Categories Comments Great for these types of students Basically anybody that would love to get an education. The teacher to student ratio is about 1:30 except for some classes that are in lecture halls which contain about 100+ students.
Tips for prospective students Financial aid does tend to lag it a lot so it would be better for the students to check their GET every once in a while to check the disbursement dates and what you are being awarded. Like i said before you can also benefit from the services in the student union where you can get a free scantron and a blue book a day. Also the health center benefits students. If you ever feel sick you can always go to the health center and not worry about the cost being above your budget. Before choosing your classes always go on the ratemyprofessor.com to read reviews from other students.
Bang for the buck Cal state la's tuition is still pretty cheap. If anybody does go here then it is money well spent because students get a good education without the benefit of the doubt.
Am enjoying being here Aside from going to school here I also work on campus, so cal state la is like my second home. I enjoy being there and I love the fact that if I ever need a scantron I can always go to ASI and get one for free if I am ever low on cash.
Am learning a lot I am learning a lot. Many of teachers are helpful and enjoy having students take advantage of their office hours.

Categories Comments Great for these types of students L.A. is a big city, which means there is always something going on. There are also some cool places like the Staple Center, shops, clubs, and more. For me, I realized that I like visiting but not living there but that's also because I'm not a big city person. But if you are, then you'll enjoy it all that it has to offer.
Tips for prospective students If you decide to go here, make sure your financial aid is set. Make sure EVERYTHING is set: do your Promissory Note on FASFA Direct Loans, take the quiz on FASFA, and if you plan to live on campus, make sure you're on the plan where you pay every quarter and NOT every month. The housing department has three plans; 1, pay for the academic year, 2, pay quarterly, or 3, pay monthly. I did the monthly and so did the rest of my suite-mates; however, we should have paid quarterly. We all had troubles with our financial aid and by the time we got everything settled out, it was too late. Late fees became a daily reminder, especially for myself and I had to pay a lot of late fees. And when you have to deposit scholarship money to the cashier, you have to follow up on them because they are slow. I one time deposited a scholarship money and I found out they haven't processed it when my father called me and said that the scholarship money was going to be void if it wasn't used in 20 days. They've had my scholarship check for a month and I never knew that it wasn't processed yet. So I had to follow up on them and tell them that they needed to process it right away or else it was worth nothing. Also check your GET. It's really helpful.
Bang for the buck As far as tuition goes, it's very adorable. Housing, on the other hand, is another story. The housing cost much more than the tuition.
Did enjoy being here I have mix feelings about this. Basically, I realized the school wasn't for me. The campus was a bit too small for me and I would have enjoyed seeing a college football game but they don't have a football team. Also, I was constantly stressed out with financial aid because they are slow and confusing. When I thought I had everything done, I would receive a letter from the housing department saying that I haven't paid yet and was charged with late fees almost every month while I was attending the school. It was probably one of the main reasons I transferred out after the first quarter. But I loved my suite-mates very much. When I was faced with financial problem they were there to cheer me up. Also, you can get free scan trons and blue books at the student union. THAT was very helpful.
Did learn a lot I did learn a lot and the professors are very friendly. They are also not scary so don't hesitate to ask a question. A lot of them have a passion for their subject and if you don't understand the material, ask them. They will be happy to help you. It also shows that you care about your education and make you stand out in a good way.

Categories Comments Great for these types of students Students who wish to commute
Tips for prospective students BEFORE getting any classes talk to a counselor of your major, if you are undeclared we have general counselors for undecided majors located in the library Palm wing B. -Get a Planner and write down EVERYTHING, work schedule, classes, chores, time to study, meetings and deadlines for classes. -If you are undecided, go to your local library and check out a couple of books on Majors. Or the field you might be interested in. They usually list the years of schooling, degree required, type of place you will work in, competitiveness, salary and stress level. -Take advantage of the Writing Center, Career center, Tutoring, Research assistance, library, Financial aid office ect. Making appointments is easy and most of the time bumps up your paper up one letter grade -Its never too early to start looking in to internships that you might be interested in -Join an organization on campus. Since this is a commuting campus, its hard meet new people and stay in touch. Joining an organization is fun and beneficial because you start networking for future jobs and maybe even make a couple of good friends. It gives you another reason to get up in the morning and want to go to school.
Bang for the buck CalstateLA is not expensive compared to other schools but does not sell itself short due to the non-expensive tuition.
Am enjoying being here I am starting to see more and more diversity. A lot of students on campus are working toward making this school a top learning facility.
Am learning a lot There is great talent here, not only do you learn in classes but you learn from friends. Teachers are more than willing to help you out and if help is needed in any area we have the Writing center and math center. We have the career center which can help you in getting scholarships, internships, jobs.

Categories Comments Great for these types of students If you are a social butterfly, this is the perfect college for you.
Tips for prospective students Dorms : Move in with someone you know, because moving in and not knowing anyone, there's going to be alot of miscommunication and nasty people. School : DO NOT PROCRASTINATE !
Bang for the buck The tuition is reasonable and cheap. So that's a plus !
Am enjoying being here There are so many diferent activties and programs you cna join and participate in. There's always something going on on campus.
Am learning a lot The professors ther are so helpful, insighful, and dedicated to their careers.

Categories Comments Great for these types of students This university is great for students who may not be able to afford a really expensive university but at the same time wants good professors and a strong education.
Tips for prospective students Make sure you ask older students any questions you may have because the administration and teachers will not tell you much. Turn in your AP scores before registering or else you'll need to take it there and then get a permit to be allowed into that class, by then it might be full. Get involved in clubs and organizations as soon as possible.
Bang for the buck I have just begun here, but so far the professors are definitely bang for your buck. However, there could be more or a larger lounge because the Pit is often full and the tables have a long waiting list. There also aren't many fields for recreational physical activities such as ultimate Frisbee or other grass field sports.
Am enjoying being here I am definitely enjoying being here at this college. At first, I though I might not enjoy it because it is considered one of the worst CSUs but it actually has very good professors. Only thing that's an issue is the lack of information that the administration gives students on thing such as AP scores (you need to personally turn in your AP scores to the administration office even if you had college board send it.) There's a place called the pit which a lot of students spend much of their spare time in, playing ping pong, billiards, arcade games, and just talking to and making friends.
Am learning a lot I am currently attending my first year at this university in the mechanical engineering college and so far all of my professors have been highly qualified and informational for each class. There is even a class specifically for teaching you how to excel in college itself, Intro to Engineering (ENGR 150). Teaching you good study habits and skills needed to succeed.

Categories Comments Great for these types of students Los Angeles is simply put, A BIG CITY. you HAVE to be a city person to really be able to live there. I visited for a very long time and loved it but this was because i'm a total city person.
Tips for prospective students they take FOREVER to process you financial aid stuff so it would be smart to check every now and then if they have recieved everything that was required, ESPECIALLY if you are an non california resident.

Categories Comments Tips for prospective students GET INVOLVED! Even if you commute here you are not going to learn as much as you can if you just go to classes!!!! Join Student organizations and become active!!!! Oh and keep on top of your financial aid (they kinda lag it) and get to know your student government.
Bang for the buck For a quality education, the price is decent, however with the budget cuts, that may become a thing of the past so remember to fill out those scholarships!
Am enjoying being here The school generally has a nice feel to it, but there are parts that could use some improvement. The dorms are satisfactory and there are quite a few club events hosted by Hermanos Unidos. Of couse when things are a bit on the low on campus it is in the center of Los Angeles and not more than an hour and a half from the slopes, beach, desert, or Hollywood
Am learning a lot Most of the Things I learned here dealt with practical real-world experience that you wouldn't get in a lab alone. Most of my learning came from using the knowledge i learned in class and applying them to school organizations

Categories Comments Great for these types of students Students who like big cities would love this school. It is in the middle of Los Angeles and there are many things to do around campus.
Tips for prospective students Make sure to check GET for financial information. It tends to take a little bit longer for some students.
Bang for the buck The school has a much lower tuition fee compared to other CSU's and it is the same education so that is a plus.
Am enjoying being here The environment is friendly and there are many things going on every day which means days at CSULA are never boring. The activities are fun and very exciting.
Am learning a lot I love coming here. The teachers are great and very helpful. They try and help out in any way possible. Some of the classes are very large though, but for the most part you can get a full education here.

Categories Comments Great for these types of students This school is great for students on a budget, not to far from the Los Angeles area willing to commute, like a lively and diverse campus, live in LA and don't want to go to far, and/or students who are looking for a good education.
Tips for prospective students Prospective students should utilize all resources CSULA has to offer for freshman. I recommend getting into the Early Opportunity Program (EOP). This program gives you priority registration and also a grant.
Bang for the buck Although, tuition has been going up due to the budget crisis. Cal State LA still remains one of cheap California State Universities. So if your also focusing on cost when applying to colleges it's a place to consider.
Am enjoying being here There's much to enjoy on campus. From school sanctioned events to sports games, or even the Greek life on campus, or joining a club, there is always something to do on campus.
Am learning a lot I am a Biology major here, and although Cal State LA isn't a private school you do get very hands on with the professors. As long as you pay attention in class, take the time to study and talk to your professors during their office hours you will learn a lot.

Categories Comments Campus Safety i feel very safe on campus. there are a lot of police officers driving around, it makes me feel safe.
Greek Life none
Clubs and Activities no club nor activity , but i have seen them around and they are very active and nice.
What to do for fun there are many different things to do for fun. there is a place in the basement of the building university student union, and there is this room called the pit. here there are pool tables, tv, xbox, foosball, and even ping pong. here is the place where a lot of students go and have fun.
Food and Dining the food court on campus is amazing, there is a variety of food.
Dorm Life i do not have a dorm this year but i will soon. i wish to dorm and have that college experience. although i live 10 miles away from campus, its still a different environment. i have friends that dorm and they say its really wonderful
Academic Rigor this is a really good school. positive atmosphere.
Tips for prospective students i started on the right foot, i ended my first quarter with a good gpa. it was a gpa that i never accomplished in high school. i suggest to start with a good and positive mind each quarter. another tip is to do all the homework and turn in every paper.
In three sentences such an amazing school and campus. the professors i have had so far are very nice, friendly and very helpful. the campus is really big and there are many places to study, there is always a quiet place to study.

Categories Comments What to do for fun its impossible to be bored as a college student. your always busy or on the go. on campus you can socialize with friends in the food court. we have a game room in the cic upstairs. and down stairs if you are dorming, there is also a game room. i would rate it a 9.
Food and Dining we have a variety of fast-food restuarants to satify your apetite. el pollo loco, carl's junior, and sabarro. there are a lot more options but because there are so many i can not remember them all. if you pay for the meal plan living in dorms, the food is also great. i would rate it a 8.5.
Dorm Life living on your own is a great way to jump start the feeling of being independent in the future. you get a chance, based on your living arrangements, to live with 3-7 different girls. if its hard to find friends on campus, you start with your dorm mates, and expand from there. and right from class you can go home, rather than driving, waiting for a bus, or a ride, you can walk right down stairs. i would rate it a 8.5.
Academic Rigor it is critical at any college to maintain a good gpa. because it is a quarter system i must say it is fast paced. you must always stay on top of your work because you will fall behind very quickly. midterms are back to back, it seems like, because the term is so short. i would rate it a 7.
Tips for prospective students if you wish to attend here, just do the basic requirements it is to get into any college. good grades, mininum of 1400 on the sat's and take some ap classes if you really want to get noticed. this school, personally, was pretty easy to get into. my gpa was 3.2 and my sat score was a 1450.
In three sentences cal state la is a commuting school, therefore you really dont get the experience you would expect the 'college experience' to be like. its very diverse. you see all types of ethnicities from mostly california. the teachers here are really considerate. there not what high school teachers exagerated them to be. and its easy to meet friends.

Categories Comments Tips for prospective students Learn about the possible schools you want to attend and understand what you have to do to get there. Do no worry about paying for tuition because there are a lot of financial aid.
Bang for the buck The price for tuition is worth the education you receive. The CSUs do not cost as much as the UCs and what is the point of going to a school that will waste away your money for the same educations.
Am enjoying being here I have made a lot of friends here and I do not plan to go anywhere else.
Am learning a lot All of my professors has office hours in which I go to and they help me. The professor here will assist you in your studies and they will not turn you away.

Categories Comments Great for these types of students Anyone. This is a highly diverse campus that incorporates people from every corner of the Greater Los Angeles Area.
Tips for prospective students Get a part time job even if it means burger flipping but don't overwhelm yourself to the point that you can't work or study anymore.
Bang for the buck The CSU system is provides some of the cheapest university education in college, but that is because it is state supported. Since California is currently in a budget crisis the tuition is sky-rocketing. I only hope that I can graduate before I can't afford to pay the bills anymore.
Am enjoying being here I live in the dorms and I am a club officer so I get involved with a lot of the campus life. The people here love to hang out and have fun while still being successful.
Am learning a lot The material here is great! The classes can be everything from easy to hard depending on the student attitude. All the material is here and the teachers are more than willing to help you if you ask for it.

Tips for prospective students Go ahead and check it out ! You never know ! Cal State LA might be right for you !
Bang for the buck I like I mention before, it offers low tuition.
Am enjoying being here What I truly enjoy about CSULA, is its diversity. I truly get learn about other people's culture and see what i can learn from them.
Am learning a lot California State University is a great school that not only offers a wide range of subjects to study, but have smaller classes so that a student will be able to get most of what they are learning, and be able to get the know the instructor outside of the classrooms. Also, other great thing about CSULA, is that it offers its students low tuition.

Categories Comments Great for these types of students major party people. parties are insane! :D. But it is not a bad thing, people are also very studious, we know how to manage our time. Crazy parties, crazy memories. it's like van wilder.
Tips for prospective students Don't wait for the deadlines, as soon as something opens up, turn everything in asap. the faster you get stuff done, the better. so turn in all requirements as soon as you can.
Bang for the buck I've applied for financial aid, since Janury, it is now July, and don't know if I will recieve any aid. financial aid. dept, sucks.
Will enjoy being here Beautiful Campus, Beautiful Views, Beautiful Women.
Will learn a lot The reason I chose to come to CSULA is because it was position 131 in business schools, and moved up to position 115. This showed massive improvement in their business dept. So it seems like a good choice, but I will be transfering somewhere else in the future.

Categories Comments Tips for prospective students Never, EVER procrastinate. CSULA has a quarter system, which consists of 10 weeks each. 10 weeks to learn each subject! WHAT WHAT WHAT? Yup. It's true. So once you fall behind, you'll most likely never get up again. Also, talk to professors; as hard as it may be to believe, they're really human and they want to help you!
Bang for the buck As far as colleges go, CSULA isn't considered expensive at all. I feel lucky to have been accepted here otherwise I'd be working my butt off through school, and that would really suck.
Am enjoying being here I've made lots of friends since coming here and it's really brightening up my college experience. Also, the Student Union provides lots of fun activities and we actually got free ice cream once; it was melting but still tasted great.
Am learning a lot My professors seem to know everything because they answer every question I put out there without flinching. Some of my past teachers discouraged asking questions because they were afraid that they wouldn't know the answer but CSULA professors either know the answer or help you find it. I love it!

Categories Comments Great for these types of students Friendly, easy-going, go-getters, over-achievers, independent, high achievers, curious, young, old, commuters, live-on-campus, active
Tips for prospective students Find a major that involves something that you like to do or that you think you would be good at. If you don't know, don't fret. Once you start taking General Ed. classes you will begin to figure out the subjects you definitely do not want to explore and then those that you do. Explore the campus and don't be afraid to talk to people.
Bang for the buck CSU's in general are well worth it, because of how inexpensive they are. It does not matter what school you think looks the best on paper. What matters is that you pick a college that suits you and your needs. It is important to visit the college at least once and get a good feeling about the campus and the people. I am very happy with my choice because of my major, and the people in my department. There is no need to stress, because you are paying less than you would if you were to go to a private school or out of state school.
Am enjoying being here I was a transfer student coming to CSU LA and so I got used to the college environment pretty quickly. I am enjoying meeting new people in my major and talking to the professors. All the professors I have had I really enjoy. They have all been helpful and friendly. I also love getting to know people that have more life experience. There are a lot of commuters and older students.
Am learning a lot There is multiply opportunities to learn, not only from professors, but also from students you have classes with or are in the same major with. The people that go here are friendly and easy-going.

Tips for prospective students Apply early. there is a chance that you may not get accepted if you apply too late. Don't be afraid to include some of the clubs that you participated in during high school.
Bang for the buck right now the tuition fees are still pretty cheap, however the university is going to have to raise tuition fees by 5 - 10%. But CSULA's tuition fees are still some of the cheapest in the state.
Am enjoying being here I am definitely enjoying being here at CSULA. I is a very compact campus , so it is quite easy to get around the campus.
Am learning a lot The teaching staff at CSULA is great. I am definitely learning quite a bit here. I would recommend this university to everyone. :)

Categories Comments Campus Safety not the safest of campuses. on campus is ok but the area surrounding it isn't very safe.
Great for these types of students commuters.
Bang for the buck it is or was relatively cheep, but you get what you pay for.
What to do for fun not much. there is a lot in the area though being la and all but not much on campus.
Food and Dining there isn't a real cafeteria and the restaurants they have are expensive. over all the food is expensive.
Dorm Life i don't dorm, but there aren't many available/
Academic Rigor having the quarter system makes it go by fast so you never get bored. of course this also means that you are super busy.
Tips for prospective students it's more of a commuter campus so if your looking for that whole college experience this really isn't the place.

Categories Comments Campus Safety we have our own police department that is constantly patrolling the area. they can make arrests and do everything that a normal police department can do.
Greek Life there's so many fraternities and sororities on campus. we have an entire week every quarter where every single one sets up a booth on the main walk and shows you what they're made of.
Clubs and Activities there's every type of club imaginable on campus. if there isn't, you can make it yourself and be the president!
Great for these types of students this college is great for students who want to have a ton of friends and be in the middle of the action happening in los angeles.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus the hertzberg-davis forensic science center is a crime lab that the lapd uses to solve crimes, and its right here on campus. we also have our own personal police department; they can make arrests and everything.
Bang for the buck everything is definitely worth the money here, including tuition, dorm payments, and the textbooks from the bookstore.
What to do for fun there's always something happening on campus. there's clubs, sororities/fraternities, sports and a bunch of other things. there's also shopping centers and malls not too far away from campus.
Food and Dining there's a big food court with everything from el pollo loco to chinese to burgers, and the food is great.
Dorm Life there's always activities going on for those who live of campus, and the staff that works at housing is incredibly helpful.
Academic Rigor i'm in the honors college and they definitely keep you on your toes whenever possible. the classes are fun and challenging.
Tips for prospective students definitely come visit here before you accept this college as yours. its got a lot of stuff around, so it may or may not be your cup of tea.
In three sentences csula is fun and multicultural. they've got almost every major you could think of, and many you wouldn't. most of all, the professors are really helpful and actually want you to learn.

Categories Comments What to do for fun our student government holds many events on campus and also off campus. they vary but it's something to take advantage of. there is also a game room on the basement of the student union.
Food and Dining there are a lot of fast food here, but they do have a fine dinning restaurant called the university club. they have really good food and have healthy options.

Bang for the buck my estimation for the 4 years in college money wise is around 24,000 which is not bad compared to other universities, however, you do feel the downside which is quality of education, old buildings.
What to do for fun hit the gym or go into the student union.
Food and Dining they have good restruants.
Dorm Life do not live in the dorm but from what i've it heard it seems a bit too small.
Academic Rigor it's not too difficult you just need to learn how to study on your own. material isn't hard as you would think prior to going to college.
Tips for prospective students get in the eop program. study the assigned textbooks and attend the lectures and you will do well.
In three sentences california state university is an overall good university. the campus itself isn't big or a state of the art kind of school. the quality of education varies from professor to professor but for the most part they are well informed and full of knowledge. classroom sizes are sometimes huge and trying to enroll in a class is difficult due to budget cuts.

Categories Comments Campus Safety this school is not very safe. there are always cars being reported stolen, and there are armed robberies in parking lots. i carry pepper spray with me as a precaution. i am used to it now.
Great for these types of students college, in general, is only for those who can afford it, and for those who cheat the system and receive financial aid.
Bang for the buck i unfortunately barely have enough money to pay for tuition. my father has to take money from his retirement savings.
What to do for fun i do not find school fun. i go there to advance my education, not for fun.
Food and Dining food on campus is good in the cafeteria.
Dorm Life i do not dorm at school, i cannot afford it. i do not qualify for financial aid because they do not understand my situation unfortunately.
Academic Rigor i feel that with enough studying, no amount of school work should be too difficult. i feel very confident walking in to tests, because i am always well prepared. i work very hard for my grades, considering i cannot afford to fail a class.
Tips for prospective students make sure you have enough money to pay for school.
In three sentences i would give it a 6 out of 10. the professors are not that good at teaching, at least for the psychology department.there are not enough classes offered, and tuition is very high. i do not have enough money to pay for quarters sometimes.

Categories Comments Campus Safety The parking lots could be a bit more secure, especially in the late afternoon and evening. Security is visible on campus but not at the parking facilities which is where they are greatly needed since they are a bit dim in the evenings. You could always request a security escort to your car if you feel you need security. A tip is to walk with a group of friends or near a group of people heading in the same direction.
Clubs and Activities There are several clubs and organizations established at CSULA that you may consider joining that pertain to your major. You can get information on these honor societies and clubs at your advisor or major offices.
What to do for fun For fun you may hang out at the student union or at the lawn area where you are sure to find a group to socialize with and relax between classes.
Food and Dining There are plenty of places to choose from to dine or snack at. The food court has a variety of places to munch at varying from burgers to sushi. The cafes on campus are also great spots to get your caffeine fix like that at Dolcini by King Hall.
Academic Rigor CSULA has offered great classes in my major; psychology. The professors challenge the students and offer a great range of information. There are lots of observations and research that are required but they only enhance the learning experience.
Tips for prospective students Make sure you keep copies of all your paperwork that you turn in to admissions and the financial aid office because you may need them in the future since sometimes offices misplace paperwork. Always pay your tuition on time and keep alternative schedules available since classes are limited. Arrive at least 30 minutes prior to your class start time to find good parking.
In three sentences CSULA has been a great educational institution which offers many classes in lots of academic areas. Class sizes can sometimes be big for general education courses but they get smaller as you get to your upper division major courses. Food and Dining Unless you have a car the only dining out you youll be doing is Pizzahut delivery. Theres surprisingly not very many restraunts near the school , their all about 15 minute drive away, there are a few run of the mill fast food places atr their food court and nearby
Dorm Life although this school is known as a commuter school it actualy has a pretty livley dorming community. Lots of people, parties and pizza dinners. Its a great experience for students living on their own for the first time. The price of dorms have increased a bit in the last couple of years but its still reasonable.
Academic Rigor I can only speak for my department, Natural and social sciences, and i'de say its pretty rigouress. The average student takes 5 years rather than 4 to graduate.
Tips for prospective students plan your classes carefully. Dive right into your major classes because their often required in long sequences. Mix your more difficult major classes with your easier general education classes. This way you wont be stuck with all your intense hard classes you last two years.
In three sentences This school is a diamond in the rough because you will have to deal with the usual hassles of obtaining the classes you need and constant budget cuts as is the case with most CSU's at this point. However the faculty are absolutly great and come from some pretty amazing backrounds you wouldn't expect at a CSU. As long as you take advantage of the schools full resources and Speak with your academic advisor regularly you'll enjoy more diamond and experience less rough at CSU Los Angeles.

They say doming helps out a lot in the sense of giving you the opportunity to live on your own and realize how life can really be without your parents there.
Academic Rigor well at this moment im not able to answer this question because im going to start on the fall of 2012.
Tips for prospective students well this falls for me at this moment. All i can say to my self is always to seek out for help and finish everyrhing before the deadline. Also always be open minded.

Categories Comments Campus Safety The campus is under authorization of the California Highway Patrol. You are really safe.
Clubs and Activities There are tons of ways for a student to get involved, from student orgs, to Greek life. Getting involved is the best thing you can do to enjoy your college life.
What to do for fun In the basement of the Student Union there is a gameroom called The Pit, and a fully equipped gym. The game room charges for the games now but the gym is completely free you just need to register. The pool also has hours everyday that you can go and swim, all you need is a towel, bathing suit, and your school ID.
Food and Dining Very unhealthy places to eat on campus besides the Juice it Up. But if you do eat on campus there is a Cafe in the corner of Salazar Hall that makes really good sandwiches, quesadillas and burritos.
Dorm Life I don't dorm, but it looks fun and makes getting to school way easier of course.
Academic Rigor Every student at this campus is fast paced and in a hurry to get to class or study. There are many places on campus where you can study peacefully, and if that isn't your thing there's also very lively places if that helps you study, and something is always going on by the student union.
Tips for prospective students Make sure you become involved in some type of student org on campus, they help you network to meet new people who you can help and the same comes in return. Use what the school provides for instance, the Writing Center, get your essays checked at least twice before turning them in, rough and final draft. Bring your own food unless you want to gain the freshman 15 fast.
In three sentences Very small and diverse. Easy to know where everything is at. Lots of help and student involvement provided.

Categories Comments Campus Safety CSULA cares about their student's safety when it comes to protect the health and studies. Every building has their own security and just walk around to see if there is any trouble around the area.
Clubs and Activities Students can create any clubs they want if it has enough people to be call a club. There many sports for boys and girls. If you enjoy to get down and dirty there are soccer for both gender, basketball, volleyball, tennis and many more. If you don't want to play sports there are different type of dance club, swimming club and easy activities.
What to do for fun The school make many activities for the students who are overwhelm from work and studies. The college want the students to enjoy themselves by having sport events, clubs, and a bonfire. There are also project where students get together and observe the piece their fellow classmate had created.
Food and Dining The food that CSULA have are good and healthy. There is a coffee shop for those who need a bit more energy. There pizza, burger, salad and other common food in the campus.
Dorm Life Can't say much about the dorm life because i haven't talk to many students who is living in the campus. However, if a freshman or transfer plan to live in campus then go for it. You'll will see the difference living at home and living in a dorm.
Academic Rigor Like every college there alwasys a difficult class for every individual student. CSULA does have challenging classes some students may say it's to much for them but it just depends on the person. If you're willing to study hard and succeed then challenge yourself by taking difficult classes.
Tips for prospective students If you are planing to apply, don't worry too much the school will try its best to assist you. After graduating high school the college will see if you need help with English and math before you start your college experience.
In three sentences The college is clean and it seem many students are well educated young adults. However, i still haven't gone through a tour yet so i don't know that much about the school. Even though I haven't yet explore the college the school are really interested to help a student in need.

Categories Comments Campus Safety They have security on campus, and if its late they can walk you to your car for safety.
Greek Life There are many fratts and sororities, pretty cool!
Clubs and Activities They have a lot of clubs on campus that have events weekly one just has to pay attention to whats going on on-campus.
Bang for the buck I find it to be very economical since financial aid covers most of it, but other than that books are kind of expensive but everyone sells them online to each-other which turns out cheaper.
What to do for fun You can go to college partys, Fratt houses, social events, schools sport games, gym, and many more.
Food and Dining There are plenty of food places on campus, they have starbucks, juice it up, sbarro, carls jr, pollo loco, rice garden, johnnys kitchen and many more.
Dorm Life Really good experience! The dorms are apartment style which is pretty cool. I got the two bedroom which had three other girls in there and it was some what tough living with another person but if you're both mature about everything and respect each others things everything will be fine. Dorming is a great way to meet new people and its easy access to everything on campus.
Academic Rigor The only difficulty would be adding classes and registering per quarter. There are many students that try to get the same classes and its a hassle to find just any class to add to meet the 12 unit requirement for financial aid.
Tips for prospective students Be on top of your GET account, if there is a hold take care of it ASAP. Don't lagg it when it comes to registering for classes because it gets very hard to add a class.
In three sentences An awesome learning experience, with many opportunities for incoming freshman. A student can receive plenty of help from the tutoring center, or the professors office hours. Overall great/ fun experience!!

Categories Comments What to do for fun There isn't much to do on campus. Since it is in LA, nightclubs aren't too far of a drive.
Food and Dining There is Carl's Jr and El Pollo Loco. The best place to eat on campus is Johny's kitchen. There is also a Starbucks and Juice it up.
Dorm Life I do not dorm so I'm not to sure how that is.
Academic Rigor Some teachers offer online homework assignments and the company offers video tutorials that give step by step Instructions on solving problems. The university lacks enough tutors.

Greek Life I have no personal experience of this, but from what my friends tell me, these groups like to mingle with each other!
Clubs and Activities Many clubs and activities exist in this school! There are even diverse clubs for a certain race of students, but they do not exclude you from joining the club. Instead they encourage you to join to learn more about their culture!
Great for these types of students California State University of Los Angeles is good for any type of students! This campus is full of diverse students so no one will feel out of place!
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus The campus may not be very big, but there are lots of areas to sit around or even under a tree to eat.
Bang for the buck Though tuition is rising in most schools, this school is still one of the cheapest Cal States out there!
What to do for fun On campus we have a thing called The Pit where you can hang out and have fun! They have renovated the area and have included more than 2 xbox to play with, pool tables, and arcade games! You can also take more classes or fun or take a dip in our pool!
Food and Dining Here on campus we have a variety to choose from! From Mexican to Chinese cuisines! It is really up to you, but there are more than 5 varieties to choose from. On campus we also have our very own cafe with weekly specials!
Dorm Life I have no experience of this, but I have heard from friends that it is a very fun experience! You can enjoy this experience with a small amount of people as we only have one complex of dorms which hold around 1,000 people.
Academic Rigor In some of the courses I have taken the Professors can be very challenging, but this is for your own good! Be sure to stay on top of your homework, readings, and be sure to attend class and you will be fine!

Categories Comments Campus Safety Campus safety is great at CSULA. You constantly see security guards walkung back and forth, watching our campus, parking structure, and most importantly keeping students safe. The few Ive came across with, have been very helpful on questions ive had regarding buildings and room numbers, very great attitudes and well informed.
Clubs and Activities Even though I am not involved in any clubs or any activities as much as I would like to, because of timing and commitments, I do have a few friends who play sports, such as soccer and volleyball at school. I like how often they have games and events for students, food drives, and informative sports stands. Fraternities and sororities, in the other hand, are great if you want to meet people, bei involved with school or community, and have work together. I often see different stands promoting their club, giving free things away, and also playing music, A way to keep a student energize and lifted up in school.
Great for these types of students A few great things I really recommend for students who have trouble with math or writing, to always visit the writing center, or get a math tutor at the library. There is a tutor for anything you need help on in campus, and there times are very flexible. Students who also have trouble looking for what classes to take, or are confused on there major, the career venter, is the best place to go, and very informative.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus Our campus is very diverse, I love how in different places of campus, you see different sections of different cultures. We constantly have food drives, with diffetent types of food, from different countries. Its really easy to find out what you like, because of all different types of clubs, food , and most importantly the peaople.
Bang for the buck Student store, youll find anything you need at a very affordable price, clothes , shoes, food, books, supplies, etc...
What to do for fun The things to do for fun, on campus would probably would be the, game room, gym, pool, student center, and food courts. All of these areas are always full of students, because its a great place to get distracted a little from book work, and easy to socialize, while having fun.
Food and Dining The food court in our school, is really great. They have many varities of restaurants, with different types of food such as, mexican, Chinese, American food, and Italian. The University Club, is more formal, they have great food with great waitresses. I can ever complain of there, because everything is good.
Dorm Life I dont dorm, but Ive heard all rooms are very well taken care of, security is great, but the food from the cafeteria needs to improve. The advantage of dorming, is meeting people, and always being informed of different events on campus.
Tips for prospective students Always be ready for challenges, and learn how to manage your time. Time managing is very important, because you need to know how to use your time wisely, how to handle all classes , and be prepare. Always do everything right away, dont procrastinate.
In three sentences From scale through 1-10, I give my school a 10. Ever since Ive started going to school, the different types of resources and people such as, students professors, staffs, and counselors have been very helpful, and kind to me. Going to school, feeling great, comfortable, and successful, makes you feel great about your school, and career.

Greek Life I have no idea.
Clubs and Activities I've only been in one club, the salsa club. It was soooooooo much fun!!
Great for these types of students Any student who is planning to attend a University for their Masters.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus The ENT building has a very weird yet interesting lay out. I got lost trying to look for the English department.
Bang for the buck Cal States in general are becoming more expensive by the day it seems. Therefore, people who do not receive that much financial aid, or none whatsoever, I advise to not mess around; because ultimately you are just throwing your money away since you will have to re-take the class.
What to do for fun I hang out with the new friends I meet every quarter. A group of us participated in the salsa club, very fun! On weekends, we would go to the bars or clubs in downtown.
Food and Dining Thankfully, options are available! There is also a little restaurant on campus. What I love most, is there is a Starbucks on campus!!
Dorm Life I never dormed here in Cal State LA.
Academic Rigor It is not that bad. I only had one teacher who taught as though we were in med school already. Very doable and anyone can succeed!

Categories Comments What to do for fun The Student Union building has a variety of different things to do that are fun. In this building there is a game room where students can play ping pong, pool, x-box, watch t.v., and play different video games. There is also a gym and this gym hosts different classes such as, dance classes, zumba and other classes for free. Also there are plenty of computers to use for either academic or just for leisure time.
Food and Dining There are enough food choices but at the same time if your attending this school for all four years you will eventually get tired of the same food choices. The seating is good but during lunch time there isn't sitting due to the high school students that take all the seats.
Dorm Life The rent is way too much for having to share a dorm with four or more other students. There's only one bathroom per dorm. There's two refrigerators per dorm and two to three rooms depending on what dorm your placed in. The rooms are an average size. Overall I wouldn't suggest dorming it unless there is no other choice.
Academic Rigor Some classes are easy, averaged, and hard. Majority of GE classes are easy and averaged but once students start there major classes especially upper division the classes get more challenging.
Tips for prospective students Make sure to always keep record of all the classes you take and financial records just in case the school loses your information. Regardless of difficult professors keep pressing on and makes sure you study hard and you will succeed in those classes. Go to tutoring when you feel its necessary.
In three sentences Cal State LA is a great school that offers exceptional academic programs that contribute to the students future in a positive way. Despite the excellent programs at Cal State LA the administration falls short of meeting the students needs effectively. Overall Cal State LA is an excellent school that allows students to grow in all aspects of life.

Categories Comments Great for these types of students Working students. People who don't have cars and rely on buses to get to school. Students that are capable of making independent decisions and planning their own futures.
Bang for the buck It's not super pricey to go here.
What to do for fun Join a club. They have school events mostly in the late afternoon.
Food and Dining Not the best, and pretty expensive. Best to make your own lunch
Dorm Life I don't live in the dorms. They're probably not that bad. But since it is a communter school it's probably better to live off campus if available.
Academic Rigor Depends on the teacher and the course. The GE classes tend to be really easy, the major classes are slightly more difficult.
Tips for prospective students Have a major in mind that you want to take, it's not easy just getting general education classes alone. Its easy to make friends but since this is a commuter school the friendships tend to only last as long as the class does; get involved with a club. Registration is online and some people get priority over others, try to join EOP or engineering if you want your classes first.
In three sentences About half the teachers are very good and care about teaching while the other half seem to lack the skills required to teach. The campus is fairly plain with very little nature, mostly cement everywhere. It's an okay school to have as a back up but not necessarily the one you should aim for.

Clubs and Activities There is over 300 clubs and organizations and if none of them are of interest, individuals can start their own club.
Great for these types of students For local residents. Students who are from local high schools and community colleges.
Bang for the buck It is an affordable school since payment's are broken down into three because of the quarter system. Parking is extremely affordable. We are the only campus that has a metro rail stop, which is convenient for users. Most students are local students which only live minutes away from campus, allowing them to return home whenever they like.
What to do for fun There is many attractions around campus such as Hollywood, Santa Monica beach, Downtown LA. All these areas have night clubs, bars, restaurants and many shops. Also there is theme parks near by such as: Universal Studios, Disneyland, Knott's Berry Farm.
Food and Dining There is Starbucks which is great! Newly added is Sbarros. There is also Pollo Loco, Carl's Jr. Sushi, and American cuisine. All around food.
Dorm Life There in no dorms on campus, they are apartment style housing, which means there is a kitchen and living room for students to cook and relax. They are much better than dorms!
Academic Rigor All classes require work, if student's complain to more difficult school will be for them. It is all about time management.
Tips for prospective students Speak to a counselor every quarter to stay on track. Get involved in a club or organization to be more active in school.

Dorm Life Dorm life is pretty nice and the living ways are great, but the housing office could do a much better job in making the students' stay better.
Academic Rigor The classes are not extremely hard, they remind me of being back in high school.
Tips for prospective students Visit the campus and sit in the classes before you decide which school you want to go to. I was unfortunately not able to visit the universities I was thinking about attending because of financial burdens. If you decided to attend Cal State LA, defiantly apply to the Honors College.
In three sentences Cal State LA is not a school I want to attend to finish my degree. As an aspiring lawyer I do not feel it is the place for me to become a great lawyer under a business management major. Cal State LA is a great school for nursing major, and I do not want to be a nurse.

Categories Comments Campus Safety Ive have seen only one fight but it was under control and stopped in like three minutes. The authorities were on scene shortly after the fight started
Greek Life Never have been part of that life. Could not afford it but looks fun.
Clubs and Activities Many choices. There is something for everyone and if not you can always start one
Great for these types of students EVERYONE!!! everyone can learn here. But I do hear the nursing program and accounting program are one of the best.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus Off the freeway which is great just exit and BAM you are there.
Bang for the buck Great. The school provides students with many options. they are very friendly and prompt at the financial aid office. The book store had renting system for books. The library might have needed course books on reserve which are free just need a library card. There is a MC Donald's down the street eating there off the dollar menu can save money.
What to do for fun go to sport events and plays they are all free to students.
Food and Dining great variety but after 3 years the food choices are boring
Dorm Life do not dorm, but my friends did they loved it
Academic Rigor Intense. Professors do not joke around and are not very empathetic. Read, attend class, follow in class, study and you will do fine
Tips for prospective students Do your work! Many of us are not used to a quarter system and do not realize how short 10 weeks really are. Meet with an adviser to track your status. If parking is ever full park in 7a it is always empty probably because you have to walk up a hill of 9 flights of stairs.
In three sentences It is a very diverse school students come from India, Africa, and Central America. The professors are very professional and knowledgeable who can teach very well. Great food variety ranging form Italian, Mexican, Sushi, and American.

Categories Comments Campus Safety There is always cops on campus and security all over the place. In the parking lots and in various places in school they have the emergency call boxes in case of anything. The school is around the urban area of Los Angeles, but the diversity of the cultures is a thing of beauty on campus.
Clubs and Activities There are a lot of clubs, but there isn't a lot of variety. Most of the clubs are small, but there are more forming!
Great for these types of students The school is great for the student that is not afraid to work hard to achieve their goals, and not afraid to get what they want.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus The school usually has Welcome Week in the first weeks of school where all the clubs come out to recruit new people. Then around Spring Quarter there is I love CSULA festival that is awesome; with the games and winning shirts, tumblers, and other freebies, with music from local bands or underground starters! We usually get directors from TV shows coming to our school, and they film on campus and sometimes the students get to try out to be extras on their shows!
Bang for the buck The school itself is wonderful. It's big but small enough to remember where everything is. Just with the your money make sure you make them feel like your the bull in their china shop, not for the recklessness, but for the authority you have in your education.
What to do for fun I recommend two places. The Pit and the X-treme Fitness Gym. In The Pit you have billiards, cable TV, and for your Xbox360 lovers, I think 4 consoles with Gears of War, MW3, Halo, and sport games for very low prices, thanks to geniuses who destroyed the pool sticks and the felt off the table so it's for maintenance and new supplies for it.
Food and Dining The food is adequate for the hungry college student. Jonhy's Kitchen is the BEST place to get breakfast, lunch and dinner. The student store has an assortment of snacks and drinks that are pretty cheap and at the moment foods.
Dorm Life I wouldn't be able to know how dorm life is. Although I've heard that the dorms have good parties for time to time.
Academic Rigor The academia in the school is straight to the point. If you take notes, pay attention and read the books you should be fine.
Tips for prospective students Don't be afraid to assert yourself especially when it comes to your tuition. Don't be afraid to claim what is rightfully yours in respectful boundaries, of course. If you don't you might end up with what happened to me, I had to pay my four quarters because I was too afraid to ask for my money. It's better to ask an older student that has been there for a couple of years, they can help you in ways that easier to understand and won't beat around the bush. Student Affairs 101 is a life saver to find your classes, and the people in there are very friendly and willing to help you. Teachers will not nag you for your due date or attending their classes. You are paying for them and it's all on your shoulders and no one else. Remember, this isn't high school.
In three sentences It isn't the best school when dealing with your financial aid. It has great classes but a lot of the the staff in the cashier's and financial aid office don't help you correctly. The teachers are amazing and they do help you when you need it.

Categories Comments Great for these types of students If you like a small campus so you don't have to run a long distance between classes.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus The computer lab in the King Hall basement is the best place to find a free computer. I also like to take naps on the USU back balcony. It's so relaxing there.
Bang for the buck The books are overpriced, you should try Chegg.com, Amazon.com, or other websites before buying at the bookstore. Although they are having more options to rent.
What to do for fun There are many events, field trips, clubs, and conferences to attend on campus.
Food and Dining The cafeteria could be better. I like to eat at the restaurant. It's much fancier and very affordable. They have a small menu but their food is delicious.
Dorm Life It's not fancy or UCLA but the rooms are very spacious. If you get lucky, like I did, you can end up with the best roommates ever. There are many social events and the meal plan is affordable.
Academic Rigor My freshman year was fairly easy, but I guess that's expected of 100/200 level classes. Once you get to the 300/400, they are challenging but worth the pay.
Tips for prospective students CSULA has a variety of majors, but be sure they have what you truly aspire to study. Go to the career fair, it's easy to land a job on campus if you attend.
In three sentences CSULA has the most helpful and inspiring faculty. The clubs and organizations on campus are very involved in the campus and with the community. The majority of my professors have been worth taking and staying in contact with.

Categories Comments Greek Life I am currently in Gamma Zeta Alpha National Fraternity, Inc. I can honestly say that is by far one of the greatest decision I have made. Greek life is great here but only if you decide to make it great and put your self out there to socialize. Since the univeristy is in Los Angeles and there are several universities all over the city there getting to know other people comes easy and can help you out in the long run.
Great for these types of students Students who prefer more privacy because of the dorms.
What to do for fun There are several things to do to have fun, but the only way you will be able to and know about what is going on around campus is if you get involved as much as possible. The university is five minutes away from down town and 20 minutes away from the beach if you have a car you will always have something to do.
Food and Dining I will be honest and say that the food here is not good at all. I had the meal plan my freshman year and I did not like it at all. You only have a lunch and dinner meal and on weekends a morning brunch. If you miss it, you lose it basically. I would advice that one cooks at their apartment instead.
Dorm Life Dorms here are great they are not typical university dorms with hallways but rather apartments. When i first attended CSULA it was the first thing I noticed it is just apartments with students living here its awesome.
Academic Rigor I am a current sophomore so I cannot say that classes are very difficult mostly because I am taking my under grad classes. As of right now my first year was fairly easy. The only thing I had a hard time getting used to was the quarter system, it goes by too fast!
Tips for prospective students The campus is not big at all, which makes most classes fairly easy to find. The housing life is great mostly because the dorms here are not the typical dorms with hallways and cluttered rooms, but rather we have apartments. its great for those who prefer more privacy and would rather cook than to have the schools meal plan. The university itself has a very large body of commuting students, but since the past year I have been here student housing has been getting larger and gives it a better and more enjoyable life to campus. Overall I enjoy this school because it is in the middle of Los Angeles and there is always something to do on the weekends.
In three sentences Overall the campus is very small, but very close to where all the action happens in Los Angeles. There is always something to do, whether it is on campus, dorms, or an organization on campus having an event outside. Classes here are great I am a current sophomore and I have had no problem with getting every class I need, also professors are great. I would definitely rate this school a 9 based on classes and student life.

Categories Comments Campus Safety There's a campus police station on campus. There offer many services, such as walking students back to their car at night. It's a great service , since the parking lot and campus gets really empty and quiet at night.
Greek Life Sororities , fraternities and co-ed greek life is available here.
Clubs and Activities There are many different clubs here.
Great for these types of students Student who do not like classes on Friday. If you plan your schedule well, there is a chance you could go to campus twice a week only. Which saves alot of gas and money for those commuting.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus On the third floor of the ASI building there is a sitting area called Alumni Lounge. That place is great to study because it is quiet and comfortable.
What to do for fun The school has a fitness center and often have organized events that people can go to. For example, there's an event call Moonlight Breakfast , where the student can eat breakfast at night for free and it is all you can eat.
Food and Dining The school has a mini food court that students can purchase food from Carl's Jr, El Pollo Loco and a few more. There is also a University Cafe right next to the food court. The food there is pretty good and there's a 10% discount for student eating there.
Academic Rigor From the lower G.E. classes that I have taken, they were all generally easy and fun. The workload from each classes varies.
Tips for prospective students Books can be very expensive for some of the classes so always try to look for a cheaper book. There's a bus shuttle at school, that takes student to a book mart. The books there are a little cheaper then the book store at school.
In three sentences CSULA is great university that offer many classes in many fields of study. It is a very diverse a campus. Which allows students to meet many different kinds of people.

Categories Comments Campus Safety They just rebuilt and relocated the public safety building, so now they have more access to the campus. We have own police and student workers who can escort you to your car or answer any concerns 24/7. We also have his text alert systems for cellphones in case of an emergency occurs on campus .
What to do for fun During the beginning of every quarter, there will be a lot of clubs, sororities, and fraternities on the main walkway so be prepare in exploring new groups. We have a building called the Student Union where many activities go on such as film showings, guest speakers, and other presentations. We also have an arcade room as well.
Food and Dining There is a food court inside the school that includes Pollo Loco, Carl's Jr., Kikka sushi, Rice Garden, Johny's Kitchen, Sbarro's, Starbucks, and Juice it Up. They have their own cafe and remember you are also ten minutes away from downtown so you have other food possibilities outside of school too.
Dorm Life I do not dorm however I did look into dorming and they look okay. Just from visiting one and looking at the cost I would say it is not overpriced but they were not for me.
Academic Rigor To be honest most of the GE's (general requirements) I have taken where not hard. The assignments and tests were not hard as long as you studied. However, there are those professors who are not so lenient, so always do your best in all your classes and don't slack off.
Tips for prospective students Make sure the program you want to major in is not impacted or else you will definitely need to step up those grades because it will get competitive. It might be cheaper to commute than to drive, so see what ways you can get to school ( train, bus, etc) that way you can save money for other expenses.
In three sentences Cal State LA is a fun school where majority of the students commute since it is not far from downtown LA. It is not a small school and is full of students who are eager to learn and has a lot of academic programs which are highly competitive. If you want to get to meet people of different cultures as part of your college experience, this school is definitely the one which makes I exciting because you are able to hear about different perspectives while you are in class.

Clubs and Activities Many activities and clubs the people are friendly and welcome you in!
Bang for the buck I applied for scholarships but I really didn't get much, I had to take out a loan which is a pain
What to do for fun I like to go relax with my new friend at her dorm and start on my homework. There is many times that the university has fun free events and take advantage!
Food and Dining I recommend to bring your own lunch at times to not be spending so much money on food.
Dorm Life I do not live in the dorms but I have been to them, the students are happy and makes everything easy.
Academic Rigor It's important to study real hard, slacking off is not an option, always ask the professor for help and do not procrastinate
Tips for prospective students It's important to remember all the deadlines to get everything in, and do well in all those exams that the university asks for.
In three sentences This school is very diverse it's very neat to see and interact with different people. I like that this university is not that big so it doesn't take me forever to walk to my classes. Classrooms aren't packed with students so your professor has time for you and knows who you are.

Categories Comments Campus Safety The campus appears to be safe. The campus has it's own sworn police department and they are always present but not in an ominous way.
Clubs and Activities They just built a really good gym, the membership is free for all students. The equipment is all new, the facility is very clean, and does not get too crowded. I would definitely recommending trying it out, it definitely gives any other gym a run for its money.
What to do for fun There is the gym and the student activities center. They have a lounge available with tv's and a few games. There are also a few coffee shops with a relaxing atmosphere that is a good break from class.
Food and Dining There is a decent choice for food on the campus, the choices are not too healthy though.
Dorm Life I do not live in the dorm.
Academic Rigor This is a school where being diligent as a student is expected. However, for the students who are willing to put the work in, the teachers are willing to provide that extra help and support to be a successful student.

Food and Dining Bookstore is like a mini grocery store, electronic store, and a gift shop! There are healthy foods available like sandwiches, salads, smoothies, and junky foods like Carl's jr, Chinese food, and sbarros.
Dorm Life Well I don't dorm but I've seen a preview of the atmosphere I guess and all I have to say is, party ;) which can be a bad thing if your trying to get work done.
Academic Rigor Most teachers are approachable (at least the ones I've had) they've always made themselves available for us.
In three sentences So far everything has been good! There are cool people to meet, many opportunities for a job or to join clubs that help you in your major( especially for engineers in my opinion) and classes can be fun if you like to work with others!

Categories Comments Campus Safety Campus safety is taken VERY seriously. There are many emergency buttons around campus in case of an emergency and they are there till late to escort anyone late at night to the parking lot for extra safety. The best part is that the sheriff's station is not far from the school.
Clubs and Activities There are MANY clubs and activities all that any student could ever want. If there is no club that you're interested in that can easily be changed by starting a new club.
Great for these types of students Honestly great for any type of student since the school has a little bit of everything.
Bang for the buck Tuition has recently decreased but depending on the books it can be expensive but there is a lot of help out there.
What to do for fun There is plenty to do for fun! There is what is known as the pit, it is a room in the Student Union's basement that has TV's, pool tables, ping-pong, and every now and then video games. There are also gyms and basketball courts.
Food and Dining There are some choices but not too many and of course all is fast food. If the school had a section of healthy choices it would bump up from 4 stars to 5. But there are some famous stores like Starbucks and Carls Jr.
Dorm Life I do not dorm but I have gone in the dorms and they are not as good as one may think. When you ask a student how are the dorms? Their response is ...ehh its alright...
Academic Rigor Most of the professors are laid back but they are also very good at getting the information through to their students. If for any reason the student does not understand the material professors have office hours and there are tutoring centers and study groups that any student can attend to for that extra help.
Tips for prospective students I STRONGLY recommend to keep track of everything and to do whatever possible ahead of time (i.e. buy textbooks, parking permits etc.). Of course to keep up with work; no procrastination!
In three sentences It is welcoming and easy to get around, if you ever get lost just ask anyone students and staff are very friendly. It can also be a bit overwhelming having a quarter system but overall its a great school.

Academic Rigor The only way this school would be considered hard in the academic stand point would be if the student is not prepared. There are a lot of courses that have you do a lot of reading in the time span of one week. Just make sure to come prepared
