I came to Colgate with a pretty narrow idea of what I wanted to study and what I wanted out of my collegiate career. Colgate has, however, reshaped my ideas about the potential of a college education. I thought that both the core program and the distribution requirements would be a nuisance, but I have actually discovered a wide range of interests that I probably would not have explored had these programs not been a vital part of the Colgate experience. Colgate is a small, sheltered liberal arts college with challenging academics and a vibrant social scene, but at times it can be too small town for some people. If students search for the right people and opportunities, they will find them. Colgate also has excellent financial aid and alumni connections.

Also, the school has some of its flaws which are somewhat apparent, however there are many progressive and active people that are changing the academic atmosphere gradually but surely.

The campus and surrounding area is beautiful, although the village of Hamilton may be too quiet for some. The faculty and staff go out of their way to help students.
