    Food and Dining

Dining and food is really not that big because we the students supply that on our own. Since we dont have cafeteria, they made sure we had a kitchen in our room.

    Dorm Life

The dorm life is fun. Stay close to friends and have little group events. Its like home in a way because you're responsible for keeping the place clean and tight. The atmosphere at the dorms is positive and full of energy. Its never problem in the dorms.

    Academic Rigor

The academic here is excellent. The teachers make sure you get your money worth and prepare you to be independent. When focusing on your major, they make sure you get all the information so that you a qaulified for the career.

    Bang for the buck

The Corcoran holds a place in my heart already! The small class sizes, makes it easier to learn, and become apart of the art community. By being a small institute, we form a family, that is not only here for the same passion one is here for, but also a caring family, who's desire is to see everyone prosper in his/her lie goal!

    What to do for fun

For fun its good to walk around Georgetown, and the National Mall. Shopping is always fun, but money is limited, so, its not always the widest din activity to do.

    Food and Dining

Food is very important in a human diet! Clearly! There are lots of eayerys and cafes near campus. There is always dinner halls, and cafes inside the institute as well.

    Dorm Life

I commute from home to college, I do not live in the campus dorms.

    Academic Rigor

I am a BFA Fine Arts student

    Tips for prospective students

It's essential to have a drive and/passion to continue post- secondary plans. Stay focused and love what it is you desire to study!

    In three sentences

The Corcoran College of Art + Design, is not only an institute, but also a museum. First established a museum, The Corcoran opened its doors for students across the the world to view and experience art and its concept. This opportunity is rare, a d should be highly praised of such ingenuousness, a ratings such as a 10 out of 10.

Great for these types of students

If you want an actual job in fine art, photography, design, art education etc., this school is going to be great for you! Corcoran graduates are in high demand in the field, and you just don't get the crazy opportunities that Corcoran students do if you're at a huge college in the middle of nowhere. Furthermore, it's super urban and you're in the middle of DC, so if you like cities, it's perfect.

    What to do for fun

All of DC is available, so there's endless opportunities for fun things to do. There's this really cool old-school theater, E Street Cinema, which shows indie films and classics. It's never crowded and the whole atmosphere is great, and you are not allowed to miss out on that experience!

    Dorm Life

I do not live in the dorms myself, but I haven't heard any complaints from those who do! It's super central so everything in DC is close.

    Academic Rigor

We work hard at the Corcoran. I personally love it, because I clearly see personal progress every single week that I'm here. There is also lots of help to get with assignments, so the hard work really becomes enjoyable work.

    Tips for prospective students

Be open for opportunities! You will work closely with your advisor, and they often recommend classes and events they think you will enjoy and benefit from. Take those classes and go to those events. You will be happy you did. Still, don't be afraid to create your own opportunities as well, because you definitely have the chance to create the experience you want out of college here.

    In three sentences

The Corcoran is a place to grow with many more great opportunities at hand than most art schools. The professional (and incredibly nice) professors, the entire gallery of great art and the ridiculous amount of interesting, useful classes are three main reasons I feel sure that this school is the best choice for my intended career. However, the best thing about the Corcoran is that it is simply a big family of individuals who push you forward in the most encouraging ways to make sure you reach and surpass your goals.

    Campus Safety

Its DC, there's bound to be weirdos around, but its in a nice area.

    Bang for the buck

For an art college it runs quite a bit cheaper than average.

    Food and Dining

We didn't see a cafeteria or dining hall. I'm not sure if they even have one.

    Dorm Life

??? We didn't get to see the dorms because they are 7 blocks from the campus.

    Tips for prospective students

If your looking for a small art college, then you'll be right at home here.

    In three sentences

Its small, all of the art facilities including the library and admissions are in one building. It's right in the heart of DC, and the admissions counselors were VERY nice and welcoming.

    Campus Safety

Corcoran's main gallery and school are located one block from the White House. We have some of the best school security you could ask for but we are also surrounded by Secret Service. I feel safe no matter what is happening in the District. The student buildings are also only accessed through badges with security bar codes including the Georgetown building. If a visitor comes onto campus, they must sign in and show I.D. Definitely a safe campus.

    Greek Life

There are no sororities or fraternities on campus.

    Clubs and Activities

There are basic student governments, ceramics, and painting clubs

Great for these types of students

Corcoran is great for students that are true artists whether you know it yet or not. If you have been accepted, please come. All are welcome. We are all here to help each other advance, not just in our art careers but also in life.

Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus

There is a free bench that is located in the main building outside of the Registrars office. Students and staff will place items from their lockers or homes that have taken up space. No one wants to throw anything away if someone else could use it. Sometimes its old brushes or even an old pair of jeans. You never know what could be found on the free bench.

    Bang for the buck

Starbucks may be everywhere and some say they are taking over the world but coffee is a staple of every college students life. The Georgetown campus has one right in front and that has become a godsend.

    What to do for fun

I personally love to go to galleries and museums. I grew up in Maryland and had great opportunities to come into D.C. to see the new shows and openings but things are always changing. There is always something to go see and so many things are free. There are plenty of shows, galleries, and parties that are free to everyone. Festivals are held throughout the year, not just during the summer. They are great fun for all ages.

    Food and Dining

Everything in Washington D.C. is fairly expensive unless you know where to go and who to go with. Listen to upper classmen on where to find the best coffee, of which you will need plenty, the best sandwiches and subs, and where to find a good drink, for those that are old enough to drink. Gift Cards are great as gifts for your 4 years of college no matter where you go.

    Dorm Life

I live in Maryland and commute to school using the public transportation.

    Academic Rigor

The staff expect a lot from us but we did get into a private art school so they should. The instructors are fair but strict. Critiques are very important to an artist's career and the Corcoran takes them very seriously.

    Tips for prospective students

Be prepared to live in a large city if you are going to live in student housing. Visit the school ahead of time, if you can, and learn a little about the public transportation, i.e. Metro and MetroBus. There are so many different museums and galleries that you will never be able to see them all in one year.

    In three sentences

Corcoran has been an uplifting change in my life. The student and staff come from so many different worlds and yet we are like a small family. I would not change my decision to come to The Corcoran for anything.
