Categories Comments Great for these types of students People who are a little more mellow, laid back, and into their studies. However, I wouldn;t advise shy people to choose Carroll because you do need to put yourself out there a bit to meet people (but that's kind of ALWAYS needed to make friends!) If you're a party animal it probably isn;t the school for you!
Tips for prospective students Scholarships, scholarships, scholarships! They are your friends! Apply to as many as you can (and still do a good job on them)! I would also say you should visit plan a visit to the campus rather than just show up because your tour guide is always a current student, so they have first hand knowledge about the place.
Bang for the buck Carroll is a VERY expensive school for most people. I would say that incoming students should definitely check out the scholarships offered at Carroll, along with anywhere else they can find them! Even if you only get the ones offered by the university, it can REALLY make a difference in price!
Am enjoying being here Carroll University is a very nice school with a lovely campus, but if you're a social butterfly, it can feel a little cramped. It only have 3,000 students and the school is surrounded by houses, so you can feel kind of isolated. In reality it's only like a 1/2 mile from downtown, and the main chunk of Waukesha - plus, it;s right outside of Milwauke- but it seems like alot farther from the action when you're on foot!
Am learning a lot On average, the class sizes are about the size of a high school class (20-30 students), which means each student has a better opportunity to talk to their professor. I am someone who really likes science, so I really enjoy how the science labs have less than 20 people, and often involve field work that helps me learn the material in a hands-on way!

Categories Comments Great for these types of students Students who like a smaller campus, students who occasionally like to party but are more reserved, students who want to have fun while getting a great education.
Tips for prospective students Scholarships! Carroll is very generous with giving out scholarships but I cannot stress enough the importance of applying for outside scholarships to get as much of it paid for as you can. The less loans you have to take the better!
Bang for the buck It is expensive! But the education you receive and everything that you end up paying for is worth it!
Am enjoying being here The campus size is fairly small for a college. Being only about 3200 people, it becomes it's own community. Everyone is so genuine and nice here and they definitely are friendly. People are willing to strike up casual conversation with someone they have never even seen before, and everyone helps other people out. Its like the campus is a family. Its definitely one of the best things about it here.
Am learning a lot The class sizes are very conducive to learning. Being about 20-30 students per class, professors definitely have the time to help students one on one if needed, and they always do. They are VERY knowledgeable and you learn a LOT from classes.

Categories Comments Great for these types of students Carroll University is great for anyone really. The students are great, the faculty members are wonderful, and the Physical Therapy program only takes 6 years for a doctorate.
Tips for prospective students If you live on campus: leave your dorm door open. Even if you are more introverted, there are people who will introduce themselves around. Hang out with the people on your floor and make connections with people in your classes. If you live off campus: make sure that you attend a lot of on-campus activities. They're free and you will meet a lot of people who share similar intrests as you.
Bang for the buck Although the small school setting is great, the education is amazing, and the people are all incredible, it is very expensive. That being said, they came up with a very good scholarship package.
Am enjoying being here There are constantly activities going on and orientation groups allowed me to meet other freshmen right away. All the students are great and I'm friendly with a lot of people. I have a tight group of friends that are really great. The professors are very helpful and are easy to talk to if you need help.
Am learning a lot With the LSP and FYS programs for freshmen, as well as a huge variety of classes, I have learned a lot; and they made the transition from high school to college easy and painless.

Categories Comments Great for these types of students *suburban dwellers *those who like small town living *those who like small campuses *those who like to be different and part of a diverse group *those who hate walking forever just to get to one class
Tips for prospective students *Be yourself. At Carroll, individuality is what matters. The school is very accepting of everyone; in fact, diversity is very much encouraged. *Be involved. Like I said before, there are many orgs on campus; there is certainly one that fits you. If not, create your own org; it is very much encouraged.
Bang for the buck My main concern in this department is the price of books at the bookstore and its buyback policy. One pays so much for a book then receives little to nothing at the end of the semester. For instance, at the beginning of the school, a book was bought at $160 used. At the end of the semester, $60 of the money was given back. Many colleges have much fairer policies and try to give back at least half of the money. Also, housing is a bit overpriced, especially for the on-campus apartments. For the value of these, the quality is not there. Most of them need updates and/or repairs. Dorms are OK; in fact, most of them have been renovated within the past 5-10 years.
Am enjoying being here There are so many different organizations on campus, so there is a group for everyone. Everyone I met here so far has been very friendly. The way that the campus is set feels like home, considering that I come from a suburban area. The campus is not too big to where you will get lost in the crowd but not too small to where you will awkwardly be the center of attention. The campus also has a very diverse group of people, so finding friends is not difficult whatsoever.
Am learning a lot The professors are simply WONDERFUL!!! They can meet with you one-on-one of you ever need help with something or simply just chat about anything. And even if they are not available, some classes offer Supplemental Instruction. There is a SI instructor who has taken and excelled in the class. He or she offers group help sessions at least once a week; if not, more. They also have office hours if you prefer one-on-one help. This program can help a student boost his or her grades by about two letter grades if he or she regularly attends.

Categories Comments Tips for prospective students Make sure you apply for financial aid and as many scholarships as possible, as tuition increases on a yearly bases because they don't freeze it at the price it is at when your first enroll.
Bang for the buck While Carroll is expensive, the price is worth the education and experience you will receive.
Am enjoying being here Carroll ALWAYS has something going on. Whether it is fairly cheap field trips to movies in the ballroom, the campus is never boring. Student Affairs held a Easter egg hunt in which the finder of the golden egg won a 5lb Hersey's Bar. You are sure to never be bored.
Am learning a lot With smaller class sizes, its easy to talk to your professors. They actually take the time to get to know you and are willing to help when you need it. Plus with the SI program, if you need help studying, there is a peer being paid to take the class with you so they can help you.

Categories Comments Great for these types of students Carroll is really great for all kinds of students. Whether you appreciate quiet or social learning, there are environments that support both. This university is for students that are seriously interested in their majors and earning their degrees.
Tips for prospective students I found the initial orientation days to be extremely stressful. There is an abundance of information thrown at everyone and it's impossible to keep everything straight. However, a week into my first term, everything was fine. All the pieces of information scattered in my brain fell into place. The professors and guides are a valuable tool all throughout the year. So, while this may seem like a frightening journey at first, everything will fall into place sooner than you think.
Bang for the buck Carroll may not be the cheapest university in Wisconsin, but there are factors that make up for the hefty price tag. For one, it's very close to home. As a commuter, this allows for some ease. As I've stated before, the classroom sizes are great and allow for more opportunities to receive guidance along with getting to know the other students and professor alike. The campus provides a safe and comfortable environment. As one of, if not the oldest colleges in Wisconsin, there is plenty of atmosphere in the old buildings. Although the current economy is putting some strain on my family, Carroll is worth the buck for the bang.
Am enjoying being here In most aspects, I enjoy attending Carroll. The size of the classroom allows for comfortable learning and there are many environments that support my studies. Because of the smaller classrooms, it is easier to form close relationships with the instructors. I'm able to ask for assistance and even get on a personal level with certain professors that are as interested in a subject as I am due to the comfort of the classroom. On campus, there are a multitude of areas that aid in learning and studying. The library in particular maintains many areas for this. For students that appreciate silence when doing homework, there is a quite room. The Learning Commons allows for a more relaxed, social environment for those who don't require absolute silence. Students can also meet and socialize in the coffee shop. Other areas on campus include restaurants, shops, and computer labs. The only factor I do not appreciate is that is seems as though Carroll favors students living on campus. For example, some late night activities discourage commuter involvement. It makes sense for the university to support the students that are away from home. However, if they equally catered their attention to the commuters, it would feel like a home to me as well.
Am learning a lot The classroom environments truly facilitate learning. The sizes, which range anywhere from six to thirty students, allows for plenty of one-on-one time with the instructor. Of course, the classroom vibe does depend on the individual professor. While each has a unique learning style, they are still effective teachers. I found that even if I wasn't particularly fond of a teacher, I still gained sufficient knowledge of the subject. Some classes involve the typical powerpoint presentation each day in order to teach the lesson while others utilize class discussions, allowing the students to actively become familiar with the lesson. While powerpoints get the job done, the discussions really helped my understanding of the subjects. In nearly every class, there is group work established outside of the classroom. This again allows students to learn actively while helping them formulate relationships. As a shy person, these projects aided in making acquaintances outside of class. All in all, Carroll is excellent in the aspect of teaching students not only the curriculum, but in developing social skills as well.

Categories Comments Great for these types of students Smart, likes small classes, want to major in nursing or pt.
Tips for prospective students Do good in High School
Bang for the buck I wouldn't recomend Carroll for students other than ones interested in nursing, phyisical therepy, or athletic training because tuition is expensive and the professors in the other subject areas arent very good.
Am enjoying being here Carroll has a good student environment and lots for a student to do around campus but many of the campus sponsored events are somewhat lame and hard to fit into a busy schedule
Am learning a lot Carroll focuses on a good quality of learning but the professors for classes that aren't either in the PT program or the Nursing program are sub par.

Categories Comments Great for these types of students This school is great for a small town student, one that likes hands on learning, small class size, cozy atmosphere, at home feeling, and a student ready to expand their education.
Tips for prospective students Stay focused on high school. Scholarships are important and should be done when you have time, but never take your eyes off of senior and junior year. Complete the steps in high school, it is still important. Focus on scholarships and college applications on weekends and during breaks. And don't worry about the financial costs, there are people to help you work it out, never back away from your dream school because of the cost.
Bang for the buck Carroll is an expensive school, but the small class size and the hands on learning experience is going to be worth it. They also have in place a great financial aid package that really helps, and they help to find outside scholarships as well. They also have a great selection of on campus jobs to bring down the cost as well.
Will enjoy being here Carroll University has a beautiful campus. It is the only campus that I have been on that looks like the photos that they send in the mail. I have already visited several times, and each time I notice something better about coming.
Will learn a lot I have not yet started my classes for Carroll, but I did decide to sit in on a class when I took a visit. I honestly would have stayed the full two hours of the class because it was so interesting. The teacher was definitely a hands on teacher and it was so friendly it did not even seem like a class anymore. The students in the class told me that the teachers were always like that. I would say with my experience I can totally tell that I am going to learn a lot because of the unique style of teaching.

Categories Comments Great for these types of students Anyone could go to Carroll University, whether your mellow, laid back, or energetic, there's so many different organizations to join, many different events happening each week and different athletics to chose form. In joining in with Carroll University's events, organizations or athletics you can make so many different friends and make the best out of the four years of being at Carroll University.
Tips for prospective students For the incoming freshmen I would recommend to find as many scholarships as possible, there are plenty out there to apply for. Also visit the campus first to see if you like it, most likely you will love the campus. Also when you do visit there is always a campus tour guide who can help you with locating each building and if you have any questions they will answer them because they are a current student at Carroll University.
Bang for the buck For what is offered at Carroll University the tuition is worth your while. It is pretty expensive but there are so many opportunities and scholarships available for Carroll.
Am enjoying being here Carroll university is a really nice campus and i feel more at home there so I don't get as homesick. the campus is surrounded by houses so it feels like you're in your own little village plus it's not too far from Milwaukee which is nice if you have time you can go shopping or out to eat to relax from all the homework and studying.
Am learning a lot In most of the classes there are only about 20-30 students with one professor, which means that each student can ask the professor a question or they can email them or visit them on their office hours. this means that the average student can succeed more in what they need to learn. I am a photography major and there is plenty of room to work in the dark room and still ask questions if any arise.

Categories Comments Great for these types of students -Those who like small, personal classes. -Those who like a challenge. -Those who want to learn and have fun. -Those who can stand to be bored once in a while.
Tips for prospective students -Join an org! Even if it's just one, it's a great experience. -Go to the org fair, it'll help you see what's a good fit for you. -Go to events, the orgs that sponsor it would appreciate the attendance and they're usually informative and fun! -Get help when you need it! -Keep an open mind and try something new. -Either rent or buy used books, unless you can't. -Get along with your roommate because there's a $100 room changing fee. -Go the MDR instead of the PIT. It's healthier, unless you intend to eat junk food.
Bang for the buck Carroll's expensive, but they give out a lot free stuff. If you go to all the events during the year, you will go home happy with a suitcase full of stuff! Most of the activites are at night, so try not to have night classes to enjoy the free stuff. Also, they typically have free stuff in the campus center during lunch time and dinner time, so keep an eye out for the tables! Downtown, all Carroll students get a, I think 20% or 15%, discount at many good downtown eateries! We also get coupons for places like Domino's, Jimmy John's, Papa john's, and other places that deliver. All of this, but I don't think we're going to have a big event or concert for a while, so that's kinda disappointing. Some of the dorms and other places seem outdated, but I think they're going to fix up that within the next few years.
Am enjoying being here At first, I didn't like it, but after I talked to my advisor and I joined orgs at Carroll and started to feel at home. I highly recommend everyone join orgs at Carroll, they're a great way to meet new people and not go crazy just doing work all the time. There's nothing to do downtown after 5pm, but if you have car, you get to actually go places. Downtown isn't too far, but it's tiny compared to Milwaukee's downtown. There's also nothing to do if you have no money, so get a job or save money that your parents give you. There's a six week challenge in the first six weeks to get students to stay, but that's the most fun over the weekends they have. Most people go home on the weekends, so it's nice to have peace on weekends. I would say the second semester, people are more friendly and there's lots to do because all the orgs are trying to do as many thing as they can in a short time.
Am learning a lot Yes, the classes are challenging, especially if you don't ask for help. At Carroll there are so many resources at your disposal, such as tutoring, SI (Supplemental Instruction), writing center, and your professors! If you ask, you can get a tutor in any subject or class. With classes that have a large amount of students that need help every year, there's SI. The cool thing about SI, is that the student already has taken the class and gotten a good grade, but they're retaking the class with you to experience how the professor teaches. If you go to an SI session, you get a more personalized experience and have fun because they play games while you learn, it's fun! If you need help in writing/English, you can go to the writing center for help, I heard that it helps a bunch! Also, you can just go to your professor's office hours for help, they're very nice, helpful, and always willing to teach you again! Lastly, at freshman orientation, they show you all of this anyway, but pay attention! It WILL come in handy!

Categories Comments Great for these types of students ~ People who want a small, closed campus ~ Those who are willing to get out there and try new things ~ Those who are ready for a challenge. ~ Those who know how to ask for help. Some of the classes can be brutal without help.
Tips for prospective students Get involved! Go see a play, play some bingo, walk around downtown Waukesha - anything and everything! Get to know your professors. They know so much and can help you with everything from writing your c.v. for graduate school to venting your frustrations about your roommate's belching habit.
Bang for the buck Yes, Carroll is expensive. But, knowing your class rank and ACT score, you can find out the least amount of money you can expect before you even apply. I loved that. They are also very helpful with financial aid. I wasn't expecting any, and still got some. The ticket price is something like $35,000 a year and with the scholarships Carroll gave me, I was able to get it down to $16,000.
Am enjoying being here There is something going on nearly every weekend - there's events called CU @ Night which bring movies, trips to the mall, zoo, Brewer's game, etc to campus. Homecoming and Spring Fling are more for the drinking but DON'T miss bingo! (They give some awesome prizes.) There is an organization (org) for anyone. From Fondue Night with the radio station to the annual History Student/Faculty Trivial Pursuit Night, you can find something for you. The only thing I found to be bothersome is how unwilling Public Safety is to give students rides to the grocery store as they said they would.
Am learning a lot Small classes are great but nothing if the professors don't utilize the size. Every class I have taken (I'm a sophomore) has had discussions, games (jeopardy being a favorite) and projects that help students get together and learn to work together. I haven't had a class bigger than 35 students. The majority of the professors are SO willing to help. They came to teach at Carroll to help students. Many of the professors have become my good friends because of how interested they are in my education.

Categories Comments Great for these types of students Any one who likes personal interactions with their professors and enjoys getting involved with many different clubs and activities.
Tips for prospective students Do not be afraid to make friends, socializing is one of the most important aspects of school because the people you meet here can be lifelong friends. Classes are tough but as long as you work hard you wont have a problem. Its okay to feel nervous but relax. There are always people to help you accomplish anything.
Bang for the buck Carroll is a private school, which means ALOT of financial aid to give away. By working hard and getting good grades you will get a decent chunk of change for a scholarship.
Am enjoying being here The campus is smaller, so I do not have to walk as far to classes, its great when its cold out! There are many places to stop with friends to talk, or study. Overall, Carroll is never boring.
Am learning a lot Class sizes are small, there is always interaction with your teachers after hours. Need help? Its no problem you can get help from your professors or peers. Classes are never to overbearing if you work hard because every professor gives you chances to excel.

Categories Comments Campus Safety the campus safety at carroll university is very good. they do their best to keep the students on campus safe at all times. campus safety even offers safe walks where they provide you with a campus safety worker who will walk you to your class or back to your dorm if you would just like some company on your walk home after night classes. they also provide campus shuttles that will drive you to certain destinations if it is ever snowing, raining, or if you just simply need a ride.
Greek Life greek life here is not very big. there are a total of three fraternities and three sororities. they plan events for whatever philanthropy they have and sometimes plan small events for the students on campus.
Clubs and Activities carroll university has a numerous amount of clubs to join. there is basically a club for every major at this school. having so many clubs is helpful in getting to know people and ask for others advice in what you want to do with your future.
Great for these types of students carroll university is great for students who do not feel comfortable at larger schools. you really get to know some of your professors and will actually be able to see some of the people you meet the next day. you will not just be a number at this school. your advisors and professors want you to succeed.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus there are actually indian mounds located at a few spots around our campus.
Bang for the buck this school is definitely a bang for your buck. i am confident that i am receiving a high level of education here that will make me a well-rounded person and will prepare me for my future career.
What to do for fun carroll university offers a bunch of different activities to do. there are always some type of athletic events to attend whether it's football, basketball, or even wrestling. it is a great way to show your school spirit and meet new people. there are also very rewarding volunteer opportunities that the school sets up for its students to attend. one being the best buddies program. this program is a fun way to interact with special needs kids and do fun activities with them like playing basketball or doing arts and crafts type activities with them as well. also, carroll university is not far from brookfield mall where you can shop, eat, go see a movie, or just hang with friends.
Food and Dining of course when you first move away it will be hard to get used to campus food and you will miss your mom's home-cooked meals, but i would have to say carroll does a pretty good job with their food selections. they offer a decent variety of food to choose from and put different items on the menu everyday.
Dorm Life dorm life here is very accommodating. carroll university offers numerous types of dorms to live in. the recommended dorms to live in when you decide to come here as a freshman would definitely have to be either north and south bergstrom, or steele and swarthout hall. they are traditional style dorms which is helpful for new students to meet new people. also the resident assistant staff in all the dorms always come up with activities to get the residents out of their room in order to mingle and meet new people.
Academic Rigor if your looking to just breeze by in your college academic classes at carroll university, you should think again. carroll offers very intense classes that are manageable to take and pass but you definitely need to devote a lot of your time to studying. the courses you need to take depending on whatever major you choose will definitely prepare you for what you need to know, you just need to put the time and effort into you work to succeed. i know this for a fact in choosing a health science major that a lot of my own time is devoted to studying. the challenging courses that i am required to take will definitely prepare me for the future.
Tips for prospective students one major tip i can give to perspective students is to not slack off. carroll university is turning into health science based school and if you plan on entering one of the health science related fields, you definitely need to put a lot of time into your school work. i definitely recommend attending the supplemental instruction sessions that our school provides, not only for the science classes, but other classes as well. these sessions are very helpful and you receive good insight, study tips, and any extra help you need from your peers who have taken the class before.
In three sentences carroll university is a close-knit school, that has staff here who really want you to succeed. you will receive an excellent education that in the long run will help you with your future. lastly, you will make amazing life long friends here that you will be in touch with for the rest of your life.

Great for these types of students i am an art student and the amount of extra curricular art activities is outstanding!
Bang for the buck i have attended a uw college and did not like it. carroll university is a private college that allows each student to receive the attention that they need which makes every dime that the school costs worth it.
What to do for fun there are a large amount of extra curricular activities for each student. endless amounts of events to go to from live painting and music concerts to football games. there will never be a lack of events going on, weekly.
Food and Dining they have plenty of food options including a main dining room which has countless selections in a buffet style, they have another area that has many fast food type selections, and then a coffee shop that also has food selections. i usually find myself eating in the coffee shop because it is a very wonderful atmosphere for studying.

Academic Rigor there is plenty of challenge to help each student reach their full potential.

In three sentences many extra curricular activities that relate to fine art degrees which will look good on your future resume. the class sizes are small so each student is able to receive the attention and help that they need. th professors make lots of time to offer extra help to each student that needs it outside of the classroom.

Categories Comments Clubs and Activities There are so many things you can be involved in that I could not even begin to list them all! There seems to be a club for everyone and every interest and passion.
Bang for the buck You get what you pay for. I expected college to be expensive. I recommend getting a job and saving money to contribute to your own education - unless you can get enough scholarships to pay your way!
What to do for fun Carroll is close enough to home to keep in contact with family and friends. I am excited about exploring the Waukesha area, too.
Food and Dining I had a meal when I visited. The food was really good. There are a lot of choices and good deals.
Dorm Life It will be a new experience for me. I am a little nervous about sharing a small space with a person I do not know.
Academic Rigor I expect it to be challenging, and I would be a little disappointed if it weren't challenging. After all, this is college!
Tips for prospective students Carroll may not be right for everyone. It is a smaller campus and it is a higher cost than your typical colleges. However, I believe it is worth the investment.
In three sentences Carroll University is PERFECT for me. I am so excited I can hardly stand the wait! I know I will LOVE being here.

Categories Comments Campus Safety They offer many services to ensure student safety and there hasn't been an issue since I have been on campus, it's generally very safe.
Greek Life Three sororities, two fraternities that are very active on campus.
Clubs and Activities SO MANY!! Student government, anime, Queers and Allies (Q&A), student radio, etc.
Great for these types of students Great for students that want to become more independent!
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus There is a lot of history at Carroll (Carroll was created before Wisconsin was recognized as a state!!) so its neat to learn about that. There are several traditions at Carroll and in Waukesha that students enjoy.
Bang for the buck Carroll is expensive, but it is an experience for a lifetime.
What to do for fun There is a HUGE budget for programming and events, so if you are bored at Carroll, there is always something you could be doing.
Food and Dining The dining services are very helpful and cater to the students wants and needs. If you have a food allergy they will always have special food available for those students.
Dorm Life Dorm life what you make it at Carroll. I work for the residence halls so obviously I love it. They offer lots of activities and programs to get involved in and fun things to do on the weekends and evenings.
Academic Rigor Academically Carroll can be challenging, however, they offer a wide variety of services to help students study or get one on one help from the professor.
Tips for prospective students Get involved!! Life as a student can be stressful, but having a close group of peers really helps the college experience go smoothly.
In three sentences A perfect private university experience. Carroll offers a wide variety of opportunities for students to excel. Carroll professors almost always know students by name, and care about the students success.

Categories Comments Campus Safety AWESOME. They will give you rides all over campus all winter long. I never felt endangered walking around campus. If you decide to leave campus, just be careful and watch where you go. The surrounding neighborhoods aren't by any means dangerous, but you can never be too careful.
Greek Life I believe there are 3 sororities and 2 fraternities. Because of Wisconsin laws, females are not allowed to have sorority houses but that doesn't keep them from being very active on campus.
Clubs and Activities It's a small school so the sports here aren't too competitive but still fun to attend! The school holds a lot of events and offers activities for students to attend off of campus. They have a lot of different clubs to choose from and if they don't have one you are interested in, you can get some fellow students and start your own!
Great for these types of students Students who are looking for a small campus, are focused on their studies, and laid back. People there are very accepting of everyone. They offer an environment for those who are both quiet and social. If you are looking to party every weekend, this probably isn't the school for you.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus The campus is located in a historical town so check out all the scenery in downtown Waukesha. It may be an old town, but it is absolutely beautiful.
Bang for the buck The school itself is pretty expensive because it's private. They are very generous with financial aid. When you get accepted they will offer you a decent amount of financial aid right off the bat. Apply for scholarships, it will help a lot.
What to do for fun Carroll is located in a quiet town only 30 minutes outside of Milwaukee. There isn't much going on in downtown Waukesha but it is a beautiful place to walk around. There is a lovely river walk and some shops to see. There aren't too many hoppin bars around this school but Milwaukee isn't too far of a drive!
Food and Dining The food in the Main Dinning Room is pretty tasty and healthy. They are always offering sandwiches and stir fry here. The hours in the MDR aren't too great but if they aren't open you can go to the PIT. The PIT is open pretty late but the food down there isn't too great. Fortunately, the school is surrounded by a lot of restaurants to choose from if you decide to go out.
Dorm Life The dorm life here is pretty good. They have quite a few residence halls with a variety of room options. One of the biggest downfalls at Carroll is they require you to live on campus for 3 years. It is possible to apply for off campus housing after your freshman year, but there are specific qualifications.
Academic Rigor Academically, this school is excellent. Carroll offers a wide variety of classes that are academically challenging in a comfortable environment. Most classes held are small, 20-30 people, which allows you the chance to get to know your professors, who are only there to help you succeed! The only downfall is this is a private school; therefor, if you transfer chances are a lot of your credits won't transfer.
Tips for prospective students Socially, this isn't the greatest school to get that college experience at. Most people head home for the weekend therefor, there isn't much going on. The majority of students are PT or Nursing majors so if you are interested in PT or Nursing, this is the school for you. Scholarships! Carroll is an expensive school, they do a pretty good job of awarding money to incoming students, but be sure to apply for scholarships! Carroll offers a lot of extra assistance to all of their students. Take advantage of this!
In three sentences Carroll is an academically challenging school that allows students the opportunity to learn in a quiet and social environment. Classes are small enough so each student is able to receive the attention and help they need to help them succeed. Carroll offers a wide variety of opportunities in and outside of the classroom for students their students to excel.

Categories Comments Campus Safety Our public safety is very good. They help you whenever you need it and show up quickly. The provide shuttle service at night if needed and truly care about us as students.
Greek Life There are 3 sororities and 3 fraternities at Carroll. We serve the community by organizing fund raisers as well as volunteering. Greek life offers a great social aspect to students as you get very close with one another and you make friends forever. Greek life also just hang out together. We support each other and its great.
Clubs and Activities The university offers many different types of organizations and clubs. You can join an academic club, social, religious or diversity organization. I am in Greek life which is also a good way to meet people and serve your community. You can also join intramural which is another good way to meet people while having fun.
Great for these types of students Carroll is great university for students who are looking for a small classroom. The teachers provide one on one help if you need it and its good for those who need to do clinics as the college has great connects with its community. If students have disabilities, you can get help as the staff is willing to work with you.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus Carroll is the oldest college in the state of Wisconsin. It was established in 1849. The one unusual thing on campus I know of is that there is a haunted building called MacAllister on campus where the professors have their offices. Supposedly a young girl by the name of Lydia Morgan hung herself in the attic of the house. It is said that apparitions have been seen in the house.
Bang for the buck It is great to be able to use your student ID card at ABP and the PIT. My sister is at a college that doesnt offer this. You can also use your ID for laundry, snacks in snack machines. Local vendors also allow students discounts and you can use your ID.
What to do for fun Every weekend Carroll student organizations put on night time weekend activities such as field trips to restaurants, movie screening with free popcorn all at a reasonable price. Going a club or organization is a great way to meet people. Many do community service and hold social events together.
Food and Dining The dining is centrally located. You can eat in the main dining room, in the PIT or at Au Bon Pain. The PIT is located in the basement of the campus center and they offer grill food and have a cafe. The ABP is a great soup and sandwich place, but they have a killer breakfast too. The food isnt that great in the cafeteria, but I am a picky eater. Just wish they had more veggies.
Dorm Life The university offers many different housing styles. You can stay in traditional dorms, be housed in apartments or in suite-styled housing. I have lived in Bergstrom for one year. I had a good experience, minus few cold showers. The atmosphere in the dorms is very social as my floor left their doors open. This allowed for a family feel and a good way to meet others.
Academic Rigor This will depend on your major. The science dept provides challenging courses. You have to be very organized. I study about 3-4 hours a day out side of classes. But with good time management you are still able to find time to do other things.
Tips for prospective students Be sure to go to tutoring so you dont fall behind. Join a few organizations to make friends and be willing to try something new.
In three sentences Love that the school is close to home. The buildings are in close proximity to each other which makes it easy to get to class. Lastly, I like that there is free transportation around the campus if you need it.

Food and Dining They have a plentiful plan for dinning at Carrol. If you don't like what they have you can always try some where else. The campus is located near many local restaurants.
Dorm Life The dorms at Carroll are plentiful bigger than an average dorm you'd see on campus today. However there are some dorms on campus that the heater is too loud, or the rooms are really small. The chances of getting into those dorms are slim.
Academic Rigor They have excellent teachers at Carroll. If you are someone who might need a little extra help then this would be a school to go to. If the teachers do not help there are higher authority's that will help you.
Tips for prospective students Carroll Will help you if you are shy to any extend. It will really push your boundaries. Also Waukesha is a small town, so there really is nothing to fear.

Clubs and Activities Chemistry club is great, I joined in and I immediately felt welcome and because of being in the club I have become more outgoing.
Bang for the buck The school is quite expensive, but it is definitely worth the extra buck.
What to do for fun There are many CU around campus activities that we can attend, they are always a lot of fun.
Food and Dining The food is always delicious and fresh. Though there should be a little more variety in the menu.
Dorm Life The dorms are great, and the people living in them are awesome. Though having the boilers turned off and having to take a cold shower is an inconvenience.
Academic Rigor The teachers are super nice, and if you are struggling then they try and make time if their office hours are at an inopportune time. Also, the learning commons is a huge help.
In three sentences I absolutely love Carroll! The school is so generous to the community that I want to help more. The faculty and the students here are so helpful, and it is so nice to be helped whenever I need it.

Campus safety is open 24 hours a day for the needs and safety of students,
Clubs and Activities Carroll offers a wide variety of clubs and organizations. There is one for every student attending. Also, Carroll offers a great chance to get involved in the culture of others and provides opportunities, such as studying abroad or taking trips over breaks, that some schools do not offer.

Categories Comments What to do for fun Carroll is in a very wonderful location. Around campus there are two shopping malls, a brand new shopping center with a TJ Maxx, Ulta, and Charming Charlies. There are also many organizations on campus that a student can choose from.
Food and Dining There is only one main dining area on campus and as a Junior, I am quite sick of the same meals every few weeks. The Pioneer Indoor Terrace has great options, however, if you're looking for a fresh salad you won't find one anymore. I believe that this is one of the shortfalls of living on campus, but there are ways around it like making your own meals or visiting Au Bon Pain.
Dorm Life Dorm life is fun for the first few years because you get to meet a bunch of people. The process for picking a dorm to live in is quite stressful come registration time though. The RA's are friendly and are willing to help in any way possible.
Academic Rigor Classes at Carroll are held at a high standard. Studying every night is not abnormal, but it will help in the long run. If the classes wouldn't be challenging then it would be hard to learn, so the work is well worth it.
Tips for prospective students It's okay if you don't know what you want to study when you first attend school. The advisors are wonderful and will help guide you in the right direction. Never be afraid to change your mind, college is about finding what's right for you, so make sure you're enjoying what you're studying.

Clubs and Activities Though Carroll does not have as many clubs or activities as major universities, chances are you can find a club or two that matches your interests. Intramural sports are a big thing on campus and competitive, but organizations exist based off service, academic interests, cultural interests or even just places to have fun.
Great for these types of students Great for students that are motivated and want to be really involved. You will get to know your professors and make connections to a lot of people. It's good for people who are good at getting to know people by themselves. It's also good for those that are okay not partying every weekend and also who enjoy having a few close friends rather than a huge group of friends.
Bang for the buck Carroll offers good financial aid merit-wise, and they take in to account for special circumstances. The ticket price is never what you actually pay to go to Carroll. The fund that we do pay, though, are questionable as to where they go. Many students complain of the money being spent on trivial things, and would like to see more money going in to new buildings or supplies.
What to do for fun Carroll lacks in this department to some, and for some it's perfect. Many students choose to leave on the weekends but things can still be found to do. Parties are avoidable but also do happen. So the option is there, but most students do not party. There are many organizations on campus that offer activities for students on the weekends such as trips to Chicago for really cheap or campus wide events. Most people spend their time outside in the spring and fall when it's nice outside playing volleyball or walking downtown.
Food and Dining The food is of fairly good quality, but Carroll severely lacks choices. There are three main options for food at Carroll. The Main Dining Room, which is buffet style and usually offers something okay to eat, but it gets repetitive. The PIT has three fast-food type places to eat which are good for late night runs and is open more often, but poor when it comes to nutrition. Au Bon Pain is a sandwich, salad, and soup place that offers very good food and is open from 7am-9pm every day. This is probably the healthiest place on campus as far as options for food to go, but can be an inconvenience as it is on the far side of campus.
Dorm Life It all depends on where you live and what you make out of it. The traditional dorms are old, but fairly spacious. Living in the traditional dorms your first year is a good idea to make friends, but it can be challenging with older buildings especially in bathrooms and lack of wi-fi. The new, non-traditional dorms are very nice, but also very expensive. They are a good fit once one is established at Carroll.
Academic Rigor Some classes are very difficult, but general education classes can be a joke. Take classes that are relevant but also push you to do more. Physics and engineering classes lack good professors, but most other subject areas have approachable professors that want the best for their students.
Tips for prospective students Getting involved will be your key to success here. Carroll is definitely what you make of it. It's not a party school and the weekends can get pretty dead. Overall, Carroll is good for a motivated student who wants to get involved and try things that might be out of their comfort zone in order to have the best experience. Pay attention to scholarship opportunities, take advantage of Supplemental Instruction and tutors, and make connections.
In three sentences Carroll is a small, typical liberal arts school. It excels in the sciences and most of its student population consists of nursing and physical therapy/exercise science majors. Carroll places a large emphasis on cultural experiences and diversity.
