Categories Comments Great for these types of students Diverse, willing to learn, hardworking students.
Tips for prospective students Don't expect it not to be hard, there are some really tough professors out there. Some classes are more of a comedy show than a class. Use RateMyProfessors.com to help with that.
Bang for the buck You really can't argue about the price at Broward College. It is one of the cheapest schools in Florida and you get more than what you pay for. You get great teachers who are willing to go the distance, meet great people, and have a nice friendly, environment to go to school at.
Am enjoying being here I thoroughly enjoy being a student at Broward College. The campus is kept very clean, it is very open, and it is a versatile learning environment. The student body is a very diverse group of students of all ages, all races, and all religions. I have learned outside of the classroom and in while talking to fellow students.
Am learning a lot I've been attending Broward College (formerly known as Broward Community College) for a year and a half now. I have learned a tremendous amount from teachers and classmates at this school. All the teachers I have had are extremely knowledgeable in their field and are willing to teach you until you learn.

Categories Comments Great for these types of students Enlightened students will reap great gains in knowledge from Broward College. All students are compatible with Broward College, as the wide array of courses offered are detrimental when it comes to deciding a future and major. This college is most beneficial to high school students who have recently graduated and facing financial instability. The classes are relatively cheap, and mass amounts of scholarships and grants are available from the college itself to aid in the process of paying for precious education.
Tips for prospective students Future scholars and prodigies should take the time to absorb the value of education within a higher level institution before committing to enrollment at any public college. With that being said, students need to realize that Broward College is a great stepping stone to achieving higher education, with great benefits, within a major university. No matter what college the student is enrolled in, whether it be community college or public, it is truly up to the student to determine for oneself what their goals in life are, and once realized, nothing will restrain one from achieving their dreams. Don't let your reality determine your future. If you are in a public college instead of a major university due to the high cost of education, always keep in mind that even though education offered at public colleges may not be as good as Harvard or Yale, it is still a great benefit to be receiving any sort of higher education. Patience is a virtue, and if exercised properly, an individual is capable of achieving what the world claims impossible. When there is a will, there is always a way.
Bang for the buck Aside from the few negative aspects of the learning quality offered at Broward College, the courses are beneficial and most advantageous when the enrolling student takes the time to research for themselves which instructors have the best student approval ratings.
Am enjoying being here Broward College may be a 4 year school, but this is not where I am destined to graduate from. I am very grateful for the education that I am currently receiving, but for the price of admission and classes I strongly disagree with the amount of learning resources available. The students need more technology in the classrooms to have visual reference to the subjects in question. Aside from the lack of technology, Broward College is another mediocre public college that accomplishes what it's aimed to do.
Am learning a lot Although Broward College is a great campus for the locals residing in South Florida, I've come to notice that many professors do not posses the required discipline, and lecture skills, to be qualified as a professor. Broward College offers many different classes at different hours of the day, which is convenient for many working students. From my own personal experience, however, I conclude that a minority of professors do not appear in class with their resources prepared, and fail to carry out the ideal lectures aimed to keep the student's interest afloat. I hold mentors with highest respect possible, they are the guiding hand of every young aspiring student destined to achieve prosperity. Having the option to choose from a variety of courses is detrimental, however, it does not invalidate the fact that many professors unknowingly degrade the quality of education by not emphasizing and reviewing their course evaluations to renovate their teaching methods. The professors who truly enjoy their job find pleasure in being the mentor to future scholars. They are the ones who are very knowledgeable, providing good insight into the real world experience by finding relevance between the subject being taught and the student's personal life.

Categories Comments Great for these types of students Its great for students who need a second chance to raise up their G.P.A., a student who isn't sure what university they would want to attend, and/or for students who are undecided about their major. Also this help students that is pursing an AA degree or AS degree to go to the university of their dreams.
Tips for prospective students Ask for the student activities office where the students that work there will help with anything that concerns you. Even if you ask an student that is walking nearby, they will be happy to show you around. Before you know it you will be showing other students where the library or lab is. Always try to join some clubs because its really fun and you will meet people that will end up being your friend for a life time!
Am enjoying being here Small, friendly environment
Am learning a lot And the lab is like an extra help if you need it!

Categories Comments Great for these types of students It's a great school for anyone trying to get their AA degree, whether it's your first time going to college straight out of high school or you are a returning student/adult. It's definitely a great school that will challenge you.
Tips for prospective students I've been attending Broward College (formally known as Broward Community College) for the past year now. I absolutely love the campus and the people who teach as well as attend as students. Everyone is extremely nice and helpful. It makes your first college experience a great one! At first I was terrified and had no idea what to do, where to go, how to get things done, or even when they had to be done! All you have to do is ask and help will come in every shape and form. I was literally confused from the moment I walked into the main building, but after admissions, and tackling your way through financial aid and the bookstore, everything just falls into place. I must say it was nice to start off at a smaller school to get the hang of things before transferring to a university, it's much less intimidating.

Categories Comments Great for these types of students This school is great for all types of students, especially students who don't want to be in class for hours, because every class is about i hour and 15 minutes. It's also good for students who work full time or have other obligations, because they have very good online classes.
Tips for prospective students It's best to register for classes as soon as possible because classes full up very fast. Try and speak with an advisor to help you with your classes, a good one is Maynel Little, she can help with almost anything you need.
Bang for the buck Broward College is a very affordable school, every class is about $250 and it's completing worth it. The teachers are very respectful, somewhat easy, and don't over load you with work. Recently Broward College has become a 4-year college and offers more majors, specify for educational majors.
Am enjoying being here The environment is very laid back and gives you a very tranquil feeling. The people are very friendly and the administrators are always helpful, respectful, and reliable. They have many computers and tutors to help you with any work you need. Broward College has various clubs, sports, and recreational activities for you to enjoy.
Am learning a lot I'm a legal assisting major and the teachers are all experience and so helpful, and I feel I'm going to be very successful. The teachers alwasy give you their emails and phone numbers so you can personally help you with any considers you have.

Categories Comments Great for these types of students (Based on North Campus). Any one who lives locally and doesn't want a crazy commute to their school. Any one who'd rather not deal with ridiculous amounts of traffic (like at a university). Any one who feels they'll learn better in a smaller class size! Any one who'd rather be in a smaller school instead of a huge university. Any one who has a 75% Bright Futures Scholarship...because 100% of your tuition will be covered at BC!!!!
Tips for prospective students Take care of any questions about classes, registration, etc. ASAP!!!!! Advisers get BOOKED once class registration opens, making it almost impossible to figure out what classes to take, or to have them override any problems/issues you may be having! Sign up for classes early! I've had to learn the hard way that you should sign up for your classes as soon as registration opens for you. That way you can get the exact classes and schedule you want. You can get it to where you only go to school two days a week! And that's full time! But the only way to do that is to act quickly! Have a positive outlook on school/your classes. If you go into a class, especially one that's on a subject you're not good at or interested in, with a negative outlook, chances are you probably won't get much out of it! Try to desire to learn and understand what's being taught; speaking from personal experience it can really change how you do in a certain subject! Take care of financial aid and other registration issues as early on as you can. You don't want to have to pay out of pocket for classes...especially if you don't have the money to pay for them! And if your financial aid isn't turned in early enough and you don't pay, all your classes will be dropped! Then you'll get stuck with whatever is available! Say bye bye to your perfect schedule! So unless you have the money to pay upfront, it's crucial that you take care of your financial aid first thing! For anyone who has taken AP courses in high school, keep the copies of your score sheets in a safe place! Again, I've had to learn the hard way...the school has managed to lose my scores I submitted to them, and now when they're asking me to bring in the copies, I'm not so sure where they are! Basically just have copies of anything and everything important, and KNOW where they are! That way if there are any issues you'll have them on hand! Online classes are a great option! Don't be afraid to try them!
Bang for the buck (Review based on North Campus). Like I said above, I feel like I'm learning so much more, yet I'm having to pay LESS than what I would at a regular university!!! The professors can get one-on-one with you and really help you with problems you may be having; in addition there is free tutoring offered in the library. There are many ways to get help with anything you're struggling with, so you can be sure you're getting your money's worth when it comes to your education!
Am enjoying being here (Review based on North Campus). Like mentioned above, because of the classes being so well sized (not too many students), it really gives you a great opportunity to get to know your classmates and make friends, especially for those (like me) who aren't the most outgoing individuals. I actually see students I know around campus and it just makes the college experience so much more pleasant when you don't feel like you're wandering around alone! There's also many events going on, pretty regularly, so if you're someone who likes to be involved in the student life it's perfect! At LEAST once every 2 weeks there's music playing and tables set up with something going on, whether it's Welcome Back week, Haiti Relief Awareness, or anything in between! The one complaint I do have about BC is the process of meeting with an advisor...if you don't act quickly you pretty much get stuck when trying to figure out what classes to take, because they appointments fill up so quickly! This can be quite frustrating...
Am learning a lot (Review based on North Campus). I transferred from FAU to Broward College and feel like I am learning a lot more here. I have had some really amazing professors who REALLY know what they're talking about. One of the biggest and best differences is that the class sizes are significantly smaller. At FAU, some of my lecture classes had up to 300 students in them, while at BC the max number of students in a class I've had was probably 25! The professor knows the students by name, and it's much easier to get to know your fellow classmates!

Categories Comments Great for these types of students Broward college is great for every type of student.
Tips for prospective students 1. Always be on time, Professors hate it when they start their class and you, just walk in late. 2. If your not going to be attending class, or you will be turning in assignment late email your professor ahead of time. 3. Take notes, Take notes, take note.
Bang for the buck Everything is affordable.
Am enjoying being here I love everything about the school because: people are so friendly, I have access to a computer, a laptop, a printer, scanner, and a copy machine. The book store; The food is awesome!
Am learning a lot Yes! I am learning a lot at Broward College. I just came out of high school, so I still have a young state of mind; I was not use to having all the responsibility. I was use to me putting 50% in and my teacher putting in 50%. But at Broward College it helped me grow up; I now know that I am responsibly for what I do.

Categories Comments Great for these types of students if your the type of person that likes art, wants to become a teacher, wants to be apart of something magnificent then BROWARD COLLEGE is for YOU.
Tips for prospective students for future students i advise u take the classes you need to get your degree. join as many clubs as you can, make good connected friends, and get as many opportunities you can to learn and succeed. and most of all have FUN!!!!
Bang for the buck i thought i was going to have to get a job to pay for my classes and books. but financial aid was very helpful in helping me succeed this difficult task. it doesnt cost much to come to broward college.
Am enjoying being here i really enjoy going here because i can make life long friendships in joining the different clubs they have to offer. like student government, ptk, roots, and the blue hawks. hopefully next year i will join the blue hawks so i can give the tours around campus, get crowds and the school pumped up at orientation and functions.
Am learning a lot broward college has qualified professors that help you learn a lot, experience good information you can take with you in the workforce. they even get in a laugh or two.

Categories Comments Great for these types of students Students that are able to push themselves a bit more than others and want to achieve great grades to move onto a better University.
Tips for prospective students I would definitely put in the extra time to check your professors ratings and see what the students in the past have thought about the professor. I regret my first semester completely for not doing this.
Bang for the buck For the money that it cost to attend this College I believe it is well worth it and everyone that is local should definitely keep it in mind if you cannot afford to go away for schooling.
Am enjoying being here While the schooling is above average and you learn can learn a lot by picking the right professors, the environment at Broward College seems to be that of a high school. The kids seem to be more interested in playing spades and hanging out than discussing class material and studying for the tests that they have to take.
Am learning a lot For a local college that just recently become renowned as a 4 year college they are definitely doing better than any of the other local schools. If you put in the time to research which professors are the best and receive the best ratings among the student body you can receive a pretty good education. Although I have had a few teachers that lacked the proper knowledge to be teaching the class and one had to put in the extra effort to teach themselves some things at home.

Categories Comments Great for these types of students Great for fresh out of college, students who need to work full-time, students who want to return after years of not attending, parents, single-parents. Really it's great for everyone.
Tips for prospective students Tip: Know yourself. Broward College has the most flexible schedule in the world, in my opinion. They have the same classes at all different times (morning, afternoon or evening), 5 days a week, online or on campus. It just can't get any better. But what I mean about know yourself is: Don't not pick a 8 am class knowing that you would never be able to be up in time to make it. Use the flexible scheduling to work around you work time. If you must work full-time you can still find something that works with you and still be going to school full time. Visit advisors as much as possible! They get you through things. That is what they are there for... to ADVISE.
Bang for the buck Definitely bang for you buck. All that you would learn in a university paying a whole bunch of dollars you learn in a nice cozy college and not burn a whole in your pocket.
Did enjoy being here I did enjoy attending. Made some friends and learned alot.
Did learn a lot People seem to be discouraged about going to a Community College, although it is now Broward College, its still seen as a school where you can shoot the breeze and pass. It's not. Class sizes are smaller for a better learning experiences. Professors learn your name individually which I'm sure in a bigger institution professors only know the good students. In my time hear I did learn alot. Fresh out of high school just starting up, you learn about time management and of course the course criteria etc.

Categories Comments Great for these types of students If you're looking to get your feet wet and higher education, highly consider this to Miami Dade College. Though I live in Miami, I learn in Broward. Also, let that slogan at Broward be your mantra: Finish what you start!
Tips for prospective students Consider the cost of going to a 4 year university when looking into this school. Though they offer 4 year degrees, do they offer job support and placement in the fields they mention will earn over 100k?
Bang for the buck I've heard from many students that there's a better deal, however I've learned that you get what you pay for. Sometimes, you get a raw deal, but I've always found my money well spent at the classes offered.
Am enjoying being here I typically enjoy my time on the campus. Different campuses carter to their area and at times, South Campus in particular can feel like high school part 2, but if you're in and out with classes, this isn't a problem.
Am learning a lot I think for the most part education from Broward College is standard. There are a few gems as far as professors go, but for the most part, I don't feel that Broward offers a superior or even comparable learning that you could get from a state university.

Categories Comments Tips for prospective students STUDY HARD AND YOU CAN ATTAIN ANY GOAL YOU SET YOUR MIND TOWARDS, I WAS ACCEPTED TO 15 PHARMACY SCHOOLS FOR THEIR PHARM D PROGRAM AFTER FINISHING AT BROWARD.
Bang for the buck Prices are lower than private schools, smaller class size, and more teacher, student relations.
Am enjoying being here The school has great opportunites for individuals trying to accel in there life and career goals.
Am learning a lot Broward is highly withdrawn from individuals mind, due to the fact of it being a community college. They have changed their status to a college as of this past year, offering batchelors in many programs. Education to me isnt measured by the name, but by the knowledge a student is filled with. I personally think i wouldnt have received a better education elsewhere.

Categories Comments Campus Safety Haven't been robbed or harassed so I give it an A okay :). There is also security constanly driving around the parking lot.
Greek Life Not that I am aware of.
Clubs and Activities Broward College offers a handful of Clubs and activites. Suited for just about anybody.
Great for these types of students This school is great for all types of students.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus The only tradition I am aware of is the lounge having movie nights with free popcorn. A place for you to relax and meet with friends.
Bang for the buck don't even know what that is.
What to do for fun get involved with clubs and activities. They always are up to doing creative stuff.
Food and Dining Food is good, no complaints. vending machines are also available if you need something quick and on the go.
Dorm Life I do not live in a dorm.
Academic Rigor Professors are very helpful only if you ask. The fact that there is less students per class verses a university gives you the student an advantage to seek help. Also professors are usually available 30 minutes prior and after class.
Tips for prospective students Make sure you do not procrastinate with anything. For example, do things before the deadline, register for classes the day registration opens, check financial aid status. Stay connected with students and professor. Don't be afraid to ask questions or for guidance.
In three sentences Broward College is a great college. Small classrooms which is better then sitting in a room with 400 students. LRC (learning resource center) is also very helpful and very glad BC provides resources for students benefits. Parking is also not that bad compare to bigger University.

Categories Comments What to do for fun There are very good basketball and football courts.
Food and Dining there are only fried food , and soups out of packages available. Also there are sandwiches and wraps.
Academic Rigor A lot of our teachers prepare us for the harder studies in upper level courses.
Tips for prospective students I would suggest first to go to ratemyprofessor.com and find out what type of a teacher you are about to take classes with, as different teachers require different level of effort from a student. The most important thing for us, students, is to be passionate about studies. We have to know that the most important things in life, are those that have the biggest value in the world. These are the things that we do after we graduate (our service that we provide with our knowledge and work).
In three sentences This school has a lot of great teachers that have passion and interest to teach their students. All of the campuses here have tutors available from math, English, chemistry and so on... But since, I haven't been studying in other colleges, I am not able to compare to other schools.

Categories Comments Great for these types of students We have many programs, and extra curricular activities that you may attend and we have our very own honors society club with offers tons of scholar ship programs.
Tips for prospective students Although Broward College just expanded there degree level and took the community college thing away. This school is just like your applying for FIU or UM, take college serious because the professor's here wont treat you like the high school teachers!
Bang for the buck Attending Broward college would save you more money than you'll expect to spend. Broward College charges about 77 dollars per credit course. I'm a full time student taking 5 classes, i spend and overall of 2300 dollars and that includes the price for new books!
Am enjoying being here I enjoy being apart of Broward College but for any student who wants to attend I encourage you to apply to Central Campus. Central Campus is the best campus among the other 7 campus Broward College has. Central Campus is amazing it feels just like a walk through FAU courtyard.
Am learning a lot Being an student at Broward College as expanded my knowledge of how college at and university will be. Broward College is the same as any other university. here and BC we have great professors who are encouraging, helpful and great in the classes room. the professor's here pass on their learning abilities to help the students at BC become better than they are and exceed higher learning.

Categories Comments Great for these types of students If your going just for your first to years then transferring or if you are applying for a four year program, this is a great school.
Tips for prospective students Ask classmates for recomendations about professors and check rate my professor, Although I have found that ratemyprofessor.com isn't always the most accurate. Get involved in the clubs. I recommend PTK-Omega Phi Chapter.
Bang for the buck This is the best bang for your buck and you are getting the same type of eduation you would from another college/university.
Am enjoying being here I like BC and would probably have stayed all 4 years but unfortunately right now they do not offer a bachelors for my degree. Classes can be intense but the campus grounds are relaxing. Lots of stuff to do.
Am learning a lot There are a lot of great professors at Broward that really do care about their students, such as Susan Grody, Paul Beaulieu, Deoraj Bharath,Prof. Coakley.A lot of prof here really do take their time to make sure you understand the material and are really there to help you.

Categories Comments Great for these types of students People who like small classes and intimate settings with professors. Most of them really do care and will do what they can to help you graduate. BC's slogan is Finish What You Start so they really give you every opportunity too succeed. If you're not sure if you can handle regular college life right out of high school, try it at Broward because it's like a great middle ground between high school and University.
Tips for prospective students Definitely check Rate My Professor before signing up for any classes and ask around to see how others liked or didn't like them. I would also recommend signing up for classes as early as possible so you don't get stuck with that schedule that everyone hates. (Again, another good reason to be in the Honors Institute is that you get to sign up for classes a week before everyone else.) Also, make sure you know what you want to do. and if you don't, take Gen ed classes. take the ones that you know suit the broadest range of the carrier fields you are looking at.
Bang for the buck My first two semesters, I did't pay anything for my classes because I had Bright Futures and the Honors scholarship (another good reason to be in Helix but you don't need to be to be in the Honors Institute.) In my second semester, I tanked a class and brought my GPA to a 3.0 and lost the honors, but my Bright Futures did a lot. If you want Gen Ed for cheep but with good people, look them up.
Am enjoying being here Like I said I'm having a great time. I'm in the Honors Learning Community Helix, which really isn't worth doing unless you're planning on transferring to a major school and want a transfer scholarship. However, It started out with 20 students and we all became really close, really quickly because we had to take 2 classes a semester with these people for 3 semesters. the class has slowly dwindled down to 9 people but we're all really close and help each other out. there are ways to get to know people and fun activities all the time. Don't listen to the Debbie Downers on Broward. They just wanted to do something more and couldn't.
Am learning a lot So far I've loved all of my Professors (except one, but we worked that out) and I've learned a lot. It depends on what class you're taking, but for the most part, I've learned stuff that I will actually use and the Teachers make the classes entertaining.

Categories Comments Great for these types of students Great for parents, ESOL, ESE, EAP , older students, student's returning after years of absence from college. Anyone who has to take care of dependants, bills, house, where mommy and daddy has the money to take care of everything for you. Student whose scholarships is not enough to pay for everything.
Tips for prospective students Students take the time to study even if it is five pages a day or a page of your ten-paged paper a day. Do not overwhelmed one's self and stay on top of your financial aid, and classes.
Bang for the buck Broward College charges a third of what a university will charge per credit. Depending on your professor, just like any other university, there are the hacks and the greats. I have been fortunate to spend my $101.90 per credit on the greats.
Am enjoying being here I enjoy it, yes we do not have all the Greek's there but there are activities. Not only can I enjoy them between two part time jobs, but so can my child.
Am learning a lot Some may view Broward College as the easy way out of school. Many do not take Broward College as a serious college. Well, to those of you who think that, I say you are entitled to your opinion; however, look at it from my point of view. Broward College is a traditional school. It gives everyone an opportunity. If one is an EAP student, a single parent, low income, if one has other priorities besides school Broward College allows one to advance in their studies and careers remembering that school cannot always be a first priority but it is one. I have had professors challenge me to my max. I still can remember some of the information that I learned my first year. I owe my life and education to Broward College.

What to do for fun in this school there is a lot of sports, and outdoor activities to be enroll at.

Dorm Life no dorms availables.
Academic Rigor as long as you do what you are suppose to do, you will not have a problem.
Tips for prospective students do your best in every class and the teachers will help you.

Categories Comments Campus Safety Campus safety gets 5 stars because they are always doing their jobs and taking care of the littlest problems to the major ones. They are always there for the students and faculty assisting as much as they can. I feel safe with knowing that they are there for me.
Greek Life Unfortunately there isn't any Greek life going on with Broward. Due to the fact that it was a community college first.
Great for these types of students Students who work well with small groups and students who may not be able to afford big universities classes.
Bang for the buck Compared to state universities Broward College is a lot cheaper.
What to do for fun The school has events at the end of every month. Each event is different. Usually they are based on what is being celebrated that month. For example in November we had a fall event that had rides and games all over the campus like a miniature carnival.
Food and Dining The food here is amazing. The fries are to die for. And so are the chicken tenders. They have a sushi section and there is a section where you can build your own sandwich just like subway. And much more!
Dorm Life Since Broward College was originally a community college there aren'Â?t any dorms for students who are studying from other locations. Only the athletic teams of the schools have dorms. They have dorms because they are always training twenty four seven days of the week to become better and better athletes.
Academic Rigor I say this because Broward is very strict but at the same time lenient. They will never turn their backs on any students and they will work with you as an individual and make sure that you make it to whatever you want to be. On the other hand a lot of things that the school may afford are usually hidden. For example I needed money for summer classes and I was looking on the schools website and couldn¢t find anything reason being, the school website wasn¢t updated. But I successfully got my scholarship buy physically going into my deans¢ office and asking for help. Now that may not seem like a problem but for some students who use most of their lives through the web may be missing out.
Tips for prospective students If your just graduating from high school and looking for a place to go. Broward College is the best start. Instead of going straight into a university where the classrooms are crazy packed and seeing your instructor is almost impossible at Broward you will experience the complete opposite. You have one on one time with other students and your professors. You¢re able to raise your hand and ask questions not just sit in an arena style classroom and hope for the professor to repeat whatever he or she just said. This also pushes their students to finish what they started. To add, Broward is also a fun place to be. Every month there is some silly event going on. And for the serious students we have national speakers there all the time. We also have debates on politics, religion, race and others whatever will keep our minds growing and expanding. Broward has it.
In three sentences Broward is a college of honesty, dedication, love and being there for their students. It may be small but it has a big heart. This is where every student should start.

Categories Comments Clubs and Activities I have not joined many clubs but they do have them around as well as sports for the athletes. The college is now starting to incorporate many athletic scholarships as well that can really be a motivation to students.
Bang for the buck For the money it is very good and you will be satisfied. For the money you are paying, you actually get a little more than you deserve which is a plus. As for books and other supplies, it is still expensive as it would be in another college or university.
What to do for fun The college offers many clubs to join and meet new people. They also have a student center where you can play pool, table tennis, and watch tv while you wait for your next class or just have nothing else to do. I always see people hanging around here and having a good time.
Food and Dining I have not really eaten at the school much because of the limited amounts of food they have and high prices. Many people are around the area however and it is a good place to meet new people. If you are really hungry and need some food they have vending machines and also a cafeteria to meet your needs.
Dorm Life No dorms in the college campuses. I played soccer however and received housing money but only to live near campus. Not exactly in a dorm.
Academic Rigor Some of the classes do not teach you much but just give you assignments. If you have a good professor , you should learn a lot and also find it very manageable to work and go to school.
Tips for prospective students Before you choose classes, you should go on rateyourprofessor, com and look at who you choose beforehand. Make sure you get the desired books and any other things your teachers assign to you. Try to show up to all the classes and don't fall behind.
In three sentences It has limited degrees to choose from. Different campuses to attend around the Broward area. I feel some of the teachers aren't top quality and should still be teaching in high school. You have to really search for the good teachers, the ones who actually care. Small classes are good but you don't feel as much as the college experience.

Categories Comments Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus The library on the 3rd floor is the place to be if you don't want to be around a lot of students.
Tips for prospective students Once, you start school do not stop no matter how hard it gets or what may come your way, continue to the end. It will pay off!
In three sentences Broward College has been Amazing to me. When ever I need help with my schedules or just getting any advice I can always depend on the advisors to help me. Thanks a lot B.C.!

Categories Comments Campus Safety There is a lot of campus safety around campus and emergency call boxes just in case your in need of help.
Greek Life Not too much on Greek life I've seen personally.
Clubs and Activities They have a lot of different clubs in the student life center and activities going on every month on campus.
Great for these types of students For international students we have a lot of in fluent students and in the cafeteria a big variety of foods and snacks. We also have a lot of different clubs depending on your interests.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus Nothing really unusual about locations/traditions.
Bang for the buck Blood drives for free movie/gas. and the classes/programs are affordable compared to other colleges/universities in the area.
What to do for fun At Broward College for fun they have free movie premieres at North campus , theathre plays, and live bands perform here, they also have poetry/open mic nights at different locations.
Food and Dining It's average
Dorm Life No dorm for this college
Academic Rigor The academic programs are great.
Tips for prospective students 1 .Attendance is a must at Broward College, plus many teachers give you a grade on attendance 2. Ratemyprofessor.com is a great website to help you have an idea on what other students opinions are on their professors
In three sentences If I had a chance to give Broward College a rating I would honestly give it a 8/10. The reason why I not 10/10 is because on the North Campus I feel it badly needs to be updated as far as looks compared to Central and south campus. a lot of the teachers are helpful. You will learn a lot.

Categories Comments Campus Safety There is plenty of security roaming around the campus at all times enabling one to feel safe and secure wherever they may be. There are various hot line numbers that can be called in case of emergencies and messages are sent to one's cell phone and e-mail when an incident occurs. It allows one to not have to worry at all in case of a situation and go about their daily schedule with little worries.
Clubs and Activities There are a wide variety of clubs to choose from such as Math club, Science club, and even Salsa club. These activities and clubs allow for opportunities in which the students can feel more comfortable on campus and meet new people. There is always a new event that goes on every week inviting everyone to attend as a way of relaxing and enjoying the college experience.
What to do for fun For fun, one can go to the library and hang out in the cafe with friends and teachers, simply talking about the school day or any plans later on. There sometimes activities that go on during lunch time and allow students to dance and sing as a way of promoting certain events or clubs. There is always something that can be done during the day that causes an ordinary day to turn interesting all of a sudden because the campus is always full of life.
Food and Dining The food from both cafe's on campus is widely varied and quite nutritious. There are an abundance of options for one to choose from and the prices are quite reasonable; there are plenty of dining areas ll around the campus with plenty of shade for one to eat and socialize at. There are also a plethora amount of restaurants outside of school that one can go to at any time of the day.
Dorm Life I am currently not residing in a dorm.
Academic Rigor This college makes clear the requirements necessary to be successful in each class. Depending on both the class, the teacher, and the student, the way the academic rigor is viewed varies greatly. Basically, it is up to the individual to make he most of their semester and gain as much knowledge as possible.
Tips for prospective students Some tips would be to make sure to purchase one's books as soon as possible before they run out to maximize the learning experience in the class. Certain teacher require certain books and it will be like a tool of reference to further understand the topics in the class. Also, to arrive early to not only reserve a parking spot but to arrive to one's class on time and capture the entire lesson of the day.
In three sentences I would say that Broward College is a great campus that provides one on one learning between the student and teacher. The instructors make sure to inform their students about the layout of the semester and make sure that they are fully aware of what is expected of them. It is a learning environment that properly founds one's first years of being in college.

Categories Comments Campus Safety The campus safety is very good, because they have a system which text messages every student at the school if something goes wrong, called the 'BC Alert' system. There are also 'call boxes' for emergencies all around the school, as well as local patrolling security during all hours.
Greek Life None, as far as I know of.
Clubs and Activities I've seen a great amount of unique types of clubs and activities in the school, one of my favorite being the 'Brain Buster' club which partakes in active trivia for scholarship money. It's a lot of fun.
Great for these types of students Hard working students who are not afraid of a very open campus with lots of people to talk to and meet. Social people will also love this campus. It's also a great place to try many different types of things, so it's very hard for me to think of types of students whom it will NOT be good for.
Bang for the buck Because of the large selection of classes and high quality of specialized classes, this is really an incredible financial option for the AA degree seeker. Broward College now offers some BA degrees as well, which they even have special financing for certain majors, as there is a high demand for certain types of work in South Florida, and you may way to look into if your looking for some spare cash.
What to do for fun They often have community events at the school, where they have DJs, performers, and free food available very often in the heart of the school grounds. There are also a lot of free musical and theater events for students, as well as visits from politicians like Michelle Obama, which happened just two days ago.
Food and Dining A very decent cafeteria, they have a very healthy/delicious meat and vegetable wrap center. At the hot food area, the pizza is pretty gross , however I like the Jamaican Beef patties. I've seen ads that they are developing a bunch of local healthy food chains into the school within a year, so when that comes up I think it will deserve 4 stars.
Dorm Life There really aren't dorms in this community college, I do not know many that there are, but there are apartments being developed on the same street as the campus for those who wish to live right on the school.
Academic Rigor Many classes are very difficult, which is truly what you want in a community college, as you will actually learn about the subject you are studying. Be prepared to work, and the harder you work the more benefits you reap.
Tips for prospective students Research your professors beforehand, because there are fantastic ones and terrible ones. The education is in the professor, not the institution. Always be striving to discover your passion if you haven't already, it's the one thing you truly need to know before graduating.
In three sentences A big school with lots of opportunities, and lots of friends to make. There are great professors, and some mediocre, so do your research and homework before signing up for everything. Take the time and go to your advisers and financial aid offices, to make sure you're making the most of your time and money at Broward College.

Categories Comments What to do for fun There are many things to do around campus. But, on campus itself, maybe volleyball games, or baseball games. They get to be a lot of fun.
Food and Dining The cafe might be small but offers every kind of food you might crave
Dorm Life There are no dorms. But as a former athlete, living with my teammates was THE BEST!
Academic Rigor Depending on what classes and professors you take the academic rigor increases.
Tips for prospective students Even though Broward College doesn't have dorms or a full college experience; it is a very good place to spend the first two years of school.
In three sentences As a former student athlete at BC, i believe that BC has a high quality of education. The professors there are knowledgeable and very helpful. Many professors go out of their way to help out students and make sure they understand the material.

Categories Comments Campus Safety I have attended night and day classes and haven't had any issues with campus safety so far.
Clubs and Activities A lot is going on depending on which campus you attend, from movie nights to cook outs and community clean ups.
What to do for fun I go kayaking with my family and visit every zoo and family oriented recreation possible. I also like to draw, sew, arts and crafts, and dance.
Food and Dining Food is good, quick and easy. Not to pricey either with a well enough selection.
Dorm Life I do not live on campus so I can't comment.
Tips for prospective students Choosing the right teacher will take you the farthest in your education. Don't pay too much attention to the negative comments some people may say about a professor or class. Study and take time to learn your material before class to get the most out of it.
In three sentences Great teachers who really want you to succeed. I had a Micro Lab teacher who would spend his Saturdays at school teaching Lecture because he knew how to lay out the material for anyone to understand. Only con is the smoking areas should be further away from class rooms.

Categories Comments Campus Safety Structured and order maintained security on campus that is friendly and willing to help all students in need. Campus safety personnel roam entire campus to be certain that everything is under control. Safety phones located around campus incase of emergency.
Greek Life Phi Theta Kappa - Honors Institute.
Clubs and Activities Many physical activities such as intramural sports (basketball, soccer, martial arts, etc). A diverse gymnasium for all types of athletes. A student life center containing air hockey tables, video games, lounges, vending machines and an opportunity to socialize with fellow BC students.
Great for these types of students Looking for diversity. Students who are looking to transfer after their sophomore year to a university. Students who are looking for a quality educational institution with various locations across Broward county.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus Museum in the library.
Bang for the buck Quality education for a fraction of the price. Quality teacher to student relationships for a fraction of the price. If in doubt, go to an on-campus available tutor, for free!
What to do for fun Students can enjoy some physical activity with the gymnasium offering a variety of machines and weights. Variety of clubs and organizations that offer great extracurricular activities. Buehler planeterium, a place where students can view the beauty of astrology through telescopes and other mechanisms at given times.
Food and Dining A healthy lifestyle is well introduced to the Broward college campus with gourmet food, natural drinks, fruits and vegetables. Convenient and simple to dine in between classes with many available tables and benches to relax. Food is always available whether in the library or in between buildings.
Dorm Life No dorm life at Broward College but I suppose sleeping in your vehicle before and after class can count.
Academic Rigor Professors care but are not lenient on poor effort and laziness. Nothing is difficult if sufficient amount of effort and critical thinking is put in. To study is a job, a routine and a lifestyle one must accept to truly succeed and understand the material required to be able to apply to real situations.
Tips for prospective students Take advantage of all opportunity that Broward College has to offer. Stay attentive and keep up with the studies to ensure a healthy college life. Treat each assignment, quiz and test seriously to ensure that the knowledge required, is acquired and never forgotten.
In three sentences A simple beginning to a successful future. A friendly environment with helpful administrators and professors who care. A clean and welcoming campus with lots of opportunity to build socially and intellectually.

Categories Comments Great for these types of students Computer science, nursing, biology, paramedic.
Bang for the buck These classes are exactly what you would get at a university for a third of the price, but much smaller and more personal.
What to do for fun There is almost always something going on near building 19
Food and Dining Food is very overpriced and has a fast-food quality.
Dorm Life They are just building dorms now so I cant leave a reliable statement.
Academic Rigor Teachers are very willing to help you. As expected, the higher up the classes, the harder the class. Just know there is the tutoring lab to help you.
Tips for prospective students There is a very good tutoring lab located at the very back of the library. Most are students just like you and are very helpful with explaining hard problems.
In three sentences The school leaves a very home-like impression on you. The students and teachers are very helpful and the campus is very well maintained. My only complaint are the frontdesk employees for thier lack of knowledge about thier own workplace.

What to do for fun At Broward there are a lot of different clubs to join here like Student government, Spanish club, Asian club, etc. Also there is this one activity where at my school they do bungee jumping and rock climbing which is pretty fun.
Food and Dining The cafeteria out here is so good. The menu varies from Subs, to hot wings, chicken, pizza, and so much more.

Categories Comments Bang for the buck i think the prices are OK for what your getting out of it. i went to Miami Dade and it was pretty much the same thing. and its cheaper than FIU or Barry University so there's no excuse for anyone not to attend college.
What to do for fun i never really stayed at school for activities i always left right after class because i had to work but sometimes they have activities and music students can participate in. one time on one of the campuses they had a video game truck and student would go play video games after class. i played myself.
Food and Dining i hardly ate on campus but the times i did go i thought they could do better.
Dorm Life i never stayed in the dorm.
Tips for prospective students A tip i would give prospective students would be to never give up even is u think you cant finish school, its always possible. It took me 5 years to get my A.A but i never gave up. also something i never did was skip class or make excuses not to go. i never missed a class. finish what you start.

Food and Dining never ate on campus, but the places off campus nearby central campus are pretty good.
Dorm Life i don't live in a dorm, i live at home.
Academic Rigor depending on the professor, the academics can be anywhere from incredibly easy to impossibly hard.
Tips for prospective students if you live near central campus in davie, i definitely recommend you go to it. try to also have your books before classes start, because once they start you may find yourself struggling to keep up. as for the classes themselves, be careful what choose because you may end up miserable in a class you really don't like.
In three sentences depending on the campus location you go to, it's a really good school for those who don't feel like leaving home. the programs are also good and some of the bachelors degrees offered are reasonable as well. definitely my favorite campus would be central, it has more of a college feel to it.

Categories Comments Campus Safety the campus feels safe due to the high visibility of security officers and campus safety officers patrolling on campus on a daily basis. there is also a hotline which students can call for immediate help. these measures help ensure that your safety isn't threatened.
Clubs and Activities there are a wide variety of clubs ranging from the pre-dental club to the caribbean student association. there is a club for everyone and most regularly hold events for the whole student body to enjoy. students are always encouraged to become members by each club.
Bang for the buck broward college provides a quality education comparable to more distinguished universities at a substantially lower price. students also receive free benefits such as discounted tickets for theatrical performances, computer discounts, dental discounts and free access to the college's fitness center. these benefits help make college a more enriching experience.
What to do for fun if you like sports you can go to gym for weekly open play intramural sports such as soccer and basketball. there are also competitive leagues for more seasoned athletes as well as various social events that happen during the month on campus. you can take a break after class by heading over to the activity center to play video games, table tennis, pool, make new friends or just relax
Food and Dining the southern breezes cafeteria will tantalize your taste buds with their wide variety of freshly prepared meals. students can choose between subway style sandwiches, signature dishes from other countries, patties, desserts, a wide array of fruits and even make their own salads. the options are appealing as well as healthy.
Dorm Life unfortunately, since this is a community college there aren't any dorms which some people consider to be a vital part of the college experience. however on the plus side, the college is conveniently located to most students' homes and is only a bus ride away. this means that students can still indulge in delicious home-cooked meals as they enjoy the best of both worlds, that is the comforts of home and a quality education.
Academic Rigor by allocating enough time and focus, there should be no classes that are considered rigorous. however calculus always seems challenging and finals week comes faster than you think. if you start studying early before exams and avoid last minute cramming, you should pass with no problem.
Tips for prospective students it is important to meet with an adviser early in the first semester so that you can create an educational plan and know which classes should be taken in the following semesters. be involved in as much activities and clubs as you can but remember that academics are your main focus in college and not your social life. make full use of the college's resources such as the library and the learning resource center for tutoring.
In three sentences the campus is clean and well maintained which provides a serene atmosphere for studying . the professors are knowledgeable, engaging and they make themselves approachable during office hours. there are many clubs and organizations that one can join as well as participate in intramural sports.

Great for these types of students The kind that enjoy frequent, obnoxious music fests, I imagine. However, I do not, and i have fared fine (for the most part). Students who enjoy small, intimate classes and a school with a somewhat casual atmosphere may feel at home.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus Do frequent, obnoxious music fests count as unusual?
Bang for the buck For the price, it's worth it. It's definitely what you might call affordable, comparatively. Apply for scholarships such as Bright Futures to cut the cost (even if nowadays the cut isn't too impressive).
What to do for fun Leave.
Food and Dining HahahaHAHAHAHA.
Dorm Life As far as I know, Broward College doesn't have dorms!
Academic Rigor In general, as long as you stay on top of things, the classes are all easy enough to pass, if not ace. For many, acing isn't too difficult either. If a class seems far above your own skill level, check to see if there isn't a lower level class which fulfills the same requirement.
Tips for prospective students As infuriating as it can be, check and double check everything with guidance. Many of the people working there will brush you off to other advisers, or simply not give you very clear answers. You must be persistent if you want an accurate portrait of what is going on.

Categories Comments Food and Dining Central campus (main campus) has a large food court style cafeteria as well as various vending machines throughout each campus.
Dorm Life No dorms exist at Broward College.
Academic Rigor Depending on the course and professor, academic rigor varies even with a set curriculum. Students planning on attending Broward College, or any college for that matter, should never be under the impression that since it is not a state University, that obtaining their degree will be a walk in the park. Instead, they should anticipate having to put time in for studying and completing assignments like any other academic institution.
In three sentences Broward College has become more popular than ever since they made the transition from a community college. With renovations to the main campus and new degree programs coming out on a regular basis, Broward College has begun to attract more prospective students than ever. Since they started offering Bachelor's degrees, many who desire to go back to school are now able to with BC's flexible courses. There are a wide range of options as far as degree majors and available courses. The advisement staff is always there, on multiple campuses, to assist students and direct them down the right educational path.

Categories Comments Campus Safety There is a safety box every couple of yard. (If someone is in trouble and rings it security is suppose to arrive in a certain amount of time.) The most I have seen a campus officer do is regulate how many students can enter the bookstore. However they do jump your car for free!
Clubs and Activities This is the way to get to know people! Regardless of your passion, you WILL find a club to fit your needs. The only problem I have found is that club meetings tend to coincide with classes. This means you either have to be a scheduling master or miss meeting/ class.
Great for these types of students Broward College has so many different types of students and learners. It can be very popular for high school students as a dual enrollment program. These students enjoy the program even though it can be tough. Many students are parents. Due to Browards variety in classes and class times it it easy for full time parents or workers to incorporate classes into their schedule.
Bang for the buck As a commuter college Broward can save you a lot! I suggest you wait a week or two before buying a book. Most teachers want a specific up to date book that can cost an arm and a leg. Waiting will allow you to see if the you REALLY need the book or if the teacher is just strongly suggesting it. If it is crucial try chegg (you can return it within 21 days no questions asked!).
What to do for fun Broward Colleges are open and spacious. This allows students to picnic out in the lawn or play frisbee between classes. For those who love the indoors each campus has a student life center incorporates all of a 21st century students needs, such as: t.v.s, gaming centers, board games, and even ping pong.
Food and Dining There are not many options on campus for food. However the options that they do have are very versatile. There campuses tend to be in densely populated areas, as well. So those who do not like the options given at campus can easily find food close to campus.
Dorm Life Broward College is a commuter college and does not have any dorms.
Academic Rigor Regular classes can be boring and self-taught; however honors classes are thought provoking. These classes go beyond the textbook and most allow the the students and teacher to grow through discussion.
Tips for prospective students Get involved! Broward College can be fun when you know the people around you. BC offers any club and sport you can imagine. For someone to not get involved in the campus and its activities they need to TRY to be antisocial. Broward Central Campus tends to be the most academically focused and friendliest from my point of view.
In three sentences I did not expect to go to Broward College, but now that I'm here I can't imagine starting my college career anywhere else.

Categories Comments Food and Dining Inexpensive and great food. Cafeteria in the main building, as well as a cafe in the library that has coffee, snacks, and study tables/cubicles.
Dorm Life There are no dorms.
Academic Rigor The professors are very true to what they say they'll aim for on the syllabus. Meaning that is a professor is meant to improve writing skills, or math skills, they will. The syllabus' are very clear and understandable. The professors are also understanding of any personal issues that may arise during a semester and can work with you.
Tips for prospective students Broward College offers a lot of help in students seeking financial aid. The attendants in the office are very helpful and welcome students. Their various locations around the town are easy to find; very calm atmosphere's.

Categories Comments Bang for the buck The tuition at Broward is not as expensive as that of many universities. Also, the things they sell are affordable for the student on a budget.

Food and Dining The cafeterias have both great healthy foods and great comfort food for the students and staff.
Dorm Life Broward doesn't have any dorms.
Tips for prospective students Attend class on time and every time. Do the required work necessary. Keep positive and do your best.
In three sentences Broward is a great college with great opportunities. Its not as stressful as many universities can be. Has the best teachers that will take out their time to aid in student success.

Categories Comments Bang for the buck Broward Nursing program is very affordable compared to other local Nursing Programs .
Food and Dining The cafe is casual . Not the best tasting food.
Dorm Life There are not dorms on campus.
Academic Rigor Broward Nursing Program is tough. Very demanding but do able.
Tips for prospective students As a Broward College Nursing Student my advise for future Broward Nursing students is to be dedicated to your studies. There is a lot of information in a short period of time, you must be able to manage your time and life well to be successful in this program. It is possible !

Categories Comments Bang for the buck the school tuition is reasonable state and on a national basis.
What to do for fun school clubs promote a lot of activities.
Food and Dining Dining is reasonable for day students, downside the cafeteria is closed in the evening students.
Dorm Life live of campus
Tips for prospective students I advise prospective students, to communicate with your Professors. They are more than willing to assist your needs, in order to help you pass the class.
In three sentences I am currently attending Broward College as a full time student. I enjoy the Professors very much, because of the methods they use when interacting with the students, they motivate adult students, like me to stay the course. The tuition for an instate student is comparative and reasonably low cost per semester.

Categories Comments Clubs and Activities Broward College offers a lot of help, as well as donations.
Great for these types of students Broward College is great for students who work full time.
What to do for fun Broward offers many sports, guest speakers, and field trips(depending on class).
Food and Dining I've never eaten at the school.
Dorm Life I don't have a dorm.
Academic Rigor I wouldn't say the classes are extremely difficult, but they are engaging.
Tips for prospective students I recommend to students to constantly check in with the advisers, that way you can stay on track. It sounds silly, but another amazing tip is try not to miss any class, you fall behind so much if you do. Also, try to have a support group helping and pushing you.
In three sentences I believe Broward College is offering students a lot more than a couple of years ago. It makes me feel part of a University. And the advisers are extremely helpful.

Categories Comments Campus Safety Campus monitors are stationed quite well during typical school hours. There is a campus safety department located on each campus.
Greek Life Somewhat minimal.
Clubs and Activities Posters and advertisements are all over the place at Broward College for extra curricular activities. You will be able to find many activities of interest.
Great for these types of students Students who are unsure about continuing their education past high school will find Broward College welcoming in many aspects. You may be able to find out what major you're interested in just by taking your pre-requisite classes.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus The campuses are spread apart somewhat evenly. There is a campus life department that will help you find any activity you may be interested.
Bang for the buck Broward College offers affordable options for all students interested in earning their degree there.
What to do for fun Beaches, Downtown, Great Weather, Multi-cultural experience.
Food and Dining Davie campus has a lot of places to eat around if you're not interested in eating in the cafeteria. Lot's of college-friendly places as well.
Academic Rigor When you find the right professor, education will not only challenging, but engaging as well. Broward College offers an extensive amount of classes suited for any student.
Tips for prospective students Be prepared to depend on your own motivation and discipline to take on your studies. The transition from high school to college will be surprising in both cost and professors. Thank goodness Broward College has the resources needed to excel in any program offered.
In three sentences Broward College is an acceptable school to consider for a great transfer program. They have a program called LINK with FAU that makes transferring to the university a snap. The campus is very nice, and has great personnel to get you the answers you need.

Categories Comments Greek Life Phi Theta Kappa is a good society to be in because it's an honor's society that can help you transfer and look really good on your resume.
Clubs and Activities There are some clubs and activities on campus, they have a little area where you can sign up for everything in the student union.
Bang for the buck The classes are definitely cheaper so you're basically getting what you pay for.
What to do for fun They have a tiny gym which I guess you can go there and hangout. There is also this little room where they have a television and stuff to do for fun, it's not very big but it's definitely something to do.
Food and Dining The food is basic cafeteria food, if you want some good stuff that's made in front of you there's a cafe at the FAU student union that's called Steve's and their stuff is pretty good!
Academic Rigor Since the classes are small it's quite easy to be able to pay attention in class and get too distracted. But once again it all depends on who your teacher is.
Tips for prospective students Some tips are to do everything on your own if you can't figure it out then no one there can, unless you find one of those teachers who are willing to help. Also, not just at this college but at any college work hard because with those really terrible teachers you are definitely going to need it.
In three sentences Broward College has some very good and kind professors, who care if the students are getting the material or not. While there are others who are only focused on what they have to say, not what the students have to say. Their advisers are terrible helpers and I hope they are able to find people who can actually help with problems.

Categories Comments Campus Safety There's a blue emergency pole everywhere so if you need help you're never too far from one. Plus there is campus security everywhere.
Clubs and Activities I'm not in any, but the clubs that advertise usually have barbecues or games that non-club members can attend. It's fun.
Great for these types of students Laid back students. Quiet and load students. Smokers (they have smoking areas). Studen't who aren't sure they want to go to a large university but still don't want to get cheated. Mothers (they have a day care on all campuses). Everyone.
Bang for the buck If you are here for your AA its well worth it. Specially if you are on financial aid. They also have various opportunities to sell your books. People are friendly, but my schedule doesn't allow me to really form lasting bonds.
What to do for fun I normally go home and hang out with friends or read and sleep. Since there are a lot of fast food places you can hang out there. You can also join the various clubs they have on campus, hang by the large duck pond on both Central and South campuses, hang with friends in the grass or sit in the gazebos. Campus is pretty laid back,
Food and Dining I've never eaten in the actual cafeteria. The food smells nice though. I mostly eat off campus. They have a Wendy's, McDonals, Burger King, and a few sub shops near campus. There is a Dunking Donuts both off and on campus. If you are willing to make a short drive toward sterling there is a Panda Express, Pollo Tropical, Steak and Shake, Chipettes and other fast food places. Target is located in the Sterling Plaza as well.
Dorm Life I live with my family. I have no problems. So my dorm life is great. I commute to school and back because I don't live far. I have gone house hunting. The houses in the area aren't close to the campuses that I attend, Central, North, and South. Even so, I wouldn't get one because the rent is way out of my budget. Some 989 and up. Broward College doesn't provide housing.
Academic Rigor I'm only here for my AA degree. So far the work isn't all too difficult. That doesn't mean you shouldn't study. If you don't study, you will fail even the easiest of classes. I should also note that certain classes require more effort. My classes are easy because I study and my major doesn't require demanding work.
Tips for prospective students It's a good school to get your general requirment's knocked out (AA). You should handle your financial aid BEFORE you apply and check in with advisment every once in awhile. Keep track of your schedule online. Seriously, watch that sucker. I can't tell you how they did me wrong with some of my courses that I applied to early. By the time I realized what they did, I was blocked out of the class. I got back in because THEY made the mistake not me. Lastly, BE FORCEFUL but not a douche bag. If you know something is amiss, open your mouth and speak up for yourself. They will try to tell you things can't be done until x amount of time (lie), but if you speak up, they will see what they can do.
In three sentences Track your schedule, the advisors won't call you. Safety is great, they send up to date notices if anything is wrong. Work, it gets pretty boring so keep morale up.

Categories Comments Bang for the buck Overall, pass your classes, don't blend-in to the 'lame, quiet, and don't care' crowd that seems to exist in every class. Do well, distinguish yourself, even if you are a quiet type, many of us are. Also, here's an important tid-bit, If you're not doing well in a class early, I highly recommend you keep attention to the 'drop' and 'withdrawal' dates. GET OUT OF THE CLASS INSTEAD OF FAIL IT. If you're doing bad early while applying your average or usual input into 'the material', get out and deal with that class another semester. I didn't stand a chance in a certain MATH class, decided to try harder, failed, and it's greatly hurt my GPA ever since. My 3.something is a 2.77 because I failed one class - it took a long time to recover!.
What to do for fun In student life, there's usually video games being played on north campus. In that room also is a pool table and big screen with dvd's near. There's a fitness bi-room, auditorium (that hosts events), library, and multiple clubs/associations (I believe). Talking is the most common activity of entertainment, though , as far as I know these days.
Food and Dining You can chill and have consume if you want. Specific places for that are on campus, and so you and many others can do the same thing, in the same place if desired. Dining outside an option too, ofcourse. Teachers usually have their rules toward consumption in class.
Dorm Life No dorms at Broward college,.
Academic Rigor Homework isn't extensive. All of it has purpose, and with that being, is beneficial. Classwork assists the lesson. Having a sharp memory can benefit students invaluably.
Tips for prospective students Many told me blah, blah...you'll have to study and blah, blah, college is hard - their day/account isn't today's, in my view. Things are comfortable, maybe unless you're not satisfactory enough at time management or do alot of walking to get back and forth. Ending up with a preferred professor is imperative, the professor can leave you with a more 'aggresive' experience. Generally though, in every class, there's they lazy people, the complainers, those not as bright, the one's who distinguish...Overall, I'm enjoying my Broward educational time.
In three sentences Broward's pretty comfortable (- I attend North Campus). The teachings all utilized what you've learned through grade school and incorporate 'collegiate difficulty'. Unless you're a more 'closed' person, you'll encounter more of the world than prior, as some call it, 'the real world', but just a bit.

Academic Rigor Not too hard, not too easy. It depends on the teacher.
Tips for prospective students Ask a lot of questions, make sure your financial aid is accurate, don't procrastinate, and stay on top of everything. Look up your professors before choosing them.
In three sentences Broward College is convenient in location, it's not too far from home. The campus is not too big and you will never get lost. Also the classes are not too challenging or difficult so anyone can be accepted.

Bang for the buck The administrative and human resources for employees lack of feelings and employees are not happy. Deans, President and all the most important personnel in the school are bad people, but God is there and everyone has to pay here in the earth.

Categories Comments Campus Safety Inside the campus it is really safe since it is really small. Outside can be quite dangerous so be careful not to stay until very late.
Greek Life No greek life at all.
Clubs and Activities Almost no activities inside the university (at least not as much as any normal university of college in the States)
Great for these types of students Students that think that studying in the States the year after finishing High School in Peru is too soon but still want to go.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus Located in Lima, Peru, which is unusual for any university that is originally from the States.
Bang for the buck I believe the program is totally worth it and better than other because even if it the workload is not so demanding, in the end it will let me got into a US university, which can be better than a peruvian one.
What to do for fun There is no fun inside the university, but you can go out with friends. There is a mall quite close to the university.
Food and Dining The program is hosted by a Peruvian university and inside they have a cafeteria. The menu is alright and really cheap which is good, but there is not much variety.
Dorm Life There are no dorms since the campus is really small and also in Peru most, if not all, universities do not have dorms. You could rent an apartment but that is not very common.
Academic Rigor Not as good as I would like it to be. They teach us important stuff but the homework and work in general is not very demanding (at least not the first semester)
Tips for prospective students Try to keep your GPA as high as you possibly can, since that is a really easy task in Broward and it will help you transfer easily. Also, making friends will be quite easy for you so do not worry about that.

Categories Comments Campus Safety Central Campus- You don't always feel particularily safe, but that's just because you're at a college that feels mostly deserted and open and dark at night. Basically, it's an illusion, they have emergency call boxes and security is always there to escort you to your car at night. It's also pretty well lit. Security often patrols the campus constantly and wait with the people taking the bus. They check inside the buildings and everything. Plus, take comfort that the local police, Davie Police, are usually there. Since that's where most police take training to become officers, and there are usually a couple officers on campus, it keeps people from wanting to do stupid stuff. There hasn't been much crime or violence or something to my knowledge other than people stealing from cars (because people don't lock their car doors) and the school texts and/or calls all students on a particular campus if there is a lock down.
Greek Life none
Clubs and Activities Considering that it's a community college, they give away lots of scholarships, have lots of contests for free electronics and money. There's free condoms in the student life center, movie night, a huge variety of clubs and an Army ROTC program.
Great for these types of students broke, hard working students trying to cheapen their degree while working, possibly before transfering; hard working students getting a degree before they enlist in the military; parents trying to go back to school; lazy students who act like its still high school and have the maturity to match.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus at the end of winter and fall terms when the 3-d students put up statues and kinetic sculptures on campus for their finals.
Bang for the buck being close to south florida, a possibilty at a great education at a cheaper price than the college you are transferring to, being close to family and having the ability to live with them if you need support, and having the college experience (minus the dorms and greek) if you chose to. this school is really what you make of it.
What to do for fun bowling, a few local clubs, movies, comic book stores, shopping, the mall, laserquest, paintball, boomers, arcades, gun shooting ranges, archery ranges and all the nightlife and glory of local downtown Ft. Lauderdale and not that far off Miami.
Food and Dining Central Campus- Yeah there's just a cafeteria and vending machines on campus, which is a 2 because of price and availabilty, but there are tons of local resturaunts and fast food places in the area with plenty of variety for food options, as well as two close Publix's if you want grocery food or your classroom has a microwave available for use (some do, it's just getting to know the professor and using it between classes).
Dorm Life There is no on campus housing, although central campus which has 3 other universities in the area has plenty of local houses and apartment complexes catering to the local students. If you are closer to Nova it will be extra expensive because it's next to NSU, but nicer (for the most part). The cheaper side is near BC, but be warned, some of the housing is really shady.
Academic Rigor This depends on you, if you take hard classes where you will learn and the teacher is strict and knowledgeable you will get a 4 or maybe 5 star academic education. If you take slacker classes where you won't learn anything, the teacher won't teach and won't care you will get a 1 or 2 star education. It will easy, but you will have wasted years and money to have learned nothing about your future career. Your choice.
Tips for prospective students Always do your homework on what classes you need to take, the guidance counselor visits are mandatory but not productive. They assume the position that you should know what classes you need to take for your degree and know how to choose the correct degree or program for what you want to do in life. Do not expect them to know anything or help you because they wonâ??t, and if you think they did, you just got jipped. They do not allow this on campus when first registering for classes but look up your potential professors at ratemyprofessor.com or koofers.com preferably beforehand, but if not after and change classes if you donâ??t like the reviews. Donâ??t buy textbooks in classes where reviews specified that the teacher did not use or require the textbook, and wait on ones that the teacher or reviews donâ??t specify that you need them the first day. Itâ??s cheaper to buy books at local textbook stores (some rent!) or online. Carpooling and car naps are your friend. Bring lunch or eat at a local fast food establishment (some, like subway or dairyqueen give discounts for being students).
In three sentences If you are looking for a quality education, check through your professors carefully, some may have/currently worked at your original choice school but some professors are worse than high school teachers at knowledge and discipline so watch out, ratemyprofessor.com is your friend. It's absolutely impossible to get your credits though, the classes are always full and it will take you weeks of watching and patience to get the classes you need, if you are able; however some neat services that BC has such as submitting papers early to be critiqued by an English professor and the tutoring services really help. I've been informed that recently the classes are more expenses than regular colleges such as FAU, but price does not change quality, be warned that the library closes 15 minutes earlier than closing time and including the testing center and tutoring (Learning Community Resource), do your homework before visiting a guidance counselor on 1. what is generally taught to get your degree at the university you are transferring to, 2. What is required to get your degree at BC, 3. any credits you will need to take to properly transfer to the school of your choice, because none of them are helpful unless you are going for one of BC's star degrees (basically anything they offer a bachelorâ??s degree in)â??they donâ??t even know all the classes available at BC or anything about the other degrees offered at BC, your financial aid checks will come late every semester, mark my words, so plan accordingly.

Academic Rigor For the nursing program, what they say is that it is easy to get in but not easy to stay in. Study hard in Anatomy and Physiology I & II because they truly are the foundation of the course. When it comes to chemistry, really master the conversions and the chapter on pH will follow you for the rest of your career!
Tips for prospective students Take a copy of the General Florida Requirements and try to stay on track for whatever program you are in. It's tempting to take advantage of how affordable the classes are and just take a lot of unnecessary courses, so try to keep focused! Though I do regret not taking that course in scuba diving!
In three sentences I find Broward College very challenging but the professors are always willing to help. There are many student life programs to participate in and opportunities to make long-lasting friendships. I love Broward College!

Categories Comments Campus Safety Well there are always the guards in the golf carts going around and they always have drills in case of fire and such things. The only thing that kind of bothers me is that the campus is kind of open for anyone to come in (mostly because the library is open for all).
Clubs and Activities There are so many clubs like the anime club, game club sports club, art clubs, science club and other clubs. There is a big TV screen in a room near the Cafeteria that is used for events like movie nights, night specials and etc.
Great for these types of students BC is for anyone. They can be a great place to do the basics like calculus, composition, physics and then just transfer to the university you want and pay less then you would have if you had to do the basics there.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus Well on valentine day you can go to the gym there will be an event where there are a huge variety of chocolate for you to try, they have Sagan day there on North campus and there is the quiet lounge which is where students who don't want to go to the library and want a quiet place to go usually go.
Bang for the buck If you are part-time there is a chance depending on how much you got on the financial aid (Pell grant) that you wont have to pay much or anything at all... maybe only the books.
What to do for fun There are clubs, student lounge (with movies and video games), computers for everyone to use, a library and depending on which campus for example north has a golf area, the central have a park nearby and south i really don't know I never had to go there.
Food and Dining I gave it a 3 because they are good but kind of expensive and also do not expect things like rice and pork there they may have rice and steak sometimes but it isn't often, most of the time you can ask for hamburger made on the grill in front of you or other sandwiches.
Dorm Life I live close by so I have no idea.
Academic Rigor It depends on the teacher and if they are good. I have had very easy teachers who would do the review before the exam and I have had teachers who would take points off if you wrote a word wrong.
Tips for prospective students Talk to your class mate they will give good tips on which professor is good which ones tolerate tardiness ( if your job get in the way too much ) also try to choose your classes as early as you can the seats tend to go really fast. Try not to get there late because it takes at least 5 min or 10 min on a good day to find a parking space. Another tip if you get lost ask the guards going around in the small golf carts they may take you to your class.
In three sentences BC is a mixed bowl when the topic is teacher there are good, bad and the in-between ones there just be ready to do some class hopping. Tuition is not expensive and most of your financial aid will cover it.

Luckily Broward College is near many excellent universities such as FAU. (Locates in Fort Lauderdale and Boca Raton), Nova University, and FIU.
What to do for fun There are events and clubs available here from carnivals to political events like when First Lady Michelle Obama came.
Food and Dining The cafeteria is available to students, vending machines are always at your disposal and there are tons for restaurants on the same road as BC. My favorite is the Dunkin Donuts a block before it and IN BC
Dorm Life No dorm life is available at this college have fun commuting
Academic Rigor Broward college can be challenging in certain classes, studying is a must for every class, and attendance is a great thing to keep up on especially when you want to ask your teachers for help, extra credit, or recommendation letter.

Categories Comments What to do for fun BC's campus is always teeming with life, and there is never a dull moment. There a various clubs that are on display near the cafe, and numerous festivals that active during different times of the year. Being on the BC campus is a blast!
Food and Dining BC has plenty of eateries around the campus. There is food court that sells an array of food in building 19, a Dunkin' Donuts in building 17 (or formally know as the library.) , and there is a restaurant located in FAU's Davie location called Steve's Cafe that many BC students find themselves going to.
Dorm Life Since BC use to be a community college this school does not offer Dormitories.
Academic Rigor BC has an excellent staff that will prepare you for the rigors of the field you wish to get into. Many believe since BC is no UF or FSU that the courses are not as challenges as those found in those institutions, but this is FALSE! Courses taken at BC are challenging and provide with the necessary tools to excel in your field of choose.
Tips for prospective students To all prospective students looking to apply it is important to be aware of the demands of each course. Food and Dining Not too bad but not too much to choose from.

Tips for prospective students Just come to Broward with an open mind and motivated and you will be successful.

Academic Rigor The courses are very challenging at Broward College and some of the professors are very work oriented. You have to study the material or you will not pass the course. I have received my first IT certification while at Broward College, their testing programs help to prepare you for success.

Categories Comments Food and Dining Broward College offers indeed 5 star food and beverages! From its variety of hot food, snacks and coffee and breakfast items, sandwiches, soups and salads. Broward College certainly equips much of the food sources, beverages that college students need in order to survive the in depth but attainable journey of college. In fact, as soon as you enter Broward College campus, the food and dining areas are easy to find; also there are vending machines all around the campus just in case someone needs to replenish his or herself before or after class. Undoubtedly, the food is served with great quality and the dining area serves a comfortable, clean environment with a big screen television.
Dorm Life Although Broward College doesn't have on-campus living, the great diversity of people who attend campus during various class hours, as well as the compelling nature on campus surely fills in that void. Furthermore, Broward College offers different intermission, social places on campus which is certainly is a necessity during busy class hours.
Academic Rigor Broward College has a fairly lenient academic rigor. At Broward College the academic policy varies, based on; the amount of academic progress a student is exemplifying towards his or her degree also, the program of study grade point average. For example, if a student entered Broward College with a 3.0 grade point average, which met his or her program of study grade point average.
