Categories Comments Campus Safety the campus is patrolled by the clifton forge police, and has many emergency stations around campus.
Great for these types of students dslcc is great for anyone who is very short on funds. dabney is perfect for non-traditional students who took some time off after high school and now want to get their education. it is also perfect for students who want to get their general education out of the way inexpensively and then move on to a four-year college. dabney is perfect for career-oriented students, as it will usher students of their career programs directly into the work-force.
Bang for the buck dabney is not expensive. it's a community college and it gets the job done, allowing you to move forward with your life without being bogged down by debt.
What to do for fun dabney is very open to the creation of new clubs. if you can find enough people, you can make pretty much any kind of club you want. they have a pool table and other games on campus, and frequently have pool tournaments. i spend most of my time studying, so i don't take advantage of many of the activities on and around campus and therefore never know much about them.
Food and Dining in the clifton forge location, there is a hardees and a dairy queen about three miles from the school, both of which offer student discounts. the rockbridge regional center, dabney's second campus, is located next door to a food lion, and about five miles from a hardees, burger king, subway, and other local restaurants. there is a small cafe area in the library with snack and coffee machines, each credit card accessible.
Dorm Life there are no dormitories at dslcc, since most students live at home close to campus. the staff are very helpful to out of area students and provide them with much information on housing opportunities.
Academic Rigor for me, classes are not all that difficult. if you keep up with homework, you will understand the material taught in class. dabney offers many on-campus tutors for free if you find anything challenging. the classes are very small, and the teachers know each student by name. they are very helpful and have an open office policy, allowing students to get help directly from the teacher.
Tips for prospective students dabney will take pretty much all dual enrollment or advanced classes, so take the opportunity at your high school to take as many as you can. this makes dabney even more affordable than it already is. apply for scholarships. dabney has a host of scholarships for every kind of student. they are easy to apply for, and will pay for most of a year's education. dabney has many programs like nursing and welding that will take you straight to a career, so if you know what you want to be doing in life, apply for scholarships directly related to that program. the competition will be smaller and it will be easier to win a scholarship.
In three sentences dabney is a fantastic place for students who want to seriously study and move on to a four year college. dslcc has two campuses about forty minutes from each other so that many students don't have to commute so far if they don't live in the clifton forge area. the staff works very hard to help students find and transfer to a four-year institution that matches them well, because at dslcc they really want you to succeed.

Bang for the buck As a community college the tuition cannot be beat. Attending is a great way to save yourself some money while getting a great education.
What to do for fun Student services does an amazing job setting up various activities from canoeing to touring museums. Emails are sent on a regular basis to keep you informed of what there is for you to partake in.
Food and Dining While there is only one place to eat at on campus there are a few fast food options only minutes away.

Academic Rigor Classes are pretty straight forward. If you do your work and take advantage of the free tutoring services if needed you'll do fine.
