    Discipline yourself-do not take the easy way out! Extra credit is great, and always challenge yourself. Cerro Coso can really help prepare you for a four-year college later on. Most, if not every, class is transferable.

    Keep in contact with your counselors and status of the courses you are trying to transfer from. Because there is no real standardization of courses in California it is up to you and the counselor to make sure you stay on track according to the college you wish to transfer to. Take advantage of the free tutoring program in the LRC. There is no excuse not to have a tutor when its FREE.

    Make sure that you apply for all of the available grants and scholarships that are being offered. Though the classes are not that expensive, it helps when you are on a fixed budget or not employed.
