Great for these types of students

CAU is great for the go-getter kind of student. One of CAU's motto's is Find a way or make one which describes the kind of student that will work to achieve their goals and do what it takes to fulfill their dreams by any means necessary all while making a way for future students just as what was done for them. The HBCU background does not, in any way, discriminate against other ethnicity. We are a school that is dedicated to the success of the future generation, race and ethnicity aside.

    Tips for prospective students

CAU is definitely one of the best...but, because we are located in the heart of a big and exciting city, my advice to prospective students would be to stay focused; remember that you are here for growth and educational purposes. Practice time management; it's normal to have a social life but make sure that you balance that time. Be true to yourself; being realistic and setting achievable goals before coming to school outlines your academic year and has already put into practice a form of time management.

    Bang for the buck

With the dedication of the faculty and staff, I have definitely gotten the full worth of of my tuition here at CAU. There are also plenty of on campus activities as well as clubs and team-associated programs to be involved in.

    Am enjoying being here

Campus life is always exciting and educational! From the fraternity and sorority involvement on campus to the volunteer opportunities and fundraisers, CAU definitely exceeds expectations.

    Am learning a lot

Clark Atlanta University has provided me with the tools I need in order to matriculate gracefully throughout my college career and my life. Academically, CAU has a staff and faculty team that is concerned and dedicated to my success. I have a respectful relationship with my professors which allows me to get the help I need when struggling or just need someone to talk to which has lead to my academic success. CAU has also broadened me culturally due to its HBCU background.

Great for these types of students

Those looking for a fast-paced environment and wish to be surrounded by people just like you.

    Bang for the buck

I think the school costs wayyy too much for the education received. The money seems to go towards things that don't help the students much.

    Am enjoying being here

I absolutely love the environment of the school. There are a lot of young students striving to become better in life, which is refreshing. Not to mention the AUC life. It's an experience that no one would want to miss out on.

    Am learning a lot

Some classes are not as helpful as others. The only way I get a real challenge is in my Honors courses.

Great for these types of students

Get involved and do not hesitate to start networking as early as freshman year =)

    Tips for prospective students

Stay focus and do not forget your reasons for wanted to attend CAU.

    Bang for the buck

It cost about $30,000 a year to attend CAU and I think in order to attend such an expensive school, your heart has to be 100% committed to attending a private HBCU. The majority of the students are quite familar with loans, and because of that you have to take you education and of course your money very seriously!

    Am enjoying being here

I love Atlanta! There's always something to do in the city and around the campus as it sits in the mist of Downtown Atlanta.

    Am learning a lot

Many of my classes are quite boring, and it's hard to concentrate to a boring professor. Do not allow this to stop you from going to class or falling asleep in class, you have to stay focus!

Great for these types of students

Those who want to have fun and get an education...in that order.

    Tips for prospective students

Get involved in high school and keep your academics up.

    Bang for the buck

I would NOT pay to go to this school! I attend Clark Atlanta on a full academic scholarship. The tuition is way more than the education is worth.

    Am enjoying being here

Now the atmosphere is great! Atlanta is a fun city and a part of the AUC which includes Morehouse and Spelman. There is always something to do.

    Am learning a lot

Honestly I am not being challenged in all of my classes and I can say i've only learned in two subjects so far. At this school it is important to get a serious teacher if you want to get what you're paying for. Of course it's great to get through a class effortlessly but when you go get your job and realize you dont know anything...then what?

Great for these types of students

Students who work hard and are strong that have drive, determination, and are willing and ready for a roller coaster ride.

    Tips for prospective students

Always put school first make it your number one priority. It is so easy to get caught up in the party life make sure you limit yourself because if you don't you will find yourself falling behind. Get involved you will learn so much and meet so many great people. Most importantly spend your money wisely!

    Bang for the buck

This institution is very expensive and sometimes you might find yourself questioning is the school even worth it. However if you use all resources available to you, you will truly find yourself getting the bang for the buck.

    Am enjoying being here

Join a club, sports team, and or fraternity. By doing so you can form brotherly and sisterly bonds that can never be broken. It is also a way to keep yourself occupied and on track. It is also a good way to learn about the city and fun places to go from the upperclassmen who have experience.

    Am learning a lot

Become very involved in the classroom environment. You will learn so much just by engaging in conversation with your professors and fellow classmates about the readings assigned and the issues going on in the community. You also will learn a lot of information about Black History that was not taught in previous schooling. Get to know your professors and always try to stand out in the classroom.

Great for these types of students

Clark Atlanta is great for students seeking to be known in the world. With all the actors, musicians, rappers, fashion experts and movie directors, there is always someone from the entertainment business looking for new faces to be seen!

    Tips for prospective students

Clark Atlanta is a good school but it is also very expensive. Scholarships and other types of monetary aid are useful in your matriculation at this school.

    Bang for the buck

This college is VERY expensive. Over $30,000 a year. If you can afford it, be my guest, but Clark Atlanta is a private institution so they are very costly.

    Am enjoying being here

I enjoy the HBCU experience at Clark Atlanta. It is a friendly environment and there is a lot to do.

    Am learning a lot

The classes are mostly review. I have not learned anything new since being at Clark Atlanta. I enjoy the classes, but the information is not new.

Great for these types of students

Any African American student who wants to attend an HBCU and likes the fact that it is very small. Also if you want to get a lot of internships and things of that sort

    Tips for prospective students

If you are thinking about Clark Atlanta University I think you should of course see if the distance is something you can handle. A lot of student come from out of state and can't get back and forth home. You should also think about how big of a city Atlanta is and if you can handle being away.

    Bang for the buck

I would have to that you get what you pay for, the school is great and a lot of great things can happen if you apply yourself.

    Am enjoying being here

Atlanta is a great place to go to school and the school is involved well in the community there is a lot to do and it never boring. You can meet people in the AUC the (Atlanta University Center) which also includes Spelman and Morehouse

-People that want to experience an HBCU -People that love the ATL -Students that want to major in business(great business program)

    Tips for prospective students

I think that African American students and whoever else wants the HBCU experience should definitely attend Clark. Make sure to develop a relationship with your professors because they can really help you out when its crunch time. Also, become involved in the different clubs around campus. There are so many things to do and it helps you to become such a well rounded person.

    Bang for the buck

So, i love everything about the school expect when it comes to the tuition. I'm from California so of course the out of state fees are ridiculous. I'm intended to pay about $33,000 a year to attend this university which is far from affordable. Yet, i would do anything to stay in the place that i am at in this University so ends meet.

    Am enjoying being here

I absolutely love the AUC. Being able to attend this University is such a blessing. God has truly placed me in an environment where i see people that i can unite with as an ethnic group of individuals that have thought past societies expectations. I am very proud to say that i attend Clark Atlanta University because it is my Historically Black College University that will enhance my knowledge as well as build me up with the most deference for my peers among me.

    Am learning a lot

Clark is an Amazing school to attend. I personally reap the benefits of the whole experience of going here especially when it comes to my classes. It helps a lot when the professors are more active with the students which i feel Clark holds the end of the stick for. I love all my classes and feel that i have learned so much that will enable me to prosper in my future career as a business manager.

    Campus Safety

Campus safety security is always around. However we are hardly ever really threatened by the community and the deans DO NOT tolerate any violence amongst our campus community. In fact Clark is very active in the surrounding community and mentors at local schools as well. Because of this connection to the those around us we rarely have to worry about any threats coming from the community.

    Greek Life

Greek Life on CAU's campus is very prominent. Many of the Greeks are very much involved on campus and within the community. They really take on the role of being the leaders of the campus and encourage positive activities and events on campus.

    Clubs and Activities

There are over 30 clubs throughout campus and most activities are sponsored by such clubs. Also there is a club for almost every and any thing you can think of. So really there is no reason to ever really be bored or not involved because there is always something to do. Many of the clubs are very inviting to gaining members. In fact after induction all the campus clubs are out on the campus strip known as the promenade with sheets anticipating their new arrivals.

Great for these types of students

CAU is great for students who are enthusiastic, interactive and who are academically driven.

Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus

One thing many find unusual is the sacred grass of Clark's campus. The sacred grass is only used for special occassions, such as induction and graduation even sometimes for a campus wide Movie on the Green. Otherwise no one is allowed to step onto the grass, if so it is believed that the person or people who do will not graduate or at the very least not graduate on time.

    What to do for fun

There is always things to do for fun, its all about being interactive on campus!

    Food and Dining

The cafe is the hangout spot. Everyone comes together for a meal. Especially on Wednesdays and Friday. Wednesdays are fried chicken with mac n cheese n collard greens. Fridays are fish with grits. Those are the best days for the cafe. Other than that when people are broke and need a bite the cafe is the place to go for a simple burger n fries or even just a slice of pizza.

    Dorm Life

Living in the dorms at Clark can be quite the adventure. Within the dorms is where there is the most diversity. All of the dorm mates are from all over and have different ways of living. This is where your morals and integrity will be tested the most. It is very important to embrace and engage with dorm members prior to any others on campus. Those are the people whom most interaction will occur other than in the classroom. Dorm Life is all about what the people make of it.

    Academic Rigor

Academically, Clark succeeds in challenging the student to be responsible and to be punctual. Not often is a student permitted to turn in work late nor are they permitted to come in class late. I will say it mostly depends on the teacher, however overall being academically stable is very important.

    Tips for prospective students

I would definitely advise prospective students to come in with an open mind and ready to be interactive. The best way to enjoy that wonderful campus life is to be involved. There is no other way to really get the full experience of the campus diversity without being involved.

    In three sentences

Clark Atlanta University is a very fundamental and innovative environment. There is always events around campus that gets the student body involved. Also, the atmosphere is very diverse and encourages unity amongst the campus community.

    What to do for fun

There is a lot to do in Atlanta. There are clubs, sporting events, malls and a lot of dining options. You can also meet people from the other colleges and attend their functions.

    Food and Dining

The food is good. It has a southern flare. They offer a lot of choices.

    Dorm Life

I live in CAU Suites. It is very spacious. Me and my roommate are not on top of each other. It is modern and in a good proximity to everything on campus.

    Academic Rigor

The academics are on point. The professors offer a lot of support. As a student you need to be focused and keep your social activities in perspective.

    Tips for prospective students

In preparation to attend Clark make sure you build up your savings account. You need to have cash for unexpected expenses.

    In three sentences

My first semester at Clark was great. The Mass Media Program offers very good exposure to the field. The first week I attended a seminar with Spike Lee. I also got the opportunity to work in the television studio as a freshman.

    Bang for the buck

The food's not worth the almost 2k. but the education is surely worth every dollar

    Am learning a lot

When they said college was hard they lied to us all. You must apply yourself. Especially since your pushing out the bucks more rapidly than there coming in. Clark Atlanta is my home away from home. I guarantee any problem your dealing with they will try to help you. Although they can not solve every problem they definitely do reinforce their motto ill find a way or make one. Here they will mold you into the young man or woman you want to be. Teachers love to help they emphasize their office hours and they certainly acknowledge effort. All of my life I've waited for the day id be really proud of something. In August 2010 I honestly got that wish fulfilled when i stepped on campus and finally became a Clark Atlanta Panther. Culture for service its not just our Motto its our life.

Clark Atlanta University has wonderful programs in Business, Mass Media Arts, Science, Post and Secondary Education and Computer Science

    Tips for prospective students

For incoming students you really need to join at minimum one organization on campus, there are so many to chose from and also network with others and do to class everyday, trust it will pay off. Also, don't get caught up in the party life know what you came to college for and stay focused.

    Bang for the buck

Clark Atlanta is worth the money coming to CAU will definitely give you the biggest bang for your buck. The education you will receive is worth the money, also their are so many organizations on campus that there is always a way of getting involved and giving back as well. The professors are nice and the dorms have been newly renovated and coming to CAU will be the best experience of your life time.

    Am enjoying being here

Going to college in Atlanta is such a wonderful experience their are many new opportunities in the city of Atlanta especially if you are a Media Major. Also, outside of school their is live entertainment, the social life is amply, and being in the center of downtown provides many eatery places within walking distance.

    Am learning a lot

As a sophomore at CAU I haven been taught that networking is a major part of the college experience because meeting new people can one day lead to a job resource. CAU is a very challenging school and the course I have taken challenged me to think outside the box and be open to new learning techniques. Coming to CAU has been a wonderful experience and I am learning many new things every day.

If your major is business, mass media arts, social work, or science you have a great opportunity to get all the necessary tools to better your future. My major is social work and by attending at Clark i can get my BA & masters within 5 years with a 3.0 or higher once i graduate with my BA.

    Tips for prospective students

-make sure that you choose the appropriate class times for you. meaning please don't pick a 9 am class when you know that you don't get up until 11am. -make enough friends so that you have a variety of things that you can do and get involved in for community service and free time. -make a semi schedule for your harder classes so that you will pass them. meaning make a study schedule so you will be on track. -make sure that you take the right amount of classes each semester so that you won't be on overload and fail classes that you will have to repeat. -get to know your professors they are always willing to help you.

    Am enjoying being here

I enjoy being here because I get the freedom that I always wanted. Even though I get homesick, I manage to find different activities to involve myself it so that I can enjoy being away from home. The students are nicer than what I thought they would be. The network is so incredible it makes me feel like I have a second home that I am accepted at.

    Am learning a lot

I am learning a lot about the black perspective in all my subjects. It has opened my mind to many more questions and thoughts that I didn't have in the past. In addition it has made me comfortable with who I am and what I want and need for my future.

Great for these types of students

    - Hard working - Prospective business majors - Prosepective mass media majors - Outgoing

    Tips for prospective students

Make sure that you are mentally prepared to be in a city where temptation lurks every day. I have seen so many colleagues get pulled into the party life. I do not blame this on the institution but on the students' inability to choose between work and play. Also, the institution is beginning to really crack down on students who are falling behind and are not serious about gaining a higher education. So if you are not prepared to work, this school may not be right for you.

    Bang for the buck

CAU is a fairly expensive university to attend but like any other private institution, that is expected. As a biology major, CAU may not have been the best choice for me HOWEVER, I have been given so many opportunities and have met so many great people in my field. These things may not have happened had I attended school somewhere else. I feel like the money that I spend on my education here will be worth it in the end.

    Am enjoying being here

I love being at CAU. There is always something to do to keep you occupied in your free time and being 10 minutes away from downtown makes it even that much better. The overall atmosphere on campus is phenomenal. Everyone treats each other like family and anyone who attends is bound to be treated with respect by both students and faculty.

    Academic Rigor

Most of the classes that I have taken have allowed me to learn more than I thought I would, and not just academically. There are so many professors here that are really trying to help their students and will talk to you about anything. Even if it is something that is going on in your personal life. I have gained so much knowledge since making my transition and continuing my matriculation through CAU. As long as you attend all of your classes and work hard, it will not be a struggle. Honestly, there are a few professors who do not teach very well and will let their students get away with things that they should not, but by talking to upperclassmen you can gain a lot of insight on which professors to take and which to stay away from.

Great for these types of students

Mass Media Majors, Business Majors, Outgoing individuals, Afro-Centric individuals, anyone who wants to experience a new environment.

    Tips for prospective students

GET INVOLVED!!!! Also, considering the social life in Atlanta is intriguing, remember what you came to school for. Stay focused, and the biggest aspect of successfully matriculating through any college is TIME MANAGEMENT! Choose your time wisely!

    Bang for the buck

Considering it is a private institution, tuition is not the cheapest. Unless your getting federal aid, getting enrolled can become a hassle. Considering how much we pay to attend CAU, a lot of different ideas, organizations, academics, and activities could be implemented. It's just going to take the right aspiring student to change this.

    Am enjoying being here

Besides the countless encounters and memories I've come across during academic hours, the social life here is amazing. Considering CAU is close to downtown Atlanta, there are various activities you can get involved with. Lots of sight-seeing, attractions, and dining. On campus, there is just about an organization for anything you can think of. My advice to perspective students is to get involved!

    Am learning a lot

Truthfully, with any college, you get what you give. I have an array of friends at Clark Atlanta, and some of them breeze through classes, but others choose challenging teachers that encourage them to excel academically. It's what you make it. Some classes (like the ones that are a breeze) could improve academic wise, but for the most part the academics at CAU are great. Another great learning aspect are the tools Clark Atlanta give you to help you find yourself personally. Not only do they prepare you for the job force, CAU prepares you for life! That's one thing I love about attending this HBCU.

If CAU is one of your options that is a good choice. You will never experience the college experience until you come here.To me its not your typical HBCU this is a different and better experience. I'm in the marching band here and being in the band is something I did not plan on doing, but because of the family type environment I decided to join and now I am and will always be a MIGHTY MARCHING PANTHER!!!!F2BAMMP

    Am enjoying being here

I just love Atlanta!!!It has a lot of culture here. And you meet so many people from various places

CAU has definitely been a great experience for me.This has always been my dream school since I have been in the 6th grade. So to finally achieve that goal is a blessing. Here we do learn a lot. Great for people who love the night life, love to learn, and love to socialize.

    Tips for prospective students

If you plan on attending Clark Atlanta University, make sure you are mentally prepared for the school work and the social life. Be prepared to learn to balance out the two. Also before starting school, make sure everything you need to have straight with financial aid, student accounts, housing, etc. is correct.

    Bang for the buck

Clark Atlanta cost 33,000 dollars to attend every year. Yes, this may seem like a large amount but what you get for this amount is priceless. Once enrolled at CAU, students are able to take classes at Morehouse and Spelman for no additional cost. Attending CAU is an awesome chance to get diversity of the three schools that are in the Atlanta University Center (AUC).

    Am enjoying being here

With CAU being in the center of Atlanta, this offers a lot of things to do also many oppurtunities. Atlanta is a very high commercialized city which offers varies activities for all types of people. Clark Atlanta is also affiliated with a lot of other schools and organizations in the area, so there is never a dull moment.

    Am learning a lot

CAU definately offers a challenge academically. The teachers are very dedicated to their work and will work with you the whole way through.

Great for these types of students

Clark is great for all students especially students who haven't ventured out much.

    Tips for prospective students

Come to clark with a focus mind set on exactly what you want to do because if you get off track it's hard to get back on the right pathway. Come with a open mind because you can do so many things and meet so many people that you stay contacted with for the rest of your life.

    Bang for the buck

Now don't get it wrong Clark is very expensive and yes they could use try to update the campus and add more to it for as much as we pay but they surely don't. But if anyone were to ask me would I do it all over again and pay double I surely would because I LOVE CLARK ATLANTA UNIVERSITY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Am enjoying being here

I love being at clark because of the diversity that it provides even though its a HBCU there are so many students for all over the United States that make it as fun as it is. To add to this diversity we also have Morehouse and Spelman college that are very close by.

    Am learning a lot

I learned a lot from Clark not just in my school work but as a black woman entering the work force. I have changed because of Clark in a positive way. I done things that I never thought I would have ever imagined I could do. Getting to know my teachers was the best way for me to learn.

Great for these types of students

Clark Atlanta University is great for students that love to have fun, but at the same time know when it's time to get down to school work. It is easy to get distracted because there is always something going on in the AUC, so if you are easily distracted, Clark Atlanta University is not for you if you want to get your moneys worth for school and get the education you paid for. But for students that are looking to broaden their networks, our Business School and our Mass Media Program is terrific! I LOVE MY SCHOOL (CAU)

    Tips for prospective students

Go to class, pay attention, take notes, and review notes everyday and your sure to get an A. Also use you professors to your advantage because they are here to help you, as well as always make sure your professor knows you by name so they know who you are. If they don't, when it comes to grading you it may stir up problems when coming up with class participation.

    Bang for the buck

Clark Atlanta University is VERY expensive. It is a private school, but they hardly give out scholarships unless you play sports for them. Seeing that I unfortunately do not get financial aid, I pay out of pocket and $36,000/year is a lot of money; especially the way our economy is now a days.

    Am enjoying being here

Clark Atlanta University is one of the best things that has happened to me. What people don't know unless they come here is Clark Atlanta University is apart of the the Atlanta University Center, which is known as the AUC where all the colleges and universities get together and work together. Our close partners in a lot of the organizations and activities we do are partnerships with Morehouse College, Spelman College, Morris Brown College, Morehouse School of Medicine, and Interdenominational Theological Center (ITC). This makes college so much more fun because not only do you meet people from your school, but others as well which enables students to network even more which is an excellent opportunity here in the AUC.

    Am learning a lot

Here at Clark Atlanta University, yes it is a HBCU but on the bright side you have so many diverse people from everywhere all over the world. yes professors may be from the US, Africa, Asia, etc. The only time i find it trouble to learn is when I don't understand my professors due to their accent. Clark Atlanta University does a great job on this by making sure its students have the tools and necessities they need.

    Greek Life

As with the majority of historically black colleges and universities, Greek life is kind of a big deal at Clark Atlanta University. Probates are heavily attended and talked about for days afterward. Students running for office are always more successful when they have the backing of some Greek organization. And the most popular and legendary parties are those sponsored and/or hosted by a sorority or fraternity. The element of Greek life adds to the excitement of the University.

    Clubs and Activities

Clark Atlanta University is a place for doers. Whether your passion is reading, speaking, performing, language, science or math, there is a club for you. There's never a lack of activity on campus, and the University's 80+ student organizations spread their activity beyond the confines of the campus as well.

Great for these types of students

Outgoing, ambitious students; artistic students (particularly performing artists)

    Food and Dining

Most of the time, the available food options are sufficient, but not delightful. There is, however, the occasional day when you text your friends something along the lines of, get over here- the caf is awesome today! Most students keep one or two of the nearby delivery restaurants on speed dial.

    Dorm Life

There is a range of housing options, from traditional dorms to suite-style dorms to a student housing apartment building. No freshman dorms are co-ed. Dorm pride is promoted all throughout your matriculation at CAU.

    Academic Rigor

Like most other colleges/universities, CAU offers a number of classes that are known for being easy As, as well as a number of classes that are notoriously challenging. But on the whole, I would not rate CAU as an especially challenging institution in the academic sense.

    Tips for prospective students

Remember that a closed mouth does not get fed. From the very beginnin- the acceptance/enrollment process- you will find that you must be a go-getter in order to excell here. Clark Atlanta University gets a lot of mixed reviews. Don't just take someone's word. Look into the criticism or praise given to the Unviersity and see if the alleged problem is something you could live with, or if the positive thing you were told about is of any importance to you.

    In three sentences

Clark Atlanta University is a hub of activity, a great site for networking. It's a bit of an underdog in the Atlanta University Center. It's a university that is on the cutting edge and has a rich, unique history.

The CAU Suites is the best housing for freshmen.

    Academic Rigor

You have to push yourself to make the right grades.

Also come up with a finicial plan and start saving as much as you can, because this school is pricey. Network and become involved once you arrive. Remember that purpose of going to college is to have a career.

    In three sentences

Clark Atlanta University has been a new experience, but has been a great one so far. This school creates a foundation for most students, and it is up to the students to follow this structure. The family bond that the school tries to create is the best part of the school, because it makes one feel like they belong.

Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus

since CAU is an HBCU (historical black college or university) we have a very large traditional Greek life, large traditional marching band, and we take pride in knowing all of our black history, the school's history, and of course keeping God first. CAU is a Methodist Church based school so we have church every Sunday for the students that want to attend.

    What to do for fun

Since Clark is an open campus and we are in downtown Atlanta, there is ALWAYS something to do. we have shuttles to pick up students to go out to the most popular clubs, we have BET come every year for the Black College Tour. we have the hottest DJs and artist come and preform for us. and if going out isn't your thing, then you can always travel downtown and enjoy the museum, art museum, zoo, we have the world's largest aquarium. you can go to see a play or ballet. go to one of the many malls around the metro area, or just relax and read a good book at the school's library or one of the libraries in Atlanta.

The security they do have does their job well but they need more because the school is located in a dangerous area where many things happen. There arent enough of them patrolling if something happens.

    Greek Life

Love the greek life. They are always in competition with one another so its interesting to see what they'll do each week. Great parties too.

    What to do for fun

Get involved on the campus life. Join clubs and different activities.

    Food and Dining

The food in the cafe is great but its once you keep eating the same thing repeatedly is when you get tired of it.

    Dorm Life

Could be upgrade a little more i some off the dorms and the university should allow students to move off campus after freshman year.

    Academic Rigor

The teachers will certainly teach you. You have some that are fast pace and others that take their time and explain. There are a few teachers that Ive ran into that haven't been the best, they don't like to explain and help with troubles. In the end you dont have to worry about you not learning anything at all.

    Tips for prospective students

This a great school for business, mass media, and fashion. They help you find internships and many other things that can help you with your major. The environment around the school isn't the friendliest but the security tries to prevent many things.

    In three sentences

    Campus Safety

Campus safety can be 100% better. There have been at least 10 students mugged on campus at gun point since I've arrived in 2011.

    Greek Life

Greek life is great! There are random step shows all the time, parties, and barbeque's. The greeks at CAU are very active.

    Clubs and Activities

CAU has over 100 clubs and many activities for students. There are clubs to represent where individuals are from, and community service groups. There is something for everyone.

Great for these types of students

Students who party hard but study even harder!

Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus

We have a sacred tradition that involves the surrounding colleges Spelman college and Morehouse college. Everyone is paired up with someone from another school and forced to interact. I admit I did not like it at first but I did make lots of friends.

    Bang for the buck

The administration at CAU does not always want to help. Their customer service is horrible and if an individual calls for help with financial aid I sadly cannot guarantee that he/she will be helped or questions will be answered.

    What to do for fun

There aren't many good things to say about CAU I can say that I have had some good times. There possibilities for fun is almost endless. Atlanta is a fun city and many celebrities come to visit CAU.

    Food and Dining

The food is horrible! The employees are rude and at one time the dining room had a C- as a grade from the health department.

    Dorm Life

The dorms at CAU are very dangerous. I've been at CAU since 2011 and I've heard of at least 10 people being mugged in campus.

    Academic Rigor

None of my classes are too challenging. I would say that my work in college has been just as hard/easy as my high school work.

    Tips for prospective students

I would recommend that he/she apply for as many scholarships as he/she can. I would also recommend that he/she works on time management skills because Atlanta is a very fun place and can become distracting.

    In three sentences

Clark Atlanta University is equivalent to a high school with dorms in campus. It is very dangerous on campus. Lastly CAU is very expensive costing $33,000 a year.

    What to do for fun

Every week there is always something going on, especially when it comes to staying on campus. There is basketball games, strolls, women/men conferences, student counseling, debates, etc. So really you can never say that there is nothing going unless you are just lazy and don't feel like going anywhere.

    Food and Dining

Now the food in the cafeteria is ok at times. Everybody likes different things when it comes to getting a meal everyday. Some days I feel like I'm eating the best meal in the world and other days it's like ewww what am I eating.

    Dorm Life

Omg the dorm life!!! Can you say AWESOME? At first I was real sketchy about living the dorm life. I thought it wasn't going to be for me, but I gave it a shot and I absolutely love it. My room is beautiful, my roommate is very awesome we get along just fine, and I feel very comfortable. The dorm feels like I have my own place, but I'm sharing it with a bunch of girls.

    Academic Rigor

There are teachers who you will understand and there is going to be some you won't be able to comprehend with. So I would ask questions until I fully understood what my teacher was saying. Although the classes are great, some teachers are not going to keep explaining themselves because they feel like you should get it the first time. So i would intend to get a tutor for that certain class you are having trouble with.

    Tips for prospective students

For the future freshmen that will be attending Clark Atlanta University next semester, don't come and expect everything to be handed to you. Play time is over and it is time to get serious, stay focused. Just because you have made it out of high school and in to college that doesn't mean you can just chill and relax. College is a whole new ball game baby so get ready.

    In three sentences

Clark Atlanta University is a great school for future college students to attended. Personally I think that they one of the best business class in the world. The university teaches you about real-life situations and really prepares you for the real world.

    Food and Dining

Dont get me wrong I love me HBCU but the food at Clark Atlanta is disgusting. Being in the south I would have though that the food would actually be good but I thought wrong. The workers I the cafe are nice and great but who ever is cooking needs to go immediately. Being a freshman your required to get the unlimited meal plan which I find is a waste cause by the second month attending here as a freshman I got tired of eating the same food. Some times the food isnÃ?Â?t even cook fully and the staff gets lazy making hot dogs for dinner yuck. Sometimes I wonder if they even taste the food they cook. If you plan on going to Clark make sure stack up on snacks cause the cafe isnÃ?Â?t anything to look forward to.

    Dorm Life

The dorm life at Clark is fairly well. They offer up to date newer buildings to stay in such as the suites, Brawley, and heritage. In the suites a lot of the draws are some crap being that the draws are broke and hard to pull open. Also the gym in the suites sucks badly, better off saying its no gym at all in the suites. Brawley is cool and where I spend most of my time being that it is a one of the only two coed dorms other then heritage. Heritage is the best living quarters to stay in its like having your own apartment. The staff keeps all the buildings clean, when I leave out for my morning classes it smells just like pine-sol.

    Academic Rigor

Classes at Clark are easy. Theirs plenty of tutoring sessions and help to get for classes found around campus so its really no reason to be failing any class. Also the class size ratio at Clark is small and teachers are understanding when turning in late assignments. P.S- Many say classes here and going to school here is just like Highschool

    In three sentences

Clark Atlanta is a great school for prospective students. Even though youÃ?Â?re in college you still feel at home from the southern hospitality and the class ratios makes communicating with you teacher even easier. There are plenty of activities to indulge your-self in around campus. Also there are plenty of tutoring sessions and help offered from the faculty to ensure excellently in your classes. Attending Clark Atlanta you become apart of the AUC ( Clark , Morehouse, Spelman) which makes making friends easier, seeing all the prospective African American students walking to and from class is a amazing sight to see and I recommend this school or any school in the AUC to anyone.

Clubs and organizations are very powerful here. I will love to join some soon.

Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus

    What to do for fun

There are on campus events like hump Wednesday, where students get together and have contests and step shows. Also there are fashion shows, Debates, and etc.

    Food and Dining

Well, i donot have enough money for a meal plan, so i do not eat in the cafeteria, but other than that Wild wings is a pretty great spot to eat, and the usual subway, and etc.

    Dorm Life

Dorm life is terrible. The roomates are very rude, and doesnt care how you feel regarding your sleep schedule, or even study time.

    Academic Rigor

Academics are great. I wish that the teachers cared more about are education. I feel like teachers should get more involved with the students, rather than we chase the teacher down for a question.

    Tips for prospective students

My tips are to get involve with organizations within the school and outside as well. Always use you time wisely, be involve in either studying, or reading. Always talk to your professors so that you will up to date with your current clas status. Eat healthy, and exercise. And always strive for good grades so that you will be able to get scholarships, and extra funding for school.

    In three sentences

Clark Atlanta University is a great school. However, this instituition is very expensive, and it needs more outside funding. This instituiton needs to undergo a drastic change.

    What to do for fun

Well for fun I am currently in the band but i would also like to start dancing because that is surely my life. There is also many clubs to join including clubs from your state so I am a proud member of the Texas Club.

    Food and Dining

The food is not like how I'm used to being fed at home but it will do for my time away from home. Since I am a freshman I am required to be on a meal plan so I get unlimited meals and that's another good thing about eating in the dining area.

    Dorm Life

I currently don't have a room mate so living in a dorm is wonderful. I do wish to have a room mate to talk to when I am having problems but at the same time its okay. Also the living space is a good amount and if I am having any problems the maintenance will be there as soon as possible.

    Academic Rigor

I went to a Magnet school that got me ready for college through the work and much more. So therefore the work isn't as challenging as I thought it would be but it is indeed a challenge.

    Tips for prospective students

Coming from High School it is a big change and make sure you are ready to be away from home and being on your own because you will get tested by many people.

    In three sentences

Clark Atlanta University is a family oriented school. Although I am away from home I still feel as though I am home due to the way I was welcomed with opened arms when I entered the doors.

    Campus Safety

Although campus police try to keep the campus safe, our campus is the only campus in the Atlanta University Center(AUC) that is ungated or closed off. It is open to whomever would like to come onto it. This includes homeless people, drug addicts, lunatics, and anyone else who lives around the area. The school's location is not very inviting.

    Greek Life

Greek life is huge here. The strolling and stepping is probably the best part about the school.

Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus

Sororities and Fraternities are really big here. Campus organizations each take a week and design the school's promenade which is this huge strip in the middle of the entire campus. When it is hot, the promenade is the place to be.

    Bang for the buck

The cost to attend CAU is a lot more than what is worth.

    What to do for fun

Join as many clubs that are fit for you. There are many places in the deep of downtown to go to enjoy yourself. The best time to be a student at CAU is during Homecoming; it is when you will enjoy yourself the most.

    Food and Dining

The food in the cafeteria is not horrible. However, you may end up ordering out a lot because the walk to the cafeteria once you are in your room is not worth it. Also, there are barely any places to eat around the campus.

    Dorm Life

I live in the CAU Suites and pay a lot more than any other dorms to stay here. Although it is the best dorm to stay in of all the other underclassmen dorms, it still has its problems. The visitation rules are crazy, along with the people that are in charge.

    Academic Rigor

Depending on the professors you get, your classes can be extremely easy or extremely challenging. I would say if you are ready for the challenge and want a good academic experience to try joining the Honors Program as I am in. Dr. Jenkins is the director and will definitely take care of you as best as she can.

    Tips for prospective students

Really look into the school before coming, so you know what you are getting into. Hang out with people that will encourage you to do better. Do not come here if all you are hoping for is to see a lot of celebrities because after a while it gets to be old.

    In three sentences

Clark Atlanta University is a very interesting school. If considering going to this school really consider it before attending it so you don't have to go through the transferring process like I am doing now. It is not meant for everyone, but for the people it is meant for they love it.

    Campus Safety

Don't really know too much about them but there are guards at the entrances throughout the day and night. After a certain time you must present your ID when upon the gate or you can't get in.

    Greek Life

There's only the Alpha's and Q's for the guys. I don't know about the ladies because I don't see too much of them. As for as pledging you wouldn't want to do it until your junior year anyway and even then you still might not make it. The Greek life is so so on the campus, sometimes the frats do something but most of the time you barely see them unless it's at a party.

    Bang for the buck

Not really to be honest. This school is not terribly bad, but for 33k it is not that great. There isn't much around the campus besides fast food restaurants and a tiny mall. That's why I'll say once again come visit and ask the PROPER questions before making your decisions.

    What to do for fun

Well the first semester is much more fun then the second. There is an event almost every weekend and as freshman that's how you meet other people and form friendships. A lot of celebrities come to visit or host events so that's another plus. During homecoming week the freshman get to participate in the freshman stroll off and step show in which each dorm will battle each other for bragging rights.

    Food and Dining

The food is pretty much the same thing every week. Their burgers are good but after a while you get tired of them. Every wednesday they serve Fried Chicken, Mac & Cheese, and Collard Greens which everyone loves but besides that it's pretty much the same things.

    Dorm Life

You don't have many options if you are a boy when it comes to dorms. You either stay in Pfeiffer Hall or the CAU Suites. Both are good places to stay in but you don't get visitation outside of the AUC (Atlanta University Center) and your guests have to be out by 11:30.

    Academic Rigor

I really haven't been challenged like I thought I would. I may learn something one day then the next two weeks I learn nothing. Teachers show up late a lot as well as miss numerous class days.

    Tips for prospective students

Definitely come and visit and ask as many questions before making your decision. When you get your award letters and packages it may look all good but it cost over 33k a year. Make sure visit other schools as well so you can have other options.

    In three sentences

Very good business and mass media departments. Depending on the teachers you may learn and you may not. The residence life is not the greatest because the curfew is for 11:30.

There will always be files and posters of activities going on, always shows and competitions, there many different clubs to join, we have a rec room that's located in our student center, and if you just want take a walk we have a very large area to walk as well as walk to check out our neighboring school Morehouse College.

    Food and Dining

The food and dinning at Clark Atlanta University I would say is fine for the most part. Like any school it has its short-comings but over all it has good food and different varieties of food everyday.

    Dorm Life

Dorm life is actually the opposite from T.V and this goes for every school. Dorm life at Clark Atlanta University is an eye-opener, you get to meet new people from all over the United States and already a have a common goal which is graduating from Clark Atlanta University.

    Academic Rigor

Academics at Clark Atlanta University are very serious. The classes tend to be on the difficult side for most students including myself but the reward is worth a little difficulty.

    Tips for prospective students

Be prepared for the long lines in the financial aid building as well as getting your classes. Do everything days or even weeks before the school gives students times and dates to get information or classes.

    In three sentences

I rate Clark Atlanta University at a 8 on a scale of 10. The school is very skilled in subjects in all majors and have some of the best teachers. I love the area and the atmosphere the school contains.

Clark Atlanta University like any other institution is what you make it. In my 6 months of attending I have learned a lot about myself as well as my environment. It can be unorganized at times but overall as a school it is very good and holds true to the 'illustrious' title it is often given.

    Campus Safety

Campus safety is great. They're available to assist students as early as 7:30 AM, although no class begins before 8. They provide escorts around campus for disabled students and have a main line anyone can call at any time during the school day.

Great for these types of students

Students who are friendly and social, as well as students who like to be involved in helping their school would definitely enjoy CAU.

    What to do for fun

There are frequently concerts, presentations, movies, seminars, sports games, rallies, gatherings, and other activities going on around campus. There are daily e-mails to keep you updated on things happening on campus as well.

    Food and Dining

Since I did not live in the dorms, I also can't accurately say how bad or good the food options are; however, the snacks that are available to purchase in the food court Jasmine's are decent.

    Dorm Life

Since I did not live in the dorms, I can't accurately say how bad or good they are.

    Academic Rigor

The work can be difficult, but it can also be enjoyable if you commit the right amount of time to it. Attendance is very important. In certain classes, missing one day could be the reason you fall behind for most of a semester.

    Tips for prospective students

I think It would be wise to keep the contact information of as many instructors and staff around the school as possible because if they recognize you and know what you need there is a lot more they can do to assist you.

    In three sentences

CAU is ideal for a student who is looking for the full college experience. All of the buildings are conveniently located and the staff members are helpful. The coursework is manageable and tutors are almost always available.

    What to do for fun

The first thing I would recommend for a student to do for fun is to get as active as possible on campus. Being involved not only helps your social status and allows you to network with new people, but it also gives you a sense of leadership---something more than too many lack now-a-days. But other than that, find what you're good at (dancing, singing, acting, etc.) and use that to your advantage by doing something with it like joining a team in the community that focuses on what it is that's your passion.

    Food and Dining

The cafe food is something I wouldn't recommend you pay for because it's satisfaction is seldom. But luckily, being that Clark Atlanta University was placed in the core of Atlanta, you will find a lot of nice dining and fast food spots. My favorite would have to be Busy Bee's which is located right around the corner, 5 minute walking distance from campus. The food is delicious and the prices are reasonable.

    Dorm Life

I do feel that with the amount of tuition being paid that the dorms should have been renovated. They are not in poor shape, they're just not reaching the level you would expect in comparison to other campus living that pays either the same amount or even less! Dorm life would probably be on top of my to-do list if I were in charge because the students deserve better.

    Academic Rigor

Education is important at Clark Atlanta University. The procedure they take with handling academics I find to be pretty reasonable. If you reach a certain low GPA, they put you on probation, assign you an advisor and if things don't improve, you are kicked out so you're not wasting your time, the school's time or your parent's money.

    Tips for prospective students

Come in with a positive attitude. Know, like at any other college, you are coming here for one thing only---pursuit of an education---so don't get distracted and don't put your classes on a back burner. It is imperative that you know how to prioritize your time and make wise decisions because there is always something entertaining going on on campus, so keep your focus on the goals at hand.

    In three sentences

Clark Atlanta University is a congregation of African American students who have all come together with one goal in mind---to succeed. This university provides students with a wide selection of opportunities to better themselves. From the President to the faculty and staff, it is illustrated through their actions on how passionate they are to make sure we reach our goals throughout our matriculation.

    Campus Safety

There is always public safety around, however Clark Atlanta isn't located in Mr. Roger's neighborhood. Just be aware of your surroundings, just as on any campus in a major city.

    Greek Life

I didn't pledge, but it is very important at HBCU'S. Clark Atlanta is big on that. Make sure you pledge for the right reasons, and do your research.

    Clubs and Activities

Lots of clubs and there is always something going on.

Great for these types of students

Students are from all over, they come from different cities both small and big, get ready to adjust to lots of geographical diversity. This school is also quite big on Greek Life. They are everywhere.

    Bang for the buck

The people you meet in college may be your long-time friends or spouses forever. There is plenty activity to network at this University take advantage of that and not just for professional reasons, meet people that might change your life in the future.

    What to do for fun

GET OFF CAMPUS. Atlanta houses some the most beautiful campuses, make sure you get the chance to make friends and visit all of them around the city. Atlanta is also the city of music and food, venture into the city as much as you can.

    Food and Dining

Meal plans are also expensive, but the food is pretty good. There is a cafe and fast-food restaurant on campus.

    Dorm Life

Living on campus is extremely expensive and you don't get your moneys worth when it comes to living conditions.

    Academic Rigor

One thing about academics at Clark, there are some dedicated professors and great professional courses.

    Tips for prospective students

Don't just attend Clark because of reputation and location. Make sure this is a place you want to be. Do your research, talk to people, visit and FIND AS MUCH funds as you can. Clark Atlanta University is very expensive, and it is a private school. This could be the most important and most expensive investment of your life.

Clark Atlanta is a good school. Historically black college.Professors are dedicated. Very hard to get funding.

    Greek Life

Greek Life is heavy at CAU, we just had more greeks cross, its fun to watch and meet the greeks.

    Clubs and Activities

There are clubs for EVERYONE, we have so many clubs too many to name. We have traditional clubs and we have ones that can only be found at CAU.

Great for these types of students

Students who want to attend a Historically Black College or University. Students who love the city and love to have fun. Though its not something we want to be known for it must be stated that we are a party school but we have some the most hard working students at CAU. So if you like to party but also want a good classroom experience this is for you.

Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus

Every Labor day weekend Ludacris does a big concert on the promenade and a celebrity basketball game that same weekend. We have sacred grass that no one is allowed to walk on unless for induction. We aren't just one school but our brother and sister school, Morehouse and Spelman, is right next door and together we all make up the Atlanta University Center.

    Bang for the buck

Though tuition is continuously rising, I love my institution and I think the money I pay is okay.

    What to do for fun

Its Atlanta there is something to do every weekend, every day, its a hard chance that you will end up bored, UNLESS, you don't have transportation.

    Food and Dining

The CAFE is okay, its good the first few months and then it just becomes a hassle. Its nice to have a meal plan though so you can grab food when you choose. The Den has other variety of food available as well. The best food is found on the promenade.

    Dorm Life

The actual dorms are nice, more of them are being renovated. However after you're a freshman, you expect to be treated as an adult and they haven't quite grasped that aspect. We're still told who can come over and what time they're allowed, there are random dorm checks, etc.

    Academic Rigor

It's challenging but there are so many advantages that will help students do the best they can. Since the classes are smaller it gives students a better opportunity to receive help from Professors.

    Tips for prospective students

Don't believe the stereotypes about CAU or Spelman or Morehouse. Be yourself at all times, change for no one. Take the classes seriously and be a good representation of an HBCU student.

Campus can get pretty rowdy at times, and in a not so quite area of the city, so to make sure that we are protected CAU, Morehouse, and Spelman public safety patrol on the regular. Atlanta Police Department also patrols around the outskirts of campus for extra security.

    Greek Life

Greeks are very present on campus, the divine 9 are also doing some community service to help out the surrounding community or hyping up the students for different events on campus.

    Clubs and Activities

So many different clubs and activities to choose from, there is something for everyone: from Student Government to Kollege Kids and even Reading in random places, there are clubs for EVERY prospective student.

Great for these types of students

    Achievers, Believers, Go-getters

Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus

Operation Olive Branch: A big gathering conference and party for ALL of the incoming freshman to support unity between the AUC (Atlanta University Center: Clark Atlanta, Morehouse and Spelman).

    Bang for the buck

There's NO place in the world like Clark Atlanta .. It is a veryyy expensive school and sometimes you will question your place but if you want to learn more about yourself then you ever known, while still having fun and achieving greatness this is the University for you !!

    What to do for fun

Campus is always alive and buzzing with something to do. From Hump Wednesday's which is a block party thrown by Morehouse, to Market Thursday's where vendors come out to sell their products. The weekends are always offer extend endless possibilities with different parties and events to attend, it never gets old !

    Food and Dining

On CAU campus you are offered three different places to eat: Krogman Cafe, W.O.W wings, and Jazzman's Cafe. The cafe offers a pretty decent selection for incoming students with a meal plan (fried chicken Wednesdays) is one day that happens to be the best day in the cafe. WOW can also be used if you have a meal plan or are do not, the food is a little pricey (for students like me without a meal plan), but it will suffice. Jazzman's is also a popular cafe in which many students go in between classes to have breakfast, a mid day snack or a famous smoothie.

    Dorm Life

Dorm Life is fun, but strict at the same time. Freshman year and having being required to live on campus is an easy way to stay connected and meet/make great friends. Dorm step competitions offers a friendly rivalry between dormitories and events that takes place during homecoming week. The dorms are also very strict on visitation and sometimes the rules are annoying to adhere to.

    Academic Rigor

Clark Atlanta offers many challenging courses and it is very demanding depending on professors and majors. As with every college/university there are those professors considered easy A's, but it's your decision and your parents money. We are also offered cross registration which provides students with the option to take courses at Spelman College. Morehouse College and in some cases Georgia State University.

    Tips for prospective students

Have your game face on when coming into Clark Atlanta University, there are many opportunities for internships and many networking connections. As with any college/university it is easy to get side tracked with all the campus activities, but there is always time for fun when your finished handling important business.

    In three sentences

A very spirited, politically orientated school, where students strive to achieve greatness and will not stop at anything. The students live up to our find a way or make one motto and continually master challenges while still maintaining good grades and having a great time.

    Food and Dining

I hate and love the food. Vegetarian meals are horrible but the other food is good though

    Dorm Life

    Academic Rigor

The academics in most of my classes could have been better but I will not complain you have really good teachers at CAU and then their are the ones who just do not need to be employed. Just saying

    Tips for prospective students

be focused, focused, focused. they say Clark Atlanta is a party school and I must say that is not true you will meet people who party but have 4.0 gpas the worst thing is for you to party with your friends and you have 2.0 and you expect your friends to have the same and they have straight A's. I was the smart student barely partied... Make friends as much as you an it will be almost detrimental because everyone is different in their own ways. Also, avoid drama, drama, drama your incoming there is no time to make any enemies because believe it or not you may need them one day vice versa, study I mean really study do not procrastinate and most of all College is not hard, do not doubt yourself it depends on your work ethic if you do bs work you will receive bs grades point blank.

It is said that they Clark Atlanta University tradition is that any student that walk on that area will not graduate!

    Campus Safety

Because CAU is an open campus, CAU campus safety is not the best. With that being said it is very important for one to be aware of their surroundings at all times and never go anywhere alone.

    Greek Life

Of course Greek life is HUGE on campus! It is something that is a big deal to tons of people but not the only way one can identify themselves on campus.

    Clubs and Activities

There are so many clubs and activities on campus that I cannot even name them all! Let's just say no matter what type of person one may be there is a club for that!

Great for these types of students

Anyone that has ambition to be something in life, anyone who plans on making a difference in this world, or anyone who desires greatness hands down belong at CLARK ATLANTA UNIVERSITY.

Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus

At Clark in the freshman quads everyone meets at a random hour and plays tag all night!

    Bang for the buck

Since Clark is in between Spelman and Morehouse and we all share the same library celebrating unity between all three universities is an amazing experience! CAU is just an amazing place to attend and most importantly to grow as an individual!

    What to do for fun

If you're bored at CAU it's because you are sleeping! Not only is there always something to do on campus such as going to seminars, barbeques, fashion shows, pageants, poetry nights, going to the basketball and football games, meeting celebs, or parties, IT'S ATLANTA!!

    Food and Dining

Fried chicken Wednesdays are the best days at CAU! Everyone no matter how old or what grade ones in are all in the cafe dying to get a piece of that chicken! CAU'S food in general is good. The only thing thats sucks about it is it repeats itself a lot which makes it really easy to get sick of.

    Dorm Life

Traditional Dorms at CAU are very small but truly unforgettable. You become apart of a sisterhood or brotherhood with those who stayed there with you. CAU suites which are larger have more utilities inside the room such as a refrigerator and microwave. Dorm life can either be an amazing experience or a horrible one. It all depends on how you are as a person and how your roommate is.

    Academic Rigor

To be honest, CAU classes aren't that hard to pass.Being focus, committed to the work, and consitent with giving your all will easily give you good grades!

    Tips for prospective students

My advise for prospective students is simple, never loose focus on why your at that institution and always know that someone important is watching!

    In three sentences

Clark Atlanta University on a scale of 1 to 5 is an amazing 4. CAU is a college that expects nothing but productivity and progression in their students but lacks organization. What I love the most about my institution is all of the possible opportunities there are and the amount of history within the university!

CAU police respond to all emergency calls on campus. They also drive around campus daily. They take their work very seriously so do not prank call. They also can pick you up and drop you off at your dorm if you are close by campus. If you are a student and you are away from campus and something bad occurs it is best to call the Atlanta police school police respond quickly to school emergencies quicker than off-campus.

    Greek Life

Greeks tend to dominate the school. Some people do not like it while others are indifferent to it. They have plenty of parties year round as well as pageants.

    Clubs and Activities

There are plenty of clubs on or around campus, you just have to network, ask questions, and get involved.

Great for these types of students

If you like a more close-knit campus with a small student to teacher ratio this is the school for you.

Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus

Because this is a historically black college that embraces Christianity. We have church every Sunday. It is not mandatory to come but its a great way to stay grounded and empowered. Often we do alternate and have church at other institutions church such as Spelman College and Morehouse College. Hump Wednesday is another tradition where all the Greeks come out and stroll. There are other traditions you will find should you enroll at this institution.

    Bang for the buck

There are eateries, barbers, beauticians, and other stores outside the campus that offer student discounts. The discount is not much but its better than nothing.

    What to do for fun

There are plenty of things to do for fun if you are active and involved in clubs, student government, sports, pageants, parties, etc. We do have celebrity visits. There's always something to do. The best thing would be to get to know other students from other private institutions in the AUC, Atlanta University Center. Clark Atlanta University, Spelman College, Morehouse College, and ITT make up the AUC. Some students can be very bias and judgemental towards other institutions in the AUC. This is petty, you are in college to expand your mind, grow, and serve the community.

    Food and Dining

The food is not of the best quality. But it is the best in the AUC, Atlanta University Center. Breakfast is the worst of all meals other than late night. The food choice is often limited.

    Dorm Life

Each dorm has there own step team. Freshmen dorms are located closer to classes and administrative buildings while upperclassmen are located further away. All dorms are bland and depending on which dorm you choose to reside in you may have to clean your own restroom, this is typically for upperclassmen. Freshmen dorms have one bathroom for each floor, meaning you will be sharing showers, sinks, etc with the entire floor. None of the dorms have curfews, however, every dorm has Resident Assistants, RAs, that are students who monitor to ensure everything is running smoothly. Often visitation is taken away due to constant violations. All dorms are safe, campus police drive around the entire campus regularly.

    Academic Rigor

It all depends on your major and the professor you register for. I've encountered one class that required me to constantly work. I can honestly say that my high school courses were more challenging than the basic courses such as math, science, etc.

    Tips for prospective students

I would strongly advise all students to ensure that they are financially enrolled or have other means to pay for school IE outside scholarships, grants, or loans before making the decision to enroll as a student. The school has limited funds and many of the staff members working in student accounts and financial aid can be quite dismissive. Also, keep in mind that this is a relatively small college where everyone knows everyone. To all prospective students please remain focused and know why your attending college. If you have any concerns about a grade our a class talk to your professor BEFORE midterms and finals grades are posted. They are there to assist YOU.

    In three sentences

Clark Atlanta University, CAU, is a private historically black university. However, before this university was established, there was Clark College, founded in 1869, and Atlanta University, founded in 1865. These were the parent institutions that merged together in 1988 giving this institution the name it has today.

There are clubs representing where people are from, volunteer based, spoken word, performing arts, based on majors, etc.

Great for these types of students

Hard working, determined, open minded, proactive.

Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus

You have to experience our traditions for yourself to understand their significance. One of best is the last New Student Orientation when you are paired up with a Morehouse student and Spelman student who then become your Morehouse Brother and Spelman Sister. Then there is the big party we had on the football field called Olive Branch. Initiation into your freshman dorm, induction into the school, and many more.

    What to do for fun

CAU is the definition of FUN!! There is Hump Wednesdays when freshman dorms step/stroll teams and Greek life will give a show and there will be music. Market Thursdays when the promenade becomes big flea market. When it's warm different organizations throw BBQ's and block parties on the promenade. I also visit the neighboring institutions Spelman College and Morehouse College when they have events.

    Food and Dining

Fried Chicken Wednesday is pretty good. I personally didn't my meal plan often. When they have a theme for menu that day it is pretty good.

    Dorm Life

Being a Freshmen at CAU living in the different dorms is nothing but fun. I lived in Holmes Hall where I met my best friends who I now see as my sisters. There are 3 all girl freshman dorms 1 all guys freshman dorm the CAU suites, and then upperclassmen dorms. This Fall 2012 semester I will be living in Brawely Hall and upperclassmen dorm which has full kitchens and private bathrooms in your room for you and your roommate.

    Academic Rigor

As a biology major you are always kept on your toes. The professors challenge you everyday but they also offer help when you need it. After my first semester many of my peers switched majors because they were not dedicated to being a science major. Pick your major based on your work ethic and how serious you are about life.

    Tips for prospective students

Come to CAU prepared to work hard. We live my our school motto Find a Way or Make One and Culture to Service. We are part of the AUC which includes Spelman, Morehouse, Morris Brown, and ourselves CAU. We are a big family and support each other in everything we do. Academics always come first. DO NOT WAIT LAST MINUTE TO DO THINGS!! YOUR NOT IN HIGH SCHOOL ANYMORE!!

    In three sentences

Clark Atlanta University is an illustrious institution that strives to help its students reach their goals and beyond. It offers the perfect balance between academic life and social life for its students. It is a home away from home.

    Campus Safety

Clark Atlanta University has got to be the safest campuses I know of with new security updated every semester. Outsiders have a hard time trying to get around without an I.D. card.

    What to do for fun

I can't spoil it for the Atlanta natives and the out-of-towners. As mentioned earlier, there's something to do everyday.

    Food and Dining

The cafeteria food is something I can't sugar coat about. After the first month, you get completely used to it and almost disgusted BUT the nostalgia of it after you experienced Caf Life is irreplaceable. You grow to miss it once you leave after a period of time.

    Dorm Life

For the up and coming freshman, the dorms are a great experience. It should be something you've never experienced before so definitely go for it. You might find yourself outside of your dorm majority of the time anyway at this university. To the older, more mature audience, the local apartments are definitely for you but I won't spoil the whys.

    Academic Rigor

To the dedicated, hard working student, the work that is given can be handled very easily and the professors help every step of the way. This could be a breeze all the way to graduation filled with fun and memories. Just remember to STAY ON TOP OF YOUR WORK. If handled immediately, it won't pile up and hurt you later.

    Tips for prospective students

It would be in your best interest to find another campus if you're the type to party and not take care of your business afterwards or before-hand. Being in the heart of Atlanta, it's easy to get caught up in the lime-light and nightlife. Celebrities come to campus once a week and there's something going on everyday. The tests either make or break you and the rewards of hard-work are similar to gifts from the Gods in an exaggerated sense.

    In three sentences

Clark Atlanta University is a school designed specifically for those who come with determination and a drive for a degree. The expensive amount to attend in combination with the delightful, welcoming atmosphere makes the pay worth the matriculation. Some of my favorite life learned lessons were taught on this campus.

Most importantly have fun, because you can be so caught up in your studies to the point of missing out on what the college experience can be.

    Greek Life

Greek life is much more than just a brotherhood or a sisterhood. As freshman you are required to community service hours. And myself I completed most of my community service with a fraternity or a sorority. Through different activities, for example: sleeping with the homeless, the toy drive, and the aids walk.

    What to do for fun

There is always an even going on in the student center, if not on the promenade. Clark Atlanta is a place where you can learn, but they offer plenty of fun activities, to make learning enjoyable.

Campus safety is great. The school has Clark Atlanta Police throughout the campus. There are also call boxes throughout the campus that students can press if they feel unsafe and an officer will be there in approximately 30 seconds. The CAU Police also have a policy that students can call them if they're off campus and feel unsafe; an officer will arrive and take the student wherever the student asks.

Along with Clark Atlanta being the oldest and newest Historically Black College University, it has been featured on many movies and shows such as Drumline, Stop The Yard, BET'S The Game, and Necessary Roughness. The institution also houses W.E.B. Dubois' typewriter in Thayer Hall.

    Bang for the buck

I have yet to meet a student at the school that thinks the school's value doesn't match its cost. Yes Clark Atlanta is on the pricey side since it's a private institution, but I believe that the school is worth it. I would say it's up to the student to make the most out of the experience and truly get the most out of the school.

    What to do for fun

Being that the school is located in downtown Atlanta, there is so much to do. Students can go shopping at the Underground, Lenox Mall, and Atlantic Station. On campus, students can participate in the talent shows, residential hall step-shows, sporting events, concerts, Greek life, and a plethora of other activities.

    Food and Dining

I love the food at Clark. At orientation a few others complained about it, but every meal I had was delicious. There are a variety of food stations each serving different meals each day. There are also other eating areas throughout the campus for the days when students don't want food from the cafe.

    Dorm Life

Dorm life is decent at Clark. There are certain halls that are nicer than others such as CAU Suites and Heritage Commons, but all of the dorms are nice. When deciding on where to stay, consider how you feel on sharing bathrooms and having your own bedroom area.

    Academic Rigor

Rigor is what you make of it. As a member of the honor's program at the school my coursework is more on the challenging side, but not impossible. This institution wants all of its students to strive for excellence thus the coursework is a reflection of that.

    Tips for prospective students

Stay focused on your school work. Yes enjoy the vast clubs and organizations available to you but remember the main reason you're at school: education. It is also important to maintain balance meaning be serious about your studies but also enjoy all the campus has to offer.

    In three sentences

On a scale of 1-10, I rate Clark Atlanta University at 10 because of the family environment. From the professors, staff, and orientation guides, everyone does their best to make you feel a part of the family. Greek Life is huge on campus. You see it everywhere and all the time, but you cannot get tired of it. It always was full of excitement and energy. You would be walking to class and see those jackets and bags and wish to be part of it. At CAU you never know when someone is going to start stepping, putting on a show, or screaming and chanting. It's so entertaining.

Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus

Every year for the freshman class goes through the Clark Atlanta University Experience. This gives freshman class the opportunity to learn about the school history, student life, and programs. Also freshman go through the induction ceremony. This event is decades of tradition ever since CAU was opened to educate. Freshman women wore all white(either a dress or skirt and top) and the freshman boys wore navy blue suits. During this event the president, our student government association , and others all welcome the freshman class into CAU's family. After being welcomed into the family we all joined together to a candle lighting ceremony where we sung and came together. After that ceremony we were then considered CAU Panthers(the mascot).

    What to do for fun

Clark Atlanta campus is full of history. As most know Atlanta was one of the cities that hosted the Olympics, and as a treat to the students of CAU we were given academic buildings and rooms, but one of the memorable spots, was the promenade. The promenade was a all night strip on campus that gave students the ultimate hang out spot. It has benches and plenty of space to hang out, dance, put on events and performances, etc. It's open all night and plenty space. We also hold a series of interactive events where students can sit in on, interact with, and participate in. Everyday. There is never a dull moment on campus.

    Food and Dining

The food on campus was okay. The cafeteria food was cooked by chefs and a few students. We had a variety of types of food from vegitarian, American, International and a salad bar. However after eating that food for a few months, you slowly start to crave that home cooked meal. The food at school became a repetition. On the contrany, there were many substitutes around campus that took you away from the cafeteria food all the time. We even had a late night cafeteria run with different food than during the day, this gave students who were still hungry or missed the dinner time to get their late night grub. One thing I did enjoy about the dining area was that we got exposed to student life. Meaning fraternities and sororites, student organizations, notices, events, etc. That I must say will always be with me.

    Dorm Life

Dorm life is amazing it gives you a chance to interact with other students, RAs, and security. Living on campus and in a dorm room, you get to experience independence first hand. You're 100% on your own and without your parents. My first year in an on campus dorm was full of excitement and being educated. I had to learn to cook for myself, do my laundry, and becoming social. My roommates and I played games and pranks, interactd with other girls. Me and my roommates did everything together and are now really good friends. Also, the beauty of staying on campus at CAU, I got introduced to our institution's freshman dorm step teams. These were step teams of freshman students from every freshman dorm on campus and students would form step team routines and during our homecoming week there was a freshman dorm step show. So overall living on campus my first year was exciting and so much fun!

    Academic Rigor

At Clark Atlanta University, academics are strongly enforced. The fact that my institution is an Historical Black College and University, we have to work and over achieve so much harder than Predominantly White Institutions. Our students strives for success and well being as a educated black community.

    Tips for prospective students

If you have ideas or want to do something on campus do it. You have the power and the resources to do whatever you want do not stop or quit because you are afraid of other peoples opinions. Also, College is not only full of academics and scholastic, but it is also full of fun distractions. There will be moment you want to put the work down to have fun, but it eventually comes right back to catch up with you. Be careful and think smart. College will always be there but your academics won't.

    In three sentences

Clark Atlanta University is the perfect representation of a Historical Black College and University. The student life on campus is the replica of excitement, pride, and inheritance. Our academic status is strong and never ending.

There is limited visitation but the suites are nice. Other dorms besides the suites I've heard are not very good.

    Academic Rigor

So far, the classes are very easy but the teachers are not professional at all.

    Tips for prospective students

If you do decide to attend Clark Atlanta please have a scholarship or a way to pay for it because taking out loans for thousands of dollars is not worth it each semester.

    In three sentences

Clark Atlanta is a great school if you are looking to find more about the African American culture as I did. Although the culture and experience is unique and you will never find it at any other college, the expenses are not worth it. Clark Atlanta is extremely over priced and is not worth it at all.

    What to do for fun

Okay, I'm not one to tell you the fun stuff on the side because we have to focus on our studies. But, if I were to mention what there is to do for fun, I would say there are parties every week thrown by fellow students of the university. And as a bonus, Clark provides shuttle rides to and from these parties that run all night! Not a clubbing type of person? That is fine. You can take the train to Atlantic Station and enjoy a movie or do some shopping along the strip.

    Food and Dining

Being only a train ride from downtown Atlanta, students of Clark are open to all of the restaurants that the downtown has to offer. But, if you don't feel up to the city, Clark has a 15 hour cafeteria that has all your favorite foods buffet style. Just swipe your card and eat till your hearts content. Not up to the Caf either? There is a restaurant right next door that also has a variety of chooses ranging from burgers, to fried pickles, salads and wraps.

    Dorm Life

Dorm life gets four stars because the people you stay with will make your experience. These group of girls or boys will soon become your dorm family. The RA's of the dorms provide mixers and parties for the people who live there. By the end of your year, you will have made some of the best friends you can have and they live right under your nose.

    Academic Rigor

I give the dorms three stars because it depends where you stay. Clark has a variety of dorms that range from the standard shared room with two beds, two desks, and two closets to the two and four bedroom apartments that are mostly reserved for the upperclassmen. However, if you have the money for it, you will be able to find a way.

    Tips for prospective students

To the recent high school graduates looking at this school, I advice you to start saving money now before the summer actually begins; you will need all the money you can get. And get to know where the Financial Aid building is because you will be making weekly trips there. Another thing, is you will be open to a lot of opportunities on and off the campus, take advantage of those.

    In three sentences

At Clark, the day goes by fast. You will be able to travel wherever and whenever you want. The history is rich and very much alive.

    What to do for fun

For fun, one may walk to the park down the street from CAU, or even join organization at Clark Atlanta, Spelman, or even Morehouse. Students from all three institutions are allowed to join organizations on all three campuses. Also, the dining in the Atlanta area is perfect! Great for the college student budget because many restaurants to agree to a student discount.

    Food and Dining

The cafe serves edible food, but make sure you get there fast on Wednesday because everyone loves Fried Chicken Wednesday! Breakfast was my favorite time to go. Wow Cafe is also apart of our cafe.Clark Atlanta University is made for students with big personalities. We have a strip called the Promenade that serves at a cat walk every morning for students to strut their stuff on their way to class! NO, seriously!

    Dorm Life

My freshman year in 2010, I lived in the Suites. Suite Life was definitely sweet! But one must not forget that CAU is in the downtown area, so be careful at night! The upperclassmen live in Brawley dorm, which has to be awesome living with all of your friends.

    Academic Rigor

I am a Biology major and I am doing fairly well. While my classes are not too difficult, the RISE Program here at CAU offers tutoring from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM for all subjects. RISE is ran by students who tutor for work study. General majors need 122 hours to graduate, making CAU a four year university. There is a five year Master's program, but one must enter with a high GPA to be considered.CAU is definitely a BANG for you BUCK being that tuition is $10,000 per semester alone, this does not include housing or any fees. Therefore, scholarships, grants, and loans will definitely be needed. The campuses level of safety is really low but I believe that the campus is working on it.

    Tips for prospective students

Prospective students, please know that when it comes to CAU one must be very precise and on time! If you take forever to complete your financial aid, they will take even longer to process it. Don't be a lazy student because professors and staff note things like that.

    In three sentences

Clark Atlanta University is truly and astounding Historically Black University who offers many opportunities for all of it's students. CAU is in the middle of the Atlanta Downtown area therefore there are many companies who reach out to the university for students to have first dibs on entry level job openings. In all, CAU is my family away from home and I am so happy I decided to come here.

In the Carl and Mary Ware Academic Center, there is Jazzman's Cafe and Bakery. They are the best! They have baked goods, as well as smoothies, shakes, etc. The cafeteria is known for Fried Chicken Wednesdays and Fried Fish Fridays, both are equally great!

    Dorm Life

The dorm life is pretty cool. Everyone has different experiences. You have your choice of the traditional dorms (the most expensive because they are on campus) as well as the CAU Suites and Heritage Commons, which are literally right up the street from the campus (around the corner from the promenade). All dorms have Central Air and provide amenities such as electricity and cable TV all included in the

It is important to maintain a satisfactory GPA in order to stay in good-standing with the school. Ask for help if you need help, put studying before partying. School is as hard as you make it.

    Tips for prospective students

Tips I would give to a prospective student is to make sure you complete all required documents before the nearing of deadlines. Stay on top of everything insuring that you will have a smooth time getting fully admitted.

    In three sentences

I recently got admitted into Clark Atlanta University and I must say I am very satisfied with my decision. The staff member are attentive and strive to make sure you are set for success. The students there are friendly and make you feel wanted and comfortable. I am looking forward for the great experiences at Clark that awaits me.

    What to do for fun

very fun during homecoming and the end of spring semester.

    Food and Dining

the cafeteria is horrid except on wednesdays.

    Dorm Life

it's what you make of it. try to live in the suites but only if you can afford it.

    Academic Rigor

Depending on the student and professor, you can do great or horrible. Always do research on professors before taking their class.

    Tips for prospective students

Visit the campus prior to attending. Consider the cold weather if you're from a warm place. Be mindful of expensive housing.

    In three sentences

Do your work and you will succeed. Networking is very important here. Administration is a bit unorganized.

    Campus Safety

There are always public safety officers around campus especially nearest the college dorms, but campus safety could improve a bit more. since last year, there have been less cases of students reported in danger from outside parties, however, it is possible that campus police could definitely be more aware of the safety of the students on campus. Out of 5 stars, I would give the campus safety a 3 out of 5.

    Greek Life

Greek life is something I , myself would love to participate in. The Greeks at Clark Atlanta are always fun to be around, definitely make campus life that much more fun to be apart of, and they also give back to those less fortunate which is always good.

    Clubs and Activities

Clark Atlanta offers just about any club and activity one could think of. There are clubs for just about all majors, and the University offers clubs such as Toast Masters for those who wish to become better at public speaking.

Great for these types of students

This University is great for any student looking to become a better student and person, further their education in their field of interest, and especially for students that are willing to put in hard work to be successful.

Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus

One tradition of the University that is always fun, is the induction ceremony for incoming freshman. These freshman dress in all white and are present for a ceremony for them to be official Clark Atlanta University panthers.

    Bang for the buck

This University is definitely expensive and I have heard people say that they don't believe they're getting the bang for their buck at Clark Atlanta, however I would have to disagree. College anywhere is expensive, and many people don't believe they're getting the bang for their buck because they're not taking advantage of their resources. Clark Atlanta has so much to offer their students to help them succeed, however it's up to the students attending the University to seek help themselves and use their resources. Out of 5 stars, I'd give Bang for the Buck at Clark Atlanta University, a solid 4 out of 5 stars.

    What to do for fun

Not only is there a lot to do on campus just about everyday from volunteering, social gatherings, meet and greets, and so much more, because this college campus is located only about 5-10 minutes away from the downtown area of Atlanta, there's also always a number of things to do outside of campus.

    Food and Dining

Although the food at Clark Atlanta isn't horrible, the people in charge of preparing the food always make sure their is lots of variety on the menu from day to day. I definitely recommend eating the cafeteria food in moderation, but there are a variety of choices to choose from. There is always a salad bar, a burger grill, and and ala carte sections for students to select from. The dessert bar offers cookies, cobblers, cakes, and ice creams, and there is always an assortments of beverages to choose from.

    Dorm Life

For the most part, dorm life is pretty nice. The rules within the dorms aren't to strict, however, one must abide by the rules to avoid problems. As long as one follows the rules enforced by each dorm facility, everything should be fine. If you are a person that doesn't do well with simple rules, perhaps living in the dorms at Clark Atlanta is the right option for you and you can instead move to a place nearby campus.

    Academic Rigor

Some majors are definitely more difficult than others, however Clark Atlanta is passionate about their students succeeding. The professors always challenge their students because they want them to grow--as all professors should, and this definitely does help students grow mentally. Professors are very passionate about what they do, and you can tell by the way they teach. They also have great command over the subject they're teaching, and know what they are talking about.

    Tips for prospective students

Always stay on top of your work, never procrastinate because things can become difficult if one does not take the time to focus on their work, and most importantly, make the most of your time as a student at this great University because it really does have a lot o offer.

    In three sentences

Clark Atlanta University is a great academic University that allows students to blossom socially and mentally. They offer a great amount of help to their students with tutoring and professors are almost always available. This University is outstanding.

    Food and Dining

There not many choices, but Fried Chicken Wednesday is the best part about Hump Day at CAU.

    Dorm Life

Since I'm in the Honors Program, I was blessed with the opportunity to live in the upperclassman dorm hall James P. Brawley Hall. Even though it is nice to have my own living room, kitchen, and private room with a lock on it, there are many maintenance issues. Also, visitation is very unreasonable. Our own parents have a curfew.

    Academic Rigor

I am in the Inaugural class of the Isabella Taylor Jenkins Honors Program at Clark Atlanta University and being that I am an honors student, I feel like that I am being challenged academically, but this is nothing I have not seen before. Clark Atlanta University definitely prepares the students for their areas of focus.

    In three sentences

Clark Atlanta University is swollen with opportunities for students in many areas of study including Mass Media Arts, Accounting, and Life Sciences. Although, the on campus food choices are slim, the spirit of Panther Pride fills the Atlanta University Center. The average CAU student is anything but average thanks to the caring faculty and staff.

    Campus Safety

There is campus safety everywhere, and there are campus police 24/7. The chief of Clark police is very protective over the students and is literally only a phone call away.

    Greek Life

I'm keeping this part short and simple. There are greek members everywhere. Some of them wear their paraphernalia all the time and then some do not. During homecoming week or during their founders week you will be able to clearly identify who they are simply by them strolling or by them actually wearing their greek paraphernalia.

    Clubs and Activities

There are more than a handful amount of organizations to join on campus.

Great for these types of students

If you are someone who is use to things going at a fast paste then Clark Atlanta is for you. things change fast, and professors teach fast.

Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus

One of the traditions on campus is to never step on the sacred grass which is the area that separates Clark Atlanta and Morehouse. It is said that if you walk on the sacred grass then you will not graduate on time with your original graduating class.

    Bang for the buck

It actually depends on how you look at things. Yes the tuition is a lot of money but it all depends on what you make of your experience at the university.

    What to do for fun

There are plenty of things to do for fun, I mean Clark Atlanta University is in Atlanta. Whether it be on campus or off campus you will never run out of things to do. There are many things to do on campus alone when there are events going on which is usually at least once a week. Then if you feel like venturing off of campus there is the Georgia Aquarium, The World of Coca-Cola, Atlanta Zoo and the list goes on and on. You can go shopping at Lenox mall and run into any celebrity you can think of. The night life in Atlanta is also fun, and once again there are plenty of things or places for you to go to. So you will never get bored.

    Food and Dining

The dinning hall has multiple time frames which comes in hand when you are trying to eat in between classes. If you have classes all day and think that you have missed the cafe no worries because there is a late night dinner service. Inside the cafe there are different stations so if you aren't very sure what you have the taste for when you walk in I am pretty sure you will know once you have walked in and looked at the food. Every Wednesday there is Fried Chicken Wednesdays and on Fridays there are Fried Fish Fridays. But if you are a healthy eater they have food to accommodate your eating habits.

    Dorm Life

On campus we have different forms of dorms. We have traditional which is the usual two beds in the same room and you have a community bathroom where you share with the girls on that floor. We also have non traditional dorms where you can have your own space but you have an actual wall separating you and your room mate and then you share a bathroom with either one or three other girls. In this dorm you have a little kitchen area and a sink area and a bigger closet space then in a traditional dorm. Then for upperclassmen dorms they have their own room but they share a bathroom and a kitchen with three to four other people. There is visitation which is between the times of 6-11:30 pm. The only time that there is not visitation is when there are midterms or finals.

    Academic Rigor

If you fall below a 2.0 you are put onto academic probation. There are some professors that will work with you when it comes to doing work but then you also have professors that are very old school and will not give as many chances. Many classes are only 50 minutes so professors expect to have your full attention for the entire time that you are in their class.

    Tips for prospective students

Before coming here make sure you have everything ready, document wise. Also be ready to meet many people and be prepared to network from the moment that you step on campus. You never know who you may run in to whether it be on your way to class or just standing outside talking with a group of friends.

    In three sentences

Clark Atlanta is full of many opportunities, and has so many things to offer. The staff works well with you to help you get to where you need to be and so do the upperclassmen students as well. Professors push you to do your best and help you network withing your major so that once you graduate it is easier for you to land a career.

    Food and Dining

The caf has its days where it is really good and really bad. Fried chicken Wednesdays and Fried fish Fridays are amazing!

    Dorm Life

At first I was in Brawley hall which is an upperclassman and honors apartment-style dorm it reminded me of a jail cell but I miss the kitchen. Merner hall is a freshman dorm which means communal bathroom. They do not wash the walls and do not clean consistently. The rooms are honestly too small for two people.

    Academic Rigor

Being an Honors student can be challenging and due dates can sneak up on you. Stay on top of your work or you will drown!

    In three sentences

Stay on top of your financial aid they will not do it for you here. If you receive a scholarship from the school keep your grades up because they will take it if you do not meet the requirements. Find a way or make one!

    Campus Safety

I personally never feared for my safety as I have either been in at a certain time or had a ride. Still, I've heard many accounts of people being robbed at gunpoint. CAU is not in the best neighborhood and the campus is pretty open. However, stuff happens and danger is not unique to this campus. Stay smart and hopefully you won't need public safety.

Great for these types of students

Great if you can get a scholarship. Great if you are a sociable go getter who takes full advantage of the find a way or make one motto. Yes, it's a great motto, but it's abused by those in charge for an excuse not to do their jobs well.

    Bang for the buck

Costs way too much. Faculty and staff generally tend to forget that they work for you. There are some special exceptions but expect a lot of attitudes and procrastination when you need something from them but tons of emails and notices when it's the other way around. Facilities and resources are just okay. On the plus side when you do find that gem of a teacher your experience becomes a little easier. Still, it's a reflection of the students as nobody demands better. Including myself, but once you get so close to graduation you become jaded and just want to get out.

    What to do for fun

Shuttle will take you to the nearest train station which will take you to Atlantic Station. Usually always a party on Friday and saturday. People are usually hanging out in the library or on the promenade which is a good way to meet people if you're extroverted. In general Atlanta is a lively city so if you gave the funds there's something to do.

    Food and Dining

Nothing special and nothing horrible. Transitioned from Panther Den to Wow Cafe a couple years ago. I personally miss the den but incoming students won't know a difference. There's a cafeteria, the WOW cafe, and Jazzmans, which is coffee/tea/smoothies/bagels. A bunch of fast food restaurants around as well.

    Dorm Life

They try to impress you freshman year with okay dorms, which have newer furniture but no elevators for your heavy stuff. Common bathrooms have always been unappealing to me but I suppose that's a personal preference. No fridges or microwaves allowed in freshman dorms. When you become an upperclassmen there is a compromise. You get your own room, share a space with 3 or 5 other people. But the furniture is older, and it just looks old from mediocre maintenance. If you room with friends it works out, but otherwise you're with people who probably don't have the same sleeping patterns, cleaning habits, concepts of common sense (i.e. acceptable Music levels at 3 am) as you. Most people move off campus the moment they can but if you have to you can stay even as a senior.

    Academic Rigor

Varies across departments. You will have great and horrible teachers. A lot of the core classes in freshman and sophomore years are pointless easy A's. Once you take more major courses it gets more challenging. Take as many electives as you are allowed, ones that are truly interesting and beneficial to you. You will get in what you put out so don't slack because you never know what you can use to get ahead come post-graduation. If you ever take a class and have to ask yourself what am I supposed to get out of this? Don't be afraid to talk the teacher, and maybe your department chair, because otherwise you will be wasting 30k+.

    Tips for prospective students

    1) visit the campus at two times; when events are going and when they aren't. Like most schools the atmosphere is hyped up at certain times but it can be misleading. 2) find someone in your major if you can to find out what you should expect, it's different across each department 3) don't wait to the last minute to register for classes and get your financial aid together. You will avoid so much trouble. 4) Always check in when you need to, whether it's with advisement, classes, registration, graduation, financial aid, whatever. These people work for you and don't take excuses. 5) balance your academic and social life. It's possible to be successful in both. Be smart and you won't have to come to the end of a semester clueless about your status in a class.

    In three sentences

Prioritized parties/socializing over academics. However, depending on your major, you may benefit from smaller class sizes which allows teachers and students to have meaningful relationships. If you are not someone who is on top of things this is not the school for you because you will find yourself wondering what happened and why nobody told you.

    Campus Safety

There is always a security around.

    Greek Life

I am not greek, but I do enjoy all of the organizations being on the yard.

    Clubs and Activities

There's 80+ club clubs you can join, and if you do not see a particular club you have the power to charter it.

Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus

Each freshman residential hall has a step and stroll team that competes for a trophy during homecoming. Also CAU is the most filmed HBCU. Our campus is the heart of the Civil Rights movement with Dr.King. The male suites was once the old NAACP office. Thayer Hall the school of social work was founded by W.E.B Dubois.

    Bang for the buck

Every school on campus produced someone notable.

    What to do for fun

Parties, shopping, working, anything you like to do.

    Food and Dining

There is a wide variety of food, Caribbean, Mexican, american, etc, it varies each day. There will always be vegetarian food also. Also there an WOW cafe, which serves wings, burgers, appetizers etc.

    Dorm Life

Our residence halls are all well maintained and comfortable living. You can pick from traditional halls or suites as freshman, once you are an upperclassman there are upperclassman halls available which are apartments.

    Academic Rigor

The student to teacher ratio is 17:1 so you will know you professors well. Smaller class sizes means you can focus more and be able to get assistance more from your professor more than you would in a class with a lot of people.

    Tips for prospective students

Be hungry for what you want, if you do not put in the work do not expect for things to be the way you want them.

    In three sentences

CAU is the place to be. I would rate my institution a 9. Every school has flaws, but CAU has The Spirit of Greatness that will help you matriculate.
