Categories Comments Great for these types of students If you aren't positive on what you want to do in your future, definitely go here because you can get some of your basics done at a cheaper rate. Also for students that want to go to college, but aren't completely ready to live on their own.
Tips for prospective students It allowed me to switch from high school mode to college without having a complete environment change. I was able to stay at home, work and still go to classes. It was just like going to high school again but with more responsibility on your part for assignments.
Bang for the buck I took 6 classes for my first semester and it only cost me about $560. For a first time college student that was a lot easier for me to fork out, than a $20,000 tuition. Also since there are many campuses, you can choose many different professors in different campuses.
Am enjoying being here I liked how I wasn't stuck on campus because I still lived at home. I was able to go to my classes and then go to work or home without feeling homesick or trapped in one area. It was nice to just get done with my classes and then be able to leave and do whatever I wanted to do afterwards.
Am learning a lot Not only did I learn the criteria that was taught to me, but I also learned to be more responsible and make sure that I got all my work done. Also I think I am ready to go to a 4-year college now since I had a trial-run here and it jump started my college education.

Categories Comments Campus Safety patrol cars are constantly driving across the campus ensuring the safety of the students.
Bang for the buck if your looking to get your basics out of the way, this is the perfect place 12 hrs a semester will run you about 842$ this is what i recently paid very reasonable when utd is charging 4 times as much for the same classes.
Academic Rigor the teachers in collin are there to challenge you and raise your intelligence by getting you to think not simply giving you the answers. the student to faculty ratio is very reasonable and helpful for most, and the faculty is always there to help.
Tips for prospective students start in collin its truly a great place to start and raise your gpa to an exceptional level.
In three sentences the recent change in collin turning into a 4 year university has helped the university and student reach a higher level of education. it has made it possible to become more prepared to transfer into a larger state university such as utd. overall the school is showing improvement in becoming a great stater school.

Categories Comments Campus Safety i feel absolutely safe on the collin college campus, there is constantly security driving around campus.
Greek Life no real greek life, as this is a community college.
Clubs and Activities as previously mention, collin college offers a decent amount of clubs. check out the school website, it lists all of them from a-z!
Great for these types of students the campus is great for students who are trying to save a few dollars and knock out their basics before moving on to a 4-year university. the college has many agreements with universities around the area to provide guaranteed admission to qualified students!
Bang for the buck collin college offers one of the lowest tuition and fees costs for community colleges in all of texas, of course it's a 'bang for buck' !
What to do for fun there are an ample amount of clubs and organizations, from the little bachs music club, to the literary society for english majors and lovers. there are also small fitness centers located in each of the 3 main campuses, so students can exercise for free!
Food and Dining cougar den is a great place to grab a bite between classes. they offer a wide variety of foods for all taste buds!
Dorm Life most of the campuses don't house students, but the campus on spring creek has student apartments which are decent, but you'd be better off looking for off-campus housing.
Academic Rigor the classes are what you make out of them. the intro and freshman level courses can be easy, but the advanced courses can be challenging.
Tips for prospective students classes fill up fast, so make sure to register early to get in the ones you want! also, be aware that there are 3 main campuses, so make sure to schedule your classes at the same campus or else you'll be driving around like crazy!
In three sentences collin college is an extremely great investment. the tuition is low, and the classes are great. i feel very prepared to take on a 4-year university after studying here.

Categories Comments Campus Safety I have never felt safer while visiting in any other campus.
Bang for the buck So happy I did this to get my basics done first before transferring to a University! I have saved hundreds!!!
What to do for fun Their electives are all very fun and different! They have acting, vocal lessons, music, archery, tennis, soccer, dance, and almost anything you could think of!! If there is something you've always wanted to learn, Collin has it!
Food and Dining The food is great! Its always hot and fresh and made to your specific taste! My favorite thing there would have to be their coffee! I prefer their coffee over Starbucks any day, but if you cant go without Starbucks, well there is one there on CAMPUS!!
Dorm Life The dorms give you better and faster access to all of the perks that Collin college provides, right at your doorstep!
Academic Rigor They challenge and push you to your best, while providing you with the tools to succeed.
Tips for prospective students I would suggest going to see the advisers if you ever need help with finding which classes to take there at Collin. They show you which classes will transfer to your major if applied towards a different University.
In three sentences This school is a great place to get your basic classes and more out of the way before transferring to an University. All of the teachers I have met really try to help you succeed in college. Not only are the teachers great, but it is in a safe central environment where the campus is breath taking!

Categories Comments Campus Safety On site police officers in full view each and every day and night the college is open. They will even escort you to your vehicle if called upon to do so.
Clubs and Activities Phi Theta Kappa, Voice, etc....
Great for these types of students Working adults, single parents, incoming freshmen that want the college experience without having to leave home.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus Student Life provides finals study tips with treats and water bottles for you the week of your final exams for every semester.
Bang for the buck Collin College is the least expensive of all college's in the state of Texas. Enough said!
Food and Dining Vending machines on site, as well as a multitude of restaurant's within an 1/8 of a mile. Walking distance!!!
Academic Rigor There will be many challenges that you endure throughout your college career, so be prepared to study hard, devote 3 hours for every credit hour outside of every class to ensure your goals are reached.
Tips for prospective students Find a study group for each class and utilize the private meeting rooms in the library. Use your professors office hours before you find yourself in academic difficulty. Engage in all of the clubs that this college has to offer to better prepare yourself for a leadership role when you enter the workplace after graduation.
In three sentences This college has an excellent faculty that genuinely cares for their students. The Honors program helps to unlock the potential of each student that is willing to work hard. The flexibility of scheduling makes it to where anyone can find classes that meets their scheduling guidelines.

Categories Comments Campus Safety There are campus police officers if you need them. There are alert systems in case of weather or criminal activity happening around campus. If there is an issue, we are immediately notified by e-mail and can further inquire about it.
Clubs and Activities There are plenty of clubs to choose from, just look around! There are about 6 honor societies on campus, which is great for the honor student. We also have 50+ clubs to choose from. There are plenty of sports to pick, as well as dancing and archery.
Great for these types of students People who want to save money, without necessarily skipping out on the education. You still get awesome professors, but for way less than other places.
Bang for the buck Collin College has the lowest tuition cost in the entire state of Texas. With the in-county rate for tuition and fees being $34 per credit hour, this is one of the best places to go to save a buck.
What to do for fun There is shopping around the campus which is always fun. Also, there's a basketball court that you may be able to play on when people aren't practicing. There is always campus events going on and plenty of clubs to participate in.
Food and Dining There is only the Cougar Cafe, which isn't the ideal place to eat. However, around campus there is plenty to go eat. On campus though, the Cougar Cafe is a bit expensive for the poor college student, and the food isn't my favorite choice.
Dorm Life There isn't a dorm on campus, but there are apartments. I live at home currently, so I couldn't tell you how they are. But from what I can say is that they are very close to the campus, making them convenient.
Academic Rigor The classes are not too challenging, but not too easy either. It's a matter of putting in the time in order to get the grade. As long as you are dedicated and focused, as most college classes require, then it won't be a bad academic year.
Tips for prospective students This college is probably not a choice to consider as far as earning a degree here. However, core courses like Government, English, Math etc are perfect for completing here. Just make sure to research the best professor possible for each class and learn to talk to them constantly.
In three sentences This college offered a breath of fresh air in your wallet. Not only are the classes are affordable, but offer a valuable educational experience without breaking the bank. This college is perfect for getting your core classes knocked out, while also enjoying educational opportunities.

Categories Comments Great for these types of students Quad C is great for all introverted and extroverted individuals. Skittish about the college life then go here...don't want to sell your arm to pay for classes then go here...wanting a more intimate setting to learn but still have the university ambiance, then come here...whatever you'd want Quad C can provide.
Bang for the buck With everyone trying to save what they can, why spend money on Basic classes at a university when you can pay less by attending Quad C, be guaranteed an audience with your professors for help, and have the university feel without the main worry of how much will it cost me?
Am enjoying being here You cant go wrong with a transition from high school to this university feeling college campus. Taking classes at Quad C are more intimate than a large university setting, but have the ambiance of and presentation as that of a university. The college campus setup provides its students with a university feel that not many other community colleges can provide. Take a class or a few here and you'd never want to leave the feel that Collin County College provides...

Categories Comments Great for these types of students This college is perfect for students interested in taking basic courses and then transferring to a different college to further their education. You save on thousands of dollars and get the same education.
Tips for prospective students Study and make the time you spend at Collin County Community College worth the few dollars that you spend here.
Bang for the buck Can you get better prices?! No. With the discounted prices for tuition and books you get a well-affordable education as well as resources available through the school just because you are a student. Not to mention the free access to the fitness center.
Am enjoying being here CCCCD is a great college to start out at. It's the perfect environment for small town feel and one-on-one classroom help to help any student transfer from high school to college atmosphere.
Am learning a lot Texas is known for their great education experiences and CCCCD supports that. The knowledge acquired here will only help you as you further your degree.

Categories Comments Great for these types of students Studious, persevering, dedicated students.
Tips for prospective students A tip for prospective students is to read your books. You can take notes in your class but in order to make an A you have to read. I cannot emphasize this enough.
Bang for the buck Definitely worth the money to go here. A class is only 125 [without books], so it's definitely worth the money.
Am enjoying being here The school atmosphere is pretty strict, you meet people and talk to people only in your classroom or your group that you work in. Not very much socialization between people outside of the people you meet in your classes.
Am learning a lot My dual-credit courses that I've taken during high school has prepared me for the courses offered at this college. So I get some slack in most classes because most of the material overlaps.

Categories Comments Great for these types of students Collin College is great for these types of students and I recommend it to anybody looking to further their education.
Tips for prospective students My tips for prospective students would be to put in the effort and work and you will get As in all of your classes. Any students that don't do well are usually the ones who don't try. All you have to do is show up to class, listen to your professors and do the homework and studying and college will be a breeze.
Bang for the buck The tuition rate at Collin College is very inexpensive. Honestly, you will probably pay more for your books than the actual tuition and that is saying a lot! Rather than spending a bunch of money at a university the first two years of college, spend them at the nation's leading community college which has one of the lowest tuition rates in the entire country.
Am enjoying being here I enjoy being at Collin College. I am a first-year student at Collin College and I like the atmosphere compared to high school. The atmosphere at Collin College is very welcoming and warm and the people are very nice there. Although it is a community college, the tightly-knit people make it feel like it is something more than that.
Am learning a lot What I have learned in at Collin College is becoming very beneficial to me. The classes that have benefited me the most are financial accounting, managerial accounting and intro to business because these classes are more in depth of the major that I want to go into, which is business. The college has great highly rated professors that have taught at high-level universities and have much experience in the workplace as well as at the collegiate-level.

Categories Comments Great for these types of students Anyone who is short on money and wants a College education.
Tips for prospective students Contact your professors about books needed for classes before the class starts. Suggested sites are Craigslist and E-bay.
Bang for the buck It's roughly $33/credit hour and is one of the highest ranked community colleges in the nation.
Am enjoying being here Campus isn't oversized and has LOTS of extras.
Am learning a lot Nearly every professor is willing to help you so long as you at least give a little bit of effort.

Categories Comments Tips for prospective students Take Professor Eldridge for History 1301, He's amazing at giving you the information from a student friendly view.
Bang for the buck I calculated out my total hours here and so far i have spent around $2,000 but that has been 37 hours. I realized that coming to Collin has saved me around $20,000 for my first 2 years of college.
Am enjoying being here I love the atmosphere here, the students are friendly and you see each other so often that you start to get to know everyone since its such a small campus.
Am learning a lot Since graduating high school i have moved out to Plano to go to the Spring Creek campus. I have learned so much its crazy and the teachers help you to make sure you understand the material. my largest class is probably 30 students and the teacher handles it well.

Categories Comments Great for these types of students This college has such a cultural diverse population. It also cheap and there are many locations. I honestly believe that anyone would be able to come to classes here no matter what their race or financial situation.
Tips for prospective students Go a week in advance to check out where your classes are. This really helped me! Also, if you have questions don't be afraid to email your teachers using the cougarweb system they have set up. I recently had a question about my books for next semester, so I emailed the teacher. I soon found out that one of the $50 books listed as required really wasn't used in the class. Yay for saving money!
Bang for the buck This college was the cheapest one out there. I am paying off my loan while I am in school and, because the college is so affordable, it is relatively easy.
Am enjoying being here Collin College has a nice campus. There are many activities that go on such as a hot air balloon festival and ethnic diversity celebrations. It is easy to get around campus and, because it is all in one building, there are no long walks (or runs) needed to arrive at your next class.
Am learning a lot I attend courses at Collin College. I study at the Spring Creek campus and have just completed my first semester. The teachers are wonderful and each one makes sure that you understand the material. Everyone there is super-friendly and always open to questions.

Categories Comments Great for these types of students GED students or anyone who did not get a chance to graduate high school. Also Collin County offer many programs to complete without getting your Associate or Bachelor, also directly partnership with UTD or UNT if any student wants to transfer to a university after 2 years.
Tips for prospective students I'm very happy as a current student. My classes are enjoyable and easy to comprehend. Home works are moderate and the professors always make sure to remind their students not to forget. The school always make you feel very welcomed and classmates are nice. Great choice!
Bang for the buck The college tuition is VERY affordable. Also, the school is very helpful and on speed at everything including admission, financial aid and registration. Classes are very flexible with anyone who either have a full time job such as me or families, even someone who is active in an academic program.
Am enjoying being here Everyone is extremely friendly and helpful. My first classmate in Psychology class was respectful and willing to work with anyone else in the group. We had a group report of 7 pages. Each of us had to complete our parts we agreed on and it went very smooth. I had no problems with anyone I have met so far. I feel very comfortable being at school nights I have my classes. Safety issue is moderate.
Am learning a lot Great school! That's the first thing I have to say about my impression. Collin County Community College provides many tools to drive students to succeed. The professors are very helpful and always willing to communicate with the students at all time. My first semester experience was overwhelmed. It is my first year attending college and I had to get used to being in a routine of class work. Therefore, I made a couple mistakes of when and how to turn in some assignments. My English teacher was very sweet, generous and did not hesitate for any questions we had. She took the time to meet up with me for the mistake I have made not turning in work appropriately. I appreciated her kindness to help me achieve the goal. The lessons are short and understandable, always to the point of what was being taught and we enjoyed being in class ninety nine percent. It was such an eye opener coming from high school to college.

Categories Comments Campus Safety i have never had a problem on campus, and i always see officers both inside the building, and patrolling the lot.
Great for these types of students part time or evening classes are great, and diverse. the amount of courses offered is quite impressive for a community college.
Bang for the buck good tuition rates, especially for in county students.
What to do for fun library is very well staffed and stocked, could spend hours in there!
Food and Dining cougar cafe is a little pricey, but good. small variety of foods.
Dorm Life no dorms, on campus housing is available in the apartment complex across the street. but be warned, the staff is very over protective, and will go through your home, and enforces a curfew. best left to freshmen with discipline issues.
Academic Rigor classes aren't too hard as long as you pay attention and attend. small class size helps when you need help, or individual assistance.
Tips for prospective students register early! take earlier in the day classes, and push yourself to attend every class meeting, attendance matters.
In three sentences clean and functional large campus. friendly and helpful staff, and teachers. well priced, simple registration

What to do for fun multiple sports and extra-curricular activities and groups to explore.

Categories Comments Campus Safety I feel pretty safe most of the time.
Greek Life No greek life.
Great for these types of students This school is great for students who have a plan and are dedicated to transferring to a larger university. If you are one to kind of stand still and be content where you are, you will never end up finishing your degree and will most likely not be motivated to transfer to a larger university.
Bang for the buck One of the cheapest community colleges around these days. It is so worth it to get a few basic classes done here and save a few thousand dollars in the process.
What to do for fun Tons of organizations to join, if that is your thing.
Food and Dining Cafe is super delicious with tons of options!
Dorm Life No dorms.
Academic Rigor This also depends on what classes/professors you take. If you want to be challenged at Collin, it is definitely possible. But it is also possible to slide through with easy A's.
Tips for prospective students Going to Collin to start out your college career is a fantastic idea. You will get a feel for what college work is really like, while also saving thousands of dollars.
In three sentences There are tons of good, dedicated professors who really want to see these students succeed. Their admissions and adviser offices are very unorganized though, which can be frustrating. I think this is a great place to start your college career, before heading to the 4 year university.

What to do for fun Nothing, commuter campus. Make your own fun with your friends.
Food and Dining There is a cafeteria and it's not too bad price wise or taste wise. Also, the book store has plenty of goodies for sure! But, being a commuter campus no one really eats there.
Academic Rigor It's not easy, you still have to work hard. But, it's easier than a four year school because they know you have to work, and that you're busy with other things other than a typical college student.
Tips for prospective students Know where you want to transfer, and exactly what degree you want to receive. Also, know exactly what you want to be when finished with school. It makes you finish faster, and also makes it easier to know what to take and not take for classes. Also, when changing your mind it can delay your graduation date. I learned that the hard way.
In three sentences I never really choose this school. It was chosen for me based on what my parents were willing to pay for. But, the catch was get my associates degree from here, and I would be bale to go anywhere. But, it's not a bad school. It's the same basic classes every where. The social aspect is defiantly missing.

Clubs and Activities I did not join any but heard good things about this.
Great for these types of students This school is great for everyone especially people who just graduated high school, people who aren't sure what they want to do, or people who have been out of school for a long time and want to get in the rhythm of being in college
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus I enjoy the Humanities and language art and activities in the building. It is neat to see peoples art and to learn about different classes
Bang for the buck They are building another building for a library which will be much bigger and offer more study rooms and computer areas.
What to do for fun They have a open gym for basketball and tennis courts. They offer many free activities for students like aerobics, Pilates, open swim and more.
Food and Dining They offer many different types of foods and have a large cafeteria so students can sit and enjoy their meal. The food is affordable and edible:)
Dorm Life I am off campus
Academic Rigor The teachers all expect you to be there and do your work. If you don't show up its your loss and you miss lecture and notes. The work is challenging yet not difficult if you study and show up for class
Tips for prospective students This is a great school for people who just graduated high school or for those who want to go to school yet are intimidated by large schools. This is a big school with lots of students and teachers but it is without the rush of larger schools. There are many places to hang out, meet friends or study. The teachers are professional, friendly and REAL. Most of them enjoy their work, the students and are willing to go above and beyond to help their students reach their potential. Its a great school and offers tours.
In three sentences The atmosphere is wonderful. The students and teachers are helpful and nice. My teachers have all been amazing and have helped me so much.

Categories Comments Campus Safety I've seen 5 cop cars within a 1 mile radius of campus. Police are quite active, and not in the bad way. Collin County requires officers to have bachelors degrees, unlike most police agencies. I once had car trouble, and campus police reached me in about 3 minutes! :)
What to do for fun They have a very nice weight room, looks better than a gym. Plus students get free access to a pool at Oak Point Rec Center. There's plenty of clubs, like political science, muslim student, lulac, mock trial, etc.
Food and Dining They have great food selection on campus. They have a cafe where they make burgers, fries, nuggets, chicken tenders, etc. Then theres salad and pasta in another section. They also sell the usual coffee, energy drinks, protein shakes, bars, candy, ice cream bars, and whatever else you can think of.
Academic Rigor The teachers are alright for the most part. I got A's in everything except physics and financial accounting. Do not take Barbara Palmer ever! I signed up for another teacher, but was switched to Palmer. If you get Palmer, drop her immediately!
Tips for prospective students If you're thinking about coming here, you've made a great choice. Collin is so nice, you won't even feel its a community college. I thoroughly enjoyed attending Collin College.
In three sentences A fine place to be! I felt like I was at a University, because the campuses look so nice and the staff are so helpful and caring. Great student benefits and facilities too!

Food and Dining Frisco & McKinney are chock full of great places to eat. There is no cafeteria on the campus.
Dorm Life Not aware if any living accommodation are available.

Dorm Life NO DORMS.
Academic Rigor I took english class and it was intense but not over bearing. We had a set number of essays and the teacher was very avid about deadlines.
Tips for prospective students If you are catching dart to go to this campus you can sit in the front of the school next to the administrations office or go to a nook that's a little past the place where you pay for classes. Either way it will only take a max of 3 minutes to walk to the bus stop.

Categories Comments What to do for fun Collin College offers a workout facility, a racket ball court, and many other areas for activities. The Plano campus has a great theatre if you enjoy seeing plays. Also Collin College has one of the greatest men's tennis teams in the nation right now so if you enjoy watching tennis or playing tennis, Collin College has a great program.
Food and Dining As far as food and dining Collin College has vending machines and a cafe, but they do not have too many healthy things to offer in the vending machines or cafe. Also the Plano campus does have a dining area but most of the other campus's do not provide one. One thing the college does lack is variety for food and dining and healthy options.
Dorm Life Collin College does not have dorms although the Plano campus does have apartments close to campus, which offer special rates to students that attend Collin College. For the most part students who attend this institution choose to live with their parents. The apartments offer special rates to Collin College students to help save money because most have to attend because they can not afford the tuition of a four year college.
Academic Rigor The classes offered at Collin College are can be very rigorous and sometimes are as challenging as some four year university courses. The professors at Collin College can provide students with rigorous courses specifically science courses because Collin College has one of the top Nursing programs in the nation, which was recently named a Center of Excellence. I have also heard from another student who is currently taking pre-med classes at Baylor that Collin College provides some very challenging courses.
Tips for prospective students I would tell prospective students to utilize all of the tools that Collin College provides. One thing future students should do is talk to the academic advisors because they can help guide a student in finding the right classes to take. Also the provides students with many things such as study rooms, calculators, and laptops to check out.
In three sentences This college is one of the best community colleges in the state of Texas because not only does it provide classes that are challenging, it also provides its students with many tools to make the transition to a four year college as easy as possible. Collin College also has one the largest student bodies out of Texas community colleges surpassing Stephen F. Austin university a four year college, so as a student you get the same feel of attending a four year university at times. Collin College also has a great honors program that provides challenging classes which provide honor suites with a smaller number of students so there can be more one on one time between students and professors.

Greek Life Since Collin College is predominately a two year school there is not much of a Greek Life atmoshpere.
Clubs and Activities There are many clubs to join and is a great way to meet more people that share your common interests.
Great for these types of students On the Frisco campus there is a barista for you coffee lovers.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus The Plano campus is known more as the 'Arts' campus. The Frisco campus has many buildings that can take some time to walk from when exchanging classes. They just built a new parking building to allow more room for cars to park. The McKinney campus is mostly where the nursing students and firefighters are. All campus's are really well maintained.
Bang for the buck Even though I do not live in the Collin county district and have to pay a higher rate than people who live in district, it is still more affordable than going to a university.
What to do for fun There are many types of student organizations and societies to join at the school. Collin college's website is very user friendly and easy to navigate to find other activities to do as well.
Food and Dining There is quite the selection of food at the dinning area. Most of the food is fried though. There are some healthier options like salads, fruit cups, and even yogurt.
Dorm Life There is only one campus that has student housing which is at the Plano campus.
Academic Rigor It all depends on your professor. Some professors are unyielding and do not work with you while other professors are amazing at being more flexible and allow more options and room to improve your grades.
Tips for prospective students Talk with more than one advisor especially when dealing with the adviser's at the Frisco campus. Ask a few different advisers your questions because not all advisers are knowledgeable at the same level.

Categories Comments Campus Safety Collin College police create a safe learning environment for students. They patrol the campus and parking lots to ensure student's well being.
Clubs and Activities Collin College has a men and women's basketball team, as well as an array of theatre shows each semester and many other activities. Students are more than likely to find a club or activity to join which best suits them.
Great for these types of students Collin College is great for all types of students. For those who simply wish to obtain an Associate's degree, Collin is definitely a reputable institution to graduate from. For those who would like to transfer to a University after two years, Collin College definitely prepares them for that. Or if any of the Bachelor's degrees offered at Collin are desirable, that third option is also made available.
Bang for the buck Collin College is definitely more than worth the money. For a very reasonable price, students receive a quality education which prepares them to either transfer to a four year University or venture off into their career field of choice.
Food and Dining Collin College food and dining is satisfying. There is a range of food offered in the Cougar Cafe, for people with all prefereces.
Dorm Life Collin College does not have dorm rooms, as is expected at a Community College, but does have student apartments on campus. The apartments are mediocre, but definitely a peaceful, safe and pleasant place for students to live.
Academic Rigor Academically, Collin College prepares its students to transfer to a four year institute. Most of the professors are University professors, so they teach at a high standard. They also make themselves available for further tutoring if students are in need. Collin College recently became a four year institution, now offering a selection of Bachelor's degrees for those who do not wish to transfer.
Tips for prospective students If you have not yet decided what you want to major in and you're having difficulty, schedule a meeting with the career advisors at Collin College. Categories Comments Campus Safety I needed to check some books out for a research paper, and had to be there on campus past 5:00 P.M. The campus, while dark and absent of a lot of people, still seemed to be extremely safe.
Greek Life I don't participate in any Greek activities or socials.
Clubs and Activities I am not currently apart of any clubs, nor do I participate in any campus activities, so my rating in this category should not be counted.
Great for these types of students Collin College is great for students that may be in the same type of situation as I am in where I am a stay-at-home mother. I get to attend school, while my children are attending school at the same time. (Not to mention that both of my children are special needs children, but I digress.) I think that Collin College would be great for anyone else that may want to receive a quality education from a community college that has excellent tuition rates, as well.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus There are none that I know of at this time.
Bang for the buck So far, I feel as though I am receiving a quality education for the price that I am paying-especially since the instructors expect only the best from all of their students. I am currently not a resident of the county that Collin College, and yet I am paying less in tuition than I would have been had I attending a community college closer to me that is offering the same degree program that I hope to eventually be accepted for.
What to do for fun As I am rarely on campus, it's hard for me to say what exactly their is to do for fun.
Food and Dining From what I have seen from the few times that I've been on the McKinney campus, there are some options, not only on campus, but also all around the campus for food and dining choices that can be made. I especially love the place for coffee that's located within the library, in case you need a caffeine pick-me-up while you're trying to study.
Dorm Life I am a student who lives off campus, so my rating in this category should not even be counted. I will say that anytime that I have to go to one of their campuses, everyone is always nice and polite.
Tips for prospective students For prospective students I would suggest making an academic calendar that has reminders as to what assignments are due when, and really paying attention to all of the assignments that you have to complete with their due dates. The instructors are fair in that they expect you to complete all of their assignments by the due dates they've listed in the course calendar. If you don't pay attention to those due dates, then you have no one else, with except of yourself, to blame, if you don't receive the grade you think you may deserve. Also, the instructors are understanding of extenuating circumstances, so long as you bring these circumstances to their attention in a timely manner.
In three sentences Collin College has been very easy for me to attend thus far. I have started out taking all of my classes online, and it's been very easy for me to attend to my daily life while taking my courses online. The instructors have, from day one, made it clear about deadlines for assignments, and they've always been easy to get in touch with through their email addresses.

Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus There is a waterfall inside the school. It's nice to sit by it and work. It's a gathering place during lunch. There is also many little out of the way places to relax and study.
Bang for the buck Collin College is easy on the wallet. In return, you are getting an education to rival any 4 year institution.
What to do for fun There are many things to do on campus and off. School athletic events, concerts and lectures. Volunteer opportunities are endless. The Plano/Dallas area offers a large variety of fun. Free events are just an internet search away.
Food and Dining The dining facility is open for breakfast and lunch. The cafe has everything from eggs to hash browns during breakfast at great prices. Very tasty too. There are several options for lunch. The cafe has great hamburgers among other choices. The dining facility has a sandwich line and the lady makes your sandwich smile. No, really she does. She uses cucumber, olives and toothpicks. It will make you smile too! There is also a hot lunch line with different options each day. Some of it good, some of it not so good. Just depends on the day and what they cooked. Soup and salad bar rounds out the dining experience.
Dorm Life I don't know much about dorm life. The Spring Creek campus has apartments available. They look like a regular apartment on the outside. I have never been inside.
Academic Rigor The academic structure is like most colleges, as long as you do the work and study then your grades will reflect the time put into it. It's not an easy A and many courses require lab time. Tutoring is available to everyone.
Tips for prospective students There is a wonderful mix of returning adults and high school graduates. The teachers are supportive and eager to help. Collin is not a party school. If you want to learn, then Collin is for you.
In three sentences It's a great school for everyone. I am proud to say my school is Collin College. It's affordable education at its' finest.

Great for these types of students Great for straight from high school as well as working students with families

Categories Comments Campus Safety The campus police are well fit and quick to respond. They are also a very nice lot!
Clubs and Activities There are many organizations around the campus. I recommend joining Phi Theta Kappa.
Great for these types of students This school is great for all types of students. It's a challenging school that will really develop your intellect while not reaching too deep into your pockets. It's great for students with children because there are so many classes available per subject that it is easy to make a schedule around your life.
Bang for the buck Collin College is less than 1,000 dollars a semester while providing a top-notch education. They hold transfer fairs and constantly have advisers from other schools to help students prepare to transfer. Going to Collin has saved me tens of thousands of dollars by not going to a larger university for a duration of 4 years.
What to do for fun There is always something to do at school. Walk down any hallway and you can see flyers/posters/notifications of various events being held by organizations around school. We also have one of the most active and successful academic fraternities in the world: Phi Theta Kappa.
Food and Dining It took me almost 2 years to muster up the courage to eat at the diner available at campus, and I walked away wondering what took me so long. It's delicious and fairly affordable with a variety of menu options.
Dorm Life There are no dorms at Collin College in the traditional sense. There is off-campus apartments within proximity to each campus and they seem to provide very affordable rates.
Academic Rigor Collin College is not where I ended up after high school. It is however, the first true higher learning experience in my life. An interesting fact: Collin College once was the only community college system that Harvard accepted transfer credits from. This is a testament to the quality of education you can receive here. Also, our Phi Theta Kappa chapters is one of the highest ranked in the world. Collin College promotes critical thinking and employs professors that demand a lot from their students. Without the challenge issued by my school, I do not think I would have reached the potential I have today.
Tips for prospective students There are more campuses than just Spring Creek! Collin provides a wealth of help for students struggling, be wise to use them: math lab, writing lab, tutoring, et cetera. Try to get to school early, parking gets competitive!
In three sentences Collin College has a fantastic faculty and staff to ensure your academic success. The campuses provide a rich college experience and offer plenty of extracurricular activities to enrich your academic life. Signing up for classes is easy with an adviser or using CougarWeb.

Categories Comments Campus Safety The safety on campus is awesome, the security is very understanding to students as well as discerning.
Clubs and Activities I am a leader of an organization called F.O.C.U.S. (Fellowship of Christian University Students), and let me tell you, it's awesome! I love the people that are apart of it. I have created friendships that I know will last a lifetime. The community of this group of people is just wonderful. We involve hanging out to do homework together to setting up events and activities on campus for other students to be apart of as well.
What to do for fun Find organizations, clubs, and groups to get to know people. It's super fast and easy and it's a fun way to make new friends who share the same interests as you. Bring board games to the cafe and play with people, work out, find a group of friends and play a sport outside on the fields.
Food and Dining The food is tasty. The dining is good. The school was apparently structured to be a mall, so Collin has a food court and seating area that looks like a mall. I think it is pretty cool.
Dorm Life I did not experience the dorm life; I lived at home with my parents still since the school was down the street from my house.
Academic Rigor Since you are attending college and taking college level classes, the professors expect adult like behavior from the students. The instructors will go over the syllabus during the first week of classes, let you know when deadlines are due and expect you to understand the guidelines and follow through.
Tips for prospective students For those who are going to be attending Collin College, I advise you to get to know your teachers, arrive early to class, ask questions daily, talk to your professors about what it takes to excel in the class. You will stand out of the crowd and that is something every professor is looking for in a student.
In three sentences It has been a wonderful experience at Collin College. Collin College has a well rounded foundation of curriculum for students who are looking to transfer to an University or to receive their Associates degree. The professors and teachers have wonderful counseling techniques and skills that will help students strive for greatness when it comes to education.

Lastly the library is cool when you want to get on the computer or just chill and do some studying/reading.
Food and Dining The Alumni hall has a cute little cafe. Also the students who are studying culinary arts at times are making food that students can purchase. The food is not expensive either, which is a great thing!
Dorm Life This college does not have dorms, but there are apartments close by that are not too expensive because they work with the college students.
Academic Rigor The professors at Collin are the best at giving their students a challenge. Levels of critical thinking are high. Also they are strict on cheating/plagiarism which is the push for thinking outside of the box all students need to be successful in college. The work is not easy but not hard. It just requires you to think and study.
Tips for prospective students When going to Collin, students to get to campus early because the parking can get crazy at times. Also never wait until the last minute to sign up for classes. The first day of registration DO IT!
In three sentences Highly recommend college students to attend Collin College their first 2 years of schooling. Categories Comments Food and Dining Collin College offers healthy and popular food choices in its Cougar Den. Breakfast and Lunch are served along with quicker, prepackaged options, such as cookies and chips. There is also a variety of fast food and sit down restaurants located near each of the campus locations.
Dorm Life Collin College is unique as it does not have dorms, but is in very close proximity with many apartment complexes. Collin is the ideal college for the student in the Frisco/Plano/McKinney area who wants to go to school while staying at home to save money the first couple of years.
Academic Rigor As a community college, Collin offers classes of all varieties, ranging from a moderate level of difficulty to very academically challenging. It also depends on the teacher you sign up for; while some teachers believe all students try their best all the time and give you the benefit of the doubt, other teachers make sure you work hard for A's. Either way, all of the classes are great learning environments.

Great for these types of students Those looking to get an excellent and high level of education on a budget. This is a REAL college with associations and degree's set up to transfer to ANY state college.
Bang for the buck So cheap, but so worth it.
What to do for fun Luckily the school is right by US 75 which will take you 10 minutes down the road to Dallas. Clubs. Bars. Hookah lounges. Bowling. Movies. Fast food. Walmart. - It's all nearby.
Food and Dining Food can be very overpriced at the cafe's. I just don't go any more.
Dorm Life I live in the dorm (aka - apartments) on campus. With all utilities included and only one roommate, I pay around $500. Not a bad deal for what you get.
Academic Rigor Pretty clear cut. You will work, but it's nothing the average student can't grasp. There are plenty of resources available at this school to pass.
Tips for prospective students Make sure to plan ahead. I'd give it a good 6 months to apply and finalize everything. The front office has such a large number of students and is understaffed. Sometimes there are complications or other setbacks that you cannot expect. I highly recommend the 6 month rule for those with VA benefits like myself.
In three sentences Overall, the college is well rounded in diversity, teaching and instruction, and extra curricular activities. There's a gym, basketball court, plenty of seating, and a good number of students that attend the different campuses. Overall, the staff is excellent, but the front office can be a bit overwhelming and short tempered.

Categories Comments Campus Safety Every day, all day you can see police officers walking around the school. They are even friendly with students. Crime issues are not very usual. Although one night I had my wallet taken from my bag, the police office looked in the cameras to try to find the criminal are they worked on the case.
Greek Life There's not really a greek life in this college. Just honors society's and major related organizations.
Clubs and Activities They have a large list of college clubs and activities. I am president of two current clubs, the music organization and the soccer club and I can see the active participation of students in both. The school supports the different organizations the best they can. You'll certainly find the right one for you. You'll meet a lot of fun people to share your interests with.
Great for these types of students Active, curious, open minded, motivated, studious and lovers of extreme weathers (it's texas, you don't know what temperature to expect!)
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus An unusual locations could be the art exposition that always have interesting, sometimes weird art works like paintings or sculptures. Often these are made by students.
Bang for the buck Your budget will be safe with this college's cost. Being the lowest tuition in texas, it's worthy next to the quality of the education. For in state students it will be very cheap. for out of state payers won't be really expensive, it won't exceed the 2000$ aprox.
What to do for fun The city where it's located has several social places to hang out, restaurants, clubs, sport places and other things to do. It's also near Dallas, so you can get there easily and have access to more fun places. In the college they have many clubs and activities for students. The people you meet there is varied and you'll certainly find the right new friends to have fun with.
Food and Dining Dining here has a basic menu. Meals would be hamburgers, sandwiches, fries and fried chicken among others. IT would work for occasional meals but not for a daily basis nutrition. The most famous meal is probably is curly fries, and the sandwiches are maybe the best choice, for their variety and fresh ingredients.
Dorm Life Dorm life may not be applicable here since this college doesn't have a dorm but an apartment complex right in front of the building across the parking lot. Apartments are enough to live well but not a five star hotel type of course, and they follow college dorm's rules. Most students living there are international students and part of the tennis team of the college.
Academic Rigor Academic rigor is enough to learn but not that much to make you go crazy. It mostly depends on the class and the professor but you can deal with the work and at the same time prepare for an university level.
Tips for prospective students Search and ask for the best professors so you can choose them for your classes. There are many but you have to find them. Sometimes it's hard to find a parking spot so get a bit early for your classes. Make use of the gym, it's well equipped. Music and theater departments are of the best in the area; you can enjoy classes even if it's not your major and you should attend shows and concerts.
In three sentences A motor to impulse and motivate students. A solid base to start your career path. A place to know different people with interesting ideas, stories and cultures

Categories Comments Campus Safety There are always campus cops sitting in the parking lot and occasionally patrolling around the campus. You feel safe in-case something unexpected happens since you aren't alone. Plus they Police have their own number, not the general 911 but one specifically for that campus.
Clubs and Activities There are so many activities going on everyday that you can't miss since the college constantly emails you on school updates. You can even start your own club if you wanted to!
Great for these types of students *Undecided Major *Medical field major: courses transfer easily! *Aren't ready to jump into a big college yet but do not want to waste time. (take the basic course here, they transfer to almost every school in the state of Texas!) *If you have been out of school awhile and want to go back without age feeling like a difference. *You just want to learn a new language or perfect your photography, drawing, or even your computer skills. *Want to go back to school and don't know where to start? Start here.
Bang for the buck If you are undecided in what your major will be then this is the perfect school to go to! You can save money if you decide to switch majors since this school is the cheapest and most affordable school in Texas. For 4 classes (15 hours) i paid around $444 in total! The teachers teach in a class of about 30 kids and sometimes less, and the atmosphere is so diverse and friendly that it is the perfect transition from high school to a big state college. Also if you have any questions throughout the semester, the staff is very kind and always there to answer them. Even through email they respond quickly.
What to do for fun You can hangout at Starbucks right across the street from the campus, or go shopping at Ulta or Best Buy while waiting for your next class to start if you don't want to lounge around the campus. Chick fil-ah is also across the campus if you want something to eat, along with other restaurants and fats food.
Food and Dining Well, you can't dine at this college, but they definitely have a variety of snacks and drinks! Whether that be in the vending machines or the school's book store. They do have some quick meals like Ramen Soup or Sandwhiches.
Academic Rigor The atmosphere and staff is always wanting to help that it seems they enjoy it when you come ask them for help. Reaching teacher is a breeze, they are always available and can even met with you one on one if you ask. It could be about grades or a question from the homework, so just ask. The pace is steady if you do your homework and go to class, which makes classes in general not to hard to handle. No worries about the freshmen 15 here!
Tips for prospective students Make sure you ask the advisers in the admission's office for help if you need it. Especially when first making your schedule. They will help find class schedules that suit your busy life and make sure you don't take classes you won't need.
In three sentences If you have general idea of what you would like to major, or even no clue, this is the place to start at. Before transferring to a big state college where you end up deciding to switch majors in the middle of the four years, you should start here where classes are the cheapest in Texas. For 15 hours (four classes) you pay around $444 compared to other schools where you pay thousands, here you have that cushion and wiggle room to change your mind.

Great for these types of students Students that want to save money for a year or two. Also great if you do not know where you want to go or what you want to do.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus None really come to mind.
Bang for the buck Super cheap compared to a University. You will get some great teachers and business professionals. 5 stars for sure.
What to do for fun They have lots of clubs to join. Collin takes pride in their school, and try to offer everything that a University does as far as organizations go.
Food and Dining Have yet to try the food at the campus, but there are really good fast food places and restaurants around the town. You can be done eating and back to the campus in less than 20 minutes.
Dorm Life There is none, but home life is pretty great.
Academic Rigor Pretty easy, and professors are really helpful if you are struggling.
Tips for prospective students Give yourself an hour for lunch in between classes. Do all your classes in one day so that if you work you can get more study hours and work hours. No need for a parking permit at the McKinney campus. Go talk to you professors before you make a bad grade.

What to do for fun Lots of fun in the library studying.

Academic Rigor Very good for a community college, definitely at university level.
Tips for prospective students When you enroll to Collin be sure to speak to an adviser to avoid taking irrelevant classes that do not transfer.

Categories Comments Campus Safety There are Collin College police strolling and patrolling the campus and student apartments at all times. They are EVERYWHERE, whether you want them to be or not!
Greek Life Collin College doesn't have any Greek Life.
Clubs and Activities Collin offers a club and/or activity for almost anything you want to be a part of. Clubs focused on art, theater, ethnicity, academics, guitar, languages- anything your little heart could desire.
Great for these types of students Collin is really great for any type of student.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus From time to time, art exhibitions or protests will be set up in the main lobby. Small snacks are given away around exam times.
Bang for the buck When I started at Collin my tuition was super cheap. I've been there for 3 years, and it has consistently increased with each year that passed. In comparison to major universities or other 4-year schools, Collin still offers cheap tuition.
What to do for fun Collin College has a gym, tennis courts, art studio, and music rooms on campus. Close to the campus is downtown Plano where several bars and restaurants can be found. A disc golf course and park are also nearby.
Food and Dining The cafeteria is what's up. There aren't any fast food chains like other school's have, but the food that is offered is really good and moderately priced.
Dorm Life There aren't any dorms available at Collin College, but there are student apartments located just outside the campus. They're nice enough to live in and include a pool and student center. Nothing fancy. Guests aren't allowed to stay past 10pm though, which is kind of wack. (You WILL get towed or fined)
Academic Rigor The level of difficulty of work is not what will stop students from succeeding. You MUST be committed to completing the mass amounts of assignments and stay on top of things for yourself, because there isn't going to be someone there reminding you when things are due. The MathLab and Writing Center are awesome tools to help students along the way.
Tips for prospective students If you're fresh out of high school, be ready to have a LOT more responsibility. The difficulty of the work is similar to high school, but there's a lot more of it, and quite frankly, professors don't care if you complete it or not. Their pay check is based off of your tuition payments, not on your attendance or grades.
In three sentences Collin College is a great school that offers both 2-year and 4-year degrees and. It's a good transition school, meaning that there are some similarities to high school, but you definitely feel the college difference. The difference between high school and college is noticable, but Collin College still lacks the entire college experience.

Great for these types of students Everyone - older, younger, etc
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus None known
Bang for the buck Yep! Great cost, great education!
What to do for fun On campus? Not sure - I went to a play once that was pretty cool, otherwise since it is a community college it doesn't have alot of after school things like sports, etc
Food and Dining Both campuses I go to have unhealthy food options with everything being fried (and rather expensive). One campus has a few healthier options, but not worth the money,
Academic Rigor Depends on the class/professor
Tips for prospective students Know your professors and make sure they know you by going to their office hours. Get to know a couple professors better than others for future letters of recommendation.
In three sentences This college's basic GE classes are probably very similar to other community colleges, but what it differs in is the quality of the teaching and students of higher level classes and the breadth of class offerings. They also offer TONS of programs to get involved with and have invested money into maintaining and upgrading building facilities. However, I am VERY disappointed that they do not encourage public transit or walking/biking to class - everyone drives!

Categories Comments Academic Rigor Collin College is partnered with many North Texas universities which keeps their academics rigorous.
Tips for prospective students For prospective students, make sure that you know what you want to do and major in during your college years. Many students, especially those trailing through in community colleges, have a hard time figuring out what they want to do. Not knowing takes up more time than necessary for a student to obtain their degree.

Bang for the buck The tuition is affordable. If you are military or a military dependent, it is discounted. For the money spent, you get so much help from teachers and staff. All you have to do is ask. The campus is very nice as well.
What to do for fun I have been to the Central Park campus once and there are all kinds of things to do on University Blvd nearby. There were a whole lot of restaurants.

Dorm Life I live off-campus.

Categories Comments Bang for the buck Pretty amazing for the low cost of five classes. You could take more, though four is full-time.
What to do for fun Join one of the many, many groups or clubs. Go to a play. Listen to a lecture from professionals who frequently come to give insights to their soon-to-be colleagues. It can be fun, if you look.
Food and Dining There's a nice cafe here in Spring Creek, with a variety of food, for a full plate/tray for just a few bucks! It seems to only stay up around lunch time, so come early!
Dorm Life For the availability of being close to the campus, just ten or so minutes to your respective class, it's a steal. And it's rather cheap, if you get four to a room!
Academic Rigor Some of it is a little stressful, having in-depth projects and papers due each week or so, each one demanding your time and dedication for as long as you can, but it's well worth it for the things you learn.
Tips for prospective students Time management is key! Though I suppose it could depend on your major, it's an awesome skill to perfect. Projects and essays nearly every week. Not much time to mess around, but if you practice responsible planning you'll find the time.
In three sentences A perfect school to start out in. It may be a little difficult at first, with all the paperwork and going back and forth, but it's well worth it. It's also a wonderful thing that all of your classes can be in one building.

Categories Comments Great for these types of students If you're an adult/non-traditional student like myself, you'll fit in perfectly! I was intimidated at first, but admissions and financial aid were so helpful. My online courses fit perfectly into my schedule allowing me to work full-time and finish all my core classes.
Bang for the buck This college is incredibly affordable, especially if you live in Collin county. The professors are wonderful and the location is perfect.
What to do for fun The Spring Creek campus is located in Plano and there is so much to do in Plano. I work full-time so I haven't been able to become involved in on-campus life yet, but I definitely plan to.
Food and Dining Truthfully, I have not eaten in the cafeteria yet, but the food smells heavenly when I walk past.
Dorm Life I live off campus in my apartment, but the neighborhood is perfectly fine and I wouldn't mind it at all if it was needed.
Academic Rigor Courses are challenging; even online courses. You really have to put the work in and it's really nothing like high school. You are expected to think critically and put a lot of work into your assignments.
Tips for prospective students If you are planning on doing a lot of courses online be prepared. You must set aside time to do your homework and stay in communication with your professor if you have any questions. Plan on spending several hours dedicated daily to your schoolwork, depending on how many courses you're taking. You must be dedicated and self-motivated.
In three sentences I attend the Spring Creek campus and absolutely love it. I have been doing my courses online and found it to be quite a challenge, but if you have the determination and dedication you can do it. Faculty is always very helpful and willing to meet with you whenever you need help.
