Categories Comments Great for these types of students Students that are interested in joining many social groups, athletic programs, media, fashion productions, and theater.
Tips for prospective students Buffalo State College has six different schools that offer a large selection of majors. The schools are the School of Arts and Humanities, the School of Education, the School of Natural and Social Sciences, the School of the Professions, Graduate School, and University College. Do you research and i am sure you will find majors and minors that fix you.
Bang for the buck its is a great school that is more affordable than others. Tuition is under $20,000 a year and the school offers scholarships, just inquire about them.
Am enjoying being here Campus life is great. There is never a dull moment. There are always different activities that appeal to every type of person. On Tuesdays and Thursdays Bengal Pause occurs, which is a period of time where no classes are taking place. This allows social and study groups to meet.
Am learning a lot The professors I have had since beginning Fall 2008 have been extremely helpful. They are available before and after class if you would like to speak with them and also through email. No matter what your problem is, they do what they can to assist you.

Categories Comments Great for these types of students Buffalo State is perfect for students looking for more than just an education, students hoping to make friends and get involved; it is large enough to feel like a real college but small enough to become acquainted with professors, to make friends easily and participate in some of the many clubs. There is a great social atmosphere at buff state including a lot of student-focused activities day and night.
Tips for prospective students Whether you dorm or live at home, get involved on campus! The best way to make the most of your college experience is to try something new, you never know, you just might like it. Also, don't be afraid to talk to your teachers and ask questions, it's your grade, don't be too cool to do well. Teachers at Buff State have designated office hours and they love when students stop by with questions or comments about class. Make sure to get your financial aide information taken care of quickly because it may put a hold on your account that could delay registration for classes.
Bang for the buck Buffalo State College is a very affordable four-year college. For in-state students living at home, tuition is under $5,000 a year and for resident students, tuition, room and board plus meal plans comes to around $13,000- $20,000 and there are many scholarship and financial aide opportunities available if you are willing to look for them. For such an inexpensive school, Buff State has a lot to offer. Dorms are not bad as far as dorms go, and in the student union, there are two eating areas, a Barnes and Noble bookstore and plenty of space to hang out or study. The E.H Butler library is ideal for studying and research and the well-equipped Houston athletic facility includes a fitness center (with free membership to students), ice rink, swimming pool and more.
Am enjoying being here As a commuter, it was challenging at first making friends, but there are many clubs on campus and activities to get involved in from sports activities, drama, extracurricular art classes, religious activities, student government, etc. On Tuesdays and Thursdays during Bengal Pause (12-1:40) most classes are not in session and there will often be demonstrations or free activities. Most students spend this time getting lunch, relaxing, meeting with clubs or just hanging out.
Am learning a lot Like any school, Buffalo State College can be as challenging as you make it. If you put in the effort to learn and study you can do very well. Teachers at Buff State are usually very helpful and fair, since it is not a huge school, it is easy to get to know teachers and spend time after class addressing any questions or concerns. There are also many honors societies available for students looking for even more of an academic challenge.

Categories Comments Great for these types of students If you're artsy, and want to be in a big city, Buffalo State College would be great for you. Students who are okay with being at a big...HUGE school. People who realize there's going to be A LOT of partying, but have the control to engage in it or stay away.
Tips for prospective students Remember that just because this is a SUNY school, doesn't mean you're automatically accepted. Only about 42% of students get into Buffalo State each year that apply, so make sure you still do your best on your application! (:
Bang for the buck As far as Music, Communications, and obviously teaching - that being widely popular there - I know that the education one could get from Buff State would be just as great as a more expensive private school. I have friends paying between 40 and 62 thousand dollars a year for school! Crazy! This fall, for tution, other fees, and room and board I'll be paying about 18,000 dollars a year and I think that's incredibly affordable for such a great education that is being offered.
Will enjoy being here I think the reason for my high rating is that I have family in Buffalo, as well as my best friend attending Canisius College to see all the time, but Buffalo State is in a great area. It's in the Museum district, per se. It's in a very liberal and artsy part of town, so if you're one of those types of people who enjoy that, that's great. The college is within a city but it's entirely all-inclusive...no crossing a busy street to go between buildings! There are a bajillion clubs from what I've heard, a very active student union and a nice, up-to-date athletic facility. I'm pretty sure if you go out in search of it, there will always be something to do here. People often harp on the partying and how they want to party, but if you want to have clean fun, there's plenty of room for that as well.
Will learn a lot I am going to be a Music/Communications major at the school in the fall of 2011. I anticipate learning a lot, because despite this being the biggest SUNY school in the system, the music program at Buff State is small, selective, and home-y. The Communications department is one of the three accredited ones in New York State (Syracuse is one of the others, I don't remember the other), which is ridiculously impressive for a SUNY school; only about 15% or so of colleges NATIONALLY get accredited!

Categories Comments Great for these types of students This is a great school for artsy-type people who enjoy museums, art galleries, fashion, or any other type of art.
Tips for prospective students Make sure you get everything filled out and sent in as soon as you decide you will attend. It makes everything go faster and easier, and you won't feel a sense of panic that you are missing something. Also, don't be afraid to email advisers, Admissions, Financial Aid, etc., because all the information you get can be confusing, and they're there to help! Everyone is very nice and can clear up any confusion easily.
Bang for the buck Obviously, this is a SUNY school, so you are already saving a lot of money, but Buffalo State is a great example of how you can get a great education without breaking the bank. My minor is pretty rare, so I could go to a very expensive and exclusive college, but Buffalo State has an exemplary program at a fraction of the cost.
Will enjoy being here I did an overnight visit at Buffalo State recently, and I loved every minute there. There is always something going on somewhere on campus, and there are a ton of clubs and societies for every interest. The Student Union has a huge list of clubs and interests that someone can join in, and there is always another person who shares your interests. Also, it is right in the Museum District, which is perfect for my minor, as well as giving a lot of internship opportunities.
Will learn a lot I have a very specific program that I am doing as a minor: Museum Studies. Buffalo State is one of only 12 colleges in the country that offer this at the undergraduate level, so I know I will be getting ahead in the museum field.

Categories Comments Campus Safety the campus police have a visible presence on campus. parking areas are well-lit, and there are vans that can take you to your car if you are walking alone. there are also emergency phones located all over the place, so if there is a problem you can quickly and easily notify campus police.
Great for these types of students excellent choice for non-traditional students.
Bang for the buck with buffalo state being a suny school, it's priced reasonably. i'm getting a great education at a low cost.
What to do for fun buffalo state is just minutes from the elmwood village, which affords a lot of shopping, restaurants, and nightlife. in addition, the campus is right across the street from the albright-knox art gallery.
Food and Dining the student union offers several options for dining in the food court, and also the dining hall. in addition, there are several cafes located around campus to get a quick cup of coffee and bite to eat.
Dorm Life i am a commuter, so i really can't say much about dorm life!
Academic Rigor professors in the english department expect only that you will complete assigned reading on time and be able to discuss in class. it is college, so i think that is expected anywhere you go.
Tips for prospective students stay focused! the workload can overwhelm you if you don't stay motivated!
In three sentences buffalo state has a very diverse student population. bengal pause (an hour on tues/thurs during which no classes are held) offers an opportunity to meet other students and relax in the student union. professors are fantastic and accessible!

Categories Comments Campus Safety There are police officers everywhere. They patrol quite a bit. They cannot keep everything from happening, but they try to urge people to do safe things, like ring the blue panic button to walk to the car.
Greek Life I belong to Kappa Omega National Honor's Society. I don't know anymore about Greek Life than that.
Clubs and Activities There are about 75 or more clubs on campus. It just is a matter of what you are interested in. I belong to the SSWO, which is the Student Social Work Organization. It is fun being a part of something. It ties you to people on campus.
Great for these types of students I recommend Buffalo State for anyone that is looking for a bachelor's degree. They have many different programs available. I am not even sure of all of them. I am doing my social work degree at this school and enjoy the program immensely.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus One thing that Buffalo State College does is a box-a-thon. People live in a box for 3 days in the fall months to show how the homeless live. It is an interesting thing to see.
Bang for the buck This is a SUNY school, so it is a great opportunity to get a reasonably inexpensive education at a great school!!!
What to do for fun What is there not to do for fun at Buff State. There is always something going on. There are activities that USG is involved in. There are activities for all the different groups. There is a Friday Night Live show featuring amateur comedians from the school. We even get free chicken dinners sometimes, like this week during homecoming.
Food and Dining There are many selections to make at Buff State. They have a side where you can get ala carte items from places like Subway, a pizza place, a chinese place, to many more fast food places. Also, Buff State has the side, where you can have an all you can eat buffet.
Dorm Life I am a commuter, so I cannot respond to dorm life. From what I can tell, many of the freshman and sophomores enjoy the family environment of dorm life.
Academic Rigor The classes are not easy. They try to educate you in the short time that they have you. There are classes in the school and online. Some of the online classes are harder, but all the classes are worth it. I have learned a lot from my experience at Buff State College.
Tips for prospective students Try to join organizations as soon as you get there. Be a part of something bigger and better. They are always looking for volunteers which looks great on your resume and when applying to grad school.
In three sentences I currently attend school at Buffalo State College, where I am a commuter and non-traditional student. Buffalo State has been welcoming and the professors try hard to give the students a rigorous class. I feel that Buffalo State is a great college experience.

Categories Comments What to do for fun Go to the art galleries and museums that are literally within walking distance from most of the campus! You get discounts and it's something fun to do for a date or even just with friends. They even have fun events sometimes on Friday Nights.
Food and Dining Retail dining does not have that many options and the prices are kind of high. If you're looking to eat healthy, bring your own lunch.
Dorm Life The dorms at Buffalo State are not the greatest. They are pretty small and you have two roommates sometimes. The student apartments however, are really nice and big but you also pay quite a bit for those.
Academic Rigor The teachers at Buffalo State really know what they're talking about. Although classes might seem insanely boring, they can really help you out. A lot of the teachers will meet with you outside of class and help you out if you need it.
Tips for prospective students Take tours of the campus multiple times, talk to current students, meet with professors in your prospective major, and most of all; ask questions!
In three sentences Buffalo State is a really fun place to be. There are so many clubs and student organizations that you can join on campus. Definitely get involved as much as possible because you will make so many new friends and have once in a lifetime opportunities.

Great for these types of students its a good school if you want to be really far from your parents while still being in new york and if you just want the overall experience of living in a dorm in a different part of new york, really good school if you are the loner type because you are not really forced to socialize even in the classroom depending on the instructor

Food and Dining the food is not the best but it fills you up, i would suggest learning how to cook and getting familiar with wegmans and tops, the grocery stores because they sell fresh dinners
Dorm Life the dorms are terrible, your best bet is to live in the new student complex which is quite expensive but worth it. be ready to have loud music, vomit and crazy nights no matter where you live aside from the student apartment complex because they have strice resident directors
Academic Rigor the classes for liberal arts are like high school courses butr if you are a science major be ready to really take a beating depending on the instructor, most are very willing to help you and ensure that you at least past the class the class with understanding
Tips for prospective students get a job your freshman year anywhere on campus as soon as possible but the school is pretty fair with financial aid

Categories Comments Clubs and Activities Besides Sports, there are very few activities to do.
What to do for fun there are usually parties either downtown on weekends and a few sports games. the buses run pretty frequently so going downtown is pretty easy.
Food and Dining it is relativly easy to make sure you do not gain the freshman 15 if you pay attention to what you eat. the only down side to the all you can eat side is that sometimes, there are little options.
Dorm Life the corridor style freshman dorms are great for meeting new friends. the towers however, feel secluded as you mainly stay in your suite. it is a little hard to have group interaction if you are not on a sports team.
Academic Rigor Classes are relatively simple depending on the course. make sure to check you're professor on rate my professor before enrolling for a class
Tips for prospective students Make sure you pick a major so you are not stuck doing only gen ed classes. find a club or activity to join.

Greek Life There are a few fraternities and sororities.
Great for these types of students People that want to succeed. Also it is not a huge campus. The buildings are easy to find and generally all in one location. You do not have to drive to get to another classroom.
Bang for the buck You really are getting a great education here. I feel prepared to be a teacher because of all of the experience I am getting here. The teachers want you to succeed.
What to do for fun You can join a sports team or get involved in a club. Whatever your major is, there is most likely a club that you can join. Also, since it is Buffalo, downtown is a big thing that students from Buffalo State go to.
Food and Dining There are a great variety of choices for whatever you are in the mood for.

Categories Comments Campus Safety Campus police patrol the area quite a bit; however, this is not a school that you will feel safe walking around the campus at 1:00 AM. There is some crime in the area, but just be cautious.

Clubs and Activities There are a large variety of clubs and activities which can fulfill the diverse interests of each individual student.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus There is a SpringFest at the end of the year offered through the Student Government.
Bang for the buck Depending on what you're looking for, I would say you are getting more bang for your buck. The academics overall are decent and the people here are friendly, with professors who are approachable and a diverse range of students for being such a small school.
What to do for fun There are places on and nearby campus where you can go. For example, Burchfield Penny Art Center and the planetarium, which are located on the campus. Outside of campus, Delaware Park is a nice place to go and if you enjoy shopping or different kinds of cuisine, nearby Elmwood Village offers a variety of options.
Food and Dining I never tried the dining hall food but they do have many other options beside that on campus which are suitable for everyone.
Dorm Life I never had the opportunity to live in the dorms but have heard that it is not bad. The apartments on campus are supposed to be really nice.
Academic Rigor Prior to attending Buffalo State, I attended a comparable school and it felt as though the standards there were higher than they are at Buffalo State.

In three sentences Buffalo State is a small school in a more urban environment that provides a quality education depending on your program. There are many things that the school offers both in and outside of campus, including Burchfield Penny Art Center and a planetarium. Finally, from what I have heard, safety can be an issue, but so far I have never run into any trouble with that.

Categories Comments Campus Safety The University Police Department (UPD) on our campus is very involved and alert, they are always around when you need them day or night. During my freshmen orientation they introduced themselves to my freshmen class and made sure each of us had their number on speed dial. I feel completely safe on campus and that's a really big deal for me considering our campus is open to the public. UPD's number one rule on campus is the buddy system, make sure you never travel alone.
Greek Life Buffalo State offers the Divine Nine as well as many others sororities and fraternities.
Clubs and Activities Buffalo State offers a numerous amount of clubs on campus just to list a few there is the United Students Government (USG), BSC-TV Channel, African American Student Organization (AASO), Fashion Student Association (FSA), Caribbean Students Organization (CSO), Pride Alliance, Step Expression etc. In addition to these clubs if you would like to join a club that we don't offer you could easily start one yourself.
Great for these types of students Buffalo State College is great for any type of student really. Our campus is very diverse and we provide a wide variety of groups, organizations, clubs, sports etc.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus It's not really a tradition but we do the wobble. I learned it during my freshmen orientation it's one of those cute school spirit things that's fun to do every once in a while. They have a how to video on YouTube called the Orientation Wobble where some of the orientation leaders of 2011 show you the basic steps.
What to do for fun Friday Night Live, Karaoke Night, any Buff State group/club event, the Burchfield Penney Art Gallery, Delaware Park, nightlife in downtown Buffalo and all the great restaurants and bars down Elmwood are all fun things to do at Buffalo State as well as in Buffalo.
Food and Dining The food on campus overall is okay. The dining hall I believe is open from 7am-8:30pm and they offer breakfast, lunch and dinner. The dining hall has their days when they serve good food like pasta, fried chicken, stir fry, mashed potatoes. They often have themed days like taco night and wing night stuff like that. But then there are other times when they decide to have breakfast for dinner or not so good food and that's when we head over to the retail side. Right now the retail side is begin renovated so when I go back they may have different vendors but there was a burger place called SmashBurger, a sandwich and salad place, an Italian place that served pasta, pizza, bread sticks and my favorite pizza logs. Then there was Salsaritas, a Mexican spot and then The Strip that was basically that chicken spot. Your meal plan is split between these two areas of dining.
Dorm Life Overall I think the dorm life is one of the many good things at Buffalo State. The rooms are bigger than most rooms I've seen at any other college and they provide us with a great amount of storage space in each room to hold all of our junk. The facilities in each freshmen dorm are kept neat and tidy by the cleaning staff, each dorm has a lounge(s) as well as a full kitchen.
Academic Rigor Overall I believe that academics at Buffalo State are great. Every once in a while you'll come across a class that is truly an easy A but most classes are challenging and keep your mind active and brain juices flowing.
Tips for prospective students My tip for prospective students is to not let your dorm room consume you. I know at first it might seem like those four walls are the safest place for you to be because your in a new place with new people and all you really want to do is go home to your family so you put your guard up. But listen if you stick with this mentality then what was really the point of you choosing the campus life at all. The way I see it campus life is like dating, at first you have that well...I don't know feeling but then later on as you get to know that person you put your shield down, wave the white flag and put yourself out there. Of course you could possibly get hurt but that's what life is about. Buffalo State as well as Buffalo in general has so much to offer so get out there and get to know it!
In three sentences Buffalo State College, in a nutshell, is a diamond in a rough. The school right now is underconstruction and in the process of being updated and upgraded. But aside from the eye sores of the construction sites I would rate Buffalo State a solid 4.

Categories Comments What to do for fun Fun on campus can take shape as going to a football game or some kind or RA event but what makes UB nightlife really great is the accessibility both to Main Street by South Campus where they have 18+ clubs and downtown where you can have a ton of fun.
Food and Dining The Food at UB is above par for college food. The dining halls are all you can eat and always have basics like chicken fingers and pizza as well as other options that rotate. They also have great resturats on campus that work into the meal plan like Tim Hortons (a staple in buffalo) Moes, and Jamba Juice to name a few.
Dorm Life The dorms at UB are great. I've had a chance to live in the new sophomore dorm building and it was a great experience. UB also has dorms on both campuses so you can choose which is more convenient for you.
Academic Rigor I've enjoyed all the major related classes I've taken at UB. Some of the gen ed's p[roved to be a bit lackluster but when you start taking the classes you want it is interesting and challenging!
Tips for prospective students Get to know where your classes are before the first day of classes. The Academic Spine may be a bit confusing at first but in a little while you'll know it like the back of your hand.
In three sentences I enjoy the large, but still community like feel of the campus. The teachers in the department I study in are fantastic and I would recommend them to any student who was interested. Overall it's a great place to learn.

What to do for fun There are always some type of activities to do for fun on Campus. Also students tend to attend to clubs most likely every weekends. Most of the time they start to go out on Thursday night because they won't have class the next day.
Food and Dining The foods are Okay it depend on the student choice to find out what he or she really enjoy. In regard to the dining it is a wonderful environment for students to cope with each other.
Dorm Life Dorm life can be fun by interacting with other students who are foreigners. However, there are rules and regulations the students have to follow at all time.
Academic Rigor Students must study hard in order for them to achieve their grade. Also, Professors always willing to help if a student is having trouble with a subject.

Categories Comments Campus Safety There are several officers on foot and cars circulating the campus. We all have the number of the campus police in our phones (it's required during orientation). There's also buses that drive around campus to pick you up and take you where you need to go (but only on campus).
Greek Life I Love It!
Clubs and Activities There's tons and the programs and parties they have are fun!
Great for these types of students There is something here for everybody, HONESTLY. I have bonded and met people that I never dreamed of being associates or more-less friends, no offense...but it's a beautiful experience. There's a lot of organizations on campus (not sure of the exact number but you can just google it) and even if you do not want to join one, there are programs that they put on for everyone, like game night for the gamers, a drag- show for LBTG's and their supporters, Greeks have programs to find out more information about each individual group. There are African American groups, Caucasians, Asian, and a lot of other ethnic organizations, dance groups, in addition to the student government, for those of you whom may be interested in that and you'll be surprised to see who comes out to the programs. You'll find that you have a lot in common with people you've never expected. But the list goes on and on, you'll find something.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus The wobble is our campus signature dance. Learn it! :) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fE_64SdD27w
Bang for the buck As a student currently attending Buffalo State College, I'd say yes I do get my bang for the buck. I have a lot of fun, I learn a lot, not only academics wise but about myself, my limits, and about others as well. The campus is diverse to a certain extent, the organizations on campus are unique and I've made life long friends that I'll cherish for the rest of my life. I'm sure if you come here, you will too!
What to do for fun I'm in a dance group, so I dance of coarse. The football and basketball games are fun; There are several other athletic teams that hold games on campus as well. There is ALWAYS something going on, on campus. The sorority and fraternities and the other organizations always have something going. There's something for EVERYBODY. There's always a party or event to attend, a friend to visit, like I said you'll have fun!
Food and Dining I hate the food! lol It's disgusting. Hopefully they'll change it this semester. We're supposed to get a subway but we'll see how that taste.
Dorm Life Dorm life is cool, you'll DEFINITELY have fun! The upper class-men dorms look better, honestly but you decorate the room the way you want. But there are some restrictions like bringing extra furniture, its fire hazard. Besides that you'll have fun, everybody's really cool.
Academic Rigor Academics is the core decision maker for most things on campus; rather you want to get into one of the better dorms, join the Greek life, or simply for respect from your professors and peers, it's really important. The professors are really there for you, office hours or in class. I feel like they actually want to be there and they are definitely very knowledgeable about the subjects they teach. Some of my professors have even offered to help me in some of my other courses. Also, the library is open 24/7 and you'll access to several computers, books, and printers. Last but not least, for those of you that may not have the money or just simply don't want to buy the book, some professors leave 2 or 3 copies that you can rent for about 2 or 3 hours.
Tips for prospective students Be yourself, continue to value the values and moral you always have. Have fun but keep your head in the books. Work hard-play hard!
In three sentences The professors are very dedicated, easy to talk to, and want their students to do well. The social life is cool, everybody is really friendly and the greek life is everything! I love my school, I'd rate it a 9.

Food and Dining The food is okay maybe alil too expensive but okay
Dorm Life The dorms on campus look like section 8 housing, they are flithy, and the some of the RA's can be complete jerks, and take their little positions too seriously.
Academic Rigor Depending on your major, and your outlook of college life from a academic persepective, the academic rigor depends soley, on the professor that instructs the class for that semester.
Tips for prospective students If you enroll here pending on your preferences of how college life ought to be enjoy and take advantage of every moment.

Bang for the buck Compare to private school tuition, this is a good deal.
What to do for fun Go to different posted around school. It is a good way to meet new people.
Food and Dining I have to say the food sucks. Besides the salad bar, it is rarely that you get satisfying meal. Even if they have something good, there is always something missing or wrong.
Dorm Life The freshman dorms are big, but if you are unlucky, they might put you in triple. That would be pleasant because you would have a messy and overcrowd. I did not like this experience so currently looking to change my room. So decide early and send in your application early.
Academic Rigor It can be challenging if you make it challenging. Otherwise, for me it seems like very easy if you just do what you are told to do.
Tips for prospective students Do everything early, you are more likely to get what you want. Also apply so school scholarships so you do not have to borrow. (SideNote: If you want a really bang for your buck, apply to University at Buffalo too. But make sure they have your program.)

What to do for fun There are lots of clubs to get involved in, or you can hangout in the union. On thrusday nights it's college night downtown, or you can go see a movie.
Food and Dining The food for me is okay. I usually don't buy lunch at school but if I had to I could pick something I'd like. We also got a subway this year which is awesome.
Dorm Life Unfortunately I do not dorm, but dorming is a great way to make friends. I wish I would have dormed but then again some of the dorm rooms are too small. That's why living at home is a plus.
Academic Rigor Keep up with your reading and study when you have breaks. Make you you manage your time so you still have time to have a social life.

Categories Comments Campus Safety Campus safety could be better, but that's a risk you have to be willing to take with an open campus. You're not going to get mugged if you're walking to your car alone, but just be aware of your surroundings. There are emergency poles around campus for this reason, and the escort van is available to drive you to your car if you ever feel unsafe.
Bang for the buck I love everything about Buff State. I think for just a little bit more than you would pay to attend a community college, you get a much better experience.

Great for these types of students Great for people who want a quality education for a low-cost. The community feel is very welcoming to people leaving their families, and the outside community provides for plenty of entertainment and fun.
Bang for the buck Buffalo state is one of the cheapest (cost-wise) SUNY schools, but the classes are packed with information and the professors really know what they're talking about.
What to do for fun The campus organizations are always putting on different events for students. For Homecoming we have a cart contest and parade (decorate a shopping cart and the winners for different categories get prizes). In the spring, United Students Government puts on a Springfest with rides, food and bands.

Categories Comments Campus Safety While I personally have never had any problems you need to be careful walking off campus after dark. There are escorts that you can call to walk you to your car or next class as well as police patrolling. However it is very important that you be aware and conscious of your surroundings as there are some sketchy neighborhoods nearby.
What to do for fun They have many activities that are posted around the campus and are offered free through the college. Also Delaware park is directly across from it and is a great place to go and walk, bike, boat etc. There are 2 art galleries within walking distance and Elmwood is a great place to go for dining and entertainment, also walking distance.
Food and Dining The food in the cafeteria is decent. They carry a lot of choices for the health conscious. It is slightly overpriced but most college campuses are.
Dorm Life I am not sure as I have never lived in the dorms, but some of them seem to be in need of updating.
Academic Rigor I would say Buffalo State is slightly less rigorous that University at Buffalo but as the degrees that are obtained can take you to the same place it may be a good choice for those concerned with academic rigor.
Tips for prospective students Be sure to check rate my professor before taking classes. One bad professor can turn you off to a subject that you may otherwise really enjoy. Be sure to meet with the advisers AND double check your schedules as mistakes have been made in the past.
In three sentences Smaller class sizes and an open office hours policy make Buffalo State a great college for those who may need some one on one with professors. Campus is under renovations and there are many new building being built to help students further their education. It is also one of the least expensive of colleges in the SUNY system making it a great choice for those concerned with finance.

Academic Rigor I will be starting in the fall of 2013 at Buffalo State, and currently don't really have much to say about the academic rigor. I do have to say though there are a lot of what they call foundation courses they make you take that I find useless to the actual degree I am going for.
