Great for these types of students

I would say CU is a great place for students who are driven to succeed, enjoy learning, and like getting to know others. Also for students who enjoy a smaller campus and class sizes, but don't mind the big city. CU has a reputation for it's great pre-health professions, so if you have an interest in that I would strongly recommend!

    Tips for prospective students

First of all, I would strongly suggest touring the campus. It really gives you a feel for what goes on there and the types of people you'll be interacting with. Also turn in all of your paperwork ahead of time. The admissions crew will be thankful, and you'll feel less stressed out. When on campus, get involved in as much as possible! I met so many people that way and even if you are shy, there are plenty of opportunities for everyone. Also keep up on getting help. If you feel like you are having problems with a class, don't just give up. Professors and on-campus tutors are always available. Lastly, get to know the people on your floor. It will make the transition to college easier and you'll make friends a lot quicker.

    Bang for the buck

Although the undergraduate tuition is daunting, you really do get a lot for your money. Creighton is constantly expanding and updating the campus. There is free WiFi pretty much anywhere and the addition of the new sports center being built is fantastic. The dorms are also nice in comparison to some other campuses I've visited around the nation. The tuition also goes towards all of the activities CU puts on, and trust me there are a lot! There always seems like there's something to do or see and CU really values it's students opinions, so the activites are always something new and different. If you are still worried about tuition, apply for some scholarships. CU offers a multitude for all different types of students, and they are all easily accessible at the CU website.

    Am learning a lot

CU is a place which challenges a student academically, but still allows you to have a lot of fun! When I first started college, I was extremely nervous, but Creighton really made me feel at home. It gives off an air of community, and everyone here really tries to make the first year as easy as possible. Also the professors really care about how you are doing in school, and there is tons of help available if you feel like you are stuggling. Creighton is a place which strives for achievement, so come prepared to work, but in the end you get a great education and are fully prepared when leaving college.

Great for these types of students

Every student will find something appealing at Creighton University and in Omaha, Nebraska.

    Tips for prospective students

If you are looking for a great-quality school in a homely city, then consider applying at Creighton University. Established as a Jesuit center of learning in 1878 in Omaha, Nebraska, the institution has done so much for its students. Not only does Creighton offer a great variety of liberal arts as well as pre-professional and professional classes, which are taught by the professors and not the teaching assistants, but it works very hard to provide an education that is as affordable as is possible. For example, because of this year's recession, the tuition is increasing by the smallest factor ever (almost all colleges raise the tuition yearly), and this fall has enrolled the most freshman that has ever been there. So, for those of you who find Creighton University appealing, get all the information you can about the school. Then, come visit the campus to step into the shoes of its students as they enjoy their college life mentally, physically, and spiritually.

Great for these types of students

I would say that CU is a great place for any type of student! There are so many activities, majors, groups, etc. that anyone could find a place here in the CU family!

    Tips for prospective students

Going to class is very important, also stay organized and don't fall behind! But feel free to ask as many questions as you need!!

    Bang for the buck

Its definitely a costly college, but CU does its best to help out families. They have many options as well as scholarships. To keep it short, if you want to attend, and cost is the obstacle, they'll definitely find a way to help you out!

    Am enjoying being here

CU is definitely a fun place to be! Everyone around is enjoyable and welcoming! Even older students are willing to help the new recruits! Fun, safe, and clean campus!

    Am learning a lot

There is definitely loads to learn while attending CU. Many of the professors keep class moving relatively fast so its very important to stay organized and not to trail behind! The professors are very nice and helpful, feel comfortable asking as many questions as needed!

    Am enjoying being here

There is always something fun to do! Whether its during the day, night, weekends, or holidays! The campus looks beautiful with the lights up during the winter and the Christmas light ceremony is really fun with good food! There are Wednesday After Class events where you make cookies, make crafts, and other fun stuff! Not to mention are awesome concerts we have twice a year! This year we had Jacks Mannequin playing for the Fallzapalooza concert!

    Am learning a lot

Creighton challenges each student academically. It requires each student to study hard and make a great effort. At the same time there are many great resources for students. Each professor is willing to always make an appointment and make sure you understand the fundamentals of the course. Due to the smaller private student population, it feels as if the professors are more approachable.

Great for these types of students

Creighton University is great for the type of student that likes to do service projects and help people, for the student that wants a challenge, and for the student that wants to have fun while working hard!

    Tips for prospective students

I suggest taking as many college courses in high school that you can! Most high schools will pay for that which will take a great burden off of you and your parent's wallets! Also, DO YOUR HOMEWORK! You will be amazed how much easier a class becomes and how much more you understand the material when you simply do the homework! Also, if you are stuck on a problem or you don't understand a lesson go in and talk with the professor. That is what they are there for, and most are more than willing to take the time it takes for you to be able to understand the material. They want to see you succeed.

    Bang for the buck

I will admit, Creighton is EXPENSIVE! I was almost going to not be able to attend CU because of the price, but I talked with the admissions people and we worked it out so that I could come here! And, boy am I glad that I did get the chance to come here. Yes, Creighton is expensive, but it is soo worth every penny. The teachers, the students, and the lifelong friends that are made because of coming here make it all worth the money that I am paying to attend. I know that if I had attended the cheaper state school that I was going to attend, I would not have received as good of an education that I am receiving here.

    Am enjoying being here

I made lifelong friends right from the start! They are all so fun and amazing friends. They make being here at CU very enjoyable and fun. There is always something going on in the halls of the dorms. CU also has a lot of activities throughout the week and especially on the weekend. I have found myself homesick some, but getting involved in the MANY activities and events that Creighton offers definitely helps keep my mind off of being homesick and focus on enjoying my time here at college.

    Am learning a lot

I am learning a lot at Creighton University, and I am having fun while doing it! The professors are wonderful. They know their stuff, and they make class very enjoyable. The classes are challenging, but it is all worth the hard work that I have to put in.

Great for these types of students

Having such a service oriented background has led me to become aware of a world of multi-cultures. Serving so many different people with different needs and perspectives has given me increased personal insight to each culture. My service experiences have humbled me while stimulating considerable personal growth. I am truly thankful for the place where I am now. Consequently, I have changed my opinion regarding how I view resources and how I resolve what I deem “what I deserve” from the world. Throughout this journey, my center of gravity is most certainly expanded to those outside my innermost circle to include those who I may not know on a personal level. In addition to having an education that serves, my experiences have instilled a sense of urgency to rectify the living conditions of those I serve and those who are often disenfranchised by society. Ultimately, committing my life to service has created a faithful, fervent servant and heightened consciousness of myself and those around me to be virtuous stewards of The Lord’s Creation.

    Tips for prospective students

Become who you are faster. My service to others has been the most enriching experience of my personal growth outside the classroom. I think the most instrumental action in this process was applying what I learned in the classroom and bringing it to the Center for Service and Justice Office. I am a Justice and Society major and have considered my vocation to be working for Justice and Peace in whatever way I can be most effective. I believe the Center for Service and Justice could bring their mission to a larger audience by encouraging other students to transcend their current selves and become active in social justice issues.

    Bang for the buck

Being at a Jesuit Institution gives me the skills to awaken the other sides of “self.” This awakening gives me the ability to critique the society which surrounds me. The emphasis on my degree is no longer on material gain for myself. I realize that that rationale stems from an assumption that money can buy all the satisfaction I require. My education has taught me just the opposite. It has stimulated an other-oriented me. When I help others, I experience liberation from the customary preoccupation with “self.” It also allows me to expand my focus beyond viewing my success as a victory for my tribe, my family, my community or my ancestors, but as an triumph to all of those who are underrepresented, misrepresented and in search for truth. Consequently, I have grown to appreciate other faiths, while being more affirmed in my own. A Jesuit education, in its purest form, is an active force that participates in the world, but does not assimilate to it. The schools that bear the name work extraneously to hasten the coming of Christ. While awaiting His return, these institutions attempt to ease the discomfort of those who suffer here on Earth. In doing so the language of justice has rested on the tongue of the student. This is most profoundly true for me. Not having a private or religious affiliated academic background prior to attending Creighton, I have grown to appreciate being able to see God in my studies. Finally, having a Jesuit education has prompted a sense of responsibility and social awareness in me. I have been able to recognize the things most important in life are those Ad majorem Dei gloriam, for the greater Glory of God.

    Am enjoying being here

Ethnic and personality diversity is a huge issue on campus. The campus can become very cookie-cutter and can seem very homogeneous, but the curriculum works to open one's mind. This eventually creates a situation where the individual is strong enough to break away from the mainstream culture. In addition, the gender inequality between males and females impacts interaction dramatically. CU has more girls than boys, so the ladies can be a bit territorial.

    Am learning a lot

I have never worked so hard in my life. The process has so much stress, but it is the progress the feels the best.

Great for these types of students

Out of state students looking for a worthwhile college experience, while also feeling at home away from home. Students looking for a medium sized, close-knit community.

    Tips for prospective students

Get in touch with your representative. Send him/her an email to just let him/her you're interested for more information. They'll be happy to help you out in any way possible!

    Bang for the buck

Although tuition is a little high, I feel that it will definitely be worth it. They are constantly adjusting to the students' need and comfort, while making the learning environment exciting.

    Will enjoy being here

The people I've met from the Creighton community have really shown that they care and that even though Nebraska may seem like its in the middle of nowhere, Omaha is a great city filled with things to do for every kind of person.

    Will learn a lot

I feel that with the information I've gathered and with friend, student and faculty opinions on Creighton, it is a university that one will learn much from.

    What to do for fun

There's a lot to do in Omaha. The campus is located near the brand new baseball field and within walking distance to the Quest Center which offers big name music acts at a reasonable price. The old market is a really neat area with casual and fine dining and many unique shopping opportunities.

    Food and Dining

The food is great and many options are available. The campus is located near the north downtown development which is all brand new. There are many dining options within walking distance.

    Dorm Life

    I live off campus.

    Academic Rigor

Creighton will test you in many ways. They have a top notch curriculum and the course material is always cutting edge and challenging. Your peers will all be intelligent and competent students which fosters a competitive and collaborative learning environment.

    Tips for prospective students

Be prepared to work hard. It is important to get into a routine and spend a little time working on each task daily. It can get really stressful putting things off to the last minute and often the quality of work suffers as well. The faculty is there to help you in every way they can so take advantage of their willingness to be available.

    In three sentences

Creighton is a first rate university. The campus is very nice and accessible. The faculty and staff are all friendly and helpful.

    Campus Safety

Public Safety is very fast and there are call boxes all around campus. They are one phone call away. Campus is small enough and surrounded facilities that safety is important but crime rate is very low to none.

    Greek Life

There are many Fraternities and Sororities all of which freshman can join in the Spring of their first year during rush week. Many activities like bowling pizza and community service are all qualities of most of the Greek life at Creighton.

    Clubs and Activities

There are tons of clubs and activities to join at the club fair in the fall and if you miss that, joining is a click away when the weekly newsletter is sent. Every type of person has an activity they can be in and that includes Intramural Sport. Many IM sports are played and tons of kids have free time to play.

Great for these types of students

This school is great for smart, self motivated, humble kids who want to go further than the normal college education but have the full college experience as well.

Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus

All the freshmen have Welcome Week where there are dances and social events to get to know people. There is the notorious Foam Party every year where they have a foam machine that fills a patio with foam and you and your friends have to try and stick together.

    Bang for the buck

The school is very expensive but every penny of that is paying for an education that can't be attained anywhere else. You get into all sporting events free and you even get dicounts through the school on books, apple gear, and other activites like concerts, FREE!! If you are interested in studying abroad as well your scholarships can transfer over to the school you will be studying to abroad.

    What to do for fun

Attending athletic events is a great way to stay in loop at Creighton. Having at least 3, sometimes more, Missouri Valley Conference Championship teams at Creighton its always fun seeing Creighton dominate other teams. There are concerts either on campus or close to campus and there are also attractions such as the Omaha Zoo, The Art Museum, and downtown. Downtown is called Old Market and there are tons of restaurants and shops to choose from for a night full of fun.

    Food and Dining

There are two main dining halls and depending on what dorm you are in you have three meals close to where you live. Once you get bored of the meals in one hall there is always another and different choices to choose from. There are many options for vegetarians and normal eaters and it changes every day.

    Dorm Life

As like any dorm system at any university you will be paired at random with a roommate. I was paired with another Cross Country kid and it goes great. We are on the same schedule and we get to hang out a lot. Other non-athletic dorm rooms would have a random partner and you get to meet them very quickly. The dorms plan activities for everyone so you get to know your floor more. There are neutral zones where many people hang out and do homework, play fuse ball, or mingle with the other floors. The halls are nice and the rooms are not bad small but they bigger with seniority. Overall it is pretty good its mainly what you make of it.

    Academic Rigor

Creighton is a school where its never to early to study hard and be challenged by the rigorous courses. Of course as the years go by and you get further into your degree the more work must be shown to have success at Creighton. The teachers are always available to talk and they want to make you be the best you can. Compared to many other schools I believe that Creighton gives you a better general education so the success rate is higher in specialty classes therefore the job opportunities and internships are higher because of the high academic rigor started when a freshmen.

    Tips for prospective students

Prospective students need to know that Creighton holds a high standard to all of their students. If you want to have a high quality education where students strive to get involved, be the best, show school spirit at Basketball and Soccer games, and study hard then Creighton is the school for you. Come take a visit because even though Creighton looks great in stats and on paper, it looks even better walking down the main street watching the leaves turn colors in the Autumn sun, seeing all the lights lit up around Christmas time, or that first snowfall where it looks like a Winter Wonderland.

    In three sentences

Creighton is by far the best fit for me and any other prospective students looking for a high quality education respected by many. The small class size enables students to get to know their professors and have that personal relationship with them. The amount of respect communities, in Nebraska and across the nation, give to Creighton students is outstanding because they know that only the motivated optimistic students of America go to Creighton University.

Great for these types of students

This school is great for the type of students interested in the medical field. CU has core classes that helps the students to get a better education and prepare for the medical field. CU is also great for the type of students seeking a better education. It may be challenging but helps the students learn more.

    Tips for prospective students

I say be ready to go the library a lot to study for all your classes. Although it may be challenging it could be fun studying with your friends. Don't worry about making new friends because it is easy to get to know others. CU has a lot of clubs and it is small where you can get to know everyone. Also, CU has a welcome week for the first week where they set up parties and a lot of activities for one to get to know others. I know I met a lot of new people during the welcome week that I still hang out with today. It was a lot of fun because the upperclassmen are also willing to help you get acquainted with the campus and the scheduling. Don't be afraid to ask for help if you can't find a class; anyone would help.

    Bang for the buck

I feel that it is worth the money because it is a lot of fun and it is challenging. The professors are really nice and there for you to help you learn. Due to the small class sizes, the professors are able to get to know the students and help them. I really think this is what makes this school worth it because unlike the bigger schools, the professors are able to get to know the students to help them understand better. This also helps because the professors will be able to write better letters of recommendations for you. The core classes that everyone has to take really helps the students to be well rounded and helps to find what they are interested in.

    Am enjoying being here

Being from Hawaii and going to a school where I do not have family, it is hard on the breaks because everyone goes home. Even though CU may be far from my home, I'm enjoying myself and am able to keep myself occupied for four months before I can return home. CU is a fun school where its small size helps the students to get to know one another. They also set up a few concerts and other activities to do throughout the year. One time they had a BINGO night during finals week, which was a fun way to relieve some stress. They even provide free coffee and cookies during finals weeks for the students. CU is fun where everyone is nice and friendly.

    Am learning a lot

CU is a great university where the professors really care about their students. They are always there for the students and will help in any way possible. They would take time out of their weekends to even come to school to help the students for the midterms and finals. Teachers teach the courses, not TAs. The teachers like to challenge the students so that they may learn and get a better education.

Great for these types of students

Creighton is great for students who want to go on to professional school. The University is also great for students who like to study, but also have fun. Creighton is a hard university, but if you study regularly and get help when you need it you will do fine!!

    Tips for prospective students

One tip is to go to every class. Do not skip class because the professors will notice. Another tip is to go to your professor when you need help because they want you to succeed. The best time to see your professor is just before a test because they can help you review the most important information and make you feel confident before going into the test period. Another tip is to make sure that you use your time wisely and make sure to stay on top of your homework and reading assignments so that you are not staying up until 3 in the morning the night before the assignment is due. Also if you start to feel home sick or overly stressed go see a counselor on campus because it is free to every student!!

    Bang for the buck

Creighton is very expensive, but they do give scholarships for students who deserve them. Creighton is more than an in-state university, however, it is cheaper than many other private universities. Freshman year is typically the most expensive because you do not receive as much money in scholarships. However, after freshman year there are many more scholarship opportunities to gain scholarships from Creighton. My parents and I do not have a lot of money, however for the education I am receiving is well worth it.

    Am enjoying being here

Creighton is a lot of fun. Campus is great because there is constantly something going on. Some things that you can do are go to soccer games, baseball games, basketball games, and softball games. Home soccer games, girls basketball games, baseball games, and softball games are all on campus. The men's basketball games are at the Qwest Center which is close to campus and there are shuttles that will take students from campus to the game. All for FREE!! Every student can get into home games for free with their student ID. I also love that they wait until spring semester to do Rush.

    Am learning a lot

Creighton is a hard University if you don't study regularly, but it is well worth the effort. The core can seem daunting and you might believe that you will never get it done, but it does make you a very rounded person. There are a ton of classes available with great professors. The classroom sizes are smaller than any state school. There are usually around 25-30 students in small classrooms and during large groups the classroom size can get up to 50 students, but that is way smaller than a state school which has 100 students as its smallest class size. The smaller class size makes it way easier to learn a lot and to ask professors questions.

Great for these types of students

Creighton University is great for students would are goal and career minded. They are outgoing and looking to make an impact on the world. Also, students who are looking to attend some sort of professional school. Creighton has a great reputation that its' name carries. It also gives a well-rounded education that most schools are looking for. If you are able to study but also have fun, Creighton is the school for you!

    Tips for prospective students

Taking a campus tour is the most important thing a prospective student can do. Touring allows students to really see life on campus, and see an example classroom puts everything into perspective. Also, taking college classes in high school, but you need to make sure they are able to transfer into Creighton. This cuts down cost as well as time that you have to be in college. Next, is getting involved on campus. This is a great time to network and meet people. Also, this gives you opportunities such as jobs, service projects, and research. Last, go to class. Students who attend class are able to retain information as well as receive information from professors about test, projects, and assignments that students who don't go to class will not receive.

    Bang for the buck

Creighton University's tuition with room and board is around $40,000. This sounds outrageous, which I agree, but our professors make the difference. I meet with everyone of my professors at least once, then they know my name. The Financial Aid office is also able to help students who are in need of aid to attend the university. Taking classes in the summer or before college is a huge help in cutting down the cost. 90% of the campus is on some sort of financial aid, and other outside scholarships are extremely helpful.

    Am enjoying being here

Omaha is a great city to live in, and Creighton University is in the heart. Downtown is in walking distance, and there are plenty of activities to do on campus! We have whats called the mall it is just a place for students to congregate. On the mall people are able to set up tables, speakers, and have food for all students to enjoy. There are always people around campus, which makes the campus lively!

    Am learning a lot

Creighton is known for their academics nation wide! I learned more in one semester than my entire high school career. Being in Omaha, and at a national ranked university opens many doors for students to learn not only school work but also life lessons. Professors are also available to chat about classes, or just life, and that is where I do most of my learning. Classrooms are relatively small, which also enhances learning abilities. Asking questions is a must! This also allows the professor to get to know you better.

Great for these types of students

Creighton has all types of students in its attendance, but it works really well for organized and independent learners. Though Creighton provides a lot of help for your classes and dorm life, being organized here makes everything easier.

    Tips for prospective students

It only took one step onto Creighton's campus to do it for me: I was going there. Look for that comfort feeling when touring schools, but don't focus too hard on it. Creighton is comfortable- so look for those comfortable places! Tour every building you can to experience all that Creighton has to offer. Looking at your entire future campus is the best way to get to know it. This helped me really get in touch with my future school!

    Bang for the buck

Yes, the tuition may seem like a lot of money. However, once you get settled in, you will see why the money is worth it. The campus is beautiful, and it provides a comfortable feeling to all those in attendance. Besides an education and great environment for your money, you get to go to Creighton sporting events without charge, go to many free events, be in inexpensive extracurricular activities, and have free shuttles around the whole campus provided for you. You also get great places to live, as all of the dorms are very nice.

    Am enjoying being here

Though I am enjoying the summer break from school, I cannot wait to return to Creighton. This is how I know I love it. Everyday provides a new experience and new opportunities. The campus is FULL of extracurricular activities and ways to get involved. It is so easy to meet new people everywhere you go: the dining halls, classes, school events, the dorms, sporting events, etc, but there are not so many people that it becomes crowded. The size of the school is perfect because it is not too small but also does not have too many students. You can feel comfortable while also seeing new faces everyday. Another reason I love being here is the amount of facilities to study and hang out in. You can find places to be comfortable no matter what your plans are; you don't have to just hang out in your dorm room.

    Am learning a lot

Your college education is one of the most important investments you will make, so the focus on the education is the most important part. After two semesters here, I couldn't believe how much the professors fit into a one semester class. Going through a whole textbook in this time is challenging, but each professor accomplishes this task while making sure each student soaks in all the information. Each professor takes time to tell each student the best way to study for their specific class, increasing your opportunity to learn. College classes can be a big change from high school classes, but Creighton professors make the transitions into their classes simple, while also providing enough challenge to stay alert.

Great for these types of students

Hard working students who are dedicated to expanding their knowledge and willing to work hard and go the extra mile to get good grades are perfect for Creighton.

    Tips for prospective students

Take the ACT test towards the end of your Junior Year. Also make sure you study for it. Apply earlier than December to reduce the stress of getting things in before the deadlines. Go to CU Sundays, and also make a personal college visit so that you can get all of your questions answered by the professors in the field of study you want to go into.

    Bang for the buck

Creighton is expensive. The tuition might be enough to scare you from applying, but i suggest you do. It is completely worth the money. They will set you up with a job when you graduate or help you get into graduate school. They will prepare you for life after college too. There are also tons of merit scholarships you can apply for to help reduce the cost of tuition that Creighton offers.

    Will enjoy being here

Omaha is a great place to live. It is one of the safest bigger cities in the United States. There is plenty to do there. They have clubs, malls, tons of restaurants. The Henry Doorly Zoo is in Omaha. It is one of the best zoos in America. Omaha is also the home of the College World Series for baseball. They just built the TD Ameritrade Park this past year. Creighton itself has plenty of things going on on campus. If you get involved in one of the many extracurricular activities that Creighton has to offer, you will never be bored. Creighton is a smaller campus, with fewer students, so you should be able to get to know people easily.

    Will learn a lot

Creighton has a lot of classes to choose from. They are a very good school. They will help you get jobs when you graduate, or help you get into their graduate school programs. If you have a high enough GPA when you graduate after 4 years, they will guarantee you an interview to get into the graduate school program of your choice. They also have plenty of research opportunities that will give you an edge when applying for jobs later on.

    Campus Safety

it is in a semi-bad part of town, but you don't feel it on campus. campus security has emergency buttons everywhere on campus to protect you, and i've never felt not secure. (many people don't lock there doors, it's so hard to get into a building at night if you do not live on campus anyway.)

    Greek Life

no houses for sororities except one. the frats have a few houses. most people on campus are involved some way, but it is not unusual to have friends outside of your greek life as well.

    Clubs and Activities

so much to choose from, but not enough just for fun clubs in my opinion... you could always start your own.

Great for these types of students

work hard, play hard/ anyone :)

    Bang for the buck

very good reputation and many scholarships available. many grad schools/employers like to see creighton university on a resume so i hear.

    What to do for fun

explore omaha, play laser tag/bowl/ice skate/movies, go out to eat, hang in the dorms, or go to the frats... just your regular college stuff

    Food and Dining

2.5 stars really. it's half-way--not disgusting but doesn't cause cravings. it is good at first but gets old. if only the dining halls were open longer, but we have late-night meal exchange and the cookies, pizza, etc. is delicious.

    Dorm Life

the dorms are small and not particularly nice and updated. the bathrooms are communal. basically they are typical freshmen dorms. however, brand new upperclassmen dorms were just built and are really nice.

    Academic Rigor

depending on your major. i hear history is rough as is chemistry, but this is all on an individual basis. this all depends on the teacher as well. don't let creighton's reputation for being too hard fool you, if you are willing to try a little, your grades will be fine.

    Tips for prospective students

make sure that you go to class.. participation (a.k.a. showing up to class) is important here so don't take an early class if you know you don't want to get up.

    In three sentences

creighton is a small and tight-knit school that has high moral standards for all of the students. the professors are more than willing to work extended hours to help everyone, and the class attendance is very high (in my experience). the social life is fun, the food is decent, and the friends last a lifetime!

creighton has many social events. there is a vast amount of clubs and organizations to join. it is also in the heart of downtown omaha, so there is always something going on off campus.

    Food and Dining

the food isn't the best, but what do you expect from a college campus. there are two dinning halls and multiple other options. there is a variety of things to choose from.

    Dorm Life

the dorm life is is average. there is usually something going on and it feels like a little family within the dorms.

creighton is a school dedicated to academics. classes are hard and teachers make you work to get an a. you will really learn something by attending here.

    Campus Safety

Public Safety is present, nothing too bad happens directly on campus, but some of the surrounding areas aren't the greatest.

    Greek Life

An amazing experience. Not your typical state school style sorority and fraternity life, but it's unique in it's own ways. Includes a significant amount of the campus population, but you're not excluded if you don't go greek.

SO many ways to get involved in almost anything you want. Amazing amounts of opportunities.

Great for these types of students

    Dorm Life

Enjoyable. Rooms can be bigger than the typical freshman dorm, depending on where you live. Good activities and community atmosphere.

    Campus Safety

Creighton is located in the heart of downtown Omaha, and being in the city it can be a bit sketchy. I can truly say though that I have never felt unsafe on campus or in the area surrounding the campus. Public Safety does a fantastic job of keeping the students safe.

    Greek Life

Greek life is small on the campus but it's a great community to get involved in. The greeks make up the majority of the group of kids who go out more often. It really gives your college experience something extra special.

Great for these types of students

Creighton is the perfect place for kids who are smart and care about their academics, and yet have a thirst for fun and adventure. Academics is definitely the main focus of the school, this isn't by any means a party school. But the students here live by the saying work hard, play hard. It is a small school, and within a year you'll recognize almost every face on campus, and know about half of them. Sounds a little too cramped, but it's actually one of the best things about Creighton. Really makes it feel like home and a community of people you know and trust.

Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus

Every year their is a lighting ceremony when the president of the university gives a speech and the mall is lit up for the first time in the fall with hundreds of Christmas lights. The ceremony is followed by a large banquet, with the best food you'll get all year. I have heard the ceremony compared to the ceremony at Hogwarts in Harry Potter, it is quite the affair! St. John's, the Chapel on campus is breath taking and just about every other weekend there is a wedding held there, and all of the female students stop in their tracks to watch the bride on the steps.

    Bang for the buck

Creighton is a private university and is on the pricey side. Fortunately, Creighton is one of the best private school I have ever heard of for giving scholarships and money to their students. They like to take care of their own even after you graduate. Once you find your groove at Creighton, you'll fall in love with the school and the university is one of the most prestigious in the midwest. It's definitely worth it.

    What to do for fun

Downtown Omaha isn't anything to write home about, but you can definitely always find fun things to do. The city isn't huge so if feels safer and it's within walking distance from campus! Omaha is huge on music so if you like to attend concerts, you're in luck. Every genre of music, from famous to practically unheard of bands, can be found in Omaha, and usually less than a ten minute drive from school. You won't ever be bored, there is always an adventure to be found.

    Food and Dining

I'm not going to lie, the food at Creighton is far from fabulous. Recently renovated dining halls made a large improvement from the previous year, but no one ever is really ecstatic to eat there. If you're worried about the freshman fifteen you will need to be extra careful with your choices in the dining halls. Everything tends to be on the fattier side, but this is the midwest. Its not the best, but lets just say no one has ever transferred to get away from the food. This is college, what can you expect? :)

    Dorm Life

Dorm Life is great at Creighton. Students are required to live on campus for the first two years, which sounds like a bummer, but it works out for the best. The dorms are clean, a fair size, and almost every room has a sink in it, if not already attached to a bathroom. Dorm life is what makes college college and Creighton does a great job of making that experience easy and fun. My only complaint would be that students have to check in visitors (even from other dorms on campus) after 7 pm- but its just something you get used to.

    Academic Rigor

Academic Rigor truly depend on one's major. Overall, the acedemic rigor is fierce. You need to prepare yourself for college level classes and exams, because high school study habits won't cut it here. Luckily, the school has many free tutoring options and the professors are always more than happy to help their students, you just can't be afraid to ask.

    Tips for prospective students

Of Creighton recruits students, but if you really want to impress them, take action first. Write an email to your state scout asking them any questions you may have about the school or application, tell them a little about yourself, and ask what else you can do to get a competitive edge. Creighton loves to see students who know how to take action for what they want.

    In three sentences

Creighton University is less of a large daunting university and more like a small community. Creighton actually cares about its students and will do anything they can to help them succeed. It is a great school, not just because of the academics, but because of the people and professors who make it worthwhile.

    Campus Safety

Because the campus is in downtown Omaha it can seem scary at night, but it is completely safe. Campus Security is on watch 24/7 through cameras and some of the guards who continuously drive around the campus. If there is an emergency near campus that might put students at risk, Campus Security sends out alerts by phone, text, and email. Also the parking garages are only open to Creighton staff and students who have Creighton ID cards. Just as the IDs allow access into the garages, they do the same in the dorms. Any time someone goes in they have to swipe. If the are not students they are checked in and monitored until they leave. Also there is a desk worker on duty 24/7 and an RA on every floor so there is always someone to assist you in case of emergencies. For weather emergencies such as Tornadoes, there is an equipped basement in every building on campus. Nothing very major has ever happened on campus, and even if it did, Campus Security controls it in a very organized manner to ensure the safety of all students and staff.

    Greek Life

Most of the students at Creighton are involved in Greek Life. Some love it and some decide later that it's not really for them. A lot of people enjoy only rushing because it is a big social event. Not all of the Sororities and Fraternities have houses because of certain laws in Nebraska that prohibit it, but that doesn't keep them from bonding and having a great experience.

    Clubs and Activities

Just about every student at Creighton is involved in at least one club or activity. The clubs and activities found on campus are actually a big part of what makes the Creighton experience what it is. There is a wide variety of clubs and activities that involve your major, your heritage, or just your hobbies. There are also many clubs that involve ministry and service. The best part is that these clubs are not exclusive. For example, you can be from Kentucky and be in the Hawaiian club. Clubs are a great way to meet new people and have more than one friend group! If you want you can join ten clubs at the beginning of the semester and end it with two. That way you can find out exactly what interests you and what clubs your passionate about.

Great for these types of students

Creighton is a private Jesuit University, which basically means that it is faith, education, and service based. It does NOT mean that you have to be catholic, or even religious for that matter. Creighton does not require students to attend mass or be a part of student ministry. There are an assortment of students at Creighton ranging from agnostic to Muslim. Although most students do come from a Catholic background and have attended private high schools before, diversity is greatly respected and appreciated at Creighton. You will fit in as long as you are driven and open to all the possibilities that college life has to offer.

Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus

Creighton has a strong sense of diversity and there are an array of clubs that reflect students' heritage. The Hawaii Club puts on an annual luau where they hire a chef all the way from Hawaii to cook for the event. The Hula club also performs as the audience indulges in the delicious, native food. This event is not just campus wide. It's a really big deal. People from all over the city come, and sometimes parents will fly in to enjoy this momentous occasion.

    Bang for the buck

Creighton is pricey but it is so worth it in the end. Not only do get a great education while you're there, but you have tons of opportunities after you graduate. Campus resources provide assistance with job hunting and internships, and also help you with the application processes if you desire to continue your education at a graduate or professional school. Sometimes it is easy to become discouraged when you look at the cost of attendance, but Creighton offers a great deal of financial aid that you are automatically considered for when you apply for admission. If you still come out short then you can also apply for outside scholarships. It's possible to find the money for it, and if you give it a chance, you will see that the education and experience you gain at Creighton is definitely worth it.

    What to do for fun

A lot of people think Omaha = Cornfields = Nothing to do! This is not true at all. Creighton's campus lies at the heart of the city. Yes, sometimes you might find that your Friday is spent staying in and watching a movie but there is nothing wrong with some relaxation because, trust me, you'll need it! Only five minutes from the campus is the Old Market which is a fun place to walk around, or go to the boutiques, or even have a nice dinner. There are many activities to do on campus too. The Intermural sports allow anyone to be active with a team in tournaments on a weekly basis. Also the CSU Organization always puts on events to keep students having fun in a safe manner, such as the foam party or movies on the mall. The best way to find things to do at Creighton is to meet people and be willing to walk out of your room!

    Food and Dining

For being such a small campus Creighton offers a choice of where you can dine on campus. There are two main dining halls that are basically buffets, a food court, and a cafe. Creighton ID cards also have the JayBucks feature (much like a debit card) that you can use at restaurants off campus such as Subway, Red Mango, and Sam and Louie's Pizza. Also depending on the meal plan you chose, you receive a certain amount of Dining Dollars on your ID card. With Dining Dollars you can buy any food on campus whether in the dining halls or just the small convenience stores around campus.

    Dorm Life

For the first two years of attending Creighton, students are required to live on campus, unless circumstances allow different. Res Life is great! The dorms tend to improve by year. The freshmen dorms are smaller and older but it is easy to make the rooms more spacious with a little creativity and a mallet (to unloft the beds). A brand new Sophomore dorm was built in the center of campus and its a first choice for most students. As a Junior or Senior, students have the choice to live off campus in houses or apartments, or they can reside in the on-campus apartments which are beautiful.

    Academic Rigor

Creighton teachers like to challenge their students, but they also make success possible. Not only do the teachers themselves provide one-on-one tutoring, but Creighton offers many different resources to make success a possibility for everyone.

    Tips for prospective students

Acceptance to Creighton University is not just about test scores and GPA. The campus revolves around a desire to create well rounded students and if the admissions board can see that you already have that potential and drive, they will want you to be part of the community. So get out and volunteer and be involved in clubs and activities that show your interests and what makes you, you!

    In three sentences

Creighton University is a Jesuit college notable for its outstanding academics and great community. The entire teaching faculty provides endless means of assistance so that success is possible for every student. Also, the student population has a strong sense of togetherness and servitude because everyone is able find common ground on the sole drive to achieve their dreams.

    Campus Safety

There are cameras on top of buildings that can monitor a student's activity on the main pathway of campus. Public Safety is also very responsive and there is taxi service where there is the option to be escorted on campus.

    Greek Life

A good majority of students are in Greek Life(~50%). However, there are no Greek Houses on campus.

    Clubs and Activities

Too many! There is bound to be one for every type of student.

Great for these types of students

Students looking for a small school or is pursuing graduate education in Medicine, Dentistry, Pharmacy, Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Law, Business, or nursing. Also great for students wanting to

    Bang for the buck

Definitely Bang for the buck. Most people receive scholarships to cut down the cost or they receive a loan. There are also many programs the University puts on that is free for students.

    What to do for fun

The old market, parties, cheer on athletics.

    Food and Dining

Food can get boring at the dining hall but there are many other options for dinner that food does not get that boring.

    Dorm Life

Dorm Life is a great way to meet many people. Dorms for freshman and sophomores are good enough. Most students do not spend much time in their room.

    Academic Rigor

With the right professor you will do fine. Even with the more challenging professors they will help you out. There is always tutoring as well. A 3.0 in the Arts and Sciences should be manageable.

    Tips for prospective students

Apply early because Creighton accepts students on rolling admission meaning the earlier you apply, the higher the chance you have of getting in.

    In three sentences

A great school with great people. Small but big enough. Go Jays!

    Greek Life

It's not a heavily focused Greek Life campus but it does have some fraternities and sororities. Creighton does not have the abundance of sororities and fraternities that states schools have but within the Greek system a family is created.

    What to do for fun

Downtown Omaha is the place to be for fun! I like Rojas Mexican. The clubs are great too! Rojas has awesome food, drinks, atmosphere and staff! There is a lot to do in Downtown Omaha!

    Food and Dining

The Blue Jay Cafe is awesome! Their burgers and cheeseburgers are so tasty and pretty healthy! I love them. They're also very affordable. They come with fries and a drink and are made to your specs, in a timely manner. The little kiosks are cheap too and have healthy snacks, if that is what you like.

    Dorm Life

Dorm Life is cool! The facilities are pretty modern, warm in the winters and cool in the Omaha summers. They're clean, very well situated on campus and very affordable.

    Academic Rigor

The Academic Rigor is high. It is a great university, one of the best in the Midwest, and with that comes a highly rigorous curriculum. Study hard and you'll do fine. The professors are extremely knowledgeable, clear and patient. Communication is key! Talk to your professors and let them know exactly where you might have any troubles with the coursework. If you adopt this strategy, then you will definitely find your years at Creighton University to be extremely academically successful.

    Tips for prospective students

Prospective students should research all of the living options that Omaha provides. The dorms are great, but Downtown Omaha is a great place to live as well.

    In three sentences

Creighton University is an exciting place to be. It is somewhat conservative, but it is a very friendly organization and welcomes a diverse student body, considering their location in Omaha, NE. They are benevolent, approachable, employ a very knowledgeable staff, and provide a wide range of financial options for low-income students like me.

    Great social events.

    Clubs and Activities

There's a club for everyone and anyone and if not, you can start one.

Great for these types of students

    Anyone!

Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus

All freshman participate in the Blue March. That's always fun. Soccer is huge here.

    Bang for the buck

I think the price is ridiculous, but the financial aid department is fabulous, if you've got the grades you'll get the money.

    What to do for fun

Not only does Creighton have stuff to do basically every day and night, but Omaha is full of wonderful places and things to do!

    Food and Dining

Ehh, depends on the day but if it doesn't look good, don't eat it. Go to Skutt and grab something else.

    Dorm Life

Sooo much stuff do, and besides the occasional fire alarm, very relaxing.

    Academic Rigor

There are many professors here that go above and beyond their responsibilities for you, don't take it for granted or be disrespectful. Use ratemyprofessor.com when registering for classes so to avoid those horrible profs.

    Tips for prospective students

Be prepared that you cannot get an A in every class, college is not the same as high school. Creighton is an amazing school for personal and academic growth.

    In three sentences

A good school to go to if you are prepared to work your butt off right away. If you are pre-med, accept the fact that freshman year is intended to weed out those unqualified. Beautiful campus.

    Campus Safety

CU Public Safety is always around if you need them. They have shuttles and taxi service for after hours to ensure student safety. They handled a bomb threat, which turned out to be nothing, very well - not a normal occurrence at Creighton.

    Greek Life

Students aren't allowed to rush until second semester of their freshman year. Sororities and fraternities do have houses, but only for upperclassmen (as underclassmen are required to live in the dorms). There is partying, but not as much as most schools.

Great for these types of students

Nursing and Pre-Health Sciences students should really consider it. Creighton has great undergraduate Nursing, Biology and Chemistry programs. Its acceptance rates into Medical school are also very high. Creighton has an EMT program, a Medical School, a Dental School, a Pharmacy School, and OT and PT programs.

Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus

Creighton has the most statues per square footage of any college in the United States, and they just put a new one in. Some of them are weird, but most are interesting to look at.

    What to do for fun

Head to the Old Market and go shopping or to one of the many nice restaurants. Go to a BlueJay's game - Creighton has D1 NCAA sports including soccer, volleyball, baseball, and basketball. Head to the Henry Doorly Zoo - it is very nice. There are always on campus and off campus activities going on sponsored by various organizations.

    Food and Dining

The main dining hall, Brandeis, has a wide variety of food which is generally pretty good. It is buffet-style and you can get as much food as you want to eat. There are always cereal and sandwiches if you don't want their daily offerings. The student center has a wide variety of options which are good and available for meal exchange in the evenings (subs, Mediterranean food, Chinese food). For a change, JavaJays coffee shops has good offerings and Davis Diner has breakfast for dinner.

    Dorm Life

Living in dorms is required for freshmen and sophomores. The dorms are generally standard for a college. RA's are on every floor and are very helpful. All but one of the dorms are co-ed separated by floor. The check-in policy for students who don't live in the dorm after 7pm is annoying but still allows for students to have people over and have fun.

    Academic Rigor

Classes are varied, depending on the class and the professor, but all require work. Some of the CORE required courses are easier, but none are a breeze. It is annoying to have to take courses not related to your major, but they can be interesting and are really helpful if you haven't decided your major yet. Professors are knowledgeable and really try to help you do your best. The small class sizes are also very helpful - only a few classes ever have 100+ people in them, and the rest have generally 20-40 students. Classes are challenging, but not undo-able.

    Tips for prospective students

Apply early, and see what scholarships they offer you. Definitely tour the campus to see how nice it and the people are. Don't discount it because it's in Nebraska - Omaha has a lot to offer.

    In three sentences

A great Jesuit University with good scholarships. A very active campus with lots to do. Great academics, especially for business or pre-health majors!

    Campus Safety

Campus safety is awesome. They take a lot of measures to keep everyone safe.

    Bang for the buck

The initial price is pretty expensive, but Creighton does a great job of awarding aid. They also offer quite a few scholarships you can apply for after you are accepted. Also Creighton isn't just concerned about shoving random knowledge at you. They care about you as a person and want to educate you as a whole person (cura personalis).

    What to do for fun

There is a ton of fun stuff to do. One of the favorites is going to the doughnut stop. It is open between 10 pm - 9 am.

    Food and Dining

The food is really good. There are a ton of options, but there is no meal exchange on friday and saturday which kind of stinks.

    Dorm Life

For freshman dorms, they are pretty nice. Every dorm has a sink which is something you wouldn't think of to worry about, but it is so nice. You also build a community with your floor, and there is always stuff going on.

    Academic Rigor

Creighton is a university for smart people and high achievers. You will have so much more competition academically than you ever did in high school.

    Tips for prospective students

Definitely visit! You can look at as many colleges as you want, but the only way to really know where you're supposed to be is to visit.

    In three sentences

It feels like home when your here! Everyone is so fantastic.

    Campus Safety

Campus Safety is always around for everyone's protection. I've never felt, while being on campus, in danger. But they do advise that if you do see anything suspicious to contact their headquarters, especially when it's an emergency.

    Bang for the buck

Creighton is pretty expensive. But, they're really good on making sure that some things on campus are for a good price for anyone. Sometimes Creighton has stations on certain days to give out free stuff! (e.i., Mugs, cookies, Frisbees, etc.)

    What to do for fun

Obviously, there is a HUGE range of student activities that are available. You can find anything to do here. From intramural sports, to the History Club, and even an Art Club, there are so many possibilities of belonging to some organization/club. We also have Fraternities and Sororities.

    Food and Dining

Brandeis, a food hall, is the most popular for eating purposes. Jack & Eds, a coffee shop/grab and go place, is awesome to pick just a snack up or a small meal. The food is fresh everyday, and I haven't had a complaint while eating at Creighton.

    Dorm Life

I live in town - not in the dorms. But as I've been visiting friend's dorms, it seems like everything is not bad.

    Academic Rigor

I find, personally, that Creighton gives a good rigor to academics. Classes will not be easy - you have to put forth effort and actually do your work in order to succeed. But, professors are there to help you whenever you're in need. And there are also free tutors here to your use!

    Tips for prospective students

Have a good mind set to everything around you. Be open to the student life around you, and get involved! If you're already a hard worker, then Creighton is a perfect fit.

    In three sentences

Creighton University is a great journey for anyone. Its faculty, professors, administrators, and students are what make Creighton so amazing. Creighton wants you to succeed in school to find your dreams, and to help find who you are.

    Greek Life

30% of students are greek, we do not have official on campus housing for it so it gives it a different feel but I know there are many off-campus frat and sorority houses and they both have great philanthropies and events.

    Clubs and Activities

There's so much to get involved in: greek life, government, leadership opportunities, justice and peace organizations, service, athletics, and the arts.

Great for these types of students

It's great for hard working students who value education and appreciate the Jesuit values. If you don't want a huge state school or really small private school, this is the school for you.

Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus

We touch Billy the Bluejay's beak before soccer games. There are lots of statues on campus.

    Bang for the buck

It's definitely expensive but I got the most scholarship money from Creighton than any other college I applied to. Also, I'm in the college of business and 98% of students graduate with a job.

    What to do for fun

My friends and I watch movies and walk to Wal-greens quite frequently. There's also the sports events which are fun and there's always a tone of people there. If your part of a sorority or fraternity they have events frequently. There's a urban out fitters in walking distance as well as old market and a movie theater. There's more options if you know someone who has a car or if you have a car especially in winter.

    Food and Dining

I like the dining options here, we have Brandies, Becker, Skutt, Java Jay, Davis Diner. There's always something you'll like somewhere and there's the grab-n-go which is awesome. They have premium nights and getting blue bbq on game days. Sometimes some of the cooks are mean and sometimes it's too crowded but overall I'd say it's good.

    Dorm Life

I love Kiewit hall, its fun to hang out in and there are always people around. The neutral zones are comfortable and good for studying too. The showers are better on some floors than others. Obviously the rooms aren't huge but I find them to be a good space for myself.

    Academic Rigor

It depends on you major and how hard of classes you take. The core is pretty demanding but if you do all your work and seek out assistance you'll be fine.

    Tips for prospective students

Go to class and manage your time efficiently- here we call it study smarter not harder. Get involved as much as you can-it's a great way to meet new people.

    In three sentences

Creighton University has the perfect size: big enough so you don't know everyone and small enough that you run into people you know. It's a beautiful campus that is not so spread out and all of my teachers here are professors and not TAs. There are a lot of fun events and activities as well as great resume builders and more internships then there are students.

W.A.C.: Wednesday After Class! Every wednesday from about 12-2:30 they have music playing and generally food or some fun craft on the mall! It definitely helps get through wednesdays!

    What to do for fun

Blue Jay games!!! The school spirit is fantastic and getting into the excitement is so amazing!! But if you aren't into sporting events, there are a lot of program activities on the weekends that can keep you plenty busy and are lots of fun!

    Food and Dining

It's as good as any college food is going to be. Sometimes it feels repetitive, but there are quite a few different dining hall options for dinner so you can mix it up a little bit.

    Dorm Life

It is amazing!! All of the staff working in the dorms work so hard to make the halls feel like home and they are successful!! I have not been homesick once and a great deal of it has to do with the wonderful dorm life.

    Academic Rigor

It's not easy by any stretch of the matter, but the difficulty depends on your willingness to work. There are really great resources to help all students, however if they are struggling, as well as all the professors are definitely willing to help and want everyone to succeed.

    Tips for prospective students

Just come to Creighton, it's honestly the best decision I've ever made and you will never regret coming here. And try and live in Gallagher, it's the best hall there is.

    Dorm Life

    Campus Safety

Very safe campus with safety right across the street from the sophomore dorms. They are very active and alert and respond safely. Blueline emergency phones are available just about everywhere.

    Greek Life

There are quite a few sororities and fraternities, and they are very important at Creighton. Can't be considered until second semester of freshman year.

    Clubs and Activities

Plenty of clubs and activities. Intramurals are a big thing and a lot of fun. Different events are held here and there. Anyone can try out for theater plays.

Great for these types of students

Catholic, religious, preppy, friendly, drinker, jock, intelligent, doesn't need free time.

Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus

Rub Billy the Bluejay's beak for good luck.

    What to do for fun

Go to the Zoo (ranked number 2), attend campus events, go to a concert, go to the mall

    Food and Dining

There's a buffet, but it's easy to try everything and then get sick of it. Al lot of people I know will eat pizza constantly. It's sodexo, which is horrible if you ask me. Not gluten-free friendly, easy to gain weight.

    Dorm Life

Dorms are small and I live off-campus, but, from being in friend's, I can say that they are rather comfortable. Kiewit, for freshmen is the one to be in and it's co-ed. Deglemen is all-girls, but it does not seem as lively as kiewit. Rooms are suite style sophomore year.

    Academic Rigor

I like my teachers so far, except for one, but they are friendly and have time for you, generally, when you stop by their offices. Homework load is somewhat heavy. There are a lot of core requirements so it can be hard to take what you want to take. Good teacher:student ratio overall.

    Tips for prospective students

If you're open to learning about religion, go here (Three theology courses required and campus is dominantly Catholic). If you want to be able to interact with your teachers most of the time, go here. If you like to drink, you can come here (wet campus). The size is wonderful, takes 10-15 minutes to walk from end to end of campus. Parking isn't too great. You're required (unless off-campus with parents) to live in the dorms freshman and sophomore year. If you want a lively city with a lot to do, don't come here. There's the zoo, some museums, and the Centurylink Center. There are concerts, but most of it seems to be scream, country, or folk, or small alternative artists.

    In three sentences

It's a good sized jesuit school with good sized classes for more student-teacher interaction. Classes are generally divided into three times a week (mon, wed, fri) or two times (tues, thurs) as opposed to the once a week schedules. Students are not mean, but they are not all that nice.

Creighton serves many on campus activities during the week and weekends. Sports are a big part of Creighton community and many attend sporting events. In Omaha there are many things to do, you just have to look to find something that you many enjoy in the Omaha area.

    Food and Dining

The dining at Creighton is not excellent, but edible. You can always find something to eat at the two main dining halls: Brandeis and Becker. Creighton has meal exchange where you can use in a few other locations on campus to get a delicious treat when you want something besides dorm food.

    Dorm Life

Creighton University dorm life is small, but very fun. There are eight dorms on campus, which house two junior and senior housing, four sophomore housing, and three freshman dorms. These dorms are nice and give you the right amount of space when starting out at Creighton.

    Academic Rigor

Creighton University offers a challenging academic rigor. At Creighton your education is challenging and well-worth the penny you pay. Creighton professors are the best at finding time to meet with you and help if you have any questions on an assignment or lecture.

    Campus Safety

I have never felt unsafe on campus. I don't even feel uncomfortable crossing campus at 12:30 in the morning.

    Greek Life

Extremely active. Most popular way of getting involved.

    Bang for the buck

It isn't worth your money unless you live in the area or you're pre-Med/Nursing and working towards a science degree.

    Food and Dining

There are almost no healthy options and the food available on campus is extremely low quality. It is very difficult for a vegan or vegetarian to get a well-rounded, healthy diet.

    Dorm Life

Activities are sponsored in freshman dorms to help you get to know your dormmates. Every floor varies in how often they socialize with each other, and there isn't a lot of floor-floor interaction.

    Academic Rigor

Classes are challenging and professors have high expectations, but there are several opportunities for outside academic help like tutoring and a writing center.

    Tips for prospective students

Get as much college credit as you can before you enter Creighton, especially if you are pre-Med. You will have so many classes to take (not only for your major but also to fulfill requirements) that it really helps to already have some of your core curriculum knocked out.

    In three sentences

Creighton has a great academic program with challenging classes and wonderful professors. Most professors are engaged in class and show interest in their students. Social life and opportunities are few, and it is difficult to become involved if partying is not your scene.

    Campus Safety

I always feel safe walking around campus. Plus they have these awesome cool blue lights around every corner so when you're walking around at night and feel uneasy you can push the nearest one, public safety will come and escort you back to your room safely.

Great for these types of students

Great for those who are acadmics driven. You will see a lot of health based students here, lots of pre-med students here. Hunger for competition is needed.

    Bang for the buck

The academics are challenging but you get to learn a lot! Professors are willing to help you, you just have to seek them for the help. The atmosphere is great because there are a lot of friendly people here and the landscaping is beautiful.

    What to do for fun

Honestly, there are not a lot of things to do for fun. They have a gym which can be pretty fun if you're into working out and they have the ocassional campus events such as their annual Jay Walk. Athletic events like soccer and basketball are HUGE here. You will see people wearing blue game day shirts on Fridays when there is a basketball or soccer game to support our players. Outside of campus is pretty sketch. Some highlights though are the Henry Doorly Zoo, the Old Market, West Roads Mall, and Midtown Crossing. But once you've visited those places, it can get to be quite boring afterwards. Plus it won't be that fun travelling in the cold.

    Food and Dining

The food is not that great. Think, your high school cafeteria but just revamped with a lot more food options and nicer dining. I was amazed to see that they have a salad bar every day and grill options such as grilled chicken, cheeseburgers, hamburgers, and a deli section everyday. It was nice to know there are some healthy options out there for you if you are trying to avoid the freshman 15. However, I found that they use a lot of butter in preparing their foods and I don't like butter so I found it displeasing. Also, I was eating the rice one day, and noticed a weird taste to it. It wasn't the usual semi-sweet taste I was familiar with but a buttery taste.... I came to the conclusion that they had buttered the rice and from then on I never touched it again.

    Dorm Life

I live in Deglman Hall which is the all-girls dorm on campus and from my experience I would say it's been a pretty good one. The bathrooms don't smell that bad and are clean, the rooms are bright and clean and don't come with a suspicious odor, and the community itself is very inviting. The only downfall to it is that it is an all-girls hall so you don't have the luxury of bumping into that cute guy in your hall every now and then. Also I feel like I don't meet as much people as the students who live in the bigger hall, Kiewit, but you still meet a lot of people for a college freshman.

    Academic Rigor

The academics here are quite challenging. If you are a top knotch student and consider yourself to be pretty smart, imagine thousands of you here at Creighton. Everyone here is driven to succeed, so the competition is pretty up there. But don't get intimidated! If you stay focused on your goals and are determined to get good grades and learn a lot you won't fall behind! The professors are always encouraging you to use their office hours so that you can ask them for help. Creighton takes their academics seriously and most classes have a high curve, meaning some classes require at least a 93% in order to have the bare minimum A.

    Tips for prospective students

Be on top of things and be responsible for yourself! No one is going to be your mom there and remind you when you have classes and tests. I would recommend using a planner to organize yourself and create a schedule for yourself. It's handy because you can keep track of all the dates of when your upcoming tests are, as well as other important miscellaneous tasks that need to be done. While you're here for studies and learning, don't get too attached to just studying. Make use of the resources Creighton offers like the various clubs and organizations on campus to make friends and explore the explore.
