Categories Comments Great for these types of students Anyone interested in pursuing higher education with fellow Christians in a very Christian learning environment.
Tips for prospective students Just pray up, and seek God as to if He would have you go here. These guys at DBU prayed over my application, read over it, and sought out God's decision. It's a great school with wonderful people.
Bang for the buck Expensive for me, but I know that I serve a God that controls finances.
Will enjoy being here Great atmosphere, and the people care.
Will learn a lot Looks like a great place to be, and is perfect for pursuing my call to Ministry.

Categories Comments Great for these types of students DBU is an awesome school! The campus is full of life and the teachers constantly emphasize Christ's love. The school would be great for students who are wanting to pursue a degree in Music or Education. I highly recommend those two departments. The teachers are passionate about what they are teaching and love their students. If you are a student and want to pursue Music or become a teacher, this is definitely the school for you!
Tips for prospective students Ask tons of questions! If you think that you have asked enough questions, you haven't. Ask them if you have left anything out. DBU staff is so kind and caring and they LOVE to answer those questions. Better to have too much information when making a decision rather than not enough information and go in blind. Good Luck!

Categories Comments Great for these types of students Hard-working, determined. It's all about what you want to study!
Tips for prospective students Apply for as many scholarships as you can! It's well worth your time. Also, make sure that you're coming here because of your field of study. We have an amazing music program, Biblical studies program and education program, but I think everything else is mediocre and you could probably go somewhere else and save a lot of money and get the same standard of education.
Bang for the buck Yes, it is amazing education, but (speaking as a student who has to pay out of my own pocket) it is incredibly difficult to pay sometimes.
Am enjoying being here I absolutely love my college experience. At times, its unfortunate that there aren't more ways to get involved on campus, but when you find what you like, it's awesome. The campus is gorgeous, and it is an awesome place. I wish there was more on campus, though, like maybe a coffee shop or restaurant.
Am learning a lot I am a sophomore in the Music Business program. DBU has an incredibly special program that is growing as people learn of its exceptional merit. It is the only program of its kind. We are taught by professors who have been in the music business world for years and have decided to come teach us everything we know. From lawyers to former performers, you will receive the best musical education from the best of the best.

Categories Comments Great for these types of students great for students who are tired of being just students who are christians, and want to be christian students. great for students that are craving a family and a body of believers to be surrounded by. great for students hungry for the truth.
Tips for prospective students apply early, and apply for every scholarship you think you may qualify for. if you have any intrest in pursuing any kind of christian ministy, apply for the ministerial grant. apply for the christian leadership scholarship, as it is a sure way to take a nice chunk of the cost of the tuition.
Bang for the buck honestly, it's expensive. that's the biggest (and really only) complaint i hear over and over. however, it's workable. i'm paying for my education entirely on my own. i've recieved a lot of financial aid, but also have a job on campus that is really helping me get through all my payments. i really think dbu is worth it. and you are called by god to be here, he will prepare a way! his will, his bill.
Am enjoying being here I have made so many friends here and met so many like-minded people. I am doing well in my classes and am enjoying learning so much! There are so many activities to get involved in, and always something to do. My favorite part, though, is how God is moving so evidently here.
Academic Rigor my professors are all so knowledgable, and passionate about what they teach!

Categories Comments Great for these types of students People who are outgoing Christians People who love to serve/do mission trips
Tips for prospective students Make sure you do well on SAT/ACT Get involved with community service Keep grades high for scholarships
Bang for the buck Considering that this is a private school it's relatively cheap. With scholarships and financial aid I'm paying less then my friend at University of Texas. The campus is gorgeous and the facilities are nice. The dorms aren't as expensive as other universities and they are nice. The food isn't that great though for what you pay for.
Am enjoying being here Overall DBU is great school. The people are really nice for the most part. There are occasional exceptions. The weekends are dead most of the times because most of the students go home. However, student life does work hard to make the campus more involved. Also a lot of the students go off campus because there are shops 5-10 minutes away. Also if you join a sorority/fraternity there are opportunities to have fun.
Am learning a lot To be honest I haven't learned too much here. I have learned a lot in some classes but not as much as other college students. I feel as if I am back in high school again. My high school was actually harder and more challenging. However, once you complete your basic courses and go more in depth into courses that are for your major you learn a lot more. It depends on who your professor is if you want to get the best education.

Categories Comments Great for these types of students DBU is a great place for students who want to find what they want to do with their lives and then work towards that goal. It is a place where servant-leaders are developed and the love of Christ is all around; so for students who are looking for a place filled with support and encouragement, as well as a place to be challenged and grow in every area of their lives, DBU is the place to be.
Tips for prospective students The best tip I can give is to come visit the campus. Once you are there, you'll know if it is right for you or not.
Bang for the buck Like any college, DBU is expensive, but well worth the money. Financial aid will work with all the students to get them any available scholarships and work out payment plans to help take the stress off of paying for college.
Am enjoying being here I love DBU! The faculty, from the teachers to the lunch crew, and the students are friendly, accepting, and fun to be around. There are so many different kinds of people from different cultures and family backgrounds from all around the world. The events are well planned and so much fun and the whole feeling of being on campus is one that just makes you happy to be there.
Am learning a lot Since coming to DBU, I have learned a lot more about my intended area of work. The professors are friendly, knowledgeable, and always willing to help students better understand the curriculum. I know that what I am learned here is exactly what I need to know for my future career and the more I learn, the better prepared I feel for the future.

Categories Comments Great for these types of students If you like a small campus and want to be a name instead of a number then this is the school for you!
Tips for prospective students Apply for as many scholarships as you possibly can and don't be afraid to ask for help with anything.
Bang for the buck Although it's expensive, its definitely worth it for the education that you're getting.
Am enjoying being here The students and staff alike are so friendly and helpful in so many ways. The campus is so beautiful and peaceful.
Am learning a lot The academics are really challenging here and the professors push their students to succeed.

Categories Comments Great for these types of students Every type of student from every walk of life will flourish at DBU!
Tips for prospective students When applying for DBU, ask about the Christian Leadership Scholarship.
Bang for the buck DBU is a top-notch school. Students not only receive a wonderful education, Student Life creates a large number of social events, many of which are free to students!
Am enjoying being here I enjoy all of the activities and friendships I have developed while attending Dallas Baptist University. If you're a student who wants to have a good, clean time, while learning all you can, DBU is the place for you!
Am learning a lot The teachers at DBU not only teach you skills for your studies and career, they also teach you about life. I am learning so much about my studies, life, and God.

Categories Comments Great for these types of students Great for all types of students! As long as you believe in God because the education is Christ centered which I love!!!! =)
Tips for prospective students Buy books online from amazon, chegg, textbooks.com. Books at all & any campus are ridiculouslly expensive from the bookstore. Attend everything at S.W.A.T becuase that is were you meet a lot of people plus, it's fun!
Bang for the buck The tuition has increased but it is totally worth it. They have a great staff and awesome activities for student life body.
Am enjoying being here I love it! My RA is awesome and everyone is very nice.
Am learning a lot I have only been here 4 days and I have learned a lot. The professors are great and care about your education and learning experience.

Categories Comments Great for these types of students Students who enjoy the some what cozy campus feel. Students who are involved in the Christian faith will like it here. Students who love Dallas will like it here. And students who want to be able to get a hold of their professors will love it here.
Tips for prospective students Make sure to apply for the Christian Leadership Scholarship because it does cover a fair amount of the cost. Make sure to visit campus and get a feel for the campus before coming here. Make sure to go to SWAT which is the orientation week, so that you can get to know your peers before classes start.
Bang for the buck Though Dallas Baptist University is a bit on the expensive side, there are ways to pay for it. DBU is more than generous in its scholarship awards. Make sure to apply for your Christian Leadership Scholarship.
Am enjoying being here Campus life is great! Get involved with as much as you can and you won't regret it. The fraternities here are great and really give you a sense of brotherhood. And the Patriots are incredible at Baseball!
Am learning a lot DBU is one of the few schools you can get challenged to grow not only intellectually but spiritually as well. All the classes challenge you to think at the next level as well as aid you in maturing into the person you want to be in the future.

Categories Comments Campus Safety Campus Security always roaming around the campus, the school is gated. On the weekend only one gate is open to get in and out of campus (with your car obviously), and also the gates (except the main one) closes around 1am. So safe, which is why I love it!
Greek Life Many sororities and many fraternities that I hear great things about!!! I have not RUSHed yet, but I will definitely look into it this next semester!
Clubs and Activities Sororities, Bible Studies, Sports, and more!
Great for these types of students Christian, and non Christian. Those who need to be surrounded by fun loving and encouraging people.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus It's a joke that when you get there, by the next semester you are going to be engaged. You do meet numerous people and all so different, but sweet! We have so many traditions, but you'll just have to come visit or attend to find out! ;) Oh suspense!!
Bang for the buck Expensive, but totally worth it and DBU offers many scholarship opportunities!
What to do for fun There are so many opportunities to serve, sports games to go to, friends' towns to visit, sports inter-mural, and so much more! Oh, and there are beautiful ponds to take pictures at!
Food and Dining Every Monday night in the cafeteria is chicken fried steak night. The food is delicious, but the wraps made by Phyllis are the best! I ate countless wraps throughout my time there! The cooks are so sweet and will do anything for you! They cook and serve with love! There are also cafe's throughout the campus!
Dorm Life You make so many friends living in the dorms. My roommate became my best friend! You meet SO many people.
Academic Rigor The teachers are wonderful, interested in helping you learn, and encouraging!
Tips for prospective students Visit the campus, and you will automatically fall in love! Apply for scholarships!!!
In three sentences Dallas Baptist University is a university that puts values student leadership. From academics, to relationships with Christ, to the workers, faculty, and classes, Dallas Baptist University values each student and member and offers every possible way to help them grow.

Categories Comments Campus Safety The campus is very secluded. It's surrounded by a lake, an agriculture farm, the Potter House, and a cemetery, so it feels very protected and away from outside danger. Campus security is always checking to make sure that everything is safe and guards the gate at night to make sure that everybody who comes on campus is supposed to be there.
Greek Life All of the greek life at DBU is service oriented and they all help out in different parts of the DFW metroplex and also on DBU campus.
Clubs and Activities There are so many things to get involved in at DBU. There's things like Jewel House and Stone House for freshmen to live with a group who want to grow and develop together as they do bible studies and live together. There are several opportunities to get involved in student, academic, and spiritual life.
Great for these types of students Any student who is looking for a place with a huge sense of community and a place that incorporates the Lord in everything it offers. Anyone who wants a smaller college with a one-on-one experience with their professors will love DBU.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus There's an annual male beauty pageant called Mr. Big Chief. Six-eight guys on campus (who are really just the class clowns) compete in different categories like evening wear, swim wear, talent, etc. There's also several events to go to like the winter ball, midnight madness which is a party/pep rally to kick off basketball season, Sadie Hawkins dance which is a girl-ask-guys western dance, and so much more!
Bang for the buck Being a private school, DBU can be a little expensive. Otherwise, I wouldn't be applying for this scholarship! But they are more than willing to help people be able to afford to go there. Almost everyone that I've talked to has the Christian Leadership Scholarship that they offer that pays for up to 40% of school fees. And as far as private christian schools, DBU is one of the cheapest in the country.
What to do for fun There's constantly things to do at DBU. From intramural sports, to athletic games, Mr. Big Chief (a male beauty pageant), and so much more, it's impossible to be bored.
Food and Dining Granted, it's not a five-star restaurant. But, as far as school food goes, it's delicious!
Dorm Life The dorm rooms themselves are nice. The closets are HUGE! The buildings that they're in are amazing, especially Spence! All of the dorms are very community oriented and they also branch out to the other dorms as well. I'm pretty sure that they have thought of everything to make sure that the people living in the dorms are as comfortable as possible.
Academic Rigor The academics are about as standard as they come, but what makes it so unique is the fact that the professors are all incredibly eager to get to know students on a personal level and help them achieve their greatest in class.
Tips for prospective students Don't be afraid. Everything works out really smoothly and quickly. It is really intimidating at first, but at the end of the day everyone is in the same boat as you and the faculty and staff live to help all of DBU's students and I've come to find that they LOVE freshmen!
In three sentences DBU is a fantastic place for students who are looking to not only further their education, but also their social life and faith. Everything at DBU oozes with fun, a sense of community, and the love of the Lord. I'm so excited to be attending there in the fall, because I know that I will grow in Christ and grow as a person as well.

Categories Comments Great for these types of students Motivated, Hard Working, Christian, and willing to learn to be a servant-leader.
Tips for prospective students Study hard and get a head early. Take professor Dr. Ross O'Brien as often as possible if you are a business major!
Bang for the buck For the price that we pay to go to school there, it looks like the price could be too much. However, you quickly realize that there are plenty of scholarships to help you and the price is well worth it.
Did enjoy being here After leaving campus, I realized how much I enjoyed being around my friends and having the community that DBU offers.
Did learn a lot It is not as highly credited as some schools but I did learn a lot once in my junior and senior years.

Great for these types of students just work hard. don't stop doing your studies.

Categories Comments Campus Safety Super-safe with gates and security and speed bumps. Yay...
Greek Life Yep.
Clubs and Activities There is a lot going on on campus, but many of the activities are centered around service projects. It's fun though and a great way to meet new people.
Great for these types of students Christian students. People who don't mind a small school and a little hard work. You do have to go to chapel, but they get good speakers and put together a solid worship team.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus Lots of reasons for candle lighting-- that's actually kind of nice.
Bang for the buck Great help with financial aid-- good school for less money (for a private school anyway).
What to do for fun It's Dallas! There's a lot going on. On campus: inter mural sports are fun, there are student life events, and coke breaks. Epic annual capture-the-flag game. Off-campus: check out a Ranger's game, go to Six Flags (we get student discounts). Go dancing at Sons of Herman hall on Wednesday night or hit up the Dallas Museum of Art. There is usually coming happening in Deep Elum or over at Fair Park.
Food and Dining Sodexo is the only food provider on campus. Get the ten-meals-a-week dining plan and plan on driving five minutes to chick-fil-a or starbucks a couple times a week.
Dorm Life Okay. The floors get gross so get a rug and a vacuum cleaner. Spence is best for girls who like quite, Crowley is more fun and better for making friends. Can't have a microwave or coffee maker in there room though.
Academic Rigor It wasn't really hard if you went to class and did your homework. They've made a few classes like Biology for non-majors easier.
Tips for prospective students Apply for tons of financial aid, live in the dorms, and go to the Writing center for English class help!
In three sentences Great school with a warm, friendly atmosphere. Very Christ-centered in everything they do. Also really helpful with scholarships and financial aid.

Categories Comments What to do for fun From joining clubs, going to the rec center for swimming, to all the other activities on campus, DBU has something for everyone. I highly recommend this college to anyone who may or may not be considering it as their university.
Food and Dining The food is always really good and there is a great variety. It doesn't taste like cafeteria food that no one wants to eat.
Dorm Life All though I have not lived on campus at this university I know many who do and I have heard nothing but great things.
Academic Rigor Definitely a five out of five. I've learned exactly what I needed to be equipped in my field of study and I am excited to head to the world after college.

Categories Comments Campus Safety DBU is the safest place that I have ever been. Students always feel safe with the security system and abundance of lighting.
Great for these types of students DBU is great for Education majors, Music majors, and Business majors.
Bang for the buck DBU is very expensive but they truly do give the student a quality education to their students.
What to do for fun There is not a whole lot of activities to do for fun on campus. However, they provide social events, sports activities, and a loft for students to hang out in.
Food and Dining I would say that the dining hall is not great. However, their food is much better than many other dining halls.
Dorm Life The dorms are all very clean and the students are well taken care of throughout their stay. However, their are some strict rules placed on students in the dorms.
Academic Rigor I would say that DBU has a very challenging but rewarding academic program that really challenges the students to become all that they are capable of becoming.
Tips for prospective students I would suggest that prospective students really know what they want to do before coming to school here. The cost of the school makes it very hard on people who switch majors in the middle of their college career.
In three sentences Dallas Baptist University does a great job of integrating faith and learning which aids in giving a quality education. The campus is beautiful and the people create a great environment to learn. DBU is definitely one of my favorite places.

Categories Comments Campus Safety DBU is a very safe campus. Security patrols at all times and is always willing to come to the students aid both on and off campus. I have had a flat tire before that they have come and fixed for me.
Greek Life DBU just started greek life two years ago. I have not been apart of it myself but from what I can gather it has been growing and thriving and all the participants enjoy it very much.
Clubs and Activities There are so many different clubs and activities on campus that anyone can find there own little niche here.
Great for these types of students I think DBU is great for all different types of students. Almost anyone can find there own place here. It's easy to make friends and get involved. Dallas Baptist University is one of the most agreeable and friendly places that you will ever have the privileged to go to.
Bang for the buck Dallas Baptist University hosts a lot of free event's and concerts every semester.
What to do for fun There isn't a whole lot to do on campus for fun. We have a lot of inter mural teams and small groups but for the most part you have to go off campus for that kind of thing. Good news though, Dallas Baptist University is located smack dab in between Dallas and Fort Worth so there are plenty of places to do things in the area.
Food and Dining There are many different options for food on campus. The Soda Shoppe and the Patriot Cafe are excellent. The cafe typically has a very good breakfast and lunch but lacks a little around dinner time but they always have a good selections of different types of food to choose from.
Dorm Life The dorm life on campus is pretty great in comparison to many other college. DBU seems to have a dorm for every type of student. If you are loud, social, and outgoing Lange and Crowley are for you. If you are more reserved and studious than Williams and Spence is more of what you are looking for.
Academic Rigor Dallas Baptist University offers many different avenues for majors to their undergraduate students. Some of the majors are more difficult than others but DBU has phenomenal programs in Music Business, Psychology and Sociology, Biology and Nursing, and Business. The faculty and staff strive to achieve academic excellence with small and personal class settings.

Categories Comments Campus Safety The campus is very safe, there are guards that are on constant patrol of the campus grounds and a high fence around the school with only two main entrances. There are help stations located various places all over campus and any student of faculty member pacing by would never pass by the opportunity to help out a friend.
Greek Life There are several fraternities and sororities, I am not currently a member of one but I know people that are. It is a lot of fun and each group is different and appeals to all kinds of people.
Clubs and Activities There are many things to get involved in, with a little exploring, there is something for every student.
Bang for the buck The school is at a median price compared to other private institutions, however, it is expensive for some people and like I mentioned before scholarships are highly exclusive to on-campus students.
What to do for fun There are many sports, intramural activities, clubs, greek life, a student loft for pool and pong pong, there's swimming pools, computer labs, art departments, and lots of ground with beautiful landscaping.
Food and Dining The food is great and relatively inexpensive. The food service workers are friendly and prompt every time.
Dorm Life I live off-campus so I cannot truly rate Dorm Life. But I do know that there are more opportunities given to dorm students much of which I consider unfair. I cannot afford to live in the dorms and could use more scholarships, most though are only given to on-campus students.
Academic Rigor I transferred to DBU and after one year I feel I have learned more than I have at any other school. The classes are challenging and engaging.
Tips for prospective students Try, if you can, to live on campus. There are more opportunities given to on-campus students including jobs, scholarships, and dorm life.
In three sentences It is a well established school with a lot to offer. It has great classes, I feel I have learned more here than at my previous schools. It has a great social atmosphere, students can get involved anywhere.

Categories Comments Campus Safety The security team is dedicated to student safety. Each member of security is kind and very willing to help students with any needs.
Greek Life Still in it's early years, DBU GreekLife is a growing trend among the campus students.
Great for these types of students Those wishing to seriously pursue a growing relationship in Christ.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus Throwin' your guns up at a game
What to do for fun StudentLife hosts many events on a regular basis that provide a perfect opportunity to meet new people and build upon existing bonds. Off of campus there seem to be endless activity possibilities. From the drive-in movie theater to bowling to concerts at the House of Blues in Dallas and dancing at BillyBobs every Thursday night, if one is looking, one will find plenty to do.
Food and Dining The staff are very kind and enthusiastic. Unfortunately at DBU, the food quality and variety is rather lacking. Thankfully, there are many dining out opportunities in the immediate area as well.
Dorm Life Dorm life is one of excitement and adventure. Though the space is limited, one has many opportunities to grow personally and socially.
Academic Rigor The academic rigor depends mainly on the courses you take, professors you choose, and effort you put into each class.
Tips for prospective students Look at the heart of a university, not the fancy buildings or tuition price. The heart of DBU is deeply hidden in Jesus Christ, all else is secondary.
In three sentences Dallas Baptist University is a place of personal and spiritual development. A nourishing, Christian environment with professors that not only teach servant-leadership but who also model it as well. The perfect school for students with the desire to grow in their faith and become a greater influence in today's world.

Categories Comments Campus Safety There is campus security. Enforcing parking regulations, shuttle service, circulating campus at all times to ensure safety
Great for these types of students This is a Christ centered university, if not religious might not want to consider this University.
Bang for the buck It is a little bit more than public universities, however you get more out of the school since class sizes are small and their main focus is your success.
What to do for fun There are many off campus activities where DBU does provide free transportation to, these are sports, concerts, museums, and rodeos.
Food and Dining There is food available to ensure that students receive the nutrition necessary. Chef takes his time to know students allowing to meet the needs. Also if a person needs a special diet there are accommodations.
Dorm Life Different options. Residence hall with one, two, and three student dorms. Also apartments and townhouses available completely furnished, amenities include walk in closets, study room, washer and dryer, and even a pool. All this on campus.
Academic Rigor Small classroom setting. Giving the instructors a bigger chance at meeting their students needs
In three sentences Among the best in the area, compared with top public Universities. Balance between education and religion. They really care about their students, not just their money.

Categories Comments Campus Safety There is campus security always around and at every entrance or exit. You must show your ID to get into the school and they have rules to protect the safety of all the students. A student can have someone stay overnight as long as it is the same sex student as yourself and they can only stay for 2 days and no later than. Another one of their rules is a very reasonable curfew.
Clubs and Activities There are always fun things to do and you are not bored at all. They have Sadie Hawkins dances, winter ball, tail gate parties, clash of the classes, hall wars, etc. It is so much fun and it helps other people get involved with the campus fun and meet other students as well.
What to do for fun They always have activities and intramural sports as well as athletic sports that are going on. There are different clubs that hold activities and party's, so to speak, for the whole campus to be involved in. And plus, since it is a private christian university, they have a lot of things to help out the community and people in other countries that they try to help by going on mission trips and sending things to help.
Food and Dining Those who are living on campus must have a meal plan. There are about 3 or 4 different meal plans to choose from. On certain days they have specific meals and for baseball games and some other activities or sporting events, steaks and other types of meats are cooked out on the grill. They even have a club for guys called beast feast and the people running the club have days where they cook out all kinds of stuff for a huge meal for men with big appetites.
Dorm Life Student living on campus is very very good especially for a new coming freshman or a transfer student. On campus, there are two different dorms for girls and two different dorms for boys. Not only do they have dorms but they also have apartments, town homes, and brownstone housing for upperclassmen or for those who have a certain amount of college credit hours that is equivalent of an upperclassmen.
Academic Rigor There is a long list of majors and minors you can take for a degree at Dallas Baptist University. There are some things that may not be on the list, of course, but if you ask one of the admission councilors, they will gladly guide you and help you decide what you should do academically.
Tips for prospective students Be open to new activities, people, a new lifestyle and you will see how wonderful DBU is and how much you will learn there. As long as you are accepting of what you can accomplish here, you will have the time of your life.
In three sentences I love my school very much it is such a beautiful campus. The faculty and students are very welcoming and there are so many things they do for incoming freshman and transfer students to help them transition into the school. For all those people who are thinking about Dallas Baptist University, you should most definitely tour the campus a few times and get the feel for the campus and staff and you will see you won't be disappointed.

Categories Comments Campus Safety I feel so safe on campus! I can leave my car unlocked and still feel safe! security is always driving around.
Greek Life I do not know much about this.
Clubs and Activities Not enough resources and information around campus. But I do like the bible studies and class studies on campus.
Great for these types of students Religion and biblical studies.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus I love all the scenery! I like the traditional pep rally and coke breaks! free food!
Bang for the buck Woah! DBU is so expensive and costs too much for the worth. I love the spiritual connection there, but I will be in debt forever because of the tuition costs.!!
What to do for fun I love meeting new people just by walking around campus. I join bible study groups or Rec team groups! I love going to the fitnes center and working out or just sitting in the gorgeous lawn and seeing the view from the top of the hill.
Food and Dining I wish there was more healthy options to choose from. The food is very processed and greasy. The cafeteria is too small and food runs out very fast. I like the salad bar but sometimes all of the healthy choices are gone by the time I get there.
Dorm Life I live in Spence! Spence is a gorgeous building and a blessing to live in. I wish there was more parking in front of the dorm but the view is gorgeous at the top! I love that I can meet new people just by walking out of my dorm room!
Academic Rigor The professors mostly require essay type tests and expect a lot from their students, but it pushes me to learn more and study harder. I love that the school requires religious courses for all majors.
Tips for prospective students If you are majoring in religion studies or biblical studies this is a great school for you! The professors are very helpful and motivational. I love living on campus, but the student body is so small that it's a challenge to meet new people often.
In three sentences Good school for religion studies or music program. Not enough resources for other majors, such as criminal justice. The atmosphere is clean, fun, and safe and I really enjoy the pureness of the student life.

Categories Comments Campus Safety I feel safe on this campus. I know that there are always those who break rules, but I have not heard of too many problems on the DBU campus.
Great for these types of students All types of students. I will address returning adults since that is my category. The schedules can be 1 night a week, a combination of online and in class alternating weekly, all day Saturday, once a month, and many other options. The schedles offered makes it much easier for returning adults to fit into their lifestyle. I also travel for work so the hybrid classes have been great for me. I can schedule my trips during weeks I have on line classes and keep up with my course load while traveling.
Bang for the buck I selected DBU to be able to recoup some hours earned previously attending college and to be able to obtain credit for work based knowledge and petitioning for credit. I was able to obtain 18 credit hours in one semester. this was a lot of work but well worth the effort and saved a lot of tuition.
What to do for fun Since I am an adult student and currently work 40 hours and go to school, I usually participate in required events on campus.
Food and Dining I have only eaten at the dining facilities for commuters. Grilled foods and healthier choices are available.
Dorm Life I am a commuter student. However there is a variety dormitory or on campus living styles from apartments to traditional dorms.
Academic Rigor The classes academic rigor varies with each teacher. They expect the students to make every effort to attend class and turn in assignments on time. Most teachers offer accessibility for aid. There is a math and writing lab and tutors offered for additional help.
Tips for prospective students DBU offers a variety of schedules to meet the needs of their students. Advisors are very helpful in helping students from first semester through graduation.
In three sentences Dallas Baptist is a diversified university basically proportioned to 1/3 traditional students, 1/3 international students, and 1/3 returning adult students. The campus is beautiful on top of a hill that overlooks a lake.

Categories Comments Campus Safety DBU has a top-notched security staff that keep students alerted to any dangerous situation through timely texts, emails, and phone calls.
What to do for fun Residence Life always has various activities scheduled on campus such as hot-dog eating contests, co-ed sports, etc.
Food and Dining The food is excellent. There are a variety of venues on campus with various kinds of food for everyone. The cafeteria is buffet style and contains places for made to order grilled food (ex. hamburgers, sub-sandwiches), Italian, Mexican, desserts, etc.
Dorm Life Residence is great because there are plenty of weekly activities from sports, contests, concerts, retreats, etc.
Academic Rigor The academic rigor at DBU is top notch. The entrance requirements for both the undergraduate and graduate programs are rigorous. They use the national test scores from the ACT, SAT, GRE, GMAT, and the MAT as a measure of academic aptitude.
Tips for prospective students If you are looking for a solid education, Christian atmosphere, and a gorgeous campus then DBU is for you.
In three sentences DBU is an excellent school for academic training. DBU is not just Christian in name only, but the Christianity that is displayed is authentic. The professors are genuine and the small class sizes are a huge plus.

Categories Comments Great for these types of students DBU is perfect for the Christ-following student that is seeking to make his/her academic life about more than just academics. If you want to immerse yourself in a community of faith, this is the place for you. Prepare for your spirit to be fed!
Bang for the buck Although tuition is significantly more than a state school, every penny is completely worth it. You definitely get what you pay for in this case. I would take advantage of their large number of scholarship opportunities, as well.
Food and Dining The cafeteria is excellent, and there is now a Starbucks!
Dorm Life They spend a lot of time selecting roommates based off of the personality inventories in the application process.
Academic Rigor There is a healthy balance between focusing on the books and your faith.
Tips for prospective students Start applying for scholarships early, and ask tons of questions. The staff is unbelievably helpful with every part of the application/enrollment process!
In three sentences DBU is an all-around beautiful school. The campus, the people, and the mission all speak for themselves. I love everything this school has to offer!

Categories Comments Campus Safety DBU security is great. They are always on the look out for anything out of the normal. At night, there is someone at the gate checking ID's to make sure only students come on campus.
Great for these types of students If you want to grow in your faith, be pushed by professors that care about you, and have a great staff surrounding you from the day you start to the day you graduate, then this is the place for you.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus DBU is getting a Starbucks on campus in the fall of 2012!
Bang for the buck It's expensive, but it's worth it. They offer a lot of scholarships and aid. You just have to apply and be on top of everything (I'm sure that's the same for other schools).
What to do for fun Run! DBU is a great running trail. They campus is beautiful and they put a lot of time into making sure the campus life is great.
Food and Dining It's college, so your mom probably makes better food, but DBU does offer a lot of different options, which is great.
Dorm Life Crowley is the best! The dorms are kind of old, but they are great. DBU will help you with anything.
Academic Rigor You will have some professors that will push you, but they only do that because they love you and want to make you a stronger student.
Tips for prospective students If you are a girl, live in the Crowley dorm! It was the best dorm and I met so many people there.
In three sentences I love DBU. The professors are so great and they actually care about you and your goals. The school wants to see you do well and go on to bigger things.

Categories Comments Campus Safety I feel 100% safe. People hardly lock their doors here and will leave their purse in the classroom. The Honor Code is widely used throughout campus, we just trust people here.
Greek Life Greek Life seems fun but is not super relevant in campus social life.
Clubs and Activities There are many clubs and activities including Greek Life, however, if you are not a participant it isn't a big deal. Greek Life seems fun but is not super relevant in campus social life.
Great for these types of students Studious. Friendly. Religious.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus Mr. Big Chief Contest is a male talent show during the Fall semester, and from what I hear, it is hilarious.
Bang for the buck Though I initially thought that tuition was pricey, there are so many free services that are included in tuition. I definitely feel taken care of and that the teachers are happy to help. Computer lab will fix your computer for you free of charge. Tutoring is free. Apartment Life will repair/ fix any problems for you for free (within reason). The gym and the shuttle service is also included in tuition.
What to do for fun Everyone is very active here, so far I have seen many people use the Pool and Volleyball/Tennis courts. Many people attend the school events (more so than I would have thought). Also, people like dancing here- going two-stepping at Cowboys or Billybobs. Sometimes we go Uptown Dallas for fancy dinner and shopping. Sorry, that's not much detail but I'm usually here studying. No Joke.
Food and Dining Personally, I enjoy the food offered at the Cafeteria and at the Patriot Cafe. Salad wraps, Breakfast Soft Taco's, and Mexican Taco Bowls are the best. They have a wide variety and WILL modify the menu for an individual who has any allergies or special food requirements. If you are gluten-free, vegan, or fried-food only, you will be taken care of.
Dorm Life Townhome/Apartment Life is wonderful. My friends said that living in Dorms as a Freshman was awful.
Academic Rigor As a Transfer Junior, I was still required to take Survey of Old Testament and Survey of New Testament as graduation requirements. These are Freshman courses and were very easy. Upper level courses are challenging but nowhere near as difficult as some of my Community College courses.
Tips for prospective students If you are planning on living on campus, make sure you get all of your inoculations and health requirements done ASAP so you are able to apply for Apartment Life EARLY (Townhomes, Apartments, and Dorms fill up very fast). I do suggest keeping your vehicle if you have one, as DBU campus is rather secluded if transportation is by foot. Lastly, if you are serious about your education and faith then this school is an excellent choice; however, if you still intend on drinking or smoking you best live off campus or apply somewhere else (they're really serious about any rule violations- it will lead to immediate expulsion in most cases)
In three sentences DBU campus is a clean, friendly, fun atmosphere. This college is more quaint than I had imagined, however, this has been beneficial to me as I have been able to get to know my teachers and freely ask them for help. I especially enjoy the sense of community here, and being able to express my faith in God freely.

Categories Comments Campus Safety There are police that are always on the guide for you and if you are scared to walk to class you could always call them and they would love to walk you to your room or to a class or anything and the campus is locked up after a certain time and everything is within walking distance or at least to all of your classes
Greek Life there are many choices that you could be a part of.
Clubs and Activities athletic sports that are division 2 except for baseball which is division 1. There are intramural and would get you involved with meeting new people. There are also bible studies and choir stuff for music people to join and can sing at chapel.
Great for these types of students anyone but its a baptist school.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus SWAT, but its a fun experience where you get to just hang out with freshman class and other people which would lead to meeting friends that are even older than you as well.
Bang for the buck The beautiful scenery you could just sit outside and just look at everything that is within your circumference.
What to do for fun You could just walk around campus and at night you could go to the volleyball courts or the basketball courts and enjoy some sports there is intramural you could play or you could just hang out with friends in anywhere.
Food and Dining Its filled with different things and its never the same thing within many of the things that you would like and there are a variety of stations to choose from to eat.
Dorm Life Its always filled with something fun to do and the rooms are great filled with people that are happy and enjoy everything that goes on in the rooms.
Academic Rigor Its filled with teachers that would help you if you need anything and you could always go and talk to them after class or during class or going to there office.
Tips for prospective students Come and visit and acknowledge the beautiful scenery and all the great people that go to this beautiful school.
In three sentences Its a beautiful location with a vision of many beautiful things surrounding the campus. The people here are always nice and well care for you. This place has filled me with happiness from the day i visit to now and it would always bring me joy especially if i make new friends.

Categories Comments Campus Safety It is very safe; there are always security cars driving around checking to make sure that everything is in order. The security guards also have very good attitudes, but know what needs to be done.
Clubs and Activities There are always opportunities for things to do on campus and the school makes sure that the students are as up to date as they can be about these events.
What to do for fun On campus there are a variety of choices of things to do for fun. There are pianos in some lobbies that groups can get together and make music together, and there are a sum of different courts and fields to play pick up games.
Food and Dining It's pretty good. The workers are all very sweet, and the food is well prepared. There is always a variety of things to pick from which offers a student the option of almost whatever they are craving.
Dorm Life It's a great experience. I wouldn't trade it. The Resident Assistants in change of the halls will do literally anything they can do to help a student. No matter the hour, they are there to help you in any way they can. And better than anything, they help you with a genuine heart.
Academic Rigor It can be hard, but the teachers are very good about helping you if you ask ahead of time. As long as a student prioritizes in their schedule, then they should have no problem. There is writing centers, math centers and science tutor, etc.
Tips for prospective students Make sure you are looking for scholarships and keeping your grades up. Grades come first, and if you want to get involved then it is very easy, but sometimes that requires putting yourself out there.
In three sentences The college is very good about offering a lot of opportunities to get involved. It's an absolutely gorgeous campus, and the people are very sweet. I would recommend it to many seeking a christian influence for while they receive their degree.

Great for these types of students Great for students interested in missionary/ministry work, educators, and those interested in the music field.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus Has a lot of natural scenery such as ponds with ducks and little creeks.
Bang for the buck A bit pricey, but i have not heard one regret from any former students. I know around 20
What to do for fun DBU has a pool table, ping pong, and a foos ball table if you like that. If not, there is a pool for swimming. There are plenty of musicians on campus if you just want to sit and chill.
Food and Dining A whole lot better than high school food.
Dorm Life The RA's (Resident Advisers) for each hall truly want to get to know each student. They will sit down with you, just to chat. No partying in dorms, being a private Christian university; but we still have fun.
Academic Rigor Mandatory attendance of 75% for any given class or credit will not be given.
Tips for prospective students Not too cheap, but great education and music/music business programs.
In three sentences Great Christ-centered environment and very biblicaly based foundations. A lot of opportunities and programs students of any grade level can get involved involved in. All in all, a open place which makes students feel welcome and valued.

Categories Comments Campus Safety Extremely safe! Police and campus security do a great job of keeping everyone protected.
Greek Life Greek life is different here too, but different in a good way. The different fraternities and sororities give back to a certain group or organization.
Clubs and Activities Tons of clubs and organizations to be a part of especially if the school is far from home.
Bang for the buck Worth every single dime.
What to do for fun Play volleyball, go to the student center, sit outside, go to the park or any of the sports fields.
Food and Dining Food is ok. The best things to eat are pizza and burgers for dinner. Breakfast is pretty good too and they have a really nice sandwhich bar in the cafeteria.
Dorm Life The dorms are great. Really dorm life depends on what hall you are living in and your resident assistant as well as the people on your floor and your roommate.
Academic Rigor It all depends on the teacher and the class and how well you study and apply yourself.
Tips for prospective students Wear comfortable shoes because the school is on a hill and wearing high heels are exactly practical and then there are a lot of stairs too so just make sure you are comfortable.

Categories Comments Campus Safety The security team here is top-notch and they really make sure everyone is safe!
Greek Life The greek life here is barely respectable in my opinion. All of the sororities and fraternities are in-house fraternities meaning they are not even nationally known. On the upside, I've heard they are fun to be a part of, but for those students who are looking to buffer their resume with a greek fraternity, it's not worth it.
Clubs and Activities I am a biology major, and there is only one activity I can be involved in that will look good for my resume to medical school.
Great for these types of students It's great for students who are really looking for more fortification to their faith. Also, it's very good for music business and education majors.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus Most of the traditions on campus are direct renditions of traditions other schools have. This school does not have many DBU-specific traditions.
What to do for fun DBU Student life hosts one major event each month and there are a lot of sports games you can go to. Overall, however, there is not much to do compared to a bigger university or state school.
Tips for prospective students Make sure DBU is where you want to go before you come here. Many of their classes don't transfer and I am having trouble currently because my Biology and chemistry classes are having trouble transferring.
In three sentences DBU is a great school. The campus is beautiful and the faculty truly cares about their student's progress, however sometimes I feel like the students here don't care much about each other.

Dorm Life There are a lot of rules that you have to stick with, but if you can see past them you can really live happily there.
Academic Rigor Some of the classes are hard because of the liberal arts name we have. There are also some professors that no one wants to get stuck with, but my overall experience has been fantastic with classes and school work.
Tips for prospective students Try to get the basics out of the way first thing! But don't blow off your school work because it will always bite you in the butt.
In three sentences DBU is one of the best schools I visited in the Dallas area. It is quiet and calm, but there is a lot of opportunity for you to get out there and meet people. The rules can be difficult to work with sometimes, but they are for our safety!

Categories Comments Campus Safety I feel safe knowing that campus security is riding around checking. They even shhut down the campus when there was a shooting at another campus which wasn't even near our campus. CUDOS to that.
Clubs and Activities This campus offers many clubs and activities. No-one will ever be left out regardless of race or religion.
What to do for fun I play my online games. They are very relaxing when I'm stress from studying. I also spend time with my family and we go minature golfing when the weather is nice.
Food and Dining The food is good and the dining rooms are kept clean as well. I have to budget myself from time to time.
Dorm Life I don't live on campus. I'm sure it's lovely because you don't have to worry about parking because you're already there.
Tips for prospective students Stay in contact with your professors when issues come up and don't hesitate to contact your advisor as well. Plan ahead and keep one calendar to keep track of assignments and other projects.
In three sentences I am rating this to be a very clean campus. It's expensive but you can't put a price on your education or health. I love that God is the center of our studies.

Categories Comments Campus Safety There are campus security officers as well as Dallas Police officers patrolling campus and there is a security gate and fencing all around the campus. They will escort you to your car at night if you ask, and they are more than willing to help with dead batteries or flat tire changings.
Greek Life Joining one of the Greek Life organizations affords you the chance to explore exclusive learning opportunities through fellowship, service, ministry, discipleship, leadership, and academic support programs. You will be challenged in all aspects to achieve excellence in your life and through your affiliation with your fraternity or sorority. The purpose of these Greek organizations is the holistic personal development of each member, with primary focus on the spiritual maturation of the student in his or her walk with the Lord.
Clubs and Activities They have clubs for accounting, art, communications, counseling, music, pre-law and they have a club called Grammy U for the music students that allows access to Recording Academy membership and the chances to meet a few famous musicians.
Great for these types of students Great for all types of students, including adult students and international students. The people who go to this school are all very friendly and helpful.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus They overlook Mountain Creek Lake and the landscaping throughout the campus is absolutely beautiful. They have fantastic gazebos to sit in and study while enjoying some fresh air.
Bang for the buck The classes are expensive but the professors are worth it because they have infectious interest in the subjects they teach.
What to do for fun The baseball games are fun to watch, the Symposiums are informative and interesting and their choir is fantastic.
Food and Dining The Patriot Cafe makes the best burgers and fries I've ever had.
Dorm Life I didn't live in a dorm. I'm an older student.
Academic Rigor The classes were tougher than community college and when you pass a class, you know that you have earned it. Some assignments are hard to get through but you'll know the subject by the end of the semester.
Tips for prospective students Never be afraid to ask for help. Go to class as often as you possibly can, and take advantage of their awesome library.
In three sentences Dallas Baptist University is a fantastic place to get your degree. The professors know their subjects and are willing to help in any way when you are struggling. The Financial Aid department is also very helpful when you need to find money for school.

Categories Comments Campus Safety The security on campus is really great. It is 24/7 and there is a curfew at 1 during school nights and 2 on the weekends. You must have your student ID with you at all times, especially if you come after curfew onto campus, otherwise you may encounter some trouble.
Greek Life Greek Life at DBU is different from other schools. Since DBU is a Christian University, the Greek frats and sororities have set goals and activities to do all year round. There is this one activity which the groups do called Spring Sing: each group has to perform songs for about 15 min each, the songs are normally edited to contain certain phrases or words for their chosen theme.
Clubs and Activities There are many clubs such as the Student Government Body and sports clubs. Throughout the year there are many organized sport events that one can join such as flag football, soccer, ultimate, and these are also co-ed sports. There are other clubs like OLAS (Organization of Latin American Students), and other groups created by people of all ethnic cultures.
Great for these types of students If you love Music/Music Business or Christian/Biblical studies, then this school is practically made for you. There are many opportunities to get plugged in with music events and concerts too. If you are trying to get a degree in Christian/Biblical studies, then practically anything done at DBU is available for you.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus It's not really an unusual tradition, but one thing we have at DBU is Hall Wars. It is a dodge ball tournament held for the residents of the dorms, both guys and girls compete in this against their gender. Every incoming student has to live in the dorm so everyone gets to participate in this event.
Bang for the buck There are many perks one gets for attending DBU. The cost is up there though, since DBU is a private university the cost is around 40 grand a year. If one takes advantage of the services and facilities given at DBU then one will get the bang for the buck they expect.
What to do for fun There various activities to do at DBU like attending many concerts that are done at the quad and most of the time there is free Chick-fil-a out there too. Throughout the week, there are many sports going on, such as open court for basketball lovers, and there are two rec fields where soccer players and ultimate frisbee players and many other sports lovers can go crazy. There is a student loft for a place to hang with friends and just relax and take a break from school too.
Food and Dining The food at DBU can be both good and bad sometimes. There is a cafeteria which is buffet style so one can have pretty much anything. Whenever a certain holiday approaches, the food begins to change and may even be somehow linked with it too, such as Cinco de Mayo: Tex-Mex food, but overall, the food at DBU is ok and won't kill you.
Dorm Life The dorm life at DBU is incredible no matter what gender you may be. The dorms have resident assistants that are constantly busy with keeping you entertained with awesome activities such as rock climbing, camping trips, bowling events and much more! One cannot have a bad experience in the dorms, one may even want to live in the dorms throughout their college experience.
Academic Rigor The classes are all taught by teachers who love their subject. There are amazing teachers who are willing to help you with anything, and there are also many tutoring and helping centers available for students if you have trouble with some material. Overall, the study at DBU will prepare you greatly for whatever major you decide to go for.
Tips for prospective students Be prepared to attend many theological courses. They are not hard, but they do help with the development of you career no matter what it may be. Some courses you may have to take due to scholarships given to you are Intro to Christian ministry, Foundations for Excellence, and Developing a Christian Mindset.
In three sentences Dallas Baptist University is a great Christ centered school for both Christians and non-Christians attending. They have a focus which is shown across the campus by the students and even statues: servant leadership. On a scale of 1-10, I believe DBU is a 10 because of the goal and mission the school has and is effectively executing.

Categories Comments Bang for the buck While DBU is a little on the expensive side, they are great about offering scholarships. The financial aid office will work with you to get award money and to maybe take a little off tuition. I frequently receive emails through my school email about potential scholarships I can apply for.
What to do for fun DBU is very close to Dallas and Arlington. There are tons of great things to do off-campus that are very close to the school.
Dorm Life The dorms are great. Spence Hall especially is like living in a hotel. It's great! The RAs are awesome, and living on campus is so fun!
Academic Rigor DBU's academics are great. We are known for our education program, which is one of the best in the country. The professors really want you to succeed and love to know you are doing well.
Tips for prospective students Make sure that you do well on your SATs or ACTs. It is also helpful if you have a strong involvement in church so you can get the Christian Leadership Scholarship, which helped me be able to attend DBU.
In three sentences DBU is a fantastic school. It is challenging academically and strongly promotes servant leadership. Jesus is definitely the center of the university, and the students' faith is rooted and grounded in God's Word.
