Columbia College Chicago is the largest and most diverse private non-profit arts and media college in the nation. We offer a four-year liberal arts education specifically tailored for a community of gifted, highly motivated students who want to turn their creative talents into rewarding careers. Our student body is comprised of approximately 11,200 students who come from all 50 states and more than 40 foreign countries. The College admits students after a holistic review of their entire application – not just their test scores or class rank – and then provides them with the rigorous academics and unparalleled resources necessary to be successful in a highly competitive 21st century marketplace. We offer Bachelor’s degrees in more than 120 programs of study in the arts, media, and communications. Columbia’s faculty members are industry insiders (artists, designers, executives, writers, filmmakers, marketers, journalists, musicians, entrepreneurs, dancers) with national reputations. Interaction with faculty members who are practicing professionals themselves provides our students with access to valuable expertise, insight, viewpoints, and industry-current aesthetics. Columbia is an eclectic, urban environment located in the city’s historic South Loop neighborhood. Close by are several other colleges and universities, Navy Pier, the Adler Planetarium, the Art Institute, the Field Museum, the Chicago Symphony, the Museum of Contemporary Art, the Harold Washington Library, and the Goodman Theatre. Convenient public transportation allows Columbia’s faculty and students to utilize the whole city as a social, cultural, educational, and professional resource – effectively turning the entire city into our campus.

    Even though Columbia claims to be a liberal arts school, it's really an arts only school, which is fine, but if you're looking for an academically challenging environment, you won't find it here. I liked the creative environment, but the academics aren't worth the price.

    I always knew that I wanted to live in a city, but where I am in the city is unbelievable! All of my classes are within a ten minute walk, I know of five different El stops within five minutes, and State Street is just beside me so I can do anything I want! I knew the school was a good fit for me, but living in the city is just perfect.

    Columbia is definitely a fun school. There are many activities that give students opportunities to work with one another. It does get a little cheesy at times, but you learn to love it. Besides, this is a great city! Chicago has cool people, food, and sites to see.
