    Do not be afraid to show that you are an individual; the school loves to say that the student population is diverse in religion, ethnic background, economic class and student personality. Share your passions and the experiences that have made you who you are. And as with most colleges, stress that your leadership skills and the contributions you have made in order to make the world a better place.

    Be honest on your housing applications. Do research into classes and professors when selecting your courses. Make sure you are ok with the sheltered nature of the college. Make sure you are prepared for a not very diverse student body.

    Take advantage of as many events on campus as possible, especially the ones with free food! Join lots of clubs and get involved with your academic department. Finally, Colgate has lots of great research opportunities over the summer or during the semester.
