Great for these types of students

Those who take their education seriously but also know how to reward themselves for hard work will thrive at Bloomsburg. Like any college town, parties are occuring on any given night; the most successful student will learn how to balance their education and their social life in a way that will provide a full and enjoyable college experience.

    Tips for prospective students

Find a balance between taking college seriously and having fun. College is the next step in moving into the real world, but by the same token you'll never get your college years back again. Branch out, try new things, really discover who you are.

    Bang for the buck

Bloomsburg is especially advantageous for education majors; initially set up as a state school for educating prospective teachers, BU's tradition in education excellence continues. Speech pathology is another strong major - it's one of the top 10 schools on the East Coast for speech pathology. Accounting and Business are also popular.

    Am enjoying being here

The best advice is to get involved. Moving out on your own can be overwhelming, but remember there are 1,000 other students feeling the same way you are. The more connections you make, the busier you are, the less homesick you will feel.

    Am learning a lot

It's really what you put into it. If you go into class thinking, Oh, this is an easy GPA booster that I won't have to work for you're not going to enjoy the class as much as if you actually take an interest in the course material. Get to know your professors! Most of the staff loves their job and wants to reach out and make personal connections with their students.

Great for these types of students

Self-motivated, independent, and achievement-oriented students. Those who want to attend a big university in a small, rural town also may find this campus quite a fit.

    Tips for prospective students

Apply early, be sure to have an outstanding list of extracurricular activities, and maintain at least a B average in your high school classes. It is a very selective school because so many students apply to BU every year, and so, only those who stand out to the admissions committee will be accepted. Be sure to actually visit the campus as well and talk to many students (not just one) currently enrolled to get a broad, unbiased idea of what the campus is like. Once in college, be sure to study often and become involved in your education!

    Bang for the buck

It's a state school in PA, and so, if you are a PA resident, it's pretty cheap. Tuition usually runs at $6,000 a year, including fees associated with it. Even for out of state students, the price to attend here is much cheaper than it is at a lot of other schools. For having many professional accreditations and outstanding academic programs recognized nationally (especially business, chemistry, and education), this is a great price for such an education!

    Am enjoying being here

It's such a beautiful campus with its well-kept grounds, updated classrooms and facilities, and the people are genuinely friendly to you. I felt like I was at home the first time I stepped on campus to visit in my high school year (Fall 2007). So many activities are sponsored by the school and definitely help you come out of your shell.

    Am learning a lot

The professors here are the tops in their fields of study. Nearly all have their terminal Ph.D. degrees, and they have good, credible experience teaching and doing research in the field. They keep up-to-date with all the current research going on, and you are definitely well informed! Best of all, they project the information in such a way that it sticks with you and you actually learn the material to apply in practical situations.

Great for these types of students

Bloomsburg is known for its nursing, education, and medical imaging programs. If you are interested in any of these, this school could be the one for you. Class sizes are variable. There are large lectures and small sized classes for almost all of the courses, so do not fret the stereotypical 300+ student class. For the most part there is usually an alternative.

    Tips for prospective students

    1. If you are a city person, Bloomsburg probably is not the school for you. 2. Give it your best shot! - This is the doorway to your future. The process is worth your effort. 3. Have fun! - Get the college experience. Although studying all the time will help you earn good grades, you are missing out on a great opportunity to open your horizons.

    Bang for the buck

If you are looking for a cheaper alternative to the larger, more expensive universities, but do not want to go to a community college, Bloomsburg is a good choice. The tuition and fees are reasonable for a state school, even with the recent increase of tuition. Bloomsburg does not offer many scholarships to freshmen, but there are exclusive scholarships offered to transfer students and upperclassmen. The majority of them pertain to your declared major. Overall, Bloomsburg is a big bang for the buck.

    Am enjoying being here

The campus is gorgeous without a doubt. The program board schedules activities weekly to offer fun ways to relax and have a good time. If you want to get away from campus there is a park a little over a mile away. Downtown has a variety of shops and restaurants along Main Street. At night, downtown turns into the party scene known to Bloomsburg. Overall, Bloomsburg University has a well rounded availability of activities to keep students busy.

    Am learning a lot

There are many opportunities to learn at Bloomsburg University. Classes pertaining to your major tend to be more interesting than the general education classes. I am a nursing student, and it seems that every nursing related class has an enormous amount of information to learn. The material is worth learning and interested me very much, but if you are not going to apply yourself, the classes become tedious. General education classes seem to drag on if they are not important to you. However, sometimes a class will surprisingly intrigue you.

Great for these types of students

Great for students who want to : teach, be a nurse, major in speech pathology, anthropology, Mass Comm, Comm, and Exercise Science. Great for those who like personal settings; just avoid the lecture halls. Good for those who want to do more than just class-work 100% of their time

    Tips for prospective students

Try and get to know your faculty and the people around you. Having connections at Bloom will help you through a lot of speed bumps. Also try testing out of whatever you can, it'll get you out of the classes you don't need to take because you could pass them easily and in the end save you money and time. Last but not least, get involved with clubs to up your chances of financial aid and take a well-rounded set of classes to make your resume stand out.

    Bang for the buck

This school is super affordable and I'm getting a good education. I'm a commuter and it makes it A LOT cheaper, with grants and scholarships helping me only have to pay about 6,000 out of pocket for a full year. The books can be expensive, but they are easliy found online for much cheaper prices. Bloom is an accredited school that provides some wonderful facilities and classes that would cost three times as much at any other school.

    Am enjoying being here

I love my school. The faculty are very personal and the campus is lovely. There are actually quite a few things to do for it being in a relatively small town. The over-all experience is wonderful. Sometimes the students who don't care and always come to class drunk do get annoying. You will find them at most schools, but Bloom does need to, and is currently, working on that problem.

    Am learning a lot

A lot of people seem to find state schools to be cop-out schools. On the contrary, Bloomsburg does provide challenges for those willing to go for it. Certainly there are those easy-A courses, but the majority of the classes really focus on teaching and helping the student RETAIN information. The faculty are almost all willing and eager to help and even take suggestions. Many of my own professors love to find ways to make class fun and interesting.

Great for these types of students

This college is excellent for any science majors. Bloomsburg University has a vast science and technology program that is both rigorous and worthwhile.

    Tips for prospective students

My main tip for incoming students is to figure out the layout of the campus prior to going there. It makes for a much smoother transition into living there and makes finding classes easier.

    Bang for the buck

Being a state school, it is a cheaper option than private schools. I believe what Bloomsburg included in their bills seems agreeable for what I received there.

    Did enjoy being here

I enjoyed Bloomsburg University a lot. Not only were the classes stimulating, but the campus was beautifully laid out. I likewise enjoyed the community inside the university itself. The network of faculty and staff are all so helpful and are always willing to answer questions.

    Did learn a lot

The classes here are very information packed. I definitely learned a vast majority of what I believe to be useful information at Bloomsburg University. The information from one class seemed to correspond with other classes I was taking and reinforced learning those concepts.

    Tips for prospective students

The best tip I can give to new students is to get involved. Whatever it is you may be interested in, find the organization and join. If there isn't already a group related to your interests, you can always start your own. Take advantage of this time in your life when you are no longer stuck under your parents but aren't yet out all alone. Try new things, make new friends, and just get involved.

    Bang for the buck

As a part of the Pennsylvania State School System, Bloomsburg offers a very affordable tuition. Additionally, there are many different grants and scholarships that incoming student can apply for to ease the costs of tuition and housing. While it may not carry the same prestige associated with some of the larger or better-known schools, the education received is still of an excellent quality.

    Am enjoying being here

Despite its out of the way location, there is always something to do in the general area. The various groups, clubs, and organizations on campus hold a multitude of events throughout the semester, offering cheap or even free forms of entertainment. Additionally, life in the residence halls is perfect for fostering new friendships and really offers a sense of community within your floor or throughout your building.

    Am learning a lot

The professors are very knowledgeable in their respective fields. In my experience, if a student asks a question that the professor can not answer, most professors will be willing to research the question and return with an answer at a later time. Unlike some larger schools, classes are not taught by graduate students, but solely by professors. These professors are not just committed to educating the students, but are just as determined to continue expanding their own horizons, creating an incredible learning environment.

Great for these types of students

This college was made for students that are willing to do what ever it takes to succeed. Students have to be prepared for anything. Setting goals for yourself is a great way to achieve them with no problem. Time management is also important. Having a daily planner and a calendar can also help you finish things on time. If you are willing to participate and join the movement, then this is the school for you!

    Tips for prospective students

For all students who would like to attend this university, I say, be prepared for anything. There is much to learn starting out as a freshmen but there are also people that are there to help. If you find yourself struggling, you can apply for tutoring and visit your professor for extra help during office hours. You have to be ready to learn and determine to accomplish anything!

    Bang for the buck

Bloomsburg University is definitely not an expensive school compared to others. Financial aid plays a big role for your college tuition. They also offer scholarships! Paying for books can be a hassle sometimes so they provide a book loan in the beginning of the semester to buy books that you need for class and they will take it out of your refund check. It's amazing what they can do to help you. Some people say that meal plans are expensive but it is totally worth every penny! You can select your meal plan to what is affordable for you!

    Am enjoying being here

I love being at Bloomsburg University. When its Christmas break or Thanksgiving break, I am always so eager to return back to Bloomsburg University. I met new people and professors. The food is really good and the environment is a natural clean feeling. Sometimes the weather can be unpredictable, but overall it's amazing. There are activities going on all the time and there are plenty of groups to join such as Gospel Choir, Program Board, Fraternities, Sororities, Sports, Band, etc. There is so much to do on campus!

    Am learning a lot

At Bloomsburg University, I have learned so much for my first semester. It is a blessing to wake up every morning and going to class, knowing that you are going to get the education needed to succeed. The professors are willing to work with you and help you become a better student. Every class is equipped with a professor that is able to teach you the necessary material needed to pass. I've learned a lot from not only my major classes but also from general education classes. My high school did not prepare me for this so it was a challenge, but I am catching on and learning a lot!

Great for these types of students

Hard working and goal oriented students. This is a pretty large campus but the community is like a small town family, so if you grew up in a small town, then this is the place for you. And also, like any college, there are parties, but if you learn how to balance your studies and your social life, your college years will be very beneficial.

    Tips for prospective students

The number one piece of advice for students is to get involved! Being a freshman in a new place away from home can be very intimidating. But remember, every freshman is feeling the same way. By getting involved and making friends, you will lose that anxiety and find that these years are the best times of your life, Another tip would be to study hard. Because you have more time on your hands, you need to learn how to manage it. Every major at Bloomsburg is competitive and requires a lot of hard work and a certain GPA, especially for students in the health care and education fields. Take time to study a little everyday and you will find that you will be a lot less stressed come the night before the test. Also, don't freak out after the first test in each class. Every professor tests differently and you need different study techniques for each class. Before the semester starts, ask around to see how other students studied for that class. Sometimes it is better to use flashcards for one class, while it is better to read the book for another. Once you take the first test, you will have a better idea of how to study for that particular class.

    Bang for the buck

This is a state University so it is relatively cheap. As a PA citizen you have more of an advantage as well. The books can be pretty expensive but because the professors put their requirements online about 2 months before the semester starts, a lot of students try to find cheaper prices on sites such as amazon or ebay. Bloomsburg is an accredited school that offers a wide variety of majors. The two most popular are probably Education and Speech Pathology. If you are interested in Speech Pathology/Audiology, Bloomsburg has one of the top accredited programs for both a bachelors and a masters degree. Bloomsburg is also a great school for those requiring financial aid. They also offer many work study positions each semester that I would highly recommend you look into.

    Am enjoying being here

During my freshman year, I had a difficult time adjusting being away from home. After joining a few clubs and organizations, I felt more at ease and now, entering my junior year, I never want to leave. There are so many things to get involved in and I love all of the classes I have taken. The campus is beautiful and the best part is, you can set your classes up so that you can have free time to hang out on the quad, go to the gym or play Frisbee on the lawn. There are also a lot of places available to live in. After living in the dorms, I decided to live in one of the University On Campus apartments which meant I got my own room. There are 4 apartment complexes on campus that are walking distance to the school as well as many rented apartment spaces downtown that are also within walking distance. Bloomsburg offers so many options to students regarding classes, organizations, sports as well as living areas.

    Am learning a lot

Every class I have taken so far I have gained knowledge both for my professional career as well as for the real world. The teachers are very personable and are willing to help you understand any way they can. Not only do they hold office hours, but they also offer their email addresses and phone numbers so they can readily help with any questions a student has. Bloomsburg offers a variety of classes and the curriculum allows students to chose classes they want to take, just for fun, along with the required courses for each major.

Great for these types of students

Students who like diversity and parties will definitely prosper.

    Tips for prospective students

Make sure you check all of your options and do not pick a school just because your friends will be going there as well. Pick the correct school for you and no one else; be selfish in the college process.

    Bang for the buck

It is a good school, depending on who you are and what your personality is like. I like it but I am looking to transfer and I'm still only a freshman going into my second semester.

    Am enjoying being here

I like Bloomsburg, but at the same time I do not love it as much as I believed I would. Many of my friends have agreed; there is not much to do on campus. The school is very diverse which is refreshing after being in an all white middle and high school.

    Am learning a lot

I personally am learning all that I can and mostly all professors are willing to help their students. The biggest downside is the new professors, who are inexperienced and are very difficult to learn from and get extra help from. I teach myself some of the material that I need to in order to comprehend it better to do better on the quizzes and exams. Overall, I learned all that I could in the various classes that I partook in.

    Campus Safety

Bloomsburg is a safe town. I've never felt unsafe walking alone.

    Greek Life

It exists. You see events around campus promoting greek life along with various community service activities. It does not dominate the campus however and no one will judge you if you join greek life or don't.

    Clubs and Activities

I've only done marching band here which was only okay. I've heard great things about other clubs and activities though.

Great for these types of students

Bloomsburg is great for just about anyone. The campus community is very diverse. You could be a nerd, gamer, partier, or athlete and always fit in. It's not like highschool, everyone is nice and accepting here. (For the most part.) Do note if your only interest is partying here, you will have to make some lifestyle changes to adapt to the academic rigor.

    Bang for the buck

As an out of state student from New Jersey, BU is still cheaper than most NJ state universities. Given the quality of education at bloomsburg, it's (mostly) modern facilities, and general college atmosphere I'm surprised at how inexpensive bloomsburg is.

    What to do for fun

There is a lot to do here. Whether you want to party or not, there is always something happening. If you go looking for a party, you will find one. If you want to stay in with a couple of friends and watch netflix, surely you will find others doing that to do. In town there are also multiple restaurants, a movie theater, and shops.

    Food and Dining

It's hit or miss eating in the main dining hall. (Scranton Commons.) Some days they have good food, sometimes they don't. Thankfully there is a lot of variety if you end up getting bored of the Commons. For instance you can eat at Italian Kitchen, Subway, Monty's (in upper campus), or The Husky using your meal plan.

    Dorm Life

As a transfer I got to live in an on campus apartment my first semester here. So I have no complaints. But I have friends who live in dorms and their only complaint is noise. However, depending on your CA (some are more strict than others) that might not be an issue.

    Academic Rigor

As a business major I take difficult classes. It's not easy but the professors make it worth it. Also the nearly 100% graduation placement rate gives you some incentive to pass your classes too. ;) As for gen eds, those aren't too hard but you will still pickup information from them. Overall you get a well rounded education coming to Bloomsburg and the professors will make you work for your grade.

    Tips for prospective students

Bloomsburg is selective and its getting more competitive every year with its high number of applicants. The biggest factor when it comes to the admissions decision is GPA so keep that high along with your SAT scores. Also, visit every campus that you apply to. One of the main reasons I choose Bloomsburg was because the campus just felt right.

    In three sentences

Bloomsburg University, BU in short, is a challenging but fun college experience. After applying to 10 schools and getting accepted to them all, Bloom was my first choice, and I couldn't have made a better decision.

Great for these types of students

Bloomsburg University is great for people who live in rural areas and want to go to somewhere a little bit bigger but not too dramatic of a change. For athletes, Bloomsburg is especially well known for their softball, but all of our sports are very good. It's good for students who don't mind the exercise because for freshman without cars, you'll be walking up and down hills.

    Tips for prospective students

Some advice for prospective students would definitely be do NOT procrastinate. Professors do care about you and will help you out in any way, but they are not your mom or dad who tell you to do your homework or read the notes. You are on your own once you begin college, so take full responsibility and get work done. I would highly recommend trying to get a job either on-campus or off campus. You'll shortly realize living off your parent's dollars doesn't help all the time and extra spending money is a plus! Do NOT get caught up in partying all the time. I have seen so many people who never drank, go to college and start failing classes because of too much partying. Manage your time wisely.

    Bang for the buck

If you are a state resident, it's very cheap. It's also pretty cheap for out-of-state residents compared with other schools I've looked at. There is a lot offered here beyond a great education. There are many clubs and activities available as well as an awesome recreation center. The dorms are definitely living condition and the food is very good as well. There are multiple food places to eat on campus as well in town.

    Am enjoying being here

Bloomsburg is a wonderful campus. It's a beautiful campus surrounded by hills. Unless your a city-type of person and absolutely cannot stand to be anywhere else, you'll enjoy Bloomsburg. I like how the campus is on hills because it helps from gaining that dreadful freshman fifteen. I like Bloomsburg because I've met great people, the academic buildings are all pretty much in one spot, and there's just enough things in town to do to keep you occupied.

    Am learning a lot

All the professors I've had for my summer session and fall semester were great. Mass lectures were difficult to get the one-on-one action if you DIDN'T reach out. I had two mass lectures, one where I was struggling in but I went to the professor and she helped me out. After my first semester, I felt so good because I knew I was actually learning and not just remembering things like I did in high school. The school work isn't difficult either as long as you go to class and do the reading. The people who say that college is so much harder are the people who slack off and procrastinate. And don't be scared for finals week because it's just like taking any other exam except you need to study more in advance.

    Campus Safety

They have safety phones everywhere but there have been a few rumors of rape, actual muggings, and fights.

    Bang for the buck

I feel like the meal plans are too expensive because there is not enough varieties and a lot of people either get a really good meal or just go for dessert.

    What to do for fun

Some fun things to do is go to the gym with friends which usually entails working out, our playing a team sport game. Sometimes people play Frisbee in the quad. Sometimes the Community Advisers make programs like pie eating contests, or glass painting.

    Food and Dining

For the most part the food is average. The Scranton Commons has its really good day and its really bad days. The Husky Lounge has the same old things so it gets boring sometimes. However, Monty's is the best, especially on Wednesday nights which is restaurant night.

    Dorm Life

It is great to live in the dorm. You meet a lot of people, you can stay up in the lounges and have movie nights or study. But the bathrooms can sometimes get a little gross.

    Academic Rigor

The classes and materials are great. The problem is the inconsistency in the grading and the professors.

    Tips for prospective students

1.) Live in the dorms for a year or two 2.) Join a Living & Learning Community 3.) Take General courses seriously

    In three sentences

I rate the school a little above average. The University has a beautiful campus. However, the town sucks and the night life sucks.

Great for these types of students

I am transferring from a community college and might be considered an non traditional student. I would say that Bloomsburg is great for incoming freshmen because as a transfer I had some difficulty finding housing because as a transfer there was no on campus housing available but there is most definitely housing available for freshmen. I would encourage any incoming transfer students to start their housing search as soon as possible and not get discouraged because some times there are openings at the last minute. The school provided a contact list of local landlords and I found this resource most helpful in my search.

    Tips for prospective students

I would definitely encourage students to get involved and to get outside of their comfort zone. If at all possible, try to get off campus at some point and get involved in the community. It makes for a much more enjoyable and well rounded experience.

    Bang for the buck

As a Pennsylvania resident, Bloomsburg is a state university so it offers the best prices on tuition and they are very knowledgeable at the financial aid office and gave me a great estimate of how much aid I might expected to receive. Bloomsburg is a state university but it is also state accredited so I know that not only am I getting value but I know that I am also getting a quality education.

    Will enjoy being here

The area is beautiful at Bloomsburg. There is the scenic views of the mountains that makes me feel at home but there are all the amenities that you want to have in a small town. I am really excited to start exploring the area.

    Will learn a lot

I am going to be entering the education program and I am really excited because I know that the program is top notch at Bloomsburg. The school has a lot of effort put in place to help you find employment after graduation.

Bloomsburg doesn't give many academic scholarships out to freshmen, but beginning sophomore year there are many opportunities for scholarships. The school has pretty much all the majors somebody could think of. You will receive an excellent education from the school and will not regret going to Bloomsburg University!

    Tips for prospective students

The best tip is to get involved. Getting involved will not only help you adapt to the college life, it will also look good on your resume when you go to find a job after college. Don't allow the pressures of alcohol get to you.

    Bang for the buck

Bloomsburg is a Pennsylvania state school so the cost is very affordable. You definitely get your moneys' worth. There are many places throughout the campus to study at or use computers. The dorms are nice and comfortable to live in.

    Am enjoying being here

I love Bloomsburg and its' beautiful campus. There are so many opportunities for people to get involved with. If there isn't a club made in something somebody is interested in there is a form that can be filled out to create that club. The best way to adapt to college life is to get involved with the school. Branch out and you will succeed.

    Am learning a lot

Bloomsburg is a great university. The professors are very good at what they are teaching and if somebody doesn't understand, they are always willing to explain it better. I'm really enjoying the education that I have so far received at Bloomsburg. There are so many diverse classes that you can take and all the professors are nice.

    Bang for the buck

The food services, and on campus housing programs lack greatly. Everything is over priced, and not of the highest quality. Also, the staff sometimes are not as helpful as they say they are. Overall, I feel that for the amount one pays to already go to school, better quality things shouldn't be to hard to manage.

    Am enjoying being here

I really do like being at Bloomsburg, although sometimes the staff is incompetent and takes forever to help you with what needs to be done (like scheduling, finding out grades, getting financial aid, etc) The professors for the most part seem to be very personable.

    Am learning a lot

I have learned so much in my area of interest since coming to Bloomsburg. They offer not just general classes, but classes that talk in depth about things you are most interested in, or the things that apply to your specific concentration.

    Tips for prospective students

    Am enjoying being here

I enjoy my College because I meant so many students and professors who teach me about myself everyday. The experienced is very overwhelming and I am enjoying every bit.

    Am learning a lot

I am learning a lot about myself as a student I learned how to become a student to the best of my abilities. When I was a freshmen I did not realize all of the opportunities college has in store for me because I was not sure on what kind of career I want for myself. Now that I am a Junior in college I finally know that I want to be social worker and a sign language interpreter. I am so motivated to accomplishing my goal. School has taught me what kind of person I am from all the classes I attended. I love to help people and learning from them. I want to show Bloomsburg University my appreciation by raising my GPA. This semester was the first step my GPA for fall semester was a 3.5.

Great for these types of students

This is a great school for someone who doesn't mind being on campus most of the time due to its location. Plus, it is really strong in its speech pathology and special education.

    Bang for the buck

Though it is a lot of money, it is actually cheaper for me to go there rather than an in state college here in NJ. I think they did well with the price, but it is still a struggle to pay for tuition considering the amount of people in my family. I think I made the right choice in the university though.

    Am enjoying being here

I love it here, the only issue i can think of is that many people go home on the weekends. Another thing that i think is a problem, is that the health center is not open on the weekends. Therefore, if a student is sick then they have to walk to the emergency room at Bloomsburg hospital.

    Am learning a lot

I learn a lot in my college courses, especially the ones regarding my majors. My special Ed courses are very informative and really hands on with the learning. Also, i love my psychology class. It comes really easy to me, plus the professor I have makes it a lot easier to understand all the concepts and studies.

    Campus Safety

The campus is much safer than most. Every town has its problems though, and as long as you stay off the streets after 2am, you'll generally never run into any problems. Most of the issues involve drunk fights/other altercations.

    Greek Life

Greek life is huge. If you're into that kind of thing, the world is your oyster. If you don't, they still have fun parties!

    Clubs and Activities

For a small school there are a ton of clubs. Greek life is really big on this campus, as well as volunteering. Most of the academic departments also have organizations that are very active.

Great for these types of students

If you like the city life, this school is not for you. However, if you don't mind making your own fun, there are a lot of good times to be had in this little town.

Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus

Block party! It's the one day of the year that it's ok to act like a total fool. For any geocachers out there, Bloomsburg is completely covered with awesome caching opportunities.

    Bang for the buck

It's an inexpensive school, and it doesn't cost a lot to have fun here. If you can balance fun and work, you'll have a great time.

    What to do for fun

For the underage crowd, the fun seems to be limited to parties and on campus activities. There are a bunch of places that accept volunteers and a bunch of clubs you can join. There's also a hookah bar in town, and the one bar has a 18+ night that gets to be pretty crowded. After 21, there are a bunch of bars that do karaoke and trivia nights. I love the night life here, and nearly prefer it to the nightlife in the city.

    Food and Dining

I LOVE the food here. For such a small school, there are a ton of options. There is a traditional cafeteria with a constantly changing menu, a few cafes, some coffee shops, and a pizza restaurant right on campus. If you go into town, the options are even better. For a small town there is a plethora of options. From burritos to Chinese to Italian, there is something for everyone.

    Dorm Life

From what I've heard, the dorms are not too bad. I know that the upper campus apartments are absolutely beautiful. However, I was a transfer student and started my life here living in a house. That being said, the off campus options for housing are fantastic.

    Academic Rigor

This completely depends on the major. The speech pathology and audiology program is extremely competitive and challenging, but the outside classes are not nearly as difficult. Like with anything else, it is what you make of it. There is no excuse to get bad grades if you are willing to put in the time and effort to study and do decent work.

    Tips for prospective students

Know your professors. The classes are somewhat challenging as you work your way through the major, but the professors are generally helpful. The campus is absolutely beautiful and very student friendly. Once you're 21, the entire town opens up. The nightlife here is fantastic, and the bars are comparable to the ones in bigger cities with both price and amount of fun.

    In three sentences

Bloomsburg is what you make of it. If you get involved and are active in the community and on campus, you'll have a great time. If you're looking for city life and constant activity, this school is probably not for you.

    Campus Safety

I have always felt safe here. There are some incidents that happen like any school, but I have never encountered anything. For the most part, the school is small enough that students really get along and get to know each other. There is university police available at all times for any problems or situations that may arise.

    Greek Life

The school does offer sororities and fraternities that students can be involved in.

    Clubs and Activities

There are so many clubs and activities to get involved in for any major or any hobby. I am an education major, and I am involved in three different education organizations and those aren't all of the ones on campus. The school has so much to offer in this area.

    Bang for the buck

Bloomsburg University is a state school, so I think you get more bang for your buck. The tuition is not as expensive as some state schools, and you are offered the same education.

    What to do for fun

The school offers so much to do for fun. There are clubs and organizations to get involved in for all majors. There are also many community service opportunities at the school. Each year, they put on a big event where the students give back to the community by doing different services for them. There are intramural sports teams for many sports that anyone can sign up for, and the recreation center has so many opportunities to get in shape and have fun at the same time. There is an academic quad where several students will play games on. The school also offers bingo nights and free pizza at midnight one Friday night a month.

    Food and Dining

I really liked the food and dining at Bloomsburg University. Each place had something for everyone. There is a grill section, a home section for comfort foods, a vegetarian section, a deli section, and a pasta section. There is also always a salad bar and a dessert bar which features many desserts and homemade ice cream, which is always a favorite! And of course, you can eat as much as you like.

    Dorm Life

The dorms at Bloomsburg University have been recently renovated and are nice, but many times freshman students will be tripled in one dorm because the school accepts so many students. This was something that really bothered me because the dorms are small enough as is. Besides that, they are comfortable and are close to the food and class buildings.

    Academic Rigor

Bloomsburg University takes academics very seriously, but the school tries its hardest to get students involved in activities that are going on. This is because the school understands that academics need to be balanced with fun and socialization in order to be successful. The faculty has high expectations for all students and strives to see every student succeed.

    Tips for prospective students

Be sure to visit any campus before choosing whether or not it is the right place for you because everyone has different wants and tastes. Speak with faculty and staff and get a feel for their willingness to help because you want to be in a school that will work to help you in any way.

    In three sentences

Bloomsburg University has always been willing to make career dreams come to life. The faculty and staff are more than happy to help, with a smile on their faces, and the campus itself is small, beautiful, and like home. Campus life leaves nothing to be desired as there is always something going on for everyone to be involved and make his or her experience as memorable as possible.

I think at times the rec center can seem a little far for some people that are off campus and in certain dorms.

    What to do for fun

There are many things to do for fun on and off of campus. The rec center offers raquetball, basketball, open track, volleyball, weightlifting, rock wall climbing, etc. The campus hosts many diverse events and activities like dances, greek life events, bingo, live bands, etc.

    Tips for prospective students

One tip I would give would be to make sure to declare a major when enrolling into Bloomsburg because a many majors are hard to get into and often have waiting lists. Another tip would be to make sure that your chosen program has everything you need to graduate.

    In three sentences

on a scale of 1-10 with 10 being the best, I would rate Bloomsburg University a 7. The University has many great programs for each major provided. Even though it is not an Ivy League school it is still an excellent university.

Bloomsburg is a very safe town, it's almost a litte too boring hah. Unfotunately sometimes at night there are muggings or attacks. You should be pefrecly fine if you have a travel buddy at night and don't walk alone.

    Bang for the buck

Bloomsburg has one of the best gyms I have ever seen at a college. They have two hugh workout rooms, one is an exercise room with treadmills, bicycles, and stairmasters. The other is a gym with free weights, squat racks, and weight lifting machines. There is also a huge indoor track surrounding a basketball court, it's great when you want to get cardio in during the winter.

    What to do for fun

They have an auditorium which plays movies on huge screen weeks before they even come out! It's a dark room which has movie theaters seats and it only costs a dollar. Midnight pizza is the best thing on campus pizza from every restaurant is town served fresh on a huge table all you can eat! The best part is it's free with your student ID.

    Food and Dining

The commons is the go to place on campus to get something to eat. Everyday they have mouth watering burgers, hot dogs, chicken sandwhiches, and fries cooked on the grill. Their is also a hugh condiment station to make your sandwich look juicy.

    Dorm Life

I'm going to be honest the first time you get into your room it's going to be small hah. The experience you get in the dorms can't be matched you always can walk across the hall into your friends rooms when you are bored. !0 kids will crowd into a dorm room have popcorns and drinks watching a movie together. Your dorm hall really feels like one huge family.

    Academic Rigor

Professors may seem intimidating at first, but they were once students like you they're your friend not your enemies. One thing they POSITIVELY hate is students texting and talking to their friends. It appears as thought their teaching style is boring and you don't want to be there. Bottom line is if you give 110 percent there is no way you should earn less than a B.

    Tips for prospective students

Always make sure you balance your time here, don't become to caught up in school and don't become too caught up in the social life. You only get 4 years at this place make sure your make every minute count. 4 years your going to look back and think did I have the best years of my life or, did I just go through the motions.

    Academic Rigor

They are very serious about their academics. Students must pride in academic success. Generally, students have hg GPAs.

    What to do for fun

There are many activities to do on campus. Advertisments and events everywhere. There are a lot of groups/ clubs/ greek life. Hot spots: The keur union, game room, rec center, quad. Choose to get involved and you'll never have a dull moment.

    Food and Dining

Food and dining is okay for while until you get used to eating the same things. Mostly fast food. What's not fast food is dry and tasteless.

    Dorm Life

The dorms need to be upgraded there not too shabby. It's convenient to live on campus (socailizing, getting to class). The dorms have a nice security system. Roommate selection is everything! There are rules to follow.

    Academic Rigor

    Time consuming and very challenging.

    Tips for prospective students

    Study, Study, Study !

    Clubs and Activities

I play intramural soccer and it's a blast. It gives me time away from my school work and a place to let some steam blow off.

Great for these types of students

This college is great for anyone!

    Bang for the buck

    It's expensive.

    What to do for fun

There is all sorts of things you can do for fun. For example, you can play sports. Also, you can go to shows that the clubs organize for the students, like the hypnotist.

    Food and Dining

The food is good, but there are no healthy choices. I wish there were more fish and vegetables. I would rate this as a three star.

    Dorm Life

Dorm life isn't as bad as everyone makes it out to be. The worst part is the shared bathrooms. I would rate this four out of five stars.

    Academic Rigor

Some of the classes are difficult, but you just have to work through them and study hard. It is challenging just enough to make you a well-rounded individual. I would give it 5 stars.

    Tips for prospective students

Get to know everyone you can. Study hard. Go to the student recreation center to stay in shape!

It is a phenomenal school. You can meet so many new people and do some many new things. Their speech-path program is very competitive and successful.

    Bang for the buck

As stated earlier... AMAZING price that's pretty much unbeatable. Good programs for such a low price.

    What to do for fun

The mall here absolutely sucks. Like I thought it couldn't be that bad, but it really is. There's a movie theater, bowling alley (open only Friday and Saturday), a small comic shop, Walmart, Gamestop, and a theatre for plays in the town. The university gets a lot of great professional groups in for concerts and shows throughout the year and shows movies pre-DVD release. Other than that, standard college fun stuff.

    Food and Dining

Our dining hall is good, but the best part about the dining plans is that we have a Subway, 2 Starbucks, an Italian Kitchen, Monty's (sells mostly Mexican style dishes) and a place called the Husky (like fast food, home meals, deli sandwiches) all at which you can use your meal swipes and FLEX dollars.

    Dorm Life

Standard dorms. Not a big deal, but the upper campus apartments are pretty nice. Good space in both campus apartments and dorms; however, freshmen tend to get tripled (3 people in a double room). It sucks, but it's to guarantee housing for people so it's a good thing in the grand scope of things.

    Academic Rigor

The curriculum here is nothing too extreme, but it will challenge you enough to make it worth your money. Do your work and it's a breeze, but you will learn new things.

    Tips for prospective students

College is even easier than high school if you just buckle down and do it. Have fun but know when you need to get stuff done. And on another note, it's a nice and quaint little town. If you attend please try to keep it that way.

    In three sentences

Great environment of a small school that's pretty personalized to your wants. The college is nothing to brag about, but it is definitely a good school. The price is almost unbeatable for a university if you want something cheaper go to community college.

There's not a day that goes by that I don't see a cop and/or campus security person out and about.

    Greek Life

There's an active Greek life on campus, each sorority or frat with their own house.

    Clubs and Activities

There are more clubs and activities than anyone could know what to do with.

Great for these types of students

Great for students who want to try new things, but don't want to be overwhelmed by a huge and/or city campus.

    Bang for the buck

College is always expensive, but Bloom is a state school which makes it cheaper. Bloom does a great job of teaching their students and making sure they get hands on learning when necessary or helpful.

    What to do for fun

Bloom has numerous clubs and activities. If you don't want to be tied down to a schedule there's always random events going on in the dorms and community buildings. Trips are planned and available to students, such as NYC or Hershey Park. The rec is large and has space for basketball, volleyball, racketball, dance, boxing, and the traditional workout. It also includes a climbing wall.

    Food and Dining

As an upper campus resident I mostly cook for myself. I eat campus food very rarely, but its decent quality. I think no matter what school you go to the food will get tiresome after a while. Luckily Bloom offers a variety of places to eat on campus so you can change it up when one gets old.

    Dorm Life

I live in an apartment and have not experienced the dorm life very much. Apartments are convenient and comfortable, but can be isolating. The dorms I've been in have been inviting.

    Academic Rigor

Courses are challenging but not impossible. You have to study, but it pays off.

    Tips for prospective students

Get involved in what's happening on campus, but don't get yourself so busy that you have no time for yourself. Upper campus living is comfortable, however it can be isolating.

    In three sentences

Bloomsburg University is a beautiful campus infused with cultural diversity. Sometimes, as a transfer student, the amount of people can become overwhelming, but the size also allows for numerous opportunities. The classroom experience has been refreshing, as they require hard work, but A's are achievable.

    What to do for fun

For fun I go out to parties, socialize and things like that. I also play intramural sports such as basketball, flag football, and volleyball. There are a fair amount of groups to join that can be entertaining.

    Food and Dining

The food is good, it is not as bad as you think college food would be. Some places other than the Commons can be a little expensive.

    Dorm Life

I like the dorm life, people are easy to communicate with. It is a friendly and fun place to be in. There are designated places for studying too.

    Academic Rigor

The classes that I am in are hard being in an Engineering Major. Some other classes can be at a more relaxed pace, but a lot of classes require actual work to do.

    Tips for prospective students

They're everywhere. They don't miss a thing, and if you need them they'll be there very quickly. They take their jobs very seriously, as they should, and they are very friendly and helpful.

    Greek Life

Greek life is amazing. All of my friends are involved in greek life and they love it. I plan on joining a sorority as well. I've done my research and it is such a great experience and you do so many fun benefits and community service projects.

    Clubs and Activities

So many amazing clubs and activities to join. I am in the biology and chemistry club and I love them. There are also other clubs for any kind of interest you may have. Also, if you have an idea for any clubs they are very open to working with you to make it happen.

    Bang for the buck

Absolutely. It's such great education system. I transferred from a school where I was paying over $40,000 more to get a mediocre education and here it's a lot cheaper and I get what my moneys worth and more. Also, with dining and such, it's not too expensive and it's worth whatever money you spend.

    What to do for fun

Join one of the many many clubs on campus. Greek life is also a great opportunity to get involved with a group of people who are just like you and to help get your mind off of school work for a while. Also, there are recreational areas on campus for ping pong and other various activities and there are activities planned for students on weekends.

    Food and Dining

So many different options on campus to eat. There's a starbucks to get morning coffee before class, which is always nice. The lines in all dining areas always move quickly as well and the food options are always delicious and healthy.

    Dorm Life

I don't live on campus but my friends dorms are awesome and I spend a lot of time there and there never seems to be any issues and everyone gets along.

    Academic Rigor

Amazing. If you're struggling professors are always available for help. During classes they make sure everyone understands before moving on and never have a problem with repeating things to ensure maximum understanding. Tutors are also available for courses in case you're struggling.

    Tips for prospective students

I just transferred to this school and it was the best decision I could've made. I feel welcome everywhere I go and everyone is so friendly. The professors care about you individually and the class as a whole and there are tons of activities you can get involved in on campus.

    In three sentences

A very good educational system. All of the professors take interest in individual learning. I wouldn't want to be anywhere else.

    Campus Safety

The campus is pretty safe. It's not very well lit, but there are blue emergency buttons all over the place. Campus police are always driving around and they are real police officers.

    Greek Life

There are lots of frats and sororities here, but you usually have to have at least 12 credits or so to rush.

    Clubs and Activities

Other than greek life and sports, there aren't many other clubs for a wide variety of people.

Great for these types of students

Bloomsburg is great for students who like small towns with lots of college students. It is definitely a college atmosphere, but it could be easy to get lost in the crowd.

    What to do for fun

Lots of people here go out on the weekends. Other than that, there are plenty of places to eat and Wal-Mart. The other half of the people here go home for the weekend. There are events on campus sometimes, though, like movies, midnight pizza, and bingo.

    Food and Dining

There are not many healthy choices unless you want to eat a salad at every meal. However, if you like fried food, you'll have no problem here. The food at the commons is turned out for quantity not quality, but the desserts are good.

    Dorm Life

The dorms are pretty nice. Most everything is updated.

    Academic Rigor

The classes here are very good, and there are a lot of interesting choices. Most of the professors are very passionate about teaching you the material. However, sometimes the students don't seem to care much about their grades.

    Tips for prospective students

The food is not really that good, but there are edible choices. If you're going to the gym and live in the dorms, prepare for a pretty long walk. The gym facilities are very nice though. The dorms are actually pretty nice, but the wifi in the rooms, especially on smartphones, is very spotty.

    In three sentences

Bloomsburg University has such a beautiful campus with pretty many activities. There are a lot of students here, so talking to people is a must. Everything is easy to find, but there is a lot of walking involved.

    Campus Safety

There are numerous buttons around campus that, if pressed call a on-campus police officer. The Bloomsburg University police are the fastest responding cops I have ever seen although they are not often called.

    Clubs and Activities

There are so many different clubs that are always welcoming new members.

Great for these types of students

Students that want a great education, but know how to balance fun and work are great student for Bloomsburg. If a student currently isn't good at that, then there are mentors and advisors that are there to help with those skills.

    Bang for the buck

For one of the cheapest schools in the area, Bloomsburg has a near unlimited selection on majors, minors, classes, clubs, and events.

    What to do for fun

There are numerous clubs, organizations, events, and sports that can be joined just by walking on.

    Food and Dining

Walking the campus and asking about food may show a pattern that about half dislike the main cafeteria while the other half do. After visiting many different schools and eating in their cafeteria, I can honestly say that Bloomsburg's is the best. And if someone doesn't like the main cafeteria, there are three other restaurants on campus that close at midnight.

    Dorm Life

Although the dorms may feel a little crowded at times, it usually works out in the end. Being close to classes and farther from the gym and game room and the main cafeteria was a smart placement.

    Academic Rigor

The professors are very passionate about the subject that they teach and try their hardest for complete student understanding. Not only do they promote attending their office hours, but they also give instructions about where to get an excellent tutor for the subject that the school provides.

    Tips for prospective students

It is best to bring heavy clothes as well as summer clothes all year because the weather and temperature can drastically change daily. Attending the on campus activities are the greatest way to meet new people as well as build a resume.

    In three sentences

Bloomsburg is a great school to go to because I am not one-hundred percent sure on what major I wish to earn a bachelors for. Thanks to all of the different majors to choose from I have a large number of options to choose from. Also, the school isn't big enough to have 400 student classes so the professors can really care about me individually.
