Great for these types of students

Performing arts and music business is what Belmont has always been known for. Many students who graduate get great jobs and are ready to work in the real world after being taught at such a great University. If you are into music and drama this would be a perfect pick. Otherwise, I know the nursing program is excellent and they are always looking for new applicants.

    Tips for prospective students

Make sure to look into you major and even ask for a tour or to meet with an advisor. They will be happy to help in any way. If you are looking for a smaller Christian school Belmont would be a great place to attend.

    Bang for the buck

Tuition is on the higher end. For a private Christian college it seems to me that it will definitely be worth the expense in the end.

    Will enjoy being here

It will be a huge change from UT, but after visiting and meeting many of the teachers, students, and employees I felt right at home. The environment is welcoming and there are so many great opportunities to take part in at Belmont. The transition will be hard, but I hoping for the best.

    Will learn a lot

The tour I was given at the Nursing building was phenomenal. My advisor was helpful in every way possible and fully capable of answering all my questions and concerns. At Belmont, the class sizes are smaller so the student feels comfortable and can have the one on one teacher time if needed. The nursing program is one of the very best in the state!

Belmont is perfect for all prospective students interested in Music (instrumental and vocal performance, musical theater, music education, and others), Music Business, Science, and Religion will enjoy and benefit from attending Belmont!

    Tips for prospective students

Take as many Advanced Placement courses and their tests to get those college credits, so that when you get to college, you will have a head start on you degree requirements! Also when you get to college, take your decision to go to college seriously; this is not the place to play around and party! The partying can wait! Get involved too! Being involved in different organizations on campus will yield so many opportunities and networks that will propel your growth as a student and an overall person!

    Bang for the buck

I wish that students could take 18 hours of classes without having to pay extra... Despite the expense, it is worth it- it is a quality education, and I am basing that off my first semester! I am learning so much about music that I could not fathom and gaining so much experience in my field of interest!

    Am enjoying being here

There is always something going on her on campus. During basketball season, there are so many chances to go show your school spirit and support for the student athletes! There are also a plethora of interesting convocation events scheduled throughout the year- from personal development events dealing with sex and religion to culture and arts events with African drum demonstrations to community service events that allow student to get involved with the community surrounding Belmont! I love Belmont! I have made some great connections within the few months that I have been here! With the large amount of music and music business majors, there are some many opportunities to start a professional career! I have already sang back-up for an artist here on campus for one of their performances. I have recently started working with this producer, and I have a recording session coming up! I am also involved with organizations that are helping me develop a wide array of skills! I do 60 hours of volunteer service every semester, and it is awesome! I also work with

    Am learning a lot

Coming from a public high school background makes Belmont a wealth of knowledge to me. Within the last few months, I have learned a lot- not only about academics but about life in general! Belmont has helped me become more organized and has presented me with several opportunities to do a lot of things that I have always wanted to do. Classes are small here so it is easy to pay attention in class, to develop relationships with professors and students, and to make the most of all of the different resources here on campus- from teachers who, for example, are professional artists, musicians, and businesspeople outside of teaching to the library with all its research materials and capabilities to the recording studios for students.

Great for these types of students

    One word... musicians.

    Tips for prospective students

Apply yourself and always be nice to whoever you meet. The more people you are friends with, the more connections you will have once you graduate.

    Bang for the buck

It costs a fortune to go to Belmont. If you can afford the price, then you definitely will get plenty in return. A great education, excellent professors, nice living areas, and you will be set up with internships so by the time you graduate, you can hit the ground running!

    Am enjoying being here

I personally love it here. It's probably because I'm a musician like everyone else.

    Am learning a lot

I'm not going to lie, the classes can be very challenging. However, in the end, you will learn a lot. If you want a solid, well-rounded degree, Belmont is the place for you!

Great for these types of students

Belmont definitely services itself to goal-oriented students. If you're looking for an academic challenge but a social life as well, Belmont does a very good job at helping you balance the two. Anyone interested in music will find a home here.

    Tips for prospective students

Try and visit the campus if you can as well as visit Belmont's studios on Music Row. Talk to current students and not just the ones giving tours. Belmont tends to put out an image of being much more conservative than they actually are. If you can find time to just hang out on campus, sit on the front lawn and listen to the many different guitars, voices, violins, saxophones, and many other instruments that are consistently being played. If you belong at this school, you'll be able to tell just by listening to what campus sounds like.

    Bang for the buck

Although Belmont is very expensive and can be slightly tight-handed when it comes to giving out money, it really is a wonderful school. Most everyone is nice and outgoing, the professors are wonderful, the campus is beautiful, and it's right outside downtown Nashville. While it's not a huge school, it's not a small one either, and any where you go you're bound to see people you know, although you're bound to meet new people as well. So much talent is accumulated at the school, you know that you're meeting people who will end up famous.

    Am enjoying being here

My time at Belmont has been wonderful thus far. The community is wonderful, particularly for those in music or music business. Belmont's campus seems to act as a mini version of the music industry as it's swarming with musicians, future producers, agents, managers, and recording engineers. Music can be heard consistently outside, especially during warmer weather, and the many gazebos that cover the front lawn were built acoustically for music.

    Am learning a lot

The professors at Belmont really make the difference. They take a personal interest in their students, engage you in deep conversation that appeals to you, and really push you to take advantage of all Belmont has to offer. You're expected to work hard but it's very rewarding and all the professors are extremely willing to help you. Beyond classes, Belmont serves as a great place to learn life lessons. Being a Christian University, the community is fairly safe; however, Belmont is more liberal than most people realize at first glance, and you are forced to learn to live independently and become an adult.

Great for these types of students

Belmont is great for students who want to achieve their absolute very best and want to grow beyond what people expect.

    Tips for prospective students

For those students who are considering Belmont University I would tell them to be prepared to do your best and to not be afraid to ask for help because the professors encourage questions and are always willing to answer them. I would also say be prepared to have fun because Belmont certainly has something for everyone to do and for them to enjoy.

    Bang for the buck

When you come to Belmont University, you are recieving everything that you paid for. A great education, a great social network, and not to mention a beautiful campus with a lot of resources to help you out in the real world.

    Am enjoying being here

I love being at Belmont because I made friends very quickly and am meeting new ones everyday. I am able to express myself and not be judged by those around me. Belmont has really allowed to become a better person and it has inspired to want to inspire others to be their best as well. I also love Belmont because there is never a shortage of things to do. Belmont has activities that every person can enjoy. The campus is beautiful and gives one a sense of peace whenever outside. I also love that even though Belmont is a religious-affiliated school, they allow you to grow in God your own way....whatever that may be. They don't force you to anything, they simply give you the resources to grow closer to God.

    Am learning a lot

Belmont is a great school if one wants to learn how to become the best person they can be. The professors push you to do your best and encourage you to not give up. You don't just learn academically, but socially as well. Belmont is committed to having students interact with each other by helping the community as one large group. This a great college if plan on doing something to change the world one day. You will learn and grow beyond what you may have previously thought. Belmont has also allowed me to grow closer to God, which is one of the main aspects of Belmont.

    Campus Safety

the campus is on watch 24-hours a day by the university security known as bepo (belmont police). there are few if any crimes on campus, the only real problem on campus is petty theft, so make sure not to leave anything unattended. that goes for any public place.

    Greek Life

greek life is not huge on campus, but it is steadily growing every year and rapidly. there are 4 panhellenic sororities (alpha gamma delta, phi mu, kappa alpha theta, alpha sigma theta) and 3 panhellenic fraternities (alpha tau omega, phi kappa tau, phi delta theta) on campus. there are two non-panhellenic sororities (sigma alpha iota, and delta sigma theta) and fraternities (phi beta sigma, phi mu alpha) each on campus as well.

    Clubs and Activities

there are literally hundreds of clubs organizations and activities on campus. it's really easy to get plugged in, because there will be student organization fairs.

Great for these types of students

great for people who have a great appreciation from the arts, regardless of your major. great for students who are highly self-motivated, love to learn and are curious about all aspect of life.

    What to do for fun

this school is in the heart of nashville. even if you don't have a car, it is a short (free) bus ride away from anywhere you would think of wanting to go to. in addition to that there are so many things to do on campus. there are always events going on in the residence halls, open mics, or the pembroke haunted house, speed dating and other cool things like that. there are more than 7 stages on campus for different performances, and a venue in one of the cafes for small music shows. there are often concerts on campus, as well as students performing everyday. in the beaman student life center, we have the largest indoor rock climbing wall of any university in the country, as well as top of the line gym and exercise classes such as zumba.

    Food and Dining

there is only one cafeteria on campus, however there are 5 other on campus food options where dining points can be used, and the food in all those places is delicious. there is always ice cream, cupcakes, chili, pizza, fries, burgers, salad, sandwiches and more everyday. sometimes the cafeteria will have fried chicken, and there are always made-to-order omelets for breakfast.

    Dorm Life

the dorms are larger than average and have really great facilities. the ras and rds of each residence hall (and the on campus apartment complexes) create a really great community within the living areas and really love to make your life easier.

    Academic Rigor

the classes at this school are definitely academically challenging, but it's not killer. the most important thing is to make sure you go to class, and do all the assigned work no matter how good or bad you may think you are at it. in any college, it's about how much work you put in to it.

    Tips for prospective students

make sure you come and visit the university! there is an awesome organization on campus that i'm a part of called bruin recruiters. it is our job to welcome you to the school as well as show and tell you everything you would ever want to know about it. in addition to that, it's always a good idea to get a feel for the environment you could potentially live in for yourself.

    In three sentences

belmont university an amazing private university with a faith centered community that caters to the needs of the students and has top tier programs in the college of visual and performing arts, massey school of business, and mike curb college of entertainment and music business. every program at this school is going to give you a very well rounded and hands-on education with real life applications, as well as the true college experience in every sense of the phrase. my personal favorite thing about the university is the community atmosphere and camaraderie between students.

Great for these types of students

This University is wonderful for a wide array of any students. Belmont's claim to fame is its Mike Curb College of Entertainment and Music Business. This program is the cream of the crop, with some of the most incredible professors in the nation teaching you the fundamentals of being a success in this Industry. Also, if you are into Nursing, Belmont has an excellent program, with state of the art technology and equipment that will blow your mind. And of course, if you are musically inclined, whether that be singing, performing, composing, writing, playing an instrument, or musical theater, the programs offered for those things are also indeed, some of the absolute best. Other excellent programs include Entrepreneurial Business, Ministry, and Journalism. This school is great for students are ready to face college head on with an attitude of participation and excitement. One needs to be ready to take advantage of the opportunities at hand, and have a world of fun!

    Tips for prospective students

Make it an absolute point to explore all of your scholarship options both inside and outside of Belmont's scholarship department (that is my advice to any student at any college). I would advise to explore the campus for all that it is worth. Research all of the majors that Belmont has to offer. If you are into Music Business, or the Entertainment Industry, this is absolutely the place to be. Also, get to know the faculty that are a part of whichever school within the University you will be studying under. Taking a close look at the dorms would be beneficial as well.

    Bang for the buck

This question is hard for me, since I had to transfer against my will because it was too much money for my family to afford. However, I believe that this University is at the top of its class, truly a one of a kind institution that can't be compared to any other place. There are countless opportunities alloted every single day. I believe that this school is worth the price, but of course, I wish it could be about $5,000-$10,000 cheaper.

    Did enjoy being here

It is impossible to express the absolute LOVE and PRIDE that I take in this University. The time spent there was the most special time I have ever experienced. The social aspect of Belmont is very welcoming. Every one is so pleasant, whether that be the faculty, cafeteria staff, or your fellow students. The campus is drop dead gorgeous, and the facilities are beautifully designed for a beautiful purpose. My experience at Belmont was one of enlightenment in the realm of the industry that I want to become a part of for my career, as well as an uplifting one because of the faculty, as well as the incredible people that also attended the school. It is difficult to find the words to describe the special camaraderie and support one feels at this University. Now that I have been forced to leave because of finances, I have dedicated all of my spare time to searching for a means to go back! In short, I adore Belmont, and hope to return as soon as possible!

    Did learn a lot

The faculty and staff at Belmont University were absolutely incredible. I loved each and every one of my professors, and was so thankful for their concern for me as well as my fellow students. They were always available to help me when I needed it, and were always on my team. You can tell the professors are very proud of what they do, and are proud of their students. They are passionate when it comes to our education, and I cannot say enough about the quality of education at this institution.

    Campus Safety

The campus security guards are all over campus 24/7, and it's a pretty safe campus. However, about two blocks east of Campus is a pretty sketchy neighborhood, so don't go running by yourself.

    Greek Life

I'm not a sorority girl by any means, and at first I was nervous I would be the only one, but I'm not! The sororities and fraternities at Belmont are a little tamer than at a big party school, and I have lots of friends in all of the sororities and fraternities, so they're not excluding to people who just aren't the Greek type.

    Clubs and Activities

There are countless opportunities to join a club on campus. I'm a part of the Belmont Rock Outing Club, Community Council, the Executive Leadership Program, Chamber Orchestra, Oratorio, Water Balloon Dodgeball, and Presbyterian Student Life.

Great for these types of students

Hipsters, Musicians, Artists, Academics, health nerds

Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus

Outside Wright and Maddox Halls, there's a stone and metal gazebo. If you stand in the middle and talk, you feel like you're inside a megaphone! There's also the Bell Tower, which is lit up with red lights at night, and in the daytime during winter, the organ professor plays Christmas music between the hours.

    Bang for the buck

It's expensive, but I have yet to meet someone who says it's not worth it.

    What to do for fun

Of course, there are always impromptu jam sessions and frisbee games on campus, but if you decide to step foot out into the real world, there are lots of great coffee shops (Bongo Java, Fido, Frothy Monkey), restaurants (SATCo, the Loveless Cafe, the Pfunky Griddle, Chuy's, Gigi's, Mafioaza's), shopping (Hillsboro Village, Green Hills, Cool Springs, Farmer's Market) and parks (Centennial, Bicentennial Mall, Warner Parks, Dragon Park). If you're bored, you're doing Belmont wrong.

    Food and Dining

Some people say they get sick from eating in the caf, but let's be honest; it doesn't matter where your thrice daily meals of fries and pizza come from, you're going to feel sick. A good rule to follow is that if you don't know what goes into it, don't eat it. The salad bar is always fresh and has great options. Also, if you don't eat gluten or meat or have some other dietary concern, there are lots of choices to make it easier to be healthy.

    Dorm Life

Even though the newer dorms are certainly nicer, the older dorms are the best place to be. Everyone bonds so quickly through the events hosted by Residence Life. I live in a dorm built in 1960, and all of the people who live in the new dorms come to hang out in our dorm because there's always something to do!

    Academic Rigor

As a music major, I haven't had much academic rigor, but as far as art goes, I definitely have had my plate full. I'm only in two academic classes this semester, but I'm in ten arts classes. I love it!

    Tips for prospective students

Definitely check out campus! I didn't seriously consider coming to Belmont until I fell in love with the professors, students, and the campus.

    In three sentences

It's like living in a bubble of happiness. Everyone and everything is aesthetically and personally beautiful, and everyone plays beautiful music. Also, it's hipster central.

    Bang for the buck

You definitely get your money's worth at Belmont. The college is a bit on the expensive side due to being a private university, but the education the professors provide is worth it. Especially if you are music business or audio engineering major. Probably the best thing about Belmont is the people you end up knowing when you leave the school.

    Am enjoying being here

Belmont is quite my style of school but it is a very enjoyable experience for everyone. The seminars, the music sessions, and the students all make Belmont a very enjoyable place to be.

    Am learning a lot

Belmont's professors are amazing. All the teachers are very skilled in the areas they teach and most of the classes are very student orientated. It isn't quite like a large college where the professors don't have time or can't quite get around to every student. The teachers at Belmont really strive to insure a great learning experience.

Great for these types of students

If you love music, have interest in music, want to pursue music, music business, audio engineering, production, art, we've got everything here but if you're not here for music, you'll want to enjoy music at the very least, I don't play any instruments at the current time but I do not feel odd being here.

    Tips for prospective students

Apply as early as you can! Take your SAT's at least twice and taking the ACT would not hurt either, also make sure your FAFSA is completed ASAP as well. Those things with help you get the most money from the school. A visit does not hurt, the campus is beautiful.

    Bang for the buck

I am not going to lie the school is expensive to attend however I feel like the connections you make here are worth the money paid. Some people are attending for far less than the sticker price. Have good grades in High School, did well on the SAT and ACT you'll probably get a decent ride here.

    Am enjoying being here

This school is just awesome there are so many things to do on campus as well as around and off campus. Music is everywhere here, turn the corner music, if you do not love or at least enjoy music I imagine it wouldn't be your favorite school. I love it though.

    Am learning a lot

I am learning a great deal of information and I feel like most of the work is not to bad. Reasonable assignments provided you have the nicer teachers. Some are very demanding but I feel like I have work to do but it is not that taxing on me.

    Tips for prospective students

For AET prospective students. The studio classes are good, dont expect to learn a ton in the way of live audio from classes. Make sure to make opportunities for yourself, the school doesnt just hand them to you. Its the only way to really learn.

    Am learning a lot

I enjoy the way some of the general education classes are taught. I am an Audio Engineering major and wanted to focus on live audio. Unfortunately the live audio classes are super basic and teach elementary concepts with no option to learn advanced live audio princples that are necessary for arena sized systems. Studio classes are great, and love the DAW class. One more note, After taking a lot of AP classes in high school, i feel that most classes at Belmont are easier than my AP classes, and possibly less work than AP classes in high school.

Great for these types of students

Obvious choice for aspiring music stars but not limited to the music scene. All types can fit in at Belmont. Just don't come expected parties every night and school-wide tailgate parties.

    Tips for prospective students

Take AP, Honors, and/or Duel Enrollment courses. They prepare you for the workload you experience in college. Don't be put off by Belmont being a music school. Belmont offers many top notch programs outside of Music Business like Nursing, Social Entrepreneurship, Business Administration, Religion, Journalism, and Pharmacy.

    Bang for the buck

The tuition is high and scholarships from Belmont aren't freely given but the experience and knowledge you gain from attending Belmont is well worth the cost. All majors allow you a chance to get a taste of your classes well before most colleges.

    Am enjoying being here

The atmosphere of the campus is just fantastic. Beautiful landscaping and buildings combined with friendly students and staff make the place enjoyable. While being surrounded by a big city, Belmont is able to offer the small town vibe just with added conveniences of numerous coffee shops within walking distance.

    Am learning a lot

The classes at Belmont do not allow you to just coast by with minimal attention. Even the very basic general education courses require more time in and out of class. For me, the classes aren't' any worse than the AP classes I took in high school. The best part about the academics is the faculty. Every professor knows your name and tries to help you. The one on one attention provided makes the difficult courses much easier to handle.

    Campus Safety

The BePo Belmont Police ensure the safety of the campus. They're always around to make sure there's nothing dangerous going on, but they're also really cool to talk to in person. They really are there for the students.

    Greek Life

Although I am not involved in Greek Life, my roommates all are. Belmont has a strong Greek system. They hold eight different sororities and fraternities. All of which get to participate in Greek Week come March

    Clubs and Activities

There are honestly too many to name. For more information http://www.belmont.edu/organizations/list/index.html is a good place to check out! Plus there's more than that.

Great for these types of students

Belmont University is a great place for aspiring musicians and managers, or anyone looking to go into the entertainment industry. They offer a wonderful theater program, and an excellent music program. There are also a great number of nursing majors on campus, who claim the program is worth it. Also, Belmont is hipster central.

Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus

We have an underground tunnel that has never been explored completely. It goes down from the 1800s, but just stops.

    Bang for the buck

Belmont is expensive, but, to me, it's worth it. I love the oppurtunity Belmont presents and the relationships I've made with the students. The sense of community you get from being a student at Belmont University is unparalleled to any other.

    What to do for fun

Nashville is the place for music and fun. There's a lot of activities on campus, such as a fraternity or sorority. There are seminars and concerts given at discount prices --like Sara Bareilles and Jake Owen. There's always something free to do, whether it's on campus or off, and there's a village within walking distance where there's always restaurants and stores as well.

    Food and Dining

The dining staff at Belmont is excellent! There's Ms. Tonya who will greet you with a smile on her face and a good morning, baby all the time. They are very friendly and accommodating to all needs. The food is also delicious. They offer a wide selection in the cafeteria, and there are Bruin Bucks which can be used at places like Quiznos and Lo Mein.

    Dorm Life

Belmont has 'visitation hours', which mean the opposite sex can't be in your room from 1am-10am. Although these seem like a hassle, they actually are not that bad. This helps you to focus on your studies and keeps you out of sticky or troublesome situations.

    Academic Rigor

Belmont University's academic rigor is above average. While any college course will make you work, Belmont will expand upon your knowledge. Everything you learn in class, you will take with you in life. Also, the relationships you get to develop with your professors (many of whom are famous for what they do and have done) are integral in your future career.

    Tips for prospective students

Do some research on your prospective major and the university. While I love Belmont and Nashville, sometimes it is not for everyone. Belmont is a Christian University; however, they are very accepting of all religions and backgrounds.

    In three sentences

Belmont University is where you come to find yourself. The relationships and the connections you find at Belmont are key to your future. Not only is this University extremely unique in that it specializes in YOUR are, but also it allows you to broaden your horizons as to what you want to learn.

    Food and Dining

There are many places to eat on campus and around campus. The prices are reasonable and eat place is a relaxing environment to chill with friends or to complete class assignments

    Dorm Life

I am a commuter student so I do not know what the dorm life is like at Belmont University.

Strive to do your very best during high school, both academically and with extra curricular activities. Graduating on top definitely has its advantages and it will make your college experience an easier and memorable one

    In three sentences

I receive an amazing education at Belmont University. I get what I pay for and the faculty really cares about the success of their students. It is a competitive school but very enjoyable to go to class every day

Great for these types of students

Musicians, Music Business Majors, Music Lovers, Students with a wide range of interests (Belmont's non-music programs are relatively strong too if a student decides to change majors).

    Tips for prospective students

Come take a tour of the campus if you can, and be sure to ask students what they think of specific aspects of the university. Most are more than willing to answer questions, and will give you pretty honest feedback about any concerns you might have. If you are a musician, it may be worth taking individual lessons from a few of the professors on campus, so you have an idea of who you may want to study with your freshman year. Also, look into what Nashville as a city may have to offer you, regardless of your potential career path.

    Bang for the buck

Belmont is kind of expensive...though the education is good, classes are well sized, professors are great, university resources are more than adequate and the campus is gorgeous, tuition can still look pretty pricey. If you're interested in music business, performing as a musician in the current industry, nursing, or just have a general love for music (whether it's your major or not), it's totally worth it. If not, it may be worth considering other schools.

    Am enjoying being here

Belmont is a very fun environment - especially if you are a music-lover. The school itself has lots of events catered toward music, but the university also brings in speakers for other subjects on a regular basis. Students are for the most part very friendly and welcoming. Dorm life (depending on where you're living) certainly has its pros and cons, but on the whole is a pretty good time. In addition to what the school offers, Nashville as a city has a lot to offer college students as well. Restaurants of various types and downtown Nashville are both in reasonable walking distance and provide great food and entertainment for students. On the whole, I really love being at Belmont just as much as I love being in Nashville. The two combined create an amazing experience!

    Am learning a lot

Though there are certainly some general courses that are required and perhaps less interesting, I still find that the professors are great and have something worth teaching me. Even if the subject matter itself is less challenging, the professors are well qualified and always have some beyond information to share. Music Classes are very thorough and full of useful applicable information. I started out as a Music Business major, and learned quite a bit in that realm, but being a Psychology major with a Spanish minor now, I'm finding that I'm still acquiring lots of applicable knowledge!

Great for these types of students

If you are someone who lives and breathes music with a passion so great you can't describe it, Belmont is the place for you. But even my friends here who are non music majors absolutely love it. Even though Belmont is considered by most to be overwhelmingly a music school, there is more to it than just the School of Music. Belmont is an incredible experience for all, and has been so far the greatest experience of my life.

    Tips for prospective students

Visit every school you apply to and consider. I applied to 8 schools and was dead set on attending one most of junior and senior year; Belmont wasn't even an option in my mind. Ultimately, it came down to my top school and Belmont; visiting Belmont immediately made the decision for me. Between the friendly demeanor of students and locals alike, personal community throughout the entire school, breathtakingly beautiful campus, ample opportunities for personal and professional relationships to flourish, and infinite connections you'll make while here, it's hard to say no to Belmont once you've seen it.

    Bang for the buck

Most of my classes are worth what I pay for; however, there are always a few duds that are upsetting. Belmont is etremely expensive for me and returning is tentative. But it is definitely worth the cost. Professors here are some of the most incredible people you'll ever meet. I'm a long way from home and without a car, and it was amazing to me that two of them went out of their way to invite me to their homes for Thanksgiving once they found out I was staying at school for the break. Not only do they know you by name because of intimate class sizes, but they legitimately care about you, your progress in their class, and your overall well-being. It is inevitible that you will have professors at Belmont who become your family, and their wisdom, experience, and advice is of invaluable worth.

    Am enjoying being here

Being at Belmont is like something out of a dream. The first month I was here, I kept thinking I was suddenly transported into Raise Your Voice, or some other similar movie. Music is everything to me and Belmont is a dream come true every single day.

    Am learning a lot

As a music major, I'm taking an average of 12 classes a semester. Obviously, professors, programs, and teaching methods impact learning in huge ways, but a large portion is also your attitude. Often, you get out what you put in. Apply yourself, and you learn more than you thought you could.

Most of time the answer to the question, What's your major? at Belmont will be Music Business or some form of music-related major. So, there is an abundance of music lovers on campus. Most Belmont students are easy going and don't mind if you sing to yourself while your walking to class. Speaking from experience, the science department is excellent. Religion and nursing are two other widely sought after majors on campus. I think anyone would feel welcome at Belmont University.

    Tips for prospective students

Scholarships and grants are very important. Belmont University offers some scholarships based on merit in high school. Take a walk around the campus and get to know every building, because chances are you'll need to know where everything is in the future. Get involved in clubs and organizations like Greek life, Towering Traditions, and Bruin Recruiters. They are so much fun, you will meet a lot of great people, and it looks great on your resume.

    Bang for the buck

Belmont is a private college and, therefore, is rather expensive. However, I think it is worth every penny. Again, the opportunities Belmont provides its students are phenomenal and the resources on campus are great. The only problem I have is that I have to be wary of my credit hours per semester, because of the extra cost. Summer courses at Belmont are also rather expensive.

    Am enjoying being here

Belmont has an absolutely beautiful campus. On good days everyone is outside making music, studying, or playing Frisbee. There are plenty of resources available to all students such as the library, computer labs, and science labs. The library just recently began staying open 24 hours a day. I love being in the clubs and organizations on campus. I have met some great people and had some great experiences. The Belmont faculty and staff are all really great people and are there to help you with anything. I also think that the campus being located in such a great part of Nashville really adds to the experience.

    Am learning a lot

Being at Belmont has really opened my eyes to the world. There is such a great emphasis on critical thinking and problem solving in all courses. There are so many great opportunities for hands-on and experiential learning through courses and organizations. There are business students creating their own businesses on campus, students in the sciences developing their own research projects, and musicians performing in their own concerts. I have definitely learned so much in only two years, but I have learned even more about myself through my experiences at Belmont University.

Musical. If you love playing, singing, making, or listening to music. This will be your paradise. You'll find friends the first week and participate in multiple jam sessions a week with several different people.

    Tips for prospective students

Cafeteria food is terrible, but I've heard it has gotten better. Prepare yourself for a dry and cigarette free campus.

    Bang for the buck

The degree from Belmont is worth the cost.

    Am enjoying being here

The people make the school worth it. The school board doesn't completely care about current students. It is tough to get your voice heard for them to change their policies. The teachers are fun and completely care about their students. They will know if you miss class and are understanding. Music is all over campus, which is amazing.

    Am learning a lot

The classes are challenging, but the teachers and students are extremely helpful. Classes are incredibly small so teachers have the time for one-on-on attention. Some classes are a joke, but most are challenging and you will leave with a lot of information.

Great for students who want that big city feel, the culture is not just surrounded around country music, there are lots of other things to discover around Nashville.

    Tips for prospective students

Visit visit visit! I was unsure until I visited the campus, I fell in love.

    Bang for the buck

I guess it depends on your major. For the general ones, I suppose there are cheaper colleges to fit your needs. But for the degree in Music Business, you won't find a better college all around.

    Will enjoy being here

The campus is beautiful and historic, the people practice southern hospitality and Nashville is a fantastic city to live in. It is strongly influenced not only by football and hockey, but also music and art.

    Will learn a lot

There is so much to learn here, ranging from a new law school, a nursing school and even the Mike Curb College.

Great for these types of students

Students who are self-motivated, passionate, dedicated, and creative are welcome and would fit perfectly at Belmont. Students who are also looking for a small school in a big city would love Belmont.

    Tips for prospective students

Much dedication is expected as a student in academics, student life, and community life. Students are expected to be involved at Belmont and in the Nashville community. Through this involvement, students will be able to make connections with other students, prospective employers and leaders in a given profession, and with the faculty.

    Bang for the buck

Belmont is a moderately priced school compared to many universities like it across the United States. However, students interested need to search for scholarships, grants, and loans because Belmont will not offer much help or the resources, especially if a student is transferring to Belmont.

    Am enjoying being here

Belmont also encourages student participation in clubs, causes, community, Greek life, and all aspects of student life. Belmont wants students to find a passion, follow it, and find how it relates to others on campus. Students are also encouraged to serve others. Be it students, the Nashville community, or a child in Ghana, Belmont expects students to be compassionate.

    Am learning a lot

Belmont University is about hard work, passion, compassion, dedication, and connection. There is a lot to learn in all of the classes offered, but where much is given, much is expected. The work load is rigorous, but doable if time is managed wisely.

Great for students who are looking for a small community within a city bursting with activity. I like the fact that it only takes 3 minutes to walk to class, yet I can go off campus and enjoy events like the CMAs.

    Tips for prospective students

Make sure when you visit you meet with an advisor, and talk about your prospective major and what you would need to get done. Also, stop by the cafeteria and make sure the food is to your liking.

    Bang for the buck

Being a freshman, I am not fully prepared to answer this question. But from the experience I've had so far, I would definitely pick Belmont again if I had to do it over.

    Am enjoying being here

Yes! I love the professors, and the size of the school is great. There are many opportunities to get involved in a fun way on campus, including greek life, student government, and even intramural quidditch.

    Am learning a lot

I have learned so much in my first semester here. The classes go beyond regular curriculum. There is a requirement program called convocations, which you attend on your own time. They are usually 1 hour each, and are on varied and interesting topics.

Belmont is a pricy university but you are paying for your education. Classes are small and the teachers are top notch. There are plenty of resources to help you become not only a better student, but a better person as well.

    Am enjoying being here

The campus environment is great. Freshman dorms are centralized right in the heart of campus so it's nice to be in close distance to everything. There is always something to do and the people here are great. Everyone here is extremely friendly and welcoming. The more you get involved, the more you will enjoy the school. People at Belmont care not only you as a student, but you as a person, as well.

    Am learning a lot

This school has phenomenal professors that actually care about your education. Class sizes are small, making the learning experience more intimate and hands on. Help is always offered and I am never afraid to ask questions. Professors really try to help you understand if you don't get the material.

Music Students (Big Music School) Motivated Students: If you want to learn, there are some good programs here and a motivated faculty that will teach as much as you want to learn. Business Students: Belmont ranks in the Top 100 business schools in Business Weekly (My Macroeconomics class was really good) Students that like to get involved: We've got Greeklife, the M.O.B., Intramurals, several subject based clubs, A top notch Basketball team and as well as 14 other sports teams, Orientation Council, Executive Leadership Program, Towering Traditions Leaders, Student Life Assistants, Student Government, Student Activities and Programs Board, and the list goes on and on.

    Tips for prospective students

Apply early/On Time I understand that the senior year is stressful, but I cannot stress enough how important it is to make deadlines for applications and scholarships! Visit Campus: Cliche, but very important. I was able to eliminate some colleges just by visiting. Declare a major, if you can There are some scholarships that are given out to students of a certain major. Undeclared students are not considered for these (I am at Belmont because I got the Pathways to Science Scholarship for being a Mathematics Major!)

    Bang for the buck

Let's face it, this university is expensive. As are all universities. It's hard to give this 5 stars when I have to go into debt to go here, but it is my classes, the supporting faculty, advisors, student organizations, and the atmosphere here at Belmont have definitely been worth the expense.

    Am enjoying being here

I love it here! There are plenty of organizations to get involved in and even if none of those fit, then there are plenty of organizations in Nashville that can fit anybody's needs.

    Am learning a lot

Every single class challenged me to perform my best. As with any college though, won will only learn for as much effort you put into a class, but I will definitely say that my professors went above and beyond to teach us the content.

    Campus Safety

Most student feel very safe on campus. There are emergency phones all over campus, and some of the housing is even fenced in. Security is on the clock 24-7 and if a student feels unsafe at any time, he is encouraged to call the security office, and they are more than happy to escort you to your destination.

    Greek Life

Greek life is not like it is in state universities. There are no houses, there is no taxing.. Greek life provides students with activites and community service opportunities to help the community and to better relationships with each other.

    Clubs and Activities

Dorms provide activites as well as the athletic department. Our gym provides activities such as intermurals and rumba and yoga classes. Service core offers amazing opportunities for students to work events like the CMAs as well as other big entertainment events.

Great for these types of students

If you are looking into the music industry for a career, belmont is the perfect place for you. Nashville holds the CMA awards and Belmont students are often a part of working that event as well as many entertainment related events in places like Los Angeles, California, and even events taking place in other countries through a program called service core.

Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus

Unlike most universities, Belmont is very active in popular music. Its commercial voice students as well as any other students are welcome to participate in showcases, which are completely student produced. Showcases are like big concerts that students audition to be featured in. It is very competitive.

    Bang for the buck

Belmont is more expensive than most universities around the country, however it is definitely worth your money if you are serious about what you want to do. Belmont University has a very good name and looks very good on your job application. It also gives you so many amazing opportunities that other colleges and universities are not able to give you.

    What to do for fun

Belmont University offers many opportunities to play sports even if you are not on Belmont's official team. There are intramurals that average students can participate in as well as things like greek life. Also, Belmont's location is right in the middle of music city, Nashville Tennessee, so there are plenty of opportunities to explore off campus.

    Food and Dining

Belmont university has one cafeteria, which is full of southern cooking buffet style. There are also other places on campus that food is available. The curb cafe has more of a food court feel, and there are also snack and sandwich shops around campus as well.

    Dorm Life

My experiences in dorm life were very positive. There are more rules about visitation of the opposite school given that it is a christian private school, but they are fair and are for the best interest of the students. Each dorm also have activities that students are welcome to participate in throughout the year, this brings students closer together within their dorms.

    Academic Rigor

The academic side of Belmont University is very challenging. It definitely lived up to my expectations, and lives up to its name as one of the top 10 schools in the south.

    Tips for prospective students

Be sure of what you want to major in before you invest in a scholarship at a private school. It is so expensive.

    What to do for fun

now this is something i can talk about, even as a prospective student. at belmont, you're in the heart of music city, minutes from nashville's parthenon, a great open space, downtown nashville with shops, restaurants, and music venues, music row, and, if you want to go a little further, music valley, i believe they call it, with a great mall among other things.

    Food and Dining

i've heard at least decent things about the on-campus dining, having had some at on-campus prospective days it was pretty good, but the campus also has a few fast food restaurants and it's very close to many other restaurants of all sorts.

    Dorm Life

once again, i can't accurately quantify this topic as i'm still a prospective student, but in researching housing, they seem well equipped.

    Academic Rigor

as i'm not yet a student at belmont, i wouldn't know how rigorous the academics are, but from my conversations with professors, i don't think they would be lax or uninteresting.

    Tips for prospective students

visit the campus when you get the opportunity, especially for preview days or 'academic options day', they really put a lot of effort into their prospective students and it gives a great feel for the campus and the university as a whole.

    In three sentences

a creative atmosphere and, from what i can tell, a very christian environment. a small town in a big city as its president likes to call it, belmont seems to be a great community within the vibrant metropolis of nashville. by all accounts, a friendly and inviting place to spend the next 4 years of my academic career.

    Campus Safety

the campus is very safe. it is small, well lit, and in a great neighborhood. they have a system where they will text their students if there is bad weather or an intruder on campus.

    Greek Life

the greek life program is unique. they do not live in their own houses like most colleges. the students raise money and help important charities which is the whole reason to be a part of the greek life.

    Clubs and Activities

there are many clubs and activities that many people are involved in. there seems to be a club for almost everything. every student can find some kind of club that will suit them.

Great for these types of students

belmont is great for people like me because i love music and entertainment. they have an amazing music and arts program which gives students the opportunity to get a great deal of experience, especially since it is in music city itself.

    Bang for the buck

although belmont is very expensive it is worth the cost. receiving experience in your field is the most important thing because you are actually going out and learning all that you need to learn. the food is healthy and tastes wonderful, there are many activities to take part in, the dorms are very clean and spacious, the school is in a safe environment where you can feel confident to walk around without being scared. most importantly the students get a high quality education.

    What to do for fun

you will never be bored if you attend belmont, there is always something fun to do. there are music and art shows almost every weekend and there is always live music going on someplace around campus. if you are not into music there are also clubs and sporting events you may attend.

    Food and Dining

the campus has three different places where they can dine all of which are very healthy and delicious. they also have points that you may use at other restaurants around nashville.

    Dorm Life

the dorm life is strict but fair. the students have a curfew of 11:00 pm or weekdays and 1:00 am on weekends. the opposite sex has to sign in at the front desk to go to the other persons room. this system is very safe and allows the students to get their school work done but also have a good time at school.

    Academic Rigor

the students at belmont are expected to do their best and recieve the highest grades they can. the teachers at belmont are very educated and will do their best to help the student be the best student they can.

    In three sentences

    Campus Safety

As long as you are on campus at night, I think you can feel relatively safe. I would not necessarily stray far from it by foot after dark though. But that can be said about a lot of places. There's not too much to worry about here!

    Greek Life

I am not involved in it myself but it would appear to me that people definitely enjoy it and there is a lot going on with Greek life. I have heard nothing but good things about them.

    Clubs and Activities

There are a ton of groups focused on getting you involved with the music industry. We have a solid Greek life, great athletics, and overall I think everyone can find something that they can become a part of here.

Great for these types of students

If you love music, this is the place for you! Everyone, even if they aren't majoring in it, seems to love music and loves to share and talk about it.

Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus

Again, the parking garage! We had a concert up there once and it was a blast. The view allows you to see all over the city and its beautiful.

    Bang for the buck

It is very expense, but the experience is worth every dollar. Eventually, through everything you learn here, and with Belmont helping you get connected, your degree and the cost of it will definitely pay off.

    What to do for fun

We go to downtown Nashville a lot, check out some local acts, walk around the neighborhood, and occasionally go out and find a great sunset. The views from the campus parking garage are amazing.

    Food and Dining

I can't say it is always the best, but I have had significantly worse. I enjoy cooking, so I don't spend a ton of time in the cafeteria or our Curb cafe.

    Dorm Life

Being a dry campus, a lot of us spent weekend evenings hanging out together on our floor, or on campus finding other fun things to do. We had great camaraderie, and I have been able to sustain those early friendships that I made there.

    Academic Rigor

The curriculum can become very tough at times, but I can promise you that I have always found it beneficial. I feel as though I am actually learning, and not just completing difficult assignments.

    Tips for prospective students

You don't always have to come with an entirely specific plan. I think it is important to come hungry, but willing to try new things. Belmont has opened my eyes to a lot of new possibilities, and I'm thankful that I didn't have my blinders on, or else I wouldn't have noticed them!

    In three sentences

Belmont is full of a ton of students who are very driven but also know how to have a good time. A lot of people who attend here come with big dreams, more so than at any other school I have attended in the past. The University does a wonderful job of keeping individuals motivated, encouraged, and helps them get connected with their goals.

    Campus Safety

BePo (Belmont Police) does a decent job. I never feel unsafe, but it does not mean that you can be stupid about your belongings. I lock my door, my bike, and my laptop in the library when I go to the bathroom, but this is common sense for living in a city.

    Greek Life

It exists, but it is not a central part of campus social life. Greek life exists for those who wish to participate in it, but it is not necessary to be involved to have a social life. It has grown in the last few years.

    Clubs and Activities

A person has to make an effort to get connected to clubs and activities, but the return is reflective of the input!

Great for these types of students

For people who love music (whether they want to work in it or not) it's a campus bursting with music and people who love it. It is also a great birthing ground for any kind of creative types. There is an emphasis on entrepreneurial DIY endeavors that is unique and part of the vibrance of campus. Also, it is great for hipsters.

Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus

There's a lot of random gazebos. The Belmont Mansion is definitely a sight, as well as the Bird Cage (which has cool acoustics if you want to have some fun). While unattached to main campus, the historic RCA Studio B on music row is definitely a Belmont gem.

    Bang for the buck

Belmont is expensive, and its prices continue to rise. My education is valuable to me, and I know that I would not be able to receive what I get from Belmont anywhere else for the same price, but I am in a specialized field (Music Business). I realize though that my starting career salaries would not be enough to pay back loans if I were paying for college out of my own pocket.

    What to do for fun

Nashville has so much cheap, good, live music. Whatever type you enjoy, go out and listen! In the Fall, Musician's corner every Saturday at Centennial Park and Thursday nights Live on the Green in the square downtown are free live music. Dinner downtown, line dancing, and the Shelby Street Pedestrian bridge are also great things to do for a night downtown (Honky Tonks on Broadway are only great if you love country music and are 21+). If you enjoy art, the Frist has a night free for college students every week!

    Food and Dining

There are options, but it is hard to stay healthy and find good food. The Caf continues to improve, but I wouldn't eat there if I didn't have to. Other food options are relatively slim, but I would recommend the Chick-fil-a sandwiches at the Corner Court, and Bruin Ground's!

    Dorm Life

Freshman and sophomores have to live on campus. There are a lot of issues with adequate housing due to the rapid expansion of campus. Depending on the dorm, your community/res life will vary. Most students don't necessarily connect through their dorms but other groups and clubs.

    Academic Rigor

My classes are not so easy that I learn nothing, but they are not so difficult that I do not have time to live my life and enjoy real life opportunities as a music business student. For nursing or other science related majors, it is much more rigorous. There are opportunities, like the Honors College or BURS, for students that really want to challenge themselves.

    Tips for prospective students

Get the smaller meal plan and bring a car if you can. Get involved! Whether it be a church, small group, band, club, or intramural sport, it really is the way to find a community.

    In three sentences

Belmont is a not too large not too small ecumenical Christian college with great programs for in nursing, music performance, and music business. It is a great community for learning, exploring, and thinking, but it is not for everyone. Nashville is a wonderful backdrop for those interested in medicine or music business.

    Campus Safety

Belmont security has their own squad cars and officers who patrol and keep watch around and by campus. Little theft occurs, but it happens so hold on to your stuff.

    Greek Life

There are several Fraternities and several Sororities as well. They make up a pretty big part of the student life, by organizing events of their own and also events for those not in an organization.

    Clubs and Activities

Lots of ways to get involved. Clubs that you can work concerts, set them up, run sound at the Curb cafe. Also science clubs or speech clubs, intramural sports.

Great for these types of students

Musicians, creative types, hipsters, Christians, interested in medicine, southerners.

Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus

The Pembroke guys from that dorm always have strange ceremonies going on, but around Halloween people dress up for class, or we have pre-basketball game hoedowns, either way there's always something crazy going on. There are always musicians practicing or showing off thir skills on campus too.

    Bang for the buck

The music program, whether it be performance or audio engineering technology is stellar. Belmont is among the top music schools in the country as far as their program ranks and with the music industry so close it is not uncommon for Belmont music majors to find major job opportunities in the field around town. Come here if you play.

    What to do for fun

Music, music, music. There's a lot of shows around town, many of which may be Belmont student bands. Also there's a big quad for frisbee, soccer, etc. Bongo Java, a pretty cool coffee shop, lies right across the street as another sweet hangout spot too. In Nashville, there is no shortage of entertainment.

    Food and Dining

Cafeteria food here is not the greatest, but there are a couple other options on campus like the Curb Cafe or Corner Court, but the meal plan is required for freshman so you just have to tough it out.

    Dorm Life

Dorm life is dorm life. It's pretty similar to most colleges. Belmont has a couple new, nicer dorms, but visitation and practice hour rules apply to all so be careful about that.

    Academic Rigor

It can be as hard or as easy as you make it. Belmont has some very challenging courses, some of which you must take for GND credits. If you ever need assistance in specific subjects however the departments like math have tutors to help answer questions.

    Tips for prospective students

Come prepared and ready to learn. Make sure you understand the University policies and how the school works. Belmont is very good about welcoming and accepting new students so don't be afraid to ask questions.

    In three sentences

Belmont University is a highly established force in the Nashville community not only just in the category of Universities, but also in the surrounding music industry. If you wish to succeed with a strong attitude and determination, Belmont's arsenal of professors and curriculum help you down that road. Whether you are here for music, nursing, or even math, Belmont can open doors and make dreams become reality.

    What to do for fun

I usually participated in dorm life or campus activities. There are also music concerts, downtown is close, and there are always sports games to go to.

    Food and Dining

Dining times are slightly inconvenient sometimes. Also the different types of meal money make it harder to eat if you have a schedule that differs from a lot of other people's schedules.

    Dorm Life

There are so many ways to get involved with your dorm if you just participate. You have to leave your room to do it though :).

    Academic Rigor

I've heard that the gap between honors and general education is a wide one and not many students feel challenged in general education.

    Tips for prospective students

Do not assume that Belmont will help you afford school. Belmont is strict on a social level. Try honors. Its worth it.

    In three sentences

Belmont is very geographically diverse. Their financial aid side lacks in the area of helping to make sure that Belmont is affordable to everyone. Belmont prepares you for the real world academically but not socially.

    Campus Safety

There is also a security man around, and everyone s supplied with emergency numbers.

    Greek Life

Greek life is like no other university. Belmont's fraternities and sororities have a different reputation, an really uphold the values of the University.

    Clubs and Activities

Belmont provides all kinds of clubs and activities you can choose from. Anything from a rock climbing club to greek life.

Great for these types of students

If you love the thought of a smaller school, want to go into nursing, love music, or are christian. This is the place for you.

Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus

We have many traditions like, the battle of the blvd, which is a rival basketball game. We also have convocations, which are lectures that students are made to go to during their college career.

    Bang for the buck

Belmont is definitely a great school, but I don't believe any school should cost that much. I think that turns a lot of people away.

    What to do for fun

Nashville is an awesome place to be! There are all sorts of cute shops, parks, restaurants, etc. You can't ever be bored!

    Food and Dining

The food could be better. There aren't many options, which leaves many students upset.

    Dorm Life

Some of the Dorms are brand new. They are the nicest dorms I have seen yet.

    Academic Rigor

I am in the Nursing Program and find that it is very challenging, but in a good way. The professors are there to help you, and I felt like I really grew academically.

    Tips for prospective students

Have an open mind about college. So many believe that it is like high school, but it is not. Be willing to grow and meet new people.

    In three sentences

Belmont provides a great Christian atmosphere. The size of the school makes it possible to create relationships with other students. Belmont values community and service, which was very important to me..

    What to do for fun

Get involved!!!! The most fun happens to the most involved on campus. There is always a cookout, club event, and crazy amazing things happening.

    Food and Dining

Our food is great, and what you make it. I remember at first thinking o.mg this is not my mothers cooking...then some girl came and set down next to me with the most delicious and largest salad I've ever seen. From that point on, i have never looked at the food the same. And the people serving you are even better than the food. They are the sweetest people I've ever met.

    Dorm Life

The dorms are the best part of this school! I have never connected with people like this before. My first year in the dorms I started the Lobsters and it was probably the best thing i could have done, because i built a group of friends that I know will always be there!

    Academic Rigor

It is definitely going to challenge you. The professors are not going to baby you by any means, and you may not believe me now, but it is a good thing. The classes are a true preparation for the life ahead. You will leave the class beat up at first, but you will soon learn to fight back, and realize it is all so worth it.

    Tips for prospective students

Be yourself, and find your niche. Don't be afraid if you don't fit in right away, that is just a testament to your uniqueness. Be prepared to get to work, but enjoy the lifestyle of this awesome campus.

    In three sentences

This school is simply AMAZING! Don't let the price turn you away. You get every pennies worth I assure you!

    Campus Safety

Campus safety is Belmont's #1 priority. There is always security on campus and easily accesible to us students. You'll always feel very safe here!

    Clubs and Activities

There are a variety of clubs and organizations to join at Belmont. From Greek life, to PRSSA, to other fun clubs. It's hard to decide what to join with so many options.

Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus

Battle of the Boulevard is a basketball game that Belmont has with Lipscomb University. It's always fun and entertaining. Go Bruins!

    What to do for fun

It's Nashville! You have honky tonks, museums, Cheekwood Botanical Gardens, Bellemeade Plantation, Belmont and Vanderbilt gmaes, and tons of marathons to choose from. You'll never be bored and will always have a selection of fun things to choose from.

    Food and Dining

Belmont's dining hall has a diverse selection of many foods and restaurants. From sushi, to coffee shops, to Mexican, Subway, Greek, Chinese all just walking distance from the dorms. also the cafeteria has a great selection of healthy, vegan, and vegetarian foods to choose from.

    Dorm Life

I live off campus but have many courses with students who live on campus. They have nothing but good things to say Dorm Life. I will say that its a beautiful campus with nice dorms. They are actually building 2 more dorm halls.

    Academic Rigor

Many of the professors here want you to succeed, They push you to certain limits just to show you that you can do anything as long as you set your mind to it. The advisors are also very helpful when it comes t registering for classes and answering questions.

    Tips for prospective students

Apply for all scholarships, grants, FinAid because it really goes a long way in cutting down the cost. Pick your classes wisely because choosing a course that will not benefit you will end up costing you out of pocket expenses plus will waste time in you finishing college. Not to say that you will not learn from the course but try and stick to your recommended courses.

    In three sentences

I'm very satisfied with the relationships that I have built with my professors and with my advisors. Both my advisors as well as my professors are very helpful when/if I have a question/concern regarding registering, classfinder, or an assignment that is due. I've been at Belmont University for a little over 2 years and I would highly recommend this institution to anyone who asked.

    Campus Safety

Campus is very, very safe. The security services are extraordinary, they will escort you if you need it. I have never ever felt unsafe on campus.

Great for these types of students

Students who are interested in challenging, hands on learning and prefer a safe, family-like environment to a traditional party school. Drinking and drugs are not allowed on campus.

Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus

Belmont Tower, overlooking Nashville, contains a unique instrument that one can take classes to learn. If one becomes proficient, he or she will receive a key to the tower to play anytime.

    Bang for the buck

Belmont offers a great, hands on education with an ivy-league feel and beautiful safe campus but for a reasonable price. Their financial aid programs help as well.

    What to do for fun

Belmont hosts a lot of activities and seminars. Locally, Nashville offers a lot of entertainment from cultural activities to musical entertainment and comedy. There is a local waterpark and many museums.

    Food and Dining

Food is good but can be repetitive as there are not that many options. Dining halls are clean and nearly all new. There are a lot of options off campus that are good as well.

    Dorm Life

I chose to commute and have not had any experience with dorm life. All students that I know that have lived on campus have enjoyed it. Dorms are conveniently located, clean, and safe. There are several new dorms as well.

    Academic Rigor

Classes are challenging but not unreasonably difficult. I enjoy the challenge and find that it helps me learn. I haven't had any experience with teachers that use grade ceilings or biases in grading.

    Tips for prospective students

Apply early both with your application and for financial aid. If you have the opportunity, visit campus and come in in person if you have any issues that you need to sort out. Call if you need help, just be sure to be proactive and do not wait if you need help.

    In three sentences

Belmont is different than any school that I have ever looked at (and I've looked at quite a few schools, in person and in research). The community is open and tight-knit at the same time. All of the programs are really hands on and help students to learn in ways that most schools have not even thought about.

I've never felt unsafe on campus. It's small and the campus security is everywhere.

    Greek Life

Great for these types of students

Christians, hipsters, and people interested in the music and entertainment industry.

Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus

The bell-tower is big focal point on campus. The tower dings on the hour every day.

    Bang for the buck

Belmont is very expensive for a school that gives so little back to its students.

    What to do for fun

Greek life is active on Belmont's campus. You can get involved with that or other various clubs/groups, including the Student Government Association.

    Food and Dining

There are not a lot of options on campus for dining. There is a buffet style cafeteria and two marts where you can buy snacks/coffee.

    Dorm Life

The dorms are nice and clean. There are 2-3 dorms on campus with community bathrooms, but the rest are suite-style. They have apartment options for upperclassmen.

    Academic Rigor

It's very easy to do well at Belmont if you apply yourself and study.

    Tips for prospective students

Belmont can be a great school if you make it fun. Get involved on and off-campus. Explore Nashville and learn its ins and outs. Though I don't like the school's administration, I've bonded with people like myself and have made friendships that will last a life time.

    In three sentences

The school itself is unorganized and doesn't seem to care or value its students. However, the Music Business and Entertainment Industry programs at Belmont are great and make up for the administrations flaws. Overall, I really love going to Belmont University.

Dining hall is hit and miss; sometimes food is exceptional, other times it is plain disgusting. Has a cereal rack, salad bar, drink stations, dessert table, international station (food from other countries), deli, hamburger & fries, and main entree for lunch and dinner so you have options.

    Dorm Life

Typical; has quiet hours/practice hours. RA's are on every floor, there to help out any problem you may have. 24 hour desk worker, person at the front desk at every dorm. Sometimes the people in the dorms can get very loud especially if you are a girl so watch out for that.

    Academic Rigor

It actually really depends on your major; college is how hard you want to make it. For music business, the course load is pretty much your standard business classes; but for audio engineering, it is an engineering major so it will be hard if you don't like physics or training. As for me, I am better at business than engineering so that's why audio is a little harder for me.

    Tips for prospective students

This is an extremely competative school for freshman so make sure you are on your A game and have really good grades. Also, make sure you apply early because Belmont gets a ton of applicants so make sure you are one of them. Start saving for college now if you want to go here because it is on the more expensive side.

    In three sentences

The Caf is a great place to eat and socialize. The food is pretty good. I do get tired of it though by the week's end.

    What to do for fun

It is right in Nashville, so you can partake in all the things the city has to offer. There are also a ton of performances and things on campus. I understand that there is a strict no alcohol policy, so I can't expect a lot of typical partying.

    Dorm Life

From my impression, the dorms are safe and basically very nice. You have the option of coed vs. all girls or boys and between suite style and community baths.

    Tips for prospective students

It took me a long time to pick the schools I wanted to apply to, let alone pick one to attend. Definitely do a campus tour. Don't just read these reviews. You might get a completely different impression than you think you will.

    In three sentences

So far, Belmont seems like a wonderful school! Many of the programs are clearly one of a kind and top notch. Though I'm not attending here yet, from my experiences, the staff and students are very kind and intelligent.

    Dorm Life

The freshman dorms are amazing. The older ones have a great sense of community and the newer dorms are top of the line. You can either have suite style or community style bathrooms, people tend to like both! Big rooms too!

    Academic Rigor

Depending on your year or course of study, some classes will be harder than others, which is to be expected. What makes up for the harder classes are the great teachers and small class sizes. You get a lot of one on one time with the teacher and they truly want you to succeed.

GREEK LIFE IS VERY DIFFERENT AT BELMONT FROM STATE SCHOOLS. WHILE THERE WILL ALWAYS BE SOME KIDS WHO LIKE TO PARTY, THAT IS NOT THE FOCUS OF GREEK LIFE. OUR SLOGAN IS ACTUALLY RETHINK GREEK AND THAT JUST MEANS WE WANT TO CHANGE THE WAY PEOPLE SEE GREEK LIFE.

    Clubs and Activities

THERE ARE MANY CLUBS TO GET INVOLVED IN AND IT IS ALWAYS FUN TO PARTICIPATE IN INTRAMURAL SPORTS.

ALL THE STAFF IN THE KITCHEN ARE SO NICE AND WELCOMING. IF YOU GO HERE, I AM 100 PERCENT CERTAIN THAT SOMEONE WILL CALL YOU DARLING OR SUGAR ON YOUR FIRST DAY AT THE DINNING HALL. AND THE FOOD IS PRETTY GOOD TOO!!! BIG VARIETY.

    Dorm Life

I CAN NOT SAY FROM PERSONAL EXPERIENCE THAT I HAD A GREAT DORM LIFE BUT THAT IS BECAUSE I WENT STRAIGHT TO THE HILLSIDE APARTMENTS SINCE I WAS A TRANSFER STUDENT BUT I HAVE FRIENDS THAT LIVE IN THE DORMS AND THEY LOVE IT. THEY HAVE MADE AMAZING FRIENDS.

    Academic Rigor

THE COURSE LOAD VARIES ON YOUR MAJOR. I AM A MUSIC BUSINESS MAJOR AND SOME OF MY CLASSES WERE PRETTY EASY WHILE OTHER, COPYRIGHT, REQUIRED MORE WORK. BUT AS I SAID, ALL THE STAFF IS INCREDIBLE AND THERE IS ALWAYS SOMEONE YOU CAN GO TO FOR HELP.

    Tips for prospective students

JOIN SOMETHING ON CAMPUS. WHILE IT IS A SMALLER SCHOOL, IT NEVER HURTS TO MEET PEOPLE THROUGH GREEK LIFE OR MAYBE CLUBS. ESPECIALLY IF YOU ARE A TRANSFER STUDENT MOVING IN TO THE HILLSIDE APARTMENTS LIKE I WAS. IT IS HARD TO MEET PEOPLE AND I DON'T KNOW WHERE I WOULD BE IF IT WERE NOT FOR KAPPA ALPHA THETA.

    In three sentences

BELMONT UNIVERSITY IS A VERY WARM AND INVITING SCHOOL. THE CAMPUS IS SMALLER SO IT IS EASIER TO MEET PEOPLE AND YOU ALWAYS SEEM TO SEE FAMILIAR FACES. THE TEACHERS AND KITCHEN STAFF ARE ALL VERY NICE AND REALLY KNOW THE MEANING OF SOUTHERN HOSPITALITY.

    Greek Life

Greek life doesn't take up a lot of Belmont's student population, and that is another thing I love about this school. It is very well-rounded and greek life is very involved while not over powering.

    Clubs and Activities

There are clubs for everyone. Leadership, sports, greek life, music, etc. The fitness center also has group fitness and it is great. I suggest yoga and zumba.

Great for these types of students

    Bang for the buck

It is an experience like no other, and I highly encourage everyone to apply even if you don't think you can pay for it. If it was meant to be, it will happen! (which most likely, it is)

    What to do for fun

There is literally unlimited options for fun things to do. Personally, I am a huge fan of the concert scene in Nashville. So many awesome people come to the city and there is always something going on music-wise! There is also percy priest, which is an awesome campsite/lake thing a few minutes from campus. On campus, you have greek life, inter murals sports, the fitness center, the quad (huge grass area to play frisbee and hang out with friends, etc) and lots more!

    Food and Dining

The caf is rough, but the staff is great and they are currently building a new caf! Also there are other food options on campus other than the cafeteria. Be smart about what you eat though.

    Dorm Life

Dorm life was THE GREATEST thing to ever happen to me. I made my best friends in my freshmen dorm! The RA's are all great, they actually want to help and they aren't just in it for the free room and board.

    Academic Rigor

Belmont is what you make of it. The classes are great, the people are great, but you definitely have to work for what you want.

    Tips for prospective students

Get involved! Talk to people, be social, try everything because you never know what you could learn! Be open to new possibilities and find what you love. Never settle for something that could be the determining factor for the rest of your life.

    In three sentences

Belmont University has assisted me in the growth my faith. I have never felt unwelcome at this school, everyone is encouraged to try anything and everything! The Belmont campus is so diverse, all sorts of people are there and always welcoming new friends.

    Dorm Life

It depends on what dorm you get. Also, keep in mind that each year they seem to be moving upperclassmen farther from the main part of campus because of all the new freshmen they are letting in.

    Academic Rigor

The academics can be tough, but in a good way.

    Tips for prospective students

If you're not into reading, writing, and humanities, it might not be your thing. It is a great way to meet people and make friends, but don't let it consume your time when you should be focused on your major.

There are a lot of clubs at Belmont like Best Buddies, Amnesty International, Eco Club, etc. You can find out about the clubs at the clubs fair at the beginning of the year and on Bruinlink. Also, there are many places in eat/shop at on Belmont Boulevard and on 21st Ave. Going downtown is fun too if you like bars and clubs. Some are 18+ if you are underage. Also, Centennial Park is really pretty and in the fall they perform Shakespeare plays which is fun to go to. Nashville is music city so there are always concerts and tons of venues!

    Food and Dining

The cafe most of the time does not have very good food, however the workers are really nice. The Curb Cafe has decently good food as well as the Corner Court. Overall, Belmont should have more options to eat besides the cafe and a better meal plan.

    Dorm Life

A lot of dorms are really nice, excluding a few. I love living on campus besides some of the rules in the dorms. It's a hassle to have over people of the opposite sex because of the rules.

    Academic Rigor

I am in the nursing program and find the curriculum very rigorous but very manageable if you stay on top of your work.

Belmont is known for a great music and nursing programs, but overall they have great academics in all fields! Most professors are great and classes are small so you can get to know your professor. If you are looking for a school with a lot of on-campus parties, you will not find them here. If you are into partying and go here, there are parties but you just need to know where to look.

    Tips for prospective students

Make sure to do well on the ACT, their top scholarships require a 29 or higher. Make a list of your personal pros and cons including financial capabilities, intended major, and what Belmont has to offer compared to any other schools you are considering.

    Campus Safety

There have been a few reported break in/ stealing incidents recently. There are almost no violent crimes, though. Nashville in general is highly ranked in safety. Campus security is a common sight on campus and Vanderbilt police also patrol Belmont.

    Greek Life

There are just a few fraternities and sororities on campus. None have houses and campus. Greek culture is not as prevalent here as it is at many other schools.

Great for these types of students

Music students or anyone with a lot of interest in music.

Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus

The Belmont Mansion is the beautiful home of Adelicia Acklen, a rich and well known plantation owner in the 1800's. Belmont is built on her land. Her mansion still stands as a museum today. Also, the Bell Tower on campus was used in the Civil War and is supposedly haunted. (The mansion is haunted as well!)

    Bang for the buck

It is expensive! If you work hard, you'll get your money's worth, but expect student loans. Most would say that Belmont is overpriced.

    What to do for fun

Nashville has endless things to do! There are concerts, songwriting sessions, movies, shopping, nature, etc... The music is constant and amazing! Belmont does not have a good party scene though. Vanderbilt is across the street though, and you'll find a party scene there.

    Food and Dining

The current cafeteria is not very good, but there should be a new one next year. Hopefully the caf won't be a problem for future students! Food options include various stores on campus and the curb cafe. They all offer food available to be bought with declining points, which come with your meal plan. These places offer decent food, and should hopefully be getting even better in the coming year.

    Dorm Life

The dorms are pretty safe, generally clean and updated (with a few exceptions..) Visitation hours are very strict and RA's are also quite strict. But, there is definitely a sense of community within the dorms.

    Academic Rigor

The music program is great. The school has a wide variety of majors and a number of wonderful teachers. Classes are shorter than at most schools, and you will probably receive a little bit less homework than at most schools. But the homework load and academic rigors varies by teacher, class and major.

    Tips for prospective students

Eat in the cafeteria! Watching students will give you some perspective on what a general school day is like. Do research on your own. This school is awesome, but it's not for everyone. Try to get some first hand accounts from people that are like you or are in your intended major. The culture of the school and the city will have a big impact on your life, so make sure you enjoy the Southern atmosphere!

    In three sentences

Belmont is vibrant, Christian oriented school in a can't beat location. The people are friendly, though the faculty can sometimes be inefficient. The school is geared toward music and music business majors though, others may not find Belmont to be as welcoming. Overall, a good school with many happy students.

    Campus Safety

Even though we are in the middle of a city, Belmont is really safe. We have campus security everywhere and the campus is always well lit and maintained.

    Greek Life

Greek life is very popular and everyone I know that is apart of it really enjoys it.

    Clubs and Activities

From muggle quidditch to CMA EDU there are clubs for everyone and everything. And if there isn't something that completely draws your interest, you can start your own through student life.

Great for these types of students

driven people who want to start working on their future right away. mostly music students but many that focus on other things.

Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus

We have a game here on campus... one point for every time you see someone playing guitar in a gazebo or on the quad. two points if they're playing Wonder wall.

    Bang for the buck

Belmont is VERY expensive. However, it's one of the only schools that let's you start working on your major in the first semester at Belmont and gives you great connections for your future career.

    What to do for fun

Nashville is music city so there's always things going on! free concerts, karaoke bars, and even free on campus events like movie nights and dance parties.

    Food and Dining

The caf food isn't bad per say, but it does get boring after a while. Luckily there's a lot of great food choices near campus that are relatively cheap that are great to try. Chagos and McDoogles chicken shack are my personal favorites.

    Dorm Life

The dorms are really nice for what one might expect for college dorms. I loved my freshman dorm and my floor eventually turned into a little family that I still keep up with now. As you get older you'll want to go off campus but that has more to do with the individual and less so with the school.

    Academic Rigor

The professors know you're smart and treat you that way. Most of the time the classes are really interesting and you want to take in everything that you can, however some of the courses (cough gen. ed's cough) can seem a little tedious at times.

    Tips for prospective students

Don't do anything half-way, try your hardest and try everything.

    In three sentences

Belmont University is a combination of High School Musical, Fame, and bible camp. It's a unique place for equally unique people. I can't imagine being anywhere else; it's the perfect place for me.

Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus

Putting a hammock up in the quad (general area in the center of campus.)

    Bang for the buck

Belmont is VERY expensive, but the experience you will get will make it worth it all.

    What to do for fun

There are so many good restaurants around: Chagos, a mexican restaurant across the street, the Pharmacy, a GREAT burger place in East Nashville, and Pancake Pantry, a very popular breakfast place that is walking distance from campus. Then there are so many things do in Nashville, like going downtown, taking a hike at Radnor Lake or Percy Priest, or walking dogs at the local Humane Society. Nashville is an amazing place to be!

    Food and Dining

Well...the first month you will enjoy the food, but after you will truly despise the caf (cafeteria slang). But they are working on having better food choices and building a new cafeteria, so it should get better!

    Dorm Life

There is a lot of community in the dorms and there are pretty good apartment choices on campus for upperclassman. Living on Belmont's campus is a very unique experience, for there is always something going on and it is usually a lot of fun.

    Academic Rigor

Almost every class you take YOU WILL LOVE. There are so many classes here that you will enjoy, and the teachers at Belmont are wonderful. Some classes can be a bit challenging, but the fact that you get through them will make you feel truly accomplished.

    Tips for prospective students

Come prepared to have the college experience of a lifetime. Belmont is a very unique place with something for everyone. Whether you enjoy music, helping people, designing, or representing people in court (lawyers) etc., you will find something here that you won't want to let go.

    In three sentences

Belmont is a place where you will receive a great college experience full of opportunities. It is a place where there is something for everyone, and you will be guaranteed hands-on-experiences in the field that you are truly passionate about. Belmont makes sure to get you plugged into clubs, internships, and other great experiences that other schools just don't offer.

    The Food is amazing here.

    Dorm Life

Very well maintained rooms, Price is a little high.

    Academic Rigor

    Seems Quite Rigorous

    What to do for fun

There is always something to do at Belmont! The Student Activities Program Board always host events for students to attend along with other organizations that hold events as well. This is one of the best ways to feel a part of the student body and also connect with students. Sororities and Fraternities host their own events for their perspective charities; there are Battle of the Bands concerts; there are performances held in the Curb Cafe to give that coffee shop feel.

    Food and Dining

Depending on your situation, the most accessible source of food is the cafeteria and though it may not be the best at times, it is the best choice due to your meal plan than spending seven to ten dollars eating out. For the year 2014-2015 there will be a new dining hall and other food places being opened to the students which expands the variety of food offered to them.

    Dorm Life

I live at home with my parents, but I find that dorm life is above average depending on the dorm you live in. I know that it is easy to form great relationships with roommates who live on the same floor as you. From what I have heard, cleanliness is key to making your dorm life worthwhile.

    Academic Rigor

The courses offered at the university are rigorous but not impossible. They are designed to engage the students and consider their strengths and weaknesses and make connections to some thing that is bigger than themselves.

    Tips for prospective students

I would highly recommend looking into joining a club, organization, or volunteering for school and non-school related events. I find that that is the best way to meet other students and also expose yourself to the different type of work ethics involved with the events.

    In three sentences

Belmont is a great school that allows various opportunities for students to connect with others with their broadened organizations and clubs. The school's curriculum gives the students chances to think about different approaches and situations and also makes them think outside the box. The best thing about Belmont is that the school tries their best to meet the different needs of each student.

    What to do for fun

Campus activities keep me busy. Watching the Belmont Bruin's teams is always a great evening. Plus, there is the entire city of Nashville to find something to do.

    Food and Dining

They have great meals at the cafeteria. Vegetarian and vegan choices everyday.

    Dorm Life

I have a great roommate. The housing is fabulous, many choices.

    Academic Rigor

Yes, classes are tough. You MUST study. But since I love to learn, it is not a problem for me.

    Tips for prospective students

Check out Belmont. A wonderful Christian environment with many opportunities to succeed.

    Campus Safety

Pretty safe and the cops are cool. Don't walk down music row during late nights alone.

    Greek Life

Greek life may seem dull due to there only being about 5 frats and sororities on campus. However I hear they're a lot of fun.

    Clubs and Activities

Clubs are everywhere and for songwriters BUSA is a big help. For future publishers Bear House Music is new but that's where you'll want to be. Have fun!

Great for these types of students

If you want to be in a music city, want to pursue music in some way, or can't afford Berklee Belmont is for you!

Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus

Practice rooms for usually taken and for whatever reason close super early on the weekends but you can get around that by playing in the staircases outside of the parking garage just don't play too loud.

    Bang for the buck

Belmont is very pricey that's why I'm filling out this survey to qualify for a scholarship. You want honesty you got it!

    What to do for fun

Basketball games are a blast even if you're not a fan you will be trust me. Shows and concerts are always happening and Live On The Green is a FREE festival that starts every fall and last 2 weeks but is only on the weekends and that is killer. It's Nashville there is always something to do. Don't be a house cat or a stick in the mud and you'll dig it here!

    Food and Dining

The caf will give you a job if you need it and work around your school hours plus the staff is really great. However the meal plans are expensive for food that doesn't close to what they charge you for.

    Dorm Life

Great activities are always being planned and almost everyone has a personal studio that they'll let you use. Practice hours are dumb for a music school though that might change by the time you get here. It's a christian university so the rules might seem lame but it's not as bad as everyone makes it seem.

    Academic Rigor

Do your homework study and you'll be fine. It's college what do you expect?

    Tips for prospective students

Basketball games are so much fun and a great place to meet friends. Speaking to musicians definitely hit the ground running and make a name for your music and what you do early because the music business is a grind best to start early.

    In three sentences

Belmont is a great school for music students or anyone looking to get involved in a field of music whether that be marketing, managing, or songwriting. Campus life is small but the people you will meet are among the friendliest and most talented around and will change your life in a great way. Could you ask for a better city than Nashville?
