clubs and Activities Auburn had hundreds of clubs and organizations. They are active without consuming your life, and are a fantastic way to make friends.
Great for these types of students Everyone would be happy in Auburn. It has hundreds of organizations, a ridiculously large selection of majors and truly has something for everyone.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus Rolling Toomer's Corner after a football win is my favorite Auburn tradition.
Bang for the buck Auburn is extremely reasonably priced for in-state students. The Auburn family is a real entity.
What to do for fun Hanging out with friends on the Quad, volunteering at local places, and rolling Toomer's Corner after a win are exceptionally fun activities in Auburn.
Food and Dining The food is fantastic. Instead of cafeteria set-ups, the whole campus is covered with varying types of restaurants. They have everything from fast food to home cooking.
Dorm Life The dorms are amazing. I suggest living in the Quad, it takes fewer than five minutes to walk to classes. The community feels homey, but in a way with much more freedom.
Academic Rigor The classes are challenging. However, if you expend the effort, you will do well.
Tips for prospective students I would suggest to join a Learning Community your Freshman year. I found a large group of like-minded peers who have steadily remained my friends and classmates.
In three sentences The beautiful campus of Auburn University has become my home. It is an amazing community of people; the classes are challenging and rewarding. The professors care about individual success and will help in any way they are able.

Categories Comments Campus Safety We have campus security. Also there is a shuttle that is on campus all the time that provides rides for the late night study groups to the drunken partiers.
Greek Life While I am not involved in Greek life I do have several friends that are. They love it. I am unable to afford the fees, I here they can be quite steep but the greek life here does seem to be very fun. Sometimes they may be a bit demanding but they also provide alot of support for the members.
Clubs and Activities As mentions before, Auburn University offers so many club and organization oportunities for its students. There is a type of organization for every kind of person here.
Great for these types of students There are some local bars great for the partiers. On campus events for the studentd that like to be involved with the school, also there is many organizations that are loads of fun!
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus Toomer's corner! Every one knows Auburn is known for rolling our beautiful trees. However this tradition might not live for long since the poisoning occured! Lets hope we find a soluion to save our precious history!
Bang for the buck There is pretty cheap restraunts around Auburn. Also, the campus events are for the most part free for the university students, this makes it easy to find something fun and free!
What to do for fun Campus events! the sports are so fun to attend. Aubie is adorable! Also, with Opelika being close it is easy to shop at the mall.
Food and Dining The food at Auburn is better then I expected. It's not the cafeteria food. The student dining located by the aparment style dorms is the best!
Dorm Life Never lived in a dorm. But friends tell me they do like the convenient walking distance to class and campus events.
Academic Rigor Sometimes it seems the professors may forget we have five to six other classes. You will have to learn time management. Also, don't stress to much, or you will set yourself up for failure.
Tips for prospective students Be prepared to study! College isn't all about partying. If you care about your future be ready to put in alot of effort in course work.
In three sentences I love Auburn. While the classes can be demanding I am glad I chose to come here. I believe it is a wonderful college.

Categories Comments Campus Safety There are emergency buttons everywhere, and a shuttle that you can call and they'll come get you and take you anywhere on campus.
Clubs and Activities Lots of them.
Great for these types of students Most everyone except those wanting to go into video game design or animation or adventure education. Those are the only majors I know of that Auburn doesn't have available.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus Everyone used to roll the Oaks on Toomer's Corner after every football victory, but then an Alabama fan poisoned them. That was our biggest tradition.
What to do for fun Check out the Jule Collins Smith Museum of Art, walk around the beautiful Arboretum, join a club sports team, have a Nerf gun battle, join the Harry Potter Alliance, take a bowling class, video-game it up at the Student Center... I could go on.
Food and Dining Great selection of good food, and it's pretty reasonably priced at most places.
Academic Rigor There are very few blow-off classes. Even the non-major-related ones require work and studying. For the most part this is a good thing, but you will run into the occasional professor who takes things too far.
Tips for prospective students Go to class and take advantage of all the free activities that are always going on on campus.
In three sentences Auburn is a classy university. The professors really know what they're doing, the students are generally well-mannered and intelligent, and the campus is lovely. Also, anyone who attends there will be challenged in the best of ways.

Categories Comments Campus Safety I've walked around on campus by myself pretty late and I've yet to fear for my safety.
Greek Life Greek life is huge on campus -- just be aware that sorority girls and frat guys are easy to point out
Clubs and Activities Lots of different clubs -- something for everyone!
Great for these types of students I like AU because campus doesn't cater to specific types of students, everyone feels comfortable and at home here.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus TPing trees on Toomer when the football team wins...I just transferred here when we won the national championship and it was definitely an experience I will never forget. Also, stepping on the seal in front of Langdon Hall = bad luck.
Bang for the buck I pay out-of-state which is pretty expensive but for the most part I think it is worth it. The gym could be a lot nicer, but they're building a new one.
What to do for fun There is chewacla state park up the road, tigertown, bars right near campus...so much to do!
Food and Dining You definitely won't have a problem finding something to eat because campus has everything. I'm a vegetarian so I was worried I'd just be stuck eating salads but definitely not the case, there's something for everyone.
Dorm Life I lived in the Quad for my first 2 semesters which was nice because I was in the middle of campus. I Definitely prefer living off campus though -- sharing a bathroom with 3 other girls is not really for me.
Academic Rigor I transferred here expecting classes to be about the same as my old school. I was wrong -- classes are bigger and require a lot of effort if you want to make an A.
In three sentences Great school. Great people. Great atmosphere.

Categories Comments Greek Life HUGE on campus. Provides most of the social scene at the university. Hard to make friends with many in Greek life if you yourself are not apart of it.
Clubs and Activities There are hundreds of clubs and activities, though the ones that seem to stick out the most on campus are the student government association, the Greek organizations, the University Program Council, and IMPACT, a volunteer program.
Great for these types of students This school is great for students who are from Alabama, as they will probably know many people and have many friends there with them, for students who like big populations of students and large classes, and for students interested in Greek life and football.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus The rolling of the tree on Toomer's Corner anytime the football team wins a game is a really interesting tradition that the school has.
What to do for fun Honestly, unless a person is very into partying at fraternity houses and going to bars every weekend, there is little else to openly do for fun besides go to the few restaurants and shops offered downtown. Lake Martin is only a 30-minute drive, offering scenic views and boating, but the nearest city, Atlanta, is almost two hours away.
Food and Dining The dining at Auburn is probably one of the biggest problems I have wit the university. First of all, the university has no cafeteria-style venue for dining. Many prospective students or students from other colleges find this hard to believe, but the only types of food venues on the campus are kiosk-type booths for fast food chains and some Auburn-created venues that are similar to Subway and other build your own... type restaurants. The fact that the only dining open on weekends is fast food (Denny's and Chik-Fil-A) further adds to the poor quality of the school's dining. Also, the dining hall in the Hill is of the worst quality, with almost no healthy choices for dining, poor staff availability, and odd dining hours.
Dorm Life The dorms are actually quite nice, though there are few. All three groupings of dorms: the Hill, the Quad, and the Village, have suite bathrooms, as well as large bedrooms with two closets and a desk and chair for each roommate. The residence life staff are very helpful and friendly, as well, and there are always activities going on in the dorm lobbies if one wants to find something to do. Laundry is a tad expensive, however, but there are enough washers and dryers to go around, so that it is never too crowded.
Academic Rigor I am in the Honors College here, and honestly I have been disappointed as a whole with the honors curriculum. An honors interdisciplinary class I took last semester, called The Human Odyssey, proved to be far less interesting and engaging than its name, with teachers who were not very interested in the individual student or in hearing the opinions of students. The honors literature class I am in this semester, World Literature I, also has proved far less engaging and challenging than any honors class at my high school was. Thus, I have been quite disappointed in the academic rigor here.
Tips for prospective students Decide whether you would prefer to be in a city, small town, or rural environment for college, as the setting here is very specific to your preference. Know whether you want to attend a school where Greek Life is a huge part of the school's social life and whether you want to join a Greek organization. Take your time mapping out a route to all of your classes before the first day of class, so that you're not lost walking around campus. Familiarize yourself with main buildings and walkways.
In three sentences Auburn University is a large, public school centered around academics and social activity. The university is well known and loved for its football team. The small, friendly town of Auburn surrounding the university is dedicated to the school, as well as to catering to its students in any way.

Academic Rigor Spend at least two hours studying per in-class hour.

Categories Comments Campus Safety Campus security patrols are friendly and effective. As well as emergency stations set up along campus to alert the police immediately if there is a problem. However, the friendliness of the community often makes these precautions unnecessary.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus Rolling the Toomer's Trees is a tradition deep in Auburn's heart. After every athletic victory it is a meeting place for fans throughout the community to gather and celebrate the shared excitement while toilet papering two massive trees between the university and downtown. The energy here is something that simply cannot be understood without experiencing it.
What to do for fun The University is always hosting fun events such as concerts, carnivals, outdoor movie showings, and other acts such as comedians like Kevin Hart. Also the huge number of clubs with be sure to fill you're time with exciting events.
Food and Dining There are many different places to eat all across campus, even late at night. The food plan makes the use of the dining halls very simple, and with the wide range of choices, you are sure not to go hungry.
Dorm Life The dorms are very clean, and do not have communal bathrooms (which was a huge plus for me). Although parking is far away, there is a great food plan and laundry rooms on campus that make it not necessary to leave often. Also the campus is within walking distance to down town, and the transit goes straight to the dorm parking lot.
Academic Rigor The classes can be very difficult, but professors are always available for extra help. Also, the University offers many tutoring programs. When classes become difficult, there is always help available.
Tips for prospective students Be prepared to make the most out of the transit as parking is not the greatest. However, the transit goes all over town and runs all day. It is very convenient.
In three sentences Auburn University is unique for many different reasons. The friendliness of the community is recognized nationwide, matched with professors who truly care about the welfare of their students. The University offers many opportunities, and goes above and beyond to help students navigate their path to success.

Categories Comments Campus Safety Auburn has a great transit system that runs during the day. At night, the safety shuttle (AKA the drunk bus) takes students from one end of campus to the other to prevent drunk driving. It also prevents girls from dangerously walking across campus alone in the dark. If anyone is ever in danger or being chased, there are emergency posts located within seeing-distance of each other. These allow for someone to push the button and have the police locate them if needed.
Greek Life I did not rush and do not plan to, but I have friends in sororities that love it.
Clubs and Activities I am an Architecture major, so I am a member of the American Institute for Architecture Students. There are clubs related to every major on campus and they're a great way to get to know people in your major. Also, I am involved in several campus ministries, which allowed me to meet people my age who like the same kinds of activities as I do.
Great for these types of students I believe that everyone has a place in Auburn! There are groups for people who like to go to church, people who like to party, or people who like to play sports.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus Auburn is full of fun traditions! After any sporting victory, we go downtown and roll the Oaks on Toomer's Corner with toilet paper. On any game day, everyone is so friendly that you heard War Eagle! shouts wherever you go. Also, Hey Day is one of my favorite events where all students receive name tags and walk around campus to make new friends. And you can't go to Auburn without trying the famous Toomer's lemonade at Toomer's Corner!
Bang for the buck Auburn University is expensive, especially for out-of-state students, but you won't find another school as great as Auburn. The traditions are like no other, the students are friendly, and the staff genuinely wants to help the students get the best education possible.
What to do for fun Football games are the best! Personally, I got involved in a campus ministry, which was awesome. They have free meals every week, free tailgating during football season, and fun trips to the beach in the spring. I definitely recommend getting involved!
Food and Dining Auburn has a great variety of food choices, from Mexican to Chinese to Chick-Fil-A. I lived in the oldest dorms on campus, where the dining hall does not have very many choices. However, anywhere on campus is a 10-15 minute walk away, so getting food was not a problem. Also, the required dining plan for on-campus students is $1000 per semester. It is a lot of money to spend, but it comes in handy.
Dorm Life This year I lived in a dorm and my roommate was selected randomly. My roommate and I were immediately best friends. Everyone I know of that had a random roommate was happy with their situation. However, my roommate and I did not get along with our suite-mate and the other girls on our hall were very noisy. Luckily, it was easy to escape to the library to study.
Academic Rigor I work a lot in all of my classes, and I currently have a 3.4 GPA. For me, General Physics was a difficult class because I didn't understand my teacher's methods at all. Therefore, I hired a tutor and made a B in the class. This shows that classes are difficult and sometimes you have to put forth an extra effort to get a good grade, but it is worth it.
Tips for prospective students Most classes have an attendance policy, but go to class even if it is not mandatory! Many teachers offer extra credit for students who come to class and teachers are more willing to help students who put forth an effort. Also, don't hesitate to ask your teachers questions. They like being able to connect a face to a name!
In three sentences I love being a student at Auburn University. For the most part, teachers genuinely want to help students who try to do their work. Also, Auburn has a friendly environment, which is wonderful for freshmen who are still learning their way around campus.

Categories Comments Great for these types of students Engineering is popular, football fans will fit right in, and Greek life is a big thing for many students.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus Getting a world-famous Toomer's lemonade from Toomer's drugstore is definitely a must! Toomer's trees are always rolled with toilet paper after every football victory (or at least they were before an Alabama fan poisoned them).
Bang for the buck Scholarships seem to be readily available, which takes a lot of financial burden off of students and their parents.
What to do for fun Can anyone say, Auburn football?? Even for people who aren't football fans, watching campus transform on gamedays and cheering on the Tigers is an incredible experience. And there are always all kinds of different activities going on around campus that fit pretty much any interest.
Food and Dining The food options can seem limited and expensive at times, but Auburn's dining department is working to increase variety in options, make healthier options, and to reduce prices, and I have noticed these changes even in just the one year I have attended.
Dorm Life Living on campus has been a great way to get to know new people. The dorms hold events and activities almost weekly that are a great way to form friendships and relax a bit from the stresses that classes can bring.
Academic Rigor Courses can be difficult, but if you're willing to put in the effort and to work with your professors, it's certainly doable to succeed academically.
Tips for prospective students Apply for on-campus housing very early on, because it fills up very quickly. Get involved with several different things so you can get to know a variety of different people. The friends you make will have a huge impact on your college experience, so it's important to be involved with different things to get to know people and to enrich your overall experience. Study hard, but also be sure to make time for having fun and, of course, watching plenty of Auburn football!
In three sentences My first year at Auburn was incredible--I loved the school spirit and quickly learned to bleed blue and orange. Categories Comments Campus Safety Very safe campus, I've never felt threatened or scared even at night. There are security officers walking around and a security shuttle (drunk bus) you can call to pick you up and take you places for free.
Greek Life Greek life is very big at Auburn. Almost to big if you ask me, it gets kind of clickee.
Clubs and Activities Sports, Rec Sports, Sailing Club is fun and alot of people don't know about it, specific college/ major clubs, the drama majors put on plays for the students, the school band/ orchestra/ chorus has many performances through out the year, frat parties, karaoke downtown.
Great for these types of students Great for students who love the southern tradition. The men all wear the same boat shoes, caches and button ups.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus Toomers Trees.
Bang for the buck Out of state is expensive. In state tuition is a steal for the education you are getting.
What to do for fun Downtown always has something fun going on at night. Most apartment complexes have pools that are entertaining during the warmer seasons. Football is very big at Auburn and the tickets aren't very expensive. Gymnastics is free to go to with a student ID and is very cool to watch.
Food and Dining The food on campus is very good but a little pricey.
Dorm Life Hard to get on campus housing. I would recommend finding a place off campus all four years unless you can stay at the village on campus. There are buses that run every where so off campus is still convenient and many times less expensive.
Academic Rigor Auburn University is a very prestigious school. It offers many opportunities if one looks into them. Because the classes are so big and many of the professors also must do research on the side, it is hard to get enough teacher attention at times.
Tips for prospective students Auburn is a very big fraternity/ sorority school, If you do not enjoy that type of setting the school is not for you. If you are looking to have a top social life at this college you will probably want to join one. Science classes are hard at Auburn, most core classes aren't bad.
In three sentences Auburn is a great school if you stay involved. The campus offers many fun athletic events to attend. It is quite expensive and difficult to keep a high GPA.

Food and Dining The food on campus is actually very good compared to many other schools. We have a great variety. One day you could have a chik fil a sandwich and the next you could have a yummy salad from au Bon pain.
Dorm Life The dorms are actually very nice. The village is brand new and everyone loves it. The resident hall advisors are very kind people.
Academic Rigor Auburn University is not an easy school. You have to go to class and you have to study extremely hard to make good grades.
Tips for prospective students Study hard!! Make your teachers become your friends. Find a good study group. Go to as many football games and other sporting events as possible. Drink toomer's lemonade. Go to class. Have fun!!!

Food and Dining The student center is extremely nice with many different places to eat as well as the other dinning facilities around campus.
Dorm Life There are some very nice dorms but most people tend to live in housing of apartments around campus.
Academic Rigor The classes are hard but challenging, but there are millions of elective and fun courses to enroll in.
Tips for prospective students Come to Auburn anyways. you don't have to have an idea of what you want to do. This University will help you find what you really want to do. You may have your heart set on one major and graduate with a completely unrelated study. Auburn is a place to find your career.
In three sentences Auburn is a highly honored university with a multitude of opportunities. The student body is massive with people from all around the world that come together to for one big tiger community.

Categories Comments Campus Safety Police escort you out of the library if you would like, we also have campus shuttles to keep you from walking home at night, its a very safe campus and we pride ourselves in that here at Auburn.
Greek Life I started in a sorority and some girls love it! I, on the other had did not take too well to the sorority life. But when i was in it, i met my best friends and still talk to my Big who has graduated and moved all the way to Chicago. Close sisterhood will be formed.
Clubs and Activities Fishing, Environmental Club, Humane Society, Greek Life, Biology Club.. everything you think of they got a niche for you!
Bang for the buck Outstanding University, only complain would be the on campus meal plan. You have to upfront pay for campus dining, which in my opinion makes some students spend their money on some over priced food. But from a students point of view, then you not having to spend your work money on meals.
What to do for fun We have so many clubs, groups, sporting events, on campus events, and much more. We have our National Park ten minutes from campus for hiking and taking your dogs out. We have local concerts on campus and big semester events that allow people to meet one another quickly.
Food and Dining Dining is everywhere, as well as our selection in downtown Auburn. Everything is walking distance. We even got new food trucks that have been featured on the cooking show. We have a variety of every type of food you would want!
Dorm Life New dorms have been built called The Village, which are apartment styled. they are very nice and couldn't ask for a better location on campus. They are near all the sporting events and a few blocks from our main campus building called, Haley Center which is also out bookstore. The other dorms such as The Quad and The Hill are great as well. I lived in the Quad and met some of my best friends that I still have to this day (my senior year).
Academic Rigor The teachers are here to help you. Use office hours and get to know your professor, it will only help you academically come out on top. They are people too and what to see their students go far in life and Auburn's professors will prepare you for a great job in the real world as the undergrads call it.
Tips for prospective students If you love SEC college football or any other sports we are recognized for out athletics programs. Our academics are challenging but only for the students benefit to succeed in life.
In three sentences I love Auburn University because of the support you get from fellow Auburn Family. We are all in this together and you see that through our motto of Auburn Family, All In. We are all here to help each other succeed in life and it shows through the people on this campus.

Categories Comments Campus Safety Campus safety is one of the most important things they have there, and I can guarantee you that AU is on top of its game when they want you to be safe. They have apps that you can get on your phone to tell you if it is safe or not to go onto the campus, whether it be a storm coming or a mysterious gas or liquid leaking in the labs.
Greek Life Greek Life is a pretty legit thing. That is one of the most popular things people are doing while they are at Auburn.
Clubs and Activities Again, there are 300+ organizations you can join there! ALSO, you can make your own organization(s)!
Great for these types of students If you want to become more independent, and/or have a home away from home, AU is the place. Honestly, I was not going to enroll to AU because I was an UA fan, and I visited both campuses. AU had a more lively and friendly feeling, plus it has a good program for my major.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus I know that there is a Tiger Walk before every game, there is tree rolling after every win from AU, and a slightly bizarre thing happened while at AU. AU played a team, but they greased the train tracks, so when the train was supposed to stop at that spot, they continued to glide until they couldn't anymore, which got their opponents tired, and Auburn won the game. Haha. Also, there is the 'SEAL'. DO NOT, I repeat, DO NOT step on THE SEAL. 3 bad things will happen to you: 1. You will not graduate from Auburn. 2. You won't find your true love at Auburn. 3. Your kids will not be accepted to Auburn. I don't know if that is completely true, and I'm not going to find out by stepping on the seal...so yeah, DON'T step on it. Haha.
Bang for the buck Yes, Auburn is a little on the expensive side, but I guarantee it is worth every buck. The people you meet, the games, the streets, it is all worth every penny. To make it easier, just find different scholarships that apply to you, like I have stated earlier.
What to do for fun Auburn has 300+ different organizations that you can join, AND ALSO, get this, you can make your OWN organization. Just get at least 10 people, have a constitution, get it signed off by an authorized person, and BAM, you have your organization. Some organizations may be simple like an fraternity/sorority or it could be bizarre, like a Super Mario game playing club (I'm not making that up, this is what a student from AU told me!)
Food and Dining The food... yes! There are a variety of restaurants in the university. You will not have to eat the same food everyday if you don't want to. Different cuisines from all over the world are there in that one university!
Dorm Life Honestly, I have not seen the dorms in the inside, but from the outside, they look pretty cool, I'm going to live off campus in an apartment with one of my buddies who is starting Auburn as a Freshman, while I'm a Junior.
Academic Rigor AU takes its academics seriously. They want you to get the best education as possible. There are extremely smart students going there already, and to have even more intellgent people to enroll is more of a success to Auburn because they actually want to see you do the best that you can and see you get your dream career. I'm in community college right now, and my GPA is a 3.56, but as I enter into the fall semester at Auburn, I'm going to become more of a nerd, and strive for that 4.0.
Tips for prospective students If you are a future student for Auburn, whatever your title is (Freshman, Junior, Sophomore, Transfer, etc.), LOOK UP SCHOLARSHIPS! AS EARLY AS POSSIBLE! AU has a extensive list of different types of scholarships that you may qualify for. Also, don't just look for any scholarships involving the school, find other scholarships out there just by using a search engine. The list goes on and on.
In three sentences Auburn has an atmosphere that speaks 'friendly and family. From the transferring seminar I went to, you can tell that you can get along with these people who are giving you a tour around the campus. This is probably one of the schools where if you want to get away from home, they will take good care of you.

Food and Dining I have been on campus and eaten there. The food is great and the dining areas are kept nicely.
Dorm Life Actually I am not sure, so please ignore this. I'm an incoming freshman, but in order to submit a review all parts need to be filled out.
Academic Rigor Actually I am not sure, so please ignore this. I'm an incoming freshman, but in order to submit a review all parts need to be filled out.
Tips for prospective students Be sure that you can afford it with scholarships! I had someone go home the first day of our two day registration for classes because of finances. It's a great school, but every college has a price tag.
In three sentences The campus is gorgeous and the students and staff are friendly. There is convenient on and off-campus busing that is free with tuition. Overall, Auburn feels like home.

Categories Comments Food and Dining Dining on campus is great, but pricey. There is a meal plan that is included with your tuition.
Dorm Life Dorms are an efficient way to live and learn the first year of college. They are relatively cheap and are located extremely close to classes. You couldn't ask for a better setup.
Academic Rigor Studying and attending class are very important if you are considering a college career.
Tips for prospective students If you are planning on attending Auburn University, you will not be disappointed by your choice. This college has the best professors that anyone could ask for, however, it is the student's descision on how much effort he or she will put it in to earn grade they desire. The AU family is a close knit group of students, alumi and professors that all come together to make a wonderful atmosphere.
In three sentences Auburn University is a fabulous place to earn a degree. The students are very enthusiastic and the professors are wonderful. AU is a great choice as it offers a broad selection of courses and degrees.

Categories Comments Campus Safety As a Freshman, I had to park 20 minutes from my dorm. I returned back to campus at night. The night transit was available and I felt safe having to park so far away.
Clubs and Activities I was involved in several clubs. I made great friends and met my future roommates in them. It is fun to have a group that you can get together with and have fun.
Great for these types of students All types of students fit in at Auburn. If you are a quiet person and nonsocial person you will come out of your shell.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus Students have always rolled Toomer's Corner. It is fun to watch after a winning game.
Bang for the buck You get a high quality education. You have the ability to change the world.
What to do for fun Make friends your first year. Become involved in organizations, but don't allow them to keep you from your school work.
Food and Dining I love the food. I am a vegan and I had ample choices. You will love the variety of food on campus.
Dorm Life Dorm life is different from being home. You don't have your own personal space like at home, but you meet someone who will be a friend for life. Never loose your key card!!!
Academic Rigor The courses are hard and you have to determine that you will do your best and not be a procrastinator!!!
Tips for prospective students Don't worry if you do not know what you want to do in life, you may change your plan after your first year. I did.
In three sentences Auburn made me feel like family!!! Auburn teachers cared about me! Auburn courses led me to my desired education goal.

Categories Comments What to do for fun Whatever you want. Auburn has all sorts of groups and clubs for you to be a part.
Food and Dining Sometimes the the service can be a little bad. The hours are absolutely terrible. The quality is fine, as well as the variety.
Dorm Life I loved being in the upper quad. Everyone in the dorm was friendly towards each other and we all did a lot of fun activities together. Many of the older people in the dorm also helped me out a lot with classes.
Academic Rigor The courses are just the right amount of difficulty to scare away those who are not serious about their major, but not so difficult to keep everyone from being able to learn and pass.
Tips for prospective students Use ratemyprofessor! Some teachers are much better than others. Also, get involved in something. I can be easy to stay in your room and make no friends.
In three sentences A variety in the type go people who attend. Difficult classes, but not impossible if you study hard. Good employees who are alway willing to help.

Categories Comments Campus Safety Campus is extremely safe. There are always cops riding bikes or walking around and there are emergency towers all over campus that allow you to send an alarm to the police department should you ever feel unsafe.
Greek Life Greek life is pretty big at Auburn. There are two Frat rows and all of the Sorority houses are designated floors in the newest dorms. If you are into Frat parties, you will have no problem finding one, but because they are contained in basically one area, you can avoid them if you want to as well.
Clubs and Activities They have almost any club you could hope for, and several you have never heard of.
Great for these types of students It's a large campus, so enjoying being around people is a definite plus. However, the town is small, so it is basically only the university and surrounding areas for students. There are a lot of opportunities for help, so all types of students have the ability to thrive.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus Toomer's Corner is the big one. We roll the oak trees on the corner after major wins. Another football associated tradition is the flying of the golden eagle before every game. It is released and circles the stadium before landing on the 50 yd line 5 minutes before kick off. The Auburn Seal is located in front of Langdon Hall, and legend has it that if you ever touch it, you won't graduate or ever find true love.
Bang for the buck There is no denying it: Auburn is expensive, espeically if you are out of state. But it is nice that things like the school and night bus systems are free, they do host big name bands/artists for free, the facilities are very nice.
What to do for fun FOOTBALL. football season is a big deal and the campus will be flooded with people from all over on game day. Even if you don't want to watch the game, you don't want to miss out on tailgating. Also, there is Chewacla State Park which is a very large forest that has camping grounds, a lake to swim in, and tons of miles of walking/bike trails. The downtown area is nice because all the bars and restaurants are one two main streets. There is no need to drive because there is a night bus system that will take you back to your apartment. In addition, the university holds many free entertainment nights like movies on the field in the football stadium, concerts, stand up comedians, game nights, etc.
Food and Dining There are A LOT of options all over campus, both national chain restaurants and school specific ones. However, they are all relatively expensive (think $7-$12 for lunch) and your meal plan will go faster than you think.
Dorm Life I have never lived in a dorm at Auburn, however they are limited, difficult to get into, and much more expensive than off campus housing. Additionally, if you live on campus, you are required to have a $900/semester meal plan. Off campus meal plans are only $300/semester. All the dorms are located on the outskirts of campus. Living off campus and using the transit system will generally create a much shorter distance to campus.
Academic Rigor Academic rigor is heavily determined by what major you choose to pursue. Any engineering curriculum will be extremely time consuming and extremely stressful. Veterinary and Architecturally related concentrations are also high on the list of majors that will be stringent. General studies (Education, Philosophy, English, etc.) which are offered at almost all schools will be about average.
Tips for prospective students GO TO CLASS! Many professors take attendance, give pop quizzes, or tell you information NOT in your text that will be on tests. Make sure you go to football games, it's an experience you will never forget. Live OFF campus. The transit system is very timely and reliable, the dorms are unbelievably expensive, and there are many very good quality apartment complexes where you can have your own room/bathroom.
In three sentences Auburn has an incomparable sense of community among both students and alumni. There will always be something to do or someone to talk to. Most classes are no cake walk, but I know that I will confident in the quality of my education when I graduate

Categories Comments Campus Safety Campus safety is top notch. There are security towers all over campus where you can press the button if there is an emergency. In the evening you can call to be escorted to different places on campus. There is also a security shuttle that can take you places on and off campus.
Greek Life I personally am not involved in the Greek Life on campus, but there are many fraternities and sororities to join.
Clubs and Activities Almost any sport you can think of can be found for both guys and girls. There is also Greek Life and plenty of other clubs to join ranging from academic clubs to the atheist club.
Great for these types of students Students looking for the all around college experience and students looking for having a good time along with challenging courses.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus Saying War Eagle is a tradition that members of the Auburn Family share. It is the schools battle cry and it is accepted as a greeting between students on campus and alumni. Another great and well known tradition is rolling the oak trees at Toomer's Corner. After winning a home football game (or any sporting event to be honest) Auburn fans come and roll the oak trees. It has been a tradition for many years.
Bang for the buck It is worth coming to Auburn as an in-state student or as an international student, but I would not suggest it for an out-of-state student. If my parents were not helping me pay for my college tuition, I would not be at Auburn University.
What to do for fun Auburn University radiates with some of the best student athletes in the country and the world. This year, twenty eight Auburn students attended the 2012 London Olympic Games. Auburn is also one of the leading schools for college football and there is nothing like a SEC football game. In the small town, most students attend local parties or attend social events provided by the university.
Food and Dining There are a wide variety of places to eat on campus, but many of the places don't provide the healthiest meals. That being said, it is still possible to eat healthy on campus; however, your choices are limited.
Dorm Life I only lived in the dorms one year and I had a blast. I did manage to make it into the newer dorms so everyone has a different experience. The same goes for your roomate(s). I am still good friends with my roomates and many of the people who lived in my building.
Academic Rigor The challenge of the course depends on the professor, but most of the professors at Auburn can be challenging. As a sciences student, I can relate to how difficult course material is in the College of Mathematics and Sciences. Constant studying is needed to pass classes.
Tips for prospective students Study from the very beginning of the semester and don't stop until you have taken the final exam. Ask any question to anything you don't understand. Attend the social events; there are many ways to meet new people.
In three sentences Auburn University is a school with a great atmosphere, challenging courses, and a great place to earn a college degree. There are many different academic paths to choose from, and students form bonds that will last a lifetime. If there is any university that provides the full college experience, along with academic rigor, it is Auburn University.

Categories Comments Campus Safety There are city level police on campus as well as campus police on bikes. There are also night time transits for anyone out late who doesn't feel safe walking by themselves(free). and there are SOS stations all over campus.
Greek Life Here at Auburn there is every Frat and sorority possible. I didn't know much about them before getting here, but they have parties every weekend somewhere, and you see them repping their house everywhere.
Clubs and Activities There is club sports for just about anything; volleyball basketball football softball, maybe tennis and golf. And there are activities going on all year. the first two weeks there was 3-4 activities for all kinds of people each day.
Great for these types of students Any type of student. As long as you can stay focused, and don't mind the walk across campus.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus We have Toomer's corner. You can look up the history of it, but after every win for the football teams, all the fans come out and TP the corners trees. That's the one I'm aware of.
Bang for the buck I don't know what that means. But there is a tiger transit system, one of few anywhere that drive all over campus and all over Auburn's City(free) every weekday till about 8.
What to do for fun For fun there is the student activity center, which there is a new one being built that is suppose to be done Spring 2013, containing elevated track, multiple courts, pools, and much more.
Food and Dining The food and dinning is great. We have chick-fil-a and Papa John's in our student center. As well as panda express and Denny's also on campus. There are also cafeterias all over campus, and each Housing area has their own dinning hall. Right outside of campus is anything that you could want from Asian food toMexican food, and fast food. The only thing that keeps it from being 5 stars is the hours, they don't stay open too late, and most places are closed on weekends except dinning halls, and the student center options.
Dorm Life I live in the Hill, which is the lowest of the 3 on-campus housing areas Auburn has. It comes with a bathroom for 4 people, and its kinda small. The room has two people and its a decent amount of space. Weekends get kinda loud with people coming in and out at all hours. The walls aren't that soundproof, so you know when people from your hall come in.
Academic Rigor I am three weeks into the year and I've had 3 or 4 quizzes, and i have 2 exams and an essay due this week. This is college, the work will be picking up, i think it will be around a 4 at Auburn.
Tips for prospective students Go to Camp war eagle. Its a good place to meet friends and get used to campus. Make plenty of room for studying, because even if it seems easy, you will need those study hours later. Have fun and do school, don't stay in the books all day everyday, go out meet people and have fun.
In three sentences Its a good university, with everthing you might need within a few miles. The website is easy to manage and has everything about the campus on it. The Teachers here are mostly all friendly and have office hours to help students.

Categories Comments Campus Safety Very goo. Emergency call booths and police protection on and around campus.
Greek Life Auburn is approximately 23-25% Greek; If you want to be Greek , great. If not, there's plenty of friends around who are not Greek.
Clubs and Activities Student Government Association
Great for these types of students Academic, loves people, enjoys traditions and football.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus Tiger Walk just before Football games - a home tradition. Also, a soaring eagle flies through the stadium just before kick off. It's amazing. Lastly, rolling Toomer's Corner with toilet paper after a home town win has always been a big deal.
Bang for the buck Everyone is very friendly, accepting, and helpful.
What to do for fun Football! Social events, eating out, green space get-together's, running, biking, etc. This is a very welcoming campus for activities.
Food and Dining There are a fair amount of eating options. We are mandated to buy a meal plan while living on campus. This is not too bad considering we don't have cooking facilities in the dorm. Fortunately, there are plenty of dining places and grocery stores around campus that we have adequate access to on a daily basis.
Dorm Life I am enjoying dorm life, especially because I know my roommate. We have gotten to know many of the people down the hall and enjoy being close to the center of campus. As a down side, I don't like the dingy, dark laundry facilities in the basement.
Academic Rigor The academic rigor has been acceptable. I am in the pre-nursing program with a minor in Spanish. Taking a full time load is challenging but manageable.
Tips for prospective students Plan, plan, plan. Get on parking, campus housing, and scheduling lists early. get to know your faculty quickly after beginning classes. And above all, GO TO CLASS!
In three sentences Auburn University has been a truly wonderful experience thus far. The friendly atmosphere, the welcoming environment, and beautiful campus have added to my experience. I am taking challenging, yet rewarding classes, as a fall freshman at this dynamic campus.

Categories Comments Campus Safety Emergency poles everywhere. Very lighted campus. There are safety shuttles that bus you around in the middle of the night if needed.
Greek Life Greek Life seems very popular at Auburn, however less than half the school is Greek. Greek is great, and not being Greek is great also.
Clubs and Activities SO many, I don't even know half of them. There are things from club sports to theater to republican party or even cooking club.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus Toomer's Trees - roll the trees. The Auburn Seal. The eagle flying at the games. The Auburn Family. Samford Hall is the prettiest building I have ever seen. There are many more tradtions!
Bang for the buck I love everything about Auburn in every aspect.
What to do for fun I personally love intramural soccer. There are tons of intramural sports you can play. I love Habitat for Humanity also. There are so may organizations to get involved with. I can't forget you get to go to football games which is totally amazing.
Food and Dining There are all types of food to choose from on campus. There is Mexican, chinese, salads, Chick-fil-a, Denny's, and many more.
Dorm Life I lived in a dorm freshman year and had a great experience. I think it is something everyone should experience. You get to know your roommate as well as a family member because you are practically sharing a bedroom with them for about 8 months of your life.
Tips for prospective students Visit Auburn and take a campus tour. If you get that weird feeling inside of you when you are here, you belong in the family. Auburn is hard, but that is just college. Auburn has lots of opportunities for everyone, so there is a place for you here whether you want to go Greek or not.

Categories Comments What to do for fun Make friends. Visit any of the popular downtown clubs. Pet a baby tiger.
Food and Dining Auburn University has a unique dining model that leaves all the choices up to you. This teaches students to actually budget, while providing the great foods we already know and love (Chick-fil-a, Papa Johns, & Starbucks in the Student Center). Healthy choices are available, but not as requirements. The only reason I only give three stars is because of the early closing hours that aren't on-campus living friendly, especially on Friday nights.
Dorm Life Even though my first semester on campus was the worst you can get (a bi-polar roommate with a bad attitude who tried to kick me out for crying too loud once), my experience on campus has been great. My dorm lobby is a safe haven, a place where fun events are happening, and a great place to meet new people like no other.
Academic Rigor Auburn is great because of it's versatility. You can get a state-of-the-art, interesting and active education here, or you can just squeeze by. It's your choice.
Tips for prospective students 1. Don't be afraid to explore different classes, anything that interests you. And if you find something you love, it's easy to change your major! 2. When deciding what classes to take, check out ratemyprofessors.com. Any class can be great with a good professor, or terrible with a professor you don't mesh with. 3. Live on campus. I know it sounds uncool, but the community and opportunities you get staying on campus are more than worth it.
In three sentences Auburn has the small town friendly atmosphere combined with large-scale university opportunities. It's versatile, has great professors, and the most helpful library staff you'll ever have the pleasure of asking a question.

Categories Comments Great for these types of students If you're like me, you'll love Auburn. A majority of the things you do on campus will be independent. No one will be riding your back, forcing you to meet your deadlines. You're on your own. However, you'll always have at least two people there for motivation when you need it.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus If you like strong lemonade, go to Toomer's Corner. I don't necessarily like lemonade but it's fun to take part in the tradition just to say you've done it before.
Bang for the buck If you do well on your ACT, you'll be rewarded. It's fairly simple to get all your fees paid for. For example, I qualify to receive full tuition. And with websites like Cappex, I'll be able to find enough money to cover housing and books. STUDY, though. If you lose your GPA, you lose your scholarship.
Food and Dining Chick-Fil-A is great. It's my favorite place to get a chicken sandwich. There are a few other places to grab a bite, too, such as the oriental deal. But the cafeteria food will eventually get old, when you have the same thing to eat every day. I'm not too sure there are a lot of locations off-campus, either.
Dorm Life Dorms are student friendly and well-maintained. There's plenty of space to keep everything you need. However, dorm space is limited and off-campus apartments aren't guaranteed the same quality. Parking is also difficult.
In three sentences I've been on several college campus tours, but the one I found to be most hospitable and appropriate for my career goals was Auburn. The people are friendly, the classes are challenging, and the atmosphere is like home. I can't wait to start my freshman year at AU!

Categories Comments Campus Safety There are emergency stands all around campus that can be used to contact help.
Greek Life I am not in a sorority but my roommate is and she is absolutely in love with it.
Clubs and Activities There are over 300 organizations you can join on campus.
Great for these types of students Social, friendly, outgoing students who want a bright future.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus We fly an eagle around our field before every football game while yelling our battle cry which is War Eagle! The band then does its pregame show which sends the stadium abuzz with excitement. There is a certain seal that you can never walk on next to Samford Hall. You will not graduate if you do. Also, Toomer's Corner gets rolled after every winning game and also sells the best lemonade ever!
Bang for the buck You get everything and more. You just have to make the effort to go out and get it.
What to do for fun I'm in the band so that is my fun!
Food and Dining There is a nice variety, but it depends on where you are most of the time.
Dorm Life Some of the dorms are old, but you are not required to be in one. Feel free to check out apartments too!
Academic Rigor This college is a top college with wonderful programs for educating its students. It is the best in the Southeast.
Tips for prospective students It's a big college in a small city and parking is awful, but it is worth it. I would research into the college. Find out the restaurants, dorms, etc. Know your path.
In three sentences Auburn is a family college. It is classy and kind. Nothing brings the AU spirit down.

Categories Comments Campus Safety With 26,000+ students and plenty of visitors on top of that surely there has to be at least one sketchy person roaming around campus right? Wouldn't that make you a little uneasy every now and then? I know it made me uneasy. However one thing I can say was that I was surprised to find was how safe I felt on-campus. Tons of your classmates are walking with you every second of the day, and then security rolls in deep to guard the students at night. Auburn even has security shuttles, which run from 6pm to 6am to assure that you arrive safely at your destination. Although it is always best to walk with a buddy especially at night, if you happen to catch yourself walking alone at night, do not fret because the chances of anything happening are slim to none. All campuses have their problems, but you can take comfort in knowing that Auburn works extremely hard to provide the safest atmosphere and campus for its students.
Greek Life Greek life is pretty happening here at Auburn. While I myself have not participated in Greek life yet, I do plan to pledge sometime next year. And from what I've seen and heard, if you want to meet new people, make new friends, and just have fun going Greek is definitely a way to go!
Clubs and Activities I cannot even begin to sit here and list all the clubs, activities, and organization Auburn has to offer. Literally if I started typing at this very moment, it would take a couple of hours to make sure that I mentioned it all! The best thing for you to do is to find activities interest you then go out and find clubs that match those interest. From academics to athletics to even the rare interests such as underwater basket weaving, whatever you like to do you can bank on Auburn having a club fit just for you!
Great for these types of students I really can't justify this other than by saying that you should really take the time to learn about you. Find out what kind of person you are, what you like to do, and then expand upon those interest. I am an engineering student, so there are quite a few programs out there dedicate to my success in becoming an engineer (such as NSBE, AICHE, Alabama Power Academic Excellence Program, and SWE). Like I said it all depends on you, what you like as a person, and what you think will best benefit your life.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus The greatest tradition most people have heard about Auburn is the rolling of Toomer's Corner. Yes indeed this is very true. Unfortunately though due to the nice gentleman who decided it was time for the trees to be no more (sarcasm of course), the trees have been closed off as they are expected to die by the end of this year (2012-2013). But you better believe that won't get us down nor is that our only tradition. If you go to football games (can you tell I love football?) you'll witness a few traditions there as well, most notably the eagle circling the stadium and landing midfield for a big WAR EAGLE from the crowd! Overall tons of fun to be had, and it's all right here at Auburn University!
Bang for the buck It is no secret that college is expensive, and Auburn is no different. Take advantage of all the freebies that go on around campus. Also don't feel as if you have to buy everything you see, especially when it comes to your books. Always see if the instructor requires that book for class because if they don't then you don't have to buy that book. And that means more money that gets to stay in your pocket. If you have to purchase books, try buying used books or even renting them, because they're cheaper, have the exact same material you'll need to learn, and won't cost you an arm and a leg. Also try to take advantage of some of the deals you here floating around campus. While it may seem useless at that moment, in the long run it might end up saving you money!
What to do for fun Football games. Football games. Football games. Seriously they have to be one of the funnest things you'll do here at Auburn. All that high energy jam packed into one stadium, it's almost unbearable (but in a good way of course)! However if you are not into sports (or at least not football) there are definitely many other sports and tons more fun activities to do. Auburn supports over 300 different clubs and organizations so surely you will find something that grabs your interest from that lengthy selection. No matter what you choose, as I said before, the best way to have fun is to get involved. Whether it is sports, academics, or even underwater basket-weaving, you're ten times more apt to have fun being with 26,000+ (85,000+ during football games) of your closest friends!
Food and Dining Overall the dining at Auburn is pretty satisfactory. The only thing I would note is that depending on where you stay (i.e. the Quad, Hill, or Village (or soon South Donahue)) the places to get food are sometimes pretty select. Not saying the food is terrible by far; it's actually in fact quite the opposite. I am saying however that depending on what you're in the mood for, expect to be making a lengthy walk to get food. Location is key would be the main thing I'd tell you. But on the upside, at least with all the walking/bike riding you have plenty of chances to stay fit!
Dorm Life I will say that the dorms can get pretty crazy and hyped at times, especially during football season. So if you love high spirits and loads of energy this is for you. Aside from that however on-campus housing is pretty cool and relaxed. The RA's are really nice and really make an effort into making your Auburn living experience all the more awesome. The people at Auburn are also really nice so you don't have to worry too much about room/suite mates. I would definitely recommend staying on-campus for incoming freshman. It really helps to improve your overall Auburn experience all the more!
Academic Rigor Guys, I couldn't be more serious when I say this: study, study, STUDY! This is not high school were you can look at something 20 minutes before your test and expect to pass. Granted there will be a few classes like that, but the majority of classes (especially those higher up in your major) really require hard work. Not saying anything to scare or discourage, just saying that if you really want the best outcome and to be successful expect to put quite a bit of work into what you're doing. But always give 110% because it will be so worth it in the end (when you get to walk across that stage)!
Tips for prospective students The number one tip I would give is to never procrastinate! I will come to haunt you ten fold! Second I would say get to know your professors. While it may seem like brown nosing at the time, in the end it will be worth it. It might even be the difference between that 89 and that 90. Also I would say to get involved. Don't be that guy who sits by him/herself and doesn't know anybody. Actually try to get involved and get to know people! You'll be here for the next four or so years so might as well make it count!
In three sentences Auburn is simply amazing! I knew from an early age that I would one day want to go to college here. Here you truly are one All In family; and don't expect to go anywhere (on-campus or not) without hearing a big War Eagle!

Categories Comments Campus Safety There are panic buttons at every corner that call 911. At night all of campus is well lit. There is a security shuttle to take you to and from campus at night. I've never felt at all threatened on campus.
Clubs and Activities Auburn has some very prestigious engineering clubs such as AubieSat which builds a sattelite that actually gets sent into space. There is also the moon buggy, formula racecar, and concrete canoe teams.
Great for these types of students Engineering, Agriculture, Graphic Design, Veterinary.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus It is said that if you walk across the seal of Auburn you won't graduate in four years. It is also said that if you kiss your girlfriend under the lathe at midnight and it doesn't move you're meant to be together.
Bang for the buck The dining dollars system seems like a huge scam to me. Tuition is expensive and if you're unlucky you can get a really horrible teacher.
What to do for fun The University Program Council holds concerts and social events such as a Halloween party, weekly movie showings, and free food on the green space. Tailgating and football!
Food and Dining Auburn has a mandatory dining dollars program where every student must put a certain amount of money into an account that you can only use on campus. Students living off campus have to pay $300 a semester and students living on campus have to pay $1000 a semester. This system makes it so that there is actually a good variety of places to eat, but it's really just an inconvenience if you live off campus and are not around during lunch or dinner time. If you don't use all of your dining dollars after spring semester, they are taken from you.
Dorm Life I live off campus but I don't hear any complaints. The new dorms are much much better than the old ones but are farther away from central campus.
Academic Rigor Classes such as Chemistry and Physics are meant to make you want to die. Math classes are challenging but well-taught. As an engineering student I can't say much about other classes, but the basic History, Literature, etc. are easy enough.
Tips for prospective students If you're from the north be prepared for hot temperatures. If living off-campus find housing close to a bus stop.
In three sentences As with every school, Auburn has its ups and downs. Auburn has a beautiful campus and many (MANY) newly constructed/renovated buildings. In my experience the teachers have been touch and go; in the engineering department they are strong believers in weed out classes.

Categories Comments Clubs and Activities Auburn University has over 300 organizations. If you want to join a club, they probably already have one. If they do not have what you are looking for, it should not be too hard to start one of your own.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus We roll the Toomer's Corner oak trees, of course, after we win football games. Unfortunately, we haven't done much of that this year.
What to do for fun Skybar allows underaged students to come listen to the bands and such, they just can't drink, obviously. There are movie theaters and shopping centers around, especially in TigerTown, Opelika. Chewacla, the local state park, has good hiking trails, a beautiful waterfall, and good trees for hammocking.
Food and Dining The meal plan forces you to pay $995 if you live on campus ($300 if you don't). That money is put on your student ID card, which you use like a debit card at any eating spot on campus. You can get restaurant food, like Chick-fil-a and Au Bon Pain, or you can get pre-packaged food at the convenience stores, as well as staples like bread and milk.
Dorm Life The Hill is the oldest living area on campus. It can get pretty dusty and moldy if you don't clean pretty regularly. Also, there's a peculiar smell, but you get used to it. The Quad has smaller rooms, but is more centrally located. Some people tell me they get up 5 minutes before class and can still make it because they are so close. The Village is not as close as the Quad, but it is apartment style housing, and has a great dining hall.
Academic Rigor As with most universities, you have the option to do well or to let your grades go. I cruised in the middle of this semester so I'm paying for it right now trying to get my grades back to A's. If I had payed attention back then, I wouldn't be worrying about them now.
Tips for prospective students Come and visit! You can hear everything there is to say about the Auburn family but you will not be able to experience it until you come and see it in action!
In three sentences The community here is very strong and you get support from alumni and current students wherever you meet them. The campus is large, which helps keep the Freshman 15 away, and it is well located within the city of Auburn, which makes shopping and eating off campus much easier. It is also easy to get to Montgomery or Atlanta if you need to.

Categories Comments Campus Safety I fell extremely safe on campus. There are safety stations all around campus and i see police officers patrolling all the time.
Great for these types of students Student that can balance a school work life with a social life. If you don't think you can balance I would not recommend it four you.
Bang for the buck Auburn University is a great school, but it also cost a pretty penny. I will be prouod to say i graduated from Auburn but i will not enjoy paying off my loans.
What to do for fun I am not really into the party scene which is pretty popular but other than that there is not a whole lot to do. I have not been at Auburn long so i am not an expert.
Food and Dining It is pretty average. Some places on campus are great like Panda Express or Chick-fillet, but there are some places that are over priced and not worth the money.
Dorm Life I don't live in a dorm, i live in an apartment off campus, which I would really recommend. Everyone i know that lives in a dorm dose not like it.
Academic Rigor This is probably because i am a Mechanical Engineering major. It really depends on your major, so pick wisely.
Tips for prospective students Really try and get the best rated professors. I didn't look any of that stuff up my first semester and i really regret it because i got some bad teachers.
In three sentences Honestly, the campus is great and the people are not bad either. It is a little overwhelming the amount of people at Auburn though. Plus, collage life is a bit of a shock when you have so many people and pretty large classes.

Categories Comments Campus Safety I can walk around at night and feel completely safe. Being a female, this is so important. They also have emergency posts throughout campus that have buttons that call the police to your location if you need help.
Greek Life I'm not in Greek life. Freshman Greeks are pretty annoying. Don't act like a freshman, and you won't be treated like a freshman. Other people involved in Greek life are pretty great, though. Most everyone's friendly, but you're always going to run into snobs.
Clubs and Activities Great clubs, but a lot of them require interviews. ?
Great for these types of students EVERYONE. But seriously, Auburn is so big that anyone can find a place to belong. Unless you're severely anit-social. Then you may have problems.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus Rolling the trees on Toomer's Corner is definitely fun, but the trees are dying (crazy bama fans) so we won't have that for much longer. I think they're planning on doing something special to replace our trees. DON'T STEP ON THE SEAL or else you won't graduate in four years and you also won't find yourself an Auburn mate. The only way to break the curse is to drink from this nasty pond water thing or bathe in the President Gogue's fountain. Ew. We also have a stray cat at Helen Keller Hall that's missing an eye.
Bang for the buck I'm an out-of-state student. I believe in Auburn and love it, but it's pricey. Looking back, had I not been dreaming of going to Auburn, I wouldn't have chosen it simply because it's wayyy too expensive.
What to do for fun FOOTBALL, in which we're not currently doing well, but next year will be better. I don't really party, but there's a lot of that. Intramurals are a great way to have fun and stay fit. Auburn Christian Fellowship frequently hosts activities.
Food and Dining We have a great selection of food! There's a Chick-fil-A(awesome!!!), a Panda Express, a Salsaritas, Chicken Grill Greek, like 4 sandwich shops, Papa John's, Southern Grill(chicken, catfish, bbq), and salad/pasta bars. Don't forget Starbucks and Caribou Coffee!
Dorm Life I lived in the honors dorms on the Upper Quad. The A/C and heat situation was miserable. Parking was a 20 minute walk from my hall. The only reason I stayed on campus was to get the experience, and it was just about everything I expected.
Academic Rigor Classes are definitely tough, but they're not impossible. The teachers here are willing to help you out when you have questions.
Tips for prospective students Definitely take a tour! Go grab some lunch at the dining hall in Foy, and just get a feel for Auburn and it's students. Auburn feels like home! You should also definitely stay away from honors courses in science unless you absolutely rock at science. They're tough. Take Art of Architecture for your Fine Arts requirement; it's fun and easy!
In three sentences Auburn's campus is simply beautiful! The courses are challenging, but the teachers are reasonable and just great. Parking sucks.

Tips for prospective students Study hard, be outgoing, get involved and War Eagle!

Categories Comments Campus Safety Very safe, there has never been a moment where I felt unsafe on campus.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus The tigerwalk is a fun thing to do before the game. You gather around the street and have a pep rally with other fans and the marching band and cheer on the team and coach as they enter the stadium. After the game if we have a win we tp the big oak trees. It is definitely a must!
What to do for fun Any sporting event is a blast but you also see people playing ultimate frisbee and disc golf. There are also numerous events such as a battle of the bands and showings done by the UPC. There are also numerous speakers that will come and talk, last semester Bill Nye the science guy came and gave a lecture.
Food and Dining Large variety and good. Even though I live off-campus this year I always enjoy coming on campus to eat.
Dorm Life Very good. Right on campus and close to everything. Are clean and the RAs are always willing to help you no matter what the trouble.
Academic Rigor While many of the classes are very challenging compared to high school they are interesting and are worth the extra effort.
Tips for prospective students Take AP classes, even if you don't take the exam it will definitely prepare you for the material and style of teaching. Get involved it is the quickest and most fun to make friends. Go to class, they always emphasize this but it really is important

Categories Comments Campus Safety Auburn's campus feels completely safe at all hours of the night and day. It is well-lit, has campus security, and warning posts all around. There is a very low crime rate in the city and the atmosphere of the small town doesn't attract very many negative influences.
Greek Life I am not affiliated with Greek Life, but there is a definite presence on campus with over 1/4 of the students participating. Many of the participants in Greek Life also volunteer and participate in campus clubs and organizations.
Clubs and Activities It is so easy to create a new club and activity, sponsored by Auburn's SGA on campus. Once you have 10 signatures and agree to abide by the SGA's terms and conditions- you have the freedom to express and enjoy yourself. I have been in quite a few from Sustainability practices, to Diversity Ambassadors for the office of Multicultural Affairs There are affiliations with religion, activities, interests, and academic studies. The possibilities are literally endless and there are multiple offices on campus that aim to pair you with a passion for extracurricular activities at Auburn.
Great for these types of students Auburn is great for all types of students. I personally believe the ones that thrive the most are the self motivated and social thinkers. There is plenty of room for growth on and off campus. It is so easy to start or join a new organization and create new policies and practices to express your leadership style. If you are more of a follower, the opportunities are also there to find a preexisting cause you are passionate about to join.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus Auburn has some of the riches traditions in the SEC and the nation. Although rolling Toomer's Oaks may be dwindling after the 2010 poisoning, Hey Day, Tiger Walk, the eagle flying before games, the fight song everyday at noon, Aubie winning mascot competitions, and a history of academic excellence makes Auburn one of the riches places for traditions around
Bang for the buck I personally struggle to meet the continually rising tuition prices. It costs the same amount for a full time student of 12 hours as it does for 18 hours. You are fully prepared to do your job when you leave, but for the last 4 years I have seen prices rise, and challenges rise too. You get an amazing experience and education, however I feel the prices aren't completely fair at over $5,000 a semester for in state tuition.
What to do for fun Between the hundreds of SGA affiliated clubs, someone would never get bored. There are always campus movies, events, great concerts, tailgates, lessons, etc. going on. Outside of campus there is a small bar scene, but everyone is so friendly, people make friends and go to house parties too.
Food and Dining I love Auburn's food and dining. Although it can be a bit pricey- the options and hours are absolutely perfect. There are always places to go and delicious options to chose from. There is a Chic-fil-a, Papa Johns, Salsarita's, Denny's, cafeteria style, sub sandwiches, and home cooked meals, too.
Dorm Life I have never lived in the dorms, but I hear there is plenty of room for improvement. We have newer dorms, that most people rave about- as well as older dorms most people complain about. Just the typical roommate problems, and strict rules about parties.
Academic Rigor Auburn does not give away A's like a lot of other college's stereotypes. We have been consistently ranked as one of the most difficult places to make an A by national student reviews and comparisons. There are easier classes, but definitely challenges that test you inside, and outside of the class room with real experiences.
Tips for prospective students Do not feel the need to blindly jump into a major just because it will make you money. Work with the resources on campus to find something that makes you HAPPY, not RICH. The career development services, academic advisers, and online resources aim to prepare students with a degree they are passionate about.
In three sentences Auburn has the potential to fulfill any student's academic goals to pursue their passions and interests and start their career. The variety of majors and the ability to create your own with Interdisciplinary Studies (my major) gives Auburn the ability to treat each student's plan of study as an individual. The campus provides the most beautiful family atmosphere that creates lifelong ties and active alumni that continue to pass on the traditions of the greatest town on the Plains.

Great for these types of students Auburn is great for all types of students! If you like small classes, but a big campus, family and familiar feeling, SEC football, or whatever you love I'm sure you'll find it at Auburn!

Bang for the buck I absolutely love Auburn and I would not want to be anywhere else!
What to do for fun If you like shopping there is a mall and a shopping center, called Tiger Town. There is a bowling alley and a movie theater, as well as plenty of restaurants and frozen yogurt places downtown to hang out! During football season tailgating all Saturday and going to the games are a must!
Food and Dining We have great food and no cafeteria. The dining options on campus are restaurant style, including Chic-fil-a, Starbucks, Papa John's, Au Bon Pain, Nathan's, and many more! There are also food trucks are around campus that sell awesome food!
Dorm Life I love living on campus and have so many friends in my dorm! The dorms are nice and kept clean and there are no community bathrooms! If you want to live on campus which I DEFINITELY recommend if you are a freshman, apply ASAP!
Academic Rigor Classes can be difficult, but if they get too overwhelming there are so many resources, such as study partners, tutoring, Supplementing Instruction sessions, and many more that can help you with your difficult courses. Don't be shy! If you need it, they are very helpful!
Tips for prospective students Don't be nervous about not meeting people or having huge classes or not having enough time to get to class or any other typically scary aspect of college! Yes classes are tough and some of the general science classes are big, but there are so many resources on campus to help you that you will have not problem adjusting! If you want to live on campus apply for housing ASAP!
In three sentences When they say Auburn isn't just a school, it's a family, they aren't lying! Auburn is an amazing school and family and I can't imagine being anywhere else! I love Auburn and it's small classes, friendly community, and die-hard fans! Everyone at Auburn loves Auburn and there's not doubt you will too!

Categories Comments Campus Safety Security is always walking around campus and every few feet are emergency poles where you can hit a button and it will call the Auburn Police Department and thye will come to where you are.
Greek Life There are a lot of greek organizations to choose from. There is NPC, IFC, and NPHC
Clubs and Activities There are a lot of clubs on campus for you to get involved in and each major has at least 1 club that is centered around it. Every fall there is an O-Day where all the campus' organizations set up tables on the main walkway and you can go and learn abput different clubs and join what you want.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus Before every home football game there is a Tiger Walk where the football players and coaches walk through and shake hands with the fans. Also after every football game win fans go to Toomer's Corner and roll the trees with toilet paper. Also on campus there is a Hey Day where everybody wears a name-tag and everyone says Hey to everyone on campus, it is a great way to meet new people.
What to do for fun There is always something to do especially when you have a good group of friends. There is usually always a party thrown by the different fraternities on campus, and the movies is not that far away but you will need a car to get there.
Food and Dining There is always food on campus and it is good too. If you don't want to eat on campus there are places around campus that are within walking distance and are good as well.
Dorm Life Dorm Life is what you make it. I would recommend rooming with people you know instead of doing random roommates. Also get to know your RAs and suite-mates, it will make things a lot more fun.
Academic Rigor Auburn is a hard school but as long as you do your work and have good study habits then you should be fine. Also help is available everywhere so take advantage of it!
Tips for prospective students I would say continue to do well in school and try to get a good ACT score. Also before you make a choice on any college make sure you visit and see what school is the best fit for you. Auburn was not my first choice as a school but I fell in love with it when I went for a campus tour.
In three sentences I love Auburn University. The people here have made me feel at home and my fellow Auburn students have become my family. Even though I am only a freshman the people I have become friends with are going to be life-long friends.

Categories Comments Campus Safety The Security Shuttle will pick you up from 6pm to 6am anywhere on campus and take you anywhere on campus. There are blue police-calling buttons all over campus. I've never once felt threatened
Greek Life You can be as involved or not involved in Greek life as you want. Enough people are Greek, so that it's easy to get plugged in, but you don't stand out if you aren't Greek. A lot more girls go Greek than boys.
Clubs and Activities Greek life is great; it's easy to be Greek, but it's also not a majority, so there is plenty to do without pledging. If you want to create a new club, you can get 9 friends together and do it!
Great for these types of students Southern to the core. Friendly and looking for fun Academic and studious
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus We roll Toomer's Corner for all football wins and big wins of other sports. The seal on the ground of Samford is sacred and everyone avoids stepping on it. Samford lawn is beautiful and perfect for formal pictures or proposals The eagle flying before every football game is beautiful and majestic. We say War Eagle as every greeting or congratulation.
Bang for the buck Auburn is an amazing school, both socially and academically. Completely worth every penny
What to do for fun There are clubs, Greek organizations, house parties, frat parties, bars, free movie nights, or just fun nights hanging out with friends. It's hard to get bored in Auburn
Food and Dining Literally every type of food you could imagine is available. From popular vendors like Chick-fil-a to build your own salad bar. There are many healthy options, as well.
Dorm Life The village is very nice and so much fun. We are always having friends come visit, but can always get away to our own bedrooms if we need to study or sleep
Academic Rigor Auburn is one of the few collages that doesn't inflate grades, but as a result, you know your A has really been earned.
Tips for prospective students Apply for on campus housing as soon as possible. Check out your options with AP credits, dual enrollment classes and ACT subscores. Apply for all scholarships early
In three sentences Auburn truly is a family; the student body and faculty have a close connection to one another, even if they've never officially met. We are a true Southern Hospitality campus. A degree from Auburn looks great when applying for professional school or jobs.

Dorm Life I personally chose to live off-campus but I have friends who are in the dorms and they all seem rather pleased with them.
Academic Rigor Auburn is certainly not a place to go if you want easy As. Auburn students and teachers take learning seriously here and the professors make you work for your grades.

Categories Comments Campus Safety Like all campuses Auburn has some dark spots on it's safety history, but they have numerous options to keep students safe. There are tower pillars that immediately connect you with the police, security staff that patrol the campus at night, a night shuttle bus that will take you from a spot on campus to you car, and a night transit line that can take you home. Also the University has partnered with the City of Auburn to work on decreasing the number of drunk driver's on the road.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus After any home sporting event win, the Auburn population gathers on Toomer's Corner to roll the oaks. Sadly the oaks are dying and will have one more roll this year before being replaced. BUT the University has said that the rolling tradition will continue - so come check it out! It's always a fun tradition!
What to do for fun There is Toomer's Corner for lemonade and ice cream, plus all the shopping and bars. Auburn has numerous good restaurants like Hamilton's and the Amsterdam Cafe. Close by in Tiger Town there are several famous restaurant chains (Olive Garden, Logan's Roadhouse, etc) and downtown Opelika is my favorite place with the Irish Bred Pub, Ma Fia's, and the incredible Overall Co. with gourmet dessert popsicles and coffee.
Food and Dining Three stars because while the food is good and tasty, Auburn does not have a traditional dining hall with buffets. Generally Auburn has opted for a food court style where a certain Hall will have 3-4 different dining options, but they're all like mini restaurants (ex. Chick-fil-A, Panda Express, ABP, Papa John's). Even Auburn's original restaurants are styled like a food court. Also the amount of healthy options/portions available are few. But they are there
Dorm Life Auburn's dorms are suite style - two people share a room and four people share a bathroom. The Village residences are arranged differently and the new Donahue dorms will have different arrangements as well. Dorm life is what you make of it. I had friend's in my dorm who are still living there, but it wasn't the best for me. Residence Managers are very good at trying to create a sense of community in the halls, but it depends on how much effort you put into your experience that makes it good or great. I enjoyed my time in the dorms, but was still glad to leave.
Academic Rigor I am a good student and there are plenty of classes that I would call easy at Auburn that other's would find difficult. The same goes the other way - that there are courses that are difficult for me that are easy for others. Mostly the professors are very fair in the way they grade. Also certain majors at Auburn are more difficult than others (Architecture, Engineering, Nursing, etc) and generally courses that are higher levels are more difficult.
Tips for prospective students 1. Don't be afraid to talk to older students. We've been around campus longer and we've got lots of advice for younger students. We're always prepared for directions to classes, and we tend to give out advice on which professors to take, who to avoid, etc. 2. Use your friends to plan out your schedule for the next semesters. You've only got so many semesters in college that friends in your major can help you avoid making mistakes they made. 3. Don't worry if you don't know EXACTLY what you want to major in. I changed my major one time once in Auburn and I know people who have changed their major three times! It's okay to not know exactly what you want to study - college is the perfect place to do that
In three sentences Auburn University is an amazing school. The campus, it's students and it's faculty have such a warm and inviting atmosphere that even if you're from far away, you'll feel right at home. It's my current home away from home and I'm proud to be an Auburn Tiger - War Eagle.

Categories Comments What to do for fun Auburn has excellent greek life, but there are still thousands of things to do outside of greek, unlike many SEC schools. There are constantly held student run activities, more clubs than you could ever hope for, and thousands of opportunities for student involvment, not to mention top tier shopping at the nearby tiger town mall.
Dorm Life The hill is a little old, but the Village is incredible, and the quad is up to date with excellent proximity to classes. New dorms currently under way. (should be completed by fall 2013)
Academic Rigor Like all things in life, you will get out of it, what you put into it.
Tips for prospective students First and foremost, join a learning community. I cannot stress enough the positive impact it has had so far in my academics. You are all enrolled in the same classes so you immediately have a group in which you can study with, and support eachother. coincidentally, some of the people in my learning community are now my best friends.
In three sentences Auburn has become, without doubt, a second home for me. The students are friendly, the faculty care, and everyone around has a genuine interest in wanting you to succeed. Auburn's cliche' is all in with the family, but Auburn so far has treated me as nothing less than family.

Categories Comments Campus Safety Auburn's campus is top notch when it comes to safety. They have police call boxes all over campus. They also offer security shuttles at night and also an on campus police station.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus Don't step on the Auburn Seal. Rumor has it, if you do, you will not graduate or meet your true love at Auburn unless you wait until midnight on a leap day and take a quick dive in the fountain outside the presidents mansion. There is also the rolling of Toomer's Corner after any Auburn sporting event win (ESPECIALLY football). Make sure you have a picture in front of the Samford lawn, Auburn University sign. It is a popular spot for pictures for any occasion.
Bang for the buck I came to Auburn intending to leave after I graduated, but I have completely fallen in love with this place. I want to raise my family here and plant roots as deep as the Toomer's Oaks.
What to do for fun Take a stroll in downtown Auburn and visit the many quaint shops. Don't forget to stop at Toomer's Corner and get a glass of lemonade. Go hiking and swimming out at Chewacla State Park. It is Auburn's hidden treasure. I didn't know about it until my junior year of college and have fallen in love with the beauty of nature there. Grab some friends and play some ultimate frisbee at the IM fields. Go watch a sporting event or attend a UPC sponsored activity. There is always something going on.
Food and Dining We have lots of variety at Auburn. If you want it, we probably have it. BBQ, Chicken, Chinese food, Greek Food.
Dorm Life I can't really say much in this area. I only stayed in the dorms for Camp War Eagle. If you are going to live on campus, try to get one of the newer dorms. If you can't get a newer one, your best bet would be to live off campus.
Academic Rigor It's not high school. Studying is huge. It's not just memorization, but actually being able to understand the concepts. It's work, hard work, but that's what true Auburn men and women believe it.
Tips for prospective students Do something that will matter in a 100 years when you get to college. You will never have another opportunity like this ever again. You have more opportunity to impact change in your community and in your world in these 4 short years. They may seem like they drag on, but once you are in that last year, you will realize just how short they really were. Be a better person than you were in high school. Realize that being cool is only temporary, but how you treat others will be remembered forever. Understand that you were made to change the world, your education is just a stop to help prepare you for it. Learn all you can, while you can.
In three sentences Auburn provided me with not just an education, but a home. Family isn't just a slogan here, we really mean it. There's no place like the loveliest village on the plains.

Great for these types of students Anyone. No matter your walk of life you will find a place just for you at Auburn.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus I loved being able to Roll the Trees on Toomer's which not can not be don't because of the Alabama fan poisoning them. But the Student govenment is great at having activities such as Hey Day and there is always something going on on campus.
Bang for the buck When I first began my scholarships and aid were able to cover my tuition. However, since then the cost has greatly increased and I had to resort to loans as well. But Auburn has so much to offer that it is worth finding a way to pay for it. I would recommend to NEVER stop applying for additional scholarships.
What to do for fun I love football games and baseball games. Taking hikes and walks at some of the local parks are enjoyable.
Food and Dining Not a fan of the mandatory dining plan. I can eat cheaper and healthier off campus.
Dorm Life I did not live in the dorms.
Academic Rigor In education my classes were not hard, there was just alot of material to cover. However, in general courses I believe that the classes are challenging enough without being impossible to achieve in them.
Tips for prospective students Get to know your advisor!! When I was in the College of Math and Science I had no problem, when I came to Education it was a little more difficult because my advisor was not the most organized. You will know if you will need to stay on top of him or her.
In three sentences Auburn University changed so much during my years there. There are so many opportunities to be involved. It is the most frustrating and aggrivating years of my life, but I love Auburn!

Greek Life There are 17 sororities and a variety of fraternities. Greek life is a pretty big deal here. However, if you don't join a fraternity or sorority, you can still have a great social life here at auburn.
Clubs and Activities Auburn has a ton of clubs that you can join.
Great for these types of students It is great for people that want to go into engineering, agriculture, and veterinarian school. It is also great for people that value academics and having a full college experience. Also for people who love sports like football.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus We have two oak trees across from Toomer's Drugs. It is called Toomer's Corner. After every winning game we all go to the trees and roll them with toilet paper. Recently the trees were poisoned by a fan of our rival team, so they are coming down after this year's spring game. However, we will have a structure put in it's place that we can roll until the trees are replaced.
Bang for the buck The food is yummy but it is very expensive! You definitely get your money's worth on your education though.
What to do for fun The greek life is thriving here. Also you get to roll the Toomer's trees on game day! We are only an hour away from Atlanta too!
Food and Dining Auburn has amazing food! They don't have a bunch of cheap awful dining halls. Auburn offers a variety of different restaurants that you can spend your dining dollars at.
Dorm Life Auburn does not require you to live a dorm your freshman year, so I didn't!
Academic Rigor Auburn is one of the most academically challenging schools in the south. I definitely feel like I am getting my money's worth going to school here.
Tips for prospective students Be ready to work hard if you want to come here. Although Auburn is very fun and has a lot to offer socially, it is a very difficult school.

Categories Comments Campus Safety Campus is very safe and continues to take more precautions to add more safety. There are safety towers that with just one push of a button can call 9-11. All building require a swipe access after hours, and all dorms require swipe access at all times. They're always locked and safe!
Greek Life Greek Life at Auburn is very prominent and great. All of panhellenic has chapter rooms in dorms all located together. It's great for a unity for the sororities. The fraternities have two different rows of houses and are able to unite through that. Greek life is very supportive of each other by participating in other organization's philanthropy events and supporting each other. The average Greek life GPA is higher than the average Auburn GPA and many people involved in greek life are also highly involved elsewhere as well.
Clubs and Activities Auburn has plenty to offer when it comes to clubs and activities! Some are competitive to join, others you can join without trying out. If there's something that doesn't fit you, you can make your own club!
Great for these types of students All types! There's a home for everyone!
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus We have a lot of fun traditions. Most people know about the rolling over Toomers Corner, but we also have other football traditions such as the Tiger Walk (The football players walk through the screaming fans before each game). Some of my favorite traditions are Hey Day which is a day where everyone wears a name tag and says Hey to represent unity on campus. On the concourse there's free food and drinks and music and everyone gathers together as one Auburn family and hangs out. Another cool tradition of Auburn's is callouts. When a student tries out for a big organization, they are told when callouts are and everyone gathers behind the back steps of Cater Hall and there's friends supporting and everyone trying out. The heads of the organization call out their new members from the top of the balcony and the new members can run up the steps to join their new organization. It's a tradition unique to Auburn, so I love it. Lastly, the bell tower in our most famous building, Samford Hall, plays the fight song every day at 12. It is a great way to keep up the Auburn spirit to hear it across campus every day!
What to do for fun Sporting events, rolling toomers, shopping downtown, seeing movies, bowling, roller blading, hanging with friends on/off campus. There's plenty!
Food and Dining The food and dining is A- la- carte rather than meal swipes, which can be good and bad. Tiger dining works really hard to make plenty of options available at affordable prices. We have great well known food areas, such as Chick-fil-A (Our on campus chickfila is the highest grossing non- traditional chickfila in the country). We can use our dining money on food trucks too, which makes dining and food really good and really fun!
Dorm Life Dorm life is great! I'm moving into my third year living on campus. The Hill dorms definitely need some work as they are a little bit of a health hazard, but the new dorms being built and the ones recently built are great!
Academic Rigor The academic rigor is pretty intense for the college of sciences and mathematics. Professors aren't afraid to fail students, and do very frequently. They're always willing to work with you if you're willing to work for your grades, though. Often students do come short of the grades they want though, and won't get the little bump that other colleges are known for.
Tips for prospective students Get to know your professors, they're very willing to help you out. Often times, though you may think they will, they won't round up your almost As, but they can help make your almost A's real As!
In three sentences Auburn University really is the family that it so cheesily is referred to; the students, professors, and alumni will support their fellow Auburn family members. Auburn is a really difficult school to make good grades at, and especially for the sciences, it is a tough curriculum. No matter how hard I have to work, though, I believe in Auburn and I love it.

Categories Comments What to do for fun I really enjoy going to the Student ACTivities Center, also you have to check out the UPC website to find out about all the fun stuff that goes on, on campus. Tiger Nights!
Food and Dining Food needs a huge upgrade on Auburn's campus.
Dorm Life It is not bad, the Hill is the worst. You can get to class fast. It is a little pricy compared to off campus.
Academic Rigor For me, AU has a tough curriculum. Especially the engineering program. They are training us to think critically to solve problems dealing with physics and mathematics which doesn't come easy for some.
Tips for prospective students Find something you are really passionate about and do that. Do not be afraid to step out of your comfort zone and meet new people. Be a leader, a go-getter, and never give up.
In three sentences Auburn is a pricy school, especially for out of staters. The family atmosphere is what really makes the university for me. The teachers and students really know their stuff and care to help you succeed, academically, professionally, physically, mentally, and spiritually. Auburn has a place for every student.

Categories Comments Campus Safety We have some of the best campus safety in the country. We have security on campus 24/7 and there are these post on campus where if you feel threatened you can press a button and campus police will be there in less than a minute.
What to do for fun This really depends on what you enjoy to do in your free time. At Auburn, we have sports clubs, academic clubs, religious clubs, outdoors clubs, and much more. The beauty of this is that you get to choose what you enjoy doing for fun and do that. If you're into sports then join an intramural soccer or softball team, but if you enjoy reading, then join a book club. This is all up to you, but become involved at Auburn in some of the great organizations offered.
Food and Dining The food at Auburn is some of the best I've ever had. There is a huge variety of things to choose from. We have Asian, Mexican, Salads, Sandwiches, Chick Fil A, Pizza, the list could go on for a while. I don't have anything but good things to say about the food at Auburn and the people who serve you are some of the nicest people you will ever meet.
Dorm Life I personally do not live in a dorm, but I have friends that do and the dorms on campus are great. The location for most of them is much closer to your classes than living off campus would be. Also, most of the dorms have some form of dining close by which is also nice.
Academic Rigor Auburn is just like most universities, to make good grades you must put in one hundred percent effort. If you attend class every day, take good notes, study well in advance, and see your professors during their office hours you will succeed. It is all about how much time and effort you put into it.
Tips for prospective students If you are interested in Auburn, I would strongly encourage you to take a visit and see if this is the right place for you. The best way to choose where you would like to go is to see where you feel most comfortable on your visit. I believe if you visit Auburn once, you will fall in love and want to attend Auburn.
In three sentences Auburn University is the best college in America in my opinion. The teachers genuinely care about their students, the campus is beautiful, athletics are great, and their is a family feel at Auburn. The students and professors believe in Auburn and love it.

Categories Comments Campus Safety As far as I know, the campus has very few incidents. Just don't walk around after midnight by yourself or get a ride from a stranger.
Clubs and Activities So many options to choose from. There is a club/organization for everyone.
Bang for the buck Watch for any student organization hosted activities on campus. They almost always offer free meals such as hamburgers, hotdogs, or pizza.
What to do for fun I chose to join a club within my department, the Block and Bridle Club. Joining was the best decision I have made because I met almost all my friends down here in this club.
Food and Dining There are many dining options on campus all the way from pizza to Panda Express and everything in between. There is something for everybody, but it gets expensive if your tigercard has the minimum amount on it.
Dorm Life I did not stay in a dorm.
Academic Rigor I am an Animal Science major, and I found the English department classes to be very easy and only spent a very small time studying to maintain A's in those classes. The Animal Science classes are as hard as you choose to make them, but the professors are very helpful. The Chemistry department is not good, so just do your best.
Tips for prospective students As soon as class starts, begin meeting and getting to know your professors in every class. Even though they may not seem very nice, almost every professor will go out of their way to help you ace the class if you prove that you are trying really hard.
In three sentences I have been overall pleased with my time at Auburn. While I am not impressed with the quality of the Chemistry Department here at AU, I cannot say enough good things about the Agriculture Department. All of my Animal Science professors have gone above and beyond to help me succeed while I am pursuing my degree here at AU.
