Great for these types of students

Great for students coming from smaller to medium sized communities. Especially if they are looking to go to a larger city after graduation. It is a good transition size.

    Tips for prospective students

Know that it is a notorious party school. If you are not ready for that type of an atmosphere, then it might not be the best place for you.

    Bang for the buck

In comparison to the private school I was looking at, this is much more financially responsible as a choice. There are a lot of good things on campus that the money goes towards, and they all enhance the college experience.

    Am enjoying being here

I love the size of the campus. Its just big enough that there are many different opportunities, but small enough that instructors actually get to know you as more than a number.

    Am learning a lot

I have learned a lot, but it has been tarnished by a few professors who are not as sympathetic to first year students' struggles while adjusting to college life/schoolwork/expectations.

    All Majors

    Tips for prospective students

Just make friends, fill out scholarships, and make the best of the options given to you.

    Bang for the buck

All of the food places around BGSU offer discounts so it very affordable for college students. There are many places such as BW3s and Dairy Queen. The school also offers a lot of scholarships and it sometimes leads to people getting BIG refund checks.

    Am enjoying being here

BGSU campus is not too small or too big. Its not a very urban environment but, if you just want to escape to the city sometimes you can go to Toledo its only 20 minutes away. I have many friends and I love my dorm.

    Am learning a lot

BGSU has great entering freshman programs that help you learn and understand a lot about the campus. It also is good for undecided students and it helps you find your major quicker. There are also many places that offer free tutoring and the teachers are very accessible.

    Tips for prospective students

You will enjoy this school's nice environment but the freedom can cause you to loose focus so stay in tune.

Great for these types of students

This school is great for students that want a middle of the road school based on size.

    Tips for prospective students

Keep whatever information they give you at orentation. You can actually use a lot of it. To make it feel more at home join a club, team, or group.

    Bang for the buck

    Always fill out your FAFSA

    Am enjoying being here

It is a fun place to be but if you need a big city life this really isn't the place. However, there are many places on campus available to students. I love going to the rec for hours at a time. You can work out, go rock climbing, or go for a swim in either of the two pools.

    Am learning a lot

After about the first week in a class you know how things are going to be run and what teaching style that class uses. It is true that some teachers are more difficult than others but they are the ones you want to go for. You will always know with them that you are getting everything that subject has to offer.

Great for these types of students

Bowling Green is known for their Education and Business Programs, but that isn't all they offer. They offer many different majors and also different and unique class choices that give people the opportunities to widen their views and experiences while in college. Anyone can attend Bowling Green and have the experience they always wanted, just like I have.

    Tips for prospective students

Bowling Green is a great college for someone who wants to have a great college experience. They are always entertaining their students. It was very hard for me to leave my family my freshman year of college, but BG made the transition easy. Always go to college with an open mind and a willingness to try new things!

    Bang for the buck

Bowling Green is very beautiful, but it is also very expensive. But money should not hold you back. There are many opportunities for scholarships given by Bowling Green for incoming freshman and also upper-classmen as well.

    Am enjoying being here

Bowling Green is always enjoyable. The atmosphere is very welcoming and there is always activities planned for on and off campus. The people are very pleasant and are always willing to help if necessary. The dorm life is exceptional, and has been a great experience for myself and I would recommend it for both first and second year students. I wouldn't choose any other college. GO BGSU FALCONS!

    Am learning a lot

The class size and the accessibility to the professors during class and also during office hours is what has made me succeed. The class size at Bowling Green is well sized and very comfortable which makes it easy to build a relationship with your fellow classmates and professors. If you are willing to go the extra mile to get a good grade, so will your professors.

Great for these types of students

BGSU is great for a student that wants a real college experience. It is the complete opposite of high school because the campus population is so big and because of this, the opportunities for you to grow as a person are endless!

    Tips for prospective students

My best advice for future students is to make sure that you love the college you pick. Like I said, I fell in love with BGSU right away. There was nothing about it I did not like and because of that, I know I chose the right college. If you are unsure about certain aspects of the college, ask students, not administrators. The current students will tell you what they really think of the university instead of an administrator trying to sell you the college!

    Bang for the buck

Compared to other colleges and universities that I looked into, BGSU is in the middle price wise. Anywhere you choose to go is going to be expensive, but I really do believe I am getting my money's worth here! The campus staff truly wants you to succeed and in order to ensure that you do, there are always informative sessions going on about job opportunities on campus and off, internships, clubs, activites, volunteering, etc. The list is really endless!

    Am enjoying being here

I fell in love with BGSU upon my first visit, but when the time came close to actually come here, I began to get cold feet. My mind was racing with questions and I wondered if I made my decision too quickly and thought I was going to be miserable for the next four years. My first day here changed that completely and my mind was at ease. From the first time you step on the campus, all of the current students and faculty are more than happy to help you with whatever you may need. The entire first weekend was filled with different activities to get you involved with activites on campus and also gave you many opportunites to make new friends!

    Am learning a lot

Although I do not believe that college is quite as hard and scary as high school teachers make it out to be, you do need to apply yourself if you want to learn. I make sure that I always keep up on the reading and study the material learned from time to time before it comes time for the test, and because of this I feel as if I am learning a lot and really taking advantage of the college experience.

    Campus Safety

BGSU promotes a very safe environment for their students. Campus police and campus safety are always patrolling the campus to keep things in order, as well as the Bowling Green police. BGSU keeps students updated with campus update on any mischief that goes on. Safety first!

    Greek Life

Greek life is very important at BGSU. there are so many to choose from. Greek life can range from social sororities and fraternities to business and cultural sororities an fraternities. These organizations are geared toward scholarship, leadership and fellowship and they promote unity amongst each other.

    Clubs and Activities

While attending BGSU, I was able to start my own student organization with help of others. My organization is called Black Girls Rock BG and it is geared towards encouraged unity and friendship among African American college women. There is a lot of conflict in the African American community among women and I wanted to start and organization built towards resolving that conflict. An organization built to empower these women. BGSU has a host of organizations for students to get in to to make them feel welcomed and accepted. These organizations range from applying to their majors, social life, ethnic background, sexual orientation, politics and so much more!

Great for these types of students

BGSU is a great school for any student who wants to build a better future for themselves and who is not afraid to take action. BGSU encourages students to step out of their comfort zone and meet new people from all different types of backgrounds.

Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus

One unusual tradition at BGSU is the University seal. It is a round seal in the middle of campus and you must ALWAYS walk to the right of it! If you walk to the left of it, you will fail your next exam! Its has also been said that University hall is haunted as well as the Gish film theater!

    Bang for the buck

BGSU is very much worth attending. They offer various scholarships for students in need from all different backgrounds.

    What to do for fun

For fun, I enjoy going to see old historical movies in the Gish film theater in Hannah hall. I also love to talk walks around campus with friends and go to different programs that student organization put together.

    Food and Dining

The food and dining halls are very nice as well. I tell everyone that when it comes to food, BGSU spoils their students! There are so many different places to eat comfortably and many different varieties of healthy foods to eat. Every dorm has a dining hall or some sort of food place in it in addition to the places in the student union. The greenery is my favorite place to eat!

    Dorm Life

Dorm life at BGSU is great! I love how the resident advisers are constantly having activities and informational programs for students in order to reach out to them and make sure that they have the resources that they need. These programs help students resolve conflict with their roommates and also gives them tips on studying. BGSU just built two new gorgeous state of the art dorms in addition to the seven that were already present. They are air conditioned with comfortable lounges for students to study quietly and they also have places to eat and by groceries in them.

    Academic Rigor

Academics at BGSU are very challenging and competitive for students. BGSU students, faculty and staff take pride in their academics and strive to produce nothing less than greatness. Their are many programs for students to get tutors in math, reading writing and just about any subject you can think of. I love this because there is an unlimited supply of help for students who have difficulty with their classes. There is the library, the learniing commons and the writing and math center.

    Tips for prospective students

The most helpful tip I have to offer for prospective students is to GET INVOLVED! Take advantage of all of the programs available to them. There are so many organizations geared toward student development and guidance like S.M.A.R.T., Student Support Services and a host of others that will help them better their future. Being involved in different organizations and taking on internships will greatly better their chances of getting a successful job in their post- graduation lives.

    In three sentences

Bowling Geen Stae University is a very diverse campus. I admire it because the faculty and staff reach out to the students because they genuinely care about them. I honestly feel like BGSU has so many different opportunities for students to network for job opportunities and to gain experience in their field of choice before graduation.

Great for these types of students

Any student will succeed at Bowling Green. You just have to be motivated enough to want to succeed.

    Tips for prospective students

Have frequent meetings with your academic adviser. BG recommends that you do it once a semester, and that is very true. I am a second year student and I still meet with my advisers frequently.

    Am enjoying being here

Bowling Green is a nice school to be at. There are plenty of things do so and there are tons of organizations that you can become part of. You will almost never be bored unless you want to.

    Am learning a lot

The education that is offered at Bowling Green is pretty good. It is comparable to other public universities in Ohio, such as Toledo, Akron, Kent, and Youngstown. It does have a very good education program if you plan on becoming a teacher.

Great for these types of students

Great for students that love to communicate with others, who want to succeed in life, love to walk (there will be alot of walking to keep you in shape), and have a thirst for learning!

    Tips for prospective students

When you come in as a entering freshman, let the tutoring center be your best friend. I go there for evertything ranging from college algebra to philosophy.

    Bang for the buck

You do get a lot of new experieces and your getting a higher curriculum but its very expensive. Then you have to pay for other things while in school.

    Am enjoying being here

I absolutely love it here! The people are so nice and willing to help you with whatever you need. And the professors want you to do your best so therefore you cant get help from them anytime.

    Am learning a lot

I would have to say that I am learning alot. Im becoming a better writer as well as a better student.

    Educators Business Art Music

    Tips for prospective students

Get involved in at least one or two organizations. Also, consider learning communities, like the Arts Village and PCC. I have been in both, and have greatly enjoyed the community atmosphere and other opportunities.

    Bang for the buck

Much field experience which allows me to see what to expect from the classroom of today and countless chances to network.

    Am enjoying being here

In the two years I have attended this school, I have built a strong group of friends who have made college more than enjoyable. The campus is beautiful, and its plans for the future are very exciting. Downtown and on-campus entertainment is exceptional as well.

    Am learning a lot

Bowling Green has offered many opportunities to learn through experience as well as lecture. As an educator, I recognize that learning occurs through doing, and this college has provided just that through field placements and volunteering opportunities.

BG is a liberal, artsy college and because of that there's always something going on in the commons or on campus. Also once a semester there is a week long, campus wide game of tag with nerf guns. As long as you can deal with these kind of distractions or if student interaction is what you thrive on, BGSU is the school for you.

    Tips for prospective students

The university is VERY strick about parking so be ready to swallow high cost in parking tickets if you don't watch out. The bookstore is very overprice so if possible buy your books online. Amazon is your best bet.

    Bang for the buck

Bottom line college is expensive! Living on campus on BG can be pretty pricey but with gas prices so high driving more than 15 minutes to get to campus a day would cost just as much.

    Am enjoying being here

I really enjoy BG's campus and the city even. BGSU has literally a ton of student organizations so everyone can find a place they fit in. It's a small town with a lot of bars and a lot of small business.

    Am learning a lot

Every campus has those few professor that are just horrible and there are definitely some of those here, but most of the professors are really good. They care about their students and I've come away from quite a few classes with new mentors.

Artistic and open-minded. Like any large university, there are a lot of different types of people. There is Veritas, the Catholic group, and there's also a gay fraternity. BGSU is more diverse than I expected, and I love it. There's also a lot of people at BG from small towns, so don't think you'll be overwhelmed if you're from a farming community.

    Tips for prospective students

Take as many college visits as you can, you want YOUR university to feel like home. Don't worry about the city itself - your freshman year you probably won't leave campus too much. While you're here, always go see professors during office hours - they love talking to college kids! Also, don't go home at least for the first month. Let yourself get used to being at college.

    Bang for the buck

Coming from Michigan, BGSU was one of the better schools as far as out-of-state tuition fees are concerned. I don't regret my decision at all. Don't let the bill stop you from attending BGSU if this is where you want to be!

    Am enjoying being here

BGSU is a great place for artists of all kinds - architects, musicians, dancers, writers, painters, etc. The new construction going on is a little inconvenient, but i know it will be great. The university always has stuff going on - both on-campus and off. You don't have to be a part of the party scene if you don't want to, there's always an alternative. (Of course, if that's more your style, there's plenty of that too!)

    Am learning a lot

A lot of students dislike general education classes - but BGSU offers a wide variety of these gen eds, to allow students to take classes that fit their interests. I really enjoyed my Ethnic Studies class, and other classes outside of my major, which I wasn't expecting.

I came from a small high school. I graduated with 100 or so people. This was a HUGE transaction for me. There are several groups you can join and be the person you want to be. If you enjoy being around people, this is the school for you.

    Tips for prospective students

It IS a party school. I see people going to them all the time, however, you don't have to like partying to go. You can find plenty of friends who don't. Trust me. If you don't plan on working your butt off and try to do well or If you plan on partying all the time, I suggest you don't go.

    Bang for the buck

Like any college, it is expensive. The thing is the money we spend is for good reasons. I was looking into a different school at first. BG ended up winning my heart over.

    Am enjoying being here

The people are the best. I was walking with one of my friends just to explore campus and this random guy asks us if we need any help getting anywhere. It was awesome. I was extremely glad when I picked BG.

    Am learning a lot

I really am learning a lot here. Don't come in thinking it is easy, because it's not. It is hard work and it takes a lot of dedication, but it is completely worth it.

If you are looking to expand and learn and meet new people, BG has a great environment for all of these. BG has a great educational program also.

    Tips for prospective students

Make sure if you have a teacher's assistant that does not speak English as their primary language that you ask questions when you have them. Go to your instructor if you need help. Do not hesitate to ask questions, that's why you have instructors and teacher's assistants.

    Bang for the buck

BG was definitely more expensive for me. I come from a family of 6 so it was more of a struggle for us to keep up on everything, but there are so many scholarship opportunities that it is worth it.

    Did enjoy being here

On the sports side, I did not like my coach at all and that is a reason I am transferring. That and I want to be closer to home. BG is a small town so there isn't a ton to do on the weekends unless you don't mind travelling up to Toledo or Maumee. Overall, I would recommend BG if you are looking for a small D1 school filled with opportunities.

    Did learn a lot

Bowling Green State University was quite an experience for my freshman year of college. I am a student athlete, so I had a lot on my plate. I think the school is great. My teachers were very helpful and I learned a lot in each of my classes. I loved all of my classes.

Apply as soon as you can so you can apply for some of the bigger scholarships that have winter deadlines even if you may not attend the next fall.

    Bang for the buck

They've given me 2/3 of my cost of going there and I'm still working with them on financial options. They are very easy to work with in SFA and don't mind endless questions and concerns about affording an education there, especially with the added cost of being out of state.

    Will enjoy being here

I know many students who already attend and from what I have heard it is a great place to be and I look forward to that experience.

    Will learn a lot

They seem to have promising programs for many different kinds of majors and a very friendly atmosphere if you don't mind a bit of a party scene.

Open minded Lots of different types of people. You'll learn so much from just sitting next to someone different in class.

    Tips for prospective students

Parties is mainly what all high school students think about when the word college is spoken. And while BGSU DOES have some fun parties, you won't be able to really enjoy them unless you've done that 10 page paper due tomorrow at 8 AM. In short, do your work & you'll have 10 times more fun at parties!

    Bang for the buck

it's pretty cheap whether you're in or out of state & the professor there are excellent!

    Am enjoying being here

I'm a transfer from Miami University so it's.... different. As far as the environment goes anyway. The students are very friendly as well as the professors & other staff

    Am learning a lot

I actually am. My classes were a challenge but who wants an A handed to them? If you choose to major in something you really care about, you'll learn more than you thought you could ever learn

There has been a lot of overlap from high school and the information taught on campus. However, I have simply been taking general education classes, so this is to be expected. The professors here are awesome and are always willing to help if you ask for it.

There are many scholarship opportuinities that you can apply for. For a larger size school, you would think that the tution would be higher, but it is reasonably low for the size.

    Will enjoy being here

The college is practically like a small town. The campus makes up most of the town and everything is within walking distance. There are so man different things that you can do on or off campus.

    Will learn a lot

Most of the programs can be designed to fit you, with what you wish to learn, especially if it a general major that can be broken down into multiple subjects. One example is the telecommunications program. You can specialize in radio, or television, or even the technical side of things. Make sure that you meet with a member of the department or an admissions counselor to get a better feel of a certain program.

coming from a small private school, it's a really good size for me. it's big enough that i can surround myself with a ton of different kinds of people, but it's not so big that it's overwhelming.

    Tips for prospective students

this is college, the professors aren't going to baby you, you have to do the work. also, you might not always agree with everything your peers and/or professors say or think, but it's good to keep an open mind. as far as housing goes, you don't need to live in the new, fancy dorms; harshman and kriecher might be a little farther from most things on campus, but they are awesome!

    Bang for the buck

one of the cheapest universities in the area, and i still think i'm getting the full college experience. like most things, you get out of it what you put into it.

    Am enjoying being here

I LOVE it! I have made so many good friends and there is always something to do. There's a lot of diversity in interests among both students and professors. People have the idea that it's a party school, but there are definitely other things to do if you don't want to party. If you want to party, you will find them, if you don't, you can avoid them for the most part.

    Academic Rigor

the professors are great and there are a ton of classes to choose from. (remember, this is college, meaning you will get out of it what you put into it.) i would highly recommend taking some random classes just because they sound interesting even if they don't pertain to your major; it all adds to the experience. there will always be professors you don't really agree with, but overall, they are very knowledgeable and work hard to help you understand the material if you put the effort into it.

    Tips for prospective students

Apply early, and if you attend do your Orientation early so you can get into the classes that you want to get.

    Will enjoy being here

The campus is not to big but not to small which allows you to know a wide range of friends but not feel so overwhelmed. BGSU has a homely feeling to the campus where you feel right at home when your away from home.

    Will learn a lot

Yes BGSU has many opportunities to learn and explore different areas as they have a wide range of classes to choose from. They also have lots of tutoring sessions to help you if you need it.

    Campus Safety

There are those Emergency Blue Lights all over campus and the staff/RA's are always there to help- as well as campus security. So far, campus has been pretty safe!

    Clubs and Activities

There are so many things to do on campus- and so many of them are cool! Quidditch, Harry Potter, Gaming, Greek Life, Hall Council, Honors Scholars. Anything, you can think of, becoming a part of something is all too easy.

Great for these types of students

Anyone is welcome here, no matter the learning style or personality. Enough animosity to be unknown, yet enough opportunities to make yourself known.

Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus

Humans vs Zombies would be a tradition that is unique to BGSU. That group hosts a big battle between humans and zombies who fight with nerf guns and darts to save the population of BGSU. And BGSU also has Quidditch, which is awesome!

    Bang for the buck

This depends on what you're looking for in a campus, but I think if you're looking for good schooling and a pretty campus in addition to an entertaining environment, there is no better place than BGSU.

    What to do for fun

Literally anything. BGSU has a LARPING group, a Harry Potter group, many Religious organizations, a Gamer group and anything in between. We even have a Humans vs. Zombies group that hosts nerf wars. Not to mention, BGSU has a lot of cool scholarly groups- the Honors Program is one that I'm a part of. Honors Scholars would have to be my favorite out of all of these groups, but literally, there is no place to go without getting away from something to do. Hall Council (dorm decisions), Sororities, Fraternities, Jobs- anything you can think of, BGSU has.

    Food and Dining

Again, this is why I love the dorms. Kresicher has the Sun Dial, which is a little cafeteria, great subs, great salads, and chicken and pizza all the time. Also, Kresicher has an Outtakes, which is like a grocery store- really helpful. The swipes places also serve a variety of food, most of which is healthy and diverse. I love being able to get both types of food on campus.

    Dorm Life

This is a three, only because sometimes things can get a little out of hand- but otherwise, the dorms are great. I've fallen in love with Kreischer Batchelder, even with all the weird goings-on. The RA's really help with the experience too!

    Academic Rigor

A lot of this rigor is based on what each student decides to take on. The homework and assignments can be difficult or easy, depending on the style of everyone's learning habits. Just take it as it comes, and everything will be fine.

    Tips for prospective students

Stay yourself, but be open to new experiences that can change your mind. Work through your problems, and keep school on top of everything (for it is really easy to end up getting overwhelmed). Make friends, even if you wouldn't normally.

    In three sentences

BGSU is a great campus for those who like to be a part of a community, but at the same time like to blend into the background. Here, anyone can pursue their degree and become the person that they want to be, while having time to do the things that are non-academically challenging and fun. Something else that is awesome about BGSU would be how wonderful and aesthetically pleasing the campus looks- which is always a plus.

    Campus Safety

I walked from one side of campus to the other at night by myself....and i survived...I think that says a lot. BGSU offers police and student escorts to walk you to class back to your dorm. There are also safety lights everywhere and phones with emergency buttons. The police department is directly across from campus and the fire department and hospital is down the street.

    Greek Life

Greeks are very involved with the campus and are always doing some type of community service to better the campus or city or a charity.

    Clubs and Activities

Many clubs have their meeting times at the same time which can be a problem sometimes

Great for these types of students

Students who want to step[ outside the box. Students who want diversity and who want to meet new people. Students who want to be leaders and want a legacy known by many. This school prepares it's students to not only be professionals in their fields but to think critically and innovative.

Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus

    Cookie Jar Pollyeyes

    What to do for fun

There are over 300 clubs here...trust me you will find something. I didn't think i would but I found some and many found me. Just go for it. Try something new. You have nothing to lose but opportunities. There are things on and off campus to do and go to.

    Food and Dining

The options are pretty much the same. The union has many restaurants but the menus for each are the same everyday. However, there are 2 all you can eat buffet style dinning halls. There is also the Pub, a fancy restaurant that has great food and there is plenty more places on and off campus to eat.

    Dorm Life

I have a hall bathroom and it is ALWAYS CLEAN! The cleaning lad ydoes a great job and she is super friendy. She cleans it everyday. I live in Chapman Learning community in Kohl Hall and the people here are amazing! they are friendly and open. On my floor we have random dance parties and movie nights. We also have group study sessions while eating Cookie Jar and Pizza Hut. Overall your dorm life depends on you and your willingness to get to know people and be open-minded.

    Academic Rigor

It depend on your classes and major but the professors do give the students enough time to complete assignments. If you need help, the professor all have office hours and BGSU also offer the Learning Commons where students can get help on any subject. Plus, all the tutors and learning commons are free.

    Tips for prospective students

    1. GO TO CLASS 2. Don't assume, ask 3. Ask yourself what it is you want from a university and then find out if BG can give it to you. 4. Renting books can save ALOT of money. My friend spent about $575 buying all new books.... I spent only $175 by renting and buying used books. 5. It is OK to ask for help.

    In three sentences

This school is the perfect size, not too big, not too small. The people on campus and the residents of Bowling Green (the city) are always working together to connect students with real life experiences such as jobs and internships. Also, BGSU is big on giving out scholarships.

Great for these types of students

Love diversity and working with all kinds of people/situations, not really a specific type of person that should apply here. I was born and raised in the city but Bowling Green is a small town- and I love it!!

    Tips for prospective students

Aim for highest score possible on ACT/SAT (can receive admission scholarship on that number along with high school GPA), apply for President Leadership Academy (PLA) if finances are a issue, join AT LEAST one student organization during college (best way to people others with similar interests)

    Bang for the buck

As a non- resident of Ohio I truly know how expensive it can be to pay for college. However, BGSU prides itself in creating financial opportunities for students based on: need, interests, academic performance. For example, President Leadership Academy is a highly competitive full ride scholarship program for graduating high school seniors. Not only will the university pay for your school for 4 years, if accepted, but they will also help you to develop into the best leader that you can be.

    Am enjoying being here

I hear all the time from incoming freshmen or visitors that they became interested in BGSU because all of the people here are so friendly and outgoing. This was true in my case as well! Also, I love how diverse this campus is, in all aspects, from cultures, languages, student organizations, and so much more. There is something here to match everybody's interests!

    Am learning a lot

Very True. Especially now that the campus is going through a lot of new improvements for both the residents halls and the classrooms. BGSU takes pride and focuses on incorporating innovate application to help enhance each students learning experience. Also, I truly love how involved and committed my professors are to seeing me excel as a student and professional. For example, in preparation for the Career Day Job Fair one of my business professors started a college wide event called Open Season. For this event, any business faculty or students could ask for us to give our personal career value proposition/ 2 minute pitch.

Great for these types of students

It is great for people who would like to go to college in a town setting, but not great for students looking for a city college. It is great if you want a bigger campus but if you want a small college, this isn't the college for you because BGSU has about 20,000 students attending.

    Tips for prospective students

I would go to one of BGSU's preview days. I went to one in October and I learned much about the school, majors, financial aid, and housing.

    Bang for the buck

Even though it may seem costly, Bowling Green is no more expensive than other colleges. Its expenses are just about the same for every state school in Ohio. If you think it too expensive, there is always Firelands campus in Huron, Ohio for people who live close to Huron. There are also a ton scholarships to look for on their website.

    Will enjoy being here

There are tons of activities to do on campus. I get emails about some of their activities and when they are. Plus you could walk down the street and there are some restaurants and stores to browse around in. It is in a town setting and the city of Bowling Green itself isn't very big, but it is a nice town to be in. I believe I will enjoy being there.

    Will learn a lot

I hear that Bowling Green has plenty of programs and classes. It is known for its education programs, so if you want to be a teacher, this could be the school for you.

    Academic Rigor

this depends on the program and courses you take. you can choose to take the minimum course load with the easiest classes, or you can take 18 credit hours full of sciences with labs. the academic rigor depends on you.

    Tips for prospective students

get to know your professors. most are willing to meet with their students outside of class. if you are having trouble understanding the material, go talk to your professor, not other students. the classes are small, which means that most professors are willing to make time for their students.

    In three sentences

the class sizes are generally small, which means that you have a great chance of getting to know all of your professors. the campus is small, so it is easy to find buildings and get to your classes in a small amount of time. there are a lot of resources to help you achieve your academic goals.

    Campus Safety

Campus safety is definitely BGSU number one priority. With emergency buttons all over campus and BG police always driving around, you are definitely safe when walking around campus.

    Greek Life

The Greek life is very popular here at BGSU and are very close. This year has been tremendously tough on the Greek Life here and they all came together, along with the rest of the University, to get through the hard times. It was extremely amazing to watch, but even better to be a part of.

    Clubs and Activities

So many clubs to be involved in. There are club sports teams, intramural teams, debate clubs, dancing clubs, singing clubs, anything!

Great for these types of students

    All students!

Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus

Locations on campus that are very popular are the student union, where students usually go to eat, study, or kill time in between classes, and also the bar life is quite entertaining. I have heard from numerous people who have visited BGSU and them say they have never had so much fun on a college visit before.

    Bang for the buck

Overall, BGSU is such a great campus. There is always something to do and there is always somewhere or someone you can go to if you are struggling with anything. I have experience very difficult times in my life and speaking with the staff and my friends I have made here has made it so much easier to overcome. I do not feel like just a student here at BGSU, but instead a member of the family.

    What to do for fun

There is so much to do at BGSU. Between the football, hockey, basketball, and baseball games there is always an event going on the weekends. If your not at a sporting event, our student union always provides movie showings and guest speakers on the weekends that are entertaining and educational.

    Food and Dining

The food and dining is surprisingly well. The hours are convenient for students and the lines are never too long to wait for. BGSU also provides a small shop that contains food items when the dining hall closes and accepts your BGSU card!

    Dorm Life

The dorm life is with out a doubt amazing. I have met my best friends living in the dorms and I still have contact with everyone from my floor that I lived in freshman year. The students are so welcoming and always looking to have a good time and meet new people. No one will ever be alone in the dorms.

    Academic Rigor

Academically, BGSU can be challenging but it's only to help better your future and make you more prepared. It will only be difficult if you do not put in all your effort and not take it seriously. BGSU provides so many tutor groups to help with any struggles you have in the classroom and the professors are always willing to meet with you outside of the classroom. I really encourage if you are struggling with a topic to not give up, but instead seek help and it will be a easy and calm year for you here at BGSU.

    Tips for prospective students

Be ready to become a falcon and be a part of a close and welcoming University. BGSU has been through so much and I have never seen a University come together to get through good and bad times. Also, BGSU provides so many opportunities for you to be involved with the University and I highly advise you take advantage of them.

    In three sentences

Bowling Green State University is a great college academically and socially. This university gives you the opportunity to explore your interest and figure out which major is best for you. The staff here are so welcoming and are always willing to help you with your career.

Overall, there are many different events going on at different times literally every day. There is always something fun going on you just have to stay informed!

    Food and Dining

There are always healthy options available and meal choices are variable from meal to meal and day to day as well. There are sufficient alternatives for those who are vegetarian, have specific diet limitations, and otherwise. The food is not easy to get sick of, even if one goes to the dining hall for each meal.

    Dorm Life

Roomates are paired up pretty decently, many seeming as if they've been friends their whole lives. There are many different kinds of people throughout the floors so that one has the ability to meet all kinds of friends that they may not have before. There's always fun dorm activities/contests going on as well!

    Academic Rigor

Classes are challenging and require alot from students. Each professor is different and has his/her own unique way of presenting topics so that they are both interesting and quite graspable by students. Students learn a lot about a lot if they stay attentive in class and work hard out of class as well.

    Tips for prospective students

    1. Take your studies and classes seriously. Friends will be able to be hung out with after your work is done. You can't take back a missed deadline. 2. Take classes/opportunities you may not initially have thought of taking, you may be surprised by how much you may come to love them. Plus, it's a good way to figure out what you want to do vs don't want to do with your life. 3. Make friends with all kinds of people. In college, the atmosphere is far more diverse than in high school. Take advantage of it! 4. Learn to budget. I can't stress it enough. It's easy to forget the value of a dollar in college with virtual dollars on a swipeable card. Keep in mind these dollars are actually counting down and should be budgetted in such a way that you don't find yourself broke too fast and too soon. 5. Make the best of your experience! Work hard, make good friends, have a blast!

    In three sentences

Bowling Green State University is full of diversity and innovation. Every day I walk through campus there is something new going on that wasn't conceived of the day before. It's a really interesting place to be.

    Campus Safety

If you ever feel scared or in danger, you can have campus escorts walk with you until you get to your destination. There are few crimes on campus but it is better safe than sorry. When in doubt, walk with a few friends to ensure all of you are safe.

    Food and Dining

Everywhere you go, you can count on there being somewhere to eat. On campus there are many different food options at the Union, and in every building there are vending machines. Off campus is where there is a food overload. Fast food restaurants and sit down restaurants are located everywhere so there is no chance of going hungry.

    Dorm Life

Living with someone for the school year can create a lifelong bond with that person. It can make the college experience more memorable. Some dorms are better than others. Some have one bathroom for each gender and others have a bathroom in every room. It just depends on how old the dorm is. But you can almost always count on there being a little store on the first floor where you can buy food if you ever run out.

    Academic Rigor

Bowling Green is not a place to slack off. You are expected to take classes seriously and they can be very challenging. Most professors add attendance to your final grade so missing multiple classes is not an option. Because this is college, professors do not remind you every day when there is a test or homework. You are advised to start studying weeks before a test because it is the best way to succeed. After all, you are paying for your classes; Why not try to excel?

    Tips for prospective students

There are a lot of different organizations and groups to partake in. The campus has a friendly atmosphere and it is an accepting community. If you like the night life there are numerous bars and clubs down one strip. Try to get involved as much as you can to make your experience memorable.

    In three sentences

Bowling Green has many different classes for whatever you are interested in. The campus is diverse and everyone is friendly. It is a beautiful campus with lots of activities to participate in.

There is an escort service, as well as the BGSU police that are very helpful. Blue lights are posted around campus if trouble ever occurs. I always felt safe walking all the way across campus from the gym to my dorms at 11:00p and other hours of the evening.

    Clubs and Activities

Get involved on campus! There are countless organizations to join and there is a fair put on towards the beginning of Fall semester every year to get students to sign up for clubs and organizations. Sports, academic, Greek life, and more!

Great for these types of students

-Clevelanders (just the right distance from home) -Students looking to get involved -Education majors -Urban/suburban folks looking for a change in pace

Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus

Always walk to the right of the campus seal, located between Founders Hall and the Student Union.

    What to do for fun

Organizations hold events around campus to give students things to do during week nights and weekends. There is a theater in the union that plays movies a few times a month. The student government is very well-organized and holds countless events throughout the month to keep students entertained. There is the small (small mall) that is off campus and can be reached by the off-campus bus, along with a very cheaply priced movie theater. Nightlife and bars are always entertaining in the Downtown BG area (Main Street)

    Food and Dining

There are a lot of food options available on and surrounding campus (including more and better options since I've graduated 1.5 years ago). A cafeteria-style option is offered in the student union, along with Wendy's and Starbucks. Dunkin' Donuts is also now on campus with coffee and food options. Most on-campus residences offer some type of food in the building. Surrounding campus must-tries include: Pollyeyes, Oasis, Pita Pit, Myers Pizza, and Jeds.

    Dorm Life

Dorm life at BGSU is a must. By living in the dorms, you meet other students that are in the same position as you. The dorms are kept up nicely and they've build many new and improved dorms in recent years.

    Academic Rigor

It's a great University for education majors (as I was not an education major, I can tell you first-hand that other majors at BGSU are good as well). The professors, advisers, and other students are helpful and make the college experience what it should be--easy, fun, and of course, educational.

    Tips for prospective students

    (1) Get involved on campus!! It's a great way to meet people with similar interests (1b) BGSU is a decent-sized school, but by no means OSU. This is a good thing if one wants to be involved on campus--it means you can be the big shot (with time and dedication) in the organization you appreciate with that very few at OSU can even dream of (2) Pollyeye's and Pita Pit are a must for any BG student to try. You'll regret it if you don't go until senior year. (3) Enjoy campus life. BG has (or at least used to have) a rule that students had to live on campus for 2 years unless commuting. Enjoy it. It's a great way to make friends, you've only got a short walk to/from classes, and you don't need to spend several hours between classes killing time (you can just go to your room!). Honest, it's great.

    In three sentences

While there are students who commute to BGSU, it's a great school for students looking to go away for college due to its on-campus life. It may be located in cornfields and a rural area, but BGSU definitely makes up the Bowling Green, Ohio community (which is a great thing). BGSU offers great education for a decent price, as well as a home away from home.

    Campus Safety

Campus is extremely safe! There is not only an escort service that you can call, but also a shuttle service. Bowling Green also has emergency call lights EVERYWHERE! I have never felt unsafe on campus. My friend and I would run at night, and never think twice about not being safe. Campus is also really close, so everyone looks out for one another too! I love Bowling Green, and to me it's home!

    Greek Life

I am personally not involved in Greek Life, but I know a lot of people that are! Greek Life at Bowling Green is awesome, it's a wonderful opportunity to be apart of a life long group. All of my friends that have joined Greek Life love it! There are a lot of different sororities as well as fraternities on campus to choose from and the best part is, Bowling Green's Greek community is strongly based on academics!

    Clubs and Activities

Bowling Green offers a bunch of different clubs and activities! There are clubs from sports, to religious, to political, to just about anything you can imagine! The best part about Bowling Green is if there is a club or activity that campus doesn't offer, YOU can make it happen. YOU, the student, have the opportunity to start anything you want on campus!! This is another reason why Bowling Green is so great because nobody is ever left out!

Great for these types of students

Bowling Green is great for everyone! There are so many different types of people on campus! There are different groups and organizations for everyone, and everybody fits in! Bowling Green is for people that love having a sense of pride and belonging. It's for people that aren't afraid to have fun, and are totally cool with being themselves!

Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus

The one tradition that I love about Bowling Green is walking through campus hearing someone yell B-G, and hearing at least 20 others yell back S-U. It is such a great feeling knowing that everyone has so much Bowling Green pride, and is willing to show it! Not to mention Falcon Friday's where almost all of campus is covered in people wearing their orange and brown! It's a wonderful feeling to be apart of such a strong, supportive campus. We also have the campus seal which is really cool. It's a great marker of our campus!

    Bang for the buck

There are so many opportunities on campus to save money! Almost once every week there is an opportunity for free food, and there are always organizations handing out goodies! I love it!! During football season, the football team split up amongest the residence halls and give out free pizza, and you get to talk to them! It's a blast!

    What to do for fun

There is a lot to do in Bowling Green for fun. Some of these options include going to 3 dollar movies on Thursdays at the local theater, hanging out with friends, or my favorite attending sporting events. I love sports and as a part of being a Bowling Green student, I have the privilege of attending any home Bowling Green sporting event free of charge. It is an amazing opportunity and a great experience. I love being able to go out and support my fellow falcons!

    Food and Dining

Although campus food, is well...campus food, Bowling Green has a great variety that we get to chose from. We have three different buffet options on campus that are included in our meal plan as well as other options such as starbucks, pinkberry, panda express, steak escape, and dunkin doughnuts. I love Bowling Green's options for dining because there is plenty of variety and opportunities to eat different things, and you never get sick of the same old stuff. Also on campus, included in our meal plan, is our own campus pub. It's a really nice place to go out to on the weekends, or for a nice sit down meal during the week.

    Dorm Life

I love living in the dorms on campus! I have met so many people and made so many friends! Although the rooms are really small, I enjoy having my friends right down the hall, and being able to participate in all of the activities that residence hall provides. The resident advisers are all super friendly and easy to talk to. They put on activities for us to participate in such as different games and crafts. It's an opportunity for us to get together, take a break from studying and relax. I love dorm life at Bowling Green!

    Academic Rigor

At Bowling Green the academics are challenging, yet manageable. There are a lot of opportunities to seek out help if you need it. Often times peers are extremely helpful to one another, not to mention the professors are very willing to meet one on one, or do anything to assist the student. I love Bowling Green because although the classes are sometimes tough and challenging, they are not impossible where you feel as if you cannot handle them. It is a great balance!

    Tips for prospective students

When you are looking for a college make sure that you decide on one that you feel at home and welcome. It's not about picking the college that is the closest or furthest from home, the one that most of your friends are going to, but what one is best suited for you. You have to make sure that your campus is right for you. It's important to look at not only the academics, but also the environment in which the campus is located in. Picking a college shouldn't be a week long process, you should be looking your junior and senior year and I cannot stress the importance of visiting your top five desired campuses.

    In three sentences

Bowling Green is an extremely supportive campus. It offers a lot of different programs and opportunities for many different types of people. Bowling Green is amazing!

    Campus Safety

Campus police can get anywhere on Campus in 30 seconds or less.

    Greek Life

Amazing Greek life, there is a sorority or fraternity that everyone can fall in love with. Even if you think Greek life isn't for you at least check it out. You will make some great friends.

    Bang for the buck

It's pretty pricey for this economy, but what's the saying? You get what you pay for.

    What to do for fun

BG has a wonderful nightlife. Downtown is just a short walk away, and there are shuttle services that take you there. BG also has a great Greek community. If partying isn't your thing, then there are dozens of club meeting on any given day that can be awesome!

    Food and Dining

Some of the dining options aren't the greatest. It just depends on the day and where you go, on the flip side sometimes I get better home cooked food on campus than I do at home.

    Dorm Life

Some building are really close, others not so much; however be prepared to be really close to the people on your floor.

    Academic Rigor

Anyone can do the work if they set their minds to it, and the array of services offered to help students with homework and tutoring are astounding and unrivaled.

    Tips for prospective students

It is a little overwhelming the first few weeks but the main thing everyone says is to get involved. It is seriously an over played record but it's the best advice you can get. Getting involved is so important for your college experience.

    In three sentences

Bowling Green is a wonderful close knit community that provides an excellent learning environment. Aside from excelling in academics it has hundreds of student organizations for students to get involved. It is a wonderful school to go to if you want a school where you aren't just another face.

    Campus Safety

VERY SAFE. Campus police always look at the needs and safety of the students before anything else, even if they have potentially cause trouble in comparison to the other campus that I have been to. Be smart like look you car and bedrooms doors as out would in your home, you will be fine. You are more likely to harm yourself them to have someone else harm you.

    Greek Life

When I was there Bowling green had about 17 fraternities and about 13 sororities in the Pan Hellenic Greek council. They have multicultural, business, co-ed and service Greek organizations as well. NPHC is present, but the BG did not have all 9 of the Divine Nine at one time. they tend to have about 6-8 organization in NPHC active at once.

    Clubs and Activities

Over 300 clubs which include academia/ majors oriented, ethic student organizations, sports and wellness and more.

Great for these types of students

BGSU have a huge traditional student population. mot student come straight from High School. If Transfer student tend to arrive in the spring semester rather then the fall. If you are active, independent and do not mind a rural setting, BG is a very good option for you.

Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus

Sic Sic- University spirit organization where membership can only be optioned if invited by a member- no one knows who the members are until they get revealed - 2 seniors are revealed every year and 2 new members join to replace the seniors during there sophomore year.

    Bang for the buck

Ohio State and most other schools in Ohio cost less then Bowling Green by about $1,000-3,000 on average. (This is also in the public record that you can get when you fill out the government FASFA site and view the schools information. ) Bringing a car will help you adjust to being in the rural environment. With Toledo, Detroit and Canada will within a 30 mins - 1 hour away. You will be able to enjoy concerts, get around town and find employment easier if you have your own transportation. The Bus system is great on campus, but once off campus, the public transportation is horrible. If you enjoy frequent salon/ barber and nail shop visits during the week or once a month, you would to plan ahead to go back to your hometown because there is not a lot of options locally.

    What to do for fun

About 1 of every 5 people join Greek-letter organizations where they attend and host both social and community service oriented events ( You can check the member skip and academic record- this is public information in the Greek reports). People go bar hopping/dancing/clubbing. Wal-Mart is really popular. There are movies and malls less then 20 mins away, so have a car or a friend with a car.

    Food and Dining

The food got worse and worse in the campus dining halls as I kept attending BG over the years. However, the student union was upgraded recently which included a Panda Express, Jumba Juice, and more. I would not eat anywhere else but the Union or go to the many off campus locations that are unique to the city of Bowling Green, OH.

    Dorm Life

Living in the residences halls really helped my develop there socially since I only know a handful of people from my high school that went to BG. The are tons of events, programs and it is easier to form a study group being on campus. There are strong living and learning communities and BGSU is highly ranked for the quality of higher education professional in Residence Life and other non academic departments.

    Academic Rigor

This is really unblanced. Some high school courses were more of a challenge. However, there are some professors that gave me a run for my money and it seemed impossible to pass their course(s).

    Tips for prospective students

Seek out scholarships early. I would have applied for the PLA full tuition scholarship, if know about it. Get involved, but stay focus on our goal to graduate with a degree. A lot of student end up at BGSU way longer then four years, partly because they partied more then they studied. If you are a health oriented major- you would be better of going to the University of Toledo.

    In three sentences

Bowling Green has many degree programs, a diverse student body and lots of campus activities. It is a school were you really have to take the initiative to prepare and define your career/ professional opportunities. The staff feels under paid and can take it out on the students, but if you can get past the rural environmental and don't care about how the teachers treat you, this maybe a good choice in school for you.

Great for these types of students

Anyone from party-kids to the hardcore bookworms. A huge library, great rec center, and beautiful campus offers a lot. I'm a writer, so I enjoy sitting amongst the squirrels and relaxing with a notebook, it's very peaceful.

    Tips for prospective students

Take four years of a foreign language, it is required here; I wish someone would have told me. Also, get connected on Facebook immediately and try to ask some upperclassmen for advice, they're really helpful and friendly.

    Bang for the buck

BG offers an incredible number of scholarships and financial aid, I can't take out loans due to lack of cosigner, but I'm still able to attend without too much financial strain. I'm not going anywhere.

    Am enjoying being here

The college experience is unreal. High school, big or small (I've gone to both), simply doesn't compare. From knowledgeable professors to the BG Undead (Humans vs. Zombies club), it's a blast.

    Am learning a lot

I'm taking my gen-eds the first year, knocking them out quick, then I go straight for my major. But even for gen-eds, they're actually interesting. Huge class selection.

    Tips for prospective students

Get to know as many people in your dorm and in classes. Being away from home can be scary, but making new friends really helps to make you feel more at home. Also, time management is very important. Mom and dad are not around to make sure you get your school work done and to make sure you go to class. It is up to you to be responible and know how to manage fun as well as school. I had many friends drop out because they did so bad their freshman year at college.

    Bang for the buck

I feel that the cost is worth it if you really love the campus and want to go here. It is important to go to the financial aid office anytime you have concerns with the cost of the school and they do a great job at helping students to find loans and scholarships.

    Am enjoying being here

I love the campus and the people on campus. I feel that the school is pretty big, but it is still small enough where you see a lot of your friends walking around campus and it is easy to find your way around. Bowling Green was my first choice for school and I would not be happy anywhere else.

    Am learning a lot

The curriculum at BGSU is amazing. I am an education major and I have taken many different classes from psychology to education courses as well as phonics and literature. I feel that my professors are very knowledgeable and are helping to guide me to become an amazing teacher. The teachers are great when it comes to resonding to emails and learning who their students are. They allow us to think criticallly and form our own opinions which is very important.

    Campus Safety

I feel pretty safe walking on campus in the day and the night. Where ever I look there are blue light polls just in case. For safety though, I do prefer walking with someone at odd hours of the night, but I have never ran into trouble before when I did walk around late by myself.

    Clubs and Activities

Arts Village all the way! You can explore and try new things there. The Arts Village is known for it's creativity. I was able to go on the West Coast Trip, build djembe drums, play taiko, and much more! I also could go to classes in my dorm building! Check them out!!

Great for these types of students

All types. There is something for everyone. Though BG is what I would call a medium sized campus (you can cross the entire campus in 15 minutes) and is located in a small town.

Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus

Organizations and groups of students will get together and paint the spirit rock by the art building. It is painted using spray paint house paint. When my dorm floor painted it we used house paint and our hands, I don't think paint brushes are ever used.

    Bang for the buck

College is expensive, but it could be more. However, eating on campus is expensive. If you live off campus, pack.

    What to do for fun

Go on an alternate trip over fall and spring breaks: South Bronx Trip Navajo Trip West Coast Trip (Only AV students) Go to Detroit (through Cru) These are some of many trips that organizations and professors put on throughout the year. They are really cheap for what you get out of them.

    Food and Dining

As I stated before, some you will like some will grow old. Overall, it is good. It is expensive, but with meal plan you can make it through just fine. I would run low on meal plan, but I budgeted right to never run out until the end.

    Dorm Life

It is good. As with all cafeteria, you will have food that will get old and food that you will miss. I was in a learning community (the Arts Village) that made dorm life really fun and diverse. Unfortuently, the dorms I was in weren't that big. They were the older ones. I have no idea what the new dorms look like now. Living in the old dorms were worth living in the AV (Arts Village).

    Academic Rigor

Once you get past general education classes and depending on the major and how much you put into it, classes can be challenging.

    Tips for prospective students

It gets cold in the winter. The wind will cut through everything, so just dress warm. The wind comes from every direction so umbrellas aren't really useful. If you are lost on what to do with your major or after college: go to the career center. Check out the learning communities; they offer many unique opportunities (especially the arts village-- and you don't even have to be an art major to be in the community). As for the doors in the art building, push to go out, pull to go in, and lift up on the door at the top of the stairs off the main doors. Check out scholarships online and through the school after your freshmen year. Study hard, have fun, take risks, and take care of yourself.

    In three sentences

The students and faculty are friendly. There are many diverse opportunities and services offered at BGSU. There are a vast variety of majors and classes and helpful professors and advisors.

    What to do for fun

I am in the Marine Biology Association, the Falcon Marching Band, and the Maraurder's Club (Harry Potter). All of these organizations are extremely fun, and they take the stress away from normal school work.

    Food and Dining

The food isn't too terrible. There barely ever any healthy choices besides salad. There's always pizza at the All You Care to Eat places, and in the union there's Panda Express, Marco's Pizza, Chickendipity, Mando Sub, Steak Escape, Jamba Juice, and Wild Greens. They're all very good places to eat. There are also various mini stores called Outakes all over campus that use the meal plan money.

    Dorm Life

For me, the dorm life is not as bad as most people make it out to seem. I live in Kreischer Darrow and even though the rooms are a tad small, it works. Especially since my roommate and I are invoked with a lot of things. We are only in here ton sleep and do homework. The quiet hours are nice even though they aren't always inforced.

    Academic Rigor

Based off the classes I have taken, they have really challenged me. They have involved a lot of studying - there hasn't been an easy A class yet! Though, sometimes the challenge is nice!

    Tips for prospective students

Definitely lern to get involved with the campus. Get in the habit of studying really hard; go to the learning commons, SI sessions, and ask your professors to help.

    In three sentences

The campus and beautiful and not too big. The university really cares about their students academics and their volunteer work/internships. There are hundreds of clubs and ways to get involved, there definitely something for everybody!

    Tips for prospective students

    In three sentences

Just like any other venture, college is an investment. Bowling Green State University was not the best investment for me. I do not recommend it for students who want an active community, mainly a party school.

I always feel pretty safe of campus there aren't many times when I am afraid to walk out at night.

    Clubs and Activities

There's the marine lab, Marine Biology Association, Beta Beta Beta, UAO, Red Cross, etc. There are so many clubs and activities to choose from on campus. So get involved!

Great for these types of students

I think in general it's pretty welcoming to everyone.

Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus

On of the traditions you could say on campus is to always walk to right of the seal or you will fail all your classes. Another one is that if you and your significant other stand on top the seal during a full moon and share a kiss that you will get married to that person.

    What to do for fun

There's a lot to do for fun for the non-party people like me. There parks that aren't to far off campus and typically some UAO organized event going on.

    Food and Dining

For the most part the food and dining is good but when it comes to the all you can eats you might want to go online and check menus to find the best food.

    Dorm Life

The dorm life is amazing! I made some of my best friend living in the dorms my first year.

    Academic Rigor

This really depends on your major. Some majors require much more work than others and are definitely more time consuming.

    Tips for prospective students

Some teachers aren't as good as other but this also depends on your learning style. Definitely ask around to figure out who the best teachers to take are. Don't be too nervous going in the campus is not as big as it seems and within a few weeks you'll know all around campus.

    In three sentences

It has a great atmosphere and people who are always willing to help out. Everyone intermingles so it hard to tell a difference between the classes unless you ask. All round it's a really nice campus.

    Campus Safety

Although there have been a few scares throughout the year, I am confident in saying that BGSU is a safe campus overall. The school provides escorts for students at anytime, has it's own police force, bus routes that are designed to eliminate walking alone at night, and many more services that facilitate a safe environment for all students.

    Greek Life

BGSU supports many units of Greek life. There are many chances to join in if interested, and each house it great! Each sorority or fraternity has a charity that they do fundraising for, as well as providing much needed school spirit throughout the year.

    Clubs and Activities

There are tons of clubs and organizations available on campus. Getting involved is easy and highly encouraged throughout the college. There is literally a club for any interest, and if you cannot find something that interests you, it is possible for any student to make their own club.

Great for these types of students

BGSU is great for many types of students, but especially for those who are outgoing and hard working. These students tend to flourish at BG because there are so many ways to get involved.

Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus

One of my personal favorite unusual locations on campus is the greenhouse. The keeper of the greenhouse is a very friendly and welcoming individual who is eager to help students or just show them the amazing variety of plants growing there.

    Bang for the buck

BGSU is a great college for the money spent. Although tuition is on the rise, prospective students will not regret the decision to finance their education at Bowling Green State University.

    What to do for fun

BGSU has an incredible amount of activities that students can join in for fun. There is always an athletic event going on, and students get in each for free! For those not into sports, the city of Bowling Green is filled with wonderful shops and pubs, each of which are unique and always provide a good time!

    Food and Dining

BGSU offers a wide variety of dining choices, with two new buffet style facilities that are very popular. It is easy to make healthy choices in each of the dining facilities as well.

    Dorm Life

The dorms are fairly nice, and come in a variety of price ranges and sizes. Each floor has a Residential Advisor who is there to help residents in any way possible. Students can choose the dorm, floor, and room they would like to live in., which is very nice as well.

    Academic Rigor

The academics at Bowling Green State University are challenging, but not overbearing. Faculty and staff are encouraging and want each student to succeed, so they are very helpful in providing tutoring and supplemental learning if needed.

    Tips for prospective students

If considering applying to BGSU, make sure to have a FASFA filled out. Many scholarships are provided based on financial need, which could make or break your decision to attend BGSU.

    In three sentences

I would give Bowling Green State University an overall score of 4 out of 5 stars. BGSU is a great school, featuring challenging courses and outstanding faculty and staff. BGSU upholds many values including tolerance, acceptance, and diversity.

I feel pretty safe on campus. There is always lots of other students around, campus police, shuttles at night, all around pretty safe campus.

    Bang for the buck

It is a little more pricey than what I would prefer but you do get your moneys worth for the most part except for books. BGSU is great at creating their own version of books which means you can't find alternative places to buy them and then have a difficult time reselling them.

    Food and Dining

Haven't ever gotten anything I didn't like. Many places around campus make it nice to have choices without leaving campus.

    Dorm Life

Can't really comment on this as I have never lived in the dorm. I have family in the area so I was able to live with them.

    Academic Rigor

Many classes are challenging academically. Few are geared a little easy and don't challenge me personally.

    In three sentences

Always something fun and/or exciting going on around campus. Prices are moderate (not too high but not cheap).

    Clubs and Activities

There are hundreds of clubs you could join, and a lot of them are really active.

Great for these types of students

Just about everyone! We have a decent music program, and a lot of good teachers come out of our halls.

Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus

The university seal sits in the middle of old campus (not the animal. Don't get excited) and you can only pass it to the right. Also in old campus is a sculpture entitled 'metamorphosis'. It's got a different name from us students.

    What to do for fun

Usually I just hang out with my friends in the dorms, but it's not that far of a walk into town, so you can do that just to window shop during the day, or go out to the clubs at night. There are also a lot of events, many of them free, that are offered to students. You won't be bored!

    Food and Dining

There are many options, and the food is okay. Some places are better than others, some places are more crowded than others. The biggest problem is how out of the way some of the dining halls are.

    Dorm Life

I love it. Some of the older dorms don't have air conditioning, but it really isn't something you notice. My floor has been super respectful, but it all depends on where you're living.

    Academic Rigor

It's a state school, so about 3/4 of the classes are designed to be passed. It all depends on what classes you take.

    Tips for prospective students

Apply, whether you think you'll attend or not. Take a tour or two, talk one-on-one with someone who already attends. As with any college, you need to hear it from different perspectives.

    Safest campus I know!!

    Greek Life

I'm Greek! And obviously, I think it's amazing!! We've got about 16 social fraternities (male only), 13 Panhellenic sororities (nationwide, women only), multicultural Greek organizations, and several National Pan-Hellenic organizations (predominately African-American).

Our mascots are Freddie and Frieda Falcon. You can see them walking around campus and conversing with students. We've also got a secret spirit group named SIC SIC. They post messages around the school. I love our traditions. They may be a little weird at first, but I think they make our school unique and different.

    What to do for fun

    Food and Dining

I don't really like the food. There's not much variety after a while, and if you're vegan or a vegetarian you won't have much luck finding food to eat. However, BGSU is undergoing a major change in the food arena. We've got several new places to eat and our main dining hall (The Falcons Nest) is undergoing a renovation for Fall 2012!!

    Dorm Life

I love the dorms! I plan on living there for all four years. Some dorms have food courts in them and some have learning communities. Most dorms are very open and it's easy to make friends.

    Academic Rigor

    What to do for fun

BGSU has so much to do for students. They have an ice rink, they have two concerts a year for students, there is a golf coarse, and just so many activities and clubs for everyone!

    Food and Dining

BGSU has delicious food all over campus. They have a new frozen yogurt cafe so that students can enjoy a tasty treat with some friends. They also have built a new dining place called The Oaks, it is a very fun atmosphere with so many choices of food to pick from.

    Dorm Life

The dorm life at BGSU is so cool! The dorms give you a chance make lots of new friends! BGSU has a dorm for freshman that is only a year old and every room has its very own bathroom.

    Academic Rigor

Every time I speak to an advisor they are so helpful! They answer any questions a student has right away and offers help with almost anything! When i went to orientation to schedule classes my advisor helped me pick out classes that went toward my major and were required.

    Tips for prospective students

Some tips I would share with prospective students would be to visit BGSU. I had never even considered going there until my friend offered to take me on a visit, once i took my first few steps on the gorgeous campus ground I knew it was THE one. I would also tell them to apply early and choose BGSU before October so that they could sign up for housing and be housed in the brand new Cenntenial dorms that have their own bathrooms.

    In three sentences

Bowling Green State University is a beautiful place filled with delightful people. There is something magical in the air that just puts every one in a good mood! There is so much to do and so many generous people to help you.

    What to do for fun

There are a large number of clubs to join. The small town right next to the campus is also very nice to hang out in. There are several cool shops and clubs for night life.

    Food and Dining

Depends on where you go. There are some excellent places in the student union. However, stay away from the Dial. The Oaks is wonderful.

    Dorm Life

    Too expensive and too small.

    Academic Rigor

    The courses are challenging.

    Tips for prospective students

Don't live on campus if you can help it. It's much more expensive than an apartment and it's very small.

    In three sentences

Fantastic Counseling. Payment is only easy online, it's rather unpleasant in person. The teachers are generally interested in your well being.

    Campus Safety

Very good safety because it is out of the city and students are not wondering the streets.

    Greek Life

    not familure

    Clubs and Activities

Bowling green is somewhat rual so you would have to go to the city for more activiy. The college it self does have many activities to belong to and stay active.

Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus

About 40 min north, on the lake, is a great New Year's tradition that has been fetured on the David Letterman Show. In the town of Port Clinton, Oh. on new years, raise and drop a massive whallie fish and party all night because fishing is so important in that area.

    Bang for the buck

BGSU has a great sports and music program so excurricular should be good choices.

    What to do for fun

Bowling Green is near the town so there are things to do but it is not a city. The real city is toledo and that would be about an hrs drive.

    Food and Dining

Students be warry of buying the meal ticket with your dorm because the cost is so high and the turn out is so low.

    Dorm Life

Dorm life is not so modern, but it is also located not so far from the main class buildings which is agravating in some schools.

    Academic Rigor

this school was good on academics. They knew that students had jobs to go to and not overwhelm them with extra busywork.

    Tips for prospective students

This school is great but you will have to park and walk many miles from your car. Also you may want to visit a couple of times to not get so overwhelmed.

    In three sentences

I rate this school with an 8 because it has so many programs for students to go into. Also they have a verity of masters programs to continue your academics.

    Campus Safety

Bowling Green State University is located within the small town of Bowling Green, Ohio where safety is a guaranteed. BGSU has on campus police officers whose job is to make sure that each student is safe.

    What to do for fun

Joining clubs at Bowling Green is ONE thing to do for fun. Secondly, sports games--attend as many sporting events as you possibly can, I would consider it college entertainment! Bowling Green Bowling Alley is another place students love to hang out with one another and enjoy themselves.

    Food and Dining

ALL YOU CAN EAT! Does that ring a bell?! BGSU's campus has two all-you-can-eat diners with various foods and drinks to meet the needs of every student.

    Dorm Life

What every new student would love to know! Dorm life at Bowling Green consist of Wi-Fi, a meal plan, television cable as well as a warm shower! Who wouldn't love it?! For some students, dorm life is better than home life.

    Academic Rigor

Professors at BGSU are great teachers, they understand the mind of a college student. One thing that students should remember is that asking questions is a MUST--if you do not understand, do ask. One duty of a professor is to be sure that each student is getting a full and thorough understanding of each lesson.

    Tips for prospective students

When going off to college whether it be Bowling Green State University or any other college across the land, you must have an open mind. College is a great experience for students looking to learn and expand their adulthood.

    In three sentences

BGSU has a wonderful campus filled with spirited people and architecturally exquisite buildings! The environment is extremely friendly and safe to my knowledge. College is what you make it, at Bowling Green State University you WILL make it far!

Great for these types of students

Students who like to party or education majors.

    What to do for fun

There are a lot of different clubs to get involved in. Whatever your interest, I can almost guarantee there will be a club for it.

    Food and Dining

There is a good variety, and most of the food tastes good but I am sure that it is not exceptionally healthy.

    Dorm Life

You can usually meet a lot of good friends but the RA's tend to not do a very good job of making sure that the residents are quiet during quiet hours. Plus, there are fire drills all the time in the middle of the night. It could be 4 am in the middle of winter, and you have to go outside and wait for the fire drill to be over.

    Academic Rigor

Teachers are very willing to meet with you outside of class to help you.

    Tips for prospective students

Get a 4.0 in high school so that you can get lots of scholarships, and do not live on campus. It is much cheaper to live in an apartment.

    In three sentences

It is a beautiful campus, but I feel that it is very expensive. Every extra little thing that they can make you pay for is taken advantage of, such as parking, printing, and use of the gym (even if you do not use it). The majority of the teachers, however, are genuinely concerned about your education and put forth a lot of effort trying to give you the best education possible.

    Campus Safety

There are blue lights all across campus with an emergency button, and you cannot stand at one blue light without seeing another blue light. I've never felt unsafe on campus, even after attending a play that ended after 10pm across campus from my dorm.

    Greek Life

I don't know much about greek life, but I do know there is a fraternity for theater that allows girls and guys.

    Clubs and Activities

During the first or second week of classes, they hold an event where all of the clubs and organizations set up tables for students to visit and learn about the different things to do on campus. There are hundreds of tables set up for this near University Hall and the BTSU. I recommend Dance Marathon where they dance for 36 hours straight FOR THE KIDS!

Great for these types of students

Students that don't mind that the wind blows almost every day. Students that don't mind rain. Students that like a cooler climate. Students that are looking to be business majors because I've been told that BGSU has a very good business program. Students that enjoy art and theater because they have a magnificent art building with several galleries, and a beautiful new theater called the Wolfe Center.

Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus

There are several ghost stories that BGSU has. One of which is Alice. It's not for certain how she died, but she occupies the two theaters in University Hall (which are now unused with the addition of the Wolf Center). And it's said that if the stage manager does not invite her to the performance of a play after the dress rehersal, she wreaks havoc on the performances. There is also the Seal in front of University Hall. You should always walk to the right of the seal because if you walk to the left of it, it will bring you bad luck. Also, if you kiss your boyfriend or girlfriend on the seal at midnight, they say you'll be together forever. My boyfriend and I tried it, we'll see how that goes.

    Bang for the buck

The weather is a little so-so sometimes; the wind is something to get used to. But overall, it's a great place. I attended the 2011 fall semester, and didn't attend the spring semester and I greatly missed having so much to do and look forward to returning.

    What to do for fun

As I mentioned before, I love techno/house/dubstep music, so Koncrete Jungle is the place to go to have fun and listen to good music. BGSU has their own version of Humans Vs. Zombies, and they also have a quidditch team.

    Food and Dining

The food is absolutely amazing. I recommend the strawberry lemonade from the pub (inside the Bowen Thompson Student Union), and to try the buffalo chicken wings from The Sundial. There is also a Starbucks and a Pinkberry frozen yogurt place that accept your mealplan!

    Dorm Life

Overall, dorm life is great. The water pressure is perfect for relaxing in the shower after a long day of classes, there are washers and driers in the dorm so you don't have to take your laundry to a laundromat, there are computer labs and lounges, and when you're good friends with your neighbors and roomate, it makes it all the better.

    Academic Rigor

You will be kept on your toes as far as academics, but it can be handled. Most classes have essays to write, but not the one hundred page essays you hear about on T.V. And if you feel like it's too much to handle, there are plenty of options to help you succeed.

    Tips for prospective students

Try the strawberry lemonade at the Pub, try feeding the squirrels (yes, some will come up to you) and just get out there and meet people. It's a great place to be if you dive into the social scene, I highly reccommend checking out Koncrete Jungle at the Klazel on Main Street!

    In three sentences

Bowling Green is a friendly, beautiful campus with a variety of things to do for any student. The professors are helpful, and the classes are small. And the dining halls serve fantastic food!

There is a quarry located just a few minutes away from campus in which tons of students go. it is like our own beach getaway from Ohio farmland.

    Bang for the buck

Bowling Green offers great hometown services to entertain students.

    What to do for fun

Even though Bowling Green is small, the town provides many shops in their downtown area, along with other entertainment options such as a movie theatre and bowling, etc.

    Food and Dining

Bowling Green also just built new dining facilities for students which provide a wide variety of food. There are also great restaurants around campus close enough for students to walk to as well.

    Dorm Life

Bowling Green has just built two new dorm facilities, which are incredibly nice and dorm life is the perfect way to meet new friends and gather a social life for the students.

    Academic Rigor

The staff here care about their students, especially when the student makes the effort to be a part of the class and criteria in which they are learning. Going to office hours and participating in class shows the professor that you care, and in turn, they will help you understand the material in order to pass the class.

    Tips for prospective students

Try something new. Bowling Green provides an incredible amount of different areas of interest to try. For example, I am the Vice President of the Student Art Education Association, member of the Sigma Alpha Pi: National Society of Leadership and Success, along with volunteer in many Charity organizations such as Bike For Tykes raising over $81,000 for children in need of medical care.

    In three sentences

Bowling Green State University is an excellent opportunity for aspiring students to get involved with many aspects of college life. It allows for the chance to meet new people, make connections, join clubs and organizations, as well as acquiring an excellent education. Even for being a smaller campus, I have had a great experience in my two years being here and transferring is the greatest decision I have made.

So many resources from the blue lights literally everywhere, campus shuttle services that also takes students down to the bars at night which is very nice for safety and then the bg alerts system that is linked up with campus police and notifies for any crime or weather related occurrences. I can honestly say I have never really felt unsafe, even when I would walk home late from Lot 12 someone would also always be out or I would see the campus police whom make rounds 24/7

    Greek Life

Greek life on campus is okay... I was involved in Greek life for 2.5 years and didn't have that great of an experience with it. So whatever floats your boat... I won't bash anyone in particular but it's a lot of drama (at least the organization I was in) REMEMBER YOU ARE A STUDENT FIRST!!! Greek life takes up A LOT of time!!!!!!!

    Clubs and Activities

    Something for everyone...

SICSIC is a secret club to pump up school spirit consisting of 2 sophomores 2 juniors and 2 seniors (Google it)

    Bang for the buck

Basically school is expensive everywhere... and we are all in debt so might as well have fun wherever you go. Just work on getting as many scholarships ... (and keeping them)

    What to do for fun

The best way to make friends and have fun is honestly going through campus fest usually held in Sept/Oct and sign up for any club that you think you might be interested in. At BGSU we seriously have something for everyone... from Warm Up BG to TOMS CLUB to Greek Life. It all just depends on who you want to be associated with in College... Parties are everywhere so there won't be a problem finding one... EVER!

    Food and Dining

So the food isn't the greatest but I think a lot of it has to do with the redundancy of eating on campus 95% of the year. However a lot of new changes are to be expected this year for BGSU dining so I can only hope it'll be for the better.

    Dorm Life

BGSU has very nice residence halls (especially the new ones) but I lived in Mac my freshman year and it honestly made my college experience... if you want the true party scene mac is where it's at. But if you are looking to raise your GPA from living in Mac freshman year ;) then Falcon Heights or Founders would probably be your best bet because sometimes in FH I felt like I was living in a ghost town.

    Academic Rigor

I would say that college can be as difficult as you want to make it. There will be tough classes especially the ones you don't want to take; but when you get into classes for your major you should be interested in the subjects and it's easy breezy. But the course load can pile up if you don't stay on top of your work or develop steady routine study habits; DO NOT LET THIS HAPPEN YOU WILL DROWN!!!

    Tips for prospective students

Take as many PSEO classes as possible.. especially for writing because my friends that had to take GSW hated it. Also be open to meeting new friends especially during orientations and freshman move in!

    In three sentences

I love the campus, everyone is very nice and willing to get to know others. I also love all of the new buildings and residence halls, there is something for everyone and every budget. Our winters may be nasty but the campus buildings are so compact and close together it really isn't a huge deal!

    Campus Safety

The BGSU Campus Police are always alert, responsive, and friendly. There are also numerous alert stations where students can contact police, fire, or rescue services if needed. In addition to these safety precautions, BGSU is a relatively small campus, and as such, trouble on campus rarely happens, and if it does, it is a minor inconvenience that is handled swiftly and responsibly by campus and/or city police.

    Greek Life

Although I am not familiar with Greek Life on campus personally, I do know that there are a large number of Fraternities and Sororities located mostly on-campus, as well as a few off-campus. While most of the on-campus Greek housing are located within their own self-contained housing units, the remaining are found in Conklin East and Conklin West Halls.

    Clubs and Activities

There are over 300 different Clubs sponsored on the BGSU campus. Activities are sponsored by such Clubs, as well as Departments and Residence Halls. Campus activities are very abundant and there is something for everyone. As for Clubs, from Honor Societies, to Outdoor Programs, to Geology Club, to helping the local Humane Society, to Live-Action Role-Playing, to a Humans vs. Zombies game known as BG Undead, to politically-affiliated organizations, to sustainability, to sport clubs, including a Quidditch Team; if you name it, BGSU probably has it.

Great for these types of students

BGSU is great for students who want to experience the college life, earn an education, have a feeling of responsibility and independence, but do not want to feel trapped inside the boundaries of a college campus. The small size of both the campus and its student body provide students with the choice of spending their time both on and off campus.

Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus

The Bowling Green State University Seal is located south of the Student Union. Unusual tradition: always walk on the right side of the seal when passing it, especially if heading to class. Walking on the right side of the seal is said to bring good luck, while walking on the left side is considered bad luck - especially for those heading to take tests.

    Bang for the buck

Overall, I must say that BGSU is not only a wonderful college experience, it is also a relatively cheap college experience, when compared to schools such as Ohio State University, University of Michigan, University of Cincinnati, or many of the other universities in the region.

    What to do for fun

Sporting events, club activities, spending time with friends, Hall programs, traveling downtown, movie showings, bowling, playing music, and much more. I could list many more general options, but I guess the point I'm trying to make is this, if you can think of it, BGSU probably has something that will entertain you.

    Food and Dining

Choices for meal plans here at BGSU include Traditional/AYCE, Custom (mixed), and Retail. A Traditional/AYCE (All You Care to Eat) plan provides students with the option of using a swipes system to eat as much as they want, as long as they want, but only at two dining halls. A Retail Plan offers students Falcon Dollars (also known as Dining Dollars) that can be used at any dining hall on campus, including the AYCE buildings. However, it will cost you more to go to the AYCE facilities than a regular Retail dining hall if you have the Retail Plan. A Custom, or mixed, plan will provide students with a mixture of both Falcon Dollars and Swipes.

    Dorm Life

Depending on whether or not you are an upperclassman, a part of a learning community, or joining a fraternity/sorority, you might be limited to your selection of Residence Halls. Freshman are eligible to live in Centennial Hall, Conklin North Hall, Harshman Quadrangle, Kohl Hall, Kreischer Quadrangle, McDonald Hall, Offenhauer Towers, and possibly Falcon Heights Hall or fraternity/sorority housing. For Upperclassmen, your choices include all of the above, excluding Centennial Hall (first-year students only), but including Founders Hall (upperclassmen only). If at all possible, I would suggest to avoid McDonald and Offenhauer for incoming residents, as they are notorious for being the party dorms.

    Academic Rigor

Some classes may simply seem to be for fun, or if the courses are for your major, might seem not only enjoyable, but rather easy. However, general education requirements here at BGSU can challenge students more than they might expect. If you are a science major, you should be prepared to take a required number of humanities, arts, and social science courses. On the other hand, if you are an art major, you should be prepared to take a required number of science courses relating to biology, mathematics, and chemistry. Although these courses might seem challenging, they serve as General Education requirements to provide students with a stimulating environment and knowledge of other professions in the world.

    Tips for prospective students

No matter what college prospective students choose to attend, as long as it seems to be the academic institution most suited to them, there should be no argument. However, if students are considering to attend BGSU, then they should know that the educational environment offered here is not only an enriching experience, but also provides a more close-knit community and costs less than comparable schools. Adapting to the college lifestyle may be difficult for some students. If they live close enough, commuting to BGSU might be the best option, but living on campus has many benefits (room and board, a sense of independence and responsibility, and many activities to occupy your time, etc.). One consideration I would advise prospective students is to compare your meal plan options. I would highly suggest choosing the Retail Plan option, as it provides the most flexibility, in my experience.

    In three sentences

BGSU is a smaller, student-oriented college with about 20,000 undergraduate students and plenty of majors to choose from. Instructors provide challenging, yet informative, lectures, labs, discussions, and activities to help stimulate students to the college environment. More than anything, an education at BGSU is not only stimulating, but a wonderful, and lifelong experience for students.

    Campus Safety

The campus safety is great! Everywhere you walk you will see at least one cop car on the way. Everyone is very helpful in helping to keep the environment safe and protect the students.

    Clubs and Activities

The are about 3,000 clubs and organizations to take part in, so whatever is your interest I am sure there is a club for you!

    Bang for the buck

I think Bowling Green State University gives you the bang for your buck. There is nothing I absolutely do not like about this campus so far. All of my professors are very nice and helpful. The environment is friendly and full of fun. The food options are marvelous. All around, the campus is an amazing place to live and learn! I would recommend BGSU to everyone!

    What to do for fun

There are tons of organizations on campus to get involved in for fun. But some other activities that a student at BGSU could do for fun is group exercise classes at the recreation center, swimming, rollerblading, biking, going out to clubs, climbing the rock wall, and socializing with friends.

    Food and Dining

The all you can eat dining halls at BGSU are phenomenal. There is always a different variety of foods, and replenished freshly when needed. Also, the Student Union has a variety of food locations including Jamba Juice, Steak Escape, Panda Express, Starbuck, ect. I love having all the food options; my stomach is never unsatisfied.

    Dorm Life

Some students think that coming to college means absolute freedom, but that is not the case. On each floor of each hall there is an RA who is in charge of all the students living on that floor. Everyone has quiet hours between certain hours, and if one comes in too late then you have to check in at the front desk. The dorm rooms are very nice and equipped with necessities (desk, wardrobe, dresser, ect.)

    Academic Rigor

The academic rigor at Bowling Green State University is fair. The courses can be difficult at time, but that is what is expected from college. If challenges appear, professors are more than welcome to answer questions or explain situations.

    Tips for prospective students

Always take the opportunity to use the Learning Commons located in the Library to help with tutoring. Also, try to become part of a learning community or residential community.

    In three sentences

Bowling Green State University has wonderful professors, staff, and student resources. Everyone around campus is very helpful, and I feel completely comfortable and at home here. Bowling Green has many organizations to get involved in, so a student will never be bored if they attend college here.

    Campus Safety

The overall persona of the city of Bowling Green is very safe, especially with the special enforcement on campus of campus security. The thought of feeling threatened while attending school at BGSU is much rarer than in other areas.

    Greek Life

BGSU has many sorority and frat opportunities for those individuals looking to pursue joining a specific family on campus.

    Clubs and Activities

There are over 300 student organizations at BGSU, and anytime something has been ignored there is the opportunity to create it!

Great for these types of students

Any student that wants to feel welcomed into a college campus should attend BGSU. Also, the area is very accommodating to those that are used to rural living, with a vast campus that involves nature (trees and grass!). Any student attending BGSU will feel like they get to transform their own college experience, due to the flexibility of the college. Therefore, anyone who wants to take control of their future and mold the outcomes would be able to appreciate the characteristics of BGSU.

Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus

Ay Ziggy Zumba is the fight song for BGSU, which is unique in itself. At BGSU their are actually two mascots, Freddy and Frieda Falcon, who are brother and sister (most schools only have one mascot). There is also an organization titled SIC SIC which is a group of masked supporters that show school spirit throughout the year and vandalize the campus with encouraging signs. These individuals are extremely secretive in their whereabouts and identifications.

    Bang for the buck

Both Bowling Green and BGSU campus are in favor of college students, and reflect understanding as to the financial pinch that many students find themselves in. Although tuition rates are typical of many colleges, being a student at BGSU comes with it's benefits. All falcon sporting events are free of charge, as well as a membership to the rec, and also the majority of campus activities are free as well (if a student ID is presented). The college also is able to pair up with many businesses in the community to offer college discounts.

    What to do for fun

There are so many fun things to do through BGSU campus, as well as throughout the town! The recreation center (the rec) on campus offers a variety of entertainment options, such as exercise classes, intramural sports, gym equipment, and serves as an overall sports house (hosting swimming, track, and basketball). Events are always held throughout campus for students to attend, and there are over 300 student organizations to become involved with as well!

    Food and Dining

The food on campus is outstanding. Not only is there variety in the choices of food and ethnicity of food, but there are a variety of different styles of eating as well. BGSU offers AYCE (All You Care to Eat) facilities that work off of a flat fee to enter, as well as carry-out services, and even food-court style. In addition to the styles indicated above, their is restaurant style as well in the Campus Pub. The quality of food on BGSU campus is exceptional in itself, with qualified chefs preparing and creating dishes in all locations.

    Dorm Life

The dorms at BGSU are fantastic. Student involvement on the floors of the dorm is also phenomenal. With the new dorms being constructed in the last couple of years, BGSU has learned how to truly accommodate their students with class. Anyone staying in a dorm on BGSU's campus should take advantage and be grateful for the wonderful services that are provided for students.

    Academic Rigor

There are truly many different levels of academics at BGSU. Some classes range from 1000-4000 levels, with the top being the most difficult. However, BGSU is very helpful in the sense that the earlier classes prepare students for the later classes (which will be taken during the junior and senior years). Also, although students are expected to excel in the classroom and give adequate effort, professors are extremely helpful and an unbelievable amount of resources are offered to students in order to accommodate any difficulty that they may encounter. As a student you are expected to put effort into your studies, but you'll find that you are never alone and there is someone who wants to see you succeed at every turn.

    Tips for prospective students

Prospective students should really explore all of the options that BGSU has to offer, and check out the many services that it offers it's students. Yes, some are more appealing than others (for example: the new dining facilities and sports complex), but BGSU assists students on many other angles as well. Also, don't be afraid to try anything on campus! Everyone is extremely welcoming and willing to help, especially if it's your first time with an experience! Also, make sure to bring some WARM clothing for winter, and an umbrella. Snow boots are essential!

    In three sentences

Bowling Green State University would receive a five-star ranking in my opinion. The campus is diverse, student friendly with a dedicated staff, and a safe environment is offered that is welcoming to all. BGSU faculty and staff are always attentive and perceptive as to ways to make the campus experience better for attending and prospective students, which in return creates a campus that never stops improving and impressing it's students.

Great for these types of students

Bowling Green is great for students who enjoy a rural setting. The campus is quiet but still is great for new students looking for friends and a education. Also BGSU is a small campus for students who enjoy a smaller setting.

    Campus Safety

Campus is a very safe place. There are lights all over the place to make sure no one is walking completely in the dark and a shuttle runs until 2:30 a.m. on weekends or 10:00 p.m. on weekdays to get people around campus or even take them off campus. There are emergency phones within eyesight everywhere on campus.

    Clubs and Activities

There are over 300 clubs and organizations on campus and the largest student-run organization is BG Undead where students can take Nerf guns, balled up socks, and standard-size marshmallows to defeat the zombies and survive the apocalypse! The largest organization with an adviser is Your Fellow Falcon. That organization is a way of giving back and doing things for fellow students. They have random days where they throw candy at people or have a hot chocolate stand in the Union Circle during the winter (for free!). They also promote humanism like holing the door open for fellow students and picking up trash.

Great for these types of students

Any type of student could do well here.

Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus

The Thinking Man next to Olscamp, there is the Painted Rock at the Fine Arts Building and Kreisher, the University Seal in Old Campus next to Williams Hall... If you kiss your lover at midnight under the full moon on the right side of the seal, you will be together forever. Or, if you walk on the right side of the seal (NEVER the Left!), you will have good luck on your first exam.

    What to do for fun

The movie theater in town becomes a club on the weekends and that is pretty cool. There are a lot of local restaurants and cafes that are completely unique to Bowling Green. Toledo is just a quick jaunt up the highway where there are two malls, a zoo, and two museums. There are also many different organizations on campus that hold events and workshops. The most fun thing that I have done is go on a build for Habitat for Humanity.

    Food and Dining

Some of the food is strange. Ratatouille is one that I have tried for the first time this year and ended up liking. The only thing that really is weird is Swiss cheese with eggs and powdered eggs. Usually the food is pretty good and there are many different places to eat. There are even locations called The Outtakes where students can buy pop and microwave meals like at a convenience store.

    Dorm Life

Centennial Hall is the newest residence hall with Falcon Heights. Centennial is freshmen-only and Falcon Heights is typically upperclassmen. The other residence halls will be going through some form of renovation within the next five years. It is very interesting living in a dorm because there are so many people all living together under one roof. It can be loud and smell weird when someone hasn't washed their socks in over two weeks, but mostly it has been fun! The Resident Advisers all have an event once a week to invite the whole floor to and they are pretty awesome.

    Academic Rigor

It can be rough at times. As an interior design major, there are many different projects and studios that require about three hours each outside of class for each hour in class. The gen-eds are just as time-consuming but require no prerequisites so they can be done with by sophomore year. Many teachers have at least two exams before the final at the end of the semester. Most of the time these exams are not cumulative and will only be over the material covered from the last six weeks or so. It is not hard to get an A as long as you go to class and keep up with the work. It sounds hard, but it really is not as long as you remember why you are going to college in the first place.

    Tips for prospective students

Hang in there and ask for help when you need it! There are many different resources for academic, social, and even emotional help on campus. Attend workshops and join at least one club or organization your freshman year because that is the fastest way to meet new people and make friends. If your roommate is not who they said they were in the survey, don't freak out. Sometimes a conversation is all it takes to get the ball rolling again.

    In three sentences

Bowling Green State University is a beautiful campus with the perfect mix of old and new. The professors are very willing to take time and work with students individually and class sizes (that are not lectures) typically do not exceed twenty-four people. The best part is the very tight-knit student network of clubs, organizations, and friends that motivate and help each other out.

    Campus Safety

As far as campus safety goes there are peds which each student who lives in a dorm has, and this ensures that no one can enter into that building unless they have one, so no random people will walk in unless they are guests. There is the campus police who is on duty at all times and are very easy to contact. Also, along with the police is the campus security, so here at BGSU it is safe for the most part.

    What to do for fun

For fun there are many different organizations that you can join, and then of course there's your typical weekend college parties.

    Food and Dining

The food and dining has a bit of a variety. If you choose to eat in the union then you can choose from panda express and steak escape just to name a couple. The dining halls are buffet style and served similar things, but you can eat as much as you want.

    Dorm Life

Some dorms are shared amongst two people and others just you by yourself. There are ones that have a community bathroom and the others have a bathroom within the dorm room itself, which is shared with just you and your roommate. Not all have air, and some have to wait for the heat to be turned on by a main heater, and then they are allowed to control it. Most dorms have a theme for each hall, which is really cool.

    Academic Rigor

There is a thing called academic probation. This is for students who do not maintain a GPA of 2.2 or higher, if you are placed on this then you will need to meet the standards in order to continue the following semester.

    Tips for prospective students

Be on time, prepared, and stay up on your readings for class.

Great for these types of students

Anyone looking to do what is called distance learning, or basically online degree programs, will have a wide variety of majors to choose from. If you are unable to travel or don't have the time to attend classes due to job, family, or financial reasons, BGSU is a great place to consider.

    Bang for the buck

Although tuition prices are going up at most colleges, BGSU has kept a decent limit on these increases. For my particular program, and it being an online program, I feel the costs are competitive with most any other college, but most other colleges do not offer an M.A. in English online.

    Academic Rigor

The academic rigor at BGSU is strong. I have definitely been challenged in many ways with what I know already and what I need to learn in order to be a better teacher. I have made mistakes, but my professors are always willing to work with me to help prepare me for the future.

    Tips for prospective students

Really do your research at all of the schools you are considering and make an attempt to contact a professor(s) at the school in order to get answers to your questions. You will have a better chance of being successful if you know everything about your school and your program options if you ask questions.

    In three sentences

BGSU offers a wide variety of online classes, which is why I chose to enroll in the M.A. program for English. For those of you who like Harry Potter, there is a Harry Potter club and they play quidditch. There are also clubs for most majors and for pretty much anything else.

    Food and Dining

Being a vegetarian it is probably more challenging to eat than those who eat meat, but there are plenty of options for everyone! Some days are better than others at the All You Care To Eat places, but overall the food is good. Since BGSU isn't an enormous campus, there are not a TON of options on campus, but there are quite a few and there are a bunch of restaurants to choose from right next to the campus. Pita Pit is a must!

    Dorm Life

The RA's are extremely nice and always there if you need to talk to someone. It's nice to just be around a bunch of people sometimes.

    Academic Rigor

I'm sure it depends on your major and your professors, but this is college and not high school so just do your work and you will be fine!

    Tips for prospective students

Make sure you ask for help if you need it! If you're a morning person, campus is pretty quiet in the AM, so going to get breakfast is always nice or just walking around before class can help relieve stress.

    Dorm Life

Falcon Heights, Centennial, and Founders are the best dorms. In these dorms, the rooms have bathrooms in the rooms. The other dorms have community bathrooms which are terrible. Overall, the dorm life is not so bad after all. Living in the dorms are a good opportunity to get to meet new people.

    Academic Rigor

I feel that the classes here at BGSU are challenging. A challenge is well needed in order to grow.

We have a campus Seal and it is said to be good luck if you stand on the seal with a significant other and kiss exactly at 12am, then you will have good luck in your relationship or something like that and this same seal can bring you bad luck if when you are walkin towards it, you walk around the left side and so everyone alway walks to the right of the seal.

    What to do for fun

If you join on campus organizations there is always something to do. Even if you are not a part of a certain organization, every organization is happy to have drop-ins where you'd join in on an event that they may put on like a video game day, fashion show, step show, party, and so much more. Main Street is where a lot of BGSU students go to get off campus and enjoy the city a little more on the weekends. There is a whole strip on Main Street of Restaurants, Bars, Dance Clubs, and small boutiques. This is a nice area to go and hang out with friends and meet other students or residents of Bowling Green. A lot of students from Toledo University visit this area and love it just as much as we BGSU students do. Aside from organizations and taking a trip into the town, there are sports, and the rec center where you can workout, or simply sit out by the pond and fish. We now have a new musical arts building where plays are put on and the art building is fun to visit and view all of the different art forms that are put up every once in a while. There are a huge number things to do at BGSU, just pay us a visit and you will see.

    Food and Dining

The food and dining at BGSU has changed drastically in the past year. You have two types of ways that you can pay for food on campus: falcon dollars and meal plan. Meal plan is the money that you use to pay for meals and actual healthy foods at the dining halls and falcon dollars are more so the money that you use to pay for special types of things like snack foods or things from special types of restaurants like Star Bucks, Dunkin Donuts, PinkBerry, and what have you. There is a nice selection of restaurants to go to on campus and a lot of new dining halls have been added since last year. There are two floors in the dining halls, televisions, and places that you can study and eat comfortably at the same time. All of the dining halls are pretty well furnished and very comfortable to stay at.

    Dorm Life

Dorm life at BGSU.....It all depends on which dorm that you live in and how much the Resident Advisors actually care about enforcing the rules. My first year at BGSU as a freshman was immaculate. I LOVED my dorm and if I could I would have stayed there but I wanted to get the most out of my experience and try living in a different dorm. Usually the freshman dorms are a lot less orderly but thats natural. If you pay a little extra and sign up form dorm housing soon enough, you may be lucky enough to be placed in an upper class dorm where things are a lot more laid back and calm. The resident Advisors are more chill and not as likely to get on your case. Another big plus to dorm life is being placed in a dorm with a dining hall attached. Unfortunately there were maybe three dorms with dining and two of the dining halls were closed. They are doing reconstruction in one of the two and the other one has not yet been addressed since closing.

    Academic Rigor

BGSU has a mixture of professors that take different approaches to lecturing in their classes. I am personally a science major and so I can only speak from my own experience in the chemistry and biology world but for the most part, the professors do expect you to read. You will rarely get professors who will give you the exact notes to study from via power point presentations. Most of the professors however do provide study guides which will tell you sections of the book to study or difficult questions that may appear on the test. I have been lucky enough to have a few professors who will not require a text book and will actually just use power point or a wiki page.

    Tips for prospective students

GET INVOLVED is our motto and the longer that you are at BGSU, the more you see the benefits of being a part of a club or organization. Never feel too proud to ask for help, there is more than enough help and USE YOUR RESOURCES, they are EVERYWHERE. Dont forget to have fun...school work is important but scientific studies show that students who make time to go out and have fun actually do better in classes and BGSU students know how to have fun!

    In three sentences

Bowling Green State University is the smallest university with the greatest amount of school spirit (especially when it comes to sports). On-campus housing is improving and there are ALWAYS in-dorm events. There are so many active organizations on this campus that there is ALWAYS something to do, you cant really go bored unless you are really trying to.

The food is broken into falcon dollars and swipes. Swipes work at Carillon and The Oaks; you swipe your card and eat all you want. Falcon dollars work at the Falcon's Nest, the Sundial and Outtakes and are just like paying with money that is preloaded onto your card like a debit card.

    Dorm Life

The dorms are pretty central to the campus. For first years I would highly reccomend McDonald. They are renovating it right now and it has a great feeling of community. Most of my first friends I made live on my floor in my hall.

    Academic Rigor

    Campus Safety

Bowling Green's campus is really safe. I am finishing my third year here and there has never been a crime reported. I am sure some things go missing from dorm rooms and stuff, but no one has ever been hurt on campus while I have been here.

    Greek Life

Greek life is the best on BG's campus. They offer membership both the first and second semester, so you don't have to decide right away. There are options to visit each sorority/fraternity and get to know everyone before you make your choice. Once you do, you get a whole new family. My fraternity has meant everything to me, and everyone I know feels the same.

    Clubs and Activities

I was an athlete in high school, so my favorite activities are the intramural sports teams. I play three different intramural sports every year. Everyone can play and it is so much fun.

Great for these types of students

Anyone who wants to be a teacher and anyone who wants to make friends to last a lifetime.

    Bang for the buck

My family is from Chicago but both my brother and sister went to colleges in Ohio too. My education at Bowling Green was the least expensive of the three of us. If you have good grades in high school, BG really tries to make college affordable. They offer lots of scholarships.

    What to do for fun

There are so many things to do for fun, on campus and in town. You are within walking distance to town where there is shopping and lots of restaurants. But staying on campus is even better. There are football, basketball and even hockey games to go to. There are intramural teams you can join, just for fun and a huge indoor swimming pool and rec center.

    Food and Dining

There are too many dining options to list. And when you just want to eat out, that is included in your BG1 Bucks too. The options are really endless.

    Dorm Life

Dorm life at BGSU is awesome. My first year experience was great and I live in an apartment today with four guys who I met on my floor that first year. I lived in the fraternity dorms my second year and that was great too. BGSU is like one big family.

    Academic Rigor

BGSU is a strong academic school, but the classes are not that huge. I have no problem getting help from any of my professors when I need it. There is also tutoring available at no charge.

    Tips for prospective students

Apply early for great scholarships, ecpecially out of state students. Get involved, there are so many things to join or just be a part of and it makes all the difference in your college experience.

    In three sentences

Bowling Green is a friendly and welcoming university. Bowling Green is the highest rated university for receiving an education degree. Bowling Green is a beautiful campus and has added five new buildings just since I have started college here.

    Clubs and Activities

On BG by the dorm Kreisher there is a big boulder that close to every week is painted a different color by a different club on campus. In between Harshman and Kreisher there is open land where the basketball courts are and it is really nice to go out there and sit to study on a nice day.

    Bang for the buck

All sporting events on campus are free to students all you have to do is show your BGSU ID. The tickets for concerts and comedy shows are very inexpensive and the rec center that has the swimming pool and volleyball is free to students as well.

    What to do for fun

There are basketball courts, a swimming pool, a work out center, rock climbing, sporting events, volleyball. There are also concerts scheduled throughout the year and sometimes there are even comedians that come to the campus.

    Food and Dining

The food on campus is very good for the most part. There are days when it is not the best, but for the most part, its very delicious. BUDGET YOUR MONEY! If you do not budget your meal plan you will run out before the end of the semester.

    Dorm Life

The dorm rooms are a good size as long as you don't bring your entire bedroom with you. Try really hard to get along with your roommate because you will be seeing their face everyday for the whole year. If you have a problem talk to them directly about it, do not complain about them behind their back. The Resident Advisers are very nice and make sure that the rules are being followed.

    Academic Rigor

Do not take too many credit hours right away until you know how much you can handle, otherwise you may overwhelm yourself. Start off low and gradually work your way up.

    Dorm Life

I stayed in Centennial Hall my first year, it was one of the best experiences I could have had. It is a first year dorm so everyone was pretty friendly and welcoming. I also felt very safe living there, there was never a moment I felt unsafe.

    Academic Rigor

Some professors may give an extended deadline to students if they ask, but for the most part things have to be turned in on time or credit is lost. Bowling Green State University also takes academic honesty very seriously, so cheating and plagiarism will not be accepted by any means.

    Tips for prospective students

Be prepared for college. The classes aren't difficult but they are challenging, in a good way. Make sure you study and stay updated with the professions by attending class and looking on blackboard/canvas.

BGSU has a phone number that anyone can call and someone will come escort you back home if you are afraid to walk after dark. There are also emergency buttons all over campus that you can push and the police will be alerted to your location.

Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus

You always have to walk to the right of the campus seal, or you'll get bad luck. We have a secret organization called SicSic and only the six most spirited students can join. If you fall in love at BGSU, your significant other is supposed to kiss you on top of the seal at midnight on a full moon, so you'll be together forever. BGSU is built around a cemetery!

    Bang for the buck

As an aviation student, I pay very high fees because the costs of operating an airplane, but its completely worth it. I get to fly very often so I know that I am getting my money's worth. Also, my non-major professors are very invested in their students, in fact every staff member is.

    What to do for fun

We have tons of clubs and sports, over 300 actually. We have things from football to Quidditch (which we are nationally ranked in) and the town of Bowling Green has a great night life. They have 18+ clubs and bars of all styles. Athletic events are free to students and there are concerts at the Stroh Center.

    Food and Dining

There are two AYCE (all you care to eat) facilities on campus where you can get home style food that are open all day long. There are also restaurants in the Student Union and in the Sundial. The food is really good, but sometimes it can get a little boring, and the campus convenience stores, called Outtakes, is over priced.

    Dorm Life

I live in a relatively new dorm this year, and I love it. My room is comfortable and I was matched with really nice roommates. There's always people in the lounges to hang out with and the RA's make plans for the whole floor, like ice skating and family dinners. It's very easy to feel at home.

    Academic Rigor

My honors classes can be challenging, and sometimes I have several exams and papers due in the same week, but its not overwhelming. My transition from high school classes to college courses was smooth. Most importantly, my classes for my major are FUN.

    Tips for prospective students

Apply for housing early to get the best dorm. Pay attention to loan and financial aid deadlines. You want to be on top of things so you can prepare to have the most fun and enriching next 4 years of your life.

    In three sentences

BGSU has an amazing environment, especially for incoming freshman. Everyone on campus is a member of the falcon family and you can feel it from your first day here. I wouldn't want to go anywhere else.

The campus is very safe, they have a hotline for those who are walking back to their dorms after late classes and will even send someone out if you do not feel safe alone. There are police light posts in which you can also press if you get panicked.

    Clubs and Activities

There are a lot of clubs and things to do around campus, they are adding new clubs everyday. You can get involved with such clubs as the Marine Biology club or activities like quidditch.

I wish for a bit more variety on occasion but that is not what we are here for. My favorite Dining Hall is Carillon Place, which is an all you care to eat facility.

    Dorm Life

I do have some complaints, but when you get to live with someone new, you are bound to find some things that must be addressed. Centennial Hall is an amazing dorm hall, it is new has air conditioning, heat, and other amazing features. Even if the people feel that every night is a party, its not a bad dorm. The suites are awesome.

Bowling Green State University is an excellent school, in which can challenge you to do the best that you can and to get involved with this community and the campus itself. The people around here are very helpful, and will be there for you whether you are going through a rough spot or just need a little more help in that least favorite class. This is where getting involved comes into play. There are always campus organization events going on to get involved with to help take a break from studying. Also, downtown Bowling Green is a fun place to walk around with friends on a nice day. There are lots of restaurants and little shops downtown to help pass the time.

    Food and Dining

The food at BG is not the best but not the worst either. I prefer to eat in the union if I have to eat on campus. There is a a Marcos Pizza, BG Sub, Jamba Juice, Steak Escape, Panda Express (My favorite), Chickendipity, and a place to get salad and pasta. I like that their is a variety and gives choices for everyone. Also each residence hall has a dining hall inside of it or one nearby, which is great for on campus students.

    Dorm Life

Dorm life is the most important aspect of college, especially for freshman. The dorms are where you connect and meet all of your friends. The newer dorms are great because they are set up like suites and gives off more of an apartment vibe.

Bowling Green has so many fun things you can do. To start off there are plenty of sports events that you can attend. We are a division I school and our sports teams are really good on how they perform. Also, there is a bowling alley where you can go bowling with friends and hang out. There is a movie theater that is only $1.00 and they play some awesome movies! In the summer there is the BG quarry, where students go and swim and hang out with their friends.

    Food and Dining

The food and dining services on campus could be better. They have really good service but the food they feed us is not something I want to be eating every day. The food is greasy, unhealthy, and looks like it has been sitting out for awhile. The outtakes that the campus has are over marked on their food. They could probably lower the prices on some food.

    Dorm Life

Living in a dorm was the best time of my life! You meet so many diverse people and become friends with the people on your floor. When I first found out that I had community bathrooms, I freaked out. However, when I got to school it wasn't horrible. They are always clean and kept fresh. The janitors in the dorms are extremely good at their job and keeps the dorms clean. Your resident adviser takes extremely good care of you and is there every day to help you with any problems that may occur.

    Campus Safety

I have never felt not safe on and off campus! BGSU has Blue Lights all over campus incase of an emergency, and they even have an escort service you can call if you don't want to walk alone!

    Greek Life

I'm not involved in greek life, but I know we have a strong Greek life. I know a lot of people in Greek Life, and they are all so nice! But like mentioned before you do not have to be a part of greek life to be a part of campus!

    Clubs and Activities

SO MANY CLUBS! You can start new ones, join old ones, and there is a club for everyone!

Great for these types of students

    BGSU IS GREAT FOR EVERYONE!

Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus

The BGSU crest on Historical Campus is SACRED! Every BGSU student must walk around the crest on the right side if you don't want to fail your exams! Also our fight song is crazy, and doesn't contain any real words, but we have hand movements for it which is pretty awesome (you only find it out if you go here)!

    Bang for the buck

BGSU is pretty cheap, but not as cheap as your local community college. If it's too expensive for you and you want to go there APPLY FOR SCHOLARSHIPS! Fill out the FAFSA, and get good grades! Also get a high ACT score! Work hard for it, they offer great money for high SAT/ACT scores!

    What to do for fun

The good thing about BG is that they're very close to fallen timbers mall, levis commons mall, and even franklin park mall in Toledo! There is a ton of shopping around, and in Bowling Green they have some cool shops. Like Grounds for Thought, they have amazing coffee and the Lunar Station, you Hookah hookup! Also the new hookah bar BLO, its retro and even has food and drinks! Also BGSU's night life is awesome! There is always somewhere to go and something to do! We have over 22 bars in BG alone so there is plenty of places to go out! Also there is always events on campus, football games, basketball, volleyball, etc!

    Food and Dining

Enjoy a meal plan! Also I survived on one of the lowest meal plans, so don't spend a lot of money if you don't have to! Check out the dining halls, especially when they do Brinner (Breakfast at dinner) its delicious! Also check out the pub on campus they have great fried pickles, but their service is a little on the slow side so don't go between class unless you have a big gap of time!

    Dorm Life

ENJOY DORM LIFE! Room with new people (not your best friend from high school, I promise it does not work out)! The dorm life is great! A lot of the dorms at BGSU are brand new or remodeled. Also the dorms are close to everything on campus! Also you make some great friends in the dorms, some of my friends I met freshman year in the dorms are my new roommates off campus now! One tip in the dorms, GET YOUR FLU SHOT! Stay healthy, its easy to get sick all cooped up in the dorms with floor mates.

    Academic Rigor

Classes at BGSU are very good. I'm an education major, and I do get a lot of in the field experience. There have been some dud classes with some bad professors, but every college has those. But with every class I have taken, I can not say I didn't learn something.

    Tips for prospective students

Experience everything! Join a club, attend campus events! You don't have to join a sorority or fraternity to be a part of campus life. But if joining them will make you happy, do it! College is truly the time of your life, and it goes so fast! So study hard, apply for as many scholarships as you can, and have fun anywhere you go! Make these years ones to remember, because high school is not the best years of your life, college is!

    In three sentences

BGSU has honestly changed my life. The campus life is so welcoming, I consider BGSU my second home. The teachers and classes are preparing me for my bright future.

    What to do for fun

There is a town area for relaxing and leaving the campus area. You also have work out areas, and sports teams to cheer.

    Food and Dining

You will not leave hungry when dining on campus. You can choose from a variety of places, big and small, to eat.

    Dorm Life

I love my dorm life at Bowling Green. The living quarters are exceptional and set up in a way that allows like minded students to work and room together. This makes study time easier and safer; it is not necessary to travel out during late hours to study. The dorms offer quiet areas for study, washer and dryers, and entertainment.

    Academic Rigor

Bowling Green definitely requires rigor and dedication. I had Chemistry and a Chemistry Lab this quarter which required my full dedication to earn an outstanding grade. I definitely was challenged.

    Tips for prospective students

    1. Visit the campus. You will be amazed. 2. Apply for scholarships early. 3. Explore all of the learning communities in making your decision to attend.

    In three sentences

Bowling Green State University is a great place to grow and learn. You are able to mature as a student in safe location allowing you to grow. I also find that Bowling Green has great professors willing to help you learn.

    Campus Safety

The campus is a very safe place. And if you are ever worried about walking by yourself somewhere, there is a phone number you can call and two campus police will walk with you to wherever you are going. There are also big blue emergency poles that you can push a button and immediately get in touch with an on campus policeman.

Great for these types of students

Students who really want to get a great education while still having every possibility to have fun and let loose during down time. There are so many avenues to take to help you succeed and also to make your time here fun, it's just such a great environment.

Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus

I've only been a student for half a year so far, but I have picked up on a couple of on-campus norms. Every year there's a game played where some students choose to be zombies and others are not. They wear bandanas to identify themselves and have missions to carry out. However, they carry around nerf guns to shoot each other! I didn't get to play this year but I saw it in action and it looks like a blast! If you hang around the Union in any capacity, you will eventually hear about or see Bible Bob. I'll just let that one simmer and you can find out what that's about if you come here.

    Bang for the buck

Bowling Green offers more than I ever thought it would. There's an on campus medical center if you ever aren't feeling well. The library offers so many awesome things as well. If you just need to talk to someone, there are counselors and psychologists available for you to talk to for free! There are video and sound recording devices you can rent, bikes you can use, TV's everywhere, along with plugs for laptops and phones. The Rec center is currently being amazingly updated and I am so monumentally excited for when that is done later in 2014. BG has so much to offer, it really is worth the money you put in.

    What to do for fun

There are so many clubs and groups to join its not even funny. Like Harry Potter? Try out for the Quidditch Team. Into Anime and Manga? Join the Anime Club. Remember those commercials that used to say There's an app for that? Well, at BG, if there's something you like to do, there's pretty much a group for that. And if there isn't don't be shy about starting your own! Not to mention the sports, sorority and fraternity life, events held on campus and nearby. You seriously can only be bored if you never leave your dorm!

    Food and Dining

There are a lot of places to eat on campus and even within very close walking distance from campus. On the campus itself, however, there are quite a few options to accommodate people of all different eating styles. Some places offer vegetarian meals, gluten free options, sushi, quick foods and snacks to eat on the go, healthy options, smoothies, burgers and fries, salads and of course, pizza! I love to eat at The Oaks. They always have healthier options and new, interesting things to try.

    Dorm Life

Now I don't live in a dorm myself, so take what I say with a grain of salt. I've been in several of the different dorm buildings and some of the rooms are pretty big, nice, updated and modern-feeling. Even the dorms with slightly smaller rooms have their perks; the one I visited was a small, but the two roomies shared their own bathroom rather than sharing one with their whole floor. Some downsides I have heard are that some of the dorms don't have air conditioning, but I think that they will be renovating those dorms soon anyway.

    Academic Rigor

Bowling Green is a pretty serious school, academically. In high school, I never studied and hardly tried and I got A's and B's. Here at BG, I slacked off just a bit and noticed my grades slipping. The classes, homework, projects and exams will keep you on your toes. But there are so many ways for you to find help that there's absolutely no reason you can't succeed. If you just can't figure something out yourself, there's the Learning Commons which has awesome tutors to help you every step of the way.

    Tips for prospective students

Depending on where you're from, the BG campus might seem huge, but its not as bad as it seems. I have walked from one side of the campus to the other within 15 minutes and I wasn't walking especially quickly. I know you'll hear this from everyone and their mother, but get involved. And if you aren't the type of person to go out and be a part of 20 clubs, just find one that you know you'll love being a part of, and give it your all. You'll make friends, have great times, and really enjoy your college experience.

    In three sentences

There is so much to do and see on campus that there is never a dull moment. Although some buildings are slightly out of date, the most commonly used ones are constantly updated and are modern, sharp, clean and brimming with newer technology. There is a lot of school spirit and it is easy to become part of the family of Falcons here on BG's campus, even for commuter students like me!

    Campus Safety

I have never felt more safe anywhere in my life. There are people you can contact who will walk you to your dorm or anywhere at night if you need and there are also blue lights all around campus where you can contact an emergency responder wherever you are on campus. They are very useful.

    Greek Life

I have never been involved with Greek Life but I have been to many events with friends who are part of Greek Life and they are very involved and love it.

    Bang for the buck

Tuition at BGSU is very low, especially compared to other universities. I do not feel, however, that I am getting a worse education because of the cost. I actually have felt like I have received an excellent education and have had the most knowledgeable professors who are passionate about what they are teaching.

    What to do for fun

There are many things to do for fun at BGSU. There are many organizations and clubs you can join. I joined an outdoor activities program where we go on many trips together, it has been a blast. I also joined a few Christian Organizations where you gathered together on campus performing activities and worshipping. I also studied abroad in Argentina. It was the best experience of my life and BGSU made the process very smooth. There are many different events/concerts and sports events. Our football team was the 2013 MAC Champions so they are always fun to watch.

    Food and Dining

There are a variety of food options on campus. There is a Pinkberrys, Steak Escape, Panda Express, Jamba Juice, Marcos Pizza, Starbucks, Dunk n Donuts and quite a few others. There are two new huge dining halls with unique and beautiful architecture. The cafeteria type food is excellent as well. I could never complain about their food and dining, they have always fed me well.

    Dorm Life

I lived in the dorms for two years and although some of them are run down, the experience was awesome. I got along great with my resident advisor and made a ton of friends on my floor. The dorms are walking distance to classes and dining. There are a few new dorms that are beautiful and have a hotel-like feel to them. They are awesome!!!

    Academic Rigor

Depending on your professor, class level, and the amount of work you put into your school work and studying, it should not be very difficult. However, my courses were always challenging. I learned so much from all of my classes.

    Tips for prospective students

Tips I would give for prospective students are to get involved! There are so many organizations/clubs/sports to become involved with, they are life changing and you will meet so many amazing people. I would also suggest to get to know your teachers, they are quirky, interesting, worldly, fun people who want the best for you. I have yet to meet a bad professor at this university.

    In three sentences

BGSU is a diverse university. BGSU has a beautiful campus and a small town atmosphere surrounding it. It is an amazing university.

The food here is decent. I've definitely eaten worse. There are a lot of choices for places to eat and different types of food.

    Dorm Life

The dorms are pretty nice. The only bad part is that some of them are far away from classes. You get a great sense of community in the dorms and most of the time you don't run into any problems.

    Academic Rigor

Classes are only as hard as you make them. As long as you study and keep on task there is no reason you shouldn't get good grades in all your classes. I have yet to come across a class that is too difficult to handle.

    In three sentences

The campus is beautiful and pretty clean, and the area is pretty safe. The classes are pretty easy to get into and most of the professors are quality. As long as you don't mind a little wind this school is great and the people are friendly.
