Categories Comments Campus Safety Bethel is a small, trusting school in a small, trusting town. The community is very close and kind, and the crime rate is very low.
Greek Life There is no Greek Life on Bethel's campus.
Clubs and Activities Nearly everyone participates in clubs and activities at Bethel in some way. Students are eager to be active about their interests and also to have fun.
Great for these types of students Students that are friendly (introverts or extroverts!), engaging, and eager to learn.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus The trails are very unique to Bethel's campus. They provide opportunity for students to explore, exercise, and appreciate nature all in one place. A few unusual traditions include Lighting of the Green, Winter Gala, and the Bubberts Awards. Lighting of the Green occurs every winter before break. Students light candles and stand in a huge circle around the grass center of campus and sing songs celebrating the season. It is always a beautiful experience. The Winter Gala is a great opportunity for students to dress up like they did for their high school prom, as well as enjoy a delicious meal and wonderful music. The Bubberts Awards occur every spring. Student made films are collected and shown during the awards. Students also dress up for this event, and everyone has a good time.
Bang for the buck Attending Bethel is an unforgettable experience. The lifelong friendships you make and the well-rounded education you receive are well worth the money.
What to do for fun Join any and all activities! Clubs are very active and fun at Bethel, and most people participate somehow. You can also walk the beautiful trails that accompany Bethel's campus, or go to Wichita (a 25 minute drive) for a little more big city excitement.
Food and Dining The food at Bethel is pretty typical for a small college. However, there are a lot of options outside of the main hot meal for students to make their own meals.
Dorm Life Bethel has a very unique but effective system of student housing. For one, students are required to live on campus all four years. Though this seems like an unfair restriction, it is actually very beneficial to the community as a whole. This rule results in a very strong and close community, and the dorm life is very fun! For freshman, doors are often left open to encourage interaction, and upperclassmen have the option of modular style living where nine close friends live together and share a bathroom and lounge area. Overall, dorm life at Bethel is excellent.
Academic Rigor Bethel is known for its rigorous liberal arts curriculum. Each course you take will challenge your mind and encourage you to explore new interests that you might never have had before. The professors are there to teach you in an extremely personal class environment. Bethel College is truly a wonderful way to receive a well-rounded education for any student with a passion for learning.
Tips for prospective students Do not be afraid to immediately jump into any school activity that is presented to you- it is a great way to meet new people who not only share your interests, but will be more than willing to accept you and welcome you into the community at large.
In three sentences Bethel College is a wonderful school to attend. With an extremely supportive and close-knit community, students can easily find lifelong friends that they might even consider family. The basic love of life and friendship found on Bethel's campus is extraordinarily strong.
