Great for these types of students

If you are looking for a small campus with diversity then CSU Dominguez is the place for you. Everyone is friendly and willing to help. If your lost or just looking for a great place to eat, do not hesitate to ask anyone. I have only been at Dominguez for one year but after the first day I was already in love. It is a great campus with so much to offer.

    Tips for prospective students

For all incoming freshmen I would encourage them to take the summer bridge program. I know the thought of taking summer school before college is the last thing on your mind but it really prepares you for what to expect during the fall. Go to all of the orientations because it helps you meet people and make friends before you officially start. It also helps you get acquainted to the campus as well. Go to the games, mixers, or other events at the school. Don't miss out on anything. These are your best years, make sure to enjoy them. Also if you are having trouble in any of your classes do not hesitate to ask questions or get tutoring. They offer free tutoring so I would recommend that you take advantage of it.

    Bang for the buck

I believe that even though the tuition is going up for the CSU's, with all of the help that is provided at the school, from free tutoring and a great computer lab, you really get a lot for what you're paying.

    Am enjoying being here

I really enjoy it at Dominguez. It is a small campus but there are so many things that go on. From welcome week to Midnight Madness, and even Toro Tuesdays. They have many events to get the students involved.

    Am learning a lot

I am learning many different things at Dominguez. My first year here has really built a great foundation for the rest of my scholastic career. From easy tips to taking notes and easy study tips.

Great for these types of students

Older, professional nursing students who wish to pursue a masters in nursing for FNP. They also have other Masters in Nursing for administration and education I believe.

    Tips for prospective students

The paperwork requirements are very detailed, start early filling out and gathering your documents or you could be left out of matriculation.

    Bang for the buck

Although the tuition price is increasing, it is still a bargin for a masters-level education, which I very much appreciate.

    Am enjoying being here

I am not physically on campus much, but have noticed the student union, which seems to be tuned in to outreach.

    Am learning a lot

The current learning experience is via distance learning, it is suprisingly rigorous. There are some weekends that you attend for some of the classes. This makes it easy for working professionals such as myself.

Great for these types of students

It is a small and diverse campus. It has a nice atmosphere to be around. It’s a great campus for students that do not work well in a large class environment but better in a smaller one. It helps you gain a closer relationship with your professor. This helps because if you need help you can easily ask questions and most of the professors’ have office hours when you drop in and get help. It also gives you the chance to get to know your fellow classmates so you can also get helps from them or start study groups to help you throughout every course.

    Dorm Life

if you are a timid person, you will not meet a lot of people. the students who are outgoing, and social are the ones that end up having a great dorm life experience. get out of your comfort zone and go out and meet students.

    In three sentences

Great for these types of students

CSU Dominguez Hills is great for all kinds of students. There is a lot of diversity, there are a lot of clubs, orgs. and its fun but if all you want to do is study it is also great because there are quiet hours and its just a great campus that fits with anyone.

    Tips for prospective students

Go to the orientations. The campus is not very big therefore it is easier to get familiar with it. Make new friends that you can hang out with during the fall. If you can stay at the dorms its super fun and a great experience. Make sure you take care of your financial aid ASAP! Register with time and make these your best years.

    Am enjoying being here

I am from Vista which is in San Diego county, thus I live in the dorms. I really enjoy being here and living at the dorms because everyone is super friendly and you feel right at home. There is always something going on and something to do both on campus and at the dorms.

    Am learning a lot

CSU Dominguez Hills has small class; therefore, if you enjoy interacting with the professors and the other students this is the school for you. Since I enjoy working in a small classroom I have been learning a lot and it has been great working with the professors and students.

Great for these types of students

A small university with a diversity of students helps people adjust to a community in which we all feel equal in. I've only been here for a semester and yet I feel like i shouldn't be anywhere else. Everyone's nice to each other and if you need any help, just ask a friendly person and they'll actually help you. There is no typical high school drama - I think this is a great university for students who wish to attend to a small campus, where everyone is familiar with each other in due time.

    Tips for prospective students

When I first enrolled here, my admission was somewhat revoked due to my previous high school making an error. I'd advise students to check with their high school whether their final transcripts have the date they've graduated. Other than that, I'd also advise them to check their emails and accounts online to know what they're getting and what they have to do at the university before feeling relaxed.

    Bang for the buck

Despite the raise in tuition fee, I feel it's worth paying for when you have a school this nice. Although, it would be nice if I can afford most things I need for each class.

    Am enjoying being here

I've met tons of new people and they've been kind to me during my time schooling there. It feels so good to talk to others and get advice for my future lessons and such.

    Am learning a lot

There are so many things to learn within each subject that I have not learned before. Each class has a professor that is prepared and willing to teach us more within a subject.

    Campus Safety

there is a campus police department on the campus, how active are they? i really don't know since all i see them do is pull over people leaving school or writing parking tickets.

    Greek Life

there is also active greek life on this campus, but not so active since 2009.

    Clubs and Activities

there are a lot of clubs on campus but i think it really depends on the students participation.

    Bang for the buck

overall the school is really good if your coming to college for strictly academics and little to no fun. but it is what it is, and how you make it, your experience might be different from mine.

    What to do for fun

this campus is not really known for its activities, so i guess i'm just going to say skip this question (lol).

    Food and Dining

for the most part, this campus has a dh sports lounge that has pretty good food, but timing is not always on our side. there are other fast food places like taco bell, dragon express, subway, and a few others that accommodate us until about 7pm.

    Dorm Life

okay, realistically, the dorms suck!! because i've been here a while, i've gotten to experience and see a huge difference in living in the dorms as a freshman and living in the dorms as a senior, huge difference.

    Academic Rigor

classes are subjected to help gain knowledge of applied studies. most teacher in your preferred major would tell you they just want you to learn something you can apply to your future.

    Tips for prospective students

a tip for future students i would suggest is ask as many questions about your major as possible. also, remain a good standing gpa and seek help- from your teachers and get to know them well.

    In three sentences

this university is known for many different multicultural racial backgrounds and diverse heritages. most of the students here are first generation college students and minorities. the school has been around for over 50 years, but has added different cultural feelings to the everyday campus life.

    Campus Safety

i always feel safe on campus, even at night. our security guards are awesome. sometimes you hear about someone starting something, but nothing ever gets out of control because the guards are there in an instant.

    Greek Life

i'm not into the greek stuff, but from what i hear they are pretty tightnit and very friendly.

    Clubs and Activities

i don't know much about other clubs on campus, but our anthropology club is just amazing! we recently had our student research day and one of our students won first place! we also go out on field trips to other cities, attend conferences and museums and sometimes have pow wows!

Great for these types of students

great for students how like being with people and getting involved. everyone on campus is very friendly, and there is always some sort of workshop or internship fair going on at the career center. it's a great place if you need help finding a career, or even just deciding on a major.

Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus

the library is a great place to take a nap! there are five floors, and four of them have couches that you can usually see have students laying on them!

    Bang for the buck

get involved with your teachers. they are all so awesome, and know a lot about how to get scholerships, interships, and they all just give off a friendly sort of i-want-to-help-you vibe.

    What to do for fun

we have clubs and societies you can join that do fun things, as well as sometimes students have bake sales and sell goodies around campus.

    Food and Dining

the food could use some work. it's pretty expensive, and some of it isn't very good at all. however, there are a lot of different places to eat just off campus that you can go to and that are pretty good.

    Dorm Life

i'm not in the dorms, but from what i hear they are very nice!

    Academic Rigor

i think it depends on which department you are in. i am in the anthropology department, and our curriculum is pretty rigorous. however, the teachers make it interesting, and they are always willing to help if you are having problems with the material.

    Tips for prospective students

don't be intimidated. going to a new, bigger school can be frightening, but don't be afraid to reach out and get to know people. that's how you make connections in finding friends, jobs, and having a good time.

    In three sentences

i love my school. the teachers are so willing to help students and make connections with them. even the students themselves pull together to help each other out.

    Campus Safety

They have a police station basically on campus and little red emergency things on campus just in case something goes wrong. Also at night they have an escort service where they have a student walk another student to their car. Sometimes the police even drive you to your car or accompany you by driving on the side of you until you get there.

    Greek Life

Numerous types of fraternities and sororities on campus. You'll see them walking around with their jackets or having a booth during Toro Tuesdays.

    Clubs and Activities

Numerous types of clubs to join who welcome anyone who wants to join. Activities are always going on during the day or sometimes at nights which student could be involved with.

Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus

Loker Student Union and outside LSU are the places where most people hang out and where the buzz is during the week.

    Bang for the buck

Could lower tuition or bring the free printing back. The printing went from being able to print 100 pages free to 10 pages free and now no pages for free.

    What to do for fun

Attend the events on campus when they have it. There's Toro Tuesdays where the school has different vendors and music near the Loker Student Union. Sometimes the sororities and fraternities are there to give their show.

    Food and Dining

wish they had better food and a meal program here. Subway is here but the other foods aren't as healthy. And providing food for yourself in the dorm mostly results in buying fast food from McDonald's or Jack in the Box.

    Dorm Life

Meeting new people in the dorm was great. I mean even though sometimes you may not get along just like living with your family. But most of my experience in the dorms have been great.

    Academic Rigor

Some teachers are hard but even the hard teachers will make it possible to pass their class. Just take the time and go to their office hours.

    Tips for prospective students

Make sure to make it to class everyday, even if you don't feel like it. You pay to go to school and if you don't then you're wasting your money.

    In three sentences

I personally love the campus. The classes are small and teachers are more willing to take the time out and get to know their students. Some teachers even work with you if you've missed an assignment or something came up and you missed class.

Student patrol in the parking lots when it is dark outside. They make sure the parking lots are safe.

Great for these types of students

There is a lot of diversity on campus so it is something to enjoy and embrace. They have a great liberal studies department.

Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus

Toro Tuesdays, go to the Office of Student life wearing your Toro gear and enter yourself to win a movie ticket!

    What to do for fun

Go to the bar and hang out to watch the Lakers or many of the other sports games. Play games in the game room. Go to the art gallery on the first floor of the library.

    Food and Dining

The bar has taco Tuesday! The 1910 restaurant has a buffet. You can never really go wrong with Subway. If those choices do not satisfy your fancy, there are other fast food places in the dining hall. If you want there are plenty of places to eat within a couple miles that offer student discount if you are a Toro! Wingstop 10% off your order.

    Dorm Life

Dorms are actually more like apartments. Their locations are not too far from campus.

    Academic Rigor

Many of the professors are very helpful and enjoy helping students who are willing to take an extra step to ask for help outside of class. The professors are helpful and honest. They are willing to go the extra mile for students to understand the material and strive for their best in all their abilities.

    Tips for prospective students

Although it may not be a first choice to many students, it is a great university. Office of student life very helpful with transfer students. It isn't hard to find someone who is willing to help if you have a question or cannot find out where you are trying to go. Is it always great to get in touch with many other transfer students when you attend the mandatory transfer student orientation.

    In three sentences

It's a beautiful but small campus. Close classrooms and buildings make it easy to get around. They have a helpful and great staff. It is definitely a warm and welcoming environment with plenty of nice students.

    Academic Rigor

    Tips for prospective students

A smart tip for future students is, take a campus tour and get familiar with the campus. Also, the classrooms are numbered from the 100's to 500's. Each floor has is leveled in hundreds. For example, all classrooms in floor level one are in the 100's and all the classrooms in level two are in the 200's and so on.

Campus PD, and Carson deputies are always around.

    Greek Life

Booming on campus! Huge Greek community.

    Clubs and Activities

We have a Club and Organizations room, found in Loker Student Union. Go there to discover something new and fun, or try the Multicultural center.

Great for these types of students

Great for students of from all walks of life. We offer assistance for freshmen, transfer students (I was a transfer student from a Comm. College), returning students, etc.

Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus

GREEK week! Even if you aren't affiliated with a Greek organization, it's amazing. Welcome week is so much fun. I'm looking forward to it right now. Games, food, free stuff, and a great time.

    Bang for the buck

I love Cal State Univ. DH, because it's an inexpensive way to get an amazing education. My professors are mentors and I'm actually getting what I pay for...enlightenment, information, KNOWLEDGE.

    What to do for fun

Thursdays have a Farmer's Market at the Carson Mall, Dorm life includes housing activities throughout the year. The Greeks on campus are always having awesome events, and you can find fun stuff to do at Loker Student Union. Not to mention Unity Fest, Greek week, Welcome week, etc. There's always something to do at DH.

    Food and Dining

I love to cook, so I don't eat on campus past Subway. In the heart of campus you'll find LSU (Loker Student Union), a place where you'll find Taco Bell, Burger spots and the Toro Lounge (BEST Tacos on Taco Tuesday ever). There is a grocery store in walking distance, and a mall around the corner.

    Dorm Life

Dorm life is cool. I've lived her for sometime now and have learned you can meet people and gain a friendship very quickly. Dorms are actually like apartments (not hallway styled). Fridge, oven, living room, cable, toilets (2), and a vanity/ shower area to share with housemates.

    Academic Rigor

You'll have your choice of majors, I'm a Health Science Major (Comm. Option). My major is uncommon with about 45-50 people in each of my classes. Common majors like Business, Art, Biology, etc., have more people, making classes sometimes difficult to get.

    Tips for prospective students

Walk the campus during school hours, to get a feel for the environment. I like my small, intimate campus, but there is still a large student presence, that may overwhelm some people.

    In three sentences

I'm a CSUDH TORO for life, and proud to be. My campus is my education, my home, and my work. I could not have chosen a better place to advance educationally, and grow as a person.

    Greek Life

Greek life is very involved and they're not cocky or drunks or anything like that as portrayed in many college themed films (or on other campuses)

    Bang for the buck

A bachelor's degree here is cheaper compared to other universities! and there are no problems on campus and the school offers lots of fun activities and even a contest held every tuesday where you could win free tuition for a semester!

    What to do for fun

The campus always has some event going on! music mondays ( a DJ is either playing music or underground bands come and perform on campus) club sales events (cupcake sales, candy sales, purses, trinkets, pottery and much more) a video game truck sometimes comes to campus and even radio stations, we also get discounts on tickets for the home depot center (come watch the LA Galaxy, Chivas USA, or any other game/performance held there!) on certain holidays there are events held like the easter egg hunt, or even when its not holidays there are giveaway events. During finals there are massages, puzzles, and other stress relieving events present, there's also the torozone with an xbox, ps3, pool tables, and much more, or even go hang out at the sports bar on game nights!

    Food and Dining

Subway on campus along with surf city squeeze, a sports bar with some yummy wings (deals on wednesday's) a pizza place, a Chinese food place, and other eateries and mini stores around campus! great service and food!

    Tips for prospective students

The best tip I can give out is that no matter the rumors that you hear that the school is bad and what not it is not true. Many say that because it is next to compton it is a terrible school. Compton isn't even an issue to the school as it is like 10 minutes away and does not interfere with the city of carson. Also if you'd like to get into technicalities, USC is also in a poor area, so why not also bash on USC then if you have that kind of mentality. Also do not believe the rumors that are said about CSUDH accepting anyone no matter how low their GPA or terrible grades or without completing any pre-requisites, as this rumor is not true. The school is not lenient, the school will look at your GPA and will make sure that you have completed all required work. The school is diverse, (yes african americans and hispanics are the majority) but there is a little bit of everything on campus. Also the classes are not easy, those who say that they are easy are either lying or had a professor that honestly did not really care about teaching and rewarded the students with good grades. You must study, and study well as it will be the only way to graduate.

    In three sentences

Great school for both undergraduate and graduate work. The campus itself, the students, and professors are all very kind and willing to help a student out and are also very inviting. The school is not a party school but rather a community school where people work together and have fun (that does not involve drinking or smoking, etc.) but by holding events that let students become involved on campus.

    Campus Safety

We have one of the lowest crime rates of any CSU campus. There is a police station on-campus with University Police patrolling constantly, and an escort service is available after dark for students who take night classes.

    Greek Life

The Greeks are ever-present at Dominguez Hills, making themselves known by their stylish ways of dressing, matching neckties or T-shirts, campaigning for good causes, running bake sales and coordinating special events.

    Clubs and Activities

There is always something going on at CSUDH. Though we might have fewer clubs than other schools - apart from the Greeks - the associations and organizations we have are dedicated in service and special interests. Many of our extracurricular organizations are chapters of nationally-organized professional and academic organizations, trade associations, and community partners such as Jumpstart. We also have ROTC on campus.

Great for these types of students

CSUDH is for serious students who are respectful of others and passionate about learning. It's also a great place for people who are coming back to school while working, commuters, people with children (there is a Child Development Center that offers childcare to adult students), and people looking for a solid education in the sciences, education field (teacher credentialing is one of our most famous programs), technology, and the humanities. We're pretty well-rounded and our students are, too.

Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus

Most students are not aware that we have a Japanese Garden on campus, which is actually located in the middle of a building, or that there are rotating art exhibits in the library. We also have a Veteran Students Services office, a game room downstairs in the Student Union, and the Multicultural Center is a place where any student can relax with friends in a peaceful environment. The Anthropology lab has some neat specimens and plenty of books on various socio-cultural topics spanning the ages. There are some hidden places on campus, such as private study rooms in different departments (you have to ask a faculty member to use them) which are stocked with curated books and artifacts. Have fun exploring the nooks and crannies of the different buildings - trust me, there are plenty!

    Bang for the buck

We all know that tuition costs have been rising in public schools. Still, earning a degree at Dominguez is worth the money you shell out for tuition and books (hint: get your books online unless absolutely necessary to buy them at the campus bookstore - that place is better for Toro gear), not to mention the great experience that you take from your time here.

    What to do for fun

ToroProductions always has something great cooking - whether it's dance lessons, movie screenings, sports tournaments, arts and crafts, noontime concerts, Music Mondays... they are very creative and keep things happening on campus. The Multicultural Center and Associated Students Inc (ASI) also sponsor club sales, organize cultural events and provide educational and fun activities.

    Food and Dining

There is no cafeteria - but campus dining has a lot of variety. Popular food outlets such as Taco Bell, A&W, Jamba Juice, Johnny's Pizza, Subway are located in the food court in the Student Union, as well as Tully's Coffee. There is also a coffeeshop on the main floor of the library, a sports lounge, and two convenience stores located in different buildings spread throughout the campus, as well as vending machines that sell everything from hot coffee to water to snacks and soft drinks. The convenience stores are equipped with microwaves that students can use for free.

    Dorm Life

There are no dorms, but fully-furnished apartments instead. I did not stay in campus housing, but I have visited and the apartments are really good-quality, mostly doubles and triples. There are tennis courts in the complex as well as other amenities and activities. All this is located up the hill a bit, so it is at least a 7-minute walk from the buildings where classes are held.

    Academic Rigor

Classes at Dominguez are not like classes you will take anywhere else. Students here are engaged, excited about learning, and passionate about their future careers. Professors have high standards, and students meet them. The focus is not so much on all the knowledge that is out there, as it is on what really works: practical solutions for a world in need. You will be challenged to think critically and collaborate with your fellow students while remaining focused on the things that matter.

    Tips for prospective students

Future Toros, get to know your campus - the University Advisement Center, the Career Center, your major adviser - and the people who live and work here. These are very valuable resources for you. Check out the Health Center, get involved in extracurriculars such as free exercise classes, nutrition counseling, tutoring, clubs and organizations; make study buddies and use the computer labs or Wi-Fi on campus. The librarians are especially helpful if you need to do some research, and forging connections with your professors will help you to succeed as you study here, as well as provide you with references when it's time to apply to graduate schools.

    In three sentences

Dominguez, home of the Toros, is a great environment for learning. CSUDH has a very diverse student body full of people who are serious about their studies and who know how to have fun. The university has great faculty, unique extracurricular activities, strong academics and a beautiful aesthetic.

Taco Tuesdays is a tradition on Toro campus. You can always count on an organization to sell tacos on Tuesdays.

    What to do for fun

The home depot center is literally right next door to campus, there are always activities going on. Apart from that, Del Amo Mall is within reasonable distance as well.

    Food and Dining

The student union has a variety of good eats from pizza to sushi to taco bell to burgers and taco bell. You also have the home style cooking like pastas and mac and cheese. You will definitely find something to your liking,

    Dorm Life

I do not dorm, but from what I have heard the dorm life at DH is not anything extraordinary. The school is small, not much goes on.

    Academic Rigor

Some professors teaching General Education courses will go easy as they know the enrolled students are mostly new college students. However, most are rigorous and expect you to be at college level. They do not tolerate slackers

    Tips for prospective students

Register for classes as soon as your window for registration opens. Classes fill at the speed of light!

    In three sentences

The academic environment on campus is great, Most professors are willing to assist students beyond classroom hours. Classroom conditions could be better.

    Campus Safety

Everything being close to each other makes it better for if you're worried about taking a while to get to your dorm or car. The campus is well lit at night so you can see in front of you and to your sides. A nice little thing I was told is that if you still don't feel safe, you can call the campus police and have someone escort you to wherever you want to go on campus. It's almost like having a bodyguard.

    Greek Life

The fraternities and sororities here are nice and diverse. There's many activites going on there. You can also create your own fraternity or sorority as well, if you want. I have a friend in a fraternity, the meetings are interesting and the random events are fun, he tells me.

    Clubs and Activities

From Gay-Straight Alliance to Law Society, there's clubs for all kinds of people. If you can't find one you like, get 5 people together at minimum and start your own club! Create new activities as well!

Great for these types of students

If you want to just relax, hit up a friend at the dorms as they're wonderful. Want a drink or to watch a sports game? Go to the DH Sports Lounge & Bar. Want to play Call of Duty or Marvel vs Capcom? Take to the Torozone Gameroom and play on the PS3s or Xboxes there.

Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus

We have events like Welcome Week where we welcome incoming freshmen and transfer students with fun and games all around. The Loker Student Union, or LSU for short, is one of the many places to hang out around here,

    Bang for the buck

Tuition is approximately 16, 759 a year. Sounds like a lot, but with financial aid of any kind or a part/full-time job, it's affordable one way or another. There's a lot here at your disposal that will truly give you a bang for your buck.

    What to do for fun

For the sports fans, there's your volleyball, soccer, baseball, softball, basketball, and other sports to watch and participate in like Midnight Madness, a basketball tournament that starts at 11 pm. There's always selling of miscellaneous items from a pair of shades to tamales and malls conveniently nearby, so shopping will be enjoyable for everyone. Carson is part of the LA area for those who might not know, so there's not much more I need to say and more for you to discover by coming here.

    Food and Dining

Two words, super delicious. There's Taco Bell, Sushi with Gusto, Subway, Johnnie's Pizzeria, Toro Take Out, and Jamba Juice that is coming soon and conveniently placed vending machines. Whether it's a quick snack or a full meal, everything here is delicious, filling, and well-priced.

    Dorm Life

I didn't dorm this year, being a freshman I wanted to start off living at home for a while. I've seen the dorms seeing as I have friends of friends living at them. They're spacious, clean, and close to the school so everything's within your reach. There's always movie showings and other fun things, so your dorming experience shall be very delightful.

    Academic Rigor

Like in any school, some classes are hard, some are not as hard. But nothing here's completely easy, you have to study, take notes, and do your assignments because you will be met with a class or two that is more challenging than the others and will require more of your time. You'll learn a lot though, so your time spent on academics will be worth it.

    Tips for prospective students

Deadline to apply to CSU's is November 30 each year, so make sure to keep that in mind. Whether it's a back up or you've been planning to come here all along, it's a great school to have as an option. The admission rate is about a 2.4 average, so it's not too hard to get in to Dominguez, but that doesn't mean you shouldn't keep your grades up.

    In three sentences

Dominguez Hill's campus is beautiful and it's easy to navigate your way around since everything is close to each other giving it a big yet conveniently close appearance. The professors are great, the classes good sizes, the diversity wonderful, and the food is delicious. There's clubs, school activities, sororities, fraternities, job and internship fairs, and much more to keep you a busy yet entertained bee.

    Greek Life

There are Fraternities and sororities groups on campus that creates a good share of help and atmosphere around campus!

    Clubs and Activities

As far as I know, the clubs CSUDH offers are: Fraternities/sororities, Psychology, Biology, Music, Law, Computer Science, and a Multi-Cultural Society club,

Great for these types of students

CSUDH has a rec course that is almost the same or exactly the same as P.E. in high school. This is an easy 3 credit course that anyone may qualify to take. All that needs to be done in this course is to play sports such as volleyball or soccer. There are a few days where class would be cancelled making the day a freebie day for studying!

Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus

This campus has a high security protection for students, staff's and visitors with the police department built right along with the school. The school also has a few red poles with a huge button in the middles. The button is to be pressed in case of an Emergency.

    Bang for the buck

This school is very lenient with their price. Having said, taco bell and subways are the two restaurants that offers good meals and deals for students. The parking permit each semester, being $90, is also cheaper than most Cal states/ Universities.

    What to do for fun

This school has been blessed with a park and Home Depot Center, right across from it! Taking a walk, a run, or to hang out could all be done in these areas! Also, the school has an interesting building built a floor above the school's food court where people may relax and enjoy the view out the glass windows. In addition, shopping malls and more food courts are located within a mile away from CSUDH! After a long study session, go and treat yourself to shopping!

In addition, the small restaurants in CSUDH are Tullyâ??s (cafe shop), Subways, Chinese food, Johnny's Pizza, a Sports Bar (also sells tacos and beer), a buffet, and a Taco Bell. There is a wide range of choices for food all at low costs!

    Dorm Life

Although I have not ever dorm, but the friends whom I visit at the dorm finds CSUDH dorm relaxing and quiet (great for studying!). Partying dorms rarely happen and if so, dorm neighbors barely could hear the loud music and talking. The privacy of the dorm is much protected and the insides are very clean.

    Academic Rigor

Itâ??s rare to find a professor or student who is rigor through the semester. Everyone is very helpful and the process of completing tasks here at Dominguez Hills is convenient and flexible. This school also offers online classes, professors willing to work with office hours, and a free tutoring department to make school less rigor!

    Tips for prospective students

To find the teaching styles of the teachers, professors, and doctors, visit ratemyprofessor.com. Also, for students with declared majors, visit your departments ASAP for counseling. Students with undeclared majors should find internship at CSUDH to hopefully find a major that they would be interested in.

    In three sentences

CSUDH is one of the friendliest and humble schools in California. This school has a beautiful library with orchids, Mac OS desktops, and friendly staff members. This school truly cares about their current and prospective students by replying promptly to emails and by expediting studentâ??s acceptance letters.

I love CSU DOMINGUEZ HILLS.

They have their own police department, stationed in front of the school, it's comforting to know that its their if anything happens while I'm attending.

    What to do for fun

They have lots of activities planned, and some clubs to join. Near the dining area they have a mini arcade with a pool table, and a television set with a PS3, Wii and Xbox.

    Food and Dining

They have several food stalls including Subway, Jamba Juice, Taco Bell, a pizza place, a cafeteria looking stall and they're opening a Panda Express. The area has a charging station for phones and electronics, which I thought was a neat feature of the dining area.

    Dorm Life

Haven't lived or been in the dorms. The outside seemed quiet and calm.

    Academic Rigor

I can't say much on this factor, since I haven't attended the university yet.

    Tips for prospective students

Ask questions! I can't stress this enough. In fact, keep a list of questions in mind, write them down, and don't assume anything. Second important point, check your e-mail/to-do-list often. I didn't check my account for a week and already I had an important paper that needed signing, luckily I turned it in on time. Third, and just as important as the top two, remember/check due dates. Due dates are no joke, if you miss a date there are consequences, like not paying registration fees on time. Missing fees result in removing your classes from your schedule. Overall just have a good time at school, you'll meet people with similar career goals and these are the people who you'll probably end up working with.

    In three sentences

So far, from what I've seen from visiting, the staff is very friendly and super helpful. Several times I needed help getting around and asked many questions, they answered them and provided extra information. The outside is an average campus, the focal point for me was the newer library with its glass windows and four floors for every type of student.

    What to do for fun

I still haven't really got involved, but I do plan on joining a Sorority soon so I can be involved in much more things and events.

    Food and Dining

The food in college is mostly food you see out where ever you're out. The good thing it's always going to be there when you need it and try new things but, not really that good for your health if you have it all the time.

    Dorm Life

I am not dorming at the moment, but I do plan on dorming soon because I want to participate in more school events so I don't have to drive much back and forth to school.

    Academic Rigor

So far my classes are pretty good and not that challenging, but I will be getting done with all my General Education. Since I want to major in Criminal Justice, I will need to start looking for classes needed for this major.

    Tips for prospective students

Well I don't really have that many tips about this school or college in general since I just started but I will say that you're pretty much on your own most of the time. I feel like it's better because you get your things done.

    In three sentences

I am currently attending CSU Dominguez Hills as a Freshman and so far is very peaceful and nice. I feel I have much more freedom than I did in High School but more responsibility. Classes go by much faster because I had the chance to pick my classes and I what time I wanted them to be at.

    Haven't dormed.

    Academic Rigor

It is really easy if you pay attention and do homework.

    Tips for prospective students

    Campus Safety

I am very comfortable on campus. There are several emergency posts throughout the campus. If you feel in danger, all you have to do is press the button on the nearest emergency post and it will go straight to the campus police. I love the fact that you can call the campus police to be escorted to and from class during the night if you have night classes.

    Greek Life

As stated before, CSUDH does have have sororities and fraternities, but it's not exactly active on campus.

    Clubs and Activities

There so many different groups, clubs, and societies. You name it, CSUDH will most likely have it!

Great for these types of students

CSUDH is is a really diverse campus. You will find almost every race and ethnicity walking around campus. CSUDH is well known for its Clinical Science Program. So it is definitely a great pick for the CLS majors.

    Bang for the buck

Overall, Dominguez is a pretty decent school. It's really close to many places including the Carson mall and its surrounding shopping centers. The campus is nice and clean and its in a really nice area. This was not initially my first-choice school, but I am glad I enrolled here and would not trade it for the world.

    What to do for fun

They offer alot of seminars, shows for entertainment like magic shows, and they host several events throughout the year such as kareoke night, open mic, etc. They also have a gameroom to play on the latest game consoles

    Food and Dining

the food court is the main place to receive food from (there are other little campus shops scattered around). They have Taco Bell, Jamba Juice, Subway, Toro Takeout, Tully's Coffee, Johnnie's Pizza, and recently installed a Panda Express in the food court. My favorite place to eat is Johnnie's Pizza. I dont have any complaints for the food choices except for the lack of a salad and fruit bar.

    Dorm Life

I enjoy living on my own with one other roommate. Surprisingly, my roommate and I are perfect for each other and have not got into any conflicts with one another. Sometimes, other students in surrounding dormitory buildings will get rowdy from time to time (especially on weekends) but you can just tell your RA and usually the problem is solved. I like how the dorms are apartment style, so you have everything a typical apartment would have (except for air conditioning).

    Academic Rigor

Classes are challenging as all college-level class should be, but any studious and determined student will get through it.

    Tips for prospective students

If you are interested in the greek life as you see in the movies, this school would not be the best pick for you. Greek life is not too big here on campus. There are some sororities and fraternities on campus, but its not live as it would be on a bigger and more popular campus. Honestly, this school is great academically and there are tons of helpful resources and people who wants to help the students.

    In three sentences

It is a smaller school compared to other surrounding schools so it will be easy to navigate to classes. Classes are small and professors will know you by name (which is good in my opinion). Teachers there actually care about you and your success (at least the ones Ive encountered so far).

i really dont do much since im always stuck doing homework, but the school provides trips to shows and theme parks at a cheap price.

    Food and Dining

they have different restaurants like subway and panda, great food choices.

    Dorm Life

I don't dorm but i hear that its a great experience and that they look like apartments.

    Academic Rigor

there are many teachers that want to help and put time to actually help you individually.

    Tips for prospective students

just makes sure that you keep up with your homework. its important to pass all your classes. finals come very quickly and before you know it, your first semester will be over.

    In three sentences

Cal Sate Dominguez is a great school because its close to home. Its a great environment for freshmen and they offer a lot of great programs that help you. its a very diverse school.

    Campus Safety

My first semester of being at CSUDH felt safety because I never seen nothing happened.

    What to do for fun

What I do for fun at CSUDH is go to the events that the school has and have fun with my friends. Also, I go play tennis with my friends every two days a week because I have a really big gaped between my two classes and so as they.

    Food and Dining

The food and dinning at CSUDH is really good. I was able to taste the pizza place, the panda express and the taco bell. I know I have tasted the taco bell place outside of school but it is good. They also have subway but sometimes the line is too big. Also, they have Toro take-out where they have different kinds of food like breakfast pancakes.

    Dorm Life

Well, I have heard that dorming at CSUDH is cool and fun because students meet new people. But, I don't have a dorm life because it cost alot that's why I decided to stay with my family and not dorm. I always think about the dorms but I always say to myself probably next time I could dorm to have that experience that I want.

    Academic Rigor

There has been some challenges at CSUDH. When I take exams I get nervous and blank out. I said to myself I did study for this test and I should pass this exam and when I got it back I got a good grade on it. I was happy that I did but even though there are going to more challenges that later I'm going to face.

    Tips for prospective students

Tips that I would give to the new freshmen is that if you like to go to CSUDH it's your chance to do so because you will have fun and meet new people that would have the same major that you want and they will help you.

    In three sentences

California State University Dominguez Hills was my second choice to go but now that a semester is ending I don't want to leave. I felt that CSUDH is my home and good about it. Even though I don't know what is my major but I will try to find it and this school will help me get it.

They have on campus food restaurants that you can purchase food from.

    Academic Rigor

The classes are not overwhelming at all. If you just get your work done on time, you will be okay. The teachers are caring and willing to help.

    In three sentences

I would rate CSUDH an eight. It is an eight because it has multiple resources for students to go to, to get help. The school is small, so, you wont ever get lost.

Great for freshman students who need guidance. Personally, I did nor join any programs but the freshman programs offer free tutoring, and reserved classes.

    In three sentences

Overall its a great school. Some of the buildings need a bit of a renovation other than that great education wise. Great understanding professors that work with students. Very open school if your lost on campus someone will definitely assist you. Library is a very comfortable, peaceful, and lets not forget very appealing. Despite being one of the cheapest and most accepting cal state it is a commuter school which comes with many benefits.

    What to do for fun

There is a sports bar located on campus. That is always a good place to go to have some with friends. But, if you are not a drinker, the beach is not to far from campus.

    Food and Dining

Food and dining is excellent at CSUDH. The Locker Student Union has several different options for food like Subway, Tacobell, and there is also a Jamba Juice located inside.

    Dorm Life

If you have friends that live in the dorms, they are a cool place to hang out although to live in one yourself is pricey and they are very small rooms.

    Academic Rigor

Many professors are lenient but there are always those professors that are very strict about turning in assignments late, being tardy, and being absent.

    Tips for prospective students

New students should know that the Locker Student Union is the place to go to meet some new people. It is located in the center of the school where all the food is and it is a fun place to hang out with friends.

    In three sentences

    In three sentences

Awesome campus, helpful professors, very diverse community and most importantly classes don't really have that many students which gives you the chance to communicate with your professor and ask questions all the time.
