Categories Comments Great for these types of students great for students who want to learn and meet good people, and get a lot of personal attention
Tips for prospective students Research the classes required for the major. I know a lot of people who are not happy about the classes they are going to have to take, but it can easily be found on the website.
Bang for the buck For a private college, I would say it is very affordable.
Am enjoying being here So far, so good
Am learning a lot All of the teachers I have had so far are very knowledgeable and helpful

Categories Comments Great for these types of students Students from small towns or who enjoy a family oriented living situation will definitely enjoy the tight-knit community that Daemen has built. Offering multiple clubs and groups for those who like to be involved, Daemen makes it hard to walk down the hall and not say Hey! to half the people you pass.
Tips for prospective students There are many different types of dorm availabilities now that the school is expanding exponentially in their student population, but despite the appeal of some of the other options, make sure that in your freshman year you get your housing deposit in early. You'll end up in Canavan freshman dorm, which might not be the prettiest, but after hearings stories of feelings of isolation from my friends who lived in other living areas who didn't get the full experience as I did, I look back with pure compassion for that rough brick building. Also, everyone always says Get involved! but here at Daemen, you will rarely come across a person who isn't involved in some sort of club, team, or meeting group. Your first few weeks are prime time to put yourself out there; not only will you meet other people your age trying for the same thing, but you'll meet a bunch of upper-classmen who will be some of the most helpful people you meet in your college career!
Bang for the buck Despite the heavy price tag Daemen puts on its tuition statements, the majority of the student body (along with myself), only pays about half of this due to financial aid, a vast amount of scholarships and grants available to be awarded, and through the large work-study program on campus. Considering this, I would consider my time there to have been worth the dollars I paid.
Am enjoying being here Compared to other campuses in Buffalo, Daemen's is pretty small. Despite this, the school puts in massive efforts to entertain students and to keep them occupied; from Casino Nights, TGIF (free food), Springfest, and intramural sports, to name a few, there always seems to be something going on. Although only minor on our campus, there is also Greek life with four sororities and one fraternity, all of which comply with strict anti-hazing rules and laws. Student administration positions are available also, including Student Alumni Ambassadors, Student Association, Tour Guides and Student Government, all of which are key roles to be played in the foundation of the school. If you like to get out and do things, Daemen offers a world of opportunities to do so with a little or a lot for everyone.
Am learning a lot Although the available majors don't expand over a wide range of topics and subjects, the individual programs that are available offer unique courses that could pique almost anyone's interests. Along with the standard curriculum, students have the option to create independent studies for not only classes, but entire majors (require approval from department head or Dean, respectively). With the opportunity to manipulate your education to get what you want out of it, it's difficult to not learn and keep interest! With a brand new library which features up-to-date technologies around every corner, having a nice place to study is never a problem. With over 25 computers on the first floor and a computer lab only a five minute walk away, papers are easily written and research easily compiled. Both areas for quiet-study and for groups are available, so whatever your ideal studying environment is, you're sure to find a nice, comfortable chair or a large room to fit all of your friends in.

Categories Comments Great for these types of students I would really say anyone. There are students here who are shyer and are using this college to come out of their shells slowly, but there are also students who are just here to be crazy and have fun. I think the best thing about Daemen is that all these different kinds of students are still accepted and made to feel at home.
Tips for prospective students Get involved in some of the clubs on campus; the art club, anime club, and English club are all great. I'd avoid the Greek organizations, though; it's much more worthwhile to be in a club with people who share your interests.
Bang for the buck Daemen is expensive, but the education is really worthwhile. Some of my expenses are covered by the scholarship program, but I definitely recommend carefully considering your finances before making any decision about where to go to school.
Am enjoying being here Everyone is so friendly; I was worried at first about being so far away from home, but the easy acceptance I experienced right off the bat reassured me that Daemen was the right choice.
Am learning a lot The professors are really knowledgeable and approachable, for the most part, and the small class sizes make it much easier for professors to answer individual questions.

Categories Comments Campus Safety one of the top 5 safest schools in america in 2009, and still safe.
Clubs and Activities many activities to offer.
Great for these types of students studious, hard workers, and those who love the community feel of small schools.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus dc book keeps track of things to do while you're in the buffalo-amherst area, and you receive awards at graduation if you complete the dc book.
What to do for fun many clubs and activities, and there is always something fun going on.
Tips for prospective students apply early and get scholarships because it is starting to get expensive. but it is 100% worth it.

Categories Comments Food and Dining To me, food will be acceptable no matter whence it came. There are a variety of healthy, nutritious foods and many options for vegetarians.
Dorm Life Almost all freshmen will be in the same hall. The next year and beyond will be in these lush apartments.
Academic Rigor If you sort out your priorities early, then the work should not be so difficult.
Tips for prospective students Daemen is in the vicinity of Buffalo. If you are not a fan of the cold, then this is not the best place for you.
In three sentences The college has a very homely type of community, with the closeness of my small high school. The staff at orientation eagerly welcomed incoming freshmen with group activities designed to introduce eveyone to Daemen. It is not a bad place to be.

Tips for prospective students Students need to get involved and stay involved. New students should also get to know one teacher very well. This way the teacher will go over and above to assist you.
In three sentences The teachers are down to earth and are always eager to help students. The classes are small; generally 25 students or less. Lastly, the college creates a family atmosphere with the the enormous amount of free activities.

Categories Comments Clubs and Activities Lots and lots of clubs to join and if they don't have one for you, you can start your own.
Great for these types of students Nursing, Physician assistants, physical therapy, art, psychology majors, science and buisness
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus The DC book is a book full of daemen traditions that you should do before you graduate and if you do 50 of them you receive a medal during graduation ceremony.
Bang for the buck You definitely get what you paid for at daemen. Smaller classes, smaller friendly campus, great teachers and plenty of opportunities for you to further your education for free by attending seminars.
What to do for fun There are shuttles that run in the weekends that take you to the mall and other close by areas. There is plenty of clubs available for students to join, a volleyball court on campus, a work out room and weekly scheduled activities after classes.
Food and Dining Food is great, you just have to keep in mind it isn't going to be your parents cooking. They have plenty of options that change daily to accommodate everyones tastes, diets and allergies. so if your a vegetarian they have options for you.
Dorm Life The freshman dorms are not the greatest because they are small and do not have ac. However the junior/senior apartments are very spacious and nice and you can get an apartment as a freshman and sophomore if you apply early enough.
Academic Rigor The classes are challenging but do not overwhelm you with work. Teachers are very understanding.
Tips for prospective students Tour the campus before orientation and classes start that way you get to know your way around campus. Also get to know your teachers and academic advisors, they are there to help support you so don't be shy!
In three sentences Daemen college is a wonderful fun filled place. They have lots of activities that are super fun for students who dorm and for those who are commuting. The academics are great and the teachers really show they care.

Categories Comments Campus Safety There is a security booth just outside the dorms, and I never fell unsafe, even walking around at night. The security guards are really nice, but sometimes the rules about guests having to sign in after 5pm seem kind of strict.
Greek Life There is a Greek community here, but they can't have fraternity or sorority houses. The people I have talked to that are involved in Greek all love it and encourage others to join.
Clubs and Activities There are many different clubs and activities, however they often meet during lunch time, and a lot of students can't make the initial meetings to join the club.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus The Tradition Keepers book has a long list of different Daemen College traditions that they urge students to take part in.
Bang for the buck If you are a B+ or A- student, the scholarships offered are very generous, even though the initial price is high. However, if you are an A+ student, you will only receive that same amount as the B+ student unless you win one of the 2 full ride scholarships (yes, they only have 2.) Many students feel slighted in this way, but the education really is comparable to more expensive schools.
What to do for fun There are a lot of different on campus activities and clubs to join, especially for a small school.
Food and Dining The food starts off seeming really good, but it does go downhill. Breakfasts are tasty, though, you can get fresh omelets made to order every day, and the rest of the options vary by day. As for lunch and dinner, the deli is nice, so is the grill and the pasta bar, but the actual entrees really aren't very good.
Dorm Life There are rules in place regarding noise levels and visitors at night which seem pretty strict, but all-in-all, it is a good experience. It is really nice to have a bathroom shared among only 5 girls instead of the whole floor.
Academic Rigor Some of the classes can be difficult, but the teachers are all very willing to help you, especially during office hours.
Tips for prospective students If you are looking to go PA or PT and can take a chemistry class that will transfer over and make it so you don't need to take chem, do it. It is one of the more difficult classes here, and the lab portion requires a lot of work outside of classroom hours.
In three sentences A small school in suburban Amherst with a tight-knit community. The campus is very small, and almost everyone knows everyone else. The physician assistant and physical therapy programs are very popular and highly accredited here.

Categories Comments Campus Safety The campus is very safe with security guards walking through the residence halls every hour and walking around campus with two security stations centered in the front and back of the little campus.
Clubs and Activities Many good clubs to join in from intermural sports or acting clubs.
Bang for the buck For the amount of tuition you do get a lot of perks such as academic coaches and speakers, a lot of new equipment too.
What to do for fun Amherst is centrally located and is the best as far as doing fun things, the college offers a lot of promotional speakers, and trips to places as well as housing does things. Being in Amherst your located near great shopping centers, parks, the zoo, the aquarium is only thirty minutes away as well as Canada there are many things to do to keep you having a great time with spending little money!
Food and Dining Dining at Wick is horrible the food is disgusting!
Dorm Life After you get out of Freshman Dorming at Canavan then it is a great experience in the big spacious apartments but the Canavan is horrible and I hated it my first year. However, I love living in the apartments they are the best!
Academic Rigor Academically very good programs for PT and PA, great facilities.
Tips for prospective students Get to know your teachers and do not wait till the last minute, everyone is very helpful if you ask. Lastly use learning coaches from the library you pay for their services in your tuition so you might as well use them!
In three sentences Good school, great Physical Therapy Program. No real complaints everyone is very freindly.

Categories Comments Campus Safety Very safe part of Buffalo. No blue light system, but there is always campus security on duty.
Greek Life 5 Greek societies. participate and host events. They are not nation but specific to the college.
Clubs and Activities No very abundant.
Great for these types of students Academically focused, and determined.
Bang for the buck This is a great school especially in the Physical therapy and Physicians assistant majors. Employers look highly upon Daemen graduates, however the social life, dining experience, and sometimes the living experience are little to be desired.
What to do for fun Activities are put on by various social groups, however there is no was to determine how many people will show up. TGIF every Friday are fairly popular, and Springfest is always well attended.
Food and Dining The food isn't anything special and often runs out quickly. The hours are not practical.
Dorm Life Dorming in your 1st year is a great experience and the apartments as an upperclassman are very nice.
Academic Rigor Your high school study methods will not do here.
Tips for prospective students If you are looking for a school with an active social life consider other options.
In three sentences A college focused on academic excellence. The social life is minimal, but the obtained knowledge is endless. A great school to ensure a succesful future.

Categories Comments Campus Safety they campus is amazing safe. You can even walk around the college and everything you have officers everywhere. it makes you feel so safe. Also, because it's located in Amherst you feel even more safe there. i walked around all night and say when i had a day off of school and i just loved it. there are shops, food places, and gas stations, and more!!!! everything in walking distance.
Clubs and Activities they have MANY many many clubs to choose from whatever club you think of they can even start that for you.
Bang for the buck i loved this college it has everything you need to make sure your transition from high school to college good luck and have fun there at the best college ever.
What to do for fun They have alot to do every week . but what i love about this college it doesn't interfere with the academics usually everything is at night but they give you a discount if your a student yay!
Food and Dining The food is AMAZING THERE!!! they have the best cooks to me they even have the Cyber Cafe downstairs. the moment you walk in you feel like it's back in the 80's. but with great food too. So i love the food there it was something new everyday. ALSO, you can write on this wall and tell them what food you like or even love, they will reply back and get it for you. they have a cereal station that's open all day and has a sandwich station, sub station, coffee, tea, and more. remember it's open from 7am-7pm
Dorm Life The dorm life is wonderful you either get the Suites hotel, Collegiate Village, or Canavan as a freshman, as a upper class man you can get to move into an apartment. So the dorm life gets better as you move up.
Academic Rigor There academics have a lot of remedial classes for kids who still need help like in English, math, of even science. This school is one the best schools that can teach you anything you need without being boring they make sure you pay attention and have. Also, for kids who has that ready to go attitude for non remedial classes they have that already set for you. It's a school that has your needs and can help you with anything class including the teachers you can contact them anytime, but make sure you make an appointment first you get in faster to see them.
Tips for prospective students If you want a college that helps you for everything included disability, finance problems, or just questions you don;t understand about the college and how it works or want one that is nice and small and diverse then go to Daemen. That old saying teachers said to you back in grade school i repeat to you all. JUST ASK QUESTIONS!!! the staff there can help you understand anything you need. Daemen staff is helpful, caring, and more. If you want a college that like this go to Daemen College.
In three sentences Is daemen a amazing school? yes Has daemen done everything to help you get by on the first day? yes Can daemen be a great school even after you graduate? yes
