The amount of learning that takes place in one semester at Columbia is truly amazing. I have learned more in such a short period of time than I would have ever thought possible. As much as we may all complain about how extensive the Core Curriculum is, it really is one of the aspects that makes a Columbia education so unique. I love sitting in my Lit Hum class, surrounded by students majoring in literature, physics, anthropology, math, and even the engineering students, discussing the literary merits of Lysistrata and the Epic of Gilgamesh. Aside from...

Columbia is a beautiful school with an amazing campus. It's urban, with a wonderful combination of cultural diversity and history, with many modern aspects. The only thing I do not love about it is the price tag.

A school for independent thinkers willing to find opportunities and make a name for themselves. Teachers will not lead students by the hand but they will invest in students that invest in themselves. The student body has people of all walks of life and I've met amazing people here.

The connections made with professors and instructors are great. The climate (in terms of the resources available) is perfect for the student who is itching to be independent and loves the city. However, it gets cold fast and stays cold for long periods of time - it snowed late April and was cold enough for coats in early May.

Columbia University is a vibrant and diverse community that cultivates a sense of independent thinking as well as preparedness for the world outside of undergraduate education. I am privileged to have been chosen to attend such an institution and will always speak highly of my education at Columbia.

Columbia's got a great student body that's both highly diverse and extremely accepting. The professors are all well-versed in their course material and willing to help you with any problems you have with the coursework; for more immediate and/or nonacademic help, the upperclassmen are very friendly and willing to offer advice and help with difficult homework problems. As a perk, the school's in a great location, with plenty to do and see, and offers discounted tickets for Broadway shows, plays, and concerts and your ID can get you into museums and similar places for free.

The curriculum is challenging, but it's more than that which makes Columbia stand above the crowd. Columbia's biggest resource is New York City, with tons of opportunities for internships, volunteering, education, and just plain fun. You are surrounded by so many amazing people, you can learn a lot about them and from them as well, working together pushes you to better yourself.
