Categories Comments Great for these types of students Students who would like a somewhat intimate and small student body and campus would enjoy PBU. It is also great for those who want to grow spiritually while preparing for a career.
Tips for prospective students I would recommend visiting PBU before making a decision. It is very helpful to be able to get a feeling of what a school is like before deciding to attend it. PBU has a program where prospective students can stay overnight in a dorm and attend classes. This definitely helps prospective students see how it is run and what it is like.
Am enjoying being here It did not take me very long to find friends. It is a very welcoming and friendly environment. From the moment you arrive at PBU you are encouraged to be involved and have fun while receiving your education.
Am learning a lot Many of the teachers really want students to think for themselves. Students are encouraged to formulate their own opinions and views based on God's Word and knowledge they obtain.

Categories Comments Great for these types of students Christians wanting to study the Bible, to engage the world around them, and to grow spiritually.
Tips for prospective students Pray about it. I've heard many stories in addition to my own about students who had PBU lower on their list of preferred colleges, but it somehow ended up at the top. The only reason we have is that God wants us here. Look into the different programs! WWC and BI are both great programs that I did not get to participate in, unfortunately. The BI (Bible and Israel) program is a one year program that intensely studies only the Bible and Israel. Then they go to Israel for two weeks!
Bang for the buck I have definitely gotten my money's worth out of this year. If you are willing to put forth the effort, you will too.
Am enjoying being here My closest friends have become my family away from home. I just finished my freshman year and cannot wait until fall finally comes so that I can go back! The campus is small, but beautiful! There are many different opportunities available; some are harder to find than others. For example, student senate, Remnant (drama ministry), puppet ministry, handbell choir, intramural sports, an outdoor club, as well as various youth groups that you can help with off-campus.
Am learning a lot Not only am I learning more than I ever did at a Charter high school (which is a school that focuses on academics), but I'm learning how to think and how to question.

Categories Comments Great for these types of students Students who want to glorify God through their career will learn to do so at PBU. If you're looking to find a path that allows you to be a dedicated Christian in the workforce, PBU is for you!
Tips for prospective students Don't be afraid to ask your counselor questions and be sure to visit the campus. PBU definitely has it's own lifestyle, so make sure you will enjoy it.
Bang for the buck PBU gives both need-based and merit aid and is priceless because of the warm nature it gives to all that are there.
Will enjoy being here The campus is SO serene and beautiful. It will be great to study near the pond during the warmer months.
Will learn a lot The faculty is completely helpful and encouraging during the entire process. The professors genuinely want you to do your best and are very down-to-earth.

Categories Comments Campus Safety The Campus Safety department is a good way to keep the campus safe, and if you ever have a problem you can call them.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus Augustivus is the Weekend of Welcome for the incoming freshman which basically is an orientation before the upperclassmen come. So freshman can meet each other and get to know how the school is and take a trip into Philadelphia.
What to do for fun Hang out with friends, play sports, and sleep when you can.
Food and Dining The food is great, but you'll get used to it eventually and realize that you tend to hate it.
Dorm Life The dorm life is pretty amazing and you can make some long-lasting friends at any college you go to.
Academic Rigor Classes were good, and the student/teacher ratio is about 14/1 so developing a better relationship with your teacher education wise is very easy.
Tips for prospective students Get enough sleep everyday no matter what. Breakfast is the most important meal of the day so try to eat before you go to class to stay awake.
In three sentences The first year of your college life is always the toughest. For me at PBU was the major free time given at school where I procrastinated until the last minute. Whenever you have time to get your work done, get it over with so you won't become overwhelmed with school work the night before.

Categories Comments Campus Safety There is always at least one security guard on duty, and they are always driving around the campus. There are safety stations, and there is a phone number given to students to reach the school security dispatch office.
What to do for fun There are plenty of student activities set up by the Student Life office. There are also two malls within ten minutes, and plenty to do in town.
Food and Dining The food in the cafeteria is decent, there are always plenty of options for students at every meal. The Eagle's nest is a cafe in the MAC that has great food and is included in your meal plan, and for commuters, it may be cheaper than the cafeteria.
Dorm Life Living in the dorms is a good time, the dorms are very nice, and the Resident Life team is great and is always there to help. If there is something that needs to be fixed in your room, campus services is very good about getting the job done.
Academic Rigor Teachers expect a high level of academic responsibility from students, but not an impossible amount. Depending on the class, work can be anywhere from easy thinking questions, to material based papers.

Categories Comments Campus Safety Campus security is constantly monitoring campus grounds. ID cards are needed to enter each building and keys are needed to enter each dorm room. Girls are not able to scan into guys's dorms and vise versa. Manor residents can't scan into heritage hall and vise versa. This allows limited access into dorms.
Great for these types of students Students interested in music, social work, and teaching, these are Cairn's strongest majors.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus The name Cairn means a pile of stones used to memorialize an important event. Students like to take photos of piling items like laptops and call it Cairning. These photos usually end up on facebook.
Bang for the buck There are many scholarships available at Cairn such as an academic scholarship. Students may use up 12 credits with CLEP tests instead of taking a course. Students may also take J-term (winter break courses) or summer class instead of taking it during the school year. These options allow students to possible eliminate an entire semester.
What to do for fun There is plenty of activities to do. Participating in the school's plays are a lot of fun. There are a few co-ed lounges to play games, watch movies, or just talk. Campus is up the road from the train station that can take anyone into Philadelphia if one pleases to do so. A small grocery store is close by for students convenience.
Food and Dining There are many options for food. In the cafeteria there is a hot food section, a salad section, a grill station where the food is prepared before you, a pizza or burrito bar, a deli, a dessert table, and an ice cream cart. For those days where you may not want to go the cafeteria, but instead want something like a burger of chicken fingers, the eagles nest is available. Students are limited to the amount of free meals they receive. After this number is reached, students may pay for meals.
Dorm Life Dorm life is great! There are a few different options for dorms. There is Manor Hall, which is very close to to the classrooms for those who like to be close. Each room can fit two people and is connected to your suit by a bathroom. For those who don't mind being a little further from classes and would like a larger, nicer room, Heritage Hall is a good option. There are six wings; 3 girls, 3 boys separated by the great room ( a co-ed lounge area with a pool table, coaches, and a pin-pong table.) Each room in Heritage has it's own bathroom and can hold two people. For those who don't mind being further away from campus and living with multiple people, the Pendel apartments. This option is the cheapest, but still the furthest away. However, there is a shuttle that runs every 15 minutes to main campus.
Academic Rigor If you know what you would like to major in or if you're undeclared, Cairn classes are excellent. Class size varies between each class, but never to large for a face to not be seen. Professors are excited to share the information they teach.
Tips for prospective students For those interested in attending Cairn, there are many fun activities to participate in. For those who tend to need help, teachers are easy to talk to and there is a writing lab available which is helpful for writing papers for any class. Personally, I do well in my classes, work in the cafeteria, am in the play, and still have time to hang with friends! And if you are unsure on how to manage your time, each student is assigned an adviser.
In three sentences Cairn University is a small campus to help students meet their big dreams. Faculty here not only help students within their academics but also help them learn more about Christ Jesus. The motto, walk a different path encourages students to be different by showing the love of God.

Categories Comments Campus Safety Very safe.
Greek Life None
Clubs and Activities Lots of them.
Great for these types of students Bible believing and those who want to grow in their Christian Faith.
Bang for the buck Quite expensive but education is worth it.
What to do for fun Sports, mountain climbing, cycling...the list is endless.
Food and Dining Great food and dining no doubt
Dorm Life The dorm life is great. You have an opportunity to meet and interact with very loving people.
Academic Rigor Its quite rigorous. You have to work hard here. Not for the lazy.
Tips for prospective students This is a great University to be in. If you are a Christian and want to mature in your intellect, faith and character, then search no further.
In three sentences A wonderful university on the East Coast.

Categories Comments Campus Safety The campus safety is great. They are constantly patrolling and they immediately respond to incidents.
Great for these types of students Students wanting to go into ministry or who are seeking to have a professional life as a pastor, teacher, businessman or woman, social worker, or more are great for this university. Cairn prepares students to enter into these careers and to be prepared to serve God through their careers as well, even if they are not strictly ministry majors.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus Each semester on finals week there is a night called 10th Hour Breakfast which is, essentially, breakfast at 10 pm on one night of finals week. The cafeteria is packed because basically all students attend this night.
What to do for fun There are lounges and common areas to hang out with friends and watch movies. The train station, which is in walking distance, is an easy way to get into Philadelphia and experience life there. There are many activities and stores around the area for students to take part in and visit.
Food and Dining The food is not the best, but there are good days! The best part is the sandwich line and the grill where you can have stir fry or sauteed pasta.
Dorm Life Dorm life is one of my favorite aspects of Cairn. Each of the 3 dorms each has a different environment and caters to different student personalities. There are many events and activities happening throughout the school year in all of the dorms.
Academic Rigor The school is definitely challenging with rigorous academics. They desire to prepare students to be well-educated and professional, and they stay true to that in the teaching at Cairn.
Tips for prospective students Make sure to contact your admissions counselor and do not be ashamed to ask many questions! Come and visit and ask students about their favorite part of campus life!
In three sentences Cairn University is a wonderful school that really does stay true to it's mission statement. It seeks to educate students to serve Christ in the church, society, and the world as biblically minded, well-educated, and professionally competent men and women of character. The school provides great teaching from a biblical standpoint and prepares you to take that knowledge and interact with the secular world.
