Great for these types of students

All kinds. Athletes, More career driven students. Students who want to have fun and still remember that the true purpose of Clemson is an education.

    Tips for prospective students

College is an experience that will be unique to each person as there are different paths we must take. Mistakes are something that sometimes need to be learned based on a first hand lesson. However, do remember that the first goal of college is to learn. Study hard and don't base your grades off of anyone else's. Do NOT be afraid to get help at the first sign of trouble. Lectures wait on no one so as soon as you think you might be slipping, get help to avoid playing catch up. Don't be afraid to miss the big party school should always come first, and it's definitely NOT uncool or lame to stay in on a Friday or Saturday night.

    Bang for the buck

Out of state tuition is a bit pricey. A lot of my friends live further from Clemson than I do, but get to pay a little more than half of what I pay.

    Am enjoying being here

Clemson's entire atmosphere is one that is above the rest. From the football games, to the basketball games, Clemson crew, or FCA--Fellowship of Christian Athletes, there is something for everyone, participators and bystanders alike. Clemson's campus may seem large on foot, but everything is reasonably distanced from other places. If you don't want to walk, a 24 hour transportation is provided at no charge to you. With the money you don't spend, you could spend it on a book. Or you could just walk down to Cooper Library and borrow it. Along the way, feel free to pull out your camera and take pictures of the beautiful scenery. You won't need the camera inside because most people spend enough time inside to remember what it looks like. from the most popular 4th, 5th, and 6th floor to the lower dungeon like basement floors for less distractions. The environment is very small, but it adds a very homely feeling to your surroundings in Clemson, no matter which part you are in.

    Am learning a lot

Not only do I learn a lot of material from the textbooks and outstanding professors, but Clemson teaches you how to manage your new independent life. It also reaffirms your basic fundamentals in school and out side of the classroom. You will be book smart, and also withhold an image that is worthy of the Clemson alumni status.

Great for these types of students

Clemson welcomes any and all students. If you feel that this University is for you, you will have that special moment where your heart tells you that Clemson University is the school for you.

    Tips for prospective students

Dear Prospective Students, Do you best at your college or university that you may be attending because any school means hard work. The degree you are trying to obtain will not be given to you, but instead you have to earn it. Attending college is the start of your new life; so use your advantages the best you may know how and make something of yourself. The world needs intelligent young women to continue making it a better place. Always strive for success and never give up.

    Am enjoying being here

Clemson University is a great college with much to offer. The campus is beautiful and spacious, the faculty, staff, and students are nice and regardless the situation you will feel at home.

    Am learning a lot

Adjusting from the high school atmosphere to the college life atmosphere was not easy but can be made successful. In high school things often seem to come to you easy and you barely have to study, you enjoy and spend a lot of time with your friends, completing homework and assignments would not have taken much of your time, and things were pretty much handed to you. But, in college, and that being any college you attend, things are different. In college you are an adult and pretty much make your own rules and schedule. You decide what classes you are going to take and when you will take those classes. You have to learn how to balance your academics and social life and that is one thing that I have learned from my first year attending college. Time management is a big deal and should be practiced daily when in college. You have to study and not procrastinate which is another task you will learn if you have not already. So you will learn a lot that being learning the campus to learning how to study the proper way for a task. Nothing will be given to you and what you receive you will earn.

Great for these types of students

Great for students with any type of science major and for students who do not want to go to school in the middle of a big city. In Clemson, a five minutes drive from campus will take you into corn fields and cow pastures! A great country living scene

    Tips for prospective students

Apply Early! The earlier you apply, the better chance you will have of getting accepted, especially if you do not have an exceptionally high GPA and SAT score. Also, housing priority is determined by your application date to the university, not your application to housing date. So the earlier you apply, the better chance you will have of getting into the dorm you want. In my opinion, Clemson House is the best, as far as room size and living conditions. And they have a dining hall on the first floor!

    Bang for the buck

Clemson University may be a little more pricey compared to other college and universities in the state, but for the bang for the buck, you are getting a lot. Clemson degrees are very prestigious to have and are very valuable. Clemson is one of the most prestigious schools in South Carolina so paying a little more for that is a really good investment to make.

    Am enjoying being here

Being a student as Clemson has been a blast so far! There is always so much going on around campus and there is never a time where their is nothing to do. As far as sports, numerous times during the week there is a sporting event going on such as football, basketball, or even tennis and soccer. If you don't like sports, there are many other things to do. On Friday and Saturday nights, they usually have free movies playing in the Hendrix Theater with free popcorn! There's also the downtown strip which has a variety of good restaurants and many exciting stores. And best thing on it all, everything is no more than 15 minutes walking distance around campus. Of course, if you don't want to walk, you could catch a ride on the CAT (Clemson Area Transit) bus to get you around campus! Clemson also does a good job of advertising all the events to the students by sending weekly emails of everything that is going on around campus for the week.

    Am learning a lot

I have learned so much being at Clemson University and from just one semester. From the great textbooks the professors choose to the professors themselves that are so eager to help you learn. However, like every college or university, there are going to be some professors that are better than others, but overall, at Clemson, the professors are really great. Clemson also offers academic help in so many ways. They have the Academic Success Center in the library which is fully dedicated to helping you succeed academically and offers tutors in almost every subject. Then they have the SIs (Student Instructors) that sit in your class to know exactly what is going on and offer sessions during the week to provide help on the material (tutoring). So pretty much there is no excuse for not getting help if you are having trouble academically and you attend Clemson. I have learned so much so far and cannot wait to learn more!

Great for these types of students

Clemson is great for those who loves sports. It isa crucial part of college life and culture here at Clemson. And you have to like orange.

    Tips for prospective students

Buy more than one outfit of orange. Apply early for housing priority. Put money on tiger stripe.

    Bang for the buck

Even with a scholarship it is still pricey. But Clemson includes a lot of things in your tuition. They don't nickel and dime you once you get here. I haven't had to pay for many things on campus once I got here. Most of it is included.

    Am enjoying being here

College is the best part of my life so far. I have met so many great people who I know will be in my life far down the road. Football Saturdays are something that no one can describe but many people try to. There are a lot more opportunities to do things than I thought there were going to be, since it is in the middle of nowhere, but I am pleasantly surprised. I have not had one day where I haven't wanted to be here.

    Am learning a lot

Learning would not be the word I would choose. I would use being bombarded with so much information you head explodes. I am in the Architecture program and I am just being thrown in to the field with a very thin life preserver, which would be that everyone else is in the same boat. There is so much information and they don't watte time immersing you in the field. It is so interesting and quite intimidating at the same time.

Great for these types of students

This school is wonderful for students who don't mind an academic challenge and feel very self-driven. I actually wanted classes of 20 or so students when I first started looking for schools in high school. I have classes with 300+ students in it. As long as you sit at the front, you don't notice at all. Also, this school is great for students that want to be involved in school, but it also allows you to just be a face in the crowd if that is what you prefer.

    Tips for prospective students

Visit the campus. Clemson has tours all the time. Call and find out everything you need to know about touring. Also, you can make appointments with the dean of the college you are considering going into. Just come visit. There's no way to know whether this school is for you until you come here.

    Bang for the buck

Clemson doesn't have the best scholarship program, so if you want to come here, start looking for outside help.

    Am enjoying being here

The setting of Clemson is perfect for me. It is large enough for me to find my niche without having to be fake or not myself.

    Am learning a lot

Clemson University is a great school! The students are friendly and the professors are incredibly willing to work with you!

    Campus Safety

We have things like the CAT buses who will take you pretty much anywhere you need to go. There are blue emergency lights where you can report an emergency all over campus. My favorite is Tiger Transit which you can call anytime between 6PM and 6AM to get a safe ride somewhere across campus like to your car.

    Clubs and Activities

There are so many clubs and activities to become involved with, and if you can't find one that you like, you can always make up your own.

Great for these types of students

Clemson is great for any type of student.

Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus

There are many traditions on Clemson's campus depending on what groups you join. One that we all share is when we go to an away game, we take 2 dollar bills stamped with Clemson paws that we spend in the city of the away game. Some of the favorite locations on campus are Fike (our gym), the amphitheater (where we hold a lot of group functions), and everyone loves the lake.

    Bang for the buck

While Clemson is rather expensive for a public university, I don't know anyone who doesn't fall completely in love with it. Even visitors from our rival school, the University of South Carolina, have to admit that it is a beautiful place and they love coming to it, except for having to see all of our team spirit everywhere.

    What to do for fun

Clemson has many things to do. There are always sports going on. You can join intramural, club, or varsity sports. There are many clubs and leisure skill classes you can take. Clemson also has random activities that they send you emails about. Last December, Clemson even went to the extent to set up an ice skating rink right on campus.

    Food and Dining

When I first came to Clemson, I was so scared that the food was going to be disgusting because I had been to other colleges/universities and the food just wasn't good. Clemson has great food and many options to choose from. The dining halls are always clean and the staff is very nice.

    Dorm Life

Dorm life at Clemson is great! I live in a four person suite in Holmes Hall and its one of the best dorms of its kind that I've seen at any other colleges/universities I have visited.

    Academic Rigor

While most high school students think that college is all about the partying, they're wrong. You can't survive in college if you don't study. The classes at Clemson can be difficult and challenging, but they can also be extremely fun.

    Tips for prospective students

Clemson is a great college choice. They have many safety precautions and aid whenever it is needed. Clemson has so much to offer its students and should really be checked into. There is also nothing like a game in Death Valley!

    In three sentences

Clemson has a beautiful campus, and has so many things to offer its students. Clemson also has a staff that is always willing to help its students. Most of all, Clemson makes you feel at home and the bond between fellow students and faculty members feels like family.

Great for these types of students

Clemson is great for those in Engineering majors and Science majors as well. Other majors have great programs too. If you love the outdoors, there is a lot to see here. There is plenty to do outside, and a botanical garden is just across the street! Those who love sports will love going to the games as well. They are a huge event and a blast to go to. Regardless, I think anyone will love going to Clemson.

    Tips for prospective students

Don't be afraid to try new things. There are plenty of people here that would love to be friends, so just go out and meet them! Make good friends and they will stick with you in the good and bad times. Exam week isn't as bad as you would think either. There are plenty of stress relievers and fun things to do. Don't be afraid to ask for help either! People are more than ready to listen. Good luck, and I hope to see you on campus!

    Bang for the buck

Compared to the price of other colleges in the state, Clemson is a very good deal. After coming to the school, I have to agree. With the combination of classes and all of the extra services offered, the price is fair.

    Am enjoying being here

I can't even imagine going to another college now. Clemson is gorgeous, and I believe it is an ideal campus. The buildings look nice, and the surrounding parts of campus are ecologically friendly. There are tree lined walkways, flowing fountains, and relaxing fields. The dining hall food is also good too, and that's coming from a picky eater! There is always something to do at Clemson, whether it is study, relax, play a sport, explore the gardens, watch a game, hang out with friends, or shop downtown. Clemson is a once in a lifetime experience.

    Am learning a lot

I am going to admit that classes are harder than I expected from high school. They are excellent, however, and I am learning a lot of information. The professors use different teaching methods, such as textbooks, lecture books, worksheets, projectors, Microsoft Power Point, and some even write on a computer screen that is projected for all to see. I would highly recommend this school. There are many different classes to take, and are worth your while.

    Tips for prospective students

If you want a beautiful campus and a student population that is big, but not big, and every one is friendly, then Clemson is perfect. If Clemson offers your major then more than likely it is an excellent program. I have not heard one complaint from anybody in any major.

    Bang for the buck

Like I said I would never chose anywhere else, no matter the cost. In-state tuition is still pretty pricey but for the university, worth every penny.

    Am enjoying being here

I honestly would never choose a different school. Every one is extremely nice and helpful. You can start talking to a random person and 9 times out of 10 they will be just as friendly back. The campus is absolutely gorgeous. Classes are usually fun and really informative. I personally have to suggest Greek life, best decision I made here was joining Phi Sigma Kappa fraternity.

    Am learning a lot

Most of the professors here are excellent. Like any other college though you are going to have a few in each course that aren't too great. But there are more good than bad so if you talk to older students and avoid the few, then you'll be golden.

If you love a small town atmosphere but want to go to a school with a lot of people, Clemson is right for you. It seems like it's out in the middle of nowhere, but it has everything you ever wanted.

    Tips for prospective students

Wait until classes start before you buy your books. Some professors don't require them, or you'll hardly use them. Then you can find a friend to pitch in and either share a book or not get one at all. Believe me, it'll save you some money.

    Bang for the buck

Through all the scholarships offered as an in-state student, and the deals you get on textbooks and school supplies it's definitely worth attending.

    Am enjoying being here

I think Clemson is one of my favorite places. They say South Carolina has Smiling Faces, Beautiful Places and it's true. The people here are great, and the town is very homey. Between the people and the fun sporting events, there's never a dull moment!

    Am learning a lot

I feel like I'm soaking up knowledge, not only from the classes but from my peers as well. The environment at Clemson is very studious. The people are here to help you strive to learn, and in return you feel smarter!

I am learning things that we never covered in high school. The calculus and science classes here are wonderful. They have expanded my knowledge in these areas beyond what I ever thought was possible. I love math and science and this is a great University.

Clemson is a rare school that has the best of both worlds. It is a big school with the large fun atmosphere of tailgating like you have never seen, and incredible football games that are hard to not get pumped about. But Clemson also has the feel of a close, small community. If you are a tiger, you will be welcomed with arms wide open by all of the fellow tigers!

Great for these types of students

Anyone really, as long as they don't want to just mess around or are looking for a huge city life.

    Tips for prospective students

Start early!!! Look for scholarships early, and have as much extra-curricular activities and work experience as possible without your grades lowering. Try going for programs at Clemson before you actually attend. It really helps.

    Bang for the buck

Clemson seems pricey compared to other in-state colleges, but they have some of the best possibilities to allow you to pay back the debts. The guidance program is really strong, so if help is needed, just ask. However, if you're not in Clemson yet, it really is hard to get a scholarship from them unless you have a really nice record in high school.

    Will enjoy being here

The extra-activities Clemson has to offer are amazing! They allow you great deals to see games (if you sign up early enough, you can get tickets free!) You can join their sports teams officially, or just play on one of their temporary ones. Their fun classes can range from music to belly-dancing! Advice I got was to try as many new things as possible (because you won't have as much time when you're out in the work force).

    Will learn a lot

The classes there range from massive to around 20 seats. Everyone is so focused, but still know how to have fun. The students there really do learn how to manage on their own, but learn when to ask for help. They also form their friends for life there as well. One of the most important things they learn there is how to manage their time!!! They have to decide when they can play around and when they have to get down and work.

Great for these types of students

Anyone that loves unity, sportsmanship, fun, life changing experience in a small town where everybody knows everybody.

    Tips for prospective students

Be prepared to work hard, harder than you ever have before bit the reward here is so much greater than the feeling you got walking across stage at your graduation. Be open to new experiences and welcome constant change but overall you will get the feeling of unity.

    Bang for the buck

Although tuition may seem high to attend this university it is completely worth it you get access to anything you may need at any time you need it the library is open 24 hours a day 6 days a week. They also take time to meet the needs and wants of the students with dining hall menus, housing, and handout spots on campus including fast foot establishments.

    Am enjoying being here

I LOVE the social and academic life here especially the sorority life here everyone no matter who you are are EXTREMELY friendly. I made a lot of lifetime friendships with both other students and professors while being here. I absolutely love the environment here especially around football and basketball season the fans and students are dedicated to making each season truly memorable.

    Am learning a lot

Whenever you first get here you feel as though you know everything there is to know about college but since being here, I have learned A LOT professors not only teach you inside the classroom they also build a relationship outside the classroom the closer you become with professors the more they are able to help.

    Excellent!

    Greek Life

Tiger Transit is very helpful, it runs from 6-6; when it isn't running, the CAT busses are. There are also the safety boxes all around campus where all you have to do is press a button if you feel like you may be in danger. Definitely one of the safest campuses out there!

    Greek Life

Greek Life is pretty big at Clemson. They don't just party all the time, but do a great deal of philanthropic work too so a ton of money is raised for many great causes.

    Clubs and Activities

There are so many opportunities and activities that literally anyone can find something they will enjoy.

Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus

Clemson has a secret book, the blood bowl vs. USC, $2 bills for away games, a student created bucket list, and of course TIGER RAG and HOWARD'S ROCK!

    What to do for fun

You can work out at Fike, boat, fish, or waterski on Lake Hartwell, tan, play volleyball, or attend concerts on Y beach, there's always somewhere you can hike, explore the botanical gardens, bowl in the union, do something fun on Bowman Field with your friends, go downtown and shop, eat, or drink, go out and party, go to any athletic sporting event, and especially attend every home football game and even travel to some away games! Literally anything you can think of, you can make it happen here!

    Food and Dining

Dining halls are okay, but hey they are dining halls so we can't complain too much. But you can always go downtown for food, even Hendrix, there's options all over and they're pretty reasonably priced.

    Dorm Life

There are so many living options and living in different places are the best ways to meet new people. The dorms are pretty well kept; the shoeboxes aren't that bad, it would just suck to get overflow housing. There is also Clemson house though, which once was a hotel. It's awesome living on campus.

    Academic Rigor

Great school, students are serious about their education. Engineering and architecture majors work extra hard. However, everyone still finds time to enjoy themselves.

    Tips for prospective students

APPLY TO CLEMSON, it'll be the best decision you've ever made!

    Campus Safety

Clemson is tucked away in a rural suburb of the not-too-large city of Anderson. Campus police operate 24/7 and maintain constant vigilance over the campus and surrounding areas.

    Greek Life

I, personally, am a member of Tau Kappa Epsilon fraternity on campus. Ask about us, we're well known around campus and around the world. As for Greek life in general, over 30% of students here are involved in Greek Life.

    Clubs and Activities

There are over 400 clubs here at Clemson, including interests as diverse as mountain climbing, off-road vehicles,

Great for these types of students

If you are looking to be an engineer or scientist, come here. The facilities are incredible, the professors are knowledgeable and helpful (and speak English quite well, I might add), and the students are all of a high caliber in their respective fields.

Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus

In front of Tillman Hall, there is a copper statue of Thomas Green Clemson. On it are written words - I know not what words, exactly, because there is an old curse which says that whoever reads the plaque will not graduate. Many students read it on the way to graduation, as a sort of rite of passage for having survived and succeeded at Clemson.

    Bang for the buck

A Clemson education is a huge accomplishment with a surprisingly low cost. It has been rated in The Princeton Review's top 150 Best Colleges for at least three years and continues to remain on the cutting edge of science and engineering research in America.

    What to do for fun

Bowman Field in front of Tillman Hall, the clock tower and education building, has a huge (as in, multiple hundreds of square yards huge) grassy area open for anyone to do pretty much whatever they want. I've seen everything from football, soccer and volleyball (at the same time) to LARP (Live-Action Role Play) on that field. As mentioned before, there are also over 400 clubs to keep you busy as well as a heavy course load. Outside the university, there is Lake Hartwell (which the University actually is part of the shoreline for - did I mention that tidbit?) which is a fully functioning lake with fishing, boating of all kinds, and camping available.

    Food and Dining

There's variety, there's edible food, but at the end of the day, they are making food for thousands of kids. Learn the rush times and go around them; it leads to superior food quality and taste as well as a much more pleasant staff.

    Dorm Life

I lived in a dorm for my first two years of Clemson. Freshman year was my first real time away from home for any length of time and I made an unbelievable amount of friends

    Academic Rigor

Clemson has been a top-25 ranked school for several years running. As a Material Science and Engineering student, I can attest to the rigor of the programs here at Clemson.

    Tips for prospective students

    1) Go to class. Seriously. I know the hills are atrocious and the weather can't make its mind up, but if you don't go to class, you won't be going to Clemson very long. 2) Take classes that suit your normal routine. If you are a morning person, go for morning classes. Personally, I am quite the opposite, and do not have a single class before 11 AM. 3) Do what you love. If not, it's going to be a long four years full of disappointment and a potentially unhappy career. 4) If you even consider coming here, don't worry about T-shirts. Seriously, I got 14 shirts my freshman year. They were all orange. I loved it. 5) Be yourself. At Clemson, there is something for everyone - we have a huge Greek presence, intramural sports thrive, and there are over 400 clubs already in place, many for little to no cost of operation beyond equipment. 6) Finally, just learn to go with the flow. At Clemson, making friends is easy, and you'll find your comfortable niche relatively soon. From there, the horizons are only what you set them to be.

    In three sentences

Clemson make four years seem like four weeks - once you get here, you never want to leave. The culture here is bubbling over with enthusiasm for everything from the arts to zoology (and for once, that isn't a simplistic advertising platitude). As soon as you take that first step onto the campus, you will fall in love with the sheer beauty of the campus and the easy Carolina smiles that grace everyone's face.

    Campus Safety

No matter where you go there are emergency boxes and there are patrolmen roaming the campus. We have real police from the Clemson Community that help keep us safe. You can ride the Catbus free anywhere on and off campus or you can call security for escorts at night if you have a late class and don't want to walk home alone. You will feel very safe at Clemson.

    Greek Life

Greek life is big at Clemson but be prepared to spend a lot of extra money to be involved.

    Clubs and Activities

There are over 300 clubs you can join and several activities that do not include formally joining a club. There is always something going on on campus so you will never be bored.

Great for these types of students

This university is great for any kind of student. No matter where you are from or where you want to go Clemson is the place to be.

Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus

The Clemson football team drives all the way around the stadium for every home game and then they each touch a rock before running down the hill into Death Valley!!!!

    Bang for the buck

College is life is as good as you make it. Make friends, study hard, and stay in touch with your parents because they love you worry about you. It isn't cool just to call them when you need something. You are spending a lot of money for your education no matter where you go so always remember that is the #1 reason you are there.

    What to do for fun

A lot of what you pick for fun depends on what you like. There are over 300 groups to choose from so there is something for everyone. I joined Central Spirit so I could be involved with the many sporting activities on campus. I am also doing Habitat for Humanity with my Living Learning Community. The campus has a bowling alley, a movie theater a couple of gyms, the botanical gardens is within walking distance as well. There are also intramural sports you can get involved in.

    Food and Dining

As a freshman you will want to get the all access dining plan. You have 3 dining halls to choose from, each offers different menus and you can use your paw points that come with the plan to eat at many of the canteens and fast food places on campus. On top of the mealplan you may want to bring some snacks and quick meals from home for the times when you have early classes or miss the dining halls because of events or whatever. I have only missed out once and was so glad my mother had packed me a goodie box!!

    Dorm Life

Dorm life is awesome!! The rooms are small but you are hardly ever in them so it really doesn't matter. I suggest getting the loft bed because it gives you a whole lot more room for storage and for chairs, TV, microfridge, etc. Get to know the people on your floor and in your whole dorm, you can't have too many friends and it is a great way to network as well. My floor has 1 room that we all meet in to do homework and then we meet in my room for TV, videos, etc. Everyone respects each others stuff and we keep up with our homework and have some time to ourselves.

    Academic Rigor

The classes are challenging but not so hard that I feel overwhelmed and there are plenty of Supplemental Instruction sessions for you to attend if you are having trouble with something. Clemson really wants their students to succeed so if you are stumbling it is because you have not taken advantage of the many opportunities for help.

    Tips for prospective students

The best tip I can give is to join a Living Learning Community. Everyone in it has the same goal you do and everyone helps each other with homework and any problems you may by having. As a freshman I think it was the best decision I made because it is keeping me on track with my studies and I am still finding time to enjoy other activities. I also suggest joining IPTAY so you have a chance at scoring decent tickets for the sporting events.

    In three sentences

Clemson feels like home away from home. Lots of support from fellow students and teachers with academics. There are always activities to keep you busy.

    What to do for fun

During football season you'll have plenty of opportunities for fun. However, Clemson also is surrounded by tons of natural beauty and has great places to camp and hike, bike and run, or just sit out and enjoy your surroundings.

    Tips for prospective students

Make sure you score well on SAT or ACT scores and develop a strong GPA. I'd also suggest touring the school so you can get a good feel for if Clemson is the school for you.

    In three sentences

Clemson is a big school with a small school atmosphere, except on game day that is. Clemson provides many different learning opportunities for people of all interests and backgrounds. Clemson is a loving community full of fun and supportive faculty, staff, and students.

    Bang for the buck

If you're instate, pretty good. If you're not, well, why are you even considering here?

    What to do for fun

    . . . nothing, really.

    Food and Dining

The dining halls are not as bad as everyone says they are, but they're not fantastic. There are menus online and you eventually figure . We did finally get a Starbucks on campus though.

    Dorm Life

I lived in Clemson House, which was great. But a lot of the older dorms aren't that good and if you don't fit in with the typical sorority/fraternity lifestyle you might not have that much fun in the dorms.

    Academic Rigor

Pretty much every class I've had has been challenging in some way or another, except maybe one or two. Some classes are just hard and some classes just ask a lot of you.

    Tips for prospective students

Take all of the gen eds your first year, and take a bunch of different kinds of courses, especially if you don't know your major. If you start taking a bunch of major specific classes your freshman year and decide something else is your calling, they may not transfer to a different college, well.

    In three sentences

Clemson is a decent school, but humanities programs can be lacking. Sorority/Fraternity extracurricular take the stage, so have fun getting involved if you're not interested in them. All in all, it really hasn't been a bad experience though.

    Campus Safety

Well lit, and there's always people about at all times of the night. Although there was once a mountain lion spotted on campus...

    Clubs and Activities

There is (literally) a club for everyone. If you're interested in it, there's bound to be someone else who is as well, and they've probably already started a club! Make sure to check out the organization fairs during orientation and the beginning of each semester!

    Bang for the buck

Great community. People who went to Clemson support others who attended, simply by merit of the fact that they are also a Tiger. A prestigious, top 25 university with great academics and facilties.

    What to do for fun

Clemson is a small town, so don't expect there to be much going on in the town itself (unless you're over 21). There is, however, fantastic hiking, lots of opportunity to get out and enjoy Lake Hartwell, and there is always some sort of concert, event, or dance going on on campus.

    Food and Dining

On campus is decent, but there are several fabulous places to eat just off campus.

    Dorm Life

Dorm availability and condition is improving!

    Academic Rigor

I can only speak for the Ag and Science departments, but the courses are generally fairly rigorous.

    Tips for prospective students

Apply early, become familiar with the faculty and staff in the department to which you're applying, and ALWAYS be polite. You never know who might be able to give your application that little extra push it needs. Also, plan on the financial aid department taking a long time to process payments, loans, etc. Don't wait until the last minute to pay your bill, file your FAFSA, or apply for aid!

    In three sentences

Clemson University provides a great community for students, with activities and study opportunities for every area of interest. Those who have graduated from Clemson will tell you that the Tigers are indeed a family; meeting others from Clemson provides a unique bond that is great for networking and making new friends, even after you've graduated. Aside from the University, the small-town feel and proximity to Lake Hartwell and the gorgeous Blue Ridge mountains are definitely a plus.

Always feel safe because of the many red buttons all over campus for setting alarms if walking around. The dorms have keys and have people at front desk looking out for us.

    Greek Life

Rush is in the Fall. There has been a higher number of students rushing in recent few years.

    Clubs and Activities

Other than sports, there are singing groups, and plenty of volunteer opportunities.

Great for these types of students

Outgoing, athletic, nerdy, just about any kind.

Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus

The football players all touch a rock on the way into the stadium. The Clemson cheer is unique. Marching band is huge and does a great half time show. Other sports like baseball are awesome too.

    Bang for the buck

State school so tuition is not as high as some private schools, especially when compared to Northeastern schools.

    What to do for fun

Greek life is lots of fun. Gym is good to work out. Great places to walk with lots of open areas. Near lake so water activities. Lots of outdoor cafes and things to do outside, which is fun in the south with winter being shorter.

    Food and Dining

Cafeterias have stir fry bars, all kinds of fresh food plus lots of choices at the grill.

    Dorm Life

Being closer to class makes it easy to get there on time. Also have safety buttons all over the place in case studying late at night in the library and have to walk home. There is a free bus, but living on campus helps avoid traffic at football games.

    Academic Rigor

Difficult engineering program. Not as difficult for some other majors.

    Tips for prospective students

Visit and take the tour in person if you can. Check website to see the many activities, clubs and special interest groups you can join. Live on campus first year.

    In three sentences

Awesome school spirit. Great campus life in small town. Love the engineering program.

Go out for a walk in downtown with friends, bowling, or even join the skydiving club. There is always something to do you just need to put yourself out there and enjoy yourself.

Clemson offers an awesome all you can eat buffet all day everyday. All I can say is be careful with gaining the freshman fifteen, it can sneak up on you quick!

    Dorm Life

Depends where you live but try and make the most out of it. It will have its ups and downs but eventually you'll get the hang of it.

    Academic Rigor

I would not recommend the engineering program in Clemson. I started out in that and was very stressed for my freshman year. Make sure you find a major that you love and not for the money.

    Tips for prospective students

Make sure you make time for your studies. Don't worry about missing on socializing because it will always be available. Also go on rate my professor to see how hard your classes will be.

Campus safety is taken very seriously and I find that most students are trustworthy and display genuine Southern hospitality.

    Greek Life

There is a large Greek presence on campus but it's definitely not the only thing to do.

    Clubs and Activities

If you can't find something to get involved in then you aren't looking! There is an extensive number of groups, clubs, and intramurals to join and if you can't find something you like just make your own!

Great for these types of students

If you're looking for a place to find yourself, here it is! There's a diverse group of students on campus and your sure to find a place where you fit in.

Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus

There are traditions like Solid Orange Fridays and touching Howards Rock at the football stadium. Everyone loves Bowman Field (everyone hangs out there). And there are many others that I am yet to experience!

    Bang for the buck

Overall, you get a good value for your education. However, the expense of books, course materials, and other necessities really add up.

    What to do for fun

There are countless clubs and organizations to be involved in and there are almost always free events to go to during the week. And of course, football games and athletic events are a must!

    Food and Dining

The meal plan is great and there is usually a wide variety of things to choose from. Just be aware of the large number of coming in at the busiest parts of the day.

Great for these types of students

Outdoorsy, engineering, agriculture, fun, outgoing, up for anything. Everyone can find something they like here.

    Tips for prospective students

Learn how to study. Your freshman year, find the clubs you love the most and stick with those. Having more than two clubs becomes demanding. Buy an umbrella; it rains a good bit here. Go to games of all sorts. Make lots of friends; these people will be your friends for life. If you are in state, many people from your old school will probably be here but try and make friends outside your comfort zone before you hang with the people you know. Get involved in a church. Apply for many scholarships! Note to students: The chemistry department sucks (when it comes to lab). If you need to take chemsitry, unless you are planning on majoring in chem, take it somewhere else like a tech school.

    Bang for the buck

It is South Carolina's most expensive public school right now. Out of state is crazy expensive. I do wish it was cheaper but I am willing to pay to go to school here.

    Am enjoying being here

I love it here. The campus is gorgeous and the weather is beautiful. You can see the mountains from some places. There are trees everywhere. We do get some snow but we also can get in the upper 90s in the summer and fall. I love on campus and I love the atmosphere. I would not go anywhere else.

    Am learning a lot

The professors do expect a lot from you but that is expected from any good university. The teachers all have different teaching styles so you have to adjust to different styles of learning. There are also many resources for free tutors and study groups.

    Food and Dining

I have no experience with the food and dining due to the fact that i am a out of state transfer student. Through research I have heard that the facility is given a above average rating. This is because of the availability and and selection of the food and services.

    Dorm Life

I have no experience with On-Campus living because I am from out of state but I have heard through word of mouth that the dorms feel like a large family. This is because of the location of the dorms they are in the center of campus and only a short walk to where you need to go. Also many of the students hang out together in the dorms which also makes it more of a family atmosphere.

    Academic Rigor

Through research and talking to former students I have seen that Clemson is rated well above average academically due to the fact of the class sizes that are relatively small. Also the work load is set right for the students to successfully achieve their goals.

The campus is fairly safe. I hear the police aren't the nicest, and you can't always see an emergency light post from the vantage of another one as you're supposed to, but the student patrol are all over the place. There's even Tiger Transit which will pick you up if you feel unsafe going from one place to the other.

    Greek Life

I don't like Greek Life, but for those that do, there's a lot of that at Clemson. I think they're adding a third Greek village soon, but don't hold me to that. My knowledge is limited.

    Clubs and Activities

Like I said, all clubs imaginable.

Great for these types of students

Athletic, nerdy, lazy, smart. I can't think of a type of student that wouldn't fit in here.

Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus

We all wear orange on Friday. Honestly, people really only do that the first half of first semester.

    Bang for the buck

Bowling and movies. A lot of movies can be seen for free if you get you ticket early enough, but there's always a line.

    What to do for fun

There's all sorts of clubs imaginable. My friends and I just play Dungeons and Dragons all the time, but we sometimes play Manhunt (hide-and-seek for grown-ups). There's a rock wall in Fike, the gym. There is bowling and pool in the Union, and a shoddy arcade there, too.

    Food and Dining

Eh. The food could be better. I know this sounds bad, but there's a lot of special ed. people working in the dining hall I go to as well. Most of them are nice, but there's one that is the moodiest person I've ever seen. She'll take your food when you're not done eating and she implied that my friend was going to hell because she died her hair. She really likes to get in your space while you're eating and will sometimes mumble things about you. She angrily threw my friend's beanie on the seat next to me one time, too. It was very awkward. Other than that, and the bug that someone found in their food one time, Harcombe isn't all that bad.

    Dorm Life

I lucked out with my living-learning community. Everyone there is great. Not everything works all the time in the Shoeboxes where I live (air, locks, sinks), but there's people who fix that when you need it.

    Academic Rigor

Some of the classes I have had to take are very difficult, but Clemson makes sure that there is plenty of help available.

    Tips for prospective students

If you need financial help, be sure to get it. There are many ways to do so around Clemson. Join clubs and make friends with all types of people. It's true with they say about deciding among having a social life, getting sleep, and keeping up in class. You can only have 2 of the 3. Choose wisely.

    In three sentences

The campus is the most beautiful of all the colleges I have visited. The classes are typically in a central location, rather than scattered around. It's kind of expensive, but you definitely get your money's worth.

    Bang for the buck

With the scholarships and grants I am getting, the price I have to pay for school is well worth it. Even compared to other colleges, under $20,000 a year is not that expensive.

    What to do for fun

There are many intramural sports to join along with many fields like Bowman to hang out with friends and throw a Frisbee. There are a lot of activities that go on during the week that you hear about through your email like movies and events in the student union.

    Food and Dining

The dining is completely overpriced. We were forced to get a food plan freshman year but I have not purchased one since. The dining halls were not open late enough and I had to purchase food from grocery stores anyways.

    Dorm Life

Your first year, you are in a dorm sharing with another person, then after that you are free to live wherever you want. Dorms freshman year allowed for meeting a lot of people. I enjoyed living in a dorm freshman year although I moved to an apartment after that.

    Academic Rigor

The classes are a challenge and of course there is a period where you have to adjust to the college lifestyle. Once you get into a groove of how you learn and study best, you will excel at this university.

    Tips for prospective students

    Campus Safety

Every campus has its issues with Campus safety, but I have lived in Clemson all my life, and I have always thought about Clemson as a safe area and a safe campus.

    Greek Life

It is everywhere at Clemson. However, you are not forced into which is great because you can choose what you do and what you do not do.

    Clubs and Activities

There are clubs for pretty much anything you can think of. Now, they have it where you can pretty much come up with a club if they do not already have it on-campus.

Great for these types of students

Any type of student can have a great experience at Clemson. Clemson has such a diverse group of students and environment that I believe anyone would make a great decision when choosing Clemson University as their home for 4 years.

Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus

Rubbing the Rock in Death Valley, Fike Recreation Center, Amphitheater, Pond in front of the Library, and Right on Lake Hartwell. Bowman Field, Tillman hall

    Bang for the buck

Clemson is not as hard on the wallet as some universities, and yet it is a well-known university that gives you a degree to be proud of.

    What to do for fun

Clemson Football games, Play games at Bowman Field, Intramurals, organizations, FCA, Clubs, Clemson Baseball games, Clemson Basketball Games, and much more

    Food and Dining

The food and Dinning could be worse, which I think Clemson University has one of the best Food and Dinning available. There is always a wide variety to choose from; However some of the food seems to be old at times, and can cause people to be grossed out. Overall, It's better than most, but not perfect.

    Dorm Life

The Dorms are small, but allow you to have a lot of one on one interactions with other classmates.

    Academic Rigor

You must make time to study for each class. Some classes are more enjoyable than other, and require more work. However, if you put in the effort you will receive the grades you are looking for.

    Tips for prospective students

Be ready for a great time. Sporting events are a real treat on the weekends, and the party scene is crazy. However, if you're just there for strictly academics, you will not be disappointed there either. The Professors are great, but do expect your best. The Professors try to get the best out of you, but that makes you a better person.

    What to do for fun

Tons of stuff! Unmarked frisbee golf courses on campus. Hiking, biking, climbing in the surrounding mountains. Swimming in Lake Hartwell, Keowee, or Jocasee or just going to some random waterfall in the nearby area. You can go to Greenville, Anderson, or Seneca for shopping, movies, going out to eat. On campus, there are concerts, live shows, organization fairs, organizational events/activities all the time. Clemson's campus is NOT a suitcase campus. Most students stick around on the weekends. We don't go home because we love Clemson too much! Also, there are plenty of athletic events to go to as well. You can always hang out with friends in a dorm room or at a friend's apartment off campus. You can watch a movie, have a game night, just chill, play cards, go out to eat (plenty of restaurants in Clemson), etc. There's always a ton of stuff you can go do.

    Food and Dining

Dining is mediocre. There are several options, but it gets old after a while. There are several food courts on campus, and those are always good to go to. However, you can't use your meal plan in the food courts.

    Dorm Life

The freshmen dorms are pretty old, so they're not the nicest things in the world. However, I loved living on the freshmen hall. It's so much fun. There's an awesome sense of camaraderie. Live on campus your first year of college if you can.

    Academic Rigor

The academics at Clemson are excellent. Clemson University is ranked 23rd in the nation in the Princeton Review. However, it's not like you won't have a social life. I have a 4.0 but am about the biggest extrovert you'll meet. By the way, my major is Civil Engineering.

    Tips for prospective students

Before you start classes your freshman year, make sure you walk around campus a couple days before classes begin so that you know which buildings your classes meet in and how to find those buildings. You're less likely to be late to the first day of class.

    In three sentences

The campus is beautiful. The athletics are great. The academics are outstanding - amazing!

    Campus Safety

Clemson takes the safety of its students very seriously. Over the years clemson has implemented things such as Tiger Transit which is a van system students can call after 7pm if they need a ride from some place on campus to another place or campus. There are also student patrol officers who walk around at night checking buildings and making sure nothing suspicious is going on around campus. Then of course there are campus police patrolling daily during the day and night and there are also video cameras located throughout campus.

One tradition I found Clemson had this year was throwing oranges on to bowman field during the orange bowl. It sounds weird but you would be surprised how covered the field gets it is a wonderful sight to see.

    Bang for the buck

I would say the best thing about clemson, is the unbeatable game days. I've never seen so much school spirit from not only the students but the surrounding city. Anywhere you go whether its on campus or downtown there are tailgaters everywhere, and once you walk in to the stadium the crowd is just wild. I can truly say game days are sacred at Clemson!

    What to do for fun

There is always something to do on campus, whether its a campus sponsored tournament, intramurals, bowling, ping pong and so much more on campus. If sports isn't your thing there are even video game and rc racing clubs.

    Food and Dining

The dining hall food isn't the best but it sure beats ramen noodles every night . There is a wide variety of food selections from salads to subs or even oriental. Every now and then theres something pretty good in the dining hall, but of course there is always the usual pizza and burger and fries.

    Dorm Life

Dorm life is not that bad, by the second day you are moved in most people on your hall are still getting to know everyone, because just like you they are starting somewhere foreign to them. Over time you learn to share your living space with others and you find that dorm life isn't so bad.

    Academic Rigor

Clemson is very respected in the nation and has some of the hardest classes you have ever taken. Some courses are a review o high school material while some are a mixture of both. All in all you will learn everything you need to and nothing less from classes at Clemson.

    Tips for prospective students

I would say the best thing for a prospective student to do is enhance your study habits. Start learning to how to manage your time because once you get to college you have to manage school work, a social life, and sleep, and all three are a very important aspect of a true college experience.

Great for these types of students

Clemson is great for those interested in sororities and fraternities and those who are athletic.

    What to do for fun

Most of the fun stuff is going to be from organizations or extracurriculars. WSBF puts on free shoes downtown all the time, and other organizations have events too. Really, there's not that much exciting going on unless you really immerse yourself.

    Food and Dining

Some people complain, but there's a pretty good selection of food at the dining halls usually. Schiletter has good vegetarian options and great pizza and Harcombe generally has pretty good grill food. Clemson House has a decent brunch.

    Dorm Life

ResLife tries to keep a lot going on, and the RA's are generally pretty chill unless you get stuck with a bad one. I never had any problems with neighbors or anything but some of the older dorms (i.e. Johnstone) are really bad off and should be avoided at all costs.

    Academic Rigor

Most classes are challenging, even in easier departments. Only a few classes are cake walks, and they tend to be classes for one of the more obscure Gen Ed requirements.

    Tips for prospective students

The campus is most definitely safe. Almost everybody knows everybody in a sense and even if someone doesn't know you, they are extremely nice so its really a friendly environment.

    Food and Dining

Unless you eat a lot a lot, don't waste your money on the unlimited meal plan. A lot of the people I know that attend Clemson don't even get meal plans after their first year. It's possible to survive on campus without one. S/N: I had to eat at Harcombe for summer camp for 3 years straight. For people like me, its awesome because I love to eat. For some people, you might get tired of pizza and fries everyday.

    Dorm Life

The most important thing about dorms is get your applications in early if you are picky like me. The high rises are in my opinion the second best dorms for freshman aside from Clemson House which is where I will most likely be staying. If you think of it as semester by semester, its really not that bad at all and the community style dorms aren't horrible at all. It's about 8 people to a bathroom. If you here the word shoebox as if refers to a dorm, scream, holler and run in the opposite direction. I couldn't do it and I wouldn't recommend it to anyone else.

    Academic Rigor

To be honest, your academic success is what you make of it. You can make it hard or you can make it easy. It's up to you.

    Tips for prospective students

The most important thing is definitely keeping up with all of your deadlines especially when it comes to financial aid and classwork. Know how to manage your time extremely well because balancing a social life in high school is one thing but it is totally a different ball game in college.

    Food and Dining

The best places to eat are the fast food places. Often times the dining halls will just make you sick or will lack quality. Though the theme nights and different programs they have are always fun to go to.

Always utilize Tiger Transit services if you find yourself out late at night, coming from the library or a friends dorm.

    What to do for fun

There are over 300 clubs/organizations at Clemson so you have a variety of things to choose from. We also have a student union where pool tables, a bowling alley, and other games are located.

    Food and Dining

I don't recommend getting a meal plan after your freshman year. You are required your freshman year to purchase one but after that....you're probably going to be happier with out it. I don't agree with the cleanliness level at the dining halls and that's an important factor to me. I cook my own meals.

    Dorm Life

Dorm life depends on who you live with and where you decide to live. CHOOSE WISELY. If you don't mind sharing with a group of people then suites are for you. If you are more particular about sharing, go for the individual apartments on campus.

    Academic Rigor

The academics at Clemson are rigorous so do not expect hand outs from professors.

    Tips for prospective students

Focusing on studies and keeping in mind that you have a goal to reach is always the best reminder if you intend to graduate. Always take extra credit opportunities and pay attention in class. Try to have a rough schedule of how the day will go so you can get a decent amount of sleep. Being well rested is essential in college.

    In three sentences

Clemson is a great university that can prepare you to be efficient in the work force if you take advantage of the opportunities available. Great place if you like the outdoors - lake Hartwell, hiking, waterfalls, skiing nearby. Lots to do on campus as well. I like fitness so there is always something physical/athletic to do. You just have to reach out to find something you enjoy. I have heard that being in a learning community makes reaching out easier.

    Food and Dining

Lots of on campus options for dining and I plan to take advantage of all of them often. I esp. hope that the food is good at the Clemson House dorm if I get assigned there to live.

    Dorm Life

Clemson has a lot of good options for freshman and many learning communities from which to choose. I liked Clemson House the best when I toured so I'm hoping to get assigned there.

    Academic Rigor

Everything I have heard indicates that overall Clemson is academically rigorous and more so in selected academic programs like engineering and pre-professional studies. I haven't attended yet so I am going off from reputation and others comments.

    Tips for prospective students

    Campus Safety

Campus safety is very important here. They have programs that offer safe traveling to and from your classes as well as blue emergency lights around campus. There are always police patrolling the area.

    Greek Life

Clemson has a very large and active Greek life. There are around 49 different Fraternities and Sororities.

    Clubs and Activities

There is a club or organization to fit any person's interest. Some of the different categories for clubs include Creative/Performing Arts, Cultural/International, Governing, Honorary, Media, Political Activism, Professional/Academic/Dept, Religious/Faith, Service/Advocacy, Social Fraternity/Sorority, Special Interest, and Sports/Recreation.

Great for these types of students

Clemson is great for any student who knows what they want and are willing to work hard to achieve it. This school is not for people who plan on trying to get through by doing the bare minimum. It requires strength and dedication but the end result is well worth the long hours of studying.

    Bang for the buck

Clemson can be a little pricey but it is worth it in the long run. Students who graduate from here are very likely to find good paying jobs more quickly than if they had the same degree from another SC school. Employers know that graduates from Clemson have had to work very hard for their degree and are prepared to face any challenge that may come their way.

    What to do for fun

There are tons of clubs, organizations, and intramural sports teams offered through the University. Some of the different categories for clubs include Creative/Performing Arts, Cultural/International, Governing, Honorary, Media, Political Activism, Professional/Academic/Dept, Religious/Faith, Service/Advocacy, Social Fraternity/Sorority, Special Interest, and Sports/Recreation. There is something to suit anyone's interest, the only problem will be which one to choose! Also for fun, one organization, CLEMSONLiVE, which is a student-run entertainment board, plans a variety of free on-campus events throughout the year, including weekly movies, dances and concerts.

    Food and Dining

Clemson offers many different places to eat on campus. There are 13 places total, including a few dining halls, cafes, and a Chili's Too as well. They offer cuisine to suit pretty much any type of diet or satisfy any craving you may get while on campus.

    Dorm Life

I can't accurately rate the dorm life because I have never stayed in the dorms here at Clemson but based on what I've heard from friends, the dorm life is not bad at all. The different dorm halls are frequently throwing fun parties for students and having other types of socials as well.

    Academic Rigor

I give Clemson's academic rigor a 4-star rating rather than a 5-star because it is very challenging but I imagine there might still be a more challenging school out there (such as an Ivy League school). The professors expect students to take full advantage of all the out-side-of-class opportunities to help with their learning. While the professors are very knowledgeable of their subjects, they sometimes find it difficult to convey the information in a way that is easy to understand. Professors are always willing to meet with students outside of class to help explain topics, and there is also supplemental instruction, the academic success center, tutoring, and if all else fails, YouTube videos to help a student understand important concepts. This is not a school that can easily be passed without utilizing these opportunities and studying for hours.

    Tips for prospective students

You have to come into this school with a desire to learn and you have to be prepared to study, a lot. Clemson is not easy by any means but that is what makes getting a degree from here worth it.

    In three sentences

Clemson is a very challenging school where expectations of students is very high. The professors are incredibly knowledgeable of the subjects they are teaching & they exhibit a desire to see their students succeed. The Clemson campus is absolutely gorgeous and there are tons of extra curricular clubs and organizations to fit anyone's interest.

    Campus Safety

I have never once felt unsafe on Clemson's campus. I wouldn't say there are huge precautions to keep campus safe but really, I don't think they are that necessary. Clemson is a very safe and inviting campus.

    Clubs and Activities

There are clubs for almost anything you can imagine, and if there's not, you can always apply to start your own!

Great for these types of students

Clemson is great for students who have pride in their school, are interested in athletics, want an excellent education along with everything else that college has to offer, and love beautiful weather.

Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus

Clemson is full of traditions that everyone loves and takes pride in.

    What to do for fun

There are always things going on on campus. There are athletic events throughout the year. Of course tailgating and football games are what most everyone is doing on Saturdays in the Fall. In other seasons though there is basketball and baseball which lots of people enjoy. There are also events going on through on campus clubs that students can join, fraternities and sororities, and many other organizations. CLEMSONLiVE is an organization on campus that hosts free events for students several times a week that can usually be a very good time for students to enjoy. There are also places downtown that people like to go if they are 21 and there is Crocs for 18+ people that can be fun sometimes.

    Food and Dining

Dining, to me, is very hit or miss. Some days there are great choices that people really enjoy and other days the sandwich line may be quite long because there doesn't seem to be very many good choices. When the food is good, its good, but some days you wish they'd have better choices.

    Dorm Life

Dorm life can very from hall to hall and floor to floor. I lived in Holmes Hall, the honors college dorm for one year and I liked it pretty well. I did not develop relationships with people in my dorm as much as I would have liked but that is not true of other friends that I had that lived in Holmes or elsewhere. I think the dorm experience all depends on where you are placed and what you put into it. Overall, the dorm experience was pretty good and living on campus was extremely convenient.

    Academic Rigor

Clemson is an excellent nationally ranked university and therefore can be very rigorous. A student chooses their level of difficulty somewhat in their choice of major and subsequent choice of classes but it is my opinion that classes at Clemson are challenging but are manageable and will be very beneficial to your future career.

    In three sentences

Clemson is an amazing and beautiful place full of school spirit, friendly people, and nature's beauty. Clemson is a great university to get an amazing education and be pushed academically as well as get the full college experience outside of the classroom. Plus, nothing beats a Clemson football game in Death Valley!

    What to do for fun

There are all the outdoor sports of the mountains- climbing, mountain biking, hiking, bouldering, camping, white water rafting and kayaking, backpacking, and all the rest. CORE offers plenty of trips throughout the semester and easy access to all sorts of gear you might need to rent! There's a huge amount of Greek life going on around campus for social life. Plenty of fields for soccer, football, frisbee, or whatever else you can come up with. Tennis courts, volleyball nets, campus beach and all of Lake Hartwell. Lake Keowee and Lake Jocasse are nearby as well for more! Cliff jumping, flatwater kayaking, canoes, swimming or just enjoying some sun. There's countless clubs and organizations that let you get into anything you want, whether its indoors or out, business-like or not, with animals or without, adventurous or relaxing. The list goes on and on there's no fitting Clemson in a little box on the internet.

    Food and Dining

So mass food is never going to be great, but some of the staff in Harcombe and Schilleter are pretty friendly. The food is fresher somedays than others, and you can always tell if you just grabbed a leftover cookie. But there's a great amount of variety, and a big debate between which dining hall is better- its all personal preference!

    Dorm Life

Loved the dorms. I've made some lifelong friends, and I even lived in what's considered some of the worst dorms on campus. The shoeboxes really don't earn their terrible reputation, the community is great and anyone who has actually lived there wouldn't trade the experience for anything. Plus we got sinks in our rooms!

    Academic Rigor

Classes are tough- and its important to get to know your professors if you can. Big classes are intimidating and can be hard to focus in, but if you go to office hours and tutoring sessions, there will be no problem! It's like everyone says- college is hard.

    Tips for prospective students

It's important to explore everything the school can offer, take advantage of clubs and trips. The outdoor program is awesome if you're into that sort of thing. Also, Greek life plays a big role in the social life of Clemson and its fun to get involved! But if you're not looking to go Greek then all you have to do is put in the effort to explore a little. There are countless ways to meet people around campus and people here are so friendly and welcoming. Also- getting to know your professors on a bit more of a personal level will be to your advantage! Ask questions after class or go to office hours. You have to put in that extra effort with big freshman classes!

    In three sentences

The enrollment numbers were a little intimidating for me, but everyone knows everyone at Clemson. It really is such a tight knit community that literally has a niche for everyone. Greek life has a pretty loud voice on campus, but there is an entire world of clubs and student groups to join; you just have to make the commitment.

    Food and Dining

Better than most high school cafeteria food; however the dining halls do get to be a bit repetitive. The fix for that is downtown Clemson, which is just fifteen footsteps off campus and the few restaurants on campus.

    Dorm Life

Depending on where you live and with whom you are living with, dorm life can be wonderful or horrible. Just be sure to establish who you are with each person living with you and be respectful; people will give respect if given respect.

    Academic Rigor

The classes are designed to challenge every student in every possible way. There are plenty of opportunities to succeed and excel so long as the student is willing to work.

    Tips for prospective students

Be prepared to work, Clemson's professors will help any student with any work; however, they do expect the student to put forth effort in their class. Make the right friends; friends will either help you in your classes or they will drag you down. Always be polite and get to know each professor personally, they are more adept to help a student if they know who they are helping.

    In three sentences

Clemson University has a very beautiful campus and has a plethora of amazing professors that really strive to give each student the best education possible. The people around campus are always nice and will help anyone with just about anything. Clemson is all around a wonderful school with wonderful professors; I love it.

    Campus Safety

This is definitely one of the safest campuses I have been to. Its all about being smart, however, if you have to be out late, or put yourself in a dangerous situation, there are plenty of campus police available to assist you at anytime. Overall the tight-knit community makes it easy to stay safe.

    Food and Dining

I LOVE CLEMSON FOOD!!! Since my first time eating at Harcombe Dining Hall I have (literally) not been able to stomach the sheer disappointment in the food my high school has been serving me. Every day I spend of my senior year I find myself wishing for some good Clemson food.

    Dorm Life

The few times I have stayed in the dorms, I have to say I was not really impressed, but a few (like Clemson House) are really cool. The dorms are on campus which is nice, and are generally pretty clean which is a definite necessity.

    Academic Rigor

Clemson is a very challenging school in terms of public schools. I have been told that some of the classes are extremely easy, but most are pretty challenging. If you are someone who wants an even harder curriculum, shoot for Calhoun Honors College.

    Tips for prospective students

Keep your GPA up and your SAT score high. Clemson is selective, but it never hurts to apply even if you think you will not get in! Also, never think that just because you have a 1600 on the SAT or a 4.0 you will get in. Clemson seems to look a lot at extracurricular activities too.

    In three sentences

Clemson is the right school for absolutely anyone. Whether you want to go into nursing, engineering, or agriculture, Clemson University has it. You never have to change to fit the college's needs, they are constantly changing to fit yours.

    Bang for the buck

Clemson has fair tuition prices and prices all around. Out of state costs may seem a little high, but it is a top 25 public university, and one will see the costs pay off. Clemson's costs are fair since one is receiving a quality education, endless resources, and aluma network that is worth the costs.

    Food and Dining

The food is typical cafeteria food. While it may not be the best, Clemson is working to provide more nutritious options. Also, the staff is extremely nice and is willing to help you in any way they can.

    Dorm Life

Simply put, some dorms are better than others. Overall, they are clean, spacious, and have all of the essentials you could possibly need. All dorms are air conditioned as well.

At Clemson the academic rigor really depends on the major. However all classes are taught at a college level so they will move a little faster and go deeper than what your probably used to.

    Bang for the buck

Clemson is just an all around great school especially for science and math majors. It is in a beautiful area only about an hour and a half away from both Charlotte and Atlanta. There are plenty of things to do around here to keep busy!

    What to do for fun

Clemson offers quite a few different activities here and there. Between fitness classes at Fike, movies in the theater at Hendrix Hall, and the concerts and clubs, there's hardly any room to relax. Clemson may not have much of a city setting, but there are still plenty of things to do around here.

    Food and Dining

Clemson doesn't have the best food around here. You'll get a feel for which of the dining halls are better than the others. Schilletter Dining hall is great when you need a quick snack though Harcombe has plenty more options. Clemson House has a tiny dining hall on the ground floor which has the best brunch on Saturday's and Sunday's!

    Dorm Life

Dorm life is not just run-of-the-mill here. Living in a dorm gives us the opportunity to connect to other students and make friends quickly. The RA's are students just like us who are always ready to help with schoolwork and other conflicts. Living here in the dorms is just like living with family.

    Academic Rigor

Coming to Clemson is not like going into another year of high school. The courses are half as long here on the semester schedule, meaning twice as much information is covered in half the time. Keep up with your studies so you won't follow behind. Develop good study habits early.

    Tips for prospective students

Looking to come to Clemson? If so, I recommend not to bring your car your first semester! You won't need it, especially if you're living on campus. Sign up for clubs on Tiger Prowl, but not too many. Giving out your email can lead to a ton of spam from clubs you're not even interested in! Take advantage of Fike Recreation Center. They have all kinds of classes to keep us students in shape! Don't fall behind on your work.

One of the best things about Clemson is the safety here. There are buses that run until 6 pm and after that (until 6 am and free of charge) is Tiger Transit, a system that will pick you up where ever you are and take you to where you need to go.

Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus

Clemson is full of traditions and superstitions! From saving certain experiences until you graduate (if you don't, it's bad luck!) to Solid Orange Friday.

    What to do for fun

There's always Bowman, a field where you can gather and play frisbee or volleyball. Outside of my dorm there's a volleyball court. Fike (the gym) is always open and is full of great work out machines. There is almost always something going on.

    Food and Dining

There are many places to eat on campus and the two dining halls are not that bad. The staff there do their best to make you feel at home.

    Dorm Life

No dorm on campus is terrible, though some are certainly much better then others. My dorm has a open door policy which really helped me to make some great friends.

    Academic Rigor

All colleges are tough, but here at Clemson they strive to make sure every student that graduates is at the top and knows what they're doing. So, that means the classes reflect this and challenge students.

    Tips for prospective students

    Campus Safety

The campus is very safe, and it really does feel like a bubble that keeps intruders and anyone who's not a Clemson fan out of the town. There really are rarely any problems where the police get involved other than the usual alcohol poisoning, or the athletes experimenting with recreational drugs. Other than that, Clemson is a very safe town!

    Greek Life

Greek life really have most of the fun! A lot of the parties thrown in college are thrown by greek life and most people end up going greek while they're here. They really are all very close and committed to public service and they keep you motivated throughout your time here.

    Clubs and Activities

There is constantly something to do on campus whether you're a part of a club or not! There is definitely a club for everyone here and you'll be sure to find people who enjoy the same things you do!

Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus

Every year, the lake in the middle of campus is died orange to show Clemson spirit for football season!

    Food and Dining

Dining hall food is never anything college students usually brag about. There are three dining halls, and one that's pretty far away from the middle of campus has amazing brunch on Sundays! Other than that, it's pretty much typical cafeteria food, and if you're not careful, you'll gain the freshman fifteen before you know it!

    Dorm Life

There are many different types of dorms. They have the mostly athletic dorms, all girls and all boys dorms, greek housing, international housing, honors dorms, rotc dorms, and dorms for mainly freshman in certain programs that have to do with their majors. Most of the dorms are pretty close to clases, and even though some have communal bathrooms and can get a bit gross at times, the staff do their best to make it a safe, fairly clean living environment.

    Academic Rigor

Clemson's academics are not very hard, it's mostly just a lot of work piled on at once. It teaches students how to manage their time and how to become critical thinkers. Professors are almost always there for the students and are more than happy to help them and accomodate their needs!

    Tips for prospective students

I would definitely recommend Clemson to anyone who wants to go to school and have the typical college experience. Although it is in the south, which is usually very conservative, you will find that everyone at Clemson will show you what southern hospitality is all about!

We have a turfgrass major. I suppose they study assorted grasses. There is also a botanical garden which is lovely. Homecoming week is full of traditions; from the parade. to tiger roar, and the floats out on Bowman field. And of course, the most exciting 30 seconds of college football- when the team runs down the hill.

    Bang for the buck

The meal plan is a good deal, housing is a bit expensive compared to the off campus apartments, which are larger and less expensive, but there is plenty of off campus living for college students. Clemson really is a college town, there isn't much city life going on, but it is a beautiful, charming place. If you want to come to a little friendly, southern town with a good people and academics, come here! Especially if engineering or agriculture is your thing!

    What to do for fun

Greek life is big at Clemson, it seems like here is some function or formal every night that the girls on my hall are going to. In such a rural place, partying is what most kids do for fun on the weekends. Going downtown is also popular. Clemson provides many activities, as well, such as; free movies, cheap bowling, decorating activities, and other assorted fun throughout the year.

    Food and Dining

There are a decent amount of options, but those options rarely change, there also isn't much for a vegetarian to eat. The desserts are delicious though!

    Dorm Life

While sharing a bathroom with 16 other people isn't ideal, the people on my hall are really friendly, and it's easy to bond over walking up ten flights of stairs when the elevator is broken. We keep our doors open and talk to each other when we pass in the halls. The people on your floor really can become some of your good friends.

    Academic Rigor

As long as you attend class, and go over your material a few times before quizzes or tests, you should be able to succeed. Of course some classes and majors require more time and effort, but the teachers make the work fair and tolerable.

    Tips for prospective students

You should be prepared for a small, southern town, learn to understand those country accents, and leave the heavy winter coats at home. Welcome to the south. Go to class, get to know the students in your classes, and don't be afraid to talk to the professors. They may seem intimidating, but they really are nice and helpful!

    In three sentences

Clemson University is in a small, friendly town that has a lot of rural charm. The academics are the best in the state, and students get a lot out of the courses they take. The atmosphere is not only friendly, but challenging and satisfying.

    What to do for fun

You don't have to go very far to have fun in Clemson. Most of the time, all it takes is walking into the dining hall to find someone you know and having lunch with them. Downtown is also a nice little getaway. There is a bowling alley, ping pong tables, and plenty of places to watch television as well.

    Food and Dining

The dining hall is where you can frequently find friends and a large array of food. I love the atmosphere.

    Dorm Life

My dorm is clean and comfortable. While I expected having a roommate and sharing a bathroom with an entire hall of girls to be frustrating, I have found it to be an experience that has brought me closer to the friends I have met here.

    Academic Rigor

The professors take their courses seriously, while remaining compassionate about their students. I feel as though I am getting an above average education.

    Tips for prospective students

Prospective students should come with an open mind to meeting new people. Talk to everyone you see. Chances are they are looking for a friend, too.

    In three sentences

Clemson is such an inviting, beautiful, and homey place to be studying for my intended profession. Though I was extremely nervous about leaving home, I could not feel more comfortable and accepted than I do at my University. They go the extra mile to make Clemson an exceptional place to be.

Football season in the fall...enough said. Clemson has a great intramural program. There are nearby hiking and biking trails. Table Rock is a great climb. The campus is beautiful for a morning run or an evening stroll. Campus beach where students can swim, tan, kayak, or boat.

    Food and Dining

The cafeteria has a wide variety of stations that cater to different tastes, but the stations are very repetitive in their selections. Downtown Clemson has great dining options on a college budget. The campus also has a good selection of fast-food and coffee options.

    Dorm Life

The dorms are very community-oriented which helps students get to know their neighbors. They have card-access limited only to the students living there to provide safety. The dorms are nice.

    Academic Rigor

Every major is going to vary just as every student's academic abilities will. However, the classes at Clemson are designed to challenge students and provide a learning experience to last a lifetime. The classes at Clemson help students make decisions about what they want to do for the rest of their life.

    Tips for prospective students

Schedule a visit to the campus and take an official tour. Try to come visit for a football game or other sporting event, this way you can get a glimpse into the life of a Clemson tiger! Everyone is friendly so do not be afraid to ask anyone about their Clemson experience.

    Campus Safety

Clemson has a very safe campus because it is a college town with very little crime.

    Greek Life

Greek life at Clemson is huge because there are so many fraternities and sororities that can be joined. Rushing for fraternities is very fun because every frat throws huge open parties for a week straight at the beginning of every semester that anyone can go to and it helps people decide if they want to be in that frat or not.

    Clubs and Activities

There is a Club for pretty much anything at Clemson, and if there isn't one for some reason, you can make one as long as you have enough people wanting to start it up with you.

Great for these types of students

Great for students who work hard in school but also love to have fun on the weekends and at football games.

Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus

For every home football game the team runs down the hill in the stadium and touches Howard's rock for good luck and a cannon is fired. For homecoming all of the Fraternities and Sororities build floats on bowman field. That is only a few of the traditions at Clemson.

    Bang for the buck

Clemson is a great school with a beautiful campus, a huge football stadium, helpful teachers, and a ton of things to do! If you are in state tuition is very cheap, however, if you are out of state it can be kind of expensive but it still a great deal.

    What to do for fun

The bars in Clemson are all great! They have specials for everyday of the week and are very fun every time you go there (when you are 21 anyways). Gameday in Death Valley (Clemson's Football Stadium) is one of a kind and there is just an energy there that no other school has. Also joining clubs that you like is a great way to have fun with your friends.

    Food and Dining

The dining halls in Clemson are decent, but Harcombe definitely has more of a selection than Schilletter. They usually serve similar meals every week, but there are plenty of other places to go eat in town or on campus such as Chipotle, Moes, Chickfila, Zaxby's, and Chili's. The Tigerone card can be used at any of these places to get food fast and easily.

    Dorm Life

Dorm life in Clemson is pretty good, but some dorms are definitely better than others. Clemson house is one of the best dorms for freshman because you get a bigger room than other places and Johnstone is one of the worst because the walls are made of very thin metal and therefore you can hear everything your neighbors say or do. Dorms are also a great place to meet friends that you'll have for the rest of your college career.

    Academic Rigor

Depending on which major you are going into, some classes are harder than others. For example, Engineering majors generally have much harder classes and a heavier work load than say Business majors, but that doesn't mean that business majors do not have some hard classes down the road too. The Calhoun Honors College usually goes into more depth with their material for each class, but the class sizes are much smaller than normal classes so you really get to familiarize yourself with your teachers.

    Tips for prospective students

Go to the library to study and to do work for your classes because there are way less distractions in there than there are in your dorm room; plus you can get a coffee at Javacity to help you focus. Join some clubs or intramural sports that you find interesting because chances are that you'll meet people in there that have similar interests to you and you'll meet a bunch of new friends. Use the Fike Recreation Center to work out, play sports, go swimming, or go rock climbing because it is very stress relieving to be in there not thinking about school work for a while.

    In three sentences

Clemson is a great school with many challenging classes that can be taken, but it is also a great experience all around. The football team is great, the campus is beautiful, the people you meet are all extremely nice and helpful, and it is just a fun college-town environment. There are plenty of places to eat and to go out with your friends to have a good time so Clemson is never a boring place.

CUPD and CPD patrol the campus at all hours, everyday of the week, all weeks in the year. If you ever find yourself in a bad situation, ever few hundred feet, there lies a police emergency button that will alert authorities to your location when pressed. Also, during the night, a CAT bus will come around and pick up students if they feel they are unsafe at their current location.

The campus offers 3 dining halls that are apart of the meal plan, 2 food courts that offer a variety of fast food and sushi, Wendy's, and numerous other places all around the campus. The dining halls offer fast and easy foods along with super health food choices. The variety of foods offered is great for diverse people and the dining halls even sponsor cultural weeks where each day is a culture theme.

    Dorm Life

All of the dorms are vibrant and lively with spirit. Quickly, no matter what dorm you are in, you will find a diverse set of individuals that work together to have fun and get through the school year. Some of the dorms are nicer than others, but overall, the fun you have in the dorms and the friendships you form outweigh anything negative.

    Academic Rigor

Well, depending on you major will determine the difficulty of the courses you are taking. I know the engineering and physics/astronomy majors have challenging and time consuming courses that require wit and time management. While other majors like education are not as involved with technicalities.

    Tips for prospective students

Make sure you have good grades and do not slack off in the first year. yes you can have fun, but do not neglect your studies. It will only make it harder for you to graduate on time.

Clemson has a pretty accurate cost for what the institution provides. When you go to Clemson, you become part of a glorious family-friendly atmosphere that stays with you. Not many Universities can say that. Also, scholarships aren't too hard to come by.

    What to do for fun

The rumors that there is nothing to do at Clemson are inaccurate. Emails are sent out every week for FREE, FUN things to do. You can even get FREE things such as t shirts and different Clemson related products.

    Food and Dining

I am a Vegetarian and honestly there aren't many options in Clemson Dining for Vegetarians/Vegans. They do however, provide numerous healthy options for all of those omnivores out there. I must say that Clemson House's cookies are absolutely marvelous.

    Dorm Life

Clemson Housing does a pretty accurate job of placing potential roomates together. In addition, hanging out with hall-mates is one of the funnest activities to do. My one hint of advice is to answer the potluck survey accurately. If you don't, you'll be very disappointed.

    Academic Rigor

The classes at Clemson are thorough and can be hard if you don't want to learn the material. My best advice would be to take classes you're interested in. If you study and want to learn the material, the grades will come.

    Tips for prospective students

Coming into any University, students should make a study schedule. It helps with time management and keeps grades up. If you aren't a partier, don't feel pulled into that kind of life. It really isn't for everyone and there are plenty of students that have fun without it.

    In three sentences

If you go to a high school in South Carolina and want in-state tuition, Clemson University is a definite must. The classes are fair, the professors want you to learn the material, and the people are friendly. This is definitely a University to consider applying to.

    What to do for fun

For fun, we have movie nights with people on the hall, or take a trip to the mall in Greenville or Anderson. There are ways to have clean fun, you just have to be smart about it.

    Food and Dining

The dining hall has a wide variety of food. They change the food choices every day so it doesn't get boring. As freshman, we have to get a meal plan. It isn't so bad since we aren't allowed to have cooking appliances other than a microwave in our dorm rooms.

    Dorm Life

Living in a dorm full of five hundred girls is probably not like most people would expect. The doors are always open so that you are able to meet new people. This allows you to have the opportunity to create friendships that will last a life time. You will never be bored or lonely. In the dorm I am in, we all share a community bathroom on our floor which gives each of us to bond, not only in the rooms, but in the hallways and bathrooms. There is not one day that passes by that a person doesn't say hey or hello to you. I have throughly enjoyed living on campus and close to everything.

    Academic Rigor

I feel very safe on campus. It's well lit and there are always cops out. If you're feeling kinda sketched out though, then you can always call Tiger Transit, who will pick you up and take you to your destination. There are plenty of police boxes too.

    Greek Life

I'd say there's probably around a 1000 people affiliated in greek life? It's everywhere but you definitely DON'T have to join to make friends or feel complete

    Clubs and Activities

There's a bunch of clubs but sometimes they just don't ever meet or do anything. Also, sometimes the students just don't participate. Quidditch Tournament? Not enough people signed up! Come on..really Clemson students?

Great for these types of students

Students who want to learn, to have a laid-back atmosphere, to live in a college town, love sports, interested in greek life, and want to make many friends.

Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus

There's a super-secret book you can find and sign, burning Cocky before the Carolina game, The Tiger Rag, rubbing Howard's Rock, running down the hill, Mr. Knickerbockers, getting access to the roof of Clemson House, and many, many, more you will have to discover for yourself.

    Bang for the buck

Definitely worth your money if you want a great education on a beautiful campus.

    What to do for fun

There's always something going on: movies, talent shows, plays, operas, concerts, and sporting events. ClemsonLive and Tiger Paw Productions bring in really awesome entertainment.

    Food and Dining

Eh, food gets old after a while. You have to branch out and eat somewhere like Cookout or Zaxby's to keep sane. You WILL get sick of pizza. I promise.

    Dorm Life

I love living on campus in the Shoeboxes. It's really close to everything and I can see the football stadium from my window. Bonus: I can control the A/C in my dorm myself. : )

    Academic Rigor

My classes are pretty stressful/ rigorous. My high school did not prepare me at all for college or especially a place like Clemson. I realized that I didn't know how to study VERY quickly.

    Tips for prospective students

Your classes aren't going to be a walk in the park. If you choose Clemson House as your first pick in dorms, think about if walking up and down that hill multiple times a day to get to class is worth it or not. [Shoeboxes are where it's at ; ) ] I hope you like walking uphill both ways.

    In three sentences

A very fun, southern, college, with rigorous classes. It's diverse and has many great professors.

    Campus Safety

The campus is really safe. Campus police are always around and there are these things call blue phones that are place all around campus if you need to call for an emergency.

    Clubs and Activities

You just have to find them.

Great for these types of students

    Athletes, artists, traditional students

    Bang for the buck

It does cost a lot and some things don't seem to go toward the quality of education.

    What to do for fun

There are places to walk to downtown of the university. There are shows of dancing and acting that are held on campus. There are also a lot of football events that everyone enjoys.

    Food and Dining

There are plenty of places on campus to get food. There are even delivery available.

    Dorm Life

There were a lot of students accepted this year so I was put in an overflow room. However, they did move me into an apartment before the second semester. It's a good place to live but you don't really get the full freshman experience.

    Academic Rigor

The work is difficult but there are always people to help. You just have to make the effort.

    Tips for prospective students

My advice to any student considering this school is be prepared to work and have friendships that will last a lifetime. Apply early to the school to get priority in housing. Begin to look for scholarships as soon as possible. Transportation is a little difficult to look for after 5 but if you have a car you'll be good. Have a lot of orange and purple clothing for game days and orange Fridays which is every Friday. Join IPTAY for good football game tickets and discount for some restaurants around the school.

    In three sentences

I am a second semester freshman and so far I love it here. It is a big transition from home (I live four hours away). This school is everything I dreamed of and more.

    Greek Life

I would never have thought I would join a sorority prior to college, but honestly it was one of the best decisions of my life. Great people and great memories.

    Clubs and Activities

    so many.

Great for these types of students

Outgoing, fun, nice, smart, friendly, outdoorsy, dedicated, family-oriented

Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus

There are so many traditions at Clemson, in fact there is a whole bucket list for Clemson students. Just another thing I love about this school, it makes you feel like you are really a part of something.

    Bang for the buck

In-state practically go for free which is kind of frustrating because just as capable out-of-state kids pay much, much more. However, compared to many other schools, it is still at the lower end of the price range.

    What to do for fun

Football games, tailgates, hiking adventures, concerts, downtown life, trips to Greenville, days at the lake. I could carry on.

    Food and Dining

I've visited many other universities and I have to say Clemson's dining is pretty awesome in comparison. There are so many options that everyone can be satisfied. Seriously, I know a vegan who couldn't even complain.

    Dorm Life

I cried leaving freshman year. Living in a dorm, I think, really enhances the whole first year college experience. I've made some of my best friends living on my hall and wouldn't trade that experience in for the world.

    Academic Rigor

Clemson is as challenging as you make it. Sure some classes can be difficult, however, there are so many resources to help if needed; such as, SI tutors, the academic success center, workshops, and approachable teachers.

    Tips for prospective students

Remember that grades are important, but definitely don't forget to be active. College is about learning but it is also about experience. You're not going to like it anywhere, or make any friends, if you never leave your dorm and are studying all the time. And at Clemson there are so many opportunities to get involved, be it greek life, intramural sports, going to sporting events, etc., that it is impossible to get bored/ not like it here.

    In three sentences

The best school in the south! Literally could not imagine going anywhere else and cannot wait to go back again next semester. I call it home even when I am at my real home in MA...

Over the course of 1 year, there was one mugging and no one was harmed and no property was even taken. The criminals here, if there are any, do not choose their life of crime wisely, as they are very bad at it.

    Greek Life

Dominant. Sometimes it seems like everyone here is Greek and they are very public about their events. Attendance at these events is incredibly exclusive.

    Clubs and Activities

There are always University run events on any given weekend and there are no shortage of student organizations. All you need to start a club is three people.

Great for these types of students

People who like lots of people and not seeing the same people every day if you don't want to. Also there's a lot of white people here.

Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus

Monsoon Room, ask an upperclassman. Solid Orange Fridays, everyone wears orange on Fridays.

    Bang for the buck

In-state: yes, all the way. Out-of-State: Questionable, they charge you a lot for things that shouldn't really come with the $42,000 pricetag.

    What to do for fun

A lot of students like to drink. a lot. Some students choose not to drink at all, and while the town of Clemson doesn't have much to do, there's always something fun that the university sponsors going on.

    Food and Dining

The food is nothing special. I'm pretty sure Harcombe gave me food poisoning on two separate occasions though.

    Dorm Life

The dorms are nice and a bit cozy, but it's what you make of it. I've seen Cadillac dorms that are less comfortable than a well-equipped low-end dorm

    Academic Rigor

I'm an engineer so my courseload is a bit harder, but is manageable with ample studying.

    Tips for prospective students

The professors within the mathematical sciences department, with a few exceptions, are not the best by any means and offer little support outside of class. Also the lab TA's are mostly foreign.

    In three sentences

Clemson is a great school for most any major, but there isn't much diversity here. You'll find reliable and knowledgeable professors in most every department, but you might have to search for them depending on which department. If you liked the social dynamic of high school, you'll love Greek life; if you didn't, the GDI population is broad and vibrant.

There is one tradition to not read the statue of Thomas Greene in front of Clemson until you are graduated.

    Bang for the buck

Clemson has many different career opportunities, and for the price it offers a prestigious degree, as well as the opportunity to find jobs through the michelin career center.

    What to do for fun

There is more than enough to do for fun, depending on your interests you can find 5 or more different groups or areas in which you can spend time outside, inside, with friends, or doing whatever you love to do.

    Food and Dining

The food was okay, some days the cafeteria excelled, and others the food was very subpar.

    Dorm Life

Dorm life is pretty bad, some areas are worse than others. The all boys dorm was constantly plagued with drunks, and the fire alarms getting pulled at extremely bad times at night.

    Academic Rigor

The academics at Clemson are taken very seriously, and slacking off can lead to massive grade drops, and an overload of work.

    Tips for prospective students

Start studying early, and get ahead in whatever you do. DO NOT let assignments sneak up on you and then pile up to cause stressful overload.

    Greek Life

The Greek life is very big at Clemson so you can join it or see if everywhere you go.

Great for these types of students

Great for students that either want to work really hard and get somewhere great in life or for people that would rather focus on the social aspects of college life with less work.

    Bang for the buck

I'm attending Clemson with a lot of scholarships but the cost of living there is pretty high so make sure you do some looking for places off campus.

    What to do for fun

The union is a good place to play pool and bowl. Three spoons has delicious frozen yogurt that you should definitely try and Clemson sushi has good cheap sushi. The y beach is popular for swimming or laying out, as well as lake Hartwell.

    Food and Dining

There is such variety that the quality doesn't take away from the dining experience that much. If you don't like something just go get something else to eat.

    Dorm Life

Dorms are a really great way to meet people but it does get hard to live with people that you don't get along with. Cherish being that close to people that you have things in common with because you won't have it later when you move off campus.

    Academic Rigor

If you are in engineering or the biological sciences then look forward to rigorous courses. Not so much for the communications majors though.

    Tips for prospective students

If you're not the sorority or fraternity type, don't despair because you can still have a place at Clemson. You may just have to work a little harder to find your worthwhile friends.

    In three sentences

    Campus Safety

I have never felt unsafe in Clemson, but like everywhere you need to be smart, alert, and not wander to strange places at night.

    Greek Life

Greek life is pretty big at Clemson and can be overwhelming at times during the first year or two for those who decide not to rush. Once people get old enough to go to the bars downtown, the Greek/GDI division virtually disappears.

    Clubs and Activities

There are plenty of clubs and organizations to join from the high five club that gives out free high fives on library bridge on Fridays to pretty much any honor society or professional organization you could want to join.

Great for these types of students

Great for people that love sports, the outdoors, warm weather, and are looking for a college town feel. The best part of the small town location is that when you really need to buckle down and study, so does everyone else which really helps cut down distractions.

Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus

Just to name a few: The Secret Book, Reading Thomas Green Clemson's statue, the monsoon room, rollercoaster road, TTT's 21st birthday shirt, rubbing Howard's rock, jumping in the reflection pond, wearing orange on Fridays, Tiger Rag, The Hill, Senior Walk, Cadance Count, the underground tunnels, and a lot more.

    Bang for the buck

In my opinion a Clemson degree is most valuable in the more technical fields like engineering, computing, business, architecture, nursing, and sciences. Not that other majors are not good, but the vast majority of the people you meet at Clemson will be in one of those majors (Well you may never meet an architecture major unless you visit Lee Hall)

    What to do for fun

There are plenty of things to do for fun in and around Clemson. The biggest thing is that Lake Hartwell borders campus and there actually is a campus beach on the lake which always is good for beach volleyball, swimming and whatever else. Clemson is also very close to the mountains and numerous hiking and biking trails. If you want to get away from Clemson for the weekend, Atlanta and Charlotte are two hours away and Greenville, SC is an easy 45 minute drive. Outside of locations, the biggest source of fun is the student body itself. Clemson is in general a town made up entirely of college students your own age all either organizing events or looking for things to do. It is easy to find something.

    Food and Dining

There are three dining halls on campus which offer a pretty good selection, they can have weird hours at times, but I'm sure that is the same everywhere. There are also two food courts on campus which can be a good alternative during class time. The town of Clemson and surrounding areas really have all of the dining areas a person with a college student's budget could wish for. From fast food places like Chick-Fil-A (yes there is a chick-fil-a in Clemson, actually two... long story, look it up), Zaxby's to Jimmy John's, Chipotle, Little Ceaser's, etc. and local spots like Pot Belly Deli and the Smokin' Pig.

    Dorm Life

Dorm life is interesting. As with any school the cramped spaces and strained living conditions lead to interesting situations. Your first year or two living on campus will really help establish your circle of friends and acquaintances for the rest of your college career.

    Academic Rigor

Classes are challenging, but there are a multitude of resources available to help you along the way. The academic success center recently moved into a large building in the middle of campus next to the library and its sole purpose is to tutor students that seek out help. Classmates and professors are also great resources and are always willing to help.

    Tips for prospective students

Visit the campus while class is in session. Like many college towns, the campus can become pretty desolate after classes let out for breaks or the summer.

    In three sentences

Clemson University is located in a beautiful location at the foothills of the Appalachian mountains in the upstate of South Carolina. The school is in the small college town of Clemson, SC and as such you can not only see, but feel the school pride throughout the area. The student body is made up of a great group of students that know how to have a good time, but also know how to buckle down and focus when needed.

Everything is mostly well-lit. There are emergency phones everywhere and you can see them in the dark. If you scream, someone will hear you, wherever you are. You can sign up to get a text/email whenever a crime happens or the weather may be dangerous, and there are campus sirens. There's a bus available between 6 PM and 6 AM that you call, tell them where you are and where you're going, and they call you back when someone's on the way to get you so you're not standing outside in the dark waiting.

    Greek Life

Everyone I know in Greek life loves it. I hear rush is exhausting and stressful. It takes up a lot of time and it's very expensive. I'm not a fan but I'm in the service sorority, Gamma Sigma Sigma. Alpha Phi Omega is the service fraternity. They don't cost nearly as much, they revolve around service, and they can't be associated with alcohol, but you still make friends and wear letters.

    Clubs and Activities

Don't take an academic dance class. Clemson Dancers is the best deal if you want to do any type of dance. You can do ballroom dancing for a dollar every Wednesday at Fike. Greek life is huge but you'll still make tons of friends if you don't rush. Try the service sorority or fraternity. Never be afraid to try something new later in the semester because everyone's welcoming.

Great for these types of students

Anyone who doesn't sit in their rooms with their door shut all day long

Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus

    Anything football related

    What to do for fun

Everyone will say football games. I like the lake. Give your email to every organization that slightly interests you because you never know who's in it or what you'll do.

    Food and Dining

The food is hastily made and you just know when it's been frozen or prepackaged. When they cook stuff like omelets or pasta, they use tons of oil. The hours are odd and the chefs don't work at certain hours so you have to settle for sandwiches or something a lot of times. Meal plans are way overpriced for the food quality but Paw Points can get you food at restaurants on campus. You can get food for your dorm at the Super Walmart in Anderson by the free public bus.

    Dorm Life

Clemson House is the best deal but it's unlikely you'll get it. Anything else is just okay.

    Academic Rigor

Depends on the class and the professor--mostly online homework, if any, and tests are most of your grade in most classes. Check out ratemyprofessors.com before you schedule classes.

    Tips for prospective students

Just apply, even if you're not sure you want to go, because that's what I did and it was one of the best decisions I've ever made. Definitely take a tour because that's how I fell in love with it. I didn't think I'd appreciate a school full of football fans and engineers but I've learned to love it all.

    In three sentences

I had no intention of going to Clemson until I toured in April of senior year. The campus was beautiful and there was something about it that made it feel like a close-knit community. There's not much to do in the surrounding area if you don't have a car but there are so many organizations on campus that if you just give your email at the organizations fair, you'll always be a part of something and have something to do. I'm not a huge fan of the housing and dining but that's pretty much all that's ever bothered me.

Tradition is a big deal at Clemson. From running down the hill and rubbing Howard's Rock to Tillman Hall, tradition is celebrated at Clemson.

    What to do for fun

There is a lake at Clemson and of course FOOTBALL!

    Food and Dining

One cafeteria is being redone this summer and the other is very nice. They serve great food.

    Dorm Life

There are a variety of dorms for freshman. Clemson House does not have the community showers, which is what I like, but people say the best way to make friends is in the hall bathrooms.

    Academic Rigor

I have heard that being a Biology major will be very time consuming and rigorous.

    Tips for prospective students

Save up for college tuition because it is not cheap!

    In three sentences

Clemson is a great campus to be on during the school year and even when school is not in session. It is ranked in the top 25 for colleges and has great staff that are very welcoming. I cannot wait to start in August.

    Academic Rigor

Clemson doesn't play when it comes to academics, but it will look really good on your resume in the future.

    Tips for prospective students

Don't overbear yourself with classes, just to get ahead...make it a smooth ride for yourself. Don't let the pressure of scholarships and parents get to you...just be the best that you can be. Also, look up the teachers before you enroll in a class...every teacher is different.

    In three sentences

Clemson is an awesome university to attend, especially if you want to partake in engineering. The campus is a beautiful place filled with Christian friendly students, as myself. You will never have a dull moment at Clemson...GO TIGERS!!!

    Tips for prospective students

I would advise prospective students to live on campus for at least one year. It is a great experience, especailly on game days. I would also tell them to be a part of Iptay if they plan on going to football games. It is also important to feel confident and comfortable around campus. I would show them good places to study-other than the library. I would show them where printers are located around campus. I would encourage them to get involved with organizations their freshamn year so they start to think of Clemson as home.

    In three sentences

Clemson University is a family. Clemson is a great community, town, university, and place to live. Clemson University cares about the success of its current students and its alumni.

    Greek Life

I would rate greek life at about a 9/10. Everything about it is pretty phenomenal.

    What to do for fun

I'm in greek life so I think that speaks for itself.

    Food and Dining

Dining halls are good for a quick easy meal but the food gets a little bit old after a while. The other restaurants and food establishments are fantastic for easy, quick meals or nice quiet dinners.

    Dorm Life

Dorm life is good and teaches the student a few things about social life etc. Your room may be a little small but the people make it all the better.

    Academic Rigor

I would say that academics at Clemson are extremely challenging while still keeping the student interested. Though students may have a harder time with their academics, it is worth it in the end.

    Tips for prospective students

    1. Learn to use the transit system. 2. Study, Study, Study! 3. Go to class and do your homework, it could be a bigger part of your grade than tests. 4. Join a club or get into greek life. 5. Have fun.

    In three sentences

Clemson is a wonderful university with wonderful people. The academics are challenging and interesting. The students, teachers, and other staff at Clemson make it one of the best universities in the country to attend.

    Campus Safety

Clemson is located in a very rural area, and crime is very minimal here. Residence halls have electronic locks that can only be opened by students with their ID card, which is pre-programmed to work only in the residence hall they live in. You can see an emergency post (blue light and a phone that connects directly to CUPD) from any point you stand on campus. Also, the Clemson University Police Department is on campus and do rounds on campus and in buildings 24/7.

    Greek Life

Greek Life is a very popular option on Clemson's campus. I would say that the majority of students on campus are involved in Greek Life, and there are so many fraternities and sororities that almost everyone is selected to be a pledge somewhere if they choose to rush. Those that are not Greek are not pressured or discriminated against because of their decision - I am personally not involved in Greek Life, and have plenty of friends that are Greek and there are no issues whatsoever between us.

    Clubs and Activities

The options are truly limitless here. I could not even begin to list the groups and activities available to students on Clemson's campus. Everything is organized and easy to find on OrgSync. In addition, Tiger Prowl is held every year just before classes start on Bowman Field to allow students to see the different organizations and speak directly to their members. Finally, all it takes is 3 people - yes, three! - to form a club or group that isn't already on campus.

Great for these types of students

Clemson University is great for students that have a drive and determination to be successful and prosper in life. As previously stated, you will see results from the effort you put in. If you are prepared to work hard and enjoy yourself, this is a great place to be. Students that have an appreciation and respect for tradition will love Clemson, and anyone that wants to be part of something bigger and form unbreakable bonds that they will carry for the rest of their lives should consider this school strongly.

Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus

Solid Orange Friday is a very important tradition on campus - every Friday, no matter where you are in the world, Clemson students and alumni wear orange. It is a sign of unity, support, and love for our school. The Clemson Ring is probably the most prestigious honor, and there are stories of Clemson alumni being recognized by other alumni all over the world because the ring is so important and stands out. Special locations on campus include Library Bridge, Campus Beach, and Lever Beach, and these places will always be buzzing with Clemson students year round.

    Bang for the buck

In-State students pay about $22,000 a year on average, while out of state students are closer to $40,000. With that being said, Clemson has the highest Return On Investment for a degree in the state of South Carolina, and is top 30 in the country. Clemson University prepares students for life after college, and the connections and friendships you make here are truly priceless.

    What to do for fun

The main thing on Clemson's campus during the Fall are the football games on Saturdays. Everyone tailgates in the mornings up until the football games. Clemson is currently a top-10 team in the country, and is on the rise with serious national championship aspirations. Bowman field is a popular hangout for people to play pickup games of volleyball, ultimate frisbee, soccer, etc. In addition, Fike Recreation Center has indoor basketball courts, a full-size swimming pool, racquetball courts, and top of the line gym equipment. The Union has pool tables and bowling lanes, and McKissick Theatre in the Hendrix Student Center plays popular movies several times a week.

    Food and Dining

There are three dining halls on campus, and they are spread out enough so that you shouldn't be more than 10 minutes away from one at any given time. Schilletter just received a major renovation, and now includes amenities such as a pizza oven and a bar-style seating arrangement. Harcombe is a general favorite on campus, and is the largest dining hall of the three. Clemson House has it's own dining hall on the first floor, but is a decent walk from everything else on campus. There is always a wide range of food items in each dining hall. In addition, there are several mainstream restaurants on campus, including Wendy's, Pizza Hut, Chick-Fil-A, Subway, Papa John's, and Chili's, a Starbucks and Einstein Bros. for coffee and pastries, and a few other campus restaurants, so the food options are endless.

    Dorm Life

This is more dependent on where exactly you stay. Clemson House is a very nice place for freshman to live when they come here; they have two and four-person apartments, and are extremely comfortable. On the other hand, Johnstone is outdated and is scheduled to be torn down in the coming years, and for good reason - I wouldn't want to live in there because the walls are paper thin and it's taken a ton of abuse over the years. The middle ground for residence halls are the options in Bryan Mall - Byrnes, Lever, Manning, and Mauldin. These buildings are traditional residence halls (two people per room, a communal bathroom) and are as comfortable as you choose to make them. I am an RA in Byrnes Hall, and I recommend these places for the true freshman experience and the best place to make friends and form bonds with other people as a first-year student.

    Academic Rigor

Like I said, academics are the top priority here. Very few professors here are going to hand out easy A's or do things to boost your grade when you don't deserve it. I had an 89.9 in one class and they didn't round it to an A. If you appreciate people sticking to their policies and seeing the exact fruits of your labor, then this is the place to be. The academics here are a large reason why a Clemson degree is so highly valued and respected - we're not an Ivy League school, but the academics are second to none in my personal opinion.

    Tips for prospective students

Be honest. Don't lie about your grades or activities - they'll see right through it. If you get accepted to the Bridge Program, accept it because it'll be worth it in the long run. Coming to Clemson is the best decision I've made in a long time, and if you're on the fence, come to the campus and take a tour, and then walk around and take everything in on your own as well. It can really have a huge influence on your decision.

    In three sentences

Clemson is a beautiful, lively campus where academics are first and foremost. Tradition runs deep here, and the people are the kindest and most helpful people I've ever encountered in my life. Everyone here has an unmatched drive and determination, and you really do feel like a part of a family here.

    Campus Safety

Blue light systems everywhere, campus PD everywhere, and constant emails or texts about anything that might be considered dangerous. Not once have I felt unsafe, even walking home at night.

    Greek Life

ABSOLUTELY RECOMMEND GREEK LIFE. At least go through rush and recruitment in the beginning of the year, because it is an amazing way to meet people. For guys the hazing is kind of rough, but for girls there is NONE. Like seriously I offered to DD older sisters and they wouldn't let me because they didn't want it to look like hazing.

    What to do for fun

There are seriously clubs for ANYTHING. We even have a skydiving club. There are both club sports and intramurals in pretty much everything. The best part is, if there's no existing club for what you want, you can get 3 other people together and start one. If you don't want the commitment of a club or team, there is always something to do outside. On Bowman Field (the green on campus), there are constant pickup games of ultimate frisbee, soccer, volleyball, and others. Downtown there are tons of good restaurants within walking distance. A crowd favorite is Groucho's sub/sandwich shop. There are also some cute boutiques if you're into shopping (though some are really expensive...). On weekends there are always Fraternity parties. Pledges for the fraternities drive you back and forth to avoid drunk driving. And of course, FOOTBALL WEEKENDS. We are the #1 tailgating school in the country with the #1 stadium and soon to be #1 team! So much school spirit during football season... It can't even be described in words, you just have to experience it. Everyone goes to the games, and I mean everyone.

    Food and Dining

Good quality dining hall food, and SO many other options on campus or downtown within walking distance. There are many choices when picking a meal plan as well to fit your needs.

    Dorm Life

Good quality dorms, the coolest RAs around, and a bunch of (optional) planned activities so everyone can get to know each other. There are often competitions between dorm buildings or between floors.

    Academic Rigor

Not the hardest classes I can imagine, but they definitely require some studying to pass with a decent grade. Expect your GPA to be lower than high school.

    Tips for prospective students

As with any college experience, it takes a while to adapt to living with no parents. Clemson makes the transition easy with a million opportunities to meet other students and faculty, and by providing great ways to stay informed about sports and clubs. Each year before classes begin, there are fairs on Bowman Field (the green in the center of campus) with hundreds of tables set up to give information on every single sport and club. Get involved!

    In three sentences

Clemson is an amazing place to study. The school spirit is unlike anything you'll ever experience at another university, especially when football is involved. You'd be hard pressed to find anyone who doesn't love it here.

    Tips for prospective students

There are so many upcoming events during my first week of college that fits well with my schedule. Finding a parking spot on the Clemson campus is definitely a gamble. That isn't a problem at all because all the stores and restaurants are in walking distance.

There is nothing like a Clemson Football game in Death Valley. The most exciting 25 seconds in college football happens here as the Tigers run down The Hill at the beginning of every game. The spirit and happiness is apparent to all those around and you can hear the crowd cheering from a mile away.

    What to do for fun

In Clemson there is never nothing to do. If you love the outdoors, this is the place for you. With Lake Hartwell five minutes down the road and the mountains just a short drive away, the weekends are filled with sunbathing and hiking. During football season Death Valley is the place to be. If those aren't for you there is shopping and several movie theaters about fifteen minutes down the road.

    Food and Dining

Food and dining isn't quite gourmet, but the staff does a great job with the resources provided. In just the two years I have been here there have been many changes for the better, so I'm sure things will only improve! Plus, aside from dining halls there are several places to eat such as Subway, Chili's, and multiple cafes.

    Dorm Life

For me, I loved dorm life. The dorms are a fun way to meet new people, especially your roommate since you share a room. While yes, there isn't much space, there is much fun to be had in that small 9x11 foot space. Keep an open mind and remember to have patience; you and your roommate are both new to college.

    Academic Rigor

Classes in college will almost always be harder than high school, but don't lose hope if at first you don't succeed. Clemson is an academically prestigious institution, but with amazing support behind the students. Professors have office hours and the University offers free tutoring in the library as well as specified Student Instructors for many courses. I have never once felt as though help could not be reached.

    Tips for prospective students

Keep an open mind and try new things. Let yourself explore; the scenery is magnificent. Join clubs, participate in school activities, and definitely go to the football games! Clemson is a unique place with a heart the size of Texas. You have to live on campus freshman year, but enjoy being so close to classes and in the middle of all the action! By immersing yourself in activities you will find yourself falling into a routine and make friends for life.

    In three sentences

Set in the beautiful hills of Clemson, S.C., you won't find a school with more spirit, pride, and integrity than Clemson University. Professors are helpful, students are kind, and the Tiger's home turf is a one of a kind place. With the help of a great staff and support system, students are able to have successful academic semesters as well as enjoy the perks of Clemson such as the quaint down town area, Lake Hartwell, and Death Valley Stadium.

    What to do for fun

Being that there are 20,000 people on campus, there is literally ALWAYS something to do. There are plenty of organizations that you could join or if you don't have time to commit, there are bunches of other free or fairly cheap events to attend. ClemsonLIVE is just one of the many groups that plans some of these really cool events (movie nights, field trips, parties, etc.).

    Food and Dining

There are many choices for food on campus. Between the 3 different dining halls that serve everything from grab and go foods to stir-fry entrees, there also restaurants that include but are not limited to Subway, Wendy's, Chic-Fil-A, Pizza Hut, etc. There are also many places around campus within a 1 mile radius to eat.

    Dorm Life

Of course the dorms aren't luxurious but they are comfortable. There is just enough space for everything that you might need to fit into the room.

    Academic Rigor

As long as you commit yourself to your classes, Clemson will not be as challenging as everyone says it is. There are far too many tutors and professors (even those who classes you do not attend) around campus to help you learn the material. Just apply yourself and there's no way you won't see good results.

    Tips for prospective students

First and foremost, remember why you are there! Don't get caught up in campus life. Just because there is some sort of activity going on almost everyday doesn't mean you have to attend them all. You will have to study and if any of the new friends you make don't understand your books come first then they're not good friends.

    In three sentences

Clemson University is a great school! Of course just like any school, it can be made more challenging than it actually is if you don't apply yourself but the overall experience is great. There is always plenty to do on campus and the environment is welcoming and friendly.

    Greek Life

Greek Life is awesome at Clemson. Sure the recruitment process is a bit overwhelming with it being the first and second week of courses, but it is so rewarding. You automatically gain hundreds of new friends and sisters. You get plenty of opportunities to participate in events, community service projects, and philanthropic functions. Greek life is an all around great program at Clemson.

    What to do for fun

The list of things to do for fun is endless. If you love to workout, there is a never ending amount of gym classes. If you're more of a sports person, there are tons of intramural teams. Not interested in any of those? No problem. There are other clubs on campus, there is the underground recreation center that has its own full bowling alley. Students can honestly never complain of having nothing to do.

    Food and Dining

The food here is fantastic. Most people here the word dining hall and get the chills. That is not the case at Clemson. Clemson has 2 very large dining halls and one smaller dining hall. The two main ones are Harcombe and Schilleter. Harcombe is the newest in age and is so spread out with so many different options for students. Feeling salad, there is a full salad bar... Feeling pizza? You got it. Schilleter was completely redone this past summer and is absolutely gorgeous. There is a create your own pasta line, where they cook your food in front of you... Yum! I am a Junior and still have a meal plan because I think the food is so good, and there are so many healthy and delicious options.

    Dorm Life

My dorm life was minimal, due to being an athlete. However, I made it possible to attend the events I could and get involved in any way I could. Dorm life according to everyone is great here. People meet their best friends through dorm life. All the dorms are really close to every class building on campus, and are super close to dining halls and downtown. The rooms are decent sized and give the students their space to be creative. You can't go wrong living on campus at Clemson.

    Academic Rigor

The classes at Clemson are exceptional. I have never felt more challenged, yet rewarded at the end of every semester. Every class challenges you in new ways and teaches you lessons every step of the way. Studying is key here, but there are plenty of ways to learn how to study at the college level. So while the courses may challenge you, there are plenty of opportunities to get help.

    Tips for prospective students

My main tip would be: Get Involved!! There are so many opportunities to meet new friends at Clemson. The university is constantly coming up with new activities for all students to attend and participate in. It is scary to go to a new school, but everyone is in the same boat. So get involved in any way you can, even if it is just going to Starbucks and studying with a couple people.

    In three sentences

To limit myself to three sentences is difficult, there is just so much to mention when it comes to the Clemson experience. To sum it up: Clemson has now been ranked as the nations 21st top-public school, we have a consistent top 25 performance in athletics, and any college rating sites have Clemson at the A level. Clemson is most definitely the best and most well rounded University I have ever had the pleasure of visiting.

    Social, insecure, and upper middle-class.

    What to do for fun

Fun, fun, or college fun? There are sororities, fraternities, and cringe-worthy college parties everywhere. For real fun, there's a lake, trails, and a lot of pet-friendly things to do!

    Food and Dining

The food is disgusting, but I also think all commercial food is disgusting. It's okay, I guess. Sort of.

    Dorm Life

It's fun, if that's your thing.

    Academic Rigor

Clemson has some amazing professors on staff, but you won't get to them till your Junior or Senior year. Until then, the students must experience the dismal humors of being taught by other, marginally older, students.

    Tips for prospective students

Go to class, always. Don't be fooled by the hegemony.

    In three sentences

Clemson is ambitious, albeit not, I think, in the right ways. Clemson wants desperately to improve its national rankings and thereby appear to be a better school. However, in spite of the admirable goal of self-improvement, Clemson focuses too much on bettering itself in the eyes of others rather than improving the actual quality of education.

Great for these types of students

    Athletic, intelligent, happy, warm-weather loving

    What to do for fun

Sports, run/fitness classes, comedy show (student-run), free movies, movie nights in dorms, go out for ice cream, go to the beach, go hiking, free socials, club activities, bowling in the union

    Food and Dining

The food quality was good. My one complaint is that the steamed vegetable were almost always over-cooked (i.e. mushy). There were many options at every meal, but after having a meal plan for two years, the food got a little repetitive. It was still good, but I wanted a little more variety.

    Dorm Life

I lived in the honors dorm my freshman and sophomore year and loved it. I would not trade my dorm experience for anything. As a freshman, living in a dorm is vital to making new friends. It is so easy to meet people (at the beginning of the year) and hang out with people (after you have an established group of friends). My dorm had kitchens available, which I utilized to make birthday cakes. It was also suite-style which means I only shared a bathroom with my roommate and two suite-mates, not an entire floor.

    Academic Rigor

I would say Clemson's difficulty is slightly higher than the average public university. There are definitely some blow-off classes, but there are many challenging ones as well. Even in the classes that don't require much work to receive an 'A', I learned a lot throughout the semester. The vast majority of classes at Clemson require some degree of work, but it's a reasonable amount of work. For a more challenging college experience, students can take more credits, enroll in the honors college, and/or get involved in extracurricular activities.

    Tips for prospective students

Be ready to work, but also enjoy all that Clemson has to offer. There is a huge football following and lots of school pride. Buy as many orange clothes as you can find! Also, for girls, rain boots are a must for walking to class.

    In three sentences

I applied to Clemson last-minute, but I could not have chosen a better school. I would 100% come here again if I had to do it again. Warm weather, happy students, middle difficulty level for classes, large Christian population, and a lot of extracurricular opportunities to get involved in!

Fun! All based off where you live. Had good experiences and bad, but my living choices were always good and like home to me.

    Academic Rigor

For most people, I believe that students at Clemson are having a time of there life. Be warned for students majoring in engineering. I am an engineering major that is sick of Clemson because of the foolish professors that teach here. Clemson will nickel and dime every student here and not to mention the outrageous tuition and fees. I don't know why we have signs that say #1 in quality or cost. THAT'S a LIE! I am not passionate as you can tell from my message because I am a transfer student that has my GPA down the toilet. I would suggest anyone considering clemson's brutal academics that have self centered professors that can't teach a thing and get paid to really consider your options. I think it's a beautiful campus and has great academics, but I hate the administration that runs the school.

    Campus Safety

I always feel very safe on campus, and they have many services to keep the safety of students a top priority at Clemson.

    Greek Life

Greek life is somewhat big at Clemson, but not to the point that you have to be in one. I am not in a sorority, and I am friends with people who are and aren't in sororities and fraternities.

    Clubs and Activities

Hundreds of activities to choose from that fit any student that comes to Clemson

    What to do for fun

A lot of times we will go hang out on Bowman field or shop downtown. Bigger towns with more shops and things to do aren't too far, only a thirty or forty-five minute drive, so we go there as well.

    Food and Dining

For a meal plan you can go to two different dining hall options, but their are also things called Paw Points that come with the meal plan that you can use all over campus until they run out.

    Dorm Life

Its really not as a bad as you would think. The staff keeps the community bathroom clean and thats one less thing that you have to worry about, and the rooms are a good size.

    Academic Rigor

The professors are hard and challenging, but will work with you so that you really do get the best college education that you can.

    Tips for prospective students

Visit the campus to hear about all the things happening around campus and all the organizations that we offer, but also to see how beautiful it is.

    In three sentences

Clemson is one huge family and the atmosphere is welcoming for anyone because we have hundreds of organizations to where you can find the perfect place to make your college experience the best. Clemson has some of the best athletics and who wouldn't want to be apart of the most exciting 25 seconds in college football. When it comes to academics, Clemson professors really are interested in you learning and thriving as a college student and doing whats best for you to succeed at whatever you do after college.

Rigorous, but not too hard that you will be stressed out all the time.

    Tips for prospective students

Bring walking shoes! Don't run away from a smiling face!

Clemson is beautiful in every season. The campus is small enough to walk to class, but big enough to meet new people every day. The resources there are tremendous.

    Campus Safety

The most you have to worry about is a meth head wandering too far from his trailer...beyond that, this is far from the inner city.

    Greek Life

Fantastic and almost 100% necessary to join to make the most of your social life while at Clemson.

Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus

Enjoy the pool at Crawford, Y beach and Bowman field on sunny days.

    Bang for the buck

College is expensive, but the times I had were invaluable. As far as the price of things in the area, the rent is cheap, food is cheap, drinks are cheap...Clemson is a social oasis in rural America. You get an extraordinary mix of fun things to do for cheap prices.

    What to do for fun

Party, tailgate, pool, sailing, canoeing, biking, hiking, etc. You are in a town made up by college students wanting to party as hard as you with an intimate downtown surrounded by natural beauty. Everything and anything you would want is tailored to you and at your fingertips because the town is comprised of you and those like you and virtually no one else.

    Food and Dining

Unlimited meal plan is the way to go. The food in the dining halls aren't 5 star, but they aren't McDonalds either. You get more than what you pay for.

    Dorm Life

I loved living on campus. Living in the same room with someone can be tough and the space isn't much, but being able to walk everywhere and having your friends in such a small area leads to a veritable social playground.

    Academic Rigor

Freshman year is really easy, but beyond that, you do learn, but of course the type of professor has a lot to do with that, as well as how much you want to learn. I've had good and bad professors and I've had classes I've tried harder in than others and I've gotten expected results correlating to the work I put in.

    Tips for prospective students

Join Greek life, work hard during the week and party harder during the weekend. Live at Crawford Falls and don't be afraid to meet new people.

    In three sentences

Clemson University's greatest attribute is its campus. The size and location creates a great sense of community among the students. The university was a great place to learn and live.

    Campus Safety

You're good! Trust me. Security is everyone. If you are in trouble during the night, there are blue buttons all over campus.

    Greek Life

Very important. You don't have to join to have fun though. I'm still pretty involved in partying without having to pledge.

    Clubs and Activities

    Plenty.

Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus

You have to sign the secret, hidden book, which believe it or not is a very tedious task. You can't read this statue until right before graduation or it is bad luck. You have to swim in the Reflection Pond before you graduate. You have to seal a brick from the ground behind the Union.

    Bang for the buck

    Pricey. But that's life.

    What to do for fun

Workout at Fike. Our gym is HUGE with plenty of workout activities. Join a club. There are over 100s of clubs from Cultural Ambassadors to Dance there are plenty of things to do. We have sky diving, concert initiatives, community service groups, and much more. Pledge a fraternity or sorority. I didn't, but I know a lot of happy people who did. Go for a swim. In Fike or at our campus's beach. Netflix. That's always an option. There are plenty of activities.

    Food and Dining

Food and dining is pretty great. There are two main dining halls (Harcombe and Schilleter). They offer a variety of food and there are plenty of places to sit. Just make sure you get a good meal plan.

    Dorm Life

Dorm life also varies upon dorm hall. I lived in the crappiest and oldest dorms, but it had it's perks. One thing is that it was close to the main dining hall, Chic-fil-a, Starbucks, Chili's, the stadium (Death Valley) and many of my classes. Don't apply to live in Johnstone.

    Academic Rigor

There are tutors and an Academic Success Center. The library stays open all night and there are six floors where you can study privately and in groups. Difficulty varies upon major and professors; so choose wisely!

    Tips for prospective students

Dive right in into the college life.

    In three sentences

It is a really great place to attend. It is number 21 in the nation of best public universities. I love it!

    Campus Safety

I always felt safe on campus no matter what.

    Greek Life

I am extremely disappointed in the greek life here, it is small and very secular. If you aren't top tier you will get bashed on and looked at funny. The mixers are only on week nights which is insane for a school that is so academically focused and it forces you to choose between social life and academics.

Great for these types of students

Students who are from the south. There is a huge southern culture here.

Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus

Clemson is all about tradition. The football games are honestly amazing and make you feel apart of the Clemson family. Tillman, the main sight on campus, is gorgeous. Bowman is beautiful for watching sunsets and so is the lake. There is nothing like rushing the field after a big Clemson win!

    Bang for the buck

As an out of state student, the tuition isn't worth it.

    What to do for fun

A lot of people join FCA which is cool if you're of that religion. Most things have to do with religion in the club sense. Greek life is small, but it can be good depending on what sorority or fraternity you are in, which it shouldn't be like that. There are tons of clubs you can join though.

    Food and Dining

Clemson dining is fun for all of three weeks, then you realize there is nothing to eat and there are only three dining halls. All of which are extremely far from one another and not worth the walk. Schilleter is closed on the weekends so thats horrible if you live on that side of campus because it's at least a fifteen minute walk to Harcombe every. single. weekend. The food you pay for is really expensive and that's not even open on the weekend either. Clemson needs to step up their food game.

    Dorm Life

There are legitimately three nice dorms for freshman. Clemson house, McCabe, and Holmes. I was lucky enough to live in one of the suites. DO RANDOM FOR ROOMMATES. Clemson does an extremely good job of pairing random roommates. Everyone who does random got a perfect roommate for them(for the most part) My dorm was very close, which was lucky but not all dorms are that way. As a freshman you are required to live on campus.

    Academic Rigor

I had challenging classes, but they didn't need to be challenging. It seemed as though the professors just wanted to keep up with our rating (21st). Some professors cared about their students, others just wanted to sit and do their research. As a major who wasn't science based, I felt my classes were a joke academically and then graded to the point where I couldn't do well even if I tried extremely hard. I was extremely disappointed in my General Education courses and even the courses geared towards my major.

    Tips for prospective students

Have an open mind, if you are an engineer this is definitely the school for you, if you are in no way a science based major, I would not suggest Clemson. You can do your best to make Clemson whatever you want it to be, but you cannot change things that are already there, remember that.

    In three sentences

Clemson really depends on you, if you are like the people here, you will be fine. If you aren't like the people here, you will have a harder time.

    Food and Dining

There are a lot different food options available to students at all times of the day making it easily accessible.

    Dorm Life

Clemson matches you up with a group of people based on personalities and where you want to live. My roommates and I got along right off the bat and we all get excited when we think about the year we have together. Not only that, but most rooms are apart of a bigger complex, so you have a neighborhood of many different people to talk to and hang out with.

    Academic Rigor

It's known that Clemson is no Harvard or Princeton, however it is a well-known engineering school, and many of the math and science classes are taken even more seriously than the basic core classes. Students who do not have strong backgrounds in math or science, even some that do, will find these courses more difficult.

    Tips for prospective students

I would definitely suggest getting involved. Get to know your roommates and hang out with them. If you don't enjoy their company, then join a club or find a group with similar interests as you, because, where as you don't need a strong social group, it certainly makes the experience a lot more enjoyable.

    In three sentences

Clemson University is beautiful in every aspect. Clemson is a school that not only has a gorgeous lively campus filled with many different kinds of plants and animals, but many different kinds of people with just as many different goals in life as well. Though I have only spent a short time here thus far, it has become home and the environment is one of family, one that anyone can appreciate.

    Dorm Life

Dorm life here is fantastic. All the neighbors get along. The RA's are very understanding and helpful. They can guide you int the right direction.

    Academic Rigor

Clemson University is challenging and if they think you can do better they will help you reach your potential. They have the best professors that are committed and willing to spend their personal time helping you.

    Tips for prospective students

No matter how many credit hours you are taking, try and join at least one club or organization. Become friends with your professors.
