    Come in with a mind set that you have a goal, and that is graduation; you do not want to allow anyone or anything to stand in your way. Allow your self to enjoy the campus and make friends, because it can truly be a rewarding experience, but keep in mind what your end goal is.

    Bowie State is a cheaper alternative for a Historically Black College. Always ask about tutoring and ways to get involved in the University.

    Turn in all official university paperwork, such as financial aid and housing,early. Administration can be slow, unorganized, and sometimes they even misplace your information. To mitigate bumps in the road, make copies of everything you turn in and regularly check for updates on information that requires a response from the university.

    Beware of the New Student Center. It can get very busy and hectic in there. Try not to take you're time eating, because there is so much to do and see. Be careful who you talk to; not everyone out there is going to be nice to you. Do not leave your personal items unattended. I once lost my calculator, but lucky, I had put my name on it before time and I received it back. Not everyone will do that.
