Categories Comments Tips for prospective students It's a great deal of work to attend a private university like CBU, but I guarantee that it is worth every dollar! Don't let the cost daunt you! If you're committed to going there and you trust in God's plan, anything can happen! Just remember-- always make sure you know when your deadlines are!

Categories Comments Great for these types of students Religious Serious about strengthening your walk with Christ Friendly
Tips for prospective students Visit the campus to make sure that you can see yourself there for the next four years. There is a program called 24@CBU for high school seniors in which you can stay at CBU for a day. You stay with current students, sit in on classes, and experience life as a CBU students. There are two opportunities to attend 24@CBU and they are both during first semester (Sept-Dec). Visit http://www.calbaptist.edu/24/ for more info. Apply for scholarships to help with the cost of the school.
Bang for the buck CBU is very expensive but do not let that deter you from the campus. There is plenty of financial aid available from the school. I encourage you to apply for scholarships and trust in God to provide for you. I feel that I get what I pay for at CBU. The campus is beautiful, the cafeteria food is amazing (I actually want to eat in the cafeteria), the professors are helpful, and the academics are great.
Am enjoying being here At CBU you are able to grow not only academically but spiritually. I love that in only four months of being at CBU, I have grown stronger in my walk with Christ. There is mandatory chapel. You must go to 15 out of 21 chapels a semester. If you miss one chapel you fail chapel and it negatively affects your GPA and if you pass then nothing happens, you do not get academic units and it does not help your GPA. I do not like that you receive nothing for passing chapel but I love the services so it does not bother me. The students at CBU are extremely friendly. It is basically impossible to not make friends. Overall, I am having fun at CBU and enjoying myself immensely.
Am learning a lot Two of my favorite things about California Baptist University are the class sizes and the professors. You will have small classes and will have the opportunity to get to know your professors. I have only been at CBU for a semester but my largest class was 114 students. This big of a class is rare (in fact there is only one classroom that seats this many students) and this class was only this big because it was Old Testament Survey, a class that most take to complete their required units for Christian Studies. The professors that I have had are nice and committed to helping their students.

Categories Comments Tips for prospective students Get involved with students around you! Sign up for activities if you schedule allows. Make sure you have time to study; many people neglect their studying and this can put you on the fast track to failing a class.
Bang for the buck This school is good, however, it is VERY expensive and I would make sure you have a budget outlined to see if you can afford it. Scholarships from this website can definitelly be a great help. That is the one thing that made it possible for me to attend this school.
Am enjoying being here There are a lot of activities that happen around the campus weekly. They are always encouraging students to get involved with the campus and community.
Am learning a lot One thing that is a definite plus about attending CBU is the teachers. They are constantly striving to help you succeed and will try to be there whenever you need them. They are very informative and you will hopefully, gain their knowledge.

Categories Comments Tips for prospective students Be prepared to study, write papers, and read more than you ever have before. Throughout my previous years in school I maintained a high grade point average, but I still have to work very hard to maintain such a high GPA in college. Do your best to get involved in at least one sport, club, or bible study group. The friendships, memories, and values you'll gain are life-changing and it will make you feel home away from home.
Bang for the buck I will admit that CBU is very expensive, but so is every other private university. The christian environment, caring professors, and lifelong friendships you'll make guarantee that the high cost of enrolling at CBU is truly worth every penny!
Am enjoying being here I am still amazed everyday at how much of a blessing it is to be attending CBU and to be able to live on campus. The faculty is so friendly and helpful. Even my professors truly care about my grade and they strive for me to succeed. The professors really care about you as a person and they are available to help with school or even things that aren't school-related. I love my school and I can't imagine being anywhere else!
Am learning a lot I have only completed one semester, but I have learned so much! Not only have I completed three general education classes, but two others that are specifically for my major as well!

Categories Comments Great for these types of students Religious. medium school close for southern cal.
Tips for prospective students Please visit CBU. You will experience something so different than other colleges. CBU is truly concentrated on your walk with Christ and isn't a school where they pretend they are Christians. They do walk with Christ.
Bang for the buck What i know,it is expensive, but the Counselors are truly committed to help you and with Financial aid. There's many Scholarships to apply to.
Will enjoy being here The Campus is great! Its so peaceful and everybody is always being friendly to one another. The Food is awesome, there's so much variety to choose from. The campus is very clean and makes you want to stay there all day. chapel is very energetic, worship is such a blessing.
Will learn a lot I went to the Spring Preview, and just in one day going to the class visit, i noticed so many things. the teachers are very friendly and they make their classes interesting. What i liked the most about their teaching was that they also talked spiritually about God and your major.

Categories Comments Campus Safety The Fiercest! they don't just lay down the law they tuck it in too!No segway cops here folks! just don't bring your bike! bike theft is the kryptonite of campus safety, but hey no ones perfect!
Greek Life No frats sorry, but tons of great clubs! Baking club for example............4:1 ratio!
Clubs and Activities This is where CBU really shines! From the creative writing club to the UFO exploration club?!(yes it does exist) there is something for everyone, and if none of the clubs seem to tickle your fancy just start your own its as easy as filing out a five question paper!
Great for these types of students Anyone really! The student body is exceptionally diverse, its like the UN! If you're tired of the boring routine or want to try a college experience unlike any other than CBU is the place for you! Hey that rhymes!
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus Ever heard of the tower of men? jk...well. CBU is literally overflowing with traditions from the annual forutuna flag football tournament(they had fireworks!) to the Lancer Cup soccer tournament and midnight madness (they gave away a wii and an ipad this year! who does that?) there is always something to celebrate at CBU. So till we meet I'll CBU later! ( I started that one!)
Bang for the buck Ok i know what you're thinking for $33,000 it better be an incredible experience , and don't worry it is. As far as housing and meal plans go it really is a pretty amazing deal. For only a little over $2,000 you can take advantage of brand new apartment housing for 4 months. that's only $500 a month for a new apartment! and if you apply to be an RA its free! As far as eating goes for about 1,500 you can purchase a 175 semester meal block plan with weekly rollover! All in all after factoring in all the award money you're bound to receive, and you will get some I only had a 2.5 high school GPA and they were still very generous, it really is quite affordable.
What to do for fun There are tons of fun things to do on campus at any given moment. I enjoy spending my free time playing Futsol(street soccer) with friends or having late night jam sessions with my band, or even just kicking back and watching a movie at amc with a 7$ ticket bought from campus life. Oh and did i mention that the mountians and beach are only 45 min away? Wooo! 4:1 ratio!
Food and Dining Out of every college campus that ive visited(and ive been to quite a few in my travels) none of them compare to CBU's usually top notch cusine. Just stay away from the sushi rolls, Scetchy!
Dorm Life Simply the best if you go into it with the right attitude. Your dorm experience is exactly what you choose to make it. Oh and DON'T GO HOME EVERY WEEKEND!
Academic Rigor Really depends on the classes and the program. Nursing and engineering programs are incredibly difficult and selective but everything else isn't too tough.
Tips for prospective students Maintain a GPA of at least 3.3 to be eligible for academic scholarships. They have rolling admission so you can apply at the last minute if you're in need of a school but apply early to take advantage of their generous financial awards.

Categories Comments Campus Safety CBU has an excellent Department of Public Safety, complete with an emergency text alert system and gates that require CBU student ID swipes to open them. They respond quickly and they can be called for a late-night ride across campus, which is especially great for the ladies.
Greek Life There is no Greek system on campus. There is just one, big community.
Clubs and Activities CBU has a great and competetive recreational sports department with open-sign-up teams that includes dodgeball, flag football, volleyball, soccer, and basketball. CBU has clubs for nearly every major. At the beginning of each academic year, CBU has a club fair for students to find out what is available and get involved.
Great for these types of students If you are an average student, or an exceptional one, CBU has something to offer you! If you are looking for a good balance of education and fun, CBU is a great option for you!
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus -CBU has a very unique pep rally called The Crazies. Nearly the entire student population dress up in their CBU Lancer best and gather in the gym. And the school spirit is on! -If you step on the school seal in the Yeager Courtyard, you have to run and kiss the class ring statue on the other side of the courtyard. Don't mess with the seal! -The Lovely Lady of Fortuna is a fountain along the front of the school... rumor has it she will bring you good fortune and luck. Alot of CBU couples go to Fortuna to make commitments to eachother, and often, to pop the question. Ring by Spring! -If you are in the Alumni Dining Commons, also known as the Caf, and you drop your tray, don't be surprised if the entire caf breaks into applause on your behalf. We all appreciate grace and poise! :)
Bang for the buck CBU is expensive, no doubt. But what you get for the price is worth it. Smaller class sizes, a close knit, community-oriented campus, and well-renowned majors make CBU a desirable college to attend. And guys, did I mention that the girl to guy ratio is 5:1?!
What to do for fun CBU is constantly putting on events. They truck in snow for Christmas, hire cool bands like The Daylights, have huge bonfires, go to pro baseball games, and 10,000 water balloons for a very wet fight. Our homecoming celebration this past fall included a full scale, 10 minute long firework show on the front lawn, just for us! They also have a great and competetive recreational sports department with open-sign-up teams that includes dodgeball, flag football, volleyball, soccer, and basketball. If you're looking for off campus fun, CBU is an equal distance to the mountains and the beach either direction (about 45 minutes to an hour). Nearby attractions include Disneyland, Knott's Berry Farm, Six Flags, Huntington Beach, Newport Beach, and various ski resorts in the mountains.
Food and Dining CBU's Alumni Dining Commons, aka the caf is a dining staple, even for those who do not attend CBU. The caf has multiple food stations that change every day. These include a full salad bar, fruit bar, waffle/breakfast bar, dessert bar, and six all-food stations. You need to visit to get the full effect! It's amazing!
Dorm Life The dorms separate girls and guys into separate living areas. But don't worry, they do a lot of mixer events so that everyone gets to interact. Campus housing includes dorms for two, on campus apartments for between 2 and 5 people, and small multi-room houses called the Cottages. The RA's are awesome and the up-keep is great!
Academic Rigor CBU is going to give you a great education with a global perspective. The school faculty is highly qualified and your success is important to them! Each professor has office hours available for help outside class. The academic workload is manageable. It is challenging in a good way!
Tips for prospective students CBU's most well known (and well respected) majors include Nursing, Engineering, Theology, Liberal Studies, Music, Theater, and Business. However, there are many, many more options. Look into the different majors and check out the Financial Aid Department. There are lots of sports, academic, and music scholarships available through the school. If you are interested in visiting, CBU hosts an event called 24 on campus several times a year. This is an opportunity for prospective students to visit the school, spend the night in the dorms with current students, and experience campus life. Check it out at www.calbaptist.edu
In three sentences CBU is the place to be if you are looking for a smaller, community-oriented, and serious academic school. CBU's motto is Live your purpose. If you don't know what your life purpose is yet, CBU might just be the place to discover it!

Categories Comments Great for these types of students Christians who want to grow closer to Christ People who enjoy a relaxed lifestyle and classroom setting
Tips for prospective students Work hard to get financial aid Ask God if this is where you should attend
Bang for the buck This is a very expensive school though not the most expensive. In order to attend you have to already have a lot of money or a lot of financial aid. Don't get in debt, but don't count yourself out. Apply and see how the Lord provides. It's worth it.
Am enjoying being here The campus environment is great. The weather and food are fantastic and the students and staff are extremely welcoming. Growth as an individual is a priority and it shows in the attitudes of the staff. Campus life is very laid back, but safe. It is really easy to get to know new people because of the accepting environment. The lifestyle promoted by the university is one in which God is first. This is reflected in the ease with which one can get connected to a Bible study, prayer team, or a church.
Am learning a lot Thus far CBU has not been all that academically challenging. Many of the lessons that I have learned have been spiritual in nature. The class in which I am learning the most would be my New Testament Survey class. As a student raised in the public school system I find it refreshing to be on a campus where the Bible can be studied, not just dismissed academically. I have not taken any higher level courses which will be harder. (I am in Biology- premed) CBU is a great bet academically for those who are entering Music, Nursing, Business, and especially Engineering.

Categories Comments Great for these types of students Those looking for an excellent Christ-centered education.
Tips for prospective students Make a campus visit! Ask to see the area where you would spend your time studying your prospective major (ex: engineering students, ask to see the engineering building). Ask questions about the campus and the atmosphere. Try to come for a wednesday or friday chapel: you won't be disappointed! Don't be scared by the financial figures... There is a ton of financial aid available.
Bang for the buck The overall tuition is pricey, but don't let that scare you. The financial aid is spectacular. The school itself has many scholarships to help you out, and what you do pay doesn't go unused. The campus is gorgeous, and you receive a great education while attending.
Am enjoying being here I absolutely love the atmosphere at CBU. Most everyone is friendly, and I have made many friends while on campus. Exhortation is something that is prevalent, and I am very thankful for that. The fact that the entire campus is biblically based is something I love. There is always the opportunity to grow in Jesus Christ, as well as to reach out to others through the community events and trips that occur.
Am learning a lot The academics here are fantastic! The largest class I had in my first semester was about 30 people. All of the professors are open and willing to help. You can always find a study session to attend, or if you prefer peace and quiet, the library is perfect. Even with just one semester completed, I have grown so much academically!

Categories Comments Great for these types of students -Friendly -Conservative -Those interested in Nursing -Those who like a small campus feel -Christian (denomination doesn't matter) -Those interested in international mission trip projects
Tips for prospective students As a freshman you have the option to live in a dorm or in a cottage. I lived in a cottage and loved it. There were 3 bathrooms in each cottage, as well as a full kitchen with a little living room area. My cottage-mates and I became like a family. Also, don't wait to talk to teachers and ask for help if you need it. Try to be as open as possible when making new friends.
Bang for the buck If you are looking into nursing, this school is a fantastic opportunity. The nursing students are dedicated and hardworking, and will likely find jobs immediately after graduation. I would recommend knowing exactly what you want to do with your education here before you become a student. If you have a plan for your college career, then I firmly believe that CBU can help you succeed. Look into getting as many scholarships you can!
Am enjoying being here I love this school. The campus is beautiful, the students here are friendly, and the overall feel of the campus is positive. It was incredibly easy to make friends here. I came to the school not knowing anyone, but when we got out for summer, I left campus sad to leave all my friends. The reason I put 4/5 stars is because of a few things I would like to change about the campus. I wish that there were more opportunities to get involved with student activities. I went on almost every single outdoors activity they offered (great weekend or day trips for a great price!) but you have to really be creative to have fun on campus all the time. Also the cafeteria has a few good meals, but not a lot of healthy options or opportunities for variety if you are constantly eating there.
Am learning a lot As a pre-nursing major, my academic course load was heavier than the average student. With this major, it is impossible not to learn something. The 4 unit science classes are intensive but fascinating. In my general education classes, such as English, Psychology, and Mandarin, the classes were easy and I did not learn as much. However, I based my rating off the science courses, because that is essential to understanding for my major. The teachers are available to help if you need it. All of my teachers have a passion for teaching and want their students to pass. This type of environment is positive and helped me immensely.

Clubs and Activities i have not participated in the clubs as of yet.
Great for these types of students they have a wonderful engineering department.
Bang for the buck living on my own has been a great experience. the staff and dorm residents genuinely care about you.
What to do for fun the freshman had an opportunity to participate in an olympics. it was lots of fun and you met a lot of people.
Food and Dining The food at cbu is amazing.
Dorm Life i love living in the dorm. it gives you the opportunity to meet new people.
Academic Rigor it is difficult but the support is great. there is an academic support center and tutoring available if necessary.
Tips for prospective students Take the time to visit the campus. Get involved so you can meet more people. Rely on your instructors. They are there to help you.
In three sentences i love how the general education courses are intergrated into the engineering department. the school helps you adjust to your new surrounding. the support with your classes is amazing.

Categories Comments Great for these types of students Students who enjoy smaller campuses and who want to grow not just academically but spiritually as well.
Tips for prospective students Live on campus if you can. Use the library and other resources to your advantage. Do not slack on your FOCUS assignments. Keep track of your chapel attendances.
Bang for the buck Although pricey, it is well worth your money. Unlike other universities in California, at CBU you are guaranteed to find classes for you major and you do not have to worry about your major being impacted. Also, at CBU you will be addressed by your name and not a number.
Am enjoying being here I love the campus. I love it so much I am trying to see if I can live on campus next year. Everybody is so friendly and the campus is beautiful and it is also very clean. Being on campus, you will feel welcomed and you can feel the amount of faith that surrounds you.
Am learning a lot The class rooms are small enough to get one-on-one time with the professor. All the professors have a strong grasp on the subject they are teaching and teach with a passion.

Categories Comments Great for these types of students EVERY ONE, especially those who are looking for a solid faith based education and interesting in serving and getting involved with campus activities.
Tips for prospective students You should definitely consider coming here however it is not for everyone. The expense, location, and majors may not be to your liking, but you should seriously consider coming here.
Bang for the buck It is relatively expensive to attend this University but they make up for it by offering a plethora of free actives, food, and t-shirts. Your money also goes towards a beautiful apartment, breath taking landscaping, and accredited professors.
Am enjoying being here CBU has such a beautiful and peaceful environment. Even though it is located in Southern California where its known to be fast passed, the campus is situated perfectly in Riverside where you're not isolated, yet not crowed. Their buildings and classrooms are all newly furbished and equipped with the necessary items to make your stay here pleasant. There are numerous amounts of opportunities here to get involved in and thrive. There's service opportunities, as well as fun events each month that unite you with the rest of the campus and specifically your living area.
Am learning a lot I am learning a lot of information here and the teachers do an excellent job of apply the new information with applicable examples as well as options for around the world. As you learn these new exciting things, you will also obtain a solid Biblical foundation. The class sizes are perfect and the professors are 100% willing to work with you. There are many other opportunities to learn and grow outside the class room like chapel twice a week, Christian Chapel, and other groups like that. It's a great place to come and learn

Tips for prospective students You do not have to be christian to come to the school and CBU has amazing academic programs. CBU is known for there nursing, music, engineering, and business programs. We also have a variety of other majors like theater, graphic design, and many more!
Bang for the buck It is a very expensive school, but they offer more scholarships and are more willing to work with you financially than state schools. In the end you are paying less then state schools. They give you a grant just for being a new or returning student!
Am enjoying being here The community of people are amazing. You can literally go up to anyone, introduce yourself, and you have a new friend automatically.
Am learning a lot I am in my third year attending CBU and I absolutely love it! The teachers are amazing and they are always available for you! They genuinely care about every single one of there students.

Categories Comments Great for these types of students California Baptist University is great for anyone and everyone. Although it is a baptist university, and holds faith in Jesus Christ being savior of this world, and is dedicated to fulfilling his commands, the school is very tolerant, and never tries to force their beliefs on anyone.
Tips for prospective students California Baptist University offers a wide range of majors and minors, and the students, classes, and professors are some of the best around, and it's rare having all of them in one place. The school is a bit expensive because it's a private university, but you are sure to enjoy it, and make many new friends and relationships.
Bang for the buck The facilities, classes, professors, food, student body, and the school itself are all fantastic. There are buildings that are still standing from when the school was founded in 1954, but they are all standing strong, and are diligently maintained. In addition to buildings that were there originally, California Baptist University has purchased much of the land around it, and continues making renovations on existing buildings, as well as recently built facilities, and buildings that are being constructed.
Am enjoying being here Everyone at California Baptist University is friendly, and being on campus is an experience you don't feel often. Everyone actually cares about you, individually. I love being there, and actually get a little sad when we have holidays, and have to leave campus.
Am learning a lot The professors at California Baptist University are dedicated to their jobs, and ensuring that you, as a student, are understanding and excelling in your studies. The small classes create a more in-depth classroom experience, and give the teacher more one-on-one time with each student individually.

Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus The campus is beautiful but outside of our gates the area is not very nice.
Bang for the buck Its great to come to school here, although it is not the college experience I thought it would be due to the lack of social groups and activities it tends to be tough to meet new people.
What to do for fun They have different events on campus, but there is not a big social life on campus.
Food and Dining Everything is so clean and they have a great diversity of food!
Dorm Life I live in an on campus apartment and love it, very clean and comfortable
Tips for prospective students look into as many scholarships and grants before attending, get as much help financial help as you can.
In three sentences This is a great school, professors are amazing and due everything they can to help you succeed. There are plenty of resources to help you get ahead and gain help. The only down fall is that this university is very expensive.

Categories Comments Campus Safety This university has panic buttons throughout the parking lot and during orientation, they tell you what number to call if you are ever in need of help or just want someone to walk you to your car at night. If anything mysterious happens, the office of public safety will email all students right away so they are informed of the situation and can take precautions.
Greek Life There isn't any greek life at this private Baptist university.
Clubs and Activities ASCBU plans all of the great activities I have talked about thus far. There are also many different clubs you can join. If you can't find a club that interests you, the university is very open for new ideas.
Great for these types of students This university is perfect for serious students who are interested in an education, not a party school. It is a baptist school and it is great for Christians who want to grow in their faith.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus We have the traditional Fortuna Bowl. This is a huge competition of flag football and it is a huge deal for our school. We also have Twirp week where the girls will ask a guy on a date and pay. Then later we have Woo week where the guy will ask the girl and pay. There is also a secret echo place by the flag poles that is really neat to find. Ask someone who has been there for a while to show you!
Bang for the buck This university is more expansive than some state colleges because it is a private university, but it is well worth it. I can see that my money is being put to good use and not wasted on useless things. I also get a good education out of it.
What to do for fun There are volleyball courts, a pool, baseball fields, and a wide open field to play soccer on or any other sports you may be interested in. The school plans many functions/activities throughout the year as well. They have activities like midnight madness, recess, and Fortuna, just to name a few fun events they plan.
Food and Dining There are many different dining experiences at this university. The main cafeteria has many different types of food to choose from so everyone can find something they like. If you want to meet with other commuters for a quick bite to eat, Wanda's is a perfect place to go. The new restaurant on campus named Briscos is fast and easy to go to on the run. They even have meals to go when you are running late to class.
Dorm Life I don't have experience living in the dorms because I am a commuter, but all of my friends that do live on campus absolutely love it and they feel as if they are at a home away from home. They feel comfortable and safe there.
Academic Rigor This university involves a lot of group projects. The professors have an open door policy so that if you don't understand something, they will make sure you understand it. There are many opportunities to go on missions or study abroad and learn about other cultures.
Tips for prospective students I would recommend saving money so they could live on campus so they can get the whole experience of college life. I also recommend that they concentrate on doing well in high school so they will be eligible for scholarships from the school. Once they are students here, I recommend that they get as involved in school activities as they can.
In three sentences California Baptist University is based on a Christian perspective that I agree with and appreciate. This university is a very friendly atmosphere and everyone is very helpful and caring. The professors actually take time to get to know you and actually show they care about you succeeding.

Bang for the buck very expensive because it is a private school. however, the facilities are very nice and so is the food.
Food and Dining cafeteria is all-you-can-eat and the food is great.
Dorm Life great on campus living. everything is close to each other such as dining, classes, and apartments.
Academic Rigor classes are easy but the programs are great and well-known.

Categories Comments Clubs and Activities there are not a lot of clubs, but enough if you are interested in making friends.
Great for these types of students it is definitely a good school for christian students. also good for just about anybody because everyone is friendly and accepting.
What to do for fun there are campus activities and of course things to do in town since riverside is such a big city.
Food and Dining it is good with plenty of variety and good quality food.
Dorm Life dorm life has been great in everyway. it can be a little quiet at times, but i am good with that because i am not use to a lot of partying anyway.
Academic Rigor i am an engineering major, but feel that the amount of time i am putting into my classes are reasonable and not a waste of time or just busy work by any means.
Tips for prospective students plan on living on campus if possible because the town of riverside is so big, you won't get a good college experience.
In three sentences i think it is a great college for just about anyone because it offers so much in a small college setting. there are plenty of majors to choose from at an affordable cost for a private school. also provides excellent opportunities for great social opportunities.

Categories Comments Food and Dining the food is definitely something to brag about. they offer a variety of delicious multicultural helpings from asian to italian to mexican food and a load of other choices for those with room for dessert. you'll never go hungry here but make sure you don't go overboard because that is all too easy.
Dorm Life housing is one of the strong points of this school. they make sure that the rooms and service are at their best and cleanest. the ras of the dorms are friendly and useful most of the time.
Academic Rigor rigor is not really encountered often in many of the classes. if the material does get to be a little challenging, many of the teachers tend to baby the students. good or bad depending on your preferred college experience.
Tips for prospective students make sure you visit first because the campus and the population is much smaller than you might think. admission isn't all that difficult so it might be a good safety school. if you care about your religion and want to be a part of a whole community that does so too this is the school for you.
In three sentences a christian school in every aspect. it keeps its curriculum bound to its principles. it also might be too autonomous or single flavored for some people.

Categories Comments Campus Safety 24 hour security patrols as well as rave alert that send updates via text.
Great for these types of students outgoing to quiet there is a place for everyone!
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus fortuna bowl is a flag football experience not to be missed. huge event with plenty of free food! what could be better? there is also a toms shoe event. twirp week is also fun! (kinda like sadie hawkins except the each day there is a some sort of event or date). woo week: like twirp but normal in that guys ask girls!
What to do for fun riverside (where cbu is located) is known for being about 45 minutes away from everything: the beach, mountains, disneyland, etc. riverside itself is a historic town with the mission inn, which is decorated with up to one million lights every christmas, as well as the historic orange groves. the university is also right down the street form harvest christian fellowship as well as many other church too. many also life to hike mount rubidoux, or you can go during the night for a more adventurous experience.
Food and Dining all i have to say is that one of the alumni dining commons food options is ' south western tilapia with habanero seasoning. there is also briscoes for late night or on the go eating as well as wanda's for those without a meal plan.
Dorm Life dorm life is great with many activities, as well as different housing arrangements catering to different living conditions. there are the traditional freshman dorms, the unique freshman cottages and village arrangements, as well as the upperclassmen housing in apartment style living in the colony or university place. if you want to get married there is also lancer arms.
Academic Rigor the classes here are great. they the teacher to student ratio is about 1:21 but it is actually a lot smaller if i might add. i had one class with only 6 students! and trust me that is awesome. it might depend on the major you are also, but so far i have had only one class that was somewhat large and that was a general education class that is popular on campus, it is called marine science.
Tips for prospective students get involved- plenty of programs such as fortuna bowl, twirp week, woo week, homecoming, and not to mention the countless community life events. bring a long board skate board or some type of personal transportation. put effort into getting the most of focus. this will really help you better understand college life and help you make new friends. get involved in isp. one of the greatest ways to stretch your faith! get to know your ra. they are there for you and make life away from home so much more easy. not to mention they are also awesome. when you run out of snacks, cereal or such, go to briscoes instead of the alumni dining commons to stock up on cereal and the like.
In three sentences california baptist university is un-apologetically christian and totally focused on the students finding their purpose in christ and using education to further that goal. it is a growing campus with state of the art programs and buildings to match. the overall feel of california baptist university is a small hometown, mixed with the professionalism of a college on the rise.

Categories Comments Campus Safety We ave a complete campus wide security team that values our students and faculties safety. This type of security can only be found at this top christian university.
Greek Life There isn't much Greek life but if there was, then they would love this University because of the vast types of Greek food that we serve in our cafe, delicious.
Clubs and Activities There are a multitude of clubs and activities. Just about every week I see and sometimes attend weekly soccer and sports events. These events are solely for fun and help build for the campus
Great for these types of students The University is great for those who want to succeed in whatever they put their mind to. Students who want to develop christian studies will also prosper on campus.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus There is a location on campus that considered the scare zone. This school was originally build on a cemetery and tradition says that at around midnight there is a place on campus where you can hear creepy sounds and noises.
Bang for the buck To tell the truth, the price is pretty high, but you have to take in count of what type of education and service you are getting out of an investment like that. You are going to receive only the top service and teacher faculty in the state.
What to do for fun There's a lot to do for fun for example, play volleyball or basketball. We are also about 20 minutes away from the mountains so its popular to go snowboarding when winter hit.
Food and Dining The food is what won me over upon attending this university. I can honestly say that the food served here is better than my mothers home cooking, and that is saying a lot!
Dorm Life The dorm life is phenomenal. My freshman year was one of the best times of my life. The intramural sports, late night movies, and crazy holidays, are all to look forward to.
Academic Rigor Cal Baptist is academically rigorous on the fact that professor compose their lectures on the highest quality of academic studies. Books, lectures, and essays, and exams are thoroughly evaluated on the highest scale to ensure our top quality status.
Tips for prospective students Just come into this school with an open mind, usually closed minded people tend to drop behind the crowd. Also just have fun, Cal Baptist is all about having fun and doing so in a Godly manor
In three sentences Cal Baptist University is a school for those who want to strive to be the best. Whether it be academically, athletically, or spiritually; Cal Baptist is the University to apply to. Live, laugh, and love is the philosophy that Cal Baptist tries to instill on its students.

Food and Dining The food is good, stop in at Wanda's for a bite to eat!
Dorm Life I haven't lived in the dorms, so I am unsure of dorm life. The on-campus and off-campus housing appears to be very clean, orderly, and well-protected.
Academic Rigor As with any university, the work is college-level, so be prepared to put in a lot of time reading and finishing papers and assignments.
In three sentences California Baptist University is a great private university in the heart of Riverside, CA. The small classes allow for one-on-one contact with professors, something you do not see in larger, public universities.

Clubs and Activities Many things to get involved in for all sorts of people, including the quiet and antisocial.
Great for these types of students Those who want a positive and moral college experience with tons of fun and activities.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus At CBU there is a floating granite globe called the kugel that represents Christ's Great Commission. CBU tradition calls for newly enrolled students to touch the kugel as they begin their educational experience at CBU and again on commencement day
Bang for the buck Higher education keeps increasing in cost and CBU is among the more expensive as it is private. The community, staff, professors, ammenities/perks, and education are well worth the cost. So many things are free and built into tuition!
What to do for fun There are constantly events going on at CBU that are super easy to get involved in with minimal pressure.
Food and Dining Fantastic and delicious food options!
Dorm Life I do not live in the dorms but I have heard it is a fun experience.

Greek Life none
Clubs and Activities Many clubs & activities all the time
Great for these types of students Great sports, nursing, education & engineering schools
Bang for the buck CBU is an awesome school, and a better price for tuition, room & board compared to other private schools. Great security, beautiful campus & very well contained & cared for.
What to do for fun Join one of the many clubs, hang out with professors, go to Disneyland, beach, mountains etc..
Food and Dining Food is awesome and the dining/caf has many choices. Sunday brunch is really good as well. Briscoe's has longer hours and Wanda's is great to grab drinks, snacks and meals as well.
Dorm Life If you are a student that needs a lot of quiet time for studying and reading it can be too loud at times. If you are very social you will enjoy it but hard to stay focused and study in your dorm room.
Academic Rigor It's not easy but then no college should be, you should always want to be challenged :)

Categories Comments Campus Safety I always feel safe on campus. There are always security guards monitoring students coming into school, leaving. Also really late at night too! Even at 2 a.m The security is never over bearing, but it is nice to know they are there.
Greek Life CBU does not participate in Frats and Sororities, but this school does not need them!
Clubs and Activities ASCBU, the student body committee is always planning different events. Including club fairs, trips to Disneyland, baseball games, and the beach.
Great for these types of students Anyone who wants to find a closer relationship with GOD or build one from scratch. CBU is very accepting of different religions. This university is a quiet and peaceful place. It has a very intimate feel to it.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus CBU has a first time freshman orientation class, called FOCUS. New freshman are randomly put into groups and during orientation week the FOCUS leaders help you get used to the campus. This is a semester mandatory class, and it well worth it! You meet great people and the FOCUS Olympics allows all FOCUS teams to compete against each other.
Bang for the buck CBU is one of the less expensive Private Christian Universities in California. Also it is cheaper than UC's. CBU tries their hardest not to raise tuition when under pressure by budget cuts.
What to do for fun CBU constantly has events on the Front Lawn. Just last week we had an event called recess they brought jump houses and cotton candy machines. CBU also have a game room full of different things to do and places to socialize. Also discount on movie tickets!
Food and Dining CBU is known for having one of the best dining commons. Endless food, that is always served fresh! You do not need to worry about food sitting out. They also have many options for students with different diabetic needs.
Dorm Life I am a commuter student, so I do not live on campus. I do have friends who do, and i visit them so often in the dorms. I think it is an amazing opportunity for those who can live on campus. It is one experience that you should not miss out on, you build friendships that will last for the rest of your life.
Academic Rigor The professors here are amazing. Some are easier than others, but their main goal is to help you succeed! Small class sizes makes it easy to get to know your professor which allows for better communication.
Tips for prospective students Keep your GPA up for the chance for scholarships from CBU. Have good test scores which can eliminate some GE classes that you would have to take.
In three sentences CBU has been one of the best experiences of my life. I have been able to meet great people and build long lasting friendships. Most of all CBU makes it easy to build your relationship with God.

Categories Comments What to do for fun Since the college is located near the center of Riverside it is 5 minutes from restaurants or shopping. the beach is only 35 minutes away, and there are indoor rock-climbing places in Riverside as well. Also the colleges academic club puts on events during the week for students to participate in. Has something for every type of student
Food and Dining Great variety. It is all catered food and changes daily. goes from sushi to home-cooked meals, has something everyone will enjoy.
Dorm Life I am currently not living in the dorms but from my fellow classmates they seem to enjoy it. the only negative i have heard was about the Internet bandwidth, but the college recently upgraded their system and since have heard nothing bad about it.
Academic Rigor It really depends on the program your studying. Newer programs like engineering and construction management you should expect them to be tougher just because the college is trying to make its mark in the field.
Tips for prospective students Have a plan for the degree you want to go for. even though it may change based on your experience in different classes, it will limit the amount of time you spend here and ultimately the amount of tuition you have to spend.
In three sentences Great campus. clean and well-maintained. the college is still small enough that you can walk across campus in 5 minutes yet is big enough where everyone's not in your business

Categories Comments Campus Safety The campus security guards are ALWAYS driving around in their golf carts keeping watch over the campus, day and night. If there is a time where you don't feel comfortable walking across campus, there are these long blue boxes scattered around the campus and on them they say Emergency. If you hit the blue bottom, one of the security guards will come around and pick you up and take you to where you need to go, safely and efficiently.
Greek Life Due to the fact that we are a private, Christian university we do not partake in the involvement of sororities and fraternities.
Clubs and Activities There are a plethora of clubs, activities, and leadership roles to become involved in, you will never have to worry about not being involved in some way or another. Student Government (ASCBU), office of residence life (RA'S and admission hosts), community life, cooking club, Spanish club, fitness club, and many more. :)
Great for these types of students CBU is big on accepting and welcoming international students. There is a whole club/group dedicated just to international students to help them get acquainted with the school and feel comfortable and welcome. Office of International Life. CBU has students from everywhere including Rwanda, China, Germany, Asia, Australia, the Dominican Republic, etc. CBU is also a great place to be if you would like to strengthen your relationship with God, and/or are very big on worshiping God.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus We have this event at the beginning of the year called TWIRP, and it stands for the woman is required to pay. For one whole week, the school hosts these different event and the girl has to ask the girl to go with her. This past year for TWIRP they had a free Tyler Ward concert, a barn dance at a real barn dancing area, a bbq with where TK burgers catered, and on Saturday we went to Knott's Berry Farm and tickets were only $15, and much more.
Bang for the buck CBU is an expensive school from the start but as the year goes on, you can see where all your money is going. CBU offers free tutoring all week in every subject (this has been a BIG HELP for me in chemistry), free t-shirts at least twice a month for different events, a free game room to take a break from the stresses of school, a computer lab with about 30 to 40 with unlimited computer access for current students, and also the student government office offers free printing/copying services, free scantrons, a variety of school supplies, and free candy. :)
What to do for fun There is a mile about 4 miles down the street from the school called Tyler Mall, and that is where a lot of the students like to go. Another popular thing that a lot of students do is go hiking, there is a paved hike trail at Mount Rubidoux, about 15 minutes away. I have never been hiking in my life and I went there this past year and absolutely loved it.
Food and Dining The food at CBU is outstanding and you have so much to choose from. One of my favorite parts about the food and dining is the richness and quality taste of the soups and deserts.
Dorm Life I just completed my freshman year and I lived in the dorms. I loved living in the dorms, they provide an awesome sense of community and a way to be involved in all that is taking place. CBU residence life pairs the roommates very well, and a lot of people are perfect matches with their roommate. In the dorms, you become very close with your hall mates and it feels like family.
Academic Rigor I feel like my classes really challenge me and make me think. The teachers are also very helpful, and you are able to have a connection with them.
Tips for prospective students For prospective students, I would say just keep your hearts open to all that CBU has to offer. It may seem like a small school but they are constantly growing as this year our freshman class was the biggest class yet with more than 800 students. The school only has about 4,500 students but that is what makes it special is having a smaller population to keep it personal. PLEASE, PLEASE don't look make a decision based off the price of the tuition. CBU offers a good amount of financial aid, and don't forget about your FAFSA and other scholarships. :) God has provided for me and if it wasn't for him making a way, I would not be able to afford attending CBU.
In three sentences CBU is a safe and secure campus, as public safety is always driving around to keep watch. CBU provides a warm, friendly campus atmosphere and everyone will make you feel welcomed, as it is also centered around Christ. :) The education at CBU is outstanding, and you have that opportunity to have a teacher-student relationship with your teacher where they can really get to know you.

Categories Comments Campus Safety Public safety if constantly patrolling the campus. CBU is called The Bubble because it is so safe and protected.
Greek Life There are no sororities at CBU.
Clubs and Activities There are so many different clubs! There is the math club, anthropology club, health science club, workout club, and film club just to name a few. And if there isn't a club for you, you can always create your own!
Great for these types of students CBU is for students who want to be able to get classes when they need them, for students who want to graduate on time, have fun without all the partying, grow in their faith, and of course, learn.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus There is a seal located on campus, and you are never to walk on it! Also, there are catacombs underneath one of the main building of the school, the building is supposedly haunted. You can get onto the roof of the James building, which is a pretty cool hideout on a stressful night.
Bang for the buck It is rather expensive, because it is a private school, BUT, you will never have any problem getting classes, because CBU is not over crowded like also all state schools are. The activities that CBU has are well planned and usually include food, and free t-shirts. The price is high, but the experience, classes, professors, and events make it worth it.
What to do for fun Disneyland and the beach are two things that many of us CBU students do for fun. There are a few line dancing clubs around, which may not sound like fun, but it really is. Also CBU has activities going on on campus all of the time.
Food and Dining Best college cafeteria food ever. Sunday brunch is to die for. People actually come from off campus to eat in out cafeteria. There is also a restaurant called Briscios that offers sandwiches, and salads. There is a new restaurant opening fall 2012 that is going to offer different types of pasta. All of these are options that use the meal plan.
Dorm Life I loved the dorms. They are small and simple, like most dorms, but they are great. The girls and guys live in separate buildings, and there are designated visiting hours. Not having guys in the dorms is great, there is so much less to worry about.
Academic Rigor It is college, so obviously it is difficult, but compared to some other schools, I would say it is a bit easier.
Tips for prospective students For new freshman, live in the dorms your first year, not the cottages, the dorms have a great sense of community and it is a great way to make strong relationships with the girls you are going to spend the rest of you college life with.
In three sentences This is a great schoo for people looking for a Party- Free enviorment. There are always classes available, and the professors are all very gracious understanding people. It is a place for people of all religions, but if you are a Christian wanting to grow in your faith it is also an amazing place to do so.

Categories Comments Campus Safety Campus Safety is great, I was never worried about anything happening to me while on campus.
Clubs and Activities There are many clubs, events and inter mural sports to get involved in at CBU and they are all fun and you hear a lot about them.
Great for these types of students CBU is great for students who want to be at a smaller college but still feel like they meet new people everyday. It's also great for students who want to grow in their faith.
What to do for fun I went to the beach, amusement parks, the movies and the mall all the time with my friends, it's all in reasonable distance from school.
Food and Dining Between the ADC and Briscos there is a good food selection and sometimes you get tired of it but that comes with any food you eat for an extended period of time. But it is good food.
Dorm Life I lived in the dorms my freshman year and loved it. It helped me to connect with people on my campus and some of the girls that I lived with on my hall are my best friends now and will be for a long time.
Academic Rigor I am a psychology major and so far I am loving my major and the department and all of my professors. It's a good amount of work but its rewarding.
Tips for prospective students If your looking to go to California Baptist University I would recommend getting great grades so that you are able to pay for school because it is a little pricey but its worth it.
In three sentences I love CalBaptist and I wouldn't go anywhere else to complete my schooling. I have made great connections, friendships and grown closer to God. It's a great school.

Categories Comments Campus Safety There is alot of campus security always around and always there when you need them.
Great for these types of students It's great for all types of people. There is something for everyone.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus Here at CBU we have the crazies, which is a small group that show the most school spirit. They go to all the sports events and other things around school, and they get paid for it!
What to do for fun There is always events going on at school. Whether they are sports events or community life events created to bring students together. This school is so much fun; you can never be bored.
Tips for prospective students Do not only look at the tuition cost; the price to go here is well worth it.
In three sentences I absolutely love and adore my school; the curriculum is all alined perfectly with biblical principles. The professors are all hand selected, amazing teachers that provide lots of help and guidance to their students; the professors want to see their students succeed. My school is amazing and it is a calling directly from God to attend such a school.

What to do for fun CBU is pretty close to everything. Mt. HIgh for snowboarding, the beac and also hiking.
Food and Dining food is awesome. a lot better then other schools
Dorm Life a really great community
Academic Rigor not that hard to do well here because the teachers really care about you and want you to do well.
Tips for prospective students Be prepared to be distracted by all the fun events that go on on campus!

Categories Comments Campus Safety Campus safety is present everywhere and at all times on campus. Students should feel very safe while on-campus. The campus safety escort system is a little slow to action though.
Clubs and Activities There is just about every club you could possibly imagine on the campus of CBU. They are a great place to meet people with similar interests and have a good time!
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus Woo fest, March Madness and the Man Auction are all great traditions and so much fun to participate in!
Bang for the buck CBU is significantly overpriced. Although students are frequently given the opportunity to attend free events, and provided with a beautiful campus CBU is not worth the amount you pay.
What to do for fun On-campus there are frequent events that can be a lot of fun if you apply yourself. Attending sporting events, participating in intramural sports or going for a swim in the pool can all be great entertainment.
Food and Dining The food at California Baptist is incredible! Students have a variety of on-campus dining areas to chose from that are each filled with fresh delicious foods.
Dorm Life The dorms are a great place to meet new friends but the actual rooms are terrible. Cockroaches are often seen in dorms and the are frequent problems with the plumbing.
Academic Rigor The upper division classes can be very challenging. The professors are very professional and have high expectations for their students. If you are just taking basic general education courses you have no need to worry, they are incredibly easy.
Tips for prospective students California Baptist is a great school to attend, just don't enter it with incredibly high expectations. There are a lot of on campus events so be sure to attend them and get involved, this makes settling in and finding friends much easier.
In three sentences California Baptist University has a beautiful campus filled with wonderful people but fails to live up to it's name as a Baptist school. Professors are very welcoming and friendly but few students share the staff's religious beliefs.

Categories Comments What to do for fun There are several activities, clubs, and sports games to get involved in at CBU that having something to do for fun is not a problem at all. There are open fields to play football or soccer on, as well as the school will host carnivals and bonfires. CBU is also not far away from the beach or the mall and movie theater.
Food and Dining CBU has one of the best foods and dining areas than any college I have visited! There are several food places on campus that are available for students to eat at, and there is a variety of food offered. The food at school is served in a clean and organized structure as well.
Dorm Life Living in the dorms is an absolutely, life-changing experience. The Resident Advisers are chosen very wisely and connect so well with their residents. There is no better community than the bonds formed with those you meet and live with.
Academic Rigor There are so many opportunities given to students that will help them keep their grades on a high. Professors have office hours and are very flexible, there is a library and computer lab available on campus, tutoring sessions, and plenty of curricular activities that students can engage in. The Professors at CBU want their students to do well, so they are very personal and flexible with their time.
Tips for prospective students Tips for prospective students would be to actually want to become a part of the school. Go to the school events, the sports game, and participate in whatever you can. Students and staff do want to get to know you as an individual, so give them an opportunity to!
In three sentences CBU is an amazing school with amazing staff and faculty. The people here truly make this campus beautiful and a place to call home. At CBU, you aren't just a number, but a face, and you are truly cared about as an individual and inspired to start living your purpose.

Categories Comments Campus Safety The Campus Safety people are the greatest people you'll ever meet. They are so nice and helpful that from time to time they'll even ask if you need prayer for anything it's the sweetest thing ever.
Clubs and Activities CBU offers many clubs and activities for everyone from recreational sports to music or even just starting a small bible study group with a bunch of your friends.
Great for these types of students CBU has MANY majors to offer I believe we have over 90 majors and minors to offer. We're one of the very few Christian Universities that has an Engineering department.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus There are many traditions that CBU has that are fun. TWIRP week has been around for a while and it stands for The Women Is Required To Pay. It is a week where the girls ask the guys on dates, but you have to be creative in the way you ask them and of course as tradition says, the women HAS to pay. There is another tradition like this were it's the guys who have to try and woo a lady of there choice in a creative manner as well and it's called Woo Week. For those of you not sure about CBU but want to check it out, the school does this event called 24@CBU where you can tour the campus for a day and even spend the night in one of the dorms and get the full CBU experience.
Bang for the buck I love this school. I can say I am truly blessed that I can attend a school like CBU. I just finished my first year there and let me tell you, it was truly a great first year experience! I feel as though you really grow at that school not just educationally, but spirituality as well. You meet a lot of great people on campus and the school really does stick to it's motto of Live your Purpose. It is a great school and anyone interested in attending should look it up.
What to do for fun There's A LOT you could do for fun. The school holds many activities and events for everyone to participate in.
Tips for prospective students If you're thinking of attending a great college and meet some of the greatest people ever, then you should look into CBU. It is a wonderful college with great professors and the best part is you won't be judge whether you're a believer or not. This school is very welcoming.
In three sentences This school definitely helps me expand in my education more. Not only are the professors are friendly, but the school as well has a great atmosphere. This school really does want you to Live your Purpose.

Categories Comments Campus Safety The campus safety at CBU is unbelievably excellent. Security officers will even come assist students at any time of night to give them rides to their prospective living areas. Emergency buttons are placed in strategic areas around campus that will assure the person sending the alert that help is on its way.
Clubs and Activities There are many different clubs available at Cal Baptist that enable students to learn, along with their fellow students and professors, on the subject of what they are passionate about through discussions and hands on activities. The academic clubs also often allow students to work with professionals in their field so that they can be better prepared for entering the work force. Clubs catered to more leisurely activities such as the cooking club also allow for fellowship while learning fun cooking ideas. Activities offered at CBU are, intramural sports, Christian Challenge meetings, and on campus concerts.
Great for these types of students This University is wonderful for a student who enjoys learning about their selected field, while having an incredible community environment and countless student activities to participate in on a daily basis. Students who want to grow and develop as individuals and understand more about how they play into the picture of this world will enjoy the many opportunities provided. Those who want to grow in their faith in Christ, or even learn more about Him and how to integrate Christian principles into one's lifestyle will love this school.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus We have a Great Commission globe at the front of the school that students touch before leaving on service projects, at the time of arriving at school, and the day of graduation. We also have a fountain called Fortuna and she is a goddess that was placed there before the University existed. Our annual intramural football game is named after her. We also have a tradition not to walk on the seal of our school in Stamps Court Yard in order to preserve lancer pride.
Bang for the buck CBU is an expensive school to attend, but you really do get bang for the buck. The experience of being a college student here will be irreplaceable. Students will learn more about themselves and how they can make a difference in their work places and community through a Christian perspective. Students at Cal Baptist will learn so much about their chosen field and be prepared to enter the work force when finished with their education.
What to do for fun Because CBU is only about an hour or so away from the mountains or the beach, many fun activities are available to a student. Surfing, snowboarding, and hiking are very popular among students here. We also have a great game room with a pool table, foosball, and ping pong. Our school also offers great intramural sports like volleyball, flag football, and basketball.
Food and Dining Our Alumni Dining Commons is an amazing place to dine because we have so many options to pick from. There are usually five different options for a main course, a salad bar, ice cream, fountain drinks, a waffle maker, and other deserts. Our Sunday brunch is the best and people from the community come to our dining area just to eat our delicious food. CBU also offers food on-the-go at a restaurant called Brisco's. Here, students are able to grab a sandwich, salad, or other boxed meals to go or to eat with friends at a nice outdoor/indoor area. Night time snacks can also be purchased here through the meal plans and can be enjoyed by a community building fire pit.
Dorm Life Dorm life is wonderful at CBU. Hall events and dinners with those who live near you help create a great community for all. The residential advisors even take your schedule, desired areas of study, and sport involvement into consideration for roommate selection. The RAs on staff are always very helpful, responsible and set a great example for the freshman that live in the dorms. They can be contacted at any time and are always ready to be of help. After the freshman year, students live in apartments on campus which also offer a wonderful community environment. Events like coffee houses or worship nights help to bring the student body closer together. Friends are very easy to make at CBU and most people are very welcoming and inclusive.
Academic Rigor Our school is challenging academically, but not so much that one does not have a social life. Our teachers grade fairly and are very interested in being a key part in a student's success in life. They care about students as individuals and because our classes are not too big, students have personal attention for questions they may have for their teacher. If one applies themselves here, they will likely succeed.
Tips for prospective students I would tell a prospective student to explore our Music Program because many opportunities are given through it such as performing weekly for the community through one of our touring large choirs or vocal small groups. I would also encourage anyone to seek out our International Service Projects which provide opportunities for students to help the less fortunate in other nations and be a blessing to them. Also, our school offers a major for almost any area of study desired. In addition, our athletic program is thriving in the NCAA division.
In three sentences California Baptist University will exceed any student's expectations in so many areas. It offers many opportunities for growth in countless areas of study, preparing all for the work force they will soon be a part of. The campus is very beautiful and its location caters to many exciting activities.

Categories Comments Campus Safety The security group does a pretty great job, making sure that everyone on campus is legitimately there with an appropriate purpose. I've always felt safe and comfortable on campus.
Greek Life Nonexistent.
Clubs and Activities So many to list so the predominant few are thus: choir (of any kind), theater, intramural sports, random campus games and the occasional happenings sponsored by the school.
Great for these types of students Christian founded students. Students that either already enjoy or desire a place that supports a very strong, close-knit community feel.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus Many: Fortuna Fountain, The Seal outside of Wanda's, The Kugel at the entrance, the front lawn is important. There are the volleyball courts. Fortuna Bowl is the flag football championship, and it's HUGE, as the school has no football team. An In-N-Out truck comes out and helps. We also have a TWIRP (The Woman Is Required To Pay) week, a woo week (the reverse of TWIRP), and other special weeks that happen.
Bang for the buck I sometimes wish that I was witnessing certain changes for the better along with my money, but the raises lately haven't been completely justified.
What to do for fun Attend any school sanctioned events! Attend sporting events, where the school spirit is high. Feel your competitive edge come out in intramural sports. Go to a local choir concert and have a nice time with the gospel music! Hang out at Brisco's or a friends apartment on campus. Blow some steam on the beach volleyball courts. Go sit on the front lawn and play catch or enjoy the sun. The game room is free and full of fun. Just enjoy the entire campus!
Food and Dining To be honest, almost no other college would even receive a 3 star rating by my standards. CBU does work really hard on making their food top quality with the food company Provider. However, the food becomes quite routine with little variance, so try not to get caught in the rut.
Dorm Life Campus life in general is wonderful. The dorms arrange a lot of activities for people to participate in, almost on a weekly basis at least! Furthermore, the entire campus and residents are constantly invited to different events and activities that are pretty fun! Main beef is with the visiting hours curfew. Though I believe some regulation is appropriate, it's borderline legalistic.
Academic Rigor I do know that many students get by with easy work (in my opinion) and get relatively nice grades. However, there are a few incredibly difficult and legitimate classes that I have either been in, or watched my friends struggle through.
Tips for prospective students When dealing with the registrar's red tape always talk to department heads and administration first. For me, though they can help sometimes, the registrar is a last resort. Additionally, don't make the assumption that Student Accounts and Financial Aid are the same department with two heads. They are located adjacent, but separated in function and power. Don't step on the seal ever, and make sure that you eat at Brisco's more often than in the cafeteria. It will save you from gaining a bit of unwanted weight. Trust me, the ADC (caf) can add many undesirable calories. Lastly, with a longboard, make sure to keep it on you at all times!
In three sentences California Baptist University is a school that takes a lot of pride in being excellent at everything that it has control over. This ranges from academics to athletics and everything in between. However, the greatest thing about CBU is the focus on community life here; I've never been to another school that's comparable in student life affairs!

Categories Comments Campus Safety Campus Safety is highly enforced. 24-hour security is provided and can be accessed reasonably (incident reporting, faulty-service report, and limited student care).
Greek Life There are no sororities or fraternities.
Clubs and Activities Activities involving Christian-related or entertaining habits are around 85% of the time.
Great for these types of students Christian-inspired, career-goal basis, life-seeking, work-driven
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus TWIRP Week (The Woman Is Required to Pay); see the Fun section about the dating topic. Homecoming Block party night; there is a giant bonfire set by a trebuchet-launched fireball into the pit.
Bang for the buck This is a private school, so it will be very expensive. However, take advantage of what you pay for. Every student service is there for your beneficiary (academic, recreational, and spiritual).
What to do for fun The recreational center always provides discounted tickets for a couple of theme parks, theaters, and sport games. It does have some board and table games; ping-pong is most popular. Intramural sports are scheduled every year; soccer, football, volleyball, and basketball. Also, I'll make it sound cheesy but respectable dating time is available, if the guys are chosen. Yes, ladies, you will be the ones to provide the dating game. It's still fun though. And there are other local activities outside of campus; of course at a price. Recommend Downtown Riverside during Christmas.
Food and Dining The main dining center might not have the finest quality of food but variety is served. There is a sub-station for quick-ordered meals, too. Just be careful not to gain so much weight because of either services.
Dorm Life Like I mentioned, try to keep your housing clean, especially if your housing is an apartment. They are cozy, except for the beds, unless you're super exhausted. Housing activities are very housewarming and fun; sometimes a bit corny.
Academic Rigor Many of the programs are tough, especially the math-/science-related courses. However, the professors have a bit of leniency if you notify reasonably. Studying hours are recommended when the courses seem easy, but you will see the difficulty at the end of the course.
Tips for prospective students Accumulate in funds as much as possible; it's like a typical private school when business is mentioned. In other words, tuition is crazy!! The fall semester is extremely hot at first, but gets colder in the Thanksgiving time frame, so pack for both seasons. Keep your housing clean as much as possible because there are surprise inspections during the school year quarters by RDs. Enjoy and take advantage of all the school's activities and student recreational facilities; they are worth your buck. Be active in your spiritual walk; there are always groups there to help you there. Future engineering students, drink a lot of coffee!!!
In three sentences If you want to be spiritually active, academically and biblically intellectual, and relaxed when stress from work and courses accumulates, CBU is an outstanding school able to build these personal standards. It is a God-balanced environment w/o the isolation of the outside; an interest of providing help/aid to the outside.

What to do for fun There always the movies option, the mall, you can head down to Disneyland, go to Angel games, Dodger games, there is bowling, rock climbing, some hiking locations.
Food and Dining The best cafe in Riverside they have basically all kinds of food and other people who don't even know about the school will know the cafe.
Dorm Life There is always stuff going on and just a cool place to hang out with friends or just relax when you want to.
Academic Rigor The work here is very reasonable and teaches you much it will be just like any other universities doing work.
Tips for prospective students Just be yourself here no one here is here to judge you but to accept you in a Christian way. This place is great for those not a Christian already and especially for those who are already Christians.

Categories Comments Campus Safety They are on top of things on campus and usually not to overboard or petty.
Greek Life Does not expand much further than the Fortuna fountain.
Clubs and Activities There are alot of different clubs to join, I personally am apart of the Criminal Justice and Psychology clubs.
Great for these types of students Great for Christians, or anyone who is looking for a smaller, warm and friendly campus.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus The CBU crazies march during homecoming, there are several cool spots too! For example, there is the fortuna fountain, the catacombs( unfortunately you cannot go down in them) and the front lawn in general is nice.
Bang for the buck It has been one of the best life experiences I have ever had, and has helped to bring me to being more independent and to strengthen my faith walk.
What to do for fun On campus there is plenty of open areas, clubs to join, intramural sports , a pool and a gym open to students. Off campus there is rock climbing, movie theatres and a fairly nice mall nearby. There is also the beach and Disneyland in under an hour drive.
Food and Dining The cafeteria is topnotch, there is also a cafe and 2 grab and go type eating areas.
Dorm Life The dorms and apartments are a little older but are pretty well maintained. The RA's and RD's are all awesome, they pour a lot of time and effort into having an impact on their residents.
Academic Rigor The homework load is probably about average, they will keep you busy but will not overwhelm you with busywork.
Tips for prospective students Get connected, I'd suggest living on campus at least for the first year or two, it is a great experience and helps to get connected so much better.
In three sentences After 4 years I still love going here. The professors are all above and beyond in their teaching, inside and outside of the classroom. The student body is growing rapidly but it is still a wonderful campus, you become connected and can run in to familiar people everywhere.

Categories Comments Campus Safety Theft is not uncommon in these parts, and Riverside is not the safest area. Walking around on campus, you should be fine, because of the patrol and lighting, but just outside of the school's oasis is an unsafe area to watch out for.
Greek Life None.

What to do for fun Swing dancing, beach trips, Disneyland, attend school events, go to Downtown Riverside, visit Mt. Rubidoux (but don't leave your car unattended for too long, the area is known for theft).
Food and Dining CBU is known for their great cafeteria!
Tips for prospective students Watch out for the Admissions, Student Accounts, and Financial Aid offices. The influx of students is overflowing their offices and making contact very difficult.

Bang for the buck It is a very expensive school but the education you receive is well worth it, along with the great experience.

Categories Comments Campus Safety The campus safety is great because they have many securities going around the parking lot. They also provide with emails that inform us important events or news that might be going on in the school.
Greek Life I have not looked into the Greek life yet, and I am not sure if they have any type of sorority groups yet.
Clubs and Activities There are various clubs that you can attend that even provide trips to different countries, and if they like to trouble this would be a great experience for them.
Great for these types of students I believe that this school is great for students who want to attend a school close to home if you live around Riverside, as well as for students that do not want to attend a big school. This school is also great for students that have very big christian beliefs because the classes are based of christian studies.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus This school is a private school so we have to attend a church ceremony two days per week and it is no units, but if you do not attend the church then you will most likely fail the semester.
What to do for fun I believe that getting into the clubs in this school would be where all the fun is concentrated in as well as meeting new students and making friends.
Food and Dining The food there is amazing, and everything is very neat. If you love food you will love this school because it has great food.
Dorm Life I will not be living in the dorm, but the dorms are beautiful and very clean.
Academic Rigor I haven't taken any classes yet, but I hope the courses are not too difficult and that the teachers can be able to get all the knowledge to u that we will need in the future.
Tips for prospective students Some tips for prospective students is to never give up, to keep moving forward towards your dreams no matter how hard you believe them to be. I believe that giving up is the worst thing anyone can do. Also don't to be nervous about a new school because it will be okay and all the staff is helpful and friendly.
In three sentences The staff in this school is very helpful. The school is one of the most beautiful campus I have attended. It is a very diverse school which I believe is great.

Categories Comments Bang for the buck Yes, it's expensive at about $17,000/semester, but the campus is beautiful and the environment is unlike anything you will experience anywhere else. It's worth every penny.
What to do for fun CBU is located about 40 mins from Disneyland, 1 hour from the beach and 1 hour from the mountains. Plus, downtown is only 10 mins and there are always activities happening on-campus, from the game room to sporting events to coffee and music nights outside our cafe.
Food and Dining We have the best Alumni Dining Commons with a full salad bar, cereal, waffle irons, ice cream, soda fountains and 4-6 different entrees to choose from each meal. The best part, there is always pizza and everything is buffet style!
Dorm Life While they can sometimes be loud, the freshman dorms are a great experience with close commradery and plenty of fun activities to keep you busy! Apartments for upper-classmen are nice though. It's a chance to start living more independently.
Academic Rigor While there are some professors who really push the students, often times there are complaints made that the competition is not fierce enough.
In three sentences California Baptist University has, by far, the most welcoming and interactive community. The campus is beautiful, the professors are personal and the things you learn are PRICELESS.

Categories Comments What to do for fun It all depends on what the students likes to do in their free time. Downtown Riverside is a great place to explore for the student on a budget. If they plan to stay on campus, there is a basketball court, beach volleyball court, and a fitness center.
Food and Dining Cal Baptist has one of the best cafeterias in the state. The food is absolutely divine and there are many options for the students to choose from.
Dorm Life Dorm Life is great! For freshman there are 2 options for housing; the dorms and the cottages. Both are really community oriented and fun to live in. It's the best way to make instant friends.
Academic Rigor The work from classes is not too difficult. It all really depends on a student's study habits and how well they pay attention in class.
Tips for prospective students Though CBU is a great school, it is very expensive. Make sure you apply for all the scholarships and financial aid you can. It will be worth it when attend and graduate from this excellent school in a maximum of five years.
In three sentences Cal Baptist University is an amazing private university that focuses on not only academics but helping their students further their walk with Christ. Bang for the buck I come from a humble family, living in a mobile home park with little money so when it came to tuition cost i was petrified. It is very expensive but if you gather enough grants and scholarships you can cover all of your expenses. The school offers plenty of scholarships for you and their own grant but it is worth every dollar out of my pocket.
Food and Dining The campus has an amazingly delicious dining hall. It exceeded my expectations. I only have one word for their dining hall, heaven.
Academic Rigor Even though i have not started my freshman year here, i have understood from alumni's that its a challenge but in a positive way. California Baptist makes sure to prepare you by the time your out.

Greek Life None
Great for these types of students ANY type of student will fit in here, except really mean ones that are anti-social. You are encouraged to get involved and socialize all the time. By the end of 1st semester you'll be transformed... Promise!! :)
Bang for the buck CBU is definitely expensive, but the education you receive is priceless. You definitely have to seek Scholarships and financial aid. Counselors a re very helpful in this area. Create a budget.
What to do for fun Fun is what you make of it. Get out and socialize with others and attend the sporting events. A good game of Volleyball or a Scavenger hunt always made life fun. You can go to the mall or grab a movie too.
Food and Dining The food is good, but a little repetative in the Dining Hall. Brisco's and Wanda's are great choices.
Dorm Life Living in the Cottages was a great experience. Looking forward to the Colony life.
Academic Rigor There's never a dull moment with assignments. Study groups are a great asset in getting through the classes. The professors are good to explain the assignemnts and respond to questions. You will definitely have plenty to do.
Tips for prospective students Apply yourself. Don't take the easy classes to get a good grade, challenege yourself to prepare for waht's to come. Profect your study skills. Attend the 24@CBU event or make sure you visit. This was the deciding factor for me.

Categories Comments Campus Safety We have great campus safety. We constantly have patrol out by our cars and we always feel safe. So many people are here to look after the students.
Clubs and Activities We have a huge Biology club and the teacher who runs it is so great. Dr. Koo is the most fun loving teacher I have ever met and that says a lot coming from me because my mom is a teacher herself. The Biology club helps out future doctors and the steps it takes for us to get into medical school. We have no school dances but we do have a lot of fun activities. Every week there is some new event ready to swing into action and we always practically get a free T-shirt.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus On your first year there we have this tradition of running through a big crowd and touching the world globe. Another tradition we have is not to catch eyes with a statue by the Art building. If you look into the statues eyes then you will put bad luck on yourself.
What to do for fun There is always a new event every week at Cal Baptist and you can enjoy every minute of it. They are well known for there freshmen orientation and all the fun games.
Food and Dining Get ready to have your taste buds just explode. There buffet is just incredible and and a fair price. Great smiling faculty and the tables are always clean.
Dorm Life You don't get paired with just any random student but a student the same sex as you and they have the same major. It's time to mingle with the students that you will be having class with and probably for the next four years.
Academic Rigor If you ever feel overwhelmed by schoool work then don't fret because at this school you will have teachers reminding you that you need to step it up. Even if getting help from your teacher isn't enough then the school also gives free tutoring. There is not only tutoring for academic classes but also dining adequate, for in the future when you have those fancy business dinners.

Everyone gives each other a big smile and counselors are there to help you at each step. There is no need to feel overwhelmed when you have so much help at California Baptist University.

Categories Comments Campus Safety Seldomly is there a break-in to an apartment, and it's usually only when somebody left their door or window unlocked.
Greek Life No frats or sororities, but this campus honestly doesn't need it because there is already such a community feeling in each living area and among the students on the campus as a whole.
Clubs and Activities There are so many clubs, ranging from film to frisbee, biology to ultimate Frisbee, cooking to IJM, and much more! You just have to go check them out for yourself!
Great for these types of students This school is great for students who want to excel in their major but also have the opportunity to experience other focuses as well! If you want to be stretched in your field, embrace new experiences, make life-long friends, and strengthen your beliefs, this is the place to go!
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus Our intramural sports are huge on campus, especially flag football. We have our very own Fortuna Bowl where the football teams compete to be in the championship game, and everyone comes out and enjoys food and supports their favorite teams. It is so much fun!
Bang for the buck This school is expensive, but it is completely worth it! I have so much help from scholarships provided by the school, outside scholarships, and loans as well. The scholarships are stackable, so if you are offered a scholarship for music, academics, and maybe another one for sports or something, you can use them all!
What to do for fun There are so many opportunities to hang out with your friends on and off campus. Many clubs get together during the week and are a lot of fun to be a part of. Our school hosts tons of events in the main court yard or in each living area, so there's always something going on during the evenings. A lot of weekends are spent going to the beach, going to Disneyland, heading up to the mountains for a hike or camping, or even just heading down the street to the mall.
Food and Dining CBU is known for how great their food is in the cafeteria. Everyone loves the open buffet available for all three meals of the day! We also have another dining area that serves food that you can eat there or take with you on the go.
Dorm Life Loved it! The RA my freshman year was amazing, and I'm still great friends with the others I met on my hall freshman year. The on-campus apartments after freshman year are really nice and have a great community feeling.
Academic Rigor There are so many majors to choose from that can catapult you to into a career anywhere in the world. Every school and college in this university focuses on the success and development of each student. Even if the classes are strenuous, professors are available and willing to talk to you outside of class time!
Tips for prospective students Communicate openly with your professors. Take the time to get to know them and take advantage of the resources around you. Most schools have TAs that teach the lecture or have professors who won't meet with students, but this is definitely not the case for CBU.
In three sentences This is an absolutely amazing campus filled with opportunities to stretch and grow in your academics, athletics, beliefs, and as a strong individual. The faculty members are genuinely interested in the success of their students not only in their 4/5 years at CBU, but also in their future careers and life goals. I would not trade my time at CBU for any other college experience!

Categories Comments Campus Safety Public Safety is always around and there in no time when needed. On call 24/7, and very nice. One time an officer asked if we needed prayer for anything.
Greek Life I don't know much about the Greek Life, but if it's anywhere near the rest of the school, it's really good!
Clubs and Activities Sports, ASCBU, and just about any club you can think of.
Great for these types of students Any type of student! CBU is for everyone.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus Fortuna Fountain! The Ring, The Bible, the Kugal, and the Seal. We have many traditions, but one is the kugal walk. Every student performs this the first day of school and during graduation.
Bang for the buck CBU is a great place for one to find himself/herself. You have a chance to learn about yourself and your maker. With these opportunities you meet people, and make connections that will never die.
What to do for fun Whats not to do? Ping pong, tennis, swimming, soccer, football, volleyball, longboard, hangout with friends, eat food, and go to the awesome events CBU has!
Food and Dining CBU has the best cafe I have ever been too. They have a wide variety of options ever day, as well as a steady menu for those with consistent cravings.
Dorm Life The community in the dorms is as good as it gets. So many awesome Christian guys all in one place. The RA's are all really cool and easy to relate too. The dorms are a very friendly place!
Academic Rigor The teachers are all very qualified for their positions. They invest in the students, and do what they can to help you out with school or even other problems you may have.

Dorm Life I have not yet lived on campus, however i hear that it is an eventure that the students enjoy. The school has small gathering and fun events for the students to get to know their dorm mates.
Academic Rigor So far I've learned that the classes are easy because the teachers pay attention to the student as an individual. The classes can vary between lab classes, regular classes, online schooling, and night school.

Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus The unusual locations on campus, is the wellness center and the post boxes. They're like behind buildings and out of gates, and it's just a little weird.
What to do for fun Well first off, freshmen orientation was awesome! There was something for everyday! You would never say that your were bored. The only time you would be bored, is if you didn't participate in any of the events. They made sure you had something to do.
Food and Dining I love Cal Baptist food! They have so much varieties you could pick from. It's almost life a buffet, but instead, there's more people here and you have to be consiberable with the food.
Dorm Life Cal Baptist dorm life is awesome! It's roomy, and you can do your room any kind of way you want, you just have to make sure it's okay with your roommate. But like I said before, everyone is so nice. So, I advice you to leave your room door open when your in there, and just watch who shows up.
Academic Rigor The academic circumstances are totally what you make it. The teachers aren't going to care if you aren't listening. It's your job to get what needs to be done, done! they just don't let you do whatever, there's certain things that they don't allow.

Greek Life no greek life unfortunately.
Clubs and Activities i haven't personally gotten into any clubs but i heard they are a lot of fun!
Great for these types of students Friendly, open, determined, Faithful students
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus Well i found out that two of the building used to be an insane asylum and a mortuary, that's pretty interesting, i thought.
Bang for the buck it is definitely bang for your buck everything and i mean EVERYTHING that is offered at cbu is worth the money you have to pay to be able to attend, my only piece of advice would be to MAKE SURE you save up and have the money to attend.
What to do for fun The have so many events to participate in. Orientation alone was an entire weekend that consisted of concerts. bowling and informational events. The have sports games, concerts, hundreds of clubs, many places to go eat. It is a very exciting campus to live on, honestly.
Food and Dining The food is absolutely DELICIOUS!!! i LOVE it!
Dorm Life Dorming is the most excited thing i have ever experienced. The freedom of living on your own MAY get a little stressful sometimes but for the most part it is an outstanding experience. I got the chance to dorm for about a month, and i absolutely loved it, i couldn't afford it anymore unfortunately, so i had to move back in with my folks but that's my fault. If i had figured out my financial situation before hand i would have been able to dorm all year.
Academic Rigor Academic rigor: 5 stars. The professors do an incredible job of teaching you what is needed to pass their class but to also be prepared for whatever you are majoring in.
Tips for prospective students My tips for prospective students are to: 1)Have faith in all you do, especially God 2) Do not let money or your background be an issue when perusing your education because it is YOUR education 3) Get involved as much as you can because the friends you make in college may be the ones that you will keep for a lifetime. 4) work hard for what you want, and anything is possible
In three sentences California Baptist University is an outstanding school, in all aspects! They really do a great job of making you feel like a huge family and provide some of the best educators to teach you all you need to learn. The relationship the school as a whole with God is unbelievable!

Greek Life There is no Greek Life here at CBU
Clubs and Activities There is a club and an activity for every single person! For those who love surfing, theirs a club for that! For those who want to strengthen their relationship with God, there is a club for that as well! Even just getting involved in the community and with your major!
Great for these types of students CBU is great for all kinds of students! There is something here for everyone!
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus T.W.I.R.P. = The Woman is Required to Pay! A week dedicated to the woman on campus asking guys out to fun and friendly dates during the week and they pay! Very much like a Sadie Hawkins! 6 Flags is a favorite event during this week! WOO Fest = All the gentlemen on campus go out of their ways to WOO the woman! The men then through an event inside the gym called WOO Fest, I cannot describe it in words but you'll have to ask the girls because they ALWAYS look forward to this event!
Bang for the buck CBU is pricy, but you do get what you pay for! The campus is beautiful, the class sizes are smaller compared to other local colleges and universities, and the professors can really engage the whole class in discussion and get everyone involved in labs.
What to do for fun You really can never be bored here! People are always here doing something! Just get plugged in! Join clubs! And you won't ever be bored!
Food and Dining The CBU Alumni Dining Commons is possibly the best food in Riverside! A lot of local families come to the cafe to eat alongside the college students just because the food is good and well priced! The diner is the social spot of CBU! :)
Dorm Life A lot of people that are slightly local go home every weekend, but there is always an event going on to keep the students entertained during their free weekends and making friends on campus is very easy! :)
Academic Rigor This is all depending on your major, I am a Biology Major and i am taking my core science classes at the moment that demand a lot of my attention. But balancing school and work is a challenge, but I'm not saying its impossible!
Tips for prospective students Apply early! You will get accepted here! Schedule a tour because I am almost certain you will not see a campus as beautiful as California Baptist University! Make sure you stay in contact with your admissions counselor and financial aid counselor, they are there to help you in every step of the way! :)

Categories Comments Campus Safety Very safe! This institution is very picky on who they choose to join their campus. They will not accept anyone who will not uphold the school's reputation and their beliefs.
Clubs and Activities There are plenty of activities and clubs to join while your stay here.
Bang for the buck This institution is definitely worth every penny. Getting your education, activities to do, food, helpful professors and staff. Perfect institution to starting a brighter future!
What to do for fun There is a activity center for students to play games and study and hang out. There are plenty of different things that students can do for entertainment.
Food and Dining The cafeteria looks awesome! On top of that you swipe a food card and it is all you can eat! It is all pretty nutritious and delicious! Enough said.
Dorm Life I am not going to any dorms. However, there are videos up on site where they have future students watch and there are students who live on campus. The rooms look pretty clean and it looks like an awesome place to stay for any student who is interested.
Academic Rigor As with any school, academically this school is a challenge based on what career path you choose. However, they professors will help you all they can to help you succeed. There are also other study tools available for extra assistance.

Categories Comments Campus Safety Very safe. A policeman is biking around campus 24/7 to ensure safety.
Greek Life There's no Greek life, but there are honor societies with Greek names for exceptional students.
Clubs and Activities There's a club and activity for anyone and everyone.
Great for these types of students All students: especially those looking for a small, private, liberal arts setting wishing to grow in faith with Christ.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus The ADC (caf) used to be underground, but not anymore.
Bang for the buck Exceptional academics, opportunities, and facilities. The price is so expensive, so I docked off one star for that purpose.
What to do for fun Being in Riverside, there's mountains, beaches, hills, mountains, and a desert all together (with 30 minutes distance). you can bike, swim, climb, or simply hang out at local cafes. It's to your advantage that Riverside has everything any college student can ask for. It's both metropolitan (in the city) yet suburban (homely) at the same time. This school offers the best of everything.
Food and Dining Phenomenal food ranging from Asian food, Mediterranean, Italian, pizza, and sushi. There's something new daily, everything is beyond delicious.
Dorm Life CBU has two options for freshman housing: cottages and dorms. The cottages is very unique in that there's a courtyard and porches, while offering everything a dorm has. They're both very traditional.
Academic Rigor The academic rigor is set perfectly. It's not so demanding that students get stressed or confused, but enough to challenge students to think rigorously and make an honest effort to achieve good grades. The challenging academic environment, along with the professors who are professionals in their field makes the education so much more worthwhile.
Tips for prospective students Take advantage of all the resources CBU has to offer. CBU is known for having a plethora of faith-based opportunities, so engaging in ministry or learning from your peers will always be an option if you're interested in learning more about Christ. Finally, the school is especially known for its renowned International Service Projects, where you preach about Jesus in other countries-- it's an eye-opening experience allowing all participants to grow closer to God.
In three sentences California Baptist University offers everything any students could ask for: a world-class teaching facility, recreational and intramural sports, an academic resource center, a career services center, on top of an intimate, close-nit community ready for a hands on learning environment. As the only Baptist university in the state of California, it offers a faith-based education, fully integrated in all classroom settings. Categories Comments Campus Safety Because the campus is small it is very easy to spot an unusual person on the campus. Our Public Safety staff is very quick and attentive to any problem. Also because it is a small campus there are only 2 entrances/exits which means that there are not a lot of places where anyone can just come in without the safety staff knowing about it.
Greek Life No greek life because it is a Christian university. There are Bible studies and things of that nature that can be joined.
Clubs and Activities There are many clubs for different types of people. For example there is a nursing club, a baking club, a spanish club, and a many more. CBU has a wide verity of clubs and also different activities to participate in. One activity is ISP where students have the opportunity to go over seas on a missions trip.
Great for these types of students Students that want a relaxing environment and do not want the drama of people drinking or smoking or having sex should truly consider this university. There is something here that other university do not have and that is a focus on Christ and him being our recreational fun.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus One unusual tradition is Fortuna Bowl which is the championship game for intramural flag football for the mens and women team. Since it is close to halloween some people dress up and many people go to get whatever free shirt or beanie they are giving out that year.
Bang for the buck The school is expensive but if you are looking for a Christ centered education than every penny is worth it. This school has helped me develop long lasting Christian relationships as well as furthering my relationship with God.
What to do for fun The Tyler Mall is right down the street if you want to get off campus and have some fun. On campus there are things like intramural sports and the famous Christmas Tree Lighting. CBU is constantly trying to find fun things for the students to do when they are not in class.
Food and Dining There are many selections at CBU to choose from. First there is the the Alumni Dining Commons which is a buffet setting and it is a lot of fun when you want to sit and eat with friends. There are also quick to go places like Brisco's and Subway.
Dorm Life I did not live at the dorms but I spent a lot of time there with my friend that lived in them. Most people seemed to enjoy the dorms. At CBU the bathrooms are very clean and so is the living area that the school is in charge of. Its a great group of people to live with at CBU.
Academic Rigor Great professors that you do anything to help you succeed. They are easy to talk to and always give you opportunities to come see them and talk to them about grades. At the same time they do push you academically and force you to try and give a full effort.
Tips for prospective students Do not expect things to play out as you expect. This advance goes for any university you attend. There are going to be bumps in the road these next four years will teach you how to rise above them.
In three sentences I give this university a 10 if you are interested in a small school with a christian background. The nice thing about CBU is that the professors care and so does the staff. These past 3 years have helped me grow spiritually as well as academically.

Categories Comments Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus we do have some traditions on campus such as fortuna bowl and midnight madness. We do not have a football team unlike most school so the student body puts on intramural sport such as flag football, dodgeball, volleyball, ect. fortuna bowl is also known as our homecoming night. we do a court with Mr. and Ms. CBU and battle our a victor in our flag football tournaments.
What to do for fun There are some fun activities on campus as well as off campus. We have a bran new recreation center with a rock wall and outdoor track. also CBU provides amazing discounted deals on movie and disneyland tickets. Also we have a mall and plaza down the street from the school.
Food and Dining The food and dining options are great! We have multiple different choices on campus including our cafeteria, Brisco's our mini cafe, as well as our new addition, subway!
Dorm Life I currently live in the cottages on campus and absolutely love it! I room with 2 other girls and live with 10 other cottage mates along with an amazing RA. The whole little cottage committee is close and greatly centralized within the school. I have heard good things about the dorms as well, 2 per room with one RA per hall.
Academic Rigor I am in my first semester of CBU and absolutely love it! all the professors are amazing. The class room sizes are small making it possible to know your professors on a personal level. CBU is a non-apoligetic christian school and is proud of their faith and christian based teaching. All of my professors prayed before each class and are able to relate biblical based teachings when implacable.

Categories Comments Campus Safety I have never felt the least bit threatened while on campus, even late at night.
Greek Life There are neither sororities nor fraternities at CBU, but there are many other opportunities to get involved on campus.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus There is a tradition on campus for new students to walk by the Kugel in Yeager Center during orientation and to place their hands along it. On graduation day, they walk in the opposite direction and once again run their hands along the Kugel. This tradition is a symbolic gesture of coming in and then leaving, and is called the Kugel Walk.
What to do for fun On campus, one can visit the game room and play ping pong, pool, shuffleboard, or Foosball. There is also a recreational center being built which will have workout equipment, a pool, an above ground track, a rock climbing wall, and much more. This is projected to open in the spring of 2013.
Food and Dining Not only are there a wide array of dining options, the food is also very good. The cafeteria at California Baptist University defies the stereotypes of a college caf and actually is quite delicious. Wanda's is a wonderful place, as well, especially for those without a meal plan.
Dorm Life As a commuter student, my knowledge of the dorm life doesn't extend very far. However, there are many different options for those who wish to live on campus, and the majority of them are well-maintained and really quite nice.
Academic Rigor California Baptist University sets a high standard for its students in terms of academics. However, the majority of professors are realistic in their expectations, and if one stays motivated, one can certainly achieve A's.
Tips for prospective students In high school, keep your grade point average up and be sure to do well on the SATs. California Baptist University gives excellent financial aid to the academically motivated students. Because it is a private college and costs quite a large sum, it is important to stay focused and not slack off during high school.
In three sentences California Baptist University is a warm, inviting place where one feels at home from the moment they step on campus. Students are friendly, buildings are well-maintained, and professors are kind and approachable. This is a wonderful university for anyone who wishes to gain knowledge of God and academics.

Categories Comments What to do for fun California Baptist University is right in the center of southern California, in less than an hour you can go to some of the nicest beaches California as to offer, or you can go snowboarding; and if Disney land is your cup of tea, do not fear because Anaheim is only forty minutes away.
Food and Dining The food is absolutely delicious!!!! No need for further explanation.
Dorm Life At California Baptist University the dorms are divided into two, Simmons and Smith. The female and men population are divided. Some prospective student might see this as a turn off, however the dorm life is great. One will become super close to their hall-mates and roommates and build friendships that will last a life time. Whether you are a guy or gal, your experience will be a time to remember.
Academic Rigor California Baptist University offers many great majors and areas of study, some of course are more difficult as others because of the high level classes needed for a major. Especially those looking forward to attending a graduate school after earning their bachelors or masters.
Tips for prospective students When choosing a University or institution of higher learning make sure to look at the different components a University has to offer. Every college is different so make sure you choose to attend the one that is right for your dreams and your personality. California Baptist University is a private Christian college. If you want to be around friendly, enthusiastic and good people it is the place for you.

Food and Dining The food is amazing! We have superb cooks at all of our dining areas on campus. It isn't the freshman 15 at CBU, it's the freshman 45 just because you eat so much good food!!
Dorm Life The dorms on-campus for freshman are not very special and are kind of small, but the administrators are big on community. All of the other housing areas for upper-classmen are very nice and updated.
Academic Rigor The classes definitely challenge you, but the professors are more than willing to help you with anything you need. They love getting to know their students on a personal level and want to make their classes as easy to understand as possible.
Tips for prospective students Definitely get a meal plan, but don't over-eat because of all the good food in the all-you-can-eat cafeteria; make sure you still stay active. Staying active will be easier with the new recreation center with gym equipment that just opened up this month.

Greek Life NO GREEK LIFE AT ALL! IF YOU WANT A GREEK LIFE DO NOT COME TO THIS SCHOOL.
Clubs and Activities There aren't many activities or the ones that one can do. Some are fun but they are rare only a few times a year.
Great for these types of students Great of Christian students. If you are not Christian they try to force it on you. If you have no religion they all look at you like the devil. If you are not Christian you should not come here.
Bang for the buck Education is worth it even though it gets extremely expensive. You pay a lot of money and you do not really see where the money goes in the school.
What to do for fun Almost NOTHING! Hardly any parties. You cannot even dance on school events. If you want to have fun you need to go out of the school to downtown Riverside or the UC Riverside.
Food and Dining Really good food but they repeat foods often. Sometimes the only thing to eat is pizza. Great desserts and variety of drinks. Waffles are the best!
Dorm Life All boy or girl dorm. You get treated like if you are in high school. You can only be on opposite sex dorm twice a week and three hours each day. No tobacco or alcohol allowed. You cannot be swearing or you will get in trouble. Over the weekends dorm life is dead!
Academic Rigor All teachers are well educated and will help you in any way. Classes are small therefore teachers put extra attention to you. Easy classes to pass since teachers cannot fail over a third of the students therefore they work to make classes not so complicated.
Tips for prospective students Get a job and save money because it gets really expensive and apply for scholarships.

Greek Life No sororities.
Clubs and Activities At California Baptist University there is a club for just about everyone. Including clubs devoted to specific languages, international students, various medical undergraduates, Math club, theater, Speech and Debate and more.
Great for these types of students California Baptist University is an excellent school for many types of students weather one is an eager learner, social light, athlete, theater kid, or music lover. There are students that are completely into sciences and students that are all about the arts. CBU enjoys offering opportunities for every student to excel by offering an excellent free tutoring service and providing office hours for each professor.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus TWIRP week is a fun full-week event during the fall where The Woman Is Required To Pay CBU provides huge discounts on activities at different locations each day of the week for a friendly or romantic date. Woo week is the guys version of TWIRP during the Spring. Fortuna Bowl is like the super bowl of CBU, where all the students gather for fun events surrounding the final games between the last four intermural flag football teams (two Boys teams and two Girls teams)
Bang for the buck The school has a discount on just about anything one can think of including movie tickets, Disneyland passes, Outdoor recreational equipment or passes. California Baptist's students ride the bus at no charge. There is a long list of discounts and freebies that come with going to the school.
What to do for fun It depends on how creative one is. On campus one can skateboard, movie/hangout game night at an apartment, there is a recreational center, there are often huge events such as concerts and carnival style events. The school gets really in the spirit for their sports games so it is fun to attend them. There is a game room with pool, foos -ball, ping-pong etc. The list goes on for things to do on campus at CBU. If one wants to go off campus there are two shopping malls within 5 miles of campus. A drive in movie theater, ice skating, great food options, late night Dennys, mount rubidoux, hiking, snow boarding and skiing, Disneyland and many more yet to be discovered.
Food and Dining There are many options in the cafeteria that are similar to, but better than the restaurant Souplantation. If one chooses not to eat in the cafeteria there are three other places on campus that one can choose to eat including Subway. There are tasty things to eat at any time of the day.
Dorm Life The living options are incredible at CBU! The freshman may live in dorms or Cottages. Sophomores - Seniors live in apartments. There are no unpleasant places to live on campus. All living situations are very agreeable.
Academic Rigor It truly depends on your major how academically rigorous the course is. If one is a science major the academics can be intense and are competitive, so one ought to visit the professor's office hours to become fully aware of the best way to excel in that course.
Tips for prospective students One should plan their time schedule as soon as they have their courses and classes set. There are always fun things and activities happening on campus and it is easy to get caught up and forget to do homework.
In three sentences This school has sound academics. Each student will get into the classes they need and want. The professors are fun to learn from, care about each of their students and want your success.

What to do for fun Mt. Rubideoux is always fun, the game room sells tickets for movies and plays and other things like that for really cheap. Events are fun but a lot of times most fun is off campus.
Tips for prospective students -Get involved with people and events on campus -If you are unused to the private school environment then there will have to be adaptation on your part, speaking from personal experience. I came from a very large public high school, have never been in private school before, and I was culture shocked when I first came here.

Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus The Kugel is a floating granite globe sculpture at the front entrance of the school. It is a symbol of Christs Great Commission. CBU's tradition calls for newly enrolled students to touch the Kugel as they begin their educational experience at CBU and again on commencement day. The kugel plays a similar role for participants in other CBU activities such as International Service Projects. The tradition symbolizes each students commitment to live a life of purpose in accordance with his or her spiritual beliefs.
Bang for the buck Just do it! Just apply for CBU and you will not regret it. It is a very good school that has so much to offer; to help everyone fulfill their purpose.
What to do for fun There is plenty to do for fun here! With the new Recreation Center, there is rock climbing, basketball courts, raquet ball courts, volleyball nets, rooftop soccer field with track, and much more! This place keeps you fit and active. There is also the outside sand volleyball courts with an outdoor basketball court. Plenty of activities that CBU hosts for FREE!

Categories Comments Campus Safety Most of the time, Cal Baptist is fully safe. At other times, there's robberies and car thefts.
Greek Life Cal Baptist has no Greek Life.
Clubs and Activities There are great clubs and activities at Cal Baptist, but sadly, not that much ... but no worries, Cal Baptist significantly grows every year.
Great for these types of students Cal Baptist is great for those wanting to study something Big, Christian Studies, Philosophy, and Applied Theology, or double major. Also consider Cal Baptist for it's Architecture program (the Dean of the Architecture school happens to be trustworthy and respectable).
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus Cal Baptist has too many unique traditions. However, I'd like to point out that Cal Baptist does have private, picturesque locations on campus. To use them, all you have to do is find them.
Bang for the buck Despite it's hefty price tag, I've only have had to pay 1200 out of my own pocket. I feel like I'm paying for Cal State tuition. :) Which is a plus. However, make sure you're able to pay for 2/3 of the tuition. If you end up having to pay for more than $10,000 through your own pocket, and loans, do not attend Cal Baptist. You'd be better attending another college or university. Also, only take out Federal Subsidized loans (and not even a single unsubsidized loan). Private loans will haunt you if you take them out. Believe the horror stories you read about those taking out private loans.
What to do for fun For fun you could attend campus events by both students and faculty, join or start clubs, participate in Bible study groups, etc. However, Cal Baptist is unique in that it happens to host some interesting events through the year. For this part, you'll have to ask students yourself.
Food and Dining Although I don't have a meal plan, I've eaten in the cafeteria before: the food is amazing. Cal Baptist also happens to host other eating areas: Subway, Wandas, and Briscos. All the which happen to serve excellent food.
Dorm Life Irrelevant to me as I happen to be a commuter. However, from observing students who live on campus, the majority of them seem happy. My advice to incoming freshman is to live in the cottages their first year.
Academic Rigor The work at Cal Baptist is both challenging and manageable. Assigned readings and essays will comprise the majority of your work. However, if you explore school's academics more than the average student, you'll find something exciting to work on.
Tips for prospective students Get to know the Faculty and Professors at Cal Baptist. They want to know you not only as their student but as your friend. At Cal Baptist you'll be required to take (3) Christian Studies courses. The school advises that you take Old & New Testament Survey before taking your last required Christian Studies course. I say you should instead take the lower division requirements for the Christian Studies Major (only 4 courses). This way you not only study the Bible, but you study it properly, and more in depth. Although a meal plan isn't required for commuters, get one anyways, even if it's the smallest meal plan. Remain Undeclared for your Freshman year. Use your freshman year to not only finish your general education requirements, but to explore the school academically. Take advantage of the events hosted at Cal Baptist. They're all unique and worth attending at least once. If you're a commuter, don't go home right after classes for your first month at Cal Baptist. It's important that you have a strong beginning at Cal Baptist, or for any college or university for that matter. It's not necessary to find your true love your freshman year, or enter the college experience just yet. Use your freshman year to understand the new environment you're entering as opposed to just conforming to expectations. If you plan on studying Engineering, Music, Architecture, or Nursing, then just study one of them. If you're studying anything else, double major or pick up an minor. A diverse study is not good for yourself, but possibly impressive to future employers. I would like to give you more tips, but I've blown up my page as it is haha
In three sentences California Baptist University is a great university for those wanting to study in a spiritually driven environment as opposed to a secular one. The goal of a Christian University is to help its students develop a clear identity of their intellect and spirituality as opposed to a new identity. So take my rating seriously when I say California Baptist University is not only progressing academically but is respected for its School of Christian Ministries to develop the identity and minds of its students.
