Great for these types of students

Students who want to have their professors easily accessible for questions will love Central Christian College of Kansas. Those who want their professors to know them by name will love Central. If they want a close community with friendly people, students should come to Central. Those who want to grow in their Christian faith or want to learn more about God should come to Central. It is a wonderful place to enjoy a safe, friendly college experience.

    Tips for prospective students

My tip to prospective students would be to prepare yourselves to move from high school to college. Somethings work differently in college than they do in high school, but that does not have to be a bad thing. As long as you are willing to adjust, the changes can be made easily. Academically, be prepared for the professors to ask more of you than you think you can handle in the time you have. As long as you manage your time wisely, the homework can be done in time. Socially, be willing to involve yourself. The students I see having the hardest time are the ones who do not get involved on campus and are constantly negative about their new surroundings. Try to look for the good, be willing to try new things, and make new friends. Getting involved right away is the best way to make friends and feel pleased with your college experience.

    Bang for the buck

College prices are always scary; but, with financial aid and savings the price does not have to cause anyone to turn away. At Central, Financial Aid is very helpful. There are many scholarships for students to receive to help with the cost. Once a student starts life here he can see how valuable his experience is going to be. From academics to student activities, the college experience at Central Christian College is definitely one of the best.

    Am enjoying being here

The small campus community encourages close friendships among students. I am enjoying the friends I have made immensely. There are always plenty of events happening on campus. These events can be anywhere from a night of acoustic music to an afternoon of intramural sports. There are also plenty of service opportunities for students to get involved with. The chapel services are also a great way to learn about God and connect with Him through worship. Vespers is one of the best events at Central. Each Sunday night, a student led worship service (Vespers) takes place. It is so spiritually uplifting and challenging. The speakers and worship band are all students. It is a great time to learn from one another and worship together.

    Am learning a lot

Central Christian College of Kansas offers a wide variety of classes. The professors possess much knowledge in their fields. The small classes make it easy to have time to talk to the professors. The art classes are tailored to the stage each student is at. The sports teams are close and work hard to do well. The music department has their own building for performances. The quality of academics is high.

    Food and Dining

    Great!

    Dorm Life

Dorm life is nice, however there are some dorms that are more studious than others.

    Academic Rigor

The academic rigor is, form my impression from former students, moderate.

    Tips for prospective students

The college was very good about getting back to me as I had questions about the application process, it was very personal.

    Campus Safety

Campus safety is alright. I have never felt like I am unsafe walking alone across campus. The real problems are inside the dorms. A lot of people get their possessions stolen by other students.

    Bang for the buck

This school is terrible. They do not tell the truth about what programs they have here and they suck you in with great scholarships. The truth is...everyone here gets scholarships. They're not that big of a deal because you are still left paying a ton of money for a mediocre education. There is basically no aviation, pre-law and definitely not a pre-med degree. They will tell you that you can come get your basic science credits. Don't buy it. Seriously, if you're interested in pre-med...DO NOT EVEN CONSIDER THIS COLLEGE. The music department and majors have way too many credits required that force you to take at least 16 hours per semester plus classes you often have to audit or even just show up for to keep your major. All of those also will require you to spend hours and hours of your time wasted on music lessons that do not teach you anything. It is a waste of time and money. Overall, this school is not what it claims to be. They are really good at putting on a show. Anyone will be accepted to anything because the school is so desperate for students. The only way to get off the meal plan is to work A LOT. However, even then, if you literally miss every single meal, you will only get $350 off of the almost 2,000 you have to pay each semester. The cafeteria is very small and crowded.

    What to do for fun

Go to walmart. Not kidding. That's the only thing to do around here. Or if you know the right people, you can get drugs. That's not good. There is a serious drug program running through the campus. People often get kicked out for this unless they are on a sports team. The sports kids are given way more lenience.

    Food and Dining

The food here has been getting worse since the first year that I got here. The silverware, plates and cups do not get washed. We consistently find chunks of food on everything and lip prints on our cups. They blame it on the fact that we have hard water, but it's amazing how crystal clear they were when it was a preview weekend. The chicken is often uncooked, people literally get sick quite a few times after they eat, and the drink machines are hardly every stocked. They remodeled it which only made it worse. Last semester, people literally stood in line for 45 minutes to even get in. Dinner only lasts 45 minutes...on weekdays. On weekends, it's 30. So they were making people stand in line for the entirety of dinner just to get in simply because they decided to start serving people instead of letting them serve their own and move along. The cafeteria is terrible.

    Dorm Life

As long as you are fine with living in dorms where the foundation and building is literally leaning over more and more, you will love it. You are forced to live in the dorm and the only reasons you can get out is if you are married, are living with your family, or turn 23. Let's be honest though....how many people really turn 23 when they are in college? Most of us are stuck. Also, the way they put you in the dorms is according to a housing lottery. You can accumulate points throughout the year and the people with the highest amount of points gets to choose first. However, they block off the best rooms for the freshmen because they are so desperate to make a good impression. The seniors who literally do everything for the school and get tons of points get the crappy rooms. That is messed up. The apartments are no better. I have lived in an apartment and literally we have had a flooded hallway, laundry room and kitchen all in the same semester. Our building is leaning over so the doors do not shut anymore, the front door gets stuck, and we have watched the cracks in our ceilings grow.

    Academic Rigor

The academics are a joke. I literally have procrastinated on everything, hardly shown up for classes, barely put any effort and brainpower into this school and I am still getting a 4.0. Easy. Go somewhere that will be challenging.

    Tips for prospective students

Seriously consider whether you really want to come here. I'm being completely honest, everything will frustrate you and make you wish you had never come. Most students here hate literally everything about the school but are stuck because their credits will not transfer to other colleges.

    In three sentences

This school gives false information when recruiting students. Credits do not transfer elsewhere. The Academics are not challenging at all.

    Campus Safety

The campus is small enough everyone knows everyone, so if there is some one who does not belong people will know.

    Clubs and Activities

We do not have that many clubs but the ones that are on campus are very active. Especially Central's FBLA-PBL chapter!

Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus

Two of Central's best traditions are two events each year, El Tigre and Mock Rock! El Tigre happens each fall, it is the equivalent of a male fashion show, it is FANTASTIC! Mock Rock happens in the spring and is a lip sync competition. Everyone on campus comes out for these events every year!

    Bang for the buck

Comparatively Central is dirt cheap! I will be done with my sophomore year with only $2000 in loans. They do a good job of trying to keep college affordable. Central also has the Presidents Opportunity Challenge. The POC program enables certain students to work for the school in exchange for the majority of their tuition.

    What to do for fun

Central is in a little town, so sometimes you have to get creative, but those memories are always more fun anyways! We watch a lot of movies on campus, there is always a movie playing on campus in at least one of the dorms. Besides movies and Netflix, the student activities councile and student development do a pretty good job of making sure there is an event at least once a week.

    Food and Dining

Cafeteria food will always be cafeteria food. However, every year it is improving and they keep taking polls to see what we like and what we do not. At Central they are at least trying to provide a quality dining experience.

    Dorm Life

I love dorm life. The girls on my floor are some of my best friends. It is not uncommon if someone is sick in the dorm or if someone got hurt for my floor to get together and pray for them and the situation.

    Academic Rigor

This school has fantastic teachers. The classes all set a standard of what they expect, after that it comes down to the idea of the more you put in the more you will get out of it!

    Tips for prospective students

If you want to be known as more than a number come check out Central. Faculty and staff will know who you are. They care about me more as a person than as a student in their class. They want to see me succeed in all of life as well as in their classes.

    In three sentences

Central is a Christian community that is working to build well rounded graduates. It is not perfect, no college will be but it is the closest I found.
