Categories Comments Great for these types of students It is an excellent school for a student who is on a budget and cannot afford an expensive school. Also, it is a good school for students that had B averages in high school because it provides a fostering environment for learning and getting used to college life. Also, if you are required to work throughout your collegiate years this is a good school for you because the city of Augusta provides many job opportunities. Also, many ASU students are adult students are returning to school to get a higher degree, start a degree program, almost every class especially in the afternoon will have one or two adult students.
Tips for prospective students Before applying for admission, it would be a best bet to visit the campus during fall or spring semesters to see if it is a match for you. The school is very small compared to other universities in the state, but isn't crowded due to the small population of students. If you see yourself as a student at ASU, apply as soon as you can, admissions is rolling so you are able to apply even after the application deadline. The admission's office works really fast to give you an answer as soon as possible. If you are applying for University housing, get your application in as soon as possible because housing is limited, but before applying for housing- go check out the housing because for some the apartments are too far from the school and the area for some is not good, even if you don't like the student housing that the school provides, there are many options for housing even right on Walton Way, so it is close to school and covenant to school. Overall it is an excellent school, but many of its students commute to and from school and are from the Augusta- Richmond County area.
Bang for the buck The tuition for the school for in state is roughly around 2k per semester which is very affordable compared to other college and universities in the state of GA. The tuition and fees cover everything from parking, events that are held throughout the semester, use of the school's gym and other facilities. For students that have Georgia's HOPE scholarship, it is roughly around $40-200 dollars per semester to attend without books. Textbooks range roughly around $400-700 per semester but the ASU bookstore has a better buy back policy than any other school that I have encountered with its textbooks.
Did enjoy being here The campus is very small, which means that there are less students than major universities throughout the state. The campus has an historic charm feeling to it as many of the buildings on campus have some significant role from history. The students are very friendly and many know each other through the local highschools that they attended together. I was from a different high school which was over 150 miles away but I still met so many new people and everybody I encountered on campus were very nice, friendly and helpful. Most students become friends in their classes as they help each other throughout the semester. The school offers many different activities that are planned throughout the semester to bring its students together like movies, concerts, events and lectures. Also being in GA's second largest city, there is a lot of concerts and different events held off campus and ASU has the option of purchasing discounted tickets which allow the students to attend these events on a more affordable note.
Did learn a lot Most of the professors and TAs that I had at ASU were very knowledgeable in their field and also held terminal degrees in their fields. Like all colleges, most of the class times were strictly lecture based but many professors gave examples to describe what they were lecturing on and it allowed the student to really apply the knowledge to an everyday applicable field. Many professors have office hours which allow you to visit with your professor to get one on one help with things that you might have had trouble with in class. Also, the school's writing center and math lab are very structured and helpful! The TA's are very knowledgeable in their field and help the students out , if the student has a hard time understanding the professors method of teaching. If you are ready to learn and work hard, this school is for you.

Categories Comments Great for these types of students This school is great for any type of person. Shy people will meet people just as easily as more outgoing people will. Students who struggle in a subject will have classes that are at their level, other students who will be at that same level, and tutors that are readily available to help!!!
Tips for prospective students Come visit the school. Ask a lot of questions. Get your tour guide's email address if you can, so if you have more questions after you go home, you can have a specific person who can answer them for you. If you decide to come here, sign up for FYE. It's a great way to help you transition from living at home, to being a first year college student! If you can stay in the University Village Apts, do it! The experience is invaluable!
Bang for the buck This is a great school for the money! It's academics are excellent, and it's fun to go to see the sports teams play. It's got everything that a bigger school would have, but I don't feel like a number here. The University Village apartments are great, and I feel safe wherever I am.
Am enjoying being here I'm so glad that I picked ASU! I didn't know anyone before I came, but I've met so many people that I know I'll be friends with for life! I really like my teachers and my classes. I love living in an apartment, and having my own room! Everyone's been really helpful and nice.
Am learning a lot The teachers and the school really want you to succeed! The First Year Experience groups you with other Freshman who share your strengths and weaknesses, so you always have people you know to help you if you're struggling!

Categories Comments Great for these types of students Any around 3.3 and higher if you want to apply for scholarships!!!!
Tips for prospective students Be ready for challenges. If you have any concern in regards to how much work you have to do, and if this is the college for you, you should schedule a campus visit first before making your final decision.
Bang for the buck Apply for as many scholarships as you can. You will save a lot of money because it's not that not expensive!!!!
Will enjoy being here Definitely a friendly environment. You will have met friends that will last a lifetime. Not too crowded, nor too small. Campus is safe and secured!!!!
Will learn a lot Al lot of hands-on experiences.

Categories Comments Great for these types of students Students that enjoy a calm life. Those that enjoy or expect to spend time partying may not find the type of parties they were looking for here. Also excellent for any student that can maintain a 3.0 gpa because the school isn't that expensive you'll get a reasonably sized refund if you get plenty of scholarships.
Tips for prospective students Be yourself. Take a tour of the campus to see if this is truly where you want to be. Apply for as many scholarships as you can and try to save your refund money so that if anything happens you have it to use.
Bang for the buck It's not a flashy campus, but it is nice and has charm. Your fees include student activities such as concerts, sporting events, and lectures that the school has. They also give you chances to get discounted tickets for outings such as the movies some times.
Am enjoying being here The campus is wonderful. It's small so you don't have to worry about being late for a class that's on the other side of campus when you have 15 minutes between classes. The teachers and students are all friendly too.
Am learning a lot The teachers and teacher assistants are helpful. If you don't understand something you can ask and they'll help. Some classes are easier than others, but they all provide some sort of challenge.

Categories Comments Great for these types of students THE SCHOOL WILL BE GREAT FOR THOSE WITH A HUMBLE TASTE. IT IS A SCHOOL THAT IS AFFORDED. THE SCHOOL WOULD BE GREAT FOR THOSE WHO ALL THEY WANT TO DO IS TO ATTAIN WHATEVER DEGREE THEY INTEND ON ATTAINING AND LEAVE THE SCHOOL. STUDENTS WHO COME FROM A WEALTHY BACKEGROUND GO TO ASU BUT IT IS MOST LIKELY THAT THEY ATTEND A MORE EXPENSIVE SCHOOL. SO IN A NUTSHELL, IF YOUR PARENTS ARE NOT ADEQUATELY AND FINANCIALLY STABLE, THEY CAN STILL AFFORD TO ENROL YOU INTO ASU.
Tips for prospective students I WOULD ADVICE THOSE THAT INTEND ON GOING TO ASU TO MAKE AN APPOINTMENT FOR A TOUR AROUND THE SCHOOL. BY DOING SO, YOU BECOME AWARE OF WHAT IT IS YOU ARE GETTING YOURSELF INTO.. SINCE STUDENTS HAVE DIFFERENT PERSPECTIVES ON COLLEGES, IT IS BEST TO EXTEND YOUR RESEARCH ABOUT THE SCHOOL BY DRIVING THERE TO HAVE A LOOK. BUT I ASSURE THOSE OF DESCENT TASTE SATISFACTION WHEN THEY GO FOR THE TOUR.
Bang for the buck THE FEE IS ROUGHLY AROUND 2K, WHICH IS VERY AFFORDED ALONG WITH THE AID OF FINANCIAL AID AND SCHORLARSHIPS. THE ACCOMODATION IS ALSO VERY PLEASING COMPARED TO THAT OF OTHER INSTITUTIONS. THE STUDENT ARE ENTITLED TO SO MANY THINGS.
Will enjoy being here WHEN I SAW THE SCHOOL AS A WHOLE, I IMMEDIATELY KNEW THAT JOY WAS GOING TO BE IN MY HEART AT ALL TIMES. EVERY INDIVIDUAL PRESENT THERE ALL HAVE A PLEASANT PERSONALITY.THE STUDENTS THERE ARE ALSO CORDIAL. I AM CERTAIN THAT I WILL ENJOY BEING AT ASU.
Will learn a lot i BELEIVE AUGUSTA STATE UNIVERSITY IS A BRIGHT INSTITUTION. MY GOING THERE FOR THE FIRST TIME GAVE ME A FEELING THAT I WAS GOING TO BE INCREASED ACADMICALLY. THE TEACHERS THERE ALL HAVE THE ZEAL TO TEACH AND CARRY ALL STUDENTS ALONG.

Categories Comments Tips for prospective students Take advantage of the accessible professors and the free tutoring!
Bang for the buck It's very affordable and you get more than what you are paying for.
Am enjoying being here Campus is small so there is not a lot going on on campus. It's a commutor college, so very few students live on campus. There is enough to keep you occupied in the city of Augusta though.
Am learning a lot Professors are very helpful, usually very reachable as well. Classes are small, which enable me to learn a lot and ask questions whenever I don't understand something. If you ever have any questions outside of class, everyone is helpful and friendly. Curriculum is not always the most challanging, but it teaches you what you need to know.

Tips for prospective students Go take a walk around the grounds - you'll be hooked! See all the great facilities that ASU has, talk to anyone who goes there and just do your research and you can't go wrong!
Bang for the buck Compared to most other colleges, I believe ASU is very reasonably priced
Am enjoying being here It's a great atmosphere - beautiful campus, great facilities, awesome teachers - you can't ask for better
Am learning a lot My teachers are dedicated in helping all their students achieve and be the best.

Categories Comments Campus Safety we have police both on campus and at university village.
Greek Life there are many different sororities and fraternities to choose from, and each have their own specific charities which they do events and raise money for.
Great for these types of students this college is best for those who wish to major in nursing, communications, or early childhood education.
What to do for fun we have the augusta mall, which is only a few minutes up the road and a rgal cinemas which is always packed. of course there are clubs down town.
Food and Dining there is food on campus, but the cafeteria closes at 6pm. and it's the same food every day. so you might prefer to shope for groceries, which are cheaper in the long run anyway.
Dorm Life university village is off-campus, and costs $435 a month for four bedrooms and $535 a month for two bedrooms. electricity, water, etc. all goes to one bill instead of separate which is very convenient. and there are many activities for residents to attend.
Academic Rigor you must be extremely dedicated to your studies in order to succeed academically.
Tips for prospective students study, study, study.
In three sentences asu is academically challenging. the people you meet here will be your friends for life. try to know what you want to major in by your second year of college.

Categories Comments Great for these types of students this school is great for any type of person. shy people will meet people just as easily as more outgoing people will. students who struggle in a subject there are learning facilities on campus that can help you and tutor are always available. also if you cannot afford a expensive school with great befits this is school is great at an affordable price.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus the campus has an historic charm feeling to it as many of the buildings on campus have some significant role from history. also this school is claim to have a ghost i have not seen it. but it is to be said that after climbing the staircase at bellevue hall, a distraught young woman threw herself from a second-story window, joining her fiance in death. emily galt died more than 140 years ago, but some say she has never left the house, which is now part of augusta state university.
Bang for the buck the tuition for the school for in state is around 2.000 per semester which is very affordable compared to other college and universities in the state of ga. the tuition and fees cover everything from parking, events that are held throughout the semester, use of the school's gym and other facilities. for students that have georgia's hope scholarship, it is roughly around $40-200 dollars per semester to attend without books. just remember now if you are enrolled in a learning support class hope will not pay for it. textbooks range roughly around $400-700 per semester but the asu bookstore has a better buy back policy than any other school that i have encountered with its textbooks.
What to do for fun since augusta state university is located in a small town there is really not much to do, especially if your a transfer student. there always bowling, movies, restaurants, some clubs and parties around town. but the school actually every monday has movie day free for asu students. but its best to have some friends that whenever your bored you can hang out with them and do something crazy.
Food and Dining the food is great i personally love it. but the only error is that it is expensive its best to have a meal plan, but if not just go occasionally but at least once to try it out.
Dorm Life dorm life is expensive at any school and here just the same. every year the price goes up a certain percentage. the dorms here are basic not extraordinarily. regular tv, internet, water, heat and basic kitchen appliances. but you there a pool, that one plus because since it is in georgia summers here are way, way too hot.
Academic Rigor depending on your major the school is not too hard just as always do your work, study at 2 hours for every hour in class and complete homework assignments. but this school is known for there nursing and business programs. the nursing program is tough here and expect the best from the students. the business school on the to the other hand, gives free coffee and is known for one the best in the state of georgia.
Tips for prospective students before applying to school i suggest coming to visit the campus and get a feel for it to see if it right for. the admission's office works really fast to give you an answer as soon as possible. also if you decide to apply for housing try to do it asap because space is really limited. try to come to class at least 30 hour early, because parking here is terrible. use all the resources the schools gives you like the pig out. which equals free food, the career and academic advisors here just to help you and try to come to class on time teachers here are really picky on that.
In three sentences augusta state university is very small compared to other universities in the state. parking at this school is horrible. on the other hand the hull college of business here has so many resources that other schools in this state do not.

Categories Comments Campus Safety The campus is very safe. The campus police are very nice and always willing to help. If there is a problem reported they are quick to investigate and follow proper protocol.
Greek Life Greek life is active yet not active on campus. The fraternities and sororities are highly active during the fall semester trying to recruit but they soon fall off. ZTA is the most active sorority on campus.
Clubs and Activities ASU has many clubs and activities. for students.
Great for these types of students The atmosphere is best for students who want to live in a city but with a home time feel.
Bang for the buck Tuition is very inexpensive comparable to many of the schools in the University Systems of Georgia. The books are on the higher end but there are buybacks.
What to do for fun For fun students will sit in the amphitheatre and chat with friends or go to the game room and t.v. room for hours upon hours. The are always events hosted bu the Jaguar Activities Board.
Food and Dining The cafeteria is very close knit. Meal plans are offered; however the dining area is not opened on the weekends. Most of the food is unhealthy and overpriced.
Dorm Life The majority of the students that attend ASU live off campus. The University Village is located five minutes away from the main campus. The commuter students usually live in surrounding counties.
Academic Rigor The professors are highly qualified as they do their jobs. Many professors are willing to give you good advice and extend you many opportunities to better yourself. Many of the teachers also givve you a list of their office hours and are more than willing to set up an appointment.
Tips for prospective students You should always visit a campus before your orientation. Many college campuses may look good in brochures; in reality you need to use your five senses rather than one.
In three sentences Augusta State University is a smaller campus within the University Systems of Georgia that offers a historic charm. The campus is full of traditional students by day and many non-traditional students at night.

Categories Comments Campus Safety Full time, 24 hour campus police on vehicle and foot patrol. If GA ever gets rid of it's ridiculous law saying college students cannot defend themselves adequately on campus then I will rate this higher.
Greek Life A variety of these options exist.
Clubs and Activities The process for organizing and getting official recognition from the Office of Student Activities can be a pain as they have to be done every semester. However, there are clubs for just about everything with some more active than others of course.
Great for these types of students Students that WANT to learn and complete a degree program. Students that just try to 'flow along' will not like school so they will not do well here. Take that advice from someone that was in that position before.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus ASU main campus is on the site of the Augusta Arsenal (used in Civil War and World War eras). The student center, JSAC is managed by students working while attending class full-time. (like me) This is not common in many student centers.
Bang for the buck By far not only the cheapest 4-year college in the area (INCLUDING ONLINE SCHOOLS), it offers a great deal for the price of attendance, even if parking is a bit crowded at times.
What to do for fun This is a commuter campus. Even with the mutiple Fraternities, Sororities, Campus/Student Groups, Sports, and NCAA National Champion Golf Team there are still medium city clubs, dinning, museums, concerts, etc.
Food and Dining For a small commuter campus, the dinning is adequate with a small cafeteria/station eatery. Sandwhiches, a minimal Starbucks, to order grill, and pizza station combine with premade/prepackaged foods.
Dorm Life Until the 2013 Merger with GHSU (formerly MCG) there is only one off campus, school controlled Apartment Complex with rent in the 600s per month that have to be prepaid.
Academic Rigor This is NOT a hard school as long as you are ready and willing to put in the work needed. Like all schools, you will do MUCH better when you decide you are ready to actually learn and go to class as well as complete assignments.
Tips for prospective students GET INVOLVED IN ACTIVITIES ON CAMPUS. Very publicized studies have shown that students do better academically if they do not just go to class and go home.
In three sentences The teachers here want to teach students. If you are ready and willing to both learn and be critical thinkers you should do well here.

Categories Comments What to do for fun While I'm not studying, I like to play my guitar. I sometimes hang out in the Activities Center at Augusta State. Lastly, I'll go to the gym and work out.
Food and Dining The food prices at Augusta State are a little high, but the food is worth every penny. There are some affordable meal at great values. Finally, students can purchase a meal plan and receive extra cash for the meal plan.
Academic Rigor For every one hour a person spend in the classroom, he or she should spend another two hours studying for that class. By spending that amount of time for class a student will never be behind in the class. This is a sure way of getting a A in the class.
Tips for prospective students A student should not let allow his or herself to become stress out. Stress is a good thing sometime but to much stress can burn a person out. Find active ways to relieve stress like lay back on a nice day and watch the clouds.
In three sentences Augusta State University is a great institution of study. It is currently under going a merger with Georgia Health Sciences. I am hoping the merger will allow me to take my studies even further.

Categories Comments Campus Safety The campus police is on campus 24 hours a day seven days a week. There are emergency call booth in all locations, and surveillance cameras.
Greek Life Delta Chi, Zeta Theta Alpha, Omega Psi Phi, Alpha Kappa Alpha, Delta Sigma Theta, Zeta Phi Beta, Kappa Alpha Psi, Alpha Sigma Phi.
Great for these types of students This school is great for students that are about business, and wants to meet people from all walks of life.
What to do for fun There are several student organizations, and game balls to attend. The city of Augusta has several places for students to have fun for all types of diversities.
Food and Dining The JSAC has a verity of meal course to chose from and excellent meal plans.
Dorm Life We have apartments not dorms, but they are well maintain. The complex is also gated with a security guard at the front entrance.
Academic Rigor Augusta State have knowledgable professors that challenge your way of thinking.
Tips for prospective students Manage your time well. Come well prepared for class. Organize a study group. Maintain a healthy life-style.
In three sentences Augusta State University is a credible Liberal Arts and Sciences University. It has several nationally known programs: ROTC, basketball and golf team. The campus is well designed for student convenience.

Categories Comments Campus Safety I have never felt unsafe when working on the Augusta State University campus. It is a safe and secure environment that is constantly being patrolled 24-7 by police officers who are armed and have full arrest powers. Also, emergency phones are placed all over campus to ensure the safety of students, especially the ones who attend night classes or decide to stay up late to work on an assignment.
Clubs and Activities There are over one-hundred student organizations at Augusta State University. Concerts, plays, sororities, fraternities, and access to championship NCAA athletics, you name it! There are plenty of activities to keep you busy in your free time.
Great for these types of students ASU is great for any type of student. Students who like a challenge and are ready to experience college are welcomed by this school. Also students originally from Augusta will love its convenience from home. Overall, Augusta State is for anyone looking for a successful career and future.
Bang for the buck Augusta State University is an absolutely beautiful campus with rigorous courses taught by passionate professors and plenty of resources to take advantage of. Students at Augusta State have access to a three-story library, several computer labs, and even 24-hour access to the main buildings on campus. The experiences you'll have there far exceed the price paid to attend.
Food and Dining The food court at Augusta State offers many different restaurants to choose from. Students are offered a variety of places to grab a quick bite to eat in between classes, such as Stacks Deli, Freshens Smoothies, The Arsenal Grille, La Vincita Pizza, and even a Starbucks! Snack and soda machines are also placed all over campus. Not to mention everything is affordable priced!
Dorm Life Augusta State does not have dorms. Instead they offer a more spacious college living experience at University Village, located not far from main campus. A shuttle comes to pick up residents every fifteen minutes, making it really nice for students who do not own cars. University village offers both two bedroom apartments and four bedrooms. UV is also complete with outdoor swimming pool, game room, computer lab, furnished apartments, volleyball court, clubhouse, putting green, and a 24-hour laundry facility. It is also extremely close to the Augusta mall, dining, and Christenberry Fieldhouse, Augusta State's main athletic complex.
Academic Rigor Augusta State University is well-known for its high-standards English department. Even the introductory courses can be challenging. However writing the best paper you can really builds onto your academic foundation. The instructors at ASU are more than happy to take the time out of their day in order to better you and your work. Also, upper level courses such as Botany and Differential Equations really challenge you and the way you think. Staying motivated and pushing through each course will change the way you think, during and after college life.
Tips for prospective students As long as a student stays on top of their schoolwork, they are guaranteed to succeed. Going to class is one of the easiest, yet most important ways to get good grades. Stay on top of deadlines, try your hardest, and take advantage of the professor's office hours. They are passionate and willing to help you!
In three sentences Augusta State is a great college for nearly any student to attend, especially ones who live locally. Other than being convenient to students, ASU provides a multitude of courses anywhere from Ornithology, to Documentary Filmmaking, to Early Renaissance Painting. One of the many advantages to going to this university are the class sizes; a student will never feel neglected by their professor as a result of its impressive student-teacher ratio.

Categories Comments Campus Safety There are several campus security on site that patrol the campus and dorms all day and night. My car wouldn't start one day and they came and started it that morning and that afternoon when I left, so they are very helpful to the students as well.
Greek Life There are Greet Life and clubs that a person can enter, but I'm not familiar with them yet.
Clubs and Activities There are so many clubs you can join it's what meets your needs, but take your time a choose what's for you and the activities are great, there's the gym, tennis, basketball, soccer and best of all the golf team that we won the National last year.
Great for these types of students Never have to be alone there are several students that are just like you, so get out and look and venture a little, we somehow feel that we are different then everyone else, but there are people that do as we do and think the same, so there's someone that you can have a buddy system with.
What to do for fun We have several functions on campus as well as seeing the different sororities do their step dance. There are several socials that you can get involved in.
Food and Dining Although I live in Augusta, I do go to the Dining Facility and the variety and different restaurants in one location is wonderful and so convenient.
Dorm Life Not in the dorm, I live in Augusta so it's convenient.
Academic Rigor I will give Augusta State University a high five and 100% plus.
Tips for prospective students Education, learning and not costly, try Augusta State it's a great University.
In three sentences Augusta State University is a wonderful school and has a great support system and the teachers are awesome, they will help you to understand. I should have went here first instead of Benedict College.

Food and Dining although asu is expensive, the food quality is fairly decent.
Tips for prospective students make sure to do your homework, ask for help when you need it, and partcipate!

Categories Comments Campus Safety Campus Safety is a plus. Cops are always looking out and send out BOLO alerts when needed. If you need an escort to a class you can call them and they will gladly come.
Greek Life Greek Life is very low key after the first two weeks of the Fall Semester.
Clubs and Activities There are several clubs to join at ASU. Activities are always taking place as The activities board is sure to advertise them.
Bang for the buck ASU is very inexpensive compared to other Universities in Georgia. Since the staffers are great at their jobs students do not have to worry about wasting their money.
What to do for fun For fun students spend a great amount of time in the game room and in the Jaguar Student Activities Center. Students also visit the fitness center to work out during down time. There are several student lounges where you can study or just go to hang out with friends. The Jaguar Activities Board is always advertising the many events that are taking place on campus.
Food and Dining There are a few options in the cafeteria at ASU. The staff works efficiently so there aren't long waiting lines. The food is always fresh and prepared when you order it.
Dorm Life Unfortunately there aren't any dorms on campus. The school has apartments (University Village) on west campus which is a few minutes down the road. Some of the people in the UV are very friendly.
Academic Rigor Like any other college, academics play a huge role at Augusta State. The staff works extra hard to make sure students are doing their absolute best.
Tips for prospective students If you are thinking about attending ASU you should do a campus visit. Using your five senses and not just what you see online will help you make a decision on whether or not you want to attend. The buildings are not far apart so getting to classes in a different building takes no more than five minutes. Most students are commuter students. If you like the feel of a small campus and great staff then ASU is definitely your school.

In three sentences I like Augusta State but I feel like it is not geared towards nontraditional students at all. It's very hard to find evening classes once you start working towards your major. Greek Life I don't know much about that.
Clubs and Activities They have different clubs and activities but I rarely attend them.
Great for these types of students It great for students who are already experienced academics. However, it is not place for students who procrastinate have very low finances
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus I've never heard any traditions.
Bang for the buck If you considering working on campus, there is a career center available to help you search for on or off campus. You can also say you're interested in work-study, or apply for scholarships

Categories Comments Campus Safety There are stations to report and ask for help all throughout the campus. Security is on the grounds 24/7 and routinely checks buildings after class hours.
Greek Life We have several fraternities and sororities on campus; but we have no frat or sorority houses you would see on bigger universities.
Clubs and Activities A wide range of activities and clubs are available from Pro-life groups to religion groups, to art clubs, to gaming clubs, to political clubs. There is always something going on on campus through these many groups.
Great for these types of students Students who don't like big crowds of people. Students who are more personal. Students who like small study groups and more interaction with a professor.
Bang for the buck For in-state tuition, it offers a great deal for what you pay!
What to do for fun There is a Student Activities Center devoted to lounging for students. In there is a game room with pool tables, ping pong tables, xbox games and a complete fitness center. There are also many chairs throughout the building for rest and enjoyment between classes.
Food and Dining The food is good, just expensive. We have sandwiches, a grilling station where you can order burgers and hotdogs and other grilled things, a pizza station, a java station with Starbucks. I would reccomend bringing your lunch some days!
Dorm Life There are currently no dorms on campus at the moment. There is however, off campus housing and as far as I know the facilities are relatively nice with an open living room with a kitchen and four rooms and two bathrooms.
Academic Rigor The science and english departments are well known for being relatively difficult. I cannot speak for the other departments, but the school is nationally accredited and (as I type this) in the process of becoming a research school by combining with the local Medical College Of Georgia.
Tips for prospective students Come eager to learn and grow beyond academics. There are many opportunities to meet people, take them! Also it helps to become friends with your professors, they can help you out later!
In three sentences Augusta State University is an awesome University to get your foot in the door of the campus lifestyle. The college is relatively small, which is great for the class sizes. They offer everything big colleges have from sororiteis/fraternities, several clubs, and personal tutoring; only lack in campus housing.

Categories Comments Campus Safety Campus police is always patrolling the parking lots, or walking around campus to ensure there aren't any disturbances to the students.
Greek Life Greek life exists at ASU, however it does not consume all of the student body since it is a smaller institution. There is an annual Greek Week held annually at the start of every school year.
Clubs and Activities There is a wide variety of clubs that students can choose from and join.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus Almost every month, student clubs hold a Pig Out which is a free barbeque for students. Also during Homecoming week, a Greek Day is featured in which all the fraternities and sororities represent their house, and perform for the students.
Bang for the buck Any educational institution should be considered a bang for the buck. Receiving an education is very important, and any school that provides a worthwhile experience should be credible. At ASU, the curriculum is very rigorous, especially since the recent merge with Georgia Health Sciences University.
What to do for fun The student center has game and tv rooms, a gym, and a lounge of massage chairs, so you can definitely go there to relax during study breaks.
Food and Dining There are only two main cafeterias on campus, a very large one located in the student center, and another smaller one in of the main classroom buildings. The larger one is divided into about 6 different restaraunts offering a variety of food styles. Campus food can be a bit pricy, and can either be tasty or not so worth it. I usually pack my lunch everyday, so I do not have to worry about buying lunch at school. However, students can purchase a meal plan and the money will be on the student's ID card, which can be used while purchasing meals.
Dorm Life I personally commute to the university everyday, so I have not had the opportunity to either visit or live in the dorms. ASU has student apartments that are called The Village, and are located 10 minutes off of campus. They have a security gate, so it is only accessible for students only, as well as having a security officer on site 24/7. The only complaints I have heard from residential students is that the rental prices are bit expensive, and there have been some break-ins despite security being on site.
Academic Rigor From my personal experience the English, Math, and Science departments are exceptionally challenging. If you are majoring in any of these subjects, be prepared to work extra hard and maintain your grades. Although these classes can be difficult to handle, each of these departments cater to student resources such as tutoring centers for extra assistance for students, and students should fully take advantage of any help granted by the university! Also, professors can be very helpful as well, so take advantage of stopping by their office during their office hours, as well as asking questions in class when you don't understand something.
Tips for prospective students Prospective students need to be ready for the workload amount that is expected with the rigorous curriculum. Be prepared each time you come to class, and set your priorities for study time. Time management and learning how to balance academics with your social life will be difficult, but having the two together will not result in successful grades, as well as procrastionation. A very important piece of advice for new students is while you take your academics seriously, you should also make sure that you enjoy your college years!
In three sentences Augusta State University is a public, liberal arts university that has recently merged with Augusta's top medical college: Georgia Health Sciences University. Although it has a small campus, it has a diversified student body, and offers a variety of degree programs. A fun fact about this university, is that it is actually the oldest institution in the state of Georgia!

Clubs and Activities ASU has over 50 different active clubs and organizations, including different sorority and fraternity groups and Honors alumni.
Great for these types of students Any individual that wants a well rounded education.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus Bellevue (meaning beautiful vista), formerly a summer home for Freeman Walker, a former U.S. Senator and mayor of Augusta is used as an administration. The campus has incorporated salvaged parts from the arsenal that used to be in Augusta.
What to do for fun Join one of the clubs or the Greek Life, or drive down the street to Forest Hills park or the Augusta Mall. There are also a number of art galleries and antique stores since Augusta is an area rich in culture.
Food and Dining ASU has a cafeteria and the dining services are run by the company Sodexo. The food court includes a Starbucks, a Freshens, an Arsenal Grill, a LaVincita, a Stacks Deli and a simply-to-go. The menus include gluten-free, local, organic, vegetarian and vegan options.
Dorm Life ASU owns a small community living area called University Village. You can live in 2 or 4-bedroom apartments and get free internet. There is also a shuttle that runs between UV and the campus.
Academic Rigor There is a lot of new information to process on any given day, though each professor's teaching style is different.
Tips for prospective students Get involved! ASU also has a lot of clubs and extra curricular activities you can participate in.
In three sentences Augusta State University has a large variety of majors and minors. ASU is the home of the nation's most outstanding ROTC program. As an added bonus, it is a beautiful campus.

Categories Comments Campus Safety Augusta States campus is extremely safe to me. They have a very concerned and always monitoring police force who ride frequently through out campus. Also as you walk around campus if there ever is an emergency there are blue lit towers that u can press to call help.
Greek Life Augusta State does have Greek Life.
Clubs and Activities Augusta state also has a lot of clubs and activities. They have chess , checker and other social clubs, intramural sports and even summer time activates like off season practices for intramural sports.
Great for these types of students Those who like causal and relaxed college life. Those who like calm and organized classes, and also those who like well educated professors.
Bang for the buck It is worth spending every penny, without a doubt you will be satisfied with the education and the campus life you will receive.
What to do for fun At Augusta state there are so many things to do. While on break from class you could go to JSAC center. This is place where you can dine and also go upstairs to the game lounge where they have Xbox's, PlayStation's and also Wii's; also there is area where they have massaging chairs.
Food and Dining At Augusta State there on campus food is amazing, they have cooks that prepare each inch of food delicately and treat you with the utmost respect. The Price for the food is accurate for the amount you get.
Dorm Life Augusta State has a wonderful on campus housing system. Beautiful dorms with a view of mid-town Augusta. It is right across the street from First T of Augusta( a golf driving range and training facility) and in door aquatic center.
Academic Rigor Augusta State has some strict rules but the are mainly only for on campus housing.
Tips for prospective students When you come to Augusta State enjoy yourself. Take pride in everything you do and become apart of the school. By taking part in some of the schools thousands of activities.
In three sentences It is a school of opportunities with wonderful professors and staff. Augusta State also has fantastic places on campus to eat at such as a smoothie shop, pizzeria, and soul food place. The school also has a lot of accessibility for those who are handicap.

Categories Comments Campus Safety Since we have our own campus, we don't have to worry about a huge amount of non-college traffic. Even still, there are panic buttons placed all around campus and police are always on duty. We've had relatively few incidents, and most of those are thefts- so just be smart, lock up your things and keep them out of sight.
Greek Life Several frats and sororities for a wide variety of individuals, whether you're the classic frat boy, a multifaceted female looking for opportunities to help you along the way, or one of those complicated individuals that can't be pinned down in anything.
Clubs and Activities Fairly active clubs, fairly wide variety, lots of opportunity for growth.
Great for these types of students Science, Health, Biology,
Bang for the buck To those with HOPE and Pell Grant, this school will end up being fairly inexpensive and provide all the enriching opportunities of a state school without the big price tag. However, without these scholarships or some kind of waiver, the student fees will get you.
Food and Dining ASU has a cafeteria that serves five different kinds of food: smoothies, subs, grill, southern meal, and pizza. It also has a cafe that serves pre-packaged food, hotdogs, soup, and various other snacks. These choices have the potential of getting old, but the prices are fairly reasonable and the meal plans will save you some money. They are fairly conveniently placed, but close in the early evening.
Dorm Life Since ASU partners with an apartment complex for their dorm accommodations, the dorms are quite nice in comparison to many in other schools. The dorms are apartment style with four rooms, two bathrooms, a kitchen, and a living room. I think this system is conducive to growth in young college students, creating a situation where they are encouraged to live on their own without many of the stresses of independent life.
Academic Rigor I've found my program, Fine Arts, to be wonderfully challenging and informative. It has pushed me to discover things that I would have never tried before, and given me the tools to be successful- in my field, and as an individual.
Tips for prospective students Students thinking of coming to Augusta State University should know that ASU has a place for pretty much everyone, but will be especially beneficial for Health and Science students. Students who don't know what they want to do will find a wide range of possibilities at ASU.
In three sentences Though it's currently experiencing a few bumps as it tries to merge with Georgia Heath and Sciences, Augusta State is a school devoted to improvement. If you're looking for a school that's on the up and up, this is the one. With a lively student body and devoted professors, Augusta State is the place that will help you find your place.

Greek Life Im not really into all the soroities and fraternaties but there are about 3 or 4 of each i believe.
Clubs and Activities There are many of activities and clubs available, too many to name. All types of clubs and activities for many personalities.
Great for these types of students studious, fun and out going, but there is also room for quiet and students tha are to themselves.

Dorm Life I have no idea about Dorm Life.
Academic Rigor Study, Study, Study! Professors are tough but they give you what you need to make it! Know that when you leave this school you will definitely know what you are talking about. Professor feedback has always been encouraging and I can't say enough about the wealth of knowledge that is at your hands if you choose to utilize it.

Categories Comments Campus Safety Public Safety is always on campus and just a phone call away
Greek Life A few, but not as many as the larger schools
Clubs and Activities There are many clubs and greek life on campus that would love for you to get involved!
Bang for the buck It's definitely worth the money, less than $3000 for the semester, and you get the same education that you would get somewhere else and pay double.
What to do for fun It's fun just to walk around on campus, there's a lot of history considering it used to be the Augusta Arsenal. There's a fitness center, and a big field for picnics, frisbee, or kickball!
Food and Dining Right now, all we have is the food in the JSAC and in Allgood, that are over priced and not a very good selection, but I know this will be changing in the future after the consolidation.
Dorm Life As of now, the only on campus housing is University Village, which is apartment type living. But, in the future they will be building dorms on the Walton Way campus.
Academic Rigor ASU is just as challenging as the big universities in the state, its just in a better environment. The professors can teach at a higher level to a class of 20 than they could to a class of 300.
Tips for prospective students Pick you major early and get involved with others in your department and have a good relationship with your professors, as you will spend a lot of time with them for multiple classes.
In three sentences ASU is a wonderful place to get an undergraduate degree. Dorm Life The dorm life is wonderful. It teaches you responsibility and it gives you a sense of what living on your own is like. Plus there is a pool here and there are many people who are very friendly and welcoming.
Academic Rigor The English department may be a little challenging but as long as you ask questions and take good notes you will be fine. The other classes that I have taken have been extremely easy. Basically you have to pay attention and take good notes on the lectures and read the text.
Tips for prospective students Just have fun because it's college!! But while you are having fun you also have to stay focused on your school work. No college isn't hard but once you get side tracked it's sometimes hard to get back on track.
In three sentences Overall Augusta State is a wonderful school. I have enjoyed my time here and plan on staying here to finish m degree. Sometimes it gets hard but with the help of the wonderful teachers and helpful peers I made it through my freshman year!!

Categories Comments Campus Safety Great campus police staff. They understand that we are college students that want to have fun, but keep us safe at the same time.
Greek Life Small, but growing! Greek Life is extremely positive here at ASU. All Greek Students have the highest gpa's in the University and overall are better known throughout school.
Clubs and Activities Many clubs and activities to choose from, with a wide variety!
Great for these types of students Students leaving home for the first time, that are interested in a small college experience with a lot of volunteer opportunities.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus Pig Out is an event every semester, that is probably a student favorite. The entire campus gets to 'pig out' on free food, mingle with fellow students, and enjoy fun things like moon bounce, cotton candy, and carnival games!
Bang for the buck Not much to do at first glance, but if you become involved, it will be a great overall college experience without the distractions of a big university.
What to do for fun In town there is a bowling alley, movie theatre, ice skating and roller skating rink, and other rec. activities. Campus life was better this year, so I expect that it will continue to improve to create that college feel.
Food and Dining The town has many food options, but the University has very little options, and prices are very high. There is also no meal plan available for students.
Dorm Life There is only one apt. complex that the school owns currently. Rent is pretty expensive, and the office staff is not very friendly.
Academic Rigor Academics are extremely challenging, especially literature and science courses. It is known for being Little Harvard on the hill. However, teachers work with you to ensure your success.
Tips for prospective students Do not attend this University if you expect a UGA or GSU experience. ASU is unique, and may be smaller but well worth it. The faculty and students will make you feel at home.
In three sentences Augusta State University is a diverse campus with many student involvement opportunities. It is a growing campus, with a small campus feel. Instead of being just a number, you have reasonable class sizes to verify a real relationship with professors.

Categories Comments Food and Dining Augusta State provides in-campus dining that provides exceptional entrees of food varying from subs and sandwiches to home-style cooking. There are many choices that anyone could choose from which makes dining much more satisfying.
Dorm Life The housing Augusta State provides is spectacular. They provide apartments for students including two bedroom and 4 bedroom apartments. This is one major difference from other colleges as they have dorms inside their campuses while the apartments are about two miles away from campus.
Academic Rigor The professors at Augusta State want their students to strive for success and the school provides a variety of tools needed to aid students in the help that they need.
Tips for prospective students If anyone would want to go to a lively college where it is lively and fun, then Augusta State University would not be the right choice as it is mostly the opposite of this description.
In three sentences Augusta State is a very mellow college compared to other major universities. It's a school that focuses on their students success well being. I'd give Augusta State University an overall grade of an 80.
