Great for these types of students

Coastal has a wonderful performing arts program ranging from music to dance to acting. Also, the marine science program is wonderful, because you get a chance first-hand to deal with and discover the marine life.

    Tips for prospective students

Study, study, study! In high school, classes and tests were nothing like they are in college. As long as you go into a test, confident and well prepared, you will be fine! Also, don't let the whole being on your own, get to you. If you focus more on your studies, and less on hanging out, you will succeed. Strive for only the best!

    Bang for the buck

I would not choose any other school to go to, even if it were cheaper. Almost every class feels well worth it. Coastal isn't perfect, but it is close.

    Am enjoying being here

I love the atmosphere of it all and the professors make you want to be in class.

    Am learning a lot

Every class I walk out of, I feel that I have learned something new each day. Whether it be how to communicate in groups effectively to what began the civil war, I feel more knowledgeable.

Great for these types of students

Coastal Carolina meet the needs of each student mentally, physically, and spiritually. From the fun weekly activities out on Prince Lawn to Sunday morning church services. Most of the University have fun, loving, genuine people that have touch my heart. I have allowed CCU to be a great College choice for me, and I am sure it could be a great one for you also.

    Tips for prospective students

There is nothing like experience in a classified field, definately the Professors at my college have. For example, my area of study is Business Finance. Many of the Professors have made the business ventures that I hope to make some day. It is great having someone teach you what they have been through, and they understand what all it takes to get you there. With the Professors, classroom settings, and advisement staff I was sold on Coastal Carolina University.

    Bang for the buck

The advisement staff at CCU is nothing shy of stellar. They advise over a thousand students, but do their absolute best to get to know you on a personal level. You will feel really comfortable with the advisors at CCU, they try to do their job with one goal in mind to allow you to get your degree earlier or definately on time.

    Am enjoying being here

Personally it is an atmosphere where you can succeed. You can seek extra help from your professor, which involves you to establish relationship where he or she knows you on a first name basis. Whenever the semester comes to an end that professor knows that you have been seeking the necessary help to receive an outstanding grade. At CCU I have an extra help session with my professor, who is easy to reach in a 30-50 student classroom.

    Am learning a lot

I am writing to inform you of the great things Coastal Carolina University has done for me. I'm sure many of people have mentioned how college will be some of the best years of one life, because that is what was told to me before I entered college. It wasn't until I set foot on the lovely campus of Coastal Carolina that I truly believed that this was going to be a great experience for me. First and foremost, the classroom setting at Coastal is phenomenal, for very important reasons. The class sizes are not too large, nor to small. It is a great opportunity to bond with classmates, and almost have a one on one with you and or your professor individually.

    Campus Safety

Coastal's campus police is available 24/7 and cruise through campus often to make sure everything is safe and secure. They have an emergency button in each room, so if something happens and you can't get to a phone they are notified. If you are walking on campus and its late and you don't feel safe they have emergency buttons you can press so the campus police can accompany you to your destinations.

    Greek Life

Great. They play a big influence on campus. Especially when it comes to events on campus. They have plays, step shows, and parties.

    Clubs and Activities

They have many different clubs and activities. They are what makes Coastal Carolina. They have zumba, a gym, and many different clubs. Such as lacrosse, rec basketball, flag football, and many more.

Great for these types of students

Great for students who are responsible, knowledgeable, and open minded. But, also for those who keep to themselves because it is not to crowded. The classes are high school size and the Campus size is great you can get to class in hurry if you have too.

Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus

Sometimes they have CINO day which is pretty much like a student appreciation day. Not too out of the usual, but very fun.

    Bang for the buck

Coastal Carolina is a very expensive school if your coming out of state, but it is worth it. The education and experience you receive is great.

    What to do for fun

Coastal Carolina is 10 minutes away from the beach. There are many different clubs to join. Also, the boardwalk has many different things to see. There are many different clubs to go to enjoy parties.

    Food and Dining

Very Good. There are plenty of different food options. Also, different places to eat on campus. On different days they have different specials such as cajun, soul food, chinese, and etc. But, some things stay constant like pizza, fries, subs, salads, and more.

    Dorm Life

Great. You have your own space and living room. Plenty of privacy and space. You share a bathroom, but only the shower. You have your own toilet and sink. The closet space is very descent. It comes with a dresser and a very comfortable bed. 2 people could sleep in it.

    Academic Rigor

It's difficult if you don't study and manage time well. The professors work with you if you work with them. Try not to fall behind. Prepare for tests and quizzes at the least a day in advance, so some knowledge gets through.

    Tips for prospective students

Come ready to work and learn. But, also have a good time. Your professors may be a pain and sometimes your best friend, but just do your work and stay focused. Also, make sure they learn your name. Participation can make college so easier and you learn more. That makes you look better and the professor will be more lenient.

    In three sentences

I feel coastal is a great school. It satisfies and goes beyond a college experience. I feel happy and safe here.

Great for these types of students

Great for people who enjoy an engaged community and lots of events, as well as those who like to have smaller classes.

    Tips for prospective students

Make sure you apply early, I applied late and got stuck with a really hectic freshman schedule. Of course you must study, my freshman year was my worst year because I treated it like high school.

    Bang for the buck

Coastal is great for the price, I am a Computer Science major and there is always something going one for us. We have independent and group personal projects pretty much all year round.

    Am enjoying being here

Coastal is an experience all in itself, a very tight knit community is here, if you decided to come, look me up, id be glad to show anyone around.

    Am learning a lot

Every Class is involved, even the somewhat larger ones, I have not been in a class with more than 50 people. I like it that way, more one of one with professors helps a lot.

What is there not to love about Coastal. We are 10 minutes from the beach. You can walk anywhere and every where on campus. The campus is beautiful. Its usually sunny. There are so many people to meet.

    Am learning a lot

Each class I take offers something new. Most of the time I walk into a class with the mind set of man this is going to suck and I find myself walking out saying this is pretty cool and my professor is mad funny. There are so many different teachers which offer such different learning styles that I feel allows all students an equal chance in learning.

Great for these types of students

If you like to do a lot of activities and get to know a wide variety of people, Coastal is the place to come. Not to mention Myrtle Beach is one of the top tourist areas in the nation, so there's plenty of people to meet and make friends with.

    Tips for prospective students

Don't stress about classes because if you need help, let your professor know and they'll see that you care about your grade and will be more than willing to help you out; they have office hours and will help you out one on one if needed. Not to mention, college is not high school, so study whether or not you have a test so that you can retain what you've learned during lectures.

    Bang for the buck

Coastal Carolina isn't expensive is said to be one of the top 100 colleges in America, ranking in the top 15%; it is also regarded as one of the best college buys, which means quality education for not too much.

    Am enjoying being here

The campus is not too big, nor too small and is pretty up to date in technology so you won't feel as though you're going back to the future, it has a good environment about it that attracts many different people to meet everyday, and the class sizes are not too big to where your professors actually learn your name and face instead of feeling like a number.

    Am learning a lot

Though this is my freshman year, almost all of my professor's here make me want to come to class and not feel as though I'm wasting thousands of dollars; they help me learn things by keeping me interested in the material being taught. Walking out of class and remembering something the next day is the feeling I've had since school started.

CCU has a very wide variety of people. Anyone can find something that they are interested in.

    Tips for prospective students

Don't eat at the Commons everyday. Don't drink every night.

    Am learning a lot

Coastal is such a good school. It may sometimes get the party school name, but it really isn't anything like that. The classes aren't easy, but you will get a lot out of them. I love it at CCU. I would not choose to go anywhere else. The size is perfect. It is not too big, but not too small. The school is expanding as well. We are getting new building this year. They are in the process if being built right now. Coastal is a good choice for anyone looking to have a good college experience! :)

Great for these types of students

Students that have come to learn and are very sociable should come to this school. The school is known for it outstanding academic programs that are on campus and it is also known for the area that surrounds it.

    Tips for prospective students

Students should come to Coastal Carolina University. The classes are fun if you attempt to come and learn. They challenge to the degree that you actually have to think in them, but if you come prepared, you will do fine. Students should join at least one club or group once he or she gets to campus because that will make you look more well-rounded once you graduate. Take school seriously but do not forget that we all most have some fun every once in a while.

    Bang for the buck

Coastal Carolina University is not really expensive. The tuition is generally about $9000 a semester. Also, the school offers different scholarships to help out with the cost and will help you to find outside scholarships as well.

Great for these types of students

People who love the beach, hate cold weather, are interested in theater, marine science, or pro golf management (Coastal has a great program for these majors).

    Tips for prospective students

If you're a beach person and want to go to the beach everyday, at least bring your books and try to get some homework or studying done. Don't party 2 days before a test, alcohol can cause problems focusing for up to two days. So really just be smart and think about your choices... cliche but true!

    Bang for the buck

The tuition isn't too bad and the dorms are pretty nice for what you are paying. The cafeteria food isn't always the best, but they have certain meals that I do love. There's always CINO Grill if you don't feel like the commons and that is good. They offer some food that can count as your meal plan and they accept declining balance and CINO cash.

    Am enjoying being here

The location of the school is definitely a plus. It is about 20 minutes from myrtle beach and the weather is nice all year round. There's a lot of clubs nearby to go to but if that isn't your thing there's not too much night activities.

    Am learning a lot

The teachers are really good here and they are always willing to help. I was really surprised by that. They have office hours or you can make an appointment to meet with them. Usually before a test, many of the teachers will lead study groups in a class room or the library which help a lot. They take time out of their schedules to make sure you get the material.

Great for these types of students

Beach loving students, marine science interested students, independent students (housing here is living in student apartments)

    Tips for prospective students

Do well in high school! If you get over a 3.5 GPA you will typically get some sort of scholarship!

    Bang for the buck

Being an out of state student, Coastal is somewhat pricey (~$15,000 a semester) if are an in-state student it is a fraction of the cost. Although I like Coastal, I dont feel it is worth what it is, if it were even $10,000/sem i think that would be more reasonable. (Most of the costs are from living on campus, which normally means living in one of their many on-campus apartments, which are really nice! I live in one now)

    Am enjoying being here

The campus is beautiful! So many activities! No matter what day it is, there's an activity going on. And if thats not good enough, theres always the pools or the student center!

    Am learning a lot

As a science major, its important to find a college that fullfills the degree's requirements to be able to succeed in Graduate school. Coastal's professors are extremely intelligent and most of them have their PhD's. You absolutely learn something new in each and every class.

    Campus Safety

I never felt unsafe on campus. Campus security is always riding around night or day. Not only just on campus but around all the dorm living quarters as well. Most of all we had the pull levers if you needed some assistance and you didn't see security right at that moment.

    Greek Life

Greek Life is very interesting I don't know if this is something I would like to pursue but it's plenty of Greek life on campus.

    Clubs and Activities

I didn't get involved in any clubs my freshman year but I do advise anyone to get involved in clubs. There are so many activities on campus it's always something to do on campus.

Great for these types of students

New students get a intranet cord that comes in your freshman packet when you get your dorm keys so you don't have to buy one in the bookstore.

Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus

A little hide away on campus is the office of the University housing I found a amazing mentor in their she was so nice in helping giving tips on adjusting to Freshman life on campus her personality and smile are contagious.

    Bang for the buck

Apply for as many scholarships as possible this may help you from getting student loans. Also apply for financial aid you never know what grant money may be available to you.

    What to do for fun

Join organizations that make a difference in the community. Volunteer when you have free time this makes you feel good about yourself and it helps others that are less fortunate.

    Food and Dining

Eating healthy and exercising with keep you from putting on those dreadful freshman fifteen pounds that comes out of no where. Buy healthy snacks and eat lots of fruits and vegetables.

    Dorm Life

Dorm Life receives 5 stars where I stayed. Keep your dorm clean and organized. Make a list of chores you may want to share with your roommate. Communication is the key to dorm living. Respect your roommate privacy.

    Academic Rigor

You have all your subjects available to you each semester. Make time management your best friend without this your life is hectic. Stay organized, get enough sleep and remember college is not about partying education comes first. Study one hour a day for each class.

    Tips for prospective students

Visit your assigned counselors ask them any questions pretaining to your class schedule or if you're having difficulty in one of your subjects. Don't be afraid to ask for help. Also find upper classmates to talk to on how to adjust to college life and being on your own for the first time being homesick maybe difficult for some.

    In three sentences

Coastal Carolina University has been a A+ experience for me. All of my teachers all want to make sure you succeed by opening their office doors to you at any time giving you the extra help you may need.

Emergency poles are everywhere, and cops are of abundance so it is definitely on lockdown, but the lack of cameras is really inconvenient.

    Clubs and Activities

You have two options: Join one of the many clubs, or make your own! You only need like 10 people to start your own! Some of my friends are starting one with a food bank, and it's awesome how much gratitude they are given!

Great for these types of students

I have met a lot of Marine Biology majors. If you are interested, definitely look more into it. I think it is a great school for any science majors.

    What to do for fun

There is so much to do for fun at CCU. We have such a huge variety, and it's all free!

    Food and Dining

The variety of food is incredible, but the food itself, doesn't taste all that great; typical cafeteria food.

    Dorm Life

I feel like dorm life could be better; the people are what make the dorms, not the supplies or furnishings.

    Academic Rigor

For the academics, you must apply yourself, but anything can be done, easily.

    Tips for prospective students

Be expectant of changes; it's different, but worth it.

    In three sentences

I love Coastal Carolina University. The campus size is so convenient, as well as the broad spectrum of people on campus. I really just don't like the food, so have extra for better food.

Great for these types of students

Coastal Carolina University is great for students who enjoy the green scenery. Coastal has a beautiful pond and bridge. The entire campus is surrounded by trees. Also Coastal is a very clean campus, there are restricted sections for smokers, and many students recycle.

    Tips for prospective students

To be a student at Coastal you should be open to many types of people, as Coastal is a diverse university. Students who can work hard, complete their work, and study should have no problem getting through their semesters here at Coastal.

    Bang for the buck

As great as Coastal Carolina is, it is very expensive, especially for out of state students. While I cannot see myself being at any other university, I do wish it was more affordable.

    Am enjoying being here

Not only is the learning environment great, but also student life. There are so many clubs at Coastal, one for just about everyone. From greek life, a club about sharks, or a fashion society, Coastal has a lot to offer to anyone who is interested. Also, Coastal Carolina University is small, and since I live on campus it is nice having the school buildings nearby and not having to walk miles just to reach them.

    Am learning a lot

Here at Coastal Carolina University the class sizes are typically 25-35 students. Every professor can give each student individual attention if needed, making Coastal's learning environment that of a great and relaxed one.

I would recommend that everyone stay on campus for at least a year. I would also recommend that you go to as many events as possible. Make connections that will help you throughout college.

    In three sentences

Coastal Carolina is a beautiful South Carolina University. The atmosphere around the campus is great and filled with expectations. Coastal Carolina is a top notch Academic School.

    Campus Safety

Our security is top notch here, our campus police are actual police officers and not security guards. There are emergency call boxes all around campus and the police make themselves known and present. We also have an alert system which sends out text messages and emails to both students and parent when anything of necessity occurs.

    Greek Life

We have Greek life here, I personally am not associated with it, therefore I cannot comment on it, both sororities and fraternities are present.

    Clubs and Activities

There is everything you can imagine for clubs and activities. This is a Division 1 athletic school so the offer all sorts of sports and also club sports. There is also clubs for community services to mStudents Against Drunk Driving. And so very many more.

Great for these types of students

All students. This University has some majors that I didn't know were considered majors.

Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus

Having been here at short while, I have not yet come across any unusual traditions.

    Bang for the buck

I am so glad that I attend this University, I am getting a great education and a wonderful opportunity to grow into an adult. All the while having a good time and making lifetime friendships. Not to mention I will be getting a degree in a field I am extremely passionate about.

    What to do for fun

We are 8 miles from Myrtle Beach. There is so much to do there. The most fun however, is on campus at the lawn where all the clubs sponsor free events and concerts.

    Food and Dining

There are ample places to eat on campus. The main dining hall is enormous and always good with specials everyday. There also small restaurants and chain restaurants just off campus that accepts our dining passes.

    Dorm Life

I love my dormatory. The room sizes are very big and you have a wide variety of ways of living on campus from a single room to quad or even a suite.

    Academic Rigor

Being an education major, the classes are exactly what I expected. The class sizes aren't that big, which means more attention to the students.

    Tips for prospective students

Be prepared. The work is hard, but the professors are absolutely great and always willing to give extra help.

    In three sentences

Attending Coastal Carolina University is the best decision I could have made for myself. I have been here 3 months and love every minute of it. Friends, dorm life, academics and all the extra curricular activities are amazing!

    What to do for fun

Everyday there is an activity that appeals to different types of personalities from art to music to donations and to sporting events. At each event you have a chance to win great prizes!

    Food and Dining

There are a lot of things to choose from such as; deli, pizza, gardens(fruits and vegetables), home cooked zone, and international. The food is always good.

    Dorm Life

Depending on where you are placed, you could have a room to yourself or share with one or two persons. The resident assistants have roommate contracts for us to sign and discuss any problems we may have.

    Academic Rigor

The work isn't very difficult if you pay attention in class. The work is very challenging, however simple to accomplish when taking the proper notes the teacher provides.

    Tips for prospective students

If you need help with any classwork you can go to the writing, math or language center in the respective building. Also, if you schedule a meeting with your professor, they will be more than happy to help you with anything you need. Also, if you are having personal problems there are many great sources you can go to for help such as the nurses or the counselors on campus.

The campus police are on it! Responsive and proactive.

    Greek Life

Greek life is a great way to meet others- not just in your sorority or fraternity, but in all sororities and fraternities on campus.

    Clubs and Activities

Lots of clubs to join and definitely go to club day on Prince Lawn at the beginning of your Freshman year.

Great for these types of students

Those who want a great education in a personable atmosphere. Lots of diversity offered- in activities and people. Loved meeting people from all over the country!

Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus

Chancey is everywhere! Wear teal on Tuesdays.....

    Bang for the buck

For a smaller campus, there are so many clubs and activities. New traditions are starting as our football and basketball teams are becoming more recognized. Concerts offered. Great bang for the buck!!

    What to do for fun

    Da beach!!!!

    Food and Dining

More options are opening up all the time. Like Einsteins as a quick stop on the way to class, or the coffee shop in the library. UP offers lots of sandwiches and quick foods too. Hicks is sorta out of the way when you live at UP, but definitely go there for breakfast on weekends.

    Dorm Life

I lived in University Place apartments and missed out on the traditional dorm life. The food options at UP is improving but breakfast at Hicks Dining hall is better! The RA at UP try to help you feel connected to campus. Crossing 544 is a bummer and we usually drove to campus of took the bus.

    Academic Rigor

The smaller class sizes are a plus and makes most professors more approachable. Be persistent in dealing with the Office of Disabilities, as some of the information we were given initially was inaccurate.

    Tips for prospective students

The admission staff was responsive to my inquiries and the scheduled tour helped to make my decision to enroll at CCU. Orientation over the summer was a great experience giving an introduction to dorm life, help in choosing a major and singing up for classes.

    In three sentences

Beautiful campus, with new buildings being built every year. Professors are mostly helpful and most classes have less than 30 students. Having the beach nearby is not very distracting most days as campus life is busy, but what an asset on spring weekends!!

    Campus Safety

Campus safety is some of the best I have seen. They are constantly patrolling to keep an eye out for us!

    Clubs and Activities

Coastal has numerous clubs and activities to choose from. During the first few weeks of classes they all come out and display what they are about and offer sign up opportunities.

    What to do for fun

Being at Coastal also means being right near the beach! We also have the Coastal Grand Mall which includes a movie theater. There are two outlets to choose from and if clubbing is your thing, Broadway at the Beach has many to choose from.

    Food and Dining

Here you can go to Hicks, which is our buffet styled dining hall, or CINO Grille which houses a salad bar, Subway, Chauncey's Corner (Hispanic food) or Grille Works, which offers traditional American favorites like cheeseburgers and good old chicken fingers. There is also a sushi bar, where the sushi is prepared freshly throughout the day. We also have A bagel shop and coming soon a Starbucks and Chick-fil-a!

    Dorm Life

You can choose to live the traditional dorm life, or opt for a suite styled room and even apply for the University Place apartment styled rooms. Maintenance is really good about fixing anything that might get broken and the security is good as well.

    Academic Rigor

Academics is a main focus here. Freshmen are required to take a University class which really helps you keep up with your grades, registering and even helps you get to make new friends!

    Tips for prospective students

Get to know your professors. Most of them are willing enough to take the time to get to know you on a first name basis and are there to help you out whenever you may need a little assistance.

    In three sentences

Coastal Carolina is a wonderful school. The campus here is beautiful and the teachers are just as bright. They have many food choices so nothing ever really gets old and I really like the apartment styled housing offered here as well!

    Campus Safety

Campus Safety is serious. One of my roommates called on the room two doors down from us and they were there in like 5 minutes.

    Greek Life

I was kind of upset that I saw every Greek except the Deltas. I heard they are coming back though.

    Clubs and Activities

There are plenty of clubs at Coastal. I think there is atleast 200-300 clubs, literally. Then they are all different and there is definetely a club for everyone.

Great for these types of students

Coastal is great for students who want to learn and get involve on campus.

Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus

One, unique location at Coastal is Prince Lawn. It a huge lawn infront of the Prince building where about 55% of all activites happen through out the year. It's definetely a hot spot on campus. If not an event then it's where kids go eat, study and more.

    Bang for the buck

I barely spend any money on campus. Everyone is given cino cash and dining dollars at the beginning of the year that you can use just about anywhere on campus. I really never have to come out of pocket on campus.

    What to do for fun

There are alot of things to do for fun. The campus is always doing something then you live pretty close to the beach and the strip.

    Food and Dining

I always have a hard time deciding what I am going to eat because there is always so many good things to eat on campus.

    Dorm Life

I love it. The dorms are amazing and huge. I live in a quad which is 4 seperate rooms with a living room and bathroom. The rooms are pretty big and I love mine.

    Academic Rigor

It's hard but not crazy hard. As long as you pay attention and study you will be fine.

    Tips for prospective students

The only tip I would giving prospective students is watch who you hang out with because kids come to school for different reasons. Make sure you get a group of friends who are motivated and want to succeed.

    In three sentences

I think that Coastal is the best. I love the location, food, dorm rooms, most of the people and even the teachers are cool. I think I made the perfect decision.

The campus security is always around. I see the police every now and then, but they will come as soon as you call.

    Clubs and Activities

STAR is great! Community service is a big deal, so you might want to join. They have such a great deal of clubs and activities to offer! Guaranteed to have what you want and always open to start another one.

    What to do for fun

Most kids go to the beach, mainly to walk on the strip. Going to Grand Strand is always fun to do when you're bored. There's a great mall nearby. You will always find something to do, even if it's just sitting in the computer lab with friends which is very fun.

    Food and Dining

I will have to give them a handclap. They always have something different. Even if I don't eat what they cook, there's always deli and cereal to back it up. Cino Grille is just like a restaurant. Has awesome food, great back up if the cafeteria is nasty. Bagels are awesome! They also have a Chick fil A and Starbucks. Just fantastic! There could be healthier options though.

    Dorm Life

Awesome! The noise is a little outrageous sometimes. The RA's are terrible at their jobs sometimes because they want people to like them, so I barely get sleep. It's just a great place to meet students and it's great to have a bathroom in the rooms. Figured other colleges couldn't beat that at this price!

    Academic Rigor

Great school academically. They have great classes for your major and you will definitely know what you're talking about when you're done.

    Tips for prospective students

Get involved, but keep up with your work. Don't let people talk you into doing anything that you know isn't you. Stay focused, have fun, and don't be afraid to ask for help.

    In three sentences

Coastal is a great school! Students know how to get involved, but sometimes more than they do work. The professors are unbelievable, very helpful!

    Food and Dining

Hicks has fairly good food. However, the UP Cafe needs some improvement.

    Dorm Life

The school has a number that you can call that will transport you to any part of the campus if you feel unsafe. This comes in handy with night classes. I've personally used it at night because I didn't want to walk in the dark to the other side of campus.

    Greek Life

Greek life is awesome. They are doing something on campus every other day. They do fundraisers and help set up activities for others. The Greek life at Coastal inspires me to join a sorority.

    Bang for the buck

Coastal is one of the cheapest schools in South Carolina, but it is still VERY expensive and Financial Aid is not much of a help.

    What to do for fun

For fun I participated in many of the activities that were happening on campus. Coastal had something on campus every week.

    Food and Dining

The food and dining is the worst part of Coastal. They do not have many choices like other colleges. There is only three places to eat on the whole campus. The food also does not agree with most peoples stomach.

    Dorm Life

The dorms I stayed in were the best. They had four separate rooms with separate bathrooms, a living room and a kitchen with a stove and fridge. It also has a washer and dryer. The only downfall is that I was not placed with the freshmen, so I really didn't get to have that freshmen experience and meet new freshmen.

    Academic Rigor

There are some classes that are more difficult than others, but it all depends if you study or not. If you study, the difficult classes wont be as difficult.

    Tips for prospective students

My tips for prospective students is to make sure you remember why you came to school. Yeah, school is fun but don't get too caught up in the fun and remember you paid money to learn, so learn.

    In three sentences

Coastal is a learning experience. Coastal is exciting. Coastal is my home.

    Clubs and Activities

Here at Coastal, there are so many clubs to get involved in. no one wants to sit in their dorm all day once they're done with their classes! So you can join a club. We also have a lot of campus activities on the regular.

Great for these types of students

If you are planning to study biology, marine science, anatomy, anything in that area (a science major) Coastal would be the perfect place to come to study that field.

    Bang for the buck

Coastal's tuition is relatively low compared to other colleges, but the campus is beautiful! They offer so much to students, the dorms are nice looking, and it is located less than 30 minutes from Myrtle Beach!

    What to do for fun

They've built a new gym facility. You can join numerous clubs or play a sport! you can also go Greek!

    Food and Dining

The food here is awesome! Nothing like your typical school lunch!

    Dorm Life

I live in a apartment through Coastal Carolina University, but i have seen the dorms and they aren't too bad! They actually look very comfortable and homey.

    Tips for prospective students

Have all of your financial aid in order so things can be easier once you get here & stay on top of VERY important!

    In three sentences

Coastal Carolina University is a great school so far. Moving in & learning where my classes were located was a easy task thanks to them. Coastal is a perfect school for me since I am majoring in biology.

    Greek Life

Greek Life has a very profound presence on campus. It is seen as a very positive influence on students who are involved.

    Clubs and Activities

There is an abundance of clubs here, and it is very easy to start your own! Students always tell other students to GET INVOLVED, because it contributes to quality student life on campus. The recreational center is also something worth talking about!!

Great for these types of students

Students who love the outdoors will find an abundance of recreational activities!

    Bang for the buck

Coastal is fairly inexpensive compared to other US schools. The education provided is of good quality. Just like any school, you will get more bang if you put in the work.

    What to do for fun

Coastal is not far from Myrtle Beach. This means that there is plenty to do for fun! Campus itself is always putting on fun events, but the beach provides its own entertainment as well. You will most likely be able to find what you are looking for here when it comes to extracurriculars.

    Food and Dining

It isn't fine dining, but it is possible to eat fresh and healthy!

    Dorm Life

    Academic Rigor

I have a 4.0 and I have not lost much sleep on school work. This gives you the opportunity to learn how to challenge yourself!

    Tips for prospective students

Do not expect the University brand alone to get you into the career that you want to be in. The cool thing about this school is that you have to make a name for yourself. Your work outside of school is what counts, and is greatly rewarded.

    In three sentences

This campus is like an extremely large family. You feel southern hospitality, challenge, and concern here. The experience here is what you make of it, meaning that if you invest in the university, the university invests in you tenfold!

    Campus Safety

Coastal is covered with campus safety. Everywhere you go there is either a Coastal Security guard or a Coastal Police Officer passing by. This is very comforting especially at night and for all parents.

    Greek Life

There is Greek Life on campus. I am not involved in it but two of my roommates are. They love it and really welcome people into their family, its a great way to meet people.

    Bang for the buck

There is campus living just down the road from campus itself. The best part about living here is there is a free shuttle to campus. I do not have a car at school and this shuttle really helps. It goes to campus but also goes to walmart, into town and to the beach.

    What to do for fun

There are many clubs on campus that you can join. A brand new gym was built with a rock climbing wall, which seems fun! Also on campus there are basketball courts, beach volleyball courts and pools with activity houses.

    Food and Dining

As a transfer student, I can say the food here is a lot better than other schools. There are many places on campus to chose from so you never get sick of the same old food. You can also use your declining balance on your card for Papa John's, which is a nice switch.

    Dorm Life

I love my room! Coming to school I knew I would have one favorite place and its my room. When i get sad and start to miss home, I hangout in my room with some friends and it gives me a sense of home.

    Academic Rigor

The classes here are challenging but in a good way. They allow you to really work hard and feel accomplished when you get a good grade. The professors are very helpful and have many office hours if you need extra help.

    What to do for fun

You are obviously right down the road from Coastal Grand Mall, the beach, and Greek life is another option. I am involved in the greek life on campus and with that you ALWAYS have something to do!

    Food and Dining

You have so many options for food! CINO Grille is more of a laid back style of eating...not like a cafeteria. You order your food just how you specifically like it. You have so many options. There is sushi, an a la carte food option, subway, and more!

    Dorm Life

I enjoyed living on campus my first year. The Woods are particularly my favorite dorm of choice.

    Academic Rigor

I have a good GPA right now in my second year, but even from a freshman I could see a distinct change in difficulty in my classes. They are not extremely hard, but if you don't put in effort you won't get the grades you want.

    Tips for prospective students

Any prospective student should keep in mind that the classes are smaller, but that is beneficial for you if you need one-on-one learning with your teacher. They know your name, it isn't like you are a number at some universities. Also, do not fall into the trap of thinking this is a party school. All schools are party schools. Your education is what YOU make it!

    In three sentences

Coastal's Professors give you all of the attention you need to be a successful student. It has a beautiful and easy to access campus that is not too big or too small. This university is expanding so much and I believe it is a 10!

There are many of clubs and organizations to be involved in around campus. If you get involved, then you will be busy and enjoy the college life and all of the activities that the Coastal Activities Board has to offer you.

    Food and Dining

The Hicks dinning hall where you have a buffet is good, but in my opinion eating at CINO Grille is much better. Cino has a lot of varieties to choose from like you are out to eat at a fast food restaurant. The University Place Cafe is very convenient to students to reside in the University Place community.

    Dorm Life

I love the dorm life. You have a chance to have your own room and or own bathroom. You also have the choice to share a room with someone. The dorms are also clean to the best of ability.

    Academic Rigor

The academic rigor is good. Coastal doesn't have a lot of majors, but the classes are small and the professors help you with things.

    Campus Safety

The campus is becoming more safe each semester. With patrolling officers throughout the day and night students always feel protected. There are student services that allow students to report offensive behavior. The campus also follows a 3-strike policy which terminates those students who seem unsafe for the university.

    Greek Life

The greek life at Coastal Carolina is very active. Some of the most populars at the university are Delta Chi, ADPi, AXD, and Kappa Sigma.

    Clubs and Activities

Great for these types of students

Coastal Carolina is great for beach bums! The weather permits beach-goers to explore the ocean for at least half of the school-year. The university has a tendency to be known for its' partying as well. The Rugby club has had success for the university too!

    Bang for the buck

Coastal Carolina is not too over-expensive. Many well-known universities charge double the amount that Coastal Carolina does. With the atmosphere of the university, I feel the experience is worth the price.

    What to do for fun

Coastal Carolina is located just a few miles from Myrtle Beach, a high volume tourist resort during the summer months. Many different places offer student discounts, including the Sky Wheel, movie theatres, Goodyear, and more. If you're feeling adventurous, Charleston, SC is merely two hours away and carries astonishing history for the United States.

    Food and Dining

There are multiple places to eat on campus at Coastal Carolina. Beyond the places located on campus, with the student ID (CINO) card, students are able to purchase food and supplies at many local businesses that participate and support the university.

    Dorm Life

The dorms at Coastal are surprisingly varied. The university housing is either in dorm form or apartment form. Living in the dorms may minimize privacy but it's a unique way to build strong relationships. The apartment style dormatories are much more spacious and offer a homestyle atmosphere with neighbors.

    Academic Rigor

Coastal Carolina isn't known for its' academics but it does have many valuable majors and programs to offer. Coastal is one of few schools to host the PGA program with it's own golf course! There is a prestigious and unique major in Marine Science and if you maintain the grades as a Biology or Exercise & Sport Science major, you can further your education to obtain a profession in healthcare.

    Tips for prospective students

Be prepared to balance your studies with your social life. Coastal Carolina has a wide variety of clubs and has a very active greek life. During the fall and spring, the beautiful weather and salty air make it difficult to be producive; don't fall victim to the weather!

    In three sentences

Coastal Carolina is a rapidly expanding university with a wide variety of students from all over the country. The campus and region are magnificent and tend to be uplifting to students. While the expansion has caused some inconveniences for students and staff, the campus will eventually be a must-see for any students considering attending a university in the Carolinas!

The campus is definitely trying to expand food options. They have an all you can eat dining hall that serves its best food at orientation, but the food is just okay after that. CINO and UP cafe have some pretty awesome food, but the rest of the places on campus you either have to pay to eat or use the universitity dining dollars.

    Dorm Life

The dorms here are amazing! Ingle and eaglin are more of a traditional dorm setting here you share a room. The next step up is the woods, which is a living community where four people each have their own room, but share a bathroom, shower, sink area, and dining space. The best (but most expensive housing) is definitely University Place. Here you get your own room with a full bed, your own walk in closet, and your own shower (most of the time) and bathroom. You share a washer and dryer with 4 other people, a full kitchen, and a living room. They are pretty awesome!

    Academic Rigor

Some people here think the classes are a joke, and those are often the people who fail. Some professors dumb down course material, but you definitely need to know the stuff for exams. You can learn as much as you want to in these courses, and I have found that I learn a lot of material. College has a lot less grades than high school per semester, so even one bad one can lead to a bad GPA.

    Tips for prospective students

Make sure you visit the campus before you commit to coming. Some students really hate this school (I don't know why), but you should definitely know what you are going into before you commit. Also, college is what you make of it so don't expect the experience to be handed to you on a silver platter.

    In three sentences

This college is definitely a great college to go to. Although it may not be top notch, it has some awesome professors and interesting courses. Not to mention it is also a beautiful campus located not to far from a beach!

    Campus Safety

Security and police presence is obvious, safety is important.

    Clubs and Activities

Variety of different organizations. Volunteer, Religious, Army ROTC etc.

Great for these types of students

    Marine Science majors, veterans

    Bang for the buck

The education is worth what you pay for. Transportation and housing need some work.

    What to do for fun

Recreation center, Myrtle Beach is a few miles away.

    Food and Dining

Not much variety but quality is okay. Food not on meal plan is expensive

    Dorm Life

There is no roommate compatibility survey, the freshman dorms are tiny and conflict may arise. The location of the dorms is ideal.

    Academic Rigor

Similar to high school but with a higher workload.

    Tips for prospective students

Just pay attention, attend classes, take good notes and respect your professor.

    In three sentences

Coastal is in a great location. Coastal is has great faculty/staff. Coastal has good recreational opportunities.

    Campus Safety

CCU campus is pretty contained meaning we do not have a lot of traffic from non affiliated people. I pull all nighters in the photography dark room rather often and I do feel very safe. There are public safety officers that have a very visible presence on the campus. There is a text and email alert system in place to let students know about any kind of emergency. Over all, I feel very safe on campus.

    Greek Life

Looks like those involved have a good time. I am not in greek life so I cannot comment on it heavily.

    Clubs and Activities

I am personally involved in aesthetics club, SAGE (students advocating for gender equality), Student artist society, and philosophy club. There are tons of other clubs too!

Great for these types of students

Those who like to work hard and party hard

Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus

If you are in the art department then you will quickly realize that certain studios are hugely contested for mayorship on foursquare! College wide traditions include CINO day (festival for students just before finals week) and TEAL tuesday (every tuesday, wear teal and win prizes!)

    Bang for the buck

Out of state tuition is steep. Instate is not terrible. Over all, I think the bang for your buck is best had if you are the type of student who will go after your education, and not just rely on the teacher to feed it to you.

    What to do for fun

CCU is located very close to the heart of Myrtle Beach, so all the night life and beach vacation atmosphere that you can handle is at your front door!

    Food and Dining

The dining is getting better, but still not as great as some schools I have visited.

    Dorm Life

I am mostly neutral on dorm life since I have never lived in the dorms at CCU, but I have had friends that did. Over all, I have not heard too many complaints. Of the dorms I have visited the suite style is nice and the shared spaces are not too confined.

    Academic Rigor

Some programs of study seem quite difficult (marine science) but others seem like they do not require much of the students (communications) I have had friends graduate from both of these programs, and both had good GPA's but the marine science major had a much heavier work load, while the communications major had plenty of time for parties and extracurricular activities.

    Tips for prospective students

Be sure to arrive very early for class if you are commuting. You will have a very tough time finding a parking spot. If you live on campus, the walk to class is minimal, so PLEASE do not take up the few parking spots the commuters have access to!!!!

    In three sentences

Coastal Carolina University offers a beautiful campus, knowledgeable and helpful professors and great opportunities for students to learn while preparing for the career that they desire. The best thing about CCU is the smaller class sizes. I have never been in a class with more than 50 people, and I have taken several survey classes.

    Campus Safety

We have security guards as well as police officers on our campus 24 hours, 7 days a week. WE have guard shacks that become active at 11PM-7AM and you must have your Coastal ID to get on campus.

    Greek Life

Our greek life is very active. They are definitely ones to look up to on campus.

    Clubs and Activities

We have over 140 clubs and organizations on campus. You can also make your own club if you have 9 other people. No excuse for anyone to NOT be involved.

Great for these types of students

Great for all types of students. We are very diverse in learning style, learning environments, and in making sure all students are being helped in the way they need to be helped.

Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus

WE have #tealtuesday where everyone on campus is asked wear teal and can get cool prizes by doing just that. We also have a huge field day called CINO day. We have our own sign as well that mimics our mascot. We also have a Prince Lawn. Most of our academic buildings branch off of the lawn and it's also an open place where a lot of events go on and students hang out.

    Bang for the buck

7,600$ is pretty cheap, I'd like to say.

    What to do for fun

Coastal sponsors CAB (Coastal Activities Board). The club is in charge of keeping activities going on around the campus. Plus, we are less than 10 miles from the beach, should I say more?

    Food and Dining

There are so many different places to dine on campus from Einstein Brothers Bagels to our Rowdy rooster or the all-you-can-eat buffet at Hicks. (Just to name a few) There will always be somewhere to satisfy your taste buds.

    Dorm Life

Freshman and sophomores are GUARANTEED housing. We strive to get everyone to use the term residence halls. The word dorm brings about a negative connotation. At Coastal, your residence hall isn't just a place to lay your head, it's your home away from home. It's a place for you to grow.

    Academic Rigor

As you get into your major classes, they will become more challenging but also enjoyable. Good thing about it, the student to faculty ratio is 17:1 so you'll only have about 20 students in your upper classes.

    Tips for prospective students

Use your resources: We have plenty of labs (tutoring centers) around campus that are free of charge and student ran. We also have a lap top check out program along with computer labs in all academic buildings and residence halls. Know your professors: Don't just know their names, talk to them and don't be afraid to ask for help. Study: Don't cram! It also helps to study little by little and in small time frames. Get involved: College isn't just about academics. It's about getting to where you want to be and meeting people to push and help in the process.

    In three sentences

We are a small school which makes everything way more personal. The students care about the students just as the professors do. We are #CCUnited!

    Dorm Life

The dorm life is horrible. Do I have to keep saying it? Expect the worst and build your own perspective.

    Academic Rigor

The academic is hard. Remember what I said expect the worst and turn it into your own perspective.

    Tips for prospective students

Focus more on school and not partying. Don't waste your money for something you might not want to do in life. Obey the rules.

    In three sentences

Coastal Carolina is absolutely terrible. Its not the school you go to its how well you do at the school. I love Coastal and I know I contradicted myself but those who read this should expect the worst and build from there, that way they don't get their hopes up.

There are plenty of clubs to join. Coastal holds Club Recruitment Day once or twice a semester on Prince Lawn. That's the time to see all the different clubs Coastal has to offer.

Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus

Its not unusual but at the end of the spring semester the Coastal Activity Board holds CINO Day, a day filled with fun on Prince Lawn. They also do all the festivities for Homecoming Week. At last year's homecoming concert, the headliner was Travis Porter!

    Bang for the buck

I feel like it is but then again I'm an in-state student. An out-of-state student might think otherwise but my suggestion is just to try & make a trip to tour the school. Don't just come because you heard it was a good school then realize it's not the place for you after wasting money, you know?

    What to do for fun

Off-campus wise, you're 15 minutes away from the BEACH!! If you don't have a car, my suggestion is to make friends with someone who does. On-campus wise, there's a game room where you can rent out various gaming systems for FREE, there's also ping pong tables, Foosball tables, pool tables, etc.

    Food and Dining

The food sucks to be honest. There will be some days Hicks or UP Cafe will have something good then other days, you'll waste a meal swipe on some cereal. CINO is about the best place to eat on campus.

    Dorm Life

I rate it a 4/5 because I don't know how dorm life is on campus because I lived in the University Place (UP) apartment style dorms, which is less than 5 min from main campus but still apart of University Housing. Living in UP was cool because I had my own room & bathroom. Only thing my roommates & I had to share were the living room & kitchen area.

    Academic Rigor

I'm a second year student & I haven't run into a bad professor yet. The work can be cumbersome but you just have to put in the time to get the good grades.

    Tips for prospective students

Tour the campus. If you decide it's the right fit for you, when you get there for the semester, make friends with the staff & utilize your resources. Like the saying goes, it's not about what you know but who you know.

    In three sentences

One of the best schools in South Carolina. Affordable. Professors know you by name.

Lots of student days and activities offered through the school, but with such close access to the beach, when the weather is warm, that is where everyone will be.

    Food and Dining

Recently, the school has put in more dining options such as an Einstein's Bagels and a Subway, and soon they are supposed to be adding a Starbucks.

    Dorm Life

    Does not apply to me.

    Academic Rigor

The teachers here work hard to make sure you, as the student, are learning at your highest potential. Depending on the subject, some classes are extremely difficult, while others are not.

    Tips for prospective students

Try to live close to the school and walk or take a shuttle, unless you have an 8 o'clock class you will probably be fighting for parking.

    In three sentences

There are things about Coastal Carolina that make it a great school, such as the location near Myrtle Beach, access to the beach, nice weather, and an active school with clubs, sports, organizations, and student activities. The only complaint I have with the school is the lack of parking for the amount of students attending. Besides that the school is an excellent choice.

Normally some friends and I will gather at my place and play some games on the Xbox. We go to the boardwalk at the beach, we go to the outlets, and or we find something that interests us to get into. I usually like to kick back in the dorm living area and watch movies, eat popcorn, and relax.

    Food and Dining

The food is okay if you don't mind eating as if your living in a fast food environment everyday. Some places have decent food to where you don't always have to cook at home and not eat on campus or eat out at a restaurant. Some things could be changed or modified to be better than it is. Some places could incorporate more foods geared towards those who are trying to get fit and be healthier.

    Dorm Life

In my experience I think the dorm life needs some work. There are some aspects that need to be re-evaluated when it comes to having a house that should be livable for each semester. As well as the appliances, cabinets, walls, paint, doors, locks, and a little extra room security. Overall, the room is very spacious enough to give you that feeling of making it comfortable to your taste and as if you were home.

    Academic Rigor

The academic rigor is somewhat challenging depending upon what course you are taking. Especially depending upon your field of study. Some courses may challenge you more than others and you feel as if it didn't give you that edge or you didn't learn as much as you thought you could from the course.

    Tips for prospective students

I would tell prospective students to just check all the specific details of every aspect dealing with housing, meal plans, organizations, and clubs. Get involved in things that interest you. Also, make choices that are best for you and not by what someone else who has attended or is currently attending made.

    In three sentences

This school is a good place to attend if it has your desired degree. It has a variety of aspects that can appeal to your eyes. It also offers a chance to meet many good people.

    Clubs and Activities

CCU has a club for everyone whether it is academic or personal interest!

Great for these types of students

This school is great for many types of students but especially for those looking to major in Marine studies given the geographical location and accesses that include beaches, rivers, marshes, swamps, ponds, lakes and etc.

This school offers a chance to experience what it would be like to live on vacation everyday ( at least while you're not studying).

Several places to eat located on-campus as well as a wide variety of food. Also, because this school is located in a tourist town, there are tons of places to eat and a lot of foreign for specialty foods.

    Dorm Life

All of my friends who have stayed on-campus loved it. It is always especially accommodating in the sense that it has so many dorm styles that are offered to students so that they have more flexibility in dorm layout, number of roommates, and dorm cost.

    Academic Rigor

Amazing support for new students as well as existing ones from day one to graduation and moving on to a graduate program.

Review qualification requirements beforehand. Make sure that you have all required material before the last minute, something will come up!

The food can be a little bland, but the dessert is amazing and usually a little salt and pepper does the trick.

    Dorm Life

Nice size dorms. Went there for an art camp over the summer. It took some getting use to.

    Academic Rigor

Teachers are nice and willing to help

Intramural sports each semester! Join one and have a good time!

    What to do for fun

Broadway is always a happening place for college students. With multiple clubs and bars in Celebrity Circle, you never go wrong with going here for a good time. Also for the most part a lot of the clubs here are 18+.

    Food and Dining

I wish there were more options for food on-campus dining but we do have very nice dining options. We just received a Starbucks in our library so that was a nice addition.

    Dorm Life

I am not applicable for answering about the dorm life. I lucked up and live in University Place which is apartment style housing but owned by Coastal. The apartments are extremely nice and very spacious.

    Academic Rigor

Depends on the major for how rigorous your classes will be. I am enrolled in Marine Science which is one of the best, yet hardest majors at Coastal.

    What to do for fun

Myrtle beach is 15 minutes away, what's there NOT to do that's fun?

    Food and Dining

They have a handful of eateries, but the food isn't too good. The salad bar and deli sections never fail, but some improvement could help. They finally added a Starbucks in the library so that helps a lot and we still have more places being added on for next year.

    Dorm Life

The dorms vary depending if you're on-campus or off. The on campus is actually not too bad, better then a number of colleges I have seen. The place to stay at is off-campus at University Place, it's paradise compared to the on-campus facilities.

    Academic Rigor

The teachers are amazing. They care about you, but still give you the room for failure in order to learn from it. A number of academic resources are provided for students struggling in Math, English, and Languages.

    Tips for prospective students

Don't bring a lot of cloths, but bring a mixture of clothing. The weather here is crazy! One day it'll be in the 80's, the next day it'll be in the low 40's. Bring rain boots and umbrellas because they will become your best friend.

    In three sentences

Coastal is full of opportunities to explore outside your comfort zone. They have a wide variety of services to accustom the students need; ranging in clubs, sports, and jobs. There's no chance of you staying in your dorms, you'll find something!

    I guess its pretty safe.

    Greek Life

I don't really know much about greek life.

    Clubs and Activities

There are a good bit of clubs on campus, usually some event going on if you look for it.

Great for these types of students

People who want to get and education in a relaxed environment. Also you must be self motivated because there are a lot of distractions here

Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus

Teal Tuesday and probably some others that I don't know about.

    Bang for the buck

Cheap school... well for instate students. Those out of state students though... hate to be them. Also the rates haven't been having high increases like many other schools have been having.

    What to do for fun

The beach, the strip which is near the beach, and clubs which are near the beach. There are also a few spots off campus near campus that lots of people go to. Student center is expanding.

    Food and Dining

More food stations coming. Sometimes the food is good, sometimes its not, which is the way cafeteria food is. Kinda expensive though.

    Dorm Life

Dorms are pretty nice, no communal bathrooms, so I give it 5 stars. I got one of the handicap rooms so it was huge haha. Housing is expanding, so maybe by the time I become a Junior I won't have to move off-campus. But off-campus is in a way cheaper than on-campus. I don't really know why people hate the dorms so much.. Its a college dorm and is a lot better than many of the other colleges dorms I have stayed at and visited over the years. Then again, I might be kind of biased since the only thing I cared about was not having hall bathrooms and bugs.

    Academic Rigor

Classes are not hard but you still learn things. Many people feel as if the academics here are awful because we don't have large amounts of work to do. If you want to go to a school where they work you to the bone, this is not the place for you. But class sizes are small. None of the classes that I have taken so far has had over 25 students.

    Tips for prospective students

Try to knock out as many general studies requirements prior to attending college. Like all colleges, Coastal is what you make it.

    In three sentences

Nice school. Growing in many ways. And is in a relaxed environment.

Campus security makes sure to canvas all areas of campus housing during night and day more frequently through night.

    Greek Life

Greek Life is HUGE frats and sororities are really involved and spread out throughout campus very easy to see when pledging is happening.

    Clubs and Activities

Multiple clubs available there's a place for everyone and to people of all interests , we even have a quittich team like harry potter, funny right.

    Bang for the buck

Its worth the money you spend for the school but outrageous for housing, although it may appear nice at times its not worth it and you would prefer to have your OWN place. You meet a lot of people most of the people their are friendly and open to meet others. But it does seem Clique-y at points.

    What to do for fun

Plenty of things to do for fun nightlife is always raging, the boardwalk, the beach, and multiple clubs around available to students.

    Food and Dining

Hicks dining hall is just like your typical college buffet-style eatery. UP cafe is based upon whats on the menu, CINO Grille is definitely the best place to eat at though. Hackler Grille does provide meal equivalency but is usually for golfers.

    Dorm Life

Dorm Life is okay, you really get an opportunity to meet LOTS of people from all walks of life and different backgrounds so its very diverse. Apartment suites are offered on/off campus so housing is available.

    Academic Rigor

Its pretty tough here academically teachers take their jobs and the grading seriously but also care to help out students as they will curve test and exam grades. Teachers also love to stay behind and answer students questions regarding their grades, discussion topics, and any other topic they need to discuss.

    Tips for prospective students

Be Careful, have fun but not too much Know that the beach will be there both semesters so don't get all wrapped up in going there all the time, the night life may be tempting but as a sophomore I encourage getting the work done before play is a less stressful option and also allows the time for more fun to be had.

    In three sentences

Coastal Carolina University offers a plethora of majors and advancement opportunities to learn and explore their options, with beach life not to far students get an opportunity to unwind every weekend and get away from the frustration of classes. Marine Science majors will feel very special here as travel experiences during class are available and teachers really get involved.
