Make sure this is something you really want to do and are interested in. We are a quasi military school so we do wear uniforms and we do have 07:30 am mandatory formations in the quad every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday.

Research the maritime industry thoroughly before you apply. The school has a very high attrition rate and a very low morale on campus. If you are there for anything besides breaking into a Maritime field, you are in for a very tough time. However those that are committed to life on the seas have very good opportunities upon graduation, and the California Maritime Academy has good reputation and a niche in the maritime market. You should also think twice you suffer from motion sickness, are colorblind, or have any other medical or sensory condition that requires frequent treatment or special equipment, as you will need to pass licensing exam in addition to graduating.
