Categories Comments Great for these types of students Coastal has a wonderful performing arts program ranging from music to dance to acting. Also, the marine science program is wonderful, because you get a chance first-hand to deal with and discover the marine life.
Tips for prospective students Study, study, study! In high school, classes and tests were nothing like they are in college. As long as you go into a test, confident and well prepared, you will be fine! Also, don't let the whole being on your own, get to you. If you focus more on your studies, and less on hanging out, you will succeed. Strive for only the best!
Bang for the buck I would not choose any other school to go to, even if it were cheaper. Almost every class feels well worth it. Coastal isn't perfect, but it is close.
Am enjoying being here I love the atmosphere of it all and the professors make you want to be in class.
Am learning a lot Every class I walk out of, I feel that I have learned something new each day. Whether it be how to communicate in groups effectively to what began the civil war, I feel more knowledgeable.

Categories Comments Great for these types of students Coastal Carolina meet the needs of each student mentally, physically, and spiritually. From the fun weekly activities out on Prince Lawn to Sunday morning church services. Most of the University have fun, loving, genuine people that have touch my heart. I have allowed CCU to be a great College choice for me, and I am sure it could be a great one for you also.
Tips for prospective students There is nothing like experience in a classified field, definately the Professors at my college have. For example, my area of study is Business Finance. Many of the Professors have made the business ventures that I hope to make some day. It is great having someone teach you what they have been through, and they understand what all it takes to get you there. With the Professors, classroom settings, and advisement staff I was sold on Coastal Carolina University.
Bang for the buck The advisement staff at CCU is nothing shy of stellar. They advise over a thousand students, but do their absolute best to get to know you on a personal level. You will feel really comfortable with the advisors at CCU, they try to do their job with one goal in mind to allow you to get your degree earlier or definately on time.
Am enjoying being here Personally it is an atmosphere where you can succeed. You can seek extra help from your professor, which involves you to establish relationship where he or she knows you on a first name basis. Whenever the semester comes to an end that professor knows that you have been seeking the necessary help to receive an outstanding grade. At CCU I have an extra help session with my professor, who is easy to reach in a 30-50 student classroom.
Am learning a lot I am writing to inform you of the great things Coastal Carolina University has done for me. I'm sure many of people have mentioned how college will be some of the best years of one life, because that is what was told to me before I entered college. It wasn't until I set foot on the lovely campus of Coastal Carolina that I truly believed that this was going to be a great experience for me. First and foremost, the classroom setting at Coastal is phenomenal, for very important reasons. The class sizes are not too large, nor to small. It is a great opportunity to bond with classmates, and almost have a one on one with you and or your professor individually.

Categories Comments Bang for the buck Even though Coastal is a little on the expensive side, i feel as if i have gotten everything i need for the price i am paying.
Am enjoying being here Coastal has a variety of people just looking to have fun and learn. It is a wonderful environment to be in. Everyone you meet is just incredibly nice and caring. Also, the weather you get just makes you want to wake up in the morning and head to class.
Am learning a lot At Coastal all the classes are usually a good teacher to student ratio. Therefore, you feel very satisfied it what you have learned. All the teachers i have had have been a great help and will work with you whenever you feel as if you aren't learning the material.

Categories Comments Great for these types of students Great for people who enjoy an engaged community and lots of events, as well as those who like to have smaller classes.
Tips for prospective students Make sure you apply early, I applied late and got stuck with a really hectic freshman schedule. Of course you must study, my freshman year was my worst year because I treated it like high school.
Bang for the buck Coastal is great for the price, I am a Computer Science major and there is always something going one for us. We have independent and group personal projects pretty much all year round.
Am enjoying being here Coastal is an experience all in itself, a very tight knit community is here, if you decided to come, look me up, id be glad to show anyone around.
Am learning a lot Every Class is involved, even the somewhat larger ones, I have not been in a class with more than 50 people. I like it that way, more one of one with professors helps a lot.

Categories Comments Great for these types of students Out going. Fun. Hard working.
Tips for prospective students Don't get caught up in the beach life or party scene. Be a balanced college student, especially here, it can get tricky balancing it.
Bang for the buck Location.
Am enjoying being here What is there not to love about Coastal. We are 10 minutes from the beach. You can walk anywhere and every where on campus. The campus is beautiful. Its usually sunny. There are so many people to meet.
Am learning a lot Each class I take offers something new. Most of the time I walk into a class with the mind set of man this is going to suck and I find myself walking out saying this is pretty cool and my professor is mad funny. There are so many different teachers which offer such different learning styles that I feel allows all students an equal chance in learning.

Categories Comments Campus Safety Coastal's campus police is available 24/7 and cruise through campus often to make sure everything is safe and secure. They have an emergency button in each room, so if something happens and you can't get to a phone they are notified. If you are walking on campus and its late and you don't feel safe they have emergency buttons you can press so the campus police can accompany you to your destinations.
Greek Life Great. They play a big influence on campus. Especially when it comes to events on campus. They have plays, step shows, and parties.
Clubs and Activities They have many different clubs and activities. They are what makes Coastal Carolina. They have zumba, a gym, and many different clubs. Such as lacrosse, rec basketball, flag football, and many more.
Great for these types of students Great for students who are responsible, knowledgeable, and open minded. But, also for those who keep to themselves because it is not to crowded. The classes are high school size and the Campus size is great you can get to class in hurry if you have too.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus Sometimes they have CINO day which is pretty much like a student appreciation day. Not too out of the usual, but very fun.
Bang for the buck Coastal Carolina is a very expensive school if your coming out of state, but it is worth it. The education and experience you receive is great.
What to do for fun Coastal Carolina is 10 minutes away from the beach. There are many different clubs to join. Also, the boardwalk has many different things to see. There are many different clubs to go to enjoy parties.
Food and Dining Very Good. There are plenty of different food options. Also, different places to eat on campus. On different days they have different specials such as cajun, soul food, chinese, and etc. But, some things stay constant like pizza, fries, subs, salads, and more.
Dorm Life Great. You have your own space and living room. Plenty of privacy and space. You share a bathroom, but only the shower. You have your own toilet and sink. The closet space is very descent. It comes with a dresser and a very comfortable bed. 2 people could sleep in it.
Academic Rigor It's difficult if you don't study and manage time well. The professors work with you if you work with them. Try not to fall behind. Prepare for tests and quizzes at the least a day in advance, so some knowledge gets through.
Tips for prospective students Come ready to work and learn. But, also have a good time. Your professors may be a pain and sometimes your best friend, but just do your work and stay focused. Also, make sure they learn your name. Participation can make college so easier and you learn more. That makes you look better and the professor will be more lenient.
In three sentences I feel coastal is a great school. It satisfies and goes beyond a college experience. I feel happy and safe here.

Food and Dining food and dining has a great variation of different foods. the dining facilities are very accomodating.
Dorm Life dorm life is excellent. it is an opportunity to meet with other students and be involved in the college community. the staff are very nice.
Academic Rigor the acadamic rigor is pretty good, it is not too easy or too hard. coastal carolina challenges students in their courses and stimulates their minds.
Tips for prospective students study is the key to make good grades. repetition of what is taught is the key to learning, so go over information discussed in class. find a good balance between school work and your social life.
In three sentences coastal carolina is an excellet school, it has a pretty good science program. although biochemistry is a new major here, the science departments are pretty fond of this major. the science departments has a good tutoring program

Categories Comments Campus Safety Safe. I receive an instant text message on my phone will any alerts or inclamant weather.
Clubs and Activities I opted to wait until my sophomore year to join any club. Grades first!
Great for these types of students Biology and Science Majors
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus Its pretty normal.
Bang for the buck Tuition is very comparable to other local colleges.
What to do for fun Walk around the campus which is very beautiful. I love going to the gym and working out. We have an enormous amount of equipment. The library is also great and is a very convenient.
Food and Dining Conway has just about anything you want. If not, Myrtle Beach is just a skip away. There are several places on campus to dine at reasonable prices and are conveniently located.
Dorm Life Im able to continue living at home.
Academic Rigor I did well my first semester. 3.1
Tips for prospective students Coastal is a great school to attend and offers many great opportunities. There are so many majors and they continue to grow.
In three sentences This is a great school to attend and still be close to my home and family. The professors really work well with students as a whole or individually if needed. The advisers make time to sit and assist you with any questions or concerns you may have concerning needed classes.

Categories Comments Great for these types of students CCU has a very wide variety of people. Anyone can find something that they are interested in.
Tips for prospective students Don't eat at the Commons everyday. Don't drink every night.
Am learning a lot Coastal is such a good school. It may sometimes get the party school name, but it really isn't anything like that. The classes aren't easy, but you will get a lot out of them. I love it at CCU. I would not choose to go anywhere else. The size is perfect. It is not too big, but not too small. The school is expanding as well. We are getting new building this year. They are in the process if being built right now. Coastal is a good choice for anyone looking to have a good college experience! :)

Categories Comments Great for these types of students If you like to do a lot of activities and get to know a wide variety of people, Coastal is the place to come. Not to mention Myrtle Beach is one of the top tourist areas in the nation, so there's plenty of people to meet and make friends with.
Tips for prospective students Don't stress about classes because if you need help, let your professor know and they'll see that you care about your grade and will be more than willing to help you out; they have office hours and will help you out one on one if needed. Not to mention, college is not high school, so study whether or not you have a test so that you can retain what you've learned during lectures.
Bang for the buck Coastal Carolina isn't expensive is said to be one of the top 100 colleges in America, ranking in the top 15%; it is also regarded as one of the best college buys, which means quality education for not too much.
Am enjoying being here The campus is not too big, nor too small and is pretty up to date in technology so you won't feel as though you're going back to the future, it has a good environment about it that attracts many different people to meet everyday, and the class sizes are not too big to where your professors actually learn your name and face instead of feeling like a number.
Am learning a lot Though this is my freshman year, almost all of my professor's here make me want to come to class and not feel as though I'm wasting thousands of dollars; they help me learn things by keeping me interested in the material being taught. Walking out of class and remembering something the next day is the feeling I've had since school started.

Categories Comments Great for these types of students Students that have come to learn and are very sociable should come to this school. The school is known for it outstanding academic programs that are on campus and it is also known for the area that surrounds it.
Tips for prospective students Students should come to Coastal Carolina University. The classes are fun if you attempt to come and learn. They challenge to the degree that you actually have to think in them, but if you come prepared, you will do fine. Students should join at least one club or group once he or she gets to campus because that will make you look more well-rounded once you graduate. Take school seriously but do not forget that we all most have some fun every once in a while.
Bang for the buck Coastal Carolina University is not really expensive. The tuition is generally about $9000 a semester. Also, the school offers different scholarships to help out with the cost and will help you to find outside scholarships as well.
Am enjoying being here Coastal Carolina University is a diverse place that allows students to meet new people and enjoy the activities that are offered. It has various activities and offers fun, exciting opportunities.
Am learning a lot This school has enabled me to pursue my intended career. It has taught me more than I thought I would learn. It has so many opportunities to learn new things with new people.

Categories Comments Great for these types of students People who love the beach, hate cold weather, are interested in theater, marine science, or pro golf management (Coastal has a great program for these majors).
Tips for prospective students If you're a beach person and want to go to the beach everyday, at least bring your books and try to get some homework or studying done. Don't party 2 days before a test, alcohol can cause problems focusing for up to two days. So really just be smart and think about your choices... cliche but true!
Bang for the buck The tuition isn't too bad and the dorms are pretty nice for what you are paying. The cafeteria food isn't always the best, but they have certain meals that I do love. There's always CINO Grill if you don't feel like the commons and that is good. They offer some food that can count as your meal plan and they accept declining balance and CINO cash.
Am enjoying being here The location of the school is definitely a plus. It is about 20 minutes from myrtle beach and the weather is nice all year round. There's a lot of clubs nearby to go to but if that isn't your thing there's not too much night activities.
Am learning a lot The teachers are really good here and they are always willing to help. I was really surprised by that. They have office hours or you can make an appointment to meet with them. Usually before a test, many of the teachers will lead study groups in a class room or the library which help a lot. They take time out of their schedules to make sure you get the material.

Categories Comments Great for these types of students Beach loving students, marine science interested students, independent students (housing here is living in student apartments)
Tips for prospective students Do well in high school! If you get over a 3.5 GPA you will typically get some sort of scholarship!
Bang for the buck Being an out of state student, Coastal is somewhat pricey (~$15,000 a semester) if are an in-state student it is a fraction of the cost. Although I like Coastal, I dont feel it is worth what it is, if it were even $10,000/sem i think that would be more reasonable. (Most of the costs are from living on campus, which normally means living in one of their many on-campus apartments, which are really nice! I live in one now)
Am enjoying being here The campus is beautiful! So many activities! No matter what day it is, there's an activity going on. And if thats not good enough, theres always the pools or the student center!
Am learning a lot As a science major, its important to find a college that fullfills the degree's requirements to be able to succeed in Graduate school. Coastal's professors are extremely intelligent and most of them have their PhD's. You absolutely learn something new in each and every class.

Categories Comments Tips for prospective students Get everything you need submitted in EARLY. Lines are terrible! And join clubs to meet new people because almost everyone is super friendly.
Bang for the buck Definitely worth every penny.
Am enjoying being here I am a commuter, so my time on campus is limited. There are many things to do on campus, I just wish they were early in the day instead of so late at night.
Am learning a lot I am a freshman this year and have only been to class a week, but in that short time I have learned sooo much. The pace is fast, but slow enough to understand and actually learn the material.

Categories Comments Campus Safety for the most part they do a good job of making you feel safe. if you are out late at night at at the library studing till three in the morning and do not have a ride back they will come and drive you back and make sure you make it safe
Greek Life they have many different greek lives you can choose from. they are mostly friendly with other students.
Clubs and Activities you can go to the student center and go upstairs to sign up for different clubs and activities . they also set up a huge day on prince lawn .
Great for these types of students ones who like nice weather, like a smaller campus. likes the beach. who enjoys smaller classes .
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus everyone goes to might as well on thursday because its free for girls to get in and they usually have a good d.j
What to do for fun there is many different options , you can go to broadway at the beach, go to the boardwalk. might as well on thursday or college park.
Food and Dining the foood is okay if you catch it on a good day . sometimes its the samething and you get tired of it. they need to have more places to pick to eat. cino and hicks is not enough and hicks closes at eight. most people get hungry later at night
Dorm Life the dorm rooms are a pretty decent size for a dorm room. they also have up. where you have an appt. and have your own room and bathroom and there is a kitchen.
Academic Rigor the academics for the most part are good. the teachers usually really tend to care and will work with you and make sure you are doing well.
Tips for prospective students make sure you sign up for classes on time because they become full quickly. also sign up for housing or you will get stuck with a small room.
In three sentences the students and teachers here are friends. they could have more places to choose to eat rather then just hicks or cino. they are building a lot of new buildings

Categories Comments Campus Safety I never felt unsafe on campus. Campus security is always riding around night or day. Not only just on campus but around all the dorm living quarters as well. Most of all we had the pull levers if you needed some assistance and you didn't see security right at that moment.
Greek Life Greek Life is very interesting I don't know if this is something I would like to pursue but it's plenty of Greek life on campus.
Clubs and Activities I didn't get involved in any clubs my freshman year but I do advise anyone to get involved in clubs. There are so many activities on campus it's always something to do on campus.
Great for these types of students New students get a intranet cord that comes in your freshman packet when you get your dorm keys so you don't have to buy one in the bookstore.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus A little hide away on campus is the office of the University housing I found a amazing mentor in their she was so nice in helping giving tips on adjusting to Freshman life on campus her personality and smile are contagious.
Bang for the buck Apply for as many scholarships as possible this may help you from getting student loans. Also apply for financial aid you never know what grant money may be available to you.
What to do for fun Join organizations that make a difference in the community. Volunteer when you have free time this makes you feel good about yourself and it helps others that are less fortunate.
Food and Dining Eating healthy and exercising with keep you from putting on those dreadful freshman fifteen pounds that comes out of no where. Buy healthy snacks and eat lots of fruits and vegetables.
Dorm Life Dorm Life receives 5 stars where I stayed. Keep your dorm clean and organized. Make a list of chores you may want to share with your roommate. Communication is the key to dorm living. Respect your roommate privacy.
Academic Rigor You have all your subjects available to you each semester. Make time management your best friend without this your life is hectic. Stay organized, get enough sleep and remember college is not about partying education comes first. Study one hour a day for each class.
Tips for prospective students Visit your assigned counselors ask them any questions pretaining to your class schedule or if you're having difficulty in one of your subjects. Don't be afraid to ask for help. Also find upper classmates to talk to on how to adjust to college life and being on your own for the first time being homesick maybe difficult for some.
In three sentences Coastal Carolina University has been a A+ experience for me. All of my teachers all want to make sure you succeed by opening their office doors to you at any time giving you the extra help you may need.

Categories Comments Campus Safety Our security is top notch here, our campus police are actual police officers and not security guards. There are emergency call boxes all around campus and the police make themselves known and present. We also have an alert system which sends out text messages and emails to both students and parent when anything of necessity occurs.
Greek Life We have Greek life here, I personally am not associated with it, therefore I cannot comment on it, both sororities and fraternities are present.
Clubs and Activities There is everything you can imagine for clubs and activities. This is a Division 1 athletic school so the offer all sorts of sports and also club sports. There is also clubs for community services to mStudents Against Drunk Driving. And so very many more.
Great for these types of students All students. This University has some majors that I didn't know were considered majors.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus Having been here at short while, I have not yet come across any unusual traditions.
Bang for the buck I am so glad that I attend this University, I am getting a great education and a wonderful opportunity to grow into an adult. All the while having a good time and making lifetime friendships. Not to mention I will be getting a degree in a field I am extremely passionate about.
What to do for fun We are 8 miles from Myrtle Beach. There is so much to do there. The most fun however, is on campus at the lawn where all the clubs sponsor free events and concerts.
Food and Dining There are ample places to eat on campus. The main dining hall is enormous and always good with specials everyday. There also small restaurants and chain restaurants just off campus that accepts our dining passes.
Dorm Life I love my dormatory. The room sizes are very big and you have a wide variety of ways of living on campus from a single room to quad or even a suite.
Academic Rigor Being an education major, the classes are exactly what I expected. The class sizes aren't that big, which means more attention to the students.
Tips for prospective students Be prepared. The work is hard, but the professors are absolutely great and always willing to give extra help.
In three sentences Attending Coastal Carolina University is the best decision I could have made for myself. I have been here 3 months and love every minute of it. Friends, dorm life, academics and all the extra curricular activities are amazing!

Categories Comments Campus Safety On the sidewalks and at Prince Lawn there is a post that allows you to communicate with public safety if you do not feel safe. Also, the public safety department are on patrol 24/7.
Greek Life They really bring in the school spirit to Coastal and participate in majority of community service activities.
Clubs and Activities There is at least over 300 Clubs on campus and each club participates in community service activities.
Great for these types of students If you want to workout for free you can go to the HTC Center and workout for free.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus Every year from homecoming the students paint pictures downtown in Conway.
Bang for the buck Coastal Carolina is soo much fun and there is alot of school spirit!
What to do for fun Everyday there is an activity that appeals to different types of personalities from art to music to donations and to sporting events. At each event you have a chance to win great prizes!
Food and Dining There are a lot of things to choose from such as; deli, pizza, gardens(fruits and vegetables), home cooked zone, and international. The food is always good.
Dorm Life Depending on where you are placed, you could have a room to yourself or share with one or two persons. The resident assistants have roommate contracts for us to sign and discuss any problems we may have.
Academic Rigor The work isn't very difficult if you pay attention in class. The work is very challenging, however simple to accomplish when taking the proper notes the teacher provides.
Tips for prospective students If you need help with any classwork you can go to the writing, math or language center in the respective building. Also, if you schedule a meeting with your professor, they will be more than happy to help you with anything you need. Also, if you are having personal problems there are many great sources you can go to for help such as the nurses or the counselors on campus.
In three sentences The faculty and staff are very friendly and caring. There is a great amount of acceptance of diversity among faculty, staff and students. There are a lot of extracurricular activities such as sports and community service organizations.

Categories Comments Campus Safety Emergency poles are everywhere, and cops are of abundance so it is definitely on lockdown, but the lack of cameras is really inconvenient.
Clubs and Activities You have two options: Join one of the many clubs, or make your own! You only need like 10 people to start your own! Some of my friends are starting one with a food bank, and it's awesome how much gratitude they are given!
Great for these types of students I have met a lot of Marine Biology majors. If you are interested, definitely look more into it. I think it is a great school for any science majors.
Bang for the buck Considering the tuition, I think CCU is totally worth it.
What to do for fun There is so much to do for fun at CCU. We have such a huge variety, and it's all free!
Food and Dining The variety of food is incredible, but the food itself, doesn't taste all that great; typical cafeteria food.
Dorm Life I feel like dorm life could be better; the people are what make the dorms, not the supplies or furnishings.
Academic Rigor For the academics, you must apply yourself, but anything can be done, easily.
Tips for prospective students Be expectant of changes; it's different, but worth it.
In three sentences I love Coastal Carolina University. The campus size is so convenient, as well as the broad spectrum of people on campus. I really just don't like the food, so have extra for better food.

Categories Comments Great for these types of students Coastal Carolina University is great for students who enjoy the green scenery. Coastal has a beautiful pond and bridge. The entire campus is surrounded by trees. Also Coastal is a very clean campus, there are restricted sections for smokers, and many students recycle.
Tips for prospective students To be a student at Coastal you should be open to many types of people, as Coastal is a diverse university. Students who can work hard, complete their work, and study should have no problem getting through their semesters here at Coastal.
Bang for the buck As great as Coastal Carolina is, it is very expensive, especially for out of state students. While I cannot see myself being at any other university, I do wish it was more affordable.
Am enjoying being here Not only is the learning environment great, but also student life. There are so many clubs at Coastal, one for just about everyone. From greek life, a club about sharks, or a fashion society, Coastal has a lot to offer to anyone who is interested. Also, Coastal Carolina University is small, and since I live on campus it is nice having the school buildings nearby and not having to walk miles just to reach them.
Am learning a lot Here at Coastal Carolina University the class sizes are typically 25-35 students. Every professor can give each student individual attention if needed, making Coastal's learning environment that of a great and relaxed one.

Categories Comments Campus Safety Coastal Provides 24/7 Security. Also Coastal is a dry campus which means no alcohol is allowed to be on Coastal Property. The security is real cops and there are emergency phones in any direction you look.
Bang for the buck I believe Coastal Carolina is an exceptionally good school for the low cost. For Local( South Carolina ) residents it is only 10,000 a year. You receive the best teaching and best learning environment.
What to do for fun There are many things to do for fun. Coastal is only 10 minutes away from the beautiful Atlantic Ocean. Also there are so many college places to go and hang out. Broadway at The Beach is also one of the biggest places for college students to go and have fun.
Tips for prospective students I would recommend that everyone stay on campus for at least a year. I would also recommend that you go to as many events as possible. Make connections that will help you throughout college.
In three sentences Coastal Carolina is a beautiful South Carolina University. The atmosphere around the campus is great and filled with expectations. Coastal Carolina is a top notch Academic School.

Categories Comments Campus Safety Great Campus safety. Police on patrol and ready to help at all times. They will even pick you up if you care coming from campus at night time so you won;t have to walk alone in the dark.
Greek Life There are many Frats and Sororities and students can talk to the heads of these and see how they can join.
Clubs and Activities There are so many to even name. They have just about any you can think of.
Great for these types of students Students who do well or average. That enjoy having school in a fun environment.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus They have many festivities held on Prince Lawn that are really fun.
Bang for the buck It is a bit pricey, but the luxuries you get are quite better than most schools.
What to do for fun Go to the beach. Go surfing. Walk the Myrtle Beach Strip. Join some of the clubs on campus and you will have a blast.
Food and Dining Dining is awesome. The have dinning dollars. With your meal plan you can choose how many of those you want based off how many meals per week you receive. The food is excellent in the buffet style cafeteria. Pizza and sandwiches are served daily.
Dorm Life Dorm life is great for all students. There are no community baths. Each Dorm has washers and dryers for students to use. They try to match you with people who are similar to you by things you and others enjoy.
Academic Rigor The Academic rigor is not hard at all. Just come to class prepared. Listen and take notes while you listening. Come to class everyday and you'll be sure to pass.
Tips for prospective students Tips would be bring a bike. If you are going to drive on campus make sure you purchase a parking decal. Have the most fun you can because it's a fun school and there is tons of stuff to do, like going to the beach.

Categories Comments Campus Safety The campus police and RHA's are always on there A-game to help make this a very fun, enjoyable and safe place to live and learn.
Greek Life Greek Life is also very key here, It seems to be everywhere too.
Clubs and Activities They have clubs and activities everywhere just find one that suites you best, and if we don't have it start one up!
Great for these types of students Warm weather students, very sporty students, and beach goers.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus S.C.R.E.A.M! It's out sporting fan club. C-I-N-O is our chant to tell everyone that Coastal Is Number One! GO CHANTS!
Bang for the buck For in-state students Coastal is great. For others, such as myself, the out-of state is a lot higher and not very helpful with scholarships. If it wasn't for the college campus and great environment this school had to offer I wouldn't be able to go.
What to do for fun Love hanging out with my friends on Prince Lawn playing frisbee, and of course getting tan and enjoying the wonderful weather at Myrtle Beach!
Food and Dining The dining hall is great a few times a week but can get boring if you are there everyday. There are great places if you have a car just across the street though!
Dorm Life University housing is great at Coastal! The dorms on campus are big, roomy, and are very clean. University Place is the best apartment style off-campus housing you can get through the school.
Academic Rigor The classes and work load is can vary per class but overall they relatively not too hard as long as you do your work, understand what they are teaching, and you hand everything in on time.
Tips for prospective students Do your work and get it done on time. Don't get caught up studying at the beach!

Categories Comments Campus Safety The school has a number that you can call that will transport you to any part of the campus if you feel unsafe. This comes in handy with night classes. I've personally used it at night because I didn't want to walk in the dark to the other side of campus.
Greek Life Greek life is awesome. They are doing something on campus every other day. They do fundraisers and help set up activities for others. The Greek life at Coastal inspires me to join a sorority.
Bang for the buck Coastal is one of the cheapest schools in South Carolina, but it is still VERY expensive and Financial Aid is not much of a help.
What to do for fun For fun I participated in many of the activities that were happening on campus. Coastal had something on campus every week.
Food and Dining The food and dining is the worst part of Coastal. They do not have many choices like other colleges. There is only three places to eat on the whole campus. The food also does not agree with most peoples stomach.
Dorm Life The dorms I stayed in were the best. They had four separate rooms with separate bathrooms, a living room and a kitchen with a stove and fridge. It also has a washer and dryer. The only downfall is that I was not placed with the freshmen, so I really didn't get to have that freshmen experience and meet new freshmen.
Academic Rigor There are some classes that are more difficult than others, but it all depends if you study or not. If you study, the difficult classes wont be as difficult.
Tips for prospective students My tips for prospective students is to make sure you remember why you came to school. Yeah, school is fun but don't get too caught up in the fun and remember you paid money to learn, so learn.
In three sentences Coastal is a learning experience. Coastal is exciting. Coastal is my home.

Greek Life You can join the Greek life by joining a fraternity or sorority. There are so many to choose from!
Clubs and Activities Here at Coastal, there are so many clubs to get involved in. no one wants to sit in their dorm all day once they're done with their classes! So you can join a club. We also have a lot of campus activities on the regular.
Great for these types of students If you are planning to study biology, marine science, anatomy, anything in that area (a science major) Coastal would be the perfect place to come to study that field.
Bang for the buck Coastal's tuition is relatively low compared to other colleges, but the campus is beautiful! They offer so much to students, the dorms are nice looking, and it is located less than 30 minutes from Myrtle Beach!
What to do for fun They've built a new gym facility. You can join numerous clubs or play a sport! you can also go Greek!
Food and Dining The food here is awesome! Nothing like your typical school lunch!
Dorm Life I live in a apartment through Coastal Carolina University, but i have seen the dorms and they aren't too bad! They actually look very comfortable and homey.
Tips for prospective students Have all of your financial aid in order so things can be easier once you get here & stay on top of VERY important!

Categories Comments Campus Safety Campus Safety does its best to provide a safe learning environment to students. I always feel safe walking around by myself.
Greek Life Greek Life has a very profound presence on campus. It is seen as a very positive influence on students who are involved.
Clubs and Activities There is an abundance of clubs here, and it is very easy to start your own! Students always tell other students to GET INVOLVED, because it contributes to quality student life on campus. The recreational center is also something worth talking about!!
Great for these types of students Students who love the outdoors will find an abundance of recreational activities!
Bang for the buck Coastal is fairly inexpensive compared to other US schools. The education provided is of good quality. Just like any school, you will get more bang if you put in the work.
What to do for fun Coastal is not far from Myrtle Beach. This means that there is plenty to do for fun! Campus itself is always putting on fun events, but the beach provides its own entertainment as well. You will most likely be able to find what you are looking for here when it comes to extracurriculars.
Food and Dining It isn't fine dining, but it is possible to eat fresh and healthy!
Dorm Life GREAT accommodations! I could not believe it when I had a furnished apartment my freshman year.
Academic Rigor I have a 4.0 and I have not lost much sleep on school work. This gives you the opportunity to learn how to challenge yourself!
Tips for prospective students Do not expect the University brand alone to get you into the career that you want to be in. The cool thing about this school is that you have to make a name for yourself. Your work outside of school is what counts, and is greatly rewarded.
In three sentences This campus is like an extremely large family. You feel southern hospitality, challenge, and concern here. The experience here is what you make of it, meaning that if you invest in the university, the university invests in you tenfold!

Categories Comments Campus Safety Coastal is covered with campus safety. Everywhere you go there is either a Coastal Security guard or a Coastal Police Officer passing by. This is very comforting especially at night and for all parents.
Greek Life There is Greek Life on campus. I am not involved in it but two of my roommates are. They love it and really welcome people into their family, its a great way to meet people.
Bang for the buck There is campus living just down the road from campus itself. The best part about living here is there is a free shuttle to campus. I do not have a car at school and this shuttle really helps. It goes to campus but also goes to walmart, into town and to the beach.
What to do for fun There are many clubs on campus that you can join. A brand new gym was built with a rock climbing wall, which seems fun! Also on campus there are basketball courts, beach volleyball courts and pools with activity houses.
Food and Dining As a transfer student, I can say the food here is a lot better than other schools. There are many places on campus to chose from so you never get sick of the same old food. You can also use your declining balance on your card for Papa John's, which is a nice switch.
Dorm Life I love my room! Coming to school I knew I would have one favorite place and its my room. When i get sad and start to miss home, I hangout in my room with some friends and it gives me a sense of home.
Academic Rigor The classes here are challenging but in a good way. They allow you to really work hard and feel accomplished when you get a good grade. The professors are very helpful and have many office hours if you need extra help.
Tips for prospective students Do not hesitate if you get accepted, come to Coastal! The school is really building up and everything is brand new. Its a great place to learn and have a good time.
In three sentences I just transferred to Coastal Carolina University in the Fall 2012 and I find it to be a great school. The teachers and faculty here are very helpful with any questions. I reccommend this school, especially because its close to the beach!

Categories Comments What to do for fun You are obviously right down the road from Coastal Grand Mall, the beach, and Greek life is another option. I am involved in the greek life on campus and with that you ALWAYS have something to do!
Food and Dining You have so many options for food! CINO Grille is more of a laid back style of eating...not like a cafeteria. You order your food just how you specifically like it. You have so many options. There is sushi, an a la carte food option, subway, and more!
Dorm Life I enjoyed living on campus my first year. The Woods are particularly my favorite dorm of choice.
Academic Rigor I have a good GPA right now in my second year, but even from a freshman I could see a distinct change in difficulty in my classes. They are not extremely hard, but if you don't put in effort you won't get the grades you want.
Tips for prospective students Any prospective student should keep in mind that the classes are smaller, but that is beneficial for you if you need one-on-one learning with your teacher. They know your name, it isn't like you are a number at some universities. Also, do not fall into the trap of thinking this is a party school. All schools are party schools. Your education is what YOU make it!
In three sentences Coastal's Professors give you all of the attention you need to be a successful student. It has a beautiful and easy to access campus that is not too big or too small. This university is expanding so much and I believe it is a 10!

Categories Comments Campus Safety The Campus Safety people make sure that you are safe. They ride around all the time making sure nothing is wrong, and they also give you rides to and from places if you need to.
What to do for fun There are many of clubs and organizations to be involved in around campus. If you get involved, then you will be busy and enjoy the college life and all of the activities that the Coastal Activities Board has to offer you.
Food and Dining The Hicks dinning hall where you have a buffet is good, but in my opinion eating at CINO Grille is much better. Cino has a lot of varieties to choose from like you are out to eat at a fast food restaurant. The University Place Cafe is very convenient to students to reside in the University Place community.
Dorm Life I love the dorm life. You have a chance to have your own room and or own bathroom. You also have the choice to share a room with someone. The dorms are also clean to the best of ability.
Academic Rigor The academic rigor is good. Coastal doesn't have a lot of majors, but the classes are small and the professors help you with things.
Tips for prospective students Have a clear mind about coming to school and you will love Coastal if you get yourself involved in a lot of things.
In three sentences It is a great environmental school that has lots of opportunities available for everyone. Coastal is also a diverse school and most people are very nice and generous.

Categories Comments Campus Safety The campus is becoming more safe each semester. With patrolling officers throughout the day and night students always feel protected. There are student services that allow students to report offensive behavior. The campus also follows a 3-strike policy which terminates those students who seem unsafe for the university.
Greek Life The greek life at Coastal Carolina is very active. Some of the most populars at the university are Delta Chi, ADPi, AXD, and Kappa Sigma.
Clubs and Activities The university offers tons of different clubs. There are professional clubs, fun clubs, major-related clubs, and just about anything else you can think of.
Great for these types of students Coastal Carolina is great for beach bums! The weather permits beach-goers to explore the ocean for at least half of the school-year. The university has a tendency to be known for its' partying as well. The Rugby club has had success for the university too!
Bang for the buck Coastal Carolina is not too over-expensive. Many well-known universities charge double the amount that Coastal Carolina does. With the atmosphere of the university, I feel the experience is worth the price.
What to do for fun Coastal Carolina is located just a few miles from Myrtle Beach, a high volume tourist resort during the summer months. Many different places offer student discounts, including the Sky Wheel, movie theatres, Goodyear, and more. There are amusement parks, beaches, and plenty of other options to keep occupied in the area. If you're feeling adventurous, Charleston, SC is merely two hours away and carries astonishing history for the United States.
Food and Dining There are multiple places to eat on campus at Coastal Carolina. Beyond the places located on campus, with the student ID (CINO) card, students are able to purchase food and supplies at many local businesses that participate and support the university.
Dorm Life The dorms at Coastal are surprisingly varied. The university housing is either in dorm form or apartment form. Living in the dorms may minimize privacy but it's a unique way to build strong relationships. The apartment style dormatories are much more spacious and offer a homestyle atmosphere with neighbors.
Academic Rigor Coastal Carolina isn't known for its' academics but it does have many valuable majors and programs to offer. Coastal is one of few schools to host the PGA program with it's own golf course! There is a prestigious and unique major in Marine Science and if you maintain the grades as a Biology or Exercise & Sport Science major, you can further your education to obtain a profession in healthcare.
Tips for prospective students Be prepared to balance your studies with your social life. Coastal Carolina has a wide variety of clubs and has a very active greek life. During the fall and spring, the beautiful weather and salty air make it difficult to be producive; don't fall victim to the weather!
In three sentences Coastal Carolina is a rapidly expanding university with a wide variety of students from all over the country. The campus and region are magnificent and tend to be uplifting to students. While the expansion has caused some inconveniences for students and staff, the campus will eventually be a must-see for any students considering attending a university in the Carolinas!

Food and Dining When they are on their A game, the food is world class. When they slack they really SLACK.
Dorm Life I do not know about others but I loved my dorm life. I was never in my own personal dorm I was always across campus at my fraternity brothers. Absolutely amazing.
Academic Rigor It is a hard school depending on what major you are in. Some are easy some are very challenging. It is as hard as you make it. If you love your major and the work, then it should not be an issue
Tips for prospective students DO NOT skip class; especially for those of you with harder/more challenging majors, it costs about 150$ a class everyday, do not waste your money. Categories Comments Campus Safety Students are ensured a safe environment at Coastal Carolina University. Public Safety works well with students and ensures all residents are cared for. Emails to students are promptly sent out if there is an issue that may potentially cause any harm to students.
Greek Life There are several fraternities and sororities one may partake in at CCU. Quite a few of them are special interest based, but others are open ended for those who just wish to join a group. There are also honor societies that are represented by the Greek letters, such as Phi Eta Sigma, a prestigious honorary.
Clubs and Activities There are countless clubs CCU has to offer from Shark Club to religious organizations. There is definitely a club, organization or association for everyone on this campus. The activities are endless as well. CCU offers intramural sports and has empty fields for students to play in. The activities board also puts on a lot of events such as movie nights, opportunities to tie-dye, ice cream socials and much more.
Great for these types of students CCU is a great place for anyone to attend college, but it is especially awesome for beach bums considering how close the campus is to the beach! CCU offers Marine Science, Exercise Science, Interdisciplinary Studies, National Intelligence and many other programs that are rare for college majors. If someone has a special interest, CCU is a great option for them!
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus Coastal Carolina University is famous for Teal Tuesday. Teal and bronze are the school's colors, so every Tuesday students are encouraged to wear teal. Wearing teal on Tuesdays gives students the opportunity to win prizes and be featured in pictures with Chauncey the Chanticleer, the school's mascot. Another tradition is CINO (Coastal Is Number One) week. This is a week that promotes on campus activities and school spirit at CCU. On the last day, Friday, a huge celebration is had on Prince Lawn, celebrating being a Coastal Carolina Chanticleer!
Bang for the buck Coastal Carolina University has a pretty steep tuition rate; however, the experience that one gets from the school is phenomenal. There is always something to do on campus or out in the Myrtle Beach/Conway community. There is never a dull moment at CCU. The degree you will earn will be worth the money and so will the overall college experience.
What to do for fun There are many university organizations based on interest and on campus events one may partake in as a student. With the beach being a few miles down the road and many attractions in the Myrtle Beach/Conway area, the possibilities to have fun are endless. Whether you are doing something on campus or off, there is always something to do. Attending sporting events is fun and free for students. The gym also has free access for students and there are many activities put on by the activity board such as BINGO where students can win really big prizes such as televisions and gaming systems.
Food and Dining There are several on campus dining halls and food plans a student can select from. Each meal plan offers a certain amount of meal swipes per week, and with that, a ration of dining dollars that may be spent at dining establishments on campus such as Java City and Subway. Commuter students have the option to purchase a commuter meal plan and all on campus students are required to purchase a meal plan as they sign up for housing. There are many options to pick from on campus such as buffet style dining and deli choices.
Dorm Life There are many different dorm styles to chose from at Coastal Carolina University. Living on campus is fantastic because it is easy to get involved with on campus events and university organizations. The rules for on campus housing are fair and the University Housing department ensures safety and justice for all students.
Academic Rigor As the class levels one is enrolled in gets higher, the class gets harder. The grading policies are fair - there is an academic integrity code that all students are expected to follow and academic success gets rewarded and recognized. The professors are extremely fair with assignments and work hard to ensure their students are using the academic resources Coastal Carolina University has available for scholastic success.
Tips for prospective students Make studying and getting an adequate night's sleep a habit. It is crucial for your education and potential career that you maintain exceptional grades by keeping your academics and brain in tune. Make sure to get involved with on campus events as much as possible to enjoy campus living to the maximum.
In three sentences Coastal Carolina University is a fun college that provides a healthy learning environment as well as exciting activities to partake in. It is definitely the best beach school the United States has to offer with Myrtle Beach, Surf Side, and other beach towns right down the road. I would recommend it to anyone because each program CCU has to offer provides professors with different backgrounds and experiences in each desired field.

Academic Rigor Pretty easy. Anytime I need help there are many places I can go.
Tips for prospective students Go to class and do your homework is the best advice to succeed also take advantage of professor's office hours.
In three sentences Coastal Carolina has a beautiful campus and many activities are constantly going on. Also there are many clubs and organizations that you can join.

Categories Comments Campus Safety The police here patrol quite often. The university has its own police so the campus is always having a cop around. But they are really strict on parking! Know the rules before you come.
Greek Life Greek life is definitely present at coastal, and is also where a lot of the parties stem from. In the first few weeks of campus, they are all out advertising at club recruitment day. But, the university doesn't necessarily recognize them, and they do not have their own houses.
Clubs and Activities The university has a lot of clubs and organizations to join! There are the traditional sports clubs, then some odds and ends stuff like bowling, fishing, gardening, quidditch and other activities.
Bang for the buck The college experience is definitely what you make of it. A lot of opportunities are available, you just have to take them and you will find yourself enjoying the college life!
What to do for fun This college is labeled as a party school, so that is always a road to take. There is also a lot of university run activities on the main lawn of campus that are interesting. Aside from that, we have broadway at the beach, the beach itself, and a lot of shopping malls to go to!
Food and Dining The campus is definitely trying to expand food options. They have an all you can eat dining hall that serves its best food at orientation, but the food is just okay after that. CINO and UP cafe have some pretty awesome food, but the rest of the places on campus you either have to pay to eat or use the universitity dining dollars.
Dorm Life The dorms here are amazing! Ingle and eaglin are more of a traditional dorm setting here you share a room. The next step up is the woods, which is a living community where four people each have their own room, but share a bathroom, shower, sink area, and dining space. The best (but most expensive housing) is definitely University Place. Here you get your own room with a full bed, your own walk in closet, and your own shower (most of the time) and bathroom. You share a washer and dryer with 4 other people, a full kitchen, and a living room. They are pretty awesome!
Academic Rigor Some people here think the classes are a joke, and those are often the people who fail. Some professors dumb down course material, but you definitely need to know the stuff for exams. You can learn as much as you want to in these courses, and I have found that I learn a lot of material. College has a lot less grades than high school per semester, so even one bad one can lead to a bad GPA.
Tips for prospective students Make sure you visit the campus before you commit to coming. Some students really hate this school (I don't know why), but you should definitely know what you are going into before you commit. Also, college is what you make of it so don't expect the experience to be handed to you on a silver platter.
In three sentences This college is definitely a great college to go to. Although it may not be top notch, it has some awesome professors and interesting courses. Not to mention it is also a beautiful campus located not to far from a beach!

Categories Comments Campus Safety Security and police presence is obvious, safety is important.
Clubs and Activities Variety of different organizations. Volunteer, Religious, Army ROTC etc.
Great for these types of students Marine Science majors, veterans
Bang for the buck The education is worth what you pay for. Transportation and housing need some work.
What to do for fun Recreation center, Myrtle Beach is a few miles away.
Food and Dining Not much variety but quality is okay. Food not on meal plan is expensive
Dorm Life There is no roommate compatibility survey, the freshman dorms are tiny and conflict may arise. The location of the dorms is ideal.
Academic Rigor Similar to high school but with a higher workload.
Tips for prospective students Just pay attention, attend classes, take good notes and respect your professor.
In three sentences Coastal is in a great location. Coastal is has great faculty/staff. Coastal has good recreational opportunities.

Categories Comments Campus Safety CCU campus is pretty contained meaning we do not have a lot of traffic from non affiliated people. I pull all nighters in the photography dark room rather often and I do feel very safe. There are public safety officers that have a very visible presence on the campus. There is a text and email alert system in place to let students know about any kind of emergency. Over all, I feel very safe on campus.
Greek Life Looks like those involved have a good time. I am not in greek life so I cannot comment on it heavily.
Clubs and Activities I am personally involved in aesthetics club, SAGE (students advocating for gender equality), Student artist society, and philosophy club. There are tons of other clubs too!
Great for these types of students Those who like to work hard and party hard
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus If you are in the art department then you will quickly realize that certain studios are hugely contested for mayorship on foursquare! College wide traditions include CINO day (festival for students just before finals week) and TEAL tuesday (every tuesday, wear teal and win prizes!)
Bang for the buck Out of state tuition is steep. Instate is not terrible. Over all, I think the bang for your buck is best had if you are the type of student who will go after your education, and not just rely on the teacher to feed it to you.
What to do for fun CCU is located very close to the heart of Myrtle Beach, so all the night life and beach vacation atmosphere that you can handle is at your front door!
Food and Dining The dining is getting better, but still not as great as some schools I have visited.
Dorm Life I am mostly neutral on dorm life since I have never lived in the dorms at CCU, but I have had friends that did. Over all, I have not heard too many complaints. Of the dorms I have visited the suite style is nice and the shared spaces are not too confined.
Academic Rigor Some programs of study seem quite difficult (marine science) but others seem like they do not require much of the students (communications) I have had friends graduate from both of these programs, and both had good GPA's but the marine science major had a much heavier work load, while the communications major had plenty of time for parties and extracurricular activities.
Tips for prospective students Be sure to arrive very early for class if you are commuting. You will have a very tough time finding a parking spot. If you live on campus, the walk to class is minimal, so PLEASE do not take up the few parking spots the commuters have access to!!!!
In three sentences Coastal Carolina University offers a beautiful campus, knowledgeable and helpful professors and great opportunities for students to learn while preparing for the career that they desire. The best thing about CCU is the smaller class sizes. I have never been in a class with more than 50 people, and I have taken several survey classes.

Categories Comments Campus Safety We have security guards as well as police officers on our campus 24 hours, 7 days a week. WE have guard shacks that become active at 11PM-7AM and you must have your Coastal ID to get on campus.
Greek Life Our greek life is very active. They are definitely ones to look up to on campus.
Clubs and Activities We have over 140 clubs and organizations on campus. You can also make your own club if you have 9 other people. No excuse for anyone to NOT be involved.
Great for these types of students Great for all types of students. We are very diverse in learning style, learning environments, and in making sure all students are being helped in the way they need to be helped.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus WE have #tealtuesday where everyone on campus is asked wear teal and can get cool prizes by doing just that. We also have a huge field day called CINO day. We have our own sign as well that mimics our mascot. We also have a Prince Lawn. Most of our academic buildings branch off of the lawn and it's also an open place where a lot of events go on and students hang out.
Bang for the buck 7,600$ is pretty cheap, I'd like to say.
What to do for fun Coastal sponsors CAB (Coastal Activities Board). The club is in charge of keeping activities going on around the campus. Plus, we are less than 10 miles from the beach, should I say more?
Food and Dining There are so many different places to dine on campus from Einstein Brothers Bagels to our Rowdy rooster or the all-you-can-eat buffet at Hicks. (Just to name a few) There will always be somewhere to satisfy your taste buds.
Dorm Life Freshman and sophomores are GUARANTEED housing. We strive to get everyone to use the term residence halls. The word dorm brings about a negative connotation. At Coastal, your residence hall isn't just a place to lay your head, it's your home away from home. It's a place for you to grow.
Academic Rigor As you get into your major classes, they will become more challenging but also enjoyable. Good thing about it, the student to faculty ratio is 17:1 so you'll only have about 20 students in your upper classes.
Tips for prospective students Use your resources: We have plenty of labs (tutoring centers) around campus that are free of charge and student ran. We also have a lap top check out program along with computer labs in all academic buildings and residence halls. Know your professors: Don't just know their names, talk to them and don't be afraid to ask for help. Study: Don't cram! It also helps to study little by little and in small time frames. Get involved: College isn't just about academics. It's about getting to where you want to be and meeting people to push and help in the process.
In three sentences We are a small school which makes everything way more personal. The students care about the students just as the professors do. We are #CCUnited!
