    Campus Safety

great! there are special lighted telephones all over campus, so that if you have an emergency you can utilize one of these. we have campus security officers that roam all over the campus. the campus is very well-lit at night, including the parking garages at ccc and uw-b.

    Greek Life

    none

    Clubs and Activities

    1. cascadia secular student alliance. 2. creative arts club. 3. disability student alliance. 4. drama club. 5. film making club. 6. gay straight alliance. 7. grassroots. 8. international club 9. national society of leadership and success. 10. next generation it club. 11. outdoor adventure 12. phi theta kappa. 13. swing dance club. 14. the urban gathering - christian club. 15. veterans club.

Great for these types of students

students who like a smaller campus and smaller class sizes. students who have any type of disabilities, campus has wheelchair accessable bathrooms and classrooms, plus elevators. great for non-traditional college students.

Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus

there is a wetland near the campus, with wonderful walking trails. there is a very large grassy knoll between the buildings that one can lay out on in-between class time and catch some sun.

    Bang for the buck

the class sizes are smaller than a 4-year university for freshmen and sophomores. smaller campus so one does not get lost, or feel overwhelmed with too many buildings to navigate. off campus: there is (within walking distance) the lyon's den cafe, where a ccc student can obtain a 10% discount on drinks. alexa's cafe in down town bothell where a ccc student can get 10% off a meal. plus there are other discounts available if one uses their ccc student i.d. card. if you purchase anything school related at the uw-b bookstore then you will get 10% back from what you spend as a credit at the end of the school year. you do have to register each new school year to obtain this credit.

    What to do for fun

    1. join clubs and attend club events. 2. there are often free movie nights in mobius hall. 3. i went to a poetry reading in mobius, so there are other events held there besides movies. 4. a few dances per year are held on campus. 5. rock climbing through the outdoor adventure club, off campus.

    Food and Dining

    1. subway has sandwiches and salads. 2. uw-b bookstore has food for thought cafe where the prices are very expensive, but the food is healthier. 3. ccc has stop watch espresso, whre there is a multitude of food choices and the prices are more reasonable. 4. uw-b has the commons, where sometimes they have $3.00 meal deals, otherwise the prices are more expensive. 5. there are vending machines throught ccc where you can purchase snacks of all kinds, and even use your debit card or cash.

    Dorm Life

none as of right now, as this is a commuter campus and and a 2-year community college.

    Academic Rigor

there are some teachers who do not believe in ever giving a 4.0 to a student, so make sure you do your research. i was told that for every one hour of class time you will need to study at least two hours on your own.

    Tips for prospective students

    1. research who your professors are. 2. subway has $5.00 sub sandwiches. 3. ccc/uw-b library has quiet study spaces, and you can even eat in the library!

    In three sentences

    1. friendly students. 2. clean campus. 3. green campus.

    Campus Safety

Super safe campus. I don't think there have been any problems in years, and I've never felt uncomfortable walking to my car alone in the dark.

    What to do for fun

There is a bike trail outside and a piano on the third floor of the main building.

    Food and Dining

There are two little coffee shops that offer a small food selection, and over at UWB (it's a shared campus) there is a Subway and I believe another coffee place. You're also just minutes away from more coffee shops and some grocery and restaurant options.

    Dorm Life

This is a community college and doesn't offer on-campus housing.

    Academic Rigor

You'll have to work your butt off, but it will be worth it.

    Tips for prospective students

If you are not majoring in science, computers, or sociology, another college might be better for you. There are no music classes (as far as theory and performance go) and no recreational options.

    In three sentences

Cascadia is great with academics, and as long as you are a liberal feminist you will do fine. However, the environment can get hostile towards those who have non-liberal beliefs and are not afraid to voice them. You will learn a lot at this school, but not be encouraged to think from more than one angle in most classes.

    What to do for fun

There are events happening all the time. I participated in a game of Ultimate Frisbee, and helped set up a bouncy castle for a fair in the same week. There are movies showing every month.

    Academic Rigor

Challenging, but not so difficult that you have to study every minute for the latest in a long line of brain-breaking tests

    Tips for prospective students

Keep a warm jacket or sweater on you, the campus gets very cold during the night, or even the day!

    In three sentences

Cascadia Staff are very friendly and helpful. The facilities and teaching aid technology are up to date, and the Buildings are built o be pleasing to the eyes. Very good college

    Campus Safety

the campus has good security that patrols the grounds often. the campus also has emergency phones on each level in case of an emergency.

    Clubs and Activities

there are tons of clubs and activities you can attend, such as it club, game design club, dancing, speaker series, misc. activities. there's no way you wouldn't know about an existing club they are posted every where through out the campus.

Great for these types of students

if you're interested in a tech job or are interested in getting a transfer degree then this is the college for you.

Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus

there's a spot on the campus that have wooden statues standing in a circle near the woods. there is also an area that has 1's and 0's engraved into the ground in a couple of broken up circles. it is supposed to be a code, and the purpose for it, is for someone to decode it. so far no one has been able to figure it out, as far as i know.

    What to do for fun

there is a piano on the second level of the cc2 building, and most of the time there is someone playing on it. i enjoy listening to it to pass the time until my next class starts.

    Food and Dining

there's a small cafe, some chairs to lounge in and a subway!

    Dorm Life

there are no on campus dorms.

    Tips for prospective students

tips i would give to students that plan on attending cascadia are to pay your parking fees, and turn in your books and/or dvd's on time! overdue books or dvd's are charged 50 cents for everyday when not returned on time. not paying your parking fees results in a 20 dollar fine. you also need to be careful not to park on the white lines. be sure your car is straight or that will result in an even larger fine of 25 dollars.

    In three sentences

cascadia is very conscience about the environment and all about saving and recycling resources. the buildings are large and open with lots of windows. teachers really care about your education and really go the extra mile to help you.

    Food and Dining

They have a Subway on campus, so grabbing lunch/dinner is easy and fairly cheap. There is also a small cafe corner and UW Bothell's Food for Thought cafe, which are really popular and great on a student's budget.

    Dorm Life

There are no dorms for Cascadia students, because it is a community college. However, finding a place to stay is pretty simple; so many people are willing to take in a roommate. There are always ads on campus for people looking for new roommates!

    Academic Rigor

Surprisingly (for a community college), the classes here are tough, but you learn a lot from them. The class sizes are small so asking questions and meeting with a professor/teacher is really simple and effective for learning.

    Campus Safety

A few complaints about car break-in, but nothing major.

    Clubs and Activities

Swing Club, Nerd Haven, GSA, etc.

Great for these types of students

Great for the self-driven, or those getting back in to learn about something.

    Bang for the buck

Pretty average for a community college I think, but worlds cheaper that a four-year institution.

    What to do for fun

Their is a variety of events held at Cascadia. The clubs like the Swing club or even the Nerd Haven. They also play movies and hold special events in the Mobius Hall or the Event Center.

    Food and Dining

An available call-in or walk-in Subway, two cafes, and a variety of vending machines with plenty of drinks and snacks.

    Dorm Life

    No dorm, I believe.

    Academic Rigor

The courses depend on each teacher, of course, but so far when I used the teacher rating site, I came away with a pretty good understand of what they were about. The average workload is pretty minimal, they say prepare 20 hours a week for study and homework, but I think only 2-4 hours a week or less is good enough, and I'm doing really well.

    Tips for prospective students

Although their is a bookstore coupled with a cafe near the kiddy-corner to the shared library, try getting your books for cheaper elsewhere. Find a quite environment for you to work in and be prepared to be involved with some computers. Also their is a cafe in the CC1-CC2 building with a microwave for use, and also a Subway on campus which you should (and can) call in and pre-order to pick up since it is really busy. Try using ratemyprofessor.org to get the best quality instructors. Try to come early for parking, and hope to be lucky.

    In three sentences

Cascadia Community College is a friendly community centered learning environment. It sit next to the University of Washington Bothell campus, and is quite diverse and friendly. It is a wonder school for those just exiting high school or reentering the educational world.

    What to do for fun

There are movie nights, you can get involved in many groups.

    Food and Dining

There's a cafe and its pretty good.

    Dorm Life

I don't live in a dorm, so I would not know.

    Academic Rigor

I'm assuming it's a tought but easy-at-times type of school.

    Tips for prospective students

Learn how to manage your time. College is a lot different than high school but with a strong self motivator, the quarters will fly by.

    In three sentences

The Kodiak staff is extremely helpful when one needs questions answered, whether the question is about financial aid or registering, they can help you. Registering for classes is not simple when you are starting as a freshman, but the CORE sessions provided at Cascadia make the process smoother. Cascadia shares a campus with UW Bothell and the students get along well. Random people will say hi and walk to class with you; it's always nice to meet someone new.

    Campus Safety

    Pretty safe.

    Clubs and Activities

This is the one area that they do really well.

    Bang for the buck

This is one of the best ways to meet gen ed requirements and then transfer to a real college.

    What to do for fun

Get away from campus. Cascadia is surrounded by things to do outdoors.

    Food and Dining

Eat off campus. Unless you can eat Subway for all your meals. The coffee at the local shop is excellent though.

    Dorm Life

Dorms are still in their infancy here and only for University of WA, Bothell students. Cascadia is a predominately commuter college.

    Academic Rigor

Be prepared for group work. Unless you're really lucky, this means that one or two students do all the work and everyone gets the same grade. Most professors do not handle the groupwork requirement very well.

    Tips for prospective students

Summer and short term (Pre-Fall) classes are often better than those offered during the regular school year as the classes are smaller, move faster and cover more material that the professor is personally interested in.

    In three sentences

Cascadia offers a broad base of general requirements for most degree paths. Unfortunately, beyond intro courses, there is not much depth of subjects to help develop an educational passion. There are lots of ways to get involved through clubs.

    Lots and Lots

Great for these types of students

Students that really want to learn, not a slacker school.

    Bang for the buck

Its the 2nd rated community college in the nation, and you definately learn a lot in the classes.

    What to do for fun

Lots of clubs. Movie nights every month in the auditorium, very often there's an Ultimate Frisbee game going on on one of the greens.

    Food and Dining

Small cafe, and a Subway branch on campus.

    Dorm Life

    NA, no dorms.

    Academic Rigor

It depends on the class of course, but most of the teachers push hard and fast.

    Tips for prospective students

Study hard, and don't procrastinate, the teachers really push you to learn.

    In three sentences

Cascadia, has great teachers and academic facilities. It is short on sports facilities. Cascadia has a very committed and involved student body government.

Great for these types of students

Because of the limited number of classes, it's a great school for those who know exactly what major they're pursuing because it allows them to focus on the classes they need. For adults going back to school is a great example- freshman who have no idea, not so much.

    What to do for fun

There are clubs such as swing dance, drama, writing and a variety of others. Many times durning the afternoon there are Ultimate frisbee tournaments.

    Food and Dining

Because the campus is connected to UW Bothell's campus, students can walk on over to Subway, or the UW bookstore which sells delicious sandwhiches and snacks. There are vending machines in every Cascadia building and a little shop in CC1 to buy instant lunches and such. Because it's only 10 minutes away from downtown Bothell or Woodinville, it's easy to find food!

    Dorm Life

    Non-existent. It's a community college.

    Academic Rigor

Some classes are fairly time consuming and detail oriented.

    Tips for prospective students

Definitely attend here if you know the major you intend to pursue. With limited class selections, it's perfect for students who know exactly what they want to do- it's also a direct transfer to many schools in WA.

    In three sentences

It's a great school with knowledgeable professors. There are limited choices in classes however- it is a very small school. It's a great location aswell, you can catch the bus or take a short drive to neighboring cities.

    Academic Rigor

Most of the classes at Cascadia are fairly easy and because the class sizes are small the teachers tend to be more available to help you outside of class.

    Tips for prospective students

Since Ive been attending there has been construction and therefore not much extra space, but once the construction is done it seem there will be an open park-like area.

    Bang for the buck

I found that the teachers really try to relate their coursework to things that will help you in your day-to-day life. Which make the classes feel like they are worth more to you, while the classes are already at a fair price.
