Great for these types of students

Commuter students who work and want to do school also. Live at home to save money. If you like short term 10 wk classes and want to save money for a well rounded education go here.

    Tips for prospective students

It is not as competative as UC's and other high powered institutions but the advantatge is you can really stand out and succeed here if you are an above average student. Also, the education is more based on getting you ready to be more technically proficient at your job as opposed to theory based academics. For art students looking for a small class size and a more well rounded education in other disciplines as well, then go here instead of say the Academy of Art in SF.

Great for these types of students

It's great for those who wish to commute, or those who wish to attend a diverse college with many great people.

    Tips for prospective students

Ask questions, lots and lots of questions. Believe me, they make everything much easier!

    Bang for the buck

    It's worth it, believe me.

    Am enjoying being here

I am truly enjoying it here at CSUEB. I live on campus, so I have had the chance to get to know many students, and become friends with some great people. I joined a sorority, and have gone to all the events the school has held. I've even joined up for the Orientation team this summer to help show students what a great school it is! GET INVOLVED! Believe me, it's worth all the time spent.

    Am learning a lot

I have learned a lot in the 10 weeks that I have attended so far. The class sizes are nice, and I haven;t had much trouble getting the classes that I want. I have done well my first quarter, and I think I owe credit to CSUEB for that,

Great for these types of students

This college is great for people who love being diverse. East bay is a very diverse campus, however it is not that big.

    Tips for prospective students

CSU East Bay is a great college. Every freshman is to pick a cluster which helps a lot with the general education program. Some people who picked the same cluster will be in some of your other classes. The advisers are very helpful. The General Studies class all freshman are required to take is a very assisting class especially to lost bodies. It is required because it shows what you need to do in order to be successful in college.

Great for these types of students

This school is great for students who like being in a diverse living situation and like bay area. It has a beautiful view of the bay both during the day and night. The location makes one forget that they are right in the middle of a city. You have the best of both worlds at East Bay.

    Tips for prospective students

Be open to many new things, this school is in the heart of the bay area which has much diversity and new things around every corner. Be willing to dedicate time to your studies, this school is on a quarter system which is faster paced than the average semester system. Get involved, there are tons of opportunities for you to try things and keep busy.

    Am enjoying being here

Many things to do, located in the heart of the bay. Great greek organizations, fabulous view of the entire bay area.

    Am learning a lot

Interesting classes, nice staff, small class sizes. Budget cuts affecting stuedents ability to enroll in classes and get classes they need

Great for these types of students

Its important to be positively aggressive! Don't forget why you're at school, and be willing to network and speak with your professors. The ratios are good enough at this school to mingle with professors and they will often remember your name, which is not always common at other schools!

    Tips for prospective students

GET INVOLVED!!! There are so many different activities to get involved in on campus and it is a great way to meet people.

    Bang for the buck

Any CSU is experiencing lots of fee hikes with the current CA situation, but the tuition is still reasonable compared to other types of schools.

    Am enjoying being here

I love the classes offered, and registering on time, I've been able to get the majority of classes that I want. Some CSUs are only giving students one or two classes.

If your looking for a place to just go to school, this is the place. The life on CSUEB isn't like other school. Students just go about their business and go to class. You want to be involved in campus life? Join a Fraternity/ Sorority. I joined Delta Chi and my life on CSUEB couldn't of have been any better without the guys i call brothers.

    Tips for prospective students

If I could give a tip, I wish someone said this to me, Do not Procrastinate on homework and always pay attention. Leave fun for last and school first. You puts your homework aside and party, the year will go fast but you will not accomplish what you have told your self to accomplish.

    Bang for the buck

School there has been increasing tuition but it is still cheaper than other school like SDSU and any UC school out there.

    Am enjoying being here

I lived in the dorms for my freshman year. The dorms there are seemingly brand new and feel like your living in a hotel. At others schools, students are cramped and don't have space to fit all of their belonging. At Pioneers highs residents halls you are given help in all angels and the RA's (Residential Assistants) always try to make it feel like home.

    Am learning a lot

At this school i have been learning a lot. Students just need to know their priorities and not procrastinate on their work. If student do their homework and pay attention in class, school will go by fast and you will absolutely pass the class with a top notch grade.

Anyone wanting a smaller school and/or a cheaper school but still a quality education. There's no football team, so football players should avoid this, naturally.

    Tips for prospective students

In addition to taking a campus tour, make sure to take a day to tour the individual department for which you plan on majoring with. You can sit in on classes and get a real idea what your college experience is going to be like! Seriously consider whether you want to live in the dorms or off campus (assuming you won't be staying with parents still), and work hard to get scholarships - the more you get, the easier your time at ANY college will be. Read lots of reviews, and find out for yourself how everything is at the school to make sure it's a good fit for you.

    Bang for the buck

College is always expensive. But as long as you have some financial aid, you can probably get by fairly easily here. It's one of the cheaper schools to attend, even with rising tuition. I feel like I'm getting a quality education, especially in my chosen discipline (music). The quarterly parking permits are about $130 as of the time of this writing, so they are fairly expensive, but a lot cheaper than buying a day pass for $8 every day you have classes. Living off campus, the total cost of living/school combined (for me) is about $20,000, including rent, bills, etc.

    Am enjoying being here

The campus is always very clean, and they just built a gym (with Jamba Juice!). There's also a small rec center near the library (and Starbucks). The Union is a great place to hang out whether you're studying or not. Overlooking the city and the bay is nice, especially at night as you're coming down the hill. Students and staff alike are very friendly, and it's easy to feel at home here. I've always been a fairly shy person, but have made many good friends here. It's close to downtown Hayward, so there's good food nearby if you have a lunch break, or if you want to take a day trip somewhere, places like Santa Cruz, Monterey, and San Francisco are all close enough that you can do so.

    Am learning a lot

The professors are all extremely caring about your studies and your overall well-being, and encourage you to visit them outside of class if you need help on anything. Class sizes are typically very small, so you can get more one-on-one attention if you have questions about anything. There's a good variety of classes to take for GEs, so aside from the very specific ones (like taking public speaking, math, and English classes), you can take more interesting classes for your GE credits, such as American Indian Oral Literature (definitely worth taking, by the way).

Great for these types of students

very boring ones. Mainly a commuter school no school spirit and no fraternity houses, no good parties. Just not fun!!!

    Tips for prospective students

    Do Not Come Here!!!

    Bang for the buck

Heck no the laundry room sucks, all the machines take your money and dont work correctly. You pay 10,000 dollars to stay in a room that isnt worth it. You are stranded on a big hill, it cost like five hundred bucks for a parking permit. It just isn't worth it. Taking the bus sucks, bad area and crazy people. the roads are always crowded!! Do not come here you will regret it.

    Am enjoying being here

I live on campus and I must say it is so boring!!! The food in the dining commons is disgusting, i ate it for a week and felt the diabetes running through my veins. Do not come here, you will regret it.

    Am learning a lot

The teachers are ok, some are so boring and rude its crazy.

Great for these types of students

Students who want diversity, small campus, and smaller classes.

    Tips for prospective students

For students coming to East Bay, I recommend joining a club or organization. It makes college life more exciting and makes you feel like you belong somewhere. Also don't be afraid to ask questions. There are many helpfully places on campus for students and if you don't ask you might even know they are there.

    Bang for the buck

Sometimes I feel that I am not getting all the classes that I want to pay for. I wish there was more availability for some classes, but for the most part it is fair.

    Am enjoying being here

It is quite nice being a dorm student. You live on campus and have a meal plan to the dining commons that are right next to the dorms. The overall experience so far (1.5 years) has been pleasant.

    Am learning a lot

Here at CSUEB I have been studying quite a bit. I wasn't sure what major I wanted so I explored a bit my freshman year. I learned many various things. Other then academic skills, I learned a lot of life skills that helped me grow as an individual from living on campus.

This school is good for everyone.

    Tips for prospective students

If you plan on staying on campus, get a car. Be prepared for the Dining Commons. Don't spend your flex dollars too early. Use ratemyprofessor.com Go to the basketball games.

    Bang for the buck

The Recreation and Wellness (RAW) is pretty snazzy. It was added last year. It's a free gym for students. And there's Jamba Juice inside. I think if you utilized all that the school has to offer you could easily get your money's worth.

    Am enjoying being here

This school has its ups and downs. I enjoy it when there are things to do on campus, but when there aren't things to do on campus it can be pretty lame. Unless, of course if you have a car because then you can leave when you are done with class. I enjoy the diversity at the school, there's a little bit of everyone there.

    Am learning a lot

If you get the right teachers, you can learn a lot from the them here. I have also learned a lot of things outside of the classroom, that I would have never learned if I hadn't attended this school.

    Tips for prospective students

Make sure you know what you want to major in and also check and see if financial aid is covering at least 70% of the costs.

    Bang for the buck

East Bay is very expensive but most colleges are I wouldnt say it is worth all the money that it is.

    Am enjoying being here

I like being here its is some partying and lots of peer pressure but just focus on school and everything will be fine.

    What to do for fun

well if your involved in sports, you have your games. but you can also attend the football and other sport games. plus if your in a club or know someone that is in a club then you will be able to go to parties. like fraternity parties.

    Food and Dining

there is a lot of places to go eat in hayward. there are restaurants to even a jamba juice. you don't ever have to really worry about finding a place to eat.

    Dorm Life

well i don't live in a dorm, but i've heard the dorm life is pretty fun. you can meet a lot of new people. those people end up becoming your friends and colleagues. on top of that if you and your roommate have the same classes you could work on homework together.

    Academic Rigor

the academic class are pretty hard. what also makes it hard is the fact that there is a lot of students in one classroom. in a lecture class there will be hundreds of students and only one professor.

    Tips for prospective students

i suggest that you take college seriously. that college is very different from high school. also that if you want to further your education you must be dedicated. in college it is all about determination, dedication, and taking your education seriously.

    In three sentences

well i actually go to the smaller campus in concord but i know that the hayward campus is really big, and the classes are pretty huge but its a great school. there are a lot of fun clubs you can join there and there are a lot of activities to do over there. its a very lively campus.

    Campus Safety

There are patrol officers every 15-20 minutes of walking and cars are driving or parked in various areas that are deemed dangerous. There are always officers around the dorms and parking lots. Their office is located under the library and will do free engravings on your possessions.

    Greek Life

I'm not interested in Greek Life.

    Clubs and Activities

I actually didn't attend most clubs, but most of them hold great little shows around campus.

Great for these types of students

Anyone who likes a stable environment should attend here. Since it's up in the hills, it's hardly ever too loud until the garbage men come and it's secluded. The library is huge and is even more a nicer place to study or take a nap. I'd enjoy the walk to class since you always have a nice view. Since it's secluded, the sports areas that I mentioned earlier are also quiet and even cleaner than most other local places.

Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus

They do host some larger events. Last year, they had a giant blow-up obstacle course and a car-crushing exhibition for prevention against drunk driving and promotion of keeping good health. Dances are held, but aren't really worth going if you don't like today's dancing trends. There has been two consistent booths that set up in front of the bookstore; a popcorn stand and jewelry stand. They're both pretty cool and the popcorn is really delicious and cheap for something naturally homemade. Behind the campus, however, and even further up the hill is a Bronco Billy's and the pizza there is amazing.

    Bang for the buck

I adore the view and there are hills behind the dorms that make a great hiking trip. There are other areas that provide a different viewpoint of the bay and can give great inspiration to those interested in photography. The Student Health Center is always nice and quick if you schedule ahead and come early. They also sell less-priced movie tickets!

    What to do for fun

There's a GameZone that has three pool tables, video gaming cave, Foosball, and plenty of tables for you to do anything else. There is a separate building that lets you rent board games and the like for free and also has a pool table. Both areas have a random piano, if you'd like to practice or just fiddle around with. There is also a gym for students with an indoor track, basketball, badminton, all the works. They also, like the GameZone, have both Wii video games and board games for you to borrow. There are fun monthly events where you can win prizes (i.e. free GameZone access or parking permit for the quarter) or get free massage sessions. Most of the grass areas near the bookstore are perfect for playing sports, but the soccer fields and tennis courts are more behind the store and are sometimes quite hidden. I didn't realize there were tennis courts until someone pointed them out to me!

    Food and Dining

They try to make things healthy or attempt foreign dishes which are semi-edible, but breakfast time is the best and once in a while, they'll have special foods. Dining hours are, however, a little strange (i.e. breakfast ends at 10am, lunch starts at 12pm, dinner ends at 7pm.) Their frozen yogurt machine is constantly breaking though. There are other places to eat on campus; Starbucks, Panda Express, Subway, a Bistro, and The Pod which is similar to a 7-11, and the bookstore has a back area that also sells snacks. The lines are pretty fast, even if they look long.

    Dorm Life

Freshmen dorming is the worst if you don't find someone you know to dorm with. You're stuck with 7 other people and that can be hectic and personalities will crash into each other. It is still worth it because you'll meet people and can request them to be your roommates for next year, where it's only four people in an apartment.

    Academic Rigor

It's definitely tough, some teachers are getting tired of students who don't care to attend class and won't try on quizzes, but will demand an explanation as to why they are failing. Visit them sometimes though, they like a good conversation with a student once in a while and makes them feel like their teaching is actually invested in someone who wants to learn.

    Tips for prospective students

Find friends you can trust and don't spend all their time complaining about their campus job or other people. Make any effort that you care about school than gossip or calculating how many points you need to pass a final.

    In three sentences

The campus is beautiful and has a great view over the bay. The staff are hard-working and kind, despite the overwhelming work. Some students need to relearn their values on education.

Great for these types of students

Great for people you who live near by, but don't want to leave home for college. Great for someone who want to live in a new and diverse environment.

    Tips for prospective students

East Bay is a great school. The have a mentally of putting their students first and help them get ready for the real world. you start in the freshmen cluster to help you start out on the right path. This is beneficial for people who have no clue what they are doing. So be open mind, don't be afraid to take risk, and enjoy the opportunity you have.

    Bang for the buck

It very worth it and affordable for everyone.

    Am enjoying being here

I lived on campus for my first year and i loved it. You really to know and meet a lot of people. It was also convenient when waking up for class and there are areas in the dorms to study in silence. I also joined a fraternity and made long life friends. Everyone is really friendly and accepting and is easy to get involved on campus. Also East Bay is in the heart of the bay area so going to the city is an easy drive.

    Am learning a lot

There are ten weeks a quarter. Despite the small class size, it is beneficial for student because it gives the student the opportunity to build a strong relationship with their professors and fellow classmates.

    Am enjoying being here

Although there is not too much campus life, it is getting better. There is a lot to do around the area.

    Am learning a lot

Most of the professors put pride into their duties as your instructor. They will take the time to get to know each student, and the small class sizes help. The professors will give you the effort that you give them.

    Campus Safety

there are phones throughout campus that students can use to summon police or even taxis to the rescue should the students ever feel in danger, or scared for whatever reason. the police station is on campus, there are lights all over campus so that night time is not dark, and there are different numbers that you can remember and call if you ever need help or find yourself in danger at any time.

    Clubs and Activities

from dance, to art, to self defense clubs and activities, all students are welcomed and encouraged to take part in clubs that they are interested in. there are clubs specific to majors, interests, needs and desires. students can even create their own clubs after going through a bit of paper work, then they are set to have their group, get assistance with funds, and make the east bay experience more enjoyable.

Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus

fir sine idd reason, there are various fountains on campus, it's sort of interesting.

    Bang for the buck

a priceless peice of information about east bay is the view. whether you take a look out over the bay in the day or the night, you will be blown away.

    What to do for fun

east bay always has something going on whether it is on campus, or nearby. there are fraternities and sororities, various clubs that have meetings and events through out the week, and sports teams that have games. we have homecoming, parties to welcome freshmen, free week at our exercise centers where students can take fun and active classes for free, and various performances!

    Food and Dining

i love panda express and eating little snacks so east bay has me covered. they have a bagel shop, starbucks, panda express, subway, a burrito place and much more such as convinient stores. in convinient stores you can buy fruits or vegetables, sandwiches, chips, juice and candy to go, as well as food for your dorm. there is food everywhere, so i never complain because the quality and service are high.

    Dorm Life

i don't live in the dorms, but i do notice that people who do really enjoy being so close to other students because they feel comfortable, and make friends easily because they are always surrounded by others, and participating in activities together.

    Academic Rigor

the professors are each very experienced and engaging (every one that i've had), and they love to learn about the new students, build relationships with the students, and help their students.

    Tips for prospective students

be yourself when you're on campus because being unique is an advantage, and being different contributes to the richness of the campus. also, try to stay on top of your work and utilize what your school offers, especially if it's free!

    In three sentences

east bay is very diverse which always creates a fun experience. the students are each surrounded by different cultures, backgrounds and different perspectives, so it's very interesting to observe and talk to different students. the professors are amazing at what they do, which makes the learning experience at east bay rich and worthwhile; students want to go to class.

Great for these types of students

    large variety of ethnic diversity.

    Bang for the buck

the school is a great school, however for the rating, it is too expensive, it would be a last resort option, but certainly not one to regret.

    What to do for fun

school provides a lot of athletic and social activities both on campus and off campus.

    Food and Dining

wide variety of all sorts of food and dinning options. they have food stands such as bagels and starbucks, subway and panda express. their dinning commons is designed as a buffet, with a variety of healthy foods and fast foods.

    Dorm Life

not very fun, the school accepted more freshman than they could house therefore some were placed to live in study rooms, or in the international dormitories.

    Academic Rigor

has many opportunities, but the student is the one who can take advantage of their full potentials.

    Tips for prospective students

ensure that you complete every thing ahead of time or on time, the school takes a great amount of time because it is so large.

    In three sentences

the school environment is really good, however the overall organization and process if very complicated and very frustrating for a student. the school is very fun and has plenty of social and academic opportunities, but the advertisement for the education opportunities is very poorly. the opportunities available are not made aware to the students, the staff seems very busy and often very stressed.

    Campus Safety

They have a pretty good safety patrol right on campus so its close by they can get there quicker.

    Clubs and Activities

I heard the basketball team is pretty good and they don't have a football team.

    What to do for fun

They got a gym full of different things and also they have a room were you can go to hang out and just relax with friends.

    Food and Dining

They have like a buffet in the cafeteria and it's very clean and organized nicely.

    Dorm Life

I only stayed in the dorm rooms for one night for orientation and it was very comfortable.

    Academic Rigor

Straight A's is what I'm going for so tons of studying and keeping my head in the books.

    Tips for prospective students

Be determined. Be organized. Stay on top of everything. Keep up with important dates that they give you.

    In three sentences

They are a good school so far from what I've seen. They don't return phone calls that much, so you will have to just keep calling them. Last, but not least they have a very positive attitude on campus.

    Campus Safety

The administrators would inform the students in email or in phone for emergencies. Campus Safety is also written in the syllabus from every class. i t is good to inform one about Campus Safety in email, phone and in the syllabus so one could be aware of it.

    Greek Life

I have never been involved in a Greek Life

    Clubs and Activities

I would not know how to rate the clubs and the activities from the campus since I have never been in one.

Great for these types of students

I have heard that this campus is good for people who are in special ed. I am a special ed person and my teacher told me that the campus was good for me. Although I do not get the same help as I did in high school, I am working hard and getting good grades

Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus

I do not think I share any unusual traditions or locations on campus.

    Bang for the buck

I try to be very careful about money. I rarely buy anything because I get worried that I might become reckless by buying a lot of stuff. I do not have a job so I depend on my financial aid money and my parents.

    What to do for fun

I play the piano and draw pictures for fun. Sometimes I like to do a 30 minute jog. Also I like to listen to music in my iPod for fun as well.

    Food and Dining

There are stores in the campus such as Starbucks. It is great but sometimes I would bring food from home. I would try not to spend too much money on food.

    Dorm Life

I do not live in dorms

    Academic Rigor

If I ever have a hard time in one of my assignments, I would contact my teacher in email, call them or make an appointment to meet them. I easily get frustrated when I am confused but sometimes i would feel like I can finish my work. Although I do try my best to understand it first and if I do not, then I will ask someone to help me on it.

    Tips for prospective students

My tips for prospective students is to work hard to get good grades and sign yourself for classes on the first day so that you could avoid being on the waiting list. Also try to write some notes so that you could review it for a test or a midterm. Another tip would be to try paying attention to the teachers because you might lose important information.

    In three sentences

California University East Bay is a beautiful college. I am happy to be in this college because my teachers help me a lot in my homework. Since I have been in this school, I have felt confident because I have done some of my homework by myself.

    Campus Safety

Excellent safety during school hours, but not safe after dark according to school sources. The surrounding city is similarly wonderful and filled with options during the day but not a safe place after dark.

    Greek Life

Many options available on campus but none I have participated in.

    Clubs and Activities

More club and activities than can be counted. Extensive school resources for clubs and backed entirely by the school administration. Plenty of funds for club activities and programs.

Great for these types of students

Excellent for commuter students but does offer a variety of options for those seeking the on campus dorm experience.

Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus

    None known.

    Bang for the buck

Excellent bang for your buck. The teachers pack information into every moment and utilize many electronic options.

    What to do for fun

Many options for fun in the surrounding bay area, but the immediate area around the school and the school property is not the safest for hanging out after dark.

    Food and Dining

I have never eaten in the dorm associated cafeteria, but the on-campus options for students living off campus are awesome. The school is building and updating the food options every year. There is a Starbucks and Einstein's Bagels among their offerings.

    Dorm Life

Unknown. I have never lived in the dorms.

    Academic Rigor

Once you decide on a college degree pathway, the work gets progressively harder with each level of classes that move you closer to your degree, but they also get more interesting and specific to your interests.

    Tips for prospective students

Do your homework. Have your paperwork ready and a plan prepared prior to meeting with the school. Be ready to work hard and communicate with your teachers when you need help and they will help you.

    In three sentences

This is a wonderful school with a supportive staff. The teachers want you to succeed. I would recommend this school to people who are serious about pursuing their degree, not those still looking to explore their options.

    Academic Rigor

The academic policies are mostly the same as other colleges. There is no plagarism tolerance. Grades are given based on what is achieved in the class.

    Tips for prospective students

A tip would be to get help from advisors and career counselors if you are not sure on where to start!

CSUEB offers over 40 different extracurricular activities. I will be joining the cross country team on an athletic scholarship. It will be fun going to this school, if you make it that way.

    Food and Dining

The Dining Commons is great! It is an all-you-can-eat buffet every day. Meal Plans are offered for those who enjoy eating until they get bored!

    Dorm Life

The dorms are very nice. There are about 8 rooms in the freshman suites, which includes a kitchen. I definitely recommend staying in the dorms, if you can afford it. Another option is off-campus living near the school.

    Academic Rigor

CSUEB is nationally known for its freshman cluster program. This program helps freshman students make the transition from high school to university, along with other classmates.

The dining commons are great but the food becomes old if you eat there everyday. Panda Express, Subway, Raging Burrito, and the bistro are all options for hot fresh meals while the P.O.D store and bookstore are options for snacks and quick refrigerated meals.

    Dorm Life

    Amazing new dorms.

    Academic Rigor

GE classes are fairly easy but major classes suddenly become very difficult in comparison.

    Tips for prospective students

    In three sentences

California State University East Bay is a great public school with a small school feeling. Classroom sizes are small, teachers have regularly scheduled office hours, and there are more activities than ever on campus for students to participate in; the newest addition is the Recreation and Wellness center, a on-campus gym. What to do for fun

The Recreation and Wellness gym facility is state of the art and there are a lot of workout classes. There is a pool that is available 12-2 for free swim. Bands play on campus sometimes. It's in the Bay Area. If you have a car, the options are unlimited: hiking to theater, surfing to stadiums. If you don't have a car, public transit is available, but not everywhere and not late.

    Food and Dining

There is an adequate, but not substantial, diversity of food on campus. The lines are long at times at the places outside of the dining hall, because there aren't many. The choices could be a little better. But there is a Starbucks right next to the computer lab and a Jamba Juice in the gym complex!

    Dorm Life

The dorms look nice from the outside. There are single room options for upper grads. The complex looks really new and slick. I live off campus, but I hear there is limited ventilation and it can get hot. There is a large base of commuter students.

    Academic Rigor

The courses are challenging enough, depending on the instructor. I think that the course loads are appropriate for the degrees.

    Tips for prospective students

Anything information about the school is accessible on the website pretty easily. The Concord Campus has very few options, so it is really about Hayward. Some services can take a very long time (read: multiple quarters) to process because of staffing. Don't be patient, be persistent.

    In three sentences

The education is proficient. Since the budget cuts, sometimes it is difficult to get required classes. The staff is informed and helpful in all departments: teaching, advising, and financial aid.

    Food and Dining

Decent, wish there we're more options.

    Dorm Life

I have no first hand experience, but from what I know the dorms are new. They are like suites, four bedrooms to a suite and two persons per room. Then there are two bathrooms, a small kitchen, & a living room space. All the floors are co-ed as well. So far according to my friends who dorm it has not been too bad.

    Academic Rigor

I thought that most of the professors on campus were fair, yet tough.

    Tips for prospective students

    Food and Dining

The school is on a hill, which gives you a wonderful view of the bay area. The campus size is just perfect, the longest distance you have to walk between the two farthest buildings on campus is approximately 10 minutes. CSU East Bay is the most diverse school I have ever seen and the average class size is probably about 30 students!

Great for these types of students

Great for commuters, and students who want a diverse campus!

Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus

There is Peer Mentors at school who are designed to be able to help/mentor new students.

    Bang for the buck

This is one of the cheapest state colleges in California and it is pretty worth it depending on how much you take advantage of resources.

    What to do for fun

There is nothing really to do here except for the gym and the gamezone. If you want to have fun, you should join a club/greek/organization.

    Food and Dining

There are a lot of restaurants around campus like Subway, Panda Express, Bistro, and more. And around the school also, the only problem is that you can't just walk to go to those places as it is down the hill

    Dorm Life

There are a lot of parties and events that take place. The dorms kind of suck because they don't really have a stove for you to cook.

    Academic Rigor

There are classes that really are interesting and some are really useless; it depends on your professors too.

    Tips for prospective students

If you are majoring in Business/Nursing or you just want to commute to a pretty decent school, then this is the school for you.

    In three sentences

The school has a very diverse group of students and professors. The classes here are very straightforward and there are a lot of resources here you can take advantage of. There is not really anything that much to do here except to join a club/organization.

    Campus Safety

I've never had any problems on campus and if I ever felt my safety was threatened the campus police were just a call away. They take care of problems swiftly.

    Greek Life

Greek life definitely is not as big as it is on the east coast of the country, but it is so fun and lively on the campus!

    Clubs and Activities

There are soooooo many clubs! If you don't see the club you are interested in, it is so easy to start one!

    What to do for fun

It's hard since the school is on a hill away from everything, but like i said earlier it is what you make it! You have to get involved on campus and make your own fun. Join clubs, throw events and have fun doing that. Have a game night or movie night at your dorm. Be creative!

    Food and Dining

There is Panda Express, the Bistro, Pizza, Raging Burrito, Einsteins, Starbucks, Subway and the Provisions on Demand convenience store. The food isn't the best and most of the options are not very healthy. The food options get old very quick and a lot of the food is very, very, very expensive on a college student budget.

    Dorm Life

I haven't lived in the dorms for 2 years, however, not much has changed. The biggest changes are to the rules because they are way stricter. The dorms are a great experience for your freshman year but it gets old fast! Too many people in your business because the community is small. There is a lot going on and it can be overwhelming when trying to study, but overall dorm life is mediocre.

    Academic Rigor

As a health science major, I feel that some of my classes are extremely difficult, as well as a few professors who are almost impossible to pass. Many classes are not that difficult as long as you are proactive about your work.

    Tips for prospective students

Student life is what you make it! Get involved on campus as much as possible, if you don't see something happening that you think should then make it happen yourself, and always check in with your counselors!!

    In three sentences

CSUEB has wonderful class sizes which is great, but some of the teachers are so terrible I would trade to a bigger class size if it meant a better professor. The school has great student services and great opportunities for help in all aspects. Also, the university needs a better student life because student morale and participation is drastic.

Great for these types of students

Commuter school. Get in and get out. If you're artsy for a different school. Science I would suggest other schools, but this school. But if you can't afford get awesome grades, network like crazy and intern. You can then attend a UC or more science bound school for you masters. If you business major I would take a look into this school.

    Bang for the buck

Definitely, really cheap. Regardless of what institution or colleges just focus and you'll get your money's worth. You'll run in to bad faculties and professors. And You'll have teachers who care. But the price tag is awesome especially living the Bay Area is expensive.

    What to do for fun

East Bay... lol. Maybe I am a bit pretentious, but I rather drive to the San Fran or San Jose to have fun. Oakland can be fun if you know where to hang out. In Oakland I don't go clubbing just lounge in downtown or Jack London. I guess it really depends what you like to do. If I am going to go clubbing I rather spend a little more in the city and San Jose. But Oakland have their cool spots: Ozumos, Mua, Luckas (forget how to spell), and many other spots. I just bar hop. And people get over yourself Oakland is not that ghetto. All cities have their bad side of towns and crooks. I mean San Francisco have tons of hobos.

    Food and Dining

    Cafeteria food... Enough said.

    Dorm Life

Hung out in the dorm, disgusting. I don't know how people function let a lone live in it. They use the same fabric for the carpet for upholstery for the furniture. I know aesthetic shouldn't be used to rate the dorms, but it is definitely not welcoming.

    Academic Rigor

Standard. Some professors demand more work than others. And there are some teachers you do minimal work. But as for my science classes Zoology is horrendous with Mr. Whats his face. You will study your butt off for him. He also annoying when you ask him for help and make you feel incompetent. Unfortunately, if you're a bio major and need to take zoology and animal physiology you are stuck with him. I forget his name, but he also has bad reviews on rate my professors.

    Tips for prospective students

Although, I didn't really care much about the school. I would make multiple visits and sit-in a few classes. Check out all the amenities even if you're a commute student. I mean you are going to spend the majority of your time here. I really enjoyed some of my bio and chemistry teachers. I like Dr. Le Duc, she is such a good professor. I recommend taking her for chemistry, she makes chemistry less difficult. She's a good teacher, but you would still show up to labs and do those stupid online homework to maintain your grades. But all in all I think Dr. Le Duc and my digital photography teacher made up for my mediocre experience here at East Bay. I would suggest this school if you're a liberal arts major or business major. I had friends that were in the business and art program here. The art department are lacking in money, sucks. Art is the first to get duped out of money in this budget crisis. Business program have more invested money into, especially since they have a new building and reputable faculty. I mean if you're not picky and just want your degree, just bite the bullet and finish here. It's cheaper than the other institution, especially since they lack a football team. Also, its faster, East Bay is a quarter system university. I am just exhausted with lack of classes, even in the science department. If you miss your window, than you're a**ed out and have to wait next year to take the class. I think this another issue, not necessarily East Bay, but public schools in CA. I think I rather spend a lot more money in a private institution and know I will get in my classes, small classes and have professors be more personable. Enough of my soap box.

    In three sentences

I like that school is small and not intimidating. But having say that it is not as hands-on or personal as I would like. It is more of a commuter school I wished I had chosen a bigger Cal State University over East Bay.

You are sure to have safety on campus. We have a put very own police station on campus patrolling often. If you have night classes there are phone booths nearby if you feel that you need an escort to walk with. We also have campus security walking around as well.

    Clubs and Activities

There are a plethora of clubs you can get yourself into! You have Asi, Street team, Catholic club, dance teams and so much more. It may be hard to choose from at first, but it'll keep you busy.

    What to do for fun

For fun I go to the on campus concerts we have or go to the RAW. The RAW I the gym we have on campus. From time to time I'll go in and play basketball, workout or watch others play basketball. I also go o the mini event s we have as well. Like the talent shows or the little things they have from time to time.

    Food and Dining

The food at the Dining Commons is good from time to time. You get your regular breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Everyday they cook different things for lunch and dinner. The only things that doesn't change is the grill station, the pizza station, or the sandwich station. Those are the main things that you can go to and get what you want. Outside of the DC they have Einstein Bagels, Subway, Panda Express, Starbucks etc. You also have the P.O.D and that's like a mini market that you can go to and buy milk, frozen goods, shakes etc.

    Dorm Life

Ah, the dorm life. I would suggest, like every other person, to live on campus your first year. Staying on campus gives you a chance to actually get involved with thing on campus and it also allows to do things on your own. Also you will meet a lot people when you dorm!

    Academic Rigor

Overall the academics here are great. You'll meet a plethora of people who will have the same major as you. My major is kinesiology and I've met so many different who have the same major. When you pick your major, you also pick a cluster. A cluster is basically a big group of kids who are on the same page as you and you guys travel together thought the year. Since I'm majoring in kinesiology, I pinked the cluster Bodies at Play. So basically your cluster corresponds to your major.

    Tips for prospective students

I would say manage your money and time! Those are the most valuable things that you have. Your time is of course the number one important thing because you'll have a plethora of things on your plate. Then comes your money, you'll need that to get by. You're going to have to buy your books and other little things that you'll need. Be sure to roam around and search other places and match the prices of your books to be sure it's at a reasonable price for you.

    In three sentences

I'd rate my school 9 out of 10. It's great school with a lot of opportunities for people. Also it's so much you can get involved in.

    Bang for the buck

The experience at this school is pretty much how you make it. While it is a commuter school, getting involved and attending concerts and such make it very inclusive.

    What to do for fun

The school is pretty much in the heart of the Bay area, there is a mall about 10 mins from the school, and San Francisco and San Jose are just a bus drive away.

Co ed dorms and apartments are available, which is pretty cool. The RHA has plenty of activities for students who live in dorms.

    What to do for fun

When I have free time i spend it in the gym, know as the RAW center. I either shoot some hops or work out, try to maintain my shape.

    Food and Dining

East Bay has a couple of dining and food restaurants here on campus. This school contains panda express, subway, and the POD. For the students living in the dorms, they have food facility called dining commons, its like a buffet.

    Dorm Life

I don't live in the dorms for two reasons: expensive and unavailable rooms. The dorms are absolutely expensive costing approximately $ 11,000 a whole school year, from fall to the end of spring quarter. Another reason i don`t live in the dorms is because their is so many freshmen in the school, who are planning to live on campus. If your panning to live on-campus do your dorm paper as fast as possible.

    Academic Rigor

So far, school is getting more difficult by each quarter. More work and testing compared to High School. This school prepares you well for your intended major.

Start on your homework early, don't procrastinate. Meet your major adviser monthly. Make friends, you will need them.

    What to do for fun

I travel around through the Bart and AC bus transit system to explore the Northern California Area since this is a new experience for me. I like it.

    Food and Dining

All freshmen through senior students, regardless if not wanting to have to purchase a meal plan. Its pretty much mandatory but hey you do get a pretty decent selection but the polar attractions in the DC (Dinning Commons) is the grills. They do introduce ethnic dishes such as Afghan dishes or say Asian cuisine, but please remember it is still Americanized to some extent. There also is a panda express, subway, and a great bistro that cooks pretty tasty burritos.

    Dorm Life

if you are interested in living in the dorm room setting, I recommend staying the one night at the dorms to get a first hand feel of what the school is like even at night.

    Academic Rigor

This school runs by quarter system, so you may find the classes just breezing by the school does offer programs to help students adjust. The professors here are not too bad but they do follow a grading system where there is no such thing as just a solid letter grade. Meaning depending on your percentage in the class you could being a letter grade attached with a minus or plus. For example. B+ OR A-.

    Tips for prospective students

I recommend visiting the school campus both during the day and at night that way you can get a since at what it is like during both periods throughout time. Attend a series of workshops and tours and as questions while on them. Never come unprepared. During these visits talk to the students of the school and get their opinion on student life, more specifically the ones that are not associated with working with the school. Those students who are not associated with working through the school, are more likely to give you honest opinions from a individual perspective and not work community.

    In three sentences

I give Cal State East Bay a 7 out of 10 with 10 being ranked the highest. This school is exceptionally beautiful in terms of scenery and diversity; however, there is room for improvement when it comes to school pride and student access to basic needs such as grocery stores and shopping centers for those who commute through bus and or walking as transportation.

The food at Cal State is delicious. I love the fact that they have an excellent variety of different food categories for students. They is also food for vegetarians, healthy choices and well greasy yummy food. I'm sure anyone will enjoy the food.

    Dorm Life

Dorm Life is absolutely fun. You get to enjoy the room with roommate/s and enjoy their company. They have such nice restrooms for the ladies and they are kept clean. They are just the right size for a dorm. There are privacy and people respect one another.

    Academic Rigor

Academic is taken seriously at Cal State. They want the best for students and make sure that they will be prepared for their career. They challenge students to a level that they are expected to pass.

    Tips for prospective students

Make sure if this is the school for you, to make all the deadlines scheduled. I suggest the students who are interested to attend the welcoming day for transfer and freshman. The campus is beautiful and I know for sure that future students will love it.

    In three sentences

I rate Cal State Eastbay a top rated school. The opportunities there are amazing, and the tour I recently took made me decide I would definitely attend. I love how attentive the counselors are and the during welcoming day for transfer students they were incredibly helpful.

The campus is up on the hill in Hayward, allowing it to be secluded. The only people who go on campus are students or people who live up on the hill who go running there.

    Greek Life

They have a few national sororities and a few national fraternities. The others are all local. They do have a top ranked sorority Alpha Phi.

Great for these types of students

Great for working students. Being the commuting school it is easily doable to work and attend there.

The campus is extremely safe and there are rarely ever any problems. Kind of creepy walking around at night, but if you get scared, the campus police is right there to offer you safety.

    Greek Life

Greek life is big at East Bay. I am not part of a frat, but I know people who are love it.

    Clubs and Activities

The clubs and activities are cool. I don't really partake in them, but they seem like if you apply yourself, you will have a lot of fun.

Great for these types of students

Great for commuter students, but also great for people who want to meet people from all around the country and the world. Great for people who want to have fun, but also have a great education.

Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus

The campus has great look out spots so you can see the sunset and see the SF Bay. Also there are huge lawns to play or chill on.

    Bang for the buck

You can get an amazing education for a very cheap price compared to other universities. I love the school and I am not falling into debt either.

    What to do for fun

The work out facility called the RAW is a great place to work out and hang out. Also there are a lot of sports you can do and a lot of activities you can partake in. I love to go swimming or just skate around campus.

    Food and Dining

Food is so delicious and the dining commons are beautiful. Only downside is it is kind of expensive.

    Dorm Life

I commute, but I heard the dorms can get pretty fun. I hear though that the RA's can be rude and internet isn't the best.

    Academic Rigor

You have to be determined to get great grades, but if you study and pay attention you can get by. Teachers are really nice and will work with you if you need them too.

    Tips for prospective students

Enjoy college and don't get stressed because that will make it unbearable. East Bay has a lot of great perks and the staff really does care. Always make sure you pick a teacher with good reviews so you have the best chance to succeed and try to get a friend or two in each class, it really helps you get through it.

    In three sentences

    Campus Safety

Orientation made sure to prepare students at every level by giving us the Campus PD number. Even though they patrol the campus frequently, I've never once used the number. East Bay is one of those schools where you just feel safe all the time.

    Greek Life

Not much to say. There are no Greek houses even though they are in talks of making that happen. But there are numerous Greek opportunities catering to many different people. It's pretty popular here!

    Clubs and Activities

Lots of clubs and organizations! They have everything that people could possibly be interested in like: books, the ocean, games. They have organizations catered to helping teachers in class and working office hours in the G.E department too. Many things for people to be apart of on campus. Keeps things busy and fresh around school.

Great for these types of students

Good for moderately quiet student not looking for parties. There is fun to be had but it's not extreme. If your an academic this is for you. If your artistic, then this school is definitely for you! If you love the San Francisco Bay Area but you want to save money, this is the place for you!

    Bang for the buck

Cheapest CSU in the Bay Area! Also it's on a giant hill overlooking the city and ocean connected to San Francisco. The view is heavenly. Great fully functioning gym: 24 hour access. Good library, fast internet there.

    What to do for fun

They have events like Spring Fest, which is a concert with different Bay Area artist. Fashion Shows, A lot of Play and Dance productions, and a couple of Parties on campus. If you're a hardcore clubber/partyer, just go off campus. That's what everybody else did.

    Food and Dining

Subjective once again, this depends on the person. For me, I liked the Dinning Commons food. It's not four star but it's appetizing! A lot of kids complain about it though. They also have Starbucks, Bagels, Panda Express, Subway, and a Burrito place on campus. Yum!

    Dorm Life

Now this is very subjective, it really depends on where your placed. The buildings are nice but they lack sufficient heaters, instead they are under the floor. Kids being kids means that the dorms get very dirty very soon. Even if your a clean person, chances are that you will have crap everywhere by the end of the first quarter. Choose roommates wisely... Con: The internet at the dorms is very poor. Go to the library or to the living room area. Pro: Comcast Digital Cable. Nice Picture

    Academic Rigor

As I mentioned before, East Bay is more of an academic school. Not much in the way of partying. The classes they offer are very unique and different. My major, which is somewhat obscure, was being offered there and that's why I'm attending East Bay. It's very easy to pass the classes as long as you stay on top of your work. To help students, they offer free tutoring in the library.

    Tips for prospective students

This school is a QUARTER SYSTEM!!! There are three quarters which last three months! When first go in the fall you'll have to change your classes again in three months so it goes by very quickly. A lot of students fall behind son make sure you hit the ground running if you go there.

    In three sentences

CSU East Bay isn't a party school by any means. This medium sized campus takes great pains in focusing on the academic aspect of it's programs. From programs dedicated to student achievement to great student leadership opportunities, East Bay is a hidden gem.

    Campus Safety

The campus looks safe and secure, but the only downside would be that in some places, you don't see campus security and it can be a problem. Other than that, the campus security usual roams around the campus greeting people, making sure they aren't in any kind of trouble.

    Greek Life

There are lots of fraternities and sororities that can be found on campus. They won't take you away from your studies a lot because everyone came to the university for educational purposes primarily.

    Clubs and Activities

Hundreds of clubs can be found and made on campus. Students will never be bored from the same kind of club again.

Great for these types of students

The campus is great for generally anybody who wants to go there. It gives everyone an opportunity to meet people who are just like themselves.

    Bang for the buck

The school is worth every penny because the campus offers students medical, concerts, free gym membership, Greek life, hundreds of clubs pertaining to anyone, food places, and much more. New things can be discovered each day.

    What to do for fun

There are a lot of things to do on campus that can be very fun. You can join clubs to create your own activities, join Greek life, attend the sports games, or even enter a video game competition. It's really up to the student on what they would like to do. The campus is always live and exciting. They even have cheap concerts at the school with popular rap artists and singers.

    Food and Dining

The food is very good and they have a lot of choices which is great considering the fact that they have to feed the whole campus. Downside would be that it can be addicting at times which can be bad to your weight. Make sure you don't overeat because it could take an unhealthy toll on your body. Good thing is that they do have salads and other healthy choices for those who are conscious of what they eat. The atmosphere is the dining hall can be noisy, but it's not too loud to the point where you can't finish studying while eating.

    Dorm Life

The dorms are very secure, safe, and spacious. Downside would be that as a freshman, and I believe sophomore, they have to room with 7 other girls/boys. That could sound like a lot of people inside one dorm. A plus would be that everyone would not be in anyone's way. It could also be a great experience in meeting new people.

    Academic Rigor

The classes are small and can hold up to 30 students. This is great because it helps the students learn more and get personal with their professor. The professors can be very helpful and make sure you pass or ace your classes. A downside would be that in the bigger size classes, you might have a hard time paying attention because it can fast pace and it can harder to get to know your teacher. Everyone is different though.

    Tips for prospective students

If students are still iffy on going to the campus, make sure they visit the campus. The campus always has something going on and they will enjoy themselves within 2 seconds of stepping on campus. Also, make sure you know what major direction you want to head in because it will be easier to decide your clusters for pre-advising later on.

    In three sentences

The campus is very big, beautiful, and entertaining. There is always something to do on campus besides attending your classes. Everyone on campus is very helpful to anyone who needs help or even looks like they need help.

    In three sentences

    Greek Life

CSU East Bay does have an active Greek Life on campus, which is good since the school is a big commuter school. Greek Life gives people who normally go from home to class and home again a chance to get out there and meet people and become involved with the university. I am personally in a sorority at East Bay and I love it. Being a part of Greek life adds extra fun to your time in college.

    Food and Dining

The food on campus is okay. The Dining Commons which is the main dining area for student who live on campus is open for all three meals a day, breakfast being the best. There is also a Subway, Panda Express, Jamba Juice, Einstein's Bagels, the P.O.D. store which is an on campus snack store, and Starbucks. Coming this fall they are even adding a Pizza Hut, Taco Bell and other places to eat. East Bay has a wide array of food options.

    Dorm Life

Living on campus at East Bay is a good experience. Besides the convenience of being able to walk from your room to class within 10 minutes, you have the ability to meet a whole bunch of new people. All the places to eat are right there next to you and you never have to worry about being late! Unless you sleep too much.

    Academic Rigor

The courses offered at East Bay are interesting to say the least. They have a wide range of classes to pick from. Besides your basic GE classes that you have to take, they have many other options like many exercise classes from yoga to kick boxing.

    Tips for prospective students

If you can, live on campus. Yes, it may be a bit pricy, but it gives you the opportunity to meet new people easily and build those life long friendships that people look for in college.

    In three sentences

East Bay is a good university, they offer many majors for prospective students, and is a big commuter school. It has a smaller campus than other universities, but that's a good thing, it means less time traveling between classes! I would give East Bay a 4 out of 5 stars overall, while it might not be for everyone, I am enjoying my time getting an education here.

Read, walk around. I hang out with friends and talk to them if possible. There are many hang out places in eastbay. Most people hang in groups, clubs, and more, it really depends on the person. There is a gym and it's free, yes you pay it when you pay your tuition, as well as the health center that offers many services(many of course are free services!!)

    Food and Dining

Could have better food, as well as healthier choices. There are some food places but they may take too long. Many of the things you buy are overpriced.

    Academic Rigor

Depends on the major or courses you take. There are many that are competitive majors like the nursing department where you have to get into the program. There are also professors many new professors that have also started at Cal state and have overloaded many students on things with hw, midterms and materials needed. For me it's a challenge with overloads of material, especially for the upper division courses.

    Tips for prospective students

You won't be given things, you will have to depend on yourself and be prepared. It's not high school where you carry over. It's pretty much an adult world where you are starting over fresh with no friends and a clean slate in academics. You will be responsible for your grades, study material and going to a counselor for advice or help. The will most likely not go after you, you will have to go to them as they have the answers and more. You will be thrown off as you are running back and forth for answers on things you may need as a junior or senior.

    In three sentences

It's a good school, financial aid is not that helpful since I am a financial aid student and I am having problems. Over all it's a good opportunity to go learn and start, as well as be prepared for what you want to do. Be aware that there might or might not be certain services you are looking for on campus. I am a pre-med student and I have to run around in circles trying to find help when it's not there or there are staff members that do not know what I need, even if I explain it to them. So just be careful and look for resources to help like EAOP, and the excel program on campus.

    What to do for fun

The campus has many events that happening every quarter. The school is now starting to allow food trucks on campus and other fun stuff. Off Campus, I go to the farmer's market on Saturday mornings courtesy of the free CSUEB shuttle, but there are also restaurants in downtown Hayward. There is also a movie theater with events held but RHA for new release movies. You can explore the outside of Hayward with a car or by BART. You can almost go anywhere in the Bay Area include the famed San Francisco. There is plenty of things to do, you just need to look for them.

    Food and Dining

For freshmen and foreign exchange students, the dorm food and dining is not so great. No kitchen means that the only food options are the dining commons or the fast food places on campus. Upper class-men on the other hand have a kitchen so they can add variety to the food they eat. Overall the food isn't terrible, it just the same kind of food everyday and it gets old.

    Dorm Life

For freshmen the dorm life is good. Besides the fact that there are eight people sharing one four room apartment complex without a kitchen. There are events to go to, friends to make, and a campus to explore. For foreign exchange students dorm life is not so good. Their set up is the same as the freshmen except there only roommates they have tend to be from the same country so there is little interaction between the exchange students and the other students living on campus. Upper class-men on the other hand can have a single room, a double suite, or a triple suite. Each of these means you share an apartment with four people but for single room you have your own room, the double means sharing one room with another person, and a triple means sharing a room with two other people. The apartment unlike the freshmen dorms has a kitchen which is helpful for food and dining.

    Academic Rigor

The academic rigor depends on the teacher. Some teachers do everything for the student except bubbling in the answers, where other teachers can actually teach and their classes are interesting.

    Tips for prospective students

Living on campus makes life really easy and convenient for full time students, however if living on campus isn't doable commuting to campus is not hard as long as you avoid the major commuting hours. For the freshmen: go to the classes, do the work, do not slack to much, and do not go crazy from the lack of parental guidance. Help is available if you need it with AACE and with SCAA. Get involved with something you feel passionate about. And last but not least, soak in the experience and enjoy it.

There is also Subway, Panda Express, Pizza Hut/Wing-stop, Taco Bell, Einstein's Bagels, and a Starbucks on campus. All of these are open during the week, but closed on the weekends. There is also a mini-market on campus call The P.O.D. This is open Monday-Saturday and closed on Sundays.

    Campus Safety

With around the clock police just minutes away and living on a hill you rarely ever feel as if your in danger. Except for the local dear and turkey, those animals are very common here.

    Clubs and Activities

Plenty of clubs and many Fraternities/Sororities. As far as activities that up to wether you live on campus or off campus since on campus activities usually happen every so often.

Great for these types of students

Students looking to get away from your families should dorm here and if you want to just graduate college with the least amount of expenses then this college if good to as long as you room off campus.

Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus

Watching midnight premiers is something that you have to do at least once. The university has special shuttle hours just for the premier movies a the local theater where many students go.

    Bang for the buck

It is definitely worth the money as long as you keep up on school work. This University is basically what you make of it.

    What to do for fun

Greek life is what most students do or party but the local cities have some good places to have fun such as the bowling alley in Fremont thats open till 2am and a laser tag place not to far. The nightclubs are also pretty good.

    Food and Dining

They have an all you can eat buffet literally next to the dorms which is open till midnight and has a wide variety of food. They also have a panda express, subway, pizza hut, and a taco bell. The only bad thing is the food gets old and you crave different food and the food other then the buffet is closed weekends.

    Dorm Life

It would be five stars but in all honesty the only time you are truly interactive with your fellow dorm mates is your freshman year. With many activities and easy access to others dorms there is plenty you can do for fun.

    Academic Rigor

This is school has a great Business department and is known for it's pre-nursing program but, if you are interested in becoming a nurse then you should know that most of the student who start off as pre-nursing end up changing major due to the rigor and competitiveness. The teachers give you the tools you need to pass all you have to do is grab ahold of those tools and use them.

    Tips for prospective students

I would recommend this University for students who only need a bachelors degree to start their career since its easy enough to obtain classes and you can pass your classes with flying colors as long as you actually go to them. Not only does it have a wide variety of classes but the online classes makes enough space to get a job. Also dorms are expensive I suggest living off campus after your freshman year.

    In three sentences

California State University-East Bay is a college where no matter where you come from you will be able to graduate and obtain a degree. Though school spirit is low in sports the university makes up for it with a good Greek Life. The school is on a hill so you don't have to deal with the noise from the city and still have easy access with the universities shuttle.

For instance, If you need a police officer to walk you from your classroom to your dorm, they can certainly do that! You simply contact them via phone, and they will meet you in front of your classroom.

What I particularly like about the on campus dorms, is that you get to know collages on a personal level. Essentially enjoying your on campus experience so much more.
