Categories Comments Great for these types of students Anyone who likes a quiet, less populated area should be right at home in Clarion. Those who enjoy walking will love the campus.
Tips for prospective students Expect a good bit of rain and snow. Don't be afraid to get out and look for different activities. Many exist, but they won't always just appear out of thin air for you; you need to look for them.
Am enjoying being here Clarion has many different clubs and intramural programs, so everyone can find something to do that they enjoy.
Am learning a lot All of my professors have been more than willing to explain what they are teaching multiple times until everyone in the class is on the same page.

Categories Comments Great for these types of students -Considering that the campus is pretty small and most people leave for the weekend or already know a lot of people, it is a better campus for students who are outgoing and aren't afraid to meet new people and are ore outgoing. -People who really want to get involved. Joining clubs or programs is so easy at Clarion. -Anyone who isn't bothered by the snow/rain/hills. -Loving the outdoors really comes in handy at Clarion. Clarion County is beautiful and it's great to go out to the Clarion River or Cook Forest with friends and unwind.
Tips for prospective students -Having a car on campus is a lot easier than taking the bus! -Get flex points with your meal plans. They really come in handy and the food at the Gemmell Student Complex [where you can use flex points to pay] is a lot better than it is as Eagle Commons. -Get snow boots early, because it can snow as early as October. -Rent your books instead of buying them from the bookstore. Most of your textbooks you won't want to keep and you don't even get half of their original price when you try and sell them back.
Bang for the buck Compared to colleges in my home state, Clarion is reasonably priced. They offered me a scholarship right off the bat and considering all of the resources available on campus and the quality of education provided, Clarion is well worth the cost.
Am enjoying being here I am from out-of-state, but I like being away from home and enjoying a whole new experience. I was homesick at first but the more involved I become the easier it became to be away from home. It's a little hard to meet people at first but it becomes a lot easier as the semester goes on. All of the clubs and programs at Clarion are great and there really is something available for everyone.
Am learning a lot I love all of my classes. So far none of my classes have been too challenging, but you can still learn a lot. The small class sizes make it really easy to interact with other students and the professors. The teachers are also really accommodating and typically encourage discussions and questions.

Categories Comments Great for these types of students I think Clarion is great for almost anyone. I like being in the college-town atmosphere.
Tips for prospective students Make sure you check all of your possible options first then if you feel comfortable then make the best of what you have.
Bang for the buck This was one of the main reasons I came here. Clarion is an excellent value.
Am enjoying being here I love being at college but I know that it can always be better.
Am learning a lot I've learned something new everyday.

Categories Comments Great for these types of students Clarion is great for students that enjoy small towns or want to get away from the hustle and bustle of a city. Also, anyone pursuing an education or speech pathology major may want to check out Clarion's programs. Clarion is also great for students with a smaller budget or looking to get a good education without setting themselves too far back financially.
Tips for prospective students The best tips I could give for perspective students are: -Be prepared to walk a lot. Clarion is built on a hill and most of your day will be spent climbing it. -Make sure your willing to be creative and able to find alternative things to do. Although there is a decent cinema and a couple other places nearby, if you don't have a car there isn't much to do(especially in the winter.) -Clarion gets COLD in the winter so come back from Thanksgiving break with winter coats, boots, gloves, hats, scarves, and anything else to keep warm.
Bang for the buck Because Clarion is a University of Pennsylvania, it is among the most affordable colleges in Pennsylvania. Clarion is also a very good school for education majors. Its programs are thorough and will give you the education you need in order to succeed in your career. If you have a lower budget or cannot afford to spend a lot on college, Clarion is a good choice.
Am enjoying being here Despite its small size, I enjoy attending college in Clarion. There isn't much to do in the town, but the UAB provides different performances for the students. In addition, the dorms organize different activities and projects for residents to take part in. Being in a small town also helps you focus on grades and join the many campus clubs and activities. Although there isn't much to do in Clarion, my friends and I have found ways to pass the time with sled riding, snowball fights, and going to the recreation center. ALF is also a big event for Clarion students.
Am learning a lot I believe that I have learned a lot in my first semester at Clarion. The class sizes are small enough that you can ask questions and have personalized learning but also large enough to keep you from feeling singled out during discussions and activities. Classes teach you useful information that you can put toward your major and the teachers and faculty are friendly and respectful. Many professors are willing to spend extra time during office hours to meet with you and provide extra assistance. As long as you are willing to put forth effort, most professors will do their best to help you succeed.

Categories Comments Tips for prospective students In my experience, my parents really pushed for Clarion. I love it here but it wasn't my first choice. Make sure you take the time to decide what you really need in a college experience. The teacher to student ratio is small and the campus isn't so big it's overwhelming as well as not so little that you still have that hike in the morning. Do what's best for you whether it's Clarion or another school. Where ever you go try and avoid the 8am classes..they're rough on Monday mornings!
Bang for the buck It is a little pricey, but if you take the time to look for scholarships and get help through that it will work out great.
Am enjoying being here I am one to get home sick very fast. For the hour and forty five minutes, it's still close that I could go home every weekend if I wanted to. My roommates are the best and we always find something fun to do. It's not a big town but if you take the time to look, you'll find something that sparks your interest.
Am learning a lot Each day I attend classes there is something new to learn. For some of the classes I took in high school, the courses here have been a great review. I'm very excited to learn more and get the fullest out of the education the university is providing me.

Categories Comments Great for these types of students Teachers or speech pathologists.
Tips for prospective students Be open-minded. Do not listen to what you're friends say. Visit and see for yourself if you like it.
Bang for the buck I think it's way too expensive but comparing to a lot of friends I know at different schools it's really not toooo bad.
Am enjoying being here It's a nice environment, not too big, not too small.
Am learning a lot In my first year I really haven't learned too much. It's been a lot of review type stuff.

Categories Comments Campus Safety Being the small town that it is, Clarion University's campus police works with the borough police to keep the area safe. There is a monthly fire drill to keep students alert. Also, there are crosswalks and sidewalks to lead students to wherever they need to be at any given time.
Greek Life Personally, I am not involved in Greek life, but I am often invited to activities held by them, such as sports, dinners, and other various interesting activities. Recently, guys in a fraternity were auctioned off to students to do chores, homework, etc.
Clubs and Activities There are many clubs that hold activities that are open to all students at Clarion. If you join the clubs, you have all kinds of activities to help happen. Daily, you could be invited to two or three activities, so you have many options of things to do.
Great for these types of students Clarion is great for well-rounded students. Students who are fun-loving, as well as smart, will enjoy this University. There are many things to do, many hours to study, and many people to get to know.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus Supposedly, a few old buildings on the campus are haunted. Every October they go on a paranormal ghost hunt. Also during October, Autumn Leaf Festival (ALF) allows us to be pardoned from class to participate in the festivities. Every Spring, at CampusFest, there is a big performer; such as Kesha or Mac Miller.
Bang for the buck Clarion University has one of the lowest costs per education in Western Pennsylvania. With help of student loans and scholarships I am paying a low price for a high quality education. Clarion is recognized by AACSB International, the most rigorous and most prestigious business program accrediting body in the world. Less than 10% of all business schools worldwide are accredited by AACSB International, and for a low cost that will be put on my resume when I graduate and am looking for a job.
What to do for fun There is so much to occupy your time at Clarion University. As far as sports, there are various intramurals to be involved in, the Recreational Center to work out or shoot hoops at, and an outdoor hockey rink to shoot around or play a pick-up game in. There are also so many activities provided by different clubs, such as open mic nights, movies in the student center, and talent shows. In fall, there is the Autumn Leaf Festival that cancels classes and the town has a huge fair. Also, at CampusFest, pop-music-performer Kesha had a concert last spring, and rapper Mac Miller will be performing this year.
Food and Dining Eagle commons, the dining hall, has many choices of what you can eat. There are both a hot and cold sandwich station, various lines where the staff serves you, and serve-yourself stations including a dessert bar and cereal. There are various fountains with different flavors of sodas, flavored waters, coffees, cappucinos, juices, and milks. At Gemmell, the student center, you have the choice of a sandwich shop, pizza place, fried food station, coffeeshop, and a Baskin Robbins that you can pay with your meal plan. On campus there is also a Starbucks, and another coffee place in the library. Vending machines are all over campus in different buildings.
Dorm Life The dorms are awesome. The Community Assistants are reasonable, the kids are all friendly, campus and borough police keep them safe, workers keep them clean, and the rooms are large. You meet so many new faces, make so many new friends, and it is a lot of fun.
Academic Rigor As far as the eleven classes that I have had, the classes keep me busy. The tests are challenging, and you need to study to pass classes. However, professors know you by name and are willing to help students who may be struggling, or who just have questions to ask.
Tips for prospective students Keep yourself in a good mood and surround yourself with things that you enjoy. There are so many options of things to participate in, so many people to become friends with, and so much down time to study and keep your grades up. Also, check the weather before you go home for the weekend, you never know what you'll come back to; there was a snow storm in October and it is currently over 70 degrees in mid-March.
In three sentences Clarion University is in the heart of a small town in Western Pennsylvania, and the atmosphere is great. The staff is friendly and willing to work with students, the college of business is prestigious, and the classes contain a lot of information that is presented clearly. There are many activities to participate in during down-time, school or non-school related.

Categories Comments Great for these types of students I think that this is a good school for business, to meet new people, and it's a great school for art students. The professors are very well educated.
Tips for prospective students Get involved on campus, have a good time, and work hard. Clarion is a great university.
Bang for the buck I feel like I am paying almost next to nothing for a great university and great education.
Am enjoying being here I LOVE being here, so far this year is the best year yet. This campus has so many different things to do it's unbelievable! Get involved and you'll be sure to have a great time.
Am learning a lot This campus is a really great place to go to get a good yet affordable education. The class rooms have been updated a lot and have very comfortable learning environments. The professors are understanding and are willing to help you, so long as you put in the effort too. Clarion's a great university!

Categories Comments Great for these types of students Anyone who likes the outdoors. Tons of stuff to do outside, mountain bike, run, frisbee, rugby, track, basketball, and anything else you can think of. Its not a huge university but its not really that small either.
Tips for prospective students Don't be nervous for your first few classes. Bring a jacket! even if its hot when you move in the weather can change so much day to day and one day it can be 50 then the next it can be 30. Also, bring a tube to go sledding, so much fun!
Bang for the buck I'm in the business school and its great. The business school has AACSB accreditation which is the same as Pitt, PSU and other schools who's tuition is almost double Clarions.
Am enjoying being here I wasn't sure how much I would like being so far away from home but Clarion does a great job making students feel at home here. There is a bunch of stuff to do every weekend.
Am learning a lot So far I'm in mostly introduction courses so a lot of what I have been doing is just a review of my senior year but i know with the start of the next semester I will be getting into new subjects and more into my major. Most of the teachers seem to enjoy being here and they are always there for you.

Categories Comments Great for these types of students If you are looking to study Theater, Library Science, or having a teaching career in mind, Clarion is a school you should take a look at.
Tips for prospective students If you are looking for a school that isn't in a big city and gives you an at home feeling, Clarion is the school for you. Clarion is a quaint town with friendly people. Many restaurant, churches and stores are within walking distance of the school and for the further destinations, there is transportation provided at Clarion.
Bang for the buck Coming to a state school compared to a private school has been a savings. The finance department at Clarion has been very helpful.
Am enjoying being here There wasn't anyone that I knew coming to Clarion after high school graduation. I have met and become fast friends with several people. The town of Clarion is comforting in its size and the people are friendly.
Am learning a lot I am a Theater major and I never realized there was so much to learn. Not only am I advancing my knowledge through my studies, I am also learning responsibility of being on my own.

Categories Comments Great for these types of students Clarion is known for its education, library science, business, and communications programs. Our other programs are good, too, but these four are probably our best.
Tips for prospective students Buy some rain gear! I always joke that we only have two types of weather here: rain and snow. Don't come here if you like never-ending sunshine and warm weather - sunny days are rare. Also, be sure to have spending money; Main Street is FULL of cute little boutiques and awesome restaurants, and you're definitely going to want to try them at some point.
Bang for the buck For Pennsylvania residents Clarion is almost a steal. We have awesome professors who are as qualified as the profs in ivy league schools, and we have them for a fraction of the price! The dining hall is all-you-can-eat, and there's a bunch of other places on and around campus if you get sick of the cafeteria food. Just stay away from the all-girls and all-boys dorms - they haven't been renovated in quite some time, and they're not as nice as the other dormitories on campus.
Am enjoying being here Clarion is so much fun! The University Activities Board has started doing programs every Thursday through Saturday night, so there's ALWAYS something to do on the weekend. We have speakers and comedians from all over the country, and we even get entertainers that are famous nationwide; Ke$ha, the Rascal Flatts, and Blink 182 have all performed at our school, and we bring in someone new every spring! There's always something fun to do, especially if you get involved with campus clubs and activities.
Am learning a lot The professors at Clarion University are some of the best. I'm a library science student, and one of our cataloging professors is one of the best in the country, and he's here at Clarion! We have a TON of different majors and minors, and each semester there's always a couple of really interesting classes offered; right now, I'm in a paranormal studies class, and it counts towards my science requirement! Clarion is definitely the place to be if you're looking for a low-cost but high-education school.

Categories Comments Campus Safety Campus Safety is great! There are always cops out patrolling around campus. There are emergency alert buttons all around campus.
Clubs and Activities There are tons of clubs and activities on campus. I heard there is well over 100. Find something that interests you, and join it! Make friends with the same interests as you.
Great for these types of students Great for students who don't want to be in a small school, and don't want to be in a large school. Clarion is right in the middle. Not too big, but not too small either. Also, great for people who enjoy the small town feel, yet still within an hour or so from a major city. Clarion is also great for student's who have a smaller budget, but still want to get a real college experience.
Bang for the buck It's one of the most affordable schools in all of Pennsylvania. It's very well known for its education majors. You still get the same education (if not better) than at a college that is triple the price.
What to do for fun - Join an organization or club! You will make a lot of friends here. - In the fall, go to the football games. - Don't miss out on going down to the Autumn Leaf Festival (ALF) in October.
Food and Dining Usually the food is pretty good. If you aren't a picky eater you should be fine! Here are some of your options on & around campus. - Dining Hall: Usually, the food is pretty good here. With a lot of variety. Sometimes though, you strike out & can't find anything. - Gemmell Student Center: Has burgers, chicken, fries, subs, pizza, etc. Always a great alternative to the dining hall food. - Starbucks/Gemmell Grinds: Starbucks is located DIRECTLY on campus, and there is also another coffee/drink place in Gemmell. - Ice Cream Shop: Inside of Gemmell there is also an ice cream shop that is open in the evenings. - Outside of Clarion University: There are tons of places! Within walking distance there is Domino's, Subway, Wendy's, McDonald's, Bob's Subs, Vinny's Pizza, Captain Loomis, Daddy's, The County Seat, The New Deli, Michelle's Cafe & KFC. If you have a car or want to take the bus there are some more options of: Pizza Hut, Eat n Park, Taco Bell, Perkins, Applebee's, Cozumel, Long John Silver's and more!
Dorm Life I really wasn't sure how I would feel about living in a dorm, let alone a dorm filled with girls. BUT, I LOVE it! Probably one of the best decisions I've made so far. Here are the different options for on-campus living: - All girl dorm / all boy dorm (keep in mind, guys are allowed in the girls dorm and vice versa) - Unisex dorms - Campus Suites - Rhinehard (apartments owned by Clarion University)
Academic Rigor All of my professors have been great, so far. Small class sizes are a huge plus for me. Some of my professors even knew me by name. If you need to contact a professor, e-mail them. They will e-mail you back.
Tips for prospective students - Get flex points with your meal plan. You will have more meal options, and you can use them at Starbucks AND Gemmell Student Complex! - Don't sit around in your dorm room. Get out and go explore Clarion. - Make sure you have some extra spending money. You never know when you may get the munchies. There are stores and restaurants on Main Street. - If you have a vehicle and are allowed to bring it to campus, do it! Otherwise you will be stuck walking everywhere. Either that, or riding the bus. - Get involved in at least one club or activity. It's a great way to make new friends!

Categories Comments Campus Safety Public Safety does a great job at keeping everyone in Clarion safe, calm, and peaceful. Clarion is a really peaceful place to be.
Greek Life There is a great unity in the Greek Life at Clarion, as a member of a national fraternity at Clarion I can speak on that. I just wish there was more recognition of the importance of Greek Life on campus.
Clubs and Activities There are countless clubs and activities to part-take in at Clarion University.
Great for these types of students Ambitious, Focused, Hard Working, Serious, Social, Outgoing, and down to earth students.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus There are breathtaking views at Clarion University over the rest of Clarion county behind Egbert hall looking towards Wilkinson and Nair.
Bang for the buck Its a steal with the low tuition cost at Clarion! I have got to network with people who hold prestigious positions in politics who I never thought I would get to at such a young age.
What to do for fun I hold events with my fraternity, read, do research, hang out with my friends around campus and enjoy every second in the classroom.
Food and Dining The food and dining at Clarion University is the best dining I experienced at a University and I attended a few.
Dorm Life The dorm life is great at Clarion University.
Academic Rigor The academics at Clarion University will challenge any student, the level of work you have to do makes you think critically and push you to your limits.
Tips for prospective students Get to know everyone in your major department. Start strong and finish strong academically. Be consistent in your academic performance and visit your professors' office hours to ask questions and explain any concerns.
In three sentences Clarion University is a great educational institution and have so many programs and opportunities for their students. There is always something constructive to do on and off campus. Everyone from the administration to the staff does a superlative job at propelling the students of Clarion University careers.

Categories Comments Greek Life AMAZING!!! Everyone should definitely consider it.
Great for these types of students Honestly, just get involved and you will find you niche!
Academic Rigor The education is excellent. They professor really care about their students as long as you show them you care and are concerned. They are willing to do whatever they can to help their students succeed.
Tips for prospective students Be open minded. Half of the things I joined and became active in I would have never dreamed of in high school. Join something! Becoming active on campus was the best possible choice I could have made. It opened so many opportunities and I met a lot of really interesting people.
In three sentences Clarion University has an abundance of tools such as an on-campus speech and hearing clinic, wonderfully trained and educated staff, and advancing technology for my major compared to other state schools. I feel extremely prepared to pursue my major outside of the education that I am receiving here. Clarion University also is striving to achieve a diverse campus in which I feel they are doing a fabulous job!

Categories Comments Campus Safety There are campus safety call stations everywhere and there is always campus police in sight.
Greek Life I am currently a member of the Delta Zeta sorority. I love it!
Bang for the buck Clarion gives you a good quality education without you having to overpay for each class.
What to do for fun The campus has events every Friday and Saturday night, and I suggest going Greek.
Food and Dining There are a lot of different places to eat around the campus.
Dorm Life I currently live off campus, but where I live is affiliated with the university. It is really nice, but a little too expensive.
Academic Rigor Clarion challenges their students to do their best and have their full potential. The want to see everyone succeed.
Tips for prospective students Apply early and get everything done and your ducks in a row before the end of your senior year. Clarion is a good decision!
In three sentences The size of the campus is Perfect. The faculty knows you by name. There are many opportunities for success here.

Categories Comments Great for these types of students Clarion is great for anyone who wants to go to a school where you can have one on one time with teachers. There are activities for outgoing students as well as a quiet and friendly atmosphere for students who may be more reserved.
Tips for prospective students Be prepared for COLD winters and tons of snow. As long as you are friendly and willing to try new things college at Clarion or any school will be a fun experience. Look for extra curricular activities and try out several clubs until you find ones that you enjoy.
Bang for the buck Because it is a small school, Clarion doesn't have as many activities as some of the larger schools so the fees for activities is somewhat high. They do provide a good education and a safe and friendly campus.
Am enjoying being here Clarion is a small town with little to do. However, the students here are friendly and make life at Clarion interesting. The campus holds several activities that are free for students to participate in. These activities aren't always broadcast over campus so be sure to keep an eye out for activities you might enjoy.
Am learning a lot The teachers that I have met at Clarion are excited about teaching and make you want to learn. They go the extra mile to help you understand and gain from assignments. As long as you put effort into your classes, you will learn a lot.

Categories Comments Great for these types of students Students of all different types will enjoy Clarion, though city dwellers might face a bit of culture shock to discover that most of downtown is closed on Sundays!
Tips for prospective students Invest in yourself. Remember that you're at college to learn more and improve upon yourself. Don't worry about having enough time for fun, it'll find you!
Bang for the buck While I think Clarion is great, budget cuts across the state have been causing some increases in prices that aren't exactly great. Still, the university as a whole offers a very nice program.
Am enjoying being here I very much enjoy the atmosphere of the campus and though I do not live on campus, I know enough of campus life to say that it's a good time for most.
Am learning a lot Almost every professor I have encountered will provide as much assistance as he or she is able to offer to ensure that something is learned.

Categories Comments Great for these types of students Great for business and education majors.
Tips for prospective students If you are considering business, education, or library science you should check out Clarion. They have a wonderful programs here. Also if you go undecided ask someone about the different options as going as a student undecided.
Bang for the buck Clarion is a state school so it is cheaper than a private college would be but that does not mean they don't have good academics.
Will enjoy being here It is a small town but there is still things to do here. Just a mile from campus you can go swimming in the Clarion river. It is a beautiful place to be all throughout the year because you can experience all the different seasons. It is a beautiful campus.
Will learn a lot If you are looking to become an education major or business major this is the college to go to. It is ranked in the top 15% for both business and education.

Categories Comments Great for these types of students Probably a great place for intelligent students that want to make it one day, no room for dumb people. they make life difficult.
Tips for prospective students Make sure there's a good program for your major, and that if you're transferring, make sure your credits transfer by talking to a trnasfer counselor at your current school, or going to pacollegetransfer.com if you're in state.
Bang for the buck Probably one of the least expensive state schools to attend. I've looked into it, but then again Corbett is changing everything, but it's still the most affordable.
Will enjoy being here I hope so, should be better than being at my house again, and all my other friends are away at other schools, I'll get to do more things and be around others.
Will learn a lot I hope to learn a lot especially from the well established communications department which I'm convinced is key to making it to the top, but one also has to be motivated.

Tips for prospective students Get involved!! It's how you make friends. In college, as in life, you truly do get what you give. If you are willing to get involved in multiple organizations, you'll make a ton of friends and you'll have a great time because you'll always have SOMETHING to do.
Bang for the buck You can't really beat the price of public education. However, you'll find that the on-campus housing prices are way more expensive than they should be, especially when compared with housing off campus. You'll find that anywhere though.
Am enjoying being here I absolutely love Clarion. It's a small college in an even smaller town, but if you make the effort to get involved, you'll find that there's just as much to do here as there is anywhere else. I'm in a sorority and being in it has made a huge impact on my college experience! I've made lifelong friends who I love AND the leadership that I'm getting will look great on a job resume.
Am learning a lot Clarion is a great school with lots of knowledgeable professors who genuinely care about their students. As long as you put in the effort to learn, you'll get grades that reflect that.

Categories Comments Great for these types of students I feel as though any type of student can fit in here.
Tips for prospective students My biggest tip is to get involved early. Most freshman think they'll wait to get involved because they aren't settled in yet, but get involved as soon as you can. It is the best way to make friends and helps you establish time management right away. Plus there are some really cool groups. (Such as the TV and radio stations we have on campus. Come check us out!)
Bang for the buck For a state school, it is worth it. You get quality education without having to pay too much.
Am enjoying being here The community is great and the campus is a lot of fun. I can always find something to do. There is also a lot of things to get involved it which is great.
Am learning a lot Core classes are great. Most general education classes are good, if you take the right ones. There is a lot of great courses to pick from.

Categories Comments Campus Safety the campus is extremely safe. you never hear of any rapes or assaults or drug busts or anything like that, that a lot of other schools do, ever. very, very low crime rate, if any.
Great for these types of students somebody that wants to focus on their education and still have a social life. quiet campus but not too quiet. allows you to have stuff to do and have fun while still being able to focus on your classes without going crazy.
Bang for the buck tuition isn't that high, but your bill could be if you're in the suites so be prepared. budget bites in the food court offers some good food for some low prices.
What to do for fun the university does a great job of putting together activities for students. movies and events on the weekends. little stuff during the week. always somethin to do on campus along those lines. not much goin on outside of campus.
Food and Dining the food is great, deffinately better than alot of other schools. however, no on-campus options after about 9 or 10 at night.
Dorm Life traditional residence halls are more for freshman, they're interactive and provide some great oppurtunites for meeting people. the suites are alot more expensive but you get what you pay for. better for upperclassmen since they allow for more privacy. own bathroom and living room.
Academic Rigor any business major will have to take a few classes in a few different fields in business, but will still take around 24-30 credits for your major, specifically. math and computer competencies will be acquired through required courses. upper level business courses may introduce other computer programs. gen eds are pretty much the same as any where else.
Tips for prospective students don't be afraid to stay on the phone for an hour or so talking to many different people from the school. they will gladly answer any questions you have, so it's always a big help. if you'd like to focus on your education with personal attention from the professors, clarion is a top pick, especially since it's a state school with many students.
In three sentences the setting is quiet, but not too quiet, which allows for a social life and the ability to focus on your education. the food is great, especially for a college. professors are the best!

Categories Comments Campus Safety i always feel safe on campus. there are poles all over with buzzers that will get public safety to wherever you are quickly, but i have never felt the need to use these before. there are constantly campus police driving around, so you shouldn't feel unsafe at all.
Greek Life i am not personally active in greek life, but i know the fraternities and sororities are always doing something fun or helping the campus in some way.
Clubs and Activities there are what seems like a million things to do or join here. you'll be making friends in no time!
Great for these types of students clarion is great for students who want the regular college life, but without a campus that is too big where you are just lost in the crowd. professors here are actually extremely willing to help if you show that you are genuinely trying in their class.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus we have autumn leaf festival (alf) every year in the fall. the students get the friday of that weekend off of class and main street is full of food, activities, carnival rides, a huge craft show, and many other fun things. alf is a great time to be in clarion!
Bang for the buck clarion is reasonably priced compared to other colleges and you get a great education and a wonderful faculty.
What to do for fun there's not a whole lot to do for fun around clarion, but uab is always coming up with fun programs and things for students to do. you will never be bored here!
Food and Dining there are 2 places to eat on campus, eagle commons and gemmel. both have great food and you can have something new everyday. they have wonderful varieties.
Dorm Life i loved living in the dorms, it was like a sleepover with your friends every night! the ras are great and extremely helpful. you will meet so many people and build lifelong friendships. the only downfall is the sharing of the bathrooms, but it really isn't that bad.
Academic Rigor the classes are challenging, which is perfect because you are here to learn. college isn't supposed to be a piece of cake!
Tips for prospective students get involved with anything you think you might be interested in when you get here, but don't get overwhelmed. being involved opens up so many more doors for your future.
In three sentences clarion is a great place to make friends and get a wonderful education. there are a ton of things to get involved in and always something to do. you won't regret coming to clarion!

Categories Comments Campus Safety The campus is really safe. We have our own safety system as well as the town police. You will never feel unsafe at Clarion.
Greek Life There are a lot of different styles of Greek like. There are socials, academics, and service Greeks that anyone can get involved with.
Clubs and Activities There are plenty of clubs and activities for students to participate in. Clarion has a lot of academic, social, cultural, religious, and athletic groups for people to join. There is something for everyone.
Great for these types of students I think that Clarion is great for all types of students, particularly those who are looking for a smaller institution where their teachers will know them by their name and not as a number.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus Autumn Leaf Festival is a really popular event. It has been happening for many years. A lot of alumni attend and the community participates. They bring in carnival rides, food stands, craft stands, and anything else a person could want. It is usually part of homecoming week so it is a big deal for students and community alike.
Bang for the buck Clarion University is part of the PASSHE school system. Being a state school the tuition is not as high as a private institutions, however, you still get the same education.
What to do for fun Clarion has a lot of programs for students to get involved in. They also always supply the students with something to do each day of the week. There are also many things to do in the surrounding area. You will never be bored!
Food and Dining The university has multiple places for students to dine. They have many options at each place so you can always find just what you are craving.
Dorm Life They have different living arrangements to accommodate everyone. The dorms are a great place to meet people.
Academic Rigor My classes are interesting and challenging. The faculty push me to be the best I can, but they are there for me when I need help.
Tips for prospective students The most important thing is to pick a college where you feel comfortable and at home.

Categories Comments Campus Safety Clarion has its own campus police department that is constantly monitoring campus. It also has student Security Aides, that walk the campus at night to make sure every student is safe. It has its own text alert system, and blue light emergency phones scattered around the campus.
Greek Life Greek Life is very active on Clarion's campus and majority of all known Greeks are represented and all those involved with Greek Life are welcoming and active in helping their respective causes.
Clubs and Activities There are tons and tons of organizations students can join, everything from an Anime club, to a Recreational Outdoors club, and not to mention all the majors have their own organizations for you to join.
Great for these types of students Clarion is great for any type of student, but especially those that love to appreciate the outdoors!
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus A great time of year in Clarion is during A.L.F. or Autumn Leaf Festival. In October all the leaves change in Clarion and a week long festival is held in town. Vendors and rides sweep through, and the town becomes the mecca of activity. There is a Crafter's day, where the main street is shut down, and tons of hand-made crafts, are put on display, and also a parade leading to the stadium for our homecoming football game.
Bang for the buck Being a State University, Clarion is the best choice, you get so much more than you paid for.
What to do for fun In Clarion, the college offers events all throughout the week to interest its students, and every weekend offers some kind of entertainment. (i.e. a game show, comedian, etc) The University also has many intramural sports teams offered, and a rock wall in their Recreation Center. The town itself has many little shops and restaurants with great food. Also, not far away lies the Cook's Forest a Pennsylvania State Park, that has tons of hiking trails and activities like mini-golf and canoeing. Besides its surroundings Clarion offers many student run organizations that are constantly looking for new members and holding events across campus.
Food and Dining There are two options for dining on Clarion's campus provided by Chartwells. Eagle Commons, is the traditional buffet-style dining hall, which has many different options each day from a home-style cooking to Mongolian grill. Gemmell, is the second option for students, having a deli like feel, it offers choices like all ready made salads and sandwiches. It also offers grab and go options and a college student favorites like pizza, and chicken fingers. Also available are a coffee station in the library and a Starbucks.
Dorm Life Clarion University has a variety of dorms for you to choose from. There are two traditional co-ed residence halls, two newer suite-like buildings, one all male dorm, and one all female dorm. In each of these dorms a student staff of community assistants watch over perspective floors, engaging all who live there in a community where you just might meet your best friend.
Academic Rigor As a college student the workload always increases from high school, and Clarion is no exception. The classwork, depending on your major and credit level varies. The higher level of class taken the more work is expected of the student, yet none of the course load is ever more than a student can handle. Even if you begin to struggle, ask for help, the professors won't let you flounder. There are student Academic Resource Mentors and tutors available for all subjects. Plus each professors has their own set of office hours made especially for you to come and talk about any part of the class you might find challenging.
Tips for prospective students Prospective students need not look any further than Clarion University for their educational needs. With many accredited programs, there is something for everyone. Clarion looks at a student as a whole, so you don't need the best test scores to apply. Yet, with this in mind, be ready to work hard, just know you will not be working alone! All the professors and professional staff are here to help you find you way, not only in academics, but in your social life as well. Clarion has tons of opportunities for you to get involved with nation-wide student organizations, sports, and campus activities. At Clarion, there are many ways for you to learn, grow, and achieve; the only thing missing is you.
In three sentences Clarion University is a smaller college located in Western Pennsylvania. The professors and educational staff see each student as more than a number, but an individual with goals and dreams that they can advise, assist, and engage. The surrounding town and people provide a warmth and genuineness that is hard to come by in this day and age; which makes attending this university all the more enjoyable.

Clubs and Activities Wildlife, Biology, Math, Anime, Scuba, Newspaper, Magazine! So much more!

Categories Comments Campus Safety The campus is very safe. If anything was to happen, help will be on the way in no time.
Greek Life Greek Life is a wonderful opportunity. I joined Delta Phi Epsilon in the spring 2011. I met over 40 loving, outgoing, and caring sisters. I also met many others that are in other sororities. I can guarantee that there is absolutely no hazing.
Clubs and Activities There are many actitivies. Go to EFSN (Every Friday and Saturday Night), the activities are fun and you will meet tons of people.
Great for these types of students Research clubs are great for any science major. With research experience on someones resume, the higher opportunity he or she will have for a job.
What to do for fun There is a lot of activities to do on campus and off campus. There are sororities and fraternities that anyone can join. There are clubs such as, bio club, chem club, Spanish club, etc. Clarion also have activities for students on Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays.
Food and Dining Clarion food is not the best, but it is not the worst either. I suggest to eat the food anyways because you paid for the meal plan. Do not let your money go to waste. However, you can eat out too.
Dorm Life Dorm life is wonderful. You will meet a lot of people. I suggest to live on campus for at least 2 semesters. Residents of the residence hall will become you family.
Academic Rigor Clarion has an amazing education program. Their biology program is amazing as well. I learned many things I did not know when leaving highschool. The science building is brand new; it is an interesting building.
Tips for prospective students GET INVOLVED!

Categories Comments Campus Safety This is the safest school I can think of.
Greek Life Boring...but alive and well.
Clubs and Activities Lots of choices for most everyone.
Great for these types of students This place is great for Speech path and Education majors.
Bang for the buck You get what you pay for. You get what you put in. All in all, unless the Governor keeps cutting funding. This isn't such a bad place to get your BA.
What to do for fun They have a lot of happenings. One of the better things about this university.
Food and Dining The food is overpriced and taste awful in some cases. Sometimes they can surprise you though.
Dorm Life Never lived in the dorms.
Academic Rigor This has sometimes seemed far too easy.
Tips for prospective students Look at what others are saying. Go the distance in learning about what a professor may only be scratching the surface about. Remember, you get what you pay for.
In three sentences This school should not be a first choice for anyone. Some of the courses I have taken have been to easy. This makes it difficult when you are unprepared for the real world.

Categories Comments Bang for the buck It is one of the cheeper schools but the financil aid makes it confusing.
What to do for fun City wise there isn't much to do However Autumn Leaf Festival is the big thing in clarion. Make sure you join a good club as it will pay off in the future.
Food and Dining The food varies from day to day although breakfast i believe they do the best at. but for brunch be sure to arrive early on weekends.
Dorm Life Some of the dorms are substabdard but the friends you make there more than compensate for it. I only wish they would supply better toilet paper.
Academic Rigor The grades you receive really do depend on two things. First your work ethic and secondly your professor some are really difficult and others are easy.
Tips for prospective students Ask the upperclassmen for advice on which professors are better for the courses you are taking.
In three sentences It is a school that has plenty of opportunities for those who are wiling to work for it. The teachers there are wiling to help you whenever it is convenient for you. The facility is always in constant improvement so the is not shortage of progress.

Categories Comments Campus Safety Clarion Campus Police are good at their job. Be careful!
Greek Life Greek Life isn't that great, one decent sorority that no one really knows of anyways.
Great for these types of students This school will let you just take the backseat to a degree, so don't be that person. They come out of school wondering what the heck they're going to do. This school is for go-getters.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus Autumn Leaf Festival, have fun but don't get caught! It's our homecoming, and the town is PACKED. Don't expect anyone to show up for classes, the professors actually cancel and there is a scheduled day off.
Bang for the buck You definitely get what you're paying for, but not much more unless you push for it and ask around. For example, don't buy any computer program unless you go to the Becker Hall first and ask if they can sell it to you for cheaper, or even have a spare copy. Things like this aren't well known. And the bookstore has their own book loan system! (I advise only using it for custom clarion books, everything else, get it from amazon!)
What to do for fun EFSN shedules a lot of fun stuff, there really is a lot to do for the area. I was very impressed. They try really hard to offer things to do other than go out. For those of age, the bars aren't bad, and they're very cheap. But there is always somewhere to go and something to do, you just have to find it.
Food and Dining Our dining hall is better than most. Granted, it's still a dining hall and you can't have it all but there are a lot of options and if you leave hungry, it's your own fault. Gemmel is another place to eat, you can trade your meal from your plan, but it's kinda of waste unless you are in a hurry, then it is the perfect place. DEFINITELY GET FLEX, it's a life saver.
Dorm Life The dorms are old, smelly, and hot but they're also really fun. The suites are nice but be cautious of becoming a hermit, and the best part is the villages! They're actually cheaper than the suites and still on campus, seriously consider the villages.
Academic Rigor It's tough. Not the toughest, and yes, there are still a lot of easy classes. But be very cautious of what you're scheduling together, have a good balance. TALK TO YOUR ADVISOR! It really makes a difference.
Tips for prospective students Remember your rain boots and don't be afraid to put yourself out there and make friends or you will be miserable!
In three sentences It's large enough for me to get a genuine college experience but small enough that I can get the one-on-one attention if needed. Their Business Department, Speech Pathology Department, and Division 1 Wrestling Team are their best aspects, seriously consider Clarion for any one of these reasons.

Categories Comments What to do for fun I enjoy the gym and basketball. The Clarion Autumn leaf festival is a fun event that comes to town in the fall and brings a lot of alumni back.
Food and Dining I enjoy the dining options since they are different places to go eat and we have flex dollars.
Dorm Life Dorm life in the suites is great and i met a lot of friends.
Academic Rigor Balance your time for studying, classes and some recreation.
Tips for prospective students Use your time wisely and take advantage of all the things Clarion has to offer.
In three sentences Choosing Clarion University was the best choice for me. Being from a small town, I adjusted to Clarion easily. The professors are on a one to one basis with the students and i feel they care how well i do. I have enjoyed campus life and all the wonderful friends i have made.

Categories Comments Campus Safety I definitely feel safe. The campus has its own police force, and they're not rent-a-cops. There are call buttons all over the place and all the sidewalks are well-lit at night. They take good care of the students.
Clubs and Activities There are plenty of clubs to join. Plenty. And you definitely want to be active. I would suggest only joining a few and then really get involved with those few. If you're interested in any clubs, I think you can actually look them up on the website...there's an English club, a Bios club, Outdoor club just to name a few off the top of my head. You do actually have to get out of your room and go to meetings, but it is worth it. Of course, meetings can conflict with class times, but that's just something you learn to work around.
Great for these types of students Students that like a small-town feel. Main street is quaint and beautiful. It's also great for students that like to be hands-on and get to know their professors. I can talk with almost all of my professors on an even footing, and most of them are very willing to help out students in any way they can. It's great for a family feel, I feel connected when I'm here.
What to do for fun There doesn't look like a lot at first, but there are plenty of small places that you can go to around town. Clarion is in walking distance, I go there all the time with my friends. There are neat little antique shops and an adorable cafe. The university will host any number of events, most of them smaller. There is something every weekend, sometimes even a comedian or a low-key celebrity. There are also things to do within about an hour's driving distance if you have the inclination. I've been to a drive-in theater and a flea market. You just have to dig around a bit.
Food and Dining There isn't a wide variety as far as dining halls go. There's an all you can eat cafeteria, and then a small food court area. Most of the time the food is pretty good and you get a variety in both places. Sometimes, though, the food isn't the tastiest, but it is cafeteria food. Meal plans aren't exactly flexible....you have to bend yourself to work with the system every once in a while. But on the whole, it really is quite decent.
Dorm Life The dorms are clean and the rooms are pretty spacious. Of course, they aren't huge, but they have plenty of room to live in and move around in. Some of the buildings are older, and so they don't have air conditioning. They are heated well in the winter, so no worries there. Depending on where you live, you usually have to share a bathroom with a floor, but they're kept pretty clean. RA's are usually fairly laid back and don't write you up for petty things. Plus, the hall council will usually sponsor some sort of even now and then so you're not bored out of your mind.
Academic Rigor You definitely learn a lot, or at least I have in the past year. It's good to keep an open mind, and you can find professors that will help you with anything. Don't be afraid to approach them. There are plenty of classes offered that fit requirements and are also interesting. Each class is different because every professor is different, so there will be varying degrees of difficulty. As long as you put some kind of effort into the class, you can usually end on a good note. There are only a few classes (at least that I've heard of on my end) that are real challenges, sometimes because of the material itself and sometimes because the prof is a stickler.

Categories Comments What to do for fun I like to hang out with my friends and watch movies, also going to sporting events and getting involved with clubs.
Food and Dining One simple word leftovers. Sometimes the food is good but other times its the same thing that you have had already once in the week so my friends and I started calling them leftovers.
Dorm Life Dorm life is okay not every building has air conditioning but the suites are nice. You make friends with your roommate and others on the floor. Even if your roommate is a senior and you want to switch rooms before you meet each other, don't because you don't know what that person is like until you meet him/her.
Academic Rigor The Professors are very nice and get to know you better if you ask more questions and go for help.
Tips for prospective students Study hard, don't put things off till the last minute and have fun!
In three sentences It is a peaceful place during the summer and once all the students come back from break it gets busy all over again. It is also a great rural place to live at and there is always something for someone to do here. Categories Comments What to do for fun Outdoors enthusiasts enjoy the Clarion River for kayaking, swimming, and canoeing and the surrounding areas are great for hiking and climbing. There is a movie theater, small shopping center called a mall, Rec Center with a rock climbing wall, fitness equipment, basketball hoops, a gymnasium with an indoor pool, a student center with raquetball courts and lounge areas by a cafe and Hershey's ice cream, the UAB (University Activities Board) hosts movie nights, craft nights, dances, and other events. There are 5 bars in the area with good specials and of course the most popular event the Autumn Leaf Festival that brings in thousands of alumni and surrounding community members.
Food and Dining I've always thought the food was pretty good. I prefer to eat at Eagle Commons when I have the time because there are more options and they change daily. Gemmell never changes their food options but it is good for on-the-go items however a bit pricey.
Dorm Life Dorms are dorms but the CA's do a great job trying to get everyone to know each other and create fun activities for all. Bulletin boards are updated and apply to real life scenarios and how to apply them to better your experience at Clarion. Everyone should experience living in a dorm as a maturation process because you meet many different people-ones you like, dislike, or can't stand but being in college means being an adult and the dorm style living helps greatly in this process.
Academic Rigor Education department has a 3 out of 5 stars rigor. However, our Science and Math departments I have heard are a lot more intense.
Tips for prospective students Students should participate in on-campus activities and clubs to meet their fellow students. In a town with not much to do it is easy to fall into the partying trap. Set goals for yourself and have high expectations so that you will focus more on why you are here and what you can get out of it.
In three sentences Clarion is a small town with a great feel. The campus is beautiful and the surrounding area is ideal for outdoor enthusiasts. There is not much to do otherwise, so get good grades!

Categories Comments Campus Safety The patrol cars are always driving by, plus the dorms get patrolled at night.
Clubs and Activities There are a large number of Greek houses, and many different groups for all sorts of causes and activities.
Great for these types of students Social students who like being noticed by the teacher -- there's nowhere to hide in a typical class of 26!
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus The Autumn Leaf Festival is a huge deal here. The entire town is flooded with people and there are parades and various celebrations.
What to do for fun There are lots of social events and the school has a great gym.
Food and Dining Eagle commons has friendly staff and tons of variety in meal choices. Plus the ice-cream bar is pretty fun.
Dorm Life The dorms are pretty social environments, but living in close quarters with so may people can be a little stressful.
Academic Rigor With most activities and lessons on line, you can pretty much go at your own pace.
Tips for prospective students The academic load still leave plenty of time for social activity so start thinking about how you want to participate in the community.
In three sentences The school's small but great for social activity. Classes are never too far away. Every teacher greets the class with a smile.

Categories Comments Bang for the buck In the fall, there is a festival called Autumn Leaf Festival; during this festival, you can find $1 pizza right down on Main Street! Around Halloween and Christmas, the bookstore runs many sales on apparel and CU merchandise. 99% of programming put on for the students is also free, including two concerts during the year!
What to do for fun There are TONS of student recognized organizations on campus and there is a club for everyone's interests. You could also join a sorts team or take classes, like zumba, at the gym! On the weekends, movies are played on the big screen in the student center and there are numerous comedians and motivational speakers that come to the University on the weekends! I am never bored and I love being here on the weekends!
Food and Dining People may say that the dining hall doesn't have the best food in the world, but, it is actually pretty delicious! It is conveniently located on campus and breakfast, lunch, and dinner are served. There are so many options, you are never stuck eating the same type of food everyday!
Dorm Life Dorm life is awesome! I currently live in a residence hall and the people I have met are so interesting and from all over the world! We are like a family; you get to know people on a more personal level when you live door-to-door with them.
Academic Rigor The professors obviously expect a lot from the students here at Clarion. This may sound intimidating to a new-comer, but, I adjusted quickly and the professors are really understanding and will help you with anything you need.
Tips for prospective students I would recommend visiting the university and getting to know the dean of the college that you are interested in (Arts & Sciences, Education, etc...). Clarion is such a great town, exploring Main Street will be a treat in itself!
In three sentences Clarion is such a great school! It is small enough that you won't get lost, but, large enough where you will be exposed to many different types or people and organizations. So far, the experiences I have had are unforgettable!

Categories Comments Campus Safety Public safety is always on top of their job. Nothing major ever really happens here. It's a safe community.
Greek Life Decent.
Clubs and Activities There are A LOT of different clubs and organizations you can join. If there is something that you want to do and they don't have it on campus you can create your own club.
Great for these types of students Who want to meet new people, be involved, and aren't afraid of a different environment.
What to do for fun If there aren't any organizations throwing any events which is kind of rare to happen. Clarion has a movie theater that you can go to. If you have a car it's not too far from Pittsburgh or Grove City.
Food and Dining It all depends on what they are serving. Besides the fast food restaurants we have on campus we have the Dining Hall Eagle Commons which is a buffet of varieties of foods and Gemmell Complex Center where you can also choose different choices of food such as, pizza, cheese fries, burgers, pasta, tacos, sandwiches, etc.
Dorm Life I lived off campus these past two years. but I lived in the dorm my freshman year and it was a fun experience (besides the community bathrooms) you meet so many different people and you have a good time doing different activities.
Academic Rigor I believe Clarion is known for their education, communications, and business programs. They help you succeed, just take your education as serious as they do.
Tips for prospective students Network and get involved. Talk to your professors and advisers. If people know who you are they can always refer you to a great opportunity or help you out in some way whether it is for a class, an organization, or a internship/job opportunity.
In three sentences Clarion is just the right size, not too big, not too small; it is community friendly. For it to be a small town there are a good bit of opportunities here to help you succeed in what you would like to do.

Categories Comments Campus Safety There are emergency buttons located all over campus, and you cannot go very far without seeing a campus cop somewhere nearby. They respond to the emergency buttons in less than 60 seconds. The campus is relatively safe in general. It's not very often that you hear of dangerous occurences happening.
Greek Life Several sororities and fraternities are on campus.
Clubs and Activities There are a tremendous amount of clubs on campus that are open to anyone who wants to join. If they don't have the club you want, you have the option of creating that club!
Great for these types of students Students who would like to learn in smaller classrooms and where the professors know each student's name. Students who like calm, quiet surroundings and don't mind the cold temperatures. Students who do not get bored easily.
Bang for the buck You get the fair mix of bad professors, but Clarion University generally has wonderful professors that are willing to help you in any way. Many of them spend time with you after class and will go to all lengths to help you improve. I learn a lot and I am very satisfied with my education.
What to do for fun It is fun to just hang out around campus and do activities with friends. They always have a movie playing each weekend. They often hold craft activities, both campus-wide and in each dorm or suite, such as making pillows, stuffed animals, t-shirts, painting piggy banks, etc.. They also have a concert at the college each semester with bands/artists that the campus votes on. There is a bowling alley down the road as well. A night club is next to the campus that many students love to dance at.
Food and Dining The food is not great, but is average for school food. There is a central dining hall that is buffett-style. There is also a food court-style area. In addition, there are multiple places on campus or nearby to eat. Starbucks, Subway, Wendys, McDonalds, Carlson Cafe, etc.
Dorm Life Regular dorm rooms are average. Comes with furniture. The suites are wonderful. They are larger rooms and contain one bathroom for every two students. The suites also have a common area (or living room) to add more space. The suites also have central air conditioning/ heating, whereas the regular dorm rooms do not.
Academic Rigor You sometimes get those mean, unhelpful professors but it is not very often. Most professors are very helpful. If they are not, there are other staff members that take it seriously and will help you if you let them know your problem.
Tips for prospective students I absolutely love this college, and I would never choose to go anywhere else. The campus is relatively small and easy to get around. There are always accommodations for people who need extra help in any way. The staff at clarion are very helpful.
In three sentences Clarion University is a great college that provides high quality education from helpful professors. It is a great school that allows students to learn in a small class size and communicate on a personal level within the classroom. Clarion University is in a small, quiet town that allows for a calm and pleasant experience.

Categories Comments Campus Safety The police could care less if you were in danger, they are more concerned with catching underage drinkers and partners than innocent people who are getting stalked!
Greek Life They don't inform you about Greek life so unless you already know all there is to know about Greek life, you have no idea how to join.
Clubs and Activities They have a lot of clubs, but it's hard to be involved in all of them and they all end up meeting on the same day at the same time.
Great for these types of students Nothing really.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus ALF week in October is made out to be such a big deal but its lame and a disappointment.
Bang for the buck It's cheap and you get what you paid for!
What to do for fun NOTHING!
Dorm Life Sucks.
Academic Rigor I feel like I am in high school.
Tips for prospective students Don't go here unless you absolutely have to. But if you have to, find friends fast who actually like Clarion. Save your money because there are no late night options on campus so your gonna be eating a lot of McDonald's and Dominos.
In three sentences Clarion is terrible; the students are the most rude and immature, drama obsessed people I have ever met-they are still stuck in high school. The faculty and staff are horrible, they do not care about the students, whether we are having trouble or unhappy they don't care and they don't try to help. The food at Clarion is the worst, with a students busy schedule they have no late night options or take out options, you have to take an hour out of your day to go to either gemmel or commons (because those are the only TWO options) and sit down to eat.

Categories Comments Campus Safety You can ALWAYS call campus safety to come pick you up if you do not want to walk back to your dorm alone. They are trustworthy folks.
What to do for fun Shop at the stores on Main Street, go out to eat in many local restaurants, attend a sports event, visit the local library, attend an Every Friday and Saturday event, rock climb at the Rec center, etc..
Dorm Life Leave your door open so that you can easily make friends.
Tips for prospective students Study hard. Begin homework assignments as soon as you get them, even if they are not due until two weeks later. Leave your dorm door OPEN so that you make friends with everyone on your floor. GET INVOLVED in more than one club. Take a leadership position in at least one of those clubs. Make smart decisions.

Categories Comments Food and Dining The food here is excellent! The dining hall offers a wide variety of foods, most of which are healthy. It's cooked right in front of you and is always fresh. The price for students is under $10 for all you can eat, so it's easy and cheap to eat well.
Dorm Life The typical dorm room is of average size, but unlike other schools most of them have crisp coats of white paint, so the rooms don't feel like prison cells. There are also apartment-style housing and suites available. The suites sleep 4 and provide a common living room area. That particular housing arrangement is really nice because it provides you with an area to hang out and be social, but you also have the option of privacy in your own room.
Academic Rigor In my opinion, Clarion wasn't very academically demanding. However, they do offer many many opportunities to their students. In particular, they have a very strong study-abroad program.
Tips for prospective students VISIT! The campus is situated on top of a hill, which affords great views, but unfortunately makes biking hard (something I wouldn't have known if I hadn't gone to visit). Also, most colleges claim that their staff are caring and genuinely interested in your welfare. This isn't always true (though in this case it is). Meet with students and faculty before you devote yourself to a school.
In three sentences Clarion is a great little school. It is fairly small, but it has a very homey atmosphere. I have never met more helpful and genuinely interested faculty and students.

Categories Comments Food and Dining I'm an online student, so this doesn't apply to me.
Dorm Life I'm an online student, so this doesn't apply to me.
Academic Rigor The professors are mostly communicative and open with their information. Occasionally, they forget about their online students, but most of them are fantastic!
Tips for prospective students If you're taking the online courses, be prepared to make lots of phone calls. E-mails are seldom answered or are sluggishly attended to.
In three sentences Clarion's online program has good and bad sides. The variety of classes available is fantastic, but the differences between professors is frustrating. Also, constant information about local happenings is annoying when I live in Virginia and have never been to campus.

Categories Comments What to do for fun In Clarion, there is not much around, however, it is so easy to find friends. I like to watch movies/go to the movies or just hang out. Going to the river is probably my most favorite thing to do.
Food and Dining The cafeteria always provides different meals each day, which is what I like best. Although it is not my mom's homemade cooking, it is much closer than a hamburger and french fries every night. I like Gemmell's food the best because they make whatever you want, the way you want it.
Dorm Life My experience in the suites are campus was wonderful! They are so new and clean. I loved having a living room and my own bathroom because it made me feel like I was in a homier place than most dorms.
Academic Rigor The academic rigor all depends on your major. As a communication major, I have found my classes to be much less stressful than others. However, I also enjoy my major, which some people do not.
Tips for prospective students Make sure you talk to people about what to expect from a certain class or certain professor. I have found that by knowing someone who has taken a class, it has been less stressful. Most of all, make sure you attend class because it is the easiest way to pass.
In three sentences Clarion is the perfect school. The campus is not too big and it is not too small, therefore, professors and faculty are able to know you by name. The school cares about each of the students, and I have enjoyed my first two years thus far because of that.

Great for these types of students Clarion is great for small town folks, or people who don't enjoy large cities and noise.

Bang for the buck I personally think college is too expensive in general, but I would chose Clarion over any other college when it comes to price.

Dorm Life I lived in the suites, which is more expensive than traditional dorms, but I felt like I was living at home with my sister. It was a great place that is well kept and safe to be in.
Academic Rigor Clarion has many majors to choose from and their professors are very helpful with one on one time.
Tips for prospective students If you are expecting to come to Clarion, you are expecting to have a great education and fun doing it. I have been here for one year and I have been given many opportunities to be socially active to meet new friends and help study. This is a wonderful choice for your future.
