Categories Comments Great for these types of students There isn't a student who wouldn't benefit from Chapman. Specifically, however, I would say the types of students that would succeed the most at this University would be: academically motivated, social, eager, and involved
Tips for prospective students Go into life at Chapman with excitement and be prepared to jump right into the many things it has to offer. My experience has been so successful because I had a hunger to experience and take advantage all of Chapman's many opportunities to learn and expand myself. Be ready to take it head on :)
Am enjoying being here Chapman offers something to suit each individual's interests and hobbies. The people are amazing, and one can attain just about anything they are looking for on and off campus.
Am learning a lot The classes are extremely challenging but the professors are wonderful in the fact that they keep the students engaged and excited about the course and subject matter. I love my professors and everything that I am learning

Categories Comments Great for these types of students Chapman is great for Film students, Law students, Business students, Actors, and anyone seeking a good future.
Tips for prospective students Choose a school that is an appropriate size for you. If you want a major football school, look into that. If you want a school with a large amount of people, look into that. If there are certain clubs or teams you are interested in, really see what the school has to offer. If you like smaller classrooms with a good teacher-to-student relationship, nice facilities, good relationships with peers and professors, then you will love Chapman.
Bang for the buck Paying top dollar for top education.
Am enjoying being here Home cooking will be missed, but the dining facility is unbelievable. It is unreal for a college. The dorms are spacious and comfortable.
Am learning a lot I am learning about subjects that were unclear for me in the past, and being able to expand my knowledge on subjects that are interesting and not commonly discussed is what someone should look for in a college.

Categories Comments Great for these types of students I see so many different people on campus, that I don't know if there is a big stereotype. I was afraid that being in Orange County, it was going to be full of a bunch of uber-rich Southern California kids, but it really isn't. It's just a great place to meet a bunch of different students.
Tips for prospective students Be sure to get to know as many students as you can during orientation week. Also important to talk to professors and get to know them, because they will respond better when you are struggling or need a letter of recommendation later down the road.
Bang for the buck I know that tuition and living expenses are pricey and up there, but it is so worth it. Just be sure to really make it worth your money. Study and go to class! Don't take your teacher having no attendance policy as an excuse to not go to class. If you go to class and take up every opportunity they offer, it is worth every penny.
Am enjoying being here It is such a great environment and I have made so many friends that I know will be lifelong friends. The school is in a great location and close to so many different places... Disneyland, the beach, the mountains, the city... it's all there!
Am learning a lot I have never felt so engaged and been challenged to this amount. Classes are hard, but they make me really want to study and do well in the class. The professors are really there to help you and I have found that if you go talk to them and ask them questions, they will answer them and it really helps.

Categories Comments Campus Safety Chapman's campus is safe, no doubt about it. We have this mini army of Public Safety officers who make sure you're not drunk in public, or smoking weed by the volleyball courts. If you drive in the wrong direction for a while away from Chapman, you will notice things get a little sketchy. But the city of Orange overall is the chillest place ever.
Greek Life Greek life is a pretty big thing on campus. If you're looking to party it up and become friends with tons of people, I recommend joining! But it's not for everyone. I, for instance, didn't join because although I love to have fun nights out, I cannot stand being social all of the time. God forbid I ever have to small talk more than I did at Freshman Orientation (which is fun by the way, and where you will meet a lot of people).
Clubs and Activities Apply to the Honors Program!! Chapman also has a ton of clubs and activities, so if you were involved in something in high school, chances are you could continue your involvement here at Chapman!
Great for these types of students If you ever visit campus, you will notice that a lot of people are very stylish and attractive. Don't let this stain your impression of the intelligence of Chapman kids. Some kids don't seem to ever study and smoke weed in their bathroom everyday(but still manage a 3.9) and other kids seem to enjoy going crazy only every other weekend and studying until past midnight. Whatever/whoever you are or want to be, you will find your niche at Chapman.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus Undie Run is a semi-annual tradition that takes place on the Wednesday night of finals week. Basically, you wear your underwear and run around school and the main street of the city of Orange. Sounds ridiculous, but it's actually a LOT of fun. Plus, Chapman students are notoriously very attractive so...
Bang for the buck Yes, it's a private school so it's expensive. But again, Chapman gives away so much in scholarships. Also, as a student you will be well pampered. As you walk through campus you will be surrounded by beautiful architecture, landscape, fountains, and marble. As you sit through lecture, you will notice we have some of the most interesting and intellectual professors. As you wonder about your future, you will have access to almost an unlimited supply of resources concerning internships and job opportunities. How much you get out of your tuition depends on how much involvement you initiate yourself.
What to do for fun You are in ORANGE COUNTY. There is an infinite amount of things to do for fun. Being a kid in Disneyland, napping at Newport Beach, clubbing in West Hollywood, partying in Los Angeles, partying at school, partying at USC/UCLA, or the best thing to do in college--NAP WHENEVER YOU WANT.
Food and Dining Our dining hall has an Asian station (sushi everyday!), European station, American station, Panini/Salad bar, desert station, you name it. There is only one dining hall, but this is sufficient given the size of the school. There are also places on campus that are included in the meal plan (Jamba Juice, Einstein Bagels, WOW wings, library cafe, another cafe in the business school....). Also, Henley Basement is open from 8pm late into the night for midnight snacks. You will not go hungry.
Dorm Life Every room has its own bathroom! Not to mention the dorms are kept nice and clean by the cleaning staff. The only downside is that we have a few dorm halls that are more outdated than the newer buildings. Where ever you live on campus though, you will enjoy college life and its immense amount of freedom.
Academic Rigor Our academic performance is constantly compared to schools with big names, and I'm proud to say that our academics are just as impressive as other well-known schools like USC! The top places to study here are at the business school or the film school.
Tips for prospective students Don't be scared away by the private school tuition. Chapman has SO much money to give away through scholarships, especially if you performed well in high school and on SATs. Also, if possible check out the campus! It's true that different schools have different feels, and you'll want to see for yourself if Chapman can be your new home.
In three sentences Chapman University is an up-and-coming school, as seen through not only the expansion of campus facilities but the growth in student resources. Chapman will continue to grow for the simple reason that people with not just higher SAT scores but higher ambitions are applying to and choosing to attend Chapman. At this school you will find the perfect balance of a challenging workload and a fun social life.

Categories Comments Great for these types of students Anyone going into the arts or humanities.
Tips for prospective students Don't let the price tag intimidate you. And if you're looking for a large-school atmosphere or a party school, you may want to rethink Chapman.
Bang for the buck Very VERY expensive, but also very generous with scholarships. And definitely worth it.
Am enjoying being here Aside from academics, the people are incredibly friendly. Even though I'm an art major, I have friends in almost every section of the school. That's just how the campus is set up. It's also a relatively small school, so chances are you'll see at least three people you know on the way to and from class. A very nice and welcoming environment.
Am learning a lot I've had such a great time with all my professors. They're all very personable and willing to talk to you. I lucked out with classmates as well, almost all of whom actually wanted to be in the class. I love it here.

Categories Comments Tips for prospective students Get involved! A.S plans tons of events for the students, and the sports games are fun if you show your spirit. And while most students complain about dorms, Chapman's dorms are nice, and the dorm life experience is a must. Make an effort to meet the other people in your hall. And aside from social life, of course prepare to focus in your academics as well.
Am enjoying being here It's an amazing campus and only 20 minutes from Newport Beach!
Am learning a lot You will learn as much as the effort you put into your classes.

Categories Comments Campus Safety Public Safety is everywhere, all the time. I have never felt unsafe on campus.
Greek Life Greek life runs most of the night time social scene at Chapman. Chapman, however, is not a big time party school. Kickbacks are more common. All frats allow non-members to party with them. You just have to know where the party is.
Clubs and Activities Chapman has over 80 student-run clubs on campus. If none of them suite your fancy, it's quite easy to start one and receive funding for it (~$200 per semester). Chapman really promotes students getting involved with the community and with their peers.
Great for these types of students All types of students. All the students at Chapman are fun, personable, and happy to be there. If your looking for a major athletic college, however, you might want to look elsewhere.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus The last Wednesday of Finals week, the students get together for the annual Undie Run. As the name implies, everyone strips down to their underwear and run down the street to downtown Orange and back. Over 1,000+ students participate.
Bang for the buck On paper, Chapman seems to be quite expensive. However, with more than 85% of students receiving a 20K scholarship, Chapman is actually cheaper than UCLA. The personal attention from the professors and small class size (less than 30 students) cannot be matched by comparable schools.
What to do for fun Go to Disneyland! We got an annual pass an went over 50 times our freshmen year. Park in the Disneyland parking lot and get three hours of free parking. Download the Disneyland Wait Time app on your phone to know when the park is empty.
Food and Dining The food available at the Caf is overall quite good. You use a swipe to get into the Caf and then it is all you can eat. I helped run a food blog named NomsorNot.com which reviewed the food available at Chapman during the 11-12 school year.
Dorm Life Since Chapman's recently explosion of applicatns, only Freshmen and Sophomores can live on campus. Freshmen dorm placement depends on the student's interest as Chapman likes to put students with similar interest together. North Morlan is the only freshmen dorm with two roommates per room. Every other freshmen dorm is three per room.
Academic Rigor Chapman is not easy. The liberal arts ideals challenges students to take a variety of classes not directly tied to their major. These classes, however, are interesting and allow one to meet explore new areas of focus. Chapman's professors are also very personable and easy to access.
Tips for prospective students Apply Early!! Chapman has a lot of scholarship money to give out and you have a better chance to receive it the earlier you apply. Also, visit the school. Take the daily tour, meet the director/professors in your field of interest, and ask questions.
In three sentences Chapman is a small tight-knit university with a lot of spirit. If you are serious about your education, like small classrooms, want to get involved, and want to know your professors, this is hands-down the place to attend. Beautiful weather and a wonderful community.

Categories Comments Great for these types of students Chapman is the place for those who: -want to be taught by recognized experts -are inquisitive and desire professional answers -appreciate small class sizes -desire to be the best they can be
Tips for prospective students If you have decided to become part of the amazing Chapman experience then I would like to say: -Ask questions! Chapman is one of the few places where you are sitting close enough for a professor to see your raised hand. -Visit your professors during office hours. All of the professors have an office time where you can meet them after class and ask for help on assignments or the material taught. -Bring a jacket to the annual Undie Run. Rumor has it that it gets cold.
Bang for the buck Chapman's world class professors, small class sizes and state-of-the-art facilities does come with a price. However, Chapman is very generous and hands out grants to most students to cover a substantial amount of the tuition ticket. Dear reader, you are most likely one of those students and you will see a portion, if not half or more, of your tuition being covered.
Am enjoying being here Chapman is a small school that offers unbelievable class sizes (the largest lecture hall holds about 100 students--average class sizes at public institutions are easily seven times that amount). Unfortunately for me, Chapman doesn't support all of my interests (however, I've been having a hard time finding a place that does!) but for most people Chapman will help you achieve your goals--academic and personal.
Am learning a lot If you like to learning directly from the experts is what you want then you will love Chapman. Chapman's classes are taught by world renowned professors including Nobel Prize winner Dr. Vernon L. Smith, winner of the Wolff Prize Yakir Aharonov and the famous political scientist Dr. Lori Cox Hans who taught my freshman class. Be the envy of your friends by learning from the best.

Categories Comments Great for these types of students Low Income, Mid Income, students who require one on one attention, students who work better in smaller environments.
Tips for prospective students Jump in with both feet. Join everything you can handle. Go to mixers, go to networking meetings and study study study. Remember College is fun, it's a new world, new experience and you should enjoy every facet of it.
Bang for the buck They offer Pell Grants, CalGrants and Federal Student Loans to help students prepare their financial needs.
Am enjoying being here Small class size is a plus in this institution. The fact that they merged with another school shows a real commitment to the students and the future of their school.
Am learning a lot Chapman University offers me the support and small class size that all students would need to succeed in their choice to continue on in their educational goals. The professors treat us equally and are experienced in the field they instruct us in. I feel that any student that attends Chapman is in for the best time of their life. It has old school charm as well as new innovative techniques to help us grow as young adults into productive ones.

Categories Comments Great for these types of students Everyone. Literally all kinds of people here. I'm a graphic design major and a baseball player and I feel welcome everywhere. That's the great thing about this school, it's an art school, but there's so many great majors to take in addition to football, basketball, baseball, lacrosse and Greek life.
Tips for prospective students For incoming freshmen, really read into the FFC you're signing up for, I extremely dislike my FFC, it's not at all what I thought it would be. Way too much Greek mythology and Shakespeare which I was over with in high school.
Bang for the buck The school puts a lot of money into looking and nice and making sure the students feel at home, they even pay workers to clean the sidewalks. More funds means greater learning technology, which in the end helps a lot.
Am enjoying being here The campus is beautiful and the class sizes are perfect. Personally I am never overloaded with work, but then again I'm taking relatively simple classes.
Am learning a lot As of right now, I'm taking mostly G.E.s so it's mostly review, not really presenting any new learning materials as of yet, but I really enjoy the classes that I'm taking.

Categories Comments Great for these types of students We have great overall programs, but we get special recognition for our film school, athletic training program, and business.
Tips for prospective students Embrace it all. Give everything a try, because you will never get another chance to do it again.
Bang for the buck Chapman is still expensive as it is a private liberal arts school. I believe that my diploma will be worth more in the future.
Am enjoying being here The Campus is small enough to have great class sizes and a family feel, while still being in the middle of the OC and surrounding area. There is always something to do.
Am learning a lot The College of Educational Studies has done wonders with their programs. Not only is the Athletic Training program one of the top in their area, but the Integrated Educational Studies have been phenomenal as well

Categories Comments Great for these types of students Chapman is especially great for arts students [theatre, dance, music, film]. Their arts programs are recognized for their excellence. I am a theatre major and I love it! Their business school is also renonwned. Great for business majors.
Bang for the buck Though Chapman is a private college-and therefore is expensive-it is well worth it. The experience you get at this school is unlike one you would get at any other college. The programs/classes available are diverse, and Chapman is well-known for many of these programs. Also, they offer great scholarships!
Am enjoying being here Chapman is located in beautiful Southern California. The location could literally not be better. The weather is amazing-and you are conveniently located around ten minutes from Disneyland. Southern California has a lot to offer. The environment at Chapman is very positive. The students and professors are extremely welcoming-you will meet life long friends. There are a huge amount of clubs and organizations available-Chapman offers a well-rounded college experience.
Am learning a lot Chapman University offers many diverse and challenging courses which will not only educate you for your future career-they will prepare you for life. The professors are individuals who have worked in the fields that they are teaching. They have real life experience in these careers and can give you important information about them. They are dedicated to the students. If you seek them out-they are available to you. The professor student ratio is great! If you are looking for personalized attention-Chapman is for you.

Categories Comments Great for these types of students Chapman is a great place for students looking to better themselves and the world. There are so many different places to be involved that if you desire a community, Chapman is the place to find it. A small school ensures you will know a lot of people and having a good time is easy. People here are laid back, but care about their school making for an appealing environment inside and out of the classroom!
Tips for prospective students Get involved in anything and everything. Chapman is such a great place and there are amazing people and faculty here. Don't be afraid to put yourself out there and meet new people, because they will make you a better person. Embrace the opportunities provided by you by the school and don't hold back. Use the library because living in the dorms doesn't create a good environment for studying, and you are going to have to, just because its college doesn't mean it's a cake walk. Just remember to have fun!
Bang for the buck While Chapman may seem a little expensive, the school is worth every penny. The cost of living on campus isn't cheap, but the dorms and dinning commons are great quality. The dorms may seem expensive, but at least you don't have to share a bathroom with 40 other people like at a UC!! The food in the dinning commons is such high quality, and there is constantly a variety so you never get bored. Chapman provides so many opportunities for students through jobs and internships while enrolled and after graduation. Here you don't have to worry about not getting your classes, like at a public school, and getting a degree in 4 years is practically guaranteed.
Am enjoying being here The school is in a great location and surrounded by so many things to do. Chapman is so close to the beach and not a far drive from la or the surrounding areas. Disneyland is within ten minutes, which makes it easy to hop in the car and take a trip to Disneyland for a few hours to reduce stress and have a great time with your friends. The weather is phenomenally! I would never have expected to be outside tanning in December while studying for finals. Chapman is all I could have asked for and more.
Am learning a lot Chapman has a variety of classes that I would never have expected to be able to take. I am learning so much about the world around me from teachers who genuinely care about my education and me as a person. Every class I have taken at Chapman has expanded my horizon and taught me something I was not already aware of.

Categories Comments Great for these types of students - Looking for small class-size - Into film related field - Want to get involved (has many opportunities for students)
Tips for prospective students Get involved with all the opportunities you get to enhance your college experience! Join clubs, participate in residence hall activities, attend special events (such as Undie Run!)...etc. You will definitely meet new people and make some lifelong friends!
Bang for the buck Although the tuition is quite expensive (especially for the film students), it is worth it as you get to have numerous hands-on experience and the chance to make connections with people from the professional fields.
Am enjoying being here At first, I was afraid of having hard time to adapt to the school as an international student. However, the school offers great sources that would assist students like us. The school has many cultural clubs/organizations for students to join. I met many of my good friends from the International Students Club and Asian Pacific Students Associations. New international students, even student from within the states, will feel like they are at home even if their miles away from their real homes.
Am learning a lot I am a film production major student, and I have to say the film school is amazing. It has all the equipments you need to make a 'real' movie (green screen, sound stage, motion capture, editing suite...etc.) Additionally, all the professors have experienced in professional field and worked on notable movies. Therefore students are able to expand their knowledge in-class, and gain experience outside of class.

Categories Comments Great for these types of students It is great if you love Southern California, are interested in Film, Business, Marketing/Advertising, Psychology, Performing Arts, Athletic Training and International Studies. Our Science department is steadily growing, especially in Research and medical professions. Also, if you are from out of the country, it is a great school for international students since we offer several languages and programs for study abroad.
Tips for prospective students Don't worry if you don't know what your major is or if you switch. The decision will be worth it because it means you are more certain of your choice. Also, take advantage of the free resources such as the Academic Advising Center and Career Center. They are very helpful! And if you can, stop by for a visit! The Old Towne Orange Circle is very popular for students and is only a few steps away, full of food, antique shops, and historic places to visit! And take advantage of Study Abroad!
Bang for the buck Chapman is costly, but hunt for scholarships (especially through Cappex!) and find as much financial aid as you can. For the cost though, you do get a quality education and experiences such as lectures with famous scholars, resources that are free, and you have a classroom ratio of 20:1. You also can get involved with so much throughout the year that will really help you succeed at Chapman such as clubs, sororities, fraternities, academic involvement, study abroad and so much more!
Am enjoying being here The campus is gorgeous! You can sit anywhere and feel peaceful. The campus isn't overcrowded and I have met some fabulous people since I have been at Chapman. There are a lot of things to do outside of the classroom and there are plenty of fun spots to do things such as Disneyland, Angels Stadium and the Honda Center.
Academic Rigor I have learned more about myself through the classes I take and discovering my beliefs and defining myself through my strengths. Although I have switched my major from Biology to Psychology, I ultimately learned that I will have more opportunities because I searched for what I really love and who I am, and what I see my future to be as.

Categories Comments Tips for prospective students Definitely visit! I wasn't sure that Chapman was the place for me. I had it in my head that it was too small. The student population was about one and half times that of my high school. Chapman was toward the middle of my list of nine colleges to which I applied. When I visited though, it immediately shot to number one. The feel of the campus, as well as the friendly faces around it, was what led me to be a Panther.
Will enjoy being here I have visited and am moving into the dorms in less than a month. I couldn't be more excited!
Will learn a lot I've talked to past and current students and they all gush about what they've learned. I've also already talked with some professors who seem incredibly passionate and excited about what they teach.

Categories Comments Campus Safety Public safety is always around campus and dorms and they offer rides and or someone to walk to your room late at night. they respond to complaints fairly quick.
Greek Life the best Greek system I have seen. most of the Greek houses work together as a whole rather than competing against each other. if you don't want to be Greek there is to pressure to become Greek. However most students in Greek life are very respectable students.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus UNDIE RUN!!, is not a school sanctioned event......but undie run happens at the end of every semester.
Bang for the buck most students double major and almost every student has one or two minors. it is uncommon for someone to graduate from Chapman with only one major and/or no minors.
What to do for fun Chapman is a small school with out Greek housing, so do not count on there being any of your typical animal house, frat boy college parties. a lot of students go to Disneyland because it is 15 minutes away from campus. There is also the beach, movies, shopping, clubs, trips to Hollywood, amusement parks. pretty much all the bonus of living in southern California.
Food and Dining The cafe is better than most schools. The Student Union has some fun options. The are a lot of restaurants with in walking distance of school.
Dorm Life Expensive but worth it. If your not from southern California, be prepared to be thrown in an episode of the OC.
Academic Rigor expect for every student to come to class having read the assignment and to have their well thought out opinions ready for class discussion.
Tips for prospective students Be involved on campus rather in sports, clubs, student government, or Greek life. otherwise you might have hard time adjusting to Chapman.
In three sentences Chapman is a small school with lots of friendly familiar faces. Chapman has great enthusiastic professors that are very personable. Chapman is really a school that is all about you.

Categories Comments Tips for prospective students I was told by both an admissions counselor and the basketball coach that the school is not strong in biology/pre-medicine majors. The basketball coach went so far as to recommend other schools and advise that I not apply to Chapman at all. Their website and literature do not reflect this at all...in fact, they state the opposite. The tour was a complete waste of time and the flight to Orange Co. from Seattle was a waste of money.
In three sentences The worst campus tour I've taken.

Categories Comments Great for these types of students I really feel like Chapman can appeal to all types of students. The Dodge Film School is ranked as one of the top film school's in all of the nation and offers a excellent selection of courses for students interested in anything film related. In addition, Chapman has a very competitive and highly ranked Business School. There is a Law School, a great Theater and Dance program, a great Athletic Training and Physical Therapy Program. Overall, Chapman has so much to offer for such a small university.
Tips for prospective students I would really recommend that prospective students come visit the campus and spend a good few days on campus and in the town around it. The campus and surrounding city gives off a great feel and is just an amazing environment.
Bang for the buck Since Chapman is a private university, it is quite expensive, however I really feel that the amount of money each student pays in total is absolutely worth everything that Chapman offers. Students definitely see where their money is going because Chapman is great about giving back to the community and more importantly putting the money we pay into the university. We have a stunning campus that continues to grow and beautify, and we have tons of extracurricular activities and events that the University puts on for students in order to give back.
Am enjoying being here I absolutely love Chapman because not only does it provide students with a spectacular education, but it provides students with a plethora of opportunities to get involved in the community, on campus, and with other students. The student life on campus is so fun and exciting. There are always things to be doing and ways to be getting involved.
Am learning a lot Chapman has such a unique learning environment and I am able to really divulge myself into the education and knowledge that Chapman University provides. The classes are small enough to really enhance my learning experience because of the professor to student interaction. Chapman University provides such a personalized education because of the relationships formed between students and professors.

Tips for prospective students Go visit the campus to see what the atmosphere is like..
Bang for the buck Although it is pricey, there is a payment plan so you can pay month to month instead of all at once.
Am enjoying being here I love it here!
Am learning a lot Yes! But since the freshman class is growing it is hard to get on-campus tutoring. Hopefully they fix it soon!

Categories Comments Tips for prospective students Check your financial aid package, ask about their Greek system, ask about their campus activities, and local shopping/places to go.
Bang for the buck This is the reason I had to leave. They do not meet 100% financial need and this is an expensive school. They do offer a lot with some amazing programs but be sure you can afford it.
Did enjoy being here With so many activities and clubs there is always something to do on campus. Many students have Disney passes and go to the park regularly. The students and staff are all really friendly and are always willing to help each other. The students take part in a lot of charity work. This year I know the campus has a goal of 150,000 volunteer hours and last I checked they were at 100,000!
Did learn a lot The classes are great! The professors are passionate about their subjects and encourage students to as well. The classes can be challenging but are doable.

Categories Comments Great for these types of students The film program is fantastic!!!! But there is also Dance, Music, Business, Sociology sciences and athletics. Honestly, there are so many options for a well rounded education, I couldn't cover them all.
Tips for prospective students I would recommend bringing a car if you can. Orange is nice but its a little difficult getting to grocery stores, malls, pharmacies and so on. Plus, if you get a Disneyland pass (which is less than 20 minutes away!!!!) a car is a convenient way of getting there. And if you are a film student, professors prefer that you use locations off campus for your short films. A car would be handy for transporting ,all of that equipment.
Bang for the buck The campus is beautiful and well maintained and people are nice. But tuition is pricey. You should make sure you can afford it.
Am enjoying being here The weather is amazing for one!!!! Also the Campus is not to large, so you are able to meet all types of people. There are also tons of activities going on every week. Whatever you are interested in (community service, music, film, business, dance, etc....) there is something for you. I like how there are so many film screenings each week available to students for free! There are also a number of sororities land fraternities that are always doing something fun.
Am learning a lot There are tons of courses to chose from, so you are bound to find something you are interested in. I myself am a film student and Chapman makes sure that no matter what major you are production, producing, PR, etc....) you learn the basics of visual storytelling.

Categories Comments Great for these types of students I would say all types of students would benefit, As a graduate student I meet people who I will probably work with someday, and people who I enjoy working with.
Am enjoying being here I love being here. It is a very calm and friendly place where you are supported constantly. The food is great and they even have Einstein's bagels.
Academic Rigor The food is very good. It is offered buffet style in Sandhu. On main campus, food is available in Argyos Forum in the form of Einstein's bagels, Jamba Juice and World of Wings. There are also places on campus where you cam get a quick pick me up, as well as all kinds of food places within 5 minutes of the campus.

Categories Comments Great for these types of students Great for people who want nice weather 24/7, live near urban/suburban life, for students majoring in business, performing arts, film/digital art, psychology, education, and athletic training, for those who live in california currently, have a great interest in community service and campus involvement
Tips for prospective students Check out study abroad programs early! They are costly and the application process takes up to a year. Start looking at scholarships and grants and apply for FAFSA!!! Look into on-campus jobs and explore the area. Chapman is located near so many awesome spots like the beaches, Disneyland, sport arenas, and the Circle. Best investment: An annual Disneyland pass :)
Bang for the buck Chapman is costly, but for your buck, you get nice quality and often times lots of free stuff! I volunteered for our Chapman Day of Service and each student got a free jacket (worth about $90) and were exclusively sold to Chapman students who participated in the event! But be prepared when you do look at the price tag however, because it is expensive when you add up your total
Am enjoying being here I have met so many people from all over the country and I am getting involved on and off campus thanks to volunteer opportunities and events/clubs on campus. Not to mention, weather is pretty good out here most of the time. And there is plenty of food options thanks to being next door to the historic Orange Circle
Am learning a lot College is more than just textbooks and all-nighters before finals. At Chapman, I have gotten hands-on experience in some of my classes and I like the fact that my professors use real life examples to correlate what I am learning in the classroom. You also have access to resources that can help clarify questions and expand your research when you study. I have never been taught by a TA; all of the faculty members want to be with their students and they are flexible with helping you succeed with office hours and free tutoring.

Categories Comments Campus Safety Campus Public Safety on patrol 24/7 and safety escort available.
Greek Life Majority of students are part of Greek. Look forward to Greek Week, Skit and Airband!
Clubs and Activities Academic, Social, Greek, Sport are available
Great for these types of students Fun, goal oriented, high achiever students.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus Undie Run On Campus Concert ( i.e LMAO)
What to do for fun Go Greek! Disneyland is just around the corner. If you're a baseball or hockey fan, Honda Center and Angels Stadium are minutes away. Beaches are nearby.
Food and Dining Gourmet food in the dining room. Walking distance to restaurants at Old Chapman community.
Dorm Life You have to experience it! You will develop long lasting relationship with your roommate and Greek sister and brother
Academic Rigor Students are high achievers and still maintain a social life.
Tips for prospective students You have to be academically disciplined, focused and able to handle multi task. The average student has a GPA above 3.2, involve in clubs and part of the Greek community.
In three sentences If you prefer a smaller and more personal environment, then Chapman is like a small community where faces will eventually become familiar. The classes are small enough that you will get to know your teachers and classmates and vise versa. Support system from advisors/teachers/tutors are always available. And if you are interested in becoming part of the Greek community, 65% of student population are either in a sorority or fraternity.

Categories Comments Campus Safety if you need anything, anything at all, call public safety. while not always punctual, they do keep us safe and happy.
Clubs and Activities there's something for everyone...really! music clubs, cooking clubs, social work clubs, even religious clubs. there's even a club that puts on rocky horror picture show every year, which i've heard is...interesting.
Great for these types of students arts (music, theater, dance, and especially film) students will love this place. it is also widely acclaimed for the business program.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus go to the beckman hall terrace, up on the third floor. it has a great view of the piazza.
Bang for the buck it's a little pricey, but the school gives out more money than the normal person can imagine for scholarships. it's well worth applying even if you think you won't be able to afford it. you'll be surprised.
What to do for fun go to concerts and plays! play in the fountains! go to disneyland!!! there really are boundless opportunities. events around campus are sent out every week in an email newsletter, so you have no excuse to be bored.
Food and Dining beware of cafeteria food! it's usually good...except on weekends and during interterm. there is a huge variety of food in the caf; every night there's something asian, italian, greek, and of course there are pizza and burgers and soup too. on-campus we have jazzman's cyber cafe, which has coffee easily comparable to starbuck's or peet's. we also have jamba juice, einstein bros. bagels, world of wings, and a little snack shop in the library for all those late-night studiers.
Dorm Life our resident advisers (ras) work so hard to keep the resident students busy! there is always something to do. however, the walls are very thin and people like to go screaming down the hallways at night. oh, and sometimes the henley lobby smells like moldy bread and yogurt, but that's incidental. the basement is awesome though. there are pool tables and a gym and music practice rooms right downstairs from your room. it's pretty neat, actually.
Academic Rigor the first year is just like high school, but with a more relaxed schedule. it does get harder and you will have to study, but the work is surprisingly rewarding. the professors are there to help you!
Tips for prospective students chapman is not intimidating in the least, except for maybe the arts programs, which are fantastic but rigorous. if you are an arts student, make sure you are well-prepared for your audition/interview and have double-checked your portfolio. also, interviews are not necessary but i highly recommend having one to get your foot in the door.
In three sentences if you want a beautiful campus, great small-town community feel just minutes away from some of the greatest los angeles area landmarks (including disneyland!), plus a strong academic community, this is the school for you. it has a fantastic variety of on-campus eateries, a four-story library, and a giant stone fountain in the middle of campus. plus, you can't beat this weather!

Categories Comments Campus Safety great!
Greek Life i don't know much about it, but its alive and well.
Clubs and Activities lots of sport & extramural activities on offer.
Great for these types of students grad school at dodge college is great for: social individuals wanting to make films and looking for diverse environment in which to do so.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus there is an annual charity underwear run. the filmschool has studios, foley stages, a theatre and many other luxuries.
Bang for the buck dodge college specifically: its an expensive school, but if you take it filmmaking seriously it is well worth it.
What to do for fun work on sets! go drinking at pauls. go to newport. movies at local cinemas (or the one in the filmschool). roller skating. cycling. sports. (there are great facilities) talks / debates - chapman is good at keeping you aware on what is happening at the school.
Food and Dining the meals served are good, but there is a lack of food options on campus. the center of town is a couple of blocks away, but the food prices there cater for tourists, not for students.
Dorm Life (haven't attended a dorm) but they look new and pretty good.
Academic Rigor good academic standards.
Tips for prospective students bring a bicycle along - the city has a small town feel. everyone cycles. if going to filmschool, you are going to work on a lot of sets on day and night shoots - be aware that sleep is going to become a rare and wonderful luxury.
In three sentences dodge school at chapman university is fun, intensive, professional environment for learning about the ins and outs of filmmaking. the teachers have industry experience and most are passionate and seem to care about the individual successes of their students. the courses on offer are a good balance between practical and academic.

Categories Comments What to do for fun disneyland is fifteen minutes away, the nearest beach, huntington beach is only twenty minutes away, and there are nearby hangout shopping centers and movie theaters all right around the corner. the circle which is a short walk from campus offers many cute restaurants and shopping as well as a cute cupcake place and a frozen yogurt place. there is even a country western dancing bar located 15 minutes away from campus and a lounge in the town circle for nights out.
Food and Dining the dining commons, also known as the caf is beyond sufficient in comparisson to many other college cafeterias. my favorite part about the caf is that it offers such a wide variety of dining options from italian, japanese, sushi, chinese, european, home style, burgers, salad bar, soup bar, and our beloved dessert section located in the center of the caf.
Dorm Life all in all, there is not a bad dorm to be in on campus. many will tell you that north morlan is the worst dorm, however each residence hall has its ups and its downs. north morlan allows for a great sense of community among its students and henley has a great basement to hang out in, while pralle is a prime location with parking underneath and being closest to campus, and has plenty of study space throughout the floors.
Academic Rigor varies by subject and by teacher. however, it is my philosophy that you get the grade you deserve. don't just take easy classes because you need the grade, challenge yourself, that is what college is for and that is how you truly can learn about things.
Tips for prospective students be sure to show how invested you are in a college education, nowadays it seems like college is jut the popular thing to do after getting out of high school, but if you show the application reviewers that you want to be there, they will know and most likely want you here as well.
In three sentences a great university with intense arts programs and professional degrees, a beautiful campus, and a fabulous social atmosphere. on top of everything that chapman has to offer, the location is ideal, right next to disneyland, the beach and many other fun and exciting pastimes.

Greek Life awesome and highly recommended!
Clubs and Activities greek life, tons of opportunities for acting and singing.
Great for these types of students business and law students, theater and television students.
Bang for the buck chapman is rated in the top 10 universities in the country. it is on the small side which is beneficial for student to teacher ratio. the teachers know the students and will approach them to help or nurture.
What to do for fun there is so much happening in and around chapman. disneyland is 5 minutes away. there are lacrosse games, basketball and football if you are a sports fan. greek life events, theater and musical events. there is always something to do at chapman.
Food and Dining chapman has diverse food choices in the cafeteria and a program that you can spend panther bucks to purchase food that is not in the cafeteria. the circle is within walking distance if you want to eat off campus.
Dorm Life incredible and fun. clean and enough room to be comfortable. love it!
Academic Rigor chapman had amazing advisers that guide you with your workload. if you have a semester that is tough, they will help you arrange your schedule so that it is manageable.
Tips for prospective students get involved with any one of the many diversified programs offered at chapman. the greek life is fun and have met so many new people.
In three sentences chapman is an amazing place to learn about life, people and lessons to take into the real world. i would rate chapman a+++ for its social diversity, academics, and arts. i would highly recommend this university to anyone.

Categories Comments Campus Safety i feel almost safer here than i do at home.
Greek Life personally, i decided not to be part of greek life for personal reasons. it is huge on the social scene here, though. basically, if you want to be a part of it, it is very present and available. if not, you can still have fun and meet people within the social scene. everyone is excited to be here and meet new people, especially at the start of freshman year.
Clubs and Activities there's something for everyone, and there is an entire council dedicated to forming and regulating clubs, sports, and organizations on campus.
Great for these types of students motivated, ambitious, out-going, friendly, fun-loving, intelligent, creative, artsy.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus undie run! the wednesday of finals week is when everyone puts on undies and runs around the circle (small downtown area) of orange. it looks crazy, and it is. :)
Bang for the buck it is an expensive school, but if you receive financial aid and scholarships, you are getting a great deal.
What to do for fun disneyland, beach, pool, hiking, shopping, soaking up the sun! :)
Food and Dining the options and quality of the food in the dining hall is unreal. i have never seen a better college dining hall.
Dorm Life it feels like a second home!
Tips for prospective students be prepared to work hard and learn a lot. if you feel homesick in the beginning, wait a full semester and let chapman grow on you. if you are a very friendly and outgoing person, chapman is a great place to make solid friends.
In three sentences chapman's campus is extremely amiable and a really pleasant place to live. chapman provides great school-to-career liaisons in all of its major programs. the small class sizes make for a very personal and engaging learning environment.

Categories Comments Campus Safety Public Safety is reading at just a moment's call, and communication poles are located around campus. They will not hesitate to drive back to your dorm late at night, or even to the parking structure.
Greek Life I had previously rushed for Beta Theta Pi, and although offered a bid, I still declined. Greek Life is a quite a bit of money for a social activity, but many people seem content with it. Although I will admit I can immediately list off the top of my head two people who have quit Greek Life.
Clubs and Activities I am part of a colonizing Fraternity and so far we have had no trouble in going through the process.
Great for these types of students Film, Business, creative, open-minded, international
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus It isn't uncommon to find students hanging out in the fountains, and the notorious Undie Run is an event I hope to someday partake in.
Bang for the buck For me, I'm only taking about $2000 out in loans to pay for tuition, while the rest is covered in financial aid and there is nothing more I could ask for. For a $60 student activities fee, so many events and clubs are available for students to participate in.
What to do for fun The nearby local Orange Circle contains many restaurants to satisfy any craving one could get. Disneyland and Knott's are popular options among students, some even purchase year passes.
Food and Dining With an on campus Jamba Juice, Einstein's Bagel's and a World of Wings, your typical adolescent food bases are covered- healthy smoothies, quick breakfasts, and spicy wings and fries!
Dorm Life The dorms are just about as costly as any other California school, but for freshman the school decides on which building you will be residing in, which means you don't get much of an initial choice in where you will be living for your freshman year.
Academic Rigor In my second semester, I have truly felt the difference between a high school workload and a college workload. Despite having different classes alternating days, the homework and reading can build up immediately if you fall behind even just a day.
Tips for prospective students Apply for the sake of applying! You won't just be surprised at an acceptance, but chances are the financial aid packages will blow your mind. If Chapman doesn't have the major you're looking for, it is possible for you to create your own major.
In three sentences Chapman University is diverse, active, and an overall fantastic campus. The faculty is well-rounded and very capable as masters of their subjects. Fantastic facilities are maintained to provide students with the tools they need to succeed.

Great for these types of students Inspired individuals ready to do big things with their life!
Bang for the buck It's a tad on the expensive side but completely worth it.
What to do for fun L.A. is 45 minutes away. Orange has a really cute town. There are plenty of clubs and bars in the area if you have transportation. Disneyland is 15 minutes away. There are parks in town, a pool at Chapman for students, a bonfire pit, a volleyball court, basketball court, etc.
Food and Dining Wonderful food that is constantly changing, there's always something new.
Dorm Life Dorms are beautiful, nicely layout, and situated perfectly near campus and near town.
Academic Rigor Classes are very competitive but some students wish not to compete as hard as others but for the most part it is a very competitive school, but in a very positive way.
Tips for prospective students Visit the campus, most fall in love at first sight.

Great for these types of students Anyone who wants to get to know their classmates well and keep in touch should go here. Most people stay in the Southern California area, so mini reunions are constantly happening.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus Undie run is a must. Wear a mask if you'd rather not hurt your chances of employment with that conservative company you're dying to work for, but definitely go. Go to the RA events - they are a lot more fun than you might expect.
Bang for the buck Worth every penny. I'm getting a great return on investment!
What to do for fun Orange is a small town and most places within walking distance close very early, but there are malls and movie theaters close by. The beach and fun cities like Costa Mesa are only about a 20 minute drive away, and downtown LA is only about 45 minutes away. There is plenty to do if you know where to look - just ask the RA's!
Food and Dining The food is decently tasty, but not always terribly healthy. I suspect this has changed since I graduated in May of 2010.
Dorm Life While there isn't any official Greek housing, the University is so small that you could make the argument that the while University is a coed Fraternity! Residence Life is fun, engaging and informative. Several of the buildings are older but that's all part of the college fun!
Academic Rigor Chapman provides excellent education and prepares you for whatever you choose to pursue. This is a great school for those who have chosen a major already or those who are undecided - you can't go wrong with and education from Chapman!
Tips for prospective students This is an expensive school, but with budget cuts and the comparative scholarships available at Chapman, it may actually be less money out of pocket to attend private school. Make the most of your time here and get involved!
In three sentences It's a small school, so expect personalized attention from professors and fellow students to the point of building lifelong relationships. The psychology department is top-notch. I love Chapman!

Categories Comments Campus Safety Public Safety is always around campus and the dorms. Many officers are friends with the students that they see often and they are kind, friendly, and helpful. Give P Safe a call if you need a lift from somewhere on campus back to the dorms late at night and they'll be there.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus There are many fountains on campus, and students are allowed to swim/wade in them!
Bang for the buck Chapman is really expensive! I'm struggling with tuition as my parents leave it up to me from my sophomore year on but I know it's worth it. I love it here, my professors, friends, and the opportunities the university offers.
What to do for fun Aside from the parties that go on after school hours, there is always Disneyland! Many students take trips to the beach or shopping and Chapman just built a pool near the dorms where many spend the afternoons.
Food and Dining After the first few weeks (the first semester especially), the dining room food gets a little old but when you're hungry you're hungry! There is a variety in every station, and also a vegan station. When a student needs a break they can use Panther Bucks at the student union food places like WOW and Jamba Juice or Doy's Pace under the freshman hall. Also downtown Orange provides many restaurants and eateries that many students go to together and split the bill!
Dorm Life Dorm life is great. However for freshman it is three to a room and it can get a little cramped especially the closet, but when you have great roommates everything works out! There are socials on the different dorm floors and students study together in lounges.
Academic Rigor Some struggle usually in GE classes which aren't in their major or subjects they have to take but are not good at. Even in their major the professors expect a lot from you. Though you don't feel the competitive pressure in the air around campus unlike other colleges, everyone here is ambitious, students help other students, and everyone just wants to get where they want to go so why try to take others down? All the classes are engaging, demanding too, but all possible.
Tips for prospective students Get involved in clubs, greek life, or other programs. It benefits you academically, build your resume, and making friends. Also registering for classes can be a struggle so make sure to have a schedule of the classes you want well before your specified registration time slot, and if waitlisted make sure to attend that specific class to claim an open spot if available. For those who do successfully register for a class and are planning on taking it, still make sure to attend the first class of the semester so the professor doesn't give your spot away to a waitlist student!
In three sentences Chapman has great professors who spend time with you during office hours to help you on course work or just give you academic/career advice. It's a beautiful campus and the location is close to many things, beach, Disneyland, etc. The small classes really grant interactions between student and professor and class discussions let everyone participate.

Categories Comments Campus Safety My roommate's bicycle got stolen last Fall but then she didn't have the uber safe lock that is recommended. I've always felt safe, even walking back to the dorm from Dodge late at night.
Greek Life Not into the sorority scene, and thus, am sometimes a little lonely while others are off pre-gaming. But nothing I can't handle.
Clubs and Activities There's more to do than you will ever have time for. I joined the Improv group, have a weekly one hour radio show, performed in the Rocky Horror Picture Show Shadow Production, volunteer on every crew and production I can.
Great for these types of students Film & Television Production nerds, Digital Arts students, Theater geeks, Music majors, law and business majors
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus Undie Run during Finals week each semester is a great way to blow off steam, have fun and meet people. Sounds perverted but it's really harmless and loads of fun, even for a non-drinker like me.
Bang for the buck As mentioned, Interterm in January is essentially free, as in no additional cost to live and eat on campus and take up to 3 additional credit credits. Also, Chapman will waive tuition on a study-abroad program once during your time there. I just got back from a month in Perugia, Italy, didn't have to pay the $1960 tuition, and Dodge College also subsidized a $1700 portion of the travel expenses!
What to do for fun Go to Los Angeles for music, culture, museums, to visit home. Go see movies and hear lectures by entertainment and film industry professionals at the Folino Theater. Always something doing, but not always enough time to take advantage of it with my course load.
Food and Dining Food starts out seeming great but before long, it's the same old thing in an endless cycle. Not bad but tedious. My least favorite part about living on campus.
Dorm Life Freshman year was kind of a drag with three girls in a room meant for 2, plus sharing the bathroom with another 3 girls. Really close quarters. But doable, and we all survived. Sophomore year was MUCH better in Sandhu Film Living/Learning Community. Deluxe accomodations. Beyond Sophomore year, most students have to shove off and find off-campus housing. Cheaper but less convenient.
Academic Rigor I'm in the campus-wide honors program which can be rigorous but is also fun. I'm a studious type by nature so I like being challenged but I have never been so stressed by any individual course that I couldn't handle it. Most profs have tutoring sessions set up to make sure everyone stays caught up and on task BEFORE they fall behind. This pro-active approach works great. There's always help if you need it.
Tips for prospective students take all the AP courses you can in high school; aim for high SAT/ACT scores. I got a 4 year Presidential Scholarship and entered as a sophomore with 32 credits from courses waived by test scores and AP credits. Chapman is not a cheap school and the fees go up 4-6% every year.
In three sentences Chapman's Dodge College, its training and equipment rivals USC, UCLA and just about any other film school. The small class size is a major plus, as I want my professors to know me by name. Being able to take a course for free during Interterm in January is also great.

Categories Comments Campus Safety Really really safe, the only think that ever happens.
Greek Life Greek Life at Chapman is such a huge part of the campus, I never thought I would join, but I did and I am so glad I did. The majority of campus is Greek, and it is a great way to get involved, meet people, and participate in philanthropic work.
Clubs and Activities Lots of clubs on campus you can get involved at, but as far as activities go we don't have good attendance unless it's a concert.
Great for these types of students Students who like great weather, an amazing location, small class sizes, and being able to change majors easy.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus Undie Run Wednesday of finals week.
Bang for the buck You can't get the small class sizes if you are going to a public school, I really really like that, but Chapman is still expensive, luckily they give out a lot of scholarships and aid to a lot of people
What to do for fun Disneyland, shopping, beach, go walk in downtown orange, there are also house parties, and clubs that are not too far away.
Food and Dining I am vegetarian so I have gotten pretty tired of the options, but I also have used the cafe for 2 years. If you are a meat eater you will probably find a lot more options (although I know Chapman is taking more suggestions to cater to different diets).
Dorm Life If you want to go for nice housing the best for freshmen are Henley and Pralle, but if you want less nice and more social atmosphere (where you can leave doors open) Morlan is better! Dorm Life is what you make of it, if you don't go out and meet people then you won't know anyone, just make an effort.
Academic Rigor Academic difficulty really depends on the teacher and how well you do at the subject. Overall I think if you take classes that challenge you, you will be challenged, and if you want to take lots of easy classes, there are many of those offered as well. But I absolutely love the majority of my professors and the small class sizes is such a plus.
Tips for prospective students Get as many GE classes out of the way as possible, and look up professors at ratemyprofessor.com to see how difficult they are. Also even if you don't get in a class right away add your name to the wait list and show up the 1st day, there is a high likelihood you will get in.
In three sentences I love the small campus, class sizes and location. I wish the food were better and there were more housing options. Overall I love Chapman and would recommend it.

Categories Comments Campus Safety I have never had an issue with feeling unsafe at Chapman. It is in a great area and Pubic Safety is always available and very nice.
Clubs and Activities There are almost literally a million clubs at Chapman and each one offers another great tight knit community. The clubs were the highlight of my freshman year and provided me with the closest friends I have ever had and I know I will have for the rest of my life.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus The fountains are a Chapman tradition. Everyone had to go fountain hopping at least once at Chapman. It may sound strange, but trust me it is so much fun in the hot sun of SoCal.
Bang for the buck It is worth every penny to go to Chapman. The attention that you get from professors and the quality of education is invaluable. Not to mention the community is one of the strongest I have ever seen. Everyone supports everyone else here and challenges you to be better than you are.
What to do for fun One word, Disneyland. Almost everyone has passes at Chapman and go often. Other than that the beach is another popular option. But there is never an end to the things going on at campus. Chapman has a never ending parade of amazing events that you can take advantage of. Zumba classes, outings to museums, concerts and more. I promise you will never be bored.
Food and Dining There are many options both on and off campus. The Caff is great and offers a variety of food, including a program to request the recipes you want from home. The food on campus is also very good with a lot of options. I would recommend Subversions, which has the best sandwiches ever, or Doti's Dogs an awesome hotdog stand in honor of out president. Old Town Orange is a couple of blocks away and has a plethora of amazing food options however, beware as they are almost all very expensive. Overall the food prices run high but are often worth it.
Dorm Life It is really important to dorm at Chapman as you only get two years to do so. It is where you will make your closest friends. However, some of the dorms are nicer than others. Some of the dorms are out of date and have problems with things like water or temperatures. The newer dorms are nice, however they are very crowded and are often three to a room. It is not for everyone.
Academic Rigor You will always be challenged and that is what college is about. Professors are the top in their field and will force you to look at the subject in a way you never would have prior. Be prepared, it is hard but indisputably worth it.
Tips for prospective students I could not promote this school any more highly. It has changed my life and I know it will yours as well. Take advantage of Chapman's many opportunities and you will leave a completely different person who is prepared for anything, intellectual to a fault, and truly passionate about the world and life.
In three sentences This is the place for anyone to discover who they are, who they want to be and the limitless possibilities open to them. Chapman inspires it's students to become more than they could have expected. Because of the small classes and amazing professors the aura of discovery and passion is contagious.

Tips for prospective students Check out the school yourself, it's beautiful but have tons of questions for the film student that's giving you a tour.
In three sentences Judging from my visit, seeing their equipment, studio capabilities, and future plans this is a great school for cinematography. There are plans for a backlot, something most studios don't have. I'm going for screenwriting but most students I know that leave Chapman are the most optimistic and hard working I've worked with on set.

Categories Comments Campus Safety I feel comfortable walking from the library to the dorms late at night. There is always the option of asking Public Safety to escort you back if you don't feel safe. The campus also has the emergency poles scattered throughout.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus Finals Week Activities! Monday night is Midnight Breakfast, which has free food and performances by dance groups at Chapman. Wednesday night is Undie Run, which is a good destressor and study break during finals week.
What to do for fun Disneyland! It's 15-20 minutes by car or about 1 hour by bus. Almost everyone I know at Chapman is a Disney Annual Passholder.
Food and Dining There is a good variety of food on campus. Students who have a meal plan can use meals to get into the cafeteria where it is all-you-can-eat or they can use PantherBucks to pay for food at Jamba Juice, World of Wings, Einstein's Bagels, or the other food places on campus.
Dorm Life Dorms at Chapman range from fancy to out-dated. As a freshman I really enjoyed living in Glass Hall. I became good friends with some of the people that lived on my floor.
Academic Rigor The subject matter is very appropriate and concise. Teachers challenge you, while presenting you with material that is interesting.
Tips for prospective students Join clubs and be as friendly as possible. This is where I made most of my friends.
In three sentences Chapman has a really beautiful, modern campus. The teachers are really welcoming and helpful. The small student population gives off a comfy and friendly vibe.

Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus It is amazing. Everything is really close. The people are friendly and it is a lot of fun.
Bang for the buck Since a Bachelors degree is not worth that much, unless you have a really good financial aid package. I don't think Chapman is worth the expensive tuition. Unless your family can afford it.
What to do for fun I would recommend going greek. The beach, movies, and school events are fun. The more involved you get, the more fun you will have.
Food and Dining amazing, can get old fast.
Dorm Life Pretty well. They need more buildings which they have are working on doing.
Academic Rigor Depends on your major.
Tips for prospective students Come out for a visit, read a lot of reviews. If you are into the small school atmosphere then it is amazing.
In three sentences Chapman is a great school, the staff and professors really enjoy and care for the students. The school is sort of expensive but it does come with a lot of perks that other schools don't offer.

Categories Comments Campus Safety Chapman is a relatively safe school because of its location in a small town. There have been only a couple of incidents that have caused concern in the past few years.
Greek Life Greek Life is huge on campus with a large percentage of students involved. They are well-known and put on many of the events that are known throughout the university.
Clubs and Activities There are a great number of clubs and activities for students to get involved in with something available for everyone.
Great for these types of students Those interested in Greek Life or those looking to get involved on campus will love how active the student clubs and organizations are. Almost every type of student can be found here, from the film kids to those specializing in science.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus At the end of every semester on the Wednesday of finals week is when Undie Run takes place.
Bang for the buck While Chapman is pretty pricey, the school provides students with a wonderful education and a worthwhile college experience.
What to do for fun Because Chapman is located in Southern California, there are a number of things to do for fun. Disneyland is a very popular destination for students while many also drive up to LA/Hollywood. Within walking distance is an area commonly known as the Circle where many students go to eat and hang out.
Food and Dining The dining hall is among the best, with a number of different options varying from Mexican to Asian to Mediterranean food. It is spacious and a great place to socialize. The only downside is it can become a little repetitive at times.
Dorm Life Many of the dorms are new and in good shape. All of them are quite spacious and have bathrooms attached to the rooms. A wonderful and necessary experience for first years.
Academic Rigor Most programs provide a rigorous, but rewarding environment, although there will be some classes that are a breeze.
Tips for prospective students Research the school and its programs to make sure that it has the right programs for you and the atmosphere you want in a university. Definitely take a tour!
In three sentences Chapman is a very personable school with a great student body and wonderful academic programs. The school offers many opportunities for students to become involved and succeed. It is a wonderful private school that offers a great college experience and invaluable learning.

Categories Comments Campus Safety Don't hesitate to call PSafe if you need a ride, though their hours are kind of annoying.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus If you get a chance to participate in Undie Run and don't have any (early) finals, definitely go for it.
Food and Dining It's a bit easier to find good, nutritious food if you have a car (or are willing to bike a couple miles). Check out Tokyo Cafe on Glassell and Lollicup. Also, Rutas has plenty of veggie options.
Dorm Life I'm an off-campus student, so I can't say I have much of an opinion.
Academic Rigor The classes are difficult (at least the science courses), but it's possible to get excellent scores if you make an effort and put in the time with office hours, SI, private tutoring, and study sessions. If you have a study sesh with friends, don't have more than 3 people, none of which are your best friends. You'll get very little done, confuse each other, and goof off; trust me, I know.
Tips for prospective students Take advantage of the Tutoring, Learning, and Testing Center's free tutoring and Supplemental Instruction (group study sessions). Also, either get involved with Greek life or clubs. If you're a commuter, study at school, eat at school, and stay here as long as possible so that you make sure you feel like you're a part of the community.
In three sentences I love the opportunities Chapman has for succeeding in courses and getting jobs during school and after graduation. It's easy to get involved if you put yourself out there. It's a little expensive, but Financial Aid is always willing to work with us and make sure we have what we need.

Categories Comments Campus Safety Everyone feels safe and takes care of each other. If you need a ride, you can call for a ride and they will take you within a mile of school...no questions asked!
Greek Life Even if you don't join a frat, you can still go to the parties and events if you know someone.
Clubs and Activities I am on the soccer team so that keeps me pretty busy.
Great for these types of students All types, there is something for everyone here. Great Law School and Film school. I am a business major and the Economic Forecast in Orange County is the top!
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus The Undie Run before finals is a tradition you don't want to miss. Just know that there are photographers around and you will get your picture in the local paper!
Bang for the buck Do well in high school so you get a discount on your tuition. Your parents will appreciate your efforts and maybe you can negotiate a car with the money you save them!
What to do for fun Go to sporting events. Go to concerts.
Food and Dining Amazing food!
Dorm Life Set rules with your roommates. Be respectful of others and keep the communication going.
Academic Rigor Be prepared for some tough classes. Don't be afraid to get to know your professor and ask for help quickly if you are struggling.
Tips for prospective students Be prepared to join in on activities, clubs, sports to make the most of your experience.
In three sentences I love the smaller atmosphere of Chapman University. The old town of Orange has restaurants, coffee shops and events that are close to the school. There is a sense of community and Chapman University is very well respected.

Categories Comments Campus Safety I actually work at our DPS as a student assistant. The officers there are devoted to staying very visible on campus and keeping all students safe. There are special programs, like Saferide, that make sure students are able to get to their car safely after dark and many additional levels that make me, as a student, feel safe.
Greek Life Dominates. Though only about 30% of the population participates, it feels like 70 or 80%. We have no greek row.
Clubs and Activities We have a very large amount of clubs, the one I am involved in, ACS is catered to the science majors and is where I met some of my best friends.
Great for these types of students Great for the film industry. Last I checked we were #3 in the world. We also have a wonderful business school and an up and coming physical therapy school
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus It is considered common practice to go swimming in the fountains around campus.
Bang for the buck Tuition is EXPENSIVE. The experience is good, but maybe not THAT good. They only make up for it by giving a lot of aid.
What to do for fun Mostly hang out with friends. There are constantly things going on, like lectures, free movies, or other activities, so I go to a lot of those. People who aren't involved in a club or something are bored often.
Food and Dining The cafeteria has all kinds of food that tastes like home. The selection is terrible during breaks and your options outside the caf are limited.
Dorm Life The dorms are BEAUTIFUL and huge.
Academic Rigor Depends on your major. I am a Chemistry major, so my classes are difficult. Other majors like drama are less demanding, so these students are usually partiers.
Tips for prospective students Chapman searches for those who are well-rounded. And don't be turned off by the tuition price. They give a lot of financial aid~
In three sentences Chapman is full of opportunities, whether for research, going abroad, or find jobs (careers and otherwise). The people are separated into real students and film and drama majors, but are genuinely happy and kind. Orange can get boring without a car, but there are constantly activities on campus.

Categories Comments Campus Safety Campus Safety all depends on Public Safety. You see them from time to time patrolling around campus and will definitely help you out if you need anything. They are beyond friendly and helpful and they make you feel safe.
Greek Life Greek Life is definitely big at Chapman. Almost 90% of the population is involved either in Greek or even involved in club organizations.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus There are rarely any unusual locations or traditions, but probably the amount of statue heads on campus and amount of panther statues each with their own names.
What to do for fun What people do for fun is definitely visit each other's dorm room, go to the Henley basement to play pool, play on the basketball courts or just walk around campus and enjoy the weather.
Food and Dining Food and Dining are not that bad. You get all different type of choices from western to Chinese and even sushi! The environment is clean, everything is structured in an organized manner and things are well spread out to not feel the crowd.
Dorm Life Dorm rooms may be small, but it is definitely cozy enough for you to find your own space. Everyone gets their own little room once they settle in. Room Advisers are super chill, and they may be your new friend too!
Academic Rigor Classes are definitely not rock hard with papers and quizzes chucked at you, but they are definitely not easy where you can just sleep through them and not do homework. Once again, professors don't care if you attend or not, this isn't high school, it's all up to you.
Tips for prospective students You will absolutely love this campus. You will always encounter the friendliest people who would say a simple hello and still make your day.
In three sentences This campus is absolutely beautiful and peaceful. You can definitely find your own spot on campus to either study, have fun or be alone.

Categories Comments Campus Safety This is place is incredibly safe. Public Safety is everywhere, protecting students. Also it's a small town so everyone here is very cautious and clean, and there aren't any major hazards and dangers.
Greek Life As a member of the Greek life here on campus, I have to say I'm pretty impressed. I came in as a skeptic and now I've never been more happy! There is a strict no hazing policy, and all of Greek life gets along really well without the catty competition. There is also no housing for Greek life, which makes the Greek life here very unique.
Clubs and Activities There are a lot of clubs here for such a small school. There's pretty much something for everyone.
Great for these types of students Likes a small campus, but still big enough to meet new people every day, and students who really like to get involved.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus There is an interfaith church on campus where students can practice any religion that interests them.
Bang for the buck It's an expensive school but totally worth it. You get what you pay for, that's for sure. It's beautiful, and almost feels as if students here are quite pampered.
What to do for fun I am absolutely amazed by how much there is to do here! There is something going on every single weekend, Panther nights every friday, vendor parties every month, and pool parties on the weekends at the residents pool.
Food and Dining The food here is amazing. There are several different choices for every meal, and it's different every day. They have veagan, Asian, Italian, Mexican every day but different dishes each day. There are also desserts and a frozen yogurt machine. There are many places on campus to get food like Jamba Juice, and a bagel place, and several other options!
Dorm Life These are the best dorms I've ever seen at a college. We have private bathrooms, well kept buildings, spacious rooms depending on how many you are sharing with, beautiful scenery outside, and private air conditioning and heating.
Academic Rigor Academics here are fairly rigorous based on how many classes you're taking, and how involved you are in other activities. The teachers are wonderful and helpful which makes the work flow a lot easier. It is more difficult than high school, but you are definitely learning a lot here.
Tips for prospective students Be open to meeting new people and don't be intimidated by how outgoing a lot of the students here are. They all just want to get to know everyone, and are very welcoming to freshmen.
In three sentences Chapman University is a dream school for anyone who likes a small, beautiful campus with a LOT to do! Student involvement is huge here, and everyone is super friendly and welcoming. The teachers and classroom setting is what makes Chapman unique as well, because they are all very personable and one on one with students.

Categories Comments Campus Safety Campus Safety is always out keeping us safe. If you have concerns regarding safety, call them, and they will respond quickly.
Greek Life Chapman Greek Life has a large presence on campus. I don't belong to the Greek system myself, but I have gone to some of the Greek events and they are a blast. Chapman Greek Life is a brotherhood (or sisterhood), lifting each other to excellence. It's nothing life Animal House.
Clubs and Activities There are many clubs on campus, and activities taking place all the time. Everything from bands, to Panther Nights (Friday night events with a theme), to trips to local hot spots, and volunteering events. I am sure that you'll find something that interests you, and if not, start it up.
Great for these types of students Chapman University is great for all walks of life. I am a returning student and enjoy my life at Chapman. There is something for everyone.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus There is a lot of history on campus. We have a large piece of the Berlin Wall, fountains everywhere, and the library is filled with all sorts of historical artifacts. One of the buildings is even reportedly haunted, but I haven't ran into any ghosts yet.
Bang for the buck Chapman is a private school, and does indeed cost more than a public school, but in my opinion, you get a better education. I would rather spend a little more to be in a classroom with an average of 23 students, rather than a forum with 300.
What to do for fun Chapman University is settled in Old Town Orange, with all sorts of great restaurants and bars within walking distance. Disneyland, beaches, churches, and theaters are all fairly close. If you're a sports fan, both Anaheim Stadium (Angels Baseball) and the Pond (The Ducks) are right down the street.
Food and Dining Chapman offers great meal plans, with 9 locations to get your grub on around campus. Even commuters such as myself can order a meal plan. My favorite spot is eating at the cafeteria. The caf offers plenty of options, all you can eat, and even tailors to all styles of eaters, from vegetarians, vegans, or carnivores such as myself.
Dorm Life Although I don't live in a dorm, I have friends that do, and they love it. Being close to Old Town Orange is a plus as well, with all the history surrounding the campus.
Academic Rigor When you reach upper divisional classes, things move at a good pace, but provides the tools needed to succeed. It's not easy, but when is true learning really easy?
Tips for prospective students This is a very communal campus. When you attend Chapman, you feel like you belong. Be sure to pace yourself, study hard, and get involved with something on campus. There are many clubs, Greek Life, and Student Government, all offering volunteering opportunities.
In three sentences This is a great institution providing a great education. Will smaller class sizes, there is a greater interaction between student and instructor, which provides me with a greater sense of learning. The faculty are highly trained, with either double Master Degrees, or a Doctorate.

Categories Comments Campus Safety I feel safe at all times on campus. Also it is nice to know that you can call public safety at any time to give you a ride say back to your dorm late at night from class.
Greek Life Although Chapman does not have their own Greek houses, Greek life is a very prominent part of the social life on campus.
Great for these types of students Outgoing; hard-working
Bang for the buck Chapman is VERY EXPENSIVE. However, overall I would say that you really are getting opportunities and the experiences that you would not encounter elsewhere.
What to do for fun There's a lot to do for fun both on campus and nearby off campus. Movie screenings, events with free food, tanning by the pool, free fitness classes and much more. Just keep up to date with events and when they are taking place. As for off campus, there is lots of fun dining places in the orange circle. Chapman is near so many other fun places, like Disneyland, Honda Center, Angel Stadium, and the beach.
Food and Dining Pretty good, except the hours are not always the most convenient, for example for the dining commons.
Dorm Life Very fun; safe environment. I just wish that there was more housing for upperclassmen; it would be nice to have the option of guaranteed housing for the future.
Academic Rigor Challenging, but not impossibly difficult. I feel that it is preparing me adequately preparing me for
Tips for prospective students Go in to college with an open mind; you might find yourself participating in things you never expected to and that's fine. Really try to branch out and put yourself out there by making lots of new friends and getting involved. Have fun but don't forget about your grades-they do kind of really affect your future so you don't want to blow it.
In three sentences Chapman really strives to give their students the ultimate college experience. Excellent academics and lots of opportunities to have fun outside of class. Small campus and class sizes allow you to form better relationships with classmates and faculty.

Categories Comments What to do for fun The beach is a half hour drive away. LA is a forty minute drive. Disneyland is a fifteen minute drive. Chapman has fun activities or excursions offered every weekend too.
Food and Dining Food is okay. It is cafeteria food so don't set expectations too high.
Dorm Life Dorm rooms are larger than the other schools I looked at and campus is small so they aren't too far from anything.
Academic Rigor Classes are challenging, but if you stay on top of your work and use time wisely they aren't too bad.
Tips for prospective students Get to know your professors because they are willing to help if you are having trouble. Also, ask students who have been on campus for awhile about the ins and outs of getting into classes and buying books.
In three sentences Chapman offers so many unique and fun opportunities for students. Campus in in a prime location and students are active in the local community. Each individual person is noticed and contributions in class matter.

Categories Comments Campus Safety Public Safety is great. They'll walk you home if you don't feel safe, at any hour. They offer rides to students who cannot drive home after partying. They're very friendly and wander the campus.
Greek Life I am not personally a member of Greek Life, but it is VERY popular at Chapman. It definitely helps you gain a huge community of friends and become more involved on campus.
Clubs and Activities So much. Snow Club, University Program Board, Theater Club, Ultimate Frisbee Club, Art Club, Student Government Association...etc.
Great for these types of students Great for social students. Great for ambitious students. Lots of opportunities available, so you have to be willing to take the opportunities.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus Fountain hopping is a tradition. We are allowed to swim in our fountains, and on hot days when the pool is crowded, some students opt for fountain hopping instead.
Bang for the buck It's VERY expensive, but I really do feel like I'm getting a quality education. I have loved the majority of my professors and think they will be helpful when I need to start job-searching.
What to do for fun Some of my favorite things include: going to the beach, walking around the Old Towne Orange circle, going to Disneyland, watching movies, and going into Los Angeles to explore.
Food and Dining We're very fortunate with our food. Though it does get old after a while, the quality of the food cannot be denied.
Dorm Life Again, it really depends on where you live. Some floors are very social and the residents become very family-like, while other halls tend to keep more to themselves.
Academic Rigor It really depends on your major. A science major, for example, is much more rigorous than Communications.
Tips for prospective students Get ready to meet new people. Take advantage of opportunities.
In three sentences Chapman is small and intimate which is helpful because it allows you to get to know your peers and professors. The campus and its location are beautiful, clean and accessible. Though the school is lacking in school spirit, there is definitely a community of students.

Categories Comments Campus Safety Extremely safe! Public Safety is everywhere...they even show up at parties -___- They give safe rides back to the dorm if necessary. Orange is a good place to live.
Greek Life It is not the typical Greek Life, much more accepting and non-stereotypical. Many people who have said I will never join a sority/fraternity end up joining the second semester. Half of the school is Greek, 'nough said.
Clubs and Activities Huge selection...I play a sport here, so I don't have much time to join clubs...but there are a ton
Great for these types of students Active Friendly Community-Oriented Artsy
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus two words: UNDIE RUN look it up on youtube...it is epic almost the entire campus participates nearly half the campus has Disneyland passes because it is only 5 minutes away watching Disneyland fireworks from the top of the parking structure!!!
Bang for the buck Chapman is EXTREMELY generous with scholarships. Most of the people here are either already extremely rich, or getting at least a half ride scholarship/finanical aid. We pay less than state schools and get SO much more!!!
What to do for fun Ping pong, really nice dorm pool!, beach volleyball, party, chapman coffee house, rock climbing
Food and Dining I really enjoy the caf. Huge selection. After a while it gets kind of tiresome, but that is when you get creative. Start creating your own dishes with what they have. My dad likes the caf so much whenever he comes to visit he insists upon eating there.
Dorm Life I loved dorm life! The people in my dorm were so nice and I made some of my best friends living there. They also have the basement where you can play pool, PING PONG!, have midnight snacks...
Academic Rigor Depending on your major, Chapman can be very challenging or a complete cruise. I personally struggled with AP classes in high school. I took 6 and only passed 4 of the tests. Chapman is much easier than my High School AP classes, at least the classes I've taken here at Chapman so far. Including: Various Psychology courses, Education classes, Stats, Writing on Pop Culture, Philosophy, Spanish, etc... The only classes that are way harder than my high school experience are any sorts of art classes, they are extremely demanding, and grade very hard.
Tips for prospective students If you are taking AP classes, try very hard to pass the test with a four or better. You will gain yourself an opportunity to graduate a semester, or even a year early (saving thousands of dollars in tuition) depending on how many APs you take and whether or not you participate in Interterm (the winter session).
In three sentences Although Chapman was not my first choice by any means, I have turned out to really enjoy it. The people are great: students are friendly, professors are extremely helpful, and the overall atmosphere is just pleasant.

Categories Comments Campus Safety Public Safety is constantly driving around the school and keeping and eye out for anything that a student could potentially need protection from. Its a very safe environment.
Greek Life I am currently a Gamma Phi Beta and it is truly amazing. It is like having another family away from your home. All the different houses and chapters, whether it is a fraternity or sorority come together as one Greek family, there is no competitions or rivalry!
Clubs and Activities Chapman is very encouraging when it comes to campus involvement as well as clubs! There are so many to choose from, there is no doubt you will find something that interests you.
Great for these types of students If you are doing anything in the Liberal Arts for the future, Chapman is very known for being strong in the liberal arts whether it is vocal, dance, or film.
What to do for fun Disneyland is just ten minutes away! Newport Beach and all of its great activites are 15 minutes! Downtown Orange is just down the street too.
Food and Dining Most of the known food places are much easier to get to with a car. That is the only downside of the location. Other than that, just two miles away you can get to almost any store you may need!
Dorm Life All the dorms are right net to each other with the Dining Commons, pool, basketball courts/volleyball courts in the center of it all. Its like a separate Chapman Student community just off-campus.
Academic Rigor Teacher's are very caring toward their students. They strive to build and develop good teacher-student relationships. Almost all professors have extra office hours for help, constantly check their emails and will get back in a short period of time, and teach to the best of their abilities.
Tips for prospective students If you are a film major of hoping to do something in the media arts, Chapman has a very well-respected film and media arts school: Dodge College of Film and Media Arts... Look into it!
In three sentences Chapman University has truly become a place I can call home for myself. With professors who actually care and supportive and inspiring people around, I know that I am going to gain so many good relationships with new friends as well as a whole lot of knowledge and experience I will share with the world. I am Chapman University and Chapman University is me.

Categories Comments Campus Safety I never feel unsafe at the school.
Greek Life I have not joined greek life so no comment.
Clubs and Activities many clubs that have both social and educational functions, some sound very fun like a camping, gaming, and anime club.
Great for these types of students Great for students who want a university type environment at a local small setting.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus I have heard that the students have a under wear run but I can't be for certain. Nothing else very unusual other then the old looking neighborhood in Orange County.
Bang for the buck I feel that I get what I pay for at Chapman.
What to do for fun There are various amount of clubs and even a comic book section at the library. There is also a gym, and a union hall with many T.Vs and even a xbox 360. The school has many activities to do.
Food and Dining The food at Chapman is very delicious with various choices and options for many types of appetites, my only dislike about the food is the price. Some of the selection of food can be a bit pricey.
Dorm Life I can't speak for Chapman's dorms because I don't dorm but from what I have seen they look very nice.
Academic Rigor A lot of the staff at Chapman really pursues the goal of making you think about the subject even after class. Much of the grades come from essays and oral presentations which is a great change from written tests.
Tips for prospective students A tip would be to join a club if you are looking for a big social experience at Chapman. Another tip would be to take advantage of all the opportunities that Chapman offers. A final tip would be to make lasting relationships with the staff and peers because the Chapman community is extremely helpful.
In three sentences The departments for each major is truly a amazing part of Chapman because they specialize in each major to better understand your goals. The school is a safe and casual environment that allows you to enjoy going to a prestiges university at a local neighborhood like level. I would rank Chapman's staff highly because they focus on getting a student to understand and critically think about the topics.
