    Campus Safety

There are campus police and the real police are training right on campus so there's never a shortage of security!

    Clubs and Activities

BCCC offers lots of different things to do, some clubs start in particular classes some are school wide.

Great for these types of students

This is great for student who do not want to live on campus for whatever reason. Students with children, students who want to just get a certificate in a certain field while they are working on a degree, and students who may just be ready or not into the large campus life will benefit from going to this school, everyone would benefit from going to this school some kind of way.

Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus

Here on campus they have lots of job fairs that make it easier for students to get jobs. Outdoors there are lot of benches and picnic tables located underneath trees in shaded areas. If you just want to be alone I guarantee you will be able to find a nice are with a table to be alone and focus on your work or just relax. There is a big public library with two computer room in it.

    Bang for the buck

For the cost of this school, you get a lot. The school has a low cost and the degrees and certificates you can earn and use to make money makes the proportion of school cost and career salary seem unreal. You can be on your way to becoming just about anything at this school. They are wonderful in helping you to get where you want to be and the student services and financial aid office do all they can to ensure that every student achieves what they want to. This school is small, fun, personal, and very good all for a low cost and little hassle.

    What to do for fun

Although there is not much fun on campus beside the student lounges, with BCCC being a small school everyone just about knows everyone else so you can make so many new friends to hang out with after school around town. Being in a large school makes cliques and groups, here everyone knows everyone and everyone is friendly.

    Food and Dining

Beaufort County Community College has a small cafe where you can order food and they are also directly across from a gas station that features a small cafe where you can order anything from cheese biscuits to hamburgers. As with any school the vending machines are also plentiful anytime a quick snack is needed.

    Dorm Life

The great thing about Beaufort County Community College is that you do not have to live on campus. Many universities require that freshman have to live on campus and park in certain lots but here no one lives on campus and everyone can park wherever they like, meaning seniors do not get seniority over freshman. They do however have very nice student lounges equipped with many couches and chairs and flat-screen TV's. There are many areas where students can go to just sit around and relax while being right on campus but not having to live on campus.

    Academic Rigor

Beaufort County Community College offers a wide range of courses to choose from. You can take auto mechanic classes that are hands on, cosmetology classes that are hands on, on campus police officer training, and hands on nursing classes. The instructors are excellent about communicating with students, they check their emails daily, they leave more than one contact number, clearly state the times they will be in their office, and now they even have live online chats with classes on Pronto! There are many different degrees and certificates that you can get here such as welding, NA and NAII, mechanics license, cosmetology license, you can train to become a police officer here and many more things you can earn.

    Tips for prospective students

Do not hesitate to ask your academic adviser questions about different courses when registering, its better to know what you're taking than to be stuck in a class that you do not want. Online or on campus, make the choice that is right for you, you can always switch later. Be sure to turn in all of your documents needed for financial aid early because they will tell you it is too late then you will have to wait until the next semester.

    In three sentences

Beaufort County Community College is easy to adjust to. Beaufort County Community College is fun and more personal than a big university. Beaufort County Community College works with you to make sure you achieve your goals as fast as you want to.

    Campus Safety

Excellent campus safety is offered. You can easily spot an officer who is patrolling the grounds. There are also pull stations within reach of most every area. The grounds are well lit for night classes as well.

    Greek Life

None that I am aware of.

    Clubs and Activities

There is the honor clubs: Gamma Beta Phi and the Hope Club. They offer the volley ball team named Seahawks. There is the Club Waves and MLT Club as well as the Student Government Association which elects officers each semester. They always encourage participation in their club and at each meeting.

Great for these types of students

I would say great for all types of students.

Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus

There is always the Student Day, where the National Guard comes down and brings a large tent for you to play paint ball. They offer a rock climbing apparatus, and of course, great food for the students and best of all, free of charge. This event is once per semester.

    Bang for the buck

Overall, I enjoy the small size of the school. Long lines are not too big of a problem except for the first day of school at the bookstore. Of course, long lines do exist on financial check day, but that is to be expected. There are small commutes to and from the buildings you have to attend, but an abundance of shade trees and green grass.

    What to do for fun

They have a weight room facility available to students and staff. They have several clubs available which always encourage new members.

    Food and Dining

I have been pleased with the menu offered at the Dining Area with nutritious breakfast and lunches. A variety of beverages are offered as well as a big screen TV in the dining hall and several vending machines for those in a hurry. The vending machines are pricey, unfortunately.

    Dorm Life

There are no dorms available to live on campus. The commute is a short trip from Washington and not too far from surrounding towns.

    Academic Rigor

If you desire challenges and straight A's, this college will assist you with answering these challenges and offering additional goals and/or challenges to push you to your highest academic goals and beyond. You can not sit back and rest if you desire to obtain the most knowledge available in your curriculum.

    Tips for prospective students

Take advantage of all of the resources available at this college. Do not hesitate to ask for help. The staff wants you to ask and will do whatever is necessary to help you succeed in your classes and career goals.

    In three sentences

My College, Beaufort County Community College offers excellent tutoring through the Student Support Services if needed. There is the Academic Support Center which supports the student in whatever resource they need or can steer you in the right direction for answers to your question. The Learning Resource Center offers excellent research guidance along with answers to a variety of questions.

    Campus Safety

Campus police are very friendly and helpful. They are always seen walking throughout campus, and will make time to speak to those they pass. Within the first week I knew all their faces. They have an awesome emergency notification system in the event of an emergency on campus or closer of the school for any reason. I feel very safe and comfortable when I go to school knowing that such a wonderful team of people are part of campus security.

    What to do for fun

I did not attend much on campus other than going to class my first semester, my second semester was online. I saw many flyers and got emails about different events going on such as dances, festivals, appreciation breakfast for different groups, etc. I only saw them advertising the events, I did not attend so I can not say how good it was, just that they do them.

    Food and Dining

I do not eat in the cafeteria, but I do hit up the vending machines and I enjoy the different selections they have.

    Dorm Life

It is a community college and does not have dorms.

    Academic Rigor

Like many schools there are the classes that are laid back and a breeze to get through and then there are the classes that take the extra effort to get through.

    Tips for prospective students

My number one tip would be to definitely follow the guidelines set by campus police. I have watched many students get tickets over simply not having a parking pass. The only thing you would have to do early is register to make sure that you get the classes you need. You don't have to come extra early to get a good parking spot, the campus is small so it is not far of a walk no matter where you park. There also is no need to rush to the book store the first day of class, if you wait till after lunch there is no line to wait in. My main tip, that I have given out many times, is that college is what you make it.

    In three sentences

Campus is small, compared to other colleges in the area, but that makes everything accessible and parking not an issue. All the students and staff that I have come in contact with are very helpful and friendly. I am very happy that I choose Beaufort Community College over any other community college in the area.
