Categories Comments Great for these types of students People with smaller budgets, in the area, and looking for a beautiful campus should check out Clayton State.
Tips for prospective students Apply, pay, and make sure you have all paper work filled out far ahead of time! Sometimes the way you are notified that you still have things to do before you are signed up for classes or registered is confusing. Take time to enjoy the scenery. The Lakeside Dining Hall may be cheap and all you can eat, but unless you want hamburgers, pizza, and salad all the time, check the menu before you pay.
Bang for the buck Clayton State is a cheaper community college, so it seems cheaper than other schools. For someone trying to save their money though, even between 1000 and 2000 dollars for 2 or 3 classes can be expensive. I am learning a lot though and do not have to travel far to go to school.
Am enjoying being here Clayton State has a beautiful campus, except when it storms! The staff is always willing to help, whether teachers, the HUB (computer support), advisors, or any other department. I don't like having to pay so many fees for services I don't use when I pay for classes. The fees make up a lot of the bill.
Am learning a lot I have a high school diploma, so some information that others are learning is review for me. All my classes teach new material and the teachers, for the most part, are very helpful.

Categories Comments Tips for prospective students Time management!! The freedom of college is WONDERFUL! But it can get in the way. Nobody is there to tell you what to do and when to do it. You're completely grown by college. Just stay focus. Don't party too much! But enjoy your college life!
Bang for the buck Clayton State is extremely cheap. Aim for the Hope Scholarship as an extra assistance. But you are able to pay for the tuition with or without small scholarships.
Am enjoying being here Clayton State was not my first choice, but I do not regret attending the University. It is a very nice, warm, and inviting environment. Everyone is nice and it is always something to do on campus. I absolutely enjoy it here
Am learning a lot The professors at Clayton State are so wonderful. They connect with the students on a personal level which encourages you to want to learn even more. They make sure you get your times worth in class and it's rare you will leave confused

Categories Comments Great for these types of students Any.
Tips for prospective students Always stay in communication with the people in admissions and financial aid until you have been fully processed into Clayton State's system. Also, don't be afraid to talk to any of the faculty or staff that you see on campus.
Bang for the buck While the fees make up most of the tuition bill, it is still cheap for the quality education you receive.
Am enjoying being here Clayton State wasn't my first choice school, but I difinitely don't feel bad about being here. The faculty and staff here are amazing, the campus is very beautiful and there is something on campus for everyone to get involved in.
Am learning a lot I feel like I do learn at lot attending Clayton State Unversity. Since it is still a relatively small school, there are more opportunities to get to know professors and recieve more one on one help when needed. Also, most professors are willing to help give you sound advice about achieveing your career goals.

Categories Comments Campus Safety They pass out parking tickets like chewing gum but they keep you safe. :) There are telephone polls all around for emergencies and they help you out in terms of needing a jump to start your car or if you are locked out of your car. Also a very important thing if you do not want to walk back to your car, dorm or apartment by yourself, they offer escorts for safety.
Greek Life It is very rare to see Greek life (like stomping the yard or parties) on campus unless you are a part of that Greek life. However, they do have informative talks, and community service projects at least once a semester.
Clubs and Activities There are a lot of clubs and organizations that do so many activities it is very hard to choose what you want to do in any given night on top of doing your studying and your homework. But there is every club for every major so at least join your major's club.
Great for these types of students The school is for people who can balance themselves between academics, (because the teachers are very rigorous and they hold a lot of midnight study sessions because of it) and those fun times when they do spring carnivals, have those trips for outdoor adventure and things of that nature.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus The school does not have any traditions, it is about 15 minutes south of Atlanta.
Bang for the buck In terms of education and helpfulness yes, you are getting what you paid for. The teachers are there to help, center for academic success, the career service (to help you find a job, even after graduation), campus life (in terms of leadership classes and volunteering opportunities); they are all good places to go to get help and have fun. Especially outdoor adventure that is also through campus life. Outdoor adventure is hiking, skiing, caving; I would honestly say that is the best part.
What to do for fun The student activities center is the place to be (you can work out and take great fitness classes and most of the seminars that are good for you tend to be in that building), and every week an organization is putting on something so you will always have something to do.
Food and Dining The dining hall is not all that great; but the Pizza Hut station is pretty good and the little coffee shops they have are the best and those places make up for the dining hall.
Dorm Life Never stayed in the dorm (only for freshman), but I have heard that it is not the best. The student apartments are better.
Academic Rigor Some majors are easy, of course anything dealing with Health-care (Biology, Nursing, Health-care Management) are the hardest. They really do prepare you for the real world.
Tips for prospective students Be ready many students say CSU is the Harvard of the south.
In three sentences They are very different from the rest, not big on sports, so not that big on school spirit but they do try to get you involved. The teachers care so they work you hard so that you understand all the material you would need to succeed in your given field. They try to make sure every student is a successful leader and they also do a lot of community service projects and that is one of the best aspects of the school.

Categories Comments What to do for fun There are several events going on every second. Emails pour in every day about an event for people to do. Clubs, concerts, meetings. Everyone will find something.
Food and Dining This is another guess because as stated before, I commute. I have eaten at the cafeteria only a few times when meeting with honor's groups. It was always good when I went.
Dorm Life This one I have to guess because I have not lived in the dorms. I commute, but I have heard the dorms are good and clean.
Academic Rigor While some of the core classes are relatively easy and simple, the higher level classes and honor's classes are challenging. Who doesn't like a good challenge?
Tips for prospective students Clayton State University is a great choice even if you do not want to stay there for four years. I didn't plan to stay, but I'm going to stay and receive my Bachelor's degree from here.
In three sentences Clayton State University is a big college with a small college feel. The professors are wonderful and have time to meet with you one-on-one. It is a great college that is also close enough for me to commute.

Categories Comments Campus Safety Occasionally I get an e-mail warning about a knife fight, robbery, or thief. However, that only happened about 3 times in the year I was there.
Greek Life Not much?
Clubs and Activities All sorts!
Great for these types of students Students wanting to graduate high school early. Students interested in graduating high school with college credits. Students who are just starting college but want to stay close to home. Students who need to be accepted for financial aid.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus An unusual location could be the gym--lots of gym junkies can be found at late hours of the night.
Bang for the buck I feel like some classes may be over priced. I also feel like the majority of the students don't have much personality or drive.
What to do for fun They always have activities going on during the week and on the weekends. Concerts, recitals, performances, and games are always happening somewhere.
Food and Dining Great food and dining!
Dorm Life I have never lived in the dorms, but I've stayed there sometimes. They are really nice and you feel very safe in that environment.
Academic Rigor Academic rigor is ultimately up to how involved you choose to become.
Tips for prospective students Dual en-roll! Do all you can to graduate from high school with college credits already behind you. I worked really hard in high school so that I graduated at age 16. Now, at age 17, I have a year of college behind me with 31 college credits. Because of this, it is much easier for me to be accepted or invited to a transfer school with a good scholarship.
In three sentences I love the classes, teachers, and faculty at CSU. The school is set up around providing me with the best options that will lead to my ultimate success. I would highly recommend anyone to dual enroll, or start off their college experience at CSU.

Categories Comments Bang for the buck I can trully say that CSU was one of my cheaper choices and the resources are easily accessible and worth more than you can get on any other.
Will enjoy being here Everyone seems to be very upbeat.
Will learn a lot The orientation session was very helpful and the orientation leaders were very nice and encouraging.

Categories Comments Great for these types of students It's great for all sorts of students. Also, their cross country team is pretty great. They hold cross country matches there as well. You may want to look into it.
Tips for prospective students Tips: Look into other schools, visit campuses, enjoy.
Bang for the buck It is an extremely cheap community college and you should look into it if you aren't willing to pay more. Also, if you get grants, it helps out.
Will enjoy being here The campus is beautiful and easy to get to. Unfortunately it isn't in the safest area, but you should be fine on campus.
Will learn a lot At Clayton State you will receive a large amount of knowledge in your courses of study. Although it isn't a highly rated school amongst all because of it's class scheduling issues, I'm certain it is fine.

Categories Comments Great for these types of students All students that want to learn and meet a diversed group of people.
Tips for prospective students Apply to Clayton State University ... you will not regret it!
Bang for the buck The cost is very affordable & reasonable, with the high level of education that you receive.
Am enjoying being here Everyone, from staff to students, is very polite, courteous, upbeat, and helpful at CSU. The campus is well maintained and classes are easy to find.
Am learning a lot The professors at CSU are always available when you need additional help with class topics and they continuously encourage students to push themselves to learn and participate more - whether it is in the classroom, on the campus or within the community. Overall, I can't and won't complain as to how much I am learning.

Categories Comments Bang for the buck the tuition here is fairly cheap. this school may have the one of the cheapest tuitions in georgia.
What to do for fun there are a lot of activities that partake at this school. different organizations put thing together such as, white water rafting, going on trips out of state, etc.
Food and Dining the cafeteria food is ok. their sub sandwiches and burgers are very good. the school has a pizza hut, a subway, and a cafe for smoothies and fresh baked goodies!
Dorm Life the dorms are very nice. they are only 5-6 years old so they are fairly new compared to other university dormitories.
Academic Rigor the academic is rigorous, but its not so rigorous that you can not make at least a c if you try. yes you do need to attend class, take time out to study, and listen carefully in class.
Tips for prospective students please do not come to this school and think that it's a joy ride because it is not. it is required and imperative that you show up for lectures because it can be hard to catch up after missing too many days.
In three sentences clayton state is an exceptional, gratifying, and a learning experience that a college student is definitely able to receive. the staff are great and the campus life is very outgoing! clayton is definitely the place to attend!

Categories Comments What to do for fun when ever the students aren't studying for an exam or completing one of the thirty plus (no exaggeration) chemistry assignments, they can be found either working out or playing pool at the student activity center. csu lies in the center of morrow, near the movie theatre, mall, and large shopping center; therefore, when students become bored on campus, they can slip away to any of these locations.
Food and Dining the food is typically sub par. flavorless fish, undercooked vegetables, and seafood-liver combinations are common dishes served at the dining hall.
Dorm Life the dorms are set up like apartments. each dorm consists of a living room, kitchenette, four bedrooms, and a bathroom on each side of the dorm. though the dorms are really nice, students are usually not in their own dorm; they are typically located in the student activity center or downstairs in the dorm's game room.
Academic Rigor the first semester is a transitional period where new college students can adapt to college life. this semester is the only semester in which students take it easy because the second semester gets real hard real fast. the teachers try their best to challenge students, but they offer plenty of one on one help to students who wish to make the best grade possible.
Tips for prospective students clayton state university is not an incredibly arduous university to be accepted into; however, the teachers expect a lot from their students and will not allow new students to slack off.
In three sentences clayton state university is a small university that values one on one relationships between the professors and their students. by the end of each semester, the professors not only know the students on a first name basis, but they know there majors, desires, and dreams they wish to pursue after college. though csu is a small and relatively unknown university, i value my education here because of the relationship i possess with my instructors.

Categories Comments Campus Safety very few incidents
Greek Life strong both female and male organizations
Clubs and Activities a great variety
Great for these types of students working class students, young or seasoned, looking for a quality education in higher learning with a reasonable price tag.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus out in any of the various parking area's for students you may find me in my car studying or in a peaceful meditation.
Bang for the buck all types of programs on campus to save students money and for just being a student of clayton discounted perks off campus as well.
What to do for fun depending on your style their are a whole slue of activities to enjoy on and off campus.
Food and Dining multiple dinning facilities on campus
Dorm Life never lived in a dorm but i understand it to be good for some and not so good for others.
Academic Rigor pro-work atmosphere for a pro-working community
Tips for prospective students stay within your limitations. do not overkill yourself with frivolous distractions, friends, parties, etc. always communicate with your professor no matter what the case maybe.
In three sentences clayton state university has been a big influence in my life choices for my future. throughout my attendance here at clayton state univ. i have found and developed my purpose for my field in sociology. this university provides the equitable services needed for success towards graduating to their entire student community with the add component, a healthy atmosphere for working staff members, which formulates a successful aurora for projected graduating students.

Categories Comments Campus Safety Those are real police aon campus nd they do not play around, a word to the wise.
Clubs and Activities Basketball and Soccer are doing really well.
Great for these types of students People that didn't do all that well in high school and need a school that will help them develop.
Bang for the buck Really cheap considering you have smaller classes, many majors to choose from and the amount of extras that your money pays for that are included
What to do for fun Parties, make friends and hang out. You are right outside Atlanta and if you want to stay near campus, there's an AMC theater and South Lake mall is on the same exit.
Food and Dining Don't buy the everyday or almost everyday plan because there are other dining options on and off campus.
Dorm Life Dorms are very spacious and apartment style, although not for everybody.
Academic Rigor Depends on what type of worker you are. I've seen a few assignments given to current students and it is doable, but make sure you come ready to work.
Tips for prospective students Research all of your options and don't decide something this important on word of mouth. You need to actually do the research because what is right for some, isn't right for all.
In three sentences I have only experienced one of the open orientations that they offer, but from that and from what current students have told me about the school; it is a perfect match for a person like me. I wasn't a star in high school and needed a school that would give me a second chance to do and be better and Clayton State is that school.

Categories Comments Campus Safety The campus is secured from danger by the campus own police as well as the morrow police. They patrol the campus all hours of the night and day.
What to do for fun Done with your work and bored out of your mind. Go to a a campus party,or attend poetry night, or even fits the game room. Do not just sit in your room when there is so much to do on campus
Food and Dining When you enter the dining hall you are greeted by nice employees and excellent chefs. The food is excellent and you are given many different choice from salads, to subs, and home cooked meals. If the dining hall not you cup of tea then there is a pizza hut, a sub connection, and cafes to help you fight your hunger.
Dorm Life Laker Hall helps you to adjust to college life without leaving the comfort of your own home. Yes, you have to go to class but when you go back to your room you can relax after a long day. Clayton Place is beautiful apartments with many fun perks. A pool and your own room with your bathroom to name a few.
Academic Rigor Clayton State is a difficult school but do not let that detour you from applying here. Clayton State offers one on one tutoring sessions, access to make different resources to accommodate all learning types, and an environment for success that can be seen as soon as you enter the campus.
Tips for prospective students For future students make sure you have a laptop, money for printing, and a game plan. College is not like high school. In a typical college day you might be faced with three tests, one projects, and five homework assignments to complete in one day so work hard and efficient . You have only 24 hours in a day so make each hour count at the academic success center and the sac. Enjoy college life but also remember you are also there to further education.
In three sentences Clayton State University is an unique school. This school offers a varies of programs and resources to that can be tailored to fit your needs and wants. Clayton State might be a small campus but it impact of the world is huge.

Categories Comments Bang for the buck It's cool for in-state, but if you're an out of state, they will pretty much try to play you, so stay on top and pay attention of your financial aid, keep applying for scholarships, and don't loose hope.
What to do for fun Attend all of the school activities, go out to eat, or go shopping at the mall. If you do not have a car, its best you try to connect with someone who does.
Food and Dining They have their good days and they have their bad days.
Dorm Life It's a lifetime experience and helpful.
Academic Rigor Some teacher's are very confusing, but a syllabus helps you out a lot. If they don't have a syllabus, it's best you be very attentive in class.
Tips for prospective students Work hard, study hard, and try not to get too distracted.

Categories Comments Campus Safety The campus safety is great! There is rarely anything bad happening on campus.
Greek Life Without Greek Life the school would definitely be boring, because of lack of campus life.
Clubs and Activities There are many clubs and organizations you can get involved in, but a lot of them are unorganized but you do meet a lot of new friends and it helps with networking. Campus Events Council, D.E.E.P., Power House Models and SAAB are the main ones with events happening most of the time.
Great for these types of students Good school for those students who do not like to party and want to stay focused on academic work.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus We have a Bent Tree located outside by our University Center and if you rub it then it's good luck to graduate on time.
Bang for the buck Everything is worth the money except the meal plan. Freshman are required to get the meal plan, but I do not encourage to get one after that.
What to do for fun There are not many things to do on campus for fun except maybe walk around the lake, go to the gym, or the game room if there are no activities happening on campus.
Food and Dining The dining hall is disgusting, however Pizza Hut, SubConnection, Sandella's, and Jazzman's Cafe is pretty good. The dining hall is under Sodexo, but the food is just not worth the money at all. Especially since the grade dropped to an A to a C in 2011.
Dorm Life The dorms are nice besides the ants, gnats, and ladybugs that may get in your room. The Residents Assistants do have activities and events that go on every week to do. The kitchen and laundry is downstairs and there are study rooms on each of the four floors.
Academic Rigor The work is not easy but if you study hard and have good time management skills then you will be fine.
Tips for prospective students Make sure you have a good GPA and was involved in extracurricular activities as well as volunteer work.
In three sentences Clayton State University is a great school for nursing, business, and biology majors. I like it here but it's not many students first choice. Most students stay until their sophomore or junior year and then transfer to another college.

Categories Comments Campus Safety I have always felt safe on the CSU campus. The campus police are visible and accessible. Parking lots are well-lit at night. The IT office sends alerts to student websites and email accounts to warn of threatening weather (which does not happen often). Obviously, no place is guaranteed safe but of all the college campuses I have been on, CSU is the best protected. I am unaware of crimes on the campus although off campus students are encouraged to go in groups and to stay in well lighted and well traveled areas.
Greek Life Included in the 70 plus organizations on the campus are fraternities and sororities. For those who are interested, there is a link on the school website that will give more information.
Clubs and Activities Most academic departments have clubs that are open to majors and other students who share an interest in the subject. There are religious and secular clubs available as well. Clayton State currently has over 70 student organizations representing student interests in everything from cultural awareness to medical professions...
Great for these types of students CSU is a diverse university with students of all ages, races, and physical abilities. I cannot imagine any student who would not find new and different friends while acquiring knowledge for a lifetime. There are students who graduated from high school early and students like me who have returned to school during retirement. We mix together well. We are truly a community that reflects the world.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus Central to the CSU campus is a gorgeous lake that is home to wildlife including ducks, fish, swans, turtles, and geese. Nature lovers and exercise enthusiasts will be more than pleased to stroll, walk, or run the paths around the lake and campus.
What to do for fun There are a lot of activities on the campus but being close to Atlanta also offers the opportunity to attend Atlanta Braves games, the Georgia Aquarium, the High Museum, the Fox Theater, the World of Coke, Stone Mountain Park, and Six Flags. There are many other fun things to do around the campus including, but not limited to, the Baskin Robbins Ice Cream Parlor.
Food and Dining CSU offers a variety of dining options across campus. It includes an all-you-care-to-eat Lakeside Dining Hall, a stop by Pizza Hut, SubConnection, or Jazzman's Cafe for a fast service. Lakeside Dining Hall The Lakeside Dining Hall is the meal plan dining hall at Clayton State. Guests may also purchase a meal at the door (Breakfast $ 5.00 + tax; Lunch, Brunch, and Dinner $ 8.00 + tax)
Dorm Life Because CSU was a community based commuter school, dorm life was a low priority. However, over the years CSU has grown and developed from those humble beginnings into a first-class University including dorms. Ample reserved parking is available for all dorms.
Academic Rigor CSU is academically challenging. It is up to you to take advantage of this opportunity. However, the professors and staff are exceptional and go the second-mile to help those who want to learn. The Center for Academic Success (CAS) offers a variety of personalized academic services to all Clayton State University students, including staff and peer tutoring and multimedia instruction.
Tips for prospective students Do not be afraid or embarrassed to ask questions. Everyone at CSU wants to help. Attend the concerts, dramas, sports events, and other activities. They will help you quickly become apart of the school. Do not forget your dental health. There is an excellent dental school at CSU and the prices are very reasonable.
In three sentences CSU is student friendly, even for students with disabilites, yet it is academically challenging. It has a beautiful campus and has recently added new residential facilities. The Georgia State Archives and the Federal Archives are situated in close proximity to the campus.

Greek Life We do have Greek Life, not that many, but the ones we do have are really nice people that also host activities for the students to have fun, and interact with each other.
Clubs and Activities The clubs and activities are really good. The clubs do a lot of community service around the area and host different event for the students to do.
What to do for fun You can walk around campus with your friends. The campus did have events were all the students can come out a participate with their fellow peers.
Food and Dining Eating in the dining hall was ok sometimes, but you do have other options if you choose not to eat in the dining hall. They have Pizza Hut, Sub Connection, Jazzman's, and even Sandella's, which is located in the dorm.
Dorm Life Dorm life was a nice experience for me. When living in the dorm, you become real close to your peer and you will make great friends. It's a nice experience to live on campus in the dorms. The dorms look more like apartments and have nice furniture. Also the dorm has a really nice cafe called Sandella's downstairs that made your late night studying even better.
Academic Rigor Like I said in the before, this school has really good when it come to academics. The teachers are willing to help in anyway possible to help you achieve.

In three sentences I would rate Clayton State University as an overall great college to be attending. They have really good teachers that are willing to help the students with there academics. Also the school has program that are free to assist students with tutoring, essay writing, and studying for your classes.

Great for these types of students Shut ins and people who just want a degree to appease the job or the relatives.

Categories Comments Campus Safety You're always going to feel safe, especially on campus and especially at Laker Hall. A lot of things require your ID and check in and so on so they keep account of who you are. Public safety are always around if you feel as if you are in harms way. At Clayton Station though as well as anywhere else you need to make sure that your valuables are secured and that you keep your car doors locked when you leave it because some people are in desperate needs of cars. But overall it's safe. Treat your stuff with respect and value as you would a human, Although the security is great don't ever get to careless to think you can just leave your stuff out their in the open. But don't worry it's WAY less than Georgia State; people aren't that crazy to just go snatching laptops and stuff.
Greek Life Although it's not as widespread as it is in other schools via UGA it's great. They host events, activities and parties. They take pride in their Greek life. I wish it was more out their than it is now though..
Clubs and Activities A lot of organizations!
Great for these types of students Nature Loving Smart students Students who prefer to start off at a slightly smaller school Students who prefer to get college out of the way Dual-Enrollment Calm People People who want to enjoy college responsibly lol
Bang for the buck Great bang for the buck! It's actually quite cheaper than a lot of schools and you do receive high quality education. So this is a greater starter or even finisher school especially for the price.
What to do for fun Hmmm for fun I suggest being involved. Sometimes their are campus based parties but other times a lot of students go home on the weekends or go clubbing. If you are involved are associated with Greeks they have personal events they participate in which are really awesome. O on some days they have movie nights at the amphitheater and this upcoming fall/winter I believe they will begin their concerts. But if you love nature you can always walk the lake on the path it's really nice. But yea, if you're involved events are always going to be popping up.
Food and Dining The food is pretty good and some nights it's great! It's a buffet style so it's convenient if you are just a hungry college student are just want something else to eat. If you don't care for what they cook then a Pizza Hut and Subconnection is located on the other side and you can pay with your dining dollars, which doesn't interfere with your meal plan. Also it's this really awesome cafe place that serve some great coffee and the best smoothies! They also have drinks, chips, salad, and sandwiches in their, and some good sweets.
Dorm Life I live in the freshmen dorm; Laker Hall. It's really nice! It feels like an apartment just without a full kitchen (kitchen does not have stove) the rooms are painted and it's not that ugly jail cement thing going on. Thank goodness! The bathrooms are actually quite large and are more convenient because the sink with the big mirror is outside of the bathroom, while the bathroom consist of the shower/tub and a toilet. Good distance away from each other. The only downfall to the dorms are that the walls are paper thin. So you may want to be extra cautious to what you may do...based on your interpretation... But other than that they are nice kind of small but not cramped. Their are 4 rooms to 1 dorm and 2 bathrooms (2 suite-mates for each). The beds are XL and you may want to get some mattress toppers if you do live here, just saying. Clayton Station, the apartments for upperclassmen/non-freshmen are really nice and spacious! Everyone has their personal bathroom which is big too and the rooms are larger with full size beds! They are really top of the line with a kitchen as well.
Academic Rigor You have to stay on your A game. I'll admit their are times where you can slip off just a little bit but that's it! This is not high school where you get extra credit opportunities all the time,No you must be responsible for yourself and complete your work with the highest priority. College is great but you have to constantly remind yourself that you are here for a degree not 24/7 fun. You have to study and know your stuff with confidence. This is a challenging school.
Tips for prospective students If you are considering Clayton State but aren't exactly sure if this school meets your priority please come visit! You will hear everything and the pictures does not do this school justice. It's great! The school is inside of a calm atmosphere, if you are more focused on getting school out of the way then this place is for you. I'll admit the school will seem slightly dead at times but their are so many activities to engage in especially if you are involved with Greeks. Also if you attend here you WILL NEED to study and stay on your A game!! The professors are kind enough and want you to come see them during their office hours, they get lonely too! So never feel as if this school is not a challenge because it is and they (professors, tutors--in/out of dorm, advisors, etc) are here to make sure that you succeed.
In three sentences Clayton State is a great school! At first I was skeptical about attending this school, but I'm very glad that I came! The campus is beautiful the dorms are actually really nice! Way better than those you'll find at higher priced colleges. The courses and curriculum that are offered here requires you to be knowledgeable and step outside of your normal thinking corner.

Categories Comments Campus Safety Safety is their top priority. Prepare to recieve emails and alerts whenever anything suspicious or smething has occured. Police officers and campus security roam the entire campus at all times of the day. Two local police stations are always surrounding the area.
Greek Life I am not really interested in the Greek life, but there are plenty to pledge.
Clubs and Activities Too many clubs and activities to list. So many you will never run out of something new to try out.
Great for these types of students If you want to live away from your parents and learn to be independent then this is a great college for you. If you don't want to be at a boring college nd want to enjoy the college life.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus A gym is available as well as a student activities center where you can go play the Wii in your spare time. Ducks are always on campus since there are many small lakes surrounding the campus. It's relaxing to take a walk and take the view in especially close to sunset.
Bang for the buck If you are a Georgia resident tuition is way more affordable compared to other colleges around the area. Even for out of state residents it is not as expensive.
What to do for fun There is always an event going on at school. I swear there is always a cookout or movie show going n every week. Different activities fill up the week so you can always have something to attend if you ever need a break from schoolwork. Southlake mall is also less then 10 minutes away where you may be lucky to see rapper T.I. shopping, or spot him at the AMC theater down the street from the Mall.
Food and Dining The school does have a lot of eateries on campus. From a pizzahut express to their own version of a starbucks. They also have buffet style grill and a cafe. Many restaurants surround the area close by if you ever feel like going out of campus and can afford it. Most of them do deliver as well.
Dorm Life I stay off campus, but the dorms are minutes away from the mall and local stores. You can literally walk to walmart less than a mile away if you ever need anything. The school bookstore also sells everything from books to housing supplies.
Academic Rigor They have one of the best nursing programs. They may not have the highest graduation rate, but I think they still have a lot of potential
Tips for prospective students It may be in a small city in Morrow, GA., but don't underestimate it. Classes are harder then high school, but the key is to study. Study, study, and study. The teachers make themselves available for any extra help you may need, take the opportunity and use it to your advantage.
In three sentences So far being there the teachers are great. The campus has so much diversities and groups. Thereis always some new event going on so it's never boring there.

Categories Comments Campus Safety Clayton State University has a top security team. They notify all of us of any security issue, not only on campus, but near campus! We have constant patrols and presence in and near the dorms.
Greek Life There are many fraternities and sororities on campus, even though I do not participate. The younger student will be proud to belong to any of them.
Clubs and Activities There are many activities to be involved in, along with clubs and such.
Great for these types of students Great for any type of student, especially those who don't like being thrown into large crowds.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus Not really, other than Loch -- there is a rumor Loch lives in the main lake on campus. He is a sweetheart!
Bang for the buck Your money is well spent here. Because of the small campus, you get more attention and more to do. Having instructors that want to help and see you succeed is just one of the bonuses offered here.
What to do for fun Clayton State has a state record holding women's basketball team, a soccer team that is developing and a score of other opportunities to join clubs and organizations.
Food and Dining There are many opportunities in addition to the campus dining hall. We have a Pizza Hut, a Food to Go, a Starbucks, Sandella's and a couple of other. There is also the book store which offers drinks and snacks.
Dorm Life Even though I don't stay on campus, the dorms are beautiful!
Academic Rigor There is plenty of help should you need it, such as our Center for Academic Success, which always has someone there to help you with tutoring. Also, the instructors are out of this world and want to see you succeed. They will work with you to make sure you are where you need to be.
Tips for prospective students If you are looking for a small campus with lots of activities, this is it. The school has a great student body, many of opportunities and a school that works hard to keep you on track and help you fulfill your dream education.
In three sentences This campus is beautiful. The opportunities are endless. The faculty and administration work hard to help you realize your dream!

Greek Life There is Greek life and they are very active on campus.
Clubs and Activities There are a wide range of clubs to be involved in. I am currently involved in SGA and I love it.
Great for these types of students Clayton State is great for all types of students.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus I can't think of any unusual things.
What to do for fun I love hanging out on campus, there is always something happening.
Food and Dining I would have to say that the food is the best part of Clayton State. There is a variety of things available, from Pizza Hut to Chinese.
Dorm Life There are two different types of dorms you have laker hall which houses freshman and its like your regular dorm style. Then you have Clayton Station which is apartment style housing. I would recommend Clayton Station because you have your own private room as well as bathroom.
Academic Rigor The courses are tough, however the outcome is worth all the late night studying.
Tips for prospective students When looking for a college be sure to approach it like a job. See what works best for you. Rather it's the campus life, dorm rooms, or class size.
In three sentences Clayton State is the best university that has ever been built. There is always someone there to assist in everyday life. Everyone on campus is always very helpful and friendly.

Categories Comments Campus Safety There is 24/7 security around the campus. Officers are either located inside and outside buildings, watching out for the safety of all students. The safety guild lines are strictly enforced by all faculty, staff and students. You can walk to and from your dorm room, knowing you are safe and being looked after by an officer.
Greek Life Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. (AKA), Alpha Kappa Lambda Fraternity, Inc., Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc., Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc., Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc., Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc. and Theta Phi Alpha Fraternity are the only sororities and fraternities at Clayton state right now. They have occasional step shows and events for the entire campus.
Clubs and Activities American Medical Student Association (AMSA), Campus Christian Ministries, Chemistry Club, Clayton State Internet Radio (CSiR), Clayton State Television (CSTV), The Go Green Team, Honors Student Association, The Math Club, S.A.F.E., STI Awareness For Everyone, Society for Human Resources Management, Society of Global Affairs (SoGA), NAfME, Collegiate Chapter of National Association for Music Education, MEISA, Music and Entertainment Industry Student Association, Men's Club Basketball, Men's Club Soccer, Women's Club Volleyball and Club Baseball are activities avaliable to all students. Track and Field, Girls Basketball and Soccer are the most popular sports on campus.
Great for these types of students Student who need to stay in state (GA) and save money but still want a valuable education, low-income students, anyone continuing their education and also want a valuable education, public school with a private school feel, small class sizes, desire help with career placement after graduating
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus It is a legend at Clayton State that the Loch Ness monster (also our school mascot) roams in the lakes around the campus and if anyone catches it, they automatically get there degree.
Bang for the buck Checking out books at your school store could save you money. Also buying a meal plan instead of paying to go out could also save a lot of cash.
What to do for fun I typically watch TV or go out with friends. I would spend most of my time studying any way, so I don't have much time for fun. To take a break, I usually head to dining hall where they host small concerts for students on campus. A trip to the shopping center or movies on the weekends is also a way to get off campus and have fun.
Food and Dining There are a variety of meal choices in Dining Hall and all over campus. There is even a sandwich shop in the Laker hall dorms so you don't have to go that far from your room to eat. Some choices may not be the healthiest, i.e pizza, but the food is edible, and if you have a meal plan, you don't have to worry about paying.
Dorm Life The dorms in the Laker hall were recently built so they are in decent shape. There are occasional pieces of trash here and there but maintenance is pretty tight. Depending on your relationship with your roommates, you may find it to be a blast or a bust. As with any dorm, there will be occasional misunderstandings and things can get out of hand, but there is rarely any disturbances. The RAs do a good job of handling situations and there are occasional room checks to keep things in order.
Academic Rigor Depending on your major, each class has its different level of rigor. Also depending on your mental capability to handle the amount of information spewed out by your professor, it may seem like a lot to some and easy to others. In general, you are always challenged by your teachers. Sometimes you may even have to go out of your way to complete an assignment, but in the end its worth it!
Tips for prospective students Be sure to apply early to get scholarships listed on the website. Make sure you keep posted on your email accounts and mail you may receive. Take a tour and ask about summer programs.
In three sentences Clayton State University is a diverse and well-rounded university. You are guaranteed a valuable education and life-long friends along the way. This school has a lot more to offer if you are willing to give something as well.

Categories Comments Campus Safety There are numerous safety pole located across campus in the matter of an emergency. The Clayton State Campus Safety usually hires actual police officers that are not completely mean. The campus safety will do their job to not only keep you safe especially when you need it, but also to inform you of any potential dangers within the vicinity of the school.
Greek Life Clayton State University has many great sororities and fraternities. Whether you are looking to join a recently formed brotherhood/sisterhood or to continue on as a legacy, Clayton State University has what you are looking for.
Clubs and Activities The clubs can be limited to sororities and fraternities. This can be a drag, but there are many clubs located in the student's access page online. There is a groups link that will connect you to any group you like, and if you do not see one you are interested in then you can even make your own!
Great for these types of students Any. This campus has it all. Even if you are not so interested in being in this country, Clayton State University has the ability to send you to essentially any country with a valid program of earning a degree in. I can not be more happy that I have found the international student friends that I have, or that we have the ability to go over there and learn as well.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus The bent tree behind the Jame Baker Building is a special place that all of the freshmen like to go and rub for good luck. The campus newspaper is named after the bent tree, and although the actual tree is gone we have erected a cast mold of it in it's honor.
Bang for the buck You learn from graduate study professors, meet many great life friends, and most importantly you get an accredited degree from a state university at a minimal price.
What to do for fun There are many night clubs in Atlanta that will pay students to push flyers under your dorm's main door. The clubs will send buses out to the dorms, pick the students up for free, and will bring them back. The campus usually has events going on weekly which are conducted by students as well. The majority of the freshmen's time is spent playing Xbox and enjoying the gigabit internet service on campus.
Food and Dining The food when living on campus is very repetitive. You will develop a routine of what you like to eat and what you should avoid. You will even become a regular with the cooks by the end of the year and they will be able to make your favorite sandwich even if it is not on the menu. Go try it yourself!
Dorm Life The dorm life is very monumental in it's after affect on life. You will always to talk to your roommates even after you move out. You are guaranteed to make many friends, and honestly it will be considered one of the greatest times in your life. I could not recommend living at these dorms more with their gigabit internet service, furnished living areas, and the ability to sign up with people that are your friends. It forces the students to look into living with other people and opening their eyes, and I could not recommend the school's policy of having to live on campus the first year any bit more.
Academic Rigor Clayton State University can be very challenging if you are planning on going into numerous courses (over 15 credit hours) at one time. The academic rigor is moderately high because of the school's ability to cross pollinate graduate study professors with those students even at the freshmen level. This is also a very positive facet of the institution because it offers the undergraduate students an ability to see that the graduate programs offered by the school are easier to go into knowing the professors and most likely numerous peers.
Tips for prospective students Try your best to get an early idea of what area you would like your life to focus on when attending Clayton State University. Do not decide on a major that you are not passionate about because you will regret it at the very last minute when it is too late. Take advantage of all of the resources offered on campus ranging from free tutoring to the medical clinic which offers a free cold pack to every student every semester.
In three sentences A diversified campus with numerous opportunities and resources to ensure a valuable educational experience. Professional staff and friendly on-campus personnel hold a range of skills and backgrounds that are guaranteed to fit every lifestyle. The best thing I find about Clayton State is that it not only is offering education tailored to the vocations found right in it's backyard of a booming business capital of the world, but that it also is right up the street from one of the largest industrial shipping and supply chain ports in the world.

Categories Comments Campus Safety I have never felt unsafe while on campus. There is rarely any crime, and whatever crimes that happen are broadcasted.
Clubs and Activities There are plenty of clubs, and plenty of fun things to do.

Categories Comments What to do for fun There is always events going on on campus whether it's movie night, Greek step show, basketball game, concert, etc. There is also many many student organizations that you can join.
Food and Dining The food is so good ! The dining hall has a all you can eat buffet, the food is always hot and ready to be served. The staff interacts with you while you're preparing your plate, which makes your day even better just because you have someone asking how you are doing, or how your day is going so far. There is also a pizza hut, subconnection (which is kind of like subway), and Jazzman's (which is kind of like starbucks). Overall the food is really good !
Dorm Life Living on campus as a first year student for me is good. You get to meet people from different states and even different countries. When you start living in a dorm, you start getting the feel of what it's like to be on your own without having your mom and dad there with you all day, everyday.
Academic Rigor The professors will challenge you because they want you to go above and beyond what you already know. They encourage you to think outside what you already know to expand your knowledge, and if you ever feel like you don't understand the material, they will help you to understand. Even the professors office hours conflict with your schedule there are other sources like the centers for academic success that helps students with any subject that they are having trouble in.
Tips for prospective students Do research on the college/university that you plan on attending. Don't just pick a college because it always has the best parties, that's not what coming to college is about, it's about getting an education. Take a tour of the campus so you can get the feel of what it would be like if you were to attend that college/university. Make sure the college/university of your choice has the career major that you plan on pursuing.
In three sentences Clayton State University has a beautiful campus, and the people are friendly. There are plenty resources here, and the professors really care about your success. There is more than enough opportunities here on campus.

Clubs and Activities BORING
Great for these types of students Great for students looking for a local university with strong academics they can commute to and from.

Categories Comments Campus Safety The Campus Safety is great I actually use to work for public safety. All access to campus except one entrance is closed at 11 p.m. That one entrance that is still opened has a guard shack with a swinging arm that is controlled by a police officer. There is 24 hour surveillance by the officers and we can get phone and email alerts from Public Safety when something has occurred that the student body should be aware of.
Greek Life I am a proud member of The Gamma Xi Chapter of Alpha Kappa Lambda Fraternity Inc. and I am actually one of the Founding Fathers. We have grown so much and I have enjoyed every aspect of being a Greek. We are pushed to the limits to become role models and leaders of our community and of our organizations. There are either 9 or 10 Greek organizations on campus and growing. I encourage anyone who attends Clayton State to at least see what being a Greek is all about!
Clubs and Activities So many clubs which include chess, math, dental hygiene, AMSA, Golden Key, Pre-pharmacy, BCM, Philosophy, dance, Greeks, cheer squad, and so much more.
Great for these types of students Students who like small classroom settings and who are able to converse with instructor. Students who are not party animals but don't get me wrong their are parties.
Bang for the buck It really is worth the money you put into this school. I have no complaints other than the surrounding area. When you get into Clayton State University property is like it's own community.
What to do for fun Sports, weekly parties, study sessions, Greek events, Resident Assistant events, tons and tons of organizations, the gym, the soccer field, and many more things.
Food and Dining The food I will have to say isn't the greatest but it isn't the worst. The only thing that got to me every now and then is when the chicken was not cooked all the way through. I love buffets so it was heavenly for me all the time. You get all you want to drink from a choice of coffee, cappuccino, soft drinks, juices, milk, and water. It is very clean and it's a nice setting.
Dorm Life I lived in the dorms for 4 years. There is no time you have to be back in your room. You are allowed visits, you have 24 hour security, Resident Assistants there to help at all times, and doors that can only be opened by a programmed card that you will get if you live there.
Academic Rigor Check Syllabus, talk to your professors daily or at least weekly, most tests are short answer not multiple choice. The professors expect a lot from their students so make sure you pay attention, manage your priorities properly, and do not procrastinate.
Tips for prospective students Get all paper work together and ask for help!! Become a Greek because it will truly get you involved with everything the campus has to offer. Make sure you use your dining dollars that come with your meal plan. The cafeteria isn't the most amazing place but it is a buffet and you did pay for it so make sure you take advantage of that. I say this because you don't have time to cook meals and prepare meals, you're in college focus on what isn't handed to you. Get involved in the sports and cheer our school sport teams.
In three sentences Cultural Diverse and a family like environment. A very difficult curriculum so be prepared to be prepared for life. Nothing to do on the weekends but everything to do Sunday night-Thursday night.
