Tips for prospective students	College is definitely a time to expand your horizons. Have fun, but make smart decisions. DePaul makes it easy to stay on the right track, and even when you fall off, there's plenty of ways the people here can help. But it's always up to the student to be responsible, at any school. Aim for success, and know that the people at DePaul will be right behind you supporting you.
Bang for the buck	Yes, private schools get expensive. And DePaul is no exception. I never thought I'd be able to afford any private college, but the Financial Aid Office is there to help, and they make sure they do everything they can for everybody who asks for help. With grants, loans, scholarships, etc. they make DePaul affordable for pretty much anybody. And like I said in the previous section, the experience is priceless.
Am enjoying being here	I've just completed my first year at DePaul, and I've already had the time of my life. Schoolwork got tough, but it all worked out in the end and I was able to enjoy college life. I've made some great friends, have an awesome job on-campus (which is fairly easy to get -- if you're looking for a job, apply for student center crew!!), and the whole experience is absolutely priceless.
Am learning a lot	It's probably easy for most people to slack off in classes, but once you start it's hard to break those bad habits. If you keep your head in the game and prioritize, your classwork at DePaul should be no sweat. Advisers will place you in classes that will challenge you, but that you will be able to keep up with as well. Aside from the classroom though, I'm learning a lot about myself, my friends, and different communities and lifestyles. Chicago is a great place for a classroom. There's always something more to learn, especially when you're in the city.

Great for these types of students	This college is the ideal place to complete your education. In the center of Chicago, the opportunities are endless. It is exciting to be fully indulged in the business/professional life from the start of your higher education. So, if a student is pursuing business, arts, or technology, DePaul has the connections and city involvement to make your future flourish.
Tips for prospective students	DePaul University has such a high-quality alumni connection, and finding a job is almost inevitable. My current employer was a graduate of DePaul looking to help out a fellow student. I highly recommend jumping into the city life head first and embracing all the networking available.
Bang for the buck	Because it is a private university, I feel as though prices are escalated for the name. It is hard for me to get my head wrapped around the idea of paying 400/course for a required Liberal Arts course that does not apply to my major. However, the quality of professors and education is hard to beat.
Am enjoying being here	The campus was incredibly easy to navigate and I immediately felt like I was a part of the community. The concept of freshman is non-existent at DePaul. Everyone is on the same page and the instructions and steps to success are mapped out perfectly to get students on the right path.
Am learning a lot	I have just recently transferred to DePaul University in June of this year. I have taken 3 summer classes and found I am able to graduate almost 6 months early due to the University's flexible and accomodating class requirements. In three months I have been able to get a jump start on my education. Despite the larger classes, the professors provide ample time to get in touch. I feel like they are just as dedicated to my success as I am.

Great for these types of students	People who love fast-paced city life. DePaul's business school is by far the most popular on campus, and arguably the highest quality of all the colleges within the University.
Tips for prospective students	Realize that there is a lot to be learned not only in the class room, but from the university and the city. Make your experience worth it and get involved, explore the city (safely) and take advantage of every opportunity- remember you are only here for 4 years, and this is your chance.
Bang for the buck	Face it: DePaul is not a state school. The price for a private school is competitive, and you must also keep in mind that it's in downtown Chicago. You are definitely paying a premium for the city, but it is worth it. Better value than other private schools in the city.
Am enjoying being here	I never doubt that I made the absolute best decision when I chose DePaul. I love the city life, the students, and the classes. The classes are great because the teachers are amazing (as long as you check them out on RateMyProfessor!) and the class sizes are small. You are forced to participate in many of your classes because they are not lecture halls.
Am learning a lot	Going from AP classes in High School to Honors Accounting classes here was rather similar. If you were a strong student in High School, you will do well here if you keep up the same work ethic. Most of the things I have learned here have been from outside the classroom.

Great for these types of students	American citizens (for financial reasons, that's all, but also because the international student body is VERY small) Don't need to have financial worries Knows how to be independent (since you're living in a large city) Be independent enough to know how to steer your own academic route in case you end up with a bad teacher. Have a really strong will power. With this quality you can learn so much from a bad teacher! Somewhat social, in that you like getting involved in either school or city resources (and I don't mean social party.. I really mean getting involved around school events and leadership). I'm making this particular point just because it really helps with making the best out of your college life.
Tips for prospective students	One of my biggest regrets while in high school was focusing too much on my college research on: reputation of school, cost, international student body and location. I neglected the scholarship researches, and the resources availability in the city. Don’t repeat my mistake! Plan everything, from the smallest detail and budgeting. Which dorm is good, is the food good, climate, how much money to spend on clothing because these all eventually add up and you don’t realize it. Pre-plan your college life so that by the end of your first year in college, you will not be in shock of your financial worries. Don’t be in shock of college life, campus, food and city resources. Most importantly, TRY to contact a current student who is currently studying your intended major. Speak to them or leave them a facebook message. They will surely want to help you out and don’t just talk to one person! Speak to at least 3 and then judge the school. Read at least a dozens of reviews of one school, before comparing it to any other of your college choices. Good Luck!
Bang for the buck	Many people in the other reviews have mentioned this, so I will keep it short. It is a private institution, it is expensive. Furthermore, if you are an international student, have luck in trying to find some sort of scholarship because financial aid is not available to international students. If you are in the music school, however, you are almost guaranteed that you will have some sort of scholarship – I believe 100% of all the freshman of the class 2013 got scholarships ranging from $3,000 to $15,000. Financial aid is big for Americans, but international students is very very competitive and hard.
Am enjoying being here	Life in Chicago: Use the resources around you. I cannot stress that enough. There is always something going around in the city and it is not good to be focused to much at in school work and not look around for opportunities. I always practiced in the practice rooms for hours a day and never got to hear about the cool concerts and orchestras that were playing around the city. You learn a lot just by attending events in Chicago. Jazz festivals are so big in this city – don’t miss it out. Both Lincoln Park and Loop campuses are great and offer resources. Use them. Most of it is free. In addition to being a college student, you get a U-Pass, an unlimited time on the L (Chicago’s elevated trains running around the city). Use this to your advantage to go out dining and enjoying deep dish pizza on a Friday night. There’s a great cultural diversity in the city and at DePaul University, so take advantage to that, amazing foods!! Go to the Chicago Cultural Centre often, it’s a great place to hang out and to learn about common cultural knowledge. In addition to making the best out of a college life, is being involved in school. Whether it is being involved with the Catholicism at the University or planning events, it not only improves the school spirit but it also fun and you meet so many people. There are always concerts at the music school, go to those: there are always great sounds coming out of the hallways and practice rooms!
Am learning a lot	I study piano in the school of music. The faculty in general is well reputable in Chicago, but obviously not as known as some faculty members such as at Berklee College of Music or Juilliard. The teachers are excellent performers, although I could argue on some teachers don’t know how to teach effectively. The school of music is very small, with each instrumental studio class being 14 people. Each instrument only has one instructor for private lessons so you don’t have many options on who to study if they’re not very good teachers. However, because of the small size, you don’t feel as stressed out as if you were to attend Juilliard. You have the time to enjoy life. The teachers know what they’re doing, but I feel as though they just want to help you get better, academically, but not as a person. They won’t approach you – you need to seek them. I feel the class sizes have a lot to do with the standards of teaching. On average, most classes are of 25 people – which to me is very big. I came out from a small private high school, where average size was 10. At DePaul, most of my writing classes involved the teacher skimming through your paper and giving a grade, but will not write a paragraph on how you should improve, what to work on, etc. They will simply write “excellent” or “needs improvement”. With that, you don’t have much choice but to seek tutors. In addition, since the class sizes are relatively large, you can sit quietly at the back of the class may not be noticed. One on one attention is very important in personal motivation and growth, which is something I never realized in high school.

Tips for prospective students	Make sure you take advantage of everything that Chicago has to offer. There are so many opportunities that you may drown in them, so keep your head above water and your eyes on your goals.
Bang for the buck	DePaul is pretty expensive, but it has a good name. People usually recognize it and almost immediately credit it with a good name. As far as I know, that means it's worth it.
Am enjoying being here	The campus is great (it's Chicago). I will say that it was a really strange transition coming from such a small town going to such a big city. But once I got used to the public transportation and everything, I couldn't have been more happy.
Am learning a lot	The prerequisite classes are terrible! Any WRD class or anything like that is just garbage. I suggest that if you attend here and have any desire to learn anything you didn't in high school you apply and try as hard as possible to get into the honors classes.

Great for these types of students	Independent, confident, outgoing students who are looking for a non-traditional college experience. DePaul doesn't offer the typical frat party, tailgating college life that many state schools do, but that can get old quickly. What doesn't get old is living in a fantastic, exciting city with so many different opportunities. DePaul is far from typical, however the experiences that you have are so much more unique than any other school.
Tips for prospective students	Apply as early as possible, for everything! DePaul bases their academic scholarships on a first come, first serve basis. Also, if you make your decision early, applying for housing early gives you your best chance at getting the dorm you want, since there is limited housing for students. Apply for financial aid (FAFSA) as early as you can too, because DePaul may give out additional financial aid, even if you do not qualify for federal aid.
Bang for the buck	DePaul is expensive. But don't let that stop you from applying! They tend to be very generous with scholarships for students who challenge themselves and have worked hard in high school. DePaul also offers a lot of financial aid for students in need. The ticket price of DePaul is often much higher than what you end up paying.
Am enjoying being here	I wouldn't want to be anywhere else for college. Chicago is an amazing place to live, and DePaul really incorporates the city well, using it as an effective learning tool. Aside from Chicago, DePaul is in an AWESOME neighborhood, with plenty to do, no matter what you're into, and a gorgeous setting.
Am learning a lot	I have found DePaul to be just challenging enough, but not so difficult I barely have time to sleep. What I really love about DePaul is that it seems as if there is enough down time to spend hours at the library, get all of your work done, and still have time to hang out with friends. The honors program is also a really good way to add a little bit more of a challenge to your education.

Great for these types of students	It is best for the type of student who is not looking for your typical, big state school college experience, although basketball is a pretty big thing here. However, I would most highly suggest it for the artsy type of student because the city campus comes with so many opportunities. In one of my classes, I even got to meet some professional poets. The artistic community is so strong and vibrant here, and I feel that all of the artists are connected. It's always interesting.
Tips for prospective students	Be patient when meeting people and try to get involved. I'm not usually that outgoing, but my efforts did pay off.
Bang for the buck	While DePaul is pricey, they tend to give out a lot of scholarships and helpful with financial assistance. For my film major, I feel like I am getting an especially good deal considering how good our program is and how many opportunities it opens up for students who are willing to put forth the effort.
Am enjoying being here	While it took a while to meet people, probably because of the size of the school, the City is a great place to be once you find a group of people to hang out with. There is always somewhere to go. While there are your typical college parties, there are also shows and restaurants and museums. And if you find the right places, a lot of it is actually super cheap.
Am learning a lot	In the classes that focus on my major, which is digital cinema, I feel that my teachers really know what they are doing. Many of my professors are working filmmakers and even previously taught at USC. However, in my other classes, I almost feel that I am not learning anything that I didn't know already. Although I guess that is to be expected with required, entry-level Freshman courses.

Great for these types of students	DePaul is a great college for students who enjoy learning about many different things and who are not always focused on one subject.
Tips for prospective students	For those who are thinking of attending DePaul sometime in the future, my advice is to enjoy yourself, and not take everything too seriously. It truly is a fun and laid-back school where you can find yourself and your interests, and you will also find others who share that same interest. Also, attend on-campus events; it makes the college experience much more fun.
Bang for the buck	Going to this school is well worth the money. If you are looking to really learn even while taking prerequisite courses, this school's for you. Another plus is having fun while you learn, there are no huge or gigantic classes with a millions students. You can get your professor's attention.
Am enjoying being here	DePaul is one of the funnest schools to be at. Not only is it near Chicago (party central), but Lincoln Park has many different venues that can pique anyone's interest. There are so many clubs to join, and I have met many nice people that I can't imagine not talking to.
Am learning a lot	The DePaul University professors are incredibly generous people that try their best to help out. Any professor that I have encountered is eager to provide help or advice to those who need it. It's just a very nice school that is well worth the price, and the education levels are diverse, but everyone learns the same; it's very easy to get good grades here.

Great for these types of students	I think the students who love DePaul the most are those who love the Urban lifestyle that it has to offer! Also, those who love to give back to their community. :)
Tips for prospective students	DePaul is on the quarter system, meaning you would have finals 3 times a year instead of 2 times. It takes time to get used to but it's not so bad. Also, take advantage of your resources! From things like the writing center, to your Chicago Quarter Mentor, all these things are there to help you succeed at DePaul!
Bang for the buck	This school is a bit pricey, but you will enjoy every minute of it. One of the things I've noticed about private universities compared to public universities, is that professors have spend more time with the individual student. Instead of being in HUGE lecture halls, the maximum amount of students in your class will most likely be 40 students.
Am enjoying being here	There is never a night where there isn't something to do on or off campus here. The DePaul Activites Board, offers numerous free events throughout the year. Another thing about DePaul, is the location its located in; its a 15 minute el ride away from the heart of Chicago!
Am learning a lot	DePaul is an amazing University. The professors care a LOT about your experience while you are here. If you are having trouble in a class, they are willing to meet with you and help you with whatever you need help with. Also, one of the BEST things about DePaul, is the writing center. It honestly helps you become a better writer along with giving you ideas with your paper.

Great for these types of students	you like upper class urban? then this is your school.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus	there's fest, a type of on campus concert with big name venues.
Bang for the buck	it gets very expensive, so stack up those grants and scholarships.
What to do for fun	they have video gaming clubs to movie watching clubs. if you are in to a social scene, lincoln park is a good neighborhood to socialize.
Food and Dining	good food, but if you are like me and don't have a meal plan there are good food joints near by.
Dorm Life	i wouldn't know, i live off campus.
Academic Rigor	its tough, but a good tough. its not impossible. however, the requirement classes may be difficult if the subject is not your main forte (chemistry for example...i dislike that i need a science class despite being in political science)
Tips for prospective students	don't party often! the academics are easier when you just do the work. prioritizing will make everything easier and give you plenty of time to work and play. also, don't obligate yourself to too many jobs. college is your focus. you can always make a schedule that is reasonable with your time as i have (i always have time for homework). only if you are completely irresponsible will it be hard.
In three sentences	there is a good academic experience with fair grading. there are plenty of opportunities for better advancement. the advisors are really helpful.

Tips for prospective students	Definitely go visit the school to see if you like the campuses. Make sure to send in AP, ACT, SAT scores. Also, if you have done a lot of community service there is a scholarship that you can apply for through DePaul because they are very into community service. Check on their website to see which scholarships you have to apply for and which ones you automatically apply for when you send in your college application. Like I said, DePaul is very into community service because that is a huge part of the history and foundation of the school.
Bang for the buck	DePaul is an expensive school. Most schools are these days. They do accept AP credits so make sure to send them to DePaul. One thing that is a major plus at DePaul is that unlike some colleges and universities, where teachers assistants teach more than the actual professors, all of DePaul's classes are taught by the actual professor. You get the opportunity to be taught by people who care about the subject and want you to get the most out of the class. The cost is worth it.
Am enjoying being here	Being at DePaul gives you great access to the fantastic city of Chicago. The U-Pass gives you unlimited rides on the CTA trains and buses, allowing you to get virtually anywhere in the city. There is always something going on in the city for everyone to experience and there is always something happening on campus as well. Lincoln Park is home to many fantastic restaurants, many of which are open late for the students. It is a great place to live.
Am learning a lot	DePaul operates on a quarter system and each quarter is 11 weeks long. Therefore, it is extremely important not to procrastinate and stay on top of your work. You really have to learn great time management skills to succeed and they stay with you and carry over into the work world in the long run. The classes are fantastic and the professors are passionate about what they are teaching and do their best to make class interesting. DePaul has a wide array of class topics that really gives everyone a chance to learn about something they are interested in, while meeting a requirement.

Tips for prospective students	1. Apply early for everything, aside from your application for the school, remember to apply for FAFSA, housing, and your courses because the good classes always go first. 2. Don't be afraid to ask questions. Ask the school about the program they offer for your major, or ask other students their opinions on the school. 3. Take a school tour if you wish. I did not and I still loved it, but it may be helpful so that you know more of less about the area and know which buildings you can have class in, find food, or meet with advisors. 4. Keep on top of your work at all times. 10 weeks will fly by quickly and with everything going on in the city and on campus it is easy to get distracted. However, there is always time for you to get back on track and there are people who will help you when you are struggling. 5. Have fun! There is too much going on at DePaul and in Chicago for you to not enjoy yourself and get the most out of your college experience. DePaul is a great place to be and is filled with happy and helpful people.
Bang for the buck	I absolutely love DePaul but it is of course a little pricey to attend because it is a private school. There are various scholarships that the school offers and you are automatically entered when you send in your application and if you do receive them they are extremely helpful. While I worry about how to pay back my loans, I know that the education I am receiving here is one of the best and is something that I could not have received if I stayed home in Atascosa. The experience I am gaining by being here and the knowledge I am earning that will be able to help me in my future makes every dollar I have spent worth it.
Am enjoying being here	If I could rate this 20 stars I would! I am loving being here at DePaul and in Chicago. Coming from a small town like Atascosa, Texas I was unsure what to expect when I came to the big city, but everyone at DePaul has been so helpful in acquainting me and the other non-Chicagoan students with the city. First year students are required to take an explore or discover Chicago course in which they study one particular aspect of Chicago by taking class trips and independently researching their topics to make them more familiar with the history and amazingness that is Chicago. The staff and faculty at DePaul are very helpful and have an honest desire to see all students succeed. There is an endless amount of resources open to any and all students, and as previously mentioned professors are always willing to help. As far as activities on campus, there is a myriad of different groups, activities, and events. From basketball games to gospel choir to workout dance parties at the Rey, there is something for everyone at DePaul and there is always something going on, there is never a dull weekend around here.
Am learning a lot	The education I have received thus far here at DePaul far exceeded my expectations. I knew coming into the school that I would receive an education far superior to that of any other school I applied to. Since we are on the quarter system (10 weeks plus a finals week), courses are jam packed with information. However, the professors know the right way to teach all of the vital information to students and are always willing to help struggling students outside of class. I never wanted to miss a class because there was always something new to learn each time. I will admit, the courses I have taken/am taking are extremely challenging but they are honestly helping to make me a well rounded student. The courses that are required for a degree from DePaul educate students not only in their major but in various other subjects that will help them be more versatile and knowledgeable about the rest of the world as well.

Great for these types of students	City lovers, small class room size lovers, Chicago lovers. My parting shot here is that Depaul has a zero tolerance for drinking. People who like to get drunken crazy and reenact Animal House, sorry Depaul isn't your school. I don't know of anyone who got punished but it is in the rules that underage drinking is punishable.
Tips for prospective students	I think I can specialize in this category since I'm not too far removed from the application process (Remember I'm a sophomore). 1) It's best if you ask students that attend Depaul. Ask questions like what programs Depaul specializes in, the costs of Depaul, the professors in Depaul. 2) While not as good as 1, check online. This site, college prowler, even yelp can give you a gauge in whether Depaul is the right college for you. Always keep this in mind because even if you can make it into Harvard, at the end of the day you have to ask yourself if you want to spend your precious time at a school that may or may not be compatible for you. 3) Keep up your grades....senior year isn't ever, so keep up your momentum. Because that momentum will carry over into college.
Bang for the buck	Depaul is expensive. It really all depends on what you want to major in. But if you want a general idea: Housing is around $10,000. So factor this in with the instate tuition, which is around $23,000 and whatever the outstate tuition is. The price is justifiable because 1) The gym facility is good. Spacious, filled with TVs, free weights, weight machines, swimming pool, etc. 2) The internet use is pretty fast. 3) Small class space. I may be blinded by other students' plight, since I am in the honors program. But from what I've seen it's usually 20-40 students per class. This means your professor can give you more attention, as opposed to the 200+ member class commonly seen in state schools. Once again the downside is the professors. If you're unlucky to have a snarling professor that likes tormenting his/her students. You may be in trouble. Fail the class and you're essentially flushing money down the toilet.
Am enjoying being here	Overall the students here are in the middle. You'll find some stuck up students, some that are really friendly, but in the end it all balances out so there's nothing too special about the people here. Depaul is located in Chicago, which can be a hit or a miss. I like it here because it's a city environment, not in a middle of nowhere town. I guess you might not like Chicago for it's high tax rate (highest in nation). Last but not least, there are the professors. For the most part, the professors I had were pretty good. Even though I'm not religious, the religion class I had to take for my major was fair. To clarify, it was a tough class but the professor didn't force me to profess my love for God. Unfortunately, I have heard of nightmarish professors from friends. I guess that's my only complaint about Depaul; the fact that uncaring professors can keep their jobs while students get the short end of the stick.
Am learning a lot	I'm currently a sophomore, so I haven't had as many classes as a junior or a senior. But I can say that my liberal requirement classes (eg Philosophy, Rhetoric, States and Markets) has made me into a superb writer. Great for these types of students	I think that DePaul is great for students that like a more laid back kind of school. Now, its not laid back in the sense that you don't do anything, but the teachers are not uptight, the scheduling isn't difficult to work with, and the material isn't so difficult that its impossible to learn. Everything here works with the needs of everyone else, and because it's not snobbish here and more laid back, you're able to enjoy being in college. Everyone here is different: different races, ethnicities, genders, orientations, majors- you name it we have it. Everyone feels welcome here, and I'm sure that you would too if you came to even just visit.
Tips for prospective students	First off, if you can do an overnight, please do it. The point of them is for you to get a feel of what the campus is like, what kind of activities take place on campus, and you can meet current students while seeing what its like living in a dorm. You get a chance to talk to students and ask them their opinions on the school, AND at the end of it you get to sit in on a class, allowing you to see what college classes are like, and you get a chance to talk to a professor. Another tip I would give, is that if you have a chance to live on campus, TAKE IT! I met some of the best friends I will ever have doing this, and not to mention that it cuts down on travel time and gives you a chance to really take advantage of activities that are offered on campus and get involved in classes (professors, research projects, etc). Another tip that I would give, is to not be afraid or intimidated to get involved on campus. Even though it might be the middle or end of the school year (or even your last year at the school), its never too late to join an activity or club. I joined the clubs and organizations I did later in my college career because I didn't know what to expect. I wish that I had joined sooner, because I've gotten more than I could've wanted from them. Finally, don't be afraid of the greek community here! I just joined a sorority, and I absolutely love it- rush, and if you don't like it, then don't join, but keep in mind that we're planning on adding another sorority next year!
Bang for the buck	I've heard about other schools that are the same price as here, and from what I've heard, this school is definitely worth the price of enrollment. Because you actually get a good education here, I don't think that the price is too bad. Also, given the fact that you're in the middle of Chicago, and included in tuition is a UPass (unlimited public transportation pass), in addition to on campus activities, public safety, and the recreation center's membership- just to name a few. Its a great price for what you get out of this institution.
Am enjoying being here	At DePaul, there are two campuses: the Lincoln Park Campus and the Loop campus. Since we're in the middle of Chicago you would think that it would be a big school- you would be wrong. The Lincoln Park Campus is about 4-5 blocks in radius, making everything super close to each other (eliminating travel time and distance) and allowing you to see familiar faces every day. In addition to this campus, you have the Loop campus, set in the middle of the Chicago Loop. Here, there's about 3-4 buildings that make it up, but you mainly stay in one building depending on your major. The thing that drew me to this school was the size of the actual campus. Because of this, you get to utilize the whole school (not just parts that pertain to your major) and you also get a better chance of meeting people! In short: I absolutely love this school, the people, AND the professors. Honestly, if I had a chance to pick a college again, I would still pick DePaul.
Am learning a lot	Since I've been here, there isn't a class that I have missed. I've gone to every session because I know that there is always something that I will learn. The structure of the classes here is about 60% lecture based (meaning a professor lectures) and 40% seminar based (discussion oriented teaching). I like that you get a mixture of both kinds of learning here, get to hear other students' opinions, and also get to know them through projects and small student-teacher ratios. I think that being able to know the professors and not get lost in crowds allows you to learn a lot more than you would think.

Great for these types of students	DePaul is good for people who like small class settings and like to participate (especially those planning to enroll in the Honors program). It's also good for people that like the big city life. It be exciting, because there's always something going on in Chicago.
Tips for prospective students	Apply early! DePaul has an Early Action program with a deadline in mid-November and they will notify you by mid-December. This way you get top consideration for scholarships and financial aid. After the Early Action deadline, they look at applications as they come in (rolling) until February. The biggest mistake that I made when applying to DePaul was sending my application in the last day possible. It's more important that they get your application than all your transcripts and test scores.
Bang for the buck	I wish DePaul would be less expensive and give more financial aid. If you're a freshman, you can sometimes get lucky with the financial aid office and they'll cover your tuition and mandatory fees. But you usually have to be a good student or musician. Otherwise you would have to demonstrate a lot of financial need. Still, DePaul has been raising the funding for their scholarships and they award scholarships for students who graduated from a Chicago Public School, artists, actors, and those involved in community service. Dorming usually is the cost that contributes most to the high cost of attending this university. The expenses of living on campus are high and Lincoln Park is known for its expensive housing. If you live in Chicago and are willing to commute, I think DePaul is a very good choice. All students pay $60 per quarter (3 quarters or 33 weeks per quarter) for a Upass that gives them unlimited rides on the cta (chicago transit authority).
Am enjoying being here	I would say that it's been hard for me to connect with others while being at DePaul. Most people get to know each other through the on-campus dorms. So if you don't dorm your freshman year, it puts you at a disadvantage. I've had a hard time both my freshman and sophomore year with this, partly because I transferred into the music program my second year. The music school has a lot of divas - but which music school doesn't have any? The honors program also has a handful of arrogant suburbanites. But there are some down to earth people here and it takes some searching to find them.
Am learning a lot	DePaul provides a good environment for learning. It's nice to know that most of your classes will be taught by professors themselves. Even some science labs, especially upper-level labs, are taught by the professors with the help of TAs (teaching assistants). Most professors, especially those teaching the humanities, have office hours and are willing to help students while also getting to know them.

Tips for prospective students	definitely go on more than one tour before you decide to attend any university. that way, you'll be a lot more comfortable with where you are and the change will be less stressful.
Bang for the buck	it's a little pricey, but the financial aid and merit awards i recieved will really help.
Will enjoy being here	The Lincoln Park campus is absolutely beautiful, and it is the perfect location. There's so much to do in Chicago, I can't imagine ever being bored.
Academic Rigor	the reason i picked depaul was because the academic programs it had were just right for what i want to study. depaul seems to have a great service-learning program, and a lot of opportunities to get involved while you're there.

Great for these types of students	Those who care about social work or caring for others (our Vincentian ideals are all about that). Students who would like smaller class sizes, the ability for one-on-one time, options to be very talkative or quiet in class, and enjoy a real exploration for their college experience. Diversity is also a huge part of DePaul, so those interested in cultural experiences or working across the globe.
Tips for prospective students	Take advantage of all that DePaul offers. Volunteer work, religious groups, sororities, fraternities, diversity groups, dancing, workout classes, are just a few offers DePaul has for you. If you scoff at everyone one, of course you won't enjoy your time there. Instead try something out that's new or that interests you, there you'll find a place and perhaps even a new interest.
Bang for the buck	DePaul is expensive. It is a private school that tries to improve itself constantly for it's students. I believe the price is worth it because most of the money in tuition goes toward scholarships, financial aid, new buildings, new equipment, and graduation. In addition, the gym is wonderful and worth the fee and you can get into sporting events for free.
Am enjoying being here	There are many options at DePaul. Each of the offices is open to students coming in and just talking to them or making an appointment. There is a career center with lots of options for developing employment skills, a leadership office with workshops and activities, lots of retreats, and a fascinating group of students and faculty. I love my professors. I love the campus. I feel I have a variety of options when developing my class schedule and lots of help if I need it. In addition, there are always events and fun functions going on to stop by for free food, music, games, or friends.
Am learning a lot	DePaul has a wide array of class selections where you can learn almost anything. As an English major, I have taken classes on Contemporary Fiction, The Bronte Sisters, Creative Writing, Poetry, Creative Writing for Social Engagement, and Studies in Drama. The professors are well versed in their subjects and are very passionate. You'll be challenged to look at things differently and really make an effort, and it's worth it.

Great for these types of students	DePaul suits students who appreciate smaller class sizes, personable professors, and a diverse, culturally aware class list. It is a bit quieter on campus than larger state universities, so the studious student can stay in and work without distractions. However, downtown city life presents plenty of opportunity for students to go out and have a good time with friends.
Tips for prospective students	It is so important to get involved with campus life, especially for commuters. As a freshman, DePaul requires students to attend the campus fair for clubs and extra-curricular activities. I would recommend joining at least two organizations. It is a great way to meet other students and it will give one a better sense of community. Also, it helps for networking purposes. In addition, I would recommend taking advantage of the on-campus tools for students. Go to the gym for free, get help from the writing center if needed, and visit the advising office to make sure you're on the right track for your major, go to the concerts provided by DePaul Activities Board, and get discounted tickets for Chicago events from the Student Center. Overall, just enjoy the time you spend in the city at this university!
Bang for the buck	First and foremost, it should be noted that DePaul is not cheap. Like most private schools, a prospective student should expect a high cost of attendance, especially without any aid. However, one of the qualities that DePaul prides itself on is its strong alumni system. With the monetary help of past graduates, DePaul is able to supply a number of grants and scholarships to their students to help fund their education. Therefore, the cost is a bit defrayed because incoming and returning students usually receive aid from the Office of Financial Aid.
Am enjoying being here	I highly recommend studying in city settings for optimum learning. Not only does city life provide a diverse cultural and racial setting, but it also offers students a ray of work, intern, and volunteer opportunities. If living in the inner city seems unappealing, one should know that DePaul does not bind one to the downtown area. The campus in Lincoln Park has a slightly slower suburban feel, while the downtown campus is busier and more business oriented.
Am learning a lot	With a course schedule that requires students to become more acquainted with city life, learn about religion, read from a range of topics, and write about a variety of topics, DePaul provides a perfect learning atmosphere. In my first year, I have learned about Islam, the Mexican/Chicano race in Chicago, and American politics. At this university, professors and advisers take pride in helping students learn both in and out of class by using Chicago as a learning tool.

Great for these types of students	Any, I recommend this to anyone! Also, from what I have seen, DePaul is open to any student regardless of sex, color, race, gender, etc. While they follow a Vincentian Value, meaning we are a Catholic institution, I feel DePaul is a very warm-hearted University, where it not only feels like a University, but a home as well.
Tips for prospective students	There are many things to do, not just in Chicago, but on campus as well. I recommend First year students to consider living on campus, it personally benefited me because I got to meet so many people, and made it so convenient to walk to class, rather than commute (I live about 1.5 hours away from campus). Also, while I recommend to have fun, go out, make friends, I also tell you to never forget you are a student before anything. Forgetting this, may not necessarily be good when it comes to GPA--which is something I sort of fell behind on my second quarter. That's right, DePaul works in a quarter system, which I personally enjoy more, meaning there is a 6-week winter break--have as much fun then!
Bang for the buck	Given that this is a private institution, it happens to be a little pricey, when comparing to public colleges. When it comes to whether it is really worth it or not, I have got to admit it is. There are so many services offered at DePaul, primarily the Career Center, which offers support to current students, and even alumni. This is particularly beneficial, I recently found out, because my brother who recently graduated does not count on this support from the University where he graduated from without paying. DePaul's services are free even after graduation. There is also support at the Library, when it comes to research papers, or anything related, the Librarians are a wonderful resource, both in Lincoln Park, and at the Loop. The Writing Center is also a good resource, as well as all the ongoing on-campus events, which really make being a student at DePaul a great one!
Am enjoying being here	Given that DePaul is located in Chicago, there's always something to do. DePaul's Lincoln Park Campus is conveniently located by the beach, the zoo, and of course, downtown Chicago. Within a matter of minutes you can be at Millenium Park, Water Tower Place, the Art Institute, Zoo, or beach. Besides there being many things to do in Chicago, I also happen to be involved in campus through clubs, which gives me many more things which I can do. The staff is very friendly, and there are many things available at DePaul, most free! I can honestly say I have made a good choice by having had chosen to go to DePaul.
Am learning a lot	Depending on the classes, whether major-related or obligatory classes, the professors at DePaul are very good. Some are more than good, but outstanding. What makes them outstanding is their availability even after class is over--as in their use of office hours. Most are open to helping via email, but office hours are always a good way in which to get ahold of professors. If you don't at first understand a lesson, you can always get ahold of professors at DePaul. DePaul is also a school of understanding, and emphasizes on teaching this to students. There is learning even out of the classrooms, through educational events, diversity, career planning, financial fitness, and workshops teaching DePaul's mission and values, there is all types of learning going on at DePaul.

Tips for prospective students	My main tip for prospective students would be to not slack off in classes. Do your work first and then enjoy the fun opportunities that DePaul has to offer. Look for a school where you think you would enjoy yourself the most and can really help you with your career path and I think DePaul is that school.
Bang for the buck	DePaul is expensive, but I lucked out with a good scholarship. However, DePaul provides students with financial aid, therefore the price of the school should not persuade you from not attending.
Am enjoying being here	I'm really glad that I chose DePaul. I have had such a great experience just within my first year. I have met a lot of great people, the campus is nice, and you can do a lot here since DePaul is located in Chicago. I like the size of the campus because I am able to run into people that have taken classes with and this can help with developing a friendship. The other thing I enjoy is that there is always some activity going on, therefore you can never get bored here.
Am learning a lot	I would have to say that I am learning a lot from being here at DePaul, not just academically, but personally. The one thing I have learned while being here is not to slack off because it will make your studying harder and you will be lost in class when discussions occur. The school offers some interesting courses and they make sure you are taking the designated courses toward earning your degree. The advisers are also very helpful if you are confused about what courses to take for the quarter. I ran into that problem when I first started out at DePaul.

Tips for prospective students	I had a lot of family members go here who loved the environment and experiences they had. I went on a visit myself and was extremely disappointed in my tour. The your-guide was boring and uninformative. I however did more research on my own and realized one bad guide shouldn't determine my future. DePaul ended up being a great fit for me and I have applied am and waiting patiently for a response back. Wish me luck!

Great for these types of students	Business - DePaul has a great business program, especially since it has affiliations with businesses in Chicago. Political Science - I am very satisfied with the department. It's very diverse in its courses and I have learned an incredible amount, especially since there are no lectures. It's all discussion based. Social/City - DePaul has a very social atmosphere. Being in the city doesn't hurt either. People who want to learn - The core curriculum and knowledgable professors really make learning enjoyable. Religious/volunteer - DePaul offers many volunteering programs, some religious, some not. DePaul is a Christian School, but I am not very religious and I still feel a part of the community. If you are religious, then there are activities just for you. Sciences - Admittedly, their science program seems underdeveloped. Hopefully, as more funding arrives, they can better develop their program to offer courses during all quarters and allow a more flexible schedule.
Tips for prospective students	1) Remember to get involved in High School and keep your grades up. 2) Tests aren't everything. Focus more on your activities and academics rather than the ACT. DePaul made them optional now anyways. 3) Visit the school before you attend. I cannot stress this enough. I did not visit U of I before I attended, and I paid the price for it. 4) Don't worry about your major/career. That's what counselors are for. 5) Apply for scholarships and Financial Aid. Every penny helps. 6) Look at Amazon to buy your books. Often times, you can get your textbooks for cheaper through Amazon (and sometimes, you can sell it back to the school for more than you paid for, though this is rare). 7) Don't get lazy. Attend class and do the work. Generally, if one has decent time management skills and doesn't fool around in college, it will be easier than High School. Even with my double major, I feel college is easier than High School (though I did load up on extra-curriculars and AP courses). 8) Don't give into peer pressure. Just because others drink/get high, doesn't mean you have to as well. I never wanted to get drunk, and you won't believe how many people make it goal for it to happen. Just remember the negative consequences of it. You don't have to do things just to appeal to others. Saying no doesn't hurt your social life in any way either.
Bang for the buck	This is relative. DePaul is EXPENSIVE (over 40k with room & board). However, most other universities do not offer the same type of education, location, and diversity that DePaul does. Many other state schools tend to have bigger classes, bigger campuses, etc. DePaul has a very competent staff as well, which is more important than people may think. Also, because DePaul is private, they offer an abundance of scholarships (though I am having trouble receiving them for some reason). Finally, DePaul graduates tend to find jobs quite easily, especially in the realms of business. Remember, DePaul is located in Chicago, and DePaul has established connections with businesses in Chicago that can help someone land a job.
Am enjoying being here	This actually is biased on my part. Because of my loaded schedule, and the unfortunate instance of having roommates my freshman and sophomore year that are never home, I have very little to no social life. In actuality, though, DePaul has been ranked consistently high on the Nation's Happiest Students list, if not ranked #1. DePaul has a good amount of extra-curriculars (over 300), so you can find something to do (which I recommend doing). In addition, DePaul is located in the city, which means there are endless possibilities in finding something to do. The people are friendly for the most part as well. The average person should have no trouble meeting new people.
Am learning a lot	Right now, I am a college sophomore - a double major in Biology (Pre-med concentration) and Political Science. I originally transferred to DePaul from University of Illinois at Urbana Champaign after one semester, primarily because the atmosphere at UIUC did not appeal to me. DePaul much better served my needs - smaller classes, better access to professors, better advisors, etc. To compare, at UIUC, my chemistry class had about 350 people. My chemistry class at DePaul had 30 one quarter, 70 another quarter. In addition, DePaul University has a core curriculum. In short, this means they focus on a well-rounded education, requiring students to take classes from the core titles: Self, Society, and the Modern World, Philosophical Inquiry, Scientific Inquiry, Religious Dimension, and a few others. This allows a student to expand beyond his or her horizons, and truly integrate his or herself within the community. For instance, I took a core class titled Critical Thinking. This class taught me about communitarian philosophy, as well as mindsets shared by others. This obviously helps me with my political science, while also providing a new insight when addressing bioethical concerns. The best part about these classes is the central focus on discussion. Because of the small size, there are no lectures or TA's (a nice bonus). DePaul is also on the quarter system. We start school in September and get out the week of Thanksgiving. We return the first week of January for 11 weeks. Then we have spring break, and return for 11 more weeks. We end in June. The quarter system is faster than semesters, as the quarters are 10 weeks long, and then 1 week of finals. One normally takes 3-4 classes each quarter. This totals in 9-12 courses throughout the year, meaning one can learn a bunch in this time. Finally, almost all of the professors have doctorates, or are getting doctorates, in their field. They are very knowledgable, and for the most part, friendly.

Tips for prospective students	-Be social -DePaul lets way too many people in. DePaul has a tough education for as many people as they accept. Know what your getting into before you commit to it. -If you're coming to party, I'd suggest looking elsewhere. -Go to sports! Free Big East tickets are too good to pass up! -Be motivated. DePaul offers a lot of things to improve yourself and your resume. You will truly get out what you put in here.
Bang for the buck	I would give it 5 stars, but no school this expensive has that much bang. DePaul really has a great reputation, career services, professors, facilities and dorms. I feel you get what you pay for, but $45,000 a year isn't chump change by any stretch of the imagination. If your not coming here on scholarship you will have a very rough time paying for your school.
Am enjoying being here	I personally love DePaul, but I would say it isn't for everyone. If you aren't willing to break your comfort zone you will have trouble meeting friends. My best advice is to be personable and outgoing and prop your door open! Chicago is seriously the greatest city in the world and DePaul really uses it as part of the classroom. They give you free tickets to all sports-- it's a shame how few people take advantage of it. My biggest knock is the lack of school spirit here, but I'm working on changing that.
Am learning a lot	DePaul really offers interesting classes that can really fit your interests if you are motivated to find them. There are some great professors here, but also some poor ones, but I'd definitely say I had far more pleasant experiences than worthless ones. If your up for a challenge there are definitely classes for you, but if you want to breeze through some classes there are also quite a few options.

Campus Safety	depaul feels like a very safe community. it is in a big city, so you obviously need to be smart about when you go out by yourself and how late you are out. however, depaul has emergency buttons all over campus (they are hard to miss) and they have a service that will pick you up from anywhere on campus and drive you to another part of campus.
What to do for fun	i do not live on campus, but i have found lots of stuff you an do for fun. from hopping on the el to get to various parts of the city, to walking down the street to shop, eat, go to the beach, or to the zoo. there are many clubs and activites on campus.
Food and Dining	i have been quite surprised with depaul's food and dining. i have found many choices to be very tasty and fresh. obviously, you're going to find something here and there you don't like, but overall the food is good. there are various places to pick up something to drink, a sandwich, salad, or snack, but there is only one location to really get a hot meal, that is the only downside.
Dorm Life	i commute and do not live in a dorm. however, i have found many students commute. it is a lot cheaper then living in the dorms. i have heard people say they love living on campus and i have heard people say they can't wait not to live on campus next year. it really depends on the person.
Academic Rigor	i went to a high school that was very academically rigorous. it prepared me for college very well. so far, i have not felt that my freshman year has been as academically rigorous as i thought it was going to be. if you work hard and keep up in all your classes, it will be much easier for you.
Tips for prospective students	take more ap classes because those credits pay off to have when it comes to fulfilling different required learning domains. wherever you go to school, keep caught up on your reading, it really helps and can make a class a lot less challenging. try out classes you are interested in because you probably won't get the same chance to learn about different topics like you have in college.
In three sentences	extremely intelligent professors. good cafeteria food. not as academically challenging as i thought it was going to be.

Clubs and Activities	There are so many clubs and activities at DePaul it is too many to count. What I love most is they make it very easy for you to join clubs with a site called OrgSync. Going on to OrgSync you can simply log in with your DePaul info and join clubs. OrgSync is connected to your email so whenever they send out messages about a upcoming meeting it goes straight to your email. OrgSync also makes it convenient and easy to keep up with what is going on in the clubs your in with you being able to view all your club events on one big calendar.
Great for these types of students	DePaul is great for a hard working student. Its a great school but if your coming to a school to party this is the wrong one. Even though there is occasional parties this school is way to expensive for partying to be your main focus.
What to do for fun	Being in the city of Chicago this is never a issue. If there isn't anything going on on campus (rarely happens) you can always use your U-Pass ( unlimited bus & L pass included in your tuition) to get anywhere throughout the city. There are occasional parties a block or two from campus if that your thing. But majority of the time DAB (DePaul Activity Board) will always have a activity taking place that is posted around campus.
Food and Dining	The food in the Loop and Lincoln Park is pretty good. I will admit occasionally you will get tired of the food because its only natural that after so long you will get bored with something. As far as the Lincoln Park Student Center they do offer more options that the loop with Mexican food, burgers, hot dogs, chicken sandwich, deli, and more. But overall the food is pretty good with a pretty decent selection of choice for vegetarians .
Dorm Life	I stayed in Munroe Hall for my freshman year and I love it. The residential hall board always has something going on like I recently went to a free showing of Project X at the nearby theater and a Taco Bar night. I loved that my hall was friendly and social so there was always someone walking past saying Hi to you.
Academic Rigor	DePaul is in the top 365 colleges for Princeton Review so of course the classes are not going to be extremely easy, but instead require hard work and dedication. The work load is manageable though so if you get accepted DePaul obviously believe you can handle it so all you have to do when you get here is stay focused and you will be fine.
Tips for prospective students	The best tip I can give is take advantage of Welcome Week. Welcome Week is the first week at DePaul where there are several activities like FREE Cub's game tickets, and an all nighter event with dancing and bowling all the way to the Involvement Fair, where you can walk around the Quad and learn about all the various club and Greek life. During this week especially for Freshman and transfers is really when you meet to most people because everyone going to these events to do the same thing as you, meet new people and have fun getting free stuff.
In three sentences	It a very diverse school with people from all different walks of life. Its a great Catholic university with great academics that really encourages you to try new thing. They really strive to make you a real rounded individual to make you better fit for any work force you may want to pursue.

Campus Safety	Campus Safety is amazing. They have this neat transportation system where if you're within a certain number of miles away from DePaul and feel unsafe, you can call this number and have Campus Safety come pick you up to drop you off at your dorm or next class!
Greek Life	I myself am not in a sorority but my best friend is. Mina, she's not the sorority cliche (girly, feminine, dolled up), she's more into sports and stuff. But thankfully DePaul has sororities where you can focus more on your personal interests. Mina's now in a sorority where they focus on community service and giving back to the community, which I'm always hearing good things about.
Clubs and Activities	This is one thing that DePaul lacks to catch my attention with. There's all the flyers all posted on the cork boards but I'm always just finding myself walking right past them. They build up all this hype about clubs and activities at orientation but I just don't bother.
Great for these types of students	Great for all types of students. If you're not much of a stuck on your books type of person, I guarantee you'll find someone like you. Or if you constantly find yourself making note cards for that next quiz, you're sure to find a study partner. The best thing about it here is that people don't judge you on appearance. So no matter if you fit any of those cliches, chances are you'll find someone here at DePaul similar.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus	DePaul Quad. Which is basically like the center of the Lincoln Park Campus. Buncha people just sit here and hang out. When it's warmer out there's ALWAYS some event going on at the Quad.
Bang for the buck	Honestly, I do not regret making my decision between all my school choices. There are so many people from all walks of life here and they're all so friendly. Amazing things happen here at DePaul.
What to do for fun	It's Chicago! There's a L Train nearby which you can take downtown sight seeing, shopping, famous restaurants. Or if you're not a fan of downtown there's a nearby Webster Movie Theatre walking distance from DePaul, parks nearby, and Wrigley Field!
Food and Dining	I have ate here about three times. I'm in my last term as a Sophomore. Food is OKAY. Not bad, not delicious.
Dorm Life	Currently not dorming since I live less than a mile away from campus but I'm always hearing how dorming at DePaul helps make new friends easier!
Academic Rigor	There's always going to be that one tough teacher you encounter whose expectations are higher than others, but it's nothing out of reach.
Tips for prospective students	Do not be afraid to ask an instructor for extra help, do not be afraid to talk to new people, do not be afraid to try new actitivies, do not be afraid!
In three sentences	By far the most diverse private school I've ever encountered, I love it. Staff is always easily approachable! Extremely worth every cent I pay.

What to do for fun	Wow, almost anything you like to do is here. the sports complex is great. you are just a few train stops from the great downtown area. There are theater nearby as well as downtown.
Food and Dining	On campus food is OK, but could use variety. but the surrounding eateries are amazing. you are within walking distance to the best food in town.
Dorm Life	Dorm life not that great. the area is amazing but the few dorms are not much to write about.
Academic Rigor	The academic rigor at De Paul is above average. You will be stretched as a student.
Tips for prospective students	The best tip is to choose your place of residence carefully. Where you live can help or hurt your studies.
In three sentences	the location is one of the best I have ever seen. The level and caliber of student at De Paul is above average. The downtown campus adds an extra dimension to your experience as a student.

What to do for fun	At DePaul, the city of Chicago is your oyster! When you aren't studying, you will be busy soaking up every bit of culture that the city has to offer.
Food and Dining	There are a lot of different options, whether you are a vegatarian, vegan, of have some other type of special dietary need.
Dorm Life	There are strict rules, but the community on campus is unlike any other.
Academic Rigor	If you want to be challenged, you will be challenged. If you want to skate through unnoticed, you can make it, but you won't learn nearly enough to survive in the real world.
Tips for prospective students	This university and the city of Chicago are not for the faint of heart; come prepared to push your boundaries and step outside of your comfort zone.

What to do for fun	Night life at DePaul is mostly for students 21+, but there are tons of other things to do in the city if you are underaged as well. We went to plays, comedy shoes, the Orchestra and many other events around the city.
Food and Dining	The food is alright at DePaul. Food in the Loop Campus is better than the Lincoln Park Campus. After a while, it gets repetitive and it doesn't seem like there are a lot of options. But living on campus requires a meal plan.
Dorm Life	I absolutely loved dorm life. I lived in Corocoran Hall, which was one of the oldest and less accommodating dorms, but it was number one for community feel on campus. Everyone knew each other and we were all more or less friends. It was a wonderful experience and it helped with assimilating to DePaul.
Academic Rigor	Most classes I have been in are not a surprise. If you sign up for a 300-level class, be prepared to do 300-level work. Otherwise, making sure to come to class and being engaged really determines whether classes are going to be difficult or not, just like any other university.
Tips for prospective students	Be prepared to learn how to use public transportation. It is vital for living in the city.
In three sentences	DePaul University has a very diverse student population. The atmosphere is welcoming, plus faculty and staff are always willing to take time and help you with anything you need. The academics here help build not only your intelligence but your character as a person as well.

Great for these types of students	For students who want to break from the traditional Big 10 feel, DePaul is for you.
What to do for fun	You are in one of America's largest cities. If you get bored it is completely on you! DePaul sells discounted tickets to Bulls/Cubs games, musicals, plays, and the movie theater. The North Avenue beach and the Lincoln Park zoo are just a bit of a walk away. You can visit one of Chicago's many museums (look into the discount days) or hang around Millennium Park. There are always cultural events and festivals happening throughout the city, just keep your eyes peeled.
Food and Dining	Again, can't say much.
Dorm Life	Can't offer much on this as I lived off-campus in Lincoln Park.
Academic Rigor	DePaul runs on a trimester system so students can't really afford to take a lazy approach to their studies. Classes can be difficult but since the class size is small, professors are more than willing to answer questions during class or see you during office hours. Students seem fairly relaxed but during midterms or finals week you will see people in the libraries till close. Honestly, if you do your work and put in the effort you will be rewarded with an A- it's an honest system. Depending on your major you may be able to graduate without ever having taken a Friday class- its a constant 3 day weekend!
Tips for prospective students	Commuting can be a new experience so make sure you are familiar with the Red Line before starting classes. Also people in the Commerce school tend to dress sharp, bordering on business casual, so just be warned when you come into the Loop campus in sweats.
In three sentences	I transferred to DePaul my sophomore year from a Big Ten and surprisingly loved it. I love the general atmosphere, there is no specific culture- students with any interest will find themselves welcome despite the school's small size. Living in the city (be it Lincoln Park or the Loop) is an exciting experience- you won't have a dull day!

Campus Safety	Campus safety definitely deserves a 5 stars. Scattered through out campus are tall blue lights with an emergency button on them that should be used only incase of an emergency. When pressed, police will report to the scene of the crime. From every blue emergency call station you stand at, you can see another emergency call station. Not only are these emergency call stations located all through out campus, but campus security is constantly driving about campus to make sure everything is indeed safe. Lastly, DePaul for all dorming halls has a swiping system. Everything is constantly locked when it comes to dorming halls and not accessible to those who are not residents within those dorming halls. Students must swipe in order to unlock the front door, show their id to the front desk, swipe in, and then swipe once more to unlock the doors to either the stairwell, or the elevator. Although in the city DePaul does an excellent job in making sure students are and feel safe.
Greek Life	Although it might not be obvious, DePaul surprisingly has a strong greek life community. Due to the fact that DePaul does not have housing, it's hard to tell. For instance, this year (2012) during rush week 400 girls participating in the rushing for sororities. About 1/5 of DePaul is involved in some sort of greek life.
Clubs and Activities	The amount of activity, and involvement fairs that occur through out the school year are ridiculous. There are so many clubs, activities, job& internship fairs through out the course of the year to help you get involved. From Multicultural fraternities & sororities, cheerleading, dance to acapella groups, club sports, intramurals, pre med/law clubs, science clubs, anime clubs, art clubs, book clubs, jazz music clubs etc. DePaul literally has it all.
Great for these types of students	Are you involved in theater? If so DePaul is the place for you! DePaul's new theater school is in the process of being built. This gorgeous building should be done within the next year!
Bang for the buck	GO WHEREVER THE FREE FOOD IS. DePaul because it is in the city is surrounded by many many restaurants with cheap price tags for college students. Devil Dogs, and Allende's are only 2 examples of great late night eats that are pretty cheap especially if you have a midnight snack attack.
What to do for fun	What not is there to do?! You're in the city, when DePaul mentions in the brochures that the City is your classroom they really mean it. Go downtown and see a random free show with your demon discounts. DePaul is located 15 minutes away from the lincoln park zoo as well as the lake. If you hop on the L you're about 5-7 minutes outside downtown Chicago. DePaul has a variety of partnerships that give DePaul students discounts. For example, UGGS, the Apple store, Dairy Queen are only a few places that DePaul gives discounts to, check out a DePaul Sports game with free tickets, don't forget about the DePaul art museum, or a live theatrical performance put on by your fellow peers. Not only does DePaul give discounts to stores, but recently, within the last month, every DePaul student is now a member of the Natural history museum of Chicago!
Food and Dining	The student center is where it's at! DePaul's food as a whole gets a full 5 stars, there is lots of variety, more than any school I've visited. Not only is there variety, but the quality of food and the politeness each worker has is outstanding.
Dorm Life	Dorm life i'd say is great! DePaul goes by an open door policy, if your door is open, people are free to walk right in and say hey. If your door is closed, it's a polite way of letting people know you're busy. DePaul's dorming halls do a great job in leading events that will bring the people living in the dorms together as a whole. For example, Clifton likes to hold dodge ball tournaments against each floor as well as community dinners. Events very between dorming halls.
Academic Rigor	I'd say its about average, college is college, it's going to be hard. I'd also add that it really depends on what it is you want to major in. A communication major's academic rigor is going to be different then a physics major.
Tips for prospective students	A few tips for prospective students would be, your high school years are what you make it, so get more involved, strive for good grades, test scores aren't everything so if thats not your thing don't worry about it too much, you have the option not to send it in. DePaul has about 15 different merit or activity based scholarships, keep working hard and theres no reason why you shouldn't receive one.
In three sentences	If I were to describe DePaul in three sentences i'd have to say, it's very unique, as in location, religion, as well as culturally. There are so many different kinds of people here, ones you wouldn't expect to have similar interests, and ones that are all the way from across the country. If you're looking for a wild ride and adventure, DePaul is the place to be.

Campus Safety	Stay in groups at night. Just because it's a college campus doesn't mean it's not Chicago.
Greek Life	I LOVE DELTA GAMMA. The Greek Life at DePaul is great because there really isn't a rivalry and it's not so intense as it is at state schools. Everyone just wants to have fun and get to know each other, while making a difference in some great causes.
Clubs and Activities	There's a club for everything and everyone. Don't worry, just go to the involvement fair and you'll find something that fits you.
What to do for fun	The zoo is great and it's fun just to walk around the city. There's always something to do on campus and it's fun to try new things. DePaul does a great job at helping students experience Chicago on a budget.
Food and Dining	There aren't many healthy options, but there is a wide variety. Etcetera is nice because it offers basic groceries that mix up the monotony of the caff food.
Dorm Life	I love my dorm and its location. It's really great living with other freshmen and I love living in Seton. The rooms are huge and so are the closets. I really like how social the dorm is and how everyone seems to know each other.
Academic Rigor	I'm in the honors program and it's a great way to boost academic rigor, but not to the point where it's too much to handle.
Tips for prospective students	We're on the quarter system and ten weeks goes by fast, so don't procrastinate with your work. Also, make the most of the free things to do in the city in your spare time. They're there, you just have to find them.
In three sentences	DePaul's opportunities are second to none. In the city, there are endless opportunities for internships, careers, and education in and out of the classroom. Also, the staff is incomparable to any other because they care so much for students and will do anything they can to help on a daily basis.

Campus Safety	I never feel scared on campus. i carry a keychain with the public safety number printed clearly on it. The emergency buttons are located almost everywhere you look and the public safety car is constantly driving around. Depauls a great and safe place to be!
Greek Life	Greek Life isnt for me. However i have met with several members and they all are real nice people who really love being a part of the greek life community.
Clubs and Activities	There are so many clubs offered at Depaul, that everyone will find at least something that they would like to join. Being a freshman i was scared of not fitting in or not making friends. But with the involvement fair and all the activities offered the first week here i met a lot of new people and have joined DAB. I have a lot of friends and fitting is no longer something i worry about. I'm fine with just being who i am.
Bang for the buck	Depaul provides every student with a Upass! which leaves more money in my wallet. i really wouldnt know what i would do without it.
What to do for fun	With Depaul being located in chicago, youll never run out of fun things to do. Theres the zoo, theres countless shoppin opportunities or sight seeing. Getting a cupcake with friends at sweet Mandabees or eating at Jam n Honey, Depaul is definitely located in a great place.
Food and Dining	Depaul dining is amazing. They offer a variety of different foods so youll never get tired of eating the same thing. The student center is a great place to be, me and my roommate often lose track of time and can spend almost all day there. wether we are eating or studying, we're forever thankful for the student store and dining hall.
Dorm Life	I live in Corcoran, and it really is an amazing place to be. With students living next door, or down the hall, i hardly ever feel lonely. They provide good times and good laughs. The dorm life couldnt get any better.
Academic Rigor	Depaul offers great academic and career advising. They provide their students with everything they need to prepare for their futures and more. whether it's resume help, interview help or math tutoring. i know with Depaul i will succeed.
Tips for prospective students	Be sure to pack lots of jackets, scarves, and gloves, chicago gets cold!

Campus Safety	The safety is good because their is a lot of security on campus. Also, safety is great during the night and their are a lot of services like you can call the school bus to take you to classes at night which is a great thing if worried to walk outside at night.
Clubs and Activities	I am not in any clubs right now but i plan to join clubs next quarter. I hear they are great because a lot of my friends are in different clubs. You get to meet new people
Great for these types of students	Its great for any type of student because they are very helpful and its a great environment to learn in. I enjoy learning in the city because their are a lot of educational places like museums to go to.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus	Their are two campuses, the loop campus and the Lincoln Park campus. You can decide where you want to take your classes or you can split the classes by choice.
Bang for the buck	Its worth it since DePaul is a good credited school and its easier to find a job because of that. I learning experience is great and services to help you pass classes are awesome. My cousins graduated couple years ago from DePaul and they are working at good paying jobs.
What to do for fun	You can join a lot of clubs, depending on your interests. Their is a gym and basketball court and other things to pass time. It just depends what your interests are and their are a lot things that a person can do for fun since Chicago is a fun city.
Food and Dining	The food and dining provided at the university is very good. If you dorm, you have to pay for the meal plan but its worth it since the food is great. Since its in the city, the places available to eat are also good.
Dorm Life	I commute from the suburbs to the city every day, but hearing from friends, they really enjoy dorm life. They meet a lot of new people and its easier to take advantage of activities that are scheduled for night since its on campus.
Academic Rigor	I completed one quarter so far and it was difficult for me. Its challenging because the transition from high school to college is hard. I had a lot of homework and a lot of papers i had to write. I had to study hard for my mid terms and finals because they are very important.
Tips for prospective students	Their is always people that are their to help on any questions and concerns. Take advantage of all the services provided because they will help and make school a lot easier. Their are tutors, so do not worry and stress out because they are very helpful.
In three sentences	DePaul University is a great school. It is full of diversity and its easy to fit in. I love the teachers, which are really helpful and if i struggle in a class, the tutors are very helpful. The atmosphere in the city is awesome since i am used to being in the suburbs my whole life.

Campus Safety	Public safety will transport you anywhere on campus from 6pm to 6am. Take advantage of it!
Greek Life	There are no houses for Greek Life but that does not stop brothers or sisters from living together in apartments!
Clubs and Activities	The Honors Program is a very nice group as well with club sports!
Great for these types of students	Great for every type of students, DePaul encourages diversity!
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus	The science buildings are incredibly new and McGowan South is entirely Eco-Friendly.
Bang for the buck	The L is such an amazing way to get around Chicago and transfer between both campuses.
What to do for fun	Take the L downtown, visit the zoo, go to comedy clubs.
Food and Dining	The food at DePaul is impressive with many different options. And if you get tired of the Chartwells food, you can take a walk outside and experience the food of Lincoln Park.
Dorm Life	I recommend the dorms with community bathrooms because they really cause a close-knit community.
Academic Rigor	The science classes are incredibly rigorous, but are doable if questions are asked.
Tips for prospective students	Join as many activities as you can. Also, get to know your professors and make study groups. Take advantage of the downtown Chicago area!

Campus Safety	There is a conscious effort to keep us safe and services like the Public Safety escorts, however it is still the city and you need to be smart and always watch out for yourself and anything you don't want stolen.
Greek Life	Greek life is pretty active on campus, although we don't have Sorority or Frat houses people stay pretty connected and there always seems to be something to do with Sororities or Frats. I am not in one, my roommate is, and she is always inviting me to events.
Clubs and Activities	There are many options for many different interests. There are not as many as the campus sometimes acts like there are, but if you want to be involved in something, chances are DePaul has something for you in that area or close to it.
Great for these types of students	People who love city life, people who want half college experience half urban life experience, people who like learning in small but nurturing environments
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus	Nothing really comes to mind, we're pretty normal haha
Bang for the buck	Great school...pricey but normally gives out a good deal of aid and/or scholarships.
What to do for fun	Bars, eating out, parties, or hanging out--it's Chicago, we have unlimited train passes, there is always something to do if you go out and look for it--comedy clubs, plays, sports events, etc.
Food and Dining	As a native to the area, I am particularly fond of Chicago's pizza. However there are many different restaurants with varieties of food to try. Whether you want cheap or expensive, there is always something available. Plus, since it's the city, a lot of places are open pretty late and some places like Domino's deliver late which is a life saver when you're super drunk and hungry.
Dorm Life	I love my dorm but some tenants are kind of elitists and not the most social with outsiders. Most dorms are pretty social though and RA's make an active effort to get us connected. The roommate selection is random if there are no requests, but I am very happy with the 4 other girls I was placed with. The dorms are nice, clean, and very safe. I love living there, wish I could all 4 years.
Academic Rigor	People are somewhat competitive; not so much in the Liberal Arts school. Professor's are generally very helpful--RateMyProfessor is not always wrong with reviews--and there are a lot of offered resources to help you succeed. However, we aren't crazy cutthroat.
Tips for prospective students	DePaul lets in a lot of students but a lot drop out because they don't do well. If you get in but did crappy in high school, it's very different here. You need to work hard and be serious. It's a great school and fun, and personally I haven't found the workload unmanageable, but it isn't a joke either.
In three sentences	A college and city experience all in one. Classes are interesting and engaging, with a mostly manageable workload, and with all the free time you have the city to explore. You get the college experience without being trapped in corn fields, which in my opinion, is awesome.

Tips for prospective students	If you plan on going here, join the Facebook group with your year because you will meet other incoming freshmen and it's a quick way to meet new people. It also helps you find out who else will be majoring in what you are. There are conversations everyday and everyone is so friendly.

Bang for the buck	It is going to be very expensive but you have to expect that with a private college. The experience is worth the extra hours of scholarship and the Financial aid office was very helpful with taking a bit of the burden off too.
Will enjoy being here	The campus was breathtaking. The buildings worked very well with the greenery and the layout was very easy to walk around.
Will learn a lot	I may have only attended the campus guide but the class schedules seemed very flexible and organized. The system allows for someone to easily dual major which is what I am now planning to do and get enough credits to graduate.

Great for these types of students	Students who like small classes, the city, lots of interesting people, students who have the money to spare, students who like technology or want to go into computers (the school of Computing and Digital Media is one of the best!), and just anyone who can see themselves at Depaul!
Tips for prospective students	If you don't like the city, of course don't go here. Depaul is intergrated into Chicago, that is, it's a part of the city, not isolated. Also, sign up for classes early! If you get Seton Hall as a dorm room, that's probably the most community-oriented dorm there is. Other places, especially the apartment-style ones, are not, and people rarely talk to each other, not even in elevators! Join clubs! It's really fun! Just have fun in college overall. Depaul's not a party school, but there's plenty of places to go!
Bang for the buck	Depaul is really expensive, and only gets more expensive, but they seem to work with you when it comes to financial aid the best they can. The healthcare isn't great. It's better to have your own. But, the meal plans are good, along with the food! There's even a little store if you want a few other things and hate going to Dominicks. I enjoy the classes here, so it's worth every penny.
Am enjoying being here	Chicago is a great starter city for people who live in small places. It's not as overwhelming as I thought it would be. I'm from St. Louis, MO, and there's nothing to do here, but Chicago always has something going on! Plus, there's many chances to meet other nationalities and races! You can take the train just about anywhere as well. I enjoy visiting the Asian towns the most. It's a great feel and helps me enjoy my college stays.
Academic Rigor	Depaul is a great place for learning a lot in a small amount of time. The class sizes are small. The most I've had is 25 students. The teachers are really great, and if you ask them, they will talk to you and work with you. As a senior, I've had many different class experiences. The art classes are long, but you really get to practice techniques. As a computing and digital media student,. you have access to so many different types of technology. It's really great for when you get into the business. Japanese is really fun here as well! The teachers are sweet and most of them are Japanese, so they grew up in the language.

Bang for the buck	DePaul is a private school, so they don't get any money from the state, hence tuition can be more than $30,000 a year. But they do offer numerous scholarships; it's just finding the scholarships that becomes difficult. Like what all my professors say, when you are applying for a job, who are they going to hire if the qualifications are the same, the NIU or DePaul graduate? Most likely DePaul.
Am enjoying being here	I love DePaul. The location of the two main campuses are perfect. The professors are understanding and helpful. Everything about the university is amazing, in my opinion.
Am learning a lot	Every class I have taken, I came out with new views and knowledge. Even if I got a D in the class or an A, I still feel like I learned valuable information. I have taken classes from African Religion Studies to Psychology to Animation to Microeconomics. DePaul offers many different courses that every student can take.

What to do for fun	at depaul, entertainment can be easily found. you can head to the loop as well as other surounding neighborhoods for theatrical performances if you are the theater type (second city, chicago theatre, goodman thaetre...etc). and for the music lovers, lincoln hall, the vic, house of blues,the riviera, and aragon will satisfy your need.
Food and Dining	depaul uses chartwells dining services which offers the typical food choices. which include paninis, pastas, hamburgers, pizza and grilled chicken sandwiches amongst other foods. but the great thing about depaul university centered in chicago, is that there are many restaurants, cafes, and cheap food joints around to choose from.
Dorm Life	i really can't comment on dorm life since i am a commuter but don't want to give it a low rating just because i don't dorm .
Academic Rigor	i'm a sophmore majoring in business management. so far the courses are not as rigorous as i expected them to be. i think the level of academic difficulty really depends on your major and classes you choose.
Tips for prospective students	get ready for a very rewarding experience!

Campus Safety	there are campus safety cars that will take you anywhere you want to go on campus, but they are overbooked during the winter so it is better to just walk where you want to go. also, they have panic buttons all around campus as well as in the restrooms, which makes for a safer feeling when being on campus at night.
Greek Life	the greek life here is pretty active, and they are all service or ethnicity oriented. most of the sororities and fraternities have a philanthropy, and the ones who don't are mainly oriented around socializing with people of your own ethnicity. the greeks are also very party oriented, with most houses throwing parties every weekend.
Clubs and Activities	there are a bunch of different clubs to join, but most don't meet regularly. if you're looking to have a good time once a month and then nothing, then that describes most of the clubs here. the service clubs are a bit more active, but sometimes it is hard to find the right fit.
Great for these types of students	service-oriented, liberal students fit in very well here. hipsters would also really like it here. conservatives and those extremely religious might be fooled by the vincentian presence, but most people here are not religious at all.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus	none, really.
Bang for the buck	as the school is private, there is a large price tag that goes along with your letter of admission. however, the classes are no different than any other university and the dorms and dining are at times, sub-par. also, foreign exchange programs cost as much as housing for the quarter, and do not last as long.
What to do for fun	because it is in the city, you don't have to stay on campus to have fun. however, on campus there are a bunch of different clubs and activities to get involved in, such as the sky-diving club and different sororities and fraternities.
Food and Dining	the cafeteria has a bunch of different options along with different cafes around campus. the problem is that there are almost no healthy options on weekends, and everything is far more expensive than off-campus dining options.
Dorm Life	it really depends on what dorm you are living in, but most of the dormers are freshmen and fairly social. the problem is that in the dorms, the heating is terrible and there are rarely any free washers and dryers for laundry. there are decent apartments and town homes available, but they are not worth the cost of living.
Academic Rigor	the classes in general aren't the easiest, but they aren't the hardest either. the teachers expect you to be prepared and do your assignments on time, no excuses.
Tips for prospective students	leave the car at home and take the free u-pass instead (and investing in a bike is a good idea, too). the on-campus food is alright, but in order to not spend all of your money too quickly, eat out at some cheaper places near campus sometimes.
In three sentences	depaul has a great location in the near north side of chicago, and as such there is a lot to do both on and off campus. the professors are approachable and with 25,000 students, anyone is bound to find where they belong. however, it is an extremely liberal campus, so conservatives, be warned.

What to do for fun	there are many bars around depaul if you are of age and a late night venue lincoln hall that hosts concerts and shows quite frequently. the city is your playing field though, so go out and check it all out, you may like the other neighborhoods better and want to potentially move there instead of dorming the next year.
Food and Dining	because i did not dorm at depaul i don't eat here frequently but there is quite a selection from the healthy to unhealthy options, depending on how you sway.
Dorm Life	i never dormed but i wish i had freshman year because this is the time to bond with fellow classmates and i felt i was not able to take advantage of this time. i hear from other students that sanctuary hall is the best though.
Academic Rigor	this usually depends, as always, on which classes, major, and teachers you are handed, but in general the classes are moderate. if you keep up with readings and assignments, there is no reason to fail.
Tips for prospective students	learn about the study abroad programs early in your college experience and take full advantage of it before it's too late.

Greek Life	i am involved in the greek life, and it is really fun. i don't like that there are no houses because it makes bonding a little bit more difficult. greek life isn't really that big at depaul so if you are not in it, then it is not a big deal.
Clubs and Activities	there are many clubs at depaul. it feels almost like high school though just because you hear about the same clubs all the time.
Great for these types of students	if you loved high school, then you will probably love it. if you love the city then this is also a great school for you. i would suggest visiting to get a feel for yourself.
Bang for the buck	depaul is very expensive and it is not that prestigious of a school so i don't think it is worth it unless you get a full scholarship or something.
What to do for fun	there is a lot to do for fun because it is in the city. if you are expecting to go out however, you will need i.d. otherwise, parties are often shut down early; there are a lot of other things to do in the city, however. depaul gives you a u-pass with free transportation all over the city.
Food and Dining	the dining hall is terrible, there is about six places you can eat at with your meal plan and after awhile you get sick of all of them. i would suggest not spending your money on a meal plan because the food is not worth it and there are no variations. definitely spend less on meal plan and more on groceries!
Dorm Life	the dorm life is okay, make sure you are comfortable with it before you committ to it because depaul will not let you switch dorms, roommates without paying a $1000 deposit. dorm life makes you feel like you are in high school again because of the mandatory meetings, rules and regulations. i would suggest living in the apartment style dorms to have more freedom.
Academic Rigor	academically speaking, the courses have not been that challenging. it is on quarter system, so keeping up with the work can get challenging especially if you experience illness, loss of loved one, ect. the professors are all really helpful and if you do your work your grade pretty much reflects that.
Tips for prospective students	if you want the all american college experience this isn't the school for you. it is great because it is in the city, however it is not your typical college. make sure you are absolutely sure you want to live in the city because that is probably the biggest aspect of this school.
In three sentences	depaul university is a great school, especially if you love the city. it is a smaller atmosphere just because the campus is broken up in different locations. depending on what you want from your college experience, it can be a great school for people who love the city and want a diverse setting.

What to do for fun	chicago is a bustling city with exciting events all over the place. during the warmer seasons people can hang out by beautiful lake michigan, attend nba, mlb, nfl, mls, and nhl games and events throughout the year. the university offers many clubs and organizations if one is interested in taking part. in lincoln park, many bars, restaurants, and cafes are around with an exciting night life.
Food and Dining	chicago is a beautiful city with lots of culture and ethnic identities. discovering food around the city is a must. additionally, chicago style pizza is one of the greatest treats so feel free to try out the numerous styles of food around campus and the city.
Dorm Life	i live off campus which is one option for students, however, the university offers plenty of dorms. life around campus is always buzzing. if one does not want to stay on campus the city of chicago always has something fun going on.
Academic Rigor	if students attend all classes, keeps up with material, and ask plenty of questions they should have no major problems. remember to be social and ask questions if something is not making sense. this is what instructors are there for.
Tips for prospective students	no matter where students currently are taking classes, do your best and attempt to earn the highest gpa you possibly can. work towards creating good study habits and be discipline for these qualities are essential in college and later in life.

What to do for fun	There's much to do in Lincoln Park. The campus has a nice park nearby and an open quad for socializing. DePaul has high quality gym on campus, complete with fitness equipment, a pool, basketball courts, and more. For older students, there are many entertaining bars around the area along with the El that can quickly take you anywhere you need to go.
Food and Dining	The food at DePaul's cafeterias is diverse and tasty. They offer daily specials and have food ranging from burgers and chicken strips to hot wings and pizza to deli sandwishes and mexican food to fresh pasta and delicious ethnic cuisines. If you manage to not find what you're looking for from the cafeteria, the on-campus grocery store and Dominics or close by restaurants will certainly have what you crave.
Dorm Life	The dorms are very nice. Most have air conditioning and all have heat. They vary from freshman dorms to luxurious on campus apartments, with everything in between. They all are relatively modern and well upkept by staff. None are too far out of the way from academic buildings or a place to find a bite to eat.
Academic Rigor	The classes will challenge you, there's no doubt about that. There's a difference between challenging and overbearing; the classes will push you, but if you give it your best shot, you can get that A in any class. Teachers are helpful, classes are diverse, and both will be enjoyable and suited to your major.
Tips for prospective students	Get ready for a good college experience! DePaul's professors are some of the best. They're willing to help you inside class and out, and are always polite, while making sure you're appropriately challenged. Be prepared for warm summers and snowy winters!

The school teaches you while letting you explore for yourself, it nurtures you while preparing you for life after college, and there are people you can relate to while maintaining a highly diverse campus. Campus Safety	In Lincoln Park, there are blue emergency buttons everywhere as well as Public Safety. Try to stay in a group. Downtown has minimal disturbances beside the occasional homeless person.
Greek Life	I do not have experience with Greek Life.
Clubs and Activities	Low school spirit overall due to lack of sports, but many of the organizations here thrive due to Chicago's resources, and in fact will put you into contact with those same companies or national organizations.
Great for these types of students	Open-minded, volunteer-oriented or interested in giving back, self-starters who are not intimidated by the city.

Bang for the buck	You have the ability to network with nationally-based organizations, professional networks, non-profits, and almost any other resource you can think of. Professors generally come with awesome connections - talk them up! Many of them work as well as teach. Things are overpriced - it's Chicago, it's a sprawling metropolitan area, and DePaul in particular is the largest Catholic school in the nation - draw your own conclusions. It's worth it if you can get a few scholarships and transfer here as I did. So far I have learned a lot, but I am a curious person and like to learn - you get what you put in.
What to do for fun	Explore - seriously. There is constant flux and tourism here, neighborhoods with their own charm, and if you're only here for a certain amount of time, you don't want to miss it. Wander, see a show, go to a temple, observe the hectic life of others,
Food and Dining	Again, stores within distance are a better option.
Dorm Life	My personal experience is with the University Center downtown. It definitely is convenient, but I recommend bypassing the meal plan: There is a Jewel, Super Target, Whole Foods and Trader Joe's all within walking distance and completely reasonable, as well as several places to eat that won't break the bank. The convenience is painfully overpriced in the cafeteria. The R.A. staff as a whole is not known for doing their job, so you will likely stay out of their clutches if you are throwing a party, particularly in the apartment side of the building. They usually turn around if they /know/ something is going down and leave it alone. Just be smart and you won't be bothered. There are mixed types of personalities in this dorm: Some people thrive on meeting neighbors and some prefer to be left alone. You'll know by how often you see them, usually. School spirit tends to be low.
Academic Rigor	In some courses you run into a ridiculous amount of busy work - others are a breeze. In general, courses in the College of Communication are fun and not too rough, but require participation. If you are not a fan of speaking up, that might be difficult for you. In my major, Public Relations and Advertising, take Jim Moetzer: He is on one of the best professors and teaches a number of PR classes as well as Marketing. He is friends with Donald Ingle, who is also an amazing professor. They are always willing to help you and assist with networking. Overall, it's average in academic rigor, but if you put a lot in to your studies and networking, you will have opportunities that others won't.
Tips for prospective students	It is always better to speak to someone in person than on the phone. I have sent emails and received a response that says something was completed when it was not. They seem like a harried staff sometimes, so go to the office in person if possible and watch them change what you need changed, or issue your refund (which happened in my case), or whatever else you require. If you are living in the Loop (University Center), do not bother having a meal plan - it's so overpriced and unnecessary. Stay aware on alert - you'll use public transportation often and be standing on platforms and at corners waiting for buses. I recommend finding venues where you can drink (even if you are underage, they are not too strict) rather than drinking in the dorms whether at Lincoln Park or the Loop UC. Crime is much higher in the Lincoln Park area than downtown, just to note. More venues and nightlife are open near Lincoln Park, however, which is the trade-off.
In three sentences	DePaul is for those who enjoy city life and exploring new places, who have decent street smarts and of course, the money or means to fully appreciate the culture of Chicago. Chicago and DePaul are fairly seamless, and you also embrace the cultures of the surrounding schools.

Academic Rigor	This school is somewhat challenging, it all depends on what classes you take and your major. For me C++ Programming was brutal, but other people thought was easy. It just depends on what you are into. Classes can be as hard or as easy as you make them.
Tips for prospective students	Get ready for an expensive ride. De Paul isn't cheap. Get as many scholarships and grants that are available to you.

Campus Safety	Just like any where else you have to be street smart (don't walk by yourself in dark alleys, try to walk with a friend, etc) because anything bad can happen anywhere not just in Chicago. But DePaul does have their own security patrol which is always making sure everything around campus is fine and if anyone needs a ride to their residential hall from the library they will be gladly to provide that.
Greek Life	Greek life isn't huge at DePaul, but you will see a lot of Greeks walking around, why you ask? Because people who usually go Greek are ones who are involved on campus and a part of a lot of other activities. Definitely look into greek life even if you're curious.
Clubs and Activities	There are a lot of clubs on campus, but the only problem is that you have to search for them in a sense. Not most of them make themselves well known, but there is a website where students can go and get in touch with the president of the certain club.
Great for these types of students	Great for students who have been given a lot of financial aid by DePaul.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus	We do have two campuses, one downtown and one at Lincoln park. We don't really have any unusual traditions other than orientation.
Bang for the buck	DePaul invests well in making the school look good, having updated equipment (computers, wireless printing, etc), keeping their students safe, always trying to update their residential halls and just investing a lot to have a great facility for their students and faculty. Like I said, it is a prestigious school in a way, but if you are thinking about your future and what's better for your academics then it is not worth your $30,000 every year. Invest your money somewhere that will help you get you ready in what you want to do for the rest of your life.
What to do for fun	You live in the city; downtown is your playground. Movies, bars, chicago sports (baseball, basketball, hockey, football), performing shows, museums, festivals; there is always something going on in Chicago.
Food and Dining	The food is good and fast. The student center is always clean and there's plenty of room for people to eat. Eventually you might get bored of the food, but when that happens you will still eat the food no matter what.
Dorm Life	I loved my dorm life. You definitely grow up, but you also meet a lot of new people and even though it is in the city, you get that college experience. It is really expensive to live on campus; if you go to DePaul you will meet a lot of commuters for this reason. A couple residential halls are not super nice, but it is really the people who make it worth your $$$.
Academic Rigor	Your experience in the classroom is very dependent on your professor. If you have a good professor the class will be enjoyable and you will learn. If you have a bad professor the class will be boring and you will might learn. There are much better schools who are known for their academics and their reputation on certain majors. To my knowledge, DePaul is only known well for their theater program, music program and college of commerce. If your major doesn't fall into those categories than definitely have this school as your back-up.
Tips for prospective students	DePaul is a good school, but it should definitely be a back-up. There are other colleges who are better ranked in academics and in reputation that you should apply to. But if DePaul does give you a lot of financial aid then by all means come here; you won't regret it.
In three sentences	DePaul has a beautiful campus with help faculty. DePaul is definitely the most diverse university I've seen. DePaul wants to help their students graduate and do well after graduating.

Greek Life	The Greek life is very limited at DePaul. Most sororities and frats are service-oriented. Very few have their own houses.
What to do for fun	I usually hang-out in my friend's room, play card games, play video games, or go to the local pool hall.
Food and Dining	What can you say, it's dorm food. I enjoy not having to cook for myself and not having to leave my dorm to get my food. Because I live in an apartment-like room, I always have the option of cooking in my kitchen, however.
Dorm Life	I live in the University Center near the Loop campus and I couldn't be happier! The apartment-style rooms are super spacious and comfortable. You can easily have a handful of friends over on a Friday night.
Academic Rigor	It's tough, but not at all unbearable.
Tips for prospective students	Visit! You never know if you'll like a school until you see it with your own eyes. Come and stay overnight with a current student to get insider information.
In three sentences	My dream school was UChicago, but studying at DePaul has been delightful! I would be sad to leave. Beautiful campus, good professors, great dorms, and world-class friends.

Greek Life	Unfortunatly, DePaul does not have a great Greek Life. It does exist, but there are no houses.
Clubs and Activities	DePaul has a huge amount of clubs and activities for students. These range from for fun sports to activism clubs.
Great for these types of students	DePaul is great for students who want a small classroom feeling at a large school. Additionally, the professors here are here to teach first, research second.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus	DePaul has a courtyard where if you stand in the center over the DePaul logo and speak, you will hear an echo! It is pretty cool!
Bang for the buck	DePaul is expensive...but it does provide a great education for those who take classes that will have a meaningful impact on their future career.
What to do for fun	The city of Chicago is your backyard if you attend DePaul. Anything and everything is available for fun!!! Sporting events, nightlife, shows, and pretty much anything you can think of!
Food and Dining	DePaul food is by far the best food I have had compared to other colleges. The choices are friendly to every type of diet!
Dorm Life	Due to space constrictions, DePaul is more of a commuter school. However, the dorms here are nice and spacious. If you want the dorm experience...you will get it here, but on a much smaller scale.
Academic Rigor	The class I have had have really challenged my mind. I find the best part is that the professors care and want you to learn. Regardless of how difficult the class is, there is a professor who will help guide you.
Tips for prospective students	Pick a major as soon as you can as DePaul has plenty of options. However, you do not want to waste money bouncing around majors and falling behind.

Campus Safety	Always on patrol, however not very lenient on the rules even when the rules make little sense. I suggest going to the student center before contacting public safety since they often know the right questions to ask. On the other hand, they are performing their duties. (there's also a transport system for those late night studiers/ partiers)
Greek Life	Fraternities are a plenty but one is not pressured to join one. Many are chill, many are not, there is only one way to learn about each one. Ask.
Clubs and Activities	Huge selection, with new clubs being formed every year. This year a DJ club and a new sport started up.
Great for these types of students	Students that want to experience the responsibility of an adult, want to enjoy themselves, work hard, learn about everything, and give back to their community would benefit from this school.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus	Oz park just to the south east of campus. All of the main characters of the wizard of Oz are cast in metal statues.
Bang for the buck	5*s if and only if you can get scholarships. So get the scholarships, get into the Honors Program, do and everything that you possibly can. It will become a 5 star school if you step outside your comfort zone and make it one.
What to do for fun	Nightlife is great around campus, friends throw parties, there are nightclubs in practically every direction, activities and clubs are always being held at the gym, and there are constantly plays, sports games, and concerts at nearby venues. The best part is that these things are easy to get to via a prepaid public transportation.
Food and Dining	Can be a bit expensive if you eat in the Student Center (SC) all the time. However, there are a plethora of cheap, delicious, and healthy choices all over campus, and on the edges of campus.
Dorm Life	Policies for switching roommates / rooms are in place, the dorms clean, safe, and secure, and Residential Advisors (RAs) are friendly people, what more could you ask for?
Academic Rigor	Because of their quick classes, you have to learn everything and more in a short amount of time. Take advantage of every second.
Tips for prospective students	Always make your first few weeks of each quarter the best you've ever had. There is no reason to start out sloppy and work extra hard just to finish everything in such a short period of time (10 weeks).
In three sentences	All over this school there are great professors, helpful classmates, and lifelong friends to be made. However, the offices are often disorganized and extra time and effort might be needed with this school.

Campus Safety	DePaul has one of the best campus safety's in the nation. Because DePaul is in such a large city many parents worry about sending their children to this school. DePaul is a blue light campus, and has a 24 hour 7 days a week campus safety staff. A shuttle service is available on campus at night for students who are travelling late and would feel more comfortable getting a ride. Lincoln Park is an extremely safe neighborhood within Chicago. It is about being smart and knowing basic safety, but other then that there is absolutely nothing to worry about!
Greek Life	Greek life is definitely expanding rapidly at DePaul University. I am involved with the panhellenic community which is currently at 7 sororities and is about to expand to 8 this upcoming year. The IFC community is currently at 7 fraternities and is going to expand to 8 this upcoming year. The sororities are Alpha Phi, Delta Gamma, Delta Zeta, Chi Omega, Alpha Sigma Alpha, Alpha Omicron Pi, Alpha Xi Delta, and in the fall Phi Mu is being added. The IFC chapters are Pi Kappa Alpha, Sigma Alpha Epsilon, Phi Gamma Delta (Fiji), Sigma Phi Epsilon, Delta Tau Delta, Phi Kappa Psi, and Sigma Chi is being added in the fall. The Multi-Cultural greek council has a thriving community also with many different nationally recognized chapters.
Clubs and Activities	DePaul has a club for EVERYONE. Whether that be joining a singing club, art club, language club, gaming club, sports club, or the skydiving club. There is somewhere that you will fit in at DePaul and find a close group of friends who share in your same interests.
Great for these types of students	Diverse, well-rounded student will do well at DePaul. Although we are a Catholic institution we draw in students from all sorts of backgrounds. Being a Vincentian institution we pride ourselves on our commitment to service and giving back in the Chicago community. Do not be afraid to apply if you are an out of state student. DePaul draws in students from almost every state within the United States and a large population of international students too.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus	The Quad is a popular spot on DePaul's Lincoln Park campus. Even if it's snowing you will find students hanging out in the Quad. During the spring and summer months when it starts to warm up you can find students passing footballs, tanning, studying, and even singing in the quad. This is just one of the areas on campus that draws in students.
Bang for the buck	DePaul is an expensive school which can seem daunting on some students. DePaul gives great financial aid though, and if you work hard academically your tuition can be reduced. The professors are great with a low teacher to student ratio which always makes you feel welcomed. DePaul wants you to thrive academically and that is the number one priority of the students at DePaul.
What to do for fun	It's Chicago, the sky is the limit! If the party scene is not on the top of your list there is always something else to do in Chicago. DePaul usually offers free tickets to movies, sporting events, plays, comedy clubs, and tours around Chicago. Visit historic sites, the Lincoln Park zoo, the Bean in Millenium Park, walk to lake Michigan, shop down Michigan Avenue, or visit a museum! There is never a dull moment at DePaul, or in Chicago!
Food and Dining	The dining on campus is delicious. Every student is given a wide variety of choices from the beginning of the year till the end of the year. The staff at the Student Center are always so nice and willing to help you with any issues you may have.
Dorm Life	DePaul has one of the best residential lives in the country. The majority of the dorms on campus have private bathrooms, air conditioning, and a lively social life. The Residential Advisers are always around and willing to help if needed. This past year Seton Hall was rated in the top ten dormitories in the country!
Academic Rigor	Although DePaul is not an ivy-league school we are one of the better schools in the area. There is high competition within DePaul to reach your highest potential academically. Academics can become hard because we are on the quarter system which means more midterms, more finals, and more information that has to be covered in a shorter time frame compared to a school on the semester schedule.
Tips for prospective students	Do not be timid when applying to DePaul. Although located in a large urban area in the United States, Chicago will only give you that many more opportunities that you would not get at a school in a rural area. It is a fast paced school with a diverse community who will be here with open arms if you decide to join the community!

What to do for fun	DePaul hosts weekly free events. There's always something happening in the student center. In addition, DePaul's student u-pass allows unlimited access to the public transportation system, so students can access the many opportunities throughout Chicago.
Food and Dining	DePaul's dining is great- there are numerous options, some of which change on a quarterly or yearly basis. The meal plan can even be used in a campus grocery store for both dorm food and items such as toilet paper and other dorm room necessities.
Dorm Life	DePaul's student housing is varied, but the dorms are well-furnished and most closets have lots of room. DePaul has a roommate finding online program to help students search for roommates with similar habits and tastes.
Academic Rigor	Particularly in DePaul Honors classes, the school work is stimulating without being impossible. The professors are enthusiastic, which is encouraging to students.
Tips for prospective students	Before choosing any school, be sure to research all aspects of life at that university. Never make a decision without physically visiting the school, sitting in on a class, and talking with current students, if possible.

Campus Safety	One thing that is known is that DePaul cares about your saftey. There are a bunch of emergency boxes around campus. Our campus police is called Publicy Safety, and patrol both the Lincoln Park and Loop campus. They are very reliable, have an escort system, where after 6pm, you can call the public safety line to get a ride to places on campus. Dorms and apartments have a strict guest policy to ensure the safety of the residents, so can say it is a very safe campus.
Greek Life	I'm not into the greek life, but there are fraternities and sororities here on campus. There aren't any frat houses or anything like that.
Clubs and Activities	There are lots of clubs and activities to get involved in. Twice a year, there are these fairs called the Involvement Fair. In the fair, you get an opportunity to see what clubs are available that suit your interests, and you can apply on the spot. The clubs range from Intramural Sports clubs to clubs about gaming, television shows, and even some fraternities and sororities are there as well. There are also community service opportunities you can sign up to participate in. Also, look out for FEST in the spring quarter! Awesome concert. This year Lupe Fiasco performed and last year was Wiz Khalifa.
Great for these types of students	Education majors (which is what I am). They have a fantastic program. It's great for a student who wants to live in an urban environment.
Bang for the buck	Financial aid is not the best here, to be honest; especially if you are a transfer student. I know a lot of transfer students who get very little in financial aid for DePaul. Private schools are pricey, but visit the Financial Aid office for any help you need. Financial aid counselors are not the nicest in the Lincoln Park campus, so go to the Loop campus for financial aid issues. I got an extra grant for the year for just explaining my situation to an aid counselor there. There are other scholarships available at the school. Just talk to any advisor in your major. Although I still have to pay out of pocket, I enjoy being here at DePaul, and I know I will not regret my decision in the long run. The one thing that is great is that you get a U-Pass (unlimited bus and train rides for the quarter), and that saves you a ton of money on transportation. There are a lot of jobs that are listed on the employment website, so you can get a job pretty quickly on campus.
What to do for fun	There are lot of activities, concerts, and events that go on all throughout campus. There are a lot of bulletins about the events that go on. There is at least one fun event going on each day. You just have to find what interests you. Go to sports games as well!
Food and Dining	For your first year (if you choose to dorm), the meal plan you get is too much money. You get about 1,000 dollars a quarter, which means 3,000 in one year. Your meal plan rolls over after each quarter, but you will not get your money back if you have money left over in the spring. I like how they do have a bulk sale at the end of the spring quarter so you can spend your meal plan on food and drink in bulk, but in the end it's not worth it to have all that money. If you are a commuter, however, the food is really overpriced. I feel there could be more variety (like a Chinese place, not just the noodle bowls they have). The food is good, but after a while it can get a little boring. Commuter students should NOT shop in Etc. (a mini grocery store we have). Everything is overpriced there, like for example, a small bottle of Tide laundry detergent costs 9 dollars. Shop at your regular grocery store.
Dorm Life	Fantastic. If you can live on campus, I highly recommend it. It is an experience you will never forget. You get the opportunity to meet new people, and make close friends from living on campus alone. The dorms are very nice. Most have ACs (except for Corcoran) and private bathrooms you share with your suite-mates (except Corcoran and Seton). The facilities are nice, and it is very nice to wake up knowing that you can walk to your classroom in about 5 minutes or less. It's amazing.
Academic Rigor	The classes can be tough. It all depends on the professor really, but there is a lot of work that needs to be done in a college class. Just check out the professors on ratemyprofessors.com. I feel that my classes so far have been rigorous. I worked very hard to get the grades that I have earned, and it is a great feeling.
Tips for prospective students	If you did not do so great on the ACT/SAT, they now have a test optional program where you can choose to submit your scores. If your test score discourage you from applying, don't worry about it because DePaul understands that feeling.

Academic Rigor	Academic rigor depends on your major and the classes you are taking. However, since every first-year student takes just about the same classes, most of those first-year requirements are do-able and not very rigorous at all if you pay attention.
Tips for prospective students	If you are planning to study business at DePaul, this school has an excellent program. However, the science majors are lacking because the College of Science and Health is still relatively new.

Food and Dining	The food is actually tasteful, but just like with everything else in life, after a few weeks things are repetitive and you get tired of it.
Dorm Life	Great sized rooms and the dorms are nice overall, very secure for being in the big city as well
Academic Rigor	DePaul really emphasizes the importance of writing, and a lot of finals and midterms are actually long papers.
Tips for prospective students	Be open to new things, don't put your mind on lock down. Be aware that sometimes you have to sacrifice and work hard to obtain what you want.

What to do for fun	During the summer, there are lots of festivities that are held for the students which is very good for social networking. Also, the campus recreation center is free for all students; exercising is fun! If working out is not for you, the library holds many books and provides free internet.
Food and Dining	The Student Center has a big cafeteria with many diverse cuisines such as Mexican, American, and Asian, as well as salad bars and sandwhich bars where you can make your own meal.
Dorm Life	I do not have personal experiences with dorm life because I have always lived off campus, but by visiting my friends' dorms, I would say that I'm pretty glad that I did not choose to dorm. Shared bathrooms and single beds are not qualified living conditions for me, but many do not mind them because they get to live with their friends and meet lots of new people.
Academic Rigor	Readings, essays, class discussions, quizzes, tests, community service.
Tips for prospective students	I highly advise that prospective students get extremely involved in volunteer work/community service.
In three sentences	DePaul is very diverse. There are various ethnicities and religious, political, and sexual preferences. Although the students' views may oppose one another, I have not seen any hateful acts of judgement.

Food and Dining	The food there is very good. You can almost always get some kind of fast food like a hamburger and fries. The only problem is that the food is more expensive than a normal fast food place.
Dorm Life	Dorm life is very safety oriented. In order to go to your room, you have to scan your ID and have a worker make sure you match the picture on the ID before you can go in. When you are living in the dorms, however, there are many different activities to get you involved!
Tips for prospective students	This school is a very good school. I loved the campus and the people there. You need to make sure that you would be able to live in a big city and be comfortable with traveling to the two campuses in Chicago.
In three sentences	I loved the campus and the people in the department I visited. The only problem with this school was the cost. Although they offer scholarships, living in Chicago and attending a private university quickly adds up the amount of money you have to pay.

Food and Dining	In terms of college food, this grub is great. Chartwell's always has food that is fresh/thoroughly cooked, friendly staff, and a variety of options (including vegetarian and vegan). Throughout the year they also change up food on the menu, and do fun things for Valentine's Day, African American History Month, St. Patrick's Day, etc.
Dorm Life	I am a commuter student, but I have visited friends in most of the dorms and have to say that DePaul students have it pretty good on campus. Dorms are on campus and only 1 - 2 blocks from dining hall, 2 - 4 blocks from mass transit. Great feel, friendly RAs, tight security, and clean facilities.
Academic Rigor	I come home to my family every day and tell them how great my class discussions were - almost every teacher I have ever had was phenomenal. Most of the teachers are also not push-overs - you get what you pay for... don't expect any A's handed to you on silver platters. You will work hard, discuss with teachers and classmates, and learn more than you ever thought possible.

Campus Safety	They have emergency buttons and stands everywhere. I was just informed if you are a girl, there are emergency buttons in the bathrooms and if you press it, the whole building will shut down and security will come within 5 minutes to help.
Clubs and Activities	Swing Society, Cheer leading, Basketball, Water Polo and so much more I don't want to spill. So check out DePaul!!!

What to do for fun	There are many festicals going on at DePaul, like the music festival. Plus, DePaul is located in Chicago. You can always travel downtown with your friends and shop or go to the 12th street beach. There's the Field Museum, Shedd Aquarium, and the planetarium located right near Roosevelt.
Food and Dining	There's always something good cooking in the kitchen and if it's not to your liking there are many dining places around the campus. There's nothing you can't find at DePaul.
Dorm Life	Dorms can be expensive, so make sure you know you can afford tuition before you go looking for a dorm. It is worth it if you get a dorm though because you can get more involved in the college because you are on campus more often.
Academic Rigor	DePaul is focused on their students success in the future so many classes are challenging but not impossible.
Tips for prospective students	Look at the majors they provide. Some might be minors but they can still help you with your degree in the future. Visit the campus and attend social events that are help at the campus. Talk to the financial aid office if money is an issue with you attending.

Campus Safety	DePaul's campus is very safe. The department is staffed by trained, professional public safety officers that are available 24/7. Their services are all very helpful to students.
Greek Life	Greek life at DePaul is much smaller and quieter than it is at a lot of state universities. This is probably because there isn't any University-sponsored Greek housing on or around campus. However, Greek life at DePaul includes both social and professional fraternities and sororities.

Great for these types of students	This school is great for ANY type of student. I have not heard of one person that attends DePaul complain about wanting to transfer to another school.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus	There aren't any that I can think of, but we make sure that we make each student feel welcomed by having a BIG welcome week with free food, activities, and free DePaul merchandise.
Bang for the buck	There are so any resources available to ALL DePaul students! For example, there are financial resources, academic resources, career planners, extra curricular activities, clubs, sports, and MUCH more. Take advantage of them while you're here.
What to do for fun	There are an endless amount of things to do in both the Lincoln Park and Loop Campus. There are many museums to visit, many tourist sites, many shopping places, movie theaters, dining places, the beach is nearby.
Food and Dining	The food here is decent. There are various dining choices, the best part of is that they are all in one building!
Dorm Life	Dorm life can be a little bit crazy, but make sure that you communicate well with your roommate and establish rules the FIRST day you move in!
Academic Rigor	Most of the teachers that I have had grade fairly. They were all very helpful and willing to sit with you if you had a question or concern. There was definitely more homework than in high school, but it was always a manageable amount.

Food and Dining	Food and dining is not a problem. Every block or so, you will find a restaurant that is tasty. Everything is convenient and easy to get to.
Dorm Life	DePaul offers many dorms for all different types of people. There are dorm building that are aimed to be more social. They also hold events so that people are able to experience different aspects of the dorm life.
Academic Rigor	Although professors have office hours, many are willing to meet out of class. Also, they will use class time to discuss what has been happening throughout the courses. The staff understands your circumstances but is equal to all.

Campus Safety	Because this school is in the city, there are many shuttles that will take you from the Loop Campus to the Lincoln Park campus for late night classes. The only difficulty with this is if you're a commuter student, there aren't shuttles to take you to the train station to get back home.
Clubs and Activities	There are so many clubs and activities to get involved in on campus. It's a lot easier for students who dorm to get involved due to the late evening meetings that tend to be held, but there are clubs for almost anything that you can think of--especially for your major.
Bang for the buck	I wouldn't say this school is reasonable, but it is a very credible university with a lot to offer. The expense is a lot more than other schools because it is in the heart of Chicago as well as a private institution. The learning experience is great, and the diversity of people is astronomical.
What to do for fun	Because the school is in the city, there are many places to go for fun nightlife, as well as many different restaurants. The Loop Campus is in the center of downtown Chicago where there are many parks and museums that one can attend.
Food and Dining	Again, I do not live on campus, so I am not sure what the school's meals are like. This school is in the city, though, so there are plenty of opportunities to eat out and near campus.
Dorm Life	I do not dorm on campus. I am a commuter student, but I have friends who have experienced dorm life and they have loved it. The only downside is the expense due to the fact that it is in the city.
Academic Rigor	This school strives for very academically-rounded students with high ambitions and goals. I suggest this school for any motivated student.
Tips for prospective students	I highly recommend visiting an advisor to look over how many credits will transfer from a previous university and/or how many credits you'll need to graduate. I also recommend getting involved in organizations, especially ones that apply to your major.

Call them from anywhere on campus or page them at service pole they have up at any time and they will be there to support you and or pick you up. No questions asked.
Clubs and Activities	There are so many clubs and activities to choose from! And if you cant find one you like, you can start your own.
Great for these types of students	For students that want to excel in their field and give back to their community, this place is perfect.

What to do for fun	In Chicago you get to make your own fun! Although the first week while everything is getting started they have everything from yard games to attending a Red Sox game.

Dorm Life	I live in an apartment off of campus wich is great. I have some friends in the dorms and they really like it. It provides a great place to connect with people.

Great for these types of students	This school is great for people who like living in the city and who want classes without the lull that some schools have.
What to do for fun	Chicago is one of the largest cities in the country and their are people from many different walks of life. Whether it's clubbing, house parties, hookahs, chess at the park, video gaming, visiting the zoo, or sports games. Take your pick.
Food and Dining	You are in the heart of Chicago and we have some of the best restaurant/food in the world.
Dorm Life	I go to the Loop Campus and although they have dorms I would rather live in the city. Downtown Chicago with a roommate costs the same as a dorm does.
Academic Rigor	In truth this depends on the class and how good of a student you are. The classes seem easy to me, but school has always been easy for me.
Tips for prospective students	Get your finances straightened out. Also, take a semester test run and make sure you can handle the classes. They are fast paced, no b.s. days where you sit and have the teacher read you the syllabus. Basically, they treat you like an adult and expect you to act like one.
In three sentences	It's expensive, it costs over thirty thousand a year in tuition. It has a great business school ranked 67th, which is why I'm here. It is really good to transfer students, they go through a long orientation and at the end you see a counselor they go through the credits that transferred and you will feel that the money spent is well worth it. Almost all of my credits transferred and though their gen ed requirements weren't completely full they waived the gen eds.

Campus Safety	There are Blue Lights every where on campus, and anytime you feel unsafe you can call DePaul Public Safety to escort you anywhere on campus and in a mile radius of campus.
What to do for fun	Go out into the city and explore Lincoln Park.
Food and Dining	Average food. There are many healthy options, but no matter what you are craving there is probably something to fill your desire at the DePaul Student Center. DePaul has one central cafeteria which is nice for meeting other students and not being lazy.
Dorm Life	Dorm life is great if you find a good group of friends, which is easy to do.
Academic Rigor	DePaul is on a fast paced 10-week quarter system. Keeping up with academics is extremely important to having success at DePaul.
Tips for prospective students	Visit campus. Visiting DePaul is very important because the feel you get from the Internet and the atmosphere at the actual campus is much different.

Campus Safety	The only reason I give this four stars is because you always have to remember you are incredibly close to a large city, and with that inevitably comes violence. In Lincoln Park, there's not much to be worried about, but it's certainly a good idea to keep aware of your surroundings and know what to do if something happens. As far as the school, they have safety cars that will bring you home if you feel unsafe, or if you're too far off-campus, there's always the taxi system.
Greek Life	Greek life at DePaul continues to grow each year. While it's not an enormous part of campus, it still has a very prominent place in the social life. Going greek is a great way to find a solid network of people, several volunteer opportunities, and develop leadership skills. And if it's not for you? Oh well! Greeks and non-Greeks get along perfectly fine, and as the school is situated in the city, it's not by any means the end of your social life!
Clubs and Activities	There are so many ways to get involved and find a place at DePaul. The number of clubs are practically endless, volunteer excursions are found at every corner, and if you're looking to broaden your cultural views, you've definitely come to the right place!
Great for these types of students	Independent, responsible, generally happy students are found here. If you enjoy constant learning and urban life, this place is your haven.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus	Even though the library is seemingly always open, one of the quieter, cooler places to study is in the Arts & Letters hall, just across the street from the library. It was built more recently and has lots of open study space.
Bang for the buck	DePaul can seem to have a hefty price tag, but, as an older student told me once, you definitely see where all that money is going. I wasn't too sure about this at first, but after getting there, I saw exactly what they had been talking about. The facilities are up-to-date, teachers genuinely care about their students - no professors and TA's that don't speak English, students get lots of advantages that other schools don't offer (such as the UPass for the CTA), and there's lots of free stuff.
What to do for fun	You're in Chicago, for goodness sake! There's always, always, always something to do in this town. From events put on by the bagillion organizations at DePaul, to events happening in Lincoln Park, to festivals, shows, parades, concerts, fine dining, or even just nights out on the town. There's something for everyone in this place - it's amazing!
Food and Dining	I'm a foodie, so again, I'm biased. The food isn't bad, but I'm a chef and baker myself, so I'd much rather whip up something homemade and healthy than eat at the Student Center. However, the soups, sandwiches, and salads are always delicious. And for those late nights cramming, the pizza and quesadillas are surprisingly okay.
Dorm Life	I might be biased because I absolutely love my dorm. I live in Belden, and though it gets a bad rep because it's on the edge of campus and supposedly anti-social, it's really not. The extra two seconds of walking keeps off that freshman fifteen and the people in my building have all been fantastic! We also have the best RA's around.
Academic Rigor	The rigor at DePaul isn't terribly difficult to follow, as long as you stay on top of things, and with only 12 weeks in a quarter, you won't have time to be uninterested enough to slack off anyway!
Tips for prospective students	Be sure to visit the campus and make sure you won't mind the hustle and bustle of the city. Also, don't be afraid to talk in-depth about the school with a student or tour guide. After all, we know the place best!
In three sentences	DePaul is an incredibly friendly school, filled with people who will change your perspective on the world. I've never encountered teachers who engage their students better than the faculty here. It's a happily fast-paced college life in one of America's best cities - what more could you ask for?

What to do for fun	There are parties every weekend if that's your thing. The city has many events to offer.
Food and Dining	The student center food is great but can get bland after a while. Everything is overpriced but you have a meal plan. If you get tired of the campus food go out and enjoy what the city has to offer.
Dorm Life	RA's are strict but they have to be. Don't except to get away with much but you're in the city go have fun. You'll meet many people on campus and there are many opportunities to get involved. You'll get to know everyone staying on campus.
Academic Rigor	Classes are going to challenge you and you will have to dedicate time to going to the library but not enough to make you hate the experience. In fact you'll love that you are actually maturing and getting better study habits.
Tips for prospective students	Apply early. I applied early and got accepted before the end of the year. I chose Depaul over other colleges because of their scholarships. Prospective students should do whatever they think will be best in the long run.
In three sentences	Staying on campus is key if you want to get involved. College is what you make it but Depaul offers you many opportunities to get involved and leave your comfort zone. There is a strong sense of community and you will get to know many people.

Campus Safety	Lincoln Park is one of the safest Chicago neighborhoods, plus, there are emergency buttons throughout campus and Campus Security police roaming around at all times. Students can even call Campus Security to drive them to locations on campus or within a certain radius at later hours. Very safe place to be.
Greek Life	There really is no major Greek Life system at DePaul. Not a large percentage of students affiliate with Greek Life, and if you do, it's not a dominating aspect on anything.
Clubs and Activities	DePaul doesn't exactly make known about certain clubs or activities occurring unless you really try. Beginning of school there is a Club fair held in the quad of the Lincoln Park campus and at the DePaul center in the Loop campus. All freshman are required to attend in accordance with their Freshman Discover/Explore class. Attending this fair and seeing a bunch of clubs DePaul does offer is a great option for those looking into becoming involved on campus. Students really do need to try hard to become involved and active in these clubs, so put a step forward when joining clubs.

Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus	There's a circular area next to the library where if one stands directly in the center of the circle, their voice will seem like its echoing all around them. You won't believe it until you try it. Trust me, it's pretty sweet!
Bang for the buck	The school is very generous with scholarships, so in regards to how much I paid, I'm dealing with attending the school. Granted the school is fantastic for the honors accounting program I am in, and I have no doubts that I will land up with a job if not before graduating, afterwards. I already landed myself with 2 internships after my first freshman year quarter here at DePaul. However, I still am not a lover of the school mainly because of the high commuter population and the no school-spirit type feeling here. The city is great, of course, and I have learned amazing lessons on navigating throughout the city which is definitely a great lesson to have. The amenities the school provides is adequate, all students receive a U-Pass which gives them unlimited rides on the El and CTA bus system throughout the year. The library on campus is great, and the Loop campus is beautiful, personally.
What to do for fun	There are countless things to do in Chicago. Finding those options is really the only thing needed to do, which for some people, becomes the hardest part. However, all freshman are required to take a Freshman Explore/Discover class which gets them acquainted with numerous things the city has to offer. If you have nothing to do, all you need to do is make a quick Google Search for upcoming city events, and you are sure to cure your boredom. In regards to DePaul directly, I guess the Ray has its fun times. There's always free workout classes available, or you an go shoot hoops or play ping pong/fooseball/shuffle board downstairs. Getting involved in clubs is usually the best option to actually having fun things to do since DePaul doesn't really boast a huge school unified events on campus.
Food and Dining	Food is decent, however, they don't switch up the food, though. Food is expensive for those who don't have a meal plan. I never had a problem with running out of money, however, I know plenty of others who ran out of meal plan money weeks before the quarter ended. There are 2 main locations for dining with a meal plan card. The first is the Lincoln Park Student Center where students can go upstairs and choose from about 8 different diners to eat at. Also at the lower level of the student center is a coffee/breakfast/treat diner where one can eat at while surfing the web at the diner's computers. Students may also opt to use their meal plan at the Ray, the local fitness center with a high DePaul presence. The next option is to eat at the Loop campus in the DePaul Center. The food is similar to what diners at the Student Center offer here, as well. Gluten free treats are always available as well as vegetarian food.
Dorm Life	Dorms are fine, however, I personally don't feel like it is providing me any benefit over the commuter student in regards to meeting many more people. Just to add that dorms are really only provided to a fraction of freshman since there is a cap put towards the amount of students able to dorm.
Academic Rigor	Rigor will depend on what classes and what major you are in, obviously. I am in the Strobel Honors Accounting program and it definitely is a rigorous environment. One cannot simply pass the class by just attending class, you have to work for that grade.
Tips for prospective students	Visit the school just to make sure it is the right fit. If you are not a business major or CDM major, try looking for a school renowned in your major's area. Know that the CTA system will become your life

Campus Safety	The campus is overall safe. They even have Campus Safety cars that run and drive people from one destination to another on campus if they feel threatened or unsafe. The area is also well-lit. Still travel in groups to ensure safety.
Greek Life	There are a few fraternities and sororities than the typical university, but they do have the basic ones and some other types.
Clubs and Activities	They have Involvement Fairs throughout the year, and there are many clubs beyond belief. It's impossible to not find a personal match to your interests or hobbies.
Great for these types of students	This school would be great for students who love living in the city and do not mind the fast-paced life of the city. It is also for people who like having a smaller classroom size and fewer people than the typical university.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus	I am not aware of any unusual locations or traditions.
Bang for the buck	I personally like being in the city in general and the not the school personally. The school is very expensive, and I feel as though you are pretty much paying to live in the Lincoln Park area and because it's a private school. I don't feel as though it is completely worth its value.
What to do for fun	I have my friends over in my dorm, or I go to theirs. I also go to the Student Center to eat or hang out with my friends. I have worked out a few times, and the recreation facility is very nice. I also like to catch the L and go places with my friends too.
Food and Dining	The food is pretty decent. It's pretty overwhelming at first, but you get used to the places. The only downfall is that there are few healthy places to eat. The food is pretty expensive as well. If you are health conscious, choose where you eat cautiously.
Dorm Life	The people are very welcoming. The rooms are nice, and you are provided with many dorms in which you choose to reside. Make sure you apply for your ideal residence hall and suite style early to ensure you get your ideal room.
Academic Rigor	It is fast paced, and it is well organized. A syllabus is provided for the entire quarter. Be prepared to have homework almost everyday.
Tips for prospective students	Be prepared for the fast-paced city life. Get comfortable shoes because walking is not an option (unless you have a car or bike). There are many people here; this is definitely not like high school where you know everyone. Get out, and get involved. You can make friends with similar interests, and you won't feel bored or lonely. Overall, just prepare for a new learning experience--especially the feeling of independence.

Campus Safety	Lincoln Park campus is essentially a college town located just outside of downtown Chicago. Multiple emergency stations around campus. Also, if you don't want to walk alone on campus or to your apartment, call public safety and they'll pick you up and drive you where ever you ask (within reason) for free. The downtown campus is in the heart of the city, but still feels like home.
Bang for the buck	A bit pricy for a middle class family, but you certainly get what you pay for. All the buildings and equipment are extremely well maintained, and are always being remodeled, or upgraded.
What to do for fun	If you enjoy exercising, as a student you are automatically a member of a state of the art gym, which includes amenities such as olympic sized pool, locker rooms, racket ball courts, caffe, foosball, pingpong, large free weight room, numerous lifting machines, stair masters, treadmills, ellipticals, medicine balls, basket ball courts, running track, fitness studios, massage therapists, etc. There's always something to do on or around campus. If all else fails... explore the great city of Chicago! Only a 10 minute ride to the heart of the city with public transportation (unlimited rides with a UPASS, part of tuition!).
Food and Dining	There is a wonderful convenience store, etc..., located next to the Lincoln Park cafeteria. The food is of acceptable quality, at times excellent. If you wish to dine out, both the Lincoln Park campus, as well as the downtown campus offer a multiplicity of solid dining options, all within a 10 minute walk.
Dorm Life	I don't live in the dorms, but from what I hear it's relatively expensive, but a good experience.
Academic Rigor	Depending on the individual I'd say it's between 3 and 4. It's intellectually challenging, but if you put the time and effort in, you will do great.
Tips for prospective students	Be ready to meet new people, and have life changing experiences. The only catch is you have to take the first step.

Campus Safety	It is a very safe environment being at the heart of downtown because there are always so many people out there watching. It's never like you're alone, which is great.
Greek Life	There is not only one culture in the school, there are so many others.
Clubs and Activities	There are so many different opportunities for people to enjoy the companies of their peers. So many choices from activities after, during or before class, it's just great.
Great for these types of students	If you are a photographer, it's the best school for you. You can go outside the campus and have so many different perspectives to shoot, so many different places to go and take tons of beautiful pictures. If you are a chef, you can go to any restaurants and experience their daily lives. If you are a lawyer, you have tons of great court rooms and judges to speak with. It's just such a great experience.

Campus Safety	As the campus is located in the city there is really no telling what will happen. But I do appreciate that the campus is very quick to relay information of incidents that have happened on campus or near campus.
Greek Life	Greek Life has improved drastically since the past few years. Around 5-10 years ago, people who wore their letters were not as noticeable as they are now. Being in a sorority, I've absolutely loved the experience. It is truly nice being around your sisters and I feel you appreciate it more because you aren't forced to live in a house with them as other schools.
Clubs and Activities	There are so many clubs and organizations that cater to everyone's interests. Most you can find on OrgSync, an online centralized list of the school's activities.
Great for these types of students	People who LOVE the city.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus	Because our basketball court is not adequate to fit all of our fans, our home games are held at AllState Arena. It's extremely exciting because again, you're not resorted to staying just on campus.
Bang for the buck	DePaul is pretty expensive. I would suggest if you're interested in the business school, theatre school, and Liberal Arts & Sciences schools, then DePaul is a pretty good choice.
What to do for fun	The city is literally your playground. My friends and I do everything from visiting downtown to shopping on Halsted. Because tuition includes a CTA pass, you have and endless amount of activities that you can do. You are not strictly resorted to just the Lincoln Park Campus.
Food and Dining	The food is actually far better than most dining halls I've eaten at. Chartwells does an amazing job providing variety and healthy options.
Dorm Life	I live in Seton Hall and it is safe to say dorming has been one of the best decisions I've made. The atmosphere is lively. You meet people constantly and it brings you so much closer to the campus. Everything is accessible when you live on campus.
Academic Rigor	I am currently enrolled in the Honors Program and I absolutely love it! My professors have been challenging yet very helpful. I enjoy the fact that honors students have priority class registration so I'm able to take the class I'm interested in.
Tips for prospective students	DePaul is definitely nothing like a regular state school. The location itself is within a lively town, Lincoln Park. I believe this University, though a commuter school, provides a fulfilling college experience to those from Illinois and beyond.

What to do for fun	The city of Chicago sets no limits on activities for fun. With the loop only two stops on the L away, students here at DePaul get this beautiful city as their playground.
Food and Dining	DePaul only offers one food and dining center, but it is huge. It is fully equipped with miniature restaurant that cook to order. DePaul does an amazing job making sure that the food is fresh and never left out over periods of time.
Dorm Life	DePaul does not require anyone to live in dorms. But they do offer many types of housing options. There are many on campus dorms to live in, and there are also off campus student apartments. DePaul does a very good job of making sure that housing is affordable to students and easily accessible.
Academic Rigor	Academics here at DePaul is extremely challenging. Attending DePaul as a full time student is very stressful and requires a lot of time management. Students quickly learn that the way to success is through working hard. Students here at DePaul are on a quarter system, not semester, so the academics fly by. Because of the fast paced nature of the school, students have to really focus to do well.
Tips for prospective students	My biggest tip for prospective students is to make sure your willing to put in the effort. DePaul is a very fast paced college. Students here really have to have a well balanced lifestyle to stay on top of their studies. If a huge social life is more appealing to students, DePaul may not be your best option. Here at DePaul, students go far in life, but they work extremely hard in college to prove that they deserve what they earned.

Greek Life	Decent, but no housing is provided for the Greeks so it significantly decreases the experience.

Bang for the buck	The energy and tempo of the campus never allows you to forget how and when to be productive.
What to do for fun	The city of Chicago is at your disposal, as well as night entertainment surrounding the campus, pep rallys, quad events and volunteer opportunities.
Food and Dining	Open late hours when needed, hot, many options and even limited edition food events.
Dorm Life	Clean and structured facilities, though lacking a completely homey feel. Residential Advisers and staff provide excellent surface.
Academic Rigor	DePaul's professors are among not only the brightest, but perhaps the most personable. The integrity of the faculty is shown through the professors earnest execution of both a challenging, yet achievable curriculum and their provocative methods of proving that.
Tips for prospective students	Albeit the more high cost for your education, what you receive in return holds more value-- look into financial aid opportunities well in advanced, and even throughout your education. The point is to make gain more than you lose from your college career. Another tip is to remember that your teachers are individuals who are getting paid to make sure you adequately understand something, do not be afraid to receive additional help. Get your money's worth, and ensure your success in school.
In three sentences	Overall, I would give DePaul University a 7.5 out of 10 rating because it is and continues to be striving to give students their finances worth, especially in a climate of economic struggle. Starting with DePaul's historical and geographical relevance (Chicago) within the United States, it provides a first hand account mexperience of the rapidly evolving urbanization in America. DePaul's academic rigor and intellectual enlightenment is not hard to find when the educational advisement is personally catered to the needs of the student; additionally, the many complimentary and contradicting personalities that make up the student demographic offer a community of well and differently cultured individuals; and lastly the many recreational student benefits (entertainment, counseling, advisory, etc.).

What to do for fun	There is a lot to do, organizations to internural sports. Most students hang by the student center and that seems pretty kick back to do.
Food and Dining	Food is pretty legit, just a bit pricy
Dorm Life	I don't dorm, but wish I could because it would be easier than commuting, but I have heard that dorm life depends on where you dorm.
Academic Rigor	The instructors there are pretty friendly and are actually some what on your case about turning in homework.
Tips for prospective students	Apply to scholarships, take the time now so that later in life you don't take the time out of what should be a new chapter in your life.

What to do for fun	There are clubs; like DAB, to join which are popular and fun. They meet once a week though on Mondays, and that can be hard to attend sometimes. The Greek Life is small, but there are activities within each sorority and frat that include talent shows, fundraisers, and basketball events. We do have a basketball team, but the fan section isn't strong. Probably the best thing about DePaul is how it's location is right in the city, but the weather does make it hard to trek out into sometimes.
Food and Dining	The food is great for the first week or so, but after that many students hate it. The Student Center has many options, but the quality of the food is greasy, not healthy, and very improperly cooked. Many times, it can even upset your stomach to eat there and it does get hard during the week to think of how to spend all your money at the Student Center for food.
Dorm Life	While the dorms are decent in size and quality, their is not much provided by DePaul on the weekends to do. Not many activities are put on in the dorm either. There is honestly not much to partake in besides the bars, which can be overwhelming for some students. Also, the Greek life is not very high in numbers; if that's important for your dorm life.
Academic Rigor	The classes are difficult. Despite the fact that non-science majors have no classes on Friday, the workload is intense during the week. Classes are normally an hour and a half at the least, but many can be up to two or three hours. You should be aware of the focus needed to sit in a classroom for such long periods of time, if that happens to be your schedule. Time management is extremely important. With the ten weeks, there is no time to slack or not read for a class. If you do, there is a strong chance of being overwhelmed and extremely stressed.
Tips for prospective students	I would suggest that you consider DePaul for what it's worth. If you get a good scholarship here, as many students have, take advantage of it for general credits. However, it is not the typical university; where there are active clubs and sports and fan sections. Students go home often and while you might not have classes on Fridays, the work load is intense on the four days of class you have.
In three sentences	I think the trimesters are extremely difficult for students to keep up with. The clubs and organizations have little promotions, and not many activities on weekends; rather weekdays though when students have a lot of homework. Finally, a lot of students that live on campus are practically commuters with how often they go home.

Academic Rigor	I think that the academics are just right here.
Tips for prospective students	Know that it is hard to meet friends at this university because it is mostly a commuters school, but join lots of organizations and be really active in the community around you.
In three sentences	I find DePaul to be very diverse. When I walk around campus, I don't feel out of place and everyone is very friendly. I think that DePaul is the right choice for me.

Campus Safety	Campus safety is unbelievably safe. After six pm you can call campus safety at anytime on campus to come and pick you up and drop you off wherever you would like, as long as its on campus.
Greek Life	Greek Life at DePaul is amazing! However, there are no houses for the sororities or fraternities, which loses some interaction, but overall so many activities and exciting things to do while committing to Greek life.
Clubs and Activities	There are multiple clubs and activities. Every week at DePaul I believe there is more the four or five activities a week. Clubs are great as well. You can pick from a wide selection on orgsync.com
Great for these types of students	Students who love to learn and gain culture experience as well are perfect for this school. It is ultimately a life changing experience going to a school in the city and I highly recommend it!
Bang for the buck	DePaul University is expensive and as much as I think it is an amazing school, I do say I think our tuition goes to a lot meaningless things, such as rebuilding or reconstructing floors or classrooms when they are only ten years old.
What to do for fun	There are a lot of things to do for fun at DePaul University! There is a greek life and it is amazing. There are multiple clubs you can join, everything from the science club to the sky-diving club. Another option of fun, is going abroad. They offer so many lengths of times to go abroad and so many countries to choose from.
Food and Dining	The food at DePaul has a wide variety. There are few healthy choices unless you go to the salad bar everyday. They do offer vegan, gluten-free, and vegetarian options. Overall, pretty good selection.
Dorm Life	Dorm life is great and is right on campus. However, choose a roommate wisely and don't go into it with a friend from high school. Within the dorms there are quarterly check-ups within the rooms. These are a hassle and pointless. Look up the dorms and their ratings, they all are very fun and enjoyable.
Academic Rigor	Depending on your year in college, the academic rigor depends. However, if you devote your time to studying and doing homework you will receive great grades. Honestly, It's up to you and how you organize your time. Otherwise, the classes aren't that extensive.
Tips for prospective students	Pick your classes wisely and obtain an even amount of classes each quarter in order to stay focused. Learn outside the classroom, whether its joining a sport, a club, or going abroad!

What to do for fun	Since it's in Chicago, there is obviously a lot to do. Even just walking around is fun!
Food and Dining	There is not as much of a variety as other schools, but there is an average amount of choices that you'll get sick of by the end of your first year if you live in a dorm and have a meal plan.
Dorm Life	Depends on what dorm you live in.
Academic Rigor	This honestly depends on your major. The academic rigor will be different if you were a Health Sciences Major compared to if you were a Film Major.
Tips for prospective students	Definitely try to get involved with as much as you can your first year so you can make friends easier. Also, since we are on the quarter system, don't worry if you don't like a class. It won't last for long!
In three sentences	DePaul University's Chicago community and urban environment is certainly unique. Also, since it is a private college, the faculty and staff are more personal and connected to their students. The only downside is if you are a commuter, it is difficult to meet people and become involved.

Food and Dining	The food is based on different restaurant types. At first it is really nice but then it because the same thing over and over. They do offer specials once a week.
Dorm Life	The dorms are really nice. They have a lot of space. You end up meeting people that you will be friends with forever. All of the RAs are understanding and nice.
Academic Rigor	All the teacher are amazing and helpful. They give you office hours so you can go talk with them. Most teacher make sure that you are doing well and ask for feedback to make sure that the class is going well.
Tips for prospective students	The school offers a lot of basic class for people that still do not know what they are majoring in. The best way to make friends is just to talk to anybody you meet people are really nice.

Food and Dining	I primarily utilize the Loop Campus and they have an onsite cafeteria. However, many familiar vendors are in the area within walking distance or accessible via public transportation.
Academic Rigor	It's based upon what level you are currently. The programs appear to be quite adaptable.

What to do for fun	Being in Chicago, there are just so many things to do. Tourist attractions, movies, concerts, festivals, parades, diverse neighborhoods, food places, theater, shopping.
Food and Dining	It does not have the widest array of food, but what it does have is good. The spread out coffee shops are great too.
Dorm Life	Not a lot of room available in the dorms since it is a mostly commuter school.
Academic Rigor	It is challenging, but it is not impossibly hard, you just have to actually do the work.
Tips for prospective students	If you want a very urban school, this is it. It's a vastly commuter school, so it gives you the chance to save money and live at home if you can't dorm. Also, take advantage of all the unique classes offered.

What to do for fun	There are many activities you can do at DePaul. At their Loop campus they have a gaming room where students who are majoring in the game development program can walk in and play the video games that people play in today's society. Or if your not the video game playing sort of person you could sign up to be on one of the sports teams, such as: basketball, soccer, tennis and more!
Food and Dining	The cafe at DePaul is small and always busy, but the food they serve there is quite delicious and the smoothies are great.
Dorm Life	I've never been in a dorm but I have heard the dorms were a safe and comfortable environment.
Academic Rigor	The classes that I've taken so far has been moderately challenging. My first Seminar class would be the most rigorous of them all. I was required to read all the material in the course, make detailed notes, participate in active class discussions and do many essays throughout the course.
Tips for prospective students	Make sure you are on time when coming to class. Be prepared and always take consistent notes. Finish your work on time, because not all professors accept late work.
In three sentences	DePaul University is a great college with many programs and degrees to decide on. Most of the classes there are small and interacting and get a chance to meet friendly classmates who share the same interests with you. Overall the school is easy to navigate to from home and really is a great experience to attend there.
