    Campus Safety

They are really good about security at the school, I have never felt unsafe, even during night classes.

    Greek Life

There really is no greek life to speak of on campus, or at least nothing i have seen or heard of.

    Clubs and Activities

There are a few clubs on campus, but I have yet to find one that appeals to me. I am still looking though, so there may be some out there.

Great for these types of students

It is great for someone who wants to get general ed done at a community college or for someone who is just going for their Associate's degree. If you get your AA from CSN you are automatically accepted to UNLV

    Bang for the buck

This is a great school to get your general ed done before transferring to a university, or even if you are just getting your associates degree this place is great.

    What to do for fun

The school is in Las Vegas, so there are a multitude of options for fun, and everyone can find something they like to do.

    Food and Dining

The three campuses only offer a couple choices for food, but the food is not too bad for cafeteria food. There is a small cafe on every campus so you can get your coffee fix in the morning, and Russel's restaurant at the Cheyenne campus is very good.

    Dorm Life

There are no dorms at this school, it's a community college.

    Academic Rigor

This is only a two year college, so you only have basic general education, plus a few specified degrees like nursing or hospitality management.

    Tips for prospective students

It is easy to choose which instructor you get, so look them up first. Also get to class a little early, parking is horrible here. Try to take on campus classes instead of online, the instructors are more dependable.

    In three sentences

CSN has a good amount of classes, good teachers, and a pretty helpful counseling center. It is very easy to get into classes, no crashing required ever. As far as community colleges go, College of Southern Nevada is a good school.

Great for these types of students

anyone! anyone who wants to just get their general ed credits out of the way or for those who want to start their career soon. Classes are easy, professors are pretty good as well. I wouldn't suggest you complete your major here though. It's great to get all your lower classes first. Unless if you are pursuing your associates degree then it's the perfect college for you

    Tips for prospective students

There are countless amounts of classes here. Research each class before you take it to make sure it's what you would like to take. They have just about anything! Watch out when you sign up for classes and make sure you assign them all at the same campus because you wouldn't want to run around different campuses for all your classes. Parking takes forever since there's so many people and smaller lots so try to get to class earlier!

    Bang for the buck

Since it's a community college, class prices are cheap. It's a very great way to get ahead start on your general classes before you transfer to a university, or great for those who just want their associates. It's a very affordable price, especially if you have the millennium or grants (then you won't have to pay a dime to go here!)

    Am enjoying being here

It's alright. The age range varies greatly here, so don't expect just young teens/adults. There are so many different types of people here, not just your usual party goers. Campus is clean and great looking. They offer so many great classes here.

    Am learning a lot

Classes are small. Very interactive. Online classes are GREAT here. Not as hard as I thought they would be. To be honest, I'd rather do online classes than be at the campus because it gives you more free time and the distance learning is very easy

Great for these types of students

Anyone who would like to save some money on college and invest it somewhere else. It doesn't even matter if you have plenty of scholarships. In that case, you'll be able to spend it on other things like books. That is, ofcourse, if you can't. It's also great for studetns who are intimidated by large colleges and will be attending college for the first time.

    Tips for prospective students

Come with an open mind and be ready to work. It's still college, and you do have to work hard to get good grades. Ask for help if you need any! There are so many privileges and benefits that come with attending here! They have services for the disabilitated, working moms, and those who don't speak much English.

    Bang for the buck

Definately. This college is the best. Basic classes here are half the price than they would be somewhere else like UNLV.

    Am enjoying being here

Everyday is an adventure. I never know who I may end up meeting! A wealthy guy from India or maybe a nice friend who lives 10 minutes from the college who I wouldn;t have met if it weren't for this college.

    Am learning a lot

I have met so many different people from many different cultures. Because of its' low cost for basic courses, many people from other countries come here! It is so cool!

Great for these types of students

If you want to save a bunch of money on your gen ed. CSN is great. It's also a smooth transition from high school to college, because sometimes it feels just like high school as far as class levels and general student atmosphere/attitude.

    Tips for prospective students

Don't worry too much. Going to college at CSN is a breeze.

    Am enjoying being here

It's definitely hard to make friends at CSN. The general mentality is something like, get class over with and get back to my own life.

    Am learning a lot

I've had some really great professors, but I have yet to feel truly challenged.

Great for these types of students

Any student who is a full-time/part-time employee, parent, adult, re-turning student, transfer, in financial need, or any student who needs to take their basic classes. CSN is a great school to attend to if your anybody.

    Tips for prospective students

Apply early and research the classes you want to take. Make sure you know what class and teacher you want before you schedule your classes. CSN as well as any school gets busy when the deadline to applying is close so it's smart to register as soon as possible. The online registration is easy to use. I would also be aware of all the deadline dates for adding/dropping classes.

    Bang for the buck

The prices for the classes are reasonable like any community college. A lot cheaper than any university. CSN is affordable.

    Am enjoying being here

The campuses are small and very easy to get around. Everything is very easy to find and the staff are very helpful and friendly. There are campus officers always driving around through out the day/night to control the parking lot. The student population is very diverse. The teacher's are very good. The campuses are very easy to find. There are 3 locations in the Clark County area. They offer lots of programs to help students and great classes.

    Am learning a lot

The professor's differ among each other of course and have their own ways of teaching certain things but they are very good and well-educated. They are helpful and look to have each of their students succeed.

Great for these types of students

High school students since CSN has amazing high school programs! As well as those who have been out of work for a while but really CSN will work well for any student.

    Tips for prospective students

I suggest going on rateyourprofessor.com since most CSN teachers are rated as well as asking tips from students. Also, I suggest avoiding taking classes at the Cheyenne campus. Though most of the best facilities such as the athletic center and most school activities are based there, it's generally not a very safe area. I suggest the Charleston campus which is the campus where we have the most number of students taking classes.

    Bang for the buck

It's relatively on the pricier side in comparison to other community colleges in other states. One credit is about $65 yet if you are an out of state student taking up to six credits in a semester, you don't have to pay the very expensive out of state fee unlike other colleges which automatically charge you the lump out of state sum upon registering for classes.

    Am enjoying being here

I met some of my best friends for life at CSN! Not to mention the opportunities there are in the school. I was able to intern with Barack Obama's 2008 presidential campaign through the school as well as find my first ever job.

    Am learning a lot

The amount of learning you expect will depend upon the teachers you get. They have a lot of really amazing teachers but there are still a number of teachers that lack enthusiasm in their jobs and their students. Most teachers at CSN give relatively easy homework because of the different students mixed in a class who have capabilities and knowledge, yet you absolutely learn from them. Expect to be in a class with high school students as well as those who haven't been in school for while and I love this fact about the student diversity. You definitely develop better people skills by working with different nationalities and age groups.

    Campus Safety

There are campus security roaming around the school at all times. They are friendly but they get down to business when needed.

    Clubs and Activities

There are posters all around school that promote all kinds of activities. Indoor soccer, basketball to a guitarist for a band. The diversity can be seen through out the hallways on bulletin boards.

Great for these types of students

It is great for any type of student who wants a college education to enable them to further themselves.

Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus

There is a carpool group that has formed that allows people hitch rides with their friends or other people who live near them. It is an awesome way to meet new people and it also decreases the carbon foot print people could produce.

    Bang for the buck

The programs and assistance available range widely. From the Trio program to the counselors, advisors, and academic centers. These are all support centers that have everything you could possible need. Besides your teachers these centers can help you with the subject you are struggling with and they are there when ever you need them!

    What to do for fun

There are plenty of sport teams available at this college. If sports do not interest you then the theater and music should draw your attention. There are also plenty of events that go on around the campus as well with food and fun!

    Food and Dining

On campus there is an awesome restaurant that students work. The culinary program at the college is incredible and full of ambitious students that make delicious food!

    Dorm Life

I do not live in dorms so I cannot comment on the rating of the dorm life.

    Academic Rigor

Each class has a detailed outline that professors follow. They are there to help. teach, and explore their courses.

    Tips for prospective students

Students who are looking to attend the College of Southern Nevada should be aware that even though it is not a University it should still be treated as the equivalent to one! Colleges are just as prestigious as Universities. It is just what you make out of them!

    In three sentences

The College of Southern Nevada is a place for honest students who want to succeed. The teaching staff, along with the office staff, are there to assist you in any way needed. It has been a pleasant time attending this college and I would rate it a solid 9 out of 10.

This school is great for students on a budget but eventually plan to transfer out to a bigger school and finish their degree there.

Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus

This college is fairly traditional however its location isn't. Being located in Las Vegas, NV we have locations all around the city.

    Bang for the buck

This school definitely gives you the bang for your buck. It's very affordable and gives a great opportunity to further your education.

    What to do for fun

There are a few extra curricular activities that you can get involved in like theatre, music, etc. CSN also has one of the top Junior College Baseball teams in the country.

    Tips for prospective students

This is a good school to get your college career started. It's cheap but it's still holds value in the teachings.

    In three sentences

CSN is a well-run school. It always has all resources easily available to students and tuition is not over priced. I wish they had more sports programs but other than that it's a very good college.

Great for these types of students

I think this college would be great for any type of student. Like I mentioned before, they have a great variety of programs and an affordable tuition. Overall I think it's an great college as far as two-year colleges go.

    Tips for prospective students

If you have any question, don't be afraid to ask. In my experience there, they have been very helpful as far as questions and concerns go. Make sure you figure out what classes you wish to take and apply as early as you can. Also, you can get information about the class and the textbooks you need by asking the professor in person or through email. One thing that could be a downside, is I didn't find information about student housing when I was reviewing the college, but I'm sure if you talk to a counselor or academic advisor on campus they will be happy to help with any questions or concerns.

    Bang for the buck

In my opinion, this college definitely has bang for the buck. There are so many resources and programs available at a very reasonable tuition price. With the affordability of the school, I'm able to focus more on coursework than wondering how I'll pay of tuition fees.

    Am enjoying being here

At this point in time, I am taking all online classes through the College of Southern Nevada. I love it! Their online classes are simple to take, easy to navigate, organized, and give me the flexibility of time to do my schoolwork. I did attend the campus for my first couple semesters and I enjoyed the campus as well. The college actually has 3 campus throughout the Vegas area, and that makes it kind of convenient for people who don't want to travel across town for classes all the time.

    Am learning a lot

I began attending CSN in Fall 2008 and so far it has been a great school to attend too. Especially a far as community colleges go. I have learned so much with just the few classes I have taken to this point and I'm truly excited to continue on. Teaching methods to differ between teachers, so if you can, talk to the professor and fellow students about the class.

Great for these types of students

This college is great for students that just want to get an associates or are thinking about attending a large four year college. Students can get their basics done here for a lower cost and transfer directly into their major at a four year university.

    Tips for prospective students

College is not like high school at all. If you want to prepare for college, take high school college prep courses or AP classes to get the feeling of working on your own. Your teachers are just guides to help you but you have the responsibility to do everything on your own.

    Bang for the buck

The classes are cheaper here than four year colleges and you have the ability to make the most of your education experience. There are many kinds of classes available for any of your interests. I don't feel like I'm going broke trying to get an education.

    Am enjoying being here

The enviornment here is very laid back and everyone does their own thing. We have a lot of back to school events to get the students involved and intramural sports to feel part of the school. There are a lot of clubs and activities to keep the students involved and focused.

    Am learning a lot

The professors here are generally very helpful and can easily get in touch with. The online professors try to get back to their students as quickly as possible but they also have offices on campus if you need immediate help. I feel from the few semesters I have been here that I have gotten the most out of my courses.

    Tips for prospective students

Get Finley for Math if you can, he's great.

    Bang for the buck

I am in the high school program so everything is free for me.

    Am enjoying being here

The students have the mentality of get in, get out. They're not there to make friends. There are friendly people and you will have friends, but that's not the basis of why you're going to school.

    Am learning a lot

I am taking a Communications 101, Psychology 101, and Math 95 class and I'm learning a lot. My Com class is super easy, just speeches but it has a lot of helpful information. I got the short end of the stick when it comes to Psych professors; mine just rambles in lectures, you have to really listen to her and her tests are hard. My math class is amazing; I learned more from this teacher than I ever did in high school classes.

    Campus Safety

You always see a security guard somewhere. I feel very safe at this school.

    Clubs and Activities

The theatre professors are amazing here.

Great for these types of students

Anyone who is looking to go back to school, or is just starting with college. Great for transfer students as well.

    Bang for the buck

Much, much more affordable than UNLV. The professors are much more caring and better to work with here as well.

    What to do for fun

Make friends, go to lunch, study together! I'm not very familiar with the Vegas area by the Cheyenne campus, but I'm sure there's plenty to do. There are always plays, dance concerts, orchestra concerts, and other events happening here.

    Food and Dining

For being school food it's pretty good! I am a very busy student, and it's nice to be able to grab coffee and a bagel for breakfast before my classes start.

    Dorm Life

I don't think there are any dorms for CSN, but I do know they have apartments across from the Cheyenne campus.

    Tips for prospective students

This is a good school to get your Associate's and transfer. As a performing arts major, the professors are great! The registrar gets really hectic sometimes, but try to be patient. They do the best they can and try to guide you in the right direction. Just be careful with what side of town you're on. If you are any type of arts major, all of the classes are at the Charleston and Cheyenne campuses. If you live in Henderson, the campus there is a lot smaller, but most of the core courses are offered here as well.

    In three sentences

Your basic college, very affordable with great professors. Good for getting started, and I recommend using this as a starter college if you plan to transfer. Be patient with the registrar!

    In three sentences

it is simply a quick way for those who want to transfer to a university or for those who are still trying to find themselves. the social life is very quiet and serene and even though no one judges or says anything bad about you, the fact that there is really no one to talk to can be a little depressing. i even consider the professors at this college to be a lot more interactive with the students than the students are with one another.

    Academic Rigor

you just have to do what you came to do work. you have to put it your all in order for you to get those good grades. they don't give you 20 assignments for you to do it all. their are reasonable teachers if you need help they give you ways so you can be able to contact them if you need help, what great help than from the one who knows.

    What to do for fun

it's las vegas--there's plenty to do for fun. on campus there are clubs you can join, events that happen every so often. it's not all that much like normal university life, but keep in mind this place is considered a community college.

    Food and Dining

vast amounts of places to dine at the charleston and cheyenne campus. since the cheyenne campus has the culinary program, there is a restaurant there in which culinary students participate in making the food. it's pretty good! charleston has a lot more food vendors, though, from building b, d, i, h (at night), and k.

It is extremely safe. In the past few months that I've attended the college there hasn't been any police report sent to my email. You don't have to worry about being assaulted by a stranger since it's a small campus and you are surrounded by people often.

    Greek Life

There are no fraternities or sororities.

    Clubs and Activities

I'm not very familiar with clubs or activities. I do know that there are sports teams and recreational fields for tennis, baseball, and cheerleading.

Great for these types of students

It's great if you want to stay in the city and save a few hundred on tuition for two years.

Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus

Nothing really. It's a community college so your main focus is attaining your degree in two years.

    Bang for the buck

The college is pretty quaint. It's small and honestly, you go to school and don't have time to really hang out with anyone. The people that are in your classes are the ones who you'll mostly likely see every other day. Other than that...it's just business. You go to school and then you go home.

    What to do for fun

I usually just study with some friends in the library and there are frequent fairs that as students we are welcomed to attend. It is not mandatory, though.

    Food and Dining

I honestly have never tried the food there, except for the occasional Starbucks frappachino. And those are the best!

    Dorm Life

There are no dorms on campus.

    Academic Rigor

It depends on the classes you take and your professors. Generally, if you read the material and study; the class will be a piece of cake. If you do not; then you will fail. It's as simple as that. There will be classes that will challenge you to your fullest potential, while others will breeze by.

    Tips for prospective students

Questions are always welcomed. Especially, if you do not know what to do in the jumble of college applications, acceptance letters, financial aid, ect. Don't EVER be intimidated to ask because ignorance is not bliss when it comes to college. In all honesty, there are NO dump or stupid questions. Also, always make sure that ALL your paperwork has been processed at the time frame given by the college. If it hasn't, then call until it is done. There is nothing better than being persistent. It gets the job done.

    In three sentences

The College of Southern Nevada is a small college. It's major goal is to have a student gain their associate's degree in two years. When that is done, the student will be able to transfer to a university to further attain a higher education like getting their bachelors or master's degrees.

    What to do for fun

There are many fun and interesting classes you can take. You can do anything form dance to art classes. I even took an English lit class that was all about the Harry Potter series. School can be fun.

    Tips for prospective students

We have one on campus restaurant though I have not been, besides that from word of mouth I didn’t know it existed until a teacher asked where should we go out to eat at, still we choose an off campus restaurant. Guess it isn’t all that great.

    Dorm Life

Cannot comment here, Im not even sure they have dorms.

    Academic Rigor

I cannot say this for all, though the 6 teachers I’ve had already do challenge you. You have to have an open mind at any college but here the teachers do their best to push whatever educated ego you have out. For me that deserves 5 stars.

    Tips for prospective students

I wouldn’t count on being a part of anything here at this school, unless you’ve got friends that go here or go with you. This school is an institution which promises more separation than most. This school is the place to go to transfer over to UNLV which I guess if you’re looking to gain friends in that sense then you’ll be a t the right place.

    In three sentences

My first look at the college is, dull because it’s more of an institute rather than a social place. Its as if they have dumbed down everything down to the choice of paint, which has psychological effects to the carpet and landscape. Lastly is that I depend more on just going to class rather than going to school, which is sad because I should enjoy going to the school to learn from my teacher, not going just to wish I could leave as soon as my first class is over, heck I’ve four classes.

Also they have events every now and then where you can win prizes or career fairs that go on.

    Food and Dining

The restaurants that they have here are the American deli, which has everything from chicken fingers to vegetarian lasagna. Then there is a sub place where you can get subs and in the front of the school there is a small cafe where you can get coffee and doughnuts and smoothies.

    Dorm Life

    Tips for prospective students

And CSN offers so many different programs!

Go to class; you'll get better grades. Participate in class discussions. Register early if at all possible.

    In three sentences

CSN is filled with young people, though there are also a decent amount of older students. Most of the professors seem to genuinely enjoy teaching. CSN offers numerous services to assist students in achieving their goals, including complimentary tutoring.

    Still better than UNLV.

    Clubs and Activities

Go watch as many shows at the theatre as possible.

Great for these types of students

As an AA of Fine Arts, I really enjoyed the program, but also have to say that I really enjoyed my classes with the Psychology staff.

    Bang for the buck

Definitely the best college option for those freshman right out of high school in the Vegas area. Unless you have military plans or grants/scholarships for another school, go to CSN.

    What to do for fun

There are a decent handful of things to do around the campuses, especially if you have to travel between 2 or more. Just don't expect travel times to be a benefit to your schedule.

    Food and Dining

CSN offers a good selection of food, but if you hit the student shops at the wrong time, you're out of luck. Thankfully, there are plenty of food options close to all 3 campuses.

    Dorm Life

I know the college offers student housing/apartments, but I have not heard of their pros/cons. Shop around, the campuses are surrounded by housing options.

    Academic Rigor

Solid staff, only a few minor problems with teachers. Just keep an eye out for taking teachers that have been teaching higher level classes and are now switching down. The syllabi can be daunting if you're not careful.

    Tips for prospective students

The instructors and professors at CSN are much better than UNLV's. Don't make the same mistake I did and waste money for 2 years, when CSN is cheap and a great starter going into a more expensive 4 year college.

    In three sentences

I have definitely enjoyed my experience with CSN much more than at UNLV. Why not save some money and have better instructors? If you are coming right out of high school in the Vegas area, get right into CSN.

    Campus Safety

It depends on which campus you are on. Some the campuses have been known for crime in and near by.

    Clubs and Activities

There are plenty of clubs in the school. However, the school tends to steal money from the clubs. They have a new rule were no money can be raised by each club and they will give the money to all clubs if raised or not. This is bad for many of the bigger clubs that try and do scholarships.

    Bang for the buck

While price is pretty low compared to most schools it is a get what you pay for. Many of the teachers are only part time which means they have time for the students besides in the class room. You will not learn anything from the classes. If you are expecting to get Finical Aid have a clear warning. New rules set up so that students must pay before any finical aid has come to them, so everything comes out of pocket first. If any extra money comes through the school, don't expect it on the time they say. It's always late.

    What to do for fun

Do not expect to make many friends or have people carry over from other classes. Because of the wide range in ages and amount of people in the school there isn't a lot to do when it comes to things on campus.

    Food and Dining

A few of the buildings have food located on the campuses, but most of the time it's easier (and better) to go to the nearby restaurants. Most of the foods are all the same in each building which can get old.

    Dorm Life

    There is no dorm life.

    Academic Rigor

Your basic classes are easy to pass. There isn't much challenge in any of the classes offered. If you are to take Math classes though don't even bother to do them without tutors. The teachers are unwilling to help or even explain. Most of the time you will sit in a general ed. class with a teacher saying You should of learned this before.

    In three sentences

This is not a school to go to unless you really have to. Most teachers are part time and will not be willing to help. The finical aid department is a joke.

    Bang for the buck

Tuition has increased, but I still feel as though I am getting a great education. It's still not as expensive as UNLV, so I'm good.

    What to do for fun

Swimming, movies, talking to friends, traveling when I can

    Food and Dining

There's places to get food in most of the buildings. On the Charleston Campus, there are a bunch of places on that whole street too.

    Dorm Life

I can't really put a rating on this because I live at home. But we do have quite a few apartment complexes around the campuses

    Academic Rigor

I've had classes that are extremely hard, that I absolutely could not pass, and classes that are extremely easy, that I just breeze right through. I also get the ones that are perfect, right inbetween too. But the hard ones are the Biology classes, the Physics classes - science classes.

    Tips for prospective students

Save your money, tuition has increased, and no doubt will increase again. That really goes for all schools. This IS NOT high school. You do have homework, you do have to actually study and write papers. Most teachers only care that you show up, do the work, and do your best. If they are a decent teacher, and they can tell you are putting forth a sincere effort, then they can tell.

    In three sentences

I love being able to choose my classes on the campus that is closest to me. Most of the teachers at CSN are alright, there are of course some bad/horrible ones. I prefer it most of all because I still get a great education and the tuition is much less than a university, such as UNLV.

classes are often half the price of those at universities

    What to do for fun

The Cheyenne campus has a great theater program, softball team, and plenty of dance fitness classes. There are also drives and programs you can sign up for to help the community and meet new people. Check the boards too, there are often flyer's for parties and events.

The food is pretty good and reasonably priced.

    Clubs and Activities

Every time that I walked out the door I passed a new poster for a Psychology/Math/English/Theatre club or a Broadway/musical/comedy show.

Great for these types of students

This college is great for students who don't have a lot of money or are just starting a new job. This college is also great for older student that are returning to earn their degree after a couple of years of a break (marriage, honeymoon, children, career change, family crisis, vacation etc).

Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus

Again I can't tell you how beautiful the Charleston Campus bell sounds, I just love it!!

    Bang for the buck

I am extremely happy that I have received my Associates from CSN!

    What to do for fun

My favorite thing to do was to sit outside (oct-dec) and eat in the Charleston Campus courtyard underneath the purple flower trees and listen to the clock bell ring. Or to go to the public library just next door and spend my hour waiting for my ride reading books or watching movies. There are outside fields for sport practice and indoor theaters for dance practice or shows.

    Food and Dining

Well I have to say that every time I passed the cafe in Henderson campus building C I almost fainted of hunger, no matter what day it was there was always something good to smell or eat. Every single day that I had school at the Charleston campus I would buy some snacks from the bookstore, they have top ramen and chips (my favorite), plenty of beverages, nuts, granola bars, etc. it was heaven and extremely cheap!

    Dorm Life

Thankfully my parents live just two miles from CSN so I was able to live at home at a reduced rental price and still be able to pay my school fees. I have many friends who live in apartments not far from school that were not expensive.

    Academic Rigor

This College offers Certificates, Associate Degrees, and Bachelor's degrees. If you are serious at furthering your education at an inexpensive fee then this is the place for you.

    Tips for prospective students

Apply for scholarships and actively search for a good part-time job so that you can pay you're tuition and earn a degree as soon as possible. A college is a place for students who want to further their education, learn interesting facts, or experience new hobbies, so make sure you apply to the college that you would like to attend, with the classes that you would like to take. Don't ever give up, no matter how hard the tests or hw may seem do you're absolute best and if necessary hire a tutor or retake the class later for a better grade, but don't ever give up you can definitely accomplish what you put your efforts into.

    In three sentences

This school is full of diverse cultures and students, you make many new friends and all three campuses are different and exciting; my favorite was the Charleston Campus with the big bell clock! It is easy to apply to this school and you're chances of getting in are high, especially if you want to work hard for a degree. The teachers are wonderful and the classes are exciting, so many different choices; you also have the ability to do your classes online which I thought was a genius idea, more time at home for hw after work.

Believe in yourself and never stop pushing, quitters never win and winners never quit. Anyone of us can do anything we set out to. We all have the capability but few reach their full potential. Don't be wasted talent. Carpe Diem.

There are school police officers constantly roaming the campuses, and if you are a female, at night they will walk you to your car.

    Greek Life

I don't believe CSN has any greek life. With how apparent greek life is at most universities, I would guess that if I am unsure if we have greek life...we probably don't.

    Clubs and Activities

There are poetry events, film viewings, and as for clubs...it's an alright school for clubs. Not the best, not the worst.

Great for these types of students

Students who aren't sure if they want to be in college, undecided major, want to save money, and or plan on transferring. Degree wise, the school has a great dental program and nursing program. It also offers some degrees that UNLV does not have.

Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus

Can't say there are any traditions, as CSN is not a tight knight school like most universities. Attend CSN and make a tradition for us!

    Bang for the buck

Find the cheapest textbooks (RENT THEM), read about your professors before signing up for their class, and don't bother to buy a student I.D.

    What to do for fun

If you don't happen to join a club, there isn't much to do. You can go to the library or hangout with friends at a table. Other than that, the school does not offer many activities.

    Food and Dining

CSN is broken up into buildings so for the most part, you will find vending machines and tiny stores where you can purchase the same food you'd find in a vending machine. I know. We have a Mexican Food Restaurant, but since the campus is across the street from a few real fast food places, I'd just hop over there instead.

    Dorm Life

CSN is not a school that currently offers a dorm. How's living at home? There, you just answered your own question.

    Academic Rigor

If you attended a high school where you found yourself challenged constantly, this school will be a breeze. Academics are as challenging as you make them; if you work hard, it's easy. Grades also depend on the teacher, but success depends on you.

    Tips for prospective students

Try to arrange your schedule in the best way possible; so many new students decide to enroll in a class at 10:00 am and not have another class until noon, the time in between is wasted (unless you do your homework from your first class). Also, there are more than one CSN campus so pay close attention when signing up for classes (you don't want the stress of driving back and forth, campus to campus.) Also, always make extra copies of documents when going to meet with an advisor (they have a habit of losing papers).

    In three sentences

If you find yourself unsure of what to major in, or what to do with your life, CSN is a great school to attend. It's inexpensive, a small campus, and offers many degrees and classes. If you'd like to later transfer to UNLV, there is always that option, but for nursing and dental students in Las Vegas; this is the school for YOU!

There are a bunch of clubs on campus. Student government is always planning social events for the student, such as mixers, poetry slams, and open mic nights. Along with inter-mural sports.

    Food and Dining

The food on campus is not very good.

    Dorm Life

Community college, there are no dorms.

    Academic Rigor

I don't believe it is too difficult to achieve good grades as long as you make time for home work and studying.

    Tips for prospective students

I would suggest researching the colleges website before hand. Students don't realize how important it is to do their own research about a school. Everything that a student would need to know is on the website! I would also suggest if you plan on attending the college to start everything such as registering, applying for financial aid and taking placement test as early as possible.

    In three sentences

    Dorm Life

Well The College of Southern Nevada does not offer dorm room so I cannot give an accurate rating on this matter.

    Academic Rigor

Like I said it could use more teachers and more of a variety of classes. Other than that it is a great college.

    Tips for prospective students

    In three sentences

The College of Southern Nevada is a great college to attend because of the fact that the tuition is lower than any other University or college in Nevada. Sorry, this is a 2-year commuter school. Most everyone here is all business. Get in, get out, get your degree.

    Bang for the buck

At 90 dollars a credit and full transferability to other Nevada schools, this place is a steal.

    What to do for fun

CSN has one of the best baseball teams in the country with a beautiful baseball diamond on the Henderson campus. The girls softball team is also great and plays there frequently. There are a number of intramural sport leagues and clubs to help you meet people.

    Food and Dining

CSN does not have a dining hall. Each campus has a privately run snack bar which is ok but overpriced.

    Dorm Life

CSN does not have dorms, however, housing is relatively inexpensive in Las Vegas.

    Academic Rigor

CSN is just as tough as UNLV. I take classes at both. Their online classes do seem a little easy but like everything in life, you get out what you put in.

    Tips for prospective students

Apply early and register as quickly as you can. Core classes fill up fast and professors do not like to add students on the first day. Be flexible with the campuses, you may have to drive a bit to get to class.

    In three sentences

The campus is nice and classes are much smaller than UNLV. The smaller classes make for great interaction with professors without a TA acting as gatekeeper. The cost is miniscule for the level of service you receive.

College of Southern Nevada does offer a good amount of clubs. For instance, they have a student government and a Gay-Straight Alliance.

Great for these types of students

College of Southern Nevada is great for students who have a cramped schedule and other responsibilities. The instructors live in the real world and are understanding of most situations.

To my knowledge, the college doesn't offer any of these.

    Bang for the buck

College of Southern Nevada is at least half the price of other universities.

    What to do for fun

The college does offer a few get togethers organized by some of the other students. But, you are there for an education not a social life.

    Food and Dining

Unfortunately, there is only one cafe and its options are quick dismal.

    Dorm Life

    Tips for prospective students

I would highly recommend registering for classes as soon as they allow you because they do tend to fill up fast.

    In three sentences

College of Southern Nevada is a great place for students to start their higher education. They offer flexible schedules, there are three different campuses to choose from, and it's less expensive then other universities. I am pround to be a College of Southern Nevada student.

Great for these types of students

I know a lot of different types of students at CSN. The hard workers who can push themselves to do anything, right down to the students who need that extra push from their instructors when it comes to learning things. CSN is definitely a place where any type of student can fit in and do well.

    Bang for the buck

CSN has been great to me so far. I haven't had even one class that I have felt wasn't worth the amount of money that was paid for it.

    What to do for fun

There are a lot of clubs that you can join, as well as taking a few 'filler' kinds of courses outside of your major to make friends or to just have fun with it!

    Food and Dining

There are great little food places at each of the individual campuses. The people who work there are really nice and they tend to take customer service to the next level.

    Tips for prospective students

Make sure you know where everything is, whether you attend in person or online. That way, if you ever need anything, you know where the library is both on campus and through the CSN website.

    In three sentences

CSN is a great college to go to without having to break the bank. There are some issues I have had with individual teachers, but I feel that those issues could easily be encountered at any university. I have chosen to remain at CSN because I like the diversity of both the student body as well as the classes offered.

The classes are a lot cheaper than you would expect from other schools. They are also very lenient on book requirements. My suggestion would be to wait until your first class to see if you even need a book.

    What to do for fun

There are many days throughout the year where CSN's students will have different activities going on throughout the campus whether it's for fun or for awareness. The students love when others get involved.

    Food and Dining

Snack bars are offered around campus, but for a full meal you will have to go off campus. Thankfully most of the main campuses have restaurants fairly close to the campus.

    Dorm Life

On-campuses housing isn't offered at CSN, but most campuses are surrounded by multiple apartment complexes.

    Academic Rigor

This is a two-year based school. So only an associates degree can be made here, excluding a few majors. However, they can provide you with what you need in order to go on to pursue any further education you are interested in.

    Tips for prospective students

If you are unfamiliar with the campus, try and attend class a little early so that you have time to familiarize yourself with everything. Thankfully, most general core classes are separated by buildings. With art classes being located in the same general area, science, math, etc.

I have been able to get a general idea of college and I've been helped with planning out my future from various amazing teachers and staff. You will not need your transcripts. This will help you to learn everything all over again and for you do better the second time around. Call it a brand new start. 3. Be careful as to how many time that you file for Financial Aid. If you file for financial aid six times in the past that can come back and hunt you because that means that you have max out for financial and then you will be in trouble. You have take loans each academic school year (fall and spring semesters each calendar school year). 4. Check with FAFSA and get a print out as to how many time you have filed for financial aid. 5. Find out who your lender is and start making arrangement to pay back whatever you owe. This will help you also. If you have a part-time job, call your lender and arrangement for payment plan to pay off your financial aid. Make you keep a record of your payment. I strongly suggest that you scan your money order or check in to your computer in case you lose the original. Make an envelop out and put the money order receipts in them and put them in a safe place. 6. Form a study group on subjects that you know that you will need help in. Take advantage of the services that are available for you that will help you in your studies and make your experience more pleasant and enjoyable.

    Academic Rigor

The teachers are well educated and know what they are doing. They challenge you to think critically, instead of just allowing you to sit there like a potato.

    Tips for prospective students

Make sure never to procrastinate, not in assignments, studying, choosing classes, nor in applying for grants, scholarships, or FASFA.

    In three sentences

CSN has made completing my Associate of Arts almost stress free, because of its affordable classes and helpful teachers. The teachers here are almost all well known and loved. Although there may be a class or instructor that is not all it was expected to be, in general, they are all worth the money.

CSN offers different dining from cafes to sub shops. They are very nice and clean. They fairly price the food too.

    Dorm Life

There isn't much of dorm life but they have apartments off campus for your convenience.

    Academic Rigor

The overall academic rigor is not as high as it should be. The professors don't go out of their way like they say they do to make sure you have hands on experience. They don't care if you are falling behind, so study a ton and get outside help.

    Tips for prospective students

    Bang for the buck

The personalized attention you receive in class, low cost of classes, and the effort you're willing to put forth really determine how well your money is spent. If you read the book, take notes, and ask well thought-out questions to people who know the subject - like your teacher or the tutors on campus - you will definitely get your money's worth.

    What to do for fun

The library at cheyenne campus is abundant in choices of liturature, fiction, or even children's books. The public library next to Charleston campus is another option if you're on that side of town for class, in addition to the school library.

    Food and Dining

I've been to both the Charleston and Cheyenne campuses of CSN, and both have nice dining areas and student stores which sell food, candy, drinks, and supplies. Both campuses also have hot food available, whether its the taco shop, student restaurant, or the fast food chains across the street.

    Dorm Life

CSN doesn't have a dorm from what I know of it.

    Academic Rigor

Some classes are very easy, and some are more difficult. Overall, the class is usually what you make of it. If you come prepared and do the work, you'll actually learn new and interesting things. Each day I spend attending classes and reading the texts for class, I go home having learned something I didn't know the day before.

    Tips for prospective students

    1) Start the registering and financial aid process as early as possible, don't forget to fill out the FAFSA! 2) Do the work - read, study, ask questions inside and outside of class. 3) Use the resources, tutoring, computer lab, writing center, smarthinking, they're free and they're there for your use! 4) Don't be afraid to sit with people you don't know and meet them... especially if you're learning a new language. 5) Instead of procrastinating, do a little of the work at a time and come back to it.

    In three sentences

CSN is helpful in shaping individuals through a well-rounded education. If you're there to pass time, that's what you'll do; however, if you go there to learn, and actually do the work, you may just come out wiser than you went in.

Everyone is supportive no matter who it is. Teachers, staff, and fellow peers usually have great attitudes.

    What to do for fun

Most of the students involve themselves in school activities like photography and reading clubs. There are specific events held for the students that do attend college there sort of like a HS prom. Few parties are held at the school but more on the outside of it!

    Food and Dining

I would have to say that the food is decent. There is nothing special about the food. The food you have to pay for though is awesomely good.

    Dorm Life

There aren't any dorms that the community college offers. More than half of the people who attend sill live with a parent. There are places that do offer dorm stays for college.

    Academic Rigor

I have seen many people become successful after being in this school. There are so many different things that this community college offers through its programs. They also have many different transferable degrees.

There are always security guards patrolling around the campus and I always feel very safe there, even at night. No one ever gets too rowdy because we're all just there to get educated. I've never heard any of the night students complain about anything happening on campus after dark.

    Greek Life

There are actually a few sororities and maybe fraternities at CSN! This is also unusual for community colleges. I don't know too much about them since I'm not really into that sort of thing.

    Clubs and Activities

Last semester I was in the S.M.A.D. club (Students Making A Difference) and we did lots of fun volunteer activities. There is even a dance club on the Cheyenne Campus and that is where the cheerleaders practice. CSN also has most sports that the bigger colleges do, which is unusual for Community Campuses.

Great for these types of students

CSN is awesome for anyone! I am a 19 year old working student and I have met working single mothers, retired veterans and international students all on one campus! And having more than one location is great because you can take classes all over the city to fit in with your schedule or at one campus only if you want to stay there all day!

Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus

One place that most students mingle is actually in the student affairs building! CSN has a very nice and convenient study center right in the middle of the building. You get tables to do schoolwork on right next to one of the cafe's but you don't have to act like you're in the library. It's awesome to just go there and chill.

    Bang for the buck

CSN is very cheap per credit and they do not charge out of state fees during the summer (maybe all schools do this). It's a very good school for it's price and you really get that college feel. Watch out if you are out-of-state though; until you qualify for in-state tuition you will get stuck with a $3000 fee if you take more than 9 credits!

    What to do for fun

There are always events going on at the West Charleston campus, put on by various clubs and volunteers. Once we even had a karate school come and demonstrate! There are football games too, and once there was a karaoke contest with a $100 dinner as a prize!

    Food and Dining

I went to one of the cafe's inside of the West Charleston campus only once but the sushi I had there was great! There are lots of places around the campuses to get food as well. The Henderson campus has a really nice cafe as well.

    Dorm Life

I live in my own apartment. CSN does not have dorms since it is a community college but there are lots of apartment complexes around each campus and plenty of people looking for roommates. A lot of the students even stay with their parents.

    Academic Rigor

I have never felt overwhelmed with my schoolwork here and don't have too much difficulty balancing my classes and my job. That's not to say you can just kick back in class, the professors do make you work for your grades! Just pay attention and take notes, you will be fine.

    Tips for prospective students

Get started on all of your paperwork early, especially your financial aid. You don't want to be in the middle of the semester and suddenly have a lot of charges that you must pay at once! Get started on all of your paperwork at least 2 months before the semester begins because the offices take a while processing everything.

    In three sentences

The West Charleston campus is beautiful! The Professors are all top-knotch; lots of them have taught at other schools and all have valuable real world experience. There are lots of clubs to join and activities for students; there's even a cheerleading squad!

    Clubs and Activities

CSN offers around 40 clubs of all different types. People are bound to found something they would like.

Great for these types of students

The school is great if you are trying to save money and earn an associates degree before entering a 4 year college. It's also great if you did not do so well in high school. It gives those people a chance to accomplish what they feel they did poorly on in high school.

    Bang for the buck

Four 12 credit semester at CSN is estimated to equal one 12 credit semester and UNLV (with in-state tuition).

    What to do for fun

College of Southern Nevada offers several clubs. Students can also join Student Council. Joining programs that gives you the chance to meet other students is also fun.

    Academic Rigor

The teachers do really make you work for your grade. I have not had a teacher yet that is easy. Teachers really want all students to think critically and to understand that subject you are studying for.

    In three sentences

This college is a good starter college! It prepares you for a university and really makes you aware of the challenge college can bring. I like this college also because it is affordable and not a big campus.

Depends on which campus you're at, haha.

    ....this is America.

    Clubs and Activities

I know we have a lot, just don't know them all yet!

Great for these types of students

Need a flexible schedule. We have early morning classes and late night classes. It's all about preference.

    ...still too new to know.

    Bang for the buck

College is expensive no matter what, but CSN is practically one third the price of UNLV.

REGISTER FOR CLASSES THE FIRST DAY POSSIBLE. It's so hard to get the classes you want.

    In three sentences

So far, my experience had been good, there's just been a few complications with registering for classes. All is easily sorted out though. Some workers at the campus seem misinformed, but the real deal is the teachers which seem swell so far.

    Campus Safety

There are campus police and security cameras set up around campus. It is pretty calm there, and definitely safe.

    Bang for the buck

CSN is a pretty affordable school for Nevada residents. The classes cost way less than UNLV, and the student bookstore usually has good prices for textbooks.

    What to do for fun

There are clubs, and there are some concerts to attend.

    Food and Dining

Snacks are sold on campus, and there are vending machines in the different buildings. There is a small cafe area on the Charleston campus that sells coffee, tea, and sandwiches. I have not attended classes at the other campus locations, so I do not know what they offer.

    Dorm Life

    CSN does not have dorms.

    Academic Rigor

This really depends on the classes that you take and the teachers. Different teachers have different ways of running their classrooms. Be sure to look them up on RateMyProfessors.com when signing up for classes. That website has never steered me wrong.

    Tips for prospective students

Do not wait too long to sign up for classes, and try to rent your textbooks or buy them used.

    In three sentences

The College of Southern Nevada is a quiet, simple school. From what I've noticed, many of the students there are either fresh out of high school or are adults returning to school. It has great study spaces and lab facilities where any student can get help with their classes and assignments.

Metro is on campus, and they are great. If you call them, they are right there. They patrol a lot also. If you have night classes (some classes go past midnight) they are very visible and will walk you to your car. Be sure and get their phone number before you start classes so you can call if you need them. Car theft unfortunately is pretty high on all three campus.

    Greek Life

Non-Existent .. as far as I know. I could be wrong. Go to the website to see if there is any Greeks on campus.

    Clubs and Activities

Don't belong to any nor do I hear a lot of info on them....I know student government is very helpful and they seem involved. As far as any others, call the college or look at the CSN website.

Great for these types of students

If you are looking into the medical field, this is a great place. the Health and Information Technology Dept is awesome!!!!! They help you with every aspect. Just be sure to stay in constant contact with the dept. of your major. Stay informed all the time. CSN is known for pulling the rug from out beneath you if you are not educated in the policies, you could find yourself out in the cold.

Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus

No unusual traditions I know of on campus. This college does offer a B.S. degree in Dentistry, I believe they are gearing more toward university level rather than community college. A lot is changing with the college, from remodeling to offering more B.S. degrees. There is a wide variety of majors to choose from. counselors are great too, they love what they do, you can tell!

    Bang for the buck

My only other warning to you is about the summer months here in our fair desert. It starts around June and doesn't end until sometimes late October. The lows at night during these months are on average 80 to 85 degrees, so that means in the daytime expect temps to be around 105 and 115. If you survive the first summer, your a champ, the second summer you sweat through, you are acclimated. Meaning, if temps fall below say, 75 degrees, like in the spring or early winter, you will be freezing and wearing your hoodie. After the 3rd summer you are a professional.

    What to do for fun

Hey I live in Las Vegas, what can I say......there is ALWAYS something to do! The strip is about 20 minutes away from the CHY and CHRL campus. But again, that's not the only place to have fun! Las Vegas is like any other city in the US. Beware of the months between June and October ..... the is the desert. Temps range from 90 to 120 degrees. Some weeks are above 105 daily. The evenings are fantastic though!

    Food and Dining

Food and snack are not that great I have to say. You need to go off campus to find some great restaurants....try Roberto's for awesome Mexican! The food on the CHY campus is pretty good, there are a lot of BBQ in front of the school every semester too! Right now there are only 3 restaurants on campus at the CHY campus. They are mediocre.

    Dorm Life

No dorms. Apartments next to the campus' are available. Look online. The ones right next to the college at Cheyenne are borderline acceptable. Look a little further for better neighborhoods. Bus system here is awful. I would highly recommend renting a house and getting 2 or 3 other students to live there with you. It really is cheaper this way. Rent is very cheap here. You can find a 3 bedroom house with a pool for under 900$.

    Academic Rigor

Classes are fairly easy to get, just do it early. The retention Dept can be your best friend. There is a tutoring department and a dept. that helps with writing term/research papers. All very helpful! Always get to know your instructors, rate my professor.com is useful, very useful. Check the instructors out before you take classes, this website is your best friend before you can get on campus and start meeting other students.

    Tips for prospective students

Check out the Re-Entry Dept, they can assist you with tuition, rental of textbooks, and a host of other money saving programs! For some majors, there are bus passes and gas cards. Rental textbooks free of charge and vouchers are available too. Check into work study. This is basically loan money you work off during the semester. I did my work study in the re-entry dept.....had I not worked there, I wouldn't know about half the programs that are out there to help students.

    In three sentences

I give my college a B- grade. The financial Aid Department is a bit confusing, so find ONE person and just deal with them as far as questions. The campus is nice, 3 to choose from and the instructors I've dealt with are GREAT! Online classes are numerous and offered often. I've gone 3 semesters with just online classes. Saves gas.

    Campus Safety

I have taken classes at the Cheyenne campus and have always felt safe there.

    Greek Life

I have not looked into this because as a military member my schedule was full.

    Clubs and Activities

I have not personally joined any clubs but I have seen jazz performances done by CSN students at a jazz club called The E-String. I was very impressed.

Great for these types of students

CSN is great for students that work both full and part time or not at all. I have attended classes with students of all ages and backgrounds. As far as I could see, no one has felt out of place.

Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus

Unfortunately I havent noticed anything because a full day of classes and work is plenty for me to take in.

    Bang for the buck

CSN is great because you can get an AA degree with out to much, if any out of pocket expense. You can also take classes at community college prices that will transfer to a 4 year institution. This is nice because you can knock out classes like General Education and save your money for degree specific classes at what ever four year college or university you would like to attend.

    What to do for fun

Besides being located in Las Vegas, where there is always something to do, CSN offers campus clubs and sports. Every student is likely to find something extracurricular that they are interested in.

    Food and Dining

CSN has a campus dining area with a quality selection. Also there are numerous off campus eating establishments to enjoy. This is Vegas, remember?

    Dorm Life

I have not had any experience with CSN dorms. I am not sure if there are any.

    Academic Rigor

I give this a five start rating because even though the course work is challenging, the classes are set up so that as long as you plan responsibly there is plenty of time to complete the work.

    Tips for prospective students

I would suggest to any prospective students to take advantage of CSN's flexability. There are classes available at several campus locations as well as online. If you are active duty please get with your supervisor and discuss the your desire to continue your education. Most supervisors welcome the idea of members going to school. Take a schedule of available CSN classes to your supervisor and as long as manning requirements allow the flexibility an arrangement can be made that will allow you to go to school and fulfill your service commitment. If you are a civilian, you can take advantage of the same classes. There are classes available all day. If you work full time and are unable to take time off during the week, take online classes. Don't put off your education!

    In three sentences

As an active duty military member looking for a way to continue my education; CSN gave me an avenue that wouldnt not interfere with my duty commitment. Their office, located on base, made enrollment very simple and it was very convenient to take classes that were also located on base. Further more, the proceess of paying for classes is very efficient since the Air Force tuition assistance office is right down the hall from CSN's Nellis AFB office.

    Clubs and Activities

Lots of activities from sports to music.

    What to do for fun

I hang out with friends in the hallways or the cafeteria. Also, when its not so hot in Vegas we go outside and enjoy the veiw and just sit outside.

    Food and Dining

Not much at Cheyenne Campus you would have to drive to a fast food place but the West Charleston Campus has a variety of food places walking distance so that a plus.

    Tips for prospective students

Just know that campus members help you on the first week to find your classes they are going to be there for you to help you as much as possible. Make sure to bring a sweater some classes can get pretty cold.

    In three sentences

Very glad I picked this college. It's clean and all three campuses are different one is loud, one is very quiet but they are all really nice also, professors are really nice and help you as much as possible and I have enjoyed it for the passed year. Wouldn't trade it for another college I'm satisfied.

Great for these types of students

undecided students or students looking to take a few classes or students looking to boost gpa.

    Bang for the buck

Classes are fantastically affordable and financial aid is great but you have to pay up front and get reimbursed later. Worst part of any college is the books, save the important ones and buy used ones whenever possible!!!

    What to do for fun

School plus fun equals a conundrum!

    Food and Dining

food in and around the school is good and will get you through your day without starving.

    Dorm Life

As far as I know they have no dorms but I am sure an apartment near any of the campuses would be fantastic.

    Academic Rigor

Classes can be as challenging as you make them. If you took all advanced classes in highschool then you will have no problem getting A's.

    Tips for prospective students

Make sure you have a plan and don't just take random untrasferable classes. It will be easier on your wallet if you have a general long term plan.

    In three sentences

Very usefull college for just about anything from saving money to transfer later or getting ahead in a few classes over the summer. Some courses are only offered on certain campuses which does make it a bit stressful on car mileage and gas money. All in all a good resource to take advantage of with great teachers and staff.

    Campus Safety

Along with campus police there are also security guards at all times and they are nice people.

    Greek Life

I mostly keep to myself and with such a large campus you find more people sitting alone rather than in groups, at least this is what I have noticed.

    Clubs and Activities

The school could stand for a little more variety when it comes to it's clubs. I don't know of many but there is maybe one I would join.

Great for these types of students

This is a good school for people trying to work and get your degree because the homework level is reasonable so working and going to school is easy.

Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus

I don't know about traditions on campus but in the B building there is a sitting place under the stairs next to a large window I lie to sit at when waiting for my ride home.

    Bang for the buck

The classes are very reasonable and they have payment plans for 2 classes or more.

    What to do for fun

They have all kinds of clubs like the gaming club which meets every wed. in the B building where they play video games and card games etc.

    Food and Dining

They do have little shops in different buildings, some healthy some not so that the students can pick and choose but there is always easy access to the shops across the street.

    Dorm Life

    This school doesn't have dorms.

    Academic Rigor

It depends on the teacher. Most of the teachers I've had so far are good but I've come across some lazy teacher like in my hybrid math class. We didn't even have to show up to the class cause everything was online and the online videos weren't helpful. There were times I had to look stuff up on youtube. My women's studies teacher was way to fast a talker and a lot of what she mention didn't seem relevant to the course but most the teachers are pretty good.

    Tips for prospective students

When dealing with the financial aide department, don't take what they say too seriously and make sure when talking to them that they give ALL the information you require because they have a nasty habit of forgetting things.

    In three sentences

Overall it isn't a bad school but it has things it needs to work on like in their financial aide department they make way too many mistakes. The teachers are nice, most of the time, and they don't overload you with so much you fear to take a full load of classes. The best part is how affordable the school is.

    Campus Safety

Campus safety is highly important at the College of Southern Nevada. Surrounding the campus grounds are security poles. There is a button and speaker located on every pole. This is a great way to receive assistance for night classes and many other dangerous instances that may take place.

    Clubs and Activities

Even though this is a community college there are plenty of clubs offered. These clubs are very diverse and are a great way to get involved within the school.

    What to do for fun

For fun I would encourage getting involved on the campus's. Just because it is a community college does not mean there are not fun activities and events offered on campus. There are opportunities to work on campus which seems like it could be entertaining. There are also festivals towards the beginning of the school year.

    Food and Dining

There are not many food and dining areas, mainly vending machines and a small snack bar, which consists of your common junk food and beverages.

    Dorm Life

There are not dorms at CSN due to it being an community college.

    Academic Rigor

College of Southern Nevada is an academically productive school. The teachers take the time out to explain everything in their syllabus's and other uploaded documents concerning common issues or questions about the course. There are also multiple free tutoring sessions provided both online and on each of the three campus's.

    Tips for prospective students

I would encourage prospective students who plan on seeking a career anywhere in the health category attend not only your selected major/minor orientation, but also the overall orientation. I say this because at the Health orientation there is an opportunity to learn more about your major and also the prerequisite courses before attending classes dealing with your minor/major of choice.

    In three sentences

As a newcomer to Nevada, I believe College of Southern Nevada has allowed me to make a smooth transition. Although my classes are online at the moment, the courses have been very informative and helpful. I feel very prepared for my future career and that's all to the services provided by CSN!

    Greek Life

There are no sororities on campus, sadly.

    Clubs and Activities

There are no extra curricular activities.

Great for these types of students

    Bang for the buck

The school is a great bargain for the money! Well worth the education you receive and the credits you can obtain there.

    What to do for fun

There isn't really much involvement with anything else except for curriculum.

    Food and Dining

The food is average, and there are not that many options. However, considering the price, fine dining should not be expected. There are few food facilities on campus.

    Dorm Life

Sadly, there are no dorms. If you go here, expect to commute. However, there are three locations in the valley to ease the pain of commuting.

    Academic Rigor

Great academic value for the price!! The average rate of tuition is amazingly cheap. There are also a wide variety of programs to choose from!

    Tips for prospective students

Make sure you pay your fees for registration. Get to class on time and prepare to commute. Also, make sure to register early.

    In three sentences

    Clubs and Activities

Clubs and Activities are the moment somebody can do what is best for them, or do what they most like. For example, Math club where you do math all the time and solve puzzles. Or astronomy club where you watch the stars at night you learn. Then there is others like music, dance, German, Spanish and others. These are ways to create good communities and fellowship with others.

    What to do for fun

For fun there is quite a big amount of things somebody can do. Somebody can join the different clubs the college offers, or maybe go to the gymnasium and work out. The Piano laboratory is also available where people can enjoy playing the piano.

    Food and Dining

Food and dinning in College of Southern Nevada could be a little more healthy and nutrition based. Csn has fast food like burgers and chicken strips or maybe tacos on the other stand.

    Dorm Life

I live at home with my parents in Las Vegas, I do not know about the dorm life. I can tell what I know from my friends which is that college helps students in very well known ways in their financial situations.

    Academic Rigor

Well, my personal academic rigor is between the top and the low, but I am pressing towards the goal because I believe I can reach towards my dreams. People and students I know are very into school, but then there are others that think that everything will just happen magically, and it does not. I would say there is a 50% of Low rigor and 50%of high Rigor.

    Tips for prospective students

If you really belief in what you are doing then go for it but think realistic and get yourself out there. Reach out to people and let other people reach out to you so you can help each other and succeed together as one. Try to receive huge amounts of information about tutors and help if anytime needed, go ALL IN.

    In three sentences

College of Southern Nevada (CSN) is a not that big of a campus where the classes are small and the teachers want to support you. Also, it has many good people and many tutor services to receive some help when needed, for example English, math and science. Pay attention to the type of professor your teacher is too. It'll tell you how to succeed in the class. Your paper may be good, but if your teacher doesn't like redundancy and you are a redundant writer, it'll be a fail for the teacher. Also, don't be afraid to ask questions! Smartthinking tutoring is your best friend for reviewing essays but ask your professor if he'll look over your draft on larger projects as well. :)
