    Great for these types of students

    Most students come to Berry with knowledge of their major and a definite plan for their life. However, students may come without this knowledge. Berry has many EXTRACIRRICULAR OPPORTUNITIES for students to explore outside of the classroom, while completing general education requirements inside of the classroom (so you do not acquire any obsolete credits in the process of choosing a major). Berry welcomes all students!
    Tips for prospective students

    Come to Berry with and open mind, heart and tolerance of others. Students from all walks of life attend Berry. Come with a positive attitude and your ecstatic Viking spirit!

    Berry is extremely expensive and almost everything is included in your tuition, its in the fine print. A lot of thing on campus are free, this is not true your tuition pays for it! When you hear of free events, run to participate in them!

    Berry offers many educational and recreational activities. Students can participate in both by managing time wisely.
    Am learning a lot

    Students can learn a lot, because professors are more than willing to teach the students. Just come with an willingness to learn in different methods, styles, etc.

    If you are determined, driven, fun-loving and willing to work hard this is a great school for you. If you think that college is all about partying and you will be okay scraping by with the skin of your teeth, then you probably shouldn't come here.
    Tips for prospective students

    If you are coming here, you should probably have a good idea of what you want to do with your life. It doesn't mesh well with the type of institution it is for you to be indecisve and not driven towards a goal. Get to know your advisor. Become their friend. It is not uncommon for students to go to professor's houses for dinner or just a chat. Make sure that they know you, know your personality, and know what your goals are. This will let them help you as much as possible. If you are confused about anything, just ask! Most people are willing to help you, they want to see you succeed, and they are more than willing to answer your questions. Do not be afraid to speak out in class. Mind your manners, but do not be shy. Free thinking and the flow of ideas is what a Liberal Arts school like this is all about. If you are intolerant of others, you need not apply. We try to keep this campus as open-minded and free thinking as possible. We do not tolerate teasing, harrassment, or just plain bullying here. But, if you do have different beliefs, you must be prepared for this to happen. Not everyone is going to love you for who you are and respect your opinions right off the bat. I am a gay student, and I feel that Berry could have done a better job of accepting and welcoming me as a gay student. We do not have an organization yet for GLBT or allied students, but we few who are passionate about it are working on the problem. Make sure you work on campus! Even if you don't need the money, and come one-- who doesn't need extra cash?-- you should do it for the experience. An added bonus is that you can list this when you start applying for real world jobs as previous experience! You also gain many friends, and life-long connections this way. Please do not shirk you homework duties. This school is all about high standards. You need to be well prepared and know what your doing if you want to succeed here. Don't get me wrong. It is not all work and no play...there are plenty of ways to have fun here.

    For as much as I do pay, I would say that it is a pretty good deal. The professors are amazing, they really do care. I have personalized attention. The ladies in the business office know my name. I get to live on the world's largest (and most scenic, in my opinion) campus. I also have a lot of free events sponsored by different campus organizations that I can go to. It is really not that bad.
    Am enjoying being here

    I do love the campus, but there are a few things that frustrate me. Right now, they are doing some major renovations and expansion, and the enitre campus, it seems, is covered in construction. It makes it difficult to get around, or enjoy the once beautiful scenery. Also, the administration is not open to having a GLBT group on campus to represent the interests of the GLBT students on campus. This upsets me, because it seems as if they are discriminating against homosexuals and those who choose to be supportive of them.
    Am learning a lot

    So far, I have only been taking Gen Ed. courses, which are basically high school review classes. As I advance in my coursework, however, I believe that I will be immersed in learning opportunities.

    Pre-vet, Animal Science, Biology, Chemistry, Education, Mathematics, Business, Accounting, Computers, Music (anything in Musics), Art(again .. anything in this department.
    Tips for prospective students

    Keep your GPA up, this will increase you student aid opportunities. If you have any problems with money, talk to the President. He will make sure you don't fall in deep with debt and still complete your four years. Don't fall behind in you classes, this isn't High School where your school days stop on weekends, the prof's expect you to as well versed in you notes as you were on Friday. Your exams will pile up and you will probably have 2-3 on the same day. This is the same where ever you go so you are just going to have to learn to study all the time and never wait till the last minute.. you will get into trouble with that, trust me. Remember the professors are there to help you. You pay them to teach you, thus there is no stupid question. Ask. They may have been waiting for someone to ask that specific question! Just a p.s. This is college not High School. No one is going to wake you up and make you breakfast. Get up yourself and go to class. You are paying the money and no one can have the same notes as you. You will lose your professor's respect if you skip classes.

    Again, you will be hard pressed to find anything like this anywhere else. Sure this college is expensive because it's a private school and doesn't get the same kind of aid as states schools but they have something better. The school has the student work program that gives additional aid to students to pay for school. Your classes hold more weight and work never gets in the way. You can work anywhere on campus ie in the dairy, food services, secretaries, accounting, day cares, police.. anything.

    The is the largest campus in the world and when you need to get away there is nowhere you can't go. Play in streams, hike, bike ride, or explorer Broad St and the snow-cone store. The professors are always willing to help you with anything. If you have a question on something in class the prof's will find the answer if they don't know or turn it into a research project you the two of you can work on. The Prof' check their emails all the time so they can constantly help you and the students hold their own tutoring program. There really isn't anything lacking at this school other than the no pets rule in the dorms, but that's the same everywhere.. not to mention that people do it anyway!
    Am learning a lot

    I am applying what I learn in my animal sciences classes directly into the Dairy where I work. Everything from their nutrition, calving, vaccinations, and surgeries are done first hand by the students. We learn the way things are done in the room then around 4am/3pm we go to work and apply everything and then some. You really won't get anything like this anywhere else.

    In-state students looking for a large campus and small school, and that will stay focused on their work, and like the feeling of a secluded place rather than a large city.
    Tips for prospective students

    Make sure the campus doesn't overwhelm you. Make sure you go in very focused on school, this is not a state university and doesn't have the greek system. It's not a party school but there are activities. But keep your focus mainly on your work.

    Berry is very expensive and private but its very easy to find ajob on campus so I cant complain about that.

    I love the campus, I will be a counselor at Winshape camps (Mountain campus) next year, it is beautiful. I've been to the HOBY leadership seminar on the newer part of the campus but stayed in the dorms at Morton Hall. The dorms were very small, no restrooms except the public ones down the hall. It was very dated and needs a bit of work but keep in mind these are one of the older female dorms on campus. The campus is very large and seems like a pain to walk so far to different classes. The college(student wise) itself is about the size of my high school. Don't get me wrong the campus is beautiful but needs a lot of construction work to keep it looking that way.

    From what I've heard, Berry is a great school for just about any academic.

    Ones who work hard and set goals to achieve them. Students who like the outdoors and walking will fit very well within the student population.
    Tips for prospective students

    If you are from the city then this school probably isn't in your best interest. The school is really pretty on the outside and the academics are amazing. I would suggest contacting the school to plan a trip and you can even spend the night in the dorms with a Berry College Student. There is not a lot to do around the college so if you get stressed out easily and need to do something to take a break - then this is not the right college for you. Do not allow the pretty sights to determine your love for the college. If you want to work hard (pull many all nighters in the library) and love the outdoors then this college is just the one for you.

    WAYYYYY TOOOOOOOOO EXPENSIVE for out of state students. Food is gross and you pay over $2000 for the required meal plan. Dorm rooms are not in good shape. The academics are amazing, so basically the money is worth it for the classes:)

    I am a very family oriented person and it is hard being 9 hours away from home. However, I do not let my feelings get in the way of my studies. The residence hall people are really nice and they try their best to suit everyone. The dorm rooms need some work since mine is practically falling apart. I just really miss home and it is a hard adjustment if you are so used to being around your family. There is also not a lot to do around the college, therefore it forces you to pay close attention to your classes. Not much to do when you need an academic relief:(

    These classes are hard and it requires students to study excessively and be able learn new material in a few days. Overall, if you put your mind to a certain goal and work for it, you will be successful here at Berry College.

    Berry is a great fit for students who prefer a traditional and small college, though ironically it has the largest campus in the world. Berry isn't far from Atlanta or Chattanooga, but Rome, Georgia remains a fairly open place with plenty of elbow room. The school is also great for students who are interested in the sciences as a whole. Berry has an outstanding science curriculum and facilities for this purpose. Lastly, Berry is a great fit for students who are academically ambitious, but still honor tradition. Berry is strongly academic, but it places an emphasis on many activities that occur from year to year. If you want to feel like you are a part of a community, Berry just might be the right choice for you.
    Tips for prospective students

    Tips? Try to immerse yourself in all different kinds of activities. Berry sets the stage for you to experience all kinds of things, so take advantage of it. The more you expose yourself, the more satisfied and certain you will be about the direction in which you want to go during the latter part of your time at Berry and especially after college. Not only so, but exposure to a number of activities will give you many, many opportunities to meet others with similar interests and develop lasting relationships. For students who known for certain their direction, Berry provides an insurmountable number of opportunities for you to pursue your goals. This includes student teaching, research, outdoor adventures, theatrics, job experience, so on, and so on. Don’t just take my word for it. See for yourself! Visit Berry.     Well, to be fair, Berry isn’t the cheapest option out there. For instance, because I am a resident of Alabama, I could have gone to Auburn or Alabama and saved $10,000 a year. Yet, there were two critical things I had to consider. First, what was the quality of the education? Second, where could I get the most scholarships? I encourage you to consider these and give them thought. I feel like Berry provides a greater educational experience than does Auburn or Alabama. I have developed many lasting relationships with some of the faculty and have been able to learn more as a direct result of relationships like these. At Berry, you’re a person, not a number. So while it isn’t the cheapest option, it’s the cheapest of its kind. Look around! Many schools similar to Berry cost about time and a half what Berry does. For college of its kind, it’s the number one choice! Not only is Berry significantly cheaper than its similar peers, but it also offers many scholarships. That’s why I am able to attend Berry at all. While state schools like Auburn and Alabama were cheaper to begin with, I would not have received nearly as much money from areas such as academics or athletics. That being said, be sure to continually look for scholarships! So is Berry worth it? Every penny.

    Berry has a student population of close to 2,000 students and is located in Rome, Georgia. This being said, if you enjoy nature and all of its wonders it has to offer, Berry’s 26,000 acres provides opportunities including mountain biking, hiking, mud wrestling, hunting, and more. On the flip side, if you fancy the city, both Atlanta and Chattanooga are only about an hour and a half away, providing all kinds of fun ideas for a Friday night (As they say, “Gotta get down on Friday”). I have personally enjoyed my time at Berry thus far. I have mostly been involved as a part of the cross country and track team and as a part of the Winshape College Program (www.winshape.org). Berry boasts an excellent running program and is known for hosting the Clara Bowl annually. The Winshape College Program is a scholarship program developed and funded by Truitt Cathy, owner of Chick-Fil-A, and cultivates college students to develop disciples, create community, and launch leaders to impact every generation. Beyond these include an integrated work system which allows students to obtain all kinds of jobs, particularly ones involved in their field of interest. Enjoy conducting research about certain organic compounds? Work for a professor in the Chemistry department! Enjoy writing? Write for the Campus Carrier (news paper)! The opportunities are endless.
    Am learning a lot

    Let’s not kid ourselves. How much you learn depends on how much you apply yourself. The school you choose to attend, however, does matter. This is because the quantity and quality of opportunities to learn varies from school to school. Does Berry College facilitate learning? Most certainly! While it offers a particularly strong program for science majors in general, it facilitates learning for students of all majors through a unique experience encompassing a small student to staff ratio, dedicated staff members who go beyond the ordinary to ensure a quality education, and the world’s largest campus (26,000 acres!) on which students can find an overwhelmingly large number of extracurricular activities ranging from theatrics to rock climbing. As a Biology major having completed my third year at Berry, I can honestly say that my professors have not only provided a quality education through both lectures and laboratory classes, but also have expressed high expectations for myself and all other students. This has encouraged me to work hard and to develop analytical skills necessary not only in further education, but also in day to day life.

    Outdoors enthusiasts (Berry gives students access to miles and miles of hiking trails, camping, and horseback riding... just to name a few), those interested in education (although I am not an education major, this school has a great ed program).
    Tips for prospective students

    If you are a prospective student looking at applying to Berry I would recommend having volunteer experience, good grades and SAT/ACT scores, and writing a good essay for your application.

    Because Berry is a private school, it is expensive (about $30,000 a school year). However, Berry does offer a number of different merit and need-based scholarships and grants to students.

    Berry, I think, has something for everyone.

    One of the great things about Berry College is that it is a small school (fewer than 2,000 students), and the student/teacher ratio is great. Students have the opportunity to get to know their professors, which is important to making the most of one's education and future.

    Berry is private, but they offer a lot of financial aid. I have applied to several schools, but no one has helped me like Berry has with my financial issues. I did not qualify for FASFA, so Berry continued to help me and ended up giving me money. Also every student is guaranteed a job, which earns about 2,000 a year.

    Even though this campus is pretty much in the middle of no where, there is so much to do on campus. Berry is the site of the famous Winshape Camp, so you can always get involved there. Also, there is a lot of space to have fun and do indoor and outdoor activities.
    Will learn a lot

    Berry has smaller classes and their professors really make sure that you understand what is going on. They will help you during their office hours and extra hours if you need that. At Berry their professors want you to succeed and they are your biggest fans!

    Professors make the classes at Berry. Ask as many upperclassmen as you can about your prospective instructors. the Government department is almost full of great Profs. while the English department is almost full of snobs. We have visitation hours between men and women and it is stupid because all the main campus dorms are co ed. Berry is a dry campus, but half the campus drinks Thursday through Saturday.

    Berry is extremely expensive without lots of financial aid to all but the upper middle class and above. all it takes is on bad semester of school to kill your funding. I have to have a month long process with the Financial aid department every year.

    Berry is wonderful place and the campus is a beautiful experience. The biggest problem however is that the campus lacks any and all manliness. No full contact sports are sponsored by the school and with 28000 acres of wooded campus they have no Rifle club. to suggest the idea of anything remotely involving testosterone is instantly denied by Berry's powers that be.

    After two years at Berry I have learned a lot and have already used some of my knowledge gained at the school in social and work situations, however some classes are taught by professors who want a reputation for being difficult and therefore make their classes way to complicated for a basic entry level class. Berry is an extremely academically challenging school, and is not for slackers who want to sleep through class.

    Berry is a good school for students who want to be well-rounded and deeply involved with their community. Also, the animal science and education programs are among the best of their discipline.

    You don't have to know what you want to do with your life your first year, but you will do better at Berry if you know what major you want to pursue before going in. Go tour the campus and talk to current students, that's your best way to learn about the school.

    There are certain aspects of campus life that you would expect to be better than they are for the price you're paying (like residence life), but for the most part you get what you pay for.

    I LOVE Berry College. The campus is gorgeous. The students are friendly and outgoing, for the most part. The residence halls and student center are very nice. There are plenty of events on campus, its extremely easy to get involved.

    The classes are harder than I was prepared for, honestly, but I could feel myself learning and growing as I worked in each class. If you are prepared to take your academics seriously, you will do well at Berry.

    People who don't know what they want to do in life. The school guides students towards what their passion is while giving them the best education possible and they help write resumes for later in life.

    Be aware that the administration is often on one side with the faculty and students on the other side. Bad things that happened while I was there or after graduation: 1. Sink holes everywhere--there was always a debate as to whether or not this was due to the quarry blasting, 2. We got a women's studies minor--one of my profs (who is no longer there) said the comment of one dean was 'aren't we getting a little peripheral now?,' and 3. They used to have a handicrafts shop where you could learn to weave--This was part of the on campus work program and started when the school began. It was a MAJOR part of what made me enjoy Berry as a student. Originally, the weaving room was in the Ford buildings in a space SPECIFICALLY BUILT for the weavers. The administration kicked us out of there and destroyed the beauty of the space by putting in the admissions office complete with cubicles. While going in search of the almighty dollar and trying to turn Berry into something it never will be, the administration is slowly destroying the college's charm and unique legacy. Such a shame!

    When I went, tuition was about half what it is now. That means it has doubled in a little over a decade. Ouch! I thought it was expensive enough to begin with. In fact, I was afraid I wouldn't get to go. I did not get a scholarship I had been counting on, I think because it couldn't go to students attending a private school like Berry, but I didn't know that at the time. I cried all day in class as a high school senior. My favorite high school teacher went to Berry, which was the main reason I wanted to go there too. He tried to make me feel better by saying 'yes, Berry's a great school but there's others out there too.' At the time, I didn't believe what he was saying. Now that I'm older and wiser, I have to agree with him. Berry is great--but don't bankrupt yourself or your parents just to go there. My mom had to sell her '69 GTO to pay tuition one semester. I just went home and it was gone. She didn't tell me the truth of where it went until years later. I'll always carry the guilt of knowing that, and I had a half scholarship when the school cost half as much as it does now. You do the math.
    Did enjoy being here

    For the most part, yes, I liked Berry. Now that I've been away for a little over 10 years, I appreciate it even more. However, I know it is not for everyone. If you go to Berry, you just have to accept that your life will be on campus and (at least while I went there) lots of people disappear on the weekends to go home--a suitcase campus. There isn't a lot to Rome, but you have what you really need and can drive to Atlanta if needed. (Plus, if you love Chinese, Golden China is the best. Just be sure to order off the menu instead of doing the lunch buffet). I should say that out of my graduating high school class, 5 of us started out at Berry. After the first year, 3 decided they wanted more of a party school, large university environment so they left. If that is what you want, Berry is certainly NOT for you. Berry is where you go to study first, have fun second. But 2 of us did graduate, so it is possible.
    Did learn a lot

    The classes were great. While I had a fairly steep learning curve, it wasn't too challenging. In fact, after I adjusted to the college environment and being on my own, I managed to pull down a 4.0 my first semester. Though, the other students in my intro to psychology course were mad at me. The prof refused to curve the grades since I got a 100 on the test plus maxed out all extra credit points. She didn't name me specifically, but everyone knew it was me since I was outspoken so much in class. Class sizes were small, so with the exception of a couple gen ed science courses, speaking up in class was possible even before getting into your major courses. If they're still there, you should take a class with Dr Tenger and Dr Trolander. They're awesome. Dr Trolander wrote me into a class that was full even when I told him at the time I was planning to major in psych. He commented that 'those aren't psych books you're carrying.' In the end, he won me over and I was an English major. I'd certainly recommend double majors--one you just like and one that is more career oriented. After all, you only do undergrad once.

    Berry is great for all types of students! Our business major as well as our science majors are excellent. In fact, the animal science program has the highest rate of acceptance into vet schools. But, we love having all types of majors and all types of students! It increases the diversity of our community and we love it!
    Tips for prospective students

    Don't rule anything out if you haven't decided on your major yet or even if you have. Classes can and will change your mind so be flexible if needed. Also pay attention in class, no matter how boring the professor maybe, they are talking for a reason. Many of Berry's professors only assign suggested homework, do it anyway and your grades will improve drastically. Always go to class and take notes and if you feel like you are going to have difficulties in the class, get a tutor and go talk to the professor. Berry's professor like meeting their students and helping you out, contrary to some people's belief they really do want you to excel in their class.

    Although Berry is quite expensive, being a private college, you definitely get your worth out of it. I know that especially as an animal science major I am getting more hands on experience here than I would in any other undergrad program and even some veterinary schools.

    I absolutely love it here! I wouldn't transfer to a different college for anything!

    Although Berry is expensive, it is one of the better private schools to attend in Georgia.

    The campus is vast and the people are friendly. There is a lot to do here, and if not, you can always create something new.

    Students who are interested in the medical field, animal science students, people considering majoring in education, smaller scale classes with more personal attention, students who like smaller schools (although there are not a huge number of students, there is plenty of space because the school is the largest college campus in the world).

    You may want to consider having some form of transportation if you come to Berry. Many students walk to class, but biking makes it much faster to get to your classes. I have even seen a few skateboards and scooters being used as well.

    Tuition is pretty high, but the education I am getting from Berry is extremely useful and relevant. Total tuition covers a lot, including an unlimited meal plan for all freshmen and free concerts and events that often give out free t-shirts.
    Am enjoying being here

    There are usually enough events on the weekends to keep me busy without making me feel overwhelmed about what events I should go to. The atmosphere is great, and it feels like a true family at Berry.

    I have learnt a lot during my first semester here. I have been challenged academically while learning real life job skills from my on campus job (which all students can receive).

    Walk walk walk, everything is basically really close so save your gas and time that you would spend looking for a parking spot. The castles are beautiful, but there is the drawback of being so far away and living in a pretty old building. Find an upperclassman mentor to help you out, doesn't have to be your freshman mentor but just a random person who can help you out and give you,advice.

    Berry is an amazing school and has so many unique opportunities. If you have plenty of cash flow, come... At least for one year. I'm really glad I was able to go for a year (though it would have been smarter to go maybe junior or senior year because of the unique, hands on experiences Berry gives)

    Campus Safety, in my opinion, does their job very well. Make sure you do not park in faculty/staff on day or hours where it is not permitted and do not stay in a 30min parking space for longer than 30 minutes, because you will receive a ticket.

Many high school students as well as newly married couples come to Berry in order to take pictures or get married on the beautiful campus.

    Although Berry definitely does not have the cheapest tuition, it is a private school with a small population of students. The small class sizes make it easier to get to know professors on a closer level, which benefits a student's grade. I have heard that an education and degree from Berry means a lot when employers look at applications.
    What to do for fun

    Broad Street is a cute little downtown area with many restaurants and shops. Anything involving the outdoors is always a fun thing to do around the Berry campus. There are three rivers conveniently located within a 10 mile radius where students and visitors can go swimming, fishing, tubing, and many more activities. Horseback riding is always an option if students make a trip to Mountain Campus and visit the Gunby Equine Center. Periodically the rock climbing walls are open as well.
    Food and Dining

    Let's be real, any time of cafeteria food is not going to be five star. There are certain things that d-hall serves that are delicious and others that are not so tasty.
    Dorm Life

    Most of the freshman dorms are strictly all girls or all boys dorms, but as you become an upperclassmen dorms become co-ed, separated by floor. The majority of the student live on campus, which is convenient for students to walk to all of their classes and even to the dining hall.

    Unlike high school, there is no homework, AT ALL. Most of the classes have 3 to 4 exams and then a final, so all studying must be taken seriously. Receiving a degree from Berry is actually extremely important, so even general education classes are top notch. All of the major classes provide hands on experience, which prepare you for your intended career.

    For prospective students applying to Berry, make sure you take a tour of the campus first. You are guaranteed to fall in love with it. Like any other college, make sure you apply early so you can get notification on any academic scholarships you may receive.

    the campus of berry college is extremely safe. seeing as it is its own city, berry has its own police force that patrols the campus at all hours of the day. moreover, in the evening, around 8 p.m., the campus gates are locked, and only cars bearing the student/faculty security decals are allowed to enter onto the campus.

    Every year we have mountain day, in which all of the students gather on top of this large hill mountain and we take a torch down and walk up and down the hill holding hands with others. We do this as a tradition that ou rfounder, Martha Berry, started. As you go down the hill, you take coins to throw in a basket at the bottom, and the money collected goes towards a scholarship for other students.

    Berry College is pricey, but you really do get a lot for your money. Once you pay tuition, there really are no other expenses. There is a new gym that is very large and is filled with the latest equipment, there are running trails, mail service, computers, cameras, and kindles available to be checked out. Laundry is included and printing in the computer labs.

    The student activities office puts together fun opportunities like bowling, dances, carnivals, sports, socials, and trips. The campus is the largest in the world, so there are always places to explore, etc.

    The dining hall is not open all of the time like other bigger schools, but we do have four restaurants on campus, and the dining hall food is decent. The seletion is farely good, and the food is fresh.

    The freshamn dorms are not that nice, and they all have community bathrooms. The upperclassman housing is farely new and nice though. They clean the dorms regularly, and the rooms are not tterribly small. Laundry facilities, a kitchen, and common areaas with tv's are provided.

    The campus is extremely safe. Of course, no college campus is perfect and there are rare instances of assault, for the most part it is very safe. We students even have dubbed our college The Berry Bubble because of the safety compared to other colleges.

    Greek life? There is no Greek life at Berry College. Alcohol is not allowed on campus, so partying is rare and hushed. If you plan on attending Berry with the expectation of partying all of the time, then Berry is not the school for you.

    There are huge number of clubs that are offered to students and most have free activities with your paid dues. There are also a huge number of activities that encourage students to take part in the college's atmosphere.

This includes faculty, staff, students, alumni, parents, and others who simply live on the Berry College Campus.

    I cannot really give a detailed bang for the buck review, because I have not graduated. However, I have seen that a great number of students who graduate from Berry move on to either amazing graduate programs or begin working at a successful company.
    What to do for fun

    There is a ton of activities that go on throughout the year that are fun. Even if there are no activities going on, there is plenty to do. For example, there is a hiking trail that many people walk that is completely free.
    Food and Dining

    The food for the most part is decent. The Dining Hall (or as students refer to it, D-Hall) is an all you can eat buffet with different menu items each day. There is also Val Halla, which a has the structure of a convenience store and food court that contains several quick serve restaurants as well as items that one would find in a gas station.

    Since I live at home I do not really know what dorm life is like at Berry. Being a commuter does not exclude you from the activities that occur on campus throughout the year.

    This is a very rigorous school, so prepare yourself. Though the classes are tough, in general, most are extremely fun and interesting.

    If you do decide to come to Berry make sure that you have some sort of vehicle, whether it be car or bike. Berry is not tiny at all, and in many cases you have to walk a quarter of a mile or more to get from class to class.

    Campus safety is excellent on campus! Officers regularly patrol the roads and parking lots, and have an excellent respond time. Many emergency booths are found on the main campus and the mountain campus where a button can be pushed and and officer will dispatch to the location.

    Although all students are welcome and encouraged to tour/attend the college, environmentally conscious students in particular will find Berry appealing for the sustainability projects hosted by the college and the closeness felt to nature.

    The college features a castle, built in the 1930s, which serves as classrooms, offices, and dorms for the students. Many other old stone-built structures can be found on the mountain campus, which was the original location of the college. The college greatly honors the founder, Martha Berry, and a yearly Mountain Day is held in honor of her where family is encouraged to attend and feel the family atmosphere and participate in fun events with the students. Marthapalooza is also an annual event that features carnival rides and gives students a break from their hectic college year.

    Many people will look at the hefty price tag of the private college and decide against it, when in fact, after all the financial aid and scholarships offered, many students end up paying less than they would at a local community college! Academic scholarships and need based scholarships are offered, and their are many work opportunities to help support students and their tuition bill. The investment is definitely worth the education received!
    What to do for fun

    The campus spans over 26,000 acres so there is no limit to outdoor fun! There are numerous bike, hiking, and horse trails. Hiking to the House of Dreams is a must for any student; the House of Dreams was built by Berry students as a vacation home for the college founder, Martha Berry, at the very plateau of the mountain and features beautiful gardens and views. The 52 acre reservoir that sustains Berry's water needs is also within hiking distance, and although no fishing or swimming is allowed, students can relish the beauty of the environment and even camp in certain locations. Aside from the outdoors, the student activity board plans parties, dances, and other fun campus events weekly. The college is a short distance from downtown Rome where many shops and restaurants are open daily.
    Food and Dining

    Berry's dining hall features healthy and hearty meals. Students with all tastes will find something to their liking, and allergy warnings are posted at every station. Berry has three other dining locations where breakfast, coffee, and lunch can be purchased along with grocery items. A Chic-fil-A restaurant, burger studio, deli, and southwestern style grill are featured too.

    As a commuter, I do not have personal experience in the dorms. There are many dorm and townhouse options available and they are continuously updated and renovated. Singles, doubles, and even cottages are used for student housing.

    The toughness of courses really depends on the professor. Although Berry holds academic standards, professors are free to decide grading scales and curriculum. Peer learning is encouraged, and the college will always have tutoring options available.

    Do not be scared of being in an unfamiliar environment with people you don't know! Being a part of the Berry Bubble means that you will interact regularly with faculty and students and in the process meet great people and friends; the campus really feels like home.     Berry is extremely safe. The campus is big enough for its own zip code, and thus we have police patrolling the campus at all hours and the police station is housed right outside the main entrance. The gatehouse is attended at all hours. You can call them at any time if you feel unsafe walking around on campus. The dorm rooms are also regulated by ID cards, so certain people will not be able to get into certain building at specific times (e.g. guys' key cards will not work on girls' hallways after visiting hours).
    Greek Life

    Berry does not have a Greek system.
    Clubs and Activities

    Berry offers a wide variety of clubs and activities to encourage a community atmosphere. Students are also required to go to a certain number of Cultural Events to graduate, which are always fun and interesting. There are endless things to do on campus.

    Berry College is great for any student who care to work hard for a better education and not seeking a party-school environment. If you love the outdoors, that's even better (though not required; there are still plenty of other things to do on campus). The most hands-on majors would be Animal Science and Education, since we have our own livestocks and farm, etc, on campus, along with a pre-school and elementary school.

    The biggest tradition on campus is Mountain Day, which is similar to homecoming. The day before is the Mountain Day Olympics, where afternoon classes are cancelled and dorms play against each other. During Mountain Day, parents and alumni are invited back on campus to watch the current students' march down the hill. Each gender in different class years wear different colors and drop pennies based on their age into a basket at the foot of the hill. They go down first in ones, march back up and join hands to march down in twos, then fours, then eights, then sixteens. That night, there will be a carnival called Marthapalooza held in the Clara bowl about six rides or so with various games.

    Given how much you pay, Berry College does make sure you get your worth in education and student life. They really take care of you and provide a lot of great opportunities for after college.
    What to do for fun

    Berry offers a lot of opportunity for outdoors activities like hiking and camping and other off-campus activities. Student activity (called KCAB) has something planned almost every week, and it's hard to miss the events because reminders are everywhere (on the Stall Wall and via email). Activities include Day Glow, movie nights, bowling, haunted trail, cultural film weeks, Mountain day Olympics, karaoke night, theatre plays, coffeehouses, pageants, concerts. Downtown and the movie theatre is also fairly close, but they're not the greatest. Berry also gives students plenty of opportunities for volunteering on and off campus. Student clubs are pretty open to sit-ins if you're not an executive member (e.g. SGA). There are also sporting events every week, including many intermural ones to participate if you're not an athlete.
    Food and Dining

    D-hall is great; I've not eaten at a better dining hall. They have a very wide and healthy variety and some of their recipes are even from parents'. Of course, there are still always those salads and pizza that are there everyday. Besides the dining hall, there are a few fast food options and coffee shops, including Starbucks.
    Dorm Life

    Almost all students are required to live on campus, so dorm life can be pretty fun. Genders are separated by floors and an underclassman can choose to room with an upperclassman if they want. Besides the traditional dorm rooms, there are also townhouses and cabins and suites. Berry is technically a dry campus so you won't get too much racket in the hallways. RAs are always friendly and willing to help.
    Academic Rigor

    Berry prioritizes learning so academics rigor is fair. You WILL be graded according to your work input but professors are more than willing to help (not to mention student tutors and writing centers to also aid you).

    If you don't like the idea of learning, Berry College is definitely not a place for you. Since it's a liberal arts college, the general education is heavier than other schools. Also, Berry College's mission statement centers around the hand, heart, head, so expect to embrace volunteering along with learning.

I think the campus is amazing and perfect for college students, whether studying or relaxing, and all the staffs and students are super-friendly.     I would suggest being very proactive with regard to Financial Aid. There are many professionals that are available to assist with applying for federal, state and Berry College aid.

    I must admit that Berry College is quite expensive. However, for a private liberal arts college, the opportunities available to the students make the cost seem more bearable. There are also ample opportunities to investigate in order to lower the cost of attending Berry College.

    The natural atmosphere and Christian-based environment create a comfortable arena in which I can attend college. There are many fun activities that are organized each semester on campus, but I love that I can also just go for a walk or study outside and have just as great a time.
    Am learning a lot

    There are many different learning experiences available on campus. The 26,000 acres allow science majors to have a large area for research and exploration. There are many cultural event activities that take place each semester, which allow students to expand their knowledge of many subjects that may not be taught in their courses.

    Great for these types of students

    berry is great for those students who do not want to get lost in the crowd. your class sizes are small (at most 30 students; at the least 5). eventually it gets to the point where you know of just about everybody and whenever you walk around you will be able to say to at least 10 people.

    one of our largest events and tradition on campus is a weekend called mountain day. this is the celebration of our founder's birthday and homecoming all rolled into one. we have mountain day olympics where the dorms compete against each other and against the faculty-staff team. the grand march, up on mountain campus, is a huge deal. the alumni come back and watch the current students carry on the 100 year old tradition of marching up and down the mountain. and our headliner event- marthapoolza, a mini-fair on campus. the whole weekend is always is themed and all the students are super involved.
    What to do for fun

    our student planning committee is amazing! they plan themed weekends at least six times a semester (vegas weekend is coming up). and on un-themed weekends there is always something- a movie, a dance, a game show, bowling....there is always something. berry also offers a lot of discounts for certain tickets, like to the movies and to the museums in atlanta as well.
    Food and Dining

    there are two places to eat on campus- d-hall, the traditional dining hall and valhalla, the food court. both places have a quite a bit to choose from, and we just recently built a chick-fil-a in the food court, along with a customized burger studio. just be prepared for the end of the semester- choices dwindle quickly. it is mandatory that you have the unlimited plan your freshmen year- just a heads up.

    the dorms on campus are all fairly nice- obviously some are newer others. overall though they are kept clean and comfortable. and there are always little programs going on for the different halls to encourage you to get out of your room.
    Academic Rigor

    berry is definitely an academically rigorous school. a lot of times your general education classes will require as much work as your major class. however, the point is that you will learn, and that you will have plenty of work to keep you busy. all of the professors are always willing to help, if you go to them. they are all required to have ten office hours a week, which is such a great benefit.
    Tips for prospective students

    if you are considering coming here, please realize now that this is not your typical college. iif you are not willing to put in the work and go to class then you will struggle academically. we do have an attendance policy, so just be aware before you commit to coming.

    berry college is a tight-knit community of college kids who are wanting to exceed in life. everyday you are challenged to think beyond what you know. plus, there are so many opportunities to be involved in on campus activities and off campus programs in the area.

    Berry offers invaluable experiences through its student-work program. Students start with entry level positions, but can advance to managerial and other high-responsibility positions. There are also plenty of research, leadership and volunteer opportunities.

    A student-led Activities Board plans TONS of weeknight & weekend activities like outdoor movies, casino night, cosmic bowling, dances, concerts, etc. There's always something fun to do on campus!

    Berry has a variety of meal plans. The campus has a cafeteria that offers several hot station as well as a sandwich and salad bar. And it has a soft serve ice cream machine. There is also a mini mart and restaurant options like Chik-fil-A and a burrito place like Moe's.

    Berry has tradition dorm rooms to suite-style apartments on campus. On such a beautiful campus, you wouldn't want to live anywhere else. Residence halls have modern lounge spaces with kitchens, tvs, game systems, study rooms, etc.

    Berry challenges its students and wants to see them succeed. Professors are readily available to students. There are also free student tutors and the writing center.

    The campus safety officers are really great people and understanding. In my experience, they are quick to respond (my experience only extends as far as the fire alarm going off due to smoke from the oven). At the entrance to campus, we have an automatic gate and gatehouse where there is always someone and after about seven p.m. the gate is shut and people have to have the gate opened to be let in and if they don't have a Berry sticker they have to explain why they're coming in, who they know, etc. There are very few incidences of violence on campus.

    There is no Greek Life. Period.

    There is a large selection of clubs and activities to choose from. I am always learning of a new one on campus that I had no idea existed. There is likely to be something to suit your interests.

    Great for students dedicated to their studies and want to attend a college that has a really supportive and engaging community. Though it is rigorous, it tends not to be stressful.

    Well, we actually have the largest campus in the world (26,000 acres) so that in itself is unusual, I suppose. That being the case, we have a lot of interesting locations, including an old mill, a beautiful old chapel where people often come to get married, a reservoir, innumerable trails, and too many things to name that I can't even think of right now so visiting and exploring is the best option. Every year for Martha Berry's (our founder) birthday we celebrate Mountain Day which is a bit hard to explain but it's a weekend where we have Olympics in which the different dorms compete against each other, then a very...strange...tradition of walking up and down the mountain.
    Bang for the buck

    I guess it depends who you are and what you value in terms of bang for the buck. For me, it's wildly expensive, but I really value my education but I really think I am getting the most out of my educational experience because the one-on-one relationships I have with my professors are great since the classes are small compared to most schools. They know who I am and I feel comfortable with them and I feel like I am really learning and I know that Berry is a highly respected institution, so I feel like the degree I am getting is going to really serve me well.
    What to do for fun

    The college often sponsors a lot of events; well, different groups and organizations across campus do. So usually on weekends there will be a random event of some variety to do, not always that exciting, depending on your interest, but some of them can be really cool. Other than that you really need to make your own fun. If you're looking for parties, you have to find them on your own because they are very hush-hush because it is technically a dry campus, so you'll have to know someone or ask around. Parties aren't a huge part of campus life.
    Food and Dining

    Eh. People complain a lot about the food here, but they don't realize how good they have it compared to many other places. Valhalla, upstairs, offers a couple options for a break from the regular dining hall with a burger place, Chick-Fil-A, & taco place. The dining hall itself does a decent job of trying to offer a variety of things to please people of different tastes, including a salad bar and pizza every day. I think they could do a better job, but at the same time the food itself isn't bad.
    Dorm Life

    It's crap. Honestly. I haven't been here long, as I am a transfer, but truly Res Life tries to put things together and sometimes it can be fun, but you have to make it fun and go in groups otherwise it can be a fail. I never had to live in the freshman dorms, but from what I've seen and visited in them, they're not five-star quality. They are manageable and really probably typical of most colleges, honestly, so I shouldn't be too harsh. Res Life really does try to make things as enjoyable as possible, though.
    Academic Rigor

    You will absolutely have to change your study habits. If you skated by in high school because you were ahead of everyone (which typically everyone here was), that won't be enough to get you through here. You have to study and work hard here. Your professors really do expect a lot from you and you have to perform well to get that A that we all want, but the professors are always (typically) there to help you and are very supportive. But you really do have to do the work and put in the hours outside of class.
    Tips for prospective students

    Don't expect a raging and overly exciting campus life. You will often have to make your own fun, but do explore. If you don't allow yourself to enjoy it, you won't. This holds true with really any school, but you have to get involved to enjoy your experience otherwise you will be miserable; push yourself outside your comfort zone.

    Berry is a close-knit community where the professors are really supportive of their students. The campus is beautiful and it's generally a peaceful environment with deer roaming freely, as in you will likely see dozens on your way to class in the morning. Unfortunately, some things seem to be going downhill and though it tends to be hidden, there are often people that can be very closed-minded.

    Berry is one of the safest campuses I could possibly imagine. Students often refer to Berry as the Berry Bubble because we all feel extremely safe there.

    Great for students who love community and small class sizes. Almost all students live on campus, making it a lot easier to connect to all your peers. Also great for students who love doing things outdoors. Berry has the perfect campus for hiking, camping, and hammocking.

    Every August, we have a tradition called Mountain Day. Students will gather on a specific hill on campus dressed in either pink, white, or blue. Pink for underclassmen girls, blue for underclassmen boys, blue for senior girls, and white for senior boys. Students then hold hands and march up and down the hill, dropping pennies in a basket at the bottom of the hill. At the end of the Grand March, the pennies are all donated to charity. Later that night, Berry hosts a Carnival on campus and all students get in for free.

    Berry is quite an expensive college, but I'd say that the experience of coming to Berry is well worth the price.
    What to do for fun

    Berry always has events over the weekend that are free for students. Some of the past events that Berry has hosted are: concerts, skate nights, cosmic bowling, and dances.

    Berry's dining hall is quite good for a college dining hall. My only complaint is that it often lacks variety. We also have coffee shops, a sandwich shop, Chik Fil-A Express, a Mexican take-out stand, and a Burger Stand to offer more options.

    Berry College is a residential school, with almost all students living on campus. Berry offers a variety of dorm styles, including traditional dorms and apartment style housing.

    Berry College is a challenging school and if you are looking for a place where you can get easy A's, then Berry is not the school for you. General Education courses, as well as Major Courses, will be challenging, but will offer opportunities for you to learn new and exiting things.

    If you like small schools where you can really get to know your peers and professors, then Berry is the school for you. I would recommend that you take advantage of your professor's office hours, as Berry professor's are always willing to help and like students who ask questions. Also, I would recommend staying the weekends, as the Student Activities Board always puts on cool events over the weekends.

There are a lot of clubs and organizations to take part in that also throw many events. Bike rides and other outdoor activities are fun on this beautiful campus. There is never a dull moment at Berry.

    The Dining Hall (DHALL) at Krannert has a variety of different food choices for one to choose from. One can choose from a comfort food station, pizza station, salad bar, grill, deli, desert, breakfast bar, international foods, and an Expo station. If one is in a hurry, they can grab food in Valhalla, which has Chick-fil-A, a deli similar to Subway, a Tex-Mex station equivalent to Moe's, a Burger Joint, excellent, Oriental food bowls and sushi, and a miniature food mart.

    Dorm life is great,. One usually meets some of his or her closest friends on his or her dorm hall. there are many different and fun events that happen within a dorm hall.

    The academic work is challenging, but the professors and courses leave you fully prepared to pass finals.

    Live college life to the fullest, but do not go too crazy. Do not focus solely on grades and studying, but make time for extracurricular activities and quality time with friends.

    You have to have/ attend CE (Cultural Events) credits to graduate. Every week Berry will notify you of different CE on campus. It can be anything from a guest speaker to a band concert or poetry reading.

    It is a little pricey, but for a small, private school with a beautiful campus and excellent opportunities, it's worth it.
    What to do for fun

    There are activities and events planned every week and weekend. Do NOT worry about being bored in college, and do not worry about having too much free time. If you're not studying, you can go to the gym and play racquetball, take a stroll, go on a hike, visit mountain campus, watch a movie, attend sports events, and more.

    The dining hall offers a lot of variety, but since I'm accustomed to a more asian selection, the food was a slight disappointment. You will find ways to be creative with your meals.

    My personal experience in the dorms has been excellent so far. I stay in an all girls dorm and it is generally pretty quiet. The RA's do their best to plan fun activities for each floor. You will become very close with your neighbors on your floor.
    Academic Rigor

    I've heard the science classes at Berry are more rigorous than they are at other institutions. Different professors have different teaching methods. One of my professors taught a lecture class but did not lecture at all, which made learning the material much more challenging.
    Tips for prospective students

    Prospective students should definitely do their research on any college. Berry is known for their Animal Science Program and their Early Childhood Education Program. Berry has a small student population but has a huge campus and most students are from in-state.

    Berry College provides excellent opportunities for those looking for an institution focused on academics. The professors are generally very helpful because they are required to hold office hours for students that need their assistance. The transition form high school to college is more drastic academically than it is socially.

    The dorms are clean. They get cleaned everyday so you don't really have to worry about cleanliness. Depending on the dorm you get it is pretty spacious and you get your own closets. The Roommate change policy is very good and flexible.

    You need a car! Make sure you are ready for college level work, if you are not you may not make it past the first semester.

    The deer outnumber the students. They think they are people at this point, and they will walk right into your class with you if you let them. The college is not for those who have a fear or deer, squirrels, or any other adorable woodland creatures.
    Bang for the buck

    Berry College sells a quality education as a private school and a somewhat lofty price. You get what you pay for. You pay to have the ability to meet one on one with your professor whenever you don't understand a topic, you pay to have free tutoring with another student whenever you need it, free writing support, and classes that are intellectually rigorous. Above all, you can have as many campus jobs as you want to meet your spending needs. I have three great jobs right now with bosses that will work with my schedule and test dates. Berry really is the gate of opportunity for people who want to aspire, and that really is priceless.
    What to do for fun

    Berry College has very tightly-knit athletic communities with several sports, and they also offer intramural sports. The student activities board is very active, and they provide free concerts, movies, or some other activity every weekend. The college is an ideal fit for the outdoorsy type, with numerous bike and hiking trails. Mountain campus provides beautiful scenery just minutes away when you need a breath of fresh air by the waterfall or one of the beautiful chapels. There are lots of options for outdoor classes, like kayaking, horseback riding, and skiing for those that like to travel. The college also endorses study abroad and makes it possible for any student to have the opportunity.
    Food and Dining

    As far as meal plans go, there are two options. A very inexpensive plan will buy you a few meals a week in the food court section, which includes a number of quick food options (burger joints, taco bar, sub sandwich bar, Chick-fil-A, teriyaki bowls, a grocery section, etc.) which is the ideal plan for those living in housing with kitchens or commuter students. The other, standard meal plan offers different levels of plans for the Dining Hall, or real food on campus. The food in the dining hall has been going steadily downhill in recent years. A change in supplier companies or nutrition requirements, perhaps, but nonetheless it is not the most appetizing thing in the world. There is plenty of variety, and the food may be better than some of the other college food I've tasted. However, eating it every day makes one very thankful for the nearby off-campus restaurants.
    Dorm Life

    As with many schools, the dorms are a work your way up deal. The freshman have the older buildings with traditional style dorms, and there are a fair amount of complaints about them, as the buildings are several years old. For the upperclassmen, architecturally complex and beautiful new buildings are called home. Some of these new dorms for sophomores are traditional style, but the upperclassmen tend to choose the townhouse or apartment style dorms, which are both very nice.
    Academic Rigor

    Berry College was a breath of fresh air for me, academically. After being bogged down by high school and the tone of requirement behind every piece of curriculum, I was astounded by the academic atmosphere that I was met with in college. The professors are both passionate and empathetic, but the work is no walk through the park. It's not an easy A school, but getting that 4.0 is not impossible, either. The work is fair, and you truly get what you put into it.
    Tips for prospective students

    From an unbiased standpoint, the opportunities that are waiting for every student that attends Berry College may not be what every student is looking for. The campus tours are given by student workers, just like the thousands of other jobs that are held by current students, and what you see is what you get. It's not a large school, with classes usually filled with 30 people or less. Your professors all want to know you on a personal level, and they want to see you succeed and thrive academically. The sports teams are at the top of their game, and scholarships are offered readily, especially for the football team that is in the works. The college is in Rome, Georgia, which is not a small town, but it's not featuring big on night life and clubbing, either.

    What to do for fun

    Berry has a lot of extracurricular activities which include sports. They also have a theatre, music and art program. There is also another activity called the WinShape Program. It is a program sponsored by Chic-fil-a and is a Christian and Leadership outreach and program.
    Academic Rigor

    From what I could tell by the visit they do put a lot of emphasis on academics. However they have a lot of extracurricular activities. They are looking for well rounded people and students. Be prepared to manage many things at once.
    Tips for prospective students

    Make sure you have a bike for getting around the giant campus. If you go for a visit dress up and look your best. Make sure to explore a lot about the school before you visit.

    Berry has a beautiful but very large campus. It's very prestigious looking and feeling but everyone is very nice. They have a lot of different pathways and classes that would fit anyone.

    This is probably one of the safest colleges I have ever heard of. The campus police are continuously patrolling, there are plenty of lights in the parking lots as well as call posts to signal the police, and overall there is little to no crime.
    Greek Life

    There is no Greek Life on campus.
    Clubs and Activities

    There are a multitude of campus clubs and activities. At the beginning of the year there is a fair to promote all the different ones on campus and it is often hard to choose between them there are so many. Often times if a student does not find a club at the fair, they will stumble upon one during the year.
    Great for these types of students

    This school is great for students who like the outdoors or a country setting, do not mind the quiet, and are willing to work hard.

    During the fall semester, Berry hosts Marthapalooza in celebration of the founder, Martha Berry's, birthday. There is a fair on campus with a Ferris Wheel, other rides, food, and games, which lasts until well past midnight. It is a fun celebration that all students can enjoy with no charge.
    Bang for the buck

    Berry College is definitely worth the price students pay. The school offers many different resources in all different areas and each student is guaranteed an on-campus job. There are also many scholarships offered to the students.
    What to do for fun

    The college definitely is not lacking in the activities area. There are multiple things going on almost every weekend both on and off campus, provided by our activities board. It is good, clean fun where everyone gets to hang out and create new friendships.
    Food and Dining

    The food is not great in the dining hall and is pretty good in Valhalla. I wish there was more variety in the dining hall and that the food was better quality. There are not many food options on a daily basis.
    Dorm Life

    Berry dorm life is great and I love living on campus. I wish they were a bit more updated though, especially the one kitchen shared by the entire building and the bathrooms. The relationships students build with one another in the dorms is fun and makes it easy to find friends.
    Academic Rigor

    Berry College has a challenging curriculum, but professors are always willing to help. There are tutors readily available and other resources on campus to help students succeed.
    Tips for prospective students

    I recommend always going to professor's offices to ask for help or just to talk because these connections will not only help in their classes, but in other areas as well.

    The campus is very secluded and has the police station right across the street. I would never feel threatened at Berry.

    Berry is really expensive, but I fully believe that it is totally worth it.

    Freshman girls get to live in a castle. Yes please.

    Berry has a great Animal Science program. I am going for Communications and Spanish. The study abroad program is great and the Communications is one of the top majors there.

    I found out about Berry from my middle school and I have been in love with it ever since. Once I stepped on campus I knew that Berry was the only college for me.

    Berry College is the only place where I can leave my $2000 computer, wallet, and iPhone sitting on a table unattended for over a half hour and not worry that someone will take it. Every building has scanners to get into them (including scanners on each hallway).
    Clubs and Activities

    There is a club for almost anything at Berry and if you can't find one you like, you can make one yourself!
    Great for these types of students

    Outdoorsy people, students that enjoy having a relationship with their professors, and people that like a quieter atmosphere.

    Every student has the ability to choose a job on campus and they are guaranteed a paid position somewhere.
    Bang for the buck

    Berry is extremely expensive and tuition increases each year. There is no doubt that the quality of education is leaps and bounds beyond many other places, but sometimes we wonder where all our money is going.
    What to do for fun

    Athletic events are great at Berry as athletes and non-athletes are always great friends (something you don't find at the larger schools). There are also dances and raves to go to, skate nights and the local skate club, and even midnight bowling throughout the semester to keep students doing fun things! Berry may not have the party atmosphere a big university has, but there is always something fun to do with the school.
    Food and Dining

    The food at Berry College is great. The buffet style dining hall is always full of fresh new recipes and keeps the stomach yearning for more. Parents can even submit their own recipes to the dining services to make for the entire college!
    Dorm Life

    Dorm life is average at Berry College. Many of the buildings are old and the ones that are new are occupied by all upperclassmen. There is always a friend down the hall but events are sometimes few and far between.
    Academic Rigor

    People do not come to Berry looking for a free ride because they know they won't get one here. Class attendance is a must to stay on top of the material and more nights are spent studying the massive amounts of information than out drinking like at many other schools. The rigorous course load seems like a lot, but in the end it's worth it to get the degree.

    Berry College is the best school to come to if you're looking to have a relationship with your professors that you cannot get at a big University. At Berry you're not just another number, you're a student, a colleague, and a friend to almost everyone.

    What to do for fun

    Besides academic, Berry has a great outdoors program where there is not just trails but mountains and horseback riding. For Decision Berry, I was able to hike one of the mountains and wished I could do it again, I had a blast. Berry has a wonderful exercise gym where you can go with friends to exercise. Besides the campus, there is downtown Rome where there is shopping and movie theaters and tons of opportunities to have fun on your days off.
    Food and Dining

    The food at Berry College is fantastic, the cafeteria is filled with all different types of food. There is a salad bar and a cereal buffet where freshman especially with the unlimited meal plan can get as much seconds as they wish. Besides the cafeteria, there is a fountain right outside the dining hall where people can eat and enjoy the fresh air.
    Dorm Life

    Based on my tours of the dorms, they are kept tidy and their is enough space for both me and a roommate. The community bathrooms are always clean and their is never a line because, all the girls on my hall will have different class schedules with different hours. The people on my hall will from my guides become good friends and can be there for you like a family.
    Academic Rigor

    From my tours around Berry, I have learned that the teachers really do care about their students. The professors encourage their students as much as they can to ensure that they get the best out of the class. The guides have encouraged me to try my best and to pay attention in class because the professors are given a certain amount of time to learn so much.
    Tips for prospective students

    Plan early at Berry College, try to apply for every scholarship because, you never know what financial aid you can get. When you start to look into Berry, take a tour and go to one of the Decision Berry days where you get a hands on type of prospective for Berry. The most important thing is to make sure that Berry is a right fit for you, get involved and make a difference in any way you can.

    Berry is a school that not only excels in academics but also in sports, and activities. I know that Berry is the right choice for me because, I am able to adventure out and be a part of something larger there. The students and staff have welcomed me with open arms and are dedicated to what they do and how they can leave their mark on the largest campus in the nation.
