    Review the course textbook and literature before the semester starts so you are well aware of what you will be learning throughout the semester. When you are having difficulties with something being taught, request one-on-one time with the professor to show him that you care about the class.

    Make sure to check ratemyprofessor.com or ask around, there are some truly horrendous teachers, but a good deal more truly dedicated and student oriented professors. Some of the degree req's can be a bit confusing or arbitrary, and the upper management in general is fairly inept, applying to the CUNY BA program can really broaden your options. Stick to your guns and make your own way, side step the bad teachers and you'll have a great experience.
